Girl Refuses To Solve Math Question Citing Woke Manners
[CTVNews] A math question comparing the weight of three hypothetical Grade 4 girls offended one Utah student enough that she refused to answer it and is speaking out.

"Sorry I won't (write) this it's rood," wrote 9-year-old Rhythm on her homework, circling the question and adding "What!!!!" above it. The question presented the weights of Isabel, Irene and Sue and asked students to determine how much heavier Isabel is than the lightest of the three.
Now I know what those Woke Maths workshops were about.
"I thought it was offensive," said Rhythm in an interview with Fox 13 News in Murray, Utah. "Girls shouldn't be comparing each other. I know it was a math problem, but I didn't think that was really OK."
Skip to the link for the rest of it, if you're so inclined. I get off here.

Chinese Grenades Recovered in Operation in Kashmir
[IndiaToday] Terror hideout busted near LoC in Poonch, 17 hand grenades recovered

Army and police personnel launched a joint search operation in border areas of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district and busted a terror hideout in Khara Gali area in Poonch district.

A total of 17 Chinese hand grenades were seized by authorities, said a senior police officer. The search operation was launched on specific information in Khara Gali area of Loran border belt and the terror hideout was busted.

According to police, the 17 hand grenades appear to be around 3-4 months old.
How they arrived at that bit of deduction is beyond me. Maybe the things had serial numbers ?

Four teenagers Young Men Indicted For Murder, 12-Day Crime Spree
I doubt you'll find this on CNN !

[WREG] MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Four teenagers have been indicted on multiple charges after a 12-day crime spree last November.

Djuantay Jacocks
wow
, 19, Jason Poole, 18, and Mardavis Thomas and Jaylon Causey, both 17, were indicted on first-degree murder charges after 49-year-old Belinda Humphreys was shot and killed.

She and her husband were reportedly stopped at a stop sign at the corner of Truman and Ozan Street when two of the defendants tried to open their car doors. One of the males then started shooting into the car.

Humphreys' husband survived the shooting.

The District Attorney's office said prior to that deadly encounter the suspects robbed a pair walking their dogs on Vaughn and then stole a man's pickup truck and wallet at gunpoint on Isabelle.

Jacocks and Thomas were also indicted on aggravated robbery, theft of property and attempted aggravated robbery charges in connection to several incidents between November 15 and 27.

Poole was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and attempted aggravated robbery.

Jacocks, Thomas and Causey were all captured after a short police chase on foot in November 2018. Poole was arrested the next day.

Prosecutors say there were more than half a dozen victims of the crimes.

Russian journalist arrested in Iran for spying for Israel
[Jpost] Russian journalist Yulia Yuzik was arrested in Tehran by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps on Thursday for allegedly cooperating with Israeli intelligence, according to the Russian TASS news agency.

Yuzik was arrested in the airport after flying to Tehran.

The Russian Embassy in Tehran stated that they are aware of the incident and are trying to find out more.

"The embassy is aware of this, we are sorting out the situation," said Andrei Ganenko, the embassy's press officer.

"Yulia worked as a reporter in Tehran a few years ago," said Boris Wojciechowski, a colleague of Yuzik's, according to Radio Farda. "She was invited to Iran some time ago and traveled to Tehran shortly thereafter. However, as soon as she arrived in Tehran, security officials seized her passport and told her that she could take it on his return. However, that same evening, several Revolutionary Guards officers arrested Ms. Yuzik by breaking into her room at the hotel."

Yuzik has only been allowed to talk to her relatives in Moscow for a minute since she was arrested. Her trial is scheduled to take place on Saturday.

Democratic Lawmaker Screams At Gun Toting Constituents Over NRA Support
[DailyWire] Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) was recorded lashing out at both her constituents and the National Rifle Association (NRA) on Tuesday evening during a town hall aimed at curbing gun violence.

“This is why the NRA has got to go,” Stevens shouted as pro-second Amendment advocates made their voices heard. “The NRA has got to go!” she screamed a second time.

#3  If you want to cut the murder rate in half, take guns away from inner city black youth. Yes, proposing this would be political suicide, and no, it wouldn't work in the long term because while handguns are convenient, murder weapons are fungible. #4  She's trying to pull a Gillibrand, but folks won't get fooled again.

“Representative Haley Stevens revealed her true intentions during her unhinged outburst directed at her own constituents,” Tori Sachs, the executive director of Michigan Rising Action told The Daily Wire. “[She] may have run as a moderate who would support ‘common sense’ gun reform, but it’s now clear she’s joined the gun-grabbing radical left trying to completely dismantle the NRA and take away 2nd Amendment rights from law-abiding citizens.”

Militia groups kidnap seven women in Derna
[Libya Observer] Seven women from the Shiha district of Derna, east Libya, have been kidnapped by a militia group on Monday night, a source from the city disclosed.

The source added that four of the kidnapped women were released on Tuesday while the fate of the other three ones remains unknown.

...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
Airport Road. Eight others were maimed.

The front man for the Ambulance Apparatus of the Health Ministry Osama Ali said a random shell fell on the woman's house on Wali al-Ahed street and killed her along with her baby girl - who was picked from under the rubble.

Ali told news hounds that a warning for all residents of Sidi Salim and al-Hadab was made by the apparatus so they can remain in downstairs floors and away from windows amid the constant shelling of Haftar's forces.

The residents of Sidi Salim and Wali al-Ahed confirmed that several rockets hit their neighborhoods and some were left unwent kaboom!.

Haftar's forces carried Wednesday overnight attacks covered by heavy airpower - foreign backers - on Tripoli frontlines. The festivities lingered through Thursday as the Libyan Army under the command of the Presidential Council's government managed to foil their attacks inflicting on them a heavy corpse count and loss of military equipment.

Home Front: Culture Wars
Greta: Nazi Propagandist Or Stockholm Syndrome Victim?
[MichaelZWilliamson] Well, both.

God, what a dumpster fire.

Greta is home-schooled, so the BS claim that "she turned her parents around on the climate" is BS. They had to allow it, feed it, and encourage it. Though of course, they taught her a lot of propaganda. No actual science like the chemistry of carbon sequestration, thermodynamics, electromagnetic frequency absorption, etc.

They claim she's Asperger's, but apparently that's her younger sister. Greta looks more like a victim of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Just how many wild parties did her "opera singer" mother go to?

Then, she's vegan, which in children is provably damaging to brain development and drops your IQ. Add that to the above, and this teenager is credibly an idiot studying to be a moron.

And what is her message?

"You have to do something."

...I'll point out here that that attitude is TEXTBOOK "liberal." "X is a problem, do something!" "We're doing Y." "Y is all wrong! YOU RUINED MY LIFE!" "Okay, we're doing Z." "CAN'T YOU EVER GET IT RIGHT? DO SOMETHING ELSE!"

And the predictable response is:

"Shame on you for attacking a child."

Well, were people attacking a child, it is true that would be wrong. But that's not what is happening here.

First, if you stick yourself into an adult conversation, as a young adult, you should be expected to be treated like an adult. This means you should have education, presentation, a description of a problem, and a proposed solution. Otherwise, yes, you may get treated like a child.

...Now, Greta and her whole presentation are carefully crafted. I want you to consider this parallel:

There is a short video that shows an Israeli man revving his engine through a group of presumably Palestinian teenagers. What a monster!

Of course, if you view the five seconds before the "Attack," it turns out they were throwing really big rocks at his car and trying to jam the undercarriage with a bigger rock.

If you find the two minutes of video before THAT, you see where they're being coached by an adult, provided with a pile of rocks, and cameras set up to capture this "hate crime."

You can find the same in the former Irish Troubles, in Iraq, Afghanistan, other places. Behind the "hate crime," you find manipulated terrorism, using children as the actors because they're more easily manipulated, and you get to play victim cards for them.

Greta's parents, her handlers, indeed the entire liberal apparatus are terrorists. They are willing to use a child to do their dirty work, attack you for responding to the child, and insist you're the bad guy for not giving them what they want. (And in that latter way, liberals are pretty much like children themselves. "But I waaaaant it! It's not faaiiir! Give it to meeee!")

A smart polity does not deal with terrorists. It exterminates them. It is far past time that civilized society stops tolerating liberal terrorism and ends it.

After a short time applying that policy, the number of people willing to call for violence will dwindle to zero. They'll focus on persuasion and argument to achieve their goals, rather than hostages.

Fewer innocent people will suffer. I doubt that As a solid win for civilization and morality.

Swiss banks benefit as rich Britons line up escape route from Brexit chaos
ZURICH (Reuters) - Swiss private banks have seen a sharp rise in British clients who are moving assets offshore to escape a chaotic Brexit, several sources familiar with the situation told Reuters.

"In recent months the number of accounts opened from Britain has trebled," one person at the wealth management arm of a large international bank in Switzerland said.

Swiss banks do not disclose details of their clients but the sources said that most of the accounts opened by British-based clients were for high net worth British nationals wanting to shift some assets to safe-haven Switzerland.

This trend had clearly intensified in recent weeks, a source at a large Swiss bank said.

Wealthy Britons wanted to protect their assets also against the possibility of a high-tax Labour government coming to power soon, another source said.

A real concern even if Brexit does not happen. The seriously savvy will buy a little vacation property there, too, and get a residency permit against the time when a change of scenery becomes advisable. In the meantime the thing can be rented out by a local property manager, if desired, earning out the mortgage payments.

This does not square with the headline, which pins the 'chaos' and money movement on Brexit. Probably a degree of both, but more on the anticipated guaranteed tax rate increase with a Labor government.

IDF Thwarts Weapons Smuggling Attempt From Lebanon To Israel
[Jerusalem Post] The IDF and Israel Police thwarted an attempt to smuggle weapons from Lebanon into Israel in September, according to an IDF spokesperson.

An IDF field observer from the 869th battalion spotted two suspects acting suspiciously on the Lebanese side of the border with Israel near the border fence. IDF soldiers went to the scene to check the issue.

Bags found in the area contained about 40 pistols and magazines which were meant to be smuggled from Lebanon into Israel. The background of the incident is being looked into.

