Europe
UN warns Europe against 'backtracking' on migrant commitments
Multiple UN agencies issued a warning to European leaders who might use the tragedy to advance anti-migrant policies, stressing that many of those seeking refuge in Europe have also been the victims of extremists.
So Europe is beginning to show a little sense --a little-- but the hidebound UN is still operating as if there are no problems.

I used to advocate that the UN headquarters be moved to Tanzania. I now think the UN headquarters should be moved to Raqqa, Syria. Let the diplomats learn first hand the consequences of foolish thinking.
Of the estimated 1.1 million migrants who have landed in Europe via the Mediterranean since 2013, less than six "have raised questions in terms of possible links to extremism," said International Organization for Migration spokesman Joel Millman.

Millman noted that the IOM, which received that information from individual governments, has no evidence that any of those people were ever involved in acts of violence.

French sources have said that a passport found near the body of one of the Stade de France suicide bombers may have belonged to a Syrian -- possibly an ex-government soldier -- who registered on the Greek island of Leros on October 3. Using that information as a pretext to curb migration by vulnerable people into Europe could prove disastrous, UN representatives said.
Disastrous to whom?
"We are concerned about the reactions from some states to end programmes being put in place, backtracking from commitments made to manage the refugee crisis," said UN refugee agency (UNHCR) spokeswoman Melissa Fleming.

"Refugees should not be turned into scapegoats and must not become the secondary victims of these most tragic events," Fleming added.

450 liters of chemicals used in rocket production uncovered on way to Gaza
[Jpost] Dual-use material, found in sufficient quantity for a "large quantity of rocket fuel" confiscated at West Bank crossing

A Paleostinian truck was discovered smuggling hundreds of liters of the banned substance TDI, with the intention of transporting the goods to the Gazoo Strip, the Defense Ministry revealed on Monday.

The truck, which was crossing from Judea into Green Line Israel through the Tarkumiya crossing, was registered as carrying a delivery of "soybean oil." The vehicle aroused the suspicion of inspectors from the Defense Ministry's Crossings Authority, and a preliminary chemical test on the oil containers discovered an unidentified substance.

The material was confiscated and sent to a lab for detailed testing, where it became clear that the liquid inside the containers was the dual-use material TDI, prohibited from entering the Gazoo Strip.

Big socialist governments require open borders and massive immigration
[The Express - Published: Sat, Oct 11, 2008] A controversial taxpayer-funded "job centre" opened in Mali this week is just the first step towards promoting "free movement of people in Africa and the EU".

Brussels economists claim Britain and other EU states will "need" 56 million immigrant workers between them by 2050 to make up for the "demographic decline" due to falling birth rates and rising death rates across Europe.

The report, by the EU statistical agency Eurostat, warns that vast numbers of migrants could be needed to meet the shortfall in two years if Europe is to have a hope of funding the pension and health needs of its growing elderly population.

It states: "Countries with low fertility rates could require a significant number of immigrants over the coming decades if they want to maintain the existing number of people of working age.

"Having sufficient people of working age is vital for the economy and for tax revenue."

The report, by French MEP Francoise Castex, calls for immigrants to be given legal rights and access to social welfare provision such as benefits.

Ms Castex said: "It is urgent that member states have a calm approach to immigration. To say 'yes', we need immigration ... it €‚is not a new development, we must accept it."€‚
Appears to be long in the making and entirely self-inflicted. The current unrest is likely viewed by the ruling establishment as little more than growing pains.

#1  Strange, the big socialist government required walls to keep people in 1948-1990. Those were to keep the productive agents in the harnesses. BTW, those on welfare and dependent upon government to sustain them (non-productive) don't generate much in the way of taxes.

#4  what have the governments frittered away the taxes on? Those people paid tax while they worked. It should have been saved and invested for pensions.

If you try to prop up the elderly with immigrants all you get is a ponzi scheme + social unrest

and you need to build expensive infrastructure for all the new migrants... new hospitals, schools, roads, these things are not cheap

it is a zero-sum game, it is a stupid idea this idea of endless economic growth through immigration

old people use less resources because they are mostly happy to sit at home and watch TV then go out for the odd lawn bowls and bingo. Give them free public transport and a very low pension they will be happier than if you open the doors to millions of people who do not speak their language or share their culture
Posted by: anon1 || 11/17/2015 10:02 Comments || Top||

#5  The logic only holds if you assume a large government providing lots of social programs. These are expensive and require a large tax base to support.

The leftoids think immigrants will provide this tax base, but in a democracy that's a foolish assumption. At some point large numbers of immigrants might decide that supporting aging Europeans isn't what they want to do with their spare cash.

#12  In an era when people confuse facts with opinions, and even most scholarship is sloppy, Bat Ye'or's exposure and indictment of one of the more ominous aspects of the "European project" is damning. The Islamization of Europe did not happen by accident, developing mainly through shady back-channel deals with Arab governments. But those deals are enshrined in opaque language in obscure agreements that are accessible to the determined scholar. The combination of outrage and patience it took to research and write Eurabia is very impressive.

As for my students, well, there's only so much damage you can undo in 4 weeks. I think the more strident Europhiles at least walked away feeling less certain that Europe's future would be all gum drops and puppy dogs and rainbows.

America's poorest white town: abandoned by coal, swallowed by drugs
[The Guardian] Karen Jennings patted her heavily made up face, put on a sardonic smile and said she thought she looked good after all she'd been through.

"I was an alcoholic first. I got drunk and fell in the creek and broke my back. Then I got hooked on the painkillers," the 59-year-old grandmother said.

Over the years, Jennings' back healed but her addiction to powerful opioids remained. After the prescriptions dried up, she was drawn to the underground drug trade that defines eastern Kentucky today as coal, oil and timber once did.

Jennings spoke with startling frankness about her part in a plague gripping the isolated, fading towns dotting this part of Appalachia. Frontier communities steeped in the myth of self-reliance are now blighted by addiction to opioids -- "hillbilly heroin" to those who use them. It's a dependency bound up with economic despair and financed in part by the same welfare system that is staving off economic collapse across much of eastern Kentucky. It's a crisis that crosses generations.

#1  There are more poor whites than blacks in America. However, due to their race, they don't get the 'victim' card for the power game. Springer folk don't invoke sympathy for their self inflicted choices they make in life.

#2  I've done a fair amount of work in coal-mining country in WV, Eastern, KY and southern Virginia. Contrary to say a Detroit, the poverty in these areas is long-standing. In Detroit, good neighborhoods often become blighted because of increasing poverty in these areas.

Recently, I had occasion to visit relatives in northwest Ohio. Traveling through small towns, I was struck by the blight in many of these small towns. Industry has moved out. Manufacturing has gone to China or just ceased. Many of these small towns are dying whereas 50-60 years ago they were economically vigorous and self-sustaining. They supported most who lived in these towns. And yes, poor whites in this country far exceed the number of poor blacks.

Klingon chief criticises laws and net privacy in wake of Paris attacks
[The Guardian] John Brennan calls for review of reforms such as USA Freedom Act, saying they may have created 'inadvertent or intentional gaps' in security services.
"Intelligence gaps" have always been among us. That's why we have fusion cells and an 'All Source' intelligence approach.
The director of the CIA has criticised "hand-wringing" over the role of spy agencies in hunting terrorists and called for legal constraints on surveillance to be reviewed in the wake of last week's Paris attacks.

John Brennan's comments on Monday represent the most significant pushback yet against recent reforms of a surveillance programme that swept up millions of Americans' telephone records and was exposed by former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden. They came as pressure grew on internet companies in Silicon Valley to share users' data and prompted civil liberties campaigners to warn against an overreaction.
Excuse me, but doesn't someone else do that icky Special Intelligence stuff? Isn't your job mostly Human Intelligence (HUMINT)? Enuf of your lame regime excuses and sock puppetry. Please stay in your lane and concentrate on the job at hand.
"I do think this is a time for particularly Europe, as well as here in the United States, for us to take a look and see whether or not there have been some inadvertent or intentional gaps that have been created in the ability of intelligence and security services to protect the people that they are asked to serve," America's top spy told a summit at the Center for Strategic and International Studies think tank in Washington.

Local Islamic leaders arrested for inciting violence in Jaffa
[Jpost] Police said that the suspects incited the atmosphere at recent protests in the city

A leader of the council of the Islamic Movement in Jaffa and the imam of a Jaffa mosque are among four suspects tossed in the clink
Please don't kill me!
by police Monday on suspicion of inciting violence during protests held in the city in recent months in solidarity with the Paleostinians.

One of the protests in early October descended into violence as rioters shut down the main thoroughfare in Jaffa and masked men threw rocks at police and torched dumpsters.

