Yemen’s Houthis hold funerals for 17 members killed during US-UK airstrikes
[IsraelTimes] Yemen

Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...

...KABOOM!...
s, the Houthi-run Saba news agency says.

"The bodies of a number of deaders of the nation and the armed and security forces who were martyred as a result of the bombing of the American-British aggression were carried through Sanaa today in a solemn funeral procession," Houthi official media says, listing their names.

Overnight on Friday-Saturday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said forces conducted "self-defense strikes against two mobile unmanned surface vessels (USV), four mobile anti-ship cruise missiles, and one mobile land attack cruise missile (LACM) that were prepared to launch against ships in the Red Sea."

Britain
Report: Iran recruiting British Muslims on Middle East pilgrimages to spy on UK Jews
[IsraelTimes] UK newspaper says IRGC approaches Shiite Moslems visiting religious sites in Iraq, Iran, asks them to gather intel on prominent British Jews, synagogues, Iranian dissidents

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is recruiting British Moslems on pilgrimages to Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. and Iraq to spy on Jews and Jewish targets in the United Kingdom, according to a Friday report citing Israeli and UK officials.

According to the report in the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper, IRGC recruiters have been approaching Shiite Moslems visiting religious sites in the Middle East and asking them to "gather information on prominent British Jews or targets such as synagogues."

The agents are also reportedly asked to spy on Iranian dissidents based in the UK.

An unnamed source quoted in the report said, "We do not know the scale of Iranian agents inside Europa

and the UK, but all it takes is for one to slip through the net."

Another expert, Kasra Aarabi, of the United Against Nuclear Iran think tank, was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying that the recruiters usually focus on hiring British Shias who originated from Pakistain, Iraq and Leb

The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? rather than British Iranians "who are usually secular and oppose the Ayatollah regime."

According to the report, British Moslems visiting the holy Iraqi city of Karbala in September to commemorate Arbaeen, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, were approached to spy for Iran.

The report also quoted a British official as saying that the Iranian regime often uses British-based organized crime networks to carry out attacks on UK soil, and that information gathered by the British spies may be used in such plots.

In late January, Britannia imposed sanctions on seven Iranian officials and one organization it said were involved in threats to kill journalists on British soil, and others it said were part of international criminal gangs linked to Iran.

The sanctioned Iranian officials were members of the IRGC’s Unit 840, which an ITV investigation in Britannia said was involved in plots to assassinate two television presenters from the news channel Iran International in Britannia.

following Hamas’s devastating onslaught, which saw Death Eaters kill some 1,200 people and kidnap another 250, mostly civilians.

The Daily Mail report came as British Jews were on edge amid a spike in antisemitic incidents and sustained displays of anti-Israel sentiment in London since Hamas’s October 7 attacks. Data from the Community Security Trust, a Jewish security group, indicated that antisemitic incidents in the United Kingdom have risen to record levels since October 7, with 2,093 incidents reported in the 68 days after the attack.

Lawyers called the Ombudsman's statement about the beating of Zhuravel by Kadyrov a formal reply
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The ombudsman's office has the legal right to seek from the Chechen police to verify information about the beating of Nikita Zhuravel, and the ombudsman's statement about the impossibility of doing this is explained by the reluctance to enter into confrontation with Ramzan Kadyrov, lawyers considered.

As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, on February 7, the Russian Ombudsman's Office reported that the Chechen police, after an inspection, refused to open a criminal case for the beating of Nikita Zhuravel "due to the absence of a crime," and the supervising prosecutor recognized this decision as "legal and justified." In addition, Zhuravel’s criminal case is being processed by the court, and “at this stage of criminal proceedings, take measures within the competence established by the federal constitutional law of February 26, 1997 No. 1-FKZ “On the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation”, to Unfortunately, it is not possible," the document says.