One suspect was arrested on the Israeli side of the border and was transferred for questioning by security forces.

"I saw a suspect approaching the fence and immediately realized that this was an unusual incident," said Pvt. Adi ben Naim, the field observer who identified the suspects. "I alerted the troops and directed them to the location. It was only after the incident that I realized that a very large weapon-smuggling attempt was thwarted. My job as a field observer is to identify what takes place in the field and alert my commanders; which is exactly what I did in this incident.

Iraq’s foreign ministry summons Iranian ambassador over threats to US
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraq’s foreign ministry has summoned Iran’s ambassador to Baghdad to denounce his threat that Tehran would retaliate to an American attack anywhere in the world, including in Iraq.

The development comes as deadly protests have gripped Baghdad and spread since Tuesday to southern Iraqi provinces. So far, 19 people have been reported killed, including one policeman.

Thursday’s ministry statement said Iraqi official Abdul-Karim Hashem told Iran’s envoy, Iraj Masjedi, that American troops are in Iraq and the request of the Iraqi government.

It said Hashem told Masjedi that Iraq would not accept becoming an arena for international conflicts.

Masjedi recently told Iraq’s Dijla TV that if the Americans attack Iran, Tehran "will strike back anywhere, including (in) Iraq."

'Apology not necessary': CNN guest gloats after he is proven right about whistleblower contacting Adam Schiff staff
[Washington Examiner] A GOP analyst took a shot at CNN host Chris
"Fredo"
Cuomo for discounting his analysis and suspicion that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff knew about a CIA whistleblower complaint before it was officially filed.

Fred Fleitz, formerly a CIA analyst and House Intelligence Committee staffer, appeared Tuesday on Cuomo Prime Time and posited that Schiff knew ahead of time the details in the whistleblower complaint that has ignited a push toward impeachment by House Democrats.

Fleitz’s analysis was proved correct a day later when it was reported that the whistleblower had contacted Schiff's staff on the House Intelligence Committee before filing a complaint with the Intelligence Community inspector general, who is responsible for investigating corruption in federal intelligence agencies.

"You were pretty hard on me last night on @CNN last night [sic] @ChrisCuomo when I told you that I assessed @RepAdamSchiff probably knew about the CIA whistleblower in advance. We now know from the NYT that I was right. Apology not necessary," Fleitz tweeted on Wednesday.

Pakistan and Taliban call for U.S. to resume Afghan peace talks
ISLAMABAD/PESHAWAR (Reuters) - Peace talks in Afghanistan must resume as soon as possible, Pakistan and the Taliban militant group urged on Thursday, after President Donald Trump broke off negotiations last month seeking to end the United States’ longest war.
"Hudna!"
Trump halted talks with the group, aimed at striking a deal for U.S. and other foreign troops to withdraw in exchange for Taliban security guarantees, after it carried out a bomb attack in Kabul that killed 12 people, including a U.S. soldier.

"Both sides agreed on the need for the earliest resumption of the peace process," Pakistan’s foreign office said in a statement on Thursday after Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi met a Taliban delegation that is visiting Islamabad.

The U.S. embassy in the Pakistani capital did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The United States has long considered Pakistan’s cooperation crucial to efforts to end the war in Afghanistan.

Europe
Netherlands: Mosque-run Salafist schools are indoctrinating children with radical Islamic worldviews
[VOE] A joint investigation by Nieuwsuur and the newspaper NRC has revealed that children who attend mosque-run fundamentalist Muslim schools across the Netherlands are being taught to esteem Sharia law over Dutch law.

According to the report, these mosque-run schools are indoctrinating their young students to turn their backs on Dutch values, and that individuals with different faiths deserve the death penalty, Dutch News reports.

The news comes just after the release of a report by the Netherlands intelligence service AIVD about the ever-increasing influence of Salafism ‐ a strain of Sunni fundamentalist Islam ‐ at mosque-run schools.

Around 70 hours of audio and video material of teaching material was retrieved by journalists who posed as parents of students who attended the mosque-schools. The material shows that punishments in sharia law for ’enemies’ and homosexuals were glorified by teachers at the schools.

The schools asked children to answer multiple-choice questions concerning proper punishment for a variety of crimes. Shockingly, answers included stoning, beheading by sword, and whipping.

Many of the schools encouraged their students that they should leave the Netherlands to go live in an Islamic country.

Iraq: Internet Switched Off And At Least 33 Killed As Protests Break Out
[Hot Air] Iraq is suddenly looking a bit like Hong Kong. But in Baghdad police were quick to open fire on protesters with live ammunition as the government shut down the internet to stop the flow of information:
Anti-government demonstrators defied an around-the-clock curfew in Baghdad and other cities Thursday as Iraqi security forces used live ammunition and tear gas during a third day of unrest that has left 33 people dead, most of them protesters.

Authorities cut internet access in much of Iraq since late Wednesday in a desperate move to curb the rallies. By Thursday afternoon, the curfew was extended to three other southern provinces...

Middle East expert Jennifer Cafarella, with the Washington-based Institute for the Study of War, said the immediate and widespread use of force against protesters in multiple provinces demonstrates "that the security forces are overwhelmed by the volume and rate of spread" of the rallies.
The protests began Tuesday and appear to spread very quickly. The source of the protester’s anger is economic more than political, though protesters are calling for the ouster of the current government:

Economy
Moderate U.S. job growth report expected for September
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. job growth likely picked up in September, with wages increasing solidly, which could assuage financial market concerns that the slowing economy was teetering on the brink of a recession amid lingering trade tensions.

The Labor Department’s closely watched monthly employment report on Friday will come on the heels of a string of weak economic reports, including a plunge in manufacturing activity to a more than 10-year low in September and a sharp slowdown in services industry growth to levels last seen in 2016.

With signs that the Trump administration’s 15-month trade war with China is spilling over to the broader economy, continued labor market strength is a critical buffer against an economic downturn. The U.S.-China trade war has eroded business confidence, sinking investment and manufacturing.

"The economy is slowing, but it is not in recession and there is no reason to believe it will go into the red this year," said Joel Naroff, chief economist at Naroff Economic Advisors in Holland, Pennsylvania. "The jobs report will likely confirm that situation as moderate job growth is expected."

Nonfarm payrolls probably increased by 145,000 jobs last month after gaining 130,000 in August, according to a Reuters survey of economists. August job growth was probably held back by a seasonal quirk related to students leaving their summer jobs and returning to school. It could be revised higher as has been the trend in the past several years.

Iraq
Iraq's PM calls for talks as thousands of protesters defy curfew
[Aljazeera] Iraq's Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi has called for dialogue after a third consecutive day of deadly anti-government protests in the capital, Baghdad, and several southern cities.

In a statement quoted by local media on Thursday, Abdul Mahdi's office said the prime minister was "continuing contacts" with protesters in a bid to end the political crisis and "return to normal life".

Abdul Mahdi was prepared to meet with "representatives of peaceful demonstrators to consider their legitimate demands", the statement added.

The announcement came as 4,000 protesters rallied in Baghdad, defying a government-enforced curfew to call again for improved services, more jobs and an end to widespread corruption.

The crowds gathered in Baghdad's Tayaran Square and attempted to march onto the central Tahrir Square only to be met with open fire and heavy tear gas. Police also used live ammunition in the Zafaraniya district of Baghdad and there were protests in the northwestern Shula district.

The demonstrations, which appear to be independent of any political party, started in the capital on Tuesday, and later spread to cities across Iraq's mainly Shia south. At least 31 people have been killed in three days of clashes.

Afghanistan
A U.S.-Taliban Deal Is Likely. Peace in Afghanistan Is Not.
[Stratfor] On Sept. 2, U.S. envoy Zalmay Khalilzad heralded a draft peace deal with the Taliban in Afghanistan, capping almost a year of negotiations. But an insurgent attack in Kabul on the heels of that announcement prompted U.S. President Donald Trump to abruptly call off negotiations on Sept. 7, which were aimed at starting the long process to finally end their 18-year conflict in Afghanistan. U.S.-Taliban talks, however, were always likely to resume due to the two sides' shared need for a political settlement. And indeed, with officials from both sides arriving in Pakistan on Oct. 2, it looks as if they might soon recommence.

But until the government in Kabul reaches its own "intra-Afghan" cease-fire agreement with the Taliban, fighting will persist regardless of whatever deal the United States eventually strikes with the insurgent organization. And thus, the fate of peace in Afghanistan will hinge more on whether the winner of the country's Sept. 28 presidential election can successfully broker his own deal with the Taliban.

#1  fighting will persist regardless

That’s all that need be said. There are too many jihadi groups roaming Afghanistan for any agreement with a single group to have any impact, especially as even that single group will not abide by it. Especially those groups supported by outsiders doing their religious duty, including Pakistan's ISI and private and public donors in the Arabian Gulf.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
STAT! Paging Dr. Smithers, Dr. Joel Smithers please
[Free Beacon] A Martinsville, Va., doctor has been convicted of more than 860 federal drug charges after distributing half a million opioid pills in fewer than two years.

Dr. Joel Smithers, 36, was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison for acts that, in the words of the U.S. attorney prosecuting the case, "perpetuated, on a massive scale, the vicious cycle of addiction and despair." In addition, Smithers was convicted of having caused the death of a West Virginia woman who overdosed on oxycodone and oxymorphone he prescribed.

"Dr. Smithers flooded Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio with his opioid prescriptions and hid behind his white doctor’s coat as a large-scale drug dealer," said Jesse Fong, DEA special agent in charge of the Washington Division Office. "The Drug Enforcement Administration’s Tactical Diversion Squads will relentlessly investigate and arrest these drug dealers disguised as doctors in our communities."

According to the Department of Justice, Smithers first opened his practice in Martinsville in 2015. In the following several years, he prescribed "controlled substances" to every patient, including oxymorphone, oxycodone, hydromorphone, and fentanyl. Patients would come from hundreds of miles away to receive drugs from Smithers's "pill mill."

