Michael Avenatti Rules Out Running For President In 2020
Did Joe Biden scare him out of the water?
[Zero Hedge] - Since sending out his first trial balloon announcing his intention to seek the 2020 Democratic nomination for president back in October, a lot has changed in the life of "creepy porn lawyer" Michael Avenatti.

And most of that change has been bad.

First, he was accused by his 24-year-old actress girlfriend of domestic abuse and was arrested by the LAPD. Then his firm was evicted from its office. And his star client, Stormy Daniels, distanced herself from him during an interview, where she also said he launched a 'legal defense fund' in her name without her permission.

And though the (formerly) wealthy California lawyer has never demonstrated a pragmatic view of reality, it seems he is preemptively giving up on his dream of challenging President Trump for the presidency in 2020. In a statement released Tuesday, Avenatti said that "after consulting with my family" he no longer intends to seek the 2020 nomination.

Arabia
Qatar to Leave OPEC to Focus on Gas
Hat tip: gCaptain.
Qatar said on Monday it was quitting OPEC from January to focus on its gas ambitions, taking a swipe at the group's de facto leader Saudi Arabia and marring efforts to show unity before this week's meeting of exporters to tackle an oil price slide.

Doha, one of OPEC's smallest oil producers but the world's biggest liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter, is embroiled in a protracted diplomatic row with Saudi Arabia and some other Arab states.

Qatar said its surprise decision was not driven by politics but in an apparent swipe at Riyadh, Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad al-Kaabi said: "We are not saying we are going to get out of the oil business but it is controlled by an organisation managed by a country." He did not name the nation. Al-Kaabi told a news conference that Doha's decision "was communicated to OPEC" but said Qatar would attend the group's meeting on Thursday and Friday in Vienna, and would abide by its commitments.

He said Doha would focus on its gas potential because it was not practical "to put efforts and resources and time in an organisation that we are a very small player in and I don't have a say in what happens."

Delegates at OPEC, which has 15 members including Qatar, sought to play down the impact. But losing a long-standing member undermines a bid to show a united front before a meeting that is expected to back a supply cut to shore up crude prices that have lost almost 30 percent since an October peak.

"They are not a big producer, but have played a big part in (OPEC's) history," one OPEC source said.

It highlights the growing dominance over policy making in the oil market of Saudi Arabia, Russia and the United States, the world's top three oil producers which together account for more than a third of global output. Riyadh and Moscow have been increasingly deciding output policies together, under pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump on OPEC to bring down prices. Benchmark Brent is trading at around $62 a barrel, down from more than $86 in October.

"It could signal a historic turning point of the organisation towards Russia, Saudi Arabia and the United States," said Algeria's former energy minister and OPEC chairman, Chakib Khelil, commenting on Qatar's move.
"UNILATERAL DECISIONS"

He said Doha's exit would have a "psychological impact" because of the row with Riyadh and could prove "an example to be followed by other members in the wake of unilateral decisions of Saudi Arabia in the recent past."

Qatar, which Al-Kaabi said had been a member of OPEC for 57 years, has oil output of just 600,000 barrels per day (bpd), compared with Saudi Arabia's 11 million bpd.

But Doha is an influential player in the global LNG market with annual production of 77 million tonnes per year, based on its huge reserves of the fuel in the Gulf.

OPEC members Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and fellow Arab states Bahrain and Egypt, have imposed a political and economic boycott on Qatar since June 2017, accusing it of supporting terrorism. Doha denies the charges and says the boycott aims to impinge on its sovereignty.

Al-Kaabi, who is heading Qatar's OPEC delegation, said the decision was part of a long-term strategy and the country's plans to develop its gas industry and increase LNG output to 110 million tonnes by 2024.

"A lot of people will politicise it," Al-Kaabi said. "I assure you this purely was a decision on what's right for Qatar long term. It's a strategy decision."

Qatar's influential former prime minister, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim al-Thani, said on Twitter that OPEC "is only used for purposes that hurt our national interests."

The exit is the latest example of Qatar charting a course away from its Gulf neighbours since the rift began last year. It comes before an annual summit of Gulf Arab states expected to grapple with the roughly 18-month standoff.

Once close partners with Saudi Arabia and the UAE on trade and security, Qatar has struck scores of new trade deals with countries further afield while investing heavily to scale up local food production and ramp up military power.

"There is a sentiment in Qatar that Saudi Arabia's dominance in the region and the region's many institutions has been counterproductive to Qatar," said Andreas Krieg, a political risk analyst at King's College London. "It is about Qatar breaking free as an independent market and state from external interference."

Oil surged about 5 percent on Monday after the United States and China agreed to a 90-day truce in their trade war, but prices remain well off October's peak.

Asked if Qatar's withdrawal would complicate OPEC's decision on output this week, a non-Gulf OPEC source said: "Not really, even if it's a regrettable and sad decision from one of our member countries."

Amrita Sen, chief oil analyst at consultancy Energy Aspects, said the move "doesn't affect OPEC's ability to influence as Qatar was a very small player."

Al-Kaabi said state oil company Qatar Petroleum planned to raise its production capability from 4.8 million barrels of oil equivalent per day to 6.5 million barrels in the next decade.

Doha also plans to build the largest ethane cracker in the Middle East.

Qatar would still look to expand its oil investments abroad and would "make a big splash in the oil and gas business", he Al-Kaabi added.

New Rule for Business: Avoid Women - or Don't Be a Jerk
[Live Mint] But I saw it in the Dallas Morning News. Looks like the first few paragraphs are identical. And in many other sites, too. Journalism!
No more dinners with female colleagues. Don’t sit next to them on flights. Book hotel rooms on different floors. Avoid one-on-one meetings.

In fact, as a wealth adviser put it, just hiring a woman these days is "an unknown risk." What if she took something he said the wrong way?

Across Wall Street, men are adopting controversial strategies for the #MeToo era and, in the process, making life even harder for women.
Unintended consequences? Or Saul Alinsky at work?
Call it the Pence Effect, if you're a never-Trumper after US Vice President Mike Pence, who has said he avoids dining alone with any woman other than his wife. In finance, the overarching impact can be, in essence, gender segregation.

Interviews with more than 30 senior executives suggest many are spooked by #MeToo and struggling to cope. "It’s creating a sense of walking on eggshells," said a former managing director at Morgan Stanley.

Now, more than a year into the #MeToo movement ‐ with its devastating revelations of harassment and abuse in Hollywood, Silicon Valley and beyond ‐ Wall Street risks becoming more of a boy’s club, rather than less of one.

"Women are grasping for ideas on how to deal with it, because it is affecting our careers," said [the] president of the Financial Women’s Association and a senior vice president at Wells Fargo & Co. "It’s a real loss."

There’s a danger, too, for companies that fail to squash the isolating backlash and don’t take steps to have top managers be open about the issue and make it safe for everyone to discuss it, said an employment attorney.

"If men avoid working or travelling with women alone, or stop mentoring women for fear of being accused of sexual harassment," he said, "those men are going to back out of a sexual harassment complaint and right into a sex discrimination complaint."
I think this guy is looking for more client he can steer between the rock and the hard place.
On Wall Street as elsewhere, reactions to #MeToo can smack of paranoia or paranoid feminism. "Some men have voiced concerns to me that a false accusation is what they fear," said Zweig, the lawyer. "These men fear what they cannot control."

There are as many or more men who are responding in quite different ways. One, an investment adviser who manages about 100 employees, said he briefly reconsidered having one-on-one meetings with junior women. He thought about leaving his office door open, or inviting a third person into the room.

Finally, he landed on the solution: "Just try not to be an a---ole."

That’s pretty much the bottom line, said [the] chief executive officer of Context Capital Partners. "It’s really not that hard."

