Women Banned From Visiting Band-e-Amir National Park
[ToloNews] Mohammad Khaled Hanafi, the acting Minister of Virtue and Vice, asked all religious holy mans and security agencies to forbid women from visiting Amir Band National Park at a meeting in Bamiyan
...a place in Afghanistan that used to have some historically interesting statues of the Buddha carved into a mountainside. Then the holy men showed up and now all they have is some big holes...
Hanafi said that the decision was taken because of women's non-observance of hijab and added that women should be prevented from entering this park until a procedure is prepared.

The acting Minister of Virtue and Vice stated that going on a trip is not obligatory.

"Women and our sisters cannot go to Band-e-Amir until we agree on a principle. The security agencies, elders and the inspectors should take action in this regard. Going for sightseeing is not obligatory," Hanafi said.

However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
religious holy mans in Bamiyan said that these women come to the park from outside Bamyian, and the government itself should do something about it.

"There are complaints about the lack of hijab or bad hijab, these are not Bamiyan residents. They come here from other places, from other provinces or outside of Afghanistan," said Sayed Nasrullah Waezi, head of the Bamiyan Shia Ulema Council.

"There are dozens like this in every province, which is why problems have arisen, the enemy of Islam has gained courage and is finally pointing to Mullah,(?)" said Mohammad Asif Burhan, a religious holy man in Bamiyan.

Band-e-Amir National Park is one of the tourist spots in Bamyian, which was introduced as the first national park in the country in 2009, and since then it attracts thousands of visitors each year.

Iranian journalist detained by Taliban released
[TehranTimes] Iranian photojournalist Mohammad Hossein Velayati who were tossed into the calaboose in Afghanistan was released on Friday night.

Velayati, who works for the Tasnim news agency, was held captive by the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
for a week before being freed. He was handed over to the Iranian embassy in Kabul.

Velayati’s release has been verified by Bilal Karimi, the Taliban’s deputy front man.

Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian expressed optimism that diplomatic efforts resulted in the speedy release of the photojournalist.

"Intensive diplomatic and consular efforts are underway to return home Mr. Mohammad Hossein Velayati, the photographer of Tasnim news agency," Amir Abdollahian said in a post on X on Friday.

Nasser Kanaani, the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, had said on Wednesday that Iran’s diplomatic apparatus was working with the necessary Afghan authorities to secure his release. Hassan Kazemi Qomi, Iran’s special envoy for Afghanistan, had also noted that the Iranian mission in Kabul was taking the situation seriously.

On Tuesday, MP Fadahossein Maleki had also raised worry over the incident in a joint session of the Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee with Foreign Ministry officials. Maleki said members of the committee met with the Foreign Minister and a few of his deputies.

The incarceration of a nation’s photojournalist in Afghanistan was one of the session’s major issues, he said.

Velayati was nabbed at Kabul Airport while he was returning home.

He had spent 10 days in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. He had entered the country lawfully.

In August 2021, the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan after "peace talks" between Washington, which ultimately resulted in the quick departure of U.S. and NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure....
troops after their disastrous 20-year presence in the guise of "war on terror" and "nation building."

The Taliban’s rule is not yet recognized by any nation. The Taliban have been fighting to stem a worsening economic disaster ever since they took control.

Panjshir’s Governor Rejects Claims of Human Rights Violations
“Nuh uh,” he said, “and pshaw!”
[ToloNews] Panjshir province governor Mohammad Agha Hakim rejected the claims of international institutions and organizations regarding the violation of human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
in this province.

In an interview with TOLOnews, Hakim said that there have been no human rights violations in Panjshir province, and currently Panjshir is the safest province and there is no group to make it unsafe.

"These reports are definitely untrue because they get these reports from the people and they are in line with the opposition," he said.

This official of the Islamic Emirate noted that for ensuring security of the province, 300 outposts and around 10,000 forces have been assigned to Panjshir.

"There are about 300 security outposts in the four surrounding areas of Panjshir, because Panjshir is a province that has borders with seven neighboring countries," Hakim noted.

In a part of his speech, the governor of Panjshir said that they are trying to prevent schools from turning into security outposts in this province.

"We decided that every school should be evacuated and we thank God that 95% of the schools have been evacuated," the governor further stated.

Mohammad Agha Hakim urged the people who left Panjshir after the reestablishment of the Islamic Emirate to return.