On September 25, 2023, Ramzan Kadyrov  published a video in which his son Adam beats Volgograd resident Nikita Zhuravel, who was arrested for burning the Koran, in a pre-trial detention center. The head of Chechnya praised his son for this act. In October 2023, it became known that the police refused to initiate a criminal case, since criminal liability for crimes of this kind is provided for people over 16 years old, and Adam Kadyrov at that time had not reached this age.

Footage of Adam Kadyrov beating Nikita Zhuravel is in itself a sufficient reason for an investigation, says Svetlana Gannushkina, head of the Civic Assistance Committee.

“The situation is such that no special investigation is required, the footage recorded by the perpetrators speaks for itself, therefore no additional actions are required for the investigative authorities. There is a political directive, and the case of the beating of Zhuravel is not the only one, it differs only in its scope. In the same way, case of [co-chairman of the Memorial Human Rights Center] Oleg Orlov *, he, his lawyer and public defender Muradov clearly said that the case was won, and now it has been returned again... The court and the investigation make exclusively political decisions and all in one key, innocent people are being tried, loyalty to the authorities and personal closeness to those who make up the upper layer are being assessed,” Gannushkina told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

She also noted that Kadyrov Jr.’s minor age is not a basis for stopping his prosecution. “Minors are put in the dock with their parents, who are responsible for their upbringing, and this man received medals for his crime,” the human rights activist said.

Unilever reports diving sales in Southeast Asia amid anti-Israel boycotts
Why it’s safer for businesses to avoid anything that even slightly smacks of the political.
[IsraelTimes] Company sees notable decline in business in Indonesia as Moslem-majority countries punish firms seen backing Israel; says no supply issues from Red Sea attacks

Britannia’s Unilever said on Thursday that fourth-quarter sales growth in Southeast Asia had been hurt by shoppers in Indonesia boycotting brands of multinational companies "in response to the geopolitical situation in the Middle East."

The maker of Dove soap, Knorr stock cubes and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is among several Western brands that have seen protests and boycott campaigns against them — particularly in countries with large Moslem populations — over their perceived pro-Israeli stance in the Israel-Hamas

war.

McDonald’s this week posted its first quarterly sales miss in nearly four years, partly due to the conflict in the Middle East. The company said the war had "meaningfully impacted" performance in some overseas markets.

In Indonesia, home to more than 200 million Moslems, Unilever’s fourth-quarter sales declined by double-digits, the company said, adding that it has "since seen some improvement to customer and consumer uptake in January."

Unilever CEO Hein Schumacher said the company was otherwise "not seeing material impacts to our supply chain" as a result of the Israel-Hamas war and related attacks on vessels in the Red Sea.

"There are some small interruptions obviously for some key ingredients and on shipping and so forth. So there’s some delay but I wouldn’t call it material," Schumacher said on a call with journalists.

"We are working with big forwarders and carriers and I’m aware of them taking longer routes," he added, saying that much of Unilever’s products and materials are sourced locally and regionally to where they’re sold.

Unilever’s Ben & Jerry’s board last month called for a permanent ceasefire in Gazoo

The brand announced in July 2021 that it would stop sales in the West Bank and parts of East Jerusalem, saying selling ice cream in the Paleostinian territories was "inconsistent with our values."

The move sparked a public battle between Unilever and the brand, with many Jewish consumers launching boycotts of the ice creamery.

In 2022, Unilever sold its interest in the concessionaire producing and distributing Ben & Jerry’s in Israel.

Minneapolis approves resolution calling for Gaza ceasefire, overriding mayor’s veto
[IsraelTimes] Mayor Jacob Frey says he supports ceasefire, but language of resolution was too ’one-sided’ amid concerns over rising antisemitism nationwide.

The Minneapolis City Council overrode a mayoral veto on Thursday and approved a resolution that calls for a ceasefire in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. and an end to US military funding to Israel.

