The Trayvon Hoax: Unmasking the Witness Fraud that Divided America
[AmericanThinker] After a painstaking investigation into the Trayvon Martin shooting, I have produced a film and written a companion book, both called The Trayvon Hoax: Unmasking the Witness Fraud that Divided America. Only after I started the project did I realize I had stumbled onto the most spectacular case of identity fraud in modern American judicial history. Thanks to the folks at American Thinker for allowing me to reveal it here for the first time.

...By examining Trayvon Martin's 750-page cell phone records which included 3,000 photos and 1,500 contacts, I got to know Trayvon in the last months of his life. I learned he was neither the rocket scientist the media made him out to be, nor was he a thug. Trayvon was a good kid with many friends and family that loved him. "Mama ’Licia" was one person Trayvon loved most. I learned what it was he was "sorry" for.

At the end, Trayvon was a very troubled teenager. I came to see his life as a series of betrayals, one more crushing than the next. His pain played out in reckless behaviors such as fighting, gun dealing, and heavy marijuana use. On the day of his death, Trayvon feared one more betrayal, this from the girl he knew as "Diamond," the girl who had stolen his fragile heart, the girl with whom he was on the phone up to the very minute he died, the girl who would emerge, in various forms, as the "star witness" in the case against George Zimmerman.

Indeed, it was 16-year-old Diamond Eugene’s recorded phone interview with Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump and ABC News that prompted George Zimmerman’s arrest and the subsequent 2013 trial.

...After speaking with Benjamin Crump, for any number of good reasons, Diamond Eugene refused to "follow the script." She refused to speak with the state prosecutors or bear false witness against George Zimmerman under oath.

Instead, the plus-sized 18-year-old Rachel Jeantel was substituted for Diamond, and Jeantel became the key witness in the murder trial of George Zimmerman. Jeantel was a fraud. She was not the "phone witness" speaking to Trayvon Martin in the minutes before he was shot. She barely knew him. This witness fraud resulted in the seminal race hoax of the Obama years. I call it "The Trayvon Hoax."
If true, this is YUGE

It does apply to all the border until the Supreme Court rules on the case.

They were both trumped by Supreme Court, which will allow the asylum restriction to remain in place until the underlying legality of the rule is determined at trial.

Booker Introduces Bill Requiring Gun Owners to Obtain 5-Year Federal License
[PJMedia] Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, has introduced legislation that would require gun owners to obtain a 5-year federal license to "buy and possess" a firearm.

The licensing process outlined in the Federal Firearm Licensing Act would be handled by the U.S. Department of Justice.

"When I put it first out it was criticized by other people in the field as going too far -- that's gun licensing -- that if you need a license to drive a car in America you should have a license to buy a gun and to own a handgun," Booker said on Tuesday at the annual Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) conference.

Booker predicted that federal licensing for firearms would lower the number of shootings that occur.

"Connecticut did it -- 40 percent drop in shootings, 15 percent drop in suicides, but this is more than just what the plan is," Booker said.

According to Booker's office, the federal license would need to be "renewed every five years, at which point the applicant would have to go through a background check and undergo firearm safety training again." The bill would grant DOJ the authority to "revoke a license if the individual poses a danger to himself/herself or others" as well as "require the DOJ to regularly conduct checks to ensure that individuals are in compliance with the federal license requirements."
The right to bear arms isn't granted by the government. The 2nd amendment isn't there for the ease of the government. It is there to tell the government that the right SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.
Keep it up and you guys will have a civil war.

Republican Lawmakers Introduce Bill to End Nationwide Legal Injunctions
h/t Instapundit
[FreeBeacon] Sen. Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) and Rep. Mark Meadows (R., N.C.) introduced legislation Wednesday to end nationwide injunctions after a California judge took action to stop a change in the Trump administration's asylum policy from going into effect.

The legislation, titled the "Nationwide Injunction Abuse Prevention Act," would prevent individual district court judges from issuing nationwide halts to new policies.

Earlier this week, a California district court judge reinstated a nationwide injunction against the Trump administration's new asylum policy, which halted its implementation. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the judge's decision Wednesday and allowed the policy to go into effect.

#6  Lex is right, remember a Republican appointee in south Texas rained havoc on Obama's executive orders re: immigration using national injunctions. I think the better practice would be to setup an automatic accelerated appeal for every national injunction. Additionally, the Trump administration should be fighting lawfare with lawfare. The DOJ should get off its ass in Washington and seek friendly judges elsewhere.

#7  The DOJ should get off its ass in Washington and seek friendly judges elsewhere.

Agreed, but I think one problem with that would be the 'institutional resistance' in the DOJ after Obama put so many of his rumpswabs on the payroll (there and everywhere else) just before he left office.

#10  How about, if a judge issues a national injunction and it's overruled by either the circuit court or SCOTUS, the judge is then taken to the white house, tarred, feathered and set on fire. So they can still issue them but only at great personal peril. And to raise money, you can watch on Pay per view.

Afghan War Continues 18 Years After 9/11 Attacks
[ToloNews] Critics said there is the possibility of a comeback by al-Qaeda if the US leaves Afghanistan.
Speechifying snipped.
Some Afghan and US experts and senators have warned of a similar 9/11 attack if the US leaves Afghanistan.

"If we left tomorrow, the Taliban

cannot be trusted to take care of ISIS
...embracing their inner Islamic Brute...

...soft-spoken senator from South Carolina, former best buddy of John Maverick McCain. Since McCain's demise, Graham has become more outspoken, more Republican and more of a supporter of President Trump. The speech he gave in support of Brett Kavanaugh was downright manly and really cheesed off the Dems...
said last week.

The former head of the National Directorate of Security
...the Afghan national intel agency...
, NDS, Mohammad Masoom Stanekzai said the obstructions which were created by some countries in the region have had left impacts on the fight against al-Qaeda in the country.

He said some elements of al-Qaeda are still operating in parts of Kunar and Paktia provinces, in the east of Afghanistan, suggesting more efforts to tackle them to avoid potential threats.

"Al-Qaeda has not been eliminated completely. This group has the power to come up with their activities in a specific time in areas where they are. There is a possibility that al-Qaeda remerges if it is not stopped," said Stanekzai.

India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Syed Akbaruddin said in the United Nations

that peace and reconciliation cannot go forward in an atmosphere of terror.

Referring indirectly to Pakistain, India has told the UN Security Council that the support and safe havens enjoyed by terror groups like the Taliban, the Haqqani Network, LeT and JeM from "beyond Afghanistan’s borders" must be addressed to fight the scourge of terrorism and ensure peace in the war-torn country.

"There is a surge of violence in Afghanistan in recent days, including threats to the election process itself. This has deepened apprehensions that acts of terror are being used to jockey for a place of advantage in the negotiating process," he said.

“The support and safe havens enjoyed from beyond Afghanistan’s borders by groups such as the Taliban, the Haqqani Network, Da’esh, as well as al-Qaeda and it's proscribed affiliates, including the Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, must be addressed,” the Indian envoy said, without naming any country.

23 security prisoners put in solitary confinement for hunger strike threat
[IsraelTimes] Inmates at Ramon facility protesting the blocking of cellphone signals in wards amid ongoing dispute over smuggled devices.

The Israel Prisons Service has put 23 security inmates in solitary confinement because they threatened to begin a hunger strike to protest the blocking of cellphone signals in their wards, Channel 12 television news reported Wednesday.

The prisoners, held at the Ramon prison, were handed the punishment over the past day.

Each of the inmates was given a hearing and ordered into solitary confinement, the IPS said.

A dispute has developed between prisoners from the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", terror group and the IPS over an agreement which had ended an earlier hunger strike by some 150 prisoners, also to protest cellphone policies. The strike began after the IPS installed cellular jamming devices in the wards to prevent prisoners from using smuggled cellphones.

Israeli officials reportedly agreed in April to install public telephones in 44 prison wards where the security prisoners are kept, and to allow prisoners to make regular, supervised calls to their families.

The phones were installed in the Ketziot and Ramon prisons but their use was conditioned on prisoners signing a commitment to stop smuggling cellphones into the prisons and to give up any devices they already have in their possession. Any violations of the agreement would lead to the public phones being disconnected.

Whereas prisoners in Ketziot signed the commitment, those in Ramon did not, Haaretz reported in August.

The IPS said in April that some 300 contraband phones, some carrying messages between terror cells, had been smuggled into the wards in the preceding months. The phones were being used to coordinate terror attacks, and had been implicated in at least 14 recent attempts at coordinating attacks from inside Israeli prisons, the IPS said at the time.

The rocket sirens went off in the town of Zikim in the first incident and then the town of Mivkaim the second time.

According to Quds, the anti-aircraft fire set off rocket sirens in southern Israel.

An IDF spokesperson confirmed that the rocket sirens were false alarms and that the siren in Zikim was caused by a needless interception attempt.

Early reports claim the strikes targeted sites near Beit Lahiya.

Earlier on Wednesday, an IDF tank attacked a Hamas post in the northern Gaza Strip in response to three rockets that were fired from Gaza, setting off rocket sirens in the towns of Yad Mordechai and Netiv Netiv Ha’asara in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council in southern Israel on Wednesday afternoon.

Paleostinian media reported conflicting reports about whether there were injuries in the IDF tank attack or not.

One rocket fell near a town near the Gaza border and another fell near a house, causing minor damage when shrapnel hit the house. The third rocket fell in an open area. No injuries were reported.

On Tuesday night, rockets were fired towards the cities of Ashdod and Ashkelon. were shot from Gaza on Tuesday night. Rocket sirens went off in Ashdod and Ashkelon at about 9 p.m. The Iron Dome intercepted one rocket while another fell in an open field near Ashkelon.