Sudanese military leader arrives in Port Sudan, ahead of regional tour
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Army, arrived in Port Sudan on the Red Sea on Thursday evening. This followed a brief stopover in Atbara of the River Nile State.

Earlier on Thursday, Burhan executed a daring military manoeuvre that left the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) perplexed. He successfully reached the Wadi Seidna army air base in Omdurman situated 22 kilometres north of Khartoum where he was at the army headquarters.

Despite previous assertions by RSF leaders that he was confined to the basement of the army command in Khartoum, Burhan’s actions defied these claims.

After his arrival in Omdurman, al-Burhan conducted inspections of army forces in both the Karari military area and the Wadi Seidna Air Base. Subsequently, he was transported via military helicopter to the artillery corps command in Atbara, approximately 300 kilometres north of Khartoum.

Thursday evening saw Burhan’s arrival in Port Sudan, an eastern city on the Red Sea. During this visit, he inspected the stationed army forces and engaged with a group of ministers. Port Sudan has functioned as the administrative capital since the conflict erupted in mid-April.

The unexpected nature of these events has ignited widespread speculation, with individuals attempting to decipher how Burhan’s actions may have impacted the war’s dynamics.

#1  The fact that the Government has moved to Port Sudan, a relatively safe spot for the Arab leadership in far eastern Sudan, should not escape notice. Simply put, Khartoum/Omdurman is unsafe. That Burhan would inspect Atbara, considered a part of the Arab homeland and a relatively safe spot for Arab Sudanese, is also of interest. There are already strong indications that the Arab army has lost control of Nyala and South Darfur to its African Muslim population. Should the Sudanese Army lose El Fasher, in north Darfur, the jig would be up and Sudan would be partitioned once again.

War and hunger could destroy Sudan, says UN relief chief. Really.
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The war in Sudan is fueling a humanitarian emergency of epic proportions while hunger, disease and displacement left in its wake now threatens to consume the entire country, a United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
official said.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Martin Griffiths said intense fighting that has ravaged in Khartoum and Darfur since mid-April has spread to Kordofan.

"In South Kordofan’s capital, Kadugli, food stocks have been fully depleted, as festivities and road blockages prevent aid workers from reaching the hungry," he said.

In West Kordofan’s capital, El Fula, humanitarian offices have been ransacked and supplies looted, according to the top UN official.

"I am also extremely worried about the safety of civilians in Al Jazira State, as the conflict moves closer to Sudan’s breadbasket," he explained.

Niger army ordered to move to maximum readiness
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The armed forces of Niger must go into maximum readiness mode. Such an order was given to the country's army by the head of the defense headquarters Moussa Salau Barmu.

“From the moment you receive this message, bring all your personnel to a state of maximum readiness,” RIA Novosti quotes Barma.

He explained that such a decision was made in order to adequately respond to possible aggression against Niger.

As reported by IA Regnum , a military coup in Niger took place at the end of July. The presidential guard blocked the head of state Mohamed Bazum in the residence and announced his overthrow.

Later, the head of the National Council for the Defense of the Fatherland, ruling in Niger after the coup d'état, General Abdurahman Tchiani, agreed to start negotiations with the leaders of the Economic Community of West African Countries (ECOWAS). He explained to the delegation from Nigeria that the coup was conceived with the best of intentions to prevent an imminent threat to the two countries.

An ECOWAS delegation left Niger on August 20 after talks with the rebels failed. During the meeting, the delegation demanded the immediate return of power to President Bazum, who had been ousted by the rebels. Members of the military council of Niger rejected this demand.

Tchiani said on August 25 that military forces from Mali and Burkina Faso would be allowed to operate in Niger in the event of a foreign invasion.

In Niger, the rebels clarified that only the French ambassador was being expelled

The demand to leave Niger concerns only French Ambassador Sylvain Itte. This clarification was made on August 26 by an adviser to the head of the National Council for the Salvation of the Motherland (NCSR), formed by the rebels of Niger, reports Al Hadath TV channel.

According to the adviser, Itta has been ordered to leave Niger within 48 hours. The adviser denied the information disseminated by a number of media, including Agence France Presse (AFP), about the expulsion of the ambassadors of Germany, the United States and Nigeria from Niger.