In this charged environment, the question is how the response to me #MeToo might actually end up hurting women's progress. Given the male dominance in Wall Street's top jobs, one of the most pressing consequences for women is the loss of male mentors who can help them climb the ladder.
Suggesting the old system was set up to help find cooperative 'rising stars'?
"There aren't enough women in senior positions to bring along the next generation all by themselves," said Lisa Kaufman, chief executive officer of LaSalle Securities. "Advancement typically requires that someone at a senior level knows your work, gives you opportunities and is willing to champion you within the firm. It's hard for a relationship like that to develop if the senior person is unwilling to spend one-on-one time with a more junior person."
My favorite boss mentored me, coached me, gave me opportunities, but with very little "one-on-one time". Perhaps somebody is hyperventilating here.
Men have to step up, she said, and "not let fear be a barrier."
You're not paranoid if half the world thinks it's your fault because you're male.
No more than a quarter. At least half of women aren’t that silly, but unfortunately there’s no way to tell until afterward who is which.

And who gets to define what being an asshole is?

And how does this eliminate the risk of false accusations?

"Women are grasping for ideas on how to deal with it, because it is affecting our careers," said [the] president of the Financial Women’s Association and a senior vice president at Wells Fargo & Co. "It’s a real loss."

#11  Welcome to feminism. Cortez, Maxene,Pelosi, and Hillary to name a few. Flashing red lights to avoid. No wonder men have dropped out of the dating game. No wonder women have turned to drink and drugs. I spoke to a former Church pastor and marriage councilor. The women of his congregation wanted their own bible study. The result as in the outside world the women consult and advise on how to get the most out of a marriage to a man or a job. This women's bible study group resulted in all getting divorces.

Stocks Cheer U.S.- China Trade Deal, Market Poised For Strong End Of Year Rally
[ZACKS] Stocks soared on Monday after President Trump and President Xi came to a trade truce over the weekend which will benefit both countries.

As expected, stocks cheered the deal made at dinner on Saturday where they agreed there would be no new tariffs placed on either country for the next 90 days (that includes freezing the planned tariff increase from 10% to 25% on $200 billion of Chinese goods). In return, China has agreed to purchase a substantial amount of U.S. products, including agricultural goods.

Within those 90 days, both countries will continue their talks to work out the more difficult trade issues that have precluded an agreement prior to this.

If no agreement is reached within that time frame, the U.S. has threatened to raise those 10% tariffs to 25% as originally planned, and has threatened additional tariffs on another $267 billion worth of Chinese goods. China, of course, would retaliate as they have in the past.

10 Reasons It's Past Time To Fire Rod Rosenstein
[TheFederalist] On Thursday, Fox News reported that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein received prior notice of former Donald Trump private attorney Michael Cohen’s plea deal before Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker did.

This reminds me of a tradition the Army observed when there’s a change in command: The departing commanding officer is typically expected to physically leave his office and the organization to give the incoming commander space to assume command. Otherwise, the temptation for subordinates to "check in" with their old commander can seriously undermine the transition’s effectiveness.

Rosenstein seems like an affable guy who continuously demonstrates his wickedly dry humor with ironic speeches claiming fealty to the rule of law. But his mere presence in the Department of Justice is now demonstrably undermining its change in leadership. That the special counsel first checks in the deputy attorney general before the AG proves Rosenstein is still in charge.

In the complicated four-dimensional chess board of Washington DC, the results of a Senate election in Mississippi and President Trump’s trip to the G-20 summit in Argentina both affect Rosenstein’s strategic position. The recent media storm of "new" Trump-Russia collusion stories carpet-bombed the airwaves within hours of the Cohen plea deal.

Of course, this all happened hours before the president’s now-canceled meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. I’m sure that’s all a coincidence. Just like it was a coincidence that Rosenstein timed the last big Trump-Russia indictments days before the president met with Putin in the 2018 summit. Is the deputy attorney general in charge of American foreign policy?

I don’t play four-dimensional chess. But it seems to me that when a subordinate undermines the president, defies Congress, flouts the rule of law, and now bucks the chain of command, it’s time to reach onto the chess board and relocate Rosenstein’s office to McMurdo Research station in Antarctica. If I were president, Rosenstein would share a desk with Bruce Ohr in their new Antarctic empire. Allow me to offer a very incomplete list of justifications to reassign Rosenstein to the polar tundra.

1. The Wire
Recently, The New York Times published an allegation that Rosenstein, as acting attorney general, "suggested last year that he secretly record President Trump in the White House... discussed recruiting cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Mr. Trump from office for being unfit."

The article included an ambiguous denial from Rosenstein that unspecified details in the report were "inaccurate and factually correct." He added that, "Based on my personal dealings with the president, there is no basis to invoke the 25th Amendment." There is no basis, meaning the story could have been true in 2017.

The denial was transparently evasive. Donald Trump Jr. quipped, "Shocked!!! Absolutely Shocked!!! Ohhh, who are we kidding at this point? No one is shocked that these guys would do anything in their power to undermine @realdonaldtrump." The president should not be expected to cede de facto control of the DOJ to a man who is known to have plotted a coup against him.

2. A History of Mocking and Defying Congressional Oversight
It’s one thing to resist congressional oversight. It’s another thing to do it while giggling and smirking during a congressional hearing and a public speech in Washington. If any lawyer had done the same during a proceeding before an Article III judge, the judge would have been duty-bound to have sanctioned his lack of decorum. A president should not tolerate his subordinate showing such contempt for a co-equal branch of government.
Eight more reasons follow:

S&W 360PD Pistol - Review
[ARMSLIST] The very first time I held a Smith and Wesson 360pd in my hand, I knew that I wanted one. That was a few years ago at an NRA convention if I recall correctly. The Scandium frame and the Titanium cylinder come together to create something very special. The barrel, hammer, trigger, cylinder release, and a few internal parts are about the only iron you will find on this gun.

It all adds up to a serious case of cognitive dissonance. It is very hard to pick up an empty 360PD and think of it chambering .357 rounds. I've held toy guns that are heavier.

#1  S&W manufactures an excellent line of what I call wheel gun 'road pistols.' All carry a lifetime warranty.

Remember to visit the range a minimum of one or two times per year to maintain proficiency and confidence in your weapon. Target placement at 5-7 meters is ideal. Most defensive engagements take place at 21 feet or less. Unless you are an amputee, I strongly recommend the two handed grip as illustrated in the video.

Jerome Corsi says Mueller probe is led by partisans
[The Hill] Conservative author and conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi said in an interview that aired Friday on "Rising" that special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Russian election interference was politically motivated.

"Absolutely," Corsi told Hill.TV's Buck Sexton and Jamal Simmons when asked whether he thought Mueller, a former FBI director and Republican nominated to lead the Bureau by former President George W. Bush, was a political partisan.

"My conclusion is the Department of Justice and Mueller's investigation are being run not only by partisan politicians but by criminals," Corsi said.

The criticisms echo remarks by President Trump, who frequently derides the special counsel probe as being a "partisan witch hunt" run by "Angry Democrats" on Twitter. A number of people working for the special counsel investigation have given political donations to Democrats.

Mueller's probe is investigating Corsi and Roger Stone's links to WikiLeaks' release of emails belonging to Hillary Clinton's former campaign chairman, John Podesta, during the 2016 campaign as part of an investigation into whether there was collusion between Trump's campaign and Moscow to interfere in the election.

[Stephen F. Cohen at The Nation] War With Russia?, like the biography of a living person, is a book without an end. The title is a warning‐akin to what the late Gore Vidal termed "a journalistic alert-system"‐not a prediction. Hence the question mark. I cannot foresee the future. The book’s overarching theme is informed by past and current facts, not by any political agenda, ideological commitment, or magical prescience.

To restate that theme: The new US-Russian Cold War is more dangerous than was its 40-year predecessor that the world survived. The chances are even greater that this one could result, inadvertently or intentionally, in actual war between the two nuclear superpowers. Herein lies another ominous indication. During the preceding Cold War, the possibility of nuclear catastrophe was in the forefront of American mainstream political and media discussion, and of policy-making. During the new one, it rarely seems to be even a concern.

