Comey compares himself to Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury
[USA Today] James Comey likened himself to a priest who was assassinated in the 12th century as he described how he believed President Trump felt about him.

Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, asked whether Comey interpreted certain phrases from the president of the United States, such as "I hope" or "I suggest," as directives.

"Yes. It kind of rings in my ears as, 'Will no one rid me of this meddlesome priest?'" Comey replied.

Comey was quoting a well-known saying from Henry II. Back in 1170, the king of England was years into a quarrel with Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury, over the rights of the church. Henry II is often quoted as saying, "Will no one rid of me of this turbulent priest?" His men interpreted this as the king wanting Becket dead. Soon after, Becket was assassinated.

Becket was later venerated as a saint.

#2  This falls far far below 'obstruction'.

However, sadly, Trump still does not understand the way the govt is supposed to work (i.e, with independent agencies, independent judiciary, etc.

The Trump Organization being privately held, doesn't have a board of directors that reviews the Chairman and CEO's work, doesn't have public stockholders and operates almost completely top down. Obama also had problems in this but not because he didn't understand, but because he worked to bypass the checks and balances.

#7  Okay, is he saying Trump said "I hope" or "I suggest" to him? That would make him one of Becket's murders, not Becket.

If Trump said those comments publicly, is Comey suggesting the President was inciting someone to get drunk and murder him with a sword?

Comey asked a 'friend' to leak POTUS memos to a reporter in hopes it would prompt special counsel appointment
[LA Times] Former FBI Director James Comey said he asked a friend to alert the press that he had documented his interactions with President Trump, believing such a disclosure would force the appointment of a special prosecutor.

He told lawmakers it was "important" to get the information out.

Comey only described the friend as a professor at Columbia Law School, but the person is believed to be Daniel Richman, a former federal prosecutor and consultant to the Department of Justice and the Department of the Treasury on federal criminal matters.
Bullshi* statement of the day follows:
"I asked him to because I thought that might prompt the appointment of a special prosecutor," Comey said.
Documents pertaining to privileged communication(s) with POTUS leaked (through a cutout) to academia and the media? Propaganda arm of the Deep State, the NYT? Were there other documents leaked as well? How very interesting.
It did. The day after the first media reports about the memos surfaced, a special prosecutor was appointed by the Department of Justice.

Comey worried Donald Trump might lie to him, so he took notes.
[Breitbart] Thursday during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing, former FBI Director James Comey said he kept detailed notes about his discussions with President Donald Trump because he "was honestly concerned that he might lie about the nature of our meeting."

Comey said, "A combination of things. I think the circumstances the subject matter and the person I was interacting with. Circumstances first, I was alone with the president of the United States, or the president-elect, soon to be president. The subject matter, I was talking about matters that touch on the FBI’s core responsibility and relate to the president-elect personally. And then the nature of the person. I was honestly concerned he might lie about the nature of our meeting so I thought it really important to document. That combination of things I never experienced before but it led me to believe I have to write it down and I have to write it down in a very detailed way."

No 'notes' on FBI discussions with the Hildebeest. How strange.

CNN issues correction after Comey statement contradicts reporting
Lying Liars Who Lie
CNN has corrected a Tuesday report after the release of former FBI Director James Comey's opening statement for his Thursday testimony in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee contradicted the reports' sources.

The CNN report said Comey was expected to dispute President Trump's claims that Comey said he was not under investigation on multiple occasions.

The report, titled "Comey expected to refute Trump," was based on unnamed sources and said Comey's conversations with the president "were much more nuanced," and that Trump drew the wrong conclusion.

The story was complied by four CNN journalists, including Gloria Borger, Eric Lichtblau, Jake Tapper and Brian Rokus.

Borger reiterated the reports claims in an appearance on CNN Tuesday.
"But other than being totally wrong on that main point, we stand by the rest...errr....umm. Nevermind"

‘Cow vigilantes' attack cattle transporters in India
[RT] So-called Hindu ‘cow vigilantes’ set on preventing cattle from being slaughtered attacked a transport convey in India, hospitalizing five Muslim workers, of whom one later died.

Pehlu Khan, 55, and his companions were reportedly targeted after they fell under suspicion of smuggling cows through Rajasthan, a northern Indian state where cow trafficking is illegal.

The attackers were affiliated with Vishwa Hindu Parishad, a right-wing nationalist organization, and its youth wing, Bajrang Dal, according to Ramesh Chand Sinsinwar, a Behror police official.

The men “stopped four vehicles... on Saturday evening, alleging that they were illegally transporting bovines...” Sinsinwar told the Indian Express.

Probe into Stockholm truck attack that killed 5 to last until end of year
A Swedish investigator says the probe into the April 7 attack when a stolen truck rammed into a crowd in downtown Stockholm, killing five and injuring 14, will last until the end of the year.

Christer Nilsson says he expects that formal charges against the suspect, a 39-year-old Uzbek man, will be ready after that — "give or take a couple of months."

Lawyers for Rakhmat Akilov say he has admitted driving the truck 1,100 meters (3,600 feet) down a main pedestrian shopping street.

Nilsson said Thursday that 65 people are working on the case and 1,279 people have been questioned, adding that one reason for the lengthy probe is the number of victims.

Device explodes at US Embassy in Kiev in reported terrorist act; no injuries
An attacker threw an explosive device over the fence of the U.S. Embassy in Kiev that detonated in the early hours on Thursday, Reuters reported.

There were no injuries, according to the report. Authorities called the incident a terrorist act.

Authorities in Kiev said in a statement that the incident occurred at 12:05 a.m. local time, and occurred at the U.S. Embassy compound in the Shevchenko district.

"It was determined that an unknown assailant threw an unidentified explosive device onto the grounds of the diplomatic mission. Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Art. 258 (Terrorist Act) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," the statement read, according to The Mirror.

The U.S. Department of State issued a travel warning in 2016 for U.S. citizens in Ukraine. The statement read, “The situation in Ukraine is unpredictable and could change quickly.”

Home Security robot also vacuums
LG's newest Hom-Bot robotic vacuum, available this month, merges cleaning and home security into one smartphone-controlled system.

In addition to sweeping up dust and crumbs, the Hom-Bot has front and top-facing cameras that can be accessed through its app at any time. In a true representation of the "smart" vacuum, once it's become accustomed to your home, the Hom-Bot will also automatically snap photos and message them to you if it detects movement in an area of the home or at a time of the day when activity is unusual.

Presenting the Hom-Bot as a competitor to smart vacuums on the market, most notably iRobot's Roomba, LG has added several defining features that set it apart from its competition.

FLASHBACK : Robert Gates Said He Felt Pressured to Swear Loyalty to Obama
Critics of President Trump say that asking a high ranking official like former FBI Director James Comey for loyalty is unprecedented for a U.S. president.

But Obama Defense Secretary Robert Gates told CBS News anchor John Dickerson last month he had a discussion about loyalty with Obama at the beginning of his first term, the Ace of Spades blog notes.

"In the reporting about the F.B.I. director, there was a report that the president asked him for his loyalty. Help people understand the line between duty, loyalty, and personal conscience," Dickerson said.

Gates replied, "I think in the context of senior government positions, I think an anecdote of what I told President-Elect Obama when we had our first meeting. And I said, ’You don’t know me. Can you trust me? Why do you think you can trust me?’ and so on. But at the end, I said, ’You can count on me to be loyal to you. I will not leak. I will keep my disagreements with you private. And if I cannot be loyal, I’ll leave.’"

Gates went on to say, "Loyalty means doing what you think is in the best interest of that person as well as the country. And often, that loyalty means telling them things they don’t want to hear. It’s not being sycophantic, it’s not telling them how wonderful they are every day. It’s being willing to tell them the days they’re not wonderful. And when you think they’re making a mistake."

However, CBS News anchor Bob Schieffer in 2014 accused Gates of not being loyal to the president, according to Gates’s memoir, Newsbusters noted.

"I think there’s a certain loyalty to the presidency. And I think when you make it harder for a president while he is still in office I think -- I have problems with that," Schieffer said.

