Who is Kim Han-Sol, son of slain Kim Jong-nam and heir to North Korean regime?
The son of Kim Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korean ruler Kim Jong-un assassinated in Malaysia on 13 February, made a rare video appearance, speaking publicly for the first time since his father's death.

The video was published on 7 March by the Cheollima Civil Defense, an organisation that focuses on rescuing North Korean defectors and refugees, and appeared to show the 21-year-old, who identified himself as "Kim Han-sol from North Korea, part of the Kim family".

Who is Kim Han-sol?

Kim Han-sol first attracted international attention when he moved to Bosnia to study at the United World College in Mostar, an international boarding school offering a multicultural learning environment and a mission to create a peaceful and sustainable future. He was the first North Korean student to attend the school, and indeed one of the first members of the secretive North Korean ruling family to be interviewed in Western media.

Speaking to Finnish broadcaster YLE in 2012, Kim Han-sol talked about his life, his relationship to his family and his hopes for the future.

Born in North Korea, he said he lived an ordinary yet isolated life in the country, until he moved to Macau after his father, who had been tipped to be the first in line to Kim Jong-il succession, reportedly fell out of favour with the regime after attempting to enter Japan to visit Disneyland with a fake passport in 2011. He would still come back to North Korea to visit his relatives, presumably his mother's family as he said he never met his paternal grandfather.

At his school in Macau he met people from other countries, including the US and South Korea, which sparked a desire about seeing more of the world and leaving Macau to study elsewhere. After graduating from UWC Mostar, Kim Han-sol moved to France in 2013 to study for a Bachelor degree in social science at the Sciences Po campus of Le Havre, where students follow the Europe-Asia programme. Following the assassination of Kim Jong-un's uncle Jang Song-thaek, Kim Han-sol was assigned police protection and asked journalists to leave him alone, as reported by South Korean media.

Where is Kim Han-sol now?

His current whereabouts are unknown. South Korean intelligence officers said they believe his family where living until recently in Macau under Chinese government protection, the New York Times reported.

In the video posted by the Cheollima Civil Defense, Kim Han-sol said he is with his mother and sister. The group said they assisted the three family members to relocate them to safety, but that the family's whereabouts will not be addressed. In a statement, the group thanks the governments of the Netherlands, China, the US and a fourth, unnamed one, for the support received in helping the family.

According to British tabloids, Kim Han-sol was admitted to Oxford University to further his education, but had to turn down the offer after his father's assassination. In the 2012 interview, Kim Han-sol said that after completing his studies, he was going to focus on volunteering and peace-building projects. "I have always dreamed one day I will go back and make things better, make it easier for all the people there," he told the interviewer.

What does Kim Han-sol think of Kim Jong-un?

Kim Han-sol said in the 2012 interview he never met neither neither his grandfather Kim Jong-il nor Kim Jong-un, who succeeded him as the country's supreme leader after his death in December 2011.

In fact, he hardly even know who his paternal grandfather was and only understood later in life he was North Korea's ruler, after piecing together conversations his parents had. "I really did not know if he knew I existed". Kim Han-sol said he was living the life of an ordinary citizen in North Korea, before the family left the country to live in Macau. "My dad was definitely not really interested in politics. I really don't know how he [Kim Jong-un] became a dictator ... It was between him and my grandfather," he added.

He expressed a strong desire for the reunification of the country. "I also dream of reunification because it's really sad that I can't go to the other side [South Korea] and see my friends there."

He added: "It is just political issues that divide the nation in half."

And a demilitarized zone with lots of barbed wire and land mines, and a Communist dictator, and an army over 1 million in size. Other than that, he's spot on!

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran Commander: U.S. Ship Changed Course Toward Iranians On Saturday
A U.S. Navy ship changed course toward Iranian Revolutionary Guard vessels in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, a guard commander was quoted as saying on Wednesday while issuing a warning.
Careful, caveman. We have this thing called "video" these days.
A U.S. official told Reuters on Monday that multiple fast-attack vessels from the Revolutionary Guard had come within 600 yards (550 meters) of the USNS Invincible, a tracking ship, forcing it to change direction.

But guard commander Mehdi Hashemi said the incident, the first of note between the countries' navies in those waters since January, was the fault of the U.S. ship, telling the Fars news agency: "The unprofessional actions of the Americans can have irreversible consequences,"
Yeah. We happened to have some fast boats out there and the US ship turned towards them.
Years of mutual animosity eased when Washington lifted sanctions on Tehran last year after a deal to curb Iran's nuclear ambitions. But major differences remain over Iran's ballistic missile program and conflicts in Syria and Iraq.

Iranian president Hassan Rouhani, without referring to the Hormuz incident, also gave a warning on Wednesday.

"If Iran's ignorant enemies think about invading Iran they should know that our armed forces are much stronger than 1980 when Iraq attacked," he said in a speech broadcast live on state TV.
Who's talking about invading anybody?
While still a U.S. presidential candidate in September, Donald Trump vowed that any Iranian vessels that harassed the U.S. Navy in the Gulf would be "shot out of the water."
C'mon Don. Git 'er dun.
Trump's administration said on Tuesday it would show "great strictness" over restrictions on Iran's activities under the nuclear deal with major powers, but gave little indication of what that might mean.

The last serious naval incident was in January when a U.S. destroyer fired three warning shots at four Iranian fast-attack vessels near the Strait after they closed in at high speed and disregarded repeated requests to slow down.
Shoot the lead boat and the two "enthusiastic wingmen" and the rest will scatter.
Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis said in Washington on Monday that dangerous interactions were of concern because they could lead to a "miscalculation or an accidental provocation."

"We actually had seen quite an improvement in Iran's behavior until recently," he said.
'Cause you're not shooting them out of the water.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Ivanka Trump Fashion Brand Reports Record Sales Despite Retailer Boycotts
Ivanka Trump’s brand generally makes the headlines for all the wrong reasons. If companies are not dropping the collection, Donald Trump’s senior advisor, Kellyanne Conway, is being accused of violating federal ethics law for making an on-air sales pitch for the line of clothes and accessories.
Thus ends the paragraph of obligatory badmouthing by the MFM/Opposition party.
But it appears the slew of controversies have not had a negative effect on the brand’s recent sales. Despite a mounting campaign to boycott President Trump’s daughter’s line of products, the brand claims it saw record sales in February.

The collection said they had some of the highest performing weeks since the brand was launched last month.

"Since the beginning of February, they were some of the best performing weeks in the history of the brand," Abigail Klem, the company's new president, told Refinery 29. "For several different retailers Ivanka Trump was a top performer online, and in some of the categories it was the [brand’s] best performance ever."

Lyst, an e-commerce aggregator which tracks purchasing data from thousands of retailers, told The Independent the brand's sales increased by 346 per cent between January to February of this year.

What’s more, it found February 2017 brand sales had increased by 557 per cent when compared to average orders in 2016. The brand was ranked as no 11 in sales on Lyst for the month of February, a sharp increase from no 550 in January.

"Ivanka Trump brand has never ranked in as a top seller on our site," Sarah Tanner, Lyst's US public relations director, said. "To see such an extreme spike in one month is completely unheard of and came as a huge surprise to us."

The reason for the increase could potentially be linked to Trump supporters explicitly deciding to purchase the products to counter the boycott.
I wonder how the SJW business owners who refuse to sell to Trump supporters businesses are doing.
"I bought a pair of her shoes, they are great and classy just like Ivanka trump. Boycott all stores that drop her line," said one person on Twitter.
FU too, you lying sack-of-$hit executives at Nordstrom's.
"On behalf of the anti Trumper's and boycott Trump products . I Bought Ivanka Handbag. Shoes tomorrow," chipped in another.
Maybe I will, too. ;-)

Perhaps the slew of nonsense controversies has actually spurred conservatives and sane people to support Ivanka's fashion brand. It's the opposite of a boycott and its powerful stuff.

Cook County Man Who Beat Murder Case Killed Minutes After Leaving Jail
A man who beat his murder case when prosecutors failed to give him a speedy trial was killed minutes after leaving Cook County Jail on Monday night, according to authorities.
I hope he appreciated how slowly the wheels of justice grind.
Kamari Belmont, 23, was being held on murder and robbery charges after he allegedly shot a man during a robbery and robbed another man a few hours later in 2015. The man he shot died weeks later.

Cook County prosecutors dropped the murder charges the end of January after allowing too much time to elapse under the state’s speedy trial statute, according to court records and Belmont’s attorney. The robbery charges remained and Belmont was ordered held on a $100,000 bond.

At 5:30 p.m. Monday, a friend of Belmont posted the required $10,000 on the bond and Belmont was released at 11:12 p.m., according to jail officials.

Belmont was a few block of the jail when a white SUV pulled up to his car on California Avenue and someone inside started shooting, police said. Belmont was hit several times.
Once again, proving the private sector is way more nimble and responsive than government.
The SUV ran a red light as it sped off and crashed into a car near Interstate 55, police said. Those inside ran away. Belmont collapsed in the street and died at the scene.

"Oh my God, I can’t believe it," said Belmont’s attorney, Michael Johnson, who said he has known Belmont’s family for more than two decades. He said he’d seen Belmont at the jail recently as the family put together the bail money.

"I told him, once he gets out he’s got to get out of the neighborhood," Johnson said. "Unfortunately this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this."

But Johnson said he didn’t believe Belmont’s killing was street justice. The armed robbery and murder weren’t gang-related, Johnson said, and he didn't think it possible that word spread that quickly of Belmont's release from jail.
Sounds like this guy has the same problem liberals do with their worldview, too.
The shooting and robberies occurred on May 1, 2015. The person who was shot, Sorrell Marshall, 40, died three weeks later.

Belmont and another man, Terrance Hogan, 23, were arrested the night of the shooting and initially charged with attempted murder and armed robbery. The charges were not upgraded to murder until nearly a year later, in April 2016, according to a timeline compiled by jail officials.

It wasn’t clear why prosecutors waited so long to file murder charges. However, Marshall's death was not immediately ruled a homicide by the Cook County medical examiner's office, which initially marked the case as pending further investigation.

But the clock under the speedy trial statute had started ticking with the attempted murder charges. The murder charges did not reset the clock because they were based on the same set of facts, according to a three-page motion from attorneys for Hogan and Belmont.

Prosecutors had no choice but to drop the charges, Belmont's attorney said.

A representative Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s office did not respond to a request for comment.