Home Front: Culture Wars
Homeless In Seattle, Part 1: High-Tech & The Homeless
[Mercer at Townhall] Big Tech and the other multinationals are exacerbating the problem of homelessness in Washington state. For these stateless corporations are the major importers, into King County and the surrounds, of a high-tech, feudal elite, thus compounding the homeless quagmire.

The corporations who straddle the globe rely on immigration ignoramuses to perpetuate the single-cause theory of homelessness: addiction or mental illness.

However, even if drug addiction and mental illness are seen as necessary in causing homelessness, they are seldom sufficient. Substance abuse and mental anguish can, in themselves, be the consequence of other exogenous, existential and intractable circumstances.

Like being priced out of your homeland’s housing market. For good.

Big Tech must be quite pleased to see homelessness attributed exclusively, by the usual cast on TV, to addiction and mental illness‐when, in fact, homelessness is driven, primarily, by the systematic and permanent eviction from the housing market of vulnerable, working-class people.

In truth, our country is consigning its economically weakest members to the homeless encampment, through the never-ending importation of a high-rolling, high-tech elite, which, in turn, artificially inflates the price of housing. In perpetuity.

According to the Seattle Times, "fewer than 50 percent of people without homes are addicts." "There are more families with children than chronically homeless people" in the encampments.

#1  Wrong. If you can't afford Seattle, try your luck elsewhere.

I've been watching the TV show Fixer Upper lately, in which a couple in Waco, TX fix up old houses and sell them. You can get an old but still quite livable house in Waco with a big lot surrounding it for $200,000 to $300,000.

I'm sure the Texans will request that you leave your loony liberal politics where you came from and it gets hot in Waco. But it's gotta beat the sidewalks in Seattle. You get a job, work hard, get married and raise a family and Waco is probably an OK place to be.

But I think the problem is not what the writer of this article asserts. Homeless people are not homeless because smart people learn to work in high tech businesses and drive up the housing costs. You can't blame those people for working hard and being successful. Homeless people are homeless because they're lazy, drug addicted bums and nut jobs. If you put them in nice, new, taxpayer subsidized apartments they won't get jobs and they won't stop doing drugs and it won't be long before those apartments are not so nice anymore.
Posted by: Abu Uluque || 10/04/2019 10:47 Comments || Top||

#2  I work in Seattle - I'm not quite stupid enough to live there. While the housing market does indeed price all but the well to do out of the market there is also the homelessness sponsorship of the elite and leftist politicians.
There is the old saying 'give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach him to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime'. In this case the democrats *want* to keep feeding him a fish daily in order to make him dependent - and voting democrat. Its the same model they have been using for generations. With Black America, with women, with Illegal aliens, etc...
The Mentally ill should be helped. The addicts should also be helped if they are truly interested in curing their addiction. But we should not be coddling those who choose, of their own free will, to not be responsible for themselves.
At some time we have to let then suffer the consequences of their choices.

Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib: All African-Americans Look Alike To Non-African Americans
[Victory Girls] Rashida Tlaib is not a fan of facial recognition technology. She has branded it racist and informed the Chief Craig of the Detroit Police Department that only African-American analysts should be eligible to work the system.

"U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib told Detroit police Chief James Craig he should employ only black people on the department’s facial recognition team because "non-African Americans think African-Americans all look the same."" [Emphasis Added]

Yes, she really said that.

Rashida Tlaib stated that anyone who is NOT African-American cannot differentiate between African-Americans when it comes to solving crimes. She leveled a racist generalization against anyone and everyone who isn’t African-American, and blatantly called for racial discrimination in the workplace.

A few takeaways on this

A. Does Tlaib realize that she herself essentially said that all blacks look alike?

B. As Chief Craig points out, if he or any white person had made the same comments, the fallout would be nuclear in scope.

C. Tlaib advocates for racial discrimination in the workplace, even though FEDERAL law has made it illegal to discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, etc.

Rashida Tlaib can hop onto Twitter and link to all sorts of studies in an attempt to make her case about facial recognition. In the end it doesn’t matter because her comments to Chief Craig and the analysts within the Detroit PD have invalidated any decent argument she may have had.

Rashida Tlaib has ranted against racism and bigotry, yet openly expressed her OWN racism and bigotry to the world at large and to her own constituents. This is yet another instance where she shows us exactly who she is, and it’s not pretty.

BEIRUT (AP) ‐ The conflict between Iran and the U.S. that has created tensions throughout much of the Middle East is now also being felt in Lebanon, where Washington has slapped sanctions on the Iran-backed Hezbollah and warned they could soon expand to its allies, further deepening the tiny Arab country’s economic crisis.

The Trump administration has intensified sanctions on the Lebanese militant group and institutions linked to it to unprecedented levels, targeting lawmakers for the first time as well as a local bank that Washington claims has ties to the group.

Two U.S. officials visited Beirut in September and warned the sanctions will increase to deprive Hezbollah of its sources of income. The push is further adding to Lebanon’s severe financial and economic crisis, with Lebanese officials warning the country’s economy and banking sector can’t take the pressure.

"We have taken more actions recently against Hezbollah than in the history of our counterterrorism program," Sigal P. Mandelker, undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence at the U.S. Treasury, said in the United Arab Emirates last month.

Fed policymakers 'open' to rate cut as risks to outlook rise
THE WOODLANDS, Texas/NEW YORK (Reuters) - Two Fed policymakers on Thursday signaled they are open to delivering another rate cut after a report showed the growth in the vast U.S. services sector is slowing, but the Fed’s No. 2, speaking late in the day, gave little away on his own thinking.

Europe
US slaps 25% tariffs on French products
h/t Gates of Vienna
[ConnexionFrance] French wines, cheeses and olives are among a wide range of European products to be slapped with tariffs of 25% by the USA from October 18.

Meanwhile, aeroplanes and aeroplane parts made in Europe will be subject to tariffs of 10%.

The tariffs were announced after the United States Trade Representative won approval from the World Trade Organization (WTO) to impose import tariffs on $7.5billion of goods in response to EU subsidies to Airbus - the largest-ever tariff sanction imposed by the trade body.

Most of the tariffs will be imposed on products from France, Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

It's like Europe is just used to keeping our products out and favoring their own. When we react and restore fairness, it's suddenly a war crime. If tariffs don't work then why does Europe use them?

It's Not A Crime For Trump To Ask China And Ukraine To Investigate Biden
h/t Instapundit
[Federalist] President Trump threw a glass of cold water over the impeachment inquiry in the House of Representatives today by essentially stipulating to the main allegation being made against him. In fact, he doubled down on it.

Asked about what he wants Ukrainian President Volomydyr Zelensky to do about Hunter Biden’s business dealings there Trump said, "I would recommend that they start an investigation into the Bidens." He also suggested that China should open a similar investigation. But what Trump was mostly saying is that he is the president and there is nothing wrong with saying such things to foreign leaders.

As The Ukraine Whistleblower Story Falters, Dems/Media Have Another Flawed Story Lined Up And Ready To Go
[Redstate] The Ukraine whistleblower story has been disintegrating all week. It really took a dive yesterday when it was revealed that Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) had prior knowledge of the complaint while publicly he was professing otherwise.

But the Washington Post dropped a story tonight that suggests Democrats may have an even more flawed story lined up in the box.

The WaPo claims:

An Internal Revenue Service official has filed a whistleblower complaint reporting that he was told at least one Treasury Department political appointee attempted to improperly interfere with the annual audit of the president or vice president’s tax returns, according to multiple people familiar with the document.

The problem? Once again, this is anonymous hearsay complaint, not even firsthand but a thirdhand claim of what allegedly occurred.

With the sudden and convenient whistleblower rule change, are we now to expect a flood of hearsay complaints based on “someone told me something.” How ridiculous is this?

Then while such information is supposed to be confidential after it is filed, once again we see an obviously convenient leak to the WaPo who is then all too happy to publish anonymous hearsay if it helps to serve the Democratic narrative. Democrats need to be called on the carpet for this.

It’s unclear who the “political appointee” in question is or even if it’s a pro or anti-Trump person. It’s not even clear if it refers to the president or the vice president’s returns.

But that isn’t stopping the Democrats from getting geared up, according to the WaPo, who said congressional Democrats are now circulating on Capitol Hill and have flagged it to a federal judge. Rep. Richard Neal told Bloomberg he is consulting with legal counsel about whether to release the whistleblower complaint. Democrats are calling it “deeply significant allegation” “if true,” the WaPo says.
Ah, the “if true” standard strikes again. If true, unicorns can fly. Thirdhand hearsay. Journalism at its finest.

Meanwhile, the WaPo admits that they themselves have not been able to confirm that anything wrong happened.

“The Post has been unable to verify the allegation in the whistleblower’s complaint of improper communication between Treasury and IRS on the tax audit program.”

But hey, it’s cool, we’ll run with it anyway.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Rina Shnerb's Alleged Murderer Linked To European-Funded BDS Affiliates
More details about this report from Tuesday.
[Jpost] Samer Arbid, the alleged leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine (PFLP) terrorist cell responsible for murdering 17-year-old Rina Shnerb near Dolev in August, worked for a Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an-funded NGO linked to BDS, NGO Monitor reported on Wednesday.

According to the NGO Monitor, Arbid was listed as an accountant for Addameer (Arabic for conscience) Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, a Paleostinian NGO that provides legal representation to Paleostinians detained in Israel. The Ramallah-based organization’s mandate includes "ending torture and other forms of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment inflicted upon Paleostinian prisoners" and "guaranteeing fair, impartial and public trials." The organization was listed as a PFLP-affiliated institution on Fatah’s website in September 2015.

According to NGO Monitor, Addameer has received funding from numerous EU members and European government institutions, including the Heinrich Böll Foundation, Irish Aid, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Basque Government and the Municipality of Barcelona.

Arbid has also worked for the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC), which was also identified by Fatah as a PFLP affiliate. It was also identified by USAID as the Popular Front’s "agricultural arm," and described by Middle East researcher Glenn E. Robinson as an organization established by "agronomics loosely affiliated with the PFLP."

The UAWC also receives funding from European states and institutions, including Grassroots International, the UN OCHA, and the Dutch and Norwegian governments, according to NGO Monitor. Since 2016, the UAWC has received nearly NOK 39 million ($4.3M) from Norwegian People’s Aid and more than €8 million from the Netherlands.