Britain
VDH: Is England Still Part of Europe?
[Townhall] British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is desperate to translate the British public's June 2016 vote to leave the European Union into a concrete Brexit.

But the real issue is far older and more important than whether 52 percent of Britain finally became understandably aggrieved by the increasingly anti-democratic and German-controlled European Union.

England is an island. Historically, politically and linguistically, it was never permanently or fully integrated into European culture and traditions.

Add South Korea, Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, and maybe Hungary and Czech when/if they exit the EU and you get to about $33 Trillion (in today's dollars) covered by the US-led Free Trade Bloc within the next 4 years.

Given the accelerated growth that this bloc will enable for its members, we will get close to producing half the world's GDP in short order.

The US is (militarily, economically) everywhere in Europe but increasingly (ethnically and culturally) - unfortunately - no longer of Europe.

If Europe turns away from its elites' obsession with eliminating its nations' various heritages and diluting the concept of national identity in order to create "global citizens", then maybe the US and Europe can make common cause.

In negotiation theory, the best alternative to a negotiated agreement or BATNA is the most advantageous alternative course of action a party can take if negotiations fail and an agreement cannot be reached.

[Townhall] Leave that poor Swedish kid alone, you climate hoax-mongering ghouls. Stop hiding behind Greta Thunberg’s Pippi Longstocking braids and come out and push your damnable globaloney warming lies yourself, jerks. Free Greta.

There’s no excuse, none, for this shameless and despicable exploitation of a vulnerable girl. What kind of person would do that to a child? The kind that considers other people collateral damage in their quest for a leftist utopia. Everyone else gets to pick up the pieces when our useless elite breaks a few eggs along the way. Big Chief Warren, Totally-Not-Doddering Joe and the rest of the Democrat clown carpool have all signed on to banning fracking, which would literally strip the livelihood from 10 million (non-blue coastal city-dwelling and Democrat-voting) Americans, so you can be sure the left won’t hesitate to sacrifice this terrified Scandinavian child to their meteorological Moloch.

Now, making her the face of the CLIMATE EMERGENCY NO TIME TO THINK HAND OVER YOUR MONEY AND YOUR FREEDOM OR DIE DIE DIE campaign does demonstrate a certain demonic brilliance. When an adult says something ridiculous, you can come back and say, "Hey stupid, that’s ridiculous." But when the climate fraudsters go all Edgar Bergan with their adolescent Charlie McCarthy, that takes off the table the kind of vicious mockery adults pushing this bogus agenda deserve.

...She’s not a visionary. She’s not magical. She’s a kid, a special kid with special needs, and despite the intensity of the feelz the adults around her have forced upon her ‐ her condition likely making her especially vulnerable to their doomsaying ‐ she has nothing of value to say about how we run our country.

Nothing, because she’s a child, and regardless of the intensity of the feelings her puppetmasters have generated within her, her policy prescriptions deserve zero attention. None. Not because she’s a bad kid. Because she’s a kid, period.

Iran says Adrian Darya tanker oil was sold at sea to private company
[Jpost] Iran's envoy to London said on Wednesday the oil cargo of tanker Adrian Darya 1 was sold at sea to a private company, denying Tehran had broken assurances it had given over the vessel, but he insisted EU's Syria sanctions did not apply to Tehran.

"At (the) meeting with the British Foreign Secretary, it was emphasized that British authorities' action against the tanker carrying Iranian oil was in violation of international law," ambassador Hamid Baeidinejad said on Twitter after being summoned in London.

"EU sanctions cannot be extended to third countries. Despite numerous threats by America, the tanker sold its oil at sea to a private company and has not violated any obligation," Baeidinejad added.

"The private company ... (which is ) the owner of the oil sets the sale destination of the oil," Baeidinejad told the state news agency IRNA.

After Bolton ouster, five vie to be Trump’s fourth national security adviser
[IsraelTimes] US President Donald Trump

said Wednesday he’s looking at five individuals to become his fourth national security adviser to replace John Bolton, the hawkish diplomat who clashed with the president on global challenges, especially Iran

The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and North Korea
...hereditary Communist monarchy distinguished by its truculence and periodic acts of violence. Distinguishing features include Songun (Army First) policy, which involves feeding the army before anyone but the Dear Leadership, and Juche, which is Kim Jong Il's personal interpretation of Marxism-Leninism, which he told everybody was brilliant. In 1950 the industrialized North invaded agrarian South Korea. Twenty-one countries of the United Nations eventually contributed to the UN force opposing the invasion, with the United States providing around 90% of the military personnel. Seventy years later the economic results are in and it doesn't look good for Juche...
"John wasn’t in line with what we were doing," Trump told news hounds in the Oval Office.

Trump insisted that he had a good relationship with Bolton, but also said, "He wasn’t getting along with people in the administration that I consider very important."

"I hope we’ve left in good stead," Trump said. "Maybe we have and maybe we haven’t."

Trump did not name the five candidates, saying only that they were "highly qualified." Deputy national security adviser Charles Kupperman, a former Reagan administration official and defense contracting executive, is running the National Security Council on an acting basis. Trump said he would name a replacement for Bolton next week.

On Wednesday, at least three longtime Bolton aides resigned from the NSC staff: front man Garrett Marquis, adviser Sarah Tinsley and his scheduler Christine Samuelian.

Since joining the administration in the spring of last year, Bolton has been skeptical about the president’s whirlwind rapprochement with North Korea, and recently has become a vocal internal critic of potential talks between Trump and leaders of the Afghan Taliban
...Arabic for students...
and Iran.

Muslim civil rights group CAIR ‘appalled’ by John Bolton’s interim replacement

[Jpost] The Council on American Islamic Relations said it was "appalled" that Charles Kupperman, who served on the board of a group that peddled conspiracy theories about Moslems, is serving as interim national security adviser.

"While we welcome the resignation of John Bolton, who has a long track record of promoting anti-Moslem policies and associating with hate groups, we cannot simply replace one Islamophobe with another," CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad said Wednesday, a day after Bolton’s abrupt departure from the post.

Kupperman served for a decade on the board of the Center for Security Policy, which peddles theories that Moslem Americans hope to institute Islamic religious law in the United States and have infiltrated American institutions and the government.

Kupperman, who is Jewish, is not likely to remain long in the job. President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
has said he intends to name a new national security adviser, which does not require Senate confirmation, as soon as next week.

In addition, Bolton hired Kupperman earlier this year as deputy national security adviser because they were in alignment on the very policies that apparently led Trump to oust Bolton, including Bolton’s opposition to diplomatic engagement with Iran.

Kupperman, 68, has worked for Republican administrations for decades. In the private sector, he has been a consultant to defense contractors.

The Anti-Defamation League has said of CAIR that “much of its activity” is in exposing anti-Muslim bias, but this is undermined by an anti-Israel agenda.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Netanyahu Annexation Pledge a Blow to Palestinians
[COURTHOUSENEWS] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s pledge to annex the heart of the West Bank if he wins re-election next week could inflame the Middle East and extinguish any remaining Paleostinian hope of establishing a separate state.

Arab leaders angrily condemned Netanyahu’s remarks Tuesday, and a U.N. front man warned the step would be "devastating" to the prospects for a two-state solution.

Netanyahu said he would extend Israeli illusory sovereignty over the Jordan Valley ‐ the breadbasket of any Paleostinian state ‐ shortly after forming a new government and would move later to annex other Jewish settlements.

Such action would swallow up most of the West Bank territory sought by the Paleostinians, leaving them with little more than isolated enclaves. Netanyahu’s announcement appeared to be aimed at shoring up support of hard-line nationalist voters.

World leaders denounced Netanyahu’s annexation promise.

Stephane Dujarric, a United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
front man, said Tuesday that any Israeli move to impose its administration over the Paleostinian territory "would be devastating to the potential of reviving negotiations, regional peace and the very essence of a two-state solution."

The Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
condemned Netanyahu’s remarks as "a serious development and an Israeli aggression" that, if carried out, amount to "an Israeli declaration for the end of the grinding of the peace processor."

Jordan’s foreign minister, Ayman Safadi, said in a statement that annexation of Israel’s West Bank settlements would fan the flames of conflict around the region

Netanyahu made no mention of what he would do with the territory’s more than 2 million Paleostinian residents.

Palestinians say Netanyahu's Jordan Valley annexation bid 'destroys all chances of peace'

[ALARABY.CO.UK] A senior Paleostinian official said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's pledge to annex the Jordan Valley if re-elected destroyed all chances of Israeli-Paleostinian peace.

"He is not only destroying the two-state solution, he is destroying all chances of peace," bigwig Hanan Ashrawi told AFP.

"This is a total game changer."

Saeb Erekat
...negotiated the Oslo Accords with Israel. He has been chief Paleostinian negotiator since 1995. He is currently negotiating with Israel to establish a de jure Paleostinian state...
, the chief Paleostinian negotiator, said the annexation would be "manifestly illegal".

He called on the international community to "act now to prevent Netanyahu and his allies from burying any remaining prospects for peace".

Earlier on Tuesday, Netanyahu said he would immediately annex the Jordan Valley, a strategically important part of the occupied West Bank, if he were re-elected on September 17.

He also reiterated his intention to annex Israeli settlements throughout the West Bank if re-elected, saying it would be done in coordination with US President Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
but without giving a time frame.

The Jordan Valley accounts for around one-third of the West Bank and Israeli right-wing politicians have long viewed the area as a part of the territory they would never retreat from.

Israeli settlements are located in what is known as Area C of the West Bank, which accounts for some 60 percent of the territory, including the vast majority of the Jordan Valley.

