The New Mexico Muslim Terror Cell Case Keeps Getting Weirder
[OPSLENS] First, law enforcement searching for a kidnapped child discovers a terror training camp for children in the middle of New Mexico. Then, the remains of the kidnapped child they were searching for were found buried on the compound. The child allegedly died after a "religious ceremony" to cast out demons. And after all of this, a judge releases the men because she said they "weren’t a threat." Now the compound is being bulldozed. What exactly is going on in New Mexico?

Earlier this month, law enforcement agencies looking for a kidnapped three-year-old child raided a New Mexico compound linked to "extremist Muslims" and discovered a filthy training camp built out of trash in which starving children ranging from 1 to 15 years of age, with no fresh water, shoes, or even access to basic hygiene items were reportedly being trained to conduct school shootings. Five people were arrested and eleven children were rescued from the equally vile and violent Third World-conditions of the camp. Unfortunately, the missing child, young Abdul-Ghani Wahhaj, was not among the children rescued. What police instead found was something out of a horror movie.

Siraj Ibn Wahhaj is accused of kidnapping his son in Clayton County, Georgia in December of 2017. The three-year-old child had been diagnosed with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy which rendered him unable to walk, prone to seizures, and in need of constant medical care. According to one of the children rescued by police, Abdul-Ghani Wahhaj had been denied his medication and had died in February during a botched "exorcism."

When the compound was raided, Wahhaj was "heavily armed" and had been teaching the children tactical techniques in order to conduct terror attacks on schools and other "soft targets." In addition to Wahhaj, the mothers of the malnourished children were also arrested, as was Wahhaj’s brother-in-law, Lucas Morton.

Manafort Jury May Be Deadlocked

#1  WIKI: A hung jury or deadlocked jury is a judicial jury that cannot agree upon a verdict after extended deliberation and is unable to reach the required unanimity or supermajority.

This situation can occur only in common law legal systems, because civil law systems either do not use juries at all or provide that the defendant is automatically acquitted if the majority or supermajority required for conviction is not reached during a single, solemn vote.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Israel mocks Iran’s ‘indigenous’ fighter jet as copy of obsolete F-5
Vaporware? Responding to yesterday’s announcement. Photos of the thing can be seen at the link.
[IsraelTimes] Iranian media praises Kowsar's 'advanced avionics'; defense minister says it is an answer to threats from Israel, US.

Iran unveiled the fighter jet at a defense show in Tehran on Tuesday, calling the Kowsar a "fourth-generation" fighter, with "advanced avionics" and multi-purpose radar, the Iranian news agency Tasnim said, adding that it was "100-percent indigenously made."

But analysts quickly noted similarities between the plane and the F-5 fighter jet, made by Northrop-Grumman in the 1950s.

The F-5 was sold to Iran in the 1960s and first entered operation in the Iranian Imperial Air Force in 1965. In the West the F-5 line of jets is largely used for training purposes.

Iran has already used the F-5 platform ‐ and, some observers suggest, actual parts from its aging fleet of non-flying F-5s ‐ to develop its newer jets.

The Saeqeh, first flown in 2004, was one such plane.

The suspicions follow the much-derided unveiling in 2013 of an apparently fake previous "first" domestic fighter jet, the Qaher F-313, which was determined by numerous Western experts to have been a plastic model of a plane too small to fly.

State TV said the Kowsar had already been through successful testing and showed it waiting on a runway for its first public display flight, though live footage of the flight stopped before the plane took off.

Warrant confirms man detained while on way to hospital with pregnant wife is wanted for murder in Mexico
This story got tons of sob-story airplay this weekend, even after the murder charge was released. CBS8 in San Diego totally blew it on this. Bottom line: Murder warrant in Ol' Messico, he and wife are illegal, 5 anchor babies, and scheduled caesarean for their 6th. SPIT
[San Diego Union Tribune] An immigrant in the U.S. illegally who was detained by federal officers in San Bernardino last week while heading to the hospital with his pregnant wife is one of three men listed in an arrest warrant for a 2006 murder in Mexico.

Joel Arrona-Lara is wanted in connection with the killing of Miguel Ángel Morales Rodríguez, alias "El Garcia," according to the arrest warrant, which was provided by a law enforcement official who is not authorized to speak publicly about the case.

The warrant includes photos of Arrona-Lara, as well as his wife’s name and those of his parents. The other two men listed in the warrant are Julio Cesar Arrona-Lara, alias "El Chikis," and Roberto Arrona-Lara, alias "El Rigo."

All men share identical surnames, but their relationship is unclear.

The warrant did not detail the circumstances behind the murder, but a 2014 news release from the Guanajuato attorney general's office said an arrest warrant had been issued for Julio Cesar Arrona-Lara in connection to a 2006 homicide. It accused Julio Arrona-Lara of beating Rodríguez on March 17, 2006. The man later died from his injuries.

It is unclear what role the other two men, including Joel Arrona-Lara, might have played.

Officers with Immigrant and Customs Enforcement’s Fugitive Operations team in Los Angeles received the request for collaboration and assistance in Arrona-Lara’s arrest from Guanajuato’s attorney general on July 24, according to the agency.

Emilio Amaya Garcia, Arrona-Lara’s legal representative, said that in interviews with Arrona-Lara, he denied being involved in any problems in Mexico.

"It seems like there are members of his family who were, but he said he was never arrested or detained," Garcia said. "He doesn’t know of a reason why he would have an arrest warrant in Mexico."

Joel Arrona-Lara was heading to the hospital with his wife, Maria del Carmen Venegas, on Wednesday for her scheduled caesarean section when he was apprehended by Immigration and Custom Enforcement agents.

Security video obtained by KCBS-TV shows two SUVs blocking the couple’s vehicle as they tried to park at a gas station Wednesday. Venegas said ICE agents emerged from the vehicles and asked for their identification. She pulled out her ID, but her husband said he had left his at home.

Venegas told KCBS that agents asked her husband to exit the vehicle. They searched the car for weapons, and the video shows two agents alongside Arrona-Lara with his hands cuffed behind his back.

Abortion-Industry Backed California Lawmakers Set to Turn Universities into Abortion Vendors
[Breitbart] California lawmakers ‐ many whose electoral campaigns have been financially backed by the abortion industry ‐ are poised to turn state universities into abortion vendors.

State Senate Bill 320 ‐ a measure that would mandate all University of California and California State University campus health centers to distribute the drug that induces abortion in campus health centers ‐ is being debated Monday in Sacramento.

Introduced by state Sen. Connie Leyva (D) in February 2017, the bill is based on the notion that abortion is the equivalent of medical care and "is a constitutional right and an integral part of comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care."

In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court created a right to abortion ‐ though none ever existed in the Constitution ‐ in the case of Roe v. Wade.

However, many warn the state could be opening itself up to major complications for both students and the university system.

#4  A right (the restriction of the state to stop someone) to an abortion doesn't have to be in the constitution.

