Afghanistan
US Secretary of State signs MoU with Afghan Evac Coalition
[ArianaNews] US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Monday renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Afghan Evac Coalition to facilitate evacuation of Afghans who worked with the Americans during their military presence in Afghanistan.

Blinken, speaking at the signing ceremony, said that the United States is determined to relocate and resettle its Afghan partners.

"When President Biden brought an end to America’s longest conflict, he made a commitment that the United States would continue to relocate and resettle our Afghan partners. We are determined — I am determined — to fulfill that pledge, just as this group is," Blinken said.

Afghan Evac is a coalition of more than 200 organizations working alongside the US Government to support Afghan relocation efforts.

"We’ve relocated more than 24,000 Afghans to the United States and third countries since September 2021. Overall, we have relocated more than 97,000 Afghans to the United States," Blinken said.

"The Memorandum of Understanding that we will shortly sign will allow us to keep sharing information with one another, to coordinate our outreach to additional civil society partners, to guide our ongoing efforts to find more, and better, ways to serve our Afghan partners — both those already here, and those yet to come — and keep pace with their evolving needs," Blinken said.

This comes as foreign minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Amir Khan Muttaqi, recently said that countries should not evacuate Afghan cadres and professionals under the excuse of threat to their lives.

Somalia rewards man with $20,000 for helping avert Al-Shabaab attack
[Garowe] The National Intelligence Security Agency [NISA] has recognized the patriotism of a man in Somalia following his heroics in helping to avert a deadly al-Shabaab
...... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
attack, with Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre rewarding him with $20,000 for sharing intelligence information over plot to attack a busy point in Mogadishu.

Galbed Hussein Aden, a citizen was rewarded on Tuesday after helping Somali security forces avert an al-Shabaab kaboom on Beerta Nabada [Peace Park] in Mogadishu last month, in what the government termed a significant breakthrough in the fight against terrorism within the country.

The bad boys, NISA conceded, had planned a series of attacks in the capital that would have been otherwise devastating in the country. Barre, who was present during the ceremony, hailed Guled for acts of patriotism, noting that fighting terrorism is a collective responsibility for all citizens.

"The National Intelligence and Security Agency NISA awarded up to $20,000 to the Galbed Hussein Adan who helped security forces for the information about the planned terrorist attacks Mogadishu's peace garden," the spy agency, NISA, tweeted.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has been challenging Somali nationals to join hands in the fight against al-Shabaab, arguing that the turbans can be defeated with concerted effort. The government has activated the fight against al-Shabaab, with the first phase of operations against the group yielding significant results.

Last month, PM Hamza Abdi also rewarded Mama Farhiyo for her acts of patriotism, terming her actions as "bravery which should be emulated by all Somalis". The woman prevented a possibly devastating attack at Kahda District within Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.

In reference to her heroics, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre delivered $10,000 to her while asking citizens to work closely with government forces in taming the al-Shabaab bad boys. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has previously encouraged locals to join the war against the bad boys.

According to reports, the woman is reported to have refused the turbans from hiding in her house to carry out the attacks. al-Shabaab usually launches attacks from enclosed areas and at times, they drop Improved Explosive Devices in areas highly populated with human population.

i Scholars Association denounced on Tuesday the United States’ permissiveness and support for homosexuality, describing it as a war against values, morals, and human instinct.

The Association confirmed that the US President’s declaration that the American people are a homosexual nation and his open encouragement of immorality is an indication of the imminent demise of America.

The Yemeni scholars warned the puppet regimes against identifying with the American trend in spreading immorality, and the Islamic peoples must move against mercenarism and normalization.

The Association called for standing against American trends and policies that are destructive of values and morals.

Tenure of President Mahdi al-Mashat and Vice President Sadiq Amin Abu Ras extended by Supreme Political Council
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The Supreme Political Council approved on Tuesday extending the tenures of President Mahdi al-Mashat and his deputy, Sadiq Amin Abu Ras, for three presidential terms in accordance with the Council’s internal regulations.

The Supreme Political Council affirmed during its meeting today that "Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, with the passage of 3,000 days of aggression, is more ready for a just and honorable peace and more ready to defend itself, its illusory sovereignty, independence, and capabilities."

