Not just Fauxahontas
During an interview Monday on "The Breakfast Show," Sen. Kamala Harris was asked if she smoked weed in college.

Harris replied, "I have. And I inhaled. I did inhale. It was a long time ago, but yes. I just broke loose. I think [marijuana] gives a lot of people joy. And we need more joy in the world." The 2020 presidential candidate added that "it was a joint."

Next, "Charlemagne the God," co-host of "the world’s most dangerous morning show," asked her what music she listened to while getting high. She replied, "Definitely Snoop, Tupac for sure."

There was only one small problem with this answer. A quick google search tells us that Harris graduated from Howard University in 1986 and University of California Law School in 1989. Snoop and Tupac weren’t making music back then.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: 'Reconquistador!'
Last week's most overlooked news was Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez revealing herself as a champion of the "Reconquista" war against Europeans. The Mexican Reconquista movement is an openly admitted effort by Hispanic activists to take "back" California (Southern especially), New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas through immigration and activism. This is one of several driving forces behind allowing illegal immigration.

Ocasio-Cortez (D-Venezuela) dominated news on February 7 appearing at a rally to abolish or defund the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. The same day, Ocasio-Cortez joined other liberal Members of Congress in unveiling her "Green New Deal" (green evidently referring to envy, not the environment).

Almost lost amidst this furor were Ocasio-Cortez's comments that immigration laws should not apply to indigenous people: As reported in the UK's Daily Mail -- with full video shown:

But she vowed Thursday to defund ICE completely and claimed Latinos should be exempt from criminal proceedings and immigration laws because they are descended from Mesoamerican cultures that preceded the United States.

'We are standing on native land,' she claimed, speaking just outside the U.S. Capitol. 'And Latino people are descendants of native people. And we cannot be told, and criminalized, simply because for our identity or our status. Period." [emphasis added]

Vieques Municipal Police seize 2,378 pounds of cocaine
[ICE] SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico ‐ U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), working jointly with the Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Air and Marine Operations (AMO) and the Vieques Municipal Police seized Thursday 2,378 pounds of cocaine south of the island of https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/ice-dhs-partners-vieques-municipal-police-seize-2378-pounds-cocaine. The cocaine has an estimated street value of $25 million approximately.
"HSI is committed to working with our federal, state and local counterparts in an effort to stop the movement of contraband in the Caribbean," said Iván J. Arvelo, special agent in charge of HSI San Juan. "Those involved in drug trafficking should know that the Caribbean is no longer an option to transship narcotics into the United States."

On Feb 7, while investigating a suspicious yola-type vessel in Vieques, HSI and CBP special agents and officers, respectively, learned that a Coast Guard air unit, while on a routine patrol, detected another incoming vessel at approximately 10 nautical miles south of Vieques.

CBP marine interdiction officers responded to the area and initiated a hot pursuit and observed it occupants fleeing the scene upon landing south of Vieques.

HSI special agents contacted the Vieques Municipal Police (VMP) with the exact location of the landing. Upon arriving, the VPM found an abandoned spider vessel with 33 bales containing 888 bricks of cocaine with an approximate weight of 1081 kilograms (2,378 lbs.). The contraband was later released to HSI.

The HSI investigation is ongoing.

Mystery deepens as cops unable to ID human foot that washed up on Vancouver shore
[Fox News]Canadian authorities on Monday said that they were unable to identify the person whose foot was found last year in a blue sock and a gray Nike sneaker that washed up on the Vancouver shoreline.

The foot, which was discovered in September 2018, is the 15th time in just over a decade that a human foot was discovered on the British Columbia shoreline. More than half of those feet were determined to have belonged to people who either died by accident or committed suicide, while the remaining third remain unidentified, according to the B.C. Coroners Service.
I'm beginning to see a pattern.
The coroner's service has determined that the latest foot belonged to a man, but have been unable to match its DNA with any databases. An identification specialist said the foot likely belongs to someone who was under the age of 50.

Chip Diller Andy Watson, spokesperson for the coroner's service, said the agency is "turning to the public for help" after exhausting all "of the available information" that was found at the scene, CBC reported. He insisted that the bizarre trend is not linked to "any sort of suspicious circumstance" and isn't "cause for panic."

Separated migrant families demand millions from US agencies
HOUSTON (AP) ‐ Lawyers for eight immigrant families separated under Trump administration policy filed claims Monday against the U.S. government demanding $6 million each in damages for what they describe as lasting trauma.

The parents accused immigration officers of taking their children away without giving them information and sometimes mocking them or denying them a chance to say goodbye. The claims allege that many children remain traumatized, including a 7-year-old girl who won't sleep without her mother and a 6-year-old boy who is reluctant to eat.

The Trump administration has acknowledged it separated more than 2,000 families last year through the implementation of a zero-tolerance policy intended to crack down on Central American migration at the U.S.-Mexico border. Government watchdogs have also said it's unclear how many families were separated in total because agencies did not keep good enough records as the policy was implemented.

In one claim , a Guatemalan woman alleges she was detained in May with her 5-year-old son in a type of temporary detention facility nicknamed a "hielera," or icebox in Spanish. When they arrived in Arizona, the claim alleges, an immigration officer told her the law had changed, that their children would be taken, and that they would be deported. She says the officer then told her: "Happy Mother's Day."

Enjoyed the series growing up, some good plot lines, and some real yawns. That's all in a little box over there as too many of the actors/tresses have turned out to be real wankers who overshadow their characters too much. #11  Grew up on STOS. Liked STNG a good bit. Sorta kinda liked STDS9. Can't even make myself watch any of the reboots since. Loved B5, having the "movies" use the same cast, sets and writers for what were basically long episodes worked well.

#15  Grew up on STOS, STG2 was ok - if a little tame. Enterprise was also ok and actually had a story arc.
Loved B5 though some of their episodes were really lame. Haven't really seen any of the recent remakes (Discovery?). Always wondered how many times can an alien take over your ship before you invent passwords or any kind of security.
The original Battlestar Galactia was good at the time (see it as pretty campy now that I'm much older...). At the time I also thought BG 1980 was terrible! (shudder!) The remake was also good.
Also like The Expanse. That seems a bit more accurate science-wise.

Ford Adding 500 American Jobs to Chicago Manufacturing Plants
[Breitbart] Ford Motor Company is planning to add about 500 additional American jobs to its manufacturing plants in the Chicago metro area, executives have announced.
The multinational automaker is expected to invest about $1 billion in its Chicago, Illinois, manufacturing plants, a move that will result in 500 additional jobs at its facilities, CNBC notes:

The move will add 500 jobs at Ford’s Chicago-area Assembly and Stamping plants, bringing the total number of employees at the two factories to 5,800, the company said Thursday. Ford is building a new body shop and paint shop at the assembly plants and plans to make major changes to the final assembly area. The company also plans to install some new manufacturing technology, including 3D-printing tools and robots.

Sen; Graham: I Assume Pres. Trump Will Take Congressional Deal, Move Around Money to Get Wall Funding
[Breitbart] On Monday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s "Hannity," Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) stated that he assumes the president will accept the amount of wall funding in the deal struck by the conference committee, which will be short of $5.7 billion, and then move around money to make up the difference.

