Violence and Protesters Derail Trump Rallies
h/t Instapundit
Two rallies on behalf of Republican front-runner Donald Trump were derailed on Friday evening, after violence broke out in St. Louis, Missouri, and protesters took over a would-be rally in Chicago, Illinois. Ted Cruz hit The Donald on such violence, saying his campaign bears some responsibility for encouraging it.

So, was it RINO's or ShilliaryDems that co-ordinated this? Either way, the only answer they have to the Donald.

#2  The Ghost of Bull Connor is deep in the opposition. Can't allow 'them' to have a free and peaceful right to assemble and have free speech. Their hate is deep and Freudian Projection.

Dear Ted, if you really believe in the Constitution, those First Amendment rights apply all around. Watching the going on's at that Selma bridge and saying the peaceful demonstrators 'bear responsibility for encouraging it' doesn't wash.

#7  Hitler and Mussolini used to disrupt their political’ opponents’ meetings and speeches, Hitler’s gangs with truncheons, Mussolini’s with castor oil which they forcibly fed to opposition leaders. These tactics had been honed by the Reds before the Revolution, and were exported for use by the Communists in various parts of Europe. To the best of my knowledge there have been no such operations by Trump’s followers, but apparently there are increasing numbers of protests at his meetings. While there have always been some roughhousing and scuffles in American politics, raiding each other’s gatherings has not been traditional, with some exceptions. More usual is getting yourself thrown out of someone else’s meetings, thus getting the publicity rather than the speaker. I expect to see a lot of that in the next few weeks, and a great deal more after the conventions.

And, of course, once Trump supporters retaliate---FBI, DHS, etc... will swing into action

#8  Were going to see more and more of this. MoveOn, BLM, Occupy, etc... are all organizations of the DNC. Soros may be bankrolling it but you can bet the DNC is providing the direction and organizational support. and the DNC keeps moving more and more radically left. They don't even try very hard to hide it anymore.

You wont see BLM vs the Teamsters - just as you wouldn't see the KKK vs the Black Panthers nearly as often as you might expect. They are simply different arms of the same organization. Carefully kept somewhat seperate so they can concentrate on their real enemy.

#9  This is just bad for both sides. Trump invites it with his inflammatory rhetoric, but BLM and other left wing grievance mongers play right into it.

This is a dumpster fire, and as Trump gets closer to the nomination, its only going to get worse.

Wait until Hillary gets indicted and it become Bernie's Socialists running on the D side. Obama's mentor Ayers the Terrorist will be queuing them up.

There goes free speech. Goons on one side beat up Goons on the other side, and sooner or later nobody can speak.

#10  Trump invites it with his inflammatory rhetoric

You mean like secure borders, Islam is not a friend of the West, the Chinese have manipulated the currency and trade market? Remember, acknowledging the concerns of the general population rather than the ruling caste is inflammatory. The minions might get excited and not remember their proper place.

#13  I don't like Trump. As far as I can tell he doesn't really stand for anything and I doubt he knows how to spell political philosophy.

HOWEVER, there comes a time when someone has to throw a hornets nest into the Hampton tea party and I think this is what he's doing.
I hoped Ted would do it first but, his last week or two have me worried.

I doubt that Trump, if elected, will be any worse than the Demonrats or Rinos and possibly a lot better. I'm holding out hope that Cruz wins and proves to be what he started out being. but who knows now.

#23  Ah, well, I remember heckling Hubert Humphrey when he campaigned for president in San Diego back in 1968. He never would have made it to the general election if Bobby Kennedy hadn't been shot in June of '68 in LA and then he went down to defeat at the hands of Richard Nixon. Old Hubie, of course, was tainted by his association with Lyndon Johnson and the Vietnam War. The way I saw it, that mess had been going on way too long by then and I had no desire to participate. Apart from that, I took a rather dim view of the Great Society. Guns and butter, surtaxes and deficit spending...even in high school that didn't seem right. Hubie spoke at a rally outside the downtown Community Concourse and I stood with some pals at the fringe of a crowd that was gathered to hear him. I made a few snide remarks, might have even booed him, but threw no punches. Nobody paid me or organized me. I just didn't like the guy and Nixon promised peace. Fun times...not.

#25  In 1944, Humphrey was one of the key players in the merger of the Democratic and Farmer-Labor parties of Minnesota to form the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL). The same year, he worked on incumbent President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's reelection campaign in the 1944 presidential election. When in 1945, Minnesota Communists tried to seize control of the new party, Humphrey became an engaged anti-Communist and led the successful fight to oust the Communists from the DFL. - wiki

Algeria Army Recovers Stinger Missiles from Slain Jihadists
[AnNahar] Algerian troops recovered six Stinger shoulder-fired ground-to-air missiles in an operation near the Tunisian border in which three suspected jihadists were killed, the defense ministry said on Friday.

The missiles, made famous by their use by the mujahedeen against Soviet troops in Afghanistan in the 1980s and Washington's subsequent multi-million dollar program to buy them back to stop them falling into the hands of Al-Qaeda, were seized along with an array of other weaponry.

They included suicide belts, rocket-propelled grenades and 20 Kalashnikov assault rifles, the ministry said.

The operation took place in the Guemar district of El Oued province, around 600 kilometers (375 miles) southeast of Algiers, on Thursday evening.

Algeria suffered a civil war in the 1990s between the government and Islamists that killed 200,000 people.

Despite adopting a peace and reconciliation charter in 2005 aimed at turning the page on the conflict, gangs remain active in the center and east of the country.

Ukrainian forces continue pushing to take Yasinovataya using artillery and small arms fire. Meanwhile elsewhere along the line of contact, Ukrainian forces and rebel forces continue to exchange artillery and small arms fire according to Russian language news accounts.

Ukrainian military officials said on Friday rebel forces fired on Ukrainian positions all along the line of contact in both Lugansk and Donetsk on Friday, a total of 31 times. Rebel forces used tank gunfire, mortar fire and small arms fire.

Rebels fired on Ukrainian forces 47 times on Thursday, according to a news account in regnum.ru.

According to a news account posted on the tsensir.net.ua websites, Ukrainians reported shelling by 82mm and 120mm mortars and small arms fire in Krasnogorovka, Avdeevka, Opytnoye and Marinka near western Donetsk city. Gunfire from tanks and BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles were recorded in Avdievka.

A separate tsensor.net.ua report reported one Ukrainian soldier dead and one wounded near Gorlovka, where the fighting for Yasinovataya was reported. The two were hit by gunfire from a rebel BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle.

Rebel military officials in Donetsk say that combat losses for the Ukrainian offensive around Yasinovataya have been heavy with 30 reported dead and more than 70 wounded since Monday.

Rebel officials also confirmed that seven of their effectives have been killed in recent fighting in Donetsk.

Fighting near Gorlovka

Overnight artillery shelling by Ukrainian forces hit targets in Zaiystevo, which if north of Gorlovka, damaging 20 residences, according to a news account in Gorlovka Pravda. The report notes rebel positions were struck with mortar, RPG and small arms fire emanating from Zhovanke.

Ukrainian militay officials say that their forces came under fire from snipers, grenade launchers and heavy machine guns.

Russian military analysts have said that Zaiystevo is almost completely surrounded by Ukrainian forces.

Southeast Asia
Indonesia Adamant Terror Mastermind Won't Return from Guantanamo
[AnNahar] Indonesia does not want one of the country's most notorious terrorists, Hambali, returned home should the United States close the controversial Guantanamo Bay detention center, a senior minister said Friday.

Riduan Isamuddin was captured in Thailand in 2003 and spent the next three years being flown between secret prisons until his transfer to Guantanamo, where he has been held without charge ever since.