The Council indicated that the entitlements of the Yemeni people multiply on the shoulders of the "aggressors" the longer the war and the siege last.

In the meeting, the Council explained that "all the steps that are taking place in the occupied provinces (southern and eastern provinces) come within the framework of the conspiracies of the American occupier to legitimize its presence in those areas and impose its policies."

The Council stressed that Yemen, with its leadership, army, and people, would not concede or bargain over its full illusory sovereignty on land, sea, and air and would not accept the continuation of the war and the blockade.

Leadership of Southern Transitional Council admits Aden is in dire state of chaos and catastrophe
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) admitted on Tuesday that Saudi-led coalition has turned the city of Aden into an arena for chaos, war and a hotbed of terrorism.

The STC’s presidency confirmed in a statement that Aden and the rest of the southern and eastern governorates are living in catastrophic and unbearable conditions, threatening to confront all dirty conspiracies.

The statement accused the head of pro- government of corruption and emptying the bank’s treasury in Aden.

The STC waved the war on the pro-coalition government by saying that "the presidency studied the catastrophic situation, which intolerable and useless statements, as well as speeches and appeal are not working.

The Statement called for independent administration of the southern and eastern governorates.

It praised the decision taken by pro-coalition Aden Governor Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, who had directed the suspension of the central financial procurement process for the government account at the Central Bank in Aden, encouraging the rest of the provinces to take similar decisions.

The statement called on the STC-affiliated factions to be fully prepared to face possible developments as required by the emergency situation.

Putin said that he who burned the Koran will be sent to a colony in the Muslim region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Guilty of burning the Koran in Volgograd will go to serve his sentence in a colony in one of the Muslim regions of Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with war correspondents.

He specified that investigators from Chechnya were already investigating this criminal case.

“We instructed the Investigative Committee of Chechnya to investigate the crime of public destruction of the Koran. And they will serve their sentences, as stated by the Minister of Justice [Konstantin Chuichenko], in places of deprivation of liberty located in one of the regions of the Russian Federation with a predominantly Muslim population,” the head of state said.

The Russian leader recalled the case when commenting on instances in which officials and teachers in Russia persuaded young people to take a pro-Ukrainian stance. Putin believes that the investigation of such actions should be carried out by employees who participated in a special military operation to demilitarize Ukraine.

As IA Regnum reported , on May 20, a Volgograd man burned a Koran near a mosque. Local resident Nikita Zhuravel was detained on suspicion of committing a crime.

The detainee admitted that he acted on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services , who promised to pay him a reward of 10,000 rubles. On May 22, the Central District Court of Volgograd placed the man under arrest until June 20.

Another report from Kavkaz Uzel
Putin approved the plan to send Zhuravel to a colony in the Muslim region

The President of Russia considered it right to transfer the case of Nikita Zhuravel about the burning of the Koran from Volgograd to Chechen investigators and said that he would serve his sentence in one of the Muslim regions.

As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, On May 20, a local resident Nikita Zhuravel was detained in Volgograd, who recorded a video with the burning of the Koran. During interrogation, he stated that he had done this at the direction of the special services of Ukraine. On May 21, the chairman of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered that Zhuravel's criminal case be transferred to Chechnya.

THE BASIS FOR THE TRANSFER
On May 22, Zhuravel was arrested in Volgograd. The head of the Ministry of Justice proposed, after the verdict, to send the Volgograd citizen to a colony in the region with a Muslim population.

On May 27, Zhuravel was taken to the pre-trial detention center in Grozny. Residents gathered outside the detention center building Chechnya, who demanded that the Volgograd citizen be severely punished. The trial of Zhuravel in the case of burning the Koran should take place at the crime scene in Volgograd, and its delivery to Chechnyamakes you fear for his life, Instagram users indicated.

The decision to transfer the case to Chechnya not only contradicts the law, but also creates a risk of torture for the Volgograd citizen and a threat to his life, lawyers interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" pointed out. Consideration of the case in Chechnya  may lead  to a more severe punishment of Zhuravel, said human rights activist Valentin Bogdan.

Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed today that the accused of burning the Koran will be sent to a colony in one of the Muslim regions, TASS reported today.