Graham said, "[W]e’ve allocated money to deal with drug corridors, but there’s also language in the appropriations bill where you can move around $4 billion inside the Department of Defense in the discretion of the secretary and the president. So, there’s well over $4 billion available to the president under current law, in addition to what the Congress will give him in this deal. So, I would assume they would take the money in the deal. It won’t be enough. It’ll be well short of 5.7, and do what we talked about to make up the difference between the appropriated amount and the 5.7."

Turkey orders 1,112 arrested over links to cleric Gulen: CNN Turk
ISTANBUL (Reuters) - Turkey ordered the arrest of 1,112 people over suspected links to the network of U.S.-based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen, who is accused of orchestrating an attempted coup in 2016, broadcaster CNN Turk reported on Tuesday.

The operation was among the biggest that have been launched against alleged supporters of Gulen since the failed putsch, in which 250 people were killed. Gulen, a former ally of President Tayyip Erdogan, has denied involvement in the coup attempt.

CNN Turk said the operation was centered on the capital, Ankara, but was spread across 76 provinces. No further details were immediately available.

More than 77,000 people have been jailed pending trial since the coup attempt and widespread arrests are still routine. Authorities have suspended or sacked 150,000 civil servants and military personnel.

Erdogan’s critics accuse him of using the failed putsch as a pretext to quash dissent. Turkish authorities say the measures are necessary to combat threats to national security.

US-backed Syrian forces battle to capture last ISIL enclave
[Aljazeera] Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) snipers and landmines have slowed a US-backed ground force as it pushes to retake the armed group's last enclave in eastern Syria.

Black-smoke clouds rose over ISIL's final territory in Deir Az Zor province on Monday as coalition fighter jets fired missiles in support of the Kurdish-led militia known as the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The SDF launched an offensive on Saturday attempting to expel about 600 ISIL fighters from a 4sq km area in Baghouz village, near the Iraqi border on the eastern banks of the Euphrates River.

The US-led coalition maintained a steady beat of bombings on the enclave after an early morning ISIL counterattack caused several SDF casualties.

"[ISIL] launched a counterattack on our forces and we are now responding with rockets, air attacks and direct clashes," said SDF spokesman Mustafa Bali.

About 1,500 civilians had fled the enclave on Monday. "It seems there are still many civilians inside Baghouz," Bali said. "We are compelled to go cautiously and accurately in this battle."

Bali said there were "dozens of SDF hostages" captured by ISIL.

7 children human shields among 16 killed in Syria strike on IS holdout

[IsraelTimes] US-led coalition air strikes on the last jihadist pocket in Syria on Monday killed 16 civilians, including at least seven children human shields, a war monitor says.

Nineteen fighters from the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group were also killed in festivities with the coalition-backed Kurdish-led force spearheading the offensive against the jihadists, the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says.
Al Masdar adds:
According to reports, the Syrian Democratic Forces suffered as many as 20 casualties during the battle, as the Islamic State managed to hold their ground throughout the attack.

Fleeing Daesh terrorists resort to dressing as women to evade capture in eastern Syria

[AlMasdar] ISIS fighters are resorting to increasingly desperate measures to disguise themselves in an attempt to escape Kurdish fighters in southeast Syria, an unnamed YPG commander has told the Daily Star.

"You think of it, they do it," the commander said.

"It’s crazy right now, they’re really desperate. They are trying to blend in because there are so many [civilians]," he added.

Earlier, the Syrian Democratic Forces, the umbrella organization which includes the YPG, reported that over 20,000 civilians had fled the area in recent days amid the battle between gunnies and the militia.

The YPG commander confirmed that fighters "have been trying to escape in women’s clothes," explaining that "some of them dress as women because we don’t ask the women to raise their hijab."

Other jihadists resorted to posing as members of civilian families, the commander said. "They go into random families and scare them."

"The families are afraid to say, ’oh no, I don’t know him’. They also say, ’they forced me, let me pass by and I will tell you where they are’. At this point, it doesn’t really matter what they say because we know where they are. There’s only one place they can be," the commander added, referring to the terrorists’ complete encirclement by the militia.

This isn’t the first reported case of ISIS fighters trying to flee the Syrian and Iraqi war zones in disguise. In 2015, shortly after the beginning of the Russian air campaign against the terrorists, hundreds of fighters in northern Syria reportedly shaved their beards and fled to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
The Russian Air Force then began monitoring terrorist efforts from the de facto ISIS capital of Raqqa to flee as civilians. Later, the Iraqi Army temporarily banned the burqa and niqab in liberated djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
for security reasons amid fears that gunnies were disguising themselves as women to escape.

North and South Korea to launch joint bid to host 2032 summer Olympics
[Guardian] Seoul is hoping to "change the fate of the Korean peninsula" with the launch of a bid to jointly host the 2032 Olympic Games with North Korea.

Representatives from both Koreas are expected to submit their plans to co-host the event at a meeting of the International Olympic City in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Friday. The South Korean Olympic Committee chose Seoul, a previous Olympic host, over the southern port city of Busan on Monday.

The decision to involve North Korea in the bid reflects warmer diplomatic ties between the neighbours, a year after North Korea sent athletes, supporters and officials to the Winter Olympics in the South Korean alpine town of Pyeongchang.

South Korea’s president, Moon Jae-in, who favours engagement with the regime in Pyongyang, has also suggested the two countries bid to co-host the 2030 World Cup. The countries also plan to send combined teams to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Former Trump lawyer Cohen's Senate testimony postponed due to surgery
(Reuters) - Testimony by U.S. President Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen planned for Tuesday before the Senate Intelligence Committee has been postponed as he recovers from a recent surgical procedure, an attorney for Cohen said.

"The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence has accepted Mr. Cohen’s request for postponement of tomorrow’s hearing due to post surgery medical needs," Lanny Davis said in a statement to media. "A future date will be announced by the Committee."

Cohen’s surgery was on his shoulder, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Cohen, who is set to go to prison on March 6, had been subpoenaed to appear before the Senate committee, one of two main congressional panels investigating whether Russia interfered in the U.S. 2016 presidential election.

Trump has said repeatedly there was no collusion between his campaign and Russia and has called Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation a witch hunt. Moscow denies meddling in the election, despite U.S. intelligence agencies’ conclusion of Russian interference.

Sheriffs storm Capitol Hill to demand border wall, ICE funding
[Washington Examiner] Angered with efforts by House and Senate Democrats to cut funding for President Trump’s border wall and ICE facilities that hold criminal illegal immigrants, dozens of U.S. sheriffs are storming Capitol Hill Monday to more money to enforce immigration.

"We are at wits end on this," said Bristol County, Mass. Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson. "This really is a catastrophe," he said of the anti-Trump proposal backed by Democrats including Speaker Nancy Pelosi and progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Hodgson is one of 60 key sheriffs meeting with the House Freedom Caucus on the steps of the U.S. Capitol today before hitting individual House and Senate offices to lobby for wall and ICE funding. He spoke to Secrets from the bus transporting him and sheriffs from Arizona, Texas, Massachusetts and Ohio to the Hill.

Over the weekend, Secrets reported that two national sheriffs groups, the National Sheriffs’ Association and the Major County Sheriffs of America, delivered letters to House and Senate immigration negotiators to warn against Democratic efforts to put a cap on the number of criminal illegal immigrants that can be held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The groups said that about 8,300 criminal aliens would have to be immediately released if the cap went into effect. They also said that about 90 percent of all illegal immigrants held by ICE in the nation’s "interior," versus border facilities, have criminal records.