Trump Admin Offers to Mediate Middle East crisis after Arab Nations Reject Qatar
[Free Beacon] The Trump administration is offering to mediate a percolating crisis in the Middle East that has seen several key Arab nations break relations with Qatar, a top U.S. military ally that has played a central role in American counter-terrorism operations, according to multiple U.S. officials who spoke to the Washington Free Beacon about the situation.

Major Arab nations, led by Saudi Arabia, announced this week that they are ceasing formal ties with Qatar over its continued funding of radical terrorism groups, including Hamas and others.

The announcement took Washington by surprise and sparked concerns that the move could negatively impact American-backed counter-terrorism operations in the region, many of which are coordinated via the U.S.-operated Al Udeid Air Base in Doha.

1st Responders: Seth Rich was 'critical' in our ambulance and talking
[WND] WASHINGTON ‐ It’s perhaps the simplest question in the Seth Rich murder mystery that everyone involved in the case won’t answer: What hospital admitted and treated the DNC staffer before a physician pronounced him dead on that fateful morning of July 10, 2016?

Now emergency responders, along with police and two local hospitals, are refusing to answer that basic question.

And the D.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has reportedly refused to release Rich’s autopsy report.

WND asked officials with the D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department which local hospital its ambulance transported Rich to ‐ MedStar Washington Hospital Center or Howard University Hospital. Both hospitals are located within a one- to two-mile radius of the shooting scene.

"We transported the patient, Priority 1, to a nearby hospital," EMS’ public information officer Vito Maggiolo told WND Tuesday. "All further information regarding this ongoing investigation should be referred to the Metropolitan Police Department."

Inadvertently confirming that Rich had not yet died when EMS arrived to transport him to the hospital, "Priority 1," Maggiolo explained, is a term used to categorize patients who are in critical condition.

He was taken to the OR emergently where we performed an exlap and found a small injury to segment 3 of the liver which was packed and several small bowel injuries (pretty common for gunshots to the back exiting the abdomen) which we resected ~12cm of bowel and left him in discontinuity (didn’t hook everything back up) with the intent of performing a washout in the morning. He did not have any major vascular injuries otherwise. I’ve seen dozens of worse cases than this which survived and nothing about his injuries suggested to me that he’d sustained a fatal wound.

In the meantime he was transferred to the ICU and transfused 2 units of blood when his post-surgery crit came back ~20. He was stable and not on any pressors, and it seemed pretty routine. About 8 hours after he arrived we were swarmed by LEOs and pretty much everyone except the attending and a few nurses was kicked out of the ICU (disallowing visiting hours -normally every odd hour, eg 1am, 3am, etc- is not something we do routinely). It was weird as hell. At turnover that morning we were instructed not to round on the VIP that came in last night (that’s exactly what the attending said, and no one except for me and another resident had any idea who he was talking about).

No one here was allowed to see Seth except for my attending when he died. No code was called. I rounded on patients literally next door but was physically blocked from checking in on him. I’ve never seen anything like it before, and while I can’t say 100% that he was allowed to die, I don’t understand why he was treated like that. Take it how you may, /pol/, I’m just one low level doc. Something’s fishy though, that’s for sure.

#6  Joseph Capone, Owner of Bar Where Rich Spent Last Night Reportedly Visited White House 4 Days Before Murder, along with Robert Creamer and John Podesta. Wikileaks confirms Podesta wanted to make an example of a leaker. When a Russian envoy sent to inform President Obama about Russian intel picking up on planned hit - on "a" DNC official, obama immediately expels the Russians from The USA. Gives Russian diplomats and families 24 hours to leave The USA.
Two or three days later, on July 10, 2016, Seth Rich is mysteriously gunned down in Washington DC in a non-robbery.

Eric Braverman was hired as CEO of The Clinton Foundation - by Chelsea Clinton - becoming aware of another Clinton SCANDAL = both Clintons funneling the money to themselves from donations made to The Clinton Foundation to rebuild Villages in India, that could ruin her mother's chances for the US Presidency.

Chelsea Clinton hired Braverman to clean-up The Clinton Foundation that gained a reputation as an international Money Laundering operation, but Braverman resigns as CEO - prior to Hillary Clinton announcing her bid for the US Presidency - even though Braverman was under contract to 2017. His whereabouts are currently unknown
but there are more oddities every day.
In early August of 2016 Amy Dacey, Seth Rich’s boss resigned from her post as CEO of the DNC due to some embarrassing emails released by WikiLeaks. Disgraced Podesta pal Amy Dacey and the individuals who performed her audit in early 2016 are key suspects in knowledge of when and if Seth Rich was identified as the DNC leaker. She also should be asked to whom this was communicated with and what was said.
But the Russian warning of a "hit" on a DNC member gleaned from surveillance? was a startling twist to me--although I can't verify where this info came from...Reddit? Perhaps there are tapes outside Deep States' control? Curiouser and curiouser.

Obama praises US cities, states, for climate change stand
[News24] Montreal - Former US president Barack Obama praised US states and cities for maintaining measures against climate change in a fresh jab at his successor's decision to quit the Paris accord.

Addressing a crowd of 6 000 in Montreal on Tuesday, he argued that his administration had been able to show that greener policies were good for economic growth.

"When it comes to the threat of climate change, we have shown that environmental sustainability and economic progress are not contradictory but are complementary," he told the enthusiastic crowd.

"I took great comfort last week in seeing American states and cities and universities and corporations make it clear that they will keep pushing ahead for the sake of the future generations."

Last week US President Donald Trump's decided to pull out of the Paris climate accord, attracting international condemnation.

A string of state governors, city mayors and powerful companies were quick to pledge to meet greenhouse gas emission targets regardless of Trump's decision.

During Obama's presidency, the United States was one of the 195 countries around the world to sign up to the 2015 agreement.

Israel Steps Up Fight Against ISIS, as Terror Group Wages ‘War' for Control of Egyptian Border
[Free Beacon] Israeli military forces are quietly conducting operations to counter the threat of Islamic State terrorists along the Sinai border area with Egypt, according to senior Israeli defense officials who described ISIS as the "most quickly advanced threat we've ever had."

ISIS terrorists have been locked in what Israeli military officials described as an "ongoing war" along Sinai Peninsula, as they attempt to wrench control of the key territory along Israel's southern border from Egyptian hands.

The daily battle, which has received little coverage in the Western media, has become a chief concern for Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) personnel operating along the Jewish state's southern border, eclipsing even Hamas terrorists in the region.

Officials estimate that there are anywhere from 1,000 to 2,000 "active members of ISIS" operating in the Sinai region, a sizable force in an area that is largely lawless and has been seen as a primary terrorism tension point for some time. ISIS orchestrates terror attacks nearly every day of the week along the border, Israeli military officials disclosed.

Jeff Sessions Ends DOJ Handouts for Leftist Groups
[Breitbart] Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced a new policy on Wednesday that prohibits payouts to third parties in settlements reached by the Justice Department. The announcement came in a memorandum to all U.S. attorneys and Justice Department leaders.

For decades, through a variety of initiatives, the DOJ has insisted on donations to third parties as part of the settlements it reaches with defendants, especially corporations. In the Obama administration, this practice took on the character of a "slush fund," which funneled hundreds of millions of dollars from these corporate defendants and put it into the hands of non-government organizations.

Recipients have included left-wing "community organizer" groups such as the National Council of La Raza, or "The Race," a Latino racial advocacy group that supports mass illegal immigration. Other recipients include the National Urban League, the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, and NeighborWorks America, which is a congressionally chartered mortgage aid group that itself has come under widespread criticism.

'Hostile, Separatist and Crazy': Tucker Battles Supporter of 'Blacks-Only' Memorial Day Party
[FOX] After a New York chapter of Black Lives Matter hosted a 'blacks-only' Memorial Day party, Tucker Carlson asked a BLM supporter why such an event is acceptable.

Carlson said the party promoted segregation - the exact thing BLM purports to oppose.

"I thought the whole point of Black Lives Matter was to speak out against singling out people based on race?" Carlson asked political commentator Lisa Durden.

"Boo-hoo, you white people are angry because you couldn't use your 'white privilege' card to get invited to the Black Lives Matter all-black Memorial Day celebration," Durden said.

South Korean president halts deployment of THAAD system
[The Hill] South Korea's president on Wednesday suspended additional deployments of the United States' THAAD missile defense system pending an environmental assessment, The New York Times reported.