The office of Mayor Jacob Frey, who is Jewish, said he has been "clear and consistent" in his support for a ceasefire, but he vetoed the resolution last week because he was concerned about its language being "one-sided" and about rising antisemitism in Minneapolis and beyond.

The resolution calls on state and federal authorities to advance a full, immediate and permanent ceasefire; provide urgently needed humanitarian aid; stop US military funding to Israel; release Israeli hostages taken by Hamas
...a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
; and release thousands of Paleostinians "held indefinitely without cause and trial in Israeli military prisons."

Council President Elliott Payne and Council Vice President Aisha Chughtai said in a joint statement that they are proud of the nine council members who voted to override the mayor’s veto.

Sana Wazwaz, a leader in American Moslems for Paleostine’s Minnesota chapter, said in a statement that the vote signals a radical shift in what is considered acceptable criticism of Israel. Wazwaz said the Minneapolis resolution is unique because it calls for a complete end to US aid to Israel.

Jewish Voice for Peace’s Twin Cities chapter also expressed support for the council’s decision. "As Jews who took part in this process, we were guided by our values and experiences of intergenerational trauma that led us to say ’never again’ for anyone," said Nat El-Hai of Jewish Voice for Peace in a statement.

Minneapolis is the latest US city to approve such a non-binding resolution, following reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown

, Atlanta, bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit

#7  Consider this as 15 years out of date, but foundational to trends likely today.

The Somali immigrant culture in the US might be generally defined by a kleptocratic patriarchy, multi-generational, with familial concentrations linked by tribal heritage. They tend to initially concentrate in Section 8 and low-end apartment complexes, and soon create a mono-cultural status within that "colony". Thereafter, they concentrate on developing collective income streams from various forms of fraud, and low-risk theft while establishing defined territories. In the cases of Columbus and San Diego, the males quickly focused on the taxicab business as a form of income and reconnaissance/information gathering. In some ways, a mirroring of the early Mafia techniques of intimidation and cultural resistance to assimilation.

Minnesota demonstrates their organizational movement into political power and the linkage to the wider Muslim power centers withing the demokrat party.

#15  why Somalis go to a cold place like Minnesota.

There’s a historic immigration pattern in America — and in Israel, too — where the first individuals of a group end up somewhere and settle down, then write home and tell others to come join them. Pull migration is, I believe, the technical term.

As SteveS relates, a few were welcomed and made much of in Minneapolis, so the rest followed.

Top Biden aide tells US-Arab leaders he has no confidence in Israeli government
[IsraelTimes] In recorded meeting in Dearborn, deputy NSA Jon Finer also says administration finds some Israeli leaders ’somewhat abhorrent’; constituency is key to Biden’s reelection hopes

A top White House official said he does not have "any confidence" in the current Israeli government, specifically regarding its readiness to take "meaningful steps" toward the creation of a Paleostinian state, The New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

reported Friday, citing a recording from a meeting between the official and Arab American leaders in Dearborn, Michigan.
That seems reasonable. I have no confidence in the current Palestinian leadership in either territory to take meaningful steps toward the creation of a Palestinian state.
US Deputy National Security Adviser Jon Finer reportedly made the comments Thursday during a visit to the city, which has a large Arab-American population. He visited alongside other Biden administration officials, including ex-UN ambassador Samantha Shanty Irish Power, to plead the president’s case before a constituency that is crucial for his 2024 reelection bid, but has been outraged by his support for Israel during its war with Hamas
...always the voice of sweet reason...
in the Gazoo

Strip.

According to the report, Finer told attendees at the meeting about the Biden administration’s efforts to end the war in Gaza, and to establish formal diplomatic relations between Israel and Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, which, he said, is a crucial step toward Paleostinian statehood and would demand all parties to compromise.

"We will have to do things for Saudi Arabia that will be very unpopular in this country and in our Congress," Finer was quoted as saying. "Will Israel be willing to do the hard thing that’s going to be required of them, which is meaningful steps for the Paleostinians on the question of two states? I don’t know if the answer to that is yes. I do not have any confidence in this current government of Israel."