The issue is one that has stalled negotiations, threatening a second government shutdown later this week.

Both sheriff groups are meeting in Washington this week.

MANTIS Shooting performance system - Live fire or dry fire
[Colins Corner] It’s a two component system, first is the attachment that slides onto your pistol rail and the second is the app that you install onto your phone. I only linked to Android but there’s an Apple version too. Anyway the attachment measures the pistol movement during the trigger pull and it gives you instant feedback on what you’re doing wrong.

Like the common paper pistol target, it’s able to detect a whole host of issues from slapping the trigger, too little or too much trigger finger, pushing the gun forward or tightening grip.

The MantisX system supports both left & right handed shooters and it can be used during live fire, dry fire or even on pellet or airsoft guns. I shoot my HK SFP9 pretty well but as always it could be better and last time I went to Silverdale I tested it out.

The score target is the same as this one and when you touch the various sections it’ll tell you what the problem is. My overall score was good but I was breaking my wrist up and had a bit too much trigger finger. These were slow deliberate shots though and if i were to speed things up my score definitely would have been slower. The second picture my performance out of 5 shots (can be more or less, depends on how much you shoot) and how much movement my hold and trigger affects the gun. In the last picture the green light signifies the movement of the gun before the trigger is pulled, the yellow the movement during the trigger pull and the X marks where the shot is.

Lawmakers reach agreement 'in principle' to avert shutdown
[The Hill] Lawmakers said on Monday night that they had reached an agreement "in principle" to avoid a second partial government shutdown set to begin on Saturday.

"We’ve had a good evening. We’ve reached an agreement in principle between us on the Homeland Security and the other six bills," Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) told reporters.

Shelby announced the deal alongside Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and Reps. Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.) and Kay Granger (R-Texas)‐the top members of the Senate and House Appropriations Committee.

The breakthrough came after the core four negotiators met three times on Monday night in a last-ditch effort to get a deal after talks appeared to unravel over the weekend with only days to prevent a partial government shutdown.

Negotiators refused to discuss the particulars of the deal with staff expected to work frantically to release the legislation as early as Tuesday. Lowey said she hopes for the bill, which she called a "good product," to be released on Wednesday.

A congressional source told The Hill that the bill will include $1.375 billion for physical barriers, the same amount included in the 2018 fiscal year bill. The tentative agreement, according to the source, also specifically prohibits the use of a concrete wall. But, senior Congressional aides separately noted that it will fund approximately 55 new miles of barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border in the Rio Grande Valley sector.

Two SJWs sitting on a hill
This is not Babylon Bee
Two social justice warriors are sitting side by side, high on a hill, above the noxious odor of cow farts, overlooking the fruited plain and discussing the things that disgust them most about the United States of America.

The topic turns to economic justice; climate change; and how to save not just the United States, but the entire world from the "literal Hitler" who currently occupies the White House.

The first SJW is young and inexperienced in the ways of the world but offers up her plan to promote economic growth while at the same time helping to end climate change. She points to an office building off in the distance with highly inefficient single-pane glass windows. She says, "let's run down there and throw a brick through one of those vile, environmentally destructive windows. By doing so, we'll start a chain reaction of economic growth, and thanks to current regulation, the window will need to be replaced with a new, environmentally friendly version."

The second SJWs, neither older nor wiser, but emboldened by her B.A. in economics and having been newly elected to Congress, believes she has a much better solution. Self-assured in her abilities (and knowing she'll never be seriously scrutinized by the MSM), she chuckles and tells her friend to slow down. "I've got a much better deal for the world ‐ a green one. Saving the planet and creating unimagined economic growth and prosperity can be a very simple task. Why run down there and do so little when I need only walk down to D.C. and propose legislation that would allow us to break and replace not only every environmentally destructive window throughout the U.S., but all the buildings attached to those windows as well? And that would be merely one of the many mandates and investments in my well thought out deal that would be fair and green and include free everything."

The first SJW loved the second SJW's plan but feared that no one ‐ especially Democrat presidential contenders ‐ would take this Green New Deal the least bit seriously.

While this may appear a crude blend of a funny story of two SJWs and wise parable about broken windows, there's nothing funny or wise about the Green New Deal. The moral of this story is that no sane person should ever take seriously any political party that would support an SJW selling repackaged communist ideas that, if enacted, would thoroughly destroy our economy and screw every American citizen.
I'm afraid the author's definition of sanity has been rejected as another DWEM invention by the current young, highly educated, generation

Brazile: We Need ‘Some Reconciliation' for African-Americans in U.S.; Follow South Africa Model
[PJ] WASHINGTON ‐ CNN political analyst April Ryan, Washington bureau chief for American Urban Radio Networks, said past U.S. presidents like Bill Clinton and George W. Bush refused to formally "apologize for slavery" because it would lead to some form of reparations for descendants of slaves.
Marikana platinum mine "reconciliation" left 17 striking mine employees dead on 16 August 2012. The mines, defense industry, tourist hotels, casinos, and game farms will stay open, how else can we fund our foney gov't, do-nothing jobs.
"In my first book, I tackled the issue of reparations as a healing, as a possible healing, asking people... from the time I started at the White House, when the race initiative happened with Bill Clinton, oh my God, everybody was saying that’s the girl who is always asking, ’Mr. President, will you apologize for slavery?’ But it’s real. When he started that race initiative issue, people were thinking about, OK, if you are talking about race and healing, there’s this black-white dynamic that has to be healed and also a Native American dynamic that really wasn’t on the table like it should have been," Ryan said during a recent Race in America Today discussion to mark Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.

"But when it came to the black-white issue ‐ will there be an apology for slavery ‐ there were some blacks that were for it and some blacks that were against it. He was listening to a cross-section of black people and they never apologized. You know why? And this is the truth. It never came to that formal ’OK, we’re going to apologize or not.’ You know one of the main reasons why? Because if you say I’m sorry then you have to come out with some kind of healing ‐ that is reparations," she added.

Ryan continued, "How do you determine reparations, now or in, what is it? 1997, 98. What is it? It is not 40 acres and a mule ‐ and 40 acres and a mule now would equate to a house in Potomac and a Land Rover. So then you get into the question: Who is black now? And all of that was, yes, I am African-American, period, end of story. And if I do, what is it? Twenty-two or 23 [percent] in me, OK, fine, but I’m African-American."

US military reinforces Syrian border as Hashd Al-Shaabi prepares to launch new operation
[AlMasdar] The U.S. military sent a large number of reinforcements to the Iraqi-Syrian border as the Iranian-backed Hashd al-Shaabi forces prepare to start a new operation in this region.

According to Ottoman Turkish state-owned Anadolu News Agency, the U.S. military sent reinforcements to the western countryside of the al-Anbar Governorate, which borders Syria’s Deir Ezzor and Homs provinces.

Citing an Iraqi official, the Anadolu report alleged that the U.S. military forces were redeployed to this area to block the expansion of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops along the Syrian-Iraqi border.

With the Syrian Arab Army and Hashd al-Shaabi preparing to launch a joint offensive in southeast Syria, the U.S. Armed Forces at the nearby al-Tanf Base will likely be watching closely to ensure the pro-government troops don’t move into their zone of influence.