The AFP agency, in turn, explained on the social network X (formerly Twitter) that the statements that the ambassadors of Germany, Nigeria and the United States in Niger were ordered to leave the country are untrue. These messages will be deleted.

Earlier, IA Regnum reported that the military, who came to power in Niger, put forward a demand to the German ambassador in Niamey to leave the country within 48 hours.

The rebels who came to power in Niger put forward a similar demand against the French ambassador in Niamey, Sylvain Itte. The diplomat was ordered to leave Niger within 48 hours.

At the same time, the demand of the Niger rebels to the French ambassador in Niamey to leave the country was taken into account in Paris and indicated that the military that came to power did not have the authority to make such a request.

Aden citizens scrambling to get ice blocks for cooling as electricity provision collapses
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Activists on the "X" platform have shared pictures showing dozens of citizens queuing up to buy ice in the Crater area of Aden province in southern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, which is controlled by the Saudi-led coalition.

This comes in conjunction with the angry protests against the deteriorating economic conditions and the electricity service in the city, where the hours of power outages reached to more than nine hours, in light of the high summer temperature.

Ice block prices have risen dramatically in recent days, with a kilo of ice costing around 2,000 riyals in Aden and 4,000 riyals in Zinjibar city, the capital of Abayn province.

In a post on the X platform during the past hours, media activist Majed al-Daari denied the claims of the local authorities to reduce the hours of power outages to four hours, affirming that six hours have passed and electricity has not returned to the citizens in Crater.

Al-Daari added that "the tricks of the authorities in Aden by announcing the reduction of hours of power outages are an open attempt to ease the anger of the local uprising in the city."

Southern Transitional Council calls for confrontation against Saudi moves in Hadhramaut
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) has on Saturday pushed tribal groups to confront Saudi moves in Hadhramaut province, eastern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
The STC organized a massive consultative meeting for the tribes of Yafea Hadhramaut that are loyal to it, in order to discuss what it called "challenges and conspiracies targeting Hadhramaut and seeking to drag it into projects far from its southern strategic depth."

The head of the STC in Hadhramaut, Saeed Ahmed al-Muhammadi, confirmed that the meeting aimed to "study and consult in order to respond to developments in the situation in Hadhramaut and the south in general with a unified position in the face of conspiracies against the province."

This comes after Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
announced on June 20,l the establishment of the so-called "Hadhramaut Council", composed from various tribes of the Hadhramaut valley and desert districts.

With the creation of the Council, Saudi Arabia presumably aims to attempt to take back Hadhramaut from Emirati and STC control.

Saudi Arabia and the UAE are officially allied in the conflict in Yemen, both being part of the coalition that invaded Yemen in 2015 to try defeat the National Salvation Government of Sana’a. However,
corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds...
the Emirates soon proved to have plans for the secession of southern Yemen as a satellite state of sorts, while Saudi Arabia wants to keep Yemen unified under a single pro-Saudi government. This has led to severe disagreements between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, sometimes translated into actual conflict and deadly festivities between the Saudi-backed forces and Emirati-backed separatist units such as the STC.

Europe
Burnt copies of the Koran were sent to a mosque in Uppsala, Sweden
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Representatives of a mosque in Uppsala, Sweden received several burned copies of the Koran. This was reported on August 26 by the newspaper Aftonbladet.

“Several members of the board of the mosque in Uppsala were sent burnt Qurans to their home addresses,” the publication says .
Their co-religionists in the area must have gone above and beyond in annoying the natives... unless one of their own faked the incident.
Surveillance cameras were installed in the mosque after the incident.

As IA Regnum reported , on August 21, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian noted that cases of burning the Koran have become more frequent in Sweden and Denmark, and announced the plans of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation countries to consider imposing an embargo on the purchase of goods from the two Scandinavian countries.

A series of actions with the burning of the Koran began on June 28, when the police of Stockholm on the Islamic holiday Eid al-Adha allowed such an action to be carried out. Initially, the organizers were refused due to possible threats and terrorist attacks, but they appealed the decision in court.