Marshall was shot after he dropped off his girlfriend near her apartment at 37th and Vincennes and parked when Belmont and Hogan tried to rob him, according to authorities. A struggle ensued, and Marshall was shot in the leg and the groin.

Belmont was arrested in Canaryville that night after he and Hogan held up a man in the South Loop, authorities said. A woman with the victim fled and flagged down a police car that tracked the phone to Canaryville.

Hogan was accidentally shot by police during the arrest, according to the police union at the time. He was arrested after he showed up at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center seeking treatment.

China urges US and N. Korea to avert 'head-on collision'
[Yahoo] China warned Wednesday that North Korea and the United States were like two trains racing towards a "head-on collision," calling on both sides to apply the brakes and avert a security crisis.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi's warning came after a cascade of events that has sent regional tensions soaring, including provocative North Korean missile tests and annual US-South Korean wargames that infuriate Pyongyang.

Beijing itself is particularly concerned over an American missile-defence system being rolled out in South Korea as a shield against the North Korean threat, but which Wang said also "undermines China's strategic security."
Seems China is getting seriously worried that we might blast their puppet off the map.
He called on North Korea to suspend its nuclear and missile activities in exchange for the US and South Korea halting the military exercises.

"The two sides are like two accelerating trains coming toward each other with neither side willing to give way," Wang said at a press conference on the sidelines of China's annual parliament session.

"The question is: are the two sides really ready for a head-on collision? Our priority now is to flash the red light and apply the brakes on both trains."

Pyongyang blasted at least four missiles toward Japan on Monday, three of which splashed down in waters within Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone, saying they were tests for a possible strike on US bases in Japan.

Wang said China's proposal could help bring the US and North Korea back to negotiations on ending Pyongyang's weapons programmes.
Good luck China, but it seems your little hellspawn has decided to go without you and take on the world. Enjoy having a fully armed Japan (with possible nukes) and South Korea working together because of this.

Is Medicaid Contributing to America's Opioid Epidemic?
[Political Calculations] Nicholas Eberstadt recently raised an interesting question regarding the role of Medicaid, the United States' welfare program that provides free health insurance for Americans with low incomes, when he commented on how it may very well have directly contributed to the nation's rising problem with opioid addiction.

It occurred to us that we have the ability to determine whether Medicaid is contributing to the nation's growing opioid epidemic by taking advantage of a natural experiment made possible by the Affordable Care Act. More popularly known as "Obamacare", the primary means by which the ACA has expanded health insurance coverage in the U.S. has been through the expansion of eligibility in the U.S.' Medicaid welfare program, where the threshold for eligibility was raised from 100% of the federal poverty limit to 138% of the federal poverty limit in states that agreed to expand their Medicaid programs.

But, not all states agreed to expand their Medicaid program when the Affordable Care Act went into effect on 1 January 2014. From that time through 2015, 28 states and the District of Columbia had chosen to participate in the Affordable Care Act's expansion of eligibility for Medicaid, while 22 others opted to not do so during those years.

Afghanistan
IS gunmen dressed as medics kill 30 at Kabul military hospital
[BBC] More than 30 people have been killed after attackers dressed as doctors stormed the largest military hospital in Kabul, Afghan officials say.

Militants armed with guns and grenades gained entry after one detonated explosives at a hospital gate and then opened fire on staff and patients.

Commandos who landed on the Sardar Daud hospital roof killed all four attackers after several hours of fighting.

The so-called Islamic State (IS) group has claimed the attack.

The Taliban has denied any involvement.

More than 50 people were also wounded, the defence ministry said.

President Ashraf Ghani said the attack at the 400-bed hospital "trampled all human values".

"In all religions, a hospital is regarded as an immune site and attacking it is attacking the whole of Afghanistan," he said.

Government
Joseph Curl - Washington Times: We live in truly terrifying times
[Wash Times] That headline is not hyperbole. It is sadly -- and horrifyingly -- true.

Now, it’s not Donald Trump. We’ve had less skilled politicians as chief executive, and we just lived through eight years with a guy whose only real job outside of sucking off the government teat was "community organizer," whatever that is. No, a billionaire reality star is not the horror.

And it’s not the coming automation boom, which will put millions of people out of work and further consolidate wealth in the hands of the richest. It’s not even the looming stock market crash that will occur when the bubble bursts (the thing about bubbles is they always burst, sooner or later).

No, the terror is from within. The horror comes from our own government, and especially the intelligence community, where officials seem to have gone rogue and where anything -- and everything -- is now in play.

The frightening reality is that a president laid seeds to destroy his successor -- who, as it turns out, he targeted with the secret spy organizations at his beck and call. During the last days of his term, Barack Obama set out to sabotage Mr. Trump by spreading intelligence information throughout the federal government, as well as to foreign governments. In a governmentwide effort, Mr. Obama and his cronies "scrambled to spread" damaging information about Mr. Trump and his associates meeting with the Russians, The New York Times reported.

"As Inauguration Day approached, Obama White House officials grew convinced that the intelligence was damning and that they needed to ensure that as many people as possible inside government could see it, even if people without security clearances could not," The Times wrote.

The Wikileaks 'Vault 7' release is quite interesting. Reportedly, the Klingon Center for Cyber Intelligence (CCI), had over 5,000 registered users and had produced more than a thousand hacking systems, Trojans, viruses, and other ‘weaponized’ malware.' Could there have been one or two (Eric Snowden lites) within the 5,000 who failed to appreciate the goodness of their efforts ?

The existence (sanctioned or unsanctioned) of a 'fake hacking' effort should not be entirely dismissed. Disinformation, it's what they do, those deep within the swamp.

Do I have to wear a tin foil hat if I speculate that the hacking of the DNC email server was really done by the CIA? Is it too much to suggest that they commandeered a Russian server and hacked the DNC with their Russian bot? Am I completely over the rainbow if I suggest the plan all along was to associate Trump with Putin and thereby delegitimize his presidency?

Palestinian Authority Names Youth Camp After Terrorist Who Killed 38 Israelis
[Breibart] TEL AVIV ‐ The Palestinian Authority named a youth camp this week after a female terrorist responsible for one of the worst terror attacks in Israel’s history, which claimed the lives of 38 civilians including 13 children.

Known as the Coastal Road Massacre, the attack took place on March 11, 1978, when Dalal Mughrabi and several other Fatah terrorists hijacked a bus on Israel’s coastal highway, killing 38 people and wounding more than 70.

On Sunday, Israeli NGO Palestinian Media Watch reported that the PA named the Jericho youth camp to honor Mughrabi’s memory.

The "Brothers of Dalal" youth camp in Jericho was initiated by the PLO Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, headed by Fatah Central Committee Secretary Jibril Rajoub (pictured), who is a known inciter to terror, making incendiary remarks in interviews on the PA’s official television such as describing terrorists as the "heroes and a crown on the head of every Palestinian" and musing, "If we had a nuke, we’d have used it [against Israel]this very morning."

Report: Democrat Groups Paid Ransoms to Hide Protester Funding
H/t Instapundit
Over a dozen Democratic groups were approached with ransom demands by Russian hackers over protester funding information, according to a Monday report from Bloomberg.

The liberal Center for American Progress was one of the groups that was approached by what FBI officials report is the same group behind the Democratic National Committee hacks committed last year.

Bloomberg reports that some of the groups paid the demanded ransom in an attempt to hide sensitive data that revealed the group's role in funding anti-Trump protesters nationwide.

Sarah Hoyt: Race and Racism
Some, much needed, perspective
There is one thing in which liberal activists are right: everyone is racist. There is one thing in which they’re wrong: everyone is racist.

Racism is not confined to white people -- and the idea that it equals prejudice plus power is an interesting (and stupid, as usual) Marxist distortion we’ll deal with later -- it’s a characteristic of being human.

Why? Oh, like most other things because it was evolutionarily sound. I.e. those who had it survived and had more kids.

The thing is it’s not so much "racism" as in discriminating against another race. It’s "Fear of the stranger."

...In pre-human times, with many bands and tribelets living close enough for kids to stray, the name for a kid who thought that his family or strangers were equivalent was -- at least if we go by how our closest relatives, the chimps, treat young from other bands -- "dinner."

...The fear of the stranger that goes under "racism" in our society is the fear of people like us and yet not like us.

And it’s not racism in the sense that the media and liberals (who be cray) portray it. If you believe racism as they portray it, then you believe paler people are born with an instinctive fear of African features and dark skin.

...So if the fear isn’t of dark skin or African features, what is it a fear of? "People who are not like my family/tribe/village to whom I’m accustomed" is a better way to describe it.

When I was a little girl, living in Portugal, I saw all kind of distinctions when I first entered elementary school. Some of my classmates were much darker than I, some were blond. Some were tall, some were short. Being sort of medium, I never had that trigger fear of the "stranger" or at least not towards appearance.

It took going back after 30 years here to realize as a child I’d seen differences that weren’t there.

...It took my going back after 30 years here and getting stuck watching some sort of multi-school gymnastics competition to have the stunning realization of "Heavens, all these kids look like cousins."

This is because the human brain in a highly homogeneous population will find the most minor differences to attach "stranger danger" to.

...If kids are raised together in a great variety of skin colors and hair colors, they don’t even notice them. My kids who attended an urban school, rarely remembered to tell me the race of their friends. Which really wasn’t an issue, except when the friends did the same and their parents did have an issue with friendships between races.

Because again, it is fear of the stranger. Take an American kid who was raised with all skin colors, though, and introduce someone who dresses funny and the fear of the stranger activates. Which is why we’re now using (and fostering) "racism" for things that have bloody nothing to do with race.

...The justification for this is the delightful Marxist illusion that racism = prejudice + power. Have I mentioned I thought Marx -- who at any rate is not the originator of this illusion. That’s his followers trying to make his crazy cakes theory work -- and his followers are all some form of Aspergers, and unable to see things outside what they’re classified as?

...Even if racism REALLY were a thing of power and prejudice, it would apply to every "race" of human, ever. But it’s not. Racism is a fear of the stranger.

And our industrial-education-entertainment complex has the ability to cut out entire groups of people, point them out as different and thereby CREATE racism against them, which then requires intervention to make them "non discriminated against."

#1  It's not so much racism per se as prejudice. And everyone's prejudiced to one degree or another.
For instance, if you've ever helped your twit of a brother in law get a job, just because your sister asked you to, that's basic human prejudice.
Everyone's capable of doing the wrong thing for the right reason.

