Judge orders Michael Avenatti assets liquidated to pay for back child, spousal support
[Wash Times] Having a bad fall, Michael? Karma
A Southern California judge has transferred assets including an airplane and a Ferrari from porn actress Stormy Daniels' lawyer Michael Avenatti as part of his divorce, according to court records obtained Thursday.

Orange County Judge Carol Henson on Tuesday ordered some of Avenatti's assets be liquidated and sold for back child and spousal support.

Although the total amount Avenatti owes is unclear, he was previously ordered to pay more than $150,000 a month in child and spousal support.

In Tuesday's order, Henson said Avenatti must pay at least $80,000 to Lisa Storie-Avenatti on top of the transferred assets by Jan. 2.

Among those assets are a 2017 Ferrari GT Spider, five watches including a Rolex that retails for $12,000, a sculpture by famed architect Frank Gehry and a six-seat business jet worth millions. Avenatti's attorney, Matt DeArmey, said the asset transfer is a standard part of divorce cases.

Russia laughs off US navy ship near its Pacific coast amid Black Sea tensions
[Telegraph] Russia has laughed off a US warship's "challenge" to its territorial claims in the Sea of Japan as "unsuccessful" while reacting angrily to reports that US ships could also enter the Black Sea.

The US naval activity comes less than two weeks after Russia seized three Ukrainian ships off the coast of Crimea in the Black Sea last month in an escalation of existing tensions there.

The guided missile destroyer USS McCampbell "sailed in the vicinity of Peter the Great Bay to challenge Russia's excessive maritime claims" in a demonstrative "freedom of navigation" operation on Wednesday, the navy said.

But the Russian defence ministry claimed on Thursday that the McCampbell had not come closer than 100 kilometres (62 miles) to its territorial waters and was currently "demonstrating its bravery" 250 miles from Russian shores.

A destroyer and several warplanes nonetheless followed the US ship, which tried to "get away at maximum speed," the ministry said in a sarcastic statement carried on state television.

More Hondurans prepare to return home: 'The caravan is over. Everyone is on their own now.'
[SD Union Trib] After setting out from their Honduran homes eight weeks ago and arriving in Tijuana in mid-November with the dream of reaching the U.S., five members of the Central American migrant caravan decided Thursday to turn around and go home.

They are not alone.

In recent days, vans from Mexico’s National Migration Institute have been taking migrants from the El Barretal shelter to immigration offices where they can begin the voluntary repatriation process. Earlier this week, a group of migrants bid their fellow Hondurans farewell with hugs and folk songs. A top Mexican official told one news organization that about 1,000 members of the caravan have already left for Honduras.

The dream of the caravan was to move in large groups through dangerous areas to protect each other from criminals and smugglers, and eventually arrive at the U.S.-Mexico border where they could seek asylum and gain steady employment. Many traveled 2,800 miles mostly on foot through brutal conditions and were under the impression that it would be just a matter of days before they could cross the U.S. border, like crossing into Guatemala and Mexico.

Now there is resignation and disappointment.

"There is no future in Mexico," said David Lemus, 17, of Honduras as he boarded a van that would take him to Mexican immigration offices.

Thursday’s departure had a more reflective tone as those who stayed in Tijuana debated what to do next. Nery and Dania Melgar, siblings who became close friends with Lemus during their journey to the border, were more blunt with their assessment of the situation.

"The caravan is over," said Nery Melgar, 22. "Everyone is on their own now."

Dania Melgar, 26, might join Lemus if she doesn’t get a Mexican work permit soon. She applied two weeks ago and is running out of patience.
"I've given them plenty of time to meet my demands!"
"If I don’t get it tomorrow I’m going to leave," she said. "What am I going to do here without a work permit? We get food here but there is nothing to do."

More than 6,000 caravan members arrived in Tijuana last month. On Thursday, about 2,500 were registered at the El Barretal shelter and between 300 and 500 stayed behind outside the now-shuttered shelter at the Benito Juárez sports complex.

Where are the remaining 3,000? That depends on who you ask.

Rodolfo Hernandez, president of the Baja California State Migrant Council, told local media that, "nobody knows where they are."

David Leon, the National Civil Protection Coordinator in Mexico told the Mexico City newspaper EFE that 1,000 have returned to their country and another 1,000 have attempted to cross into the United States. U.S. Customs and Border Protection disputed those figures Thursday but did not provide numbers of their own.

A representative from Mexico’s National Migration Institute told the Union-Tribune they are in a transitional period with the new government and the only person authorized to share information is the head of the agency. The representative hoped to have information available late Thursday or Friday.

In El Barretal, most of the migrants are applying for work permits in Mexico. They either want to stay in the country long term, or to save money while they wait for their number to be called as part of a long wait list of asylum seekers.

Meanwhile, a couple of entrepreneurial migrants have set up small businesses inside the shelter.

"Once I get my work permit, I am gone," said Hector Lorenzo, 30, from Honduras.

Lorenzo makes about $300 pesos a day selling cigarettes. He’s a natural salesman.

"Smokes, smokes," he yelled as people walked by Thursday. "These cure cancer, and if they don’t they’ll kill you faster."
interesting sales technique
Brenda Rodriguez, 40, of Guatemala sells empanadas for 10 pesos each. She had her son send her 2,000 pesos, which she used to buy pans, hot plates, and materials. On Thursday, she sold 50 empanadas in a little over an hour.

"It feels good to work," she said. "It relaxes us."

ZØRE of Israel announces Military/Law Enforcement discount program
Jerusalem, Israel, June 11, 2018 ‐ ZØRE, maker of the world’s fastest locked-to-loaded gun lock, announced today the launch of its LEO program which offers discounts to Law Enforcement, Military and Veterans on the company’s unique gun lock products. Purchases through the program will receive a 10% discount on the ZØRE X gun lock.

"Those who serve and protect us deserve our respect and gratitude ‐ not just in word but in action," said Bruno Escojido, CEO of ZORE. "This program is a small token of our appreciation for their service and dedication to their fellow citizens and country. As a company founded by veterans, we believe in giving back to that community.

The ZØRE X keeps handguns ready to fire at a moment’s notice, but completely safe from unauthorized users through its patent-pending technology. The cartridge-shaped lock, placed in the gun’s chamber, is secured through a unique combination-lock dial, RAPIDialTM, which allows for swift unlocking under any circumstances, including complete darkness. Once a user inputs the code, one simple charging motion both ejects the ZØRE X lock and chambers a fresh round.

