Quotation and Book of The Day
[Cafe Hayek] ... is from page 154 of my late colleague Jim Buchanan's profoundly important 1986 essay "The Potential for Tyranny in Politics as Science" (reprinted in Moral Science and Moral Order, Vol. 17 of The Collected Works of James M. Buchanan):

When politics is wrongly interpreted as being analogous to science, as a truth-discovery process, coercion may find moral legitimization for those who claim enlightenment. By contrast, when politics is rightly interpreted as a process for settling conflicts among interests, which are acknowledged to be individually derived, those who seek to impose preferred solutions do so without claim to moral superiority.

Especially widespread among intellectuals and "Progressives" is the notion that there exists a "correct" way for society to operate. Such people believe that social organization is an issue of engineering, one with a single best "solution" -- and that this "solution" must be discovered and implemented in the same way that all engineering solutions are discovered and implemented, namely, by the objective brain-power and design of the engineer. For society or the economy to be engineered requires, of course, a grand overseeing engineer: the state, advised by the best and the brightest who are equipped with all the latest data-gathering and processing techniques, as well as with the latest and most advanced engineering tools.

As Jim Buchanan points out -- in the same as has Hayek, Mises, and nearly all other thoughtful (classical) liberals -- conceiving of social organization as an engineering problem, and of the state as the engineer, is not only factually mistaken, it paves the way for tyranny. The reason is that if this social-engineering view of economy and society were correct, anyone who disagrees with "the experts" advising the social-engineer hard at work to design and implement a good society is an enemy of The People.

#1  as a engineer, I have to say... there is no Correct solution to any perceived need. Rather their are products created that attempt to fill the niche and the market and mental landscape at product introduction determine if the product will be used. All the social engineering bull misses that point. Remember the Apple/Mot Newton? (a product before it's time)

Let Putin tremble

Defense Secretary Ashton B. Carter said Thursday that he is opening all jobs in combat units to women, a landmark decision that would for the first time allow female service members to join the country's most elite military forces.

Women will now be eligible to join the Navy SEALs, Army Special Forces and other Special Operations Units. It also opens the Marine Corps infantry, a battle-hardened force that many service officials had openly advocated keeping closed to female service members.

The Paris Delusion
Weeks after the Paris terror attacks that killed 130 people and wounded hundreds more, world leaders have converged on the French capital to discuss what they call the most urgent challenge facing the planet, a crisis that threatens to spreaddeath and destruction across the globe: an increase in global average temperatures of two degrees by the end of the 21st century.

Report: The World Will Run out of Breathable Air Unless Carbon Is Cut
Where's that Krusty screaming image when you need it?
Nothing lasts forever.
[Yahoo] As representatives from 195 nations gather in Paris to hammer out a global agreement to slash greenhouse gas emissions, a new study finds that the failure to do so could leave the world gasping for breath.

Marine plants such as phytoplankton are estimated to produce more than half the Earth's atmospheric oxygen, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. For the study, Sergei Petrovskii, an applied mathematics professor at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom, calculated how unrestrained global warming could affect phytoplankton and thus the ocean's ability to generate breathable air. He ran computer models that looked at what would happen to phytoplankton's ability to photosynthesize at different temperatures.

If the world's oceans warmed by 6 degrees Celsius--a realistic possibility if global emissions continue unabated--the tiny plants would halt oxygen production, according to the study, which was published Tuesday in the Bulletin of Mathematical Biology.

By 2100, the earth at sea level could have atmospheric oxygen levels comparable to the top of Mount Everest today. "And as far as I know, people cannot normally stay on Everest without oxygen masks for more than a few minutes," Petrovskii said.

The threat has been "mostly overlooked" by climate scientists, Petrovskii said, noting that such a global disaster would come with little notice.

"A distinct feature of this catastrophe is that there will be few warning signs and little change before it is too late," he said. That's because phytoplankton can continue to produce oxygen and photosynthesize at levels below 6 degrees of temperature rise.

"Under a 2-degree increase, we will probably see no change; the 4-degree increase would already be dangerously close," Petrovskii said, adding that more research is needed to determine what increase in global temperatures would halt phytoplankton's ability to photosynthesize.
More research is needed. To be done by him. With a large, five year, unrestricted grant from NOAA and NSF...

