Mattis: War with North Korea would be 'catastrophic'
h/t Instapundit
Secretary of Defense James Mattis made his first on-camera remarks Thursday about North Korea's threats to attack Guam with ICBMs, saying that a potential nuclear incident "would be catastrophic."

While speaking to reporters at the Defense Innovation Unit Experimental(DIUx) event in Mountain View, California, he was asked by a reporter, "Can you talk about the human toll we might see in the event of a nuclear confrontation?"

"My portfolio, my mission, my responsibility is to have military options if you need it," Mattis responded. "However, right now, Secretary Tillerson, Ambassador Haley, you can see the American effort is diplomatically led, it has diplomatic traction, it is gaining diplomatic results. And I want to stay right there right now. The tragedy of war is well enough known. It does not need another characterization beyond the fact that it would be catastrophic."

Deviating from the tone of President Trump, who said the U.S. would unleash "fire and fury" upon North Korea, Mattis stressed that the route forward would be diplomatic, and he repeated the importance of the unanimous 15-1 United Nations Security Council vote to impose economic sanctions on North Korea.

Home Front: Culture Wars
David Brooks strikes again
h/t Instapundit
There are many actors in the whole Google/diversity drama, but I’d say the one who’s behaved the worst is the C.E.O., Sundar Pichai.

The first actor is James Damore, who wrote the memo. In it, he was trying to explain why 80 percent of Google’s tech employees are male. He agreed that there are large cultural biases but also pointed to a genetic component. Then he described some of the ways the distribution of qualities differs across male and female populations.

Damore was tapping into the long and contentious debate about genes and behavior. On one side are those who believe that humans come out as blank slates and are formed by social structures. On the other are the evolutionary psychologists who argue that genes interact with environment and play a large role in shaping who we are. In general the evolutionary psychologists have been winning this debate.

...Which brings us to Pichai, the supposed grown-up in the room. He could have wrestled with the tension between population-level research and individual experience. He could have stood up for the free flow of information. Instead he joined the mob. He fired Damore and wrote, "To suggest a group of our colleagues have traits that make them less biologically suited to that work is offensive and not O.K."

COMMENTS
That is a blatantly dishonest characterization of the memo. Damore wrote nothing like that about his Google colleagues. Either Pichai is unprepared to understand the research (unlikely), is not capable of handling complex data flows (a bad trait in a C.E.O.) or was simply too afraid to stand up to a mob.

Regardless which weakness applies, this episode suggests he should seek a nonleadership position. We are at a moment when mobs on the left and the right ignore evidence and destroy scapegoats. That’s when we need good leaders most.

Get ready for the 'tech alt-right' to gain power and influence in Silicon Valley
h/t Instapundit
The firing of James Damore over his "Google's Ideological Echo Chamber" memo will empower the tech alt-right.

To understand why, imagine yourself as a Republican working at a big Silicon Valley tech company.

You agree with Damore that some average differences between men and women probably explain some of why such a high proportion of computer programmers are male. You, however, in no way consider yourself sexist.

What Damore’s termination tells you is that many in your field consider people with your beliefs to be unfit to work with. They hold opinions of you similar to those of former senior Google employee Yonatan Zunger, who wrote about Damore, saying:

"Do you understand that at this point, I could not in good conscience assign anyone to work with you? I certainly couldn’t assign any women to deal with this, a good number of the people you might have to work with may simply punch you in the face, and even if there were a group of like-minded individuals I could put you with, nobody would be able to collaborate with them." (Emphasis mine.)

If you are on the right, you probably find it hard to imagine that any reasonably person could read Damore’s memo and think that it reveals the author to be sexist, punchable, or a danger to women’s careers. It appears to you that Damore was excommunicated for questioning the progressive diversity narrative in a most respectful manner.

The right calls the kind of people who went after Damore by the derogative term "Social Justice Warriors" (SJWs). SJWs hold progressive views on diversity and identify politics and, supposedly, find virtue in harming those with heretical beliefs.

...Vox Day, a leader of the alt-right, wrote a book called "SJWs Always Lie" with the explicit goal to "show you how SJWs operate, teach you how to see through their words, explain how to correctly anticipate their actions, and give you the weapons you need to successfully thwart their inevitable attempts to disqualify you, discredit you, and destroy your reputation."

Damore’s firing is probably going to cause many Silicon Valley Republicans to prepare themselves by reading this book.

The key difference in tactics between the alt-right and traditional right is that the alt-right doesn’t place much value on playing fair, and they mock conservatives’ seeming desire to lose honorably. On a recent Periscope video Vox said that his supporters in tech companies (which he claims are numerous) should "be the second or third most enthusiastic SJW in your group."

He considers SWJs to be the enemy that’s beyond reason. When a commentator suggested that publically supporting SJW views might give them legitimacy, Vox said "F--- legitimacy. You are thinking like a conservative..."

Afghanistan
US airstrike kills several civilians in Afghanistan
Several civilians have been killed in an US airstrike in eastern Afghanistan, local officials said Friday, the latest setback in efforts to bring peace to the war-torn country.
"On Thursday afternoon, the American forces bombarded a civilian private vehicle... when they were travelling inside the district," he told AFP.

"Unfortunately, in the airstrike we have casualties. Eleven people were killed and one wounded. All the victims, which included women and children, were civilians and they were from one family. Crowded civilian vehicle.

"The victims were beyond recognition, So how do we know they were civilians, and from one family? and they were placed inside the sacks and were buried late last night," he added.

One wonders how such a mistake could happen, since there is no mention of any active fighting (and resulting confusion) in the area: was the vehicle 'authorized' as a legitimate target by a Talibunny pretending to be an Afghan official?

#8  Kathleen, maybe you should take an extended work leave (be term-limited) and read up on the Bill of Rights and the 2nd Amendment. The purpose of the 2nd Amendment is to prevent a tyrannical government from taking over.

Amendment II
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Free individuals must protect themselves against the evil will of men, the mob and criminals, and a tyrannical state. The 2nd Amendment guarantees the other amendments.

We often hear about "fake news" today. I have often thought that if you are engaged in the spreading of propaganda and disinformation, you should not enjoy the protections of the 1st Amendment. However, it is fortunate that far wiser heads than mine have established the 1st Amendment which protects freedom of religion speech and the press. These freedoms are not to be abridged.

Some other quotes:

“When the law disarms good guys, bad guys rejoice.”
― Ted Nugent

Civil Wars happen when the victimized are armed. Genocide happens when they are not.”
― A.E. Samaan

The MSM might consider the following quote: “I'm all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with typewriters.”
― Frank Lloyd Wright

Those Who Walk Away From Feminism
h/t Instapundit (h/t Ursula Le Guin)
As a woman, (according to the State Department) a minority, and an individualist, I feel the need to weigh in on the whole James Damore controversy.

I feel like what’s being discussed isn’t even close to what is actually going on. In fact, as with many things that are cherished by the left, I feel their "diversity" isn’t diversity at all, and their social engineering attempts fail because they’re not doing what they say they’re doing.

