Kasich is deserving of nothing but scorn. He should have bowed out long ago, and for the life of me I can't figure out why he imagines that he represents the Republican party. Had he folded long ago, perhaps Cruz or somebody else would have had a legit shot of making up ground on Trump.

American consumers and the U.S. economy were hit with a nearly $1.9 trillion tax in 2015 through federal regulations, according to a free market thinktank's new report. For those of you keeping track, that is more than the entire German economy.
Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) describes the thousands of ways Americans are unknowingly taxed by federal regulations in its annual report, "Ten Thousand Commandments: An Annual Snapshot of the Federal Regulatory State."
"The federal government has become very savvy in hiding costs by expanding their reach beyond taxes into regulations," Clyde Wayne Crews Jr., the report's author, said in a statement. "Unfortunately, regulatory costs get little attention in policy debates, because unlike taxes, they are difficult to quantify because they are unbudgeted and often indirect."
"But the impacts of burdensome regulations are very real and increase costs for consumers and businesses, limiting productivity and a thriving free market," he continued. And expect to see more of them as Obumblecare crashes and the government more and more runs out of other people's money.
Federal regulations hide a $15,000 tax per household each year, according to the report. The costs associated with these rules often affect businesses' prices, workers' wages, and growth.
"The federal government's reach extends well beyond Washington's taxes, deficits and borrowing," the report said. "Federal environmental, safety and health, and economic regulations affect the economy by hundreds of billions ‐ even trillions‐ of dollars annually."
More than 3,400 rules were issued by agencies, while Congress only enacted 114 laws in 2015, the report said. That means there were about 30 regulations for every law passed. And the press and the political elite still can't figure out why the middle class is soooo pissed off.
Around 60 federal bodies are developing almost 3,300 more regulations, the report said. More than 200 of those will have a $100 million effect on the economy annually.
Agencies very rarely analyze the costs and benefits of new rules, and regulators are disinclined to highlight when benefits don't outweighs costs, Crews wrote.
"In fact, one could expect agencies to devise new and suspect categories of benefits to justify agency rule making activity and new endeavors," the report said.
The departments of the Treasury, Commerce, Interior, Health and Human Services and Transportation alone make up 41 percent of all federal regulations. I see the first three agencies that need to be disbanded
"The 2015 Federal Register contains more than 80,000 pages, the third highest page count in history," the report said. Six of the seven all-time-highest Federal Register page counts occurred under President Barack Obama.
Also, the Obama administration increased the average major annual regulations by nearly 30 percent from the George W. Bush administration.

The sky is falling. Oh my god! Yes, us trumpkins will get what we wanted. We want out government to listen to us. We want out leaders to stop raiding our national treasure, we want to take care of our vets, balance the budget, put some integrity back in the White House. We want a president that bows to no one but God and mother. We don't really give a damn if he leans a little to the left. Most of America is in the middle anyway. We care that the America we leave for our kids is a strong one, an honest one, a nation that other nations respect and fear. A nation we can be proud of. If that means turning DC on its head for 4 to 8 years I'm all in. The alternative of more of the same will lead to this once great nation failing. Now is the time and no other political candidate wants to fix it, they just want more of the same.

I will always remember this as a turning point in understanding that so many 'conservatives' are like so many socialists who like the facade of democracy but who really only want power to impose their will on others. There are 'true believers' but they are too few to actually accomplish their articulated 'wishes'. Someone actually articulated what so many believed and felt for so long and all he gets is trash talk. First there was the Porkbusters, then the Tea Party and the establishment ignored them or at best paid lip service to them, undermining their candidates time and again. This they can not ignore. They created it. They own it. They have played nice with those who back stabbed them at every opportunity in the Beltway. They only found the will to fight back against those they claim to represent. Those who they claim, no longer buy their weasel rationalizations for not taking the fight to those with their hands on power.
Dear troll, if Cruz couldn't make it to the convention on the primary system, he wasn't going to win in the general election. It would have been Berry Goldwater all over. You need a coalition to win, not ideological purity. Any one of the numerous Trunk candidates could have preempted all of this by openly articulating as Trump has done, but, as with so many Trunks, were/are so afraid of being called racist, heartless, mean, xenophobic. They made him.
I suspect strongly that he will not achieve the office, not because of the vote, but because of a high possibility of assassination driven by the hatred and fear of so many. Welcome to Rome.

Trump started loosing ground after attacking Cruz's wife and going after Megan. Cruz hammered Trump by saying he is afraid of strong women. The Donald realized his mistakes, met one on one with Megan and said he was out of line attacking Mrs Cruz. From then on he won all contests easily.
The secret here is the power of women voters. Trump will have to convince women voters to choose him over another woman, Hildabeest.

[Ynet] A German court said Tuesday a group of Islamic snuffies who patrolled the streets of the city of Wuppertal in orange vests with the words "Sharia police" can be tried for violating laws against wearing uniforms with political messages.
The Duesseldorf state court reversed a lower court's dismissal of the case after prosecutors appealed.
The group of nine men made headlines in 2014 when they attempted to establish "Sharia police" in Wuppertal to enforce a strict interpretation of Islam. They patrolled some parts of the city repeatedly asking people to stop drinking alcohol or visiting nightclubs.
One, Sven Lau, was also indicted by federal prosecutors last month on suspicion of supporting a foreign terror group.