Syrian Army steps up attacks in northern Hama as situation deteriorates
[AlMasdar] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their military campaign in northwestern Syria on Monday, targeting several areas controlled by the Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels in northern Hama.

According to a military report from northern Hama, the Syrian Arab Army targeted a number of dens and trenches located near the town of al-Janabah.

The Syrian Arab Army’s attack would then spread to the checkpoint near Massasneh; this would result in a fierce exchange between the military and Jaish al-Izza.

Jaish al-Izza responded to these attacks by firing a number of artillery shells towards the Syrian Arab Army’s positions north of Mhardeh.

Another attack was reported by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) near the town of al-Habbit, which is located inside the designated buffer zone in northern Hama.

Europe
Anti-Americanism: As German as Apple Strudel
h/t Instapundit
The news came in a recent issue of the Frankfurter Allgemeine (FAZ): "Two years after President Trump's inauguration, the Germans have lost much of their trust in the United States." Eighty-five percent of respondents in an Atlantik-Brucke survey, reported FAZ, view the U.S. either "negatively" or "very negatively." Many Germans look more favorably upon Communist China than upon the U.S.; more than half would like Germany to distance itself further from the U.S., with only thirteen percent wanting a closer relationship. Germans aren’t big on NATO, either: Only a quarter of those surveyed think their country should pay its agreed-upon share of the NATO budget. Many support the idea of an EU army. Of all the major political parties, only members of the anti-immigrant AfD are favorably disposed toward America.

...But in fact German anti-Americanism has nothing to do with Trump. Of course anti-Americanism exists everywhere in the world, and especially in Europe, whose political and cultural elites viewed the democratic U.S. from the moment of its founding with aristocratic disdain. But contempt for the U.S. has always been especially intense -- and irrational -- in Germany, which has its own distinctive reasons (if that’s the right word) for despising the superpower across the sea.

...Most recently I was in Hamburg, where I stayed in a neighborhood in which half of the women wore hijab and the principal architectural feature was a gigantic mosque. Although the idea of traveling to Germany for pleasure hasn’t seemed too pleasurable since Angela Merkel opened up the floodgates in 2015, I’ve mostly enjoyed my trips to that country. But no matter who was the U.S. president or what issues were in the headlines, the anti-Americanism persisted, invariably attributed to some recent U.S. action. Still, as quick as Germans are to run down the U.S., it’s impossible to get an honest answer out of them when you ask about the Muslim takeover of their country.

...Of course, Germans also hate America because it’s a superpower -- a superpower, moreover, just to rub it in, that, being isolationist at heart, never really set out to be a superpower, and that has accepted that role only out of concern for the preservation of international order and freedom. Germany, on the contrary, has been aching to be a superpower from the git-go. It has longed to rule. Back in the middle of the last century it went all in on the effort to control the world and failed disastrously -- and America alone, through the Marshall Plan, helped it to get back on its feet, repaying genocidal megalomania with magnanimous generosity. Who could ever forgive that?

...Their ancestors fought wars of conquest, and they understand that; but they’ll never be able to fully process the fact that Americans actually fought a war to free them from a psychopathic dictator whom they had followed, in mindless obedience, to the gates of Hell. Imagine knowing that and having to live with it! How could a proud and arrogant people in such a situation not find their thankfulness toward the nation that saved them being twisted into a ghoulish hatred?

#1  Thunderous applause.

Yes, yes please leave NATO. Oh, we would hate that. Closing the bases and stopping spending for your defense at the expense of our own people? Please don't Germany.

Hacke argues that the United States is abandoning its long-standing internationalist commitment to Europe. But NATO is a military alliance. To have a military alliance, you must have a military. Germany doesn’t really have one, as Hacke points out. What’s more, it isn’t clear that Germany’s commitment to the alliance is unconditional. I was recently in conversation with national security experts from Europe and the United States. I brought up that if the United States had to rush forces to the Eastern European frontier, they would have to pass through military bases in Germany. I asked if the Germans would permit the free passage of U.S. military forces. The answers ranged from “probably” to “I don’t know.” I assume they would, but the idea that the question would even come up and be answered with less than an absolute “of course” indicates a lack of trust in Germany.

#2  This gem from the article:

"The Pew survey also showed that while only 38 percent of Germans “would be prepared to assist in the event of an attack by Russia on a NATO country under Article 5 of the NATO Treaty,” two-thirds of Germans assumed “that the United States would use military force and defend the beleaguered country.” In other words, Germans have no interest in defending anybody, perhaps even including themselves, but they take for granted America’s readiness to defend them. But in fact German anti-Americanism has nothing to do with Trump.

It has (almost) everything to to with Trump and his aggressive stance. And most of it is not "anti-Americanism", just as there hardly is any "anti-Germanism" in the U.S., just a critical view of Merkel's latest policies, and this for a reason.

Most recently I was in Hamburg, where I stayed in a neighborhood in which half of the women wore hijab and the principal architectural feature was a gigantic mosque.

That's BS. He won't name that neighborhood for a reason.

Still, as quick as Germans are to run down the U.S., it’s impossible to get an honest answer out of them when you ask about the Muslim takeover of their country.

What does he perceive as an "honest answer"? Most Germans have been concerned about Merkel's refugee policies and they will certainly be upfront about it. But few will think that 5-6 % of Muslims will take over Germany anytime soon.

Germany, on the contrary, has been aching to be a superpower from the git-go. It has longed to rule.

Not since 1945

The South and Southwest has traditionally been more US-friendly. Funny enough, these are the regions where people are constantly in contact with US-citizens. "Goulish hatred?" Yeah right, ask all those U.S. visitors (and troops) who just loved their time in Germany.

Yes Trump is hard to stomach, for me, too. I realize that many, if not most people on Rantburg favor Trump. But I'm still here, treated with every respect and tolerance, and I try to reciprocate.

My admiration and respect for America has never changed.

MoD Vows To Continue Military Pressure On Taliban
[ToloNews] Amidst the ongoing peace efforts, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Monday said the Afghan Defense and Security Forces backed by their foreign counterparts will increase their attacks on Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
’s strongholds.

A front man of the Defense Ministry, Ghafoor Ahmad Jawed, said military operations by Afghan forces are ongoing in at least 15 provinces.

"We are conducting (military) operations in different provinces and the Taliban has sustained heavy casualties," Jawed said. "At least 10 commanders of Taliban have been killed in the last three weeks. We are also conducting operations against ISIS Death Eaters."

Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth had turned a paler shade of blue. Star-A-Star had struck again...
the US Forces-Afghanistan front man Colonel David Butler said the US-backed military pressure by the Afghan forces on the Taliban will continue until a peace agreement is reached.

"We will continue to fight every single day until there is a peaceful settlement and that is important to know that the Taliban will continue to feel this enormous military pressure," Butler told TOLOnews on Feb. 10.

Military analysts said the military pressure on the Taliban should continue until a possible ceasefire with the group.

"The Afghan Army should use all their resources to restore security," said Mohammad Radmanish, a retired Army General and a military affairs analyst. "The Islamic Theocratic Republic of Afghanistan has the legal right to do so until a ceasefire."

In a latest development, Afghan forces on Sunday cleared some villages of Taliban in a key district in the northern Takhar province, according to Ministry of Defense.

