Israel-Palestine-Jordan
The Netanyahu-Putin entente
[Jpost] Because of the approaching elections, most Israeli newspapers these days resemble election pamphlets, not always in the best of taste, more than they do channels of information ‐ with the result that they barely covered, for instance, this month’s important meeting in Moscow between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Vladimir Putin. As reported, the main topic on the agenda was Iran’s extensive activity in Syria. Given that Russia’s establishing itself in the region has become what looks like a permanent or at least long-term reality (where the czars and the Soviets failed, Putin succeeded), while America’s presence, like the face of the Cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland, is gradually disappearing ‐ Moscow is now a central player in any scenario in this respect.

...Diplomatic history is sure to mark Netanyahu’s act of balancing Israel’s fundamental relations with America ‐ with its pragmatic coordination with Russia on Syria, without the latter being perceived by Washington as negatively affecting its global interests ‐ as major diplomatic achievements. And Israel is acting wisely in operating with full transparency toward the US in this and other respects, keeping in mind that the US is Israel’s long-term strategic and value-based ally, while Russia is an important and practical partner in dealing with certain particular issues.
If it weren't for the coup attempt, I'm sure Trump's administration would be moving in similar ways: it's ridiculous for the relations between Russia & USA - who need each other as allies against China, to be influenced by EU/USA deep state psychopaths.

John Brennan: From spittle to flop sweat
[Powerline] Among the high former Obama administration officials who have most disgraced themselves by their public comments since leaving office, John Brennan deserves special recognition. Marc Thiessen has done us the favor of making the case in the Washington Post column “The Trump-Russia collusion hall of shame” (accessible via the link at Jewish World Review). Thiessen renders this damning judgment:

#5  The solution to that is easy, when a CIA head retires, he'll be whisked away to a secure holding area in Yucca Mountain Nuclear repository. There he'll be given 10 boxes of National Geographics selected randomly from someone's basement, 10 years of life boat rations and access to water. He'll be perfectly safe, able to relax and read amongst the radioactive containers.

Germany's Ambassador to U.N. compares Israel to Hamas
The German Bild paper published on Wednesday a scathing editorial accusing the country’s UN Ambassador Christoph Heusgen of betraying Chancellor Angela Merkel’s security pledge to Israel by comparing the Jewish state to the terrorist organization Hamas

The editorial authored by Filipp Piatov, in the country’s top-selling paper, took Heusgen to task for comparing Israel’s security measures against Palestinian terrorists with Hamas rocket attacks.

In response to Heusgen’s statement that "Civilians must live without fear of Palestinian rockets or Israeli bulldozers," the Bild journalist wrote: "After 130 missiles in a week, pure malice. Murderous rockets are not bulldozers, the Israeli government is not a terrorist militia."

U.S. Ambassador and sanctions cause drop in German-Iran trade
[JPost] An assertive anti-Iranian regime policy by the US Ambassador to Germany and American sanctions targeting the Islamic Republic of Iran's economy caused a 9% decrease in German exports to Iran in 2018.
Plus, Iran's own currency is losing value - fast
According to Ulrich Nußbaum, a State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, German exports plummeted from 3.15 billion Euro in 2017 to 2.7 billion Euro in 2018.

The German weekly Die Zeit first reported on the drop in German exports to Iran. The governments of Germany, France and the United Kingdom created a financial mechanism called Instex to circumvent US sanctions against Iran. Nußbaum said Instex is "at this time in the phase of being operationalized."

Major German banks such as Commerzbank and Deutsche Bank have declined to conduct business with Iran because of exposure to US sanctions. As a result, according to an early March article in the Hamburger Abendblatt, for companies in the German state of Lower Saxony this presents a "big challenge." The paper wrote "since November virtually no transfers of funds from Iran to the house banks of the Lower Saxony companies have taken place."

Jussie Smollett Receives Prestigious NAACP Award For His Work Creating Jobs For Nigerian-Americans
[Babylon Bee] CHICAGO, IL‐The NAACP has given Jussie Smollett a prestigious award for his important work creating much-needed jobs for Nigerian-American citizens.

The Association created the new "Nigerian-American Job Creation" award just for Smollett in honor of his important work for the black community.

"While a lot of people talk about job creation, Smollett put his money where his mouth is," said an NAACP spokesperson as Smollett received the award. "He created two good, high-paying jobs well above minimum wage for these brothers. $3500 to pretend to be Trump supporters and fake an attack on a celebrity? Easy money."

"If all the wealthy and powerful were to help out like this, we can eliminated joblessness among black adults," he added.

Smollett humbly accepted the award, saying he was just "doing his part" to bring racial unity to the country.

How Could The Intelligence Community Fail So Badly? - Blames Bad Info
[Daily Caller] Far more than a failure of journalism, the Russia collusion narrative was, at its core, a monstrous failure of U.S. intelligence and counterintelligence.
A monstrous failed disinformaton campaign, to be accurate.
All criticism of the news media aside for the moment, the bottom line is that professional journalists received fake intelligence information from U.S. government leakers whom they trusted.

The entire Russian collusion debacle shows that the American intelligence and counterintelligence processes have been subverted broken down.

Emphatic former CIA director John Brennan, a main engine behind spreading the Russia collusion story through the intelligence community and into the media, suddenly doesn’t sound so certain about himself. The day after Attorney General William Barr released the special prosecutor’s finding of no collusion, Brennan confessed to MSNBC, "I don’t know if I received bad information but I think I suspected that there was more than there actually was."

This is a shocking admission from the man who was, at the time, the nation’s highest-ranking professional intelligence officer.

*The Yom Kippur War
*The fall of the Shah
*The collapse of the Soviet Union

I know the old saying that you never hear about the successes, just the failures - but I'll tell ya what; for me to have ANY more faith in the Community, I'm going to have to hear about some of those 'successes'.

If there are any.

‘Unplanned' Shows That Witnessing An Ultrasound Can Change Everything
[The Federalist] "Unplanned" is the true story of Abby Johnson, formerly one of America’s youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors. A vocal pro-choice advocate, she oversaw the abortion of around 22,000 babies in her time with the organization and was a rising star until she witnessed an ultrasound-guided abortion and everything changed.