Netanyahu said his annexation plans would not include Paleostinian cities, such as the Jordan Valley's Jericho.

Ashrawi said the move, which would leave the Paleostinian government with self-rule over a number of cities in the West Bank, was "worse than apartheid".

"He is trying to take the land without the people and saying you are free to leave," she added.

"In every (Israeli) election we pay the price, with our rights, with our lands."

A front man for Paleostinian Islamist movement Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede, accused Netanyahu of seeking "right-wing votes by selling the illusion to his public that he can occupy Paleostinian land forever."

Separately, a senior Hamas official Bassem Naim predicted it could "lead to a kaboom".

New York Times remembers 9/11 as the day airplanes became sentient and killed 2,000
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] I count at least two problems in this since-deleted tweet. First, there is no mention of who carried out the 9/11 attacks or what motivated them. That is like writing a headline memorializing the Aug. 3 El Paso, Texas, mass shooting and not once mentioning that there was a white nationalist gunman involved.

Second, and I hate to be the one to say this, airplanes lack agency. They did not take aim or crash themselves. The snuffies flying them did.

In case you think the Times’ bizarre choice of words Wednesday morning is due to the limitations of Twitter, I am here to disabuse you of that notion. The report that this tweet linked to, titled "Remembering Those Lost 18 Years Ago on 9/11," had all the same issues.

The article's second paragraph read originally: "Eighteen years have passed since airplanes took aim at the World Trade Center and brought them down." There were also no mentions of the words "terror," "terrorist," or "terrorists" anywhere in the body of the story as it appeared originally on the Times’ website. The closest the report came to mentioning the ill intent behind Sept. 11 was when it recalls Mayor Rudy Giuliani "was heralded for his leadership as mayor of New York when it was attacked." So at least there is an admission that it was an attack, although there is no explicit admission that it was an attack by people. It might as well have been an earthquake. In its original publishing, the report's sole mention of "terror" appeared in its subhead, but nowhere in the story itself.

I am not alone in thinking this is all rather absurd. The Times editors appear to agree, at least once scolded. The article now includes at least two references to terrorism. The report's second paragraph now reads, "Eighteen years have passed since snuffies commandeered airplanes to take aim at the World Trade Center and bring them down."

Considering the role that terrorism played in the attacks, and the way in which terror shaped U.S. foreign and domestic policy for the next 18 years, it must have taken the writers more effort not to mention terrorism in an article detailing Sept. 11 memorial events than to mention it. And the readers, unwilling to spend so much energy blinding themselves about the story, had to point out the problems.

You just have to wonder to yourself: What is the motive behind all that effort?

#1  The motive is obvious: Own the narrative.

Or what NYT Editor Dean Baquet calls "the story."

As Baquet stated clearly in the recent NYT staff meeting, "the story" was Russiagate, and when that failed, "the story changed" to all racism, all the time.

There is no way to be honest, accurate and intelligent and still fit an account of jihadi mass murder into the latest NYT "story." Hence the absurd contortions.

#4  Once again the media reflects the ultimate denial or distortion of reality. They claim that planes killed nearly 3000 people on 9/11, denying that radical Muslims killed these people.

Similar attitudes are shown by the MSM when it comes to mass shootings as reflected in “guns kill people and we must control firearms” rather than acknowledging that people shoot people.

For some reason, the exception is climate change where people are at fault according to the MSM rather than climate change being a natural process that has occurred over eons of time. Were it not for climate change, we’d be living in the Ice Age.

The Language of Losing
The prophetic Mark Steyn prefaces his essay as follows:
[SteynOnline] The eighteenth anniversary of 9/11 was marked by the Administration inviting the Taliban to Camp David, and by the resignation and/or firing of John Bolton as National Security Advisor - which two events may not be unconnected. Because really, when the Taliban are running around Camp David, who needs national security?

For the fifteen years after the launch of SteynOnline in 2002, we re-posted every year on this date material of mine from September 11th 2001 and the days we followed. Two years ago, we ceased that policy, for reasons I discussed on Clubland Q&A:

If this is a war, there's no agreement on what we're up against: Terrorism? Islamic terrorism? Islamic extremism? Islam? Whatever it is, a president who, on the campaign trail, mocked his predecessor's inability to use the words "radical Islam" himself eschewed all mention of the I-word today. September 11th 2001 was supposedly "the day everything changed" - if by "everything changed" you mean "the rate of mass Muslim immigration to the west doubled". As that absurd statistic suggests, we are not where I thought we would be 16 years on: We run around fighting for worthless bits of barren sod like Helmand province in Afghanistan, while surrendering day by day some of the most valuable real estate on the planet, such as France and Sweden.

That last point may seem obvious. But, if it is, it's a truth all but entirely unacknowledged by anyone who matters in the western world. I subsequently expanded on it, in a piece we called "The Language of Losing" and which appears to have been succeeded by "The Actions of Losers" - such as inviting the Taliban to Camp David. Hey, why not for the ceremonies in Lower Manhattan? On yet another wretched anniversary I mourn not only the dead of that grim day, but our loss of purpose. All that has changed two years on is that for "sixteenth anniversary" we substitute "eighteenth" - and on and on into the future:

#2  The problem with Steyn's post is that he lumps the west in together as if the US is responsible for French territory. yes the US has botchd the war on terror in many ways but failing to defend France is not one of them. That's the French's job and they are a first world western industrialized nation fully capable of doing so if they so desire.

High-ranking Saudi jihadist commander assassinated in eastern Idlib

Govt will never strike a deal with Fazlur Rehman: interior minister
[DAWN] Interior Minister retired Brig Ijaz Ahmad Shah on Wednesday said that the government will never strike a deal with Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...Assembly of Islamic Clergy, or JUI, is a Pak Deobandi (Hanafi) political party. There are two main branches, one led by Maulana Fazlur Rahman, and one that was led by Maulana Samiul Haq. Fazl is active in Pak politix and Sami spent more time running his madrassah until his secretary rubbed him out in a jealous rage. Both branches sponsor branches of the Taliban, though with plausible deniability...
-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman
...Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty...
and was confident that his call for a march on Islamabad will not be met with the kind of response Rehman seeks.

"People will not join Fazlur Rehman in this exercise," the interior minister declared in an exclusive interview with DawnNewsTV.

He went on to say that not only will there be no deal, but the JUI-F chief will himself lose interest and back off from the idea.

The interior minister said that he respects Rehman, "as he is, after all, a religious scholar," but questioned the wisdom of such a move "when India has its hands over our jugular vein (Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
Brig Shah expressed conviction that the government will not only prevail in this term but will succeed in getting re-elected for another. "In the next four years, Pakistain will witness substantial improvements," he added.

He said that the condition the country was currently in could not be blamed on one individual. "The ruling class has destroyed Pakistain," he said, holding all previous governments equally responsible.

Sununu: Joe Biden ‘Confused,’ ‘Useless’ During Clarence Thomas Confirmation
[BREITBART] Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...Failed seeker of the Democratic presidential nomination on multiple occasions, vice president under Barack Obama, giving it a last try in his dotage for 2020...
was reportedly "confused" and "useless" as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee during the confirmation hearings of Clarence Thomas, according to the chief of staff of late-President George H.W. Bush.

John Sununu, who as Bush’s chief of staff from 1989 to 1991 oversaw Thomas’s confirmation, told the Washington Examiner on Saturday that Biden was paralyzed by inaction during the episode, especially after Anita Hill came forward to level accusations of sexual harassment against the then-nominee. In particular, according to Sununu, Biden struggled with whether or not to allow Hill to testify in front of his committee about the purported harassment.

"One of the reasons it got so difficult is that the chairman of the committee was relatively useless," Sununu said of the former vice president, before adding Biden "was confused" throughout the entire process.

"He didn’t know whether he wanted to do the right thing or whether he wanted to cave in to the liberals that were trying to really, in a very disgraceful way, ruin the reputation of a very good man, currently Justice Thomas," he said.

Biden, who at the time was serving his first stint as chairman of the judiciary committee, eventually did "cave in to" the pressure and allowed Hill a platform upon which to speak. Hill’s testimony, however, did not sink Thomas, but only served to muddy the initial accusations and divide large segments of the country.

Biden, himself, voted against Thomas, but admitted to a colleague in 1998 that he believed Hill "was lying" given the way in which she answered questions in front of the committee. Despite the admission, Biden has sought to downplay his role in Thomas’s confirmation in recent months.

Shortly after before announcing his campaign, Biden reached to Hill directly to offer "regret" for the manner in which she was treated during the confirmation. The former vice president offered a broader apology of sorts in late-April during an interview with ABC’s Good Morning America.

"I believed her from the very beginning, but I was chairman. She did not get a fair hearing. She did not get treated well. That’s my responsibility," Biden said at the time. "As the committee chairman, I take responsibility that she did not get treated well."

The Houthis' TV channel al-Masirah reported last month that the rebel leader's brother Ibrahim Badreddine Amir al-Din al-Houthi had been "assassinated at the hands of traitors" working for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Iran-backed Houthis said their intelligence wing had killed Mohammad Ali Qaid Dawi, 54, in "a successful intelligence operation" in the city of Marib, deep inside territory held by the internationally-recognized Yemeni government, which is supported by Saudi Arabia.

The Houthis said their investigations had proved Dawi had links to "the Saudi enemy".

Ilhan Omar recounts ‘complete horror’ of 9/11 attacks in somber video

‐ who previously sparked outrage with a comment minimizing the 9/11 terror attacks ‐ posted a somber video on Twitter on Wednesday commemorating the anniversary and recounting the "complete horror" she and her family felt following the terror attacks.