In 2017-2021, the Netherlands’ Representative Office in Ramallah granted the organization $11.3 million to "implement the second phase of the Land and Water Resource Management program."

"For years, we have been warning about the phenomenon of European governmental support for Paleostinian civil-society organizations linked to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine, an internationally-designated terror-group," said Prof. Gerald Steinberg, founder and president of NGO Monitor. "This week’s announcement makes clear that the PFLP remains active and deadly."

"Years of NGO Monitor research shows that Addameer, which advocates itself on behalf of PFLP terrorists, plays an integral role in the PFLP-NGO network," Steinberg said. "Our reports on the group, which previously identified Arbid by name, leave no doubt that European governments and UN agencies should immediately cease funding Addameer and launch a thorough investigation of how taxpayers’ funds were disbursed to a group with a clear, terror-linked record."

Since the early 2000s, both Addameer and UAWC have shown deep ties to the BDS movement, having signed a petition to "isolate Apartheid Israel...forging effective solidarity with the Paleostinian struggle for freedom, self-determination and illusory sovereignty."

In 2014, Addameer and UAWC, alongside other Paleostinian civil movements and NGOs, signed a joint call to action against the "apartheid wall," stating "It is time for a ’legal intifada,’ an intensified struggle and more boycotts, divestment and sanctions." The organizations have endorsed the BDS movement, calling upon the public to "expand and deepen the global BDS movement for justice."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Yossi Cohen: The Mossad spy chief who stole Iran's secret nuclear archives
[Jerusalem Post] It was not the first time Mossad director Yossi Cohen took the elevator up to the CIA director’s office on the seventh floor of the building known as Langley. But this meeting in March 2018 was different. This was not a regular courtesy call. Cohen was about to update one of his closest allies ‐ CIA director Mike Pompeo ‐ with information that had the potential to change the world and the course of history.

In his three-and-a-half years as the Mossad’s spy chief, Cohen, 58, has transformed the organization into a hard-hitting, risk-taking, history-altering machine. This applies to the Iran arena, to hunting down Hamas’s weapons development, and to convincing African nations as well as Sunni Arab states to go more public about their ties with Israel.

He is the gutsy spy who personally ordered and managed the Mossad’s daring raid to steal Iran’s secret nuclear archives from the heart of Tehran in January 2018. His meeting with Pompeo two months later, but before anything was publicly revealed, was to update him on what the Mossad had found.

'Lack of Belief in Transgenderism' Is 'Incompatible With Human Dignity,' UK Court Says
h/t Instapundit
[PJMedia] In June 2018, David Mackereth, a British medical doctor and disability assessor, was effectively forced out of his job for disagreeing with transgender identity. He cited his Christian belief in Genesis 1:27, that God created humans male and female, along with basic genetics. He sued his former employer, the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), claiming discrimination for his beliefs. Tragically, the employment tribunal ruled that he was not discriminated against, while actively demonizing ‐ if not outlawing ‐ his beliefs.

In a decision handed down Wednesday, the court ruled that Mackereth's disagreement with transgender ideology is "incompatible with human dignity."

...Ironically, the judges claimed to be upholding religious freedom.
Now let see you tell it to a Muslim doctor

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Russia offers to form security organization to protect Persian Gulf
[ALMASDARNEWS] Russia offers to establish an organization with the participation of Russia, the US, EU states and other countries in order to resolve the issues in the Persian Gulf, Russian President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
stressed on Thursday during the plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club.

"I would like to remind you that following this logic, Russia has come up with the concept of ensuring collective security in the Persian Gulf in July of this year. I think that taking into account the volatile and unpredictable situation in the region, the idea remains topical. We offer to put aside our differences and mutual claims and to establish an organization for security and cooperation in the region basically from scratch, which would include the Gulf States and which could involve Russia, China, the US, the EU, India and other interested states as observers," he said.

On July 23, the Russian Foreign Ministry introduced a concept of collective security in the Persian Gulf region.

The concept includes forming an initiative group to organize an international conference on security and cooperation in the Persian Gulf area, which would lead to the establishment of an organization for security and cooperation in the region. Besides, Moscow offered to establish demilitarized zones in the region, abandon permanent deployment of units of non-regional states and establish military hotlines.

Earlier, during a joint presser on the outcomes of the talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Iranian top diplomat Mohammad Javad Zarif welcomed the Russian initiative. He added that Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
offers to create a coalition on security in the Persian Gulf, including Iraq, Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...

The Grand Turk
Turkish opposition leader vows to expose Erdogan’s policies in Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] Head of the Ottoman Turkish Republican People’s Party (CHP) Kemal Kilicdaroglu called for dialogue and coordination with Syria and for unifying efforts to eliminate terrorist organizations, particularly in in the Idlib Governorate, saying that his party will continue to expose the policies of His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
’s regime.

During a meeting of the CHP Executive Committee on Wednesday, Kilicdaroglu referred to the concluding statement of the conference which was organized by his party a few days ago with the participation of other parties, saying "It is clear that there is no solution to the crisis in Syria except through political means which entails a joint work against all terrorist organizations which spread in it, particularly in Idlib."

The concluding statement called upon the authorities of Erdogan’s regime to pull out the Ottoman Turkish troops from the Syrian territories and to stop supporting terrorists, particularly in the Idlib province.

Kilicdaroglu, during the meeting of the Executive Committee, underlined the necessity of dialogue and direct coordination with the Syrian state in order to solve the crisis in Syria and to overcome its consequences in a way that would reflect positively on the nations of the region.

Over the past years, Erdogan’s regime has supported the destabilization of Syria through different means, including the transfer of arms to krazed killer groups and providing these gangs with unlimited access to Syria’s northern border.

Not Again! Beto Mocked After Livestreaming Another Doctor Visit
[NEWS.GRABIEN] It looks like Beto’s guns were already confiscated.

In his latest attempt at generating buzz, the last-place 2020 candidate livestreamed getting a flu shot, but probably wishes it was an inoculation against mockery.

As O’Rourke;
...Kennedyeque businessman, musician, skateboard artiste, and politician who represented Texas' 16th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 2013 to 2019. Beto is a Latino nickname for people whose names end in "erto," like "Roberto" or "Alberto." He is seeking the Dem nomination for President in 2020 because he has nice hair and lots of teeth. He was born into a local political family in El Paso, Texas and is a graduate of a prep school and Columbia University, which is not in Texas. In 2005, he was elected to the El Paso City Council. He was elected to Congress in 2012 after defeating eight-term incumbent Silvestre Reyes in the Democratic primary. He declined to seek re-election in 2018, instead running for the Senate against Republican Ted Cruz, running a campaign that drew national attention because of his skateboarding skills. A few months after he lost, he announced his campaign for President...
winced during the vaccination, many online couldn’t help but laugh:

O’Rourke, whose earlier stunts included livestreaming a dental cleaning, skateboarding on stage, and attempting to play the drums, is apparently hoping that broadcasting his flu shot over social media will put him back onto Democrats’ radar.

O’Rourke’s current RealClearPolitics polling average is 2.2 percent.

Paris knife attacker who killed 4 in police headquarters had converted to Islam
Follow up to yesterday's breaking report.
[NYPOST] The deranged employee who stabbed four people to death ‐ including three cops ‐ inside a Gay Paree police headquarters had converted to Islam 18 months ago, according to a report.

The 45-year-old deaf IT worker ‐ identified in media reports as Michael Harpon attacked three members of the police force’s intelligence division Thursday inside two ground floor offices, then went into a stairwell and assaulted two women, French newspaper Le Gay Pareeien reported.

One of the women survived and underwent emergency surgery after the attacks. She was listed at death's door.

The attacker was bumped off in a courtyard at the police facility by an officer described as a young "police trainee."

Harpon, a native of the island of Martinique, married in 2014, and he and his wife lived in a quite suburb north of Gay Paree, according to Le Gay Pareeien.

He converted to Islam 18 months ago but neighbors told local news hounds that there were no signs he was radicalized ‐ nor are police in Gay Paree treating the incident as a terrorist attack.

French authorities took the man’s wife into custody in the aftermath of the grisly attack, according to CNN.

The fifth victim in the stabbing was at death's door and underwent surgery Thursday.

In 2014, he married wakandan muslim Ilham Edibbe Yupp ! who radicalized him over a period of 4 years, while bearing him a brood of future crazies, two I believe. Now, she says he was hearing odd voices and seeing things.
I should think a deaf man'd be pretty pleased to hear anything, innit ? But nope. A Beethoven he was not.
Since 2018 he was probably mustering up the ingrate gall needed to shit upon the country and the people that he'd worked with for years. He had been actively posting to and delving into the facebook journals of fellow mullah chimps black islamic revolutionaries from Mogadishu to Khartoum. He got an undetectable ceramic knife through mandatory checking into the premises, and ... did his thing, his stuff.

Terrorism is being denied by the police but the wife is under investigation by the French DGSI, it is believed to have an ISIS connection, which is why she's been detained for now.

A report ?

Contrary to popular news, the locals are quite happy with the integration thingy, their only issue is with the inability to watch netflicks and video call uncle Abdul in Dubai. The state boundaries will be redrawn soon, creating different administrative divisions and public service corporations. This should allow for last-mile reach of many hitherto unavailable services to most people, including the thin long arm of the law. /sarc

About a hundred children were 'detained', yes. They were fed, clothed and put in a nice playschool with psychiatrists and toys after they were found wandering, begging in the streets and offering to throw stones for islamists at Rs. 10 per projectile. Heartless.

The trouble in Soura shall shortly be taken care of. We're treating it with sensitivity and in a rather humane way. We won't rush in guns blazing. The plan for now is to simply starve them, and make them watch their near-district neighbours avail of public services.

Top secessionist leaders' accounts were seized and their properties, any capital accrued for their NGOs, all appropriated by the central govt. All of it designated as illegal and part of terror financing networks, even grannies' piggybanks taken away. The Andrabi lady's money is gone POOf ! Top Hurriyat leaders are now destitute. Not that they'll need money in jail. I wonder who shall pay the burqa-ed freedom fighter's son's school fee in Australia. Oh well...

