Trump Administration Sues Facebook For Fair Housing Act Violations
[Redstate] The Trump Administration has joined a lawsuit filed by the National Fair Housing Alliance against Facebook. The lawsuit alleges that Facebook allows potential landlords to divert housing ads away from potential tenants based on their ZIP Code, religion, race, gender (no word if this was the two biological ones or the 71 Facebook’s SJWs have dreamed up), national origin, and disability. In addition, HUD has filed an administrative complaint against Facebook in regards to the same allegation.

Rather than a HUD action, I think this is more properly viewed as a preview of how the Administration plans to handle the systemic punishment of conservative content by the social media platforms.

It is going to be difficult for Facebook to win this case because the advertising tool allowed people placing the ads to block people who liked Telemundo or had mentions of service dogs or mobility scooters or stay-at-home-Mom in their timeline. This is going to hurt Facebook’s brand and it will hurt them financially. It is also going to promote the image of social media platforms who think they are too big and too powerful to have to bother with obeying the law.

Over time, if the administration is diligent at all, they will be able to build a case that Justice can use to bring down the hammer. That probably won’t be necessary. The social media platforms like running their business without constant proctological exams by federal agencies. I suspect they’ll modify their behavior and stop letting the inmates run the asylum.

Spying Seagull‐the new enemy of the Arab nation
[Ynet] Israeli researches attach a surveillance device onto a seagull's leg in order to track its route. During its flight, the innocent bird lands in Tripoli where locals catch it and transfer the bird to the authorities on suspicion of spying for Israel; The ornithologist who attached the device: 'Let the bird live and set it free.'

Brazil sends troops after clashes at Venezuela border
[France 24] Brazil will send troops to its border with Venezuela on Monday after residents of the Brazilian border town of Pacaraima drove out Venezuelan immigrants from their improvised camps, amid growing regional tensions.

Tens of thousands of Venezuelans have crossed the border into Brazil over the past three years as they seek to escape the economic, political and social crisis gripping their country.

The latest show of tensions began early Saturday, hours after a local merchant was robbed and severely beaten in an incident blamed on Venezuelan suspects, in Pacaraima, where an estimated 1,000 immigrants are living on the street.

Dozens of locals then attacked the two main immigrant makeshift camps and burned their belongings, leading Venezuelans to cross the border back into their home country. Shots were fired, stores were shuttered and debris littered the streets.

"It was terrible, they burned the tents and everything that was inside," said Carol Marcano, a Venezuelan who works in Boa Vista and was on the border returning from Venezuela. "There were shots, they burned rubber tires."

Marcano said that some Venezuelans reacted to the attack by destroying a car with Brazilian license plates. She and her companions were among many who took refuge at checkpoints on the Venezuelan side of the border.

Three Brazilians were hurt in the clashes, a spokesman for military police said. No information was immediately available on the state of the Venezuelans involved.

The merchant who was attacked "is known, he is a neighbor, and there was indignation when it was learned that he had been robbed," a local told AFP on condition of anonymity.

"People began to expel Venezuelans who were in the center of the city, forcing them to return to their country."

Roraima state Governor Suely Campos made a plea to temporarily close the border and asked Brazilia to send security reinforcements to "face the increase in crime" she links to Venezuelans in the region.

In turn, the public security ministry vowed to send a contingent of 60 troops due to arrive Monday to join teams in the area.

- VENEZUELAN IMMIGRANTS REVILED -
Tensions are rising in Latin America over migration triggered by the crises in Venezuela and in Nicaragua, where President Daniel Ortega has led a brutal crackdown on anti-government protesters.

Peru and Ecuador are halting immigrants at the border by requiring would be border-crossers to show their passports -- which many lack -- instead of simple identity cards.

Last week alone, 20,000 Venezuelans entered Peru, authorities say. The restrictive measures there go into effect August 25.

Kevin Spacey's 'Billionaire Boys Club' Earns Abysmal $126 On Opening Day
Well, that should just about end his Hollywood career...
[THR] - The ensemble crime-drama ‐ also starring Ansel Elgort and Taron Egerton ‐ marks a career box-office low for the disgraced Spacey after premiering first on VOD.

Disgraced actor Kevin Spacey is enduring a career low at the box office this weekend.

The ensemble crime-drama Billionaire Boys Club quietly opened Friday in 10 theaters scattered in select states across the U.S. The indie film earned an abysmal $126 for the day, following its release on premium VOD last month, according to those with access to theater grosses.

Put another way, that's a per location average of $12.60, which doesn't even equal two tickets if going by the current average ticket price of $9.27. For the full weekend, Billionaire Boys Club could have trouble hitting $1,000 ‐ by far the worst showing of a film starring Spacey. Titles that debut first on VOD aren't generally big draws at the box office, but Billionaire Boys Club is faring particularly poorly.

Ansel Elgort and Taron Egerton share top billing in Billionaire Boys Club, followed by Spacey. Emma Roberts, Jeremy Irvine, Cary Elwes, Judd Nelson and Billie Lourd also star in the movie, which is based on the real-life club of the same name that made headlines in Southern California in the 1980s. Spacey plays real-life Beverly Hills high-roller Ron Levin.

Brennan Threatens to Sue President Trump After Being Stripped of Clearance
Go ahead, asshole. You aren't entitled to a Clearance
[Grabien] 'I am going to do whatever I can personally to try to prevent these abuses in the future; and if it means going to court, I will do that'

NBC security analyst and former CIA director John Brennan is doubling down on a threat to sue President Trump after the outspoken former Obama official was stripped of his security clearance.

Brennan appeared Friday night on MSNBC and told Rachel Maddow he is exploring litigation against the president. This follows Reps. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) saying Trump stripping Brennan of his security clearance is illegal.
LOL - idiots
"As you can imagine, a number of lawyers reached out to say that there is a very strong case here, not so much to reclaim mine but to prevent this from happening in the future," Brennan said. "So, I am thinking about what it is that I might want to do. At this time, I'm trying to make sure that the principle is what is going to be defended and supported and this is something that should not be repeated."