First, and before I get into details here, James Damore did not say what most people think he said. He did not say women are unsuited for tech jobs. He did not say women only have tech jobs due to affirmative action. That is all bullshit piled on by those mau-mauing him, in an effort to expel someone whose questioning made them uncomfortable.

Why it made them uncomfortable is the fascinating part of all this.

It makes them uncomfortable because it shatters the brittle shell of their enforced narrative, which can only be kept by keeping everyone from saying anything against it. It is very much a "the king is naked" situation. If James Damore is allowed to say men and women are different, the entire project of feminism shatters.

Even lefty Seymour Hersh agrees that the Russian fable begin in the mind of Obama's CIA director.
[Spectator] A tool of the Muslim Brotherhood (during a stint in Saudi Arabia he says that he grew to admire Islam and the concept of jihad), Brennan refused to take his oath as CIA director on the Bible. His hatred for Michael Flynn and Trump stems in large part from his Islamophilia and his nostalgia for the socialism and the atheism of the Old Soviet Union.
...
While running this operation of political espionage, he was auditioning for a job under Hillary and turning CIA headquarters into a branch office of her campaign.

In this hothouse atmosphere of pro-Hillary partisanship, any and all contacts between the Trump campaign and anyone even remotely connected to Russia became occasions for "unmaskings."

Instead of exposing this blatant political espionage, the media became a conduit for it. Hersh notes that the New York Times was in effect under the editorship of John Brennan last year. He could plant any smear he wanted against Trump on its front page.

It is obvious that Brennan’s circle was responsible for many if not most of the criminal leaks. Why doesn’t the FBI raid Brennan’s home and rifle through his records? The reason that won’t happen is that the ruling class and deep state, which are composed largely of aging radicals, protects traitors while punishing patriots -- a conclusion to which the improbable testimony of Seymour Hersh adds still more credence.

Hong Kong politician 'stapled' by Chinese agents
[Aljazeera] A prominent member of Hong Kong's Democratic Party said he was beaten and "stapled" by Chinese agents in Hong Kong before being dumped on a remote beach.

Howard Lam, a key pro-democracy activist in the former British colony, told reporters on Friday he was confronted by men speaking Mandarin - spoken in Beijing but not widely in Cantonese-speaking Hong Kong - outside a sports store.

Lam said the men took him away, interrogating him and stapling his skin 21 times for being "unpatriotic" in a nine-hour ordeal.

He was knocked out and eventually found himself dumped on a beach in Hong Kong's remote Sai Kung district.

Hong Kong's police commissioner, Lau Wai-chung, told media he was taking Lam's accusations seriously and they were attaching great importance to investigating the case. The Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of China's State Council were not immediately available for comment.

The alleged attack comes as hostility to Beijing has spiralled in Hong Kong and the battle for full democracy has become a defining issue for the city of 7.3 million people.

Foggy Bottom Foreign Service Pogs 'Butt Hurt' over POTUS 'Payroll Cut' Comment
[ABC] Current and former U.S. diplomats reacted to President Trump's comments thanking Russian President Vladimir Putin for expelling U.S. embassy workers with dismay.

"As far as I'm concerned I'm very thankful that he let go of a large number of people because now we have a smaller payroll," Trump said at a briefing at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey on Thursday.

"We'll save a lot of money," he added.

It's unclear if the U.S. would save any money because of the expulsion. Any diplomats removed from Russia would be sent to posts elsewhere around the world.

The Russian order to expel 755 U.S. diplomats last month came in response to new sanctions imposed by the U.S. A diplomatic row over Russian interference in the 2016 election began last year after President Obama ordered the seizure of two diplomatic facilities used by Russia in the U.S. and the expulsion of 35 diplomats and their families.

One of those compounds, in rural Maryland outside of Washington, was said to be used for espionage, according to former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.

A State Dept. official who is a foreign service officer told ABC News the message from Trump thanking Putin is "really quite sad."

If the requirement to return home to select a new Khan wasn't followed, most of Central Europe would have ended up like Russia. Instead, Subutai and the horde about faced near Vienna to return to Karakorum.

re: assimilation

2003 found eight percent of men in 16 different Asian populations (0.5 percent of the global male population) shared nearly identical Y-chromosome sequences. Further DNA evidence traced their lineage to Mongolia about 1,000 years ago, which corresponds pretty closely with Genghis's reign.

It works both ways.

Jewish World Review's Eleanor Laise: A Winning Recipe for Picking Dividend Stocks
[Jewish World Review] There are almost as many dividend-stock-picking strategies as there are dividend stocks. You could go for the dividend "achievers," which have boosted dividends for at least 10 consecutive years, or the "aristocrats," which have raised dividends for at least 25 years. You could focus on stocks with the fastest dividend-growth rates, or simply those with today's highest yields.

But to cook up a portfolio full of healthy, sustainable and growing payouts, you need more ingredients. Recent research suggests that mixing a high dividend yield with strong dividend growth and a low "payout ratio" (the percentage of earnings paid out as dividends) is a winning recipe. Pankaj Patel, managing director at investment-research firm Cirrus Research, says a portfolio of stocks combining those three factors has beaten Standard & Poor's 500-stock index by 6 percentage points annually over the long haul.

Generous dividends are a lifeline for seniors drawing income from their portfolios--particularly when the 10-year Treasury yields 2.4% and the S&P 500 yields less than 2%. But dividend growth is slowing and payout ratios are climbing, presenting challenges for investors seeking healthy, sustainable payouts.

Chelsea Manning: This is what an entitled swine looks like (Viewer caution advised)
[Victory Girls] I was going to title this post "This Is What a Traitorous Swine Looks Like," but I realized I ought to use my words more judiciously than emotionally. I therefore changed the title to reflect what I really want to say about Bradley Chelsea Pile of Petrified Hyena Turds Manning.

For the record, I refuse to call Manning a woman ‐ not because he doesn’t own the required parts, but because he simply doesn’t deserve that courtesy after putting troops, policy, sources, and innocents whose only crime was being nice to coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan in harms way. Nope. Just nope.

After seeing this photo and tweet from Manning, I began to hate my breakfast and my eyes (for what has been seen cannot be unseen). "This is what freedom looks like," says the caption.

I’m normally not a person who ridicules people’s appearance, but Manning really does look like a dude ‐ a pasty, white, somewhat flabby, paunchy dude in a red bathing suit and potential 5 o’clock shadow. That’s why his appearance in Vogue magazine ‐ especially their description of him as a "graceful, blue-eyed, trans" is particularly puzzling to me, considering Vogue’s beatification of women such as the stunning Lupita Nyong’o, Margot Robbie, Natalia Vodianova, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera (hat tip to the King and I).

But in the case of Manning, the outside is quite as unsightly and repellent as the inside, and the fact that Vogue chose to glorify this perfidious sack of whining entitlement is reprehensible to me as an American and a human being.

I also note with some revulsion that Manning has "Network Security Expert" listed in his Twitter description.