The decision by recently elected President Moon Jae-in to put the deployments on hold is the latest signal of the new administration's intention to reevaluate the nature of the long standing alliance between South Korea and the U.S.

The U.S. has already deployed two THAAD systems in South Korea. Those systems, according to the Times, will be allowed to remain in place. The suspension will apply to four launchers that have not yet been installed.

The U.S. began installing the missile defense systems in March amid increasing concerns over North Korea's rapid acceleration of its weapons programs.

ISIS Says Manchester Attack a Preview of Their 'Rekindled' Post-Caliphate Terror Ops
No!! Really??
![PJ] ISIS vowed that the Manchester attack is a harbinger of what's to come as Islamic State territory falls in Iraq and Syria and the terror group continues to "shift its focus towards carrying out attacks on Crusader soil."

The terror group didn't publish any new attack tactic tips in today's new issue of their Rumiyah magazine, but teased to a special forthcoming publication about how their followers should observe the last 10 days of Ramadan, which ends the evening of June 24.

"Just one week before the blessed month of Ramadan, the world’s attention was focused on the British city of Manchester. A soldier of the Khilafah had carried out a Just Terror operation, striking Manchester Arena at the conclusion of a concert by an American singer," said the foreword of the magazine, which was distributed in several languages online; "Just Terror" is the ISIS name for lone jihadist operations.

"The explosion rocked the city and filled its residents with terror as many of them scrambled to try to contact their loved ones and ensure that they were safe. Then, the casualty figures started emerging: More than 20 had been killed and dozens more had been wounded. The total would later climb to nearly 100 dead and wounded," the article continued. "In the wake of the bombing, the panic-ridden friends and relatives took to social media to enlist the help of strangers in the search for their loved ones, local pubs began offering free booze to emergency personnel in need of clearing their minds of the traumatic scenes they had witnessed, British 'Muslims' came out and offered their token denunciations out of fear of retaliation, massive numbers of police and military personnel were deployed on the streets, the UK threat level was raised to 'Critical,' politicians brought their campaigning for the upcoming general elections to a halt, the distraught and 'broken' American singer placed her European tour on hold and went home, and the Chelsea FC football team cancelled their victory parade in London."
And the next attack was handled so efficiently that football fans fought knife-wielding Lions of Islam to a standstill, tourists attacked them with skateboards, and the police shot them dead eight minutes after they started their bloody work. Oh, and Mayor Khan's veiled soft jihad of the law was brusquely unveiled, which will make things more interesting for him going forward.

#1  'No go' areas and the Parallel Government:

In military terms, this establishment of a parallel government, is called establishing a “Competitive system of control”.

Lt. Col. David Kilcullen, the world renowned expert on modern insurgencies and counter insurgencies, talks extensively about this in his book, “Out of the Mountains: The Coming Age of the Urban Guerrilla”.

In fact it is the central theme of his book and what he reckons is the key to the success of an insurgency as well as how to fight the insurgency.

Kilcullen is of the opinion, backed up by extensive research and experience, that in the old days people were more rural and therefore you found insurgents in the mountains, jungles and bush, but times are changing fast and people are urbanizing into Littoral Zones (areas by the sea) so insurgencies will be fought there in the future…Cape Town is a perfect example.

Kilcullen also mentions various other examples of the criminal, mafia like theory of competitive control that one sees in all insurgencies, but also in townships and communities all over the world…from the “Dons” in the Jamaican Garrison districts to the Favelas of Rio de Janeiro, to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Las Vegas to install bollards to protect pedestrians
[Fox5Vegas] Being a tourist destination can be great for the economy, but it's also a big responsibility for the Metro police.

Safety is one reason the department said it came to the Clark County Commissioners to ask for bollards to be installed on the sidewalk of Las Vegas Boulevard.

"In the last 12 months, there have been a total of eight incidents around the world," Assistant Sheriff Todd Fasulo said. "All have used vehicles."

Police said gunnies have used cars as weapons of mass destruction.

Officials identified six key areas on the strip that are highly crowded and do not have any separation between the street and the pedestrian walkway. Clark County Commissioners directed staff to purchase and install bollards on the sidewalk.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
The House Oversight Committee accused Justice of trying to cover up Fast and Furious
[CIRCA] The House Oversight Committee released a report Wednesday that took former Attorney General Eric Holder and the Justice Department to task over Operation Fast and Furious, a gun-running operation that went wrong, Fox News reported.

The report, which checked in at nearly 300 pages, said that the Justice Department under Holder misled Congress about the operation and actively hid the facts from the family of slain Border Patrol agent Brian Terry, at times being openly hostile towards them.

"More than five years after Brian’s murder, the Terry family still wonders about key details of Operation Fast and Furious," reads the report. "The Justice Department’s obstruction of Congress’s investigation contributed to the Terry family’s inability to find answers."

Terry was killed during a violent encounter with members of a cartel "rip crew" (a group that patrols the border looking for drug dealers to rob). The man who killed Terry was apprehended in April.

Senate Passes Bill to Make Firing VA Employees Easier
[LI] After three years of constant problems at Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals, the Senate passed a bill that will make it easier to fire offending VA employees currently protected by layers of bureaucracy. Fox News reported:

The bill would lower the burden of proof needed to fire employees -- from a "preponderance" to "substantial evidence," allowing a dismissal even if most evidence is in a worker’s favor.

The American Federation of Government Employees, the largest federal employee union, opposed the bill. But the measure was viewed as more in balance with workers’ rights than a version passed by the House in March, mostly along party lines. The Senate bill calls for a longer appeal process than the House’s version -- 180 days vs. 45 days -- though workers would not be paid during that appeal. VA executives also would be held to a tougher standard than rank-and-file employees.

This legislation will allow the department "to take back an employee bonus or reduce a former employee’s pension, a move senators argue will help make sure the department isn’t on the hook to continue paying convicted employees."

The leaders within the VA must "provide more training on whistleblower rights and be prohibited from firing employees who have filed complaints through official channels."

Now the bill heads to the House.

President Donald Trump wants "the House to act quickly" so he can sign the bill. Trump has long promised to clean up the messy VA.
And goodness knows the man knows how to fire underachievers.

[Dhaka Tribune] An Indian army major and five faceless myrmidons were killed in a shootout in an operation against a combined group of the United Liberation Front of Assam (Ulfa) and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K) in the northeastern state of Nagaland, close to the border with Myanmar, police said Wednesday.

The shootout broke out late Tuesday after troops raided a holy warrior hideout in the forests of Mon district in Nagaland state following an intelligence tip-off.

The faceless myrmidons lobbed grenades and fired with automatic rifles at the troops, triggering a nearly eight-hour shootout.

"The officer was killed in the initial assault and two soldiers were maimed. Five bandidos murderous Moslems have been killed," Nagaland police chief LL Doungel told news hounds.

Search operations are still on in the area to prevent faceless myrmidons from escaping to Myanmar, he said.

Ulfa was blamed for the 2015 attack on an army convoy in Manipur state that left 20 soldiers dead, prompting India to carry-out strikes inside Myanmar against the rebels.

Northeast India, linked to the rest of the country by a narrow land corridor, has seen decades of unrest among ethnic and separatist groups.

The region is home to dozens of tribal groups and small guerilla armies whose demands range from greater autonomy to secession from India.

Sanders wants Iran sanctions bill delayed in wake of Tehran attacks
[Iran Press TV] US Senator Bernie Sanders
...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords...
has urged the Senate to delay voting on an anti-Iran sanctions bill to protect the 2015 nuclear deal and show solidarity with Iranians in the wake of Wednesday's terror attacks in Tehran.

Senators were preparing to vote for a bill that introduces more sanctions against Iran over its development of ballistic missiles for defensive purposes.

Speaking on Senate floor, Sanders advised politicians against extending sanctions against Iran while the Islamic Theocratic Republic mourned the victims of two terror attacks that killed 12 people and injured dozens more in the capital Tehran earlier.

"Let us be aware and cognizant that earlier today the people of Iran suffered a horrific terror attack in their capital Tehran, in which 12 people were killed and many more were maimed," the Vermont senator told his colleagues, referring to two terror attacks at Iran’s parliament and Imam Khomeini’s Mausoleum.