IS attacked the peshmerga in multiple areas of northern Iraq on Tuesday in an attempt to "thwart the plan to liberate Mosul," said Jabbar Yawar, the secretary general of the autonomous Kurdish region's peshmerga ministry.
The United States announced last month that it was deploying additional forces to Iraq, bringing the official total to more than 4,000.
Pentagon front man Jeff Davis said the forces would be authorized to advise Iraqis at the battalion and brigade level as opposed to larger divisions, potentially exposing them to greater risks closer to the front lines.
The coalition military official said the service member killed on Tuesday was involved in advising and assisting forces, and was three to five kilometers (two to three miles) behind the front line.
The size of the unit he was advising was not immediately clear.
The coalition is carrying out daily air strikes against IS, and while most American forces on the ground in Iraq play advisory and support roles, Washington has also deployed special forces to carry out raids against IS and U.S. Marines to provide artillery support.
Two U.S. military personnel have already been killed by the jihadists in Iraq: an American Marine by rocket fire in March and a special forces soldier who died of wounds received during a raid last October.

[AnNahar] The first batch of Syrian refugees left Leb to Italia early on Tuesday as part of a humanitarian mission sponsored by an ecumenical partnership between Italian Christian organizations, reports said.
One hundred Syrian refugees, mostly women and kiddies, were flown out from Leb through the Rafic Hariri International Airport as part of a project organized by Sant'Egidio Catholic community, the Federation of Evangelical Churches and the Valdese Evangelical Church.
The project has emerged as part of a humanitarian corridor for those fleeing the war torn country.
Reports said that another batch comprising of some seventy refugees are to be flown to Italia in another three weeks.
The program is aimed at the most vulnerable members of asylum-seeking groups -- from single mothers to pregnant women, handicapped people and sick children -- and should see 1,000 people of various nationalities brought to safety in Italia over the next two years, Sant'Egidio says.
Two offices, in Beirut and Tangier in Morocco, were opened before Christmas to begin selecting candidates, with some 80 families already waiting in the Lebanese capital for a passage to Italia.
There are plans for a third office to be opened in Æthiopia in six months if the program is successful, reports say.

The documents also reportedly reveal that the two sides came to an arrangement under which Islamic State fighters would withdraw from a territory before the start of an assault from the Syrian army. The two sides also struck a deal "to trade oil for fertilizer," the report said.
According to Sky, each of these agreements appears to be prearranged, "and suggest direct evidence of collusion between the Syrian regime and Islamic State chiefs."
While the report stated that it would be impossible to verify the authenticity of the information, it said that all previous leaks it received in the same manner "have proved to be genuine."

Shots fired from the Gazoo Strip on Tuesday afternoon struck an IDF vehicle near the northern border with the Paleostinian enclave, the army said in a statement.
No injuries were reported, but heavy army engineering machinery was damaged by the volley, which came hours after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu toured a southern section of the Gazoo frontier.
Troops were searching the area for the attacker, the IDF spokesperson said.
Paleostinian media in the Gazoo Strip reported intense gunfire by Israeli forces near Nahal Oz immediately after the report of shots striking the vehicle.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility from Gazoo, which has seen increased tensions with Israel in recent weeks, with Israeli officials warning of a possible uptick in violence.
The army did not detail what kind of engineering vehicle was struck, but Israel frequently uses earth-moving equipment on the border to dig out and destroy Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, tunnels running under the border.
The incident came several hours after Netanyahu visited the southern part of the Gazoo border with top IDF brass and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, near the site where the army discovered a Hamas tunnel last month.
Earlier in the day, Israel’s Tax Authority said an attempt to smuggle several tons of ammonium chloride into the Gazoo Strip in recent weeks had been foiled by security and customs officials.

Abu Ammar also rejected any Russian role in finding a peaceful end to the years-long conflict.
"How can Russia sponsor a political solution when it is the one killing on the ground," he said. "How can we believe Moscow’s intentions to reach a political settlement in Syria when it continues to assault Syria with bombs."
Abu Ammar said the cessation of hostilities agreement has failed because of the Assad regime’s military escalation.
The agreement was signed in February between the U.S. and Russia, the co-chairs of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG).

[DAWN] MARDAN: A police constable was bumped off outside the boundary wall of the Police Lines here in the early hours of Monday morning, police sources said.
Police officials told news hounds that the victim, identified as Constable Sher Mohammad Khan, was on duty in a security room located adjacent to the boundary wall of Police Lines Mardan.
They said preliminary investigations showed that two suspected snuffies entered the security room at around 2.30am on Monday and shot the constable in his head, killing him on the spot.
Hearing the sound of gunshots, they said, police personnel manning the security checkpost outside the building of Police Lines opened fire on the attackers, but they managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness.
Soon after the attack police personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search operation in localities adjacent to Police Lines.
The counterterrorism department of police has registered an FIR against unidentified attackers.
Later, the funeral prayer for the slain police constable was offered at 11am which was attended by Commissioner of Mardan Zakir Hussain Afridi, DPO Faisal Shehzad, SP Investigation Mohammad Shahid Khan, other officials and elders of the area.

[DAWN] Director General (DG) Rangers Major General Bilal Akber accepted that the dear departed MQM worker was tortured by Rangers in jug and vowed that strict action will be taken against those responsible for misconduct.
Talking to DawnNews on Tuesday night, Akbar accepted that Aftab Ahmed was tortured during custody and the standard operating procedures were not followed by some Rangers personnel in this case.
The DG Rangers assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible for this misconduct but maintained that Aftab's death had occurred due to a heart attack.
The statement comes after pictures and videos were seen doing rounds on the social media, reportedly showing the corpse of the dear departed MQM worker having major torture marks across his body.