At the time of his capture Isamuddin, better known as Hambali, was believed to be al-Qaeda's top representative in Southeast Asia and operational chief of regional hard boy group Jemaah Islamiyah.

He was accused of criminal masterminding the 2002 Bali bombings that left 202 people dead, and plotting other attacks on U.S. airliners and foreigners.

Hambali is one of 91 inmates still detained in the military prison, set up after the September 11, 2001 attacks to deal with prisoners deemed "enemy combatants", and denied many U.S. legal rights.

A roadmap to closing Guantanamo unveiled by President B.O. last month prompted speculation in Indonesia that Hambali could be repatriated, but Jakarta has made it clear it does want anything to do with the alleged terror kingpin.

"It's very clear that we do not want to add any more problems in our country," security minister Luhut Panjaitan told news hounds when asked about Hambali.

A sustained crackdown in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim-majority country, weakened many of the most dangerous Lion of Islam networks responsible for a string of deadly homegrown attacks during the 2000s.

But an attack in Jakarta earlier this year claimed by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group sparked fears of a resurgence in militancy, and shone the spotlight on the country's weak laws and lax jails where prominent Lions of Islam have been recruiting behind bars.

Panjaitan said an urgent revision of Indonesia's anti-terror laws was needed as authorities were currently powerless to stop would-be bully boyz heading abroad to fight with Lion of Islam groups.

The government has submitted to parliament new draft measures to bolster Indonesia's fight against extremism, including broader powers to detain suspects

"This new terrorism law stipulates the state is authorized to revoke their citizenship if they join imported muscle," he said.

US official: Iran responsible for cyberattack at NY dam in 2013
[IsraelTimes] Indictment expected in hacking of dam used for flood control about 20 miles north of New York City
The mills of Justice grinding slowly... Does this kind of thing count as an act of war?
A probe by the Justice Department has determined that Iran was responsible for a 2013 cyber attack on a dam in the suburbs outside of New York City, and an indictment is expected soon, a US official told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named Thursday.

The official, who was briefed on the investigation, spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to speak publicly about the ongoing criminal investigation.

In 2013, hackers accessed the control system at the Bowman Avenue Dam, a small structure in Rye Brook, about 20 miles north of New York City, that’s used for flood control.

The intrusion allowed the hackers to probe the system, prompting a federal investigation.

The official told the AP that Sherlocks have determined Iran was responsible for the cyberattack and that an indictment is expected to be handed down in the case from the US attorney’s office in Manhattan. It wasn’t clear whether the indictment would charge specific people within the Iranian government or publicly name Iran as being behind the attack. A formal announcement was expected to be made as soon as mid-April, the official said.

Officials in Rye said in December that they had been alerted by the US Department of Homeland Security about unauthorized access to the city’s computer system.

At a news briefing Thursday, State Department front man Mark Toner declined to specifically comment on the prospects that Iran would be charged in the cyberattack, but said: "I would say broadly that we obviously take all, seriously all such malicious activity in cyberspace. We’re going to continue to use all the tools at our disposal to deter, detect, counter and mitigate that kind of activity."

Caitlyn Jenner: The ‘Country Is Over’ If Hillary Clinton Is Elected President
[GOSSIPCOP] Caitlyn Jenner goes on a tirade against Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as For a good time at 3 a.m. call Hillary and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Edward Stettinius, Jr. ...
on this Sunday’s episode of "I Am Cait," insisting that the Democratic presidential candidate is a "f***ing liar" and the "country is over," if she’s elected. Watch the video below!

As Gossip Cop reported, Season 2 of Jenner’s reality show sees her embarking on a bus tour with her transgender friends. During their trip, the women begin to argue politics after Chandi Moore asks Caitlyn her opinion of Donald Trump. "I think he would have a hard time with women," says Jenner, who further offers, "It doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be good for women’s issues. I think he would be very good for women’s issues."

The rest of the women groan at the lifelong Republican’s statement, but Jenner explains in a confessional, "Just because I’m a woman now doesn’t make me all of a sudden liberal." The debate escalates when the women bring up Clinton, to which Jenner says, "I would never, ever, ever vote for Hillary... If Hillary becomes president, the country is over."

Three Israelis wounded in two attacks
[Ynet] Man lightly maimed in Jerusalem knife attack; attacker flees but is caught; hours later, two soldiers maimed when bullets are fired from inside passing car.

Two IDF soldiers were lightly maimed on Friday evening when shots were fired from a passing car near a checkpoint in the Beit Horon area. The car was apparently going in the direction of Beitunia, and police began searching that area.

Hours earlier, a 29-year-old Jewish man was stabbed in his upper body on Hebron Road in Jerusalem's Old City, not far from the Dung Gate.

The stabber, a 19-year-old man from the West Bank, managed to escape, but was found hiding in one of the nearby alleys shortly thereafter by police and Border Police with the help of the police's Mabat 2000 unit, which has security cameras all over the city.

The victim, a yeshiva student who was moderately maimed, was evacuated to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem after his condition was stablized and was updated to light.

ROK on high alert against N. Korea's cyber threats
SEOUL -- The Defense Ministry convened an emergency meeting Friday of military officials in charge of cybersecurity amid growing threats from North Korea.

It was to discuss ways to deal with the North's possible cyber attacks anytime soon, ministry officials said. Vice Defense Minister Hwang In-moo presided over the session held at a video conference room in the ministry's building in central Seoul.

Recently, the secretive North has especially sought to hack the smartphones of South Korean military commanders and top government officials on national security, according to the South's state intelligence agency. The agency was quoted as telling lawmakers that some attempts were successful.

The military has already raised the stage of "INFOCON," which is an information-related defense alert system, by one notch.

"Establishing a firm cyber security posture in the national defense field is an important task at a time when North Korea, which has more than 6,800 in manpower for a cyber warfare, uses the asymmetrical means of cyberattack," said the ministry.

US adds Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin members to list of global terrorists
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Two members of Hezb-e-Islami party led by notorious warlord Gulbuddin Hekmatyar
... who used to be known in intelligence circles as The Most Evil Man in the World but who now seems merely run-of-the-mill evil...
have been added to the list of global Lions of Islam by the United States.

"The Department of State has designated Abdullah Nowbahar and Abdul Saboor as Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs) under section 1(b) of Executive Order (E.O.) 13224, which imposes sanctions on foreign persons that have committed, or pose a serious risk of committing, acts of terrorism that threaten the security of U.S. nationals or the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the United States," according to an official statement.

The statement by the Department of State further added that the designations blocks all property subject to U.S. jurisdiction in which Abdullah Nowbahar and Abdul Saboor have any interest and prohibits U.S. persons from engaging in any transactions with Nowbahar and Saboor.

On February 26, 2015 the U.S. Department of State’s Rewards for Justice (RFJ) Program announced rewards for information on both Nowbahar and Saboor, the Department of State said, adding that the Secretary of State authorized a reward of up to $3 million for information on Saboor and up to $2 million on Nowbahar.

According to Department of State, Abdullah Nowbahar and Abdul Saboor are explosive experts for Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin (HIG). Both Nowbahar and Saboor participated in the September 18, 2012 attack on a bus carrying foreign employees of Kabul

Saboor is also responsible for a May 2013 suicide kaboom in Kabul that destroyed a U.S. armored vehicle, killing two soldiers and four U.S. civilian contractors; eight Afghans -- including two children -- were also killed and another 37 were maimed.

North Korea lost a submarine, defense officials say
[FOXNEWS] North Korea has a missing submarine, two defense officials told Fox News Friday.
"Good work, team. Nothing like a live fire exercise to keep up our skills."
"Yes sir! Thank you, sir!"
One official told Fox the submarine is a 70-foot Yono class "midget" submarine that is diesel powered and has a crew of two, with room for a squad of saboteurs. It was unclear who may have been onboard.