"Unplanned" opens in theaters on March 29 and follows Johnson from her time in college, where she has two abortions and meets her first husband, through her time at Planned Parenthood, to her court fight with the abortion giant after her resignation. The film is based on her best-selling book and is distributed by the same company that released "God’s Not Dead" and "The Case for Christ."

RATINGS, THE MPAA, AND VIEWER DISCRETION
"Unplanned" received an R rating, causing quite a stir online. The distributor handling the movie is best known for movies that the whole family can see, so when a rating was released that will cut out large parts of families people were quick to worry that politics, not prudence, motivated it. Media bias against pro-life activists isn’t anything new, so it’s entirely fair for people to be concerned that "Unplanned" would be targeted.

Another pro-life movie was released last year and received a PG-13 rating from the MPAA. This movie was "Gosnell: the Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer." Subject to an incredible amount of media blackouts and censorship, it focused on the life and ill-deeds of an abortionist from Philadelphia. Having the two very different films to contrast, side by side, presents a very compelling picture of the abortion industry and the dangers women face in clinics.

Stop the Politically Correct Renaming of Airports!
[American Thinker] Leftists in southern California have their knickers in a knot after a recent Los Angeles Times opinion piece resurfaced of John Wayne’s Playboy interview of 1971. Most people only read the Times article about the interview, but I read the original, comprehensive interview. While Wayne had a dirty mouth, he was not the dumb cowboy depicted by his critics. He had many very thoughtful comments on America, but three or four comments got him in trouble -- 50 years later.

They were so bad, progressives want his name removed from the John Wayne Airport, the commercial airport serving Orange County, California. However, other progressives are tolerant of a black who said equally objectionable things who is to have an airport named for him.

Wayne stated, "I don't want somebody like Angela Davis inculcating an enemy doctrine in my kids' minds." The interviewer then declared that Davis claimed the reason that people wanted to revoke her teaching credentials was because she is black. I don’t suppose it could be her involvement with the Black Power Movement, her Communist Party membership, support for Fidel Castro, her support for the "Palestinians" and antagonism toward Israel, and her part in an aborted prison escape where four men were killed.

She was on the FBI Most Wanted List and spent 18 months in prison awaiting trial for her part in the attempted prison escape. She was tried and acquitted of all charges.

So was O. J. Simpson.

Trump campaign starts selling 'Pencil-neck Adam Schiff' t-shirts
President Trump's 2020 presidential campaign is now selling "Pencil-Neck Adam Schiff" T-shirts, after Trump coined the new nickname at a rally in Michigan on Thursday.

The shirt, which is on sale for $28, shows Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) with a pencil for a neck as well as a clown nose.

"Little Pencil-Neck Adam Schiff. He spent two years knowingly and unlawfully lying and leaking. He should be forced to resign from Congress! Everyone should buy a Pencil-Neck Adam Schiff shirt today!" the item's online description reads.

The merchandise appears to have been posted the day after Trump's comments targeting the House Intelligence chairman at a campaign rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

"Little pencil neck Adam Schiff," Trump said. "He’s got the smallest, thinnest neck I’ve ever seen. He is not a long ball hitter."

Trump and other Republicans have been highly critical of Schiff in recent days after a summary of special counsel Robert Mueller's report found no coordination between Trump and Russia ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

Earlier this week, Schiff said he still believes evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia "undoubtedly" exists and can be found by his committee.

Pres. Trump signs permit to jump-start delayed construction of Keystone XL pipeline
[The Hill] President Trump on Friday signed a presidential permit to jump-start construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline with a facility in Montana, a move seen as a way to circumvent previous court orders halting development.

The permit authorizes energy company TransCanada Corp. to "construct, connect, operate, and maintain" pipeline facilities between the U.S. and Canada.

The permit also allows for the maintenance of a pipeline facility at Phillips County, Montana, for importation of the oil to the U.S.

The order supersedes a March 2017 order. That permit was invalidated by a Montana federal judge in November. The ruling is being appealed in the 9th Circuit. Separately, a December lawsuit placed an injunction on most pre-construction activities.

"For the avoidance of doubt, I hereby revoke that March 23, 2017, permit," Trump wrote in Friday's order.

Dem Congressional Offices Remove POW Flags, Replace With Transgender Pride Flags
[Free Beacon] Multiple Democratic offices on Capitol Hill have replaced their flags memorializing prisoners of war with transgender pride flags, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.

The changes came at the urging of the National Center for Transgender Equality, which is delivering flags to congressional offices in advance of International Transgender Day of Visibility. Among the members to make the switch was Rep. Kim Schrier (D., Wash.), who replaced the POW flag she had displayed outside her office with a transgender pride flag.

Schrier's office told the Washington Free Beacon that the POWMIA flag has not been removed permanently.

"We were asked to fly the Transgender Equality flag by the National Center for Transgender Equality this week ahead of Transgender Visibility Day on Sunday," a spokesperson for the office said. "Our POWMIA flag has been in the Congresswoman's office this week. And will be back outside our office tomorrow."

Staffers from the office of Rep. Pete Aguilar (D., Calif.) were spotted attempting to pull their office's POW flag out of its stand on Wednesday. A source told the Washington Free Beacon that Aguilar's office initially tried to remove the POW flag, was unsuccessful, then managed to remove it soon after.

The picture below shows the pink, white, and blue transgender flag on the right side of the door of Aguilar's office.

John Bolton: Trump ‘Eager for the Will of the British People to Be Carried Out'
[Breitbart] President Trump’s National Security Advisor John Bolton has offered some words of assurances to the British people on the day the UK was supposed to leave the European Union, saying the United States is eager to do a bilateral trade deal and the UK remains at "top of the queue."

"People who worry about the UK ’crashing out’ of the European Union ‐ that’s the phrase they use ‐ they’re going to ’crash’ right into the United States," Mr Bolton told Sky News’s Cordelia Lynch from the White House on Friday.

"We’re standing here waiting to make a trade deal with a United Kingdom independent of the European Union," Mr Bolton continued, in an optimistic note.

"I don’t want to get into the specifics of what’s been going on in the House of Commons, but I can say unequivocally President Trump is eager for the will of the British people to be carried out and he is even more eager to do a trade deal," he said.