In the latter months of 2018, the facts and the mounting crises they document grow worse, especially in the US political-media establishment, where, as I have argued, the new Cold War originated and has been repeatedly escalated. Consider a few examples, some of them not unlike political and media developments during the run-up to the US war in Iraq or, historians have told us, how the great powers "sleepwalked" into World War I:

§ Russiagate’s core allegations‐US-Russian collusion, treason‐all remain unproven. Yet they have become a central part of the new Cold War. If nothing else, they severely constrain President Donald Trump’s capacity to conduct crisis negotiations with Moscow while they further vilify Russian President Vladimir Putin for having, it is widely asserted, personally ordered "an attack on America" during the 2016 presidential campaign. Some Hollywood liberals had earlier omitted the question mark, declaring, "We are at war." In October 2018, the would-be titular head of the Democratic Party, Hillary Clinton, added her voice to this reckless allegation, flatly stating that the United States was "attacked by a foreign power" and equating it with "the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks."

Ukraine sends troops to Russian border amid fears of an 'invasion'
[Telegraph] Ukraine has begun calling up reservists and deploying troops to the border to counter what it says is the growing threat of a Russian invasion.

President Petro Poroshenko, who last week declared martial law in 10 regions, announced the military moves on Monday in response to a "sharp increase in Russian forces along our borders and in occupied Crimea".

The day before, Mr Poroshenko claimed that Russia was trying to capture the major port city of Mariupol and create a land corridor to Crimea.

Vladimir Putin's spokesman yesterday called this statement "absolutely absurd" and accused Ukraine's leader of "provoking tensions" before the presidential election there in March.

The escalation stems from when Russian forces fired upon and seized three Ukrainian naval ships attempting to enter the Azov Sea through the Kerch Strait on November 25.

Ukraine-Russia clash: Nato's dilemma in the Black Sea
[BBC] Does crisis beckon in the Black Sea? Could Russia and Nato even come to blows?

That - at least for now - is probably unlikely. But the recent seizure of two Ukrainian gunboats and a tug in the approaches to the Kerch Strait, by vessels of the Russian Border Guard, has inevitably brought security in the Black Sea to the forefront of Nato's agenda at their meeting in Brussels on Tuesday.

The Black Sea has long had strategic significance.

It was, after all, the theatre for a major conflict between the Western powers France and Great Britain and Imperial Russia in the mid-19th Century. During the Cold War, it was the Soviet Union's shortest route to Iran and the Middle East. Turkey - a Nato ally - stood astride the Black Sea's southern exit to the Mediterranean, facing Russia across the Black Sea to its the north.

For the Russians this was always seen as their "back yard". And the end of the Cold War and the break-up of the Soviet Union greatly complicated relationships.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Michelle Obama: 'I still have imposter syndrome'
[BBC] Michelle Obama has said she still feels "imposter syndrome", adding that "it never goes away", during a frank talk in London.

The former US First Lady was speaking at the Royal Festival Hall for a sold-out event that tens of thousands of people had tried to get tickets for.

She also recalled how the Queen had dismissed royal protocol as "rubbish" when the Obamas visited Windsor Castle.

She said she was panicking about how to act but the Queen said: "Just get in".

On Monday evening, Mrs Obama spoke to author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie at the Southbank Centre to promote her new autobiography Becoming.

More than 40,000 people had reportedly tried to get tickets online when the event went on sale.

And last month, her memoir broke sales records to become the best-selling book released this year, just 15 days after being published.

Afghanistan
Over 61% Of Afghans Pessimistic About Future: Survey
[TOLO] The Asia Foundation’s annual survey of the Afghan people shows that more than 60 percent of Afghans remain pessimistic about their country’s future.

According to the Asia Foundation, a total of 15,012 face-to-face interviews were conducted with Afghan respondents 18 years of age and older, 50.3% male and 49.7% female, and comprising 80.6% rural and 19.4% urban respondents.

The interviews were conducted across the country from July 6 to 27, 2018, a month following the three-day, Eid-ul-Fitr ceasefire agreement between the government and the Taliban.

The survey shows that this year, the proportion of Afghans who say the country is moving in the right direction is the same as last year (32.8%).

Similarly, there is little difference between the number of Afghans this year who say the country is moving in the wrong direction (61.3%) and last year (61.2%), the survey says.

A small proportion of respondents say they do not know whether the country is moving in the right or the wrong direction, (5.6%, compared to 5.3% in 2017), the survey indicates.

Insecurity is the most frequently cited reason for pessimism about the country’s direction, cited slightly more often this year than last (72.5% vs. 69.5%), followed by concern about the economy (37.6%), which includes the 23.7% of respondents who explicitly refer to unemployment as a reason for their pessimism, the survey says.

Industry Talk: Taliban Attack G4S Compound In Kabul
[Matt at Feral Jundi] Man, for a first post coming back home, this one is a tough one to write about. My heart goes out to the friends and family of those that were killed, and this is a difficult time for the G4S family. This is the second attack on G4S folks (March of this year) and this kind of thing can definitely impact the morale of folks on the ground and especially during the holidays.

With that said, I wanted to write about this and give folks a chance to correct the record or add to the story. There is no AAR on this incident and everything I have on it is from open source or from folks on Facebook that have brought forth information. So with any of this stuff I have posted, please feel free to comment below to correct the record.

My other intent is for other security folks to use this for research and learn from it. The value of incidents like this is that other folks that are performing similar type duties elsewhere in the world, can learn from what happened in incidents like this.

The attack happened November 27, 2018 at 0630 PM. This is from Tolo. For timing and cause, the Taliban said it was in retaliation for an air strike that killed some civilians. It was also timed right after a conference in Geneva where President Ghani spoke of appointing a team to seek a peace deal which would take five years to implement. There have been numerous attacks recently, and in my view, they are a sign that the Taliban wants leverage in the ongoing peace talks.

The coalition have also dropped a record number of ordinance throughout the country in an effort to help Afghan forces stop the Taliban. The Taliban have definitely taken more territory in 2018 and hold a pretty good chunk of Afghanistan.

The method of attack was pretty simple. The suicide bomber drove a water tanker packed with explosives to the gate, outside of the G4S compound in Pul-e-Charkhil, in Kabul’s Police District 9 area. They also call this the Anjuman base and it has other stuff nearby like the Green Village. Once the bomb was detonated and the front gate guards manning the entry control point were taken out, an assault force stormed the compound. The blast was big, and TOLO showed the damage in this video.

Science & Technology
If You Do This, the NSA Will Spy on You
[Defense One] Worried about the NSA monitoring you? If you take certain steps to mask your identity online, such as using the encryption service TOR, or even investigating an alternative to the buggy Windows operating system, you’re all but asking for "deep" monitoring by the NSA.

TOR is an encryption network developed by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in the 1990s. The military’s hope was to enable government workers to search the web without exposing their locations and identities. The system today is widely available, runs on open source code and is popular among privacy advocates as a more secure alternative to open Internet surfing, particularly in countries with repressive regimes. It works by encrypting the user’s address and routing the traffic through servers that are located around the world (so-called "onion routing.") How does the NSA access it? Through a computer system called XKeyscore, one of the various agency surveillance tools that NSA leaker Edward Snowden disclosed last summer.

According to a recent report from the German media outlet Tagesschau, a group of TOR affiliates working with Tagesschau looked into the source code for XKeyscore. They found that nine servers running TOR, including one at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, were under constant NSA surveillance. The code also revealed some of the behaviors that users could undertake to immediately be tagged or "fingerprinted" for so-called deep packet inspection, an investigation into the content of data packages you send across the Internet, such as emails, web searches and browsing history.

If you are located outside of the U.S., Canada, the U.K. or one of the so-called Five Eyes countries partnering with the NSA in its surveillance efforts, then visiting the TOR website triggers an automatic fingerprinting. In other words, simply investigating privacy-enhancing methods from outside of the United States is an act worthy of scrutiny and surveillance according to rules that make XKeyscore run. Another infraction: hating Windows.