The Real Story Of That Lynch-Clinton Tarmac Meeting Gets Even Stranger
[Hot Air] When we last checked in on newly released information regarding that infamous tarmac meeting between then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton, we learned that the media wasn’t terribly interested in discussing the matter any more than absolutely necessary. But as reporters continue to dig through the trove of Justice Department emails obtained by the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, we find out that there were some people who were very interested in talking. The people in question would be Lynch’s staff and they were having a flurry of discussions with none other than the folks at James Comey’s office.

You’ll recall that all of this was taking place only days before Comey would hold his bizarre press conference where essentially cleared Hillary Clinton of any criminal wrongdoing in the private email server scandal. (Only to famously reopen the investigation later.) So if it was really just a casual, chance meeting to discuss grandchildren and golf, why would the Attorney General’s office be sending out a flurry of messages to the FBI Director’s office? It turns out that one of Lynch’s own attorneys was editing talking points for the White House in terms of how to address questions from the press and another of her people was sending talking points to the FBI.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
7 Things You Need To Know About The Opioid Epidemic
[Daily Wire] As The Daily Wire reported, President Trump is currently drafting paperwork to declare the opioid epidemic a "national emergency."

Once upon a time, we considered drug abuse to be an underground issue impacting the dregs of society. "They" have a drug problem, we told ourselves. The "other," that faceless statistic we all heard about but never talked about in polite company, was beyond our help. Today, the opioid crisis is staring us in the face. It's inescapable. This is a full-scale epidemic affecting hardened criminals and unassuming housewives alike.

America’s opioid addiction is costing countless lives every day. But why? How did we get here? The fact is, we're here because we've done very little to address the problem.

Some have linked the uptick in opioid-related addiction to the recession, arguing that unemployment has bred a culture of despair in which drugs are sought as a refuge to blunt the pain of loss. Others place the blame on the astonishing accessibility of painkillers and other prescription drugs.

But the truth is, of course, more complicated than these reductive reasons imply. To understand opioid addiction, we first need to understand what the drug does and the effect it has on the brain.

The End of Government Schools
[American Thinker] When in doubt, cry racism. It’s the left’s go-to weapon when the facts are against them. School choice advocates, then, should be heartened: Progressives lately have had to stoop low, get dirty, and hurl mudballs in our direction, because that’s all they’ve got.

This month progressives let fly three separate volleys, hoping the "racist" argument would somehow find its mark. The New York Times, the Center for American Progress, and the American Federation of Teachers all argued that educational choice is "racist," rooted in "slavery," and a cover for "segregation." (One commentator also blames "anti-Catholic sentiment and a particular form of Christian fundamentalism.") Worse, they declare authoritatively, "choice" will spell the end of democracy, as we know it.

First came the Center for American Progress. Their report, "The Racist Origins of Private School Vouchers" (July 12, 2017), chains current voucher proposals to segregationist policies of the past, concluding that vouchers are "fundamentally positioned to funnel taxpayers’ dollars into private schools while draining much-needed resources from public schools and ... vulnerable students."

A week later, Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, called Education Secretary Betsy DeVos "a public school denier, denying the good in our public schools and their foundational place in our democracy." Weingarten described "vouchers, for-profit charters and other privatization schemes" as the "polite cousins of segregation," part of a scheme to "protect the economic and political power of the few against the rights of the many." She accuses proponents of educational choice of trying "to starve public schools to the breaking point ... and let the market handle the rest." And that, she declared ominously, is "how a democracy comes apart."

#1  The federal government runs two K-12 school systems. One by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and another by the Department of Defense. Both can hire and fire. The former rates below national average, the latter above. The DoD schools are not known to discriminate, but are known to expect discipline as one might expect of an organization oriented to that concept. Added to the equation is the value placed by the 'consumer' population in education and the expected behavior of its participants in that light.
Posted by: Procopius2k || 08/11/2017 9:39 Comments || Top||

#2  As an anti-progressive, this is an issue I struggle with. If they are against it, I am usually for it, but I am opposed to using vouchers in favor of public schools. Education is the great equalizer. Public schools foster assimilation and cooperation among diverse students, taking knowledge with them to influence their homes and communities. There are standards to graduate and the teachers Americans, not foreign visa holders teaching segregated classes Shariah law. While charter schools are perceived as superior, many parents find the services mandated for public schools are not provided in private charters. Special needs kids are not accommodated, for example. Vouchers should not be used to subsidize parochial and charter schools if they don't provide for all students as mandated by the Constitution. The good news is attendance estimates this year in Houston may be off this year because students are returning to public schools. Easier to fire tenured teachers than to end another government handout. Parents will demand the hefty private tab be subsidized on Joe Blow's back so as to not discriminate, as "free education" will become another mandated wealth redistribution slush fund for elitest administrators.

Defending the Indefensible: Hatch defends McConnell against Trump's attacks
[The Hill] Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) on Thursday defended Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell after President Trump ratcheted up his criticism of the Kentucky Republican.

"[McConnell] has been the best leader we’ve had in my time in the Senate, through very tough challenges. I fully support him," Hatch, the most senior Republican senator, wrote in a tweet.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), who has emerged as a vocal critic of Trump, also chimed in with support for McConnell.

The backing for McConnell came as Trump on Thursday escalated his attack against the GOP leader for failing to pass his legislative agenda.

Japan could legally intercept a Guam-bound North Korea missile: Kyodo
[REUTERS] Japan could legally intercept a North Korean missile headed towards Guam, Defence Minister Itsunori Onodera said on Thursday in remarks reported by Kyodo news service.

Onodera told a lower house of parliament committee that Japan would be allowed to hit a missile headed towards the U.S. Pacific territory if it was judged to be an existential threat to Japan, Kyodo said. This is a reiteration of the Japanese government's position.

Experts say Japan does not currently have the capability to shoot down a missile flying over its territory headed for Guam.

Syrian Army liberates key territory from ISIS in east Hama
[AlMasdar] Syrian Arab Army (SAA) forces, led by the Elite Republican Guard, continue to rout ISIS in the northeastern countryside of Hama Governorate, today liberating a number of key locations from the terrorist group.

According to military sources, the SAA was able to secure three key areas from ISIS after a brief engagement with the jihadist faction’s bandidos snuffies south of Ithriyah town, these include the runs of Kharab al-Katnah, the mountain of Jabal Dawylab and the hilltop of Tal Mazroor.

Al-Masdar News currently has no information regarding losses sustained by either the SAA or ISIS as a result of today’s engagement.

In any case, this recent advance by the SAA comes several days after it liberated the village of Marinia (for a second time) and a number of points south of it from ISIS.

The offensive operation being witnessed in this region of Syria is all part of an ongoing effort by pro-government forces to create a large buffer zone south of the Ithriyah to Resafa highway and to further isolate Islamic State

Rebels mass retreat to Jordan as Syrian military captures entire Sweida-Jordan border
[AlMasdar] The Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA) has suffered a major defeat today as their forces retreated from several points along the Jordanian border.

Backed by Hashd al-Sha’abi (Iraqi paramilitary) and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Corps captured 151st Border Garrison today after launching a powerful attack along the Jordanian border.