Nine Banks Win Dismissal Of Iran Terrorism Financing Lawsuit
[Jpost] A US judge has dismissed a lawsuit seeking to hold nine large European banks liable for allegedly providing banking services to Iran that enabled holy warriors to conduct 55 attacks against US armed forces in neighboring Iraq.

In a decision on Thursday, US District Judge Laura Taylor Swain in Manhattan said the banks' alleged misconduct was too far removed from the attacks, which occurred from 2003 to 2011, to support civil liability under federal anti-terrorism laws.

The US Department of State has designated Iran a state sponsor of terrorism since 1984.

Europe
German terror cell allegedly attempted failed attacks
Oh? Fascinating.
[DW] Austrian authorities say an alleged Iraqi terror "cell" planned and carried out attacks on German train lines. Investigators now believe there may have been more than two attempts to derail trains.

An Iraqi man accused of attempting to derail high-speed trains in Germany
...that would be the carefully unnamed father of five who was granted asylum in Germany Austria twenty years ago, after he had received military training under his beloved Saddam Hussein. He’d been working in Germany for a security company guarding soccer stadiums and supermarkets, and was caught when they traced the printer of the pro-ISIS notes he left at the derailment sites...
may have carried out more attacks than previously thought, Sherlocks said Friday.

The investigation into the alleged terror attacks is widening after the 42-year-old Iraqi and his wife
...who also, one notes, does not have a name...
were jugged
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
in the Austrian capital Vienna on Monday, followed by two more Iraqis arrested in the Czech Republic on Thursday.
...who are also nameless, though The Local reports one is a man of 30 and the other is a woman of 27...
The main suspect in jug in Vienna is accused of placing steel wires across the tracks of the high-speed rail lines between Nuremberg and Munich in October and in Berlin in December. Nobody was injured in the attempts to derail the trains.

ADDITIONAL INCIDENTS UNDER INVESTIGATION
In a new development on Friday, authorities in the southern German state of Bavaria said they were now investigating two additional attempts to derail trains on the Nuremberg-Munich line around Allersberg using wood and steel wedges placed the tracks, dpa news agency reported.

"We assume that there were three incidents at different times at the same site," a spokesperson from the Bavarian state criminal office told dpa, referring to Allersberg.

The spokesperson said the attempts to derail the trains failed due to the faulty construction design of the wedges placed on the tracks.
Really, it’s quite mortifying to be told that no one noticed one’s terrifying terror attacks.
In a separate development, Der Spiegel magazine reported that Austrian authorities discovered night vision goggles and a drone at the Vienna residence of Iraqi man.

SUSPECTED TERROR CELL
The man detained in Vienna has admitted to carrying out the attacks, but has denied any terrorist motive. His wife has denied involvement.

Austrian authorities say an "Islamic State

They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
" flag and Arabic writings found near the scene of the attacks indicate a suspected terrorist motive.

Austrian Interior Minister Herbert Kickl said Thursday that the two suspects detained in Prague "formed a cell" with the man detained in Vienna. A Czech court has ordered the terror suspects to be extradited to Austria.

He's a 'recognized refugee' in Austria, not in Germany. According to some initial reports he came to Austria 20 years ago. Newer reports indicate that he's lived in Austria only since 2012.

I wonder if he and his accomplices actually have acquired dozens of fake identities during Merkel's refugee flooding. They've had the opportunity in any case.

APG dissatisfied over Pakistan’s compliance with commitments
[DAWN] Expressing dissatisfaction over Pakistain’s inadequate compliance with global commitments, the Asia-Pacific Group (APG) ‐ a regional affiliate of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) ‐ has flashed contradictory situations and poor coordination among stakeholders fighting money laundering and terror financing as top takeaways of three-day mutual evaluation.

No official word was available from the APG or the government on the conclusion of the on-site mutual evaluation, but in background discussions officials involved in the process mostly shared pessimism.

Informed sources said the visiting delegation highlighted many contradictory positions. For example, the Pak side was confronted with the statement that mosques and religious institutions were not involved in terrorism, but data showed most of the punishments and fines imposed on those collecting donations and delivering speeches around mosques and related systems.

Yet, there was no indication, based on official account, that any of those punished had any link with Al Qaeda or organizations accused by India of cross-border terrorism or other proscribed organizations (POs). As such, it did not impress the APG inspectors as to what was the point for actions against such people.

Indian missile mistakenly hit its own chopper during confrontation with Pakistan
“Whoops! Stop that, Ravi, it tickles!”
[ALMASDARNEWS] India’s air defence missile of Israeli-origin may have shot down its own Mi-17 V5 military chopper, following an alert on 27 February about 25 Pak fighter jets hovering over the border area that separates the two countries, reports the Indian daily The Economic Times.

The incident had occurred a day after the Indian Air Force (IAF) avenged the 14 February Pulwama Death Eater attack by a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) Death Eater along the Jammu ‐Kashmire Highway on a CRPF troop convoy in which over 40 personnel were killed and many others left maimed.

The Mi-17 V5 helicopter lifted off from Srinagar airfield at 10:00 a.m. local time for a routine mission. The helicopter crashed around 10:10 a.m. near Jammu and Kashmire’s Budgam district. All six Indian Air force (IAF) personnel on board were killed in the crash, a leading Indian daily reported on Friday citing the initial report.

The investigation’s focus is to determine "if multiple layers of safeguards meant to protect assets from friendly fire failed and how systems need to be improved to prevent any such incident in future", it reported.

The Indian authorities maintain that the IAF strike was carried out against suspected terror infrastructure operated by JeM, the Pakistain-based terrorist organization that grabbed credit for the Pulwama attack.

A day after the Indian side launched the air strike in Balakot (in Pakistain), the two nuclear-armed nations engaged in an air clash, a first in five decades. According to reports, at least 25 fighter jets from the Pakistain Air Force tried to breach the border for a strike on military targets.

A slow moving target like the Mi-17 V5 helicopter could be mistaken for a low flying armed UAV homing into an air base, said the media report citing sources.

Wiretaps: Turkey Aided Passage of Militant ISIS Terrorists Into Syria
[Free Beacon] A cache of wiretaps originating in Turkey appear to show the government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan aiding the passage of militant fighters tied to the ISIS terror group into and out of Syria, according to new reports that are raising questions about Turkey's commitment to its military alliance with Washington, D.C.