White House chief of staff Kelly to resign in days: CNN
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - John Kelly is expected to resign as U.S. President Donald Trump’s chief of staff in the coming days, CNN reported on Friday, citing unnamed sources.

Representatives for the White House did not be immediately respond to a request for comment on the report.

The rocky relationship between Trump and Kelly, 68, a retired Marine Corps general, has been widely reported. CNN, citing its sources, said their relationship was now worse than ever and that the two were not on speaking terms, but added that no decision on Kelly’s possible departure was final until it was announced.

A source told Reuters last month that Trump was considering a replacement for Kelly. Vice President Mike Pence’s chief of staff, Nick Ayers, is a possible contender, the source said.

Kelly had sought to bring more order and stability to a White House that has often been chaotic under the unpredictable Trump.

Former U.S. Attorney General Barr may return to job
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former U.S. Attorney General William Barr, who served under former President George H.W. Bush, is the leading candidate for the job as a permanent replacement for Jeff Sessions, a source familiar with the matter said on Thursday.

The Washington Post reported earlier on Thursday that President Donald Trump could choose his nominee for attorney general in coming days, and that Trump had told advisers he plans to nominate Barr.

Sessions departed from the role last month, and Trump named Matthew Whitaker as the government’s top lawyer on an interim basis. With the current session of Congress set to soon end, anyone Trump nominates may have to wait until well into 2019 for confirmation.

Barr has worked in the private sector since serving as attorney general from 1991 to 1993, retiring from Verizon Communications (VZ.N) in 2008.

Babylon Bee - Enhanced Footage Of Memorial Service Reveals Hillary Clinton Was Actually Reciting Ancient Ritual To Summon Cthulhu From His Slumber
[Babylon Bee] Satire, for the dense WASHINGTON, D.C.‐It may have looked like Hillary Clinton was reciting the Apostles' Creed along with the rest of those gathered at yesterday's memorial service for George H.W. Bush‐Trump and his wife excepted. But the truth appears to be far more sinister: enhanced, slowed-down, zoomed-in footage of the event revealed that Clinton was actually reciting an ancient cultic ritual to raise ancient god Cthulhu from his slumber.

As others around her dutifully cited the Apostles' Creed, Clinton's eyes glazed over in a trance. Her voice took on a cold, eldritch quality, "at least more than usual," according to witnesses. "Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn!" she began, as others in her pew shifted uncomfortably. "Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn!"

According to scholars, the phrase roughly translates as "In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming."

The doors of the church burst wide open. A frigid wind blasted the congregation as Clinton chanted louder and louder, approaching the front of the church: "Cthulhu fhtagn! Cthulhu fhtagn!" CTHULHU FHTAGN!"

House Pubs Ask Pres. Trump to Declassify 'Damning' Obama DOJ Emails
[PJ] A long classified email chain from October 2016 reveals that a large group of Obama Justice Department officials -- including James Comey -- was aware that there was highly misleading information in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant to spy on Trump campaign, John Solomon of The Hill reported Wednesday.

According to Solomon's sources, the documents "may provide the most damning evidence to date" of potential FISA abuses.

The emails show that some in the intelligence community -- possibly the NSA -- had problems with the quality of the intelligence in the Steele dossier, which was used to obtain the surveillance warrant.

The emails also reveal that the officials knew that British spy Christopher Steele had talked to Yahoo News about his findings, as some on the email chain had expressed concerns about that.

Steele was hired by opposition research firm Fusion GPS (funded by Hillary Clinton and the DNC) to put together a (now discredited) dossier on candidate Donald Trump.

In January 2018, Senator Charles Grassley, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, referred Steele to the Department of Justice for criminal investigation after he and Senator Lindsey Graham identified potential false statements Steele had made to the FBI.

Huawei arrest stokes fears of China reprisals among America Inc executives
HONG KONG/SHANGHAI (Reuters) - At a closed-door security meeting of U.S. companies in Singapore on Thursday, one topic was high on the agenda: the arrest of a top executive at Chinese tech giant Huawei [HWT.UL] and the potential backlash on American firms operating in China.

Officials from major U.S. companies who attended the event, a scheduled meeting of the local chapter of the U.S. Department of State’s Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC), voiced concerns about retaliation against American firms and their executives, two people with knowledge of the meeting said.

A number of attendees said their companies were considering restricting non-essential China travel and looking to move meetings outside the country, one of the people added.

Security executives for companies including Walt Disney Co, Alphabet Inc’s Google, Facebook Inc, and PayPal Holdings Inc attended the meeting, according to the sources and a LinkedIn posting by one of the attendees.

The companies all declined to comment or did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Environmentalists Betray The Cause: How Mass Immigration Affects The Land & The Critters
[Barely A Blog] Environmentalists have become traitors to a cause we should all care about: our environment, the resources it provides and the creatures and critters who depend on these for survival. They used to care. No more.

Environmental groups, in particular, "the Center for Biological Diversity, the Animal Legal Defense Fund and Defenders of Wildlife," claim, in multiple lawsuits, that "construction operations [of The Border Wall] would harm plants, rare wildlife habitats, threatened coastal birds like the snowy plover and California gnatcatcher, and other species such as fairy shrimp and the Quino checkerspot butterfly."

To the contrary, migrants pouring over the borders into the habitats these idiots claim to care about are doing great damage. But the situation is far more dire.

"Destruction of this country’s social fabric has never bothered environmentalists. But what of its environmental resources? At the current rate of immigration, 40 percent of America’s lakes and streams are no longer fishable or swimmable. What will be their fate in the middle of the century?"

In California, a school will have to be built every day in perpetuity to keep up with the unremitting influx. Urban sprawl, traffic congestion, overcrowding, pollution, and rural land loss‐there isn’t a community in the US that’ll escape the social and environmental despoliation witnessed in California and Florida.

Trump And Advisers Discuss Replacing Pence On 2020 Ticket
It looks as if the 2020 presidential election became a bit more interesting.

While Democrats comb through their entire fleet in an effort to find anyone who may be able to contend with a polarizing, seemingly hard-to-beat incumbent, Republicans are busy making their own personnel decisions.

According to a new report published in Vanity Fair, President Trump and his advisers have been talking about whether Vice President Mike Pence should stay on as the president’s righthand man.