However an entitlement (taxpayer's obligated to subsidise) to something should be specifically enumerated.

Newsroom commando Ralph Peters cashiers self
I put it in "Seedy Politicians" because we don't have a heading for all who feed at DC trough
[AmericanThinker] Cashiering is a historical military ritual in which an officer who has betrayed his oath or failed in his duty is required to stand before the assembled troops and have all symbols of rank and service stripped from his uniform, to demonstrate most forcefully the disgrace he has brought upon himself and possibly them. His cap is knocked off and crushed underfoot; epaulettes or shoulder boards are ripped from his tunic; brass buttons are cut away; all medals, awards, and symbols of rank and past service are torn off and dropped in the dirt; and finally, his formal sword is broken over the knee of a fellow officer, with the two pieces scornfully cast at the disgraced officer's feet. It is a rite of personal and professional degradation, purposely intended to convey as much contempt and evoke as much shame as possible, to deter other officers from bringing such dishonor upon themselves and their services.

This weekend, retired lieutenant colonel Ralph Peters went on CNN's dubiously titled Reliable Sources and, in the presence of the show's serially unreliable host, Brian Stelter, and all those unfortunate souls in airport waiting areas across the nation being force-fed this liberal Sunday-morning drivel, cashiered himself. It appears that fulminating Trump Derangement Syndrome brought this former Fox News military analyst to perform this sad ceremony.

To his credit, he did a bang-up job of it.

...Except for a few former senior officers fearful of losing their monetized security clearances with the cushy sinecures in corporate boardrooms and network greenrooms those bring, this loose-lipped, self-cashiered light colonel is most likely going to find his newly chosen political parade ground a lonely place indeed. As Peters's disloyal diatribe gets around the military community he has so scurrilously slandered, he soon may wish that he had performed an additional historical military ritual: seppuku, the Japanese face-saving rite of self-disembowelment.

The Untouchables vs. The Deplorables
h/t Instapundit
...A poll taken several months before the election revealed that neglected voters overwhelmingly favored Donald Trump above any other candidate: "Voters who agreed with the statement ’people like me don’t have any say about what the government does’ were 86.5 percent more likely to prefer Trump. This feeling of powerlessness and voicelessness was a much better predictor of Trump support than age, race, college attainment, [or] income," wrote Derek Thompson at The Atlantic.

...Trump violates every sycophantic, mannerly rule that politicians and their handlers are taught to follow. The name-calling, the gloating, the fight-picking are precisely what any political consultant would advise their client not to do. "Act presidential," the memo would say. Let others do your dirty work. Stay above the fray, don’t get in the mud. Keep on message. Politics is a game of addition, not subtraction. Yada yada yada. (Let’s add "Political Consulting Experts" to the long list of professional know-it-alls who’ve been wholly discredited in the Trump era.)

...Nearly two years later, the war between The Untouchables and The Deplorables rages on. Last week featured several more clashes, proving again that the president’s opposition remains stunningly and stubbornly tone-deaf. (As Peggy Noonan wrote last year, Trump has been lucky in his enemies.) The Untouchables brandished their revoked security clearances and their opinion pages and their GoFundMe campaigns as the latest weapons against a president they intend to destroy.

But instead of taking it on the chin, these martyrs of #TheResistance embrace their victimhood. They caterwaul about imaginary constitutional rights violations not because it’s legitimate but because their self-enacted 28th Amendment right‐the Right to Infinite and Unchecked Power‐is being trampled.

...More than 300 newspapers published editorials last week to defend themselves against Trump’s "attacks" on the media.

...The media can’t answer legitimate criticism because they have long been in The Untouchables group, self-proclaimed warriors of the truth regardless of how untruthful they actually are. In their desire for self-efficacy, reporters have compared themselves to first responders and combat veterans. The real-life woes of The Deplorables are ignored‐even mocked‐as journalists preen about their moral superiority. But Trump has exposed their duplicity and their arrogance; it’s making them nuts. They now lash out at any imaginary threat against themselves while fueling violence and political chaos among Americans on a daily basis.

Trump’s one-man crusade against The Untouchables is working. Regular Americans see this crowd’s shameless sense of entitlement and their resentment for anyone outside their circle. Their hatred for Trump is just an extension of their hatred for those he is defending. That’s why Trump will continue to fill up school auditoriums in the Midwest while The Untouchables will continue to fill up their columns with whining.

Journalist investigating Bill Clinton's sex crimes found dead in hotel room
[True Pundit via INTELHUB] Investigative Journalist Jen Moore was found dead in a suburban Washington D.C. hotel room Monday, according to police and shocked and distraught friends and colleagues.

Moore died of an apparent seizure. Police are closely investigating the cause of death in Prince Georges County, Maryland. Preliminary reports from police said the death was not the result of suicide.

Moore’s body was found by employees at the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Washington, D.C. East – in Capitol Heights, Maryland. The investigation is ongoing. An autopsy had not been scheduled as of late Monday.

Moore, an advocate who investigated abused and trafficked children, had been in the process of investigating allegations by a 26-year-old man that — as a young boy — he was sexually assaulted by Bill Clinton and pimped out at private sex parties attended by other D.C. elites.

In fact, just four weeks before her death, Moore filed details of the alleged victim’s claims with the Department of Homeland Security, detailing the allegations against Clinton. Moore contacted Homeland Security beginning on July 6th through July 9th, records show. A week later, she contacted the FBI with identical details about the victim and the shocking allegations against Clinton.

FBI sources report no case has been opened on the evidence supplied by Moore. Homeland Security officials could not be reached for comment.

Moore had approached True Pundit’s Thomas Paine in June with the allegations against Clinton. Paine conducted a series of face-to-face interviews with Moore and the alleged victim in various locales. By July, the victim agreed to tell his story to Paine. But Moore and the traumatized victim wanted to contact Homeland Security and the FBI first to see if they would open a criminal case against Clinton prior to publicizing the claims.

“Jen thought that with a criminal probe, federal agents could use the victim possibly to dangle in front of Clinton to see if he made a mistake or tried to pay him off,” Paine said. “She was worried about the safety of the victim and was working to find him safe harbor until this story broke.

Now she is the one who turned up dead.”

Paine and True Pundit were vetting the details provided by the victim. Paine said the allegations were “credible” and the victim’s testimony and details were beyond convincing.

Paine said Moore accepted the risks with the story and understood things could get very ugly very fast. Per conversations with True Pundit’s Paine:

“She was worried about the victim because he was the first to break the ice,” Paine said. “There were others waiting to tell their stories but he was the catalyst.

Did she think she could be harmed? Absolutely. This woman was fearless. Absolute warrior. A former cop. I don’t think she was afraid of anyone or anything.”

According to interviews, the victim in this case claimed he was sexually assaulted by Clinton on a yacht in New England and knows the identities of several other child victims who were subjected to identical abuses. The victim also confirmed he witnessed other children and people being sexually and physically abused and possibly worse on numerous “boat parties.” These parties were attended by elite members of D.C. political class, according to Moore and the victim.