In a statement on Monday, police said the suspects "incited the atmosphere at recent protests in Jaffa, leading to the throwing of rocks at motorists while endangering bystanders and damaging the public order."

Police also arrested two minors, aged 16, who they say took part in the demonstrations.

All four suspects will be brought for remand extensions in Tel Aviv on Tuesday.

The October 6 violence in Jaffa, in which a handful of coppers were lightly hurt and six protesters arrested for allegedly clashing with police, was some of the worst rioting seen in the city in years. Also in October, violent rioting took place intermittently in cities in the Shfela region, including Ramle and Lod.

Shfela subdistrict police said on Monday they had arrested two minors suspected of throwing rocks at motorists on Route 431 on a number of occasions last month.

Israel outlaws northern branch of Islamic Movement

[Jpost] Israel has resolved to outlaw a domestic Islamist movement with ties to Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, and the Egyptian Moslem Brüderbund, according to a blurb distributed early Tuesday morning by the Prime Minister's Office.

The government says that it has declared the northern branch of the Islamic Movement "an illegal organization."

"The practical significance of this decision is that any entity or individual belonging to the group from hereon out and any individual who grants this organization services or operates under its auspices will have violated a criminal statute and is subject to imprisonment," the government statement read.

The northern branch of the Islamic Movement is led by Sheikh Raed Salah, who has been convicted in court of numerous subversive activities, including funding Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,, contacting an Iranian agent, assaulting a police officer, and leading a violent protest.

In recent months, Salah has been at the forefront of agitating against Israeli rule over Temple Mount. His rallies frequently invoke the mantra of "Al-Aksa is in danger." read.

According to a police statement, authorities began distributing cease and desist notices to 17 non-government organizations and charities with ties to the northern branch.

These notices were handed out to offices in areas with large Arab populations, including Umm el-Fahm, Jaffa, Nazareth, Kfar Kana, Tora'an, Beersheba, and Rahat.

Investigators also conducted searches and confiscated equipment in 13 of the 17 offices. Security forces left with computers, documents, and other material. The authorities also froze bank accounts which are alleged to have facilitated the activities of the movement, resulting in harm done to national security.

A man wearing a Guy Fawkes mask appeared on a video posted to YouTube and said the Islamic State bully boyz who grabbed credit for the Gay Paree attacks were "vermin" and Anonymous would hunt them down.

"These attacks cannot remain unpunished," the man said, speaking in French.

"We are going to launch the biggest operation ever against you. Expect many cyberattacks. War has been declared. Get ready," the man said, without giving details of what the attacks would involve. "We don't forgive and we don't forget."

The video posted to YouTube had attracted more than 1.1 million views by 14:30 GMT on Monday.

Anonymous is an international network of activist computer hackers which has grabbed credit for many cyberattacks against government, corporate and religious websites over the past dozen years.

Since the attack on French weekly Charlie Hebdo
...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe...
last January, which led to the deaths of 17 victims, Anonymous activists have waged an online vigilante campaign to force the shutdown of Twitter profiles suspected of belonging to ISIS supporters.

The group says it has identified more than 39,000 suspected ISIS profiles and reported them to Twitter. It claims to have had more than 25,000 of these accounts suspended, while nearly 14,000 more on the targeted list remain active, according to a list posted to a site calling itself Lucky Troll Club.

Al-Nusra Demands 'Two Syrian Towns' in Return for Freeing Arsal Captives
They'll never give them back -- Lebanon cannot just give away bits of the Syrian landscape.
[AnNahar] Al-Qaeda's Syria branch al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli sh-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
Front has demanded control over two regime-held Syrian towns near Leb and the release of five women from Lebanese jails in return for freeing the captive Lebanese servicemen, a front man for the hostages' families said on Monday.

"Al-Nusra's emir in Syria's Qalamoun, Abou Malek al-Talli, has sent a new demand with the families who visit their sons every now and then in the vicinity of (the Lebanese border town of) Arsal," Hussein Youssef, the father of captive soldier Mohammed Youssef, told The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's state news agency Anatolia.

Al-Talli wants "control over the towns of al-Maara and Flita and the release of five women from Lebanese jails in return for freeing the captives who are in his custody," Youssef said.

He revealed that the families had passed on the new demands to Prime Minister Tammam Salam during their meeting with him on Monday.

"We have full confidence in the premier and in General Security chief Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim and High Relief Council chief Maj. Gen. Mohammed Kheir, who are following up on the case with notable seriousness," the front man added.

Asked about the families' channels of communication with al-Nusra Front, Youssef said the messages are being exchanged through "mediators."

He however noted that contacts have been severed with the holy warrior Islamic State

"We don't know anything about our sons who are in the custody of this group," he added.

The towns of al-Maara and Flita are currently under the control of the Syrian regime and Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
, according to Anatolia.

Syria's civil war has regularly spilled over into Leb, with Nusra and IS jihadists briefly overrunning the town of Arsal in August 2014 after gunbattles with the Lebanese army.

The jihadists withdrew after a ceasefire, but took with them several dozen hostages from the army and police, four of whom have since been executed.

o He said that the issue of refugees and terrorism should not be equated in the aftermath of the Paris attacks

o A handful of Republican governors have publicly pronounced that their states would not accept Syrians

o Obama made a swipe at those GOP leaders - asking them to be more like President George W. Bush in the aftermath of 9/11

Governors of these states have said no to Syrian refugees:
Alabama

Illinois
Iowa
Kansas
Louisiana
Maine

New Jersey
North Carolina
Ohio
Oklahoma
South Carolina
Tennessee
Texas
Wisconsin

Since Friday's attacks, Gov. Rick Snyder of Michigan said his state is postponing efforts to accept Syrian refugees. Yesterday, Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley said he would refuse Syrian refugees trying to enter the state. Today Texas Gov. Greg Abbott ordered that his state's refugee resettlement program not accept any more Syrians. Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson tweeted that he opposed Syrian refugees being relocated into Arkansas. And Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, another GOP presidential contender, issued an executive order to prevent Syrian refugees in the state of Louisiana, according to 4WWL in New Orleans.

Several Democratic governors voiced support for the refugees and echoed Obama's words. Washington Gov. Jay Inslee said his state 'will continue to be a state that welcomes those seeking refuge from persecution, regardless of where they come from or the religion they practice'. Democratic Govs. Tom Wolf of Pennsylvania and Dannel P. Malloy of Connecticut also said their states will have open doors.

PKK militants hide explosives inside policeman’s belongings
[Hurriyet] Outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) Lion of Islams, who had planned a kaboom targeting a ceremony on Nov. 10 in Izmir, hid the explosives inside a truck carrying the belongings of a police officer who was moving his house from Diyarbakir in the southeast to the Aegean city, according to a police report.

Three PKK forces of Evil were detained on Nov. 10, on the 77th anniversary of the death of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founding father of the Republic of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

, for planning a kaboom in Izmir.

Izmir counter-terrorism police detained the Lion of Islams, who had been followed since July, as they were heading to a forested area to collect explosives they had hidden there, including 17.5 kilograms of C-4 plastic explosives and 10 hand grenades, daily Hurriyet had reported.

Fresh police reports said the forces of Evil utilized people working at a transport company, who would carry the household belongings of an unidentified police officer as a way to bypass road controls.

Militants took possession of the explosives, which were hidden inside two wheat sacks, when the truck arrived in Izmir, the reports said.

Later, the explosives, reinforced by additional fertilizers, were hidden in the forest area.

Five people, including two females, were detained for supporting the suspected attackers.

Mali army says arrests Islamist militant figure
[AlAhram] Mali's army has jugged
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
Alaye Bocari, a leading financial supporter of an Islamist Lion of Islam group responsible for an expansion of deadly attacks in the West African nation, military and defence sources said on Monday.

The attacks carried out by the Massina Liberation Front (MLF), led by radical preacher and jihadist Amadou Koufa, have helped shift Mali's three-year-old Islamist conflict from the remote desert north ever closer to its populous south.

Bocari is among Koufa's close collaborators according to intelligence gathered by the military, said army front man Colonel Souleymane Maiga.

"He was arrested on November 13 in the region of Mopti by an army patrol acting on information given by the population," he said.

The arrest, one of around 30 carried out so far during an army operation launched late last month, was confirmed by a defence ministry front man who declined to give further details.

However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
some analysts warned that there were still signs of worsening insecurity in the central region and further east near the border with Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
and south towards Ivory Coast.

"Either the Malian government is overstating the importance of the figures they arrest, or these networks are more durable than the government has indicated," said Andrew Lebovich, Visiting Fellow with the European Council on Foreign Relations.