According to a military source in southern Syria, the Syrian Arab Army and Hashd al-Sha’abi captured a total of 57km along the Jordanian border, forcing the Free Syrian Army’s Ahmad al-Abdo unit to mass retreat to Jordan.

The Syrian military has now connected the 134th, 139th, and 151st border-garrisons in the al-Sweida Governorate.

Today’s advance on the Jordanian border by the Syrian military marks the first time they control the entire Sweida-Jordan border.

[AlMasdar] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and other pro-government forces have officially liberated some 1,300 square kilometers of territory in Syria’s Badia al-Sham region as a result of recent offensive operations across this battlespace.

The operation ‐ initiated about one week ago ‐ has served to severely undermine the strategic position of Free Syrian Army

Syrian Army launches offensive on ISIS inside Deir Ezzor city
[AlMasdar] Units of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) besieged inside the strategic city of Deir Ezzor have started offensive actions against occupying ISIS forces with the apparent objective of retaking the entire area from the terrorist group.

Yesterday, SAA troops clashed heavily with Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
Death Eaters inside Deir Ezzor city. Russia Today’s Ruptly group has released two minutes of footage showing this engagement.

The firefights seen in the video are said to be part of a series of localized operations inside Deir Ezzor by the SAA aimed at gradually ejecting ISIS bandidos faceless myrmidons from the city ‐ or at the very least putting additional pressure on them ‐ whilst long-awaited relieving forces push in from southern Raqqa and eastern Homs.

Despite being in a highly unfavorable strategic situation inside Deir Ezzor, the SAA has of late launched a series of successful tactical attacks against occupying ISIS Death Eaters inside the city area, taking ground in some cases.

ISIS sez 1,000 Kurdish fighters killed in Raqqa battle
[AlMasdar] Over 1,000 fighters of the US-backed, Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have been killed during engagements inside Raqqa city over the last two months according to an info-graphic released by ISIS propaganda.

According to the ISIS info-graphic (shown below), jihadist faceless myrmidons fighting inside Raqqa have inflicted losses of the SDF to the effect of:
  • 1,040 fighters killed (207 by sniper fire); and

  • 24 vehicles destroyed (6 damaged) including two Humvees, one bulldozer, three Toyota pickups, three BMPs, fourteen “other types” of vehicles and a drone.

Furthermore, ISIS claims that its forces carried out a total of 54 attacks on the SDF of which four were Inghimasis (shock troop) assaults, thiry-six were suicide missions and fourteen were "normal" engagements.

Realistically speaking, it is hard to believe that SDF manpower losses are actually as high as ISIS claims they are; more likely it is the case that SDF Raqqa battle-related deaths are around half to one-third of the number suggested in the jihadist info-graphic.

Theft and kidnapping ravages north Aleppo as Erdogan’s Syrian caliphate experiment fails
[AlMasdar] Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA) authorities in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
-occupied northern Aleppo have issued a statement banning their fighters from wearing balaclava face masks, threatening to sue forces of Evil who disobey the directive.

The statement has been issued in response to a theft and robbery epidemic that is plaguing the town of Jarabulus and its surrounding area (currently held by Turkey-backed hard boys); it is reported that such acts are constantly being carried out by men wearing masks (like the ones worn by rebels) who can never be identified.

This is yet another blow to the political validity of Erdogan’s Islamist protectorate in northern Syria and comes not longer after 500 al-Waer residents that originally opted exile in Turkey-occupied northern Aleppo later chose to return to government-held areas in Homs because the conditions were so depraved in the neo-Ottoman enclave.

This latest development offers good insight into the moral character of the "moderate" rebels under Ottoman Turkish military guidance.

To this end it can be understood that FSA forces of Evil serving in the Turkey-led rebel coalition are mercenaries (paid by the Ottoman Turkish foreign office) and many of them have strong jihadist leanings, believing in concepts of justifiable looting (including the kidnapping of humans, namely women) due to their self-perceived service in God’s name.

Syrian Army liberates entire city block from Islamist militants in east Damascus
Golly.
[AlMasdar] As the Jobar operation in eastern Damascus approaches its second month, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continues to slowly but surely pick its way through the maze Islamist defenses entrenched in the area, today achieving a noteworthy breakthrough.

The latest assault by the SAA comes after forty (40) Elephant rockets were delivered onto the positions of the Faylaq al-Rahman Islamist faction in the suburb of Ayn Tarma.

After this bombardment, SAA forces ‐ led by Elite Republican Guard’s 105th Brigade and 106th Brigade stormed rebel positions in southern Ayn Tarma rapidly securing a whole building block located north of the Sunbul fuel station.

This successful push by the SAA forced Faylaq al-Rahman bully boyz to retreat to the central area of Ayn Tarma after suffering ten casualties.

The Salafist tough guys nonetheless left behind one sniper to delay SAA advance units. The SAA managed to located the marksman and neutralize him.

Attacks by the SAA were also made on the Jobar axis today, however, after two separate assaults army forces failed to achieve any breakthrough; festivities are still ongoing.

ISIS plot to bomb airliner raises serious questions
[FoxNews] The most sophisticated terror plot ever attempted on Australian soil – to bring down an Etihad airline leaving Sydney airport – is now known to have been planned, directed and even supplied directly by ISIS.

Not only did the instructions for the attack come directly from commanders in the terror group – but the military-grade plastic explosives used to build the bomb were sent via airmail. They were shipped from Turkey to Australia by commercial air cargo, most probably in a passenger jet.

That high-grade explosives were so easily sent via airmail, halfway across the world will have alarm bells ringing in Western security agencies. Plastic explosives are hard to detect, but newer x-ray machines usually have the capacity to find them, raising questions about how were they disguised.

The original plot was disrupted by Australian security services on July 29, following a tip from a foreign intelligence service. The plotters, who have now been arrested and charged, were brothers Khaled and Mahmoud Khayat. It’s believed they were recruited by another brother, Tarek Khayat, who is an ISIS commander in Syria.

They received the explosives in Sydney along with other components needed to build the bomb, including detonators. Then, with instructions from an ISIS commander, put the device together.

The brothers put it in luggage and went to the airport, but for reasons that are unknown abandoned the plan before passing through security. It’s alleged they had placed the bomb in a third brother’s bag without his knowledge. Australian police claim the bomb would never have passed through airport security.

Instead, the brothers began working on a chemical-dispersion device to release hydrogen sulfide, a highly toxic gas.

The plot is clear evidence that ISIS is getting smarter about circumventing Western security – and, as they lose territory in Iraq and Syria, are looking at increasingly varied ways to attack Western targets – and recruit fighters.

5 die, 7 wounded in Donetsk fighting

Both sides of the civil war in southeast Ukraine reported five dead, seven wounded in ongoing fighting in Donetsk and Lugansk, according to Russian language news accounts.

Last Monday, Ukrainian military authorities reported one soldier dead from mortar fire in Marinka, which is south of Donetsk city. Bakiev had also used a messaging app widely used by ISIS sympathisers to appeal for 2,800 Ottoman Turkish Lira (£610) from other bully boyz to buy a drone, Adena police said.