Both young boys and young girls, the victim said.

Moore supplied these details to federal agents and documented the interactions with a number of alleged victims. Within a month, she is dead.

In one exchange, Moore discussed an extended stay with the alleged Clinton victim after his interview with Paine. During the interview, the victim sporadically vomited and shivered as he recalled details of his alleged abuse, Paine said.

Citizen Announces He's Running Against Corrupt Sheriff, His Home is Raided, Wife Kidnapped
h/t Gates of Vienna
[BlacklistedNews] ...On August 10, Robert Hawes, a former deputy with the Clayton County sheriff’s department, announced that he would be running against the incumbent Sheriff Victor Hill. Days later police would be in his home, kidnapping his wife.

...After Hawes announced his desires to seek Hill’s job, Hawes says that’s when Hill went on the offensive, sending out emails disparaged Hawes’ sons, accusing them of stealing their father’s department-issued gun in 2014 and selling it at a pawn shop. Hawes said the accusation is untrue.

"I bet you if we did an open records request of the emails that came from the sheriff, there would be some nasty threats from him," he said. "The only reason he is doing what he is doing is because I said I was running for sheriff."

When they heard of the false claims against, Gerrian Hawes, Robert’s wife, emailed the sheriff and said, "Where there is love, fear cannot exist."

For this, deputies were sent to their home to arrest Gerrian for making threats to the sheriff.
And here you thought it's only CIA & FBI who act this way

Firefighters extinguish blaze sparked by Gaza balloon

IDF opens fire on shooting terrorist in Gaza
[Ynet] As talks stall on long-term ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",, fresh skirmish occurs on the Gazoo border, with troops returning fire in northern strip; IDF says terrorist was hit, no injuries or damage caused to Israeli side; exchange of fire comes day after incendiary balloons cause fires in south Israel.

The IDF opened fire on a terrorist on Monday morning after he shot live rounds in their direction in the northern Gazoo Strip.

No injuries among the Israeli troops were reported, according to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, but the forces of Evil was said to have been hit as the army looked into whether other forces of Evil were at the scene.

The incident took place against a background of a possible ceasefire between Israel and Hamas to put an end to months of violence on the border, characterized by rocket attacks, Israeli tank and air strike retaliations and the launching of incendiary kites and balloons from the strip.

As delays were said to have temporarily stymied what was reported at the end of last week to be an imminent ceasefire, incendiary devices continued to fall on Israeli communities surrounding Gazoo, causing three fires to erupt on Sunday.

On Sunday morning, a fire broke out in the Erez Forest, burning a relatively small patch of land as thousands of acres of landscape have already been scorched by the primitive weapon that has so far prove unstoppable.

The same afternoon, an incendiary balloon landed near Kibbutz Be’eri and sparked a fire. Shortly after, another balloon landed and caused a fire in Be’eri Forest. In all instances, the flames were brought under control by firefighters and security forces in the towns.

Israel partially closed the Erez border crossing in the Gazoo Strip on Sunday morning in response to violent demonstrations staged by the residents over the weekend, and following a delay in the reaching of the expected ceasefire agreement with Hamas.

Israel made the decision to close the crossing located on the northern tip of the Gazoo Strip in retaliation for a weekly March of Return demonstration on Friday afternoon that descended into violence on the border, during which the rioters threw Molotov Cocktails, improvised bombs and in which two Paleostinians were killed.

The crossing will be reopened at times on humanitarian grounds.

The closure is a symbolic move by Jerusalem since the Erez Crossing is used by few Paleostinians. Those who do use the crossing do so with official authorization on humanitarian grounds, mainly belonging to aid organizations.

Regional Cooperation Minister Tzachi Hanegbi said Sunday that the closure of the Erez border crossing to Gazoo was intended to be a "yellow card" warning to Hamas, after Paleostinians staged violent protests on the Gazoo border at the beginning of the weekend.

"It appears Hamas has begun recalculating its direction after a long period of rocket firing and terrorism. It's not enough, but if that's the direction they're going, we hope it'll become more prominent," Hanegbi said in an exclusive interview with Ynet.

Hamas: We Won't Disarm As Part Of Any Truce With Israel
Unexpectedly.
[Jpost] Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, said on Monday that it will not lay down its weapons or "pay any political price" as part of any cease-fire agreement with Israel.

Hizbullah Denies Having 'Secret Prisons' in Dahiyeh
[AnNahar] Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
has denied reports accusing it of running "secret prisons" in its stronghold in Beirut's southern suburbs.

"Certainly Hizbullah does not have any prisons," al-Jadeed television quoted Hizbullah's media department as saying.

"Those who wish can go in person to inspect the commercial institutions and other places" which have been described as sites for Hizbullah's alleged prisons, the department added.

"This is part of a campaign that targets Hizbullah every now and then, especially on social networking websites before reaching media outlets," Hizbullah's media department went on to say.

The rebuttal comes after the young man Ali Mazloum, who identified himself on Facebook as the son of "Hizbullah martyr leader Hussein Mazloum", posted pictures of shops and other sites allegedly containing secret Hizbullah prisons.

Mazloum also announced that he had been held in one of the alleged prisons, which he described as being worse than "the prisons of the Israeli enemy."

He also claimed that "prisoners" are subjected to "beatings and torture with all the physical and psychological methods including food deprivation."

His allegations were picked up by several media outlets including Saudi-owned al-Arabiya television.

Miami Herald endorses House candidate who claims aliens took her aboard a spaceship
[THEHILL] The Miami Herald is endorsing a congressional candidate who claims to have communicated with aliens throughout her life and says extraterrestrials once visited her.

The newspaper on Sunday endorsed Bettina Rodriguez Aguilera, who is running as a Republican for Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen’s (R-Fla.) seat in the Republican primary for Florida’s 27th Congressional District. The newspaper called her “a strong candidate in the race with plausible conservative ideas.”

Rodriguez Aguilera said in a 2009 television interview that she boarded a spaceship occupied by aliens when she was 7.

“I went in. There were some round seats that were there, and some quartz rocks that controlled the ship — not like airplanes,” Rodriguez said in the interview. She said she was visited by three large, blonde beings.

In a separate interview with the Herald last year, she said she joins “the majority of Americans who believe that there must be intelligent life in the billions of planets and galaxies in the universe.”

The newspaper’s editorial board acknowledged in its endorsement that Rodriguez Aguilera “is an unusual candidate,” but agreed with her assessment that her past comments about aliens aren’t an issue in the race.

“Her bona fides as a former elected official, and now a businesswoman who spends time in other countries training women to run for office are solid,” the editorial board wrote.

The world's biggest plane The Stratolaunch inches closer to takeoff
[Mail] The world's largest plane, Stratolaunch, could be just months away from its first flight.

The aircraft - which is the vision of Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen - has a wingspan longer than a football field and comes equipped with two cockpits, 28 wheels and six engines normally used to power 747 jumbo jets.