The action aroused the indignation of Islamic countries - in Baghdad, protesters broke into the territory of the Swedish embassy and demanded the expulsion of the ambassador of the kingdom from the country. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called the action with the burning of the Koran vile. He stated that the enemies of Islam and humanity are trying to arrange provocations under the protection of the police.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg considered the burning of the Koran legal . He stated that he understands the feelings and emotions of people, but believes that the burning was not legally illegal by the Stockholm authorities. The Secretary General noted that he considers the right of people to disagree with freedom of expression.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the action was another provocative act of Islamophobia, covered up by arguments about freedom of speech and democracy. The department emphasized that "the price of such a democracy is worthless," which in fact led to arbitrariness and permissiveness.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin called disrespect for the Koran a crime. During a visit to the Juma mosque in Derbent, he stressed that the Koran is a shrine for Muslims and for many other people, but in some countries religious feelings are not respected.

Since then, a number of similar actions have taken place in Sweden, Denmark, and also the Netherlands. On August 22, Salvan Momika, the organizer of the Koran burning events in Sweden, submitted 12 applications for new similar events. According to local media, the authorities considered the appeals for several days. Momika planned to burn the Muslim holy book for three weeks in Stockholm, Malmö and Örebro.

Sweden decides not to ban the burning of religious books

The Swedish authorities do not plan to impose a ban on the burning of religious books after Denmark. This was announced by the Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson , as SVT TV channel reported .

“I have a lot of respect for what Denmark is doing right now. Doing exactly the same as in Denmark would in all likelihood require amending the constitution, so this is not the best way for Sweden,” he said at a press conference in Harpsund.

Danish Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard said August 25 that the authorities intend to ban the burning of religious books. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said the proposal sends "an important political signal to the world."

As IA Regnum reported, on July 26, a radical group near the Turkish embassy in Copenhagen held a rally with the burning of the holy book of Muslims, the Koran, for the second time in a day. A few hours earlier, members of the same radical group burned the holy book of Muslims at the Egyptian diplomatic mission.

The admission of public desecration of the Torah and the Bible in Stockholm by the Swedish authorities has been criticized by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry. The rally in the capital of Sweden, which had previously been allowed by the police and where it was planned to burn religious books, took place near the Israeli embassy on July 15.

On July 5, the Swedish police received three more requests for religious book burnings. One of the applications was submitted by a woman who wants to burn the Koran at a mosque in Stockholm as soon as possible.

Permission to hold an action in Helsingborg in southern Sweden , in which a citizen planned to burn religious texts on July 12, was issued by the police.

In Stockholm on June 28, a demonstration with the burning of the Koran was allowed to take place near the mosque.

PTI leaders face another case over anti-state rhetoric
[GEO.TV] The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, Lahore, on Saturday lodged yet another case against Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) big shots for launching a false campaign against the state institutions on social media platforms.

Former finance minister Hammad Azhar, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, former National Assembly deputy speaker Qasim Suri, former Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Senator Azam Swati, Istehkam-e-Pakistain Party’s (IPP) Ali Zaidi and former PTI senior vice president Fawad Chaudhry were among those nominated in the case.

According to the FIA officials, all the leaders booked in the case were summoned last month for an explanation but none of them appeared before the investigation agency. "Neither they submitted their reply in this regard."

In view of this situation, a case has been registered against the suspects in the light of evidence and their statements. "Teams have been formed to arrest the suspects," said the FIA officials.

It is pertinent to mention here that Swati was booked in multiple cases across the country for his controversial tweets against senior military officers.

Initially, the senator was arrested by the FIA on October 13, 2022, after he posted a hateful and threatening message against the then-army chief, judiciary, and other state institutions on his official Twitter account.

Following the attacks on the military installations, including Lahore Corps Commander House (Jinnah House) and General Headquarters (GHQ), the PTI leadership was facing a number of cases, including sedition and terrorism cases.

The ‘game’ of human trafficking on social networks
Long. From July, but still interesting, I think. A taste:
[Dawn] In the absence of strict checks, agents freely advertise services to "attract customers" via TikTok, YouTube and Facebook.

"Great game of Baba Haji. [Our] group has reached Italia non-stop. The game is direct. We reached Italia in 8 to 9 hours ... The trip was great and so is the game," said a man with his smartphone’s selfie camera turned on as he attested to the "quality service" of a human trafficker who transported him illegally from Romania.

He made the video while the rest of his group members, around 10 in total, disembarked from a van. The 16-second-long clip posted on April 30 has over two million views and 17,000 likes.

This was one of the 53 videos posted by the account @buttgujratwale. The account, apparently active since April, has over 19,000 followers and 164,000 likes on its videos.