"Our winter operations have started in areas around Takhar in Mawarai Kokcha district and we have good achievements there," said Hayatullah Aqtash, Commander of Pamir 20 Army Brigade.

The US forces front man in Afghanistan said that performance of Afghan commandos has been encouraging on the battlefields.

Trump to sign executive order launching artificial intelligence initiative
[NYPOST] President Trump later Monday is expected to sign an executive order instructing the federal government to prioritize and dedicate resources to artificial intelligence, the White House said.

The initiative, titled "Maintaining American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence," urges "bold, decisive actions to ensure that AI continues to be fueled by American ingenuity, reflects American values and is applied for the benefit of the American people," a senior Trump administration official said in a background briefing Sunday evening.

In his State of the Union speech last week, Trump called for "investments in cutting edge industries" and the AI initiative is aimed to boost America’s leadership in the field.

The plan leaves the funding details up to Congress but directs federal agencies to assist workers in getting AI skills through fellowships, apprenticeships and training programs and computer science education.

The White House will offer guidelines to federal agencies but also instructs the National Institute of Standards and Technology to develop regulations for creating "reliable, robust, trustworthy, secure, portable, and interoperable AI systems."

Yemen food aid to feed millions at risk of rotting: UN
[Al Jazeera] Food aid in a warehouse on the front lines of Yemen's war is at risk of rotting, leaving millions of Yemenis without access to life-saving sustenance, the UN said on Monday.

The Red Sea Mills silos, located in the western port city of Hodeidah, are believed to contain enough grain to feed several million people. But the granary has remained off-limits to aid organizations for months.

"The World Food Programme grain stored in the mills - enough to feed 3.7 million people for a month - has been inaccessible for over five months and is at risk of rotting," said a joint statement by the UN aid chief and special envoy for Yemen.

"We emphasise that ensuring access to the mills is a shared responsibility among the parties to the conflict in Yemen."

Hodeidah, and its food silos, have been in the hands of Yemen's Houthi

Pennsylvania newspaper drops syndicated cartoon over hidden Trump insult
[USAToday] A Pennsylvania newspaper has dropped a syndicated cartoon after it says a reader discovered a vulgar comment against President Donald Trump hidden in the corner.

"A reader brought to our attention that one of the syndicated comic strips which appears in the Sunday Butler Eagle may contain a hidden message which was apparently placed there by someone in the creative department of the creator of the comic strip or the syndication which controls it," said Ron Vodenichar, Eagle publisher and general manager said in an article on the newspaper's website.

The message, written in the lower right panel of the daily cartoon begins with "We fondly say go ..." followed by an expletive directed at Trump. The full strip can be seen here.

The cartoon, which encourages readers to color it in, was drawn by Wiley Miller for the strip "Non Sequitur." Sunday, Miller acknowledged the message in his comic, tweeting "Some of my sharp-eyed readers have spotted a little Easter egg from Leonardo Bear-Vinci. Can you find it?"

The Pennsylvania paper announced it will be dropping the nationally-syndicated strip distributed by Andrews McMeel Syndication from its Sunday comics, citing that it does not publish the F word in its family publication.

"Non Sequitur" publishes in more than 700 newspapers nationwide, according to the company's website. The company did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

PA says it will take legal action against US over ‘financial siege’
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian foreign minister says Ramallah also seeking funding alternatives in face of Washington’s moves aimed at pressuring Paleostinians into grinding of the peace processor.

Paleostinian Authority Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki said Monday that the PA would take legal action to counter US moves to apply financial pressure on Ramallah.

Malki’s comments came a day after a senior Fatah official, Hussein al-Sheikh, said in an Arabic-language interview published Sunday that the US has asked international banks to squeeze the Paleostinian Authority financially in a bid to pressure the Paleostinian leaders to accept the Trump administration’s not-yet-announced peace plan.

"The leadership is following these new American attempts to impose a financial siege on our people, and is looking for legal steps to bring lawsuits against the United States over all these illegal steps on the one hand, while searching for suitable financial alternatives to respond to these punitive measures on the other," Malki told the Voice of Paleostine radio station.

Al-Sheikh told AFP on Sunday that major financial institutions had begun to cooperate with Washington’s bid to "impose a tight financial siege on the Authority."

According to al-Sheikh, "the sanctions began with preventing the transfer of an Iraqi grant worth $10 million, which was handed over to the Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
recently. The League has not been able to transfer it because all banks have refused to accept it for transfer to the Authority’s finance ministry or the national fund."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed Sunday to begin deducting PA payments to convicted Death Eaters and their families from tax transfers Israel hands the PA each month.

Calls to cut transfers to the PA have ramped up in recent days following the murder of an Israeli woman by a Paleostinian suspect in Jerusalem on Thursday. The Shin Bet has labeled the killing a nationalistically motivated terror attack.

"By the end of the week, the staff work required for implementing the [July 2018] law on deducting terrorists’ salaries will be completed," the prime minister said, referring to a law that formally went into effect on January 1 that grants the Israeli government the power to withhold tax funds paid by Paleostinians and handed by Israel to the PA, up to the amount spent by the PA in payments to incarcerated security prisoners and the families of Death Eaters killed while attacking Israelis.

Al-Sheikh said "the American decision is in line with an Israeli decision" to cut the tax transfers, which he said represent more than 50 percent of the Paleostinian treasury’s income and constitute about 70% of the current expenses of the PA and the salaries of its employees.

In his Monday comments, Malki called the Israeli deductions "piracy."

"This is Israeli piracy of part of the Paleostinian tax funds on the grounds that it pays salaries to prisoners and families of deaders," he said, adding, "the Paleostinian leadership intends to bring the issue of this piracy to the General Assembly of the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
and international legal institutions to hold Israel accountable and punish it for stealing these funds without right."

Anti-India protests erupt in occupied Kashmir after 5 killed
[DAWN] Five Kashmiris were killed in fighting with government forces in Indian Kashmiree on Sunday, reports said, triggering anti-India festivities in which at least 10 civilians were maimed.

The fighting began after Indian government forces cordoned off a village in the Himalayan region's southern Kulgam area. Exchange of gunfire was reported in which five armed Kashmiris were killed.

According to the Kashmire Media Service, a search operation was jointly carried out by the personnel of Indian army’s 9 Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and Special Operation Group of police. A house was also destroyed by Indian troops during the aggression by Indian forces.

It said the dear departed Kashmiris were identified as Waseem Bashir Rather, Zahid Parray, Idrees Butt, Aaqib Nazir, and Pervez Butt.

The Kashmire Media Service also reported that mobile phone and Internet services were suspended in the district. Train services have also been suspended in south Kashmire, it said.

The fighting sparked protests and festivities as hundreds of residents tried to march to the site of the clash in solidarity with the Kashmiri fighters. The protesters were chanting slogans and demanding end to India's occupation of the region.

Indian forces fired shotgun pellets and tear gas at the protesters, who threw stones and snowballs at them. At least 10 civilians were maimed and were taken to hospitals, medics and local residents said.

The Grand Turk
Emboldened Turkish state targets parties with ‘Kurdistan’ in their titles
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
’s public prosecutor has begun investigations into Kurdish political parties using the word ’Kurdistan’ in their titles, targeting two so far.