Eventually will be used to transport rockets carrying satellites and even a newly revealed manned space plane into the Earth's upper atmosphere, where they will blast off into space.

Now, Allen has said it will finally take the the skies 'this fall'.

Woman walking dog killed when alligator attacks
[FOXNEWS] A woman walking her dog was killed Monday morning when an alligator attacked her and dragged her into a lagoon in South Carolina, police said.

Beaufort County Sheriff's Office received a call around 9:30 a.m. about a possible alligator attack near a lagoon in Sea Pines Plantation, a resort community at Hilton Head Island. Officers arrived and discovered the woman’s body inside the lagoon.

According to witnesses, the unidentified woman was walking her dog when an alligator, about 8 feet long, "attacked and pulled" her into the water. Security staff also viewed surveillance video of the attack, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources spokesman Capt. Robert McCullough told The Post and Courier.

Authorities are at the lagoon searching for the alligator.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the woman’s cause of death. Her dog was not harmed.

Sea Pines Living posted on its Facebook page to confirm the woman’s death.

“Sea Pines CSA is actively working with local authorities to ensure necessary access to the site while the investigation is underway. At this time, little information is available about the individual or incident. We are extremely saddened by this news and will share information with the community as it is made available,” the post read.

McCullough said the woman was the second person to die from an alligator attack in South Carolina history.

So the man immediately sets up a fight between the two dogs.

In the ring the two dogs are thrown in and the man's dog growls and starts to bite the other dog with its massive teeth for the terrier to flick itself around and snap the neck of the dog and then devour it whole!

True to his word the man counts out the grand and hands it over saying “just what type of Terrier is that?”

Fifth Column
Memo Reveals Soros-Funded Social-Media Censorship Plan
[WND] The recent wave of censorship of conservative voices on the internet by tech giants Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Apple mirrors a plan concocted by a coalition of George Soros-funded, progressive groups to take back power in Washington from President Trump’s administration.

A confidential, 49-page memo for defeating Trump by working with the major social-media platforms to eliminate “right wing propaganda and fake news” was presented in January 2017 by Media Matters founder David Brock at a retreat in Florida with about 100 donors, the Washington Free Beacon reported at the time.

On Monday, the Gateway Pundit blog noted the memo’s relationship with recent moves by Silicon Valley tech giants to “shadow ban” conservative political candidates and pundits and remove content.

The Free Beacon obtained a copy of the memo, “Democracy Matters: Strategic Plan for Action,” by attending the retreat.

The memo spells out a four-year agenda that deployed Media Matters along with American Bridge, Shareblue and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) to attack Trump and Republicans. The strategies are impeachment, expanding Media Matters’ mission to combat “government misinformation,” ensuring Democratic control of the Senate in the 2018 midterm elections, filing lawsuits against the Trump administration, monetizing political advocacy, using a “digital attacker” to delegitimize Trump’s presidency and damage Republicans, and partnering with Facebook to combat “fake news.”

QUASHING ‘FAKE NEWS’ WITH ‘MATHEMATICAL PRECISION’

The Free Beacon in its January 2017 story said Brock sought to raise $40 million in 2017 for his organizations.

The document claims Media Matters and far-left groups have “access to raw data from Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites” so they can “systemically monitor and analyze this unfiltered data.”

“The earlier we can identify a fake news story, the more effectively we can quash it,” the memo states. “With this new technology at our fingertips, researchers monitoring news in real time will be able to identify the origins of a lie with mathematical precision, creating an early warning system for fake news and disinformation.”

Media Matters met with Facebook, which boasts some 2 billion members worldwide, to discuss how to crack down on fake news, according to the memo.

The social media giant was provided with “a detailed map of the constellation of right-wing Facebook pages that had been the biggest purveyors of fake news.”

Brock’s memo also says Media Matters gave Google “the information necessary to identify 40 of the worst fake new sites” so they could be banned from Google’s advertising network.

The Gateway Pundit pointed out that in 2016, Google carried out that plan on the Gateway Pundit blog and other conservative sites, including Breitbart, the Drudge Report, Infowars, Zero Hedge and Conservative Treehouse.

Facebook, meanwhile has changed its newsfeed algorithm, ostensibly to combat “fake news,” causing a precipitous decline in traffic for many conservative sites.

President Donald Trump himself was affected, with his engagement on Facebook dropping by 45 percent.

A study in June by Gateway Pundit found Facebook had eliminated 93 percent of the traffic of top conservative news outlets.

Western Journal, in its own study, found that while left-wing publishers saw a roughly 2 percent increase in web traffic from Facebook following the algorithm changes, conservative sites saw a loss of traffic averaging around 14 percent.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Hundreds of thousands more Israelis okayed to carry guns under new rules
Issue shotguns with birdshot to those Israelis living near Gaza, and the fire kite problem will quickly be ended.
[IsraelTimes] Eased restrictions, allowing IDF combat vets to carry guns even without proving need, aimed at improving response to terror attacks, minister says

More than half a million Israelis have become eligible to receive gun permits under a major reform of the country’s firearms rules, with the stated goal of improving the immediate response to terror attacks.

Under the new rules, which went into effect immediately upon being announced Monday, hundreds of thousands of veterans of the IDF’s infantry units will be eligible for gun permits, along with coppers who received the equivalent training.

Additionally, army officers ranked first lieutenant or higher, as well as non-commissioned officers ranked first sergeant or higher, who carried a weapon during their military service will no longer be required to return their guns and permits when they are discharged from reserve service, and will be allowed to ask to keep carrying them.

Volunteers in certain police units and in medical organizations Magen David Adom, ZAKA and Hatzalah will also be eligible to receive permits.

The reform was unveiled by Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, who has pushed for allowing more Israelis to arm themselves as a response to terror attacks.

Under the old rules, Israelis had to prove a need for the firearms, such as living or working in an area considered dangerous, and undergo regular testing and training.

Under the loosened directives, individuals who have been in continuous possession of a firearm permit for 10 years will now be allowed to keep the permit indefinitely, without undergoing periodic tests to prove they still match the requirements.

The new policy was criticized by the leader of the left-wing opposition party Meretz.

Firearms "are a death machine whose civilian use needs to be reduced as much as possible," Tamar Zandberg said in a statement. "Instead of dealing with the tremendous amount of illegal weapons on the streets endangering human lives, they are simply increasing the number of gun permits."

However,
a lie repeated often enough remains a lie...
Erdan’s office said the new regulations "significantly upgrade" the training process undergone by permit applicants and holders.

"Qualified citizens carrying firearms in public contribute to the sense of security, are an important line of defense from ’lone-wolf’ attacks and thus strengthen public security," Erdan said.

Many Paleostinians have in recent years adopted the "lone-wolf" tactic of carrying out stabbing, car-ramming or shooting attacks against Israelis without the support or operational backing of any terror group. Thousands of such attacks, attempted attacks or planned attacks have been recorded by Israeli authorities since 2016.