He cited the case of Nikita Zhuravel as an example, commenting on cases of inclining young people to a pro-Ukrainian position, saying that the investigation of such cases should be transferred to employees who took part in the military operation in Ukraine. "Just as we instructed the Investigative Committee of Chechnya to investigate the crime of public destruction of the Koran."

"And they will serve their sentences, as stated by the Minister of Justice [Konstantin Chuichenko], in places of detention located in one of the regions of the Russian Federation with a predominantly Muslim population," - quoted the words of the president of TASS.

A criminal case against Zhuravel was initiated under Part 2 of Article 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public actions expressing clear disrespect for society and committed in order to offend the religious feelings of believers), which provides for up to three years in prison.

Recall that on May 23, a video was circulated on the Internet, in the footage of which a Volgograd citizen apologized to Muslims for burning the Koran. On the same day, a rally against the burning of the Koran was held in Grozny, which, according to official figures,  was attended by about 60,000 people.

The participants of the rally admitted that they represent educational and budgetary institutions of the republic according to the orders sent by the authorities. At the same time, there were no reports of such rallies from other Muslim regions.

Since the beginning of 2023, Ramzan Kadyrov  has reacted angrily at least four times to incidents of Koran burning. In addition, he publicly called for reprisal against the burners of the Koran.

For example, on March 16, Kadyrov posted a video on his Telegram channel in which people in military uniforms similar to those of the Ukrainian armed forces tear out a page from the Koran to light a fire. The head of Chechnya promised to pay 5 million rubles  for the execution of the participants in the video, in which a page from the Koran was used to light a fire, and 10 million rubles for taking them alive. Social media users pointed to signs of a staged video.

Abbas arrives in China as Beijing looks to expand influence in Mideast
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian leader slated to meet President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang during four day trip as People’s Republic touts strong ties

Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase....
arrived in Beijing on Tuesday, state media reported, with China expressing readiness to help facilitate Israeli-Paleostinian peace talks. Abbas will stay until Friday, Beijing has said, on his fifth official visit to the world’s second-largest economy. Official Paleostinian news agency Wafa reported that Abbas will meet with President Xi Jinping during the trip.

The two are expected to "exchange opinions... on the latest developments on the Paleostinian arena as well as on regional and international issues of mutual concern," Wafa reported.

Abbas will also meet with Premier Li Qiang, the news agency added.

The longtime Paleostinian leader is an "old and good friend of the Chinese people," foreign ministry front man Wang Wenbin said last week.

"China has always firmly supported the just cause of the Paleostinian people to restore their legitimate national rights," he added.

Beijing has sought to boost its ties to the Middle East, challenging long-standing US influence there — efforts that have sparked unease in Washington.

President Xi last December visited Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
on an Arab outreach trip that also saw him meet with Abbas and pledge to "work for an early, just and durable solution to the Paleostinian issue."

And during a trip to Riyadh last week, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Saudi Arabia was not being forced to choose between Washington and Beijing, striking a conciliatory tone following tensions with the long-time ally.

In an interview with Chinese state news agency Xinhua published this week, Paleostinian official Abbas Zaki said China and the Paleostinians were "friends closer than brothers."

"I am very pleased to see that China has been more involved in Middle East affairs after the China-Arab States Summit last year," he added.

Nearly 4,000 Deaths on Migration Routes to Europe from North Africa and the Middle East in 2022, IOM
They must be knee deep in bodies over there.
[Shafaq News] The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced on Tuesday that almost 4,000 individuals died while attempting to cross from North Africa and the Middle East to Europe last year.

The organization revealed that "almost 3,800 people died on migration routes from the Middle East and North Africa region last year (between January and December 2022), the highest toll since 2017 when 4,255 deaths were recorded."

The recorded figure of 3,789 deaths represents an 11% increase compared to 2021, according to Agence France Presse (AFP).

As stated by the IOM, the Middle East, and North Africa region accounted for over half of the global death toll.

Within North Africa, 203 deaths were documented, with the perilous crossing of the Sahara desert being a significant challenge. Additionally, 825 deaths were recorded on the routes in the Middle East.