During police interrogations, Bakiev admitted to previously having made an attempt to attack U.S. forces at the base, but that this had been unsuccessful.

...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
to accept North Korea as a nuclear power.

"History shows that we can, if we must, tolerate nuclear weapons in North Korea -- the same way we tolerated the far greater threat of thousands of Soviet nuclear weapons during the Cold War," she wrote in a New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
op-ed, criticizing the president’s "fire and fury" rhetoric in response to the escalating tensions between the two countries.

Rice urged Gen. John Kelly, White House chief of staff, to stop Trump, and she pointedly attacked Dr. Sebastian Gorka, the deputy assistant to the president.

"John Kelly, Mr. Trump’s chief of staff, must assert control over the White House, including his boss, and curb the Trump surrogates whipping up Cuban missile crisis fears," she wrote.

Rice complained that Trump’s rhetoric was "unprecedented and especially dangerous" and that America would have to be cautious about its response to Pyongyang.

She defended Obama’s actions in response to North Korea, insisting that his administration put them "on edge" by conducting joint military exercises with South Korea and introducing more economic sanctions.

Prof Says White Marble Artwork Contributes to White Supremacy
[LegalInsurrection] A University of Iowa professor recently argued that appreciation of "white marble" used in classical artwork contributes to "white supremacist ideas today."

Professor Sarah Bond demonstrates in an article published in Hyperallergic that "many of the statues, reliefs, and sarcophagi created in the ancient Western world were in fact painted," meaning the "white marble" often seen in such pieces of art were intended to be colored.

Consequently, Bond argues that "the equation of white marble with beauty is not an inherent truth of the universe," and is thus "a dangerous construct that continues to influence white supremacist ideas today."

Bond goes on to point out that "most museums and art history textbooks contain a predominantly neon white display of skin tone," which "has an impact on the way we view the antique world."

"The assemblage of neon whiteness serves to create a false idea of homogeneity -- everyone was very white! -- across the Mediterranean region," she adds, later stating that misconceptions of the classical era provide "further ammunition for white supremacists today, including groups like Identity Europa, who use classical statuary as a symbol of white male superiority."

"It may have taken just one classical statue to influence the false construction of race, but it will take many of us to tear it down," Bond concludes. "We have the power to return color to the ancient world, but it has to start with us."

Revealing details of Gaza tunnel-thwarting barrier, IDF says it could spark war
[IsraelTimes] Army warns Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", not to attack construction of underground protection system, says it will be built ’at any price’

The construction of Israel’s underground security barrier aimed at countering the Hamas terror group’s attack tunnels is picking up speed, the head of the IDF’s Southern Command said Wednesday, with hundreds of workers operating around the clock on the massive engineering project.

Maj. Gen. Eyal Zamir said the military was concerned that the construction on the barrier could spark a conflict with Hamas. The terror group sees its tunnels as a central weapon in the fight against Israel and the Defense Ministry’s barrier presents a threat to them.

“We hope they don’t try to challenge us,” he said.

Another military official said on Thursday that the army does not believe Hamas has any justification -- "ethical, moral or military" -- to prevent Israel from building a protective barrier. It will therefore not tolerate any attempts by the terror group to interfere with its construction, the official said.

Turkey limits border traffic at Syria crossing: Customs Minister
[AlAhram] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
will limit the movement of non-humanitarian goods at the Bab al-Hawa border crossing with Syria because the Syrian side is controlled by a "terrorist organization", Customs and Trade Minister Bulent Tufenkci said on Thursday.

Last month, Hayat Tahrir al Sham, a rebel alliance spearheaded by the former al Qaeda offshoot Nusra Front, took control of the border area and most of Idlib province in several days of heavy fighting with its main rival, Ahrar al-Sham
...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014...
"Until that group's control ends, or at least weakens, there will be tight control and slowing down of the passage of all products other than humanitarian aid and food," Tufenkci told Turkey's NTV channel.

"We have no imports from Syria, we only export. Therefore, we don't have any issues in that sense," he said, adding that the issue could be resolved in the next two weeks.

[THEGATEWAYPUNDIT] Mohammed Abed, a California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA) tenure-track professor of ethics, social & political philosophy, and classical Islamic philosophy believes that genocide of white racists is “morally required”.

Mohammed Abed claims that sometimes you just have to commit genocide to save the world from the evil people…like white racists.

One can certainly concoct a hypothetical scenario in which the deliberate annihilation of a group’s way of life is a “moral and political imperative.” And there may be a case for classifying as genocide campaigns of social destruction that are widely considered to be not only excusable but morally required. The institution of slavery in the American South was, arguably, a comprehensive way of life and worldview to which many whites were profoundly attached. It would not be wildly implausible to say that their investment in the culture and norms of the slave-owning community rivaled in its social meaning and significance an individual’s affiliation with a national or religious group. But because the kidnapping, enslavement, and lifelong exploitation of innocent human beings was a constitutive and thus ineliminable feature of the life led by many Southern whites, annihilating their way of life was a moral imperative. The right course of action was to strip them of an identity that gave meaning to their lives.
Ya know... in the Muslim world the institution of slavery is also, arguably, a worldview to which many Muslims are attached, despite startlingly recent laws forbidding it. By this argument the genocide of Muslims in those countries/regions where slavery is demonstrably practiced by those in a position to do so is morally required. Professor Abed describes himself as a Palestinian exile from the city of Jaffa, which suggests the possibility that he or his parents at some point lived among slaveowners.

Actually, it works very well for them. I remember a scientific article from the seventies which examined distribution of blood groups among Arab Egyptians relative to Copts on one side and Saudis on the other. Now guess to which group Arab Egyptians were closer?

#9  Seems the left throws around the word genocide pretty easily these days. We've come a long way from "Never Again" haven't we. Then again the left was probably crossing their fingers and making mental kill lists when they said "Never Again" in the aftermath of World War 2.

#10  Professor, communism, socialism, and national socialism are on the left side of the spectrum, not the right. It is from this side of the spectrum that most genocide has arisen. It seems, that more often than not, it is a product of statism where the state has too much centralized control.

Waqf says Israel didn’t damage any historic items on Temple Mount
The lie has already gone round the world, now truth has finally finished tying her running shoes.
[IsraelTimes] Nonetheless, a technical committee, formed during recent conflict over holy site, condemns what it calls ’unjustified searches’ by Israel.

The Jerusalem Waqf said on Wednesday that when Israeli security services conducted searches on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem following a shooting attack at the site, they did not damage or steal any historical items.

Israeli police closed down the Temple Mount on July 14 after three Arab Israelis smuggled guns into the compound and used them to shoot two coppers to death.

The shutdown lasted for two days while police investigated the incident. Israel then reopened the site with newly installed metal detectors and cameras -- security measures that led to two weeks of protests by Paleostinians. The measures were eventually removed.

The Waqf, a Jordanian government institution that administers the Temple Mount, known to Moslems as the Haram al-Sharif, convened a technical committee to evaluate any damage caused by the Israeli police during the crisis.