"Many citizens have saved lives during terror attacks, and in the era of ’lone-wolf’ attacks, the more qualified gun-carrying citizens there are ‐ the better the chance to thwart terror attacks without casualties and reduce the number of casualties," Erdan said in a statement.

Chechen police kill four teenage attackers
[BBC] Police have shot dead four teenagers who launched three attacks in and around the Chechen capital Grozny, say officials in the Russian republic.

A fifth teenager detonated a bomb he was carrying in a rucksack, but survived. He had approached a police post in Mesker-Yurt, east of Grozny.

No policemen died. In the past decade Chechnya has seen much jihadist unrest.

The Islamic State group says its militants carried out the attacks. The claim has not been verified.

The Chechen Information Minister, Dzhambulat Umarov, said the youngest attacker was 11 and the oldest 17.

Two were armed with knives and attacked a police station in Shali, 25km (15 miles) southeast of Grozny, Chechen police said. Both were shot dead and two policemen were hurt in that attack.

On the outskirts of Grozny a car rammed a traffic police checkpoint and a car chase ensued. Police shot the two occupants dead during that chase. No civilians were hurt in any of the attacks.

In a post on Telegram the Chechen leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, condemned the teenagers who, he alleged, had tried to disrupt Muslim Chechens' celebrations of Eid al-Adha, which begins on Tuesday.

Hezbollah leader meets with Yemeni rebels
[IsraelTimes] Hezbollah says its leader has met with a delegation from Yemen’s Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
rebels.

The Lebanese group says Hassan Nasrallah met with a delegation headed by Houthi front man Mohamad Abdelsalam to discuss the latest developments in Yemen’s civil war.

Hezbollah is believed to train and support the Iran-backed Shiite Houthi rebels, who are at war with a Saudi-led coalition allied with Yemen’s internationally recognized government.

Hezbollah, which is also an Iran-allied Shiite group, says the Houthis are fighting a war against Saudi and American imperialism.

Iran supports the Houthis but denies arming them. Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and Iran are bitter regional rivals.

Egypt puts two monks on trial for murder of bishop
[AlAhram] Two monks have been referred to trial in Alexandria for the murder of the abbot of their former monastery, according to a statement from the prosecutor-general’s office on Sunday.

Isaiah El-Maqary was detained on 11 August on suspicion for the murder of Bishop Epiphanius, who was found dead at Abu Maqar monastery in July. Isaiah has since been officially defrocked by the church due to behaviour unbecoming of a monk.

Another monk, Faltaous El-Maqary, was detained on 12 August for aiding and abetting Isaiah El-Maqary.

The prosecution stated the two men will be tried on charges of "premeditated murder."

On 29 July, 64-year-old Bishop Epiphanius was found dead under suspicious circumstances. He had led Abu Maqar monastery in Wadi El-Natroun, northwest of Cairo.

"During investigations, Wael Saad Tawadros, formerly known by his monastic name Isaiah El-Maqary, confessed to collaborating with the second defendant, Rimon Mansour, formerlyknown by his monastic name Faltaous El-Maqary, to kill Bishop Epiphanius due to personal disagreements," the statement read.

The statement said the two men ambushed the bishop on his way from his residence to the monastery chapel, where Tawadros hit him on the head with a steel bar.

A post-mortem report showed that the bishop died from severe head injuries, including skull fractures and bleeding.

Following the murder, the church has imposed new measures to regulate monastic life.

The new measures include a freeze on accepting new monks, a ban on monks’ use of social media, a ban on building non-sanctioned places of worship, and a ban on monks leaving monasteries without official permission.

15 senators miss votes despite McConnell's criticism of absentees
[The Hill] More than a dozen senators missed Monday night votes, despite a lecture last week from leadership about skipping work during the rare August session.

Fifteen senators ‐ five Democrats and 10 Republicans ‐ did not show up for two votes in the Senate.

The Senate voted on two amendments to a massive Defense, Health and Human Services, Labor and Education bill. Both proposals were approved 85-0, meaning even if lawmakers had shown up, they wouldn't have changed the outcome of the vote.

Asked on Monday how many members would show up this week, Senate GOP Whip John Cornyn (Texas) quipped before the votes: "enough."

But the drop in attendance comes after Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) lectured Republicans during a closed-door lunch about poor attendance during a truncated two-day session last week.

McConnell warned GOP senators on Thursday that without a boost in attendance he would have trouble moving legislation. With Republicans having a slim 51-49 hold on the Senate, the absences effectively make Democrats the majority.

"He’s rightfully, I think, upset. I wasn’t at lunch but I knew what he was going to say," said Sen. John Thune (S.D.), chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, told The Hill last week.

Though Monday evening votes routinely see more senators absent, the 15 missing is a bump in the number absent compared to the four votes last week.

Eleven senators missed Wednesday's vote last week. Ten senators missed two votes that were scheduled for Thursday before lunch, while 11 missed the one vote the Senate held on Thursday after closed-door caucus lunches.

Most of the absences last week were by Republicans, including Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) who is battling brain cancer and has been undergoing treatment in Arizona for months.

The drop in attendance comes after McConnell canceled most of the chamber's summer recess, keeping the Senate in for a rare August session.

GOP leadership faced pressure from both conservatives and the White House to stay in town amid growing frustration about the slow pace of confirmation votes for nominees, and warnings from Trump that he would not sign another omnibus bill ahead of next month's government funding deadline.

Iraq
Iraq, Turkey sign electricity cooperation agreements: ministry
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraq has agreed with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
on multi-level mechanisms of cooperation in the field of electricity, the Iraqi electricity ministry said

The agreements were reached during a recent visit by an Iraqi government delegation, led by Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, to Turkey, according to a statement by the ministry.

The areas of cooperation include participation by Ottoman Turkish companies in the upgrade of gas-powered electricity stations in Iraq, partnership with the Ottoman Turkish side for the manufacturing of electricity pylons, and proceeding with electricity linkage with Turkey for the import of 300 megawatts s a first phase through a power line extending to the Iraqi city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, said the statement.

Iraq had used to import electricity from Iran, but the Iraqi ministry said in July that Iran cut off electricity supplies (1000 megawatts) due to growing debts on Iraq. According to the Iraqi ministry, Iraq produces 15700 megawatts of electricity, but needs more than 23000 megawatts per hour to ensure nonstop supply to residents and institutions

The supply cut exacerbated electricity outages in central and southern Iraqi provinces, prompting protests against poor services and a decision by Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to dismiss former electricity minister Qassem al-Fahdawi.

Washington seeks increasing military bases in Iraq: Expert
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Washington is working on increasing the total number of U.S. bases in Iraq during the coming period of time, a security expert said on Sunday.

Speaking to Almaalomah website, Safaa al-Aasam, said, "the number of U.S. military bases in the northern and western provinces is estimated at nine bases, at which U.S. combat troops, part of the international coalition, are being trained."