Home Front: Culture Wars
And Then What?
h/t Instapundit
Some people, on both the "Left" and "Right" have been talking about revolution. Whether it’s "We need to get rid of those fascist right-winging KKK Nazis" or "we need to get rid of those liberal commie pinko hippies" or whatever, the idea of using widespread violence to overthrow the existing order and impose ones own has been gaining steam.

...But what if it’s the side that wants less government intrusion into people’s lives, less control, and less bureaucracy, you have a real problem. How do you set that up so it sticks past even one election cycle (presuming you have elections in whatever you set up)?

So, are you going to have a Constitution? How will you establish that Constitution? Will you just write it and impose it on the population or will you use some mechanism, any mechanism, to give the people some voice in the Constitution you establish? If you don’t have a Constitution, how are you going to limit the government, not just now but in the future?

High level decision: are you going to let the people have a say in their own government or are you just going to force on them the government (strong or weak) which you want them to have? If the latter, how are you any better than the people who wanted to impose their government on the people? (And if you say "no government" then how do you prevent someone else from coming along and establishing their own choice of government on you?)

And if, instead, you allow the people to choose, the same people that voted in the government you just overthrew, what is to stop them from just voting back the same thing once more, rendering that whole insurrection and civil war an exercise in futility with the blood being shed for nothing.

#4  A bunch of competing states barely held together by common interest and a federal government is what then. That was the intent in the constitution, it was broken by the Civil War but there is no reason it can't be recreated.
Posted by: rjschwarz || 12/07/2018 11:50 Comments || Top||

#5  Repealing the Progressive amendments would be a start. 16, 17. Repeal the commerce clause or severely limit it. And emphasize 9 & 10th amendments.

Do that, and you'd fix a great many things that are broken. Power moves back to the states.

Add term limits amendment for the house and senate, and a balanced budget amendment with an anti-omnibus-bill clause requiring explicit financing information in each bill.

That fixes even more problems.

Address the grow-never-shrink nature of the federal government:

Toss in a sunset amendment requiring all laws/regulations to expire after 5 years unless explicity renewed.

Address corruption and back-room deals:

Add a sunshine amendment requiring all but classified national security issues to be openly presented and debated online to anyone that wants to see them prior to voting in committee or the floor, and all bills have to explicitly cite their constitutional basis.

Allow any amount of campaign contributions but they must be publicly declared within 24 hours and that includes the source unless its less than $100.

You do those things, and the nation reboots into something it should have been: A Republic of Laws where the rights and liberty of individuals are the highest value.

77 years ago, a date that still lives in infamy
[American Thinker] On this day 77 years ago, Japan launched a surprise attack against a U.S. naval base in Pearl Harbor in the then-American territory of Hawaii. Over 2,400 Americans were killed, over 1,000 wounded on that day. The countries were not at war at the time. The next day, the U.S. Congress declared war against Japan. Speaking to a joint session of Congress, President Franklin D. Roosevelt (D) called the day of the attack "a date which will live in infamy." Three days later, Germany and Italy declared war against the U.S.; the U.S. then declared war against Germany and Italy. Thus did the U.S. enter into what was later called World War ll, which had been raging in Europe and elsewhere for over two years.

The shock of the attack, with not even a trigger warning, to use a modern term, did not send young people then to scurry to safe spaces, as many do today at the first sign of distress, such as, oh, say, their preferred candidate not winning the presidency or hearing ideas that upset them. Enduring hard times during the Depression years preceding that attack, people of all ages rushed to sign up for the military.

One of them was George H.W. Bush. Six months after Pearl Harbor, in June 1942, he celebrated graduating high school and his 18th birthday by enlisting in the U.S. Navy. A year later, three days before his 19th birthday, he became an ensign and one of the youngest Naval aviators. Surviving the horrors of years of war ‐ no safe spaces for him ‐ he married, completed college, and went on to live a life of service to his country, love for his family.

It is hauntingly symbolic that Bush passed away just a few days before another Pearl Harbor anniversary was buried the day prior. Another veteran of that terrible war, former senator and presidential candidate Bob Dole (R), now 95, who was severely injured during that same brutal war but also later led a productive life, struggled to stand in respect at Bush's casket.

They, and millions like them, rushed to danger to protect us all. Most are gone now; their valor endures.

Priest charged with sexually abusing Filipino boys
[U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement] CINCINNATI ‐ An American priest from Cincinnati has been charged by a federal criminal complaint for allegedly sexually abusing minor boys. The charges follow an international investigation that spanned two continents by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and authorities in the Philippines.

Kenneth B. Hendricks, 77, of Cincinnati, was arrested by Manila-based HSI special agents alongside Filipino authorities Tuesday evening in the Philippines, where he currently serves as a missionary priest.

Benjamin C. Glassman, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, and Steve Francis, Special Agent in Charge, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), announced the charges.

The government unsealed the criminal complaint today. According to that document and its supporting affidavit, on November 13, HSI received information regarding alleged sexual exploitation of multiple minor Filipino boys.

Information indicated that a Catholic priest ‐ later identified as Father Hendricks ‐ had been sexually assaulting the boys. Subsequently, several victims have been identified and provided statements to law enforcement.
Update at 8:10 a.m. ET: more from the Cincinnati Enquirer here. An odd tale.

Why Michael Flynn Was Set Up
BLUF:
[PJ] What was Flynn's real sin?

As the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) from July 2012 until he was forced out in August 2014, he clashed mightily with the Obama administration's policies on ISIS and the Iran nuclear deal, among other things. As a result, the decorated general put himself "on the wrong side of history" and at odds with the Obama-friendly deep state.

The outspoken general continued to rock the boat after he left the administration.

For instance, in November 2015 during an appearance on Fox News, Flynn called for an investigation into the ISIS intel-skewing scandal, recommending that it "start right at the top."

"Where intelligence starts and stops is at the White House," Flynn said. "The president sets the priorities and he's the number one customer. So if he's not getting the intelligence that he needs and he's not paying attention to what else is going on, then something else is going wrong between him and the advisers that he has."

Obama already despised Flynn. But his hate likely turned to fear when his former DIA decided to throw his support behind Donald J. Trump, another boat-rocker who had a real chance of winning.

As Sheld noted, Obama made a point after the 2016 election of advising Trump not to hire Flynn. But Trump didn't listen.