La Belle France intervened militarily in its former colony in 2013 to drive back Islamist gunnies who seized the north a year earlier, creating what Gay Paree feared could become a base for attacks on Europe. The French military operation drove the fighters from major population centres.

Attacks targeting mainly Malian soldiers and U.N. peacekeepers persist, however, and the military action made French interests the declared targets of groups including al Qaeda's regional franchise.

The Grand Turk
From a year ago: Erdogan's Turkey and Iranian Intelligence
The transformation of Turkey, a frontline state which possesses the second-largest army in the Atlantic Alliance, into something like a frenemy on a good day, from any Western viewpoint, has led to awkward questions about what's really going on in Ankara. These have been asked for years, with whispers mounting about covert Iranian influence at the highest levels of politics and security in Turkey, but it's been easy to dismiss much of this as evidence-free conspiracy-mongering of the sort beloved by Turks of all political colorations. Yet there is now convincing proof that Tehran indeed has a disturbing degree of secret influence in Turkey's ruling circles.

There's no small irony in this, as Erdogan's governance has feasted upon allegations of a Turkish "deep state," a shadowy cabal of secularists termed Ergenekon that the AKP claims have been pulling the secret strings in Ankara for decades. Belief in this "deep state" has provided the AKP with the excuse to jail and otherwise harass hundreds of political foes who deeply oppose the country's Islamist turn under Erdogan. Yet it turns out that Turkey's real "secret team" is the AKP's own, which serves the party's religiously-based agenda and is tightly connected to Iranian intelligence.

The key player in this plot is a shadowy terrorist group termed Tawhid-Salam that goes back to the mid-1990s and has been blamed for several terrorist incidents, including the 2011 bombing of the Israeli consulate in Istanbul, which wounded several people, as well as a thwarted bombing of the Israeli embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia, in early 2012. Tawhid-Salam, which also goes by the revealing name "Jerusalem Army," has long been believed to be a front for Iranian intelligence, particularly its most feared component, the elite Quds (Jerusalem) Force of the Revolutionary Guards Corps (Pasdaran), which handles covert action abroad, including terrorism in many countries. It also is believed to be behind the murders of several anti-Tehran activists in Turkey in the 1990's, using Tawhid-Salam as a cut-out.

For years, Turkish investigators who have tried to determine who stands behind Tawhid-Salam haven't gotten very far, meeting obstruction at every turn, reportedly from the highest levels in Ankara, leading to suspicions that Erdogan and the AKP have something to hide. In recent months, however, the terror group's covert mask has begun to fall, thanks to mounting evidence that Iran indeed is pulling the strings behind Tawhid-Salam, which plays a key role in the Quds Force's global terror campaign against Israel and Western interests.

Similarly, Tawhid-Salam operatives have been observed surveilling an important NATO radar base in Turkey, a sensitive site that monitors possible Iranian missile launches, while other members of the group were witnessed conducting surveillance on the U.S. Consulate in Istanbul, apparently in preparation for a possible terrorist attack. The group's interest in nuclear research materials, discovered during a raid on a Tawhid-Salam safehouse, caused notable alarm in certain circles. Yet, despite the fact that Turkish counterintelligence has repeatedly witnessed Tawhid-Salam members meeting with known Qods Force operatives, nothing was ever done to crack down on the group.

This may have something to do with the fact that Hakan Fidan, the head of Turkish intelligence, is apparently on the Pasdaran payroll too, and may have secret ties to Tehran going back almost twenty years. Rumors about Fidan, a member of Erdogan's inner circle, who has headed the country's powerful National Intelligence Organization (MIT) since 2010, have swirled in counterintelligence services worldwide for years. Israeli intelligence in particular, which once had a close relationship with MIT, has long regarded Fidan as Tehran's man, and has curtailed its intelligence cooperation with Turkey commensurately, believing that all information shared with Fidan was going to Iran.

Privately, U.S. intelligence officials too have worried about Fidan's secret ties, not least because MIT includes Turkey's powerful signals intelligence (SIGINT) service, which has partnered with NATO for decades, including the National Security Agency. As an NSA document stolen and leaked by Edward Snowden explained: "U.S. intelligence reporting in recent years indicates possible Iranian connections with Dr. Hakan Fidan, the head of the MIT/SIB. The possible impact of these connections to the US SIGINT relationship is unknown at this time."

With Hakan providing top-cover, it's no surprise that Turkish investigations into Tawhid-Salam never get very far. Other top figures assessed as being part of the conspiracy include Interior Minister Efkan Ala and ruling AKP spokesperson Besir Atalay. Officials who possess hard evidence of ties between the group and Tehran's spies -- including video and audio surveillance in abundance, as well as the testimony of Tawhid-Salam members who have defected to the police -- have found themselves thwarted, harassed, and even jailed by the AKP. In a typical case, Ali Fuat Yilmazer, former head of the Istanbul police's intelligence unit, conducted an extensive investigation that revealed Tawhid-Salam had penetrated the Turkish government and the AKP at the highest levels, and was a tool of the Pasdaran. For this, he was thrown in jail on trumped-up charges.
Members of the opposition have publicly stated that the AKP is directly linked to Tawhid-Salam and Erdogan's cadres are covering for the group -- and for its Iranian masters -- by stopping investigations, arresting those who speak out, and spreading disinformation while allowing known Iranian intelligence agents to escape Turkish dragnets. Of the 251 suspects named in the thwarted official investigation into Tawhid-Salam, twenty-eight were Iranians, all of them suspected Qods Force operatives; none were called to testify and the AKP did its best to prevent press coverage of the matter. For his part, Erdogan has dismissed the entire issue, terming Tawhid-Salam "fake" and "imaginary."

To say that Ankara seems to be working at cross-purposes in the matter of Tawhid-Salam is too kind. A special prosecutor's investigation of the group, which lasted three years, recently wrapped up with no findings. Prosecutors did not call a single relevant witness to testify, although many suspected Pasdaran/Tawhid Salam operatives have been identified in Turkey, while AKP higher-ups took over the investigation, ensuring it would go nowhere, instead turning it around as a vehicle to harass the AKP's enemies who ask questions about the party's linkages to Tehran. None of the 103 suspects believed to be directly involved in terrorism, including known Qods Force members, who were identified by police inquiries into Tawhid-Salam, were called to share their information with prosecutors.

#1  This article is hardly preposterous. It is recalled that the Terrorist Internationale founded in Khartoum in 1991 had Turks in attendance then and afterwards. Bin Laden, Turabi of Sudan, Ghannouchi of Tunisia, Zindani of Yemen, Mughniya of Lebanon, and other Islamists (qua Muslim Brothers) sought to square the circle and achieve an Islamist rapprochement that would unite Sunni and Shia. That was also the ideal of Ayatollah Khomeini, a Muslim Brother in his youth, until he was attacked by Saddam Hussein. That Erdogan would be in bed with Iran should surprise no one; That he remains an ally of the pro-Iran cabal in Washington also should surprise no one.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israeli troops kill 2 Paleos in raid to raze West Bank home
Israeli troops killed two Palestinian terrorists gunmen during a clash in the occupied West Bank on Monday that was sparked by an army incursion to demolish a jailed terrorist's militant's family home, Palestinian medical sources and residents said.

At least three other terrorists Palestinians in Qalandia refugee camp, near the West Bank city of Ramallah, were wounded in what was the fiercest armed confrontation in a seven-week-old surge of violence.

Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon said the incident would not make Israel rethink the demolitions policy, revived with the permission of Israel's Supreme Court but criticised by civil rights groups that deem it collective punishment.

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyal Al Maliki, speaking on Voice of Palestine radio, described the Qalandia incident as "clear escalation, clear assassination" by Israel.

Israel said its troops had come under attack while razing the home of a terrorist Palestinian who killed an Israeli hiker in the West Bank in June.

"There was, indeed, violent resistance in Qalandia, but the (Israeli military) unit conducted itself in a very professional manner. It also carried out the mission, blowing up the home. It also hit the terrorists gunmen - four of them, according to the unit," Yaalon told Israel Radio.

Asked whether the incident might make Israel think twice about such demolitions, Yaalon said: "Under no circumstances ... There is no doubt fear of a home getting destroyed is a measure that offers great deterrence."

On Sunday, Israel's Shin Bet security service said it detained a terrorist Palestinian for killing two Jewish settlers in the West Bank last week after his relatives, "worried their home might be demolished", turned him in.

Since October 1, Israeli forces have killed at least 78 terrorists Palestinians, 45 of whom Israel says were carrying out or were about to commit attacks. At least 14 Israelis have been killed in stabbings and shootings, or by being run down by cars.

Last month, masked terrorists gunmen in Qalandia, some of them wearing military-style fatigues and identifying with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction, warned Israel against trying to raze the home of jailed resident Muhammad Abu Shaheen.