The wiretaps are said to show Erdogan's government working alongside ISIS fighters, despite its public rhetoric in support of the American campaign to decimate the Islamic terror group.

Turkey's alliance with the United States has been stressed for some time, as Erdogan continues his anti-Israel rhetoric and a series of policies that have strained relations between the Trump administration and Ankara.

The wiretaps shine light on what experts have described as Turkey's private efforts to aid ISIS and create further havoc in war-torn Syria.

"A review of hundreds of secret wiretap records obtained from confidential sources in the Turkish capital of Ankara reveals how the Islamist government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has enabled‐and even facilitated‐the movement of foreign and Turkish militants across the Turkish border into Syria to fight alongside jihadists in the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant," according to a report published by the Investigative Journal, a long form reporting portal.

Million protesters march against Algeria’s Bouteflika
[PRESSTV] About one million people erupted into the streets of Algiers on Friday to demand the resignation of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika
... 10th president-for-life of Algeria. He was elected in 1999 and is currently on his third or fourth term. Maybe it's the fifth....
, coppers at the scene said, in the biggest demonstration since unrest erupted six weeks ago.

In at least one location, police opened fire with tear gas and rubber bullets, chasing and beating demonstrators, after youths hurled stones at them, a Rooters journalist said.

The huge turnout came days after the military called for the long-serving leader's removal to end a growing political crisis.

State TV showed protests in several other cities as well.

The protests have been largely peaceful but have put pressure on the army to stabilize the country.

While many people are against Bouteflika and his shrinking inner circle, they also reject the army's intervention in civilian political life.

"Street pressure will continue until the system goes," said student Mohammed Djemai, 25, as hundreds of riot police kept an eye on the protests and helicopters flew overhead.

"We have only one word to say today, all the gang must go immediately, game over," said Ali, a merchant, as other protesters shouted "the people want the fall of the regime".

Families stood on balconies above the streets cheering the marchers -- Algerians of all social classes, including journalists, doctors, teachers and homeless people.

The crowds shared out dates and water and bought ice cream from street vendors.

Man suspected of sexually assaulting, murdering 7-year-old boy arrested in Haripur
[DAWN] A man suspected of sexually assaulting and murdering a seven-year-old child in Khanpur, Haripur tehsil, was nabbed
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
by police on Friday.

According to Haripur police spokesperson Hassan Attaur Rehman, the victim was a resident of Marchabad area of Khanpur and was a student of the first grade. His body was found earlier this morning from a pile of trash in a nearby village Jhogya by locals, who then informed the police. The victim's body was sent to Khanpur Hospital for his appointment with Doctor Quincy, which confirmed that the child had been sexually abused and later strangled to death with a piece of cloth.

A first information report of the incident has been registered. The district police officer of Haripur will reveal more details in a presser that will be held later today, Rehman added.

Child sexual abuse is highly prevalent both in the developing and the developed world. Last year, a report released by non-governmental organization Sahil had said that around nine children in Pakistain face sexual abuse daily, even though there is a scarcity of credible data.

In order to curb violence against children in the country, the Senate in 2016 criminalised child sexual abuse, child pornography and trafficking. Earlier, only rape was criminalised. Despite the tightening of laws, a significant number of child abuse cases go unreported.

A Senate committee was informed in January this year that 300 cases of child sexual abuse were registered in Islamabad over the last five years, while another 260 cases went unregistered.

[DAWN] Three brothers, placed in durance vile
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
for allegedly raping their sister, were taken to Adiala jail on Thursday.

A senior police officer told Dawn one of the suspects is a religious scholar who also delivered sermons online. He is alleged to have raped the victim at a religious seminary on Friday. The other two suspects are labourers.

The officer said the victim is 15 years old, while the suspects are between the ages of 22 and 30. He said the suspects threatened the victim and told her to keep quiet in the name of the holy book.

Police say doctors and local elders confirmed the suspects had confessed

The officer said the family consists of five brothers and four sisters who are from Bannu and have been living in Golra for a couple of years. The victim, younger among the siblings, had been living with her brothers after her parents died.

Golra SHO Inspector Arshad Ali said the suspects were produced in court on Thursday and sent to Adiala on a judicial remand.

A civil court also ordered for the victim to be shifted to a protection centre until further orders, he said.

The SHO said the police were approached by a friend of the victim’s late father, a doctor.

The police then visited his clinic and took a statement from the victim.

Inspector Ali said doctors and local elders present at the clinic also told the police they had confronted the suspects with the victim’s allegation and they had confessed. A case was registered against the suspects and they were arrested soon after, he said.

The SHO said the suspects had also confessed during the three-day physical remand, and confirmed that they were sent to Adiala jail on Thursday after being produced in court.

According to the FIR, the victim was living with her brothers after their parents died. She was first raped by one of the suspects two years ago, who continued to assault her for two weeks afterwards.

She was then sexually assaulted three times by another suspect weeks later, and then by a third at a religious seminary.

The FIR said that at her request she was taken to a religious seminary, and when she returned to Golra she stayed at a shrine for four days and fell ill.

She visited her father’s friend for treatment, where she was asked about her disappearance, and told him about her ordeal.

She said her after she returned home, her husband ‐ who is a member of the Malakand Levies force ‐ first accosted her over not covering her head and then started beating her with punches and kicks.

"There was no one else in the room except my three-year-old child and so he continued beating me," the police official quoted the woman as saying. She claimed her husband later grabbed a pair of scissors and chopped off all of her hair.

She said she was filing a complaint of the incident with a delay because her husband had threatened to kill her if she spoke about it with anyone, and it was only now that she found the chance to approach police.

Peoria police sergeant shoots man in the face during traffic stop
"Go ahead, skin that smoke wagon and see what happens."
[azcentraol] A Peoria police officer shot a man in the face when he reached for a gun in his lap during a traffic stop Wednesday night.

A sergeant pulled a car over near 83rd Avenue and West Cholla Street at 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday night for a suspected traffic violation, according to a Facebook post by the Peoria Police Department.

When the sergeant got to the car, the 23-year-old male driver reached for a gun in his lap, and the sergeant fired "at least one round at the subject," which struck the man in the face, the post stated.

The man was taken to a hospital and treated for his injuries, the post said. His identity will be released as soon as he is out of the hospital and booked into jail, the department said.

No one else was injured in the shooting.