"The other people on the so-called enemy's list now, I think this is just another example of Mr. Trump trying to frighten and intimidate others," he continued. "But I can tell you, having worked in the national security and intelligence, these are not the type of people who are bullied or intimidated by the likes of someone of Mr. Trump."

#3  So... Constitutionally the president is the sole voice regarding national defense. The president can classify or reclassify at will. The people who actually go through background clearance investigations lose their clearance when they leave the job requiring it.

Trump changes the CUSTOM of extending the clearance of appointed officials past their leaving office. This is somehow a Constitutional crisis, despite all of the above.

Brennan lied to Congress about, of all things, warrantless surveillance of the entirety of the U.S. and of Congress. He should be thankful no one's figured out how to take him to court on that.

Al Sharpton Messes Up Spelling of Legendary Aretha Franklin Song: ‘R-E-S-P-I-C-T'
MSNBC's "Politics Nation" host Rev. Al Sharpton called on President Donald Trump to be respectful in his rhetoric toward women but inadvertently misquoted legendary singer Aretha Franklin's most famous lyric.

Sharpton was addressing Trump's insults toward Omarosa Manigault Newman, the former White House aide and "Apprentice" contestant who wrote a new tell-all book criticizing him. Trump called Newman a "dog," a favorite insult of his that Sharpton called an "animalistic slur."

"I think you might've learned the lesson this week, sometimes the dog bites back with a book deal," Sharpton said.

Sharpton concluded his comments with a reference to Franklin's 1967 hit "Respect," in which the singer spelled the word out. Sharpton and Franklin, who died last week at the age of 76, were close friends.

"So in the words of my late friend Aretha Franklin, show some R-E-S-P-I-C-T, and the next time you get a black woman and a beagle confused, remember this: I got you," Sharpton said.

In the song, Franklin did not spell it that way.

Intelligence Community eats it's own: Clapper - Brennan's Rhetoric Has ‘Become an Issue In and Of Itself'
[Breitbart] Sunday on CNN’s "State of the Union," former director of National Intelligence James Clapper said the removal of former CIA Director John Brennan’s security clearance by President Donald Trump was in part because of Brennan’s "rhetoric."

When asked if Brennan’s hyperbole is an issue, Clapper said, "I think it is. I think John is sort of like a freight train and he’s going to say what’s on his mind. I think, though, that the common denominator among all of us that have been speaking up, though, is genuine concern about the jeopardy or threats to our institutions and values. And we all express that in different ways. And I think this is what this is really about. But I think John and his rhetoric have become an issue in and of itself."

Bolton: Brennan, Others in Obama Administration ‘Were Politicizing Intelligence'
[Breitbart] Sunday on ABC’s "This Week," national security adviser John Bolton said the removal of former CIA Director John Brennan’s security clearance by President Donald Trump was justified because "he and others in the Obama administration were politicizing intelligence."

Bolton said, "It was my view at the time that he and others in the Obama administration were politicizing intelligence. I think that is a very dangerous thing to do."

Government
KEK Wars 4 - the Future
Conclusion:
On the basis of the points discussed above, I think it's safe to predict that no future attempt to stop Trump in his tracks will get any further than the ones we've already seen. The efforts to hit Trump over the head with an investigation or stab him with media tirades will doubtless continue‐in fact, with an eye toward the legends, I wouldn't be surprised if the Mueller investigation is still lumbering ineffectually onward for a long time to come, and I'd be amazed if there's the slightest decrease in the sniping from the media and the official intelligentsia‐but none of it will affect the outcome. At the beginning of 2025, when Donald Trump hands over the presidency to his successor, he'll look back on a long string of crises that never quite managed to derail him. By that time, furthermore, the nation and the world will have changed irrevocably.

With an eye to the first two parts of this series of posts, it's not too hard to see the new realities taking shape on the far side of the Trump era. The drastic pruning of federal regulations, the end of one-sided free trade agreements that encourage the offshoring of working class jobs, and the end of the tacit encouragement of mass illegal immigration and the resulting downward pressure on wages and benefits‐all core policies of the Trump administration‐represent a dramatic rebalancing of economic power in American society away from the managerial aristocracy. The realities of politics being what they are, that will bring about an equally dramatic rebalancing of political influence. We're already seeing a lively socialist insurgency threatening the Democratic Party establishment, and a less dramatic but equally far-reaching influx of populist candidates into the GOP is also well under way. Despite all the shrill denunciations of the mainstream media and the official intelligentsia, There Is An Alternative‐in fact, more than one‐and that in itself shows that the enforced consensus of the last forty years is shattering around us.

That will have equally dramatic effects on the international scene. The managerial aristocracy of the recent past had the power and wealth it did because the United States maintained hegemony over most of the world. Our empire‐yes, I know, it's impolite to use such terms, but let's please be real‐our empire, as I was saying, gave the five per cent of humanity that lived in the United States a quarter of the planet's resources and a third of its manufactured products, and of course those were by no means equally distributed among Americans. The way that old-money families and tech-stock godzillionaires alike have by and large rallied around the opposition to the Trump administration shows that they know perfectly well which way the wind is blowing.

In the history of every empire, there comes a point when the costs of maintaining the empire exceeds the profits. We got to that point quite some time ago, and the policies that drove the US working class into destitution and misery can best be understood as attempts to keep the privileged classes comfortable by shoving the rising costs of empire onto everyone else. The end of free-trade arrangements, the retreat from foreign military commitments such as NATO, and the first steps toward a modus vivendi with Russia, North Korea, and other rival nations are necessary steps in the retreat from empire. Off in the distance, on the far side of the Changer's upriver journey, we can see the first dim foreshadowings of post-imperial America, and with any luck, of a nation a little less riven by rigid class barriers and so a little more likely to deal with its many pressing problems.

Mind you, fifty years from now, there will doubtless still be people who get their moth-eaten pussy hats down from a box in the attic, and reminisce fondly about the good old days when the United States could still pretend to be the world's irreplaceable nation, when Barack Obama used drone strikes to vaporize wedding parties on the other side of the world and the deplorables still knew their place. That's the nature of outworn aristocracies; on a broader scale, it's the nature of historical change‐especially when the deep patterns of the collective psyche surge into action and leave the presumptions of a fading era shattered in their wake.