Washington, according to Aasam, "seeks increasing the number of military bases up to 12 bases." He also added that Washington "takes advantage of the security situation at the border region between Iraq and Syria to keep its combat forces."

The U.S. will depend on the security failure "to keep its military presence in Iraq and Syria, as well as using the military bases in Iraq to threaten the neighboring countries."

Aasam also indicated that "the international coalition, led by the U.S., prevents the security forces from reaching to these bases, as well as preventing fighter jets to fly above them in order not to reveal the real number of personnel and the capabilities there."

On Sunday, the coalition was U.S. forces will remain in Iraq, so long as there is a need for that, which is contrary to the U.S. promises to withdraw from Iraq after Islamic State

Why Homosexuals Should Not Be Priests … From A Same-Sex Attracted Man
[Daily Wire] Recent revelations of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church have sparked the age-old debate on whether or not the church should have an absolute ban on same-sex attracted men entering the seminary.

As noted by Matt Walsh and other Catholic commentators, roughly 80% of the sexual abuse victims in the Catholic Church were male, many of them being postpubescent. Recently-ousted Cardinal Theodore McCarrick had sexual relations with both adult males and minors; far too often, he preyed on male seminarians entering the priesthood.

In May of this year, Pope Francis went as far as to warn the Italian bishops about homosexual applicants seeking to join the priesthood and why they should not be allowed. His position followed that of Pope Benedict, who emphasized that men "who practice homosexuality, present deep-seated homosexual tendencies, or support the so-called ’gay culture’" could be denied entry into the priesthood. The 2005 Vatican instruction on the question of homosexuality and the priesthood also states: "The Church, while profoundly respecting the persons in question, cannot admit to the seminary or to holy orders those who practice homosexuality, present deep-seated homosexual tendencies or support the so-called ’gay culture.’"

One child is not. It's pretty simple and there's really no excuse for doing it any other way. If you're never alone with a kid there can be no question of impropriety. If you are caught alone with a kid you lose your position. You don't get transferred, you get fired.

The Russian maker of the AK-47 just unveiled a new AK-308 rifle with a large 7.62mm NATO round
[Business Insider] The Russian gun maker of the AK-47 unveiled a brand new rifle on Monday called the AK-308, which it will demonstrate at the Army-2018 Forum on Tuesday.

"The weapon is based on the AK103 submachine gun for the cartridge 7.62x51 mm with elements and components of the AK-12 automatic machine," Kalashnikov Concern said in a press statement on Monday.

"At the moment, preparations are under way for preliminary testing of weapons," Kalashnikov added.

The AK-308 weighs about 9.5 pounds with an empty 20-round magazine, Kalashnikov said. The gun also has a dioptric sight and foldable stock.

At this point, it's unclear if the Russian military will field the new AK-308, but it certainly seems like a possibility.

In January, the Russian military announced it would replace its standard issue AK-74M rifles with AK-12 and AK-15 rifles.

The AK-74M fires a 5.45x39mm round, has a 30-round magazine and weighs about 8.6 pounds when fully loaded.

On the other hand, the AK-12 shoots a 5.45x39mm caliber round, and the AK-15 shoots a 7.62x39mm round, according to Kalashnikov. Each of those two weapons with an empty 30-round magazine weigh about 7.7 pounds.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Sheriff David Clarke (Ret): What Is John Brennan Hiding?
[Townhall] President Trump was correct in pulling back the security clearance held by former CIA Director John Brennan. It should have happened under Barack Obama. Former CIA Director John Brennan has weaponized national security status and has uncharacteristically been on a mission trashing the Trump administration while defending the Obama administration and its meddling in the 2016 presidential campaign that included trying to place a spy inside the Trump campaign.

I say uncharacteristically because most of his predecessors who left the position faded into anonymity rarely to be heard from again. In fact I had to go back and look up the last few people who held the position going back to 1981. They include William Casey, William Webster, Robert Gates, James Woolley, John Deutch, and George Tenet. Other than Robert Gates who went on to become Secretary of Defense in the George W. Bush administration, I am willing to wager that most people could not tell me what those men are doing today. That has been the pattern with former CIA directors. They serve and fade into obscurity. But not John Brennan.

John Brennan is working overtime using an anti-Trump agenda driven liberal media platform while claiming to be protecting the reputation and integrity of our intelligence agencies that have come under scrutiny since it has been exposed that they may have engaged in political hi-jinx or worse, colluded with the FBI to subvert the will of the people in choosing Donald Trump for president.

"Not their first rodeo"

You are correct.

Everything below is open source:

From 2001 to 2005 there was an ongoing investigation into the Clinton Foundation. A Grand Jury had been impanelled because governments from around the world had donated to the “Charity”. Yet, from 2001 to 2003 none of those “Donations” to the Clinton Foundation were declared.

CF was under investigation and who was the lead, James Comey (1). Lois Lerner (2) was then tranfered into the Internal Revenue Service to run the Tax Exemption Branch of the IRS and Rob Rosenstein (3) found himself as the Director of the Tax Division inside the Department of Justice from 2001 to 2005? And the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation during this time frame was, I'll take Robert Mueller (4) for 1000 Alex.

What do all 4 casting characters have in common? They all were briefed and/or were front-line investigators into the Clinton Foundation Investigation.

Let's fast forward to Uranium One. Who delivered a sample of the uranium? Mueller. Who is still working in the IRS Charitable Division and who would ultimately oversee any investigation into the CF, Mrs Lerner. Who became FBI Director? Comey. Rosenstein becomes Asst. Attorney General and his wife, Lisa H. Barsoomian, is a well known swamp defense attorney who has represented the Clintons, Mueller, Comey, and Obama; she also represented the FBI on a few occasions.

Comey's brother works for DLA Piper, the law firm that does the Clinton Foundation's taxes and in its 20+ years of operation of being the largest International Charity Fraud in the history of mankind, it was never been audited by the Internal Revenue Service.

The Grand Turk
Turkey detains two men over shooting at US embassy in Ankara
[AlAhram] Ottoman Turkish authorities detained two men suspected of shooting at the US Embassy in the capital Ankara on Monday, in an attack that coincides with increased tensions between the two NATO

allies over the trial of a US pastor in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
Nobody was hurt in the attack, which President Tayyip Erdogan's front man condemned as an attempt "to create chaos". The Ottoman Turkish Foreign Ministry said it had increased security for the embassy and other US missions and employees in Turkey.

The assailants fired six bullets at an embassy security gate from a passing white vehicle around 0530 a.m. local time (0230 GMT), three bullets hitting an iron door and a window, the Ankara governor's office said.

It issued another statement on Monday evening saying two men in their late 30s were tossed into the calaboose and a vehicle and pistol seized and that the men had confessed to the shooting.

It said both suspects had criminal records and their links were being investigated.

The embassy is closed this week for a public holiday to mark the Islamic Eid al-Adha festival.