The account, like several others, is operated by a human trafficker active on TikTok. While most traffickers keep their dealings covert, some have ventured to exploit the limitless reach of social media.

They use these platforms to advertise their services to potential clients who are contemplating taking these perilous journeys. The videos work as a testimonial to their "foolproof services".

In absence of strict checks, agents freely advertise services, ’attract customers’ via TikTok, YouTube, etc

These traffickers move people illegally across Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and then put them on camera to say how hassle-free the journey was. These reviews convince more people who then contact the trafficker.

Apparently, their marketing is quite effective. The video mentioned above has 408 comments, many of them asking for more details about the journey and the cost.

The administrators of these accounts direct inquisitive customers to TikTok’s inbox or ask them to contact the WhatsApp number present in their bio.

Top Dutch court confirms Gantz can’t be sued for civilian deaths in 2014 Gaza strike
A strike against the use of universal jurisdiction by national courts in the soft jihad of the law against Israel... and others.
[IsraelTimes] Ex-Defense Minister hails Israel’s ’strong and independent judicial system,’ as ruling upholds findings that senior IDF officers enjoy ’functional immunity’ from civil proceedings in Netherlands

The Dutch Supreme Court on Friday upheld a ruling that a Paleostinian man cannot sue Israel’s former defense minister and another former senior military officer over their roles in a deadly 2014 Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
The highest Dutch court confirmed findings by judges in two lower courts that Benny Gantz
...a leader of the center-left opposition to Bibi Netanyahu. In recent elections he and his party were clients of Barack Obama’s favourite strategist, Joel Benenson, who also guided Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign...
and former Air Force Commander Amir Eshel
...who has actually avoided a political career, unlike former PM General Gantz...
are protected from civil proceedings in the Netherlands because they have "functional immunity."

The long-running case was brought by Ismail Ziada, who lost six members of his family in the airstrike that lawyers for the two Israelis argued was part of an Israeli military operation during the 2014 Gaza war between Israel and Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, terror group.

Ziada, who also has Dutch citizenship, wanted the court to order Gantz and Eshel to pay damages of 600,000 euros ($650,000). His legal team argued that the men didn’t have immunity because their actions amounted to war crimes.

In a written reaction, Ziada said he was "disappointed and angered" by the Supreme Court ruling and is considering appealing to the European Court of Human Rights.

"The court has once again chosen to put politics over people and blocked access to justice. Today’s ruling only deepens the injustice we have suffered," he added.

Israel’s Justice Ministry told a lower Dutch court that an internal Israeli military investigation determined the airstrike had killed four Paleostinians hiding in the house. It said the attack was permissible under international law.
Indeed.
Gaza’s Hamas rulers themselves have said that two of their fighters were in the building.
Q.E.D.
Gantz thanked his country’s justice and foreign ministries for leading "the push that led to the dismissal of the lawsuit against me and against the former Air Force Commander Major General (ret.) Amir Eshel in the Netherlands."

Gantz — who was military chief of staff at the time of the airstrike in Gaza — and Eshel had immunity because they were carrying out Israeli government policies, Dutch courts in The Hague ruled. The Supreme Court agreed in a short written ruling issued Friday.

Gantz is now head of the centrist opposition party National Unity in the Knesset. Eshel, a former director-general of the Defense Ministry when Gantz served as defense minister from 2020 to late last year, was named this month as a senior fellow at the hawkish Washington-based Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

Gantz welcomed the dismissal of the lawsuit, crediting what he described as Israel’s "strong and independent judicial system" that protects Israeli soldiers and commanders "even in front of international courts."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s hardline government is currently pushing to overhaul the country’s judicial system and weaken the Supreme Court, a move that the security establishment has worried could render the country more vulnerable to international prosecution.

"As the system protects us — it is our duty to protect it and preserve its strength and independence," Gantz said.

Israel said it launched the 2014 operation to stop rocket fire against its citizens and destroy tunnels used for smuggling weapons and bully boys. The conflict, known as Operation Protective Edge in Israel, left 2,251 dead on the Paleostinian side, most of them civilians,
...explained by the habit of Hamas, et al, of storing war materiel and working spaces amid and underneath civilian buildings like apartment blocks and schools. The Geneva Conventions specifically place the responsibility for resulting civilian casualties on those using them as a shield....
and 74 on the Israeli side, most of them soldiers.
Low Israeli casualties are explained by Israeli society choosing to spend a great deal of money and effort to harden civilian sites and train civilians to seek shelter when the air raid sirens go off, despite the Gazans deliberately targetting civilian rather than military sites, targetting civilians being contrary to the Geneva Conventions. Also, Gazan rocketeers are really bad at hitting their targets — on average a quarter of their rockets and missiles come straight back down in the Strip.