Finer also called some unnamed Israeli officials "abhorrent" and said the adaministration should have taken a stronger stand against those who compared "residents of Gaza to animals."

While he did not name names, the Times report specified that Defense Minister Yoav Gallant was quoted in the first days of the war saying, "We are fighting human animals and we are acting accordingly."
Would Mr. Finer have been happier if he’d described them as brainwashed psychopaths? Because that is what they’ve been trained from childhood by the PA and Hamas governments to be.
Gallant was referring to Paleostinian snuffies behind the October 7 massacres in Israel and not all residents of Gaza, but his quote has been widely used as ostensible proof of Israeli dehumanization of the Gaza population.

"Out of a desire to sort of focus on solving the problem and not engaging in a rhetorical back-and-forth with people who, in many cases, I think we all find somewhat abhorrent, we did not sufficiently indicate that we totally rejected and disagreed with those sorts of sentiments," Finer said.

He also expressed regret at the "missteps" the Biden administration has made handling the war, particularly with regard to a perceived lack of concern about the civilian casualties as it refused to back calls for a ceasefire.

"We are very well aware that we have missteps in the course of responding to this crisis since October 7," Finer said.

"We have left a very damaging impression based on what has been a wholly inadequate public accounting for how much the president, the administration and the country values the lives of Paleostinians. And that began, frankly, pretty early in the conflict," he added.

Most explicitly, he expressed remorse that a Biden statement marking 100 days of war did not mention Paleostinians killed in Gaza.

"It did not in any way address the loss of Paleostinian life during the course of the first 100 days of the conflict," Finer said, according to the Times. "There is no excuse for that. It should not have happened. I believe it will not happen again. But we know that there was a lot of damage done."

Finer declined The New York Times’ request for comment.

The News Agency that Dare Not be Named later reported that a White House National Security Council spokeswoman had confirmed the reported comments’ veracity, but sought to downplay them, saying that "the President and Mr. Finer were reflecting on concerns we have had for some time and will continue to have as the Israeli operation proceeds, about the loss of Paleostinian lives in this conflict and the need to reduce civilian harm."

The comments reported in the Times come as the White House has stepped up public criticism of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s resistance to the prospect of Paleostinian statehood, and his prosecution of the war, which Biden said Thursday was "over the top."

Among those present at the Thursday meeting were Osama Siblani, publisher of the Dearborn-based Arab American News, one of whose previous meetings with Biden administration representatives was slammed by the Anti-Defamation League due to the publisher’s remark at an October rally that Hamas "is not a terrorist organization."

Finer also reportedly met with Abdullah Hammoud, the mayor of Dearborn, who, in a November rally, articulated Arab Americans’ growing disenchantment with Biden ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

"If American democracy depends on our current president being reelected, then why is being bedfellows with the terrorist Netanyahu, worth sacrificing American democracy?" Hammoud was quoted by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), a Washington-based think tank.

Hammoud has recently found himself at odds with MEMRI after a senior figure from the think tank published a Wall Street Journal op-ed dubbing Dearborn America’s "jihad capital," which led the mayor to beef up security in the Michigan city, and elicited condemnation from President Biden.

Michigan is a battleground state in the 2024 US presidential election in November. Biden won it in 2020 with a margin of under 3 percent. Arab Americans make up some 2 percent of Michigan’s population.

Dearborn, which has America’s highest per-capita population of Arab Americans, is represented on Capitol Hill by Rep. Rashida Tlaib

President Arif Alvi to invite PTI to form govt, claims Gohar Khan

(PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Saturday claimed that President Arif Alvi would invite his party to form the government as they had gotten a majority in the National Assembly.

"We have no quarrel with anyone, we want to move forward. We will proceed and form a government in accordance with the constitution and the law," Gohar Khan said addressing the media in Islamabad.