Peoria Police Department said the sergeant was wearing a body camera, and it was activated, the post stated.

The North cantonment police made the arrest on the complaint of the victim in a raid on a house in Askari 10 area. Video clips of the tortured woman, Hajra Bibi, showed her face bleeding massively.

In an earlier incident, a man had been arrested for shaving off head of his wife in Defence area a couple of days back.

Hajra Bibi in her complaint alleged that her husband Umair Noorani and his brother Haris tied her hands and lashed her with rubber belts and rods.

She said the suspects beat her up inhumanly, damaging her nose tissues and causing massive bleeding. She said that as a result of brutal torture, she also suffered multiple wounds on her back and fainted because of unbearable pain.

Top UAE minister urges strategic shift in Arab-Israel ties; boycott was mistake
We’ll see more of this sort of thing when President Trump is reelected, especially because Israeli polls are apparently now predicting that Bibi Netanyahu will come out of the election in two weeks with a few more Knesset seats than he went in with.
[IsraelTimes] The Arab world’s boycott of Israel decades ago was a ’very, very wrong decision,’ Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash says.

A senior United Arab Emirates minister on Wednesday called for a "strategic shift" in Israel-Arab ties, saying that Arab world’s decades-old decision to boycott the Jewish state had been a mistake.

"Many, many years ago, when there was an Arab decision not to have contact with Israel, that was a very, very wrong decision, looking back," UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash told the UAE-based newspaper The National in an interview. "Because clearly, you have to really dissect and divide between having a political issue and keeping your lines of communication open."

The Times of Israel adds:
A Muslim community leader in New Zealand dismissed claims by the head of the country’s biggest mosque that Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency was behind the killing of 50 Muslims at two Christchurch mosques.

Mustafa Farouk, president of the Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand, referred in his statement Thursday to remarks made on March 23 by Ahmed Bhamji, chairman of the Mt. Roskill Masjid E Umar mosque.

Trump threatens to seal the border if Mexico doesn't 'immediately stop' immigrants
[azcentral] WASHINGTON ‐ President Donald Trump on Friday threatened to close the southern border as soon as next week if Mexico doesn't "immediately" step up its efforts to block immigrants attempting to enter the U.S. illegally.

"If they don't stop them, we will keep the border closed," Trump said during a stop in Florida, where he is touring Lake Okeechobee. "And we will keep it closed for a long time. I’m not playing games."

Similar threats in the past have raised questions over the authority of the president to seal the border, the logistics of such an endeavor, and the widespread consequences it would have on Americans’ ability to trade, travel and even eat.

Trump administration officials have sought to characterize the situation at the border as a crisis, even though apprehensions along the southern border are at historic lows.

Border staff: Border Patrol struggling to hire, keep agents

Migrant families: Border Patrol begins releasing migrant families in Arizona

Border Patrol routinely apprehended more than 1 million people a year ‐ peaking at 1.6 million in 2000 ‐ throughout the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. In 2017, the agency apprehended just over 300,000. It 2018, it apprehended just under 400,000.

On the other hand, border officials have reported an increase in migrant families. The Trump administration this week began releasing families from custody because processing centers can't cope with the large increase.

Grand Canyon's Eagle Point claims another photographer
[azcental] An international tourist died after he fell hundreds of feet into the Grand Canyon while trying to take photos on Thursday near the rim of Eagle Point, according to David Leibowitz, a spokesman for Grand Canyon West.

Leibowitz said a tour group from Hong Kong was visiting the Grand Canyon, and many of the tourists were taking photos very close to the rim of the canyon.

While attempting to snap a photo at Eagle Point, adjacent to the popular Skywalk attraction, a man from the group accidentally fell off the rim and into the canyon.

According to Leibowitz, a helicopter search located the 50-year-old man's body at the bottom of the canyon. His body will be transported by helicopter to the nearest hospital.

Grand Canyon West is an area of the canyon west of Grand Canyon National Park that is owned and operated by the Hualapai Indian Tribe. The tribal nation operates the popular Skywalk bridge and other attractions in that area, which is west of the National Park.

'Judge blocks California's high-capacity ammunition ban
Holy shit, there might be hope
[KCRA] High-capacity gun magazines will remain legal in California under a ruling Friday by a federal judge who cited home invasions where a woman used the extra bullets in her weapon to kill an attacker while in two other cases women without additional ammunition ran out of bullets.

"Individual liberty and freedom are not outmoded concepts," San Diego-based U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez wrote as he declared unconstitutional the law that would have banned possessing any magazines holding more than 10 bullets.

California law has prohibited buying or selling such magazines since 2000, but those who had them before then were allowed to keep them.

In 2016, the Legislature and voters approved a law removing that provision. The California arm of the National Rifle Association sued and Benitez sided with the group's argument that banning the magazines infringes on the Second Amendment right to bear arms.

Benitez had temporarily blocked the law from taking effect with a 2017 ruling.

Chuck Michel, an attorney for the NRA and the California Rifle & Pistol Association, said the judge's latest ruling may go much farther by striking down the entire ban, allowing individuals to legally acquire high-capacity magazines for the first time in nearly two decades.

"We're still digesting the opinion but it appears to us that he struck down both the latest ban on possessing by those who are grandfathered in, but also said that everyone has a right to acquire one," Michel said.

Attorney General Xavier Becerra said in a statement that his office is "committed to defending California's common sense gun laws" and is reviewing the decision and evaluating its next steps.
aka... Our boot on your throat is really good for your well being.
The goal of the California law is to deter mass-shootings, with Becerra previously listing as an example the terrorist assault that killed 14 and injured 22 in San Bernardino.

Benitez, an appointee of Republican President George W. Bush, called such shootings "exceedingly rare" while emphasizing the everyday robberies, rapes and murders he said might be countered with firearms.

The Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, named after a former congresswoman who survived a mass shooting, is also still evaluating whether the decision applies more broadly, said staff attorney Ari Freilich.

But Freilich predicted the "extreme outlier decision" will be overturned on appeal and criticized a judge "so deeply out of touch that he believes mass shootings are a 'very small' problem in this country."
Compared to the shootings in Oakland, Chicago and Baltimore... yes they are. By a fucking long shot
Becerra previously said similar Second Amendment challenges have been repeatedly rejected by other courts, with at least seven other states and 11 local governments already restricting the possession or sale of large-capacity magazines. The conflicting decisions may ultimately be sorted out by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Benitez ruled that magazines holding more than 10 rounds are "arms" under the U.S. Constitution, and that the California law "burdens the core of the Second Amendment by criminalizing the acquisition and possession of these magazines that are commonly held by law-abiding citizens for defense of self, home, and state."