Potential heir to Mahmoud Abbas: The Palestinian leader who survived the death of Palestine
[IsraelTimes] What would it mean for Hussein al-Sheikh to lead a people whose dream of independence is no longer alive?

Paleostinian politician Hussein al-Sheikh strode into a fortified conference room in the towering Tel Aviv headquarters of Israel’s Defense Ministry in February 2022. Few Paleostinians enter the inner sanctum of Israel’s military, but, as Sheikh recalled, he was greeted by the top army brass and the leadership of the secretive Shin Bet intelligence apparatus.

The tall, affable Sheikh — whose salt-and-pepper hair is slicked back with gel — serves as the Paleostinian Authority’s main go-between with Israel in the occupied West Bank. He speaks fluent Hebrew, wears finely tailored suits, and urges cooperating, not clashing, with Israel. Once a teenage activist locked away

Turkish authorities deport 350 Syrian refugees to Syria, maim 2 going other way, Ottoman proxies stab Kurdush lad
[NPASyria] Ottoman Turkish authorities deported on Saturday more than 350 Syrian refugees to Syria via two border crossings in northwestern and northern the country.

A source in Tel Abyad border crossing, northern Raqqa Governorate, northern Syria, told North Press that the Ottoman Turkish authorities handed over 90 Syrian refugees, including 14 women and two children to Military Police, affiliated with Ottoman Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka Syrian National Army (SNA), via Tel Abyad crossing.

Additionally, the Ottoman Turkish authorities deported 215 Syrian refugees, including 53 women with their children, to area held by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else

Front) in Idlib Governorate, northwest Syria, according to the source.

The deportation process occurred after obtaining all their identification documents, and fingerprints, to prevent them from returning permanently to Ottoman Turkish territory.

The number of deportees from Tel Abyad and Bab al-Salama border crossings for this month exceeded 12,350 Syrian refugees amid forecasts of surging the next month’s number according to an estimated statistic obtained from the border crossing by North Press.

Turkish border guards injure Syrian asylum seekers in northern Syria

[NPASyria] On Saturday, a woman and a young man were injured by Turkish border guards while attempting to cross the border near the town of Mabrouka in the northern countryside of the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), northern Syria. In addition, nine others were detained.

A local source stated that the border guards opened fire at Tarfa al-Aboud, 41, and Fadel al-Shamouri, 25, as they tried to cross towards Turkish territory from the Mabrouka, injuring both of them.

The source further informed North Press that the nine civilians were detained after crossing the border wall and were transported to the monitoring center opposite the city of Ras al-Ain, as they will be transferred to a detention center in Urfa, Turkey.

During August, the number of individuals injured by the Turkish border guards has exceeded 30, including six women, as violations against civilians attempting to cross into Turkish territory continue.

Turkish authorities commit many violations against Syrian refugees and asylum-seekers who try to flee the deteriorating economic conditions in Syria by shooting, torturing, and detaining them.

During the first half of 2023, the number of affected Syrian asylum-seekers has reached 452 individuals, including 20 children and 26 women. Tragically, 25 people were killed and 121 others were injured during direct targeting by live bullets while attempting to cross the Syrian-Turkish border.

Militants of SNA faction stab civilian in Syria’s Afrin

[NPASyria] Militants of Jaish al-Sharqiya, affiliated with Ottoman Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka Syrian National Army (SNA), attacked on Saturday a young man in Afrin Region, northwest Syria, stabbing him with knives and storming his family’s house.

This is the third time the young man has been assaulted since four members of his family were killed on the night of Newroz, March 21, by the same faction.

On July 23, a military group affiliated with the Jaish al-Sharqiya, accused of killing members of a Kurdish family, attacked the grandson of the family, that had celebrated the eve of Newroz this year in the town of Jindires in the countryside of Afrin.

The Human Rights Organization in Afrin stated that Death Eaters of this faction assaulted the young man, Nazmi Ashraf Othman, with multiple knife stabs.