[WASHINGTONTIMES] States can impose their own stiff penalties on illegal immigrants colonists -- or others -- who steal someone’s identity in order to get a job, a federal appeals court ruled Monday, upholding Arizona’s strict law and dealing a setback to immigrant rights advocates.
The decision is yet another victory for Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and, more broadly, for Arizona, which has been a pioneer in trying to find ways to punish illegal immigrants colonists, stepping into a void left by the Bush and B.O. regimes.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said that while there are still some questions about how police and prosecutors use the identity theft laws, on their face they do not violate the Constitution, nor do they trample on the federal government’s ability to set national immigration policies.
As long as the laws apply to anyone, including U.S. citizens who steal someone’s identity, they are allowed -- even if the legislature intended them chiefly as a way to strike at one of the symptoms of illegal immigration, the judges said.
"In this case, Arizona exercised its police powers to pass criminal laws that apply equally to unauthorized aliens, authorized aliens, and U.S. citizens," Circuit Judge Richard C. Tallman wrote in the unanimous opinion. "Just because some applications of those laws implicate federal immigration priorities does not mean that the statute as a whole should be struck down."
The identity theft law was one of a series of changes Arizona passed over the last decade to try to put pressure on illegal immigrants colonists.
The Supreme Court has already upheld a state law requiring all businesses to use the federal E-Verify program to check their employees’ work authorization, while the justices split on another law, SB 1070, striking down Arizona’s stiffer penalties against illegal immigrants colonists but upholding the part that orders police to check the legal status of those they encounter in their regular duties, and who they suspect are in the country illegally.

[AA.TR] The terrorist ISIS group has attacked a Turkmen village in northern Iraq with chemical weapons, sources in a pro-government militia said.
"ISISbully boyz have shelled the Bashir village with chemicals," Yalmiz Shehab, a commander of the Shia Hashd al-Shaabi militia, told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday.
According to Shehab, eight people were maimed in the attack, including one seriously.
The Kurdish peshmerga forces and Hashd al-Shaabi Lions of Islam had recaptured the village from ISIS last week.
Shehab said the village has been cleared from all ISIS terrorists.
The village, which has a Turkmen majority, was captured by ISIS in 2014. Most of its residents fled the village and took refuge in Kirkuk, ... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time... only 25 kilometers away.
(IraqiNews.com) Kirkuk – A security source in Kirkuk province said on Tuesday, that an element within al-Hashed al-Sha’bi militia had been killed while defusing an explosive device that was planted by ISIS in the village of Bashir south of the province.
The source said in a statement obtained by IraqiNews.com “Today, one of the elements of al-Hashed al-Sha’bi [militia] tried to dismantle an explosive device that was emplaced by ISIS elements inside one of the houses in Bashir village located in Taza Khurmatu (25 km south of Kirkuk),” noting that “The bomb exploded during the dismantlement, killing him on the spot.”

Clinton boasted at a CNN town hall event in March that she has plans to boost the economy using clean energy resources.
"I'm the only candidate which has a policy about how to bring economic opportunity using clean renewable energy as the key into coal country," she said.
"Because we're going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business," she said with a slight smile. "And we're going to make it clear that we don't want to forget those people. Those people labored in those mines for generations, losing their health, often losing their lives to turn on our lights and power our factories."

[AA.TR] A prosecutor on Tuesday called for a prison sentence of up to 31 years for newspaper editor Can Dundar for revealing state secrets.
Dundar, the editor-in-chief of the Cumhuriyet newspaper and Erdem Gul, the paper’s Ankara bureau chief, are on trial in Istanbul following the publication of images purporting to show arms being transported to Syria in trucks belonging to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... ’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT).
In a legal argument passed to journalists, Prosecutor Evliya Caliskan called for 31-and-a-half years for Dundar and 10 years jail for Gul, who also faces the same charge of "revealing or gathering information belonging to state that should be classified as political or military espionage".
In the argument, the prosecution said: "National and international legal norms show us that just like any other right and freedom, freedom of the press is not limitless and this liberty has its limits".
As examples of foreign media observing state secrecy, the prosecution cited U.S. broadcaster CNN’s refusal to screen information released by spy-turned-whistleblower Edward Snowden and British newspaper The Guardian’s self-imposed limitation on the Snowden data.
Caliskan also revealed espionage charges against the pair were being separated from the trial as it could not be shown they were spying for a specific country. The prosecution had previously sought life sentences against both defendants in a trial that began on March 25 and has largely been held behind closed doors.
The defendants were locked away Please don't kill me! in late November and held in prison until Feb. 26, when the Constitutional Court ruled their rights had been violated and ordered their release.
The case relates to searches carried out on MIT trucks on two occasions in January 2014. In May last year, Cumhuriyet ran a story and images claiming to show the discovery of arms in the Syria-bound trucks.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least seven Taliban Lions of Islam were killed including a commander of the group during a shootout with the Afghan police forces in southern Zabul province.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said at lest four Talibs were also maimed during the clash which took place in Meezan district.
"During an armed conflict between Afghan National Police and armed Taliban, seven armed Taliban were killed including a commander of armed Taliban named Ahmad Agha," the statement said.
"Four other armed Taliban were maimed and no ANP member was harmed," the statement said, adding that the incident took place in Meezan District of Zabul province, yesterday evening.
The anti-government armed turban groups including the Taliban Lions of Islam have not commented regarding the report so far.
Zabul is among the relatively volatile provinces in southern Afghanistan where anti-government armed turban groups are actively operating in a number of its disticts and often carry out insurgency activities.
Insurgents belonging to the Taliban group as well as the Haqqani terrorist network are active in this province.
A commander of the Haqqani terrorist network was killed during an Arclight airstrike by the Afghan Air Force late last month.

Al shabaab said it fired several mortar rounds at a military base belonging to the African Union mission known as (AMISOM) in the capital, Mogadishu.
The mortar attack was successful as the shells landed inside the AMISOM’s Halane base at Mogadishu airport, said a report published on pro-al shabaab website, citing top commander.
Al shabaab said it will give further details on the casualties inflicted on AMISOM soldiers in Halane as a result of the mortar bombs.
Meanwhile, AMISOM spokesman Joe Kibet, told Radio Shabelle by phone that the shells landed outside the troops’ base and caused no casualties.