North Korea does not operate large ballistic missile submarines, such as the U.S. Navy’s Ohio-class fleet.
Though it would be interesting to see them try...
Fox News has learned North Korea has not asked the United States to assist in search and rescue efforts.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Anti-Daesh coalition strikes group with rockets from Jordan
The anti-Daesh coalition recently conducted three land-based artillery rocket strikes for the first time from Jordan into southern Syria in support of fight against the militants, a U.S. defense official said Friday.

Noting the U.S. has been firing the HIMARS strikes out of the Taqaddum and al-Asad airbases in Iraq since last summer, Col. Steve Warren, spokesman for the anti-Daesh coalition, stressed that this “very versatile and flexible weapons system” was a good indicator the U.S. could integrate with southern-based opposition forces.

“We're able to use it as a nice all-weather system, with pin-point accuracy, so it's every bit as accurate as the air-based strikes that we use,” he said.

“And we fully intend to continue leveraging that.” The High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) is a highly-mobile artillery rocket system and can use multiple munition types to strike from up to 321 kilometers (200 miles) away, according to reports.

Though recent strikes were the second coalition operation into the southern city of Al-Tanf, Syria, the latest operation with artillery rockets was the first to be conducted from Jordan. Three months ago, opposition forces conducted a mortar raid in the city and quietly exited.

“Now, they've actually taken enough that they actually are holding a piece of terrain there in Atompf, so that's good news,” he said.

Warren added that U.S. troops did not accompany the coalition while the strikes were conducted.

Asked whether the U.S. trust the Ahrar al-Sham and Jaysh al-Islam operating in Syria, strong armed opposition groups, Warren said the Pentagon was gaining confidence in both and worked with opposition groups in Syria.

“They are continuing to gain successes; they are continuing to, you know, learn how to fight this enemy,” he said, adding the groups not only fought against the Syrian regime but also Daesh. “I do not believe that we are providing the right support to them. We're not allied with those two groups.”

US general: Russian return to South America 'concerning'
Russia is trying to reach out to former Soviet allies in South and Central America in an attempt to compete against U.S. influence, the head of U.S. Southern Command said Thursday. Noting that U.S. global competitors are trying to influence countries in the Western hemisphere, Adm. Kurt W. Tidd said "the most concerning of them is Russia".

"As part of their global strategy, Russia attempts to discredit our reliability as a trustworthy partner here in our own region," Tidd said.

He said Russia portrays the U.S. as "unreliable" and "withdrawing from this pivotal region", adding that Moscow’s resurgence in the region is "extremely competitive".

The Russians are trying to trade off military technology at competitive prices to reinstate Moscow’s influence and its role in the defense market in the region, he said.

"Russia is very, very present there, and we need to be worried about that," he added.

The former Soviet Union had a significant influence in the region, particularly on Venezuela and Cuba. After the Soviet Union's collapse, domestic political and economic problems forced Russia to pull back from from South American theatre.

Russia’s new attempt to gain a foothold in the Americas comes amid Washington's initiative to reconcile with Cuba and the rest of the region.

PYD shuts down Kurdish opposition party’s offices in Syria
[AA.TR] PYD, the terrorist PKK’s Syrian affiliate, shut down the offices of the Kurdish Yekiti party in northeast Syria on Friday, local sources said.

The sources said that PYD shut Yekiti’s offices in Hasakah province on grounds that the party was unlicensed.

Seen as one of the biggest parties of the National Council of Syrian Kurds (ENKS), Yekiti is opposed to the Assad regime.

PYD has been in control of Hasakah since 2014. The PYD, which is known for working alongside the Assad regime, is trying to oppress other Kurdish opposition groups.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) said earlier this year that the PYD terror group has been involved in ethnic cleansing, arbitrary arrest and forced conscription in Syria.

Amnesia Amnesty International said in a 2015 report that the PYD ruined the northern region in which Arabs and Turkmen civilians live and caused the forceful displacement of residents.

[DAWN] The political administration in South Wazoo Agency gave on Friday two days to elders of Sulimankhel tribe to find five employees of Fata Development Authority (FDA) and their four guards who went missing in an area of the agency on Thursday.

According to officials, Assistant Political Agent Saad Qaisrani held a meeting with elders of the tribe and asked them to produce the missing people by Sunday. Otherwise, he warned, action would be taken against the entire tribe under the collective responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation.

The action would include sealing of properties of the entire tribe and suspension of ‘incentives’. Besides, they would be kept under custody till the release of the missing employees.

14 Afghan Taliban militants arrested from Quetta
QUETTA: Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) on Thursday claimed to have arrested 14 members of the Afghan Taliban during a raid at Quetta's Pashtoonabad area.

The militants were picked up from a compound located by security forces, a senior official who declined to be named as he was not authorised to speak to the media told DawnNews.

The men were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

"It is premature to say something about the arrest of any high profile leader among them", the official said.

He said further information would be shared with the media after interrogation.

Sleeping bags, boots and administrative objects were also recovered from the possession of the detained men.

Strict security measures were taken during the raid at the compound and a large number of security personnel were deployed to avert any untoward incident.

Pashtoonabad is located in the eastern part of Quetta. The area houses a large number of Afghan refugees, who have been living there for over three decades.

Alleged members of the Afghan Taliban have been picked up by security forces from Pashtoonabad in the past too.

Terror attacks continue 4-month decline in volume
[IsraelTimes] Shin Bet security agency records 154 terror attacks in February, lowest monthly total since July

Continuing a downward trend that began in November, the number of terrorist attacks committed in Israel and the West Bank decreased in February by nine percent over the previous month.

Last month, the Shin Bet security agency recorded a total of 154 terror attacks committed in Israel and the West Bank by Paleostinians against Israelis, the agency wrote in its monthly (Hebrew) report for February, which it published this week.

Attacks in February resulted in the deaths of three victims and the wounding of 11 -- a decrease from the slaying of five victims and the wounding of 28 in January.

The figure for February is the lowest monthly total recorded since July, when 103 attacks were observed.

Attacks began increasing in August, when 171 attacks were documented, and rose sharply in September and October, with 223 and 620 attacks recorded in those months respectively.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in October called the escalation "a terror wave," whereas many Israeli and Paleostinian media dubbed it "the third intifada."

But the overall number of attacks decreased to 326 attacks in November, 246 attacks in December and 169 attacks in January.

Shin Bet recorded last month one attack that it classified as "Jewish terrorism" -- the hurling of an ax at a Paleostinian-owned vehicle near the West Bank settlement of Karnei Shomron. No one was injured in that attack.

Of the attacks recorded in February, 75 percent involved the hurling of Molotov cocktails compared to only five stabbing attacks.

In all, 29 Israelis and four foreign nationals have been killed in a wave of Paleostinian terrorism and violence since October. Some 180 Paleostinians have also been killed, around two-thirds of them while attacking Israelis, and the rest during festivities with troops, according to the Israeli army.

Iraqi girl dies after Daesh chemical attack
A three-year-old Iraqi girl wounded in a chemical attack by the Daesh group died in hospital on Friday, medical sources and officials said.
Democrats and progressives immediately denied that IS has chemical weapons. Then they wrung their hands earnestly...
"She died of respiratory complications and kidney failure... caused by the mustard agent used by Daesh in Taza," said Masrour Aswad, of the Iraqi Commission for Human Rights.

Fatima Samir was among the dozens of people hospitalised after a chemical attack carried out Wednesday on the town of Taza, just south of the city of Kirkuk.

Burhan Abdallah, the head of Kirkuk health directorate, said four people in serious condition were transferred to Baghdad.