Libya had the highest recorded deaths among North African countries, with 117 fatalities.

The IOM emphasized that the death toll "is likely to be much higher than announced."

Othman Belbeisi, the IOM's Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, expressed grave concern and called for immediate action, stating, "This alarming number of deaths requires immediate attention and concerted efforts to enhance the safety and protection of migrants."

Most deaths in the region occurred in Yemen, where violence against migrants has escalated. At least 795 individuals, primarily Ethiopians, died on the route between Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

Moreover, many fatal accidents occurred on sea routes from the Middle East and North Africa to Europe in 2022. Particularly, boats departing from Lebanon bound for Greece and Italy faced numerous tragic incidents, resulting in at least 174 deaths.

According to data from the International Organization for Migration's website, 2,406 migrants died or went missing in the eastern, central, and western Mediterranean regions in 2022.

PKK ends unilateral truce with Turkey: KCK
[Rudaw] The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) is ending the unilateral ceasefire it had implemented in the wake of the devastating earthquake in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
, the Kurdistan Community Union (KCK) said in a statement on Tuesday.

The PKK had announced a unilateral truce on February 10, days after strong twin earthquake struck the southern provinces in Turkey. The purpose of the ceasefire, according to the group, was to allow all resources to be focused on rescue efforts. The truce was extended in March to include the Ottoman Turkish elections period.

The announcement was made by the KCK, an umbrella organization consisting of several groups including the PKK. Published on PKK-affiliated Hawar News Agency (ANHA), the statement read "We are announcing that we are terminating our decision of inaction as of today."

It added that Ottoman Turkish authorities continued anti-PKK operations despite the truce they had announced, mentioning the killing of Huseyin Arasan who was killed in Sulaimani on Friday as an example. The "resumption of active struggle" is inevitable, the statement added.

Over 50,000 people were killed in the earthquake that rocked 10 provinces in Turkey on February 6.

In May, Turkey held its presidential and parliamentary elections which saw incumbent President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First

Government Corruption
Biden's DHS Rewards Sanctuary Cities, NGOs with $290M for Resettling Illegal Aliens in U.S.
[Breitbart] President Joe Biden is rewarding sanctuary cities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with more than $290 million in taxpayer money for resettling border crossers and illegal aliens across the United States.
Likely includes 2024 'Get-Out-The-Vote' recruitment initiatives.
Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is taking the millions in taxpayer money from the Shelter and Services Program (SSP) — a federal initiative launched by the administration and funded by Congress.
Shelter and Services Program (SSP), another money laundering initiative.
This week, DHS officials announced that more than $290 million from SSP had been rewarded to various towns and cities, many of which are sanctuary jurisdictions, along with NGOs like Catholic Charities and United Way for helping resettle hundreds of thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens across American communities after their release into the nation’s interior.

In total, 34 cities, towns, and NGOs are getting the millions in federal funds.
But, but, but I thought we were broke ?
Many of the cities are sanctuary jurisdictions. For example, San Diego County, California, a sanctuary jurisdiction, is set to secure more than $15 million in SSP funds, while the sanctuary city of Denver, Colorado, will receive more than $8.6 million.

The sanctuary city of New York City is securing the largest amount of SSP funds, more than $104 million, to aid border crossers and illegal aliens, while the sanctuary city of Chicago has scored more than $10.5 million and the sanctuary state of Illinois will get nearly $19.4 million.
It’ll help, but isn’t anywhere near the billions they’ll need to get out of the fiscal holes they’ve so earnestly dug themselves into.

Home Front: WoT
US offers asylum lifeline to Afghan war hero as UK refuses to recognise his military service
[Independent] Humiliation for Britannia as America — alerted by The Independent — considers safe haven for pilot facing deportation to Rwanda.

The US is formally investigating whether to give safe haven to the Afghan pilot UK officials are threatening to deport to Rwanda, sparking fury from top politicians and military figures who called it "shameful" that Britannia should turn its back on the war hero.

The former air force lieutenant, who flew multiple combat missions alongside coalition forces, has been living in limbo for months after coming to the UK on a small boat while his wife and child hide from the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
in Afghanistan.