On Wednesday the committee released its report, which said that Israeli forces had not damaged or stolen any historical objects or documents at the site, which includes mosques, museums and libraries that house Islamic artifacts.

"There are no deficiencies of historical value in the safety boxes, inventory or exhibits," the report said.

However,
the way to a man's heart remains through his stomach...
the report did say Israel had rummaged through and possibly copied computer files and broken into private lockers in order to carry out what it called "unjustified searches."

During the searches Israeli police found several weapons, but no guns or serious explosives, Jerusalem Police Chief Yoram Halevi said.

"We found dozens of knives, slingshots, cudgels, spikes, inciting material, unwent kaboom! munitions, stun grenades, binoculars -- but we haven’t yet found caches of live ammunition," he told Army Radio at the time.

Syrian Kurds: 17 Indonesians Who Escaped IS Leave Syria
[AnNahar] A group of 17 Indonesians who had joined the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group in the northern Syrian city of Raqqa have been handed over to representatives of their country and have left Syria, a local Kurdish official and a spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

According to the official, Omar Alloush, the Indonesian nationals included men, women and kiddies. They were handed over on Tuesday at a Syria-Iraq border crossing. They had been asking to be sent back home, he said.

Spokeswoman Nisreen Abdullah from the Women's Protection Units also confirmed the handover. The identities of the Indonesians were not immediately available and Iraqi officials could not confirm the report.

Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, the director of Indonesian citizen protection at the country's foreign ministry, said there has been "communication between the Indonesian side with various parties that control the territory of Syria" including with the North Syrian Kurdish Authority linked to the 17 Indonesians.

He said the Indonesian government in its initial discussions obtained information that the group were not fighters, some had spent most of their time in Syria in IS jails or other isolated conditions, and had fled Raqqa with the help of a third party on June 10.

"Our communication with these parties is more directed to the humanitarian situation," Iqbal said, noting the family includes teenagers and three young children. "The security conditions in the area are so complex that the handling process cannot be done easily," he said.

Last month, an News Agency that Dare Not be Named team in Raqqa met with members of an Indonesian family of 17 and reported on their journey two years ago from Jakarta to Raqqa and their initial desire to live in the Islamic State group's self-proclaimed capital.

They also told the AP of how their dreams were crushed in the face of IS brutality and terror and how different the reality of life under IS was from the utopian dream of an Islamic society they had pursued.

The AP met the women and kiddies at a camp for the displaced run by the Kurdish forces just north of Raqqa, after they had managed to escape.

The AP also interviewed a male relative at a security center run by Kurdish forces in Kobani.

The incident took place on May 3rd, 2016 in broad daylight on Davis Road, Lahore where Khadija had gone to pick up her younger sister from school. Despite 23 gashes to her body, including the neck, she miraculously survived. Khadija courageously fought for justice and late last month, a court in Lahore sentenced her attacker, who happens to be son of an advocate, to seven years in prison. She sees her survival and legal victory as a chance to live a more meaningful life.

Pentagon deploys Mattis to Korean DMZ in massive show of force
Duffelblog
KOREAN DE-MILITARIZED ZONE — The Pentagon has deployed Defense Secretary Jim Mattis to the Korean de-militarized zone for a massive show of force against Pyongyang, sources confirmed today.

Flanked by a Navy SEAL Team as B-1B bombers flew overhead, a shirtless Mattis engaged in a rigorous workout as North Korean guards looked on. A number of guards expressed terror as the secretary knocked out 100 consecutive pushups while simultaneously singing Toby Keith’s “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue,” a senior defense official said.

The rapid deployment of Mattis to the region came after President Donald Trump promised “fire and fury” like the world had never seen in response to North Korean threats. Some speculated Trump’s remark was off-the-cuff bluster, but administration officials insisted that Mattis’ nickname of “Mad Dog” was changed to “Fire and Fury” late last month.

Although Mattis’ display of his 20-inch biceps and huge pecs are considered provocative, yet peaceful displays of power, officials privately warned he could at any moment unleash a knife hand and kill thousands.

Meanwhile, Kim Jong-un has challenged the US to a hot dog-eating contest, demanding that Trump send his best competitor and at least 4,000 hot dogs.

Special K and G-Had contributed reporting.

The "handgun chosen to be the U.S. Army's next generation handgun" is the M17—it is based on the P320 but has a different fire control unit and SIG's own press release basically says the voluntary upgrade for P320 owners is going to be some sort of retrofit of the M17 trigger unit into the P320. Hell, PM's headline blurb even says "the military version appears unaffected", so how did they allow that first sentence to make it into publication?

Eric Bolling initiates lawsuit against reporter behind sexting story
[POLITICO] Fox News host Eric Bolling has initiated a lawsuit against the news hound behind the report that led to his suspension.

Yashar Ali, a contributing writer for HuffPost, reported on Friday that several years ago Bolling sent lewd text messages that included photographs of male genitalia to two female colleagues at Fox. The next day Bolling was suspended and Fox launched an investigation by the same law firm that handled probes into the conduct of former host Bill O'Reilly and former Fox chairman Roger Ailes.

After the initial report, Bolling said, via his lawyer, that he "recalls no such inappropriate communications, does not believe he sent any such communications, and will vigorously pursue his legal remedies for any false and defamatory accusations that are made."

On Wednesday, Bolling filed a "summons with notice" in New York State Supreme Court against Ali, seeking $50 million in damages for defamation. Ali must respond within 20 days, demanding that Bolling file a complaint, after which Bolling will have 20 days to file his response before the suit goes forward.

"The nature of this action is for damages and injunctive relief based on defamation arising from the defendant’s efforts to injure the plaintiff’s reputation through the intentional and/or highly reckless publication of actionable false and misleading statements about the plaintiff’s conduct and character. As a result of the defendant’s actions, the plaintiff has been substantially harmed," the summons states.

Bolling is represented by Michael Bowe from the same law firm as Marc Kasowitz, who was President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
's personal attorney until last month.

"This anonymously sourced and uncorroborated story is false, defamatory, and obviously intended to destroy this good man's career and family. We will defend Eric aggressively in court, where actual facts, based on evidence, testimony, and cross-examination, will belie these anonymous accusations," Bowe said.

Ali told POLITICO he plans to fight the case.

"I stand by my reporting and will protect my sources, especially the victims, at all costs," Ali said in a statement.

#6  Eric Bolling has been suspended. An investigation will be conducted by law firm Paul Weiss. Washington Free Beacon reports:
The firm, Paul, Weiss, has long been tied to the Clinton family, with its employees donating hundreds of thousands to its political campaigns and later cashing in on political appointments in the government......A partner in the Paul, Weiss Litigation Department, Jeh Johnson is the former Secretary of Homeland Security. Secretary Johnson advises clients, including management teams and boards of directors, on crisis management, government and internal investigations, high-stakes litigation and regulatory matters, and legal aspects of cybersecurity and other security matters. His legal career has encompassed both private law practice and public service, including three Senate-confirmed presidential appointments.