Aswad said the rockets fired on Taza from the nearby Daesh-held town of Bashir contained mustard agent. Other security officials said chlorine may have been used. Intelligence officials have collected samples that are still being analysed.

Abu Ridha Al Najjar, a leader in the Turkmen branch of the Hashed Al Shaabi paramilitary umbrella group, said the attack had sown fear. "International NGOs should come to the region to see the effects of such shelling and its consequences on the civilian population, including after the attack," he said.

Three more BIFF bombs disarmed in Maguindanao
[InterAksyon] Three more homemade bombs thought to be planted by the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters were recovered and defused Thursday by military bomb experts in Maguindanao province.

The three improvised explosive devices, made of black powder with cut nails as shrapnel, were found in Datu Salibo, where the government has been constructing a flood control project. To date, at least 28 BIFF bombs have been defused in Datu Salibo.

Captain Joann Petinglay said, "We continue clearing operations. We cannot recommend as of yet the return of displaced families. Your military will not leave the site unless the communities are free of IEDs."

On Thursday, the Humanitarian Emergency Action Response Team of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao distributed food and conducted psychosocial intervention for some 700 families in Datu Saudi Ampatuan.

The latest victims of BIFF bombs were police officers of Gundulungan town, two of whom were injured when their patrol car was bombed in Barangay Bagan.

Abu Sayyaf captives beg Canada, Norway to negotiate
[Inquirer] The Abu Sayyaf has released a new video of the three foreigners and a Filipina woman who were kidnapped from the Island Garden City of Samal in Davao del Norte in September last year.

In the video, the Canadian and Norwegian hostages pled for help to their governments. A hooded Abu Sayyaf militant warned that "something terrible" would be done to the four victims if ransom demands were not met by April 8.

The video was posted on a Facebook page called Pamantasan ng Tawheed at Jihad Filibin. In the video, one of the six armed men forces three of the captives to ask for help.

"For my wife, to my family and this is so much bigger than family, to the Canadian Prime Minister and to the Canadian people in the world, please, do as needed to meet their demand within one month or they will kill me, they will execute us," Canadian John Ridsdel said as a man wearing held a bolo on his neck.

Robert Hall, seated next to his Filipina girlfriend Flor, is next. "I am a Canadian citizen being held by the Abu Sayyaf group for ransom, the amount is, I do not know what it is. But the Canadian government has got to get us out of here fast, to do what is necessary to get us out of here soon. We got one month before this happens," he said.

Norwegian Kjartan Sekkingstad said it was his, "last message to my family, friends and authorities. Follow the negotiation, try to meet their demands within 30 days or we are all dead."

50 die in clashes in Taiz
Clashes intensified on Friday between Shiite rebels and local fighters in the besieged city of Taiz, killing at least 45 fighters on both sides and six civilians over the past 24 hours.

The city has seen heavy fighting between rebels known as Houthis and local resistance units financed and armed by the Saudi-led coalition that is backing Yemen’s internationally recognized government. The local fighters have been advancing and have taken control of Taiz’s western outskirts.

The medical officials said Friday that most of the 45 killed over the past 24 hours died in airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition. They also said that six civilians were killed in random shelling of residential areas. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

According to witnesses, Islamic militants who are fighting next to the local resistance have kidnapped a number of Houthi supporters and members of the ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh’s party in the city of Taiz after storming their houses and shops.

Al-Qaeda in Yemen has posted videos before for its operations in Taiz. The group, along with Salafis, has been fighting side-by-side with the local resistance fighters.

The Houthis have besieged Taiz, widely known as Yemen’s cultural center, for over a year now. Saudi-led coalition launched an extensive air campaign and send ground troops to roll back Houthis.

Judgement Day for ISIS Sharia court judges
[ARA News] QAMISHLI – U.S.-led coalition forces conducted on Friday several airstrikes on the Iraqi province of Anbar, killing a number of jihadi leaders and other militants from the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS), Iraqi officials confirmed.

“In coordination with the Seventh Division of the Iraqi army, the U.S.-led coalition warplanes attacked headquarters of ISIS jihadis in the district of Hit in Anbar province, killing some top leaders and insurgents from the terror group,” said Ali Dawood, Chairman of al-Khalidiya district.

Thursday’s strikes also hit an ISIS Sharia Court in Anbar, local sources reported.

Speaking to ARA News, journalist Sherwan Shekhi reported: “Sharia Courts are highly important because top ISIS jihadis usually gather there. Dozens of top leaders from the terror group have been killed this way.”

“The U.S.-led coalition stepped up airstrikes on vital positions of ISIS militants in Iraq in the past few months. The operations aim at destroying the infrastructure of the group in the region,” Shekhi said.

The coalition’s airstrikes have recently killed dozens of prominent leaders of the radical group across Syrian and Iraq, besides hitting tactical units and oil fields held by ISIS.

Gaza: weapons supplier to the Sinai
[Ynet] The Egyptian government notes a worrying phenomenon regarding the relations between Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, and the terrorist organizations in the Sinai: it turns out that Hamas has become a weapons exporter to Egypt. In the past several months, several types of weapons were found by Egyptian security forces which bear the markings of being manufactured by the Hamas military wing.

Amongst the weapons found were solar water heaters filled with kabooms, which are one of the deadliest weapons ISIS in Sinai uses against the Egyptian military. The solar water heaters are used as IEDs with the ability to take out a tank. A few years ago, Hamas used one of these IEDs and disabled an Israeli tank.

The Egyptian government also claims that ISIS shoots Hamas-made rockets at Egyptian military bases in the peninsula.

Hamas also ships weapons from the Gazoo Strip to elements affiliated with global Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. At present, there is a new reason to worry -- the export of weapons made in the Strip in industrial quantaties is a new phenomenon which indicates a new level of institutionalization of the weapons manufacturing process in the Gazoo Strip

Russian supported Syrian troops launch new offensive
[ARA News] DARAA – Syrian regime forces started moving large weaponry shipments toward a key military airport in the province of As-Suwayda, southern Syria, in preparation for a new military operation in Daraa province against rebel groups fighting against the regime of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, local activists reported on Friday.

The regime army forces have taken al-Khalkhala military airport as a center for receiving large batches of arms and ammunition to launch operations against rebel groups in the nearby Daraa province.

“The shipments have been stored in the airport’s warehouses by the regime’s army,” media activist Ibrahim al-Jahid told ARA News in Daraa, pointing out that “pro-regime forces and allied Lebanese Hezbollah fighters have been preparing to launch an extensive military operation against Syrian rebels in the southern front –supported by Russian air cover in Daraa and its environs.

The source added that the weapons and ammunition arrived to the military airport by land as well as through cargo planes believed to be Russian.

“We have seen the landing of several cargo planes in the airport over the past two weeks,” an eyewitness told ARA News, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

In the meantime, rebel field commander of the Yarmouk Army, Moumin al-Horani, confirmed that the Syrian regime and allies are expected to launch an extensive military operation in Daraa and its countryside in case the fragile truce and negotiations between the regime and opposition failed.

Hourani told ARA News that the regime has filled the airport with munitions, heavy artillery rockets and stereochemistry missiles as well as guided missiles and anti-armor and tank shells.

“Al-Khalkhala military airport is a key bastion to provide the pro-regime checkpoints with ammunition in Daraa and its countryside,” he said.

Al-Khalkhala is one of the largest military airports in the Syrian southern province of As-Suwayda. It is taken by the regime’s air brigade 73 as a major stronghold in the south, which includes two squadrons of MiG 23 and MiG 21. The airport is surrounded with a number of hills most of which are controlled by the radical group of the Islamic State (ISIS).