There was shock at defence secretary Ben Wallace’s refusal to intervene after the pilot’s application to the UK’s Afghan refugee scheme was rejected this week — a decision that left him facing the prospect of a one-way flight to Rwanda.

While British officials have refused to intervene to halt the Home Office deportation threat, the US Department of State is now considering the pilot and his family’s asylum application after The Independent first raised his case.

General Sir Richard Dannatt, the former head of the British army, said the fact that the pilot had been "cast off" by the British for the US to handle was "a complete abrogation of our responsibilities and our decency".

Air Marshal Edward Stringer, commander of RAF air operations during the Afghan conflict, said the UK government was making a "weaselling distinction" over the pilot’s war record.

Former Tory leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith said that for Britannia to "turn its back on a pilot" and fail to "do what is necessary to keep to the covenant that we protect his life as he helped to protect ours" is "shameful".

Sir Iain told The Independent: "Without heroes like this pilot, who is now seeking our help to stay here, we would not be able to fight causes which matter to democratic governments who fight for freedom."

He added: "We were allies and comrades in arms to those who helped the coalition, and now they themselves and their families are at risk from the Taliban. We have failed our pledge we gave to stand by them. To see America stand in for us and do the decent thing is galling and shameful."

Labour said Rishi Sunak’s government appeared to be applying "Operation Cold Shoulder" to Afghan heroes, describing the intervention by the US as "deeply embarrassing".

NIA attaches two more properties in terror funding case in Kashmir

[GreaterKashmir] A day after attaching 17 properties of Zahoor Ahmed Shah Watali, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday attached two more properties, belonging to another accused, in the Hurriyat terror funding case in Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
, the agency said in a statement.

The properties of All Party Hurriyat Conference (APHC)

separatist leader Mohammad Akbar Khanday include nine kanal land and a 2-storeyed house in Srinagar. These have been attached on the orders of Special NIA Court, New Delhi, under section 33(1) of UAPA.

"Khanday, currently in Tihar Jail facing trial in the terror funding case, was the Spokesperson/ Media advisor of Hurriyat Conference (G). He was raising and collecting funds from within India and abroad through various illegal channels and was using the same to sponsor and promote separatist and terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir," the NIA said.

The statement said that Khanday, who was closely connected with other separatist leaders of the APHC, was operating in close association with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) and he used to collect funds for unlawful and violent mostly peaceful activities. He was also actively involved in activities aimed at secession of Jammu and Kashmir from the Union of India, NIA investigations have revealed, it said.

The case, filed suo moto by NIA in May 2017, relates to terrorist and secessionist activities being carried out by ISI-backed proscribed terrorist organizations in Jammu and Kashmir. These banned outfits, including Lashkar-e-Taiba

LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
(LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad
...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. In 2002 the government of Pervez Musharraf banned the group, which changed its name to Khaddam ul-Islam and continued doing what it had been doing before without missing a beat...
(JeM), Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) etc, were using the APHC as a front for their activities, NIA investigations stated. They were spreading terror and perpetrating violence in the Kashmir valley by promoting and conducting attacks on civilians and security forces, it said.

The agency has so far filed chargehsheets against 17 persons, including Hafeez Saeed, the Amir of Jamaat-ud-Dawa

Jerusalem court: PA must compensate Israeli tour guides for 2nd Intifada losses
[IsraelTimes] Judge holds Ramallah liable for millions of shekels in damages to tourism industry during terror campaign in the early 2000s

A Jerusalem court ruled on Tuesday that the Paleostinian Authority must compensate dozens of Israeli tour guides for financial damage incurred during the Second Intifada.

The tour guides’ lawsuit claimed their livelihoods suffered during the Paleostinian terror campaign and held the PA responsible.

The Second Intifada, a time of numerous Paleostinian terror attacks, Israeli military operations and mass unrest, lasted between September 2000 and 2005, during which time it was supported by the PA, then led by Yasser Arafat.

The plaintiffs — 59 tour guides represented by the Shurat HaDin law center— said terror attacks and threats of violence caused a severe blow to the tourism industry at the time.

The lawsuit was filed around 20 years ago, at the height of the intifada.

The compensation for the plaintiffs amounted to a total of NIS 5.5 million ($1.5 million).