Behind the exodus from US state schools
[BBC] The number of children taught at home in the US is steadily growing. What's behind parents' concerns with the education system?

As fierce national debate over controversial social justice issues spills into America's public schools, many parents are responding by pulling their children out.

This is playing out in Texas especially, because even though independent-minded Texans typically don't have much time for government meddling, many nevertheless adhere to that higher form of government - religion.

Hence many Texas parents are increasingly frustrated at what they perceive as religion being phased out of Texas public schools.

"Religion is a taboo subject in public schools across the board," says Shannon Helmi in Austin, the Texas capital, where she has chosen to educate her four daughters privately with Regina Caeli, a homeschooling hybrid that teaches a curriculum based on the Catholic tradition.
"I don't think our state educators set out to be anti-religion, rather the education provided by the state must not be biased towards any religion. The problem [is that] an unbiased approach in education is unattainable - education is based on some original source, so if our education is based on no source it's ultimately anti-source."

Parents and teachers in Texas also complain about the state's public schools being made to march to the tune of an aggressive liberal agenda.

The result sees Texas parents voting with their feet and embracing a plethora of alternative private schooling systems that teach the likes of Christian theologians and Greek philosophers.

Aretha Franklin Bashed Trump in Private, Blew Off Inauguration Invite
[Daily Beast] The president called her his ’friend.’ The Queen of Soul wanted absolutely nothing to do with him or his inauguration, sources confirm.

The late "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin hated the political rise of Donald Trump. But that didn’t stop him from trying, and failing, to book her to perform at his 2017 inauguration.

Shortly after his shock election victory, then President-elect Trump tasked Tom Barrack, his longtime friend and the chairman of the Presidential Inaugural Committee, with reaching out to Franklin to ask if she would perform at an inaugural event and concert, according to three sources familiar with what happened. Trump had long considered the legendary singer a friend, and wanted the offer framed as an opportunity to help bring the country back together after a brutal, bruising presidential election.

However, Team Trump’s contacts in Hollywood failed to secure the Queen of Soul for the inauguration.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Rep. Pete King: Brennan Ran Intel Policy Through Obama WH Frustrating Intelligence Community
BLUF:
[Daily Caller] "Here’s the problem ... and this is from people from the intelligence community too. John Brennan is running intelligence policy from the White House. He is getting in the weeds in different intelligence organizations that are out there," King said.

"He’s doing this from the White House. Obviously, he is not subject to Congressional scrutiny, because he’s on the White House staff, and it’s a very dangerous situation, where you have a homeland security advisor who is beyond the reach of Congress actually making, running, and carrying on intelligence policy. It’s wrong. I’m not aware of it happening before."

King admitted he did not get along with Brennan, but he gave examples of the issues Congress had with the Obama counter-terrorism advisor.

Rahm Emanuel Comes Under Fire for Saying a Lack of Morals Behind Violence
[FOX] As Chicago braces for another bloody weekend, Mayor Rahm Emanuel is once again coming under fire for blaming a lack of morals in predominantly black and Hispanic neighborhoods for the recent spate of violent crime.

Emanuel, who has been mayor since 2011 and is facing growing calls to resign from members of his own party, urged locals to "be a neighbor" and "speak up" to help law enforcement pursue killers, gang members and drug dealers.

After one particularly violent weekend earlier this month when more than 70 people were shot, Emanuel deflected questions about police staffing and strategy. Instead, he ignited a firestorm when he said there needs to be a politically incorrect conversation about character and values.
"This may not be politically correct," he said, "but I know the power of what faith and family can do. ... Our kids need that structure. ... I am asking ... that we also don’t shy away from a full discussion about the importance of family and faith helping to develop and nurture character, self-respect, a value system and a moral compass that allows kids to know good from bad and right from wrong."

He added: "If we’re going to solve this ... we’ve got to have a real discussion. ... Parts of the conversation cannot be off-limits because it’s not politically comfortable. ... We are going to discuss issues that have been taboo in years past because they are part of the solution. ... We also have a responsibility to help nurture character. It plays a role. Our kids need that moral structure in their lives. And we cannot be scared to have this conversation."

Mom Who Threw 6-Figure 'Black Panther' Theme Prom Party Featuring a Real Panther Now Accused of Welfare Fraud
[Townhall] A Philadelphia mom known for throwing back-to-back years of extravagant prom parties which cost upwards of hundreds of thousands of dollars has been charged with welfare fraud, according to the Associated Press.

Prom is quite possibly the dumbest and most expensive American tradition to date.* Hundreds of dollars are typically spent on tuxedos and corsages for the boys while the girls spend even more on make-up, hair, and dresses for one night of awkward dancing. But, for Sheila Shuler, no cost was too much for her prom-send offs in 2017 and 2018.

In 2017, she threw a Dubai themed party for local high schoolers that cost $25,000. Then, in 2018, she spent 6 figures on a prom send-off party in honor of the movie 'Black Panther.' She even brought a live panther to the party. At the time, Shuler said she "had a contest this year that asked kids in her North Philadelphia neighborhood to send their report cards and essays explaining why they deserved to have an epic prom send-off" and ended up inviting 24 kids. Neighbors and parents supposedly pitched in for the audacious affair. Shuler dressed up as "as Queen Mother Ramonda" and party guests were entertained by African dancers and people wearing "custom costumes."

'As needed basis' for security clearances explained by General Mattis
[Breitbart] Defense Secretary Jim Mattis expressed solidarity with President Trump’s stripping of former Obama CIA Director John Brennan’s security clearance earlier this week.

"All I can tell you is, I have taken security clearances away from people in my previous time in uniform, and a security clearance is something that is granted on an as-needed basis," he told Pentagon reporters traveling with him in South America on Friday.

#1  ...Hear, hear. Once you're no longer employed by the Federal Government (or a contractor), you lose the fu@king clearance - is that so hard to figure out? There is no First Amendment right to a clearance (anyone who suggests that losing a clearance is a 'free speech' issue should be soundly thrashed everytime they bring it up), and there's certainly no right to a clearance while you are actively working to cripple or for that matter take down a President of the United States. Anyone who believes Brennan wasn't using his access to further his agenda is either a useful idiot or flat-out complicit.