He said the people freely exercised their right to vote. The presiding officers counted the votes and prepared Form 45, he added.

The PTI chief said the results should be made according to Form 45 as they had received all those forms.

He said the economy would not be able to tolerate the suppression of peoples' voice and forming a desired government.

"No obstacle should be created for the PTI and results should be announced as soon as possible. As per the law, the final result is extracted from Form 45 and we have received all the results," he said adding that the final results should be announced before 12:00am tonight.

Gohar said their independent candidates were in contact with them. They were loyal to the party and would remain so, he said adding that they would make their independent government.

He said the PTI would go towards intra-party elections within 15 days after completion of the process. The people had given a big mandate to the PTI, he maintained. He also said all the cases on the PTI founder were fake.

The PTI chairman said they would reach a decision soon regarding the reserved seats as well as what party they should join. He said they would hold peaceful protests in the constituencies where results were stopped.

"The workers are requested that protest is a right, but it should be peaceful," he said.

He said advertently an attempt was made to defeat them on the seats they had won. He claimed that the PTI had won elections on 170 seats. He also said his party clinched 39 out of 35 NA seats from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Gohar said they would decide about the chief minister’s post after consultation in two days. He claimed that his party would form a government in Punjab

None of the three major parties of the country will win the necessary 169 seats to have a majority in parliament and, therefore, will be unable to form government on their own, leaving it unclear who will be picked to be the country’s next prime minister.

In a speech released Friday, an AI-generated version of Khan claimed victory in the election and called on his supporters to "now show the strength of protecting your vote."

Khan, who has been behind bars since August, has been using AI to get messages out to supporters. "You kept my trust, and your massive turnout has stunned everyone," the AI voice said in the video.

Khan’s opponent, former Pak Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, claimed that his PMLN party had emerged with the largest share. He admitted that his party did not have the "majority to form a government" and was looking for coalition partners.

Sharif, who once saw one of his terms end in a military coup, is considered by analysts to be favored by the country’s military establishment. The military has previously denied backing Sharif.

Speaking on Saturday, Pakistain’s Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir said: "The nation needs stable hands and a healing touch to move on from the politics of anarchy and polarization which does not suit a progressive country of 250 million people."

"Pakistain’s diverse polity and pluralism will be well-represented by a unified government of all democratic forces imbibed with national purpose," Munir added.

Vote counting in Pakistan hit by unexpected delays after millions cast their ballot in controversial general election
[CNN] Vote counting in Pakistan’s general election has been hit by unexpected delays after millions cast their ballot in a race in which old dynasties are vying for power while the country’s widely popular former leader languishes behind bars.

There had been no final result as of early Friday evening, more than 24 hours after polls closed. Pakistan’s Election Commission on Friday said it had given “instructions to ensure immediate declaration of results.”

With 156 out of the 266 contested seats counted, independent candidates were in the lead with 62 seats. The majority of the independents are affiliated with the party of imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The much-anticipated vote, already delayed for months, comes as the country of 220 million faces mounting challenges – from economic uncertainty and frequent militant attacks, to climate catastrophes that are putting its most vulnerable at risk.

Police in Pakistan’s capital announced a ban on gatherings as vote counting continued. Islamabad police imposed Section 144 in the city, which prohibits gatherings of more than four people. “Legal action will be taken in case of any disturbance,” the police force wrote in a post on X on Friday.

Khan’s party earlier accused authorities of delaying results in an attempt to rig the vote, accusations they have denied.

“This is the second half of counting & the point when manipulation takes place,” Khan’s PTI said in a statement Thursday, adding it was “clearly leading” in 114 constituencies across the country.

Pakistan’s National Assembly consists of 336 seats, of which 266 are decided through direct voting on polling day.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan described the “lack of transparency” surrounding the delay in announcing the election results as “deeply concerning.”

Pakistan army urges unity as ex-PMs both declare election win
[BBC] Pakistan's powerful army chief has urged the country to leave "anarchy and polarisation" behind as two ex-prime ministers declared victory in an election that has defied expectations.