"In a time when tensions are extremely high in that part of the world, our goal must be to find ways to bring people together to reduce tensions rather than to exacerbate this very painful and dangerous situation," Sanders said.

Imam Sahib District Governor Appeals For Extra Troops
[ToloNews] The Imam Sahib district governor has appealed for reinforcement troops amid ongoing festivities between security forces and the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
in Imam Sahib district of Kunduz province.

Clashes broke out four days ago, when the Death Eaters launched an attack on a check post.

Imamuddin Quraishi, district governor said in a phone call to TOLOnews that the Taliban is only 500 meters from his compound. He warned if reinforcements are not sent to the area the district could fall to the murderous Moslems.

"This is the fourth day since the Taliban launched their attack and the festivities are ongoing.

"The provincial police chief visited the district but did not bring reinforcements with him. If reinforcements are not deployed to the district, Imam Sahib will fall to the Taliban."

Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Slats grabbed for his rosco...
a provincial council member said the Taliban has already taken control of some areas in the district.

"The festivities started at about 4am on Sunday from Aqa Bay village and now heavy festivities are still ongoing," said Mohammad Yousuf Ayoubi, a provincial council member.

"A few days ago, the Taliban attacked the Imam Sahib district. Unfortunately they have taken most parts of the district and the Taliban has taken control of Aqa Bay Rouz-e-Mubarezk and Koch-e-Bakhmal villages," said another provincial council member Safiullah Amiri.

Military officials however claim the Taliban has sustained a heavy casualty toll in the district.

"The enemies of Afghanistan have tried to destabilize Imam Sahib district but the security forces were able to hurt the enemy and they have suffered heavy casualties.

"One of their group’s leaders was also killed in festivities with security forces and their two armored vehicles were also destroyed," said a military commander Sayed Baqir Musa.

Though I was aware of the assassination of the Afghan gentleman at the time, because several indignant girlfriends had sent me that email petition addressed to the Taliban demanding they treat their wimminfolk according to American standards. I'd got tired of explaining that those few Taliban who could read English and had internet access would be completely uninterested in the opinions of Western infidel females, however scathingly couched, and their non-English speaking, unconnected brethren would care even less.

But what has that to do with either the article or the problem with the link?

Syrian rebels capture Raqqa city district
[ARA News] The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Wednesday captured a neighbourhood in the eastern part of Raqqa city, in northeastern Syria, after clashes with Islamic State’s (ISIS) militants.

The SDF fighters entered the Mashlab neighbourhood in eastern Raqqa after bombing ISIS positions there with heavy artillery.

“After brief clashes, the terrorists evacuated the neighbourhood. We are now in control of al-Mashlab in a first progress within the battle for Raqqa city,” SDF officer Habun Osman told ARA News.

Also on Wednesday, the Syrian Democratic Forces captured Tel Harqal district west of Raqqa. “Tel Harqa was a key base for ISIS terrorists in the western suburb of Raqqa. The area was liberated today by our forces,” SDF Operations Room said in a statement.

“Dozens of ISIS terrorists were killed by SDF fire on Wednesday,” officer Osman told ARA News, without giving exact numbers on casualties.

This comes just one day after the US-backed SDF troops launched a major operation to liberate the city of Raqqa from ISIS radicals.

On Tuesday, the SDF announced the official start of the operation to liberate the city of Raqqa from Islamic State’s (ISIS) militants.

The SDF forces released a statement on the launch of the final stage of liberating Raqqa. “This phase of the Euphrates Wrath Operation includes the preparation for a major assault on the city of Raqqa–ISIS’s de facto capital,” SDF spokesman Talal Silo told a press conference.

Silo further said that there was no timeline for how long the operation will take before Raqqa is completely liberated from ISIS militants.

On Monday, the SDF tightened the siege on ISIS in Raqqa city after liberating three more villages in its northern countryside and killing at least 36 ISIS militants.

Raqqa has been known as a de facto capital for the ISIS self-proclaimed Caliphate since the summer of 2014.

The Kurdish-Arab-Christian alliance of SDF has been isolating Raqqa since November 2016, when the US-backed alliance launched the so-called Euphrates Wrath Operation.

On 13 April, the Syrian Democratic Forces launched the fourth phase of the Euphrates Wrath Operation against Islamic State’s extremists to clear out the northern countryside of Raqqa.

During the first phase of Euphrates Wrath, which began on November 6, 2016, the SDF liberated roughly 560 km² in Northern Raqqa.

On 10 December, 2016, the SDF launched the second phase of the Euphrates Wrath, during which it captured over 2500 km² in Western Raqqa.

On 4 February, 2017, the Syrian Democratic Forces launched the third phase of the Euphrates Wrath Operation, and liberated dozens of villages in Eastern Raqqa from ISIS jihadists.

The campaign is ultimately aimed at liberating the city of Raqqa from ISIS extremists.

Great White North
Canada military budget to dramatically increase over next decade
[DW] The announcement comes after US President Donald Trump demanded other NATO countries increase military spending. While the US and NATO welcomed the budget increase, it will still be short of the desired goal.

Canadian Defense Minister Harjit Sajjan announced Wednesday that the country's military spending would increase by 70 percent over the next decade.

Sajjan said the increased spending would create "a Canada that is strong at home, secure in North America and engaged in the world."

The plan envisages raising military spending to 1.4 percent of GDP in 10 years.
The plan envisages raising military spending to 1.4 percent of GDP in 10 years.
Golly. Still, their version of the National Health Service doesn't come cheap, and oil prices have fallen sharply since their peak. Savings must be found somewhere.
Canada currently spends 18.9 billion Canadian dollars ($14 billion, 12.4 billion euros) on military spending, but that amount would increase to 32.7 billion Canadian dollars by 2026.

The announcement comes less than two weeks after US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
demanded fellow NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
nations increase their defensive spending. The US accounts for more than 70 percent of NATO military spending. Only the UK, Estonia, Greece and Poland currently meet the NATO goal of spending at least 2 percent of their GDP on defense.

"If we're serious about our role in the world, we must be serious about funding our military. And we are," said Sajjan.

Ottawa's announcement was well received in the US.

organization said.

Police arrested lawyer Taner Kilic along with 22 others in the western city of Izmir, all on suspicion of ties to the US-based Moslem holy man's movement, according to a statement on Amnesty's website.

"We are calling on the Turkish authorities to immediately release Taner Kilic along with the other 22 lawyers, and drop all charges against them," Amnesia Amnesty International's secretary general Salil Shetty said.

"Taner Kilic has a long and distinguished record of defending exactly the kind of freedoms that the Turkish authorities are now intent on trampling," he said.

The arrests proved how "arbitrary" Ankara's post-coup crackdown had become, Shetty added.

The organization said it did not believe Kilic's arrest was connected to his work for Amnesia Amnesty International, which he has directed in the country since 2014.

Britain
Getting Used to It by Mark Steyn
The inertia in today's Britain seems telling. We are, as the French Prime Minister and the London Mayor and other eminences have advised, getting used to it. Terror doesn't appear (from this distance) to have played much part in the election campaign: in a certain sense, the remorseless Islamization of Britain seems to have passed beyond politics. If you still think the major parties can ameliorate the situation, Mrs May is just about preferable to Jeremy Corbyn: In a choice between a dissembler and a dupe, vote for the marginally less unsafe pair of hands. If you feel the need (as they did after Enniskillen) to be outraged and impassioned, direct your outrage and passion wisely and join your fellow Britons in excoriating the President of the United States for Tweeting about the Mayor of London. If you feel the need (like Mrs Thatcher after South Georgia) to "rejoice, rejoice", join the patriotic employees of LBC radio in cheering the defenestration of Katie Hopkins, also for Tweeting. If you feel the need (as Mrs May's COBRA meeting did) for an instant policy prescription, then draw the logical conclusion from the above and blame the Internet. The Prime Minister's plans to lean on Google, Facebook et al will discombobulate the next bombers not a whit, but they'll almost certainly lead to a Robert Spencer or Geert Wilders having his YouTube channel taken down or Twitter account suspended, and that's great news, isn't it?