"We can confirm a security incident took place at the US Embassy early this morning. We have no reports of any injuries and we are investigating the details," said David Gainer, the embassy front man. "We thank the Ottoman Turkish National Police for their rapid response."

Video footage from broadcaster Haberturk showed police teams inspecting one of the entrances to the embassy and apparent damage caused by a gunshot could be seen in one window. It said empty cartridges were found at the scene.

"This is a clear attempt to create chaos," Erdogan's front man Ibrahim Kalin said on Twitter. "Turkey is a safe country and all foreign missions are under the guarantee of the laws."

The US Embassy in Ankara and the consulate in Istanbul have in the past been the targets of attacks by snuffies and have faced numerous security threats.

Relations between Turkey and the United States have become increasingly strained in recent weeks, with tit-for-tat tariffs imposed partly due to the trial of a US Christian pastor, Andrew Brunson.

The diplomatic rift has exacerbated Turkey's economic woes, putting additional pressure on the lira currency, which has lost nearly 40 percent against the dollar since the start of the year.
Update from Rudaw at 9:45 p.m. names names:
Ahmed Celikten and Osman Gundes have been named by the governorate office as the sole suspects. Both have “confessed that they carried out the attack together,” it said on Monday evening.

According to the statement, Celikten was born in 1979 in Ankara. He has already been convicted of other crimes. Gundes was born in 1980 in Ankara. He has a criminal record involving drugs, car theft, and other offenses.

U.S. Rejects Turkey's Offer to Release Ransom Pastor, Report Says

's offer to condition the release of an American pastor on clearing a top Ottoman Turkish bank of billions of dollars in US fines, media reported Monday.

Washington and Ankara are locked in a bitter feud over the nearly two-year jailing of Andrew Brunson over disputed terror charges, which has triggered a trade row and sent the lira into a tailspin.

In exchange for Brunson's release, and that of other US citizens as well as three Ottoman Turkish nationals working for the US government, Turkey asked Washington to drop a probe into Halkbank, which is facing possible fines for helping Iran evade US sanctions.

But the US said that discussions regarding the fines and other areas of dispute between the two countries were off the table until Brunson was released, a White House official told the Wall Street Journal.

A court has rejected another appeal to free Brunson and Turkey has threatened to respond in kind if Washington imposed further sanctions.

Taliban has reportedly rejected the call for ceasefire during Eid Al-Adha
So much for that lovely idea, but I don’t imagine anyone is surprised.
[KhaamaPress] The Taliban

Lion of Islam group’s leadership has reportedly rejected the call by the government for a ceasefire during Eid al-Adha, due to kick off from tomrrow across Afghanistan.

Two Taliban Überstürmbannführers, privy of the development, have told Rooters that their supreme leader rejected President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
’s Sunday offer of a three-month ceasefire, beginning with this week’s Eid al-Adha Moslem holiday.

"Our leadership feels that they’ll prolong their stay in Afghanistan if we announced a ceasefire now," a senior Taliban Überstürmbannführer, who declined to be identified, told Rooters.

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Sunday announced a conditional ceasefire with the Taliban group during Eid Ald-Adha.
Al Ahram adds:
Separately, Zabihullah Mujahid, a front man for the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
, said by telephone the Taliban would release at least 500 prisoners, including members of the security forces on Monday, a day before Eid celebrations begin.

"We will release some prisoners captured during festivities in three provinces," he said.

But he did not say if any soldiers or coppers taken from the three buses would be released.

Sporadic festivities between Taliban fighters and Afghan forces erupted on the outskirts of Ghazni on Monday as aid workers tried to get help in to the city, aid agency officials said.

The government has said its forces had secured the city after the Taliban laid siege to it for five days this month.

At least 150 soldiers and 95 non-combatants were killed and hundreds were maimed.

Aid agencies officials said their teams had entered the city but festivities in the outskirts prevented them from launching large-scale operations.

US indicts 2 Iranians accused of spying, surveillance of Israeli, Jewish targets
[IsraelTimes] Charge sheet alleges one of the men covertly took photos at several Jewish centers in reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown

Two Iranians who collected information on Israeli and Jewish targets in the US and on opponents of the Iranian regime, were charged Monday with spying for Tehran.

Ahmadreza Mohammadi-Doostdar, 38, a dual US-Iranian citizen, and Majid Ghorbani, 59, an Iranian citizen and resident of Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, were tossed in the clink
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
on August 9.

According to the indictment released by the Justice Department, Doostdar traveled to the United States from Iran in or around July 2017, with the aim of collecting intelligence on entities and individuals considered to be enemies of the Iranian regime.

This included Israeli and Jewish interests, as well as individuals linked to The People’s Mujahedeen (MEK), an Iranian opposition organization which was considered by the US to be a terror organization until 2012.

The indictment states that on or about July 21, 2017, Doostdar carried out surveillance and took photos at several Jewish centers in Chicago, including the Hillel Center and the Rohr Chabad House. Doostdar is accused of taking detailed pictures of the security measures at the ultra-orthodox Chabad center.

The indictment does not name the Israeli targets.

Doostdar then traveled to California where he met Ghorbani, apparently for the first time, according to the indictment.

Two months later Ghorbani flew to New York for one day where he attended an MEK rally and took photographs of people in attendance.

In December Doostdar traveled back to California to get the MEK information. In conversations between them recorded by the FBI, Ghorbani mentioned trying to "penetrate" the group, while Doostdar spoke of being directed by others to collect the information.

"I will give it to the guys to do their research," he said of the photographs.

The indictment says he paid $2,000 to Ghorbani in their meetings.

In March and April this year, Ghorbani went to Iran where, according to the indictment, he briefed government officials on his information on MEK and received a list of "taskings" for infiltrating the dissident group.

In May, Ghorbani attended the MEK-supported Iran Freedom Convention for Human Rights in Washington as part of the California delegation, where he also took pictures of attendees, including while posing in front of the White House.

Doostdar and Ghorbani were both charged with acting as unregistered agents of the Iranian government and providing the Iran government with services in violation of sanctions.

In July it was reported that Israel’s Mossad spy agency thwarted a plan to bomb a June 30 conference organized by the MEK in Gay Paree. The operation led to the arrest of a cell headed by an Iranian diplomat.

China-Japan-Koreas
China’s ‘Private Army’ prowls the ‘New Silk Road’
[AsiaTimes] Security demands for multi-billion-dollar Belt and Road projects have led to the creation of independent paramilitary forces.

It has been described as China’s ‘Private Army.’ Fueled by growing demand from domestic companies involved in the multi-trillion-dollar Belt and Road Initiative, independent security groups are expanding in the country.

In 2013, there were 4,000-registered firms, employing more than 4.3 million personnel. By 2017, the figure had jumped to 5,000 with staff numbers hovering around the five-million mark.

Many of these operatives are former People’s Liberation Army veterans, who have been recruited by security companies closely linked to ‘New Silk Road’ projects.