"This decision is not a solution for Turkey. It will rather embolden our belief and struggle to protect ourselves. This will be a legal fight between the government and us," Bayram Bozyel, an official from Kurdistan Socialist Party (PSK), told Rudaw.

He claimed the move was politically motivated.

In addition to PSK, the investigation has also targeted the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK).

The Kurdistan Democratic Party-Turkey (KDP-T) was warned when it was established in 2014 to remove "Kurdistan" from its name, but it ignored the advice, leader Mihemed Emin Kardas, leader of PDK-T, told Rudaw. Authorities renewed the warning when the Kurdistan Region in Iraq held its independence referendum in 2017, Kardas added, saying that no action has been taken against them for the name yet.

The Kurdish Freedom and Socialist Party (OSP) recently changed its name to the Kurdistan Communist Party (KKP). They have not encountered any problems with their name. The party says the government does not want any political activity under the name of Kurds and Kurdistan.

"The Republic of Turkey was established on the principle that there were no Kurds or Kurdistan and they kept that policy to date," said Yasar Kazici, a KKP official, told Rudaw.

Turkey’s constitution stipulates that "The statutes and programs, as well as the activities of political parties shall not be contrary to the independence of the State, its indivisible integrity with its territory and nation ..."

Ottoman Turkish authorities believe that having "Kurdistan" in a party's name violates this article since these parties consider the provinces of southeastern Turkey as the northern part of Greater Kurdistan.

According to the CIA World Factbook, Kurds make up 19 percent of Turkey's population, or about 15.5 million.

The largest pro-Kurdish party in Turkey does not have Kurdistan in its title ‐ the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP). Although largely comprised of Kurdish members, it fights for greater minority, ethnic, and cultural rights for all citizens.

The only party which has waged an outright war against the Ottoman Turkish state is the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which is banned Turkey for its four decade, sometimes-armed, struggle against the state.

facility, raising more legal questions about the group’s practices.

Holly O’Donnell, a former blood and tissue procurement technician for the biotech startup StemExpress, also said she was asked to harvest an intact brain from the late-term, male fetus whose heart was still beating after the abortion.

A StemExpress supervisor "gave me the scissors and told me that I had to cut down the middle of the face. And I can’t even describe what that feels like," said Ms. O’Donnell, who has been featured in earlier videos by the Center for Medical Progress, a pro-life group that previously had released six undercover clips involving Planned Parenthood personnel and practices.

Lebanese PM thinks bailing Sharif family out after Musharraf coup was a 'big mistake'
[DAWN] Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Monday made the revelation that Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri
Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too.

on hijacking and terrorism charges after the military coup of 1999.

Prime Minister Khan had met Hariri ‐ who according to Chaudhry "helped Nawaz Sharif get an NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) from [former president] Pervez Perv Musharraf
... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ...
" ‐ on the sidelines of the World Government Summit in Dubai on Sunday.

Taking to Twitter, Chaudhry claimed that Khan during his conversation with Hariri told the Lebanese prime minister that word is going around in Pakistain about "another NRO[-like deal] for Nawaz Sharif".

Sharif's second term as prime minister had ended as a result of the then army chief Pervez Musharraf's coup in October 1999 and he was tried, convicted and sentenced to life in prison in a hijacking case.

However,

Palestinian brothers arrested in Hebron with concealed knife
[IsraelTimes] Security forces stopped two Paleostinian brothers as they tried to slip past security checks at the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron on Monday and then discovered one of them was carrying a knife concealed in some papers, police said.

The siblings, aged 18 and 19 from the nearby Paleostinian city of Yatta, were taken away for questioning as to the motive for their actions, Border Police said in a statement.

Security forces became suspicious of the pair when they noticed them milling around near one of the security check posts at the entrance to the holy site, located in the West Bank city. Officers at the scene stopped them as they tried to bypass security and enter the compound.

During a search of their possessions one of the suspects was found to have a knife hidden in a bundle of papers he was holding, police said.

The Tomb of the Patriarchs is sanctified by Jews and Moslems as the burial place of biblical patriarch Abraham and others.

Syria reports Israeli artillery attack on Quneitra
[IsraelTimes] Syrian state media claims IDF targeting hospital and observation post with tank shells; Israeli military does not comment.

Israeli forces shelled the Syrian city of Quneitra, Syrian state media reported Monday night.
Could be remnants of ISIS or Al Nusra, the lads of the Palestine Liberation Army — attached to Assad’s forces — feeling their oats, someone showing off for visiting Iranian officers, or just a bit of misplaced guns3x aimed too close to the Israeli lines and needing pushback...
According to the state-run SANA news agency, Israeli tank shells targeted a hospital in Quneitra and a nearby observation post.

Quneitra lies just across the border on the Golan Heights, in the demilitarized zone between the countries.

The Israeli military did not immediately respond to the report.

According to SANA, the shelling caused material damage but no casualties.
The Jerusalem Post points out:
Quneitra was re-gained by Bashir al-Assad's regime forces in July 2018, having been held by a rebel faction for the majority of the country's seven-year-long civil war. The area sits some 500 feet from the 1974 internationally-mediated ceasefire line.

In late December, IDF forces fired at armed suspects approaching the Israeli border from Syria.
Update from Al Masdar:
Syrian military on high alert after Israeli attack

The Syrian military has been placed on their highest alert level after a brief Israeli attack targeted their positions in the al-Quneitra Governorate.

According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian military’s air defense forces were placed in a ready position to confront a potential Israeli attack on the western part of the country.

The source said while it is highly unlikely that the Israeli military will strike again, they wanted to take all precautionary measures to ensure they are able to foil an attack.

Earlier in the day, the Israeli military launched three separate strikes that targeted three different Syrian Arab Army sites.

The first attack targeted a Syrian Army garrison at a large hilltop; the second strike targeted the Quneitra Hospital, which was later turned into a base by Jabhat al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
; and the third attack targeted another garrison at Jabata al-Shaab.

Patrick Church unveils boy brides at New York Fashion Week
[NYPOST] "Romance isn’t dead," declares British-bred designer Patrick Church.

For his Fall/Winter 2019 unisex collection titled "Dearly Beloved" ‐ which was unveiled on Saturday night in Chelsea ‐ he paired off his models to symbolize couples in modern relationships.

One show-stopping duo even served up ceremonial couture looks ‐ complete with a dramatic veil and bouquet ‐ ready for nuptial bliss.

"The centerpiece of the presentation were two boy brides in hand-painted wedding dresses," Church tells The Post.

The multimedia artist-slash-designer got married just months after meeting his partner, which inspired the theme, along with the concept that he describes as "feminine strength."

"Finding love has been one of the most fulfilling journeys of my life and promoting connection and hope is important to me."

Two hours after her apology Rep Omar retweeks another antisemitic meme
[WashingtonTimes] Just hours after apologizing for making comments deemed anti-Semitic, Rep. Ilhan Omar retweeted a thread defending her claim that campaign contributions from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee buy support for the group's positions.

Ms. Omar praised the writer, Ady Barkan, who told of being a staffer on a long-shot congressional campaign in 2006 when the candidate agreed to take stances on two issues in exchange for a maximum contribution from AIPAC.

"Your courage can't be matched. I am often in tears thinking about how you won't be with us in this fight and how I am going to miss your presence and courage. In solidarity my friend, in solidarity," Ms. Omar wrote to Ady Barkan.