IAF warplanes retaliate after rockets from Gaza hit southern Israel
[IsraelTimes] Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, Health Ministry says 10-year-old killed, 6-year-old, 13-year-old hurt

Israeli jets struck the northern Gazoo Strip early Saturday morning in response to rocket fire at the southern city of Sderot hours earlier. The IDF confirmed that it struck four Hamas targets in the northern Gazoo, with Paleostinian sources saying the bombings occurred near the town of Beit Lahiya.

The Hamas Health Ministry said 10-year-old Yassin Sleiman Abu Khusa was killed and his 6-year-old sister Yasmin and 13-year-old brother were maimed in the Arclight airstrikes.

The IDF had no immediate comment about the reports of Paleostinian casualties in the strikes.

At least four rockets launched from the Gazoo Strip landed in an open field near the southern Israeli city of Sderot on Friday night. No injuries or damage were reported in the attack. All four rockets fell in open areas.

Rocket sirens sounded in the Sha’ar Hanegev area and in Sderot ahead of the projectiles’ fall.

No organization has yet grabbed credit for the launch, which came at around the same time as a shooting attack in the West Bank that left two IDF soldiers lightly hurt.

Israel has said in the past that it holds the Gazoo-based Hamas terrorist group, which rules the Strip, as responsible for any attacks initiated from within the Paleostinian coastal enclave.

Key Shaboob #3 nabbed in Kenyan refugee camp
A key Al-Shabaab operative was arrested in northeastern Kenya’s Dadaab refugee camps on Friday, barely a day after the Kenyan authorities reiterated the need to close the camps due to security fears.

Northeastern Regional Coordinator Mohamud Saleh said the suspect, a Kenyan from Garissa County bordering Somalia, is a senior Al-Shabaab operative who has been involved in arms trafficking. He was arrested by Kenya’s multi-agency security team who had been tracking him for sometimes now, said Saleh.

The government administrator added that he is also suspected of involvement in the planning and execution of terror attacks within the refugees camps.

Saleh said the security agents recovered an AK-47 rifle, 19 rounds of ammunition and two magazines from the suspect’s hideout, adding that the police are pursuing two other accomplices to the suspect who is on the run.

“The arrest of this key Al-Shabaab operative is a major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism in the country,” Saleh told journalists in Garissa town.

The arrest comes a day after Saleh told Africa Union Security Council and UNHCR officials that Kenya can no longer host the Somali refugee inside the country due to security fears, and asked them to come with a plan to repatriate the refugees back to Somalia. Saleh said the refugees have not appreciated Kenya’s gesture, and some of them were aiding Al-Shabaab militants in planning and execution of terror attacks from inside the Dadaab refugee camps.

Dadaab refugee camps currently host some 350,000 people, and majority of them are Somalis who have fled a country embroiled in conflict.

province of Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the Lions of Islam were killed before attacking army posts in Achin district which was a stronghold of the loyalists of the terror group.

A statement by MoD said the Lions of Islam had gathered in Bandar Khor area and were about to launch an attack on the army posts but were identified and targeted by artillery unit of the army.

This comes as the Afghan national security forces concluded a major operation in Achin district last week, leaving nearly 300 loyalists of the terror group dead or maimed.

The operations continued for 21 days, involving security personnel from all security institutions, including the Afghan Air Force.

The operations by the Afghan forces were launched amid concerns that the loyalists of the terror group were looking to expand foothold and turn the region into a regional operational base.

The coalition officials estimated around 1,000 to 3,000 Islamic State fighters are stationed in in eastern Afghanistan and are trying to establish a base of operations in the rugged mountains of Nangahar Province.

The siege was ended after two days of resistance by the murderous Moslems but the local officials said the Afghan forces carefully conducted the clearance operation to prevent civilian casualties and damages to the neighboring properties.

The district administrative chief Mohammad Sharif confirmed the siege was ended in the early hours of Friday morning after the Afghan forces eliminated all the assailants.

Meanwhile,

the district police chief, Mohammad Ismail, said the attack was launched by a group of ten suicide bombers who were all killed during the shootout with the Afghan forces.

He said four security personnel bit the dust and nine others were maimed but another security official said four coppers and a soldier were killed in the attack and 12 others were maimed.

An official in Helmand Emergency Hospital said 3 dead bodies of the security personnel and 26 injured security personnel were taken to the hospital along with four civilians maimed in the attack.

The Taliban group grabbed credit behind the attack and said heavy casualties were incurred to the security forces including some senior security officers.

Iran preparing to conduct new space launch this weekend
[FOXNEWS] Iran is preparing to launch a new long-range rocket into outer space as soon as this weekend, U.S. officials told Fox News.

The missile is known as a Simorgh and officials are watching the missile on the launch pad as it is being fueled at some holy man's guesthouse an undisclosed location inside Iran.

Officials told Fox they have not seen this specific type of rocket launched in the past.

Any test of a new ballistic missile would be an apparent violation of a UN resolution forbidding Iran from working on its rocket program.

A Simorgh rocket is designed to carry a satellite into space. Officials are concerned that any space launch uses the same technology needed to launch a nuclear-tipped intercontinental ballistic missile or ICBM.

This week, Iran launched multiple ballistic missiles on one day for the first time since 2012, according to defense officials.

UN Security Council Resolution 2231 says Iran is "not to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons, including launches using such ballistic missile technology."

Thursday, a senior Revolutionary Guard commander said that Iran's ballistic missile program will continue to move forward, despite threats of international sanctions.

The U.S. State Department says the launches this week were not in violation of the nuclear deal, but "inconsistent" with UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which was tied to the nuclear deal when it went into effect.

Maoist militant leader nabbed in Mindanao
[Manila Times] A senior Maoist militant leader was nabbed in a military operation conducted in Calinan district in Davao City on Tuesday. Authorities say Ruditha Rosete Gaylawan is the secretary general of Front Committee 54 of the Communist Party of the Philippines.

The militant leader faces a series of criminal charges, including murder. Her elder brother, Bobby Rosete, is also a ranking insurgent.

Last year, a top NPA leader, Leoncio Pitao, alias Ka Parago and his female medical aide, Kyle Hermosa, were killed in battles with Philippine soldiers in Davao City. Pitao, the commander of the brutal Pulang Bagani Command, has been blamed by the military for deadly attacks on military and police targets in Davao and nearby areas.

Trump's Islam comments draw attacks as Republicans discover civility
[DAWN] United States Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump came under fire from his rivals on Thursday for saying Muslims hate the US at a debate where the gut-punching attacks of earlier forums gave way to a suddenly civil tone with a serious focus on the issues.

Trump, who has voiced skepticism about US military involvement abroad in the past, for the first time said America's effort against the murderous Moslem Islamic State

(IS) might require between 20,000 and 30,000 US troops, a number similar to what some Republican hawks have proposed.

The CNN-hosted debate at the University of Miami was crucial, coming days before votes in Florida and Ohio that will determine whether US Senator Marco Rubio of Florida and Ohio Governor John Kasich will be able to continue with their increasingly long-shot candidacies.

#9  The problem is Trump didn't differentiate those who help, who go out of their way to aid us. There are evil Christians, there are good Muslims. And we have failed those who HAVE helped us, the Kurds, the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan, the Sunni Tribes in Al-Anbar. Even the Pakistani doctor who helped us kill Bin Laden.

A vast majority hate us. Not just because they don't know any better(which really, they don't), but because they see our leaders abandon those who are our friends and allies. The exact same way our hate for the Establishment of the Republican Party has been nutured and gained strength, so has the Muslims of our country.

I'm not saying we shouldn't look at them with suspicion, shouldn't hate the way they execute their culture, or be ready should the time come to eliminate the threat. Quite the opposite, I think we'll end up dropping nukes on a Arab nation in the next 2 decades at the rate we're going. But don't throw away your understanding of the big picture, lest when the (radioactive) dust clear we repeat the mistakes.