"This house will be destroyed only over the bodies of 30,000 people living in this refugee camp," one of the armed men, surrounded by cheering supporters, told Israel's Channel 2 TV.
"Hear that Moshe?"
"I heard that, David. Bring up another D9!"
The Jerusalem Post adds:
IDF troops shot and killed three Paleostinian gunnies in the West Bank on Monday morning, after they came under fire while carrying out the demolition of a terrorist's home in Kalandiya, the IDF spokesperson said.

According to the IDF, after the shootout, festivities broke out in the village, with rioters throwing rocks, Molotov cocktails, and using bombs against the soldiers, who escaped without injury.

al Manara bad guys go on trial
Abu Dhabi: Members of the Al Manara terrorist organisation smuggled weapons, ammunition and detonators into the UAE to kill people and overthrow the government, the Federal Supreme Court heard on Monday.

A total of 40 suspected members — including 38 Emiratis — of the terrorist organisation are facing trial at a security court here.

On Monday, two witnesses revealed that the Al Manara suspects had smuggled weapons, ammunition and detonators into the country. The weapons were obtained in collaboration with Syria’s Al Nusra Front and Al Ansar Front in Balochistan province in Iran.

Their intention was to overthrow the government, kill people, attack shopping malls and hotels and declare a Daesh-style caliphate in the UAE, the witnesses told the court.

The state security division of the Federal Supreme Court examined the weapons confiscated from the suspects and heard testimonies of security officers. The hearing was adjourned to December 8 when two videos on the groups’ meeting in Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai will be shown.

Monday’s hearing witnessed defendants and witnesses exchanging accusations. Judge Mohammad Al Jarah Al Tunaiji ordered two defendants be sent back to prison.

The witnesses Rashid Abdullah Saif Al Shamsi and Rashid Sultan Al Niyadi told the court that Shabab Al Manara group, backed by Al Nusra Front and the Iranian Balochistan Liberation Front, smuggled weapons, ammunition, explosives and guns into the UAE.

Charges
The prosecutors have said the suspects are charged with setting up and running terrorist organisation Shabab Al Manara, ‘The Minaret’s Youths’, which upholds terrorist ideology with the intent to commit terrorist acts in the UAE and endangering the country’s security, peace and lives of its leaders and people.

Salem Saeed Kubaish, UAE’s Attorney-General, said that the suspects were also charged with planning to inflict damage on private and public properties to eventually seize power to set up a so-called caliphate state in line with their extremist ideology.
“To carry out their terrorist acts, the suspects procured firearms, ammunition and explosives using funds they raised for this purpose and communicated with foreign militants. These militants provided these suspects with funds and people to achieve their goals inside the country,” Kubaish said.

The State Security Prosecution presented five weapons, including Kalashnikov rifles, MP5 and M16 machineguns, explosives and detonators used in making bombs as well as a huge number of bullets and magazines.

The witnesses said police found these weapons and ammunition in a desert camp in the UAE. They said the group used Al Manara Mosque and Al Arqam School in Dubai to hold meetings and disseminate their terrorist ideology.

Evidence
The evidence consisting of seven boxes of ammunition and weapons was carried by three people into the court. One of the defendants admitted to possessing one of the rifles but said that his father owned it, adding that it was a hunting rifle and was at his father’s home and not with him. A witness testimony revealed that the main defendant, K.K., had lost a son while fighting with Daesh militants in Iraq.

Investigations revealed that the organisation’s members were giving youth lectures that criticise and attack the government and the ruling system in the UAE, criticising the raising of the UAE flag and the standing for the national anthem as these acts are considered blasphemous.

‘Committees, cells set up’
Prosecutors said the suspects set up an organisational structure, including committees and cells with specific tasks. “A leader was appointed to oversee the terrorist organisation, issue orders, instructions, roles and duties for each committee. He was also assigned to set policies. His deputy was assigned to follow up implementation of these policies,” Kubaish said.

The witnesses added these committees were assigned to recruit young Emiratis to instil extremist thought and train them in militant acts and manufacture of explosives at certain camping sites.

Prosecutors said the group also disseminated audio and video material on the internet.

Convicted terrorists face capital punishment, life imprisonment and fines of up to Dh100 million, according to a federal law to combat terrorism endorsed last year.

IS celebrates Paris attacks in Sirte
Photos have emerged of the Islamic State (IS) in Sirte allegedly celebrating Friday’s attacks in Paris which left 129 people dead. IS officials have been happily handing out sweets to local children, applauding the killings.

Rumours in Libya that the French airforce had attacked Sirte were just that – rumours – but there are fears that an attack will come. French planes carried out strikes against IS targets in Syria on Sunday and French President François Hollande has promised that France’s response will be “pitiless”.

A number of top IS figures are reported to have moved to Sirte recently from Syria and Iraq.

For their part, the Libyan government in Beida and the GNC-appointed administration in Tripoli have both strongly condemned the Paris attacks.

Kurds, allies claim liberation of 200 villages
HASAKAH – The Kurdish-Arab alliance of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) regained nearly 200 villages and towns from the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS) in the northeastern Syrian province of Hasakah, the SDF spokesman said on Monday.

The official spokesman of the SDF, Talal Ali Silo, said at a press conference in the recently liberated town of al-Hawl that “between October 30 and November 13, an area of 1,362 square kilometers was cleansed of ISIS”.

The liberated area includes some 200 villages and towns, among them the strategic town of al-Hawl on the Syrian-Iraqi border, which was recaptured by the Kurdish-Arab alliance of SDF on Friday.

The SDF spokesman emphasized that their progress has been achieved with the support of the U.S.-led coalition’s fighter jets and the special Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) –which constitute a leading member of the Syrian Democratic Forces.

The recent military operations in Hasakah province resulted in the death of 493 ISIS militants, 33 SDF fighters and four civilians, according to Silo.

The SDF troops have also sized hundreds of weapons and a large deal of ammunition in the two-weeks operations against ISIS in northeastern Syria.

The Syrian Democratic Forces announced two weeks ago the start of its military campaign for regaining control of the ISIS-held areas in the province of Hasakah. The SDF includes Kurdish forces of the YPG and YPJ, the Syriac Military Council, the Arab tribal group of al-Sanadeed, al-Jazeera brigades, Jaish al-Thuwar group and Burkan al-Furat battalion.

Jubaland says Kenya security wall construction ceased
KISMAYO, Somalia -- Jubaland administration in southern Somalia said, neighboring Kenya has stepped back from a controversial move to construct a security wall along border with Somalia, Garowe Online reports.
Kenya will come to regret this, I think...
Jubaland’s second Vice President, Abdulkadir Haji Mohamed (Lugadere) told VOA Somalia Service that Kenya relinquished its counter-terrorism strategy to bar off Al Shabaab threats through the implementation of ambitious wall project.

Kenya, which just last week began flattening down colonial border posts has not officially rescinded its decision. In weekly cabinet meeting, Somalia’s Federal Government expressed displeasure on the unilateral move.

On smuggling of sugar and charcoal sacks, Lugadere dismissed media reports as ‘propaganda’.
...though no doubt that is the reason.

US-led strikes destroy 116 Daesh fuel trucks in east Syria
Now, they'll have to push all them Hiluxes
Strikes by the US-led air coalition fighting the Daesh group destroyed 116 fuel trucks used by the militant organisation in eastern Syria, the Pentagon said on Monday.

In a statement, the Pentagon said the trucks were destroyed in a single strike on Sunday near Albu Kamal, a Daesh-held town in Deir Ezzor province along Syria's border with Iraq.

Daesh controls most of the oil-rich Deir Ezzor province and part of the city, but has tried for months to seize all of the provincial capital.

Coalition forces conducted 10 strikes in northern, central, and eastern Syria on Sunday, in one of the highest number of raids for the campaign in weeks.

The statement said 13 strikes were carried out in various parts of Iraq on Sunday as well.

A spokesman for the coalition said the strikes were not the first against Daesh fuel trucks, but added "it's the first time that we've hit so many at once".

The trucks had been parked at the time of the strikes, and were "getting ready to either be filled or moved to sell whatever they had in them," he said.

Daesh reportedly makes millions of dollars in revenue from oil fields under its control, and the US-led coalition has regularly targeted oil infrastructure held by the group.

"Our spokesperson Colonel (Steve) Warren previously stated that we were going to start going after Daesh's financial abilities," the spokesman said.

"This strike was part of that strategy to start degrading their financial ability."

Tunisian militants behead 16-year-old shepherd
Tunisian militants have beheaded a 16-year-old boy after accosting him and his cousin, both shepherds, on a mountainside in the central province of Sidi Bouzid, authorities said on Friday.