If you visit the forum page for the popular Linux Journal, dedicated to the open-source operating system Linux, you could be fingerprinted regardless of where you live because the XKeystore source code designates the Linux Journal as an "extremist forum." Searching for the Tails, operating system, another Windows alternative popular among human rights watchers, will also land you on the deep-packet inspectee list.

Science fiction author Cory Doctorow, an editor at the popular technology blog Boing Boing, was quick to take exception to the findings, questioning not only the propriety of the tactics revealed in the researchers’ report but also their utility.

Gaza officials: Four hurt by IDF fire in border protest

Hamas court sentences 6 to death for ‘collaborating’ with Israel
[IsraelTimes] One of the condemned is an Israeli resident sentenced in absentia; 5 others are residents of Gazoo

A Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw,-run military court has sentenced five Paleostinians and an Israeli resident to death for "collaborating" with Israel, the Hamas-controlled Interior Ministry announced on Monday in a memo on its official website.

Five were sentenced to death by hanging and one by firing squad, the ministry said. The Israeli resident, identified by her first name, Amal, was sentenced in absentia, it added.

One of the five Paleostinians sentenced to death, identified by his first name, Ali, was first connected to the Israel intelligence services in 2000 and had since provided it with information on operatives in Gazoo, their residences and their means of transportation, the ministry claimed.

Ali, 48, provided Israel with information on the area where Mazen Fuqha, a senior Hamas official who was mysteriously assassinated in Gazoo in March 2017, lived, it said.

The court also sentenced eight Paleostinians to various degrees of hard labor for "collaborating" with Israel, according to the ministry.

The memo did not say when the Hamas authorities in Gazoo plan to carry out the execution sentences.

Hamas authorities have held public executions in the past of those it accuses of collaborating with Israel.

Hamas, a terror group which seeks to destroy Israel, has controlled Gazoo since 2007, when it ousted the Fatah-dominated Paleostinian Authority from the territory.

Iyad al-Bozm, the front man of the Hamas-run Interior Ministry, vowed that Paleostinians who collaborate with Israel would not escape punishment.

"The collaborators should realize that the occupation will not be able to protect them and that the hand of justice will reach them," Bozm said in a statement posted on the ministry’s website on Monday.

Since 2007, Hamas authorities in Gazoo have carried out 25 execution sentences; in the same period of time, the PA has not enforced any death sentences, according to B’Tselem, an Israeli human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
group.

A front man for the PA government did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The PA has long criticized Hamas authorities for carrying out executions without the approval of PA President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
According to Paleostinian law, the PA president must approve the enforcement of any execution sentencing. Since 2006, Abbas has not given his official blessing for the implementation of a single death sentence.

International rights groups have also rebuked Hamas for carrying out death sentences.

After three Gazooks were executed for "collaborating" with Israel in 2017, Human Rights Watch, an international human rights group, lambasted the terror group.

"The death penalty
is a barbaric practice that has no place in a modern state," Sarah Leah Whitson, executive director of the Middle East division of Human Rights Watch, said at the time.

"The abhorrent executions by Hamas authorities of three men in Gazoo deemed to be collaborators project weakness, not strength," she said. "Hamas authorities will never achieve true security or stability through firing squads or by the gallows, but rather through respect for international norms and the rule of law."

Europe
Merkel urged EU countries not to move embassies to Jerusalem
But the president of Germany was at the Hanukkah menorah candle lighting Sunday evening, demonstrating how fervently Germany supports the Jewish community.
/sorry — sarcasm
[Jpost] Nuclear accord and settlement labels caused Germany to deny Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

The founding director of the European Coalition for Israel in Brussels, Tomas Sandell, announced in a shocking video message on Thursday that German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslems ..
waged a campaign to prevent Central and Eastern European countries from moving their capitals to Jerusalem to preserve the Iran nuclear deal.

Sandell said The Jerusalem Post exclusive report in November stating that Merkel called Romanian president, Klaus Iohannis, to convince him to not relocate his country’s embassy to Jerusalem prompted him to go public.

Speaking from the European parliament, Sandell said, "what we have found out, something I heard for quite some time already, from Central and Eastern European countries, that would have an inclination to move their embassy to Jerusalem, this is the natural thing for them to do, is that they have received phone calls from Berlin, from Angela Merkel, the chancellor. Basically, this cannot happen under any circumstances."

He said, "I have spoken to many Germans these last few days in Brussels. They are not aware of this, and all of them would be shocked that all of the countries in the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
today would want to block an embassy move to Jerusalem, not only for your own country, but for other countries that have the conviction [that] this is the right thing to do, the only country to do would be Germany. This is a big shock."

He added that "this is something unprecedented. This is not the Germany we once knew. This is not the even Angela Merkel we once knew when she was elected."

Sandell said many of Merkel’s telephone calls took place to European leaders in April when "many of the nations were seriously considering moving their embassies."

Sandell said Merkel’s anti-Israel moves have to do with the Iran nuclear deal, which "has been very much supported by Germany, the German government."

He added that Merkel’s move to block the relocation of embassies was also sparked by "how Germany did not block the marking of Israeli goods from disputed territories" in 2015. He said it was anticipated that Germany would stop the penalties against Israeli products. Germany instead implemented "this counterproductive measure" to punish Israeli goods, said Sandell.

Germany and the EU singled out only Israeli goods from one territorial conflict in the world to penalize the Jewish state with a labeling system on its merchandise.

He said Merkel’s policy is "of great concern for us who support the Jewish people, support the state Israel."

He ended his video message by stating the importance of recognizing "Jerusalem as the capital of Israel."

An Israeli court on Monday ruled against a Gazook doctor who filed a compensation suit against the state over the death of three of his daughters in IDF shelling during 2009’s Operation Cast Lead in the Gazoo Strip.

The Beersheba District Court said in its decision that it was terror groups that bore responsibility for the girls’ deaths by fighting from within a civilian population and storing weapons in the building where they died.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Top official: Iran faces ‘chronic challenges’ beyond US sanctions
[IsraelTimes] Iran is facing "chronic challenges" that existed long before US sanctions were reimposed, the influential parliament speaker Ali Larijani says.

"External factors do affect our economy, but there are problems persisting from before," Larijani says at a presser. He lists a number of challenges, including "big, costly government," high interest rates that "disrupt production," cash-strapped pension funds and a water crisis.

Parliament’s research center has "repeatedly warned" of these challenges, Larijani says, but the government has yet to respond on key issues.

The US decision in May to withdraw from the 2015 nuclear deal and reimpose sanctions on Iran has added another layer of difficulty.

The International Monetary Fund says the Iranian economy will contract by 1.5 percent in 2018 and 3.6% is 2019, largely due to reduced oil sales caused by the renewed sanctions.

Larijani is an influential insider who was previously seen as deeply conservative but has lately forged a close working relationship with the faction led by President Hassan Rouhani.

America Unprepared For Arson Terrorism
[Townhall] Wildfires have devastated California and killed 88 people, with the number of casualties continuously rising. Californians lost their homes, farms, and pets. Americans throughout the nation have offered assistance and contributed financially. Our hearts broke from news of the devastation.

These California fires were not started intentionally. But what if we lived in fear that park fires would be started maliciously? What if we were threatened daily with arson terrorism?

Arson terrorism has been a daily and agonizing reality in Israel.

Israel has spent this past year under unyielding bombardment of terroristic arson. For over seven months, on a daily basis, Israeli farms, homes, schools, national parks, and wildlife sanctuaries have been burned by malicious fires, fires started as intentional acts of terrorism.

Palestinian Hamas and Islamic Jihad members and supporters, who desire to overtake Israel and "kill Jews," have been attempting to weaken the Israeli borders by overwhelming the border towns with unremitting fires. The fires are started by terrorists launching burning kites and incendiary balloons from Gaza into Israel. The fires rage and firefighters struggle to put them out.

Climate change could force the world to say goodbye to cows
[Washington Examiner] n the 1973 sci-fi classic "Soylent Green," Charlton Heston's character faces a dystopian future in which a protein made from plankton is grown in test tubes to sustain an overpopulated Earth.