A number of louts were roaming in the valley shooting up and threatening people not to open their shops or send kids to school, so as to give an impression a lá Xinjiang. Some of these shall never be seen again, some are in jail indefinitely. Two govt owned holiday resorts full of dissident nuisances are being investigated slowly, there cases shall keep the public prosecutors entertained for another decade or so.

So there. Hmmm... rather eventful in retrospect.

#15  TW, Soura is a small community residential half a klick west of the Leh-Srinagar highway, situated on Anchar lake. It's a pretty little place but home to some of the most pig-headed muslims and host Pakistain infiltrated mujahids who cross into Kashmir. Also called the Gaza of Kashmir, as if that's an achievement. We're not allowed to go in there, and they'll stone us if we approach.

Many jihadists are holed up in there, behind families and facades of normal homes and schools. They've declared themselves 'independent' for the 740th time and have barricaded their village with stuff. Because those living here are the most radicalized of all in Kashmir, it is probable we'd have to do something ... unsavory to a large number of people.

So, there's constant brainstorming about how best to break their will and mainstream these bastards, without appearing like bad guys. One reason may be the fact that it's also the home constituency of the Abdullahs, the original dynasts who have ruled Kashmir for decades before the left lost power to outright secessionists. But, I really don't know why we can't just kill 'em all.

Afghan Taliban delegation meets Qureshi at foreign ministry
[DAWN] The high-level Afghan Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
delegation currently in Islamabad to meet the Pak leadership was received by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Wormtongue Qureshi
...a Pak political shape-changer. He is undistinguished except for his habit of periodically needing to have his lips reattached...
at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thursday morning, according to a blurb issued by the Foreign Office (FO).

During their meeting with the foreign minister, the delegation of the Taliban Political Commission (TPC) in Doha discussed the regional situation, the Afghan grinding of the peace processor and other issues of mutual interest.

Inter-Services Intelligence
...the Pak military intelligence agency that controls the military -- heads of ISI typically get promoted into the Chief of Army Staff position. It serves as a general command center for favored turban groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad, tries to influence the politix of neighboring countries, and carries out a (usually) low-level war against India in Kashmir...
Director General Lt Gen Faiz Hameed, Foreign Affairs Secretary Sohail Mahmood and other FO officials were present for the meeting.

According to the FO, this is the first visit of a Taliban delegation to Pakistain since the establishment of the TPC.

The FO had revealed a deal earlier that an Afghan Taliban delegation was to visit Islamabad to review progress under the stalled US-Taliban peace talks.

"Both countries are equally facing the consequences of instability in Afghanistan over the past 40 years," Qureshi was reported as telling the delegation. He also said that Pakistain understands that war is not the solution to any problem.

Qureshi said that in order to establish peace in Afghanistan, negotiations were the only possible and "positive" option.

The foreign minister said that Pakistain has played the mediator's role in the Afghan peace progress and emphasised that a peaceful Afghanistan was necessary for peace and stability in the entire region.

ISIS suffers heavy losses in failed attack along key Syrian highway
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS
...embracing their inner Islamic Brute...
/ISIS/IS/ISIS) took a big risk on Wednesday when their forces attempted to attack the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops along the Deir Ezzor-Sukhnah Highway.

Under the cover night, the Islamic State snuffies began their attack by storming the Syrian Army’s defenses along the part of the highway that stretches from al-Sukhnah in eastern Homs to al-Shoula in western Deir Ezzor.

During the fierce confrontation, the Islamic State tried to advance their positions in this desert region, but were ultimately forced to retreat after several hours of battle along this key roadway in eastern Syria.

According to a military source in the Palmyra (var. Tadmur) area, the Syrian Arab Army managed to kill and wound several Islamic State terrorists, while further securing the road between al-Sukhnah and Deir Ezzor.

The source said the Syrian Arab Army had recently deployed several units to this front in order to ensure the safety of the Deir Ezzor-Suknah Highway.

He would add that all reports about the Islamic State capturing al-Sukhnah from the Syrian Army are false and spread by pro-militant media.

Since the Syrian Army’s successful military operation in western Deir Ezzor in September, the Islamic State has been forced to concentrate their attacks on the al-Sukhnah and Palmyra area of eastern Homs.

Residents Take Protest To Kabul As Takhar Security Deteriorates Despite Clearing Actions
[ToloNews] "The Afghan central government sent a delegation to Takhar three days ago...they only take pictures and post them on Facebook."

Some residents from the northern province of Takhar on Thursday staged a protest in Kabul to give get attention for what they described as an unprecedented wave of insecurity in the placid provincial capital Taluqan.

The protestors, who were carrying placards, warned that the city is on the verge of collapsing to Taliban
...Arabic for students...
control if the central government does not take action in time to thwart the bully boy threat.

They said that fierce battles are going on in the suburbs of the city, warning that if reinforcements weren’t dispatched to the area, there would be a human tragedy in the city.

"The Afghan central government sent a delegation to Takhar three days ago, but no breakthrough has been achieved out of this trip, they only take pictures and post them on Facebook. If they do not take action, our province will face a similar human tragedy that we witnessed in Kunduz," said Mehrullah Amiri, a civil society activist from Takhar.

"The main objective of our protest is to raise our voice in defense of our defenseless people. Fighting has been ongoing for several days in the suburbs of the city, and our security forces are under the siege," said Azizurrahman, a civil society activist in Takhar.

This comes a few days after the Taliban launched coordinated attacks on Takhar’s Baharak and Khawja Ghar districts from Kunduz province, and then infiltrated some areas near Taluqan city, the capital of Takhar.

On Thursday, provincial governor Abdul Haq Shafaq said that extra troops have been sent to Takhar to deal with the situation.

He said that the Taliban will never succeed in taking control of the city.

"There were reports that enemy forces had entered Taluqan city and that the city is on the edge of collapse; I strongly deny this, the fall of the city is impossible," said Shafaq.

Afghan Interior Ministry officials also said that the Afghan cops have repulsed the Taliban’s attack on Taluqan.

"There are no threats against Taluqan city. Joint operations of the Afghan Security and Defense Forces are on track, the operations will continue until all threats are tackled," said Nusrat Rahmi, a front man for the Afghan Ministry of Interior (MoI)

According to the residents, the Taliban have also attacked Afghan forces in Baharak, Khawja Ghar and Chah Ab districts.

Clearing Operations In Takhar Center, Taluqan

[ToloNews] Several days of fighting have resulted in over 30 killed, 40 wounded.

Afghan Army commandos, in coordination with other Afghan security forces in Takhar province, on Tuesday conducted a clearing operation in Taluqan, the provincial capital, the Ministry of Defense reported.

According to the statement, Taliban attacks in several parts of the city have caused heavy casualties.

A Takhar police spokesman, Khalil Aser, said that currently the defense and interior deputy ministers, and the provincial security chief, are in Taluqan to coordinate forces in the province.

Reports indicate that more than 30 have been killed and more than 40 wounded in the fighting, and that dozens of families have been displaced from Taluqan, Khowja Ghar and Baharak districts.

On Monday, Mohammad Jawad Hijri, spokesman for the Takhar governor, said that over the past few days the Taliban attacked areas close to Taluqan, including Baharak district, in order to disrupt the election process and to take control of areas close to the capital.

Officials also said that the Taliban are from neighboring Kunduz and Baghlan provinces.

Hijri said that security forces now have control of the police headquarters, and that airstrikes have killed 36 Taliban. Also, ANDSF reinforcements have arrived to push back the Taliban.

Hijri did not provide specific numbers about military or civilian casualties.

Iraq declares curfew in Baghdad to protect residents, 31 total dead and 1188 maimed since Tuesday
[PRESSTV] Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi has declared a curfew in the capital, Baghdad, until further notice as protests continue against alleged economic problems. In a statement released on Thursday, Abdul-Mahdi said "all vehicles and individuals are totally forbidden to move" in Baghdad from 05:00 a.m. local time (02:00 GMT).

Travelers to and from the city’s airport, and ambulances, babus government employees in hospitals and in electricity and water departments, as well as religious pilgrims are exempt from the curfew, the statement added.

It gave provincial governors discretion whether to announce curfews in their provinces.

GOVERNMENT STRESSES RIGHT TO PEACEFUL PROTEST
Before announcing the curfew in Baghdad, the Iraqi premier held an emergency meeting with members of the National Security Council.

"The council stressed that appropriate measures should be taken to protect citizens and public and private properties," read a statement released by Abdul-Madhi’s office on Wednesday, expressing the government’s resolve to make all efforts "to meet the legitimate demands of the demonstrators."

The council further affirmed the demonstrators’ "right to protest" and "freedom of expression..., but at the same time condemns the acts of vandalism that accompanied the protests."

Curfews had already been imposed in the Iraqi cities of Nasiriyah, Amarah, and Hilla.

Demonstrations erupted on Tuesday over what is said to be unemployment and poor public services.

31 dead, 1188 maimed in Iraq since anti-gov’t protests started Tuesday

[Rudaw] Iran urges pilgrims to postpone Iraq visits as deadly protests spread.

Shiite pilgrims should postpone their Arbaeen pilgrimage to Iraq’s holy shrine cities until mass protests sweeping the country die down, Iran’s foreign ministry said in a statement Thursday.

"We are certain that the government and the people of Iraq will act to calm down the tense atmosphere and will not allow some movement to continue which will be taken advantage of by foreigners," Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

However,
the man who has no enemies isn't anybody and has never done anything...
it called on Iranians "to postpone their trips to Iraq until the conditions settle down and heed the warnings of the political and security officials of the Arbaeen".

A senior pilgrimage official told Iranian state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
the Khosravi border crossing between Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and Iraq has been closed, but other crossings will remain open, Rooters reports.

Millions of Shiite Moslems from across the world travel to Iraq’s holy shrine city of Karbala to mark Arbaeen every year. The ministry’s call to postpone the pilgrimage reflects how violent the protests have become since they began in the capital Baghdad on Tuesday.