"On September 11th we experienced one of the most horrific terrorist attacks that we have ever lived through as a nation. Today, we remember the victims, the first responders and their loved ones. #Neverforget," the Minnesota Democrat wrote on the post, which included the nearly minute-long video.

"I was 18 years old when that happened. I was in a classroom in college and I remember rushing home after being dismissed and getting home and seeing my father in complete horror as he sat in front of that TV. And I remember just feeling, like the world was ending," said Omar, who, along with Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib, are the only two Moslem women in Congress.

"The events of 9/11 were life-changing, life-altering for all of us," she said. "My feeling around it is one of complete horror. None of us are ever going to forget that day and the trauma that we will always have to live with."

And then their neighborhood mullahs told them to be of good cheer. And carry posters and hug passersby and make a shew of praying for victims.

You may read the articles now of indignant reminiscence of 'the terrible times faced by American muslims after 9/11', when they had to act against instinct to show false loyalty for months. Until a compromised media and the deepState conveniently steered conversation and attention to other matters.

ABC News Warns Democrat Presidential Candidates to ‘Avoid Expletives’ During 2020 Debate
[BREITBART] ABC News producers sent an email to Democrats ahead of Thursday’s 2020 Democrat presidential debate, warning candidates to avoid expletives.

Citing FCC guidelines for broadcast television, ABC sent guidance to 2020 Democrat candidates through the Democrat National Committee, according to two CNN news hounds.

Interesting wrinkle to debate prep this week.. @RebeccaBuck and I have learned that @ABC through the DNC has sent the campaigns all an email asking their candidates to "avoid cursing or expletives in accordance with federal law and FCC guidelines."

ABC News noted in the memo that the debate would be broadcast without a delay, which would not allow them to edit out foul language.

Former Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke;
...Kennedyeque businessman, musician, skateboard artiste, and politician who represented Texas' 16th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 2013 to 2019. Beto is a Latino nickname for people whose names end in "erto," like "Roberto" or "Alberto." He is seeking the Dem nomination for President in 2020 because he has nice hair and lots of teeth. He was born into a local political family in El Paso, Texas and is a graduate of a prep school and Columbia University, which is not in Texas. In 2005, he was elected to the El Paso City Council. He was elected to Congress in 2012 after defeating eight-term incumbent Silvestre Reyes in the Democratic primary. He declined to seek re-election in 2018, instead running for the Senate against Republican Ted Cruz, running a campaign that drew national attention because of his skateboarding skills. A few months after he lost, he announced his campaign for President...
has received media attention for his use of the f’word in recent weeks to react to mass shootings and guns in America.

His preference for profanity led to his campaign releasing a t-shirt to cement his use of the word to talk about mass shootings.

He also spoke on a podcast with Jemele Hill about his appreciation for the word fuckstick.

Even the more restrained Mayor Pete Buttigieg
..the testicleless mayor of South Bend, Indiana, since 2012. Buttigieg graduated from Harvard College and, on a Rhodes Scholarship, from Pembroke College, Oxford. From 2007 to 2010, he worked at McKinsey and Company, a consulting firm. From 2009 to 2017 Buttigieg served as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve, attaining the rank of lieutenant and deploying to Afghanistan in 2014. Buttigieg was first elected mayor of South Bend in 2011 and was reelected in 2015. During his second term, he announced he was gay. Buttigieg also campaigned for Indiana state treasurer in 2010 and for chair of the Democratic National Committee in 2017, losing both elections. He is running for the Dem nomination in 2020 on the theory that being mayor of a nondescript medium sized city is qualification to run the country...

Terror Networks
Al Qaeda leader calls for new terror attacks against US, allies
[NYPOST] Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri
...Formerly second in command of al-Qaeda, now the head cheese, occasionally described as the real brains of the outfit. Formerly the Mister Big of Egyptian Islamic Jihad. Bumped off Abdullah Azzam with a car boom in the course of one of their little disputes. Is thought to have composed bin Laden's fatwa entitled World Islamic Front Against Jews and Crusaders. Currently residing in the North Wazoo area assuming he's not dead like Mullah Omar. He lost major face when he ordered the nascent Islamic State to cease and desist and merge with the orthodox al-Qaeda spring, al-Nusra...
called for Islamic murderous Moslems to strike at the US, Israel and their "Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an allies" in a new video tied to the 18th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

In an Arabic-language speech addressed to "Moslem brothers the world over," al-Zawahiri urged his followers to be "inventive and creative" as they concoct their diabolical plans.

"The interests of Israel and its American, British, French, Russian, and European allies are spread all over the world," he said, according to an English-language transcript distributed with the video.

"So just as they conspire and join forces against us everywhere, we must chase them down everywhere ‐ at a time and place of our choosing."

Al-Zawahiri noted that that "18 years have passed since the blessed raids in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania" and also appeared to reference President Trump’s recent decision to cancel secret peace talks with the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
"The Islamic Emirate dealt severe blows to America. This is why the Americans showed keenness to negotiate with them a withdrawal from Afghanistan," he said.

The 33-minute recording was discovered Wednesday morning by Raphael Gluck, co-founder of JihadOScope, a company that monitors terrorist communications on the Web and elsewhere.

The video ‐ produced by al Qaeda’s propaganda arm, "Al Sahab Media" ‐ was uploaded to several Internet cloud-computing storage sites after being "teased" in messages posted Tuesday on the encrypted Telegram app, he said.
The Times of Israel adds:
SITE Intelligence Group, which tracks online activity of jihadist groups, reported that in a video released by the militant group, the 68-year-old al-Zawahri also criticizes “backtrackers” from jihad, referring to former jihadis who changed their views in prison and called the 9/11 attacks unacceptable because innocent civilians were harmed.

“If you want Jihad to be focused solely on military targets, the American military has presence all over the world, from the East to the West,” he said. “Your countries are littered with American bases, with all the infidels therein and the corruption they spread.”

As an indicator of when the speech may have been recorded, al-Zawahri references US President Donald Trump’s recognition of the Golan Heights as Israeli territory, which was announced on March 25. He calls on Palestinians to seek “martyrdom” by attacking Israelis with a suicide vest in response.

IntelBrief: 18 Years After the 9/11 Attacks, What is the Current State of Al-Qaeda?
[TheSoufanCenter] Bottom Line Up Front:
  • Eighteen years after the al-Qaeda terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the group has evolved and looks much different today than it did nearly two decades ago.

  • The influence of al-Qaeda core and its senior leadership hiding in Pakistan has been reduced, while franchise groups have grown in prominence.

  • The story of post-bin-Laden al-Qaeda has primarily been driven by the group’s attempt to remain relevant in Syria and its competition with the Islamic State.

  • Over the past several years, al-Qaeda leadership has released a steady stream of messages that reiterated the importance of the global struggle and urged its followers to launch strikes against the West.

#3  Does not compute. Either their information is wonky or the Soufan center is a questionable source.

Over 120,000 qaeda are distributed over Pakistain, Afghanistan, Syria, Somalia, Yemen, India and Iran. At least 4000 are middling and coordinator ranks. The highest ranks, wannabe emirs, notably called Bin Ladenites by certain idiots who coined the term Bin ladenism, are individuals with red corner notices and wanted 'dead or alive' in most nations.

The real work is done by the middlemen, those with valid passports and relatives or sympathizers in the respective LEOs of the region they operate in.

I think some people may want to drive home the idea that the Al-qaeda is defeated, even Hamza is dead, and the revenge of 9/11 is more or less complete.

In reality, islamic organizations like AQ evolve, splinter, regroup and reorganize almost every week. The decentralized guerilla warfare theme of jihad allows the individuals in the global army to swarm in places it sees convenient. Places that are not attended to by security agencies for long, for corruption or liberal mores or whatever. Places that offer lower structuring costs, lower risks and high connectivity via road, communications etc. Port cities are a plus. Allows movement of major equipment. Black or muslim mayors are a plus, allowing legal protection and support.

Real intel.

Al-Qaeda is known to be the one branch of jihad that was run from the top according to Harvard business checklists, with real MBAs and commerce graduates in the hierarchy managing legal to laundering departments. It gives the impression of being a rag head militia but has rapidly evolved during the rise of the ISIS into a more subtle lawfaring and kingmaking ally for islamist factions in smaller countries, milking them for funds and recruiting unemployed hooligans while helping construct schools and masjids. You will not find a single link tying muslim TV preachers and imams to AQ, or liberal professors, school teachers and actors who advocate freedom of religion to the middle managers of AQ, but if you follow donations to educational foundations, research groups, think tanks; investments and partnerships in the movie and TV business - if you follow the money things become more apparent.

The Ansar al Sharia in Yemen, set up under Nasser Wuhayshi as an aid group is Al-Qaeda. Mukhtar Abu Zubeyr was the AQ leader for Somalia, thankfully vaporized by a drone in 2014. 4000 fighters from that faction joined up with a splinter of Al shabaab to form the Sharia Army of Soomali Liberation. Then there's the Al Nusra Front in Syria, which lost 17,000 fighters from 2014 till date, but is still recruiting and putting out videos of world domination from their shithole. They still boast 15,000-20,000 fighters recruited from all over the world, as far as Chinese Uighurs. As I've said before, the taliban are primarily a mercenary outfit and work for the AQ when called upon, protecting their preachers, offing rivals and moderates or officials, but never directly deal with AQ. The Pak ISI serves as agents for this. Apart from that, the Laskar e jhangvi, Harkat ul Mujaheddin and a half dozen other sasquatch groups are all AQ. They change names everyday to help their protectors and facilitators avoid sanctions and freezes. Since Imran Khan, they seem to have donned a garb of sainthood for a while, distributing blankets, paying for tuitions of orphans etc.