Walid al-Waqini of the interior ministry said the mayor of Sawar Soultaniya in the province reported the murder.

“A terrorist group intercepted two shepherds on Mount Meghila and cut off the head of one and handed it to the other to return to his family,” Waqini quoted the mayor as saying.

A security source told AFP the pair had been working when “three terrorists headed them off, one raised his gun and fired in the air, the second slaughtered the shepherd with a knife and the third filmed the attack.”

There was no known motive for the killing,
"We are Lions of Islam, granted by Allah to take what we will -- gimme that now!"
which was confirmed to AFP by a senior provincial official in Sidi Bouzid.

IS attacks Brega in response to attack
Islamic State (IS) fighters launched a surprise attack on a Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) position at Brega early this morning, reportedly killing three members. According to a PFG official, the attack on its Brigade No. 152 took place south of Brega. He could give no further details other than that a large number of IS fighters had come from Sirte and Nufaliya.

In a statement, IS said that it had attacked a unit of the Libyan National Army (LNA) rather than the PFG – at the moment both regard each other with suspicion. The attack, the statement added, was in revenge for the air strikes by the LNA against it at Fataieh, south east of Derna.

It also claimed that it had captured a number of vehicles and weapons in the operation.

The most recent air strike against IS at Fataieh, however, was that carried out by the US on Friday night. Ten IS fighters were reported killed.

Sunday’s ground assault against Fataieh was carried out by Derna mujahideen. Like the PFG, they take no orders from the LNA and are regarded by it as renegades, although there have been previous LNA air strikes against Fataieh which appear to have been coordinated with mujahideen attacks.

6 Uzbek militants die in Khost
[KHAAMA PRESS] Six Uzbek militants have been killed in a raid of security forces in Spera District of Khost province, an official said on Monday.

Governor of Spera District said the raid was conducted by Special Forces in Kariza area last night.

Mohammad Azim added that Special Forces took two Uzbek militants with them to Kabul after killing four men and two women in the area.

The district governor did not elaborate more about the foreign militants in his area but they might have spilled over to Afghan territory through the province’s border with Pakistan’s tribal built where reportedly different terrorist groups including Uzbek, Chechen, al-Qaeda, Haqqani and Taliban operate.

Most of the Uzbek militants in Afghanistan and Pakistan fight under the name of Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) which has declared allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

An undated video was released by the group in August purportedly showing its leader Usmon Ghazi and his fighters taking oath of allegiance to ISIS terror group and its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Frontier Corps detains 2, seizes weapons in Balochistan
QUETTA: Frontier Corps personnel on Monday arrested two suspected militants and recovered a huge cache of arms during two separate raids in Kech district of Balochistan.

FC spokesman Khan Wasay told DawnNews that the paramilitary force recovered at least four rockets, 19 hand grenades, an improvised explosive device (IED) and a number of other weapons from a house in Mand Tehsil of district Kech.

In a separate raid, FC men also arrested two suspected militants from the area possessing anti-state literature and books containing hate material.

"The suspects were detained and are being interrogated by security officials," said the FC spokesman.

In a separate raid, Levies personnel recovered two bodies from Dasht tehsil of Mastung district. Levies sources told DawnNews that both victims had received bullet injuries.

The bodies were shifted to Mastung hospital for identification.

Balochistan is in the throes of the fifth and longest running insurgency since 1947. Triggered in 2005 by the rape of a lady doctor allegedly by an army officer in Sui, it was exacerbated by the death of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti in an Army operation in August 2006.

Security forces have intensified their actions in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan after the announcement of the National Action Plan to combat terrorism in the country.

Back in September, Balochistan Home Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani stated that provincial law enforcement agencies have arrested more than 8,000 suspected militants and killed at least 204 after the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP).

Durrani had told media that that out of the 204 terrorists killed, around 100 were high-profile terrorists.

Libya: report disclaims killing of IS leader
Libyan reports based on sources from Derna Sunday rejected the US claims that an American F-15 fighter jet killed the IS leader in Libya, Abu Nabil Al-Anbari. Sources from the Libyan Eastern city pointed out that Abu Nabil Al-Anbari, aka Wissam Najm Abd Zayd al-Zubaydi, was not killed in the strike and that the Iraqi-born IS terrorist militant was not in the town at the time of the strike. He has apparently left Libya.
We can always try again...
Sources also indicated that 10 terrorists militants had been killed in the air-strikes which hit the terrorists militants at Fataieh and at Wadi al Khabtah and Wadi Bint, two areas used by the IS fighters to store ammunitions and weapons.

Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook announced Saturday that al-Anbari has been killed and that the operation occurred prior to the attacks on the French capital, Paris.

“Nabil’s death will degrade ISIL’s ability to meet the group’s objectives in Libya, including recruiting new ISIL members, establishing bases in Libya, and planning external attacks on the United States,” Cook said.

This is the first major US air operation against an IS terrorist leader in Libya but heralds US determination to take the Libyan crisis seriously.

“While not the first US strike against terrorists in Libya, this is the first US strike against an ISIL leader in Libya and it demonstrates we will go after ISIL leaders wherever they operate,” the Pentagon spokesman said.

Anti-Tank Missiles Counter ISIS Ground Game
From the American TOW to the French MILAN to the Swedish AT-4, anti-tank weapons are now featuring prominently in the ground war against the Islamic State.

The U.S. is supplying Iraqi Security Forces with the BGM-71 tube-launched optically tracked wire-guided, or TOW, missile made by Raytheon Co. as well as the AT-4 unguided missile made by Saab for use against militants affiliated with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, also known as ISIL, according to an article by my colleague Richard Sisk.

Meanwhile, Kurdish Peshmerga forces wielded the Missile d'Infanterie Leger Antichar, or MILAN, light infantry anti-tank missile to stop ISIS counterattacks using vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices in the successful push to take the northwestern Iraqi town of Sinjar last week, Sisk wrote.

The New York Pussies Times reported last month that the American anti-tank weaponry began arriving in the region in 2013 under a covert CIA program to aid moderate Syria opposition forces, but the supply of TOW missiles picked up in recent months after Russia began military operations in Syria.

Unfortunately, during an Army conference last month in Washington, D.C., officials with the manufacturer weren't able to speak about the TOW or its potential implications on the battlefield in Iraq and Syria. Instead, they touted a new miniature laser-guided missile for Special Forces and infantry troops.

Booby trap explosion kills Iranian police officer
An explosive booby trap was blown in Qasre Qand County, Sistan and Baluchestan Province in southeastern Iran, killing a police officer.

The incident took place in the noon six kilometers out of Qasre Qand, a town in Sistan and Baluchestan, the province’s chief of police, Hamed Hatami said, ISNA news agency reported Nov. 16. He added that a police officer was killed while on patrol on the road connecting Qasre Qand to nearby town of Jakigor, but there are no other casualties.

Sistan and Baluchestan has been the scene of many terrorist actions in recent years. In a similar incident in the same province on Nov. 4, four Iranian soldiers were injured as they hit an explosive booby trap.

Iran blames neighboring Pakistan for lax security as the main factor enabling terrorists and drug smugglers venturing into the Iranian territory.

Talibunnies set haircut prices in northeastern Takhar province
The Taliban militants group has started regulating rates and prices of the food and non-food commodities as well services in northeastern Takhar province of Afghanistan, it has been reported.

According to a rate card obtained by BBC Persian, rates and prices from haircut to tailoring services and food items including meat and meal prices have been set by the group and is implemented in the restive Darqad district.

The price of the hair cut has been set at AFN 20 which is equivalent to 30 cents while the price in open market rats was AFN 100 (USD 1.50).

The group’s military committee chief Maulavi Shamsuddin Hemat has reportedly announced the rates in Darqad district.

According to the Rate Card, the prices of a kg of beef and baked fish have been set at AFN 180 (USD 2.6) and the rates of meal including Kebab have been set at AFN 100 (USD 1.50).

Tailoring services rates have also been set in the new Rate Card which includes AFN 80 for the tailoring of boys suits and AFN 130 for men suits.

The Taliban militants are still in control of Darqad district despite the Afghan security forces have launched numerous military operations to retake the control of it.

Local government officials are saying plans for a major military operation has been finalized but they can execute the operation due to bad weather in the area.

The provincial governor spokesman Sunatullah Temori has said the control of the district would retaken from the Taliban in a matter of 30 minutes once the weather condition gets better.

Cuban Migrant Wave Prompts Nicaragua to Bolster Border Force
Nicaragua dispatched its military and police to help close its southern border in a dispute with Costa Rica over the passage of Cuban migrants on their way to the U.S.