Protesters rallied in Tahrir Square to demand action on corruption, unemployment, and the lack of basic services, among other burning issues facing the Iraqi public. Security forces were heavy handed in their response, firing on protesters with live ammunition, rubber bullets, tear gas, and water cannons.

Thirty-one people have been killed and 1,188 maimed across the country since the protests began on Tuesday, Hemin Bajalan, a member of Iraq’s Human Rights Commission, told Rudaw. At least 257 people have been detained. Of these, 209 are still in jug.

Internet services are down across southern Iraqi cities, which have also been placed under curfew.

"The Iraqi government intentionally cutting off internet services for Baghdad and the rest of Iraqi provinces constitutes a violation of the freedom of expression and silences the people," Sarmad al-Badri, media officer of the Iraqi Human Rights Commission, told Rudaw on Thursday.

Rudaw’s news hound in Baghdad could not broadcast live from the protests due to the internet blackout. Reporting from the scene by telephone, he said security forces had imposed an indefinite curfew since 5am. All vehicles and pedestrians have been prevented from entering public spaces including Tahrir Square.

"What do we want? We just want these young people to have jobs, to have money. That is why we are out. We don’t need another thing. Don’t we have oil? We just want to become like an Arab Gulf country," one protestor told Rudaw near the square.

The protests have spread beyond the capital. Rasheed al-Saray, a member of Dhi Qar provincial council, told Rudaw on Thursday protests had broken out there too.

"The protests started in Nasriyah, al-Rafai, al-Shiyukh bazar, al-Shatrah, and al-Diwaya," al-Saray said.

"It is possible for the protests to resurge Thursday evening in a number of towns in Dhi Qar province," he added.

A medical source at the Dhi Qar Health Directorate told Rudaw on Thursday that al-Nasiryah hospital has received three dead and 35 maimed. They expect the number of casualties to rise.

Canada issued new travel advice on Thursday for nationals visiting Iraq.

"Expect road closures, including those leading to the Baghdad International Airport, and areas to be sealed off, including the Green Zone. Curfews and other security restrictions can be imposed at short notice. Restrictions to internet and social media may occur," the Canadian government said.

The protests pose a serious threat to the government of Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi, who has been in office for less than a year. Last summer, Iraqis also erupted into the streets to demand jobs, electricity, and basic services. The violent crackdown which followed cost former prime minister Haider al-Abadi’s chances of securing a second term in office.
Al Ahram adds:
More than half of those killed in the last three days have been in the southern city of Nasiriyah, where six protesters were shot dead and dozens wounded on Thursday alone.

Nearby Amarah has also seen significant bloodshed, with medics and security sources reporting four protesters shot dead on Thursday.

Later in the day, two protestors and a police officer were killed in Diwaniyah, 150 kilometres (100 miles) south of Baghdad, and a curfew was subsequently imposed.

ANGER BOILS OVER
Rallies began Tuesday in Baghdad but have since spread across the mainly Shiite south, including the provinces of Dhi Qar, Missan, Najaf, Basra, Wasit and Babylon. Several cities have imposed curfews, but protesters flooded the streets regardless.

The Kurdish northern regions and Sunni western provinces, meanwhile, have remained relatively calm.

Tensions have been exacerbated by the closure of government offices in Baghdad and calls by firebrand cleric Moqtada al-Sadr for "a general strike". Sadr was behind the last round of major protests in Baghdad in 2016, when his supporters stormed the Green Zone, home to some ministries and embassies. His involvement appears much more limited this time, but if his followers join the protests en masse, the rallies will likely balloon even further.

Approximately 75 percent of Iraq is "offline" after major network operators "intentionally restricted" access, according to cybersecurity monitor NetBlocks.

Coalition troops in Iraq ‘reserve the right' to self-defense after Green Zone blast

[Rudaw] The US-led coalition in Iraq said in a Thursday statement they would reserve the right to defend themselves following a blast earlier this morning in Baghdad’s Green Zone amid escalating unrest nationwide as protesters demand an end to rampant corruption and lack of basic services.

“This morning’s blast in the international zone is under investigation by the Iraqi security forces,” the emailed statement read. ”No coalition facility was struck.”

“We always reserve the right to defend ourselves, attacks on our personnel will not be tolerated,” the statement added.

Russia cautions Israel against further strikes in Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the Asharq al-Awsat publication this week that Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s inside Syria might lead to further destabilization inside Syria.

"Such actions ... further destabilize the situation and could lead to an escalation," Asharq al-Awsat reported Lavrov as saying.

"Syria should not become a platform for implementing plans or settling accounts. The main task of all concerned forces must be to help restore peace to Syrian territory," he added.

Last month, the situation along the Israeli-Lebanese border reached a tipping point when both the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Hezbollah traded attacks.

What began as an Israeli attack on a Hezbollah compound in Damascus quickly turned into an intense conflict between the two forces, with the IDF using a suicide drone to attack the Hezbollah media center in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
"Suicide drone". Let that one sink in
Hezbollah later retaliated by firing a guided missile at an Israeli military vehicle near the southern border of Leb.

Police detain barbers in Charsadda for 'violating ban' against styling of beards
[DAWN] Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police in Shabqadar tehsil of Charsadda detained at least four barbers for styling customers' beards despite an unofficial 'ban' imposed by a local traders' union which had termed such beards "un-Islamic", it emerged on Thursday.

The incident came to the fore in a video widely circulated on social media this week.

In the video, a man named Sameen, who is the president of the shopkeepers union, can be seen guiding police in the arrest of the hairdressers. He asks the hairdressers why they were shaping beards in a "stylish" manner, when there is a "ban" in place on the same.

According to Sameen, some days back the union had "banned the designing of beards" and had informed all hairdressers of the same. "Despite our decision, some shop owners were trimming the beards in stylish designs," the union leader said in the video.

He goes on to say that on the union's complaint, police had arrested four employees from different barbershops. "Police have imposed a fine of Rs5,000 on them each and warned them not to shape beards in that fashion," he claimed.
Kinda makes that nuke exchange with India sound better, hmmm?
Shabqadar cop shoppe confirmed the detentions, which took place on September 30. An official on duty at the station told DawnNewsTV, on condition of anonymity, that the police had received a complaint from an office-bearer of a traders' union.

"They complained that despite a ban on giving a stylish shape to beards, some hairdressers were still doing so," said the police officer, adding that the men were released after a few hours in detention.

Gandhi's ashes stolen and photo defaced on 150th birthday
[BBC News] Thieves stole some of Mahatma Gandhi's remains on what would have been his 150th birthday, police say.

The ashes were taken from a memorial in central India, where they had been kept since 1948 - the year of Gandhi's assassination by a Hindu extremist.

The thieves also scrawled "traitor" in green paint across photographs of the independence leader.

Some Hindu hardliners view Gandhi as a traitor for his advocacy of Hindu-Muslim unity.

This is despite Gandhi being a devout Hindu himself.

Police in Rewa, in Madhya Pradesh state, confirmed to BBC Hindi's Shuriah Niazi that they were investigating the theft on the grounds of actions "prejudicial to national integration" and potential breach of the peace.

Mangaldeep Tiwari, caretaker of the Bapu Bhawan memorial, where the ashes were being held, said the theft was "shameful".

"I opened the gate of the Bhawan early in the morning because it was Gandhi's birthday," he told Indian website The Wire. "When I returned at around 23:00 [17:30 GMT], I found the mortal remains of Gandhi missing and his poster was defaced."

Police took action after Gurmeet Singh - leader of the local Congress political party - filed a complaint.

"This madness must stop," Mr Singh told The Wire. "I urge Rewa police to check CCTV cameras installed inside Bapu Bhawan."

Unable To Compete With Reality, Babylon Bee Founder Starts Real News Site
[Babylon Bee] The Babylon Bee has been a beloved source of satire for exactly 6,000 years. But its founder, Adam Ford, has thrown in the towel after tough competition from reality prevented him from effectively satirizing the news, prompting him to create a real news site instead, Disrn.
Uh huh
"How am I supposed to write satire? Seriously," Ford told reporters. "I mean, look at the news: Donald Trump is the president of the United States, a Commie bartender is in Congress, and seminaries are apologizing to plants. What's wrong with you people!?"

Ford tried to write satire every day but would discover his satirical idea had already been taken by an actual news organization. "Why don't we do a joke about the Democratic Socialists?" he said in the beginning of one writer's room meeting. "We could say that they all shouted, 'Personal point of privilege!' to interrupt the speeches at their conference whenever they're offended."

Why we keep falling for hate-crime hoaxes
[NYPOST] Last month, 12-year-old Amari Allen appeared on television to share how she had been brutalized by racist white boys at Immanuel Christian School in Springfield, Virginia. The sixth-grader, who is black, wept as she recalled how she was pinned down during recess, had her arms pulled behind her back and had a hand placed over her mouth so she couldn’t scream.

She said the boys cut off her dreadlocks, calling it "nappy." By Monday, it was revealed that, following an investigation by Fairfax County Police, the girl admitted she had made it all up.

When the story first broke, left-wing politicians and activists raged. Rep. Rashida Tlaib published a personalized message on Twitter to the girl: "You see, Amari, you may not feel it now but you have a power that threatens their core. I can’t wait to watch you use it and thrive." On Twitter, some even found a way to blame the Trump administration, noting ominously that Vice President Mike Pence’s wife, Karen, teaches art part-time at the school.

#13  Many christian preachers will say that contrition for sins and redemption through repentance are the reason why we must feel sorry for our fathers' follies.

"Out, damn'd spot ! out, I say !"

Irrational guilt and self-pity though, are evil spirits. This white apology stuff probably began in some churches pastored by young Rickys fresh from seminary. Soon, an entire nation was swept up in self flagellation over some voodoo mongering plantation workers.

I never believed the folly was the slavery or the apartheid or the yeehah ! lynchings. The folly was to bringing cheap labor from Africa into America to make a quicker buck than hard work was already delivering.

'the love of money is the root...'

It's not a folly you have to live with though. If there was a unified christian ideal, with brotherly kindness as society's glue instead of some legalistic interpretation of vouchsafed outcomes - society could be healed again.