Benitez described three home invasions, two of which ended with the female victims running out of bullets.

In the third case, the pajama-clad woman with a high-capacity magazine took on three armed intruders, firing at them while simultaneously calling for help on her phone.

"She had no place to carry an extra magazine and no way to reload because her left hand held the phone with which she was still trying to call 911," the judge wrote, saying she killed one attacker while two escaped.
You don't need more than 10 rounds to defend your home! - leftist excuse
Even if we didn't, which the above examples disprove, the 2nd amendment wasn't written so you could hunt or defend your home. It was written because the founding fathers thought there would be a time where you would need to stand toe to toe with a government paramilitary force.

The magazine ban was included in 2016 legislation that voters strengthened with their approval of Proposition 63, which was championed by then-Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Gov. Newsom did not comment Friday.

UN asks states to crack down on terror financing
[DAWN] The UN Security Council ordered countries worldwide to step up the fight against terrorism financing on Thursday by ensuring they have laws that make it a serious crime to fund terrorist acts.

The council unanimously adopted a French-drafted resolution that was the first stand-alone measure dedicated specifically to countering the financing of terrorism. The resolution calls on all states to "ensure that their domestic laws and regulations establish serious criminal offences" to prosecute those who collect funds or provide economic resources to terrorist organizations.

The binding resolution was drafted under chapter 7 of the UN Charter, which means it can be enforced with sanctions.

UN counter-terror chief Vladimir Voronkov told the council that the measure "comes at a critical time" as recent attacks have shown that terror groups have access to financial flows through legal and illegal means.

The resolution urged countries to establish financial intelligence units to strengthen efforts to counter terrorism financing and to share information on their investigations.

Marshall Billingslea, president of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) which combats money-laundering and terror financing, said less than a fifth of countries were applying laws that prosecute suspected terror financiers as criminals.

Billingslea said the resolution would also contribute to halting ransom payments for kidnappings by terror groups, which have become a major source of funding.

"States must not allow hostage-takers or bandidos forces of Evil to benefit from ransom payments," Billingslea told the council. "This is crucial, in particular as kidnapping for ransom has become the major funding source used by the remnants of ISIS around the world," he told the council, referring to the bully boy Islamic State

Five arrested after Maltese military seizes tanker hijacked by migrants
[DAWN] Five men were nabbed
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
on Thursday after Maltese armed forces took control of a tanker that was hijacked by migrants colonists off Libya and the ship docked in Malta.

The Palau-flagged tanker Elhiblu I had picked up 108 migrants colonists including women and kiddies on Tuesday evening and then headed back to Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
But six nautical miles from port the ship suddenly changed course and headed north toward Europe.

Italia’s far-right Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said the vessel had been hijacked and vowed that the migrants colonists would not be allowed to disembark in Italia.

The 52-metre (170-foot) tanker was about 30 nautical miles from Malta when the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) established communications with the captain.

"The captain repeatedly stated that he was not in control of the vessel and that he and his crew were being forced and threatened by a number of migrants colonists to proceed to Malta," the AFM said in a statement on Thursday morning.

"AFM Patrol Vessel P21 stopped the tanker from entering Maltese territorial waters.

"An AFM Special Operations Unit team was dispatched to board and secure the vessel in order to hand over control of the ship to the captain." Escorted by the Maltese navy, the tanker arrived in the port of Valletta around 8:30am.

Five men suspected of having been the leaders of the hijacking were arrested, handcuffed and taken away in a police van.

Unborn baby dies as pregnant woman shot at, critically wounded by 'lover' in Karachi
[DAWN] An unborn baby died after a man shot at and critically maimed a heavily pregnant woman and later attempted suicide by shooting himself in New Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
area on Friday evening, police said.

Kashan Lodhi, 34, shot at and injured Iqra alias Javeria inside a flat located in Super Terrace, Sector 11-H near UP Mor area of Karachi. He later attempted to kill himself with the same weapon.

Both the man and the woman sustained critical bullet wounds and were transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

New Karachi Station House Officer Tahir Khan told Dawn that Iqra, a full-term pregnant woman, was due to give birth to her child on Saturday (tomorrow).

According to the officer, Iqra had obtained a divorce (khula) from her husband, who lives in Dubai, around three months ago. The two have a four-year-old son, who lives with his father.

After developing differences with her husband, Iqra started living with her friend, Irsa, at her flat in New Karachi for the last several months, the SHO revealed. Kashan is a brother of Irsa.

Regarding the possible motive behind the incident, the SHO quoted Irsa as saying that her brother had been involved in a 'love-affair' with the recently divorced 35-year-old woman and that he even wanted to marry her.

On Friday evening, Kashan took out a pistol "all of a sudden" and opened fire on Iqra, resulting in bullet injuries to her abdomen. Irsa said she tried to stop her brother but he also shot himself in the abdomen.

According to police, Irsa in her statement said she is unaware as to what actually transpired before her brother took the extreme step.

Police surgeon Dr Qarar Ahmed Abbasi told Dawn that the unborn baby was found to have expired because of the critical bullet injuries received by the woman on her abdomen.

He added that the maimed woman was shifted to the operation theatre where doctors were trying to save her life.

217th Corps of the Afghan military to be inaugurated in coming weeks: Khalid
And all of them able to read, wrote, and cipher at a second or fourth grade level? I’ve lost track of the current target for soldierly literacy.
[KhaamaPress] The acting minister of defense Asadullah Khalid has said that the 217th Corps of the army will be established in coming weeks.

Speaking during a security conference in RS compound in northern Balkh province, Khalid said considering the vast swathes of territory in the north and large population living in northern provinces, the leadership of the government and defense institutions have reached to a conclusion that the existing forces are not enough to provide proper security to people.

Khalid further added that the 217th Corps of the Afghan military will be inaugurated as per President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
’s order in coming weeks.

He also added that the leadership of the ministry of defense considers segregation of duties and changes should be incorporated in leadership and opinion to lead the war in the North.