Costa Rica’s decision on Saturday to grant seven-day transit visas to 1,200 Cuban migrants who entered the country through Panama “violated national sovereignty,” Nicaragua’s government said in a statement over the weekend. Nicaraguan troops and riot police fired tear gas at people attempting to enter on Sunday in what Costa Rica called a "humanitarian crisis."

Authorities re-opened the border Monday morning to tourists and merchants. Some 450 Cuban migrants were transferred to shelters in Costa Rica while the rest remained at the border checkpoint. Nicaragua’s ambassador to the United Nations, Maria Rubiales, said Monday that Costa Rica had violated the UN Charter and international law by not consulting Nicaragua over the passage of the migrants.
Pretty sneaky of the Costa Ricans in a way -- emulates what Hungary did to provoke the East German crisis that eventually brought down the wall.
Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solis met with legislators and cabinet members today to discuss the influx of Cuban migrants crossing the country en route to the U.S. through Central America. His government said in a statement it is working with the UN refugee agency to "guarantee the protection of the lives of these persons" and that officials have sent food and bedding to the border.

The number of Cubans seeking to migrate to the U.S. has spiked since the two countries began working in December last year to normalize relations after more than five decades. Almost 28,000 Cubans entered the U.S. in the first nine months of the 2015 fiscal year, according to the Pew Research Center, citing U.S. Census data. Cuban migrants have historically used Central America as a land bridge to the U.S., where under current law they are usually offered the chance to apply for residency after a year.

Kurds repel attack near Mosul, 60 ISIS Bad Guys die
URFA – Backed by the U.S.-led coalition’s air cover, Kurdistan’s Peshmerga army forces killed dozens of militants from the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS), thwarting an attempt by the group to break into the western countryside of Mosul in northwestern Iraq, military sources reported on Monday.

“Dozens of Daesh (ISIS) terrorists have tried to infiltrate into the center of al-Kasak area (25 km west of Mosul), but the Peshmerga fighters, in coordination with the coalition warplanes, repelled their progress,” Colonel Kamiran Hawrami, an officer in the Peshmerga army of Iraqi Kurdistan, told reporters in Erbil.

Hawrami confirmed the some 60 attackers have been killed during clashes with the Peshmerga forces, pointing out “most of the militants’ corpses were captured by our forces.”

Speaking to ARA News in Erbil, media activist Rezan Hamo said that killing a large number of militants during the past few days is a sign of ISIS’s floundering in the battlefields.

“The terror group has received painful blows that paralyzed its movement in the region,” Hamo said, pointing out “a new phase of anti-ISIS battle will begin soon, especially after ISIS-led Paris attacks last Friday”, during which ate least 129 people have been killed.

Also, morale of the Kurdish forces in both Iraq and Syria is high, especially after recapturing the Yezidi district of Shingal in northern Iraq and the key town of al-Hawl in northeastern Syria from the terror group.

Over the past few days, the extremist group executed dozens of its militants who were accused of high treason and dissidence attempts from the group during fighting in the Yezidi areas in northern Iraq.

Winter A Good Time To Review Challenges Ahead For Security Forces: Abdullah
Meanwhile Talibunnies are re-packing their mags
Chief Executive of the National Unity Government (NUG) Abdullah Abdullah on Monday said at a Council of Ministers (CM) meeting that winter will be a good time to review the challenges that lie ahead for security forces in the country.

Abdullah said that lessons learned this summer will help government find solutions to future challenges.

"By using lessons from this year, summer, we must use winter as an opportunity to address challenges facing security forces," he said.

In addition, Abdullah said that the Council of Ministers has decided that retired officers will be paid monthly pensions.

"The Council of Ministers decided on Monday that monthly pensions for retired officers will be paid," said Abdullah.

Meanwhile, a member of the Wolesi Jirga's Internal Security Committee also raised the issue of challenges facing security forces and said the National Unity Government needs to urgently address the issue in order to avoid a repeat of security issues the country faced this summer.

"Besides mobilizing and equipping security forces, the government must strengthen the air force with the help of the international community because as we have seen there is a serious need for a strong air force," said Iqbal Safi, an Internal Security Committee member.

The comments follow in the wake of serious security issues that the country faced this summer, including the collapse of Kunduz city to the Taliban at the end of September.

‘Strategic’ area of Ramadi recaptured by Iraqi army: reports
[Rudaw] Iraqi forces have reclaimed a strategic northern area in the ISIS-held city of Ramadi, inflicting heavy damage and casualties on the hard boys, an Iraqi official said.

"On Monday, Iraqi counter-terrorism forces managed to reclaim the Qazani complex in northern Ramadi from the Islamic state," said Azal Fahdawi, member of the Anbar provincial council, adding that the facility was of strategic importance to the hard boys.

"The complex is strategic due to its proximity to the Anbar operation command; we can now prevent any possible assault by ISIS in the area," media reports quoted Fahdawi as saying.

In other military developments against ISIS, official sources from the Anbar police told Rudaw Sunday that Iraqi security forces with the support of tribal militias and US coalition Arclight airstrikes have taken over the Ramadi train station and killed several hard boys.

"US coalition warplanes have targeted several ISIS strongholds in the Harrayat district, which resulted in the death of several ISIS hard boys," said sources, who were not identified.

Meanwhile,

organization in northern Ramadi and several districts of southern Ramadi."

Some 10,000 Iraqi soldiers, coppers, Lions of Islam of the Shiite Hashd al-Shaabi and tribal forces have been fighting to clear Anbar province from ISIS since June. They have not managed to make any significant advances into ISIS-held areas, because several operations to take back the province have been repulsed by ISIS.

Huma: Hillary 'Often Confused'
In new State Department emails obtained by Judicial Watch, Hillary Clinton's close personal aide, Huma Abedin, is seen warning another aide that Clinton is "often confused."

The watchdog organization Judicial Watch explains in a press release:

Judicial Watch today released more than 35 pages of emails former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's top aide Huma Abedin revealing that Abedin advised Clinton aide and frequent companion Monica Hanley that it was "very important" to go over phone calls with Clinton because the former Secretary of State was "often confused." The emails, from Abedin's "Huma@clintonemail.com" address, also reveal repeated security breaches, with the Secretary's schedule and movements being sent and received through Abedin's non-governmental and unsecured Clinton server account. The emails document requests for special State Department treatment for a Clinton Foundation associate and Abedin's mother, a controversial Islamist leader.

The Abedin email material contains a January 26, 2013, email exchange with Clinton aide Monica Hanley regarding Clinton's schedule in which Abedin says Clinton is "often confused:"

Obama rules out US troops on ground to fight Daesh
Champ at his petulant worst...
President Barack Obama ruled out a shift in strategy in the fight against Daesh on Monday despite the deadly attacks in Paris, saying putting more US troops on the ground as sought by his political critics "would be a mistake."

Speaking after a G20 summit in Turkey, Obama described the attacks in France that killed 129 people as "a terrible and sickening setback" and vowed to redouble efforts to destroy Daesh, even as the group threatened to strike Washington.

Mindful of the difficulties that the United States had in controlling Iraq after its invasion in 2003, Obama is very reluctant to commit American ground forces to Middle East conflict zones.

"We are going to continue the strategy that has the best chance of working," he told a news conference, adding that there would be "an intensification" of the effort against Daesh.

Obama pushed back against Republicans and said some were only recommending what the administration had already done against Daesh while others seemed to think if he were "just more bellicose ... that would make a difference."

"This is not a traditional military opponent. We can retake territory and as long as we keep our troops there we can hold it. But that does not solve the underlying problem of eliminating the dynamics that are producing these kinds of violent, extremist groups," Obama said.

A majority of Americans want the United States to intensify its assault on Daesh following the Paris attacks, but most remain opposed to sending troops to Iraq or Syria, where the militant group is based, a Reuters/Ipsos poll found.

Obama told reporters that US intelligence agencies had been concerned about a potential attack on the West by Daesh for more than a year, but he said none of the warnings they had received were specific enough to have prevented Friday's attacks in Paris. Even so, the United States is streamlining the process by which it shares intelligence and operational military information with France.

Obama criticised as "shameful" the idea that Christian refugees should be given preference by the United States in decisions over admitting people fleeing violence in Syria.
I think that makes his own biases very clear...

In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.

Witnesses say teenager gunned down by Hashd al-Shaabi in Khurmatu
[Rudaw] A 14-year-old boy was reportedly killed Sunday following continued festivities between Kurdish Peshmerga forces and Shiite Hashd al-Shaabi faceless myrmidons in the town of Khurmatu in Diyala province 80 kilometers (50 miles) south of Kirkuk.

According to witnesses who spoke to Rudaw inside Khurmatu, "the young boy was killed by a Hashd al-Shaabi sniper."