And while we're at it, pull the clearances on every last one of those morons who signed the letter complaining about it. That alone may do more to put the fear of God and Donald J. Trump into people than anything else he's done so far.

California Demands Trump, Congress Apologize to Illegal Aliens
[Breitbart] California state legislators passed a resolution Thursday calling on Congress to formally apologize, and for President Donald Trump to join them in acknowledging wrongdoing in separating illegal alien family units at the border.

State Senators Kevin de León, Richard Pan, and Scott Wiener authored the joint resolution that was scheduled for debate, and passed on Thursday. KPBS reported just three legislators opposed ‐ Joel Anderson, Mike Morrell, and Jim Nielsen ‐ while 29 approved it, and eight didn’t vote.

The California Senate resolution calls on Congress to specifically apologize to the children separated from the adult foreign nationals who illegally brought them across the U.S. border. It also petitions Congress and President Trump to acknowledge wrongdoing in separating illegal alien adults and children.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
UN chief proposes options to protect Palestinians, Israel says ‘no’
[ARABNEWS] UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday presented four options aimed at boosting the protection of Paleostinians in Israeli-occupied territories, from sending UN rights monitors and unarmed observers to deploying a military or police force under UN mandate.

But the report has been rejected by the Israelis.

Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon said in a statement late Friday that "the only protection the Paleostinian people need is from their own leadership."

"Instead of suggesting ways to protect the Paleostinian people from Israel, the UN should instead hold the Paleostinian leadership accountable for continually endangering its own people," Danon said.

"The report’s suggestions will only enable the Paleostinians’ continued rejectionism."

The proposals were contained in a report requested by the General Assembly in response to a surge of violence in Gazoo, where 171 Paleostinians have been killed by Israeli fire since late March.

The UN chief stressed that for each of the options, cooperation by Israel and the Paleostinians would be necessary. It remained unlikely however that Israel would agree to the proposals.

In the 14-page report, Guterres proposed:

• Providing a "more robust UN presence on the ground" with rights monitors and political officers to report on the situation.

• Pouring in more UN humanitarian and development aid to "ensure the well-being of the population."

• Creating a civilian observer mission that would be present in sensitive areas such as checkpoints and near Israeli settlements, with a mandate to report on protection issues.

• Deploying an armed military or police force, under a UN mandate, to provide physical protection to Paleostinian civilians.

A UN mandate for a protection force would require a decision from the Security Council, where the United States could use its veto power to block a measure opposed by Israel.

A small European-staffed observer mission was deployed in the West Bank city of Hebron in 1994, but Israel has since rejected calls for an international presence in flashpoint areas.

[DAWN] A 65-year-old man was killed when Indian troops resorted to "unprovoked" firing across the Line of Control (LoC) in Danna sector of Azad Jammu and Kashmire (AJK), an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement said on Saturday.

Military and border guard commanders Aung Kyaw Zaw, Khin Maung Soe, Khin Hlaing, and Thura San Lwin were accused of leading violent campaigns against the Moslem Rohingya in Rakhine state as well as minorities in Kachin and Shan states.

"Burmese security forces have engaged in violent campaigns against ethnic minority communities across Burma, including ethnic cleansing, massacres, sexual assault, extra-judicial killings, and other serious human rights abuses," said Sigal Mandelker, Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence in the US Treasury, which announced the sanctions.

The US Treasury said the sanctions on individuals were meant as a warning to security forces to cease abuses of ethnic and religious minorities and to respect their rights.

Shahbaz set to become opposition leader in National Assembly
[DAWN] Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz President Shahbaz Sharif
...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab...
is set to become the leader of the opposition in the country’s 15th National Assembly as 111 MNAs have nominated him for the slot.

Speaker Asad Qaiser told the house on Friday that he had received Mr Sharif’s nomination as the opposition leader signed by 111 members from the opposition benches.

The leader of the opposition will be notified on Monday.

While the Pakistain Peoples Party had abstained from voting for Shahbaz Sharif for the office of prime minister, it appeared that some PPP politicians had also recommended Mr Sharif as the opposition leader.

The PPP has a total of 43 MNAs.

The total strength of the PML-N in the house is 82 followed by the Mutahidda Majlis-e-Amal (15) and the Awami National Party
founded by Abdul Wali Khan in 1986. Part of the PPP-led cabinet 2008-13. The ANP is considered left wing, advocating for secularism, democratic socialism, public sector government, and economic egalitarianism....
(one).

The collective number of the three opposition parties is 98 and the support of 111 politicians to Mr Sharif indicated that some PPP members also supported his candidature for the slot of the leader of the opposition.

ISIS reappears in east Homs to attack Syrian Army troops
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) reappeared in the eastern countryside of the Homs Governorate last night to attack the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops in the Badiya al-Sham region.

ISIS began their attack by storming the Syrian Arab Army’s positions inside the al-Bardah area; this would result in a fierce battle that would last for several hours.

However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
despite the intensity of their attack, the Islamic State was unable to make any substantial gains against the Syrian Arab Army in the al-Bardah area of east Homs.

According to a military source in Damascus, the Islamic State fled back in the desert after failing to infiltrate the Syrian Arab Army’s second line of defense.

The source added that ISIS has recently intensified their hit and run attacks in eastern Syria after the Syrian Arab Army launched their large-scale offensive in the eastern countryside of Sweida.

(ISIS) snuffies attempted to breakout of the al-Safa Mountain, which is completely surrounded by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in east Sweida.

According to a military source in Sweida city, the Islamic State attempted to infiltrate the Syrian Arab Army’s positions at the northern slope of the al-Safa Mountain; however, they were ultimately caught dead in their tracks by local scouts from the National Defense Forces.

The source added that once the Islamic State snuffies were spotted, a fierce battle would breakout and last for over three hours on Saturday morning.

The Islamic State snuffies have become desperate on the al-Safa Mountain, as they are likely running out of provisions to survive on this large site in east Sweida.

ISIS previously controlled most of east Sweida, but this would drastically change once the Syrian Arab Army shifted their attention to this region of the province.

British warships being raided for scrap metal
[NEWS.SKY] British ships sunk during the Second World War have been plundered for scrap metal, according to a report.