Lawfare: US Palestinians sue Israeli companies, banks for $34 bn
[Ynet] Paleostinian organizations have filed a $34 billion lawsuit in the US against a host of prominent businessmen, companies and banks in Israel for allegedly aiding the IDF and settlements.

With Paleostinian terrorism continuing to run rampant, Leumi and Hapoalim Banks reported on Wednesday that a lawsuit was filed in the US Federal Court in Washington, DC, against the banks and several Israeli companies, organizations and businessmen. The suit alleges that the defendants support Israeli settlements "in a manner injurious to the Paleostinians and their property rights."

The plaintiffs--activists in Paleostinian organizations who hold American citizenship--allege that the banks carried out financial transfers that included support to communities in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, as well as support to the IDF, thus benefitting the companies and businessmen.

Among the defendants are Africa Israel, Danya Cebus Construction, HP, Volvo, Motorola, Israel Chemicals, and Ahava.

The cumulative amount claimed against all the defendants is approximately $34 billion, but the lawsuit does not include an explanation of the calculation method or a legal reference.

Bank Leumi wrote in a letter sent Wednesday morning to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange that "the lawsuit does not include any explanation whatsoever or formula that serves as the legal or financial basis for the lawsuit's amount, and no explanation for the connection between the plaintiffs and the astronomical amount of this claim."

Arabia
Kerry arrives in Saudi-controlled Arabia for talks
US Secretary of State John Kerry landed Friday at a sprawling military facility in northeastern Saudi Arabia where the kingdom just finished a three-week-long counter-terrorism drill that included 20 nations and which observers say was a show of force against its foes.

Kerry touched down at the King Khalid Military City near the town of Hafr al-Batin in the desert, south of the Iraqi and Kuwaiti border. He was later in the evening received by King Salman and other top Saudi officals, which was to be followed by a working dinner with Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef and Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir.

His visit came as the kings of Bahrain and Jordan joined Pakistan’s prime minister, Abu Dhabi’s crown prince, Qatar’s emir and the Saudi king for a parade and airshow marking the end of the military exercise, dubbed “Northern Thunder.”

The drill focused on how to coordinate combat operations and guerrilla warfare tactics among the Muslim-majority countries that are members of a larger counter-terrorism alliance announced by the kingdom in December.

It also comes amid heightened tensions between Saudi Arabia and its regional Shiite rival Iran as they back opposite sides of the wars in Syria and Yemen. On Thursday, state media reported that Saudi Arabia was building a new air base to protect the kingdom’s airspace in Hafr al-Batin.

The drills included troops from Egypt, Pakistan, Turkey, Malaysia, Jordan, Sudan and the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council. Other countries that contributed include Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Maldives, Mauritania, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia.

Kerry’s talks are expected to focus on the civil wars in Syria and Yemen, where a Saudi-led campaign has been targeting the country’s Iran-backed Shiite rebels.

From the kingdom, Kerry will head to Paris for talks on Sunday with Europe’s top diplomats about Libya, Syria, Yemen and Ukraine. The meeting is also an opportunity for him to meet with France’s new foreign minister, Jean-Marc Ayrault. They’ll be joined by the foreign ministers of Britain, Germany, Italy and the EU foreign policy chief.

Kerry is also expected to discuss the migrant crisis facing Europe.

There have also been increasing European concern about the expansion of ISIS - which holds about a third of Iraq and Syria - in Libya amid the North African country’s political chaos. EU diplomats are discussing possible sanctions against Libyans seen as obstructing the peace process.

Additionally, European officials are upset about President Barack Obama’s criticism of European policy in Libya after the 2011 NATO-led campaign that ousted Muammar Qaddafi.

Lebanon’s speaker indicates presidency deal almost ready
But I think we all saw this coming...
Again? The smart money says this deal will fall through, just like all the previous ones.
The influential speaker of Lebanon’s parliament signaled on Friday that a deal to elect a president was almost ready, raising hopes that a presidential vacuum which has paralyzed the political system for nearly two years could soon be filled.

Lebanese newspaper An-nahar cited Speaker Nabih Berri saying in an interview that the presidency had “truly ripened” and it was time to “pick it”.

His comments were published after former Lebanese prime minister Saad al-Hariri, who is backed by Saudi Arabia, said he was confident parliament would elect a president on March 23 or at the next session in April, according to LBC TV station.

#3  Should have taken a lesson from Perry. When its over, its over. Toadying is simply disgusting. Its impossible to out-stupid Ben Carson in this campaign cycle. He had so much going for him initially and threw it all away. Welcome to the end your political career, stand over there by Chris Christie, and run along like a good little servant when Herr Drumpf tells you to.

#5  Ben Carson is a surgeon and a professor, not a politician. He ran because he thought it was his duty, not because his nature or training in any way prepared him for the jobs of candidate and president. He's a good, highly intelligent, hard working man who would have been an utterly ineffectual president.

On a different note, I find the "Herr Drumpf" locution marks a certain lack of cleverness, especially by someone using the randomly generated nym of Fester Untervehr9130. The name the man inherited was "Trump"; as far I'm concerned, that's the end of it. I once had a math teacher with the unobjectionable name of Mr. Huber. His great-grandfather had left Germany with the name Pfaffelhuber, but very reasonably dropped the first half in the boat over as being too difficult for Americans to deal with. Likewise, I know a number of Chinese immigrants and American-born Chinese who have a Chinese name and an English name for the same reason. In America we do not carry the burden of ancient ancestors, but look only at what the individual has done with his life.

#6  I've said a number of time she'd make a nice Surgeon General instead of President and Trump fans would jump up and say they wouldn't hire him for dog catcher. Now that he's on Trumps good list we'll see if that was just posturing or what.

I felt Christie would make a fine Attorney General and I'd guess that's the deal he cut.

#4 made me laugh. Yeah, Jeb made it look easy.

Carson struck me as one of the more intelligent people in the debates. More than that he was calm and collected.

tw, I'm not sure about the ineffectual part. Just because he didn't pound his chest doesn't mean he can't be effective. But it would seem the American electorate wants a certain amount of chest pounding.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Terror in my backyard
[Ynet] The terror attack in Jaffa is likely an attempt to destroy the peaceful coexistence that exists in the city; we must not let him succeed.

More than anything else, the promenade from Jaffa to Tel Aviv is "the promenade of coexistence". On both ends, Arabs and Jews travel, have fun, and barbecue on a regular basis.

This does not mean that there is great love between the communities, but there is definitely coexistence. The number of incidents is almost zero. I'm there about twice a week. There's a fixed path there for running, walking, riding bicycles, as well as meeting friends and visiting the shops in Jaffa. It's almost my backyard. Tuesday's terrorist was killed 200 meters from my house, just a few meters away from the soccer field where my son plays every day.

It's not pleasant when it happens in other places. It is certainly not pleasant when it happens close to home. It's frustrating. Another minute or two and he would have arrived at the kids' playground, adjacent to the HaTachana compound, which is crowded in the afternoon. It's frightening. It's chilling. It's an intolerable reality.

There is no quick fix. There is no such thing. But there is also no option to proceed without a plan that gives us a chance for change. It is not clear that the Paleostinians are acting out of desperation. They're acting primarily because of incitement and hatred. But if things go on like this, despair will be the provenance of the Jews. So please wake up over there.

Jaffa's Arabs have nothing to do with what happened yesterday, and any attempt to link them is cheap demagoguery. Aside from a few days of protests, about decade and a half ago, they have shown maturity throughout the crises. It's not as though they have become Zionists. But they keep day-to-day relations normal, in a way that the enemies of Israel so despise. They do not support the state of Hezbollah, as do some of their politicians. They support the state of Tel Aviv.