[DAWN] PESHAWAR: At least 18 people were maimed when unidentified attackers lobbed a hand grenade at a mosque in the limits of Tehkal cop shoppe late on Sunday.
Local people and police officials told Dawn that the incident took place around midnight, when 25 persons were busy in having dinner in the main hall of Baitul Mukaram mosque after attending a sermon in Tehkal Bala area.
They said that unidentified attackers threw a hand grenade inside the mosque and also fired shots in the air.
Mumtaz Ali, a local resident whose elder brother sustained injuries in the attack, told Dawn that the incident took place at around 11:30pm. He said that they rushed to the mosque after hearing a loud bang and saw that injured were lying on the floor.
Mr Ali said that they shifted the injured to the hospital. He said that they also heard shots following the blast. However, some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them... he said that they did not see any attacker.
SP Abbas Majeed Marwat told Dawn that it was not an extortion related incident. He said that the mosque belonged to Ahle Hadith sect and their religious gathering was targeted with a hand grenade.
The official said that apparently there were at least seven to eight attackers, riding three to four cycle of violences. The assailants managed to escape after the attack, he added.
Mr Marwat said that the attackers also fired shots after lobbing the grenade at the mosque as police recovered spent casing of 30 bore and 9mm from the scene. He said that one of the attackers was taken into custody in injured condition. He said that the attacker was probably injured mistakenly by his accomplices.
The injured were taken to Khyber Teaching Hospital and Hayatabad Medical Complex.
Sources said that the attacker, who sustained head injury, was first shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex and later taken to CMH.

However, some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go... five people -- including a child -- were killed when a boat sank off the Greek island of Samos in the Aegean on April 9.

Speaking at his Justice and Development (AK) Party’s parliamentary group meeting in Ankara on Tuesday, Davutoglu accused the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) of "defending the violence that targets our people" and "trying to implement it" in parliament.
On Monday, a Turkish parliamentary commission experienced the latest episode of fighting, with MPs exchanging punches over legal amendments which could see some deputies’ immunity from prosecution taken away.
The commission later approved a bill to remove such immunity from nearly a quarter of the country’s 560 politicians.
Davutoglu accused the HDP of continuing to speak for "a bloody organization" -- a reference to the PKK.
He also accused HDP members of parliament of "attacking our politicians to block the process" of removing immunity from MPs facing criminal charges.
Davutoglu said these MPs were trying to show the Turkish parliament as a place of "fights and chaos".

[AA.TR] Hundreds of Muslim families were evacuated from their temporary homes early Tuesday after a fierce blaze broke out in an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Myanmar’s western Rakhine State.
A senior police officer told Anadolu Agency by phone that the fire destroyed 56 wooden homes in the squalid Baw Du Pha camp near Rakhine's capital Sittwe, where around 10,000 people, mostly Rohingya Muslims, have been living for almost four years.
"It started around 9 a.m. (0230GMT) and lasted for about 1-1/2 hours," said the officer, who requested not to be named as he was not authorized to talk to media.
"No casualty or injury was reported so far."
He added that those staying in the camp were "Bengali" -- a term used by to refer to "Rohingya," that suggests the ethnicity is not from Myanmar as they claim but interlopers from neighboring Bangladesh.
According to a website report by Eleven Media, one of the occupants of the homes remains missing.
The Rohingya have lived in the camp since 2012, when Buddhist rioters rampaged through villages in Sittwe, torching Rohingya houses and attacking people with machetes and other crude weapons.

QUETTA: Five police personnel were wounded in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Quetta's Eastern Bypass area on Tuesday, police sources said.
A contingent of police were patrolling the area in a mobile van when they were targeted through an IED, they said.
Five police officials were left injured in the blast, which left the police vehicle damaged.
The injured personnel were rushed to Civil Hospital Quetta for treatment. Doctors described condition of one of the injured as critical.
Police and Frontier Corps personnel reached the blast site, as an investigation into the incident went underway.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. Militants in the area have been targeting security forces in the past.
Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest but least developed province, has remained under the grip of violence for over a decade which has claimed thousands of lives.

Dabon added, “The joint security forces were able to dismantle 200 explosive devices in the eastern axis of Heet District, as well as destroying a 23 mm machine gun and a rocket launcher.”

An ISIS occupation is usually imbued with a humanitarian catastrophe
Sirte is a humanitarian catastrophe, according to a resident who managed to leave three days ago and get to Tripoli.
There are dire shortages of food, money and medicine – and the situation, together with fears of an imminent attack by the Libyan National Army or Misratan-led forces, or both, is pushing the town’s remaining residents to flee, the Libya Herald has been told.
According to the resident, the so-called Islamic State (IS/Daesh) which controls the town, has now set up a women’s unit who have ben going round house to check to see if people have satellite TV or any printed material that could be deemed haram.
Moreover, anyone now wanting to leave Sirte abandon all their belongings, the resident said. IS has said that those leaving everything behind. “If they leave, Daeash confiscates everything. They sell the TVs, the electronic goods, anything they can remove. They want the money.”
Given the situation, most people in Sirte were desperate to leave, he added. “But once they have decided to flee, they must lose everything.”
Meanwhile, the Libyan news agency LANA has confirmed earlier reports that IS gunmen had closed roads to the east, west and south of Sirte. Filling them with sand barriers.

Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants armed with rocket launchers and rifles attacked a military outpost in southeast Turkey, triggering a clash in which two Turkish soldiers and five PKK fighters were killed, the military said on Tuesday.
The attack was launched in the Semdinli district of Hakkari province, which borders Iraq and Iran, at 5:35 pm (1435 GMT) on Monday, the armed forces statement said.