The farther the nation gets from God, or even rudimentary christian ideals - it shall stumble blindly into legislated lunacy and suffer at the hands of those exploiting it until there's nothing left.

Clint Eastwood Takes Aim at the FBI and the Media in ‘Richard Jewell' Trailer (Video)
[The Wrap] Clint Eastwood points a stern finger at FBI investigators and the media in the first trailer for his new fact-based drama "Richard Jewell," which explores the security guard who reported finding an explosive device at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics ‐ and then was falsely accused of planting it himself.

Paul Walter Hauser ("I, Tonya") stars as Jewell, joined by Kathy Bates as his mother, Sam Rockwell as his attorney, Jon Hamm as the lead FBI investigator and Olivia Wilde as Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Kathy Scruggs.

"They want to fry you," Rockwell’s attorney tells Jewell as the trailer suggests that FBI agents and the media pushed a false narrative of his culpability.

"Jewell fits the profile of the lone bomber, a frustrated white man who is a police wannabe who seeks to become a hero," Wilde’s reporter says at one point, while Hamm and another investigator press Jewell to make incriminating statements on tape "to clear your name."

Milky Way on ‘collision course’ with nearby ‘monster’ galaxy
[NYPOST] The home to all life as we know it, the Milky Way galaxy, is on a “collision course” with its cosmic neighbor, Andromeda, according to a new study.
That does it! I'm leaving!
But you needn’t fret, astronomers say — it won’t happen for about 4.5 billion years.
You mean I have time to pack?
The research noted that Andromeda’s size, significantly larger than the Milky Way, likely makes it a “cannibalistic” neighbor, swallowing up more galaxies in its past than it was previously given credit for.
A rogue galaxy? What will they come up with next?
“The Milky Way is on a collision course with Andromeda in about four billion years. So knowing what kind of a monster our galaxy is up against is useful in finding out the Milky Way’s ultimate fate,” said Australian National University researcher Dougal Mackey in a statement.

“Andromeda has a much bigger and more complex stellar halo than the Milky Way, which indicates that it has cannibalized many more galaxies, possibly larger ones,” Mackey added.

UK court denies Pakistan claim to £35m in Nizam case
[DAWN] THE UK High Court on Wednesday ruled on a drawn-out battle for funds amounting to £35 million by issuing a judgement in favour of the Nizam of Hyderabad and against Pakistain, who had claimed the funds that have been lying untouched in a London bank account for 70 years.

In a lengthy judgement that covers the developments of seven decades, the Royal Courts of Justice in London noted: "Nizam VII was beneficially entitled to the fund and those claiming in right of Nizam VII ‐ the Princes and India ‐ are entitled to have the sum paid out to their order."

The judgement, handed down by Justice Marcus Smithcourt, also said: "Pakistain’s contentions of non-justiciability by reason of the foreign act of state doctrine and non-enforceability on grounds of illegality both fail."

The claim started out years ago as a three-way battle for funds claimed by Pakistain, India and the offspring of the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad. On Wednesday, it culminated in defeat for Pakistain as the court ruled in favour of the Nizam’s descendants ‐ Prince Mukarram Jah, the titular eighth Nizam of Hyderabad, and his younger brother Muffakham Jah. Last year, the two princes joined hands with the Indian government in the legal battle against the government of Pakistain over the funds sitting in a Natwest account here.

Third-year Hamdard University student shot dead during mugging in Karachi
[DAWN] A third-year medical student of Hamdard University was shot dead during an incident of mugging in Karachi on Thursday morning, police and her family said.

The victim, identified as 24-year-old Misbah, was sitting with her father in their car while waiting for her university's point bus near Mochi Mor in Gulshan-i-Iqbal neighbourhood when they were approached by two muggers riding a motorcycle, her uncle Kashif Ahmed told Dawn.

The robbers mugged the girl's father at gunpoint. They then proceeded to the other side of the car and opened fire, hitting Misbah near her eye, Ahmed said.

According to the victim's uncle, the robbers did not take anything away from Misbah and only mugged her father. The family are residents of Abid Town locality.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) East Amir Farooqi said it was "obvious" that the incident was a case of robbery.

He said the girl was not shot because she had resisted the robbery. Instead, one of the two robbers dropped his gun inside the car; he then picked it up and opened fire in a state of panic.

The robbers, who witnesses say were young in age, then fled the scene towards Sohrab Goth.

Another officer, Gulshan SP Shahnawaz Chachar, said that the suspects snatched a mobile phone and wallet from the girl’s father.

Misbah sustained a single bullet wound on her head, confirmed Dr Seemin Jamali, executive director of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

One spent bullet casing fired from a 9mm pistol was recovered from the car and sent to police’s forensic science laboratory to ascertain as to whether the same weapon had been used in past crimes. Police investigators said that the killers were in their early 20s who wore shalwar kameez.

Corps commanders reiterate resolve to give 'befitting response' to any Indian aggression
[DAWN] The military's top brass on Thursday reiterated its resolve to give a befitting response to any Indian misadventure or aggression directed towards Pakistain and not to make any compromises which deny the right of self-determination to the people of occupied Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
The resolve was expressed during a Corps Commanders Conference presided over by Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ today.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that the meeting reviewed the "geostrategic and national security environment" along with the prevailing situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir, which has been under a crippling lockdown for nearly two months now.

"Commanders reiterated resolve for befitting response to any Indian misadventure or aggression being conveyed through irresponsible media statements by Indian military commanders," the military's media wing said.

Researchers warn India-Pakistan nuclear war could kill 100 million
[DAWN] The year is 2025 and bandidos Death Eaters have attacked India's parliament, killing most of its leaders. New Delhi retaliates by sending tanks into Azad Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. (AJK).

Fearing it will be overrun, Islamabad hits the invading forces with its battlefield nuclear weapons, triggering the deadliest conflict in history ‐ and catastrophic global cooling, with temperatures not seen since the last Ice Age.

This scenario was modelled by researchers in a new paper published on Wednesday, which envisaged more than 100 million immediate deaths, followed by global mass starvation after megatons of thick black soot block out sunlight for up to a decade.

It comes at a time of renewed tensions between the two South Asian rivals, which have fought several wars over the Kashmir Valley and are rapidly building up their atomic arsenals.

They currently each have about 150 nuclear warheads at their disposal, with the number expected to climb to more than 200 by 2025.

"Unfortunately it's timely because India and Pakistain remain in conflict over Kashmir, and every month or so you can read about people dying along the border," Alan Robock, a professor in environmental sciences at Rutgers University, who co-authored the paper in Science Advances, told AFP.

#6  Any such war would be fought in POK this time. So if battlefield nukes is all they'll use - it should mean Gilgit Baltistan would be affected most. And the first detection of beta 1 radiation in the conflict shall end the world's long suffering of the 'Stain really. If the TNWs are used in the summer, the winds will carry the rads to China for sure. Besides, China cannot allow an islamic nuke to royally destroy the OBOR pipe dream, now can it ?

The researchers know probably jack and shit about an integrated battle doctrine and the exigencies the Pakistain leaderships have to negotiate to stay in power. Imran Khan couldn't care less about Kashmir or a war. All he wants is to keep the crazies away from himself. I imagine he has to plead with his ISI honchos to keep a lid on their mullah dealings until the next world bank aid is approved. For that he'll say anything and even threaten armageddon at the UN against India. He knows and they all know KAshmir's a moot point by now.

Unsurprisingly, the study concludes with : "There's very little in the history of Indo-Pakistan kinetic conflict to suggest that leadership on either side would continue escalating until they annihilated the other." "But I needed the attention, my tenure almost up, see ?"

#8  A 'suitcase nuke' worth investing the millions that would go into it up to delivery and detonation, would be the size of a small fridge at best. India could just as easily have muslim mercs assemble one right within Pakistain, but not the other way round.

They have more TNWs than longer range strategic missiles. Their Nasr The chinese WS-2 repainted a dung green really. is also a battlefield nuke. The longer range stuff has never been tested for the Indian threat matrix collated for them over the years by foreign militaries. When a Paki officer pees, someone shows him how to unzip first. I doubt the design and delivery of a suitcase nuke is something anyone would help them with, or NY or at least Bombay would have been bigger hits.

#9  I see someone dusted off Carl Sagan's penultimate hoax, nuclear winter. Remember how well he predicted the eternal autumn from the inextinguishable oil well fired sparked by Saddam?

Oh, yeah, US teams put out the fires in a couple of weeks, and there wasn't even any short-term effects from the plumes, let alone long-term.

ISTR later models determine "nuclear winter" wouldn't be a thing, either. For all the energy of the U.S. and USSR arsenals, it wasn't enough to launch enough dust or soot to compare to, say, Krakatoa.

Former Army officer slams de Blasio over veterans services remark
[NYPOST] A former U.S. Army officer hit back at Mayor de Blasio for dismissing as "nonsensical" her claim that he neglected the city’s homeless veterans while he ran for president.

The mayor made the comment Thursday at the Intrepid Museum, when a Post news hound asked him about former Army Officer Kristen Rouse attributing a decline in housing for homeless vets to the mayor’s absenteeism during his failed 2020 run.

"That is a nonsensical question," de Blasio sniffed.

Rouse, who did three tours in Afghanistan and now runs NYC Veterans Alliance, was at the presser.

"That is not a nonsensical question," she told The Post after the event.

The mayor’s own annual Management Report released last month found that spending at his Veteran Services Department jumped from $3.6 million to $5.4 million in the last fiscal year, but it placed 7 percent fewer homeless veterans in housing and provided 6 percent fewer veterans supportive services.

"It certainly has not been helping anyone that Mayor de Blasio has been absentee these last many months," Rouse said about the report in September.

On Thursday she also called de Blasio disingenuous for boasting about a "97 percent drop in street homelessness among veterans" under his mayoralty.

"There’s more than 600 vets in homeless shelters," Rouse said.

"If you’re in a homeless shelter you are homeless. Homeless shelters are not nice places to be. A lot of those veterans are out on the streets during the day," she said.