In other parts of his speech, Khalid reiterated that the enemies have plans and programs for war and preparing to further intensify conflict to gain more privileges in peace talks.

Emphasizing that the current year will be a difficult year in terms of security, Khalid said the armed forces should not only suffice in preventing turbans to control more areas but the hideouts of the enemies should be eliminated in offensive operations.

West Africa Province (ISWAP), burnt the base along with an armoured vehicle and a primary school.

"They came around 6:30 pm (1730 GMT) in 13 vehicles and attacked the military location just outside the village," Miringa resident Umar Sanda told AFP.

"The two sides fought for more than one hour while all the people in the village fled into the bush."

Fleeing residents later returned to their homes and "found the base, the lodging, an armoured personnel carrier and a section of a primary school burnt," said another resident, Abba Usman.

Usman said the bodies of a policeman and a resident who lived near the base were recovered.

"The soldiers were able to fight off the attack and prevented the bully boyz from entering the village," said civilian militia leader Mustapha Karimbe, from the nearby town of Biu.

The area around Miringa has been repeatedly targeted by bully boyz since Buratai became Nigeria's chief of army staff in 2015.

In January this year, six soldiers were killed and 14 were maimed when ISWAP sacked a base in nearby Kamuya village, stealing weapons and burning military vehicles.

Kamuya, the home village of Buratai's mother, was hit twice in December 2015, not long after he was named the army chief.

Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
's decade-long conflict has killed more than 27,000 people and displaced another 1.8 million from their homes in northeast Nigeria alone.

Attacks have also been recorded in the wider Lake Chad area of neighbouring Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
, Chad and Niger, with particular concern in recent months about attacks from ISWAP.

The IS-backed faction has repeatedly targeted military installations and troops since mid-2018.

It may also have replaced its leader with a hardliner at a time of mounting concern about the spread of jihadism in the wider West African region.

Europe
Paris Attacks 'Landlord' Sentenced to Four Years in Jail
[AnNahar] A French man who rented his flat to the ringleader of the 2015 Gay Paree attacks during a massive police manhunt was sentenced to four years in prison Friday for "hiding terrorists."

Jawad Bendaoud
...the nattily dressed and bespectacled acquirer of abandoned slum apartments that he was in the habit of renting out to black-souled scoundrels, unremarked by his gentle, niqab-clad neighbours...
was convicted on appeal of hiding Islamic State

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
jihadist Abdelhamid Abaaoud and his accomplice Chakib Akrouh, who holed up after the November 13 attacks in Bendaoud's apartment in the Gay Paree suburb of Saint-Denis.

Bendaoud was the first person to be tried in La Belle France over the synchronized shooting and suicide kabooms on the Bataclan concert hall, national stadium and several cafes in which a total of 130 people were killed.

The attacks were the worst in La Belle France since World War II.

Five days later, police tracked Abaaoud down to Bendaoud's flat and launched a dramatic raid, in which Abaaoud, Akrouh and a female cousin of Abaaoud's were killed.

Bendaoud, a 31-year-old drug pusher, became a national laughing stock after declaring in an infamous TV interview that he had detected nothing suspicious about his lodgers.

At his first trial, the court found insufficient evidence that he knew the men were part of the November attacks cell.

Bendaoud presented himself as a cocaine-sniffing womanizer who was in the habit of renting out his flat to gangsters without asking questions.

The prosecution appealed the verdict, which was overturned on Friday.

Abaaoud's cousin Youssef Ait Boulahcen, a 26-year-old ambulance driver who was tried alongside him, was also sentenced to a four-year custodial sentence on Friday for "failing to report a terrorist crime."

In a separate case earlier this week, Abaaoud was given a one-year sentence for issuing death threats against one of the survivors of the Gay Paree attacks.

How do we defend our cities, our nations against this slime ? If not us, who ? If not now , when ?

One day we shall look back and rue these days when we let liberal legislators, soft judges and useless cops lead us into hell.

Trump says he has ‘taken better care of Puerto Rico than any man ever'
[Washington Examiner] Criticized that he is privately complaining about giving too much aid to Puerto Rico, President Trump Thursday afternoon claimed that he has done more for the U.S. island territory than any of his predecessors.

"I’ve taken better care of Puerto Rico than any man ever," the president told reporters gathered on the South Lawn of the White House.

Trump highlighted what he said was $91 billion in disaster relief that his administration is sending to Puerto Rico, which was devastated by Hurricane Maria in September 2017. The island territory is still recovering from the damage caused by the storm.

Other estimates put the amount of relief to Puerto Rico at closer to $40 million. Trump appeared to be confusing the amount for Puerto Rico with total disaster assistance appropriated by Congress, most of which was spent on destruction caused by hurricanes in Puerto Rico, Texas and Florida.

"Puerto Rico has been taken care of better by Donald Trump than by any living human being," the president said, in a characteristic third-person reference to himself. "And I think the people of Puerto Rico understand it."

Britain
Senior Tories concerned about Gove’s views on Muslims: Lady Warsi
[PRESSTV] Sayeeda Hussain Warsi, the former co-chair of the Conservative Party and Britannia’s first Moslem to serve in cabinet, has said she is fearful of the idea of Michael Gove becoming prime minister. Some view Gove as an "Islamophobe" due to his anti-Moslem views.

In an interview with The Guardian on Friday, Warsi, a member of the House of Lords, said she and other senior members of the Conservative Party are concerned about Gove’s views on British Moslems.

On Wednesday, British Prime Minister Theresa May announced she was prepared to step down before the next phase of Brexit negotiations. Gove, the secretary of environment, is among the leading candidates to replace May.

Lady Warsi said any party that elected Gove as a leader "has got major problems."

Asked what she thought about the idea of Gove replacing the current prime minister, she said, "I just don’t even want to imagine it. I’ve sat in too many meetings, I’ve done everything from rolling my eyes, to thinking, gosh, thank God he’s not prime minister."

Warsi said there were other senior Conservative politicians who also had serious concerns about him. "I’m not the only one to raise concerns about Michael. Ken Clarke has spoken about it, even his friends close to him. Even David Cameron
... has stated that he is certainly a big Thatcher fan, but I don't know whether that makes me a Thatcherite, which means he's not. Since he is not deeply ideological he lacks core principles and is easily led. He has been described as certainly not a Pitt, Elder or Younger, but he does wear a nice suit so maybe he's Beau Brummel ...
has spoken about concerns about the way he views the world and the way he views certain communities."