So another set-up but if Bolling calls their bluff and takes this court, he can win if he has the finances to fight his accusers. Most settle before it gets very far. The female accusers identities are going to be demanded in court - and their entire sex life is going to be meticulously searched. Every email they've ever sent or received, every text message, every phone call will be subpoenaed. The reporter and/or the "sources" obviously did this for POLITICAL reasons and Fox News has been effectively dismantled since the Juniors took over.

Democrats Threaten Gov’t Shutdown To Block Border Wall
[BREITBART] Democrats are threatening to shutter many government agencies on October 1 unless President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
gives up his popular campaign promise to build the border wall against Mexico, according to Politico.

In response, Trump’s deputies are offering political compromises to Democrats, including a rise in domestic spending, says Politico:

The White House is pushing a deal on Capitol Hill to head off a government shutdown that would lift strict spending caps long opposed by Democrats in exchange for money for President Donald Trump’s border wall with Mexico, multiple sources said.

Marc Short, the White House’s director of legislative affairs, met with top staffers from both parties on the Senate Appropriations Committee last week to make a hard sell for the proposal, the sources said.

Short -- who said the border funding would be used for a "double fence" -- stressed that the White House is insisting on a down payment for construction this fall. Short also lobbied for a big budget increase for the Pentagon, another priority for Trump.

If Democrats block the spending plan, many government agencies will have to send their employees home. But national security agencies, and various aid programs, such as the Social Security program, would keep operating.

Iran drops two soccer stars from national team for playing against Israel’s Maccabi
[IsraelTimes] Iran drops midfield duo Haji Safi and Masoud Shojaei from the national team after they play in a soccer match against Maccabi Tel Aviv for their Greek club Panionios last week, the Iranian sports ministry says.

Deputy Sports Minister Mohammad Reza Davarzani says they could no longer wear the national shirt after they played against the Israeli club in the Europa League third qualifying round second leg in Greece.

"Shojaei and Haji Safi have no place in Iran’s national football team any more because they crossed the country’s red line," Davarzani tells state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
. "They have a financial contract with a club to be paid and play for that team, but to play with the representative of a loathsome regime... this is not acceptable for Iranian people."

The two players had refused to play in the away leg in Israel despite facing "pressure" and "financial fines" from their club, the sports ministry says. But they played in the second leg in Greece on August 4. Panionios lost 0-1 and 0-2 on aggregate.
Update from The Times of Israel at 9:25 a.m. EDT:
Thousands of Persian speakers take to social media to urge football umbrella FIFA to censure Iran’s own national team over the spat.

On Twitter, under the hashtag #NoBan4OurPlayers, a user under the handle of Ajib Zade wrote that "players should be free to choose who to play against."

But Vali Nasr, a well-known Iran-born Middle East analyst and scholar, argued the Iranian players were actually bound contractually to play against the Israeli athletes as part of their engagement for the Greek team, and therefore should not be punished by Iran. "Professional soccer players are not sovereign actors but employees of their clubs," he wrote on Twitter.

Mahbod Ba, a Twitter user described as a Tehran-based art scholar, was among thousands that tagged FIFA on the social network requesting it "ban the Iranian national team" in response to the ban imposed on the two soccer stars.

Gunmen kill Puntland Security Official in Bosaso

The reason behind the killing of Muse is unclear, as no group has yet grabbed credit for the attack against the official, which was the latest in series of liquidations in the town over the past days.

Egyptian police kill suspect in Minya Christian bus attack in shootout
[AlAhram] Egypt's interior ministry has announced that a man suspected of involvement in the deadly armed attack on Christian pilgrims in Minya in May was killed during a police shootout.

A statement published on the ministry's official Facebook page announced that the suspect was killed on Wednesday night during a shootout with police forces in the hilly area of Qena governorate in Upper Egypt.

In May, gunnies attacked buses carrying Coptic Christians to a monastery in Minya governorate. Thirty people were killed and at least 21 injured.

The suspect is a member of a terrorist cell that was involved in the attacks on the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Cairo last December, the Palm Sunday attacks on churches in Tanta and Alexandria, an attack on El-Nakab checkpoint in Wadi Gadid in January, as well as the Minya attack on pilgrims, the statement said.
Possibly the above was a preliminary report, followed by the below:

terror group, which has claimed attacks that have killed more than 100 Copts since December.

The shootout occurred after a suspected jihadist, who had previously been detained, guided police to an alleged hideout in Qena, the ministry said in a statement.

"As soon as the security forces reached the location, the terrorist elements suddenly opened fire using all types of weapons, which forced them to retaliate," it said.

The shootout led to the killing of the detained suspect, a policeman who was guarding him, and two other suspected jihadists, the ministry said.

At the hideout, police found weapons and "gold jewellery which was probably stolen from some of the Christian victims" of a previous attack.

[IsraelTimes] A French appeals court on Tuesday increases the sentence against a farmer who has made a point of helping migrants cross the border from Italy, but stops short of jailing him. Jaafar, shu fi? Germany has a problem: frustrated young refugees
7 August
[DW] The hostel residents had warned repeatedly about Ahmad A., but nothing was done. Now they feel misunderstood and distrust the authorities. It's an alarming development.

Many refugees thought that after two years everything would be fine: language, apartment, work, family reunification. That idea has since been crushed. The processing by the authorities is still dragging on. Some of them still don't have a residence permit. They're struggling with the German language. The German course teaches them the basics, but in order to speak really well they need to have contact with native speakers and practise a lot. Finding an apartment is not easy, even for German citizens. In some cities, getting an appointment with the authorities is like winning the lottery, and the processing takes ages. At the same time, with every passing day their fears grow for their families back home. Many don't know what their lives will be like in six months' time.

It's an alarming development when many young people feel they've been abandoned. The state must take care not to lose these people. Many feel they aren't getting enough support. They have no prospects, but they're looking for something to hold on to. Things happen that we don't see and are no longer doing anything about. Groups form according to nationality (Afghans against Arabs) or political allegiance (for/against Assad in Syria). We pay no attention to these conflicts until they result in altercations and violence. We used to see photos from the LaGeSo [State Office for Health and Social Affairs] in Berlin; pictures of crowds of people, waiting. We were outraged. Now these people have become invisible, yet many are still living in refugee hostels.

Jihadist: Hamas Arrests Islamic State-Affiliated Suspects After Rocket Fire on Israel
[Breitbart] Hamas security forces arrested dozens of jihadists affiliated with Islamic State ideology in wake of rocket fire from Gazoo into Israel on Tuesday evening, a senior jihadist told Breitbart Jerusalem.

According to Gazoo-based jihadist Abou Baker al-Maqdesi, Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, began a widespread operation since yesterday to arrest jihadists, mostly those who identify with the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
. Maqdisi said that some of those tossed in the calaboose
You have the right to remain silent...
were released from Hamas prisons in the past few weeks after serving months-long sentences together with hundreds of jihadist prisoners.

One terror rocket was fired Tuesday from the Hamas-controlled Gazoo toward the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council. No damage was caused in the incident, which sparked the wave of arrests.