Tuesday's attacker presumably wanted to harm this normalization -- just like bandidos bully boyz who came before him, on that same promenade.

In 2001, the Dolphinarium attack ocurred, in which 21 teen girls and boys were killed on a Friday night. Two years later, a terrorist from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade stabbed Amir Simhon to death. The attacker of 2003 followed a route almost identical to Tuesday’s attack.

The promenade between Jaffa and Tel Aviv has thus become the center of murderous activity. And maybe -- who knows? -- this is happening precisely because it is a location that despite everything, after all, is a point of sanity between Arabs and Jews. Hebrew and Arabic are often heard emanating from children's mouths on the promenade’s playgrounds. I often encountered tourists who were somewhat surprised by the bilingual spectacle.

This reality is what the attackers want to destroy. We must not let them succeed.

The Grand Turk
Turkey slams Daesh chemical attack on Iraqi Turkmen town
[AA.TR] Turkish authorities have strongly condemned Wednesday's chlorine gas attack in Iraq's Turkmen-populated town of Tazehurmatu

The attack by the terrorist Daesh [Islamic State] group killed a two-year-old girl and severely maimed scores others.

In a written statement late on Friday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed serious concerns over the reports on the use of chemical weapons.

The weapons’ use was confirmed by Tazehurmatu police chief Salah Abbas who said the town was attacked with more than 40 mortar and Katyusha shells which included chemical agents.

"We reiterate our harsh condemnation for the inhumane methods used by the Daesh [Islamic State] terrorist organization," read the ministry statement.

Noting its close contact with Iraqi Turkmen officials in the region regarding the incident, Ankara said that Turkmen officials had submitted their findings to the UN mission in Iraq.

"We are ready as always to provide the required support to our Turkmen brothers in healthcare and humanitarian aid," the statement added.

Two-year-old Fatma Samir died at an Iraqi hospital on Friday after suffering serious injuries to her respiratory system.

Her father told Anadolu Agency that he held Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi responsible for the death of children like his daughter in Daesh [Islamic State] attacks.

"Since terrorist Daesh [Islamic State] emerged, our town has come under mortar and missile shelling for nearly two years. It is not a new incident," he added.

The village of Bashiri, five kilometers [3 miles] from Tazehurmatu , has been under the terrorist group’s control since 2014 when it overran djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
Activists said at least 30 of the town’s 300 residents suffered severe burns and suffocation following the chlorine gas attack.

According to Tazehurmatu Police Chief Abbas, five townspeople were rendered unconscious due to the gas.

Iraqi PM Al-Abadi said on Friday that the use of chemical weapons was a "hostile crime."

"The use of chemical [weapons] by the terrorist Daesh [Islamic State] organization, especially against children and women, during the attack against Tazehurmatu is a big and hostile crime against humanity," Abadi said.

"Daesh [Islamic State] has used Mosul University to develop the chlorine gas used in Tazehurmatu ," Iraqi Turkmen Front President Arshad al-Salihi told Anadolu Agency earlier in the day.

Last month, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons said Daesh [Islamic State] used mustard and chlorine gas in an attack on Kurdish peshmerga forces in 2015.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Russia continues to support Kurds in Syria
[ARA News] ERBIL – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has noted the importance of involving Kurds in the upcoming intra-Syrian talks that are scheduled for next week.

This comes amid a growing possibility of Russia supporting a Kurdish federal region in Syria.

“In this context, the importance was emphasized of necessity to involve all Syrian sides in these talks – in particular, opposition representatives with pro-Moscow, pro-Cairo and other political platforms, including representatives of Kurdish forces (…),” the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Nevertheless, the Kurdish group that Russia backs, the Democratic Union Party (PYD), will not by invited to the Syrian peace talks in Geneva due to a Turkish opposition.

Speaking to ARA News, Timur Akhmetov, an independent Russian analyst on the Middle East, said: “Basically, Russia officially says it is not against any claims of Kurds unless all issues are discussed within ‘national dialogue’ (over which basically Damascus has a final say) and attempts will not end up with state disintegration.”

Akhmetov raised doubts about the potential Russian support to Syrian Kurds.

“Interestingly, Russian approach to solving all problems in the regions is based on support for central governments not on distributing more powers to regions,” he said. “Also, Russia is not ready to antagonize Turkey by providing real support to the Syrian Kurds though it is eager to exploit the Kurdish issue to exert pressure on Ankara.”

Former U.S. Ambassador to Syria, Robert Ford, said in an exclusive interview with ARA News that it is not clear why Russia backs a federal Syria.

“It is not at all clear why the Russians have thrown out for consideration this idea of a federal Syria. Syria has no history as a federal state,” he said.

“It may be that the Russians have decided that the only way for the Alawite and Druze areas to live safely is to manage their own security and enjoy a measure of self-governance. It might allow them to retain their bases even if in a few years a Sunni-dominated government wanted Russian bases out,” he added.

The Syrian opposition has opposed the plans for federalism, fearing division on the ground.

“The opposition has reacted negatively so far. Part of this is because they suspect this move aims at allowing the Syrian Kurds and perhaps even the Alawi community along the coast to declare independence eventually,” Ford told ARA News.

But even in Iraq, Sunni Arabs back federalism now, the former U.S. diplomat said.

“In Iraq, Sunni Arabs in 2004-2009 were against a federal Iraq, but with the passage of time and the political developments in Baghdad, now in 2016 many Iraqi Sunni Arabs like the idea of decentralization and more self-governance within Iraq.”

However, it is most likely that the most powerful Kurdish actor on the ground, the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) will not be invited to Geneva talks. Whereas the Kurdish National Council (KNC), which is part of the Syrian opposition, will attend as part of the Syrian Coalition.

Abdulhakim Bashar, a member of the KNC-parties, was appointed as vice-president of the Syrian Coalition last week. Moreover, Fuad Aliko, another leading member of the KNC, is also expected to attend the Geneva negotiations.

Haytham Manna, co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), which includes the PYD, said Thursday that he will boycott the talks, reported the Russian news agency Sputnik.

“The fact that the Kurds weren’t invited is one of the reasons [for not attending talks],” Manna said.

This comes as thousands of Kurds protested in Derbassiyah, Tel Temir, Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Hasakah in northeastern Syria on Thursday, calling for the including of the PYD and the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the Geneva talks.

140 New Moroccans Join IS Ranks
Some 140 new Moroccans have joined the Islamic State terror group, according to leaked-IS documents disclosed by British Sky News.
Cradle-robbers...
Moroccan local media “Akhbar Al Yaoum” announced in its Friday publication that the documents unveiled by Sky News thanks to an IS-Syrian defector, reveal that some 140 individuals said to be Moroccans have joined IS.

The documents revealed that the terror group’s army is made up of 22,000 Jihadists from more than 55 countries including UK, the United States, Northern Europe, Canada, North Africa and the Middle East. Some 1,200 Moroccans have been reported in IS ranks in conflict zones namely in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen.

At a recent security forum held in Morocco, experts argued that the number of Moroccans who have pledged allegiance to IS could be estimated at 1,500 while the country currently houses around 500 IS members.

Afghanistan
Karzai warns Pakistan over cross-border incursions
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The former Afghanistan's Caped President Hamid Maybe I'll join the Taliban Karzai
... A former Baltimore restaurateur, now 12th and current President of Afghanistan, displacing the legitimate president Rabbani in December 2004. He was installed as the dominant political figure after the removal of the Taliban regime in late 2001 in a vain attempt to put a Pashtun face on the successor state to the Taliban. After the 2004 presidential election, he was declared president regardless of what the actual vote count was. He won a second, even more dubious, five-year-term after the 2009 presidential election. His grip on reality has been slipping steadily since around 2007, probably from heavy drug use...
warned Pakistain over cross-border incursions and called on Pak authorities to prevent deterioration of relations between the two nations with cross-border attacks.