Following the 2005 London tube and bus bombings, Gove wrote a highly controversial book, Celsius 7/7, in which he railed against Moslems. He stated that "a sizeable minority" of Britannia’s 1.8 million Moslems held "rejectionist Islamist views."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Report: U.S. Golan Move Raises Lebanese ‘Concerns’ over Shebaa Farms
[AnNahar] Leb’s position on the US decision to recognize Israel's illusory sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights was not limited to resentment, but also raised fears that this decision would include the Lebanese occupied territories of Shebaa Farms, which Israel considers as part of Golan, Asharq al-Awsat newspaper reported Friday.

Shebaa Farms are located on the border between Leb and the occupied part of Golan. It has a strategic geographical location as it links northern Israeli settlements and occupied Golan.

Lebanese concerns stem from the fact that when Leb claimed its right to get back Shebaa Farms and Kfar Shuba following the Israeli army’s withdrawal from southern Leb in 2000, the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
replied that it was a land linked to Golan, reported the daily.

Israel occupied these farms in 1967. But prior to 2000, there was a Lebanese-Syrian dispute over whether the farms belonged to Leb or Syria due to overlapping land and lack of official delineation between the two countries.

But after the liberation of southern Leb and the Israeli withdrawal, Syria declared without formal documentation that Shebaa Farms belongs to Leb. Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Supressor of the Damascenes...
said in January 2006 that Shebaa Farms were Lebanese, but stressed that "the demarcation of the border will be after Israel withdraws from this area."

After Trump’s recognition of Israel's illusory sovereignty over the Golan, Lebanese officials issued a series of opposing positions, most notably President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
...

who described the day when the US decided to give Israel that right as the "Black Day.".

However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
Lebanese officials did not see any reason to consider the recent US decision to include Leb’s occupied territory, said the daily.

A Lebanese official told Asharq al-Awsat on condition of anonymity: "No one mentioned our land to declare its annexation to Israel. Therefore, the official Lebanese positions were limited to criticizing the move because it affects Syria and its lands. Our occupied territories were never part of Golan."

On the other hand, Head of Institute for Near East and Gulf Military Analysis -Inegma Riad Kahwaji told Asharq al-Awsat: "As long as Shebaa Farms, the Kfar Shuba Hills and the village of Ghajar are for Israel a territory belonging to Golan, most of which were occupied in 1967, the American recognition of its illusory sovereignty over Golan automatically means its illusory sovereignty over its territories including occupied Lebanese territories."

Kahwaji added: "What makes things worse is the absence of clear documents and maps that determine where Golan begins and where it ends. The Syrians have always wanted to keep things ambiguous. There was an oral position by Assad that Shebaa Farms and Kfar Shuba Hills are Lebanese territory, but the Syrian government refused to submit anything in writing accompanied by maps and documents."

He told the daily that "Lebanese maps prove that Shebaa Farms are Lebanese lands occupied by the Syrians in the 1950s, and when Israel occupied the Golan Heights and that part of land the file turned into a Syrian-Israeli file and Israel is dealing with these territories as occupied Syria."

Kahwaji did not rule out the possibility of a military reaction, saying: "If they decide to open the Golan front, there will be a great Israeli reaction. We do not rule out the fact that the American-Israeli move was meant to drive this reaction as a prelude to a military action," he said "Let us wait and see how things develop."

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Friday daytime adventures: Palestinians Injured In Protests At Gaza Border, Hamas May Declare War Saturday
[Jpost] Israeli troops shot and maimed seven Paleostinians on the Gazoo border on Friday, Gazoo medical officials said, the day before a mass rally called to mark the first anniversary of weekly protests in which around 200 Paleostinians have been killed.

Despite a decision by Gazoo protest organizers not to hold a big demonstration on Friday some Paleostinians turned out, although in smaller numbers than usual. Humanitarian officials urged restraint for Saturday's anniversary to avoid any further bloodshed.

The Israeli military said its troops faced around 800 demonstrators along the fortified frontier on Friday and that they had used riot dispersal measures to defend the border.

There were also sporadic festivities in the West Bank, where Paleostinian youths threw petrol bombs in Hebron, and 150 demonstrators hurled stones at Israeli troops, who fired back with rubber bullets and tear gas.
Another Jerusalem Post article adds:
Paleostinian media also reported the IDF attacked Paleostinians who attempted to blow balloons carrying bombs towards Israel.
Ha’aretz bumps it up to eight wounded — somewhere I saw it claimed one of them was shot in his dangly bits, but Ha’aretz has no interest in such specific geography:
Eight Palestinians were wounded by live fire during protests at the fence separating Israel from the Gaza Strip on Friday, the Gaza Health Ministry said. One of the wounded was hit in the stomach and was in serious condition, according to the ministry.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
US planning to redraw map of Syria after Golan Heights move
[ALMASDARNEWS] The US State Department says the administration is preparing to redraw all government maps of Israel and the surrounding region to include the Golan Heights as a part of Israel, a department spokesperson told VOA Persian on Thursday.

The new maps will be "consistent" with the recent change in US policy, which recognises the occupied Syrian territory of the Golan Heights as a part of the state of Israel, the spokesperson said.

This was confirmed by Brian Hook, the US special representative for Iran, who also said the State Department would "redraw" the maps and publish them "as soon as they are ready", The Times of Israel reports.

At the time of publication, the US State Department world map, which is said to be updated on a "daily basis," still shows the Golan Heights as part of Syria. The CIA Factbook map of Israel, published on the Library of Congress website, is also yet to be updated.

Israel captured the Golan Heights during the 1967 Six-Day War, officially annexing the area in 1981. The US did not officially recognise the annexation at the time but turned a blind eye to the move. On Monday, Trump signed a presidential proclamation unilaterally recognising the contested territory as a part of Israel, sparking condemnation from the UN, and from the Security Council in particular.

At a Security Council session Wednesday, most speakers denounced the move, pointing towards a UN resolution that called the Israeli annexation of the region "null and void and without international legal effect."

#1  Since it was drawn in the first place by two colonialists, what's so holy about it?