The 10 ships are designated as war graves and lie off the coasts of Malaysia and Indonesia, where they contain the graves of more than 1,000 sailors.

But a Mail On Sunday report says they have been raided by Chinese pirates in recent years, with their structures looted and the remains of fallen war heroes disturbed.

Previous reports have also blamed operators from Vietnam and Thailand.

Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson said the government "absolutely condemns" the unauthorised disturbance of any wreck containing human remains.

"I am very concerned to hear any allegations of incidents of Royal Navy wrecks being plundered in the Far East," he said.

"We will work closely with the Indonesian and Malaysian governments to investigate these claims."

The Royal Navy Admiral-class battlecruiser HMS Hood as viewed from the forcastle of the Renown-class battlecruiser HMS Repulse and her 42-calibre BL 15-inch Mk I guns from the forward A and B turrets whilst on patrol in the North Sea on 1 September 1939

The newspaper said that the operations were being carried out by Chinese-owned barges which drop massive anchors on the sunken ship to smash it.

They send down long cranes to collect the metal, which is taken to Indonesian scrapyards and cut into smaller pieces.

It is then taken to China and enters the world steel market.

According to an Australian diving expert quoted in the report, the metal haul from each ship can fetch more than £1m and the Indonesian government estimates there are hundreds of military shipwrecks off its coast.

But the plundering of the wrecks is against the UN International Salvaging Convention and also breaches the laws of Britannia, Indonesia and Malaysia.

forces killed a high ranking commander of the al-Qaeda terrorist group this weekend.

According to the official media wing of the Houthi forces, their fighters killed the al-Qaeda commander, Ghaleb ’Abdullah al-Zaydi, after the former stormed the terrorist group’s base in the Mareb Governorate.

In particular, the Houthi attack took place inside the Rabia Valley of the Sirwah District, which is partially controlled by the al-Qaeda terrorist organization.

The Houthi forces have been fighting the Saudi-backed troops and al-Qaeda snuffies inside the Mareb Governorate for over two years now.

Despite labeling al-Qaeda a terrorist group, the Saudi Coalition has often avoided the former in order to concentrate their efforts on the Houthi forces.

BDS Activists Shut Down Berlin Festival Event Due To Minor Israeli Sponsorship
[Jpost] The podium panel was titled "Boycott" and had to be ended because of the hostility created by the anti-Israel activists in the audience.

Anti-Israel activists in Berlin lashed out at a podium discussion at the Pop Cultural festival opening on Thursday, disrupting the panel conversation because the Jewish state provided a small donation to the event.

Highly aggressive BDS activists shouted at the podium participants: "Israel is an apartheid state. Are you not ashamed? You are racists who support the Apartheid regime. You are the true antisemite. You are criminals. Because of leftists like you I support BDS."

German media reported on the outbursts directed at Shelly Kupferberg, the journalist and podium moderator, the Israeli author Lizzy Doron and Berlin’s Left party cultural senator Klaus Lederer. The podium panel was titled "Boycott" and had to be ended because of the hostility created by the anti-Israel activists in the audience.

Six artists have boycotted the Berlin Pop Culture Festival, because Israel contributed €1,200 to cover the travel expenses for its artistic participation.
Six artists have boycotted the Berlin Pop Culture Festival, because Israel contributed €1,200 to cover the travel expenses for its artistic participation.

BDS has infected Berlin, and posters across the city showed an imploded city with the statement: "Pop Culture. Sponsored by Apartheid." Lederer has won praise for his opposition to the BDS campaign and is widely considered a rare voice among the German Left who rejects assaults on Israel’s existence. Lederer termed BDS "structural antisemitism."

Rabbi Abraham Cooper, the associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center told The Jerusalem Post, that "In 2018 BDS is a litmus test for antisemitism. No German institution should ever support a campaign to cripple and endanger the largest Jewish community in the world."

Michaela Engelmeier, a top level German Social Democratic politician, told the Post on Tuesday that "My opinion is that no one, no institution, no societal group, really no one should work together with BDS or hold accounts for these antisemitic groups."

While the Berlin cultural festival has explicitly countered BDS, a large music and cultural event ‐ the Ruhrtriennale festival in the city of Bochum in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia ‐ has mainstreamed BDS, according to critics. The pro-Israel organizations German-Israel friendship society and its youth organization have called for protests against the Ruhrtriennale on Saturday. The DIG youth forum wrote on its Twitter feed: "No podium discussion for the BDS campaign at the Ruhrtriennale" and "No space for antisemitism!" and "No space for anti-normalization campaigns against the Jewish state!"

DIG President Helmut Konighaus equated BDS with the Nazi-era boycott movement targeting German Jewish businesses. He said that "In truth, BDS is nothing more than a modern ’don’t buy from Jews!." Anti-BDS activists and Jewish leaders have called for Stefanie Carp, the director of the Ruhrtriennale, to resign.

In an interview with the Ruhrbarone online news website, antisemitism expert Prof. Samuel Salzborn said "BDS makes the life for Jews in Germany dangerous." The Bank for Social Economy, located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, enables the largest number of BDS groups to finance economic warfare against the Jewish state. The bank’s CEO Harald Schmitz declined to respond to Post queries about his defense of BDS bank accounts.

US-backed forces repel IS group attack in east Syria: Monitor

group targeting barracks housing American and French troops in eastern Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Saturday.

The Syrian Democratic Forces and the US-led coalition supporting them were on high alert after the raid late Friday at the Omar oil field in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor, the Britannia-based war monitor said.

"The attack targeted the oil field's housing, where US-led coalition forces and leaders of the Syrian Democratic Forces are present," Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said.

Seven Islamist Death Eaters were killed in the attack, which ended at dawn after festivities near the barracks, he added.

Contacted by AFP, neither the US-led coalition nor the Kurdish-led SDF were immediately available for comment.

In October last year, the SDF took control of the Omar oil field, one of the largest in Syria, which according to The Syria Report economic weekly had a pre-war output of 30,000 barrels per day.

"It's the largest attack of its kind since the oil field was turned into a coalition base" following its capture by the SDF, Abdel Rahman said.