In 2016, we had the lamentable opportunity to sift through the evidence pouring in from all corners. In India, the AQSIS is still a threat and their connections and finances heavily documented and tracked. We found that almost all casualties to the AQ after their massive defeat in 2007, have come from the American SOG teams, with no help from host nations actually despite interference from them and the UN. A few actions by 'Potty Mouth' Duterte in the Philippines and the Chink crackdown on the Uighurs, besides our own raids into POK and the everyday shit in Kashmir, but that's all.

The AQ is very much alive and kicking. Their influence has not reduced, it has in fact diversified to stay relevant. The low profile right now is to help Pakistain recover from the FATF blacklist and the US disappointment in them as a $$ sinkhole 'viable ally in the WOT'.

Government
Supreme Court Wednesday allows nationwide enforcement of asylum limits
SCOTUS to Hack-In-Black Judge John Tigar: "Fuck Off"
[Ay-Pee] The Supreme Court is allowing nationwide enforcement of a new Trump administration rule that prevents most Central American immigrants from seeking asylum in the United States.
Wait til Ruth Buzzy dies off and Trump replaces her
The justices' order late Wednesday temporarily undoes a lower-court ruling that had blocked the new asylum policy in some states along the southern border. The policy is meant to deny asylum to anyone who passes through another country on the way to the U.S. without seeking protection there.

Most people crossing the southern border are Central Americans fleeing violence and poverty. They are largely ineligible under the new rule, as are asylum seekers from Africa, Asia and South America who arrive regularly at the southern border.

The shift reverses decades of U.S. policy. The administration has said that it wants to close the gap between an initial asylum screening that most people pass and a final decision on asylum that most people do not win.

"BIG United States Supreme Court WIN for the Border on Asylum!" Trump tweeted.

Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor dissented from the high-court's order.
OF course
"Once again, the Executive Branch has issued a rule that seeks to upend longstanding practices regarding refugees who seek shelter from persecution," Sotomayor wrote.

The legal challenge to the new policy has a brief but somewhat convoluted history. U.S. District Judge Jon Tigar in San Francisco blocked the new policy from taking effect in late July. A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals narrowed Tigar's order so that it applied only in Arizona and California, states that are within the 9th Circuit.

That left the administration free to enforce the policy on asylum seekers arriving in New Mexico and Texas. Tigar issued a new order on Monday that reimposed a nationwide hold on asylum policy. The 9th Circuit again narrowed his order on Tuesday.
He doesn't learn easy
The high-court action allows the administration to impose the new policy everywhere while the court case against it continues.

Nationwide Injunction Against Trump’s Asylum Ban Lifted Again Tuesday by Ninth Circuit

[LAWANDCRIME] A federal appeals court on Tuesday temporarily rolled back the nationwide injunction preventing the Trump Administration’s asylum ban ‐ requiring any migrants colonists passing through Central America to seek asylum in one the nations they pass through before applying in the U.S. from taking effect.

In response to a "Renewed Emergency Motion" submitted by the Justice Department, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals issued an administrative order granting the government’s request to stay the nationwide injunction put in place Monday night by U.S. District Court Judge Jon Tigar of Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,. Tigar reasoned that a nationwide injunction was necessary because of the need to "maintain uniform immigration policy."

Following Tuesday’s ruling, the administration’s asylum ban will take effect everywhere outside the Ninth Circuit’s jurisdiction ‐ which includes border states Arizona and California, as well as Guam, Idaho Hawaii, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington ‐ until the appeals court is able to reach a decision on the merits of the case.

The Grand Turk
Saudi hit-squad reveals new details of Khashoggi murder
[ALARABY.CO.UK] A Ottoman Turkish newspaper has published new details about the team that carried out the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi last October.

The Daily Sabah’s Ottoman Turkish newspaper released a report that had testimonies from those involved in the liquidation, some of whom explicitly attempted to cover up the role of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman
...Crown Prince of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
as of 2016....

in the operation.

According to the report, Ahmed Asiri, deputy chief of Saudi intelligence, tried to protect former adviser to the Royal Court Saud al-Qahtani, dubbed as Saudi Arabia’s Steve Bannon, and bin Salman after the murder.

Asiri had tried to hide any trace of bin Salman’s involvement, stressing the details of the trials "show the role played by Mansour Abu Hussein, and that bin Salman was the top commander of the murder."

According to Daily Sabah, Abu Hussein, an official in charge of the team responsible for Khashoggi’s murder said in a testimony that he had contacts with Asiri and al-Qahtani, who asked him to bring Khashoggi to Saudi Arabia.

"Asiri spoke to me and ordered me to bring Khashoggi by force to Saudi Arabia, and I set up three separate groups for this mission: intelligence, negotiation, logistics", he said in a statement.

He added the intent was to kidnap Khashoggi if he refused to leave with them.

A conflicting statement came from Maher Abdulaziz Mutreb, a Saudi intelligence officer who said the plan was to kill Khashoggi if he did not comply.

He said that after touring the consulate, he realised it would be difficult to kidnap Khashoggi and to take him out of the consulate inconspicuously, so killing him was their only other resort.

"After we killed him, we initially wanted to bury the body in the consulate’s garden, but we decided to dismember him so his corpse is untraceable", he said.

The report added that Khashoggi was killed with narcotics and then dismembered.

A man who posed as Khashoggi after he was murdered admitted to wearing his clothes and glasses so security footage had "evidence" of Khashoggi leaving the consulate.

"I wore Jamal’s clothes and glasses to show he came out of the consulate", said team member Mohammed al-Madani, who posed as Khashoggi.

"I then went into Sultan Ahmet Square and in one of the toilets I changed back into my clothes and I threw away Jamal's clothes and glasses," he added.

New State Department Documents Reveal Last-Minute Efforts by Obama State Department to Undermine President Trump
[JUDICIALWATCH.ORG] Judicial Watch today released 90 pages of heavily redacted U.S. Department of State documents showing Obama State Department officials’ efforts to disseminate classified information to multiple U.S. Senators immediately prior to President Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
’s inauguration. The information, which included raw intelligence, purported to show "malign" Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. Among the senators receiving the classified documents were Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD), and Sen. Robert Corker (R-TN).

Judicial Watch obtained the documents through a June 2018 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed against the State Department after it failed to respond to a February 2018 request seeking records of the Obama State Department’s last-minute efforts to share classified information about Russia election interference issues with Democratic Senator Ben Cardin (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:18-cv-01381)).

A January 13, 2017, email from Hera Abbasi, a former congressional advisor in the State Department’s Bureau of Legislative Affairs, suggests that the intelligence community was providing "raw intel" to Sen. Warner. Such an exchange almost certainly would have been coordinated by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI): "Yes, that is correct. Warner/raw intel stuff is going thru IC channels." (Abbasi previously worked in Speaker Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi
Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. On-again-off-again Speaker of the House. It's not her fault when they lose, but it's her accomplishment when they win. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace and occasional senior... uhhh... moments...
’s office and was a 2017 Next Generation National Security Fellow at the liberal Center for a New American Security. Abbasi donated $725 to the Clinton campaign and Act Blue during the 2016 election cycle.)

The documents uncovered by Judicial Watch show early in the process of gathering and clearing classified information ‐ beginning a day after Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) formally asked Attorney General John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, unsuccessful presidential candidate, and utterly failed Secretary of State...
for "intelligence products" and "raw intelligence" on Russian involvement in the 2016 election ‐ Assistant Secretary of State Julia Frifield brings Senior Advisor and Investigations Counsel Zachary Schram into the loop in a January 5, 2017, email chain, in which she says Schram would help "figure out the best way to get these to the Hill." Frifield was an Obama appointee who previously served as Maryland Democratic Senator Barbara Mikulski’s Chief of Staff. (Frifield contributed $2,700 to the 2016 Clinton campaign.)

On January 11, 2017, former State Department Senior Congressional Advisor Katherine Harris sends an email to Abbasi; Naz Durakoglu, who was a senior advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an and Eurasian Affairs; Kathleen Kavalec, and others: "If we are not going through our standard CDP [Collection Due Process] process, others in H need to weigh in on how to move these to the Hill."

In emails written on January 10 and 11, 2017, from Abbasi to Durakoglu and Kavalec, Abassi expresses the need to get the documents cleared "as soon as possible (ASAP)."

Former Darfur Janjaweed leader faces military trial in Sudan
[ALARABY.CO.UK] A Sudanese military court on Tuesday resumed proceedings against the former leader of the notorious Janjaweed militias accused of war crimes and genocide in the Darfur conflict.

The Revolutionary Awakening Council (RAC), founded by former Janjaweed chief Musa Hilal, has slammed the military trial.

The RAC alleges that Hilal and dozens of his followers are held as political prisoners and should not be subject to court martial.

Judge rejects new trial in Gibson's case; documents detail settlement attempts
Yesterday’s story translated into non-legal language.
[CHRONICLET] A judge on Tuesday denied Oberlin College a new trial to once again defend itself in the case brought by the Gibson family and Gibson's Bakery over the college's behavior during student protests nearly three years ago.

Lorain County Common Pleas Judge John Miraldi rejected not only a new trial, but also a request by the Gibsons that he award an additional $105,000 in interest on top of the already-awarded damages, according to court documents.

According to Miraldi's ruling, Ohio law allows the trial court to grant a new trial when one of the parties ‐ the Gibsons ‐ has been awarded "excessive or inadequate damages" given "under the influence of passion or prejudice."