ISIS attacked near northeastern Israeli border
[Ynet] In a report by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 'unidentified' aircrafts attacked ISIS forces near the Syrian-Jordanian-Israeli border; opposition forces attribute strike to international coalition against ISIS, but some say Israel may be behind it.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Tuesday, "unidentified" aircrafts attacked ISIS forces at the Syrian-Jordanian-Israeli border.

According to the report, it is not clear whether these planes belong to the international coalition against ISIS.

The attacks were directed against the ISIS branch in the Golan, the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army, and at least 12 members of the organization were killed and many were maimed. In addition, it was claimed that the focus of the attacks was the village of al-Jamala and areas close to it in the Yarmouk basin.

There has been no confirmation so far for the reports-- not from the international coalition against ISIS, not from Jordan, and not from the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army.

Israel's name was also raised as someone who might be responsible for the attack. If it turns out that this is an attack by the international coalition, then this is a precedent, since to date, as far as is known, those who attacked the Da'ash branch in the Golan were Israel and Jordan.

If it does turn out that the international coalition was behind this attack, it will be unprecedented, since to date--as far as it is publically known--those who attacked ISIS branch in the Golan were Israel and Jordan.

The Grand Turk
Turkey parliament approves troop deployment to Qatar
[Iran Press TV] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's parliament approves a measure to deploy troops to a Turkish military base in Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
amid a widening rift between the Arab country and neighbors in the Persian Gulf region.
Brother Moslem Brotherhood states...
The parliament approved the deployment on Wednesday with 240 politicians in favor, most of them from the ruling party of President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
The deployment had been drafted before a spat surfaced between Qatar and three main allies in the Persian Gulf, namely Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. The three countries, plus Egypt and the Maldives, have cut ties with Doha over what they call Qatar’s support for terrorism. Qatar has denied the allegation.

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
the debate on the legislation was moved up the agenda of the Turkish parliament while a separate bill was introduced to the chamber on increased military cooperation between Turkey and Qatar.

Turkey, which initially moved to mediate between the Arab countries, has declared its support for Qatar, rejecting claims that the country is financing terrorism.

Erdogan said on Tuesday that Qatar was a leading force in the regional fight against terror and criticized others for pursuing the policy of isolating the oil-rich country. He even hailed Qatar for a "cool-headed and constructive" stance in dealing with regional issues.

The vote in the Turkish parliament on Wednesday would be a fresh sign that Turkey is supporting Qatar in the dispute with the Saudis and allies.

Erdogan and other Turkish officials have said that they will continue efforts to resolve the dispute.
An Nahar adds:
The agreement does not contain any specific number of troops to be stationed in the base, or when.

Turkish ambassador to Qatar Ahmet Demirok told AFP last year the base would eventually be home to up to 3,000 troops or possibly more "depending on the needs."

Ayatollah Khamenei: Terror attacks will fail to undermine Iran’s will
[Iran Press TV] Fearless Leader of the Islamic Revolution
...Iran's doddering head theocrat...
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei
...the successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and the actual dictator of Iran...
says Wednesday’s terror attacks in Tehran will fail to undermine the Iranian nation's resolve in the face of threats.

"The Iranian nation is moving forward. These fireworks that happened today will have no impact on the people’s resolve. They are too weak to affect the will of the land of the Medes and the Persians and that of the officials," the Leader said in a meeting with university students in Tehran on Wednesday, several hours after two ISIS terrorist attacks were carried out in the capital.

The Leader said had Iran not stood against the hotspot of terrorism in the region, the country would have faced more severe problems.

Ayatollah Khamenei also expressed optimism that bandidos forces of Evil "will be uprooted, God willing."

While you were focused on Comey, Trump nominated another group of conservative Judges
[LI] It’s understandable why everyone is focused on The Greatest Show on Earth, the appearance of James Comey before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday, June 8, 2017.

But barring some surprise testimony not in Comey’s prepared statement, the hearing will merely confirm "bad" news for Trump already leaked to the press ‐ none of which rises to the level of criminality. And there are some good aspects of the testimony, including that Trump was not personally under investigation and never asserted any type of interference in the Russia probe.

While everyone was focused on Comey’s prepared statement, Trump went about his business filling vacancies in the federal judiciary.

I wrote about this a month ago, Trump begins counter-packing federal courts, Dems can’t stop him thanks to Reid Rule:

As we have pointed out repeatedly, Trump has an unprecedented opportunity to nominate a substantial percentage of the federal judiciary.

There are currently over 100 vacancies, and many more are likely to open up, Liberal nightmare: Trump could appoint half federal judiciary. Yet Democrats, so blinded by the light of #TheResistance, appeared oblivious to the approaching Tsunami of Trump lower court nominations.

Today the first waves of the Trump judicial nomination tsunami hit the beaches in D.C.

Those ten nominees received mostly rave reviews, as detailed in that prior post.

9 die in suicide bombing in Heet

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Nine civilians, including children, were killed in a suicide attack that took place in central Hit, west of Iraq, official sources said on Wednesday.

“A suicide attacker wearing suicide belt targeted on Tuesday evening a gathering of children in central Hit town, west of Ramadi,” an officer from Anbar police told AFP.

The death toll of the blast reached nine victims in addition to two injured women, Mohamed al-Mohammadi, chief of Hit local council said on Wednesday.

“Followed by security services, the attacker tried to hide in one of the houses in al-Gara, central Hit. He gathered a group of children on the street and then blew himself up.”

A medical source from Hit Hospital said, “nine bodies including seven siblings who were killed due to the blast, arrived at the hospital.”

“Among the victims, there were six children below the age of six,” the source added.

Rep. Al Green: I can read and write, and I'm drafting articles of impeachment
[Wash Times] Rep. Al Green, a maverick Democrat, said Wednesday he is drafting articles of impeachment against President Trump, alleging the Republican president broke the law in May and must be held to account.

Mr. Green, of Texas, accused Mr. Trump of obstructing justice when he fired FBI Director James B. Comey and then told a TV reporter he did so because of "this Russia thing" -- meaning the bureau’s probe of alleged Russian meddling in last year’s election, and whether the Trump campaign had anything to do with it.

"The remedy for obstructing justice is impeachment," said Mr. Green, who’s represented a district covering much of southwestern Houston since 2005.

"The firing, coupled with the statement, indicated that the president intended to do what he did," he said.

Mr. Green said he is drafting and reviewing at least one article of impeachment, yet has no "acid test" for when he might actually file the document, saying he wants the public to weigh in first.

Supreme Court acquits blasphemy accused citing lack of evidence
[DAWN] The Supreme Court on Wednesday exonerated a blasphemy accused facing life imprisonment on allegations of desecrating the Holy Koran.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and comprising Justice Dost Mohammad Khan and Justice Qazi Faez Isa issued the order after hearing the prosecution and defendant's lawyer.

The defendant's lawyer told the court that her client had been accused of burning pages of the holy book.

The lawyer also informed the bench that the defendant was a drug addict residing in Multan in 2006, when the incident allegedly took place.

The counsel explained that police had found no trace of burnt pages of the Holy Koran at the site of the incident.

The lawyer also argued that while the incident allegedly took place inside the accused's house, the accused had unlawfully been booked under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, besides Sections 342 and 395-B of the Pakistain Penal Code (PPC).

After examining the record and hearing the defendant's arguments, the court ruled that the prosecution's version, prima facie, appeared to be false.

It noted that the complainant may even have brought previously burnt pages of the Holy Koran to the accused's house in a bid to influence the case.

Police itself did not collect evidence from the site, the court observed, adding that a matchbox was instead provided to the police by the complainant. The prosecution did not check whether the matchbox was new or used, the court said.

The apex court also stated that the lower courts appeared to have not conducted a fair trial of the case.

"Why were sections pertaining to terrorism added [to the charges against the accused]"? the bench wondered.

The court subsequently issued the order to absolve the defendant of all charges, citing a lack of substantial and credible evidence.

Mosul Offensive News

Iraqi forces smoke 34 ISIS troops in western Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Thirty-four Islamic State militants, including a leader, were killed during armed confrontations in western Mosul, Federal Police have declared.

In a statement aired on state TV, Lt.Gen. Shaker Jawdat said, “Federal Police troops have controlled 75 percent of al-Zanjili district and become very close to Bab Sanjar region in the Old City.”