A new National Academies of Sciences study from 18 top scientists suggests that a similar cultured protein will be needed in the not-too-distant future to deal with the problems of population growth and climate change.

The new Department of Energy-funded study on environmental engineering released Monday doesn't suggest that switching the global diet to a lab-made protein will lead to the horrifying climax of "Soylent Green", but it does suggest that beef will have to be made more scarce.

The report finds that livestock farming could be responsible for as much as 14.5 percent of all man-made greenhouse gas emissions, which are blamed for raising the temperature of the Earth. Cattle alone is responsible for almost two-thirds of that 14.5 percent, the study says.

Beef and dairy farming also require far more water per unit of protein produced compared to plant-based protein equivalents, the study says.

The study estimates that global meat production could grow as much as 12 percent by 2026 due to population growth and increasing demand due to rising standards of living in lower- and middle-income countries.

The environmental effects of this increase could be reduced by shifting global dietary patterns that de-emphasize animal-based protein, especially beef.

Not unlike "Soylent Green," the National Academies report says a variety of meatless protein products, including protein products grown from "animal and plant tissue cells in culture, are becoming available."

Israel Kicks Off Op to Thwart Hezbollah Attack Tunnels on Lebanese Border - IDF
[Sputnik] Israel has put its forces on the border with Lebanon on a war footing as part of the Northern Shield operation aimed at destroying tunnels of the Hezbollah group.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Twitter on Tuesday the start of an operation to 'expose and neutralise cross-border' tunnels that Hezbollah is using to attack Israel from Lebanese territory.

According to the Haaretz news outlet, the Israeli armed forces knew of Hezbollah’s plans dating back to 2006 to construct attack tunnels at points along the Israel-Lebanon frontier in order to conduct attacks against the Jewish state. An Attempt to build a tunnel was exposed in 2013, but no construction site was discovered.

German Foreign Minister Insists on Staying in Nord Stream 2 for Ukraine's Sake
[Sputnik] Germany has repeatedly defended its participation in the Russian-European gas pipeline project despite criticism coming from the US, its European allies and Ukraine. After the recent incident off the coast of Crimea, when the Russian border control confronted Ukrainian ships, some conservatives in Germany claim this stance should be revised.

Germany’s Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has spoken out against the country’s withdrawal from the venture project of Russia’s Gazprom and several European energy giants Nord Stream 2. He rebuffed criticism from lawmakers calling on the German government to drop out of the project in order to punish Moscow for seizing three Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait near Crimea late in November. Russia accused them of violating the Russian sea border and failing to react to legal demands to abandon dangerous manoeuvres.

The diplomat, representing the Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats’ coalition partner Social Democrats (SPD), argued that the pipeline would be built even if Berlin pulled out. At the same time, in the case of leaving the project, Germany would lose its leverage to influence Russia’s energy policy, including gas transit via Ukraine.

Grassley Demands Answers From Wray Over Raid Of Whistleblower On Clinton Foundation
[Daily Caller] Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley wants answers from FBI Director Christopher Wray about a Nov. 19 bureau raid on the home of a recognized whistleblower.

The whistleblower, Dennis Cain, who was once employed by an FBI contractor, reportedly turned over documents to the Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz regarding the bureau’s failure to investigate potential criminal activity regarding former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the Clinton Foundation and the Russian company that purchased Uranium One.

Horowitz subsequently deemed Cain a whistleblower protected under the Intelligence Community Whistleblower Protection Act, Cain’s lawyer, Michael Socarras, told TheDCNF.

Grassley sent a letter to Wray on Nov. 30 asking pointed questions about the raid on Cain’s private residence in Union Bridge, Maryland. (EXCLUSIVE: FBI Raids Home Of Whistleblower On Clinton Foundation, Lawyer Says)

The Iowa Republican sent a separate letter to Horowitz on Nov. 30 seeking Cain’s documents and citing TheDCNF’s reporting.

CIA Director Will Brief Lawmakers on Assassination of Saudi Journalist
[National Review] CIA director Gina Haspel will brief lawmakers Tuesday on the assassination of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday afternoon.

The news comes after prominent senators on both sides of the aisle complained publicly about the Trump administration’s alleged efforts to prevent Haspel from briefing lawmakers.

White House officials reportedly told Haspel not to attend a classified congressional briefing on Saudi Arabia last Wednesday, prompting speculation that the officials sought to avoid a confrontation between Haspel, whose agents have determined with high confidence that Saudi crown prince Mohammad bin Salman ordered Khashoggi’s murder, and White House personnel who have cast doubt on that finding.

Following Haspel’s absence from the Wednesday briefing, Senator Lindsey Graham threatened to block Republican leadership’s legislative agenda until Haspel was invited to brief him and his colleagues.

"I’m not going to blow past this. If that briefing is not given soon, it’s gonna be hard for me to vote for any spending bill," Graham told reporters on Capitol Hill.

When pressed on what specific measures he would oppose, Graham added, "I’m talking about any key vote. Anything that you need me for to get out of town, I ain’t doing it until we hear from the CIA."

'Scandalous: Chappaquiddick' Premieres With First Episode, 'The Bridge'
[Townhall] It's a political story so scandalous that it has been turned into podcasts, analyzed in books, and even given feature film treatment in 2017. Now, the story of Chappaquiddick is going to be a documentary series on Fox News starting this Sunday night.

On July 18th, 1969, Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) was driving with 28-year-old political strategist Mary Jo Kopechne on Chappaquiddick Island, Massachusetts, when they drove off a cliff and sunk with the vehicle. He escaped, she didn't. Kennedy didn't officially report the accident for about 10 hours, which according to authorities would have been plenty of time for them to rescue the drowning girl.

In the first episode of "Scandalous," viewers will learn some more context about the events leading up to that fateful morning. According to producers, they have new evidence to share.

"The program will chronicle the perspective of many of those involved, along with the journalists who covered the puzzling accident that left the political career of the late Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy tarnished and led to the death of campaign strategist Mary Jo Kopechne," Fox News explained in a statement. "Through archival footage, records and never-before seen photos, the series will revisit the daily twists and turns of the drama that first captivated the world nearly 50 years ago. In addition to airing on FNC, special director cuts of the series will be available on FOX Nation."

Syrian Army unleashes new attack in southern Idlib
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) unleashed a new attack in the southern countryside of the Idlib province after another volatile night inside the buffer zone.

Led by the 4th Armored Division, the Syrian Arab Army fired several surface-to-surface missiles and artillery shells towards the defenses of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
in the southern countryside of the Idlib province.

According to a military source in the government stronghold of Mhardeh, the Syrian Army targeted the jihadist defenses inside the towns of Jarjanaz and al-Tah.

The Syrian military would then expand their attack to the northern countryside of Hama, where they once again struck Jaish al-Izza’s trenches near their stronghold of al-Latamnah.

French economy hit hard by ‘yellow vest’ protests: Minister
[PRESSTV] French finance minister says three weeks of "yellow vest" protests have strongly influenced the country’s economy, with trade in retailers, hotel chains, high-street stores, and restaurants significantly falling as a result of the unrest.

Bruno Le Maire made the remarks on Monday after a meeting with industry groups and business federations affected by the protest movement.

He further noted that sector revenues had been hit by between 15 and 50 percent.

Small retailers had seen a fall in revenue of between 20 and 40 percent, the hotel industry was seeing reservations down 15 to 25 percent, and restaurants, depending on their location, had seen takings collapse by between 20 and 50 percent, he noted.

"The impact is severe and ongoing," Le Maire said, emphasizing that it was nationwide, although Gay Paree, after riots and looting in some of its most upmarket districts on Saturday afternoon and evening, was particularly affected.

During Saturday's disturbances in Gay Paree, tourists were left shocked, with some saying they would cut short their visit.

The movement began on November 17 as a social-media-planned protest against fuel-tax rises but has since morphed into an uprising against the policies of President Emmanuel Macron.

The protests have taken on a name of its own: the "yellow vest" protests, a reference to the vests worn by people active in the transportation industry.