That's not the case here, Miraldi found. In his ruling, he stated that the damages awarded the Gibsons were "not manifestly excessive" nor "influenced by passion or prejudice."

In a one-page ruling, Miraldi rejected Oberlin College's motion for "judgment notwithstanding the jury's verdict," which would have overturned the jury's verdict. He also rejected the Gibsons' request for additional interest on top of the damages already awarded, finding that Oberlin College did not act in bad faith during settlement negotiations that took place between January and June.

A jury awarded the Gibsons more than $44 million in compensatory and punitive damages after a six-week trial that ended in June. Miraldi reduced that amount to $25 million due to caps on damages in Ohio law and later awarded the Gibsons more than $6.5 million in attorney fees.

#1  Oberlin's going down. Admit rate is now twice as high as for other selective liberal arts colleges. Yield rate is now half as high.

Their reputation is fast becoming a joke among the wealthy families on whom, increasingly, they will have to depend and who have many better choices for where to spend their $300,000 total 4-year college budget.

Revenues from tuition will likely not cover operating costs, given that they will lose on appeal and be forced to pay a massive judgment which their insurers have already signaled they will not cover.

An intervention is desperately needed.

#4  The main points, nearly everyone misses:
(a) Higher education should not be a way to earn more money.

(c) The worst kind of people to advance academically are the strait A students.

I disagree! Higher education should be to raise the productivity of the learner enough to pay the debt and more.

#8  Nonsense. Once higher education became equated with higher income, everybody started pushing into it - which led to lowering (if not virtual disappearance) of standards, everybody (but AOCs who benefit from degrees) bemoans.
Nowadays we have high school teachers too dumb to wash floors, and university professors who haven't had an original thought in their minds since the age of 2.

#9  Then they simply shouldn't go (or university is not the place to offer that training).

Learning as a whole should be funded on the premise it raises wages AKA market-productivity.

At 10,000 taxpayer dollars per student per year I'd guess most pupils don't pay back their 13 years of school subsidies.

#13  In my experience, high schools push college as if there is no other worthy goal. They neglect practical skills and vocational training. Today's high school graduate is qualified for absolutely nothing but the most menial types of unskilled labor and a lot of them have trouble with that. If they want to become electricians, beauticians or auto mechanics they have to go to a private trade school after high school. The question then becomes: Why not skip high school and go directly to the trade school?

If you want to be a doctor, lawyer, engineer or scientist then you should go to college. Otherwise, you might have better luck as a brick layer. Skip that four or five years of non-productive education, skip all that debt and get on with your life. Skip a couple years of high school as well. You'll never miss it.

#14  I think to be honest a few years of learning how the real world works is great for motivating people to learn.

Once people stop school they seldom return.

might be best to keep some people who could learn later in.

There's a massive amount wrong with university education for the masses, especially taxpayer subsidised. But the alternative just hasn't emerged, (mainly because of the subsidies for incumbents and tax structures) but you go to war on ignorance with the teachers you've got.

#15  1. Stop this insanity of pushing 70% of the 18 year-old population to go on to college. Most people simply lack the ability to do advanced college work. By pushing them to go to college, you are either degrade the value of college or demoralize the underprepared, or both.

No more than 20% of the population should be allowed to do actual college work i.e. explore ideas in the arts and sciences (science today is so intertwined with engineering that these fields are almost interchangeable).

2. Convert the majority of our failing 2nd- and 3rd-rate small private colleges - Moody's says 25% of all colleges are on the edge of bankruptcy; there are literally thousands of them - to vocational training centers or trade schools.

3. Beef up middle school and 9th and 10th grade English and Math, and allow kids to leave secondary school and enter a vocational school after 10th grade.

4. For the college/university-bound 20%, limit their choices to no more than FIVE schools. End the massive admissions fraud created by "holistic admissions" practices that seek to m"build the class" with "well-rounded applicants" who've built hospitals in Nicaragua and raised funds for transgendered Venusians and overcame adversity to become captain of their Instagram Yachting Team etc etc.

Force any college or university to evaluate the applicants solely on merit defined by standardized test scores on the SAT/ACT plus 3 Subject Tests; interviews with actual tenured professors; and least important, high school grades. This is the U.K. model of university admissions, and it works beautifully, with no corruption and without triggering grade inflation and the ridiculous college prep arms race

5. Watch our nation's productivity soar as real merit and intellectual curiosity become the standards by which we promote young people to the leading professions.

Watch the economy take off as millions of our young people who can't handle college are trained for useful and well-paid
trades.

Watch the insane growth in college loan indebtedness finally begin to clear and offer young people some hope of leaving mom's basement, getting a useful job and starting a family.

#16  In my experience, high schools push college as if there is no other worthy goal.

In my experience* the rot starts in K-12. A lot of people would be better off to learn a profession via apprenticeship after the 8th grade. And a lot of teachers shouldn't be allowed near kids. And school programs - formulated by the best education psychologists - are (intentionally or not) serve to suppress and alienate the 1 in 1000 students capable of independent and creative thinking.

Today's high school graduate is qualified for absolutely nothing but the most menial types of unskilled labor and a lot of them have trouble with that.

And overwhelming majority is unsuited to university studies. Because they don't learn - they're trained to solve exams - like circus animals are trained to perform - and to complain until their grades are raised. And they continue the same way when they reach college**. And because of these complaints teaching standards constantly decrease - try actually teaching and see what'll happen to you. And don't start me on research that (present day) straight A students do after they reach tenure. .

*I've taught elective courses in TAU and Weizmann Institute. I've taught high school math/chemistry/biology as sub teacher. I've taught calculus in equivalent of US community college. I give private lessons. I've worked for an private lesson via Internet company were I would teach a first grader counting on fingers and a twelve grader calculus or quantum chemistry within a single hour.
Until recently, when the field collapsed because of a bunch of new firms offering the same service (MBAs are sheep), I derived most of my income by writing students' term papers.
I've more/diverse teaching experience than any school teacher or university professor you ever met.

**Ever wondered why so many make false complains: sexual harassment, racism, genderism? Look at their grades before and after the complaint.

IN SUMMARY: If we were secretly ruled by a bunch of aliens determined to dumb down human race - nobody wants a but of too smart slaves, what would they do differently?

#18  What grom said.

Everyone who's tutored or taught reasonably ambitious young people has come to the same conclusion as academic psychology researchers who study intelligence: there is a bell curve distribution of cognitive ability, and it is pointless and counterproductive to pretend that most people can do advanced analysis of abstract concepts.

The goal is NOT to enable everyone to do advanced math and analysis of abstract ideas. That's a fool's errand that has made education the most f---ed up part of our society.

The goal should be to create a society in which nobody is a nobody, and everyone belongs and is valued because of his or her meaningful contribution. And in which the brilliant people are enabled to explore and rise as far as their curiosity and talents will take them.
Posted by: Lex || 09/12/2019 13:07 Comments || Top||

#19  there is a bell curve distribution of cognitive ability,

There are also bell curve distributions for other equally important abilitys. The key one I noticed in the IT classes I taught was diligence aka motivation. There are a surprising number of smart folks that don't give enough of a shit to actually work hard.
Posted by: AlanC || 09/12/2019 14:00 Comments || Top||

#20  Yes, there are multiple bell curves for multiple dimensions of personality, of which cognitive intelligence is just one.

The psychologists describe diligence/motivation as "Conscientiousness."

Interesting: the ex-Google engineer, James Damore, highlighted this trait in his letter to Google HR about the desired traits for Google engineers. Famore noted that the vast majority of engineers at Google are involved in maintenance of code that a handful of more brilliant engineers wrote, optimizations of minor things, etc.

Most engineers hired by Google therefore need to be exceptionally "conscientious" (academic psych-speak) or diligent (your phrasing). They do NOT need to be exceptionally intelligent, let alone brilliant.

Also interesting: Conscientiousness tends to be associated with politically conservative people. Damore noted also that women tend to score much higher on another of the five main dimensions, what the psychologists call "Neuroticism" or what most people would call, using a less, uh, emotionally-loaded term, simple emotionalism.

Damore noted that the ideal maintenance engineer ie the basic description of the vast majority of Google engineers is simple who is extremely HIGH on the Conscientious dimension, LOW on the Neurotic dimension, and above average on Cognitive Intelligence. A highly conscientious person completes tasks even when they're boring or distasteful.

This describes to a T most of your apolitical (or politically conservative) male programmer types who work hard enough to get through a rigorous CS program. It does NOT describe the vast majority of women college grads, or even most women CS grads.

For this lucid, eminently reasonable observation, Damore was fired.

of Kashmiris, through startling methods of violence and under the cover of media blackout, the global practice of Moslem repression has now reached new heights.

Alongside China, which has imprisoned perhaps more than 1 million Uighur and other Moslems in its "re-education camps," the world can now bear witness that its two most populous countries - comprising more than a third of the global population - have made the subjugation and repression of Moslems a cruel element of their ongoing nation-building projects.

India irked over reference to occupied Kashmir in Pak-China joint statement
[DAWN] India is irked by the reference to Indian Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
e in a joint statement issued by Pakistain and China following Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's visit to Pakistain on September 7-8, The Hindu newspaper reported.

According to The Hindu, Indian External Affairs Ministry front man Raveesh Kumar on Tuesday rejected the Pak-China joint statement and called on Pakistain and China to stop China-Pakistain Economic Corridor (CPEC) related activities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Boat carrying $4.3M worth of weed washes up on San Diego coast
[NYPOST] A small boat carrying $4.3 million worth of marijuana washed ashore on the coast of San Diego last weekend, according to a report.