Do Republicans and Libertarians need Guardian Angels?
A long post, a rarity, by Dr Helen
Do you remember the Guardian Angels in NYC who started helping protect people around NYC on subways and other places when no one else would?

...If you lived in NYC before Giuliani was mayor like I did, you will understand why it was so important to have a group who at least gave the appearance of being in charge. In the years of Koch and Dinkins, the city was a mess; the city simultaneously cracked down on law abiding citizens and rarely helped against the criminal element present.

This troubling dynamic is much like what is happening around the country today. Universities across the country are allowing violent mobs of leftists to attack libertarian and Republican speakers (or anyone else who is in their way) while protecting or ignoring their violence.

...It may be that those on the Right need a large group of Guardian Angels to be present when they speak, or are in settings where there is a likelihood of violence. It may be that this show of solidarity is all that is needed, hopefully the Guardian Angels won't be needed at all. But what do we do when no one else is willing to protect the people who stand for us or for those of us who want to speak out but are shut down or worse?

This is what I find most disturbing about the recent 'troubles'. College students have always been down for some crazy. Ask Pol Pol, Mao or The Weathermen.

The traditional social agreement in the West is the cops provide order (as well as collect revenue) and we don't go about armed to the teeth. Lately the cops seem to be standing down and ignoring riots. Whether this is by direct order (lots of riots in Blue cities) or indifference is hard to tell. But the result is the same - people will be responsible for their own security. And they will ask themselves, if the cops don't care about me, do we care about them?

At least 16 Jewish sites threatened in sixth wave of harassment
[JTA] At least 12 Jewish community centers and institutions across North America and four Anti-Defamation League offices have received threats of lethal attack, the sixth such wave since the beginning of the year.

As of Tuesday afternoon, threats had been reported at Jewish institutions in Massachusetts, Illinois, Wisconsin, Maryland, Oregon, Florida, Alabama and at least two community centers in New York, according to Secure Community Network, the security arm of the Jewish Federations of North America. In addition, two threats were directed toward Canadian JCCs, in Toronto and London, Ontario.

Some threats were called in over the phone, others were emailed.

Chicago5, NBC’s reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
affiliate, reported a bomb threat at the Chicago Jewish Day School on the city’s North Side. The Boston Herald reported that a day school housed at Temple Beth Shalom in Framingham, Massachusetts, and the Solomon Schechter Day School in Newton, Massachusetts, were both evacuated on Tuesday.

At the JCC in Syracuse, New York, the threat was different in nature from the others, according to Paul Goldenberg, the SCN director, who declined to elaborate. On Twitter, the Syracuse JCC said people inside had sheltered in place before getting the all-clear.

Meanwhile,
...back at the precinct house, Don Calamari's lawyer was getting even redder in the face...
the ADL said its national office in New York, its office in Washington, D.C., and its regional offices in Atlanta and Boston had been threatened.

"This is not ’normal.’ We will not be deterred or intimidated," ADL’s CEO, Jonathan Greenblatt, said in a statement. "It is time for action, and we call on the administration and Congress to take concrete steps to catch those threatening the Jewish community."

The Portland, Oregon, threat came in Monday evening by email. The JCC alerted local police and the FBI and closed early for a sweep.

In Rochester, the evacuation of members and staff on Tuesday was ordered shortly before 6 a.m., the local ABC affiliate 13WHAM reported. About 75 people were evacuated from the building. Parents whose children attend the JCC day care were notified and asked to make alternate child care arrangements for the day, according to the Democrat & Chronicle newspaper.

Local and state coppers and FBI agents reportedly were on the scene to sweep the building.

A JCC Toronto client posted photos on Facebook of the downtown building being evacuated. "We are huddled inside the Second Cup where they are giving out free coffee and tea," she said, referring to the Canadian coffee shop chain.

Ron Halber, the director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington, said a threat to the JCC in Rockville, Maryland, was emailed late Monday night, and necessitated an additional sweep of the premises with bomb-sniffing dogs, in addition to the routine daily sweep the JCC undergoes. There was no evacuation, he said.

"The person who is doing this will fail," Halber said. "If anything it’s bringing people together, it makes people want to stand up more, this is being a catalyst for greater Jewish involvement and pride."

Goldenberg, the SCN director, said that in every instance protocols were observed and went smoothly.

"The protocols and processes that these institutions have in place have gone smoothly," he said. "Our constituents and members have remained safe."

More than 100 Jewish institutions, mostly JCCs, have received bomb threats since the beginning of the year. The last two weeks saw vandalism at Jewish cemeteries in Philadelphia, St. Louis and Rochester,
...the Rochester cemetery gravestones, were determined to have fallen over due to the combination of neglect and weather...
as well as two more waves of bomb threats called into JCCs, schools and institutions across the country, representing the fourth and fifth waves of such harassment this year. No bomb was found after any of the calls.

Entire US Senate demands Trump take action on threats to Jewish centers

[IsraelTimes] Open letter to the administration from all 100 senators comes amid a sixth wave of threats to Jewish institutions across North America.

Brooklyn man arrested for drawing swastikas at Penn Station

[IsraelTimes] A Brooklyn man was been arrested for drawing swastikas and other graffiti in men’s bathrooms at Manhattan’s Penn Station.

New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority, or MTA, said in a statement Monday that detectives from the transit service arrested Pasquale Vargas, 65.
Not a sudden burst of youthful folly, then.
He is accused of multiple incidents of hate-crime graffiti at Penn Station since February 28, according to the MTA.

Vargas admitted to writing the graffiti during an interview with MTA police, according to the statement. He was arrested while carrying a black Sharpie permanent marker in his bag. He was charged with eight counts of criminal mischief in the fourth degree, which are being prosecuted as hate crimes.

In November, New York Governor Cuomo directed the creation of the State Police Hate Crimes Unit to investigate and offer assistance to other law enforcement agencies investigating potential hate crimes.

Last week, the New York Police Department announced that Anti-Semitic incidents are up 94 percent in New York City over this time last year.

Through the first two months of this year, 35 anti-Semitic incidents have been reported, compared to 18 through February 2016.
Update from The Times of Israel at 11:30 a.m. ET:
Bomb threats are emailed to four Jewish community centers following a wave of threats that targeted 16 Jewish institutions on Tuesday.

JCCs in Colorado, Delaware, Connecticut and Vancouver, Canada, receive bomb threats via email either last night or this morning, according to local reports and Paul Goldenberg, director of the Secure Community Network, which coordinates security across Jewish organizations.

The emails, according to Goldenberg, appear to be the tail end of a wave of bomb threats Tuesday that targeted JCCs, Jewish day schools and several offices of the Anti-Defamation League.

They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) holy warrior group are to stand trial in Jordan on charges of planning a deadly suicide kaboom last year on the Syrian border, a judge said Tuesday.

"We have referred the file of the five accused, who are Arab nationals, to the state security court to try them in the case of the terrorist bombings of Rukban," Judge Ziad al-Edwan said.

He said the trial would open "within days".

IS claimed the suicide kaboom last June 21 that killed seven soldiers at a military post in Rukban, near a no man's land area where thousands of Syrian refugees are now stranded and where the frontiers of Iraq, Syria and Jordan meet.

"The security apparatus of the armed forces was able to arrest (the accused) on the Jordanian-Syrian border," Edwan said.

Amman had not previously announced any arrests in connection with the attack.

"It seems they belong to the ISIS terrorist gang and are linked to the bombings through planning with the suicide attacker who carried it out," the judge said, using an Arabic acronym for IS.

Edwan said the five accused had monitored the border, chosen the time of the attack and the route to be taken by the explosives-rigged car, as well as having filmed the attack.

Soon after the attack, the army declared Jordan's desert regions that stretch northeast to Syria and east to Iraq "closed military zones", stranding refugees in no man's land.

Jordan is part of the US-led coalition fighting IS in Syria and Iraq.

The June bombing came two weeks after a gunman killed five Jordanian intelligence officers in a Paleostinian refugee camp north of the capital.

The UN refugee agency says it has registered more than 650,000 Syrian refugees in Jordan since Syria's war broke out in 2011. Amman says it hosts 1.3 million Syrian refugees.

Watch: Trump surprises White House tour visitors
[WashingtonExaminer] President Trump surprised White House visitors on one of the first restarted tours of his administration Tuesday morning.

A video released by White House special assistant Cliff Sims showed Trump walking out to greet tour group visitors, who started to scream and cheer.

The scene happened right in front of a portrait of former first lady and 2016 rival Hillary Clinton.
[heh]
The White House had been closed to visitors since Trump took office in January, a normal pause in public tours during the transition. Both Democrat and Republican lawmakers complained last month, however, that the Trump White House was taking longer than most to reopen to visitors.

The majority of the people on Tuesday's tour were fifth-grade students from Briarwood Christian School in Birmingham, Ala. A 10-year-old boy from the school was beckoned out of the crowd by Trump, who gave him a hug as the other visitors cheered.

Islamic Gold Star Father Khizr Khan Makes Hate Hoax List
[Moonbattery] Remember Khizr Khan, the Islamic Gold Star father whom the Democrat Party and its media swung by the ankles and bashed over Trump’s head? He is back in the news again -- this time for achieving a slot on the Hate Hoax List.

Khan weeps that he had to cancel a speaking engagement in Toronto because Trump has Islamophobically subjected him to some vague sort of travel ban. Daily Wire notes the following regarding this "truly bizarre story":

Khan did not specify which person and from what agency told him that his "travel privileges are being reviewed"; no one is able to confirm it. It also doesn’t make any sense because Khan is a U.S. citizen; therefore he cannot be barred from traveling to Canada. Khan has declined further comment to various news outlets that have asked him for more information.

The Daily Beast tried to find the government agency responsible for forbidding Khan from traveling to Canada, but got nowhere.

It appears that Khan resorted to a hate hoax to promote his politics and to get an extension on his expired 15 minutes.

Kurdish-led SDF forces cut off ISIS supply line between Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor

’s (ISIS) jihadists as a supply line between the cities of Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa‐the group’s de facto capital in Syria.

"Our forces today made a remarkable advance against ISIS snuffies and cut off the Raqqa-Deir ez-Zor route," the SDF leadership said in a statement to ARA News, using another acronym for ISIS.

The progress came after the Syrian Democratic Forces expelled ISIS bandidos gunnies from seven villages alongside the road between the two major cities in northeastern Syria.