Three people have been killed in the protests since demonstrations started more than two weeks ago, police said.

a suspect for his alleged involvement in cyber stalking and spamming and started the paperwork but haven't done much else under Sections 21 (cyber stalking) and 22 (spamming) of the Pakistain Electronic Crimes Act, 2016.

The investigating officer produced the suspect before a judicial magistrate (South) and requested for his remand for interrogation and investigation.

The IO submitted that a citizen on Nov 27 lodged a complaint, alleging that the suspect had taken some pictures of his 16-year-old son and shared with residents of the area. He said that the suspect was still blackmailing them.

It was further submitted during an inquiry that various pictures and videos related to child pornography were seized from the suspect, who is a final year BBA student.

During the initial probe, it transpired that the suspect had made pornographic photos and videos of 10 children, aged between 10 and 13 years, the IO said.

He had made several fake Facebook and Instagram accounts and created virtual WhatsApp groups through which he invited and added underage children, he added.

The IO further submitted that after creating pornographic videos involving minors, the suspect blackmailed the children and their families for money.

Nigeria's Buhari denies dying and being replaced by lookalike
[REUTERS] Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday denied claims that he had died and been replaced by a Sudanese impostor, breaking his silence on a rumor that has circulated on social media for months.

Buhari, who is running for re-election in February, spent five months in Britannia last year being treated for an undisclosed illness. One theory widely aired on social media - and by some political opponents - was that he had been replaced by a lookalike from Sudan called Jubril.

No evidence has been presented, but videos making the claim have still been viewed thousands of times on YouTube and Facebook.

"It’s real me, I assure you. I will soon celebrate my 76th birthday and I will still go strong," Buhari told Nigerians in a town hall session in Poland, where he was attending a conference, when asked about Jubril.

"A lot of people hoped that I died during my ill health," he said, adding that those who spread the rumor were "ignorant and irreligious".

The presidency circulated Buhari’s comments in an emailed statement entitled "It’s Real Me, President Buhari Responds to Cloning Allegation".

Jihadist rebels caught sneaking towards Syrian Army post for new ambush
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) caught a group of jihadist rebels attempting to sneak towards their lines for a new ambush in the northern countryside of Hama on Monday.

According to a military communique from the Hama province, the Syrian Arab Army was able to foil the attempted by ambush by the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
after they were spotted moving towards the SAA’s positions in Tal Bizam.

The communique said that the Syrian Arab Army was able to kill and wound most of the jihadist fighters before they could return to their lines in the northern countryside of the Hama Governorate.

The jihadist rebels have been carrying out several attacks like this in the past three weeks, prompting the Syrian military to increase their security in northwest Syria.

3 suspects arrested for sexually assaulting teenage student in Muzaffarabad
[DAWN] Muzaffarabad police on Monday jugged
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
three members of a notorious group who had allegedly sexually assaulted a teenaged student more than a week ago.

The accused had also filmed the villainous act to blackmail the victim ‐ a 14-year old 9th-grade student at a private school, said Civil Secretariat SHO Rashid Habib Masoodi.

He said that the victim was standing along the riverbank close to his home on November 22 when the accused forcibly took him to an abandoned ice factory nearby, where two of them assaulted him turn by turn while the other two held him tightly and filmed the evil deed.

Later, the accused showed the clip to the victim and asked him to bring valuables from home or else they would show the clip to everyone.

The terror struck boy brought them a memory card from home, but eventually unfolded his ordeal to his father who instantly lodged an application with the police on Friday, demanding action against the accused.

SHO Masoodi said raids were conducted by a six-member police team at several places to apprehend the accused. Police succeeded in netting three of the accused on Monday, including the prime suspect.

Police said that other members of the roughish gang, against whom several cases had been registered in the past as well, were also being hunted.

Citing local sources, Sputnik reported that the drones were transported from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
to the jihadist-held town of Harem, which is located near the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham stronghold of Ma’arat al-Masreen.

The Sputnik report said that the drones were handed over to jihadist rebels of Libyan and Moroccan descent.

"Terrorists are working under the supervision of a British expert to make modifications on the drones to become lighter and to able to carry small shells loaded with toxic chemical substances," the report said.

Prior to this delivery, jihadists from Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham transported 200 drones to the town of Sarmada in August of this year.

Furthermore, the Sputnik News report claimed that on November 25th, the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham transported at least 50 missiles that were modified by French experts to the Idlib Central Prison.

They added that these missiles contained chemical substances for future use against the Syrian Arab Army and the civilians living within the Syrian Arab Republic.

Scholars claim to have found biblical Ark of the Covenant in Ethiopia
[ALMASDARNEWS] The US-based Bible Archaeology Search and Exploration Institute (BASE) has announced that its scholars have allegedly pinpointed the location of a legendary Biblical relic known as the Ark of the Covenant.

According to the BASE archaeologists, the Ark, a chest said to contain the two stone tablets inscribed with the Ten Commandments, was first shipped out to Egypt and then taken to Æthiopia.

"As unusual as this may sound, the BASE team has uncovered compelling evidence that the Ark may well have been spirited up the Nile River to an eventual resting place in the remote highlands of ancient Kush‐modern-day Æthiopia," BASE said, noting that while their theory is not 100 percent foolproof, it has "strong potential."

The researchers claim that a sect of Jews driven by King Manasseh from Israel took the Ark with them and transported it to Egypt from where they eventually sailed up the Nile to Æthiopia.

BASE Sherlocks pursuing this lead eventually arrived at the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion in the city of Axum, whose priests claimed that the Ark was indeed contained within.

The Sherlocks however were refused access to the alleged relic, as apparently only a guardian monk keeping a lifelong vigil over the Ark can see it.

"At this juncture, we cannot say with certainty that it is, but neither can he say for certain that it isn’t," the Sherlocks said. "What we have concluded is that St. Mary’s of Zion church in Axum, Æthiopia, is the resting place either of an incredible replica of the biblical Ark of the Covenant, or, of the actual Ark of the Covenant itself."

#4  There is some huge historical evidence to back this up. Graham Hancock covered it in his fantastic and well researched book, "The Sign and the Seal".

During Timkat (January 19th or thereabouts) the heavily shrouded Ark is taken out. Then there is Elephantine and Tana Kirko Island at the headwaters of the Nile (lake Tana).

The priest monks of Tana Kirkos still live on the island where the Ark of the covenant was kept for about 800 years. Levitical age blood sacrifices were performed until 338 A.D., the year the nation of Ethiopia converted to Christianity.

#11  Actually Jeremiah took the Ark out of Jerusalem during one of the Babylonian sieges and took it to Egypt.

So some of this matches.

The Ethiopians have claimed for many years that they have the Ark.

There are the ruins of a Jewish TEMPLE on an island in the Nile. That is significant as the building could not be called a temple unless it housed the Ark.

Lots of interesting discussion

NATO chief demands Russia release Ukrainian sailors, vessels
[ALMASDARNEWS] Secretary General of NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
Jens Stoltenberg demanded that Russia release the detained Ukrainian sailors and ships it seized during the Kerch Strait incident, speaking in a presser in Brussels on Monday.

"Russia must release the Ukrainian sailors and ships, it must also allow freedom of navigation and unhindered access to Ukrainian ports in the Sea of Azov. Ukrainian vessels, military as well as civilian, have the right to navigate through the Kerch Strait and the Sea of Azov," the NATO chief said.

Stoltenberg stated that since the "the illegal annexation of Crimea" NATO has provided political and practical support to Ukraine, highlighting the increase in the number of ships under NATO’s command in the Black Sea region.

Census confirms: 63 percent of ‘non-citizens’ on welfare, 4.6 million households
[WashingtonExaminer] A majority of "non-citizens," including those with legal green card rights, are tapping into welfare programs set up to help poor and ailing Americans, a Census Bureau finding that bolsters President Trump’s concern about immigrants colonists costing the nation.

In a new analysis of the latest numbers, from 2014, 63 percent of non-citizens are using a welfare program, and it grows to 70 percent for those here 10 years or more, confirming another concern that once immigrants colonists tap into welfare, they don’t get off it.