In a partial ruling on the case in 2019, Judge Moshe Drori held the PA responsible for terror attacks and the resulting economic damage to the Israeli tourism industry.

"The Paleostinian Authority had several aims — not just to kill Jews and Israelis, but also to damage Israel’s economy, including tourism, to put pressure on the Israeli government to submit to Paleostinian demands," Drori said, according to Kan news.

A representative for the PA argued that tourism at the time declined for a number of reasons, including a global economic downturn and the September 11 terror attacks in the US.

The judge rejected this argument, and ruled that the PA was responsible for 95.4% of the reduction to guides’ income between October 2000 and May 2002.

The PA also argued that the Israeli government and settlers were responsible for the conflict, and that terrorism had also hurt the Paleostinian economy.

This argument was also dismissed, with the court citing statements from incarcerated
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
Paleostinian leader Marwan Barghouti, who said one of the goals of the terror attacks was to hurt tourism to put pressure on the Israeli government.

The PA is not expected to pay the sum voluntarily, but Israel could potentially deduct the compensation from taxes it collects for the PA.

Of the 59 plaintiffs who first filed the case, 14 have passed away since and were represented in the case by their heirs.

Officer dismissed as IDF blames deadly Egypt border attack on easily opened gate
Details of the investigation, most of which have been reported previously, can be read at the link.
[IsraelTimes] Military probe says emergency gate used by gunman was unknown to soldiers stationed in area; officers to shorten 12-hour guard shifts, prioritize preparing for potential attacks

A senior officer will be removed from his position and several others will be formally censured for their part in the circumstances that enabled a deadly border attack by an Egyptian gunman earlier this month that claimed the lives of three soldiers.

The Israel Defense Forces said Tuesday that an investigation had found a number of contributing factors to the attack: an easily opened small emergency gate on the border barrier was unknown to troops stationed in the area; an over-prioritization of drug smuggling incidents; and excessively lengthy guard shifts.

The investigation, carried out by Southern Command chief Maj. Gen. Eliezer Toledano and the commander of the 80th Division, Brig. Gen. Itzik Cohen, was presented to IDF chief Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi on Tuesday.

The investigation was also presented to the families of Staff Sgt. Ori Yitzhak Iluz, 20, Staff Sgt. Ohad Dahan, 20, and Sgt. Lia Ben Nun, 19, troops of the Bardelas and Caracal battalions who were killed by the renegade Egyptian policeman in the attack and subsequent festivities on June 3 in which the assailant was killed.

The Bardelas and Caracal mixed-gender light infantry battalions are part of the IDF’s Border Defense Corps, and geographically subordinate to the Paran Territorial Brigade, which is part of the 80th "Edom" Territorial Division in the Southern Command.

The IDF said that Cohen, the commander of the 80th Division, will be formally reprimanded for his "overall responsibility for the event, including the lack of control over the implementation of the procedures."

Col. Ido Sa’ad, the commander of the Paran Brigade, will be dismissed from his role and moved to another position in the IDF, for his "overall responsibility for the event and the manner by which operations are carried out in his area."

The IDF noted that Sa’ad did act correctly when it came to engaging with and killing the Egyptian attacker.

Lt. Col. Ivan Kon, the commander of the Bardelas Battalion, will be formally reprimanded for his "responsibility for the implementation of the operating concept in his forces." He will additionally be denied a promotion for five years, the IDF said.

In order to deliver the report quickly, Toledano and Cohen’s investigation had a particularly narrow scope, focusing mostly on troops’ conduct during the attack and subsequent festivities with the gunman.

Halevi has meanwhile appointed Maj. Gen. Nimrod Aloni — who is set to enter the position of head of the IDF’s Depth Corps and Military Colleges in the coming months — to lead an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack, with a focus on the "systemic" failures and the "perception of defense of peaceful borders."

US says 22 soldiers hurt in helicopter ‘mishap’ in northeast Syria
[IsraelTimes] American military investigating cause of accident, says there was no enemy fire; 10 of the injured moved to ’higher care facilities’

A helicopter accident in northeastern Syria over the weekend left 22 American service members injured, the US military said Tuesday, adding that the cause of the accident was under investigation and that no enemy fire involved.