"We have now tightened the siege on ISIS snuffies inside Raqqa, and the SDF-led Euphrates Wrath Operation will continue until the terror group is isolated completely inside Raqqa city," the SDF said.

After losing the key supply route, ISIS will most likely be unable to bring any more military reinforcements into Raqqa city.

2,100 "Iranian" fighters said killed in Iraq, Syria
That is to say, they were on Iran's payroll and were at least nominally Shiite.
[IsraelTimes] More than 2,000 fighters sent from Iran have been killed in Iraq and Syria, the head of Iran’s veterans’ affairs office said Tuesday.

"Some 2,100 deaders have been martyred so far in Iraq or other places defending the holy mausoleums," Mohammad Ali Shahidi told the state-run IRNA news agency.

Shahidi, who is head of Iran’s Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, was speaking at a conference on martyrdom culture in Tehran.

The figure was more than double the number he gave in November, which referred only to Syria.

Iran is, with Russia, the main military backer of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

group in Iraq.

Shahidi did not provide details on the nationalities of those killed.

Iran oversees "volunteer" fighters recruited from among its own nationals as well as Shiite communities in neighboring Afghanistan and Pakistain.

The families of those killed in battle are given Iranian citizenship under a law passed last May.

Tehran refers to the fighters as "defenders of the shrines" -- a reference to Shiite holy sites in Iraq and Syria that have been targeted by Sunni holy warriors.

Ukrainian foreign minister says 4K Russian troops in Donbas

Ukrainian foreign minister Pavel Klimkin testified in Washington Tuesday that the Ukrainian government has proof the Russian military has been supplying the separatists in Donetsk and Lugansk with heavy military equipment, munitions and as many as 4,200 troops, according to Russian language news accounts.

According to a news report in lb.ua, Klimkin gave his remarks to a subcommittee on State Department funding.

According to Klimkin, 400 Russian tanks, 800 armored vehicles and 200 rocket artillery launchers are part of the inventories of the two rebel republics.

It is generally known in Russian media that 40,000 rebel troops are under arms in the Donetsk republic, so the 4,200 Russian regulars represent about 10 percent of the total, and most of those are probably rear echelon troops there to oversee maintenance and repair of the Russian equipment.

In a separate report in korrespondent.net, the Ukrainian internal security agency, the SBU provided data to investigators at The Hague that many of the shells used by rebel troops in Lugansk and Donetsk are of Russian manufacture. In the early going, rebel media tried to put forward the idea that all the heavy equipment such as tanks and infantry fighting vehicles were battlefield salvage, and not shipped across the Russian border. The same applied to heavy ammunition such as mortar shells, and artillery and rocket shells.

In the meantime, artillery fire from both sides continued.

According to a report in lb.ua, rebel mortar fire hit locations near Donetsk city, including at Severnoye, Avdievka, Zaitsevo and Verkhnetoretskye.

In the south near Mariupol rebel artillery hit Ukrainian positions at Talakovka and Taramchuk. Rebel mortar fire was reported at Vodyanoye, Marinka and Talakovka.

In Lugansk, rebel artillery fire was recorded at Krimenskoye, while rebel mortar fire struck Ukrainian positions at Novotoshkovskoye and Krimenskoye.

The Ukrainian ministry of defense said four Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in the artillery shelling.

On the night of March 6th to March 7th, Ukrainian artillery hit several locations in Donetsk. The locations hit included Trudovskoye, Aleksandrovka, Luganskoye, Yelenovka, Zaitsevo, Gorlovka Spartak and Yasinovataya.

Near Mariupol, Ukrainian artillery struck rebel positions at Sahanka, Kominternovo, Leninskoye Oktyabrskoye and Novoazovskoye.

Rebel media claimed that Ukrainians fired on their troops almost 4,000 times over the previous 24 hours, including small arms fire.

#Obamagate: Exposing The Obama Deep State
[FrontPage] Obama’s third term has begun. Our Republic is in danger.

After Trump secured the nomination, Obama’s people filed a wiretapping request. As he was on the verge of winning, they did it again. After he won, they are doing everything they can to bring him down.

It was always going to come down to this.

One is the elected President of the United States. The other is the Anti-President who commands a vast network that encompasses the organizers of OFA, the official infrastructure of the DNC and Obama Anonymous, a shadow government of loyalists embedded in key positions across the government.

A few weeks after the election, I warned that Obama was planning to run the country from outside the White House. And that the "Obama Anonymous" network of staffers embedded in the government was the real threat. Since then Obama’s Kalorama mansion has become a shadow White House. And the Obama Anonymous network is doing everything it can to bring down an elected government.

Valerie Jarrett has moved into the shadow White House to plot operations against Trump. Meanwhile Tom Perez has given him control of the corpse of the DNC after fending off a Sandernista bid from Keith Ellison. Obama had hollowed out the Democrat Party by diverting money to his own Organizing for America. Then Hillary Clinton had cannibalized it for her presidential bid through Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Donna Brazile. Now Obama owns the activist, OFA, and organizational, DNC, infrastructure.

But that’s just half the picture.

#3  I'm afraid Greefield has it about right:

The Obama network is an illegal shadow government. Even its “light side” as an opposition group is very legally dubious. Its “shadow side” is not only illegal, but a criminal attack on our democracy.

Obama no longer legally holds power. His Deep State network is attempting to overturn the results of a presidential election using government employees whose allegiance is to a shadow White House. Tactics that were illegal when he was in office are no longer just unconstitutional, they are treasonous.

Obama Inc. has become a state within a state. It is a compartmentalized network of organizations, inside and outside the government, that claim that they are doing nothing illegal as individual groups because they are technically following the rules within each compartment, but the sheer scope of the illegality lies in the covert coordination between these “revolutionary cells” infecting our country.

It is a criminal conspiracy of unprecedented scope. Above all else, it is the most direct attack yet on a country in which governments are elected by the people, not by powerful forces within the government.

Afghanistan
Women remain underrepresented amongst Taliban leadership
[TheSparkMagazine] It's been revealed that women remain underrepresented amongst the leadership of the Afghan terrorist group the Taliban. An internal review carried out by the Taliban, and leaked to the media, shows that at present women hold 'roughly 0%' of senior leadership roles within the organisation, and that this is consistent across all departments.

The leaked review has rekindled debate about whether there is institutionalised sexism within the Taliban, with some campaigners accusing the group of discrimination. Following the leak the Afghan Feminist Council released a statement saying that the group is 'deeply concerned' about the situation, and suggesting that the Taliban might suffer 'reputational damage' if they don't do more to improve gender diversity within their top ranks.

Following the revelations Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada held a press conference to address the allegations. After accusing the assembled journalists of spreading 'fake news' and 'treating me so unfairly' Hibatullah denied that the Taliban are in any way sexist. Hibatullah argued that there is 'absolutely no discrimination' within the Taliban noting that anyone with an 'enormous bushy beard' can hold a leadership position 'regardless of gender'.

The sexism row is just the latest controversy to hit the Taliban, and follows claims that the group is transphobic and ableist. As a result student unions at several British universities are reportedly considering banning Taliban speakers from holding meetings on campus, on the grounds that the groups lack of diversity could cause students 'significant emotional distress'.

began in February, according to the commander of the army’s Counter-Terrorism Force.

Abdul-Ghani al-Assadi said in statements quoted by Iraqi news websites on Tuesday that districts like Wadi Hajar, al-Sumoud, al-Maamoun, Tal al-Rayyan, al-Tayaran and Josaq had all seen ferocious fighting as they served as Islamic State’s primary defense lines, but have now become under government troops control.

Assadi’s announcement came a few hours after the Joint Operations Command said its forces recaptured a major government complex as well as the Turkish consulate building in western Mosul from IS murderous Moslems. The complex contains a courthouse, a main branch of the central bank and a police department besides other government agencies. Iraqi generals say the complex’s recapture could put the battle’s outcome in their favor. Troops had earlier retaken a vital bridge leading to the Old City, planning to use it as a channel for backup.

of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group have released new distressing execution photos as the terror group continues to face growing pressures from the Afghan and US forces during the counter-terrorism operations.

The group released the horrific execution photos in social media on Sunday night which purportedly shows the two men are executed in different ways.

The incident has reportedly taken place in the restive Achin district where two more beheading incidents were reported last week.

The loyalists of the terror group accuse the two men of working as spies for the government and execute one of the men with gunshot while the other one is beheaded.

The local officials in Achin said last week that two men had their heads chopped off and their dead bodies were left in the area in this district due to unknown charges.

The officials further added that the operation to destroy the two factories was launched around 8 pm local time and concluded in the early hours of Monday morning.

The provincial government media office in a statement said this is not the first time the Afghan forces have discovered and destroyed major heroin factories in this province but several factories were destroyed during the similar operations in the past.

This comes as there has been a sharp rise in opium cultivation, production and smuggling across the country during the recent months.

According to the last survey report, there has been a 43 per cent rise in opium cultivation in Afghanistan.

The survey jointly conducted by the Afghan authorities and United Nations

The report further added that estimates show a total of 4,800 metric tons of opium will be produced in 2016.

Pakistan must eliminate terror sanctuaries for own and regions stability: Atmar
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan National Security Adviser Mohammad Hanif Atmar has said the major terror sanctuaries are located in Pakistain, emphasizing that Islamabad must eliminate the safe havens for its own and regions stability.

Atmar made the remarks during his speech at the 19th Asian Conference on Combating Terrorism, evolving an Asian response arranged by Institute of Defense Studies and Analyses (IDSA) of India.

He said Islamabad has promised to take actions against the sanctuaries during the bilateral and multilateral summits, insisting that Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
’s demand is clear and that there are no good or bad terrorists, all are targeting the civilians, and all of them must be eliminated.

In the meantime, Atmar said at least 20 of the 98 groups designated as terror groups by the United States are operating in Afghanistan and the Afghan forces are committed to prevent the groups to reach to their goals in the country and in the region.

He also added that the Afghan government has not demanded military help from any country including India but the regional countries including India should increase their support to the Afghan forces in a bid to suppress the activities of the Death Eater groups.

Atmar said the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan is not a civil war but the Afghan forces are fighting the terror groups on behalf the region and the world as they are in the front line against terrorism.

According to the local government officials, the incident took place late on Monday night after at last 76 rockets were fired from the other side of the line.

Provincial police front man Faridullah Dehqan confirmed that the rockets landed in Sarkano and Dangam districts.