2 die in bomb attack in Yusufiya area
(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A source in the Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday, that ten people had been either killed or wounded in a bomb blast in southern Baghdad.
The source said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “This morning, a bomb exploded near a fruits and vegetables market in Yusufiya area in southern Baghdad, killing two people and wounding eight others.”
The source, who asked anonymity, added, “A security force rushed to the area and transferred the wounded to a nearby hospital for treatment and the dead bodies to the forensic medicine department, while cordoned off the area of the incident.”
(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A source in the Iraqi police said on Tuesday, that three soldiers had been injured in a bomb blast that took place south of Baghdad.
The source, who requested anonymity, said in a brief statement received by IraqiNews.com, “This evening, an explosive device that was emplaced on the road side in the vicinity of al-Rashid, south of Baghdad, went off while an army patrol was passing in the area, resulting in the injury of three soldiers.”
“A security force blockaded the area of the incident, while ambulances transferred the injured to a nearby hospital to receive the necessary medical treatment.”
[DAWN] Improved sea conditions are permitting the Italian navy to resume a complex operation to recover a sunken fishing boat with the bodies of hundreds of migrants colonists inside.
Navy vessels are set to head Wednesday to the site of the April 2015 shipwreck, in which the immense loss of life spurred Europe to step up patrols of the Mediterranean, where Libyan-based smugglers launch overcrowded boats on risky voyages toward Italia's shores.
The boat is located 85 miles (130 kilometers) from the Libyan coastline and sank 370 meters (1,200 feet) after it capsized just as a fat merchantman was coming to the migrants colonists' rescue.
Italian Premier Matteo Renzi has vowed Italia will do everything possible to retrieve the bodies and try to identify them. Navy divers over several months already recovered 169 bodies found near the wreckage.
The navy said Tuesday a 30-meter (100-foot) -long barge will be used to bring the wreck to a port in Sicily once it is raised with the help of a specially designed robotic apparatus. Firefighters will then enter the wreck in the port to retrieve the bodies.
Survivors said as many as 800 people were trapped inside.
Forensic experts will examine the corpses, in hopes that a Europe-wide network of information will lead to identification, the navy said.
Not infrequently, families of migrants colonists inform authorities that loved-ones never arrived after setting out in a smugglers' boat.

Agree with P2k. It is a grave at 1200 ft depth. Besides what is the point of such an expense for the Italian govt? The smugglers got their money from desperate rubes. Smugglers don't care what happens to them. Maybe people will think twice about taking a trip to Davey Jones' Locker with these guys.

He has no specifics and yet he expects people to accept what he says as proven fact and with the MSM to cover for him he gets away with it. But it's a weak, unsubstantiated allegation with no facts behind it...just like Baraq himself is a weak, unsubstantiated little man. [DAWN] Pakistain Peoples Party (PPP) big shot Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, briefing the media on Tuesday after a meeting conducted by opposition parties to decide the Terms of Reference (ToR), said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Regarding the formation of an inquiry commission, Ahsan said a special act would be drafted, the Panama Papers Inquiry and Trial Act, under which the inquiry commission would be formed ─ under the supervision of the chief justice ─ to investigate the prime minister and his family in three months.
The prime minister and his family should be probed in an international investigation in to the matter, stated the PPP leader.
He added that all foreign assets, how they were obtained, how much tax was paid, which year they were bought in and what funds were used in their purchase needs to be investigated.
All opposition parties have rejected the ToRs announced by the government, but only the Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf ...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations.... has threatened to resort to "street agitation" if ToRs were not finalised in consultation with opposition parties.

[AA.TR] Cautious calm has prevailed in northwestern Syria’s Latakia province and capital Damascus following a lull in fighting declared by the U.S. and Russia.
"No festivities were reported in Latakia’s northern countryside and Eastern Ghouta since Friday," local sources told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday.
According to the sources, who spoke to Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity because of safety concerns, regime forces and opposition fighters in the Jabal al-Akrad and the Turkmen Mountain areas have largely respected the lull.
The two sides, however, have carried out mortar attacks now and then, the sources said.
Last week, Moscow and Washington brokered a temporary lull in fighting in some parts of Syria.

A grand jury on Monday indicted Ariel Agudio, Asha Burwell and Alexis Briggs, all 20, each on a charge of third-degree assault and multiple counts of falsely reporting an incident, the Albany District Attorney's Office said. That will make people feel sorry for you.
Agudio and Burwell also face charges of harassment. Agudio also was charged with two counts of attempted assault. Perhaps they will give you money.
The State University of New York at Albany rallied behind the students, who are black, when they came forward with claims that a group of white men and women attacked them on January 30 in a confrontation on a city bus. Students held a rally and university President Robert J. Jones said in a letter to students and faculty that he was "deeply concerned, saddened and angry about this incident." It gets you bonus points in college, too.
Others came to their defense on social media using the hashtag #DefendBlackGirlsUAlbany. The People of Color Caucus issued a letter in support of them. Letters of support from the People of Color Caucus go into your permanent record.
But university police said an investigation revealed that no one used racial epithets against the women. Instead, they assaulted another passenger and falsely reported the incident. Oh. You mean they beat somebody else up and tried to blame them when they fought back?
"What happened on the bus was not a 'hate crime,'" University Police Chief Frank Wiley said in February. "The only person we heard uttering racial epithets was one of the defendants." So it actually was a hate crime, just not the direction they claimed.
Attorneys for the three women did not return CNN's calls requesting comment Monday afternoon. We're expecting to hear about the strongly worded letter from the Colorless People Caucus to go into their permanent records.
Looking at the pictures of the three at the site, the one in the middle's black. The one on the right, with green eyes, looks like Mom or Pop might be white, and the one on the left looks like she might "identify" as black. I wonder if they show the same nasty degree of truculence with their white relatives?