The Israeli air force responded to the rocket fire by striking Hamas positions in Gazoo. According to the Paleostinians, the Israeli air force struck one position in western Gazoo City and another in the north of the Strip. Both positions belonged to the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the so-called military wing of Hamas.

Hamas-affiliated media claimed that three people were maimed in the Israeli Arclight airstrikes.

According to al-Maqdesi, the arrests carried out by Hamas began immediately after the rocket fire and before the Israeli retaliation. However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
the jihadist refused to identify or give any personal details regarding those purportedly arrested or their precise number. al-Maqdesi added that Hamas security forces increased deployment along the border with Israel after the rocket fire in order to prevent any further launches.

Hundreds of IS-affiliated jihadists are said to be imprisoned in Hamas facilities as part of the contention between Hamas and the jihadists and Hamas’ efforts to improve relations with Egypt, feeding tensions between Hamas and IS fighters in Sinai.

As the arrests continued, Hamas condemned the Israeli strikes in Gazoo.

Hamas front man Fawzi Barhoum said, "The Gazoo Strip won’t continue to be a testing ground for Israeli weapons," and claimed that Israel "bears responsibility for the attacks and their implications."

Barhoum’s comment about Israeli responsibility came in response to reports in the Gazoo Strip that the Israeli planes that struck in Gazoo were brand-new F-35s Israel recently received from the U.S. The Israeli army did not specify in its statements which aircraft had been deployed in the strikes.

Political Peroxide
[THECUT] Blonde hair is at least 11,000 years old. The variety we’re now most familiar with began as a genetic mutation in northern Europe, where the sun is weak: Light hair allows more vitamin D to trickle in through the scalp, the theory goes, which is useful when the sky is cold and dark. It wasn’t the first hair color that people had, so it was rare, and its being rare made it sexually desirable, and its being sexually desirable meant it spread, and then there was a bit more of it.

Fox News and Donald Trump have given blonde hair a new chapter: Now, blonde is the color of the right, for whom whiteness has become a hallmark. Over the past decade or so, as inclusiveness became the hallmark of Obama-era liberals, the left found feminist icons in Rachel Maddow, Samantha Power, and Michelle Obama, who make no apologies for their failure to fit traditional ideals. But #MAGA, Fox News America is a place where all the classic signifiers of privilege and wealth work on overdrive: country-club-issue blue blazers with brass buttons and khaki pants, and above all else, for women, that yellow-blonde, carefully tended hair — a dog whistle of whiteness, an unspoken declaration of values, a wink-wink to the power of racial privilege and to the 1980s vibe that pervades a movement led by a man who still believes in the guilt of the Central Park Five. During that Republican Preppy Handbook era, when Dynasty and Dallas were on TV, the type of conspicuous ostentation that would lead a real-estate developer to sheath his entire apartment in gold leaf was actually in vogue. Look at the movies: Jake’s girlfriend in Sixteen Candles with the lush swoop of thick, blonde locks that ended up stuck in a door (losing the boyfriend to a redhead of all things meant, literally, losing that luscious hair). Johnny, the villain of the Karate Kid films, had a decisive swoosh of blond hair that obscured his headband. We knew, the moment we saw that hair, that small, ethnic Daniel was up against more than another teenager, he was up against privilege itself.

Minnesota Rep. Jason Lewis calls protest at his Twin Cities home dangerous
[STARTRIBUNE] Minnesota Rep. Jason Lewis is taking issue with protesters who showed up outside of his home.

The Wednesday morning protest at the first-term Republican congressman's suburban house was organized by Take Action Minnesota, a liberal advocacy group. Video footage posted on Lewis' Facebook page shows more than a dozen protesters chanting outside a home before delivering a large letter calling on Lewis to oppose cuts to Medicaid funding.

Lewis is a former conservative radio talk show host who won the 2nd Congressional District seat this fall. He called the protest a violation of his private property and "dangerous ramping up of rhetoric" that targeted his family.

A spokeswoman from Take Action Minnesota says Lewis should simply hold a town hall to meet with constituents who want to speak with him.

School letter says AP and Honors classes will be decided by race
[FOXNEWS] A Virginia high school sent a disturbing letter to parents and students announcing they would be selecting students for Advanced Placement and honors classes at least partly based on skin color, a concerned parent told Fox News.

Martin Luther King, Jr. must be turning over in his grave.

A parent forwarded me a copy of the letter sent from John Handley High School in Winchester.

"Through our collective work, advanced classes such as AP and Honors will have proportional representation," read the letter. "Proportional representation is 40% White, 35% Hispanic, 12% African American, 10% mixed race."

The letter went on to explain that public schools across the country "continue to see outcomes that are disproportionate by race and social class."

India trying to convert Kashmir into a Muslim minority region: FO
[DAWN] Condemning Indian atrocities in India-held Kashmire, the Foreign Office (FO) on Thursday alleged that India was trying to convert the region into a Moslem minority region.

"Indian forces are committing crimes against humanity which have resulted in the deaths of 15 innocent people in the past week," FO spokesperson Nafees Zakaria stated in the weekly briefing.

India is in grave violation of the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
Security Council Resolution on Jammu & Kashmire, UN Charter on Human Rights, said Zakaria.

Earlier this week, the Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P. Singh was also summoned over ceasefire violations by India.

Zakaria, on Thursday, appreciated the arrival of the speaker of the South Korean National Assembly, Chung Sye-Kyun, who met the incumbent Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif and "expressed keen interest in Korean investments in Pakistain and deepening economic cooperation."

The spokesperson condemned Wednesday's kaboom in Dir which led to four army personnel being martyred.

Most recently, Schultz came under fire for employing Imran Awan, an IT staffer who has been under federal investigation since February for an equipment and data scam in the House. Schultz had only fired him when he attempted to flee the U.S. to his native Pakistain.

Awan was fired by Schultz six months after two dozen House Democrats fired four of his relatives and one friend who were all under investigation with him.

Schultz dismissed the negative media attention about Awan, claiming she was the victim of a "right wing media" attack. She said the attack was a result of anti-Moslem bigotry towards Awan and his family.

Schultz's response to the Awan scandal upset members of the DNC.

HRW: Iraq arrests lawyers defending Islamic State suspects
[Iraq News] Iraqi authorities have issued arrest warrants since July 24th for 15 private lawyers whom they accuse of working in the past as judges at courts run by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said Thursday.

The organization said that the suspected lawyers represented Islamic State members before official Iraqi courts. "While lawyers are not immune from prosecution if they engage in criminal activity, they should not be prosecuted for doing their job as lawyers, nor should the authorities associate them with their clients’ cause simply because they represented them," a report by the organization said, saying that the situation arouses fears that authorities were intimidating the lawyers to repel them from representing IS suspects.

"The authorities should immediately explain why they are detaining and charging these lawyers," said Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East director at Human Rights Watch. "They need to make it clear that Iraqi lawyers should not be afraid to defend ISIS suspects."

HRW said a senior judge told its workers on August 5th that his court had gathered evidence, including witness testimony, that the 15 defense lawyers had worked as lawyers in IS courts in djinn-infested Mosul