Next thing Flynn knew, government spies were listening in on his innocuous phone conversations with Kislyak, his name was unmasked by someone in the Obama administration, and the contents of the call were leaked to the Washington Post (which remains the only serious crime to have emerged in the Russia investigation).

Feds received whistleblower evidence in 2017 alleging Clinton Foundation wrongdoing
[The Hill] When a House subcommittee chairman bangs his gavel next week to convene an unprecedented investigative hearing into the Clinton Foundation, two questions will linger as preeminent: Is the Clinton family charity really the international do-gooder that earned a perfect four-star rating from Charity Navigator, or does it suffer from corruption and illegalities as conservatives allege? And if it is the latter, how much evidence of wrongdoing does the government possess?

The answer to the first question is that the foundation and its projects reported collecting about $2.5 billion to help global crises, from AIDS to earthquakes, even as its own auditors, lawyers and employees privately warned of problems over the years.

The answer to the second question may reside in 6,000 pages of evidence attached to a whistleblower submission filed secretly more than a year ago with the IRS and FBI.

That evidence was assembled by a private firm called MDA Analytics LLC, run by accomplished ex-federal criminal investigators, who alleged the Clinton Foundation engaged in illegal activities and may be liable for millions of dollars in delinquent taxes and penalties.

In addition to the IRS, the firm’s partners have had contact with prosecutors in the main Justice Department in Washington and FBI agents in Little Rock, Ark. And last week, a federal prosecutor suddenly asked for documents from their private investigation.

The 48-page submission, dated Aug. 11, 2017, supports its claims with 95 exhibits, including internal legal reviews that the foundation conducted on itself in 2008 and 2011.

Slovakia Expels Russian Diplomat for Espionage
[Free Beacon] Slovakia expelled a Russian diplomat for espionage work, the nation's prime minister told reporters Wednesday.

Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini explained that gathered intelligence supported the decision. He said that the spy, in the country on a diplomatic visa, had been engaged "in intelligence activities against Slovakia and NATO."

The unnamed Russian was declared persona non grata on Nov. 22, requiring his departure, and he left by the 24th. The Russian had been working in the Russian Embassy in Bratislava, Slovakia's capital, and Pellegrini said he violated the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

Russian intelligence operations in foreign countries is a well-known practice, and one more aggressively addressed by affected nations in recent months. In March, the United States expelled dozens of Russian diplomats and ordered the closing of a Russian consulate in Seattle. Special Counsel Robert Mueller secured indictments in July for twelve Russian agents relating to hacking and influencing the 2016 U.S. elections. The United Kingdom expelled 23 operatives. A dozen other EU states followed suit.

Andrew McCabe Launched Obstruction Probe into Trump Before Mueller Appointment
[Breitbart] FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe reportedly launched an obstruction of justice investigation into President Donald Trump prior to the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller.
CNN reported Thursday evening that in the days following Comey’s ouster in May 2017, McCabe, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and other leading FBI officials met to discuss how to curb the president from future actions they thought would add to the turmoil at the FBI.

Among the options discussed was Rosenstein donning a wire during meetings with President Trump in an attempt to capture what he believed was manic behavior demonstrated by the president that could potentially be used to convince cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment. Rosenstein has vehemently denied the proposition was a serious one and, after several meetings with the president, the Justice Department’s number two official appears to be safe in his position.

US net oil exporter for 1st time in 75 years
[Detroit News] America turned into a net oil exporter last week, breaking 75 years of continued dependence on foreign oil and marking a pivotal — even if likely brief —moment toward what U.S. President Donald Trump has branded as “energy independence.”

The shift to net exports is the dramatic result of an unprecedented boom in American oil production, with thousands of wells pumping from the Permian region of Texas and New Mexico to the Bakken in North Dakota to the Marcellus in Pennsylvania. U.S. crude shipments reached a record 3.2 million barrels last week, government data show.

The shale revolution has transformed oil wildcatters into billionaires and the U.S. into the world’s largest petroleum producer, surpassing Russia and Saudi Arabia. The power of OPEC has been diminished, undercutting one of the major geopolitical forces of the last half century.

Shin Bet busts cell behind attempt to smuggle phones into prison with drone
[IsraelTimes] Security agency says cellphones confiscated during failed effort in October were meant for prisoners serving time for terror involvement.

The Shin Bet security agency announced Thursday it has tossed in the slammer
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
a number of Arab Israelis and Paleostinians from the West Bank who tried to smuggle cellphones to security prisoners using a drone.

The arrests were made throughout November, according to the Shin Bet, who said some of the suspects were involved in other attempts between 2016-2018 to smuggle phones to security prisoners in exchange for money from terror groups.

"The smuggling was directed from the prison by terrorist elements known to the security forces," the security agency said in a statement.

The Shin Bet said a number of the suspects were also behind a failed attempt
Curses! Foiled again!
in October to smuggle dozens of phones into Nafha Prison in southern Israel using a drone.

The suspects underwent training to learn how to operate the drone and were in contact with prisoners regarding where the airborne device would drop off the package carrying 60 phones, according to the Shin Bet.

"The phones that were captured were meant for security prisoners from terror organizations serving long prison sentences for their involvement in attacks and promoting terror activity," the security agency said.

It also said security prisoners were engaged in efforts to direct terror attacks from behind prison walls, such as kidnappings that could be leveraged into a prisoner swap, and therefore the "smuggling of telephones of this kind puts a tool in the hands of these same terror operatives."

Prosecutors from the Central District filed an indictment against the suspects. The Shin Bet did not say what charges they were indicted on.

"The General Security Service, in close cooperation with the Israel Police and Israel Prisons Service, will continue to closely track elements that help terror organizations in prison or outside it and will take the necessary measures to prevent and thwart activity that harms the security of the state," the Shin Bet said, using its official name.

The announcement by the security agency comes a week after Border Police announced the arrest of a Paleostinian teenager who tried to smuggle phones and cellular equipment into a military prison in the West Bank inside of his body.

The arrests follow a number of other foiled attempts to smuggle cellphones into prisons in recent years.

Caribbean-Latin America
Protests follow court backing for Morales' fourth-term bid
[PULSE.NG] Thousands of people took part in protest marches across Bolivia on Thursday amid a general strike called by opponents of President Evo Morales' bid for a fourth term.

Groups of activists blocked streets in the capital La Paz and other main cities, many waving Bolivian flags and waving banners saying "Bolivia said No" -- a reference to a 2016 referendum ignored by Morales.