He said the shelling did not incur any casualties to the local residents.

This comes as the local residents in Sarkano district said Monday that a number of the Pak helicopters infiltrated inside the Afghan soil in this district and dropped several bombs and rockets.

However,

North Korea orders Malaysian ambassador out after its own envoy is expelled
[SCMP] North Korea’s expelled ambassador fired a final salvo at Malaysia on Monday over its investigation into the liquidation of the half-brother of Pyongyang’s leader, describing the probe as biased.

Speaking at Kuala Lumpur International Airport before his flight left, ambassador Kang Chol criticised what he called a "pretargeted investigation by the Malaysian police".

The murder of Kim Jong-nam with VX nerve agent at the same airport last month sparked an acrimonious dispute between the two countries.

the 11 suspects, eight of them minors, over the past few months, as part of an "intensive investigation" to stop attacks at the Bethlehem destination.

Citing interrogations and physical evidence, Sherlocks say they determined that the suspects would come to the area after school to throw rocks, Molotov cocktails and pipe bombs at the site and then flee.

The suspects all came from the nearby al-Ayda refugee camp, police say.
Ynet adds:
The investigation revealed that the suspects used to watch videos on Youtube from which they learned how to prepare the improvised devices.

Egypt to open Gaza border crossing twice monthly — report
[IsraelTimes] President Sissi said to order measure to ’lessen the suffering of Paleostinian people’ in the Strip.

The Egyptian government plans to open the Rafah border crossing with Gazoo twice a month, after years of traffic only being allowed through the border point intermittently, according to a report Monday.

Quoting top Egyptian security officials, the Ma’an Paleostinian wire service said that the order had come directly from Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi to "lessen the suffering of Paleostinian people in the Gazoo Strip."

Egypt has quietly cooperated with Israel in blockading the coastal enclave since the Islamist terror group Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", came to power in elections in 2006, but occasionally opens the Rafah crossing for three days at a time.

Israel says the blockade is needed to prevent arms smuggling.

The changes, while still in their infancy, mark a significant departure from what has been a tough Egyptian crackdown since the military ousted then-president Mohammed Morsi, in 2013.

Hamas, which rules the Gazoo Strip and is an offshoot of Morsi’s Moslem Brüderbund, enjoyed close relations with him and quickly fell into disfavor with the new government.

In recent months, Cairo has increased the number of people allowed to exit through the Rafah border crossing, Gazoo’s main gateway to the outside world.

Since January, the crossing has opened in both directions twice.

Egypt has also begun to allow Gazoo to import commercial goods through Rafah for the first time since 2013 and sent public signals that it is interested in improving relations.

Tensions continue between Kurds after Sinjar violence
[ARA] Tensions continued between Kurdish parties on Tuesday, even after festivities between groups affiliated to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) stopped last Friday, while negotiations between the two sides failed to reach any conclusion.

On Monday, supporters of the PKK-linked Democratic Union Party (PYD) attacked the building of the KDP-backed Kurdish National Council (KNC) in the Kurdish-Arab town of Serêkaniyê, despite promises of the local security police Asayish that KNC buildings will be protected after a KNC office was attacked.

Moreover, over 30 KNC members have been enjugged
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
in Syrian Kurdish cities, including in Kobane and the Hasakah province since the festivities in Sinjar.

In the meantime, thousands gathered to bury PKK fighter Orhan Boran, one of the seven PKK-linked fighters killed in festivities with the KDP-backed Rojava Peshmerga fighters.

Media sources close to the KNC said the PYD-linked Asayish police forced shop keepers to close their shops during the funeral in the city of Qamishli. It accused the Asayish of lowering Kurdish flags in the Kurdish neighbourhood of Meyselûn in Qamishli [also known as Qamislo].

Furthermore, the KDP in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan did not allow a pro-PKK protest and arrested several protestors earlier on Saturday. Swara Mahmud, a pro-PKK journalist at RojNews is reportedly still in prison in Erbil.

Heavy festivities broke out between Kurdish forces on Friday morning after 500 Syrian Kurdish Rojava Peshmergas entered the Yezidi town of Khanasor, which is dominated by the PKK-affiliated Sinjar Resistance Units (YBS).

Army disarms bombs near Gaza fence; cross-border fire reported
[IsraelTimes] Israeli soldiers located and disarmed two improvised bombs near the security fence surrounding the northern Gazoo Strip on Tuesday, the army said.

The Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
group said that one of its fighters was lightly injured in by an Israeli tank attack at an "observation post" near where the IEDs were found.

The Gazoo health ministry confirmed that a Paleostinian man had been lightly injured by the Israeli military near Jabaliya in the northern Gazoo Strip, but it was not clear if it was directly related to the IED incident.

A spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces said the army was aware of the reports and was investigating the claim.

The IEDs were placed in an area close to the security fence where Gazoo residents are not allowed to enter, but on the Paleostinian side of the barrier.

It was not immediately clear when the explosives were placed, the army said.

The military said the IEDs were "planted in order to attack IDF forces operating on the border."

Once the devices were disarmed, they were removed by the soldiers and handed over to Sherlocks to determine their origin.

Earlier in the day, Paleostinian media had reported Israeli troops and engineering vehicles operating on the Gazoo side of the security fence.

Tensions between Israel and terrorist groups in Gazoo have been running high recently, following a number of shooting and rocket attacks from the Strip against Israelis, and retaliatory Arclight airstrikes and shellings by the IDF.

Philippines: 23 Abu Sayyaf killed since hostage beheading
[ABS-CBN] At least 23 Abu Sayyaf militants were killed in Sulu in a series of attacks launched by Philippine troops against the rebels following the beheading of German hostage Jurgen Kantner on February 26.

Western Mindanao Command spokesman Carlito Galvez said four separate clashes were fought between the military and the Abu Sayyaf in Patikul and Indanan in Sulu, and in parts of Basilan. In the first three encounters, at least 14 rebels were reportedly killed, with six others injured. Nine other rebels were killed in a gun battle Sunday in Barangay lumipad in Talipao, also in Sulu.

Galvez said that soldiers also nabbed four Abu Sayyaf suspects in two separate areas in Basilan on February 27. He identified the rebels as Hamja Ummal, Asid Abdul Pagong, Kili Alvarez Sabtal, and Hamidid Pantasan. Ummal and Pagong were captured in Al-Barka town, while the two others were arrested in Tipo-Tipo.

Galvez said the suspects, who are all teenagers, had been providing vital information to the Abu Sayyaf by serving as lookouts in places where military forces frequently pass.

The military also discovered an Abu Sayyaf hideout in Al-Barka, with at least 30 makeshift bunkers and 16 foxholes.

Galvez acknowledged the help of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) who he said has been instrumental in some of their successful missions.

Europe
East German neo-Nazis face terror trial over refugee attacks
[IsraelTimes] In 2016, there were some 3,500 attacks against refugees and asylum seekers in Germany; 10 each day, on average.

Eight members of a German far-right group went on trial Tuesday over terrorism charges, accused of a series of attacks against refugees and political opponents.

The so-called "Freital group" -- named after the members’ hometown outside Dresden, the capital of the eastern state of Saxony -- consists of seven men, aged 19 to 39, and a 28-year-old woman.

Prosecutors say they staged five attacks with explosives between July and November 2015 targeting refugee housing and left-wing groups, causing two injuries.

Charges against them include creating a terrorist group, attempted murder and grievous bodily harm.

"They wanted to create a climate of fear and repression," federal prosecutors said last November as they prepared the case.

Expecting a long trial, authorities spent five million euros ($5.3 million) fitting out a specially constructed courtroom, including on-site prison cells, in a structure on the outskirts of the city originally built to house refugees.

With anti-migrant sentiment high across the former communist East, the hearings were being held under tight security.

Dresden in particular has been a focal point for xenophobic groups as the home of the anti-Islam street movement Pegida.

’Large quantity’ of explosives
Freital was already making headlines in the summer of 2015, as images of rage-fueled demonstrations against "criminal foreigners" and "asylum-seeking pigs" were beamed around the country.

It was the peak of the refugee crisis, with Chancellor Angela Merkel
...current chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom...
’s September 4 decision to open Germany’s borders to refugees and migrants colonists travelling via Hungary and Austria.

Prosecutors say the defendants traveled to the Czech Republic and secured "a large quantity of explosives," planning to use them against refugee housing and the "homes, offices and vehicles" of local left-wingers.

The charge sheet includes an attack on a car belonging to the leader of far-left party Die Linke in Freital on the night of July 27, 2015, in which no one was hurt.

On the night of September 19, the group allegedly flung an explosive through the kitchen window of a refugee home.

While the blast hurled glass fragments through the room, none of the residents was harmed because they were all asleep in other areas of the home.

The following night, the group allegedly threw stones and home-made devices containing foul-smelling faracid at a social housing project, harming one of the inhabitants.

10 attacks a day
The final attack came on the night of October 31, when three explosives were hurled at the windows of a refugee housing center. One person was harmed, suffering "multiple cuts" to the face.

Police placed in durance vile
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
the two suspected ringleaders of the "Freital Group," identified as Timo Schulz and Patrick Festing, at the end of 2015.

Schulz was handed a one-year suspended sentence last year for attacking a car belonging to pro-refugee demonstrators with a baseball bat.

The remainder of the group was arrested in April 2016, when Dresden prosecutors handed the terrorism case to federal Sherlocks, after being accused of dragging their feet.

The defendants face sentences of up to life imprisonment if found guilty of attempted murder, and one to 10 years in prison for being a part of a terrorist group.

Mindful of the notoriety that Freital has acquired over the attacks, the town’s Mayor Uwe Rumberg said: "One should not view the whole population and the whole city in the same light as the accused because of the incidents."

"That would not be fair to many peace-loving residents here," he told regional broadcaster MDR.

In 2016, there were about 3,500 attacks against refugees and asylum seekers in Germany -- 10 each day, on average -- harming 560 people including 43 children, interior ministry data show.

Saxony, with just five percent of the German population, was the scene of 437 attacks last year, according to the RAA, a victims’ assistance organization, after 477 in 2015.

Hungary's leaders calls migration the ‘Trojan horse’ of terrorism

“Migration is the Trojan wooden horse of terrorism,” Orban said at a swearing-in ceremony for a new group of border guards, called “border hunters” by the government. “The people that come to us don’t want to live according to our culture and customs but according to their own — at European standards of living.”