With most results in, independent candidates linked to jailed former PM Imran Khan have won most seats.

But Nawaz Sharif, another ex-PM widely seen as having the army's backing, has urged others to join him in coalition.

Officials have also rejected Western criticism of how the election was run.

With no clear outcome, General Asim Munir called on all parties to show maturity and unity, saying the politics of polarisation did "not suit a progressive country of 250 million people".

On Monday, Samaher Esmail, 46, was taken from her home in the West Bank and detained. The Israeli military said she had been arrested for "incitement on social media" and held for questioning.

"Just processing this information," White House spokesperson John Kirby said at a presser Thursday. "We want to know more about the reasons here."

He said the US was taking the matter seriously.

"We’ll be talking to our Israeli counterparts trying to get more information here, more context about what happened," he said.

The Alaghas are among fewer than 50 US citizens known to still be trying to leave sealed-off Gaza, as the Israel-Hamas war enters its fifth month. Numerous other US green-card holders and close relatives of the citizens and permanent residents also are still struggling and unable to leave, despite US requests, according to their American families and advocates.

Cousin Yasmeen Elagha, a law student at Northwestern University, said Israeli forces entered the family home in the community of al-Muwasi, near the southern city of Khan Younis, around 5 a.m. Gaza time on Thursday.

The soldiers tied up and blindfolded the women and kiddies in the family, and placed them outside the home, the cousin said.

Footage shows medication packages in Gaza tunnel where hostages were held
[IsraelTimes] Boxes of drugs include anti-fungal vaginal tablets, insulin syringes and hypothyroidism treatment, as Israel awaits proof of delivery of medicine weeks after deal.

A video released by the IDF of a Hamas tunnel deep below Khan Younis where hostages were allegedly held shows containers of medications.

The military said Wednesday that a total of 12 hostages were held in a cell in the tunnel at different times, three of whom have since returned to Israel. A rest area and bathrooms for the terrorists guarding the captives were also found.

There is no narration during the part of the video in which the drug packages are shown. From the video, it is impossible to tell how many boxes are still filled with medication or to see their expiration dates, but other information, such as the type of medicine and where it was acquired, can be made out.

The IDF declined to provide any additional information that could shed light on this portion of the video. The Prime Minister’s Office also refused to comment.

The video’s release comes as there continues to be no update on whether the terms of a deal announced by Qatar on January 16 for the delivery of medication to hostages were carried out. Beginning on January 17, medications were supposed to be supplied to the hostages in return for a large amount of medical supplies and other aid for Gazans.

The Times of Israel was unable to establish whether the medication in the video was part of the supply transferred after inspection by Israel into the Strip for the hostages last month.

As part of the deal, Israel demanded visual proof that the relevant medications reached each hostage. The Red Thingy, which has been accused of shirking its responsibility to ensure medical care for the kidnapped Israelis, refused involvement in the delivery of medications. The international humanitarian organization has also not visited the hostages in the four months since October 7.

La Belle France, which played a major role in brokering the agreement, says it has begun to pressure Qatar

captivity yet to bear fruit.

"All the hostages need medicines and medical care to survive. The only way to ensure their survival is to free them immediately," said Prof. Hagai Levine, head of the medical and resilience team of the Hostages and Missing Families Forum.

Some of the medication packages found in the tunnel appear to be crumpled and empty, while others are closed and in what looks like good shape.

It is not known whether these medications were given to the hostages, were used by their captors, or both.

Nili Margalit, a Soroka Medical Center nurse who was one of over 100 hostages released in November, said in a Hebrew-language television interview last month that she had limited access to medication while trying to care for the sick and elderly hostages who were with her.

She recounted that she identified herself as a nurse to the gunnies and they allowed her to make a list of essential medications for the hostages. The gunnies supplied her with some of the medications, but never in enough quantities. Margalit recounted being as forceful as she could in persuading the captors to obtain more supplies.