In regard to reports that al-Sadr had recently visited Iran, al-Asadi asserted: "If these reports are correct -- I have no information about it -- I don’t know why the visit has caused such a fuss".
"Al-Sadr has relatives in Beirut and Iran who he visits occasionally, not to mention the political, social and religious contacts he has in many countries," al-Asadi added. "What’s the problem?"
On Saturday, thousands of al-Sadr’s supporters forced their way into Baghdad’s heavily-fortified Green Zone and occupied the Iraqi parliament building before withdrawing the following day.
In recent months, al-Sadr supporters have staged several mass demonstrations in Baghdad with a view to pressing Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi to appoint a government of "technocrats" untainted by corruption or sectarian affiliations.

Beirut- The Syrian Army, on Tuesday, backing the Russian statement announced that the approach for a calmer state-of –affairs, the temporary truce, would be extended another 48 hours for the vicinity of Damascus.
Sergei Kurylenko, head of the Russian coordination center in Syria, on Tuesday spoke of extending the ceasefire to the eastern Ghouta region, so that it lasts until Tuesday midnight.
The Free Syrian Army (FSA) on the other hand, considered that the Syrian regime’s promoted truce is merely media talk with no tangible evidence. The FSA, a part of the Syrian opposition, says the truce is being advertised solely in an attempt to manipulate the ceasefire agreement by running sideline accords.
FSA leadership revealed that Syrian President Assad’s forces attempt on attacking FSA-controlled areas in the eastern Ghouta region.
This is the second prolongation consequent to the one previously announced on Sunday in which the ceasefire was employed for a 24-hour period in the capital city of Damascus. Cessation of hostilities had begun last Friday and included Damascus and the overlooking region of eastern Ghouta. The statement announced had not addressed ceasefire which was defined by a 72-hour window for the northern coastal Latakia governorate.
Legal FSA Adviser Osama Abu Zaid considered that the leeway on the truce announced in terms of hours at different periods translates into the regime attempting to invest the truce in other places.
Abu Zaid pointed out that previous ceasefires have not gotten the Syrian President Assad what he desired; especially that he was restricted, given that operations are to be ultimately limited to areas overrun with ISIS and Al-Nusra Front factions.
Despite the previously set agreement – cracking down on ISIS and Al-Nusra Front only- it was later revealed that the Syrian Army’s operations deliberately targeted FSA dominated areas.
In his statement to Asharq AL-Awsat newspaper, Abu Zaid confirmed that the regime has halted all military operations across certain battlefronts, withdrawing units and dispatching them to fight in other fronts.
“The Syrian regime works based on Russian decision, since Russians are the ones who outline its agenda, while the Syrian Army alongside affiliated militias handle its execution,” Abu Zaid added.
Backing the theory on the truce being only words with no action, Abu Zaid said that the southern front is currently calm simply because the regime was rendered unable to strike, for it is absorbed with its priority on attending the Aleppo battlefront.
Furthermore, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that two mortar bombs were dropped after midnight, early Monday, over the town of Mesraba, located in the eastern Ghouta region.
The observatory confirmed that the military helicopters pounded the outskirts of Khan al-Shih, located in the western Ghouta region. The town was reportedly buffeted with over six explosive barrels, with no registered human loss. At the same time, Al-Nusra Front has opened sniper fire on FSA ambulances patrolling el-Marg region, located in the eastern region of Ghouta, which led to the death of one FSA member.

The real estate mogul will collect at least 45 of Indiana's 57 delegates, and now needs less than 200 more in upcoming contests.
Cruz, who hasn't topped Trump in a month, campaigned vigorously in Indiana, securing the endorsement of the state's governor and announcing businesswoman Carly Fiorina as his running mate. But he appeared to lose momentum in the final days of campaigning and let his frustration with Trump boil over Tuesday, calling the billionaire "amoral" and a "braggadocious, arrogant buffoon."
Trump responded by saying Cruz "does not have the temperament to be president of the United States." Earlier Tuesday Trump had rehashed unsubstantiated claims that the Texan's father, Rafael Cruz, appeared in a 1963 photograph with John F. Kennedy's assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald -- citing a report first published by the National Enquirer.
Cruz has vowed to stay in the race through the final primaries in June, clinging to the possibility that Trump will fall short of the 1,237 delegates he needs and the race will go to a contested convention. But he now could face pressure from donors and other Republicans to at least tone down in attacks on Trump in an attempt to unite the GOP heading into the general election.

Sanders is not an option. My prediction: Right before the convention, she will have a "health scare" and remove herself from the race. Joe Biden and Liz Warren will swoop in with her blessing to grab the nomination. For her efforts, she will receive a pardon allowing the dems to have the first female in office (VP), and a Champ 3rd term.
This also circumvents all the research the Pubs are doing on her and will not have time to build a case against "Gropie Joe"

Hannity has made this suggestion some time ago and Newt has not responded but with Trump showing so much support from the American people from all walks of life I think he could be drawn into the fray. However, if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well... Hekmatyar stepped back from his demands for the complete withdrawal of foreign forces with an official of Hezb-e-Islami Amin Karim Hekmatyar is no longer demanding that all foreign troops leave Afghanistan.
The softening stance by Hekmatyar followed days after the representatives of the party said there will be no compromise on women’s rights if two sides agreed to strike a deal.
Earlier, it was reported that the party is seeking to become a government partner by seeking positions in civil and security institutions.

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli recalled remarks by Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu delivered last week when he said Turkey and the United States had agreed on a new military action to push extremist jihadists away from the Turkish border by deploying U.S. missiles with a 90-kilometer range on the front line and intensifying the aerial campaign.
“As we respond to the rockets and missiles of ISIL [the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant] with howitzers while not being able to even fly one of our aircraft, the shape of the mentioned support is a mystery,” Bahçeli said on May 3.
“In our opinion, the reports about granting a base at İncirlik to Germany are another unfavorable … issue. In his way, the reason why Merkel has been coming to Turkey frequently has become clear. The German prime minister’s visit to refugee camps is nothing but a cover-up for the real intention,” he said, addressing the parliamentary group meeting of his party.
“As far as can be seen, Merkel has been using monetary resources along with visa exemption as a carrot in order to get settled at İncirlik,” he added.
Last week, German magazine Der Spiegel reported that Germany was planning on building a fixed location, with a command post, aviation area, guesthouse and care facility on the İncirlik base, where it has already deployed Tornado jets and an aerial refueling jet along with around 200 soldiers. It claimed that the overall cost of the building was around 65 million euros.
It's a small point, but if the Turks want the visa liberalization they have to give the Germans something in return. It's how the game is played.
Turkish military sources have denied the claims, saying the German government only wanted to construct a “guesthouse” of 400 people for the roughly 200 military staff who came to İncirlik for the reconnaissance Tornado jets at the base.