“Operations in Zanjili left 34 militants, including the leader Abi Baraa al-Tounsi, in charge of explosives manufacturing workshops in the Old City, killed and four booby-trapped vehicles, that attempted targeting the passageways of the displaced, destroyed,” he added.

In related news, intelligence sources from Mosul said on Wednesday that the militants looted and burnt houses of the displaced civilians as well as their properties and cars at IS-held regions. Moreover, a source said three Federal Police personnel were shot dead by IS snipers in Zanjili.

Speaking to Shafaq News, the sources added that IS members booby-trapped houses of the civilians who fled toward security troops in al-Shifa district. They stole their properties and cars to block the streets and blow them to hamper advance of the troops.

Meanwhile, observers said the group has realized its losses caused by the war waged against Iraqi troops. Suffering shortage in personnel, the group resorted to hindering the troops through blocking streets with vehicles and denying civilians access to use them as human shields.

On Monday, Federal Police declared troops aimed again at the strategic Old City from the southern entrances, reopening an old front after they have been sweeping through northwestern neighborhoods over the past few weeks in a way to invade the strategic Old City.

The directorate did not refer to whom killed the militant.

Earlier on the day, Federal Police said 34 IS militants, including a leader called abu Baraa al-Tounsi, in charge of explosives manufacturing workshops in the Old City, were killed during armed confrontations on al-Zanjili district in western Mosul.

5 ISIS troops die in shooting in western Mosul

The attack threw the militants into confusion, but they did not take any action attackers since many of their superior leaders had already fled the town, according to the source.

Occasional reports have been made about anonymous attacks targeting IS members inside and outside Mosul since the launch of the offensive, especially at Tal Afar, where the group has reportedly been struck with divisions and infighting over leadership and field defeats.

IS has been holding Tal Afar since 2014, and paramilitary troops, Popular Mobilization, have cleared most of areas around the enclave near the Syrian borders, and occasionally announce they await government orders to invade it.

11 Iraqi soldiers die in mined residence in western Mosul

ISIS attacks civilians with chemical weapons

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State militants used chemical weapons in their current battles with Iraqi forces around western Mosul’s Old City, their last stronghold in the region, causing civilian injuries, a news report said Wednesday.

Russian news agency Sputnik said the chemical attack on Zanjili district caused injuries to 13 civilians, including women and children, saying it was the ninth time IS militants prove their use of chemical warfare since operations launched by the Iraqi government in October to retake Mosul.

The agency said the latest attack was carried out with four mortar missiles laden with poisonous chlorine, adding that medical tests verified the substance’s use.

The report did not mention an exact timing of the reported attack, but instances of chemical weapons use have been recurrently reported since an inventory of chemical arms was discovered by Iraqi forces inside laboratories of Mosul University in the eastern side of Mosul, which government troops took over in January.

The United Nations had previously confirmed cases of civilians being treated for symptoms of what seemed to be chemical agents.

Iraqi government forces are currently battling IS out of the a handful of districts around the Old City, the medieval neighborhood where the group’s supreme leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, declared the establishment of the group’s rule in Iraq and Syria in 2014.

Iraqi forces uncover ISIS prisons in Mosul
Fotos at the link
Mosul (Reuters) Islamic State built prison cells inside an ordinary villa in Mosul as part of the group’s tactic of boosting the safety of its jails and security centers by concealing them among regular houses.

Despite their outward appearance, the jails had the regular attributes of state-run detention centers where inmates have their documents and belongings taken away when they arrive, to be given back to them if and when they are released.

A camera hanging in one cell where men were kept was linked to the guards’ office. “This is to keep the prisoners subdued,” said the Iraqi military intelligence officer showing the villa to journalists.

He said former members of the Iraqi armed forces were kept in this cell, along with Yazidis, the religious community who suffered the most under Islamic State because the hardline group considered them devil worshippers.

“Here they kept ‘violators'” of their laws, he said. “But they are the real violators” in the eyes of Iraqi law, he added.

Iraqi forces stop suicide bombing attack in Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced, on Wednesday, foiling a suicide attack against civilians in western Mosul.

Spokesman for the Ministry of Interior said in a statement that the 16th brigade of Nineveh Police, Nineveh Intelligence Directorate and Counter-Terrorism brigade managed to foil a suicide attack, launched by a suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt, and killed the terrorist before blowing up himself in al-Noor neighborhood, in eastern Mosul.

The suicide bomber was planning to blow up himself among civilians in the neighborhood, the statement added.

Noteworthy, joint security forces continue liberating the city of Mosul from the Islamic State grip, after Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced launching an assault to liberate Nineveh in 17 October 2016.

Daesh sponsors accomplices in Tehran’s twin terror attacks: IRGC
[Iran Press TV] Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says those who have aided and abetted the ISIS terror group are accomplices in twin attacks claimed by the Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
group in the Iranian capital.

In a Wednesday statement, the IRGC condemned the twin terror attacks in Tehran and blamed sponsors of the Takfiri group for the attacks.

The IRGC said the fact that the terrorist attacks were carried out by ISIS just days after US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
's meeting with "the rulers of a regional reactionary regime," which has been supporting Takfiri terrorists, indicates that "they have a hand in the bestial attacks."

The IRGC said it would retaliate for innocent bloodshed in the attacks and pledged to strongly safeguard the country’s national security.

Earlier on Wednesday, gunnies stormed Iran’s Parliament (Majlis) and the mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Theocratic Republic Imam Khomeini in two coordinated attacks.

Twelve people were killed and over 40 others maimed in the assaults.

Separately, Brigadier General Hossein Salami, the IRGC's second-in-command, vowed that the IRGC would avenge the attacks.

"We will remain steadfast in fighting murderous Moslems and we will surely take Dire Revenge on terrorists, their affiliates and their supporters for the blood of the deaders of today’s two terrorist attacks," Salami said.

After the attacks ended, the Interior Ministry issued a statement, elaborating on the terror incidents. According to the statement, the first terror group, comprised of two people, entered the mausoleum at around 10:30 a.m. local time (0600 GMT). The first terrorist blew up his explosives, but the second was killed during firefight with security forces.

Concurrently with the attack at the mausoleum, the second terror team made up of four murderous Moslems sought to enter the administrative building of the parliament but were confronted by security forces, the statement said.

The ministry added that one terrorist blew his explosives up while the three others were killed in shootouts during festivities with security forces as they were seeking to reach upper floors of the parliament building.

Germany sees growing ′fake father′ racket for migrants
7 June
[DW] Authorities in Berlin admitted on Tuesday that Germany was seeing an epidemic of so-called "fake fathers" across the country - perhaps as many as 5,000 a year. The practice revolves around German men claiming paternity of a migrant's child in exchange for a cash payout, and a German passport for the infant. If their child is a citizen, the mothers can then be granted permanent residency in Germany.

"The business of speeding up residency procedures by means of sham paternity is a nationwide phenomenon," said Parliamentary State Secretary for the Interior Ministry Ole Schröder. He added that the 5,000 cases were only the ones the government was aware of, meaning the actual number may be much higher.

In many cases, the men in question are living off of welfare and are thus exempt from having to pay child support as well.

Syrian Refugee Stabs to Death German Psychologist
6 June
[AnNahar] A 27-year-old Syrian man was arrested Wednesday after he stabbed and killed a refugee aid worker during an argument in a Red Cross therapy and counseling center, police said. The unnamed suspect, who also injured himself, was arrested shortly after the attack in Saarbruecken, near the French border, and was then hospitalized, police said.

The victim was a psychologist who worked with traumatized refugees, said the German Red Cross, whose president Rudolf Seiters said he was "appalled and shocked" by the crime.

Several migrants killed in smuggler bus crash in Bulgaria
5 June
[DW] Nine people from Pakistan and Afghanistan have died and seven others were injured on Sundayafter a minibus transporting them through Bulgaria crashed on the highway. The bus was reportedly driven by a 16-year-old Bulgarian with a criminal record who did not have a license.

The crash took place on a highway near Pazardjik, which is close to Bulgaria's borders with Greece and Turkey.

Police said the passengers who were killed did not have any identification documents with them, but survivors of the accident told authorities that they were Pakistani and Afghan nationals.