The Center for Immigration Studies said in its report that the numbers give support for Trump’s plan to cut non-citizens off welfare from the "public charge" if they want a green card that allows them to legally work in the United States.

"The Trump administration has proposed new ’public charge’ rules making it harder for prospective immigrants colonists to qualify for lawful permanent residence -- green cards -- if they use or are likely to use U.S. welfare programs," said CIS.

"Concern over immigrant welfare use is justified, as households headed by non-citizens use means-tested welfare at high rates. Non-citizens in the data include illegal immigrants colonists, long-term temporary visitors like guest workers, and permanent residents who have not naturalized. While barriers to welfare use exist for these groups, it has not prevented them from making extensive use of the welfare system, often receiving benefits on behalf of U.S.-born children," added the Washington-based immigration think tank.

The numbers are huge. The report said that there are 4,684,784 million non-citizen households receiving welfare.

And nearly all, 4,370,385, have at least one worker in the house.

‘US incapable of dealing with Iran's missile power’
[PRESSTV] A political commentator says America raises a hue and cry about the Iranian missile program because Washington is incapable of militarily competing with Iran's defense power.

E. Michael Jones told Press TV on Monday that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s "condemnation" of an alleged missile test by Iran was a sign of the "bankruptcy of American foreign policy."

He explained that since World War II, the US navy has been basically reliant on aircraft carriers as the main projector of force, but that the development of missile technology has endangered that military superiority.

"It looks as if the aircraft carrier may be obsolete because of missile technology," Jones said, adding that the US purported concerns about the Iranian missile program showed America was in "a very weak position."

On Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif responded to Pompeo by calling attention to the fact that the US secretary of state was invoking a resolution against Iran that the US has totally breached by withdrawing from the Iran deal.

Commenting on Pompeo's remarks, Jones echoed a similar sentiment, "On the diplomatic front, you can’t violate laws with impunity, violate treaties with impunity and then expect other people to hold to treaties that you violated even though there is no treaty that says that they are not allowed to develop missiles."

Formal probe launched in UK against anti-Iran TV station
[PRESSTV] Britannia’s media regulator has launched an official investigation into claims that a London-based TV station praised terror attacks in Iran apparently under influence and support of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
The Guardian said in a report on Monday that Ofcom had begun investigating whether Iran International, a TV station based in western London which broadcasts programs in Farsi, broke broadcasting standards by airing a footage in September in which a representative of a terror group outlawed in Iran praised an attack on a military parade in the city of Ahvaz.

"Under Ofcom’s rules, potentially offensive content must be presented with sufficient context," said an Ofcom spokesperson, adding, "We are investigating whether this news program fell short of these requirements."

The media regulator also issued an announcement saying that the probe, which was based on three complaints, did not mean that Iran International had broken the laws by airing comments of Yacoub Hor al-Tostari, a front man for the Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahvaz, which condoned the killing of dozens of people and military personnel in the terrorist attack.

Iran’s Ambassador to the UK Hamdi Baeidinejad tweeted on Monday that Ofocm had officially confirmed that it was considering Iran’s complaint against Iran international.

French cops call for troops on the streets as rioters plan third weekend of violence after ‘worst Paris riots in 50 years’
[TheSun] The so-called 'Yellow Vest' fuel price protesters have attacked buildings and burned cars while insisting the violence was 'the start of a revolution'.

FRENCH cops have admitted they "can't cope" with the violent unrest in Gay Paree and are calling President Macron to send in the Army as rioters plan a third weekend of carnage.

Right-wing thugs and masked anarchists joined the "Yellow Vest" fuel price protesters last week - vandalising buildings such as the Arc de Triomphe and torching cars.

The anti-government rioters, who threw hammers and steel bolts at officers, said their movement was "the start of a revolution".

Yves Lefebvre, a member of the Unité SGP police union, told La Belle France Info radio that security forces at the weekend were exhausted by the worst riots in the city since 1968.

He said: "The (officers) don’t want to remain as the last rampart against insurrection. We can’t take it - I call on the president to face up to his responsibilities."

The "yellow vest" movement, named after the high-visibility jackets of lorry drivers, said that they would return to the capital next weekend.

And there have been calls online to block roads and oil refineries around the country while other demonstrators plan to march on the Élysée Palace.

Frederic Lagache, of the Alliance police union, called for a state of emergency to be called and for "army reinforcements" to guard national monuments.

The move would give more powers to the security forces, ranging from stop-and-searches to carrying out raids on the homes of suspected rioters.

French leader Emmanuel Macron summoned his senior ministers and policy chiefs to an emergency meeting on Sunday to discuss how to deal with the carnage.

He said the mobile gendarmerie and CRS riot police had failed to stop the unrest as men, who police have branded "professional" rioters, aged in their thirties and forties hurled projectiles at them.

Mr Macron told Christophe Castaner, the interior minister, to "adapt the methods used for maintaining order" following concerns that cops had failed to contain the rampaging protesters.

After seeing the devastation for himself Macron then headed a crisis meeting over what is thought to be the worst rioting in La Belle France since the civil unrest in 1968.

There were more than 400 arrests and up to a 130 serious injuries - including 23 coppers.

Reports have indicated the CRS, the French riot police, used "grenades" to gain control of the Gay Pareeian streets and stop the protesters.

Engaged couple murdered for 'honour' over accusation of taking pictures together
[DAWN] A girl was allegedly murdered in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
and her fiancé was rubbed out in Swat, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, after accusing them of "meeting and taking selfies" last month, it emerged on Monday.

The 19-year old girl was allegedly poisoned by her father in Pirabad area of Orangi Town while her fiancé, who was also her maternal cousin, was rubbed out in Swat
...a valley and an administrative district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistain, located 99 mi from Islamabad. It is inhabited mostly by Pashto speakers. The place has gone steadily downhill since the days when Babe Ruth was the Sultan of Swat...
in the alleged incident of so-called honour killing, Karachi police said.

The dear departed girl’s mother lodged a complaint with the court which directed police to lodge a murder case, after which the victim’s father and grandfather were nabbed
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
, revealed Pirabad SHO Ayaz Brohi.

The arrested father, however, claimed that her daughter did away with himself by taking poisonous substance inside their home in Qasba Colony.

SHO Ayaz Brohi said the death of the girl occurred on November 7. "Next day, the father and other relatives buried her body by claiming that she had did away with himself. No autopsy was conducted," he said.

However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
the girl’s mother later filed an application before the district and session judge West who ordered the police to get the murder case registered on her complaint.

Pirabad police, in compliance with the court’s order, registered the murder case on November 24 and arrested the dear departed girl’s father, Abdul Raheem, and grand-father, Abdul Hakeem, who were later sent to the prison on judicial remand. The matter has now been handed over to the Sherlocks for further probe.

The complainant told police that several days prior to the incident, her sister had come from their native town in Swat along with her son Salman, who was the fiancé of the victim girl.

She stated that the couple met and took pictures, but later objections were raised by the girl’s relatives.

SHO Ayaz Brohi said that as per statement of the mother, her maternal nephew was rubbed out in Swat over so-called honour killing and later on her daughter was also murdered in Karachi.

The officer said that since the youth’s murder did not take place in Karachi, there were not in a position to comment on the murder allegation.

He said the police were waiting to exhume the body of the girl buried in a local graveyard in Karachi to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Iran arrests fertility expert accused of spy links
[DAWN] An Iranian fertility expert accused of working with foreign "espionage networks" to downplay the country’s population crisis has been tossed in the slammer
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
, state news agency IRNA confirmed on Sunday.

It did not give details of the charges, but quoted a lawyer who named the expert as Meimanat Hosseini Chavoshi.

She is listed by the University of Melbourne as working at its School of Population and Global Health, published widely on Iran’s once-lauded fertility and family-planning policies.

On Saturday, hard-line newspaper Kayhan reported the arrest of several population "activists ... who, under the cover of scientific activities, had infiltrated state bodies".