There were clashes today in the town of Zillah, 400 kilometres south east of Sirte, between forces said to linked to the Libyan National Army and those of Ziyad Belaam, the leader of Benghazi’s Omar Mukhtar Brigade.
Reports have also been circulating of air strikes against the LNA forces. Officials in Misrata this evening would neither confirm nor deny them. However, one told the Libya Herald said that some of the wounded from Belaam’s forces would shortly arrive in the city for treatment.
Belaam commands the largely Islamist Omar Mukhtar Brigade which as part of the Benghazi Revolutionaries’ Shoura Council has been fighting the LNA in Benghazi for the past two years. He, however, went to Turkey for treatment after being shot in September 2014. Since his return he has not been back to Benghazi, moving instead between Misrata, Tripoli, the Jufra district (of which Zillah is a part) and, reportedly, Sabratha.
According to the Misratan official, today’s clashes did not involve the mainstream LNA. He claimed that Belaam’s men had targeted fighters from the Sudanese rebel Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) which was now working with the LNA and who had moved into the area. They had been discovered by a Belaam patrol this morning, he said. He added that following fighting, Belaam’s men had pulled back but had managed to capture 10 vehicles from JEM.
In February, however, the LNA was reported to have attacked and inflicted serious damages on a JEM unit some 200 kilometres north of Kufra. JEM forces, who were used by Qaddafi during the revolution have been operating in Libya since being largely crushed in Sudan’s Darfur province.
For his part, Colonel Ahmed Mesmari, the LNA’s spokesman, claimed that those who attacked Zillah today were the rump of terrorists who had fled Benghazi recently. He said that the LNA was in the town and had forced them to retreat some 30 kilometres away from it.
Other reports also speak of LNA forces now in control of the Zillah following today’s clashes, although photos claiming to show LNA vehicles in the town, show a motely collection of vehicles that would more usually be associated with an irregular militia.
There have been reports in recent days of both pro-LNA forces (in particularly Tuareg fighters) and pro-Misrata units heading towards Jufra to take part in separately planned operations to strike Sirte from the south.
The mainstream LNA forces are said to be blocked outside Ajdabiya, although a source with Ibrahim Jadhran said that some had arrived in the town. Jadhran, however, is reported to have set conditions for the LNA to pass through Ajdabiya.
With both LNA and Misratan forces looking to be the first to liberate Sirte, there have been fears that both could end fighting each other to stop them reaching the town.

[COURIER-JOURNAL] A Jefferson County Circuit judge on Monday issued a restraining order to block removal of the controversial Confederate monument near the University of Louisville.
"You can't just erase history by tearing down monuments. That's what the Taliban does, that's what ISIS does. We don't do that in America."
Judge Judith McDonald-Burkman issued the order Monday morning against Mayor Greg Fischer and metro government, barring them from moving, disassembling or otherwise tampering with the 70-foot-tall monument.
GOP congressional hopeful Everett Corley filed the temporary restraining order in Jefferson Circuit Court to stop Fischer and U of L President James Ramsey from removing the monument from the school's campus. Also listed as plaintiffs are the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Kentucky Division, and its "Chief of Heritage Defense," and political activist Ed Springston.
A hearing is set for Thursday at 10:30 a.m. to consider their motion for a full temporary injunction.
"This restraining order is about respecting veterans," said Corley, a real estate agent, who argued it was the "equivalent of a book burning" and smacked of political correctness gone awry.
Jefferson County Attorney Mike O'Connell said he would fight the restraining order, which he said took him by surprise. He said no one from his office was at the hearing, and his office is seeking a continuance so that lawyers have more time to prepare for the hearing on the full injunction. A hearing on that motion is set for Tuesday morning.
"We'll obviously comply with whatever those orders are ... but we will move to immediately set this aside," he said. "This is a question of law and a question of facts. I'm not over here to politically grandstand like this gentleman is," he said, referring to Corley.
Thomas McAdam, an attorney for the plaintiffs, said the suit is based on several arguments in hopes of turning the order into a permanent injunction to keep the monument in place.
He said the basis of the lawsuit is that the mayor violated several laws, including not going through proper local, state and federal laws including historic preservation procedures. Because of the monument's placement on the national register of historic places, he said, notifications and hearings are required. The suit argues the move also violates the Kentucky Military Heritage Act and other state laws.
"We expect our elected officials to follow the law. The mayor has not followed the law," he said. "All we want is a fair hearing, all we want is to let the people know that this is part of our heritage, and you can't just erase history by tearing down monuments. That's what the Taliban does, that's what ISIS does. We don't do that in America."