Some of the drugs are indicated for use by women only. One box is labeled "For UNRWA use, not for sale," referring to the UN agency for Paleostinian refugees.

One box seen in the video is for clotrimazole anti-fungal vaginal tablets, which are inserted intra-vaginally to treat yeast infections. There is also a package for miconazole nitrate cream, a topical treatment for fungal skin infections like ringworm and conditions commonly known as athlete’s foot and jock itch. The cream can also be used for yeast infections of the skin or of the vagina.

There is what appears to be an empty box for Pantinol cream, which is used to treat skin abrasions, cuts and inflammation, as well as surgical wounds. It is also indicated for nipple inflammation due to breastfeeding.

One can see in the video two to three Citoswabs, which are used for collecting viral specimens, including for COVID-19.

Also visible is a plastic bag filled with several insulin syringes. There is also a box labeled for Levothyroxine, a medication for treating hypothyroidism, a condition in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone to release into the bloodstream.

Diabetes and hypothyroidism are among the many chronic illnesses listed in a document the medical and resilience team of the Hostages and Missing Families Forum presented to the International Committee of the Red Thingy a week after the initial more than 250 hostages were seized and taken to Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. on October 7.

Many hostages sustained serious injuries as they were taken captive. It is still unknown whether those hostages received proper care. Some of those hostages, as well as many others, suffer from ongoing illnesses and medical conditions that require daily medications and regular medical supervision.

In addition to diabetes and hypothyroidism, other illnesses of the hostages include cancer, heart failure, chronic kidney disease, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke, multiple sclerosis, cardiac arrhythmias, hypertension, asthma, allergies, glaucoma and psychiatric disorders.

The forum’s medical and resilience team provided the ICRC with a list of more than 100 medications required by the hostages. The Israeli government has also used this list in its attempt to negotiate the transfer of the crucial drugs to the hostages.

Strip’s southern city of Rafah, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated that such a campaign was forthcoming.
What does the President of Mexico say?
Netanyahu announced Friday that he had ordered the Israeli military to present the cabinet with a plan to both evacuate the city’s civilian population — augmented by over one million refugees from the strip’s north and center — and destroy Hamas
...the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
’s remaining battalions in the area.

According to Netanyahu, an assault on Rafah is critical to completing Israel’s stated war aim of dismantling Hamas. Earlier in the week, the premier rejected Hamas’s "delusional" terms for a hostage deal, which included a full withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Strip and the release of hundreds of hard boyz serving life sentences.

"There is limited space and great risk in putting Rafah under further military escalation due to the growing number of Paleostinians there," Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said on Saturday during a press briefing, warning that an escalation would have "dire consequences."

The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that Egyptian officials warned the decades-long peace treaty between Egypt and Israel could be suspended if Israel Defense Forces’ troops enter Rafah, or if any of Rafah’s refugees are forced southward into the Sinai Peninsula.
In other words, it’s not a peace treaty, but merely a longer than usual hudna.
In addition, Saudi Arabia — which has already conditioned normalization with Israel on an end to hostilities and steps toward the establishment of a Palestinian state — issued a statement Saturday warning of “the extremely dangerous repercussions of storming and targeting the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip,” given the city being “the last refuge for hundreds of thousands of people.”
It appears the Saudis don’t need Israeli protection from Iran after all.
Rooters reported that in an effort to forestall a massive influx of refugees, Egypt has over the past two weeks stationed some 40 tanks near its border with Gazoo, after having reinforced the border wall since the beginning of hostilities, both structurally and with surveillance equipment.

On Friday, Israel’s Channel 12 also reported that IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi was opposed to Netanyahu’s plan for a swift Rafah campaign, saying that although the military is technically capable of such an operation, it would be unwise to undertake it without coordination with the Egyptians and plans for the city’s massive refugee population.