The motorboat with more than 1,000 pounds of reefer ended up on a beach between Carlsbad and Oceanside about 6:30 a.m. Sunday, the Oceanside Police Department told NBC 7.
$4300/lb at wholesale? Not likely
Witnesses on the beach said they saw two people flee the boat and run south along the shoreline after the vessel crashed onto the sand, the report said.

As of Tuesday, no arrests have been made.

"I was really surprised to see a drug smuggling boat here in Carlsbad," Zachary Boyer, who witnessed authorities unload the drugs, told the cable network.

"I noticed a few cops around," Boyer said. "Then when they started unloading the bundles of marijuana, we knew it was something different."

"They were throwing bundle after bundle of marijuana off the boat."

The president spoke at a memorial ceremony at the Pentagon on the eighteenth anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks that killed nearly 3,000 Americans.

"We come here in the knowledge that we cannot erase the pain or reverse the evil of that dark and wretched day," Trump said. "But we offer you all that we have ‐ our unwavering loyalty, our undying devotion, and our eternal pledge that your loved ones will never, ever be forgotten."

Trump also addressed his canceled peace talks with the Taliban

"The last four days we have hit our enemy harder than they have ever been hit before. And that will continue," the president asserted. And I’m not even talking about nuclear power. They will never have seen anything like what will happen to them. The Masjid Al Islamia north of Jinnah town is a meeting place for several ideologues and leaders who serve dual positions in the Tehreek and as facilitators of the link between ISI and taliban. But this is common knowledge even in the 'Stain. You ask a village idiot in Balochistan 'where is the taliban territory ?' He'll point you to it. In addition, there's real estate owned by mullah baradar and friends transferred over to them directly by Pakistain in 2016. Britain
Britons Back Respecting Referendum Result and Farage-Tory Pact for No Deal
[BREITBART] A majority of Britons back the 2016 EU referendum result being respected and Brexit being delivered, whilst a plurality want the Conservatives to agree an election pact with Nigel Farage’s party to secure a strong parliamentary majority for a no deal exit.

More than half, 54 per cent, of Britons agree that the referendum result should be respected, while just 25 per cent disagreed, according to a ComRes poll reported in The Telegraph. Further, more than one-third (35 per cent) of those that voted Remain in the referendum also now want Brexit to be delivered.

Last week, the Remain Alliance was successful in passing a law that would force Prime Minister Boris Johnson
...pro-Brexit British prime minister, succeeding no-Brexit Theresa May. BoJo is noted as much for his sparkling personality and his hair as for his Conservative policies....
to ask for a Brexit delay to January 31st, 2020, if a deal is not passed in parliament next month. Related to that date, ComRes asked Britons whether they agreed that Brexit should be delayed, with almost half (49 per cent) disagreeing while only 29 per cent said it should be delayed.

Fifty per cent also agreed that it was "fundamentally undemocratic" for some MPs to prevent the UK leaving the EU in light of Prime Minister Johnson’s pledge to deliver Brexit by October 31st, with or without a deal, with 43 per cent agreeing with a separate statement that if the EU makes no concessions on the withdrawal treaty that the UK should leave by that date in a clean break.

In response to the statement, "Boris Johnson should make a pact with the Brexit Party to try to get enough MPs to secure a parliamentary majority for a no deal Brexit," 36 per cent agreed, compared to 34 per cent who disagreed. Broken down by party affiliation, 89 per cent of Brexit Party supporters and 69 per cent of those who intend to vote Conservative agreed.

Watchdog accuses County Clerk Karen Yarbrough of running ‘illegal patronage’ operation
[Chicago Tribune] Less than a year into office, Cook County Clerk Karen Yarbrough faces potential federal court oversight of hiring amid a watchdog’s accusations that she’s “running an illegal patronage employment system.”

Veteran anti-patronage attorney Michael Shakman said in a new legal filing that Yarbrough has put the politically connected into jobs that are supposed to be free from such influence, asked her employees for campaign contributions on their private cellphones and transferred certain supervisors to far-flung offices in hopes they’ll quit.

Yarbrough, who was under federal court oversight in her previous job as recorder of deeds, called Shakman’s latest allegations “outrageous” and “preposterous.”

“Everything that I’m being accused of is just simply not true,” said Yarbrough, who also is vice chair of the Illinois Democratic Party led by House Speaker Michael Madigan. “We’ll have our day in court.”

Shakman is asking U.S. Magistrate Judge Sidney Schenkier to appoint the first-ever federal monitor in the clerk’s office to investigate and recommend reforms as well as examine hiring and personnel practices under Yarbrough. At a Wednesday hearing, Schenkier ordered Yarbrough to file a formal response in 30 days and asked the two sides to discuss potential information available about the disputed matters for further review.

Illegal Alien Sentenced to Six Years for Having Enough Fentanyl to Kill Half a Million Americans
[BREITBART] An illegal alien has been sentenced to a little more than six years in prison for planning to distribute enough fentanyl to kill half a million Americans, federal officials confirm.

Pablo Vega-Ontanon, a 53-year-old illegal alien from Mexico, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sul Ozerden to 74 months in federal prison and five years of supervised release for possessing enough fentanyl to kill 500,000 Americans with an intent to distribute the drugs.

Vega-Ontanon, who had been living in Georgia, traveled to Gulfport, Mississippi on November 6, 2018, with Eder Ortega-Casarrubias and Eric Estudillo-Carrazco to sell heroin they said was hidden in a compartment of their vehicle to a confidential informant.

After federal officials arrested the illegal alien and his two accomplices, Sherlocks discovered that the trio had possession of nine kilograms of heroin and one kilogram of fentanyl ‐ enough drugs to kill 500,000 Americans, nearly the entire population of Wyoming.

In June, Ortega-Cassarubias was sentenced to 10.5 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release, while Estudillo-Carrazco pleaded guilty last month and faces a maximum life sentence and a $10 million fine.

Every year, nearly 70,000 to 76,000 Americans die from drug overdoses. A report released by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) revealed this year that young white American men are the most vulnerable to the national opioid crisis, dying at a higher rate than any other demographic group.

Women set to play a decisive role in Tunisia's elections after Essebsi's death
[ALARABY.CO.UK] With Tunisia's presidential election season underway, women voters have a great potential to determine its outcome. The question is whether this year's ballot will draw a sizeable part of the female electorate.

Tunisian candidates started campaigning last week for the September 15 presidential elections, which were moved forward after the death in July of Beji Caid Essebsi, the first democratically elected head of state after the 2001 uprising that overthrew long-time dictator Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali.

More than seven million Tunisians are registered to vote in the crucial September ballot, with around 1.5 million casting their ballots for the first time.

Data released by the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) indicate that the new voters are heavily women and youth, an encouraging sign considering 65 percent of voters abstained in the first democratic municipal polls last year.

Voter turnout has relatively been low in each of the three post-revolution elections amid widespread public mistrust of the political system, and party politics in particular.

Syrian Army readies forces for upcoming Latakia offensive
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops in northeastern Latakia have been a short break since the ceasefire was announced in northwestern Syria.

However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
with the ceasefire coming to an end, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Armored Division has already begun launching heavy artillery and missiles toward the hard boy defenses in Kabani area of the Latakia Governorate.

According to a military source near the Kabani front, the Syrian Arab Army has been conducting periodic strikes on the town and Jaish al-Akrad region as they prepare to launch an offensive in the area.

As shown in the video below, the Latakia front has been relatively quiet since the ceasefire’s announcement, but this is expected to change in the coming days as both the Syrian Arab Army and National Defense Forces (NDF) make their final preparations.

Egypt Brotherhood chief, deputy get life for 'spying'
[ALARABY.CO.UK] An Egyptian court has sentenced 11 Moslem Brüderbund leaders to life in prison on charges of espionage with the Paleostinian holy warrior group Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw,.

They included the Brotherhood's supreme guide Mohammed Badie and his deputy Khairat al-Shater who were both handed life sentences - 25 years in Egypt.

This is the latest of several sentences against Badie, who received a life sentence last week on charges related to mass prison breaks during the 2011 uprising.

Five other Brotherhood members were sentenced to jail terms ranging from seven to 10 years while six were acquitted, the source said.

The defendants were accused of "committing crimes in collaboration with foreign organizations" namely Hamas and the Lebanese Shiite holy warrior group Hezbollah, the source said.

They were also accused of "financing terrorism" and committing acts undermining the country's stability and security.

Mohammed Fahmy, the judge presiding over the case, said before the verdict was announced: "The crimes the defendants committed harmed the independence and security of the country."

"They betrayed their nation and there is no excuse for them," he added.

The verdict can still be appealed, the source added.

Rights groups have repeatedly criticised such sentencings and called on authorities to ensure fair trials.

De Blasio’s ridiculous robot tax
[SILIVE] We’ve all known for a while that Mayor Bill de Blasio
...cryptocommie mayor of New York and for some reason a Dem candidate for president in 2020. Corrupt and incompetent, his qualifications for office seem to consist of being married to a black woman, with whom he honeymooned in Cuba. He has a preppy-looking son named Dante, whose Divine Comedy involved getting his back hair up when a police car drove past him slowly...
’s "presidential campaign" never really got off the ground.

And now even de Blasio himself finally seems to know it, saying that he’ll have a good hard think about this whole White House thing if he doesn’t qualify for the Democratic debate in October. This after the mayor didn’t make the cut for this week’s debate.

But de Blasio’s still out there plugging away. He was in Puerto Rico the other day, looking to make the U.S. territory a front-burner issue in the campaign.

Needless to say, de Blasio didn’t have to elbow supporters and news crews out of the way during his visit. The circus has moved on without him.