Report: Rate of deportations stagnating in Germany
4 June
[DW] The German government is falling short of its goal to deport significantly more rejected asylum seekers, a newspaper report has found. Over 8,000 migrants have been sent back so far this year, compared to 25,000 in 2016.

This year has also seen fewer numbers of rejected asylum-seekers who voluntarily opted to return to their countries of origin. According to police figures, only 11,195 such voluntary return trips were approved during the first four months of the year. In 2016, a total of 54,006 migrants took advantage of the volunteer return program in Germany, which covers certain costs including travel expenses.

After the recent drop-off in the number of refugee and migrant arrivals in Germany, Merkel and the premiers of Germany's 16 states declared that only those whose applications were approved were allowed to stay while all others "should leave Germany."

A spokeswoman with the German interior ministry told Welt am Sonntag that the reason for the lower repatriation figures is that an exceptional amount of people returned to their countries of origin last year.

"Repatriations and voluntary departures in 2016 took place to a particularly large extent in the west Balkan countries," the speaker said. Repatriations to other areas have proven to be much more difficult due to a "lack of cooperation" with other countries, the interior ministry said.

The state interior ministry of Hesse told the newspaper that deportations to northern African countries have failed in the past due to the fact that some of the rejected asylum-seekers do not have travel documents.

Germany approves tougher migrant measures
2 June
[Ynet] Germany's top security official says newly passed measures strengthen authorities' ability to identify and deport migrants who may be dangerous or not deserving of asylum.

Parliament's upper house on Friday gave final approval to measures allowing Germany's migration agency to evaluate cellphone data of migrants who arrive without proper documents, and share data with other authorities in situations considered dangerous.

The measures also speed up deportations and allow authorities to monitor dangerous individuals facing deportation with electronic ankle bracelets.

Germany to keep deporting Afghans who pose threat, hide ID
1 June
[Ynet] The German government said Thursday it will continue to deport people to Afghanistan if they are considered a threat, have committed crimes or persistently refuse to reveal their identity.

The government earlier had said it would consider each deportation on a case-by-case basis following Wednesday's deadly attack in Kabul, which raised fresh questions about security in the country.

U.S. Aid Group in Greece Hit by Refugee Sex Abuse Claims
1 June
[AnNahar] The American aid agency Mercy Corps has announced an internal probe into accusations that two of its workers in Greece sexually exploited refugees. Mercy Corps said it had put the two staffers on temporary paid leave after getting a call to its complaints hotline.

Greek authorities have also opened a probe into the case, which was revealed in mid-May by the office of the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Christos Stylianides.

The allegations concerned not just sexual abuse but financial corruption, the Commission said in a May 16 statement. The Commission did not at that time name the agency concerned, but said it had suspended its funding pending the results of the investigation.

Mercy Corps is one of many NGOs working in Greece to help tens of thousands of refugees and migrants blocked from moving further into Europe.

Danish prosecutor: Teen who plotted to bomb Jewish school mentally ill
31 May
[IsraelTimes] A Danish prosecutor says she is appealing a six-year prison sentence given to a Danish teenage girl convicted of attempted terrorism, saying she should be incarcerated in a mental institution instead. Natascha Colding-Olsen, now 17, was found guilty earlier this month of planning bomb attacks on her former school and on a Jewish school in Copenhagen, and of possessing chemicals, two years ago. Prosecutor Lise-Lotte Nilas said Wednesday the case was “totally unusual and serious.” Earlier a medical report concluded that the girl was dangerous to others.

During her trial, Colding-Olsen, who converted to Islam in 2015, admitted the plans and making contact with people whom she thought were radical militants.

Asylum seeker wins European court appeal against deportation from Switzerland
30 May
[TheLocal.ch] A Sudanese man has won his appeal against deportation from Switzerland after the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) said deporting him would violate his human right not to be tortured.

The man in question, known only as A.I., arrived in Switzerland in 2012 and lodged an asylum request, the ECHR said in a press release. He claimed he had been a member of a militant organization defending the rights of minorities in Darfur, Sudan, and he had also been a member of armed opposition group the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM). It was decided he did not meet the criteria of a refugee and therefore he was ordered to be deported. He then lost an appeal at the Swiss civil court before taking his case to the ECHR.

The ECHR said that “despite certain inconsistencies” there was no reason to doubt the credibility of his claims concerning his political activities, and consequently there were “reasonable grounds” to think he ran the risk of being detained, interrogated and tortured on his arrival at Khartoum airport. Deporting him would violate articles three and two of the European Convention on Human Rights which ban torture and protect the right to life, it said.

In a second case related to another Sudanese man, the ECHR ruled in favour of Switzerland, saying the man, known as N.A., was not at risk of being tortured or ill-treated on his return.

Pieces of pig placed on plot of future mosque in Germany
29 May
[IsraelTimes] Nine wooden spikes topped with parts of a dead pig were planted on a plot of land where Muslims are planning to build a mosque in the eastern city of Erfurt, German police said Monday. The 1.5 meter-tall (nearly 5-foot) stakes were topped with half of a pig’s head, pig feet, and pig bowels among other things, the German news agency dpa reported. Police say whoever was responsible is unknown.

There have been repeated protests against the construction of the Ahmadiyya mosque in Erfurt, including one by protesters who erected large Christian crosses on a neighboring property.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Hezbollah threatens to attack American forces in Syria
[IsraelTimes] Day after US bombs pro-Assad troops approaching opposition groups, Lebanese terror group says it can strike at any time.

The Syrian government’s allies will strike at American positions inside Syria if it crosses any "red lines," Hezbollah warned on Wednesday. Hezbollah’s military media said it was only "self-restraint" keeping pro-government forces from attacking American units.

The Lebanese terror group, a close ally of the Syrian government, issued the threat via its military media arm one day after American forces bombed pro-government forces in eastern Syria.

The Pentagon said Tuesday the pro-government forces were infringing on a "de-confliction" zone established to protect US-backed local opposition forces, who are engaged in fighting the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group.

On its TV station al-Manar, Hezbollah broadcast footage it said was of an Iranian drone tailing an American one over eastern Syria. It said the video was proof the Syrian government’s backers could strike American units at will.
Al Ahram adds:
The threat marks an escalation of tensions between the United States and the Syrian government and its backers over control of Syria's southeastern frontier with Iraq, where Washington has been training Syrian rebels at a base inside Syrian territory as part of its campaign against Islamic State murderous Moslems .

The area is seen as crucial to Assad's Iranian allies and could open an overland supply route from Tehran to Iraq, Syria and Leb - the "Shia crescent" of Iranian influence that is a major concern to U.S.-allies in the region.

Hezbollah says footage shows Iranian drone tracking US drone over Syria

[Ynet] The al-Manar TV releases a video showing an American Predator drone flying over Syria, with an Iranian aircraft following it undetected; 'we can hit it at any moment, but we feel sorry for it'

The Hezbollah affiliated al-Manar Lebanese television network has published a video showing an American drone in the skies of southeastern Syria--with an Iranian aircraft tracking it.

The grainy film showed what looked like a Predator drone, a type the US military uses for reconnaissance and attack missions, flying high above unidentifiable territory.

The video apparently features an Iranian source speaking in Farsi and following an American UAV on his screen.

"This is an American airplane observed by our aircraft and we can hit it at any moment, but we feel sorry for it," he said. "Our aircraft is following him right now, we can strike it and he cannot see us."

It is not clear when the video was filmed, and its authenticity could not be verified.

The footage emerged as tensions grow between Washington and the military alliance that backs the Syrian government, including Iranian-backed forces such as Hezbollah.

The alliance threatened on Wednesday to hit US positions in Syria, in response to a US strike on Tuesday against what Washington said were pro-government forces.

Southeast Asia
Marawi militants had planned to set up Islamist enclave
[Reuters] Islamist rebels locked in an urban battle with troops in Marawi had planned to carve out an enclave of their own, officials said on Wednesday after the emergence of a video showing their leaders in a secret strategy meeting. The footage, found on a mobile phone as security forces closed in on the fighters in Marawi City, showed a group of men in a room discussing how they would take hostages from a school, seal off roads and capture a highway into the lakeside town.

Military spokesman Restituto Padilla said, "There was indeed a bigger plan and it was supposed to wreak more havoc."