Netanyahu, according to the report, thinks the IDF would need to wrap up a Rafah campaign by the March 10 start of Ramadan, the Moslem holy month.

Head of US-backed forces in Syria seeks more air defense after deadly drone strike

Mazloum Abdi, commander of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, said his force considered it "a dangerous development when our camps are targeted in drone attacks by factions backed by Iran."

Bases across Syria’s east and northeast hosting US troops and SDF fighters have faced a slew of drone and rocket attacks as pro-Iran militias declaring support for the Paleostinians seek to attack US and Western interests and fight Israel.

A dronezap by Iran-backed turbans on a US outpost in Jordan on January 28 killed three US forces. On February 4, the SDF said an explosive drone attack by Iran-backed gangs in eastern Syria killed six of their fighters.

Asked whether he had requested additional military backing to fend off such attacks, Abdi said his Kurdish-led force would "require technical capabilities and an increase in the aerial defensive systems" deployed in northeast Syria.

"From [the US] side, they confirmed they would try and expend efforts to prevent these attacks," he told Rooters.

In Washington, the Pentagon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Spearheaded by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) and including Arab fighters, the SDF has been a major partner for the US-led coalition against Islamic State over the last decade. It holds a quarter of Syria, including oil fields and areas where some 900 US troops are deployed.

Following rumors that the US was considering pulling those troops out, Abdi said he had received reassurances from the State Department, White House and the Pentagon that their mission would continue.

But he said a withdrawal "is possible in the future... Truthfully, we don’t ask for American troops to stay here forever. That’s not possible."

Abdi warned that any US troop pull-out would "multiply several times over" the threats that the SDF faces from Iran-backed troops, Islamic State and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
, which considers the YPG and the SDF by extension to be "terrorist" groups.

"If American forces do withdraw, depending on the circumstances, naturally we will go towards the plans that suit the interests of our people and the make-up of the region," Abdi added.

But that would not include a long-term partnership with the Syrian armed forces, which he said did not have the capacity to defend against IS.

#1  The neocon idea of transforming Muslim countries into democracies is, fortunately, dead.

#2  Au contraire Grom, the idea of allowing the shallow ideologues of our liberal institutions to think they can be transformative of Islamic nations creates a never ending stream of cash for those smart enough to tell them what they want to hear.

United States is considering a scenario for withdrawing troops from Iraq and Syria within 90 days
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin.

US presidential electioneering.

US media reports that preparations are now underway for a full or partial withdrawal of US and coalition troops from Syria and Iraq, according to several senior US Defense Department officials.

Officials explained that the decision was made after a variety of factors, including growing pressure and escalating attacks Iran-backed militias in the region.

A troop withdrawal could take up to 90 days, depending on its size, scope and urgency.

Preparations for the withdrawal of troops were not officially announced, but tomorrow there should be a meeting between the leadership of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense and representatives of the Pentagon, where they will discuss the parameters for the withdrawal of troops. With the withdrawal of troops from Iraq, maintaining a presence in Northern Syria will become difficult for the United States.

One option is to urgently pump up the local Kurds with resources and weapons in order to preserve the possibility of further use of the Kurdish factor. Without the US, Kurdish autonomy in Northern Syria will quickly collapse.

Implementation of this decision would mean Iran's biggest strategic victory in years, for which it would easily pay in material and human costs.

Since Washington (and even more so in Tel Aviv) understands this, the United States will most likely delay the withdrawal process, plus internal opposition to the decision to withdraw troops, if it is made, is possible.

PS. The shelling of American bases in Syria and Iraq continues. Attacks on ships in the Red Sea continue. Sanctions and strikes have not solved any of the US strategic problems in the region.

#2  While it’s good to see us pulling out of Syria, the Biden crew is not who I would pick to execute a withdrawal.

#4  Order to be given on Day 89 without advance preparation. Hamassholes must be low on ordinance.