Interior Minister Carols Romero played down the blockades and said the country was working "as normal".

Banking and other businesses remained opened in defiance of the general strike call, despite widespread disruption of public transport.

The government said 5,000 people took part in the protests.

"The results are far from what the organizers were looking for, " said Alfredo Rada, minister with responsibility for the presidency.

The protests follow the decision Tuesday by Bolivia's Supreme Electoral Court to give a green light for Morales -- in power since 2003 -- to seek a fourth term.
Electoral Court decision

The ruling party last year dismissed the result of the 2016 referendum that denied Morales the possibility of seeking a fourth term as president.

Morales argued that it is his human right to seek reelection.

His main opponent in the October 2019 elections, ex-president Carlos Mesa, called on the opposition to wage "a democratic battle" against the court decision.

The influential Catholic Church hit out at the court ruling, saying it "called into doubt the basis of democracy" in Bolivia, and "left Bolivians with an uncertain future."

The biggest protests came in the eastern province of Santa Cruz, whose governor Ruben Costas heads opposition to Morales.

Three separate marches that set off earlier this week from outlying provinces were expected to converge in the capital La Paz later Thursday.

La Paz mayor Luis Revilla, an opponent of Morales, a supporter of Mesa, said "what remains now is to resist this decision, is to turn to street protests, to prevent this decision being realized."

Woman clubs boyfriend, sits on his face for refusing oral sex
[NYPOST] A "very violent" mohawked Missouri woman clobbered her live-in lover as she demanded he perform oral sex on her, the victim and authorities said.

Amy Nicole Parrino, 43, was busted on charges of domestic assault and sexual abuse for the Sunday night incident that occurred at Parrino and the man’s Boone County home, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by The Smoking Gun.

During the 9:45 p.m. attack, Parrino allegedly punched the man up to 25 times and struck him with a belt, cellphone and brass plate, according to the court filing.

Then a naked Parrino chased the man around the house as he pleaded for her to "leave him alone."

But Parrino did not relent, as she "pushed him to the ground and then sat on his face," the victim told police, according to the affidavit.

The victim told Sherlocks that while Parrino "was sitting on his face she said to him ’eat my p‐-y,’" the court document states.

For a "few seconds" during the encounter, the man said, he could not breathe and that he was "scared to death," according to the affidavit.

The victim later told police that the whole incident made him "sick" to his stomach and that he did not want to do anything sexual with Parrino.

As a result of the incident, the man suffered an up to 4-inch-long cut on both his right arm and his left arm. He also suffered a cut on the bridge of his nose, which the man told authorities "was from when Parrino sat on his face."

The man was also left with red marks on his chest where he said he was hit with the belt.

According to the victim, "violence" between him and Parrino "has been getting worse and more frequent," the document says.

He told police he "don’t know what she’s going to do next" and that he "fears for his safety all the time."

The man added that Parrino will get "very violent, very quickly."

Parrino was locked up in lieu of $25,000 cash bail, the outlet said.

Parrino wears a ring in her left nostril and a facial piercing near her eye, as well as a black "Buccaneers" jersey in her mug shot.

She was hit with an additional charge for allegedly smearing fecal matter on the walls of a jail cell and breaking a jailhouse phone, according to the website.

A judge ordered Parrino to have no contact with the victim and she has been barred from the man’s residence, according to the site.

Patient dies after coughing up part of his lung during heart failure treatment
[NYPOST] A man who went into the hospital with heart problems ended up literally coughing up a lung.

The 36-year-old was admitted to University of Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, the Socialist paradise of San Francisco
...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964...
Medical Center with heart failure.

The patient had a pacemaker fitted due to a history of poor cardiovascular health, according to the New England Journal of Medicine.

During his first week of treatment, he began coughing violently, according to reports. And in the midst of one coughing fit he hawked up a bronchial tree ‐ a series of tubes that distribute air to the lungs.

The unnamed patient died a week later.

The journal says he had a rare ejection fraction deficiency ‐ a term for how much blood is pumped with each contraction.

His was around 50 percent less than the normal rate.

During the week, he had been coughing up blood and mucus, increasing the strain on his lungs.

Doctors were treating him with oxygen tanks.

You can’t actually cough up a whole human lung, which is too large to fit through the trachea.

But it is possible to cough so violently that parts of the organ pop through spaces between ribs, or to cough up parts.

After the patient coughed up the bronchial tree, he was immediately intubated and doctors performed a bronchoscopy.

The patient later died from heart failure complications.

David Earl Miller fails to survive 'Old Sparky'
[FoxNews] NASHVILLE, Tenn. ‐ The Latest on an execution in Tennessee (all times local):

7:35 p.m.

Tennessee has executed its longest-serving death row inmate, who became the second person to be killed in the state's electric chair in just over a month.

Corrections officials say 61-year-old David Earl Miller was pronounced dead at 7:25 p.m. Thursday at a Nashville maximum-security prison.

Miller was sentenced to death for the 1981 murder of a mentally handicapped Knoxville woman. He had been on death row for 36 years.

Miller chose to die in the electric chair after he failed to convince the courts that Tennessee's midazolam-based lethal injection method causes a prolonged and torturous death.

Just over a month earlier, inmate Edmund Zagorski also chose the electric chair for his execution Nov. 1. Before Zagorski's death, there had been only one other electrocution since 1960.

PM’s aide unearths another scam involving Nawaz
[DAWN] The government claims to have unearthed another scam of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif

relating to his private visits abroad at the government’s expense, causing losses running into millions of rupees to the national exchequer.

"Nawaz Sharif has made 25 private foreign trips during his rule from 2013 to 2018 on taxpayers’ money of Rs250 million," the prime minister’s adviser on accountability, Shahzad Akbar, said at a presser on Thursday.

Mr Akbar, who is also head of the Assets Recovery Unit (ARU), said that of these 25 foreign trips, some were made to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. to perform Umrah along with family members and friends. "Although Mr Sharif is a rich man, even then he performed Umrah on taxpayers’ money," he said.

The adviser also gave details of misuse of official aircraft for private tours by Mr Sharif, saying his one Umrah trip cost Rs35m. Responding to a question, he said the ARU had completed its investigation into the private foreign visits of the former premier and referred it to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as a fresh case of misuse of authority.

"Some other cases of misuse of authority are already being investigated against Nawaz Sharif and it will be the fresh one and will be dealt with separately by NAB," he added.