Hailing the Pak nation for supporting Afghans during the Jihad times, the former president said the Afghan nation remains tolerant and patient regarding the cross-border incursions but warned that the Pak authorities should not mistake it for the weakness of the Afghan people.

The reaction by Karzai followed days after the Pak air force violated the Afghan air space and bombed various locations in Dangam district of Kunar province
... which is right down the road from Chitral. Kunar is Haqqani country.....
, located along the Durand Line.

He said such provocative acts will further intensify tensions among the two nations and will have a negative impact on the relations of the neighboring countries.

The violation by the Pak air force followed two days after the Afghan and Pak forces exchanged fire along the Durand Line in Goshta district of eastern Nangarhar

province.

Thisc omes as a similar incident took place between the Afghan and Pak forces along the Durand Line earlier last year.

Local officials in Kandahar province said the festivities between the two sides broke out last year after Afghan border police forces stopped the Pak troops to create check posts inside the Afghan soil.

Israeli troops shut Palestinian TV station
Israeli forces have raided the West Bank offices of Palestine Today television and arrest-ed its manager over allegations of inciting violence, Israel's Shin Bet internal security agency said on Friday. The overnight operation targeting the station's Ramallah offices was the latest attempt to silence Palestinian broadcasters Israel believes are fuelling a five-month wave of violence.

The Shin Bet charged that the channel "broadcasts on behalf of the Islamic Jihad" group and said it had closed it in a joint operation with the army."The channel served the Islamic Jihad as a central means to incite the West Bank population, calling for terror attacks against Israel and its citizens. Incitement was broad-cast on the television station as well as the Internet," it said in a state-ment.Israeli forces arrested Palestine Today manager, Farooq Aliat, 34, of Bir Zeit, north of Ramallah, "an Islamic Jihad operative who had been imprisoned in Israel for his activities", it added.

Cameraman Mohammed Amr and technician Shabib Shabib were also arrested, the Palestinian Journalists Union said.An army spokeswoman said tech-nical equipment and transmitters were confiscated from the Ramallah offices, which were ordered shut. The channel, which has offices in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, continued to broadcast to the West Bank via its Lebanese transmitters, it said.Islamic Jihad denounced the Israeli aggression against the nationalist media of the resistance, calling the raid another episode in the long saga of oppression by the occupation.

India-Pakistan
Describing Baloch as ‘uncivilised’ in textbook irks Senators
[DAWN] Description of the Baloch as "uncivilised" people in the syllabus being taught in Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

irked Senators who called on Friday for action against the people responsible.

The issue was raised in the upper house of parliament by Senator Mir Kabir of the National Party who pointed out that the sociology book being taught to the 12th class in Punjab described the Baloch as "uncivilised people engaged in murder and looting".

Leader of the House Raja Zafarul Haq said the matter was "tantamount to stabbing the nation in the back".

He said a committee should be formed and those responsible for the "blunder" should be summoned before it.

Mushahidullah Khan of the PML-N said the entire syllabus should be reviewed to find out if there were more such distortions in it.

He said that action should be taken against those who were supposed to monitor the contents of the syllabus.

Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani said the syllabus had been reviewed with a view to bringing it in line with the Constitution. A report on the matter would be presented in the next session of the house.

He said the syllabus had been prepared under an ordinance promulgated during Gen Zia ul Haq
...the creepy-looking former dictator of Pakistain. Zia was an Islamic nutball who imposed his nutballery on the rest of the country with the enthusiastic assistance of the nation's religious parties, which are populated by other nutballs. He was appointed Chief of Army Staff in 1976 by Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, whom he hanged when he seized power. His time in office was a period of repression, with hundreds of thousands of political rivals, minorities, and journalists executed or tortured, including senior general officers convicted in coup-d'état plots, who would normally be above the law. As part of his alliance with the religious parties, his government helped run the war against the Soviets in Afghanistan, providing safe havens, American equipiment, Saudi money, and Pak handlers to selected mujaheddin. Zia died along with several of his top generals and admirals and the then United States Ambassador to Pakistain Arnold Lewis Raphel when he was assassinated in a suspicious air crash near Bahawalpur in 1988...
’s days in power.

"The syllabus still teaches children the benefits of dictatorship," he remarked, adding that it told the students that dictatorship had 12 benefits against only eight benefits of democracy.

Mr Rabbani said that only one paragraph had been devoted to the dismemberment of Pakistain but there was no mention of the struggle for democracy in the syllabus. The syllabus claimed that imposition of dictatorship was in the interest of the country and the nation.

-Land of the Free
This Week in Guns, March 12, 2016

By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

Perhaps you missed it from yesterday: the story that Russian backed rebels in Donetsk were engaging their targets out to 500 meters, an unheard of range even with the 5.45x39mm AK-74 rifle. Pretty amazing change in gunnery for the Rooshuns, if you ask me.

***

The arguments that are most notably absent in talking about the right to keep and bear arms are the reasons. Federal law has built up rules and regulations over the years that restrict legal weapons to sport or self defense against criminals, but hardly anyone wants to talk about the original purpose for making a constitutional law that forbids the government from restricting the ownership and use of firearms: for use against foreign and domestic enemies, however they are defined.

One of the great ironies of our time, if this nation survives in the next eight years, is how laws passed at all levels of government over the years have sought to restrict and even eliminate firearms ownership, all with the stamped approval of black robed mandarins cheered on by that part of the political electorate so unhinged about firearms that they seek their countrymen's deaths. Laws which are regarded as a work in progress for even more laws, but are never commonly regarded as what they are: unconstitutional infringements on a right outlined in the constitution.

Growing up, I was raised in a relatively liberal household, so I never seriously considered the sentiments I occasionally saw emblazoned on vehicles about Liberty being only one generation from disappearing. I never had a firearm in my household, so I never really considered the implications of owning one, not just from the practical point of view, but as an emblem of American citizenship and respect for the US Constitution. After I changed politically, I spent many years feeling guilty about what I had done to further the agenda of the left, until I decided to absolve myself the only way it was going to be done, by pursuing as best I can a reversal of the growing, insipid insanity that constitutes modern governance.

From John Mosby: a three part series on developing a practice plan

Answer: "Make your targets smaller."

#1  The part they and even gun supporters miss about the issue is what is the militia. In 1792 that was every free white male 18 to 45, to be armed with the same type weapon that the small standing army was equipped with. That little nagging thing called the Constitution had in its contents, Article I, Section 8 that particular power in Congress -

The Congress shall have power...

To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;
To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;
To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

Today that is found in Title X, USC -

10 U.S. Code § 311 - Militia: composition and classes
(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b) The classes of the militia are—
(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

That means, whether you want to or not, per the authority granted by the Constitution, Congress has enrolled said males into the federal militia. It's the basis of what commonly is referred to as the 'draft' which is more accurately the selective activation of that federal militia (ie Selective Service). Do away with the law governing the militia and technically the 14th Amendment comes into play prohibiting involuntary servitude. That's if you believe in law and the constitution sort of stuff. Non-applicable if you just believe in power.

#2  P2K - What you say is true, but when I go back and read the 2A this is what I see:

Because a well regulated Militia is necessary for the security of a free State, the right of the people individually to also keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. [my edits]

In other words, because the government must have access to military force, the people must have access to it as well.

#3  Yep. The founders never trusted a standing army of any significance. They were just recently Englishmen who's experience include Oliver Cromwell. That's reflected in the document. Also, they didn't want the standing army to be much better armed than the militia for the same reason.

#4  There was a lot of concern even with a standing Navy.