Negotiations to end the violence in the disputed territory are underway between Kurdish and Shiite factions, but Shiite militias continue arresting civilians, according to the town's Kurdish administration.

Many shops are closed and districts are empty, according to security sources inside Khurmatu. During the last four days at least seven Kurdish non-combatants were killed, some 20 injured and seven others tossed in the slammer

by the Shiite militia.

"Sixty-nine Kurdish people were taken captive by the Hashd al-Shaabi, 59 of them are rescued so far and 10 are still left," Khurmatu Mayor Shalal Abdul told Rudaw on Sunday.

A Kurdish official told Rudaw Sunday that the Hashd al-Shaabi had arrived in the town of Saadia with heavy weapons and intended to enter by force the Kurdish-controlled town of Jalawla.

Jalawla and Saadia, together with Khurmatu, are located in Diyala province and have been heavily disputed areas between Kurdish and pro-central government Shiite forces even as both factions are fighting the Islamic State

Sofia ordered all passports and vehicles crossing into its territory to be checked after Friday's tragedy, in which at least 129 people were killed in a series of coordinated attacks in the French capital.

The measures led to huge queues at the busy Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint, with truck drivers waiting for hours to exit Bulgaria while police scanned their cargo.

"The queue this morning is about 10 kilometres (six miles) long despite our efforts to conduct the checks as quickly as possible," a border police official at the checkpoint told AFP by phone.

group (ISIS), including some that are part of the G20.
What odds one of the quietly accused is our own US of A?
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the G20 summit in the Turkish tourist city of Antalya, Putin said he had provided proof of his claims to leaders at the meeting.

"I provided examples based on our data on the financing of different Islamic State units by private individuals. This money, as we have established, comes from 40 countries and, there are some of the G20 members among them," he said.

Putin warned world leaders that the illegal oil trade with ISIS should be halted.

"I have shown our colleagues photos taken from space and from aircraft which clearly demonstrate the scale of the illegal trade in oil and petroleum products," Putin added.

"The motorcade of refueling vehicles stretched for dozens of kilometers, so that from a height of 4,000 to 5,000 meters they stretch beyond the horizon," he disclosed.
Heading toward Turkey, are they?
Putin ruled out competition among countries over which was seen to be doing more or less against ISIS. "A united international effort is needed against the terrorist group," he urged.
A statesmanlike approach...
Putin explained that Russia is helping the Syrian opposition in its fight against ISIS.

"Some armed opposition groups consider it possible to begin active operations against IS with Russia's support. And we are ready to provide such support from the air. If it happens it could become a good basis for the subsequent work on a political settlement," he said.
"Let's you and him fight. We'll help."
He urged that other countries, including the United States and Mideast nations, should get behind the effort.

We really need support from the US, European nations, Soddy Arabia

The two-day summit in Antalya brought leaders of the world's most powerful countries to meet on the recent world issues, especially to agree on a plan to defeat ISIS in retaliation for last week's deadly Gay Paree attacks.

Arabia
Coalition, army launch offensive to seize Taiz
Arab coalition forces backed by the national Yemeni army and resistance fighters on Monday launched the long-awaited offensive to seize Taiz and end the siege by the Iranian-backed coup insurgents, a Yemeni general said.

Heavy fighting erupted on all fronts in the southwestern Taiz governorate on Monday as the army and resistance attacked Houthi positions while coalition warplanes intensified strikes against rebel positions in the area.

“A military operation was launched today in cooperation with the Arab coalition to take full control of Taiz and end the siege by the Houthis and their allies,” said Major General Ahmed Al Yafei, commander of the 4th Military Region in Yemen.

“This operation is intended mainly to break the siege on Taiz and liberate the entire governorate to pave the way to advance towards Sanaa.”

Quoted by Sky News Arab TV channel, he said the operation was launched on three fronts and it involved national army units and resistance fighters backed by coalition jets, which the channel said were launching ‘intensive’ raids on rebel targets.

Yemen’s press quoted army spokesman Brigadier Samir Al Haj as saying the ‘battle for the liberation of Taiz’ started on Monday but added he did not know when it would end.

“The operation may take time…the battle today was generally in favour of the army and the resistance…what is happening on the ground is so far good and we believe that the coalition’s role in this battle is crucial,” he said.

He said the Saudi-dominated coalition is backing the army and resistance with air raids and with scores of armoured vehicles sent to the army over the past weeks.

13 Kurdish rebels killed in new southeast Turkey air strikes: Army
[AlAhram] Turkish warplanes carried out a new wave of air strikes against Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) bully boyz in the southeast, killing 13 rebels overnight, the army said Monday.

"Thirteen forces of Evil have been neutralised," in the remote Hakkari province, on the border with Iraq, the general staff said in a statement on its website.

Meanwhile in Istanbul, police detained at least 13 suspected PKK members on Monday after receiving intelligence that they were planning to attack shops and government buildings in the city with Molotov cocktails, Dogan news agency said.

Ankara has used air power and ground forces in a self-declared "anti-terror" operation to try to cripple the PKK in its strongholds in southeastern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

and northern Iraq since a two-year ceasefire broke down in July.

The group has hit back, killing more than 150 Turkish police and soldiers in a cycle of violence that shows no sign of ending.
Hurriyet adds:
Thirteen members of the separatist terrorist organization were neutralized in the air operations conducted in Cukurca," the General Staff said in a written statement on Nov. 16, referring to the PKK as the "separatist terrorist organization." Cukurca is a district in the southeastern province of Hakkari.

A number of explosives and documents related to the outlawed organization had been seized in an operation conducted in the Beytussebap district of the southeastern province of Sirnak, added the statement.

Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Count Guido had escaped from his bonds and overwhelmed his guard using the bludgeon the faithful Filomena had smuggled to him in the loaf of bread...
a RPG-7 rocket-propelled grenade, a shotgun and a Kalashnikov clip were seized in operations conducted in the Ercis district of the eastern province of Van.

Clashes between security forces and Lions of Islam from outlawed organizations were reported to be still ongoing.

In Sirnak's Idil district, a military operation against the outlawed Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Movement (YDG-H), the youth branch of the PKK, was reported to be ongoing, with intense festivities between security forces and myrmidons.

Military personnel began the anti-terror operation with the escort of additional armored vehicles, weapons and ammunition in Idil's Yeni Mahalle neighborhood at around 5 a.m. on Nov. 16 to fill in trenches dug by hard boys.

In the southeastern province of Mardin, meanwhile, the curfew in the Nusaybin district, which was imposed on Nov. 13 to prevent civilian casualties during the military operation against hard boys, continued for a fourth day.

on Monday, killing two big shots, a Kurdish official told Rudaw.

He also reported that ISIS had executed 45 people in Mosul on charges of spying for the Iraqi government.

"A blast went off inside the Mosul governorate building in Mosul," said Saeed Mamuzini, an exiled Kurdistan Democratic Party official in Mosul.

He said it was not immediately clear whether it was a suicide kaboom inside the building or a bombing by the US-led coalition. "No casualty figure has been released yet," he added.

According to Mamuzini, another blast targeted an ISIS shelter in the township of Baaj in western Mosul on Monday, killing nine holy warriors, including two emirs, or governors, identified as Abu Aiman and Abu Hadi.

"ISIS executed 45 people on Monday in Mosul on the charge of spying for the Iraqi government through the Internet and mobile phones," Mamuzini claimed.

He said the people of Mosul are happy with Friday's recapture of Shingal by the Peshmerga and that "there are slogans on walls and streets expressing their happiness for the liberation of Shingal."

New mass grave containing 50 Yezidi men discovered in Shingal
[Rudaw] Two mass graves in Shingal have reportedly been discovered since Saturday, with one found Saturday containing 80 Yezidi women and the other from Sunday containing the remains of 50 Yezidi men, Rudaw has learned.

"Fifty bodies, all men, are in the mass graves," a Peshmerga eyewitness told Rudaw Sunday.

A Rudaw news hound, speaking live on the scene, said "the mass graves are located on the Grozir road, the last Peshmerga-ISIS point."

"The bodies are buried in eight separate graves close to each other," said the news hound.

A Peshmerga soldier told Rudaw that "the corpses of my uncle and a few cousins are contained in these graves."

"Killing these innocent people is one of the crimes ISIS perpetrated against the Yezidi Kurds," Qasim Simo, head of Shingal security, told Rudaw.

Saturday's mass grave was found only meters away from the Shingal Technical Institute.

Video footage of the mass grave filmed by a Rudaw cameraman shows women's clothes, long hair and other outfits unique to the Yezidi community.

According to Simo, ISIS Death Eaters buried the bodies of the Yezidi women in what used to be the technical institute's fish pond.