As Orban was speaking to the 462 new border guards, lawmakers from his governing Fidesz party and the far-right Jobbik party approved new rules which further limit the rights of asylum seekers and give police more power to send migrants back to Serbia.

During a state of emergency due to migration, recently extended until Sept. 7, all asylum seekers will kept at camps built from shipping containers on the border with Serbia until a final decision is made on their asylum requests. The decision is in line with Hungary’s intention to close all other refugee reception centers around the country, some of which were shut last year.

Police will also be allowed to return to the Serbian border any migrants caught anywhere in the country who cannot prove their legal right to be in Hungary. Since July 5, only migrants found within 8 kilometers (miles) of the border could be sent back to Serbia.

Pakistan an example for world to achieve tax transparency, explains Umar Cheema
[GEO.TV] Geo and Jang Group’s investigative journalist Umar Cheema recently wrote a report stating that Pakistain has set an example for other countries to follow when it comes to tax disclosure by politicians.

Umar Cheema recently wrote an article in The Guardian, describing how Pakistain caught up with its tax evasion woes.

Tax collection around the world remains a grey area, as often the policies tend to favour the affluent of the society, he wrote in the article. Some years ago, Pakistain also ranked among the countries who had a miserable record when came to tax disclosure, he further stated.

In 2011, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had made a speech in the parliament over budget saying that Pakistain ranked at the 152 spot out of 154, in tax-to-GDP ratio. Apart from this, in the year 2011, around 70%Pak had not filed income tax returns, Cheema mentioned.

Following just a few years, the country made exemplary strides regarding tax transparency, he said.

He went as far as to say that when it comes to tax submission by politicians, major personalities such as Philip Hammond and Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
can take a leaf out of Pakistain’s book.

According to the journalist: "Since 2014, the Pakistain government now lists on its website, in alphabetical order, the total annual tax paid by all companies and individuals. Norway, Sweden and Finland have been doing this for decades."

Cheema said that Pakistain has now made tax-related data public, which concerns citizens and law-makers alike.

He argued that bringing forth tax data to the public can help politicians establish a connection with public and gain their trust.

"Last week, 20 other leading investigative journalists from around the world and I met in London to discuss ways we can all follow my work in Pakistain. Afterwards, we sent letters to 7,000 politicians from 20 countries, urging them to disclose their tax records. If they do not respond they will be named and shamed," he writes in the article.

While speaking to Geo News, Cheema said that it is a great feat that Pakistain is setting an example for other countries to follow.

Recently, the journalist’s campaign on the taxes of Pak politicians gained worldwide attention.

A London-based organization launched on Tuesday the campaign as a global initiative by writing letters to 7,000 politicians in 20 countries asking them to disclose their taxes in the public interest.

The U.S. army said Saturday that 21 non-combatants were killed in nine separate strikes by the U.S.-led coalition fighting Islamic State in Iraq and Syria between November and January, bringing the total of civilians unintentionally killed by the coalition since the start of operations against the bully boy group in 2014 to 220.

Also in western Mosul, head of the Joint Operations Command in Mosul, Lt. Gen. Nijm al-Jubouri, told Bas News that Islamic State forces of Evil executed 35 civilian prisoners who were tossed into the calaboose earlier at the group’s prison facilities in Zanjili neighborhood.

China-Japan-Koreas
North Korea is holding our citizens hostage, says Malaysia’s PM Najib
[SCMP] North Korea banned Malaysians from leaving the country Tuesday, triggering a tit-for-tat response from Kuala Lumpur which said its citizens were effectively being held "hostage" in the row over the liquidation of Kim Jong-nam.

Pyongyang’s extraordinary move came as it faced growing international condemnation for a volley of missiles it fired into the Sea of Japan (East Sea), defying stringent global sanctions aimed at halting its weapons programme.

Tuesday’s developments marked a dramatic heightening of tensions with Malaysia three weeks after the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
was murdered at an airport with the banned VX nerve agent.

The North decided to "temporarily ban the exit of Malaysian citizens in the DPRK", the official news agency KCNA said, citing the foreign ministry and using the country’s official name, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

The prohibition would remain in place "until the safety of the diplomats and citizens of the DPRK in Malaysia is fully guaranteed through the fair settlement of the case that occurred in Malaysia".

The Malaysian foreign ministry said 11 of its citizens were currently in North Korea, including three embassy staff, six family members and two others who work for the UN’s World Food Programme.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak condemned the bar, and said he was ordering a similar ban on the movement of "all North Korean citizens in Malaysia". Analysts said they could number around 1,000.

"This abhorrent act, effectively holding our citizens hostage, is in total disregard of all international law and diplomatic norms," Najib said.

"As a peace-loving nation, Malaysia is committed to maintaining friendly relations with all countries.

"However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
protecting our citizens is my first priority, and we will not hesitate to take all measures necessary when they are threatened."

Pyongyang and Kuala Lumpur had unusually strong links for years, but ties have rapidly degenerated in the weeks since two women wiped a deadly chemical on Kim Jong-nam’s face.

An autopsy revealed that to be VX nerve agent, a substance so dangerous it is classed as a weapon of mass destruction by the UN.

The two women - one Indonesian and the other Vietnamese - were charged last week with the murder. Both women have denied any wrongdoing. The police are still hunting for seven North Korean men allegedly linked to the homicide, which Seoul blames on Pyongyang.

Of the seven, three men, including Hyon Kwang-song, second secretary at the North Korean embassy, have taken refuge in the embassy building in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s national police chief Khalid Abu Bakar said.

"We will wait, if it takes five years, we will wait outside. Definitely somebody will come out," Khalid said.

The North has never confirmed the dead man’s identity, but has denounced the Malaysian investigation as an attempt to smear it.

North Korean ambassador Kang Chol slammed what he called a "pre-targeted investigation by the Malaysian police" on Monday, moments before leaving the country after being expelled.

Just in from htraE: Trump Knows the Feds Are Closing In on Him
[ForeignPolicy] The president’s recent tweets aren’t just conspiratorial gibberish ‐ they’re the erratic ravings of a guilty conscience.
...
There is a good reason why Trump and his partisans are so apoplectic about the prospect of a special counsel, and it is precisely why it is imperative to appoint one: because otherwise we will never know the full story of the Kremlin’s tampering with our elections and of the Kremlin’s connections with the president of the United States. As evidenced by his desperate attempts to change the subject, Trump appears petrified of what such a probe would reveal. Wonder why?
Sheesh.

As per usual Boot is long on innuendo and short on insight. Say for the sake of argument there is a "Kremlingate" as he puts it. Notice, he never actually suggests what nefarious activities may have occurred or how they changed events? That's because the anticlimactic answer would reveal what is already known. That is a presumably foreign entity hacked into the DNC server and HRC staff email. They then leaked information proving the Democrats primary was rigged and Clinton had lied about her private server and pay-for-play as SoS. The damage was to HRC not for DJT. No amount of collusion could have changed that outcome.

#15  I think that appointing a special councel to investigate who signed the warrant to investigate Trump in August and what was its contents and what was the reason for its denial, if any of these things happened. Also it would be nice to discover the sources of the leaks to the press of an ongoing government investigation of the Trump campaign. A prosecutor as persistent as Fitzgerald in his pursuit of Libby after knowing Libby had nothing to do with the leak to Novak (a journalist was jailed for months by him) might ferret out interesting things.
Trey Gowdy would do a good job at this.
That justice department officials thought it appropriate to have government resources investigate the candidate for presidency of the out party has an unpleasant odor to it.

Europe
EU Court Says States Can Deny Visas to Refugees
[AnNahar] The EU's top court ruled Tuesday that states can deny short-term humanitarian visas to people trying to enter to claim asylum, in a case of a Syrian family trying to come to Belgium.

The decision by the Luxembourg-based European Court of Justice's decision was seen as a test case for EU countries facing a surge in refugees in the past two years, mainly from Syria's civil war.

In a surprise judgment, the court ruled against the family from the besieged city of Aleppo who had applied for the humanitarian visas at the Belgian embassy in the Lebanese capital Beirut last October.

"Yesss! We won!" Belgium's Immigration Minister Theo Francken tweeted after having argued that an unfavourable ruling would have opened the gates to uncontrolled immigration.

The court went against an earlier recommendation by its chief lawyer that the family ran the risk of inhumane treatment if they stayed in Syria.

"Member States are not required, under EU law, to grant a humanitarian visa to persons who wish to enter their territory with a view to applying for asylum," the court said.

"But they remain free to do so on the basis of their national law," it added.

The Orthodox Christian couple and their three young children had challenged the refusal of the Belgian immigration office, citing the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and the European Convention of Human Rights.

The father claimed to have been kidnapped by an armed terrorist group, then beaten and tortured, before being release on payment of a ransom.

The family claimed more broadly they risked persecution on account of their religious beliefs.

The EU court ruled that the bloc's visa code was adopted on the basis of a European treaty that allows for intended stays of no more than three months.

"The Syrian family, however, submitted applications for visas on humanitarian grounds with a view to applying for asylum in Belgium and, accordingly, for a residence permit not limited to 90 days," it added.

It warned that allowing third-country nationals to obtain entry visas to obtain international protection in the EU state of their choice "would undermine the general structure" of the bloc's asylum system.

Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel noted the victory and said "our work goes on".

Francken had warned that the case had risked obliterating European migration policy and hurting Belgium.

An unfavourable court decision would create "a dangerous precedent" that would deny Belgium control of its borders, Francken told Belgian television on Saturday.

"It could trigger a flow of tens of thousands of people toward our consulates in Beirut and Ankara," he added.

A relieved Francken tweeted Tuesday: "European Court of Justice is very clear: EU countries are not obliged to issue humanitarian visa under EU law."

will have a positive impact on security situation of the country.

Gen. Dostum made the remarks during a meeting with the brass hats of Hezb-e-Islami, including Hekmatyar’s son Habib-ur-Rehman Hekmatyar in Kabul.

He said Hekmatyar’s presence in Kabul will also help the Afghan forces to gain more morale in fight against the terrorist groups.

The delegation by Hezb-e-Islami also included Juma Khan Hamdard, Humayoun Jarir and some other key leaders of the party.

The two sides discussed the ongoing security situation of the country, specifically focusing on security situation in northern parts of Afghanistan.

Top Russian, US and Turkish officials meet to defuse tensions over Syria’s Manbij
[ARA] On Tuesday, top military officials from Russia, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, and the United States met in the town of Antalya to defuse tensions in Syria’s Manbij, which was threatened by the Turkish-led rebels.