Putin threatens to develop nuclear missiles

...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
on Wednesday threatened to develop nuclear missiles banned under a treaty with the United States after Washington gave Moscow a deadline to comply with the key arms control agreement.

The latest spike in tensions came a day after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Washington would withdraw from a major Cold War treaty limiting mid-range nuclear arms within 60 days if Russia does not dismantle missiles that the US claims breach the deal.

Putin dismissed Pompeo’s statement as a smokescreen, saying Washington had already decided to ditch the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces treaty (INF).

"They thought we would not notice," the Kremlin chief said, claiming the Pentagon has already earmarked an amount for the development of missiles banned by the treaty. "We are against the destruction of this treaty. But if this happens, we will react accordingly."

Putin said about a dozen countries were now producing mid-range missiles of the type banned by the INF treaty.

"Apparently now American partners believe the situation has changed so much that the United States should also have such weapons. "What will be our answer? A simple one: we will also do this," Putin said.

In Brussels, EU diplomatic chief Federica Mogherini urged Russia and the US to save the treaty, warning that Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
did not want to become a battlefield for global powers once again, as it had been during the Cold War.

Signed in 1987 by then US president Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev, the last Soviet leader, the INF resolved a crisis over Soviet nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles targeting Western capitals.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran will punish terrorists, their masters
[PRESSTV] Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has condemned a fatal terror attack that targeted Iran's strategic port city of Chabahar, vowing that the Islamic Theocratic Republic will bring the perpetrators and "their masters" to justice.

The top Iranian diplomat took to his Twitter page on Thursday to react to the car kaboom, which he said was perpetrated by "foreign-backed terrorists."
"We support our own terrorists, others are bad"
Earlier in the day, a vehicle laden with explosives went off close to a police headquarters in Chabahar, situated in the southeastern province of Sistan-and-Baluchestan.

The terrorist behind the wheel was seeking to force his way into the police post, but failed to do so as local security forces quickly intervened.

At least two coppers bit the dust and some 40 other people sustained injuries in the kaboom, which also killed the bomber.

The so-called Ansar al-Furqan terrorist group later grabbed credit for the assault.

"As we've made clear in the past, such crimes won’t go unpunished: In 2010, our security services intercepted & captured snuffies en route from UAE," Zarif wrote in the tweet.

He was apparently referring to a highly successful operation by Iranian intelligence services, which led to the capture in 2010 of Abdolmalek Rigi, the ringleader of the so-called Jundullah terror group. The bad boy outfit under Rigi was dismantled and he was executed later that year.

That operation followed a 2009 terror attack by bad boy forces of Evil that claimed over 40 lives in Sistan-and-Baluchestan Province.

"Mark my words: Iran WILL bring forces of Evil & their masters to justice," the foreign minister emphasized.

Sistan-and-Baluchestan -- which borders Pakistain -- has suffered several terror attacks targeting both civilians and security forces over the past years.

Iranian forces, from time to time, bust terrorist ringlets in the province, foiling their planned attacks and confiscating weapons and ammunition in the course of such security operations.

Rahmdel Bameri, caretaker of the Governor's Office in Chabahar County, underlined the strategic significance of the city as a free trade zone, which has a deep-water port on the Sea of Oman.

Chabahar is also the site of a port complex, which is being developed in cooperation with India as part of a new transportation corridor for landlocked Afghanistan.

Bameri added that such attacks are meant to "destabilize Chabahar, Iran's largest oceanic port, and disrupt the peaceful and friendly climate in there."

Saudi-backed forces suffer heavy casualties in disastrous offensive in northern Yemen
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Saudi-backed forces launched a new offensive inside the eastern countryside of Sanaa on Thursday, targeting the Houthis positions near the Mareb Governorate axis.

According to the official media wing of the Houthis Movement, their troops confronted a large Saudi-backed force that was attempting to capture the strategic Nihm District.

The Houthis official media wing said their troops were able to fully repel the Saudi-backed attack on their positions, forcing the latter to retreat back towards the Mareb Governorate.

They added that their troops managed to kill scores of Saudi-backed fighters, including a number of field commanders loyal to the exiled President Abd Rubbah Mansour Hadi.

This latest attack by the Saudi-backed forces in the Nihm District marks the third time in the last two weeks that they have launched an offensive in this part of the Sanaa Governorate.

Suicide bomber kills 2 in southeast Iran: revised toll
[PULSE.NG] A jacket wallah killed at least two people and maimed many more outside police headquarters in the port city of Chabahar in restive southeastern Iran on Thursday, according to a revised official toll.

Chabahar lies in Sistan-Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
province which has long been a flashpoint, with Pakistain-based Baluchi separatists and Sunni Moslem turbans carrying out cross-border attacks targeting the Shiite authorities.

"This terrorist act led to the martyrdom of two members of the police force," the province's deputy governor in charge of security, Mohammad Hadi Marashi, told state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
.

Chabahar city governor Rahmdel Bameri said earlier that four people were killed and many more maimed when the bomber blew up a car, but later revised the corpse count to two.

"The kaboom was very strong and broke the glass of many buildings close by," Bameri told state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
.

Many nearby shop owners and civilian passers-by, including women and kiddies, were severely maimed, he added.

Map of Iran locating kaboom in Chabahar. (AFP)

Chabahar lies some 100 kilometres (60 miles) west of the Pakistain border and is home to a large, mainly Sunni Moslem ethnic Baluchi community which straddles the two countries.

The number of assailants was not immediately clear.

"The forces of Evil tried to enter Chabahar police headquarters but they were prevented by the guards and they detonated the boom-mobile," Marashi said without elaborating on how many assailants took part.

Chabahar has a deep-water port on the Gulf of Oman and with Indian assistance Iran has been developing it as a major energy and freight hub between Central Asia and India, bypassing Pakistain.