Also part of this last-gasp de Blasio push is an op-ed he penned for Wired, talking about how he would tax companies that use robots in place of human workers.

The is de Blasio’s idea of a political Hail Mary, the thing that’s going to inject new life into his presidential campaign?

De Blasio wrote that he would create a federal agency to oversee automation. The agency would be called the Federal Automation and Worker Protection Agency. Or, FAWPA.

Really rolls of the tongue, doesn’t it? De Blasio better hope that people don’t confuse it with DARPA, the shadowy, cloak-and-dagger "military innovation agency."

So, new taxes on business. And a huge new bureaucracy. De Blasio sure is good at checking those progressive Democratic boxes.

Under a President de Blasio, companies would undergo a permitting process for any automation that displaces workers. Those workers would have to be given new jobs with equal pay or would have to receive severance packages in line with their tenure at the company.

The robot tax would require companies that eliminate workers through automation to pay five years of payroll taxes up front for each employee eliminated.

The revenue generated would go toward infrastructure projects and new job areas like green technology, giving displaced workers a place to land.

If there is much revenue, that is. Because what this de Blasio plan mainly does is create a huge disincentive for companies to automate. Or a big incentive for them to hide their robot assets. Because automation is supposed to save money, not cost yet more money. De Blasio’s plan actually stifles innovation. Companies could just move their robots overseas. Good luck tracking them.

And where would it end? Would we slap a tax on ATMs, which have eliminated bank teller jobs? Or fast-food kiosks, which have replaced human workers? What about those self-checkout machines at the supermarket? Maybe we’ll find a little surcharge tax for using them at the bottom of our grocery receipt.

North Korea tests super-large multiple rocket launcher: report
[ALMASDARNEWS] North Korea
...hereditary Communist monarchy distinguished by its truculence and periodic acts of violence. Seventy years later the economic results are in and it doesn't look good for Juche...
n leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
was present during Tuesday’s trials of a "super-large multiple rocket launcher," South Korea’s Yonhap news agency said on Wednesday.

Yonhap cited a a report by North Korea’s KCNA as saying that Kim, who is also the supreme commander of the Communist state’s armed forces, "gave field guidance to the test-fire of super-large multiple rocket launcher again on Tuesday."

The North Korean leader said the test provided an opportunity to fully test the system’s combat operation, trajectory characteristics, accuracy and precise homing functions.

KCNA did not say whether the launch was deemed a success.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JSC) said early on Tuesday that North Korea had launched two unidentified projectiles toward the Sea of Japan. According to the South Korean military, the projectiles were fired eastward, from an inland area in the South Pyongan Province in North Korea’s west.

The reports came against the background of Pyongyang’s declarations about its readiness to resume denuclearization talks with the United States.

Police officers to be asked to submit affidavit proving no torture cell in their jurisdiction: Shahbaz Gill
[DAWN] Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

chief minister's spokesperson Dr Shahbaz Gill on Wednesday announced that Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had ordered that every deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and district police officer (DPO) in the province would be required to submit an affidavit that there was no torture cell within their respective station's jurisdiction.

The order comes after several cases came to light recently of suspects dying in the custody of Punjab police due to alleged torture.

Addressing a presser, Gill shared some of the immediate steps the provincial government is taking to deal with the situation. He said if an incident of torture occurs following the submission of the affidavit, a first information report (FIR) will be registered against the DPOs and DSPs instead of coppers and sub-inspectors as is generally done.

Earlier, Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) retired Capt Arif Nawaz Khan had also stated that FIRs would be registered against the DPO, DSP and station house officer (SHO) concerned in the case of torture or death in jug while the SHO involved in such incidents would be blacklisted for posting at any cop shoppe.

Gill further said that Chief Minister Buzdar had expressed a desire to form an independent board, the final form of which would soon be developed and enforced in the police. In the case of an incident taking place, media persons, school teachers and people from different walks of life would be included in the board, he revealed.

PPP not to join Fazlur Rehman's Islamabad march but will provide 'moral support', says Bilawal
[DAWN] PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Wednesday said that his party will not join the anti-government long march that Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...the political wing of the Pak Taliban...
(JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman
...Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty...
announced to set out on, but promised to provide "moral and political support".

Bilawal, while speaking to news hounds in Jamshoro, said that PPP has had a "clear and consistent policy when it came to dharna politics in Islamabad".

"Whether it is a sit-in by Tahirul Qadri
...Pak politician, and would-be dictator, founder and head of Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran and Pakistain Awami Tehrik. He usually resides in Canada, but returns to Pakistain periodically to foam at the mouth and lead demonstrations. Depending on which way the wind's blowing, Qadri claims to be the author of Pak's blasphemy law. Other times he says it wasn't him...
, Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality disorders...
or by Tehrik-e-Labbaik; we were in opposition when [those sit-ins] took place but we never joined them," he said.

"We support Maulana Fazlur Rehman's politics and the issues he is raising. We provide moral support, political support for his initiative [but] strategically, we don't see eye to eye."

Bilawal announced that he will go around the country as part of his mass contact campaign and raise the same issues as Rehman.

"While Rehman will be in Islamabad, I will be going across the country and our narrative will be the same, which is that this puppet, incapable prime minister, who has been imposed upon us through rigging, who has ruined our economy, who has weakened our national security position on every issue including Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain.
[...] he will have to go home," said the PPP chief.

Mugabe's body heads back to a divided Zimbabwe for burial
[DAWN] The body of Zim-bob-we's ex-president Bob Muggsy Mugabe

Dumped in November 2017 when the Missus decided she wanted to be president, and opposed heer might against Crocodile Mnangawa Important safety tip: If your opponent goes by the name Crocodile andf your title is Shopper in Chief let him win....
was flown out of Singapore on Wednesday following his death last week, his nephew said, heading home for burial in a country bitterly divided by the hero-turned-despot's legacy.

Mugabe, a guerrilla leader who swept to power after Zim-bob-we's independence from Britannia and went on to rule for 37 years until he was ousted in 2017, died on Friday, aged 95.

His health deteriorated after he was toppled by the military and former loyalists in November 2017, ending an increasingly iron-fisted rule that sent the economy into ruin.

He died after receiving treatment at a Singapore hospital for several months, and a delegation including Vice President Kembo Mohadi travelled to the affluent city-state on a chartered flight to bring him home.

Early on Wednesday, a hearse transporting Mugabe's body left a Singapore funeral parlour bound for an airport and accompanied by a police escort, driving past a group of waiting journalists.

A plane carrying the former leader and the visiting delegation departed shortly afterwards, his nephew Adam Molai told AFP.

Sudan PM to meet with rebel leaders in first visit to South Sudan
[ALARABY.CO.UK] Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok is set to visit neighbouring South Sudan this week in his first foreign visit.

After a landmark power-sharing agreement was signed between the military and protest leaders, Hamdok took office last month as Sudan's first premier since the ousting of former President Omar al-Bashir in April.

Hamdok will travel to the South Sudanese capital Juba on Thursday to meet with Sudanese rebel forces, Media Minister Faisal Mohammed Saleh said.

Among the premier's key goals for his first months in government is to bring peace to conflict-riven Sudan.

The country faces war with rebel forces in three conflict zones in the country's - Darfur, Blue Nile and South Kordofan.

Sudanese military and paramilitary forces have been accused of war crimes and widespread rights violations against civilians in the long-disenfranchised southern regions.

The power-sharing deal inked last month calls on the new transitional government to put an end to those conflicts within its first six months.

Hamdok has reiterated that pledge, claiming that minimised military spending brought on by peace will also help fix the country’s ailing economy.

The prime minister, along with four ministers who were officially sworn into the cabinet last week, will meet with Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF), the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), and the Sudan Liberation Forces Alliance (SLFA) in Juba, the Sudan Tribune reported.

The SRF is a key coalition representing rebel forces in Darfur, Blue Nile and South Kordofan, with rebels in the latter two states also represented by Abdulaziz al-Hilu's SPLM-N. The SLFA, led by Taher Hajer, is an alliance of rebel forces in Darfur.

Hamdok dispatched an envoy to Juba last week as the Sudanese government and rebel forces prepare to launch a comprehensive peace process.

The venue of future peace talks is reportedly up for discussion in the premier's visit to Juba this week.

Egypt, Chad and the UAE have expressed interest in hosting the discussions.

GOP holds N Carolina House seat but shows frailty in suburbs
[APNEWS] Conservative Republican Dan Bishop won a special election for an open House seat in North Carolina, averting a demoralizing Democratic capture of a district the GOP has held for nearly six decades. But his narrow victory didn’t erase questions about whether President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
and his party’s congressional candidates face troubling headwinds approaching 2020.

Bishop, a state senator best known for a North Carolina law dictating which public bathrooms transgender people can use, defeated centrist Democrat Dan McCready on Tuesday. Bishop tied himself tightly to Trump, who staged an election eve rally for him in the district, and Tuesday’s voting seemed no less than a referendum on the Republican president, who quickly took credit for the triumph.

"Dan Bishop was down 17 points 3 weeks ago. He then asked me for help, we changed his strategy together, and he ran a great race. Big Rally last night," Trump tweeted. No polling has emerged publicly that showed Bishop with a deficit of that magnitude. Operatives from both parties and analysts had long said the race was too close to call.

The results in the district underscored the rural-urban split between the parties, with Bishop, 55, running up substantial numbers in outlying areas and McCready eroding GOP advantages in suburban areas. McCready’s moderate profile resembled that of many Democrats who won in Republican-leaning districts in the 2018 midterms and, even with the loss on Tuesday, showed the durability of that approach.