IS overran large swathes of Syria and neighbouring Iraq in 2014, proclaiming a "caliphate" in territory it controlled.

But the jihadist group has since lost nearly all of it to multiple offensives in both countries.

In Syria, two separate campaigns -- by the US-backed SDF and by the Russia-supported government -- have reduced IS's presence to pockets in Deir Ezzor and in the vast desert that lies between it and the capital.

Iranian-Backed ‘Sleeper Cell’ Militants Hibernating in U.S., Positioned for Attack
How exciting.
[FREEBEACON] Iranian-backed turbans are operating across the United States mostly unfettered, raising concerns in Congress and among regional experts that these "sleeper cell" agents are poised to launch a large-scale attack on the American homeland, according to testimony before politicians.

Iranian agents tied to the terror group Hezbollah have already been discovered in the United States plotting attacks, giving rise to fears that Tehran could order a strike inside America should tensions between the Trump administration and Islamic Theocratic Republic reach a boiling point.

Intelligence officials and former White House officials confirmed to Congress on Tuesday that such an attack is not only plausible, but relatively easy for Iran to carry out at a time when the Trump administration is considering abandoning the landmark nuclear deal and reapplying sanctions on Tehran.

There is mounting evidence that Iran poses "a direct threat to the homeland," according to Rep. Peter King
...U.S. Representative for New York's 3rd (central Long Island) congressional district, serving since 1993. He is of the Publican persuasion and is known for his active support for the IRA Irish republican movement...
(R., N.Y.), a member of the House Homeland Security Committee and chair of its subcommittee on counterterrorism and intelligence.

A chief concern is "Iranian support for Hezbollah, which is active in the Middle East, Latin America, and here in the U.S., where Hezbollah operatives have been nabbed
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
for activities conducted in our own country," King said, referring the recent arrest of two individuals plotting terror attacks in New York City and Michigan.

"Both individuals received significant weapons training from Hezbollah," King said. "It is clear Hezbollah has the will and capability."

After more than a decade of receiving intelligence briefs, King said he has concluded that "Hezbollah is probably the most experienced and professional terrorist organization in the world," even more so than ISIS and Al Qaeda.

US, Turkish forces will start joint training for Manbij ‘very soon’
Carrot and stick, or obsolete intentions?
[Rudaw] The United States revealed that the start of training for joint US-Ottoman Turkish patrols in Manbij is imminent.

"I would say within 72 hours actually. Very soon, could be sooner," US Secretary of Defense Mattis told journalists on Thursday, Voice of America has reported.

He added that US training gear, equipment, and training officers are in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

allies are currently conducting "coordinated but independent" around the northern Syrian city.

The US-led international coalition backed the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in a 2016 campaign to take the city from ISIS. The SDF is primarily composed of the Peoples' Protection Units (YPG). Turkey objected to an SDF or YPG presence there, claiming they are Syrian extensions of the PKK.

The city's security is now in the hands of the Manbij Military Council.

Washington and Ankara reached an agreement on a plan for Manbij on June 4.

The spokesperson for the coalition, US Army Col. Sean Ryan said in June that the details of the agreement were still being negotiated, but Ottoman Turkish forces will not enter the city.

Several sources have told Rudaw that Ottoman Turkish forces are to patrol outside of the city, but within the Sajur, or Euphrates Shield, border.

The training comes at a time when diplomatic relations have been strained by US sanctions and tariffs against Ankara and inflammatory rhetoric by US President Donald Trump

India-Pakistan
Pakistan Confirms US Suspended Military Training Program
[ToloNews] Pakistain’s foreign ministry has confirmed the suspension of a US military training program for Pak soldiers.

Thursday’s announcement by the ministry reflects continued tensions between the two allies in the war on terror.

The training of Pak soldiers in the United States is the latest program to be hurt by the cutoff of security aid to Pakistain, which was announced at the beginning of this year.

The United States often accuses Pakistain of harboring bad boy groups and providing safe havens for gunnies who carry out attacks in neighboring Afghanistan, a charge Islamabad denies and says U.S. criticism is unfair.

Pakistain also repeatedly reminds the United States that it has lost thousands of soldiers ‐ more than the US and NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
combined in Afghanistan ‐ fighting hard boyz on its territory.

This comes after the United States Congress made a significant cut to the security-oriented financial aid to Pakistain earlier this month.

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for 2019 ramped up the military spending and avoided policy changes that would have antagonized US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
In the latest NDAA, the security aid to Islamabad ‐ that had once started from almost $750 million per year to $1 billion ‐ was marked down to a mere $150 million. However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
it also relaxed certain conditions that were attached with the financial assistance, including action against the Haqqani Network and the Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
(LeT), AFP said in a report on August 3.

This crucial reduction translates into the fact that the Pentagon might not have any tools to pressurize Pakistain into taking action against the banned bad boy outfits. The US had earlier used these funds to ask Islamabad to do more with regard to the counter-terrorism operations, especially against the Haqqani Network.

Time to hit the road: Erbil-Kirkuk highway to reopen Sunday
[Rudaw] Kurdish government officials announced today that a bridge under construction will finish and the Erbil-Kirkuk highway will reopen on Sunday almost a year after it was closed following military confrontations between Iraqi and Kurdish forces around the town of Pirde.

"The road is complete," a KRG delegate involved in negotiations with Iraqi officials told Rudaaw. "Only few small things are left such as traffic signs. Hopefully it will be reopened tomorrow."

A bridge connecting Kirkuk and Erbil provinces at Pirde was blown up last October after Iraqi troops and the Peshmerga came to festivities around the town in the aftermath of the indepdenence referendum.

Kurdish and Iraqi officials held several rounds of talks in recent months to open the road and they agreed on jointly building a steel bridge in place of the one blown up last year.

The opening of the road is also seen as a sign of improving relations between Baghdad and Erbil.

KRG has spent 220 million dinars (US$180,000) on building the temporary steel bridge. The Iraqi government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are also said to dedicate a special fund for a permanent bridge.

Iraq
Five Iraqi parties to visit Kurdistan, seeking alliance with KDP and PUK
[Rudaw] An official from the Hikma movement said on Friday that they will soon announce the biggest alliance with four other Iraqi parties, adding that they will visit Kurdistan Region to convince the region’s leading parties to join.