Hot Time in the Old Town Tonite
[Thrillist] Meet dragon's breath. Its creator expects it to be crowned the world's hottest pepper. That's far hotter than the revered Carolina reaper, which is the current Guinness World Record-holder for hottest chili pepper. In fact, dragon's breath is so intense it could kill you, according to its St. Asaph-based developer Mike Smith. He says dragon's breath clocks in with a Scoville rating of 2.48 million. That's almost one million units higher than a Carolina reaper, which has an average of 1.57 million. (Tabasco sauce rates between 2,500 and 5,000 on the Scoville Scale.)
I grow Reapers. I want some of these!
The Carolina reaper was already so spicy it reduced mortals to tears. Don't believe it? Ask this person or this couple or these people or these guys or these girls who looked like they were going to die. If dragon's breath truly has a Scoville rating of 2.48 million, it's basically not food. Aside from some idiot on YouTube who is definitely going to try it, there's really no reason to put this in your body.
Not the whole thing, just a little bit.
However, calling it useless would be hyperbolic. The chili pepper wasn't developed to be eaten in some kind of sadistic horticultural prank. Dragon's breath was "born out of a trial of new plant food developed by Nottingham Trent University which aims to increase the quality and resistance of plants," according to the BBC. Smith says the intended usage will, in fact, be medical. Oils from the tiny pepper are so potent it can be used as an anesthetic.
There is a use for almost everything.
"This was developed because a lot of people are allergic to anesthetic, and this can be applied to the skin because it is so strong it numbs it," Smith told the Daily Post. He also notes it could be a cheap alternative to expensive anesthetics in developing countries.

No one has attempted to swallow the pepper yet, but someone took a bite without swallowing. Their mouth went numb for two days according to Smith. With a Scoville rating this high, it could cause a seriously upset stomach and make an alarming exit from your body. Though, Smith alleges the effects could be even worse than that. "We have had a caution from the University," Smith said. "It could cause anaphylactic shock in some people."

Smith is currently awaiting confirmation from Guinness that he's officially overtaken the reaper, according to the BBC.

Senior adviser to Sen. Kamala Harris resigns after report of $400,000 sexual harassment settlement
[AOL] A top aide to Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., resigned on Wednesday after a report surfaced of a $400,000 sexual harassment settlement resulting from his time working for Harris at the California Department of Justice in 2016.

Harris' office said in a statement to NBC News that it was unaware of the settlement.

Larry Wallace, a senior adviser to Harris, stepped down after The Sacramento Bee reported about the settlement on Wednesday.

The alleged incident occurred in 2016 when Wallace was working as the director of law enforcement under Harris, who was serving as the California attorney general at the time, the paper reporter.

Lily Adams, a spokeswoman for Harris, confirmed the resignation in a statement to NBC News on Thursday.

"We were unaware of this issue and take accusations of harassment extremely seriously. This evening (Wednesday), Mr. Wallace offered his resignation to the senator and she accepted it," Adams said.
"Unaware"? That's total bullshit
Harris, who is currently considering a 2020 presidential run, has been an outspoken advocate against sexual harassment during the #MeToo movement. She was among a group of Democratic women lawmakers who called for the resignation of Sen. Al Franken of Minnesota in December 2017 after he was accused of sexual misconduct.

Harris tweeted at the time, "Sexual harassment and misconduct should not be allowed by anyone and should not occur anywhere." She also introduced a bill this past June to curb workplace harassment.

Wallace's settlement took place in May 2017, after Harris had been sworn-in as senator and he had been hired as a senior adviser, based in Sacramento.

A lawsuit filed on Dec. 30, 2016, when Harris was transitioning from attorney general to senator, alleged that Wallace placed a printer on the floor underneath his desk and ordered his assistant, Danielle Hartley, to crawl under his desk to replace the paper or ink on a daily basis, the Sacramento Bee reported.

’s (ISIS/ISIS/IS/ISIS) reign over the town of Hajin is nearing its end as the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continue to advance through the terrorist group’s defenses.

Backed by heavy Arclight airstrikes from the U.S.-led Coalition, the Syrian Democratic Forces are currently advancing from the Hawamah District in northern part of Hajin towards the town-center.

Video footage from Hajin shows the Syrian Democratic Forces positioned near the Hawamah Mosque, which is a site ISIS claimed the former had not captured:
Battle for Hajin reaches critical stages as heavy casualties mount for all sides

Despite the progress, these advances have proven costly for the Syrian Democratic Forces, as they have suffered dozens of casualties trying to fracture ISIS’s lines inside of Hajin.

At the same time, ISIS themselves have suffered heavy casualties inside of Hajin, which could prove to be the deciding factor later in the battle as their manpower numbers continue to sink.

Venezuelan military eyes modernized Russian weapons
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Venezuelan Armed Forces are interested in the modernization of ground and air systems previously supplied by Russia, Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez said during talks his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu in Moscow on Thursday.

"Yesterday, when our presidents had talks, many issues in the military area had emerged, particularly those related to stepping up cooperation in the maintenance of the equipment supplied from Russia to our country. These are land-based and air systems. And we came to the conclusion that we need to modernize and upgrade the existing systems," he stated.

The Venezuelan defense chief noted that he came to Russia as part of the delegation led by President Nicolas Maduro, while the meeting with his Russian counterpart was not initially planned.

"Our meeting was not scheduled, but the questions arose during negotiations between our presidents," he added, pointing out that relations between both countries "need to be beefed up to become more efficient."

Shoigu in turn said that he hopes that the practice of flights by Russian combat aircraft to airdromes in Venezuela will go on and Russian naval ships will continue to pull into that country’s ports.

"Our cooperation proceeds in a good fashion. There have been regular exchanges of specialists and delegations. Good work is underway in training and in granting our aircraft an opportunity to make landings in Venezuela and our ships, to be serviced in Venezuela’s ports. I believe that we will go ahead with this practice. The more so, since it is to the benefit of Venezuela and Russia," he emphasized.

FBI email chain may provide most damning evidence of FISA abuses yet
[The Hill, ht AOSHQ] Just before Thanksgiving, House Republicans amended the list of documents they’d like President Trump to declassify in the Russia investigation. With little fanfare or explanation, the lawmakers, led by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), added a string of emails between the FBI and the Department of Justice (DOJ) to their wish list.

Sources tell me the targeted documents may provide the most damning evidence to date of potential abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), evidence that has been kept from the majority of members of Congress for more than two years.

The email exchanges included then-FBI Director James Comey, key FBI investigators in the Russia probe and lawyers in the DOJ’s national security division, and they occurred in early to mid-October, before the FBI successfully secured a FISA warrant to spy on Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

#2  Most intelligence officials, such as former CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, have embraced the concerns laid out in the Steele dossier of possible ‐ but still unproven ‐ collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

"Possible ‐ but still unproven"...referred to in the intelligence community as unverified information not intelligence. Before information can become 'intelligence' it must be verified (usually by multiple sources) and classified as either reliable or unreliable.