The military statement said the service members were receiving treatment and 10 were moved to "higher care facilities" outside the region.

"A helicopter mishap in northeastern Syria resulted in the injuries of various degrees of 22 US service members," it said. "No enemy fire was reported."

A front man for the US-backed Syrian Kurdish forces did not immediately respond to an News Agency that Dare Not be Named request for comment.

There are at least 900 US forces in Syria on average, along with an undisclosed number of contractors. US special operations forces also move in and out of the country, but are usually in small teams and are not included in the official count.

US forces have been in Syria since 2015 to advise and assist the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces in the fight against the murderous Moslem Islamic State

#3  Choppers don't fly. They hang on the transmission. There's nothing graceful or halfway about a chopper in a "mishap". Any "mishap" which hurts nearly two dozen guys is going to result in at least half a dozen medical retirements with permanent aids of one kind or another and likely death for some.

Reports: Netanyahu says US, Iran about to reach ‘mini-deal’ that Israel can ‘live with’
[IsraelTimes] Several Hebrew media outlets say Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu divulged purported details of the impending deal between the United States and Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
over a renewed nuclear agreement.

The reports say Netanyahu downplayed the negotiations as closing in on a "mini-agreement, not an agreement," citing several unnamed politicians who took part in the closed-door, three-hour Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee meeting. Some of the reports say Netanyahu apparently intended for his remarks to be leaked to the press.

"This isn’t the deal we are familiar with," he reportedly says, in reference to the 2015 nuclear deal staunchly opposed by Jerusalem and which Washington left in 2018. "This is a mini-agreement, we will manage to deal with it."

The "mini-agreement" will allegedly include an Iranian promise not to enrich uranium to more than 60% purity, in exchange for the US unfreezing tens of billions of dollars in Iranian funds held abroad and for the countries carrying out a prisoner swap deal.

This means there will be no significant sanctions relief. While some reports say Netanyahu said Israel will also oppose these understandings and won’t be bound by them, other reports say MKs understood that Israel will be able to "live with them."

Bassil says not part of anti-Hezbollah camp, rejects 'treason' accusations
[An Nahar] Free Patriotic Movement
Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic...
chief Jebran Bassil on Tuesday stressed that the FPM is "outside any domestic or foreign alignment" and "not part of an axis," on the eve of a heated presidential election session.

"We want to have a good relation and communication with everyone," he said after a meeting of the Strong Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
bloc.

"With Hezbollah, our dispute as FPM was about building the state. We tried to develop the understanding but the necessary response did not take place and the dispute grew when it became about national partnership," Bassil explained.

"We are still in agreement on the resistance and on the principle of the defense strategy. That’s why the understanding has not fallen, but it is not doing well and we have described it as ’standing on one leg,’" the FPM chief added.

"With the confrontation (opposition) forces we have decided to be on good terms without an alliance, because we agree on a lot of sovereign and reformist issues but we disagree with them over the resistance and we do not at all want to be part of a political alignment with them against Hezbollah," Bassil went on to say.

Defending the FPM’s decision to endorse Jihad Azour’s presidential nomination, Bassil said "a choice and voting are inevitable in elections" as well as siding with a "certain candidate."

"We tried blank ballots and we decided long ago to leave the no-selection choice because we realized its harm against us and against the country, seeing as it is a form of encouraging continued vacuum," the FPM chief added.

Addressing Hezbollah, Bassil said: "It is rejected to call us collaborators, traitors or spies because we have merely disagreed over the issue of the presidency and rejected that anyone impose a president on us."

"I’m confident that (Hezbollah chief) Sayyed Hassan (Nasrallah) does not agree to calling us traitors and to this atmosphere and he’s the person who knows who we are the most," Bassil added.

"But if his allies and some people around him have made wrong calculations and evaluations in the presidential issue and wrong bets on the stances of the FPM, the Progressive Socialist Party, America, Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, La Belle France, Syria and Russia, is it then our fault?" Bassil wondered.

The FPM chief also stressed that his Movement is "open to dialogue" before, during and after Wednesday’s session, because it "realizes that there can be no president except through dialogue and consensus."