Officials have said that, among the several hundred insurgents who seized the town on May 23, there were about 40 foreigners from Indonesia and Malaysia but also fighters from India, Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Chechnya. The strike on Marawi City suggested to many that pro-Islamic State groups wanted to establish the town as a Southeast Asian wilayat (governorate} for the radical group, a view supported by the video footage.

The military has said that the fighters are increasingly penned in around a built-up area of the town, and soldiers have been clearing houses that the insurgents had defended with snipers for the past two weeks.

Philippine senators said members of the upper house were last week shown the video of the militants making their plans. In the video, the men pored over a map and one, identified by a subtitle as 'Abdullah', pointed to three locations and discussed options for attack. In a mix of regional languages and English he said, "We can jailbreak ... we can go inside schools ... we can take hostages. But we need to seize a highway so people will be scared."

Seated at a table with them was Isnilon Hapilon, leader of the Abu Sayyaf who was proclaimed by Islamic State last year as its "emir" of Southeast Asia. The U.S. State Department has offered a bounty of up to $5 million for his capture.

Hapilon has formed an alliance with the Maute group and at least two other factions that have lined up behind the Islamic State. Senator JV Ejercito said, "It was clear that these terrorists, the Maute group, their end goal is to make Marawi ... independent, or to separate from the republic. With a plan like this, this is already rebellion and a threat to national security, so declaration of martial law is justified."

The fighters prepared for a long siege, stockpiling arms and food in tunnels, basements, mosques and madrasas, military officials say.

Military spokesman Padilla appealed to social media users not to circulate material - such as video images of the militants destroying religious statues and pulling down a cross inside a church - that may fan religious tension. He said, "Let us not buy into the plan of these terror groups to inflame the feelings of our other religions. This is not a religious war."

A four-hour ceasefire to evacuate residents trapped in the town was interrupted by gunfire on Sunday, leaving some 500 to 600 inside with dwindling supplies of food and water. Officials say that 1,545 civilians have been rescued.

The latest numbers for militants killed in the battle is 134, along with 39 security personnel. Authorities have put the civilian death toll at between 20 and 38.

"Swedish" terrorist who attacked French police with hammer was a journalist and received the EU Commission's award for a report on illegal immigrants
More on this story from yesterday.
[FriaTider] It was the award-winning SR journalist Farid Ikken, 40, who was shot by police on Tuesday after attacking a policeman with a hammer in Paris, Free Times can reveal today. As a journalist in Sweden, Iken received the EU Commission's journalist award for a crash report on illegal immigrants.

The iken, who came from Algeria, came to France in 2014. Before that he had lived for several years in Sweden, where he took his master's degree and also freed for several Swedish media in 2009 and 2010. It states 40-year-old supervisor, Professor Arnaud Mercier At Université Panthéon-Assas, in an interview with French LCI.

- He worked as a journalist in Stockholm and Algeria, says Mercier to the TV channel.

A person who called himself "Massip Farid Ikken" and claimed to be berber from Algeria worked during the current period as a journalist on, among others, Sweden's Radio, UNT and the contributed-financed magazine magazine Fria Tidningen.

In 2009 , he won "The EU Commission's National Journalist Prize Against Discrimination" for an article on illegal immigrants in the People in Bild.

"Massip Farid's article deals with asylum seekers who are not entitled to medical care and who are therefore forced to seek medical care, as well as the healthcare staff and others who still provide healthcare to asylum seekers," the European Commission wrote in the statement.

According to information in the French media, Farid Ikken is married to a Swedish woman.

group in a video, it emerged Wednesday.

The video in which the man pledges allegiance to IS was found by police who searched the apartment he was renting in Cergy outside the French capital, the source said.

Documents found on the attacker identified him as a 40-year-old Algerian student doing a doctorate on the media at a university in eastern La Belle France.

The suspect's thesis director at the University of Lorraine, where he enrolled in 2014, said he had showed "no outward sign of an excessive adherence to Islam."

"When I knew him, he had a pro-Western, pro-democratic outlook," Arnaud Mercier, who said he had not heard from the suspect since November, told the French television channel BFMTV.

Hamas commander said killed in Gaza explosion
[IsraelTimes] Group gives no info on circumstances of blast in Rafah, which may have been an operational accident.

A Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, field commander was killed Wednesday night and two other operatives injured in a blast in the southern Gazoo city of Rafah, officials in the Hamas-controlled Strip said.

The circumstances of the kaboom were note made clear, but may have been an accident during one of the terror group’s operations.

Several Hamas operatives have been killed and injured in accidental blasts and tunnel collapses in recent months.

Hamas is engaged in training its fighters, building rockets and digging tunnels in preparation for another round of conflict with Israel. Israel and Hamas have fought three wars since 2008.

Gazoo bully boyz have dug dozens of tunnels, many reaching under the border into Israel, to launch attacks inside the Jewish state. While Israel destroyed many of them during the summer 2014 war, it says Hamas has since been rebuilding the network, and Hamas has bragged about doing so.

Last year, 22 members of Hamas’s armed wing were killed while "preparing equipment," the majority in a string of tunnel collapses, the terror group said.

Infamous Saudi Sharia official injured in Idlib
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Saudi Sharia holy man, ’Abdullah al-Muhaysni, was maimed by gunfire in the Idlib countryside, tonight, the jihadist official announced via his Telegram channel.

According to the statement released, Muhaysni was driving through a Faylaq al-Sham checkpoint in rural Idlib, when the Islamist group opened fire on his vehicle.

Muhaysni’s Telegram channel specified he suffered minor wounds in his shoulder, while his driver was killed by the gunfire.

The jihadist infighting in the Idlib Governorate will likely intensify after this attack, as ’Abdullah al-Muhaysni is revered by members of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham.

Britain
Anti-Muslim crimes spike in London after attack – mayor
[IsraelTimes] Racist incidents targeting Moslems jump from 3.5 per day on average to 20 on Tuesday alone.

Anti-Moslem crimes in the British capital have increased five-fold since the London Bridge terror attack, London Mayor Sadiq Khan said Wednesday, warning that police would take a "zero-tolerance approach."

"Provisional statistics for 6 June show a 40 percent increase in racist incidents, compared to the daily average this year, and a five-fold increase in the number of Islamophobic incidents," the mayor’s office said in a statement.

It said 54 racist incidents were recorded on Tuesday, compared to a daily average of 38 so far in 2017.

Twenty of them were anti-Moslem incidents, well above the 2017 daily average of 3.5.

"This is the highest daily level of Islamophobic incidents in 2017 to date," the statement said, adding it was higher than levels reached after the November 2015 attacks in Gay Paree in which 130 people were killed.

On his Facebook page, Khan called on Londoners "to pull together, and send a clear message around the world that our city will never be divided by these hideous individuals who seek to harm us and destroy our way of life."

He also warned that "just as the police will do everything possible to root out extremism from our city, so we will take a zero-tolerance approach to hate crime."

Iraq
ISIS leader turns into a fine, red mist in Kirkuk
Hawija (IraqiNews.com) Prominent Islamic State leader has been killed in an airstrike that targeted Hawija, in Kirkuk province, according to Diyala provincial council’s security committee.

In remarks to reporters on Wednesday, Sadeq al-Husseini, head of the council, said “prominent IS leader in Hawija known as abu Mohamed al-Shami, a Syrian national, was killed in an airstrike that targeted a group’s location in Fudeiha village, in Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk.”

“The leader was killed after communication with East Dijla Operations Command to follow him, until security personnel were able to locate him before being targeted by army fighter jets” Husseini added.

Hawija, located 55 KM west of Kirkuk, has been held by IS since mid-2014.

Last month, news reports quoted sources as saying that the extremist group opened alternative headquarters for its so-called “Nineveh State, “Dijlah State”, “Salahuddin State” and “Diyala State” in Hawija.

IS still holds three towns in western Anbar close to the borders with Syria, in addition to a few areas in Salahuddin, Diyala and Kirkuk. The Iraqi government is expected to aim at those strongholds once the Mosul battle is concluded.

Dozens of residents from Hawija and the regions in its vicinity escape to Kirkuk province on a daily basis. Despite the risky routes to the freed regions, the civilians prefer death to staying under IS control.