Both the US-led coalition and the Russian Federation deployed troops in Manbij to deter aggression by Turkey against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on the ground.
Both the US-led coalition and the Russian Federation deployed troops in Manbij to deter aggression by Turkey against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on the ground.

The visit of the top military officials comes after theTurkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim on Monday suggested that the Turkey-led Euphrates Shield operation in Syria could give up on Manbij city due to Russian and US support to the Syrian Democratic Forces.

"Without coordination with the US and Russia in Manbij, there is no point in continuing operations," he said on Monday, adding that Russian and US flags are flying over Manbij at the moment.

Nawaf Xelil, a Kurdish analyst and former official of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), told ARA News that the meeting comes after Turkey failed to capture al-Bab easily, and with the US and Russian army present in Manbij.

"In my opinion, the Americans and Russians will not allow Turkey [to hit the SDF], because all Syriacs, Arabs and Kurds are united in the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)," he said.

"Turkey knows the United States will not change its plans. The SDF is now 8 kilometers from [ISIS-held] Raqqa, and they have cut the roads between Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor. The SDF are now on the Euphrates River," Xelil told ARA News.

"Turkey is in a weak position, it has bad relations with Iraq, Syria, Iran, Germany, and now also Holland is telling Turkey to not make propaganda there [for the April presidential referendum]," he said, adding that the Kurds have now built good relations due to their effective fight against ISIS terrorists.
He added that Turkey is in a "bad situation, with bad relations with its neighbours and the West."

Washington-based Middle East researcher at the Centre for a New American Security, Nicholas Heras, told ARA News that Syria is now in the stage that powerful actors are dividing the spoils of the counter-ISIS war.

"The Syrian civil war has now entered a stage where powerful state actors are discussing how to divide up the territorial spoils of the counter-ISIS war. The ’creeping incrementalism’ of the B.O. regime’s counter-ISIS strategy, which led to the creation of the SDF, will likely end with an American military mandate over areas of Syria conquered from ISIS," he said.

"Turkey wants to ensure those areas do not fall under the dominion of the Kurds, and Russia wants the land transferred back to Assad when the American campaign against ISIS is done. The U.S. is just now, under President Trump, understanding the leverage it has over the future of Syria through the tremendous gains made by the American counter-ISIS campaign," Heras concluded.

’s command has ordered big shots of a subsidiary militia in djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
to withdraw to the Syrian city of Raqqa, the base of the group’s operations in Syria.

Alsumaria News quoted sources in Mosul on Tuesday saying that big shots of "Jaish al-Khilafa" (Army of the Caliphate) received directives from the krazed killer group’s military command in Raqqa to pull out immediately from Mosul to the Syrian city which lies by the Iraqi borders.

They were ordered to evacuate and burn their headquarters as fast as possible, the source claimed.

The news comes as Iraqi government forces took over the government complex in western Mosul, a major victory that security generals say will be highly decisive in ending the battle against IS in their favor. Security forces took over eastern Mosul in January after three months of encounters, and are currently pushing to clear the western region from the krazed killer group.

Since the campaign for western Mosul began, Iraqi and U.S.-led coalition generals spoke of fast collapses in IS’s defense lines and shrinking in the close circle of aids around the group’s supreme leader, His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi

FBI investigating 300 refugees in US on terror-related suspicions
[IsraelTimes] The Federal Bureau of Investigation is probing around 300 refugees admitted into the United States for suspected terror-linked activities, US officials said Monday.

The officials gave the figure as justification for a just-announced 120-day halt on admitting refugees from any country to review security vetting procedures.

"Today, more than 300 people, according to the FBI, who came here as refugees, are under an FBI investigation today for potential terrorism-related activities," Attorney General Jeff Sessions said.

"Many people seeking to support or commit terrorist acts will enter through our refugee program," he said.

On Monday, President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
signed a new executive order halting for 90 days from March 16 new immigration from six majority-Moslem nations, in addition to the temporary refugee ban.

Speaking anonymously, an official from the Department of Homeland Security said the 300 were in addition to ongoing investigations into some 1,000 "potential domestic terrorists" inside the United States either inspired by or motivated by the Islamic State

group.

The DHS official did not give any details on where the 300 refugees came from or how many might have come from the six Moslem-majority countries targeted by the new travel ban.

"The salient fact here is that there are 300 individuals admitted and welcomed to the United States in the refugee admissions program who either infiltrated with hostile intent or who radicalized after admission to the United States," he said.

The new travel ban, a revision of the January 27 executive order which was blocked by a federal judge, kept in place a reduction of refugee admissions to 50,000 a year, cut from the 110,000 proposed for this year by the previous administration of former president Barack Obama

Iraqis capture ISIS headquarters in Mosul in surprise raid
[ARA] The Iraqi army is advancing rapidly in Western djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, controlling at least 50 to 60 per cent of Western Mosul. On Tuesday, the Joint Operations Command announced the liberation of Dandan and Dawasa, which includes an important administrative ISIS headquarters.

"Iraqi forces advancing in west Mosul and announce liberation of governance complex. This was the administrative HQ for ISIS terrorists," Brett McGurk, the US envoy for the anti-ISIS coalition said.

The governance complex was used as an administrative headquarters and a Sharia court by Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. ’s (ISIS) Death Eaters.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al Abadi met with army commanders in Mosul city after the rapid advances, to discuss the final phase of the Mosul operation and current progress.

Abadi also traveled to Erbil to met with the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) president Masoud Barzani to discuss the Mosul operation and future relations, according to Hemin Hawrami, a senior advisor to president Barzani.

Analysts expect that the operation could be finished in a month or more, although some said it could also last until the summer.

"I think we’re looking into a month, maybe more maybe less," Rasha Al Aqeedi, an Iraqi Research Fellow at Al Mesbar Studies and Research Center told ARA News.

The operation could help the Iraqi PM Abadi in the next round of Iraq’s Provincial Elections in April 2017, amidst intense political differences among the Shia majority parties.

"Abadi is certainly more popular than Maliki ever has been in Sunni areas. He’s also been smarter in managing Iraq’s foreign affairs," Al Aqeedi told ARA News.

However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
Kirk H. Sowell, a political risk analyst based in Amman, Jordan, said that the former Iraqi PM Maliki is still stronger.

Rumours spread in the Iraqi press that the former Iraqi PM Nouri al-Maliki is suffering from health issues, and could step down from politics.
"As for Abadi, it should strengthen him but frankly he’s still playing second fiddle to Maliki despite other victories," he said.

"It has taken a lot longer than Abadi claimed it would, and despite his claims the army has not performed well," Sowell told ARA News.

Meanwhile,
...back at the precinct house, Sergeant Maloney wasn't buying it. It was just too pat. The whole thing smelled phony, kind of like a dead mackeral but without the scales...
rumours spread in the Iraqi press that the former Iraqi PM Nouri al-Maliki is suffering from health issues, and could step down from politics.

#2  Surprise?

Iraqi forces launched a daring nighttime raid in the early hours of Tuesday morning on the sprawling complex of municipal buildings in western Mosul along the Tigris River. Beginning just after midnight, Iraq’s emergency response division, an elite arm of the Federal Police, led the attack. Initially advancing some half a dozen blocks past the front line in armored vehicles, but breaching the complex itself on foot.

After facing very little resistance, regular Federal Police units followed and by 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning an Iraqi flag had been hoisted above the tallest government building. But the soldiers had just pushed up the two main roads leading to the complex and hadn’t cleared the dozens of tightly packed homes on either side.

By 11:00 a.m. clashes inside the compound had intensified and commanders behind the front were getting frantic radio calls for help. Three bulldozers had broken down trying to remove roadblocks, hundreds of troops were trapped and they needed reinforcements. Snipers began to fire down on Iraqi forces from the buildings above and previously concealed suicide car bombs rammed their convoys. The city’s west is much more densely populated than the east and streets are narrow, preventing Iraqi forces from largely fighting from inside their armored vehicles.

By afternoon, Federal Police units were being sent from the Tayran base to try and free the hundreds of troops in and around the municipality buildings and the front line clinic was receiving casualties in waves.

“The plan was stupid,” Dauoud, a Federal Police solider who brought two casualties to the clinic Tuesday afternoon, said. “I don’t know why we did that.”

#3  And I surmise that, in the unlikely event of this having happened during Mr.Obama's regime, the Washington Post would not have printed the article.

Were Libs As Angry When Obama's HUD Secretary Compared Slaves To Immigrants? NOPE!
[SooperMexican] People are absolutely freaking out because Trump’s new HUD Secretary Ben Carson called slaves a kind of immigrant recently.

And I’m not joking, they’re going insane over it:

BUT as it turns out, former President Barack Obama had a HUD Secretary too!! And not only was that moron not a brain surgeon, but he literally said the exact same thing that Ben Carson said!!

Where was the liberal freak out back then?

And he said it on MSNBC, and the moron host Alex Wagner didn’t even flinch when he did it!!!

Watch!

Here’s what he said:

San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro hinted during a MSNBC interview that the status of illegal residents unable to secure citizenship in the U.S. is comparable to slavery.

"It would be unprecedented in American history for us to create a permanent class of folks who are not citizens, outside of slavery," the Democratic politician said Thursday on "NOW with Alex Wagner."

"We certainly learned our lesson from that," he added.

Castro appeared on the cable news show with his twin brother Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) via satellite from Capitol Hill. The brothers said Democrats are pushing for immigration reform that would extend legal residence or citizenship to the estimated 11 million illegal residents living in the U.S.

Now, he wasn’t HUD Secretary at the time. But if the comments are so horrific, if they’re so terrible, if they show how evil Ben Carson is, then WHY did Obama later make douchebag Julian Castro HIS HUD Secretary later?

Why? Because liberals are hypocrites, that’s why.

Oh and just to get some icing on this crap-cake, Obama said it too:

So HUD Secretary Ben Carson is a moron for saying the same thing that Barack Obama and his own HUD Secretary said. Isn’t that convenient.

Now look, this isn’t a defense of Ben Carson ‐ I have no idea if he’s going to be a good HUD guy or not. But it shows the absurd hypocrisy of the media and liberals.
Gotta' visit the site to see the Tweets, etc. Sorry...

#6  JFK used the term as well. The term applying to slaves is old and well-worn and useful as a way of comparison. Only the faux anger is new because this time a Republican made the comparison.