He added Kurdish forces had prior information about several mass graves in the town and the one discovered Saturday is believed to be one of the largest.

occupation of Shingal have been received by Peshmerga forces in the newly liberated city, but a Peshmerga official has cautioned that Kurdish forces cannot be sure of the loyalties of these families, and that some may have pro-ISIS sympathies.

A Peshmerga officer who was among those who received the families told Rudaw they had fled the Qabwsi compound in Shingal, but some might be "enemies of Kurds and linked with the terrorist organization."

He added those who are suspected of having links with ISIS will be questioned by Kurdish security elements.

A man who was among the families told Rudaw that life at the hands of ISIS was like being in "prison" and no one was allowed to go outside.

"After the Shingal liberation we managed to escape because we were only 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) away from the borders that are managed by Peshmerga forces in Shingal," he continued. "Kurdish Peshmerga fighters received us and helped us."

On Thursday, Peshmerga forces launched a dawn assault to liberate the town of Shingal from ISIS.

ISIS attacked the predominantly Kurdish Yezidi town of Shingal in August 2014, triggering a grim humanitarian crisis as thousands of locals fled to the safety of nearby Mount Shingal where they were trapped for weeks.

On Friday, vowing that "no other flag will rise in [Shingal]," Kurdistan region President Masoud Barzani declared the town liberated from ISIS, and congratulated Yezidi Kurds on the victory.

Peshmerga: US coalition conducts 18 airstrikes on ISIS
[Rudaw] The US-led anti-ISIS coalition carried out a wave of air raids on ISIS military bases in Western Dijla, killing at least three members of the Lion of Islam organization, a statement by the Zeravani Peshmerga command announced on Sunday.

"On Sunday around 6 pm the coalition targeted an ISIS vehicle in Tashe village in western Dijla, which led to the destruction of the vehicle and the death of three ISIS members," the statement said. It added the Arclight airstrikes were based on Peshmerga intelligence provided to the coalition.

The western Dijla front is located west of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
in Nineveh province, where Peshmerga and coalition warplanes have been targeting ISIS movements and positions. The attacks are part of plans to weaken the turbans ahead of an anticipated massive assault to free Mosul, which ISIS seized in June last year.

As Peshmerga forces entered the town of Shingal on Friday, Kurdistan region Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani congratulated the Yezidi people as well as the Peshmerga and coalition forces for the town's liberation from ISIS, hailing it as an important achievement for Kurdistan and the civilized world.

Barzani also thanked the United States, adding "I express my utmost appreciation for the government and the people of the United States for their vital support to the Peshmerga during the Shingal liberation operation."
Goodness -- thanking instead of demanding? How refreshing!

...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
holy warrior group, the interior ministry announced Monday.

It said the women had confessed to "activities within the media wing" of Jund al-Khilafa, which claimed two attacks this year in Tunis and the seaside resort of Sousse that killed 60 people, all but one of them foreign tourists.

They had confessed to having "incited terrorism through their posts (on the Internet) and of having expressed joy at the terrorist attacks in our country", the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry, contacted by AFP, gave no details about the suspects.

Apart from attacks at home, thousands of young Tunisians have travelled to Iraq, Syria and Libya to fight alongside Islamic murderous Moslems, according to the authorities in the North African country.

Egypt arrests 16 members of banned Muslim Brotherhood, seizes MB properties
[AlAhram] The interior ministry released a statement on Monday saying that a number of the arrests made were part of a "preemptive security campaign"
Seems like old times...
Egypt's interior ministry placed in durance vile
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
16 members of the outlawed Moslem Brüderbund on Monday, a statement by the ministry read.

"In a preemptive security campaign, the interior ministry has arrested nine middle ranking members of the terrorist Moslem Brüderbund group," the statement read.

Seven more members who have been targeting security forces and personnel from the now-banned group have also been arrested, the statement added.

None of those arrested were named in the statement.

Since the July 2013 overthrow of Islamist president and Brotherhood member Mohammed Morsi, hundreds of the group's supporters have been killed and thousands put in jail.

The Brotherhood was designated a terrorist organization by the Egyptian government in November 2013.

Egypt seizes several Freedom and Justice Party offices

[AlAhram] A hospital, a school and two foreign exchange companies affiliated with the Moslem Brüderbund have also been seized

A number of Cairo offices affiliated with the Freedom and Justice Party, the political arm of the Moslem Brüderbund, have been seized by the Egyptian government, a committee tasked with appraising and freezing the funds of the Brotherhood said in an official statement on Tuesday. The committee also announced that it seized a hospital, a school and two foreign exchange companies linked to the group.

The committee has thus far frozen the funds and taken control of over 1,000 NGOs and nearly 100 schools allegedly affiliated with the Brotherhood. The assets of over 700 of the group's leaders have also been seized.

The Freedom and Justice Party was disbanded by a court ruling in 2014, while the Brotherhood itself was designated a terrorist group in 2013.

Terror Networks
ISIS Help Desk for Terrorists
Hat tip To Grunter, with thanks.
[NBCNews] NBC News has learned that ISIS is using a web-savvy new tactic to expand its global operational footprint -- a 24-hour Jihadi Help Desk to help its foot soldiers spread its message worldwide, recruit followers and launch more attacks on foreign soil.

Counterterrorism analysts affiliated with the U.S. Army tell NBC News that the ISIS help desk, manned by a half-dozen senior operatives around the clock, was established with the express purpose of helping would-be jihadists use encryption and other secure communications in order to evade detection by law enforcement and intelligence authorities.

The relatively new development -- which law enforcement and intel officials say has ramped up over the past year -- is alarming because it allows potentially thousands of ISIS followers to move about and plan operations without any hint of activity showing up in their massive collection of signals intelligence.

Authorities are now homing in on the terror group's growing cyber capabilities after attacks in Gay Paree, Egypt and elsewhere for which ISIS has claimed credit.

Europe
Belgium charges two with terrorism over Paris attacks: Prosecutor
[AlAhram] Belgian authorities have charged two people who were tossed in the clink
Please don't kill me!
after the Gay Paree attacks with involvement in terrorism, prosecutors said Monday.

The pair were charged "with a terrorist act and participation in the activities of a terrorist group", while five others detained at the weekend were freed without charge, the prosecutor's office said in a statement.

It did not give the names of the people who were charged.

One of those released was Mohammed Abdeslam -- whose brother Brahim took part in the attacks and whose other brother Salah is being hunted by police.

The prosecutors confirmed that a major police raid in Brussels on Monday aimed at arresting Salah Abdeslam had ended without anyone being detained.

Paris Attacks: More than 10,000 on French list of potential terror suspects
[AlAhram] La Belle France has listed more than 10,000 people suspected of being radicalised or potential security threats, including homegrown assailant Omar Ismail Mostefai who killed scores of people at Gay Paree's Bataclan music on Friday.
No doubt it is much the same in the US and elsewhere. No wonder they're losing track of people.
According to police sources, the so-called "fiche S" ("S file" in French) is updated daily to include individuals suspected of links to a terrorist movement or group.

The "S" stands for the suspects' potential to endanger the "security of the state".

The list has 15 categories spanning everyone from football hooligans to battle-hardened jihadists returning from Iraq and Syria.

The suspects come into the spotlight if they are tossed in the slammer
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
or subject to a check after which they are immediately on the radar of the intelligence services.

"There are more than 10,000 people who are on the fiche S list," Prime Minister Manuel Valls said over the weekend.

Some of them are already known to security forces or sentenced for acts of terror, while the others are suspected of either having been radicalised or susceptible to it.

More and more cases of radicalised assailants have surfaced recently including the Al-Qaeda-linked gunman Mohammed Merah who killed seven people in and around the southern city of Toulouse
...lies on the banks of the River Garonne, half-way between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The Toulouse metropolitan area is the fourth-largest in La Belle France...
in 2012.

The same was true of the attackers who targeted the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo
...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe...
and a Jewish supermarket in February this year, killing 17 people.

And Yassin Salhi, who killed and decapitated his employer in Isere in southeastern La Belle France in June had been on the S list for two years but had never come to the attention of the police.

This can happen because the suspects are not automatically subject to surveillance.

"It's more or less an indicator, like a thermometer that one has to monitor and feed all the time for it to be efficient," a police officer said.

There is cross-border cooperation and intelligence-sharing on drawing up suspects to be added to the list.

Moroccan Ayoub El Khazzani who in August attacked passengers on a train travelling from Amsterdam to Gay Paree before being overpowered by three Americans, was on the list, thanks to warnings from Spanish and Belgian authorities who had alerted the French. Khazzani had lived both in Spain and Belgium.

however i agree it is unlikely until our rulers realise we are actually in an existential ideological war not a crime and punishment drama.