"The political majority project is in its last stage and Hikma, Sayirun, Nasr, Wataniya and the Iraqi Forces Union will together announce the biggest faction," Mohammed Jamil Mayahi, a member of Hikma Front's presidency, told Rudaw.

Hikma is headed by Ammar al-Hakim, an Iraqi holy man who is close to Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.

Their "high level" delegations will also try to incorporate Fatih alliance and the Turkmen Front, as well as the Christian parties which hold five seats in the parliament.

Iraq held parliamentary election on May 12, but the results were disputed by those political parties which gained fewer seats than they expected. A manual recount was conducted and its results were announced last week but no change occurred in the seats.

Iraqi Federal Court is expected to approve the final results of the election in the beginning of September.

KDP and PUK have said that they have reached an agreement to attend talks over the formation of Iraqi new cabinet as one team while Kurdish opposition parties refuse to go to Baghdad unless their demands are met. "KDP and PUK have reached a good agreement to hold talks with Baghdad in a united way," added Barzani.

Mom's jitters give way to pride as Jesse Hernandez debuts as first male Saintsation
[TheAdvocate] After spending about $100 on lower-bowl tickets and driving 2½ hours from the Lafayette area, Tracey Hernandez was nervous as she took her seat near midfield of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Friday night.

It wasn’t the preseason game the Saints were about to play against Arizona that worried her ‐ the dance instructor hardly watches football. What mattered to her was how her son, Jesse, would fare in his debut as the first-ever male member of the Saintsations, New Orleans’ NFL dance team. The crowd in the stadium was the biggest Jesse had performed in front of since his dancing career began 23 years ago, at the age of 2.

, the terror group is much larger than previously thought and still poses a significant threat. Citing Defense Department figures, the report pegs the total number of ISIS fighters in Iraq at up to 17,000, and 14,000 in Syria. A soon-to-be-released report by Republican politicians, portions of which were leaked to the media, not only corroborates these numbers but also claims that intelligence provided by US Central Command (CENTCOM) overstated the success of the anti-ISIS campaign.

[ALMASDARNEWS] Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First

told his Justice and Development Party (AKP) members, today, that his nation’s military will continue their operations inside Syria.

"The operations of the Ottoman Turkish army in Jarabulus, Al Bab and Afrin will be carried out in other Syrian regions, up to the Iraqi border," Erdogan began.

Erdogan would then tell the crowd of AKP members that the Ottoman Turkish military operations will expand to Iraq’s Sinajr and Makhmur regions.

"They will also be carried out in [Iraq’s] Sinjar and Makhmur. We will eliminate the terrorist threat coming from the territory of Syria and Iraq. We will not let turbans to control zones near our southern borders," Erdogan said at the Justice and Development Party’s congress," he would add.

Since the start of August, the Ottoman Turkish military has been hammering the Sinjar region of Iraq in a bid to clear out the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) members in this mountainous area.

Girl killed in crossfire during Karachi 'encounter' died due to shot fired by police, admits DIG South
[DAWN] Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
Police on Saturday admitted that the 10-year old girl who was rubbed out during a police encounter with robbers in Defence on August 13, was killed by police fire.

Speaking at a presser, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Javed Alam Odho confirmed that it was a bullet fired by a policeman that led to the unintentional death of 10-year-old Amal and revealed that action has been taken against the coppers involved in the encounter.

The night of the incident, a police party which was on patrol was informed by a couple of families that at least two gunnies in a rickshaw were intercepting passersby and snatching their valuables at gunpoint.

"After some efforts, the police spotted two of the bandidos [in Akhtar Colony]. As our mobile van approached them, one of them fired shots at us and the situation sparked an exchange of gunfire," a police official told the media while adding that one of the bandidos was killed and the other bravely ran away.

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
when the guns fell silent after a few minutes, the girl ‐ who was passing by the area in a car along with her family ‐ was also found dead.

The DIG regretted the loss of an innocent life but added that the police had to shoot to kill the robber, otherwise, the suspect might have bumped off the policeman in question.

The bigwig disclosed that he has requested the authorities concerned to change the standard issue weapon to one other than the AK-47 rifle as this weapon usually carried by coppers is highly dangerous.

He said that the inquiry into the case has been completed and on the basis of the inquiry report, he has ordered the lodging of a First Information Report (FIR) against the policeman so further legal action can be taken.

Col. al-Maliki said that the missile was targeting the border city of Jazan and was deliberately launched to target civilian and populated areas.

"The Saudi Royal Air Defense Forces managed to intercept and destroy the rocket without suffering any casualties.

The front man added that "this hostile action by the terrorist group proves the Iranian regime’s continued involvement in supporting the Houthi militia with qualitative capabilities in a clear and explicit defiance of UN resolution 2216 and resolution 2231 aimed at threatening Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...

Al-Maliki said the firing of ballistic missiles toward densely populated cities and villages is contrary to international and humanitarian law.

The total number of ballistic missiles launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia toward Saudi Arabia so far has reached 177 rockets.

India's Looted Past And Terrorism Funding
[Jpost] The world has focused on the connection between cultural racketeering and terrorist financing with ISIS (Islamic State), but this risk extends far beyond Iraq and Syria."

The illegal antiquities trade in Iraq and Syria is booming, with the black market for looted artifacts generating millions of dollars for crime and terrorism. But the trade is generating big business in another, perhaps unexpected, location: India.

According to experts, the problem remains mostly undocumented for several reasons, including lax laws both within India and internationally, as well as the failure by world heritage bodies and governments to adequately address the issue.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Faculty At Connecticut School Sexually Abused Students For Years
[NPR.ORG] An elite boarding school in Connecticut is acknowledging sexual abuse by seven now-former staffers against 16 students — going back as far as 1969 and lasting until 1992.

The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Conn., is a private high school of about 600 students.

"For many graduates, Hotchkiss was a wonderful experience, yet a significant number of former students recounted enduring sexual abuse at the hands of faculty," according to a report from the law firm Locke Lord that was released on Friday.

The report names seven former staffers, including teachers, an athletic director, medical director and choral director. Most of those named were employed by the school for decades, some as recently as the 2000s and one in 2012. Three of them have died, the school says.