They added that the young man lost consciousness as a result of his injuries and was transferred to Bahar Hospital in the city.

The faction had previously attempted to attack the young man on two occasions, one of which involved hitting him with a tile on his back and attempting to run over him with a car, and the other involved threatening the family with death.

According to the Human Rights Organization, the family is appealing for support against the "barbarism and arrogance" of the faction and to convey their suffering to the relevant international human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
organizations in order to pressure the Ottoman Turkish government to curb the practices of armed factions.

U.S. fined $330 million for role in 1980 coup plot in Iran
[TehranTimes] An Iranian court has ordered the U.S. government to pay $330 million in compensation for the physical and mental damages caused during a failed coup attempt known as Nojeh in July 1980.

During a hearing on Saturday, the court ruled that the U.S. government must pay $30 million in compensation for financial and mental damages to the plaintiffs, as well as $300 million in punitive compensation. The verdict was issued after a comprehensive review of the case and a thorough examination of the available documents.

The families of those killed and harmed during the plot filed a complaint against the U.S. government and seven other defendants at the 55th branch of the Justice Administration of Tehran for International Affairs.

The lawsuit was submitted to the court in August 2022, against the United States government, the State Department, the Pentagon, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Treasury Department, the Boeing Company, and James Earl Carter Jr. who served as the country’s president at the time.

“The illegal actions of the U.S. government, its officials, agencies, and one of its private companies (Boeing) in military, financial, and political support of the Nojeh coup and blatant violation of international law and territorial integrity of Iran have caused great pain and suffering,” said the lawyer of the families of the victims.

The failed coup, also known as Operation Neqab, was orchestrated by the U.S. to overthrow the newly established Islamic Republic of Iran in July 1980. Following the exposure of the plot, many individuals involved were arrested, and shortly after, Iraq launched an eight-year war against Iran.

The plot was focused on taking over the Nojeh air base in Iran’s sestern Hamedan province and then start killing hundreds of people from there. It allegedly was also meant to prepare the ground for Iraq’s imminent invasion.

"Their plan was to give the appearance of a coup d'etat to restore the Shah, while the real aim was to provide a pretext to cover the Iraqi invasion. According to the information we received, the conspirators had set up a military camp in [the Iraqi city of] Suleimanieh and planned to ignite a Kurdish revolt and organize demonstrations throughout Iran.

Their strategy was simple: internal disorders would first disperse Iranian military forces so that on the very first day of the Iraqi attack Saddam could occupy the whole western part of the country," the then-Iranian president said when the news of the planned coup broke out.

The Nojeh coup resulted in the death of three people and injury of several others. It was carried out through a foreign council composed of several countries led by the U.S. government and an internal council consisting of some political and military officials and individuals of the previous Iranian government, with Shapour Bakhtiar, the former Prime Minister of the deposed Pahlavi regime, and Colonel Mohammad Bagher Bani-Amiri as its commanders.

The coup was directly executed by the U.S. government and the CIA. Some other foreign countries allied to Washington like Iraq and Jordan also helped carry out the operation.

During the gathering, Manzoor emphasized, "A noteworthy portion of Iranian frozen assets in South Korea, Iraq, and Turkey has been released. These assets are, of course, part of the central bank's reserves and do not belong to the government."

Jumblat: We must sit with Nasrallah for Lebanon's future
[NAHARNET] Former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Wally Jumblat
...Druze politician, head of the Progressive Socialist Party, who's been on every side in Leb at least four times. He'll sell you his friends for a dollar, but family comes higher because of shipping and handling...
has lamented that "no one today wants a settlement" in the country.

"But it is the thing we need the most. A settlement for the sake of the country and not for the sake of any party in this or that camp," Jumblat added, in an interview with al-Akhbar newspaper published Friday.

"I don’t understand the justifications of some Christian parties who are rejecting dialogue. There is no alternative to sitting around a dialogue table. We sit and talk and see what happens afterwards," Jumblat added.

"It is true that Hezbollah has nominated Suleiman Franjieh and is clinging to him, but it is possible to reach a middle-ground solution with it if we sit and talk, instead of prior rejection which amplifies the crisis instead of resolving it," the Druze leader went on to say.

He added that it is possible to negotiate with Hezbollah over "another candidate."

"We must sit with (Hezbollah chief) Sayyed His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
, not only for electing a president but also for the sake of Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
’s future," Jumblat urged.