- He states he is in late stage Parkinson.

- He states he is Jewish and born in Israel

- Although he states that AIPAC contributed to his candidate, this doesn't compute because AIPAC doesn't contribute to individual candidates. If you look into Ady's twitter stream, you see that people have checked this out and no one has been able to identify the 'maximum contribution'.

Two Palestinians said killed in Gaza-Egypt tunnel after inhaling toxic gas
[IsraelTimes] Spokesman says one of the dead was an officer in Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, security forces, second was a civilian; source of gas unclear.

An officer in the Hamas security forces and a Paleostinian civilian died late Sunday after inhaling poisonous gas inside a tunnel along the border between Egypt and the Gazoo Strip, Iyad al-Bozm, a front man for the Interior Ministry in the coastal enclave said in a statement on Monday.

Bozm, whose ministry is run by the terror group, said the officer was on "a security mission to inspect the tunnel," but did not state clearly what the civilian was doing in it.

He did not comment on the origin of the substance, but a Paleostinian security source said the Egyptian military has used gas to halt the use of illegal tunnels it finds along the border.

The Egyptian army could not be reached for comment Monday, but in 2010 Cairo denied similar charges after the deaths of four Paleostinians in a border tunnel.

Egypt has demolished hundreds of tunnels between its territory and Gazoo in the past several years, but smugglers of commercial goods and weapons are still believed to operate a number of subterranean passageways there.

In February 2017, three Paleostinians died from inhaling toxic gas in a tunnel between Egypt and Gazoo, which they were repairing after Egyptian military blew it up, Paleostinian authorities said at the time.

Bozm said that the members of the Hamas-run Civil Defense succeeded in extracting the bodies of the officer and the civilian from the tunnel.

He also noted that two other members of the security forces were rescued and transferred to a local hospital for treatment, but he did not say if they were in the tunnel or who saved them.

The ministry front man identified the officer as 39-year-old Abdel Hamid al-Aker and the civilian as 28-year-old Subhi Abu Qirshein. He said Aker held the rank of major.

A video posted on Quds News Network, a Paleostinian news site, appeared to show the bodies of Aker and Abu Qirshein arriving at a hospital in the coastal enclave.

Now Radical Blacks Are Even Turning On People of Mixed Race!
[Freedom Watch] Sen. Kamala Harris directly confronted critics Monday who have questioned her black heritage, her record incarcerating minorities as a prosecutor and her decision to marry a white man.

In an interview with The Breakfast Club hosts DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God that aired Monday, the show's hosts asked the California Democrat to address a series of derogatory memes that have circulated on social media. One of the hosts cited a meme that said Harris is "not African-American" because her parents were immigrants born in India and Jamaica and she spent her high school years in Canada.

POTUS' approval rating among likely voters soars to his best in 23 MONTHS at 52 per cent after State of the Union address as border-wall shutdown talks intensify
[MAIL] Donald Trump's job approval rating among likely U.S. voters hit 52 per cent on Monday in a daily tracking poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports, the polling organization he uses most frequently to promote himself.

That number is his highest since March 6, 2017, less than seven weeks after he took office. It has been even longer since Trump's 'strongly approve' and 'strongly disapprove' numbers weren't under water. They were even at 39 per cent on Monday.

Overall, 47 per cent of likely voters disapprove of Trump's Oval Office performance. That's a low water mark since November 2, 2018.

Monday's numbers came from surveys conducted during the three weekdays following the president's State of the Union address. It's not unusual for presidents to get a polling 'bump' after the high-profile annual address.

Trump could use the groundswell now more than ever: A Friday deadline looms for the White House and congressional Democrats to hash out a budget deal to avoid a second government shutdown.

Asked what Monday's numbers mean, a senior Democratic House aide confided on background: 'I don't know yet if it's horrible, but it sure isn't good.'

The White House, however, seemed pleased. Trump himself tweeted an image of this story at the top of The Drudge Report, an influential news aggregation website.

RBG'S Possible Incapacity And The Case For Judicial Term Limits
[Daily Caller] Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s difficulty in carrying out her judicial duties has encouraged informal wagering about whether she can continue until President Trump leaves office. This is in bad taste and overshadows recognition of her outstanding career.

The problem of justices outliving their judicial capacity has recurred throughout U.S. history. But it may be growing more acute, as advances in health care enable physical strength to outlive mental capacity.

We do not yet have a satisfactory mechanism for addressing the issue. No statute forcing justices to leave office would be valid because the Constitution specifies that they "hold their Offices during good Behavior." That’s a rough translation of the Anglo-Latin formula, "quam diu bene gesserit." It literally means "so long has he shall have conducted himself well." Justices serve until their death, retirement, resignation, or impeachment-and-conviction, whichever comes first.

One possible remedy is for family members or professional colleagues to pressure a failing justice into resigning or retiring. Another alternative is impeachment, conviction, and removal from office for "high ... Misdemeanors." In the constitutional context, this is a fiduciary standard, and is broad enough to include negligence or other breach of duty due to incapacity.

#4  Men in Black: How the Supreme Court Is Destroying America by Mark R. Levin.

One of the very best history books on the court's judges. Including several that were completely incapacitated and still (left) on the bench. Pretty chilling.

“America’s founding fathers had a clear and profound vision for what they wanted our federal government to be,” says constitutional scholar Mark R. Levin in his explosive book, Men in Black. “But today, our out-of-control Supreme Court imperiously strikes down laws and imposes new ones to suit its own liberal whims––robbing us of our basic freedoms and the values on which our country was founded.”

In Men in Black: How the Supreme Court Is Destroying America, Levin exposes countless examples of outrageous Supreme Court abuses, from promoting racism in college admissions, expelling God and religion from the public square, forcing states to confer benefits on illegal aliens, and endorsing economic socialism to upholding partial-birth abortion, restraining political speech, and anointing terrorists with rights.

Levin writes: “Barely one hundred justices have served on the United States Supreme Court. They’re unelected, they’re virtually unaccountable, they’re largely unknown to most Americans, and they serve for life…in many ways the justices are more powerful than members of Congress and the president.… As few as five justices can and do dictate economic, cultural, criminal, and security policy for the entire nation.”

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Jussie Smollett’s neighbors cast doubt on his attack story
[NYPOST] Nearly two weeks after "Empire" star Jussie Smollett claimed he was the victim of a racist, homophobic attack, cops have yet to identify any suspects ‐ and some people in his tony reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown

neighborhood are growing skeptical.

"I don’t believe it happened the way he said it did," said Agin Muhammad, who lives in the same swank high-rise near the Navy Pier as Smollett.

"I’ve been in this neighborhood five years. I don’t believe it, not around here ... Half the people are gay and the other half are black."

A patron at Lizzie McNeill’s Irish Pub, about a block from the scene of the alleged Jan. 29 incident, said Smollett’s story "doesn’t really make sense."

"It’s a lie, because Chicago is the most liberal city around," said the man, who wouldn’t give his name. "They have cameras everywhere ... Why can’t they find the attack?"

Cops have said they found plenty of surveillance video, but none that captured the incident.

Meanwhile,
...back at the desert island, Irene was indignant at the thought of doing such a thing without benefit of clergy...
Chicago police said Sunday that Smollett has yet to turn over data from his cellphone to verify that he was on the phone with his music manager, Brandon Moore, when he was allegedly attacked.