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) -- Monday -- SDSU President Elliot Hirshman sat down with students Monday to discuss the email response he sent following an incident where anti-Muslim fliers were posted all over campus.
The two-hour meeting came after a protest last week in which students surrounded the car of SDSU President Elliot Hirshman, criticizing what they believed was a tepid response to posters displayed on campus that identified by name seven students who allegedly allied themselves with Palestinian terrorists and promote hatred of Jews.
Following the meeting, SDSU issued a joint statement under the names of Hirshman, Vice President of Student Affairs Eric Rivera, student leader Mustafa Alemi, Osama Alkhawaja and Rachel Beck of Students for Justice in Palestine and other university officials.
The statement said the participants agreed on some issues and disagreed on others.
"We agree it is critical to protect all members of our university community from harassment as specified in our university Senate policies,'' the statement reads. "We agree we are committed to the safety of all members of our community. We also agree on the fundamental importance of freedom of expression.''
Creating the "appropriate balance between freedom of expression and protecting members of our community from harassment,'' as in the case of the fliers, poses a "significant'' challenge, the statement says.
The meeting attendees agreed that in cases of racism, islamophobia, misogyny, homophobia and other forms of bigotry, "we abhor the content of such expressions, even as we recognize the protected status of these expressions,'' according to the statement.
They also said they re-affirm their commitment to "supporting an environment that fosters meaningful dialogue and mutual respect.''
At the bottom of the fliers that contained the student names was a link to the Horowitz Freedom Center, the organization run by David Horowitz, who is scheduled to speak Thursday at SDSU on combating anti-Semitism on college campuses.
"The parties have agreed that in collaboration with (the Associated Students) and under the aegis of the university Senate, they will undertake a review of university policies to ensure we are balancing freedom of expression and protection from harassment,'' the statement says.
Wednesday -- Students at San Diego State University rallied Wednesday to protest President Elliot Hirshman for an email he sent to the SDSU community in response to the David Horowitz Freedom Project, who specifically called several students terrorists and terrorist sympathizers.
CAIR claims the David Horowitz Freedom Project placed flyers around campus, specifically mentioning the Muslim Student Association and Students for Justice in Palestine as being associated with terrorism and terrorists.
According to CAIR's Facebook page, in the email President Hirshman stated that students who are activists must accept that their actions have consequences and that people have a right to free speech.

If the one guy on the flyer was falsely identified or whatever he should sue the maker of the flyer and make a lot of money. Since that is not possible because the flyer is correct they will instead go after the weekest link and intimidate the University President.
[DAWN] The US State Department has said that Pakistain will have to pay from its own funds if it wants to buy F-16 fighter jets.
Pakistain had earlier reached an understanding with the US for buying eight F-16 planes. Under the deal, Pakistain was required to pay about $270m from its national funds. The US was supposed to provide the rest from its Foreign Military Financing (FMF) fund.
But at a congressional hearing on Wednesday, US politicians made it clear that they would not allow the B.O. regime to use US funds for the deal.
On Friday, a State Department official told Dawn that Congress had placed a hold on the deal, forbidding the administration from using US funds for enabling Pakistain to buy the planes.

Pakistain Air Force's (PAF) share is $80 million, which they had allocated for the last three years to buy the jets, added Aziz.
"The funding we received was part of normal military funding received from US, and not specifically meant for the purchase of F-16s. The US has informed us that we can use the funds for purchase of other military equipment and items, but not F-16s."

According to MoD, four armed holy warriors were killed and four maimed and five suspects were arrested as a result of a separate joint Afghan Defense and Security forces operations in Khas Uruzgan district of Uruzgan province, Dand-e-Ghori of Baghlan, and Khan Abad district of Kunduz.
"Afghan National Army as National Defense Forces for the protection of people’s lives and properties and for defeating and eradicating terror groups, will fight the enemies vigorously and are ready to give scarifies for bringing lasting peace and stability to people," the update added.
The Talibs group has not commented regarding the report so far.

Administration insiders quickly began asking if Percoco -- whose career and relationship with the governor goes back to the days of Gov. Mario Cuomo -- could have, as Sherlocks suspect, illegally pocketed some $150,000 from contractors without Cuomo knowing about it.

[AA.TR] Egypt's prosecutor-general on Tuesday issued a gag order on a police raid on the press syndicate which resulted in the arrest of two journalists.
On Sunday, police broke into the Journalists' Syndicate in central Cairo, arresting two journalists on charges of inciting protests and plotting to overthrow the ruling regime.
The raid has, however, provoked a firestorm from journalists, who staged a sit-in amid calls for sacking the interior minister.
In a statement, the public prosecutor’s office said the raid was meant to carry out an arrest warrant on the two journalists.
The prosecution said that a gag order was issued into the case until investigation of the arrests is completed.
Earlier Tuesday, the Press Syndicate decided to lower its flag and replace it with black banners to protest the police raid, in a move that coincided with World Press Freedom Day.

[AA.TR] Authorities in Kenya on Tuesday said that they had foiled a major bio-terror attack in the East African country after arresting three people who were plotting the attacks planned for April 29, with four of the plotters still on the lam.
"Following police investigations into a terror plot by an East African-based terror network with links to ISIS, police incarcerated Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please! Mohammed Abdi Ali, a medical intern," said Joseph Boinett, Kenya’s inspector general of police, in a statement, using an alternative acronym for the terrorist ISIS group.
Ali and other medical experts are said to have been planning to unleash a biological attack using anthrax.
Since the arrest of Ali and two others, four other accomplices, all medical interns, have gone into hiding, and authorities in Kenya have placed a 2 million Kenya shillings bounty on their heads.
Ali, an intern from Woe hospital in Kenya's Makueni county, is said to have graduated from Kampala University before coming to Kenya, where he formed a terrorist recruiting ring.
The Kenyan authorities added that their investigations found that the terror ring with connections in Syria and Somalia had been involved in recruiting university students and other Kenyan young people.
"The terror network was planning a large-scale attack akin to the [2013] Westgate Mall attack with the intention of killing innocent Kenyans," Boinett said.

Yemeni peace consultations in Kuwait ended two days ago due to the rebels continuously violating the truce and their control over the “Giants Brigade” in the governorate of Amran. These proposals necessitate “the withdrawal of the rebels from the camp and the return of the weapons that were looted”. Jabbari added that “In this case, we will be positive.