It said they manipulated statistics and handed sensitive information to Iran’s enemies as part of efforts at "cultural and social invasion".

Iran was once considered an international success story in population control, bringing birth rates down from seven per woman in the 1980s to 1.66 in 2016, according to World Bank figures.

Then-health minister Alireza Marandi received the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
Population Award in 2000 for his family planning initiatives.

Chavoshi has written extensively about these efforts, which she described as the "fastest fall in fertility ever recorded" in a 2009 book.

But lately there has been concern that Iran overshot its target, with the number of births falling well below the level needed to keep the population growing.

In 2012, supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said it was a mistake to have continued the family planning policies of the 1990s, and called for new measures to double the population to 150 million.

"There is evidence these individuals are connected to Western espionage networks," Nasrollah Pejmanfar, a member of parliament’s cultural commission, told the newspaper.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Jihadist rebels blow up 2 bridges in southern Aleppo
[ALMASDARNEWS] The jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
destroyed two bridges in the southern countryside of Aleppo this past weekend, opposition activists reported via social media.

According to the reports, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham blew up two bridges near the key town of Tal al-’Eis in order to prevent any potential infiltration attempts by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies in southern Aleppo.

No further details were released regarding the destruction of these two bridges near Tal al-’Eis.

This move by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham comes just days after they launched several attacks on the Syrian Arab Army’s positions near the Aleppo-Idlib Highway (var. M-5 Highway).

Stanford Fraternity Told to Take American Flag Down to ‘Improve Image'
LDR: An administrator encouraged Sigma Chi to take down the American flag flown in front of its house in order to improve its image on campus.

Let me explain. We all know the fate of Sigma Chi: it no longer exists. As is the experience of many Stanford Greek organizations past, while on probation last year, Sigma Chi sought to improve its image with the university so as to ensure its survival and the eventual lifting of its probation. Obviously, this aim was not realized. Sigma Chi is gone. Nevertheless, some administrative advice extended to Sigma Chi during this effort is worth noting, even after the fact, for its anti-Americanism.

Pablo Lozano '18 is the primary source for the following account. Other individuals, who asked not to be named, have corroborated it.

Sanders seeks ‘bigger’ 2020 bid despite some warning signs: AP
[PRESSTV] US Senator Bernie Sanders
...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords. He ran for the 2016 nomination for president, to be cheated by Hillary, then went back to being a socialist...
is preparing to launch a bigger presidential campaign than his first, as advisers predict he would open the 2020 Democratic presidential primary season as a political powerhouse, rather than an turban underdog.

A final decision has not been made, but close advisers to the 77-year-old self-described democratic socialist from the state of Vermont suggest that neither age nor interest from a glut of progressive presidential candidates would discourage him from attempting a second run for the presidency, The News Agency that Dare Not be Named reported Monday.

As Sanders’ advisers gathered for a conference in the state of Vermont over the weekend, some spoke openly about a 2020 White House bid as if it was almost inevitable, according to the report.

"This time, he starts off as a front-runner, or one of the front-runners," Sanders’ 2016 campaign manager Jeff Weaver told the AP.

"It’ll be a much bigger campaign if he runs again, in terms of the size of the operation," Weaver added, underscoring the senator’s proven ability to generate massive fundraising through small-dollar donations and his ready-made network of staff and volunteers.

Amid the enthusiasm, however, there were also signs of cracks in Sanders’ political base.

His loyal voters are examining a prospective 2020 Democratic field likely to feature a collection of ambitious liberal leaders, instead of the establishment-minded Perennial Presidential Campaigner Hillary Crooked Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away...
, who beat Sanders in 2016 to become the Democratic nominee for president.

A new generation of outspoken Democrats such as Senators Elizabeth Fauxchahontas Warren
...Dem Senatrix from Massachussetts, who traces her noble lineage all the way back to Big Chief Spouting Bull. It has been alleged that she speaks with forked tongue but she denies that...
, Cory Booker and Kamala Harris are expected to seek the Democratic nomination.

All three have embraced Sanders’ call for "Medicare for All" and a $15 minimum wage, among other policy priorities he helped bring into the Democratic mainstream during Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s presidency.

How a Stupendously Ignorant Tweet From Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Undermines Single Payer Healthcare
[Townhall] Before we delve into her new "argument," I'd like to make a point about why the conservative commentariat sometimes seems fixated on Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. First, she entered the national spotlight as a media fascination and darling -- a young woman of color who shook up the Democratic Party from the left by defeating an establishment fixture. She wasn't randomly plucked from relative obscurity by right-wing writers or pundits for sport; she was elevated by a mainstream media that loves covering, and sympathizes with, rising liberal stars. And please recall the DNC Chairman referring to her as "the future of our party." Second, because of the attention lavished upon her, she has built a massive online platform. Among the dozens of newly-elected Democrats arriving in DC to serve in the next Congress, Ocasio-Cortez has, by far, the largest social media following. One metric:

U.S. Supreme Court Turns Away Enviro Challenge to Trump's Border Wall
[Al-Rooters] The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rebuffed a challenge by three conservation groups to the authority of President Donald Trump's administration to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, a victory for Trump who has made the wall a centerpiece of his hardline immigration policies.

The justices' declined to hear the groups' appeal of a ruling by a federal judge in California rejecting their claims that the administration had pursued border wall projects without complying with applicable environmental laws. The groups are the Center for Biological Diversity, the Animal Legal Defense Fund and Defenders of Wildlife.

Their lawsuits said construction operations would harm plants, rare wildlife habitats, threatened coastal birds like the snowy plover and California gnatcatcher, and other species such as fairy shrimp and the Quino checkerspot butterfly.

The three conservation groups sued last year in San Diego after the Department of Homeland Security authorized projects to replace existing border fencing at two sites in southern California, as well as the construction of prototype border walls.

The dispute centers on a 1996 law aimed at countering illegal immigration that gave the federal government the authority to build border barriers and preempt legal requirements such as environmental rules. That law also limited the kinds of legal challenges that could be mounted.

Denmark to banish foreign criminals to remote island
[Telegraph] Foreign criminals sentenced to deportation are to be banished to a remote island off the coast of Denmark, the country's government has announced.

Finance minister Kristian Jensen said the criminals will be detained at a facility on Lindholm, an uninhabited seven-hectare island in the province of Vordingborg.

The tough scheme was set up as part of an agreement between Denmark’s conservative coalition government and its anti-immigration ally, the Danish People’s Party (DF).

The DF's official Twitter account celebrated the announcement by publishing an animated cartoon which shows a dark-skinned man being dumped by a ship on a desert island.

A front man for the party said: "Foreign criminals have no reason to be in Denmark. Until we can get rid of them, we will move them to the island of Lindholm, where they will be obliged to stay at the new deportation centre at night.

"There will be police there around the clock."

The Lindholm facility will house rejected asylum seekers who have been convicted of crimes, as well as foreign citizens who do not have permission to stay but cannot be deported for legal reasons.

For example, some of those due to be detained at the facility are stateless, while others come from countries which do not have a readmission agreement with Denmark.

"They will not be imprisoned," Mr Jensen told Danish news agency Ritzau.

"There will be a ferry service to and from the island, but the ferry will not operate around the clock, and they must stay at the departure centre at night. That way we will be better able to monitor where they are."

According to Danish news website The Local, opposition figures have strongly criticised the proposals, which one politician described as a "humanitarian collapse."

"The green government I want to lead would never force people on to a deserted island," said Uffe Elbæk, a prime ministerial candidate and leader of the Alternative party.

"Inhuman politics are creating a completely different Denmark to the Denmark I love," he added.

Morten Østergaard, leader of the Social Liberals, said the island facility was merely a "symbolic" gesture that would not tackle the root cause of the country's crime and immigration woes.

There are already two detention centres in Denmark for criminals and failed asylum seekers: Kærshovedgård and Sjælsmark.

Though nearly 87 per cent of the country's population is of Danish descent, the number of migrants colonists and refugees from non-Western countries such as Afghanistan and Syria has risen sharply.