Hashd shuts down 5 more ‘fake’ branches
Green on green continues.
[Rudaw] Hashd al-Shaabi’s security directorate continued its crackdown on headquarters of groups it claims were masquerading as members of the Popular Mobilization Forces. It shut down five offices in the last two days.

On Monday, the security directorate of the Hashd al-Shaabi Commission announced in a statement the closure of two "fake headquarters" of groups pretending to be Hashd units in Baghdad. The two groups are the Kutlat Daam al-Dawla (Faction of Supporting the State) in Karrada and Kataeb al-Nukhba al-Qitali (The Elite Fighting Battalions) in the al-Dawra area.

"The two headquarters were closed upon the discovery of light and heavy weapons, military uniforms and ranks, badges and fake documents," the statement detailed.

On Sunday, the Hashd closed three more headquarters and detained the leaders.

"In continuation of the national campaign to close fake headquarters and clear al-Hashd of those pretending to be affiliated with it, the security directorate of al-Hashd today closed three fake headquarters," the commission stated on Sunday.

The closures were based on court orders, Hashd claimed.

One of the headquarters raided was that of the Iitilaf Squr Dawlat al-Iraq (Coalition of Iraqi State Hawks) in Karrada. There, the Hashd confiscated records of real estate dealings for state property in the name of the Hashd al-Shaabi. The second headquarters raided on Sunday was al-Intifadha al-Shaabanyah (the Shaabaniyah Uprising) in the al-Bab al-Sharqi area. There, they detained a man named Ali al-Sakry who was reportedly pretending to be a lieutenant general. The third headquarters was in the al-Saadun area where "fake documents" in the name of Hashd and alcohol were found.

Hashd said it will strike with an "iron fist" all those involved in these "fake" units of their forces and called on people to report suspicious activity.

There are tens of militias with thousands of members aligned within the Hashd al-Shaabi.

This crackdown within the Hashd began last week with the arrest of Aws al-Khafaji, head of a brigade that the commission said was not related to them. Khafaji had accused Hashd elements of killing his cousin, an author who was critical of Iran, which is the powerful backer of the Hashd al-Shaabi.

[DAWN] MULTAN: Another fake doctor was jugged
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
from Nishtar Hospital on Sunday, taking the tally of fake doctors caught in the hospital to eight.

Sabahat Sher Khan, the chief security officer of the hospital, informed the police that during an inspection, a vigilance team visited the emergency ward of the hospital when a man, identified as Javed Iqbal, came to a ward and introduced himself as a doctor of surgery. He also showed his service card. When the hospital record was checked, it was revealed that there was no doctor of this name in surgery department of the hospital. The suspect was arrested and he admitted that he used to get free medical tests of patients from the Nishtar staff by introducing himself as a doctor besides convincing the patients and their attendants to shift to private hospitals to earn commission.

It is pertinent to mention here that Nishtar Medical University Vice Chancellor Dr Mustafa Kamal Pasha has constituted a vigilance committee to conduct a crackdown on fake doctors.

According to hospital sources, eight fake doctors have been caught from the hospital so far.

Antifa activist facing assault charges was tied to Democratic policymakers
[FOXNEWS] What a difference a year made for Joseph Alcoff.
...that’s Joseph "Jose" Alcoff, also known as Jose Martin when on television pushing socialism and as Chepe in his more violent Communist mode, who along with Philly Antifa leader Thomas Keenan and Thomas Massey was arrested after viciously attacking a couple of Marines for being in the wrong place ...
On Monday, the 37-year-old has a court date in connection with charges he’s facing in Philadelphia that include aggravated assault and ethnic intimidation for allegedly being part of an Antifa
...the armed wing of the Democratic Party...
mob in November that attacked two Marines, Alejandro Godinez and Luis Torres, both Hispanic. Alcoff and two others charged in the attack have pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
But while Democratic officials are distancing themselves from Alcoff now, until recently he was a well-connected, aspiring political player in Washington who may have even had a hand in key policy proposals.

His endorsement apparently mattered when several congressional Democrats in February 2018 issued blurbs with his quote backing their bill on regulating payday lenders.

As the payday campaign manager for the liberal group Americans for Financial Reform, Alcoff participated in congressional Democratic pressers, was a guest on a House Democratic podcast and met with bigwigs at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from 2016 through 2018.

Moody's downgrades Pakistan's banking system from stable to negative
[DAWN] Moody's Investors Service has changed its outlook for the banking system in Pakistain from stable to negative, the company announced in a blurb on Monday.

"Over the next 12-18 months, banks in Pakistain will see their credit profiles challenged by their high exposure to the country's low-rated sovereign debt and a slowing economy," says Constantinos Kypreos, a senior vice-president at Moody's.

Moody's says that the banks' operating conditions will be difficult, with Pakistain's real GDP growth slowing to 4.3% in the fiscal year ending June 2019, down from 5.8% in 2018.

Germany closes Muslim kindergarten over Islamist links
[DW] The youth welfare office for the German state of Rhineland Palatinate has revoked the operating license of a Moslem kindergarten. The day nursery was accused of promoting Salafist ideology.

Officials in the city of Mainz on Monday withdrew the license of the only Moslem kindergarten in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate amid allegations that the facility was promoting Salafism.

The president of the state's youth office, Detlef Placzek, said the promotion of Salafist materials meant that the nursery no longer adhered to the German constitution.

Officials had a duty to intervene, Placzek said, when an operator was unwilling or unable to "to create the conditions that ensure the well-being of children."

Arab Nil-Rhein chairman Samy El Hagrasy rejected the accusations of extremism and said he would be appealing. "We accept and respect the constitution," said El Hagrasy, adding that the decision was "incomprehensible and a mystery."

CHILDREN NOT IN 'ACUTE DANGER'
Alarm bells were first sounded in 2012,
...definitely not acute...
when a controversial preacher
Oh? Which one?
began attending events for the Arab Nil-Rhein (Arab Nile-Rhine) mosque association, which is responsible for the Al Nur day nursery.

Further information only came to light in autumn last year, with the revelation that inappropriate literature had been shared at the kindergarten and that the center had worked with an infamous figure within the ultra-conservative Salafist movement.
The same as the above-unnamed gentleman, or is this a different one?
Children at the kindergarten are all due to switch to other day care centers by March 31, with preparations already being made by the city. A grace period was possible because there was no evidence of "acute danger to life and limb of the children," officials said.

At present there are 18 children at the kindergarten between the ages of three and six.

No direction received to reduce U.S. troops in Afghanistan: Shanahan
[KhaamaPress] The acting Secretary of Defense of the United States Patrick Shanahan has said that no direction has been received to reduce the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

He made the remarks to a group of journalists who were travelling with him to Afghanistan, according to Rooters.

Shanahan arrived in Afghanistan early on Monday in an unannounced visit and is scheduled to meet with the U.S. forces and Afghan officials.

Amid ongoing efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict through negotiations, Shanahan said it was important the Afghan government is involved in talks.

He also pointed towards the important security interests of the United States in the region and added that he has so far not received any direction to reduce the nearly 14,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

This comes as the U.S. President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
had earlier said that the U.S. forces would be withdrawn from Afghanistan if a peace agreement was reached with the Taliban

group.