“Like their Western counterparts, most Chinese PSCs employ former soldiers or former police officers, a fact that blurs the line between China’s security forces and private security providers,” a report by the Mercator Institute for China Studies, or MERICS, a leading German think tank, and the International Institute for Strategic Studies in the United Kingdom stated.

“Beijing keeps the People’s Liberation Army and paramilitary groups such as the People’s Armed Police under the tight and exclusive control of the Chinese Communist Party. However, a booming domestic private security sector has developed since the legalization of PSCs in September 2009,” the study, entitled China Security Project, added.

At the heart of this expansion has been President Xi Jinping’s grandiose Belt and Road Initiative. These ‘New Silk Road’ superhighways will connect China with 68 countries and 4.4 billion people across Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe in a labyrinth of infrastructure developments.

Taliban Release 40 Security Force Members in Faryab
[ToloNews] The freed troops surrendered to the Taliban

after their appeals for supplies and assistance were allegedly ignored last week.

The Taliban on Monday released as least 40 members of the Afghan cops in Bilcheragh district of northern Faryab province.

A number of soldiers freed by the Taliban have said they surrendered to the Taliban because their calls for supplies, assistance and reinforcement troops went unanswered.

Sources on Sunday said about 100 security force members had been in the district at the time ‐ of whom nearly 40 surrendered to the Taliban.

Bilcheragh district collapsed to the Taliban on Saturday night.

According to sources, the district has faced numerous threats recently and eventually fell to the Taliban.

"We contacted the minister of defense, police chief and the governor, I don’t know why they do not concentrate on us, what kind of program is this, they deploy 25 to 30 soldiers in one district, how can these 25 soldiers resist," said one freed soldier.

"The Death Eater were around 2,500 to 3,000, they were equipped with Humvees and heavy artillery, but we had only 26 army officers and 20 police," said Bilcheragh police chief Mohammad Shah.

Bilcheragh police chief Mohammad Shah is also among those released from the Taliban.

According to Shah, they had informed the government about the threats facing the district, but no one in government took notice.

Meanwhile,
...back at the abandoned silver mine, the water was up to Jack's neck and still rising. And then he smelled the smoke...
government officials in Faryab have said that hundreds of Afghan troops have arrived in Faryab under the leadership of deputy chief of army staff to assess the situation.

They said that NATO

jets have also carried out a series of strikes on Taliban bases in several fronts in the province.

The district collapsed after Faryab local officials said on Saturday that some circles are trying to destabilize the province.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
France’s Total Officially Leaves Iran as Minister Says Country’s Oil Facilities Worn Out
[Asharq Al-Awsat]French energy giant Total has officially quit its multi-billion-dollar gas project in Iran, Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said on Monday, following fresh US sanctions.

"Total has officially left the agreement for the development of phase 11 of South Pars (gas field). It has been more than two months that it announced that it would leave the contract," he told parliament's news agency ICANA.

The United States said in May that it was abandoning the 2015 nuclear deal and reimposing sanctions on Iran in two phases in August and November.

The second phase will target Iran's oil industry.

The other parties to the nuclear deal -- Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia -- have vowed to stay in the accord but their companies risk huge penalties if they keep doing business in Iran.

Total had already said it would be impossible to remain in Iran unless it received a specific waiver from Washington, which was not granted.

Total signed up in July 2017 for the $4.8 billion (4.1 billion euro) project to develop the field off Iran's southern coast, as the lead partner alongside the state-owned China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and Iran's Petropars.

It was due to make an initial $1 billion investment, but the company said in May that it had spent less than 40 million euros on the project to date, as uncertainty over US actions mounted.

Total would have been highly vulnerable to US penalties for remaining in Iran.

The company has $10 billion of capital employed in its US assets, and US banks are involved in 90 percent of its financing operations, Total said in May.

It remains unclear whether CNPC will take over Total's stake in the project.

A previous contract for CNPC to develop the field at South Pars was suspended in 2011 after it failed to make progress.

The urgent need for investment to upgrade Iran's dilapidated energy infrastructure was a key motivator behind its decision to join the 2015 nuclear deal.

Zanganeh appeared in parliament on Monday to answer questions on safety concerns following a number of recent fires at refineries.

"A big part of the oil industry has been worn out and the necessary renovation has not taken place," he told parliament, according to the official IRNA news agency.

He said there were 10 cases per day of tubes perforating in Iran's southern facilities, and that some refineries were as much as 80 years old, "whereas the useful life of an industrial unit is 30 years".

"We have no resources for renovating them," he added.

Europe
Italy Threatens to Send Stranded Migrants 'Back to Libya'
[AnNahar] Italia's far-right interior minister threatened Sunday to send "back to Libya" nearly 180 people stranded for three days on an Italian coastguard ship if the EU did not step in to resolve another migrant row with Malta.

The 177 people have been sat off the coast of the Italian island of Lampedusa since Thursday after being saved by the coastguard's Diciotti vessel, and Italia is battling with Malta over who should take them in.

"Either Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
decides to seriously offer Italia some concrete help, beginning with for example the 180 immigrants colonists on board the Diciotti ship, or we will be forced to do what will definitively end the human traffickers' business. That means taking the people saved in the sea back to Libya," Salvini said in a statement.

Numerous human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
abuses have been reported in detention centers that hold migrants colonists hoping to make the perilous crossing of the Mediterranean and arrive in Europe.

The Diciotti has been stood off Lampedusa while Italia's populist government, in power since June, demanded that Malta take in the passengers.

Earlier on Sunday the Maltese government, which on Wednesday allowed 141 migrants colonists aboard the Aquarius vessel to dock after an agreement to distribute them to a number of European countries, underlined its refusal of Italia's demands.

- 'NOT IN DISTRESS' -
Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that the migrants colonists’ boat was not in distress and that they also refused help, while interior minister Michael Farrugia wrote on Twitter that "the only solution" was for the people, saved in waters between the countries, to be taken to Lampedusa or another Italian port.

Farrugia added that the Diciotti picked up the migrants colonists inside the Maltese search and rescue area "without any coordination from the competent RCC (Rescue Coordination Center), just to stop them arriving in Italian waters".

"An interception of a boat that exercises its right to free navigation in the high seas is not considered a rescue operation," said Farrugia.

Malta's refusal to take in the migrants colonists has infuriated the Italian government, already angered by an operation that Salvini says was carried out by the Italian coastguard without the approval of Rome.

"Malta's behavior is once again unqualifiable and deserves sanction," Italian Minister of Transport Danilo Toninelli said on Twitter on Sunday.

"The EU needs to step forward and open its ports to solidarity, otherwise it has no reason to exist."

The spat between Italia and Malta is the second in just over a month. It follows the battle over 450 people rescued from a fishing ship and taken aboard two EU border agency vessels who were eventually allowed to disembark in Italia after five European countries agreed to take 50 each.

In June, Malta was forced to take the German NGO boat Lifeline carrying over 234 migrants colonists, just days after a standoff between the island nation and Italia led to the French rescue ship Aquarius being diverted and taking 630 people to Spain.