She added that many former military members in shelters are awaiting permanent housing, which they can’t afford because public vouchers aren’t enough to cover the steep cost of renting an apartment in the Big Apple.

"Our mayor has made big promises," Rouse said, noting his pledge to build historic levels of affordable housing.

"But the mayor’s been off doing everything but delivering on his promises," she said.

The declining services at the veterans’ agency are just the latest example of Hizzoner’s rhetoric falling short of his actions.

De Blasio also claimed he’s divested fossil fuels from the city’s pension fund, even though that process has only just begun, and rolled out a plan for national campaign finance reform while fending off ethics questions about his own political fundraising.

A de Blasio spokeswoman said, "The Mayor has done more to support our veterans than any mayor who has come before him. Any suggestion to the contrary is just petty."

PPP, PML-N's position uncertain as Fazl announces 'Azadi march' against govt on October 27
[DAWN] Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...a Pak religious party. It is usually part of the govt, never part of the solution...
- Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman
...Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty...
announced on Thursday that the party will begin its anti-government 'Azadi march' on October 27.

"The current government is the result of a fake election and fake results," said Rehman during a presser.

The PPP and PML-N, who along with the JUI-F had been holding near-daily meetings with each other to debate the anti-government action to be taken, have yet to indicate whether they will join the march on Oct 27.

The JUI-F chief said that all opposition parties had rejected the July 25, 2018 elections and had called for fresh elections. "In this regard, the Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal have carried out 15 'million marches' in the country to raise awareness among the people," he said.

"As a result of this illegal government and its incompetencies, the country's economy has sunk [...] traders have shut down businesses as a result of heavy taxation. The Moslems of Pakistain are in anguish over the state of religion in the country," he continued.

He said a meeting of JUI-F members was held today in which it was decided that on October 27 ‐ the day celebrated by Kashmiris across the world as Black Day ‐ the party will express complete solidarity with Kashmiris and with those demonstrations, a march on Islamabad will begin.

"This will be an Azadi march. Groups of people from all over the country will embark on this journey which will culminate in Islamabad, where we will send the government packing," he said.

Afghanistan
Taliban Has Lost Command And Control Of War: Interior Minister Andarabi
We were wondering about the skill level of the Afghan forces the other day. Here is a datum:
[ToloNews] Confidence in Afghan forces grows after election, but fierce fighting spreads to the north.

The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
has lost the initiative in the war and has no choice but to join the grinding of the peace processor, the acting interior minister Massoud Andarabi said on Wednesday.

Andarabi, visiting Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, said that security forces prevented the Taliban from gaining political power through fighting, and that the Taliban have no choice but to either join the grinding of the peace processor or be eliminated.

"The Taliban has lost command and control; the only way left for them is the grinding of the peace processor," Andarabi said.

Calling on Taliban members, Andarabi said: "If you can, come and achieve your goals through the way of peace. We have proven that the security and defense forces will certainly not allow any power to grow or succeed through the bloodshed of Afghan people."

Andarabi made these remarks at a ceremony concluding a training course for special forces soldiers and officers at the Special Forces Command Training Center in Mazar-e-Sharif.

Nearly 200 soldiers and officers of the Special Forces have received six months of professional training from local and foreign trainers.

The Ministry of Interior Special Police Units general commander, Brig. Mir Ahmad Azimi, and the Special Police Units Training Center commander attended the ceremony. During the remarks, it was announced that security forces have rescued the Zari district of Balkh, the Tala Wa Barfak district of Baghlan, and the Darzab district of Jawzjan province.

"Three days ago, there was a lot of fighting in the district of Drazab, but 45 of our troops went there and rescued the district, and those who went to rescue the district had graduated from this same center," Azimi said.

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, there was only one thought in the mouse's mind: I can do this! I can do this! Then the trap sprung...
an American trainer who spoke at the ceremony said that the soldiers’ newly-acquired skills will give them a competitive edge.

"I don’t care what enemy you face, Taliban, ISIS
...embracing their inner Islamic Brute...
, al-Qaeda, they are not as good as you. Yes, they are dangerous, but you are better trained and you are more determined and you will defeat them every time," said the American trainer.

Acting Minister Andarabi also praised the security forces for being impartial on the Presidential election day.

"The neutrality of the police in this election was unprecedented," Andarabi said.

The forces have obtained their certificates as insecurity has spread to a number of northern provinces, and Afghan people are now wondering whether they will take the initiative on the battlefield or not.

IRGC's intelligence unit thwarts Arab-Israeli plot to assassinate Gen. Soleimani
[PRESSTV] The intelligence unit of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has thwarted an Arab-Israeli plot to assassinate Major General Qassem Soleimani
, a globally famous defense strategist who played a key role in the counter-terrorism operations that led to the collapse of the ISIS
...embracing their inner Islamic Brute...
terror group in Iraq and Syria.

Hossein Taeb, the head of the IRGC’s intelligence unit, said on Thursday that plot ‐ hatched by Hebrew-Arab intelligence services
...an oddly specific combination...
‐ would see a team of terrorist recruits enter Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
to pave the way for a kaboom targeting Soleimani, who commands the IRGC’s Quds Force, in the country’s southeastern province of Kerman.

According to Taeb, the holy warriors were supposed to buy a place next to a Husseiniyah (religious hall) belonging to General Soleimani’s late father, plant 350-500 kilograms of explosives beneath the place, and blow up the site during Tasu’a and Ashura mourning processions marking the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (PTUI!), the third Shia Imam, on September 8-9.

The plotters were, however, under watch since they transferred the terrorist cell’s members to a neighboring state
...Israel is not a neighbour of Iran, as I understand the region’s geography. Looking at a map, Pakistan’s Balochistan province facing Iran’s southeastern Sistan&Baluchistan province, both sides of the border populated by excitable Sunni Balochis. A number of jihadi groups find sanctuary on the Pakistani side of the border, from there stealing into Iran to cause problems for those dreadful Shiites...
for high-cost training programs before carrying out the terror plot, the IRGC official said.

Following a “precise and smart intelligence operation,” the IRGC’s intelligence unit “succeeded in arresting the three-member team,” he said, adding that the “Hebrew-Arab services” had spent several years to draw up the plot for such crime.
Rudaw adds:
Qasem Soleimani has been on the US Department of State’s list of sanctioned holy warriors since 2007. He is believed to receive direct orders from Khamenei and is the main architect of the Iran policy across the Middle East.

Soleimani is a central figure in the dispute between Iran and the United States over IRGC activities across the Middle East, including in Iraq, Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
and Leb.

Iran denies ships carrying grain are held up outside ports over payment
[PRESSTV] Iranian authorities have rejected reports suggesting that ships carrying imports of food and grain have been stuck outside two main ports in southern Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
simply because American sanctions on the country are creating payment problems.

A senior government official in the southern Iranian province of Khuzestan confirmed on Thursday that ships carrying basic goods were waiting for discharge outside Imam Khomeini Port, Iran’s main port for goods, but he insisted they had been stuck because of increased import activity at the port.

The comments came after the Rooters news agency claimed in a report that at least 20 dry bulk ships carrying around one million tons of grains were waiting outside Imam Khomeini Port for unloading. It said other vessels had waited for weeks for their cargoes to be processed in the port and in Bandar Abbas, another major cargo port on the Persian Gulf.

#1  Imam Khomeini port is one of the hottest most miserable ports on earth. Food and grain in bulk are perishable commodities; thus, there indeed must be something wrong if the ships are not being off-loaded.

Europe
Facebook suffers legal blow in EU court over hate speech
[DAWN] Facebook on Wednesday was dealt a major blow in the EU's top court, which ruled that national courts in Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
can order online platforms to remove defamatory content worldwide.

In a closely watched judgment, the European Court of Justice said EU law "does not preclude" courts from ordering "the removal of information or to block access worldwide," a statement said.

The decision will be seen as a victory for EU regulators, who are ambitious to see US tech giants meet tightened European standards over hate speech and offencive content.

Last week, the same court decided that Google was not legally compelled to apply the EU's strict "right to be forgotten" rules globally, in a victory for the search giant.

The latest case was brought originally to an Austrian court by Greens party politician Eva Glawischnig, who requested the removal of Facebook posts that the judges found defamed her and could be seen by users of the social network around the world.

A higher Austrian court referred the case to the EU's top court for an opinion and the judgment, which cannot be appealed, will now be used as a reference Europe-wide.

In addition to the deletion of messages, the Greens had demanded Facebook provide information to determine the identity of people in fictitious accounts that often carried the most virulent comments.

The original complaint concerns messages from one of these fictitious accounts, which according to the Greens, had called Eva Glawischnig a "corrupt" person and which the social network refused to delete.

With the decision, Facebook and similar platforms such as Twitter, face a greater obligation to monitor their content and take down content found to be offensive or hateful.

#3  Rhetorical Question: so if Putin demanded, in a EU Court, that anything (quote) defaming (unquote) him be pulled ... what then?

That would be different because ...shut up, peasant! (/sarc)

Britain
Britain unveils new Brexit plan with warning over no deal
[DAWN] Britannia on Wednesday unveiled its own Brexit plan for keeping the Irish border open, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson
...pro-Brexit British prime minister, succeeding no-Brexit Theresa May. BoJo is noted as much for his sparkling personality and his hair as for his Conservative policies....
warning the only alternative was leaving the Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an Union on Oct 31 without any deal.

After earlier saying that this was his "final" offer made 29 days before the Brexit deadline, Johnson wrote in a letter to European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker that London’s long-awaited proposal was "a reasonable compromise".

Central to the plan is the removal of the so-called "backstop" to prevent the return of customs posts between EU member Ireland and the British province of Northern Ireland once the UK ends its 46-year involvement in the European project.

That plan would effectively keep Britannia in a temporary customs union with the EU, which Brexit-backing critics argued would force London to abide by the bloc’s rules indefinitely and nullify the 2016 EU referendum’s results.

Johnson told Juncker that the EU plan was "a bridge to nowhere". "A new way forward must be found," he wrote.

After a phone call later on Wednesday, Juncker warned Johnson there were "problematic points" in Britannia’s new proposal, but said EU negotiators would "examine the legal text objectively".