Having said that double-standards are so common Carson should have known this was coming.

Syrian Army Liberates Aleppo Water-pumping Station from ISIL Terrorists
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Syrian government forces have retaken from the ISIS terrorist group a pumping station that supplies water to second city Aleppo, a monitoring group said Tuesday.

"Regime forces took over the area of al-Khafsa and seized the water-pumping station after the withdrawal of the ISIS ’jihadists’," said Rami Abdel Rahman of the UK-based Syrian opposing Observatory.

India-Pakistan
Pakistan has right to target terrorists across Afghan border, says Asif
[GEO.TV] Pakistan has right to take action against terrorists based across its border with Afghanistan, its defence minister said Tuesday, adding they would not remain quiet on martyrdom of their troops.
That would imply that Afghanistan, Iran, India, and China have the right to chase terrorists back into Pakistain. Sounds good.
The statement comes a day after five Pakistani troops embraced martyrdom in an attack by terrorists, based across the border, on a Pakistani ckeckpost in Mohmand Agency.

The soldiers embraced martyrdom while foiling a terrorism bid on three border checkpoints in Mohmand Agency on Sunday night, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). The shootout between army personnel and terrorists also left at least 15 militants dead.

"Terrorists must be denied freedom of movement along the border," Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa was quoted as saying in a statement. He lauded the immediate response of the personnel, however, expressed grief over the loss of precious lives.

"Kabul has admitted that it does not have control over areas from where terrorist attacks are launched and, after this admission, Pakistan has the right to act against those terrorists," Asif said, speaking exclusively to Geo News.

Pakistan has recently conducted strikes across the Afghan border and it will pound terrorists in future as well, he said, adding, "We will not stay quiet if our soldiers are martyred".

"It is our duty to respond to these cross-border attacks and we will respond befittingly," the minister said.

He said that at present there has been a nexus between New Delhi and Afghanistan and Kabul has been acting as Indian puppet.

"Our desire for cordial ties with Afghanistan aside, but responding to cross-border attacks from the Afghan soil is our duty," Asif said.

Terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan
Of late, Pakistan has voiced concerns over terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan, from where majority of last month's attacks were believed to be coordinated.

In February, Pakistani diplomatic officials summoned the Afghan deputy head of mission to the Foreign Office to convey their concerns over continuing attacks by terrorist outfit Jamaat-ul-Ahrar from its sanctuaries inside Afghanistan.

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa also held a telephonic conversation with US General John Nicholson, Commander of Resolute Support Mission (RSM) in Afghanistan on February 17, conveying his concerns over continued acts of terrorism in Pakistan from Afghanistan, the ISPR said in a statement.

"Most of the incidents in Pakistan are claimed by terrorist organisations with leadership hiding in Afghanistan," Gen Bajwa told US General John Nicholson.

"The COAS said that such terrorist activities and inaction against them are testing our current policy of cross-border restraint," the ISPR said in a statement.

Commenting on Asif Ali Zardari's statement on Rangers powers in provinces, he said he paramilitary force has been given same powers everywhere it has been called in to aid law enforcement agencies.

The former president could better know of what he said about Rangers powers, he added.

Defense voulnteer gunned down in southern Thailand
[Bangkok Post] A village defense volunteer was killed by gunmen who entered his grocery store in Yala province on Monday night. Eyewitnesses said he was murdered about 8 p.m. in Raman district.

Turaki Madimong, 47, a defense volunteer, was killed by two young men who arrived on a motorcycle, walked into the shop and ordered a bag of ice. While Turaki was scooping ice into a bag for them, the two each pulled out a pistol and shot him at point-blank range. Turaki was hit four times, in the head and body, dying at the scene.

India-Pakistan
Banking on military justice
[DAWN] IN 2015, when parliament passed the 21st Amendment that allowed constitutionally protected military courts to try terrorism suspects, many reluctant politicians offered their mea culpas. Indeed, how can one forget the spectacle of a weeping Senator Raza Rabbani after he cast his vote? He said he had voted against his conscience. Ironically, two years later, the politicians are once again deliberating the revival of these military courts.

It is yet another testimony of the lack of faith in the country’s criminal justice system and the sheer ineptness of our rulers to reform it. Two years was a long enough period for restructuring the anti-terrorism courts so that they could adequately deal with terrorism cases and deliver quick justice as envisioned in the National Action Plan. Instead, our civilian rulers have once again chosen to outsource the responsibility to the military.

But can military justice salvage the situation? It certainly cannot. The extension in the term of the military courts is likely to further delay the much-needed criminal justice system reforms, particularly the plan to upgrade the anti-terrorism courts. In fact, the very term ’military court’ is a misnomer; it is basically military field court martial whose jurisdiction has been extended to civilians. The opaqueness of the process has already raised questions about the fairness of the trials.

While the 21st Amendment provided constitutional cover to speedy trials under the Pakistain Army Act, it also carried a sunset clause of two years. What brought the political parties to a consensus on the controversial legislation despite some serious reservations was the Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
school massacre that necessitated tougher action against the terrorists.

It was supposed to be a stopgap arrangement, as the existing anti-terrorism courts were not fully geared to deal with cases involving Death Eater combatants captured during military operations in the tribal areas or those participating in terrorist activities on the mainland. Their number was said to be in the thousands and many of them had been in the custody of the security forces for years without being produced before any court of law.

A flawed system of investigation and lack of evidence that is difficult to obtain in cases of terrorism allowed many hardened turbans to get away without conviction. The threat to the security of the judges and Sherlocks and their families was also the reason for the extremely low conviction rate in militancy-related cases. All these factors helped win the case for the establishment of military courts.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syria Forces Quietly Take up Buffer between Kurds, Turks
[AnNahar] US-backed Syrian fighters have turned over several villages in the country's north to government forces under a deal to avoid conflict with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, a front man told AFP on Tuesday.

The Manbij Military Council, part of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, announced the planned handover last week.

"Some villages and points on the western side of the town of al-Areima have been handed over to the border guards of the Syrian regime," Manbij Military Council front man Sherfan Darwish told AFP.

He said the handover was carried out "with the goal of curbing Turkey's expansion and its occupation of Syrian territory, and to... prevent the shedding of civilian blood."

He declined to give further details but the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britannia-based monitor of the war, said the handover had happened on Monday and involved fewer than 10 villages.

Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman described the handover as "for show."

"Members of the Manbij Military Council simply put on army clothes and raised the Syrian flag to avoid friction with the Turks," he told AFP.

There was no mention in Syrian state media of the handover to government forces.

The Manbij Military Council, part of the Kurdish-Arab SDF, first announced the handover last week, marking the first time that US-supported fighters had proposed ceding territory to regime forces.

The Council said the deal had been agreed with Russia to "protect the line dividing the Manbij Military Council and the areas under the control of the Turkish army and Euphrates Shield."

Euphrates Shield is the name of the operation Turkey launched inside Syria last August targeting the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group and the SDF, which is dominated by Kurdish fighters that Ankara sees as "terrorists".

The handover plan was announced after Euphrates Shield forces attacked several villages under SDF control east of the town of al-Bab last week.

Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
said last week that the operation's next target would be Manbij -- a former IS bastion that is now under SDF control.

But on Monday, Ankara stepped back from that threat, saying it would not act without cooperation from Russia and the United States.

The profusion of forces operating in Syria has led to a deeply complex battlefield and tensions between different parties.

Washington said on Monday it had sent additional troops into Manbij to deter rival powers from targeting each other rather than IS.

"This is obviously a really complicated situation," said Pentagon front man Navy Captain Jeff Davis.

"We have made visible actions in deploying US forces as part of the coalition in and around Manbij to reassure and deter -- that's to deter parties from attacking any other parties other than ISIS itself," he said, using another acronym for IS.

More than 310,000 people have been killed in Syria since the war began with anti-government protests in March 2011.

Brussels to host conference on Syria’s future
[ARA] The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
, Germany, Kuwait, Norway, Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
, the United Kingdom and the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
will co-chair the Brussels Conference on ’Supporting the future of Syria and the region’, on 5 April 2017.
To be held in Molenbeek?
The conference will bring ministerial representatives from 70 delegations, including from the EU and the region but also the wider international community, the United Nations, major donors and civil society, humanitarian and development organizations.

According to officials, the conference will address the situation in Syria and the impact of the crisis on the region.

The Brussels meeting will assess where the international community stands collectively in fulfilling commitments made at the London Conference in February 2016 and agree on additional efforts needed to meet the needs of those affected by the Syrian crisis.

The last London conference raised over $11 billion for Syrian humanitarian needs over the next four years.

The upcoming Brussels conference will reconfirm existing pledges and identify additional support to Syrians in need inside Syria and in neighbouring countries, as well as to the respective host communities, in response to the UN-coordinated appeals.

Discussions will also focus on how the international community can support a lasting political resolution to the Syrian conflict through an inclusive Syrian-led political transition.

The conference will reconfirm the international community’s commitment to continuing to deliver assistance to Syrians in need, as well as their host communities, and assess the conditions under which post-agreement assistance could be provided once a credible political transition is underway.

On 4 April, thematic sessions will be organised by the EU with UN agencies and other international organizations, NGOs and civil society, focusing on various aspects of international support provided in response to the crisis in Syria and the region.

Afghanistan
Detained militants claim Taliban and ISI assigned them to kill MP in Kabul
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan cops have thwarted a plot by the anti-government armed holy warrior groups to assassinate a politician of the Lower House of the Parliament, Wolesi Jirga.

The Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security
...the Afghan national intel agency...
(NDS), said two Lions of Islam appointed for the attack were tossed in the clink
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
by the intelligence operatives before they manage to carry out the attack.

A statement by NDS said the two Lions of Islam have been identified as Abdul Wahid son of Syed Hussain and Salahuddin son of Syed Ali.

The two bandidos Lions of Islam have confessed that they were appointed for the attack by a Taliban group leader and an operative of the Pak military intelligence, Inter Services Intelligence.

The statement further added that the men have also confessed that they were paid to carry out an attack on a politician of the Wolesi Jirga against money.

No further details were given regarding the member of the parliament on whom the bandidos Lions of Islam were supposed to carry out the attack.

NDS said the Taliban Lions of Islam as usual have received instructions from the outsiders to assassinate the political and influential leaders.

However,
a lie repeated often enough remains a lie...
NDS said in majority of such cases the suspects are arrested before they manage to execute their plans.