If months and years after the 'information' (Steele dossier) surfaces and is investigated and analyzed, no reliability can be established, the 'information' should be classified as unreliable and discarded.

'Reliable intelligence' is an indicator, it is still not a fact. For example; 'reliable intelligence' may point to Saddam as having had a nuclear capability. Facts my eventually prove otherwise.

Clapper and Brennan are operating in the realm of politics, not intelligence.

Koreas to verify removal of border guard posts next week
[DAWN] The two Koreas will exchange inspection teams across their heavily armed border next week to verify each other's works to remove some of their front-line guard posts, Seoul's Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

In the past weeks, North and South Korea each have dismantled or disarmed 11 of their border guard posts as part of agreements to reduce tensions that were reached during their leaders' summit in Pyongyang in September.

Vice Defense Minister Suh Choo-suk told news hounds that the two Koreas agreed to conduct one-day mutual verification on the sites of the guard posts next Wednesday. He said the Koreas will each send 11 military inspection teams to the other's 11 sites.

Suh said the mutual verification is proof of trust established between the two militaries.

The dismantled or disarmed guard posts were located inside the 248-kilometre-long Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), the strip of land that bisects the Korean Peninsula. Unlike its name, it's the world's most heavily fortified border strewn with an estimated two million land mines and has been the scene of numerous cases of violence and bloodshed.

Under the September agreements, the Koreas have also taken steps to demilitarise the shared border village of Panmunjom inside the DMZ, halted live-fire drills along the border and have been removing mines to conduct joint searches for Korean War dead.

Israeli forces shoot, injure 5 Palestinian minors in occupied West Bank
[PRESSTV] At least five Paleostinian teenage boys have been injured after Israeli military forces carried out raids across the occupied West Bank over the past 24 hours and engaged in festivities with local residents in a number of villages and towns.

Local sources, requesting not to be named, told Paleostine’s official WAFA news agency that Israeli military vehicles rolled into the Jenin refugee camp early on Thursday, breaking into several Paleostinian homes and violently ransacking them.

The raid promoted violent skirmishes with residents of the camp. Israeli soldiers responded with live bullets to disperse the protesting crowd, injuring three teenagers in the process.

The trio were rushed to Khalil Suleiman Hospital in Jenin city, where doctors and medical staff described their condition as moderate.

Two Paleostinian minors were also shot and injured with Israeli live bullets on Wednesday evening as they were on their way home from school in Jaba’ town in the central West Bank.

The two injured Paleostinian teenagers, aged 14 and 15 years old, were immediately transferred to Ramallah Hospital to receive necessary medical treatment.

Canada hosts anti-Daesh coalition meeting
[AA.TR] Thirteen countries from an international coalition to defeat ISIS met Thursday to declare they have taken back more than 99 percent of the territory once held by the terrorist group in Iraq and Syria.

Secretary of Defense James Mattis and his Canadian counterpart, Harjit Sajjan, who co-hosted the meeting in Ottawa, issued a joint statement after the meeting.

"We will continue to adapt and strengthen our global network to counter ISIS's own network of foreign terrorist fighters, financing and propaganda," the statement said, referring to ISIS by an alternative name.

The coalition was created in 2014 when the U.S. announced a group to defeat the ISIS terrorist organization. It has grown to include 79 countries.

The two officials said they reaffirmed their focus on defeating the group, and said they will leverage military, intelligence, diplomacy and economics to ensure their success.

Last year, officials from Iraq, which is a part of the coalition, declared ISIS's military presence in the country had been neutralized following a three-year conflict.

Nevertheless, Iraqi forces continue to carry out frequent operations to decisively end the group’s lingering presence.

"We are confident that we will prevail," the statement added. "We stand with people across the world who seek a better and safer future."

Pakistan army wants US to leave Afghanistan
[PRESSTV] Pakistain's military says it wants the US to pull out its troops from the neighboring Afghanistan in order to end a 17-year-old war there.

"We wish that (the) US leaves Afghanistan as friend of the region, not as a failure," Pakistain army front man Major-General Asif Ghafoor said during a news conference in the garrison city of Rawalpindi Thursday.

He also said Islamabad supports Washington's outreach to the Taliban

Asked what Pakistain could do to help the United States negotiate a political settlement with the Taliban, Ghafoor said, "As much as we can, we will facilitate."

"What the US is expecting from us, and the foreign office is cooperating with, is that somehow they could have these negotiations with them (Taliban)," he added.

The comments came just after US special representative for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad concluded a visit to the Pak capital.

LHC rejects petition to stay the execution of condemned 'schizophrenic patient'
[DAWN] The Lahore High Court on Thursday rejected a mother's petition for staying the execution of her "schizophrenic" son Khizar Hayat, noting that the condemned was "convicted by the country's biggest court".

Hayat, a former police constable, was convicted in October 2001 for killing a fellow policeman, while a trial court had handed him a death sentence two years later.

The death row inmate's mother had moved the court, requesting it to delay the death sentence and admit him to a hospital for treatment.

During the hearing today, a two-member LHC bench comprising Justice Qazi Amin and Justice Chaudhry Mushtaq asked the petitioner's counsel to prove that Hayat was ill and also apprise the court under which law a schizophrenic prisoner could not be executed.

Justice Project Pakistain (JPP), a law firm working for prisoners’ rights, argued the case on behalf of Hayat's mother, Iqbal Bano.

JPP Director Barrister Sarah Belal said that Khizar Hayat’s mental illness was well-documented and the jail’s own records showed that he suffered from "severe psychosis".

The counsel argued that a "mental patient" cannot be executed but the court rejected the argument, remarking that "the execution of patients is a global debate."

The petitioner reminded the court that in 2008 the jail authorities had diagnosed the then 41-year-old Hayat with paranoid schizophrenia. It prayed that the inmate can still be executed once he has recovered from his illness.

The Russian IL-20 spy planes were reportedly monitoring closely the jihadist movements inside the al-Ghaab Plain and the Jisr al-Shughour District.

No details were released regarding the casualties both sides suffered during the firefight.

The YPG has recently launched several attacks against the Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels in the Afrin region; this has resulted in dozens of casualties for the latter.

As a result of these attacks by the YPG, the Free Syrian Army has imposed a curfew throughout the Afrin region in a bid to crackdown on these sleeper cells.