Three other adults who were "formerly part of the Hotchkiss community" are not named, but investigators found the reports of their abuse "highly credible."

Many of the instances of abuse detailed in the report focus on Leif Thorne-Thomsen, a classics teacher at the school between 1964 and 1992. He married two of his former students.

"Thorne-Thomsen abused girls who were vulnerable, a number of whom had experienced other sexual abuse earlier in life, and virtually all of whom felt they were outsiders of sorts," the report says. "Thorne-Thomsen would ingratiate himself with them by sharing personal details about his life and coax them into believing that he was relying on them for emotional support. He used the trust these students placed in him as a teacher and mentor to engage in repeated acts of sexual misconduct.

group outside a key northeast Nigeria
... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border...
n city, a militia leader and survivor told AFP on Saturday.

On Friday, around a dozen Boko Haram Islamists riding on cycle of violences stormed crop fields near Ali Goshe village, six kilometres (3.7 miles) outside the city of Maiduguri, and slit the throats of four farmers.

The attack on civilians comes as the jihadists are launching a surge of assaults against troops in Nigeria, putting the military on the back foot six months before presidential polls.

"So far we have confirmed the death of four people in the attack which happened around midday," said Ibrahim Liman, who is part of the militia taskforce fighting Boko Haram in the region.

"When the Boko Haram holy warriors came the farmers fled but the button men managed to grab four and slaughter them."

Shuaibu Boka, who was among the farmers who escaped, said the jihadists did not shoot in order to avoid attracting the attention of security forces.

"There were dozens of us tending our crops when they came on cycle of violences and we all fled in different directions," Boka said.

"When we returned much later after the button men were gone, we found four of our men slaughtered," he said, adding that the jihadists had killed the 75-year-old head of the community.

Boko Haram's nine-year quest to establish an Islamic state in Nigeria has killed over 20,000 people and displaced some 2.6 million from their homes, triggering a dire humanitarian crisis in the remote Lake Chad region.

The majority of the displaced people used to be subsistence farmers, but because of the ongoing violence they can no longer tend to their fields and rely on food handouts from aid agencies to survive.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said Friday it was providing emergency help after 33 children died of malnutrition, diarrhoea and malaria over the span of two weeks in Bama, a camp housing people displaced by the insurgency.

Agriculture in the region has been decimated by almost a decade of conflict, with locals unable to sow or cultivate crops and jihadists raiding grain stores.

But farmers have been forced to try to resume their work in areas where the military has restored relative peace to help alleviate chronic food shortages.

Boko Haram jihadists have been targeting loggers and peasant farmers, accusing them of spying and passing information to the military and the local militia fighting them.

Palestinians anxious in Gaza
In which the Egyptian government mouthpiece warns Gaza at length that they are now in deep doodoo.
[AlAhram] With the Israeli public calling for a return to targeted assassinations, and Hamas in Gaza underlining its defiance, the probability of a new escalation is increasing by the day

Gazooks are apprehensive about the fragile calm in the Gazoo Strip under sporadic Israeli air strikes, followed by counter-attacks by the Paleostinian resistance.

This leaves all options open: continued intermittent strikes, or a return to assassinating senior resistance figures, or even all-out war, especially amid growing discontent in Israel towards the government due to what Israeli media describes as a retreat in the face of Paleostinian resistance during recent confrontations in Gazoo and a failure to respond forcefully to attacks on settlements neighbouring Gazoo.

The head of the Strategic Studies Center of the Iranian Army, Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan, said, ’If the White House continues its current policies, the US will certainly face the same destiny as that of the former Soviet Union.’

Referring to the past U.S. policies toward Iran since the Islamic Revolution in 1979, the General said Washington has pursued its plots against Tehran in various ways and under different covers.

"The evident instances of the US plots are creation of the Takfiri

terrorist groups in the region and waging bio-terrorism and economic wars," he said.

Afghanistan
US military release airstrike video taken during Ghazni city clashes
[KhaamaPress] The US Military has released a new video which shows an Arclight airstrike carried out in support of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces during the festivities in Ghazni city last week.

"Afghan National Defense Security Forces repeatedly took fire from Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
fighters who ran out of the building, fired at the soldiers and then returned to the safety of the structure," the US Military said.

"In self-defense, the Afghan National Defense Security Forces requested an airstrike. After the strike, the building was severely degraded and the threat to Afghan National Defense Security Forces neutralized," according to the statement released by the US Military.

This comes as the coalition forces officials in Afghanistan had earlier saaid that more than 220 Death Eaters were killed in the airstrikes conducted by the US forces during the Taliban attack on Ghazni city.

Resolute Support front man Army Lt. Col. Martin O’Donnell in a statement said last week "From a U.S. Forces-Afghanistan perspective, U.S. airpower has killed more than 220 Taliban since August 10."

According to O’Donnell, the U.S. conducted an initial strike on Friday, and conducted five strikes on Saturday, 16 strikes on Sunday, and ten on Monday.

He said U.S. Army Apache helicopters from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Combat Aviation Brigade provided close-air support on Friday, Sunday, and Monday.

"In terms of Resolute Support assistance to the Afghan-led clearance operation, Task Force-Southeast, U.S. Special Forces and 1st Security Force Assistance Brigade advisors are providing advice on things such as clearance operations and combined-arms integration," O’Donnell added.

Man fatally shot in East Baltimore after double shooting in same area
[BALTIMORESUN] 23-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday afternoon in East Baltimore, one block from where two people were shot and maimed the previous night.

Saturday’s shooting was reported around 2 p.m. in the 2300 block of Harford Road, just north of the east side District Court on North Avenue. He was pronounced dead at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

No suspect or possible motive were identified. But the shooting happened in the same area where two men, ages 30 and 40, were shot and maimed around 10:50 p.m. on Friday. Those victims were shot in the legs and taken to area hospitals for treatment, police said.

The most recent statistics from police show more than 500 people have been shot as of Aug. 11, with the total down 12 percent from the same period last year. Homicides were down 18 percent compared to the same period last year.

I'm sure the families of the latest victims will find that heartening.(sarc/OFF)