San Bernardino Shooting Could Be Related to Terrorism, Obama Says
Fuc& you, you closet-Muslim moron. And the ignorant fraudulent voter base horse you rode in on, too. At this point you've been basically stopped from ruining the country any further, and we can just enjoy the train wreck that will unfold over the coming year. Hopefully Trump will ask for Churchill's bust back when he takes over your office and cancels all your executive orders. Your legacy will be cowardice, an Obamaphone, awkward self-important oratory even with a teleprompter as your permanently pot-addled brain stumbles through your mine-laden battered-wife logic that nobody else seems to understand (except the sycophants you love to gather around you), the long "recession", kissing the feet of third-world leaders (who best you at every turn), not being able to fill a high-school auditorium at an appearance, golfing while the world burns, and liberals checking themselves into mental hospitals in droves. Anyone who knows how to flip a coin could have done better than you. And so could have those who don't know how to flip a coin. It's going to be interesting to see how your retirement goes.
President Obama told reporters today that officials still do not know the motives of the San Bernardino shooters, but they could be "terrorist related."

"At this stage, we do not yet know why this terrible event occurred," Obama said of the Wednesday rampage that left 14 people dead. "We do know that the two individuals who were killed were equipped with weapons and appeared to have access to additional weaponry in their homes. But we don't know why they did it."

Obama added, "It is possible that this was terrorist-related but we don't know. And it's also possible that this was workplace related."

He has been receiving regular updates on the situation in San Bernardino, California, from his Homeland Security adviser, Lisa Monaco. He delivered his remarks to press in the Oval Office alongside members of his national security team.

Obama said the FBI has taken over the investigation in San Bernardino, telling reporters Attorney General Loretta Lynch would be holding a news conference with developments later in the day.

"We don't know at this point the extent of their plans; we do not know their motivations," Obama said.

Echoing his statements in an interview with CBS following the shooting Wednesday, Obama also wrestled today with the issue of Americans having easy access to weapons they can use to inflict mass casualties.

"We're going to have to, I think, search ourselves as a society to make sure that we can take basic steps that would make it make it harder, not impossible, but harder to individuals to get access to weapons," Obama said. "We all have a part to play. And I do think that as the investigation moves forward it's going to be important for all of us, including our legislatures, to see what we can do to ensure that when individuals decide that they want to do somebody harm, we'll make it a little harder for them to do it."

#12  Gorb, your third paragraph has hit on his probable course. He will most likely decided that this is just workplace violence in a country with too many guns.
Lone Ranger, I fully agree with you. However if you look at all countries run by Muslims, they are all sh#tholes. It is a known fact that intelligence is a product of the parents genes. Muslims have been marrying their first cousins and siblings for 1400 years and the Danish studies indicate on the average Muslims have a grossly sub normal IQ (78) along with genetic mental defects at over 25 times the white European population. Many of the mental defects common in the Muslim population are expressed in violence to family and non Muslims. They are careful not to be violent to people in their Muslim community because they know the rest of the Muslim community is as screwed up and violent as they are. Everyone could relate to the interbred mutants in the movie "Deliverance" and they at worst could have been interbred for 200 years. Multiply that by 7 and you have the average Muslim. I believe the Danish Mental data would indicate Muslims should not be allowed to own firearms or knives unless a thorough mental assessment indicated they mentally stable. I'm sure you saw what the chimp did as soon as he was handed a loaded AK-47.

Entire Police Force of SC Town resigns.
The entire small police force of North, South Carolina, including police chief Mark Fallaw, has resigned, prompted by the city's new mayor issuing a gag order for the department.

Fallaw, along with fellow officer Anthony Blanchard, submitted his resignation on November 17, giving two weeks notice. Fallaw, who served on the force for 14 years, asserted that Mayor Patty Carson told the department all requests from media would have to be handled by her; she wanted to monitor the department's incoming and outgoing emails, and she demanded that members of the department give her two weeks notice before they made any public appearances. He also claimed she wanted him to write three times as many tickets and would only permit him to buy gas or tires with her approval.
And you should have seen the form we had to fill out to take a piss! Three pages - in triplicate!
Fallaw told WLTX 19, "For her to be directing procedures that were contrary to national standards, that was going to cause a problem. So I just said it was best for me probably to step down."

One officer left just before Carson's election, and another regular officer and a reserve officer followed Fallaw when he left. Two other officers resigned earlier in 2015, finding jobs at other agencies.

The county's law enforcement has had to step up and substitute for the police;

When contacted by WLTX 19, Carson refused to comment, arguing that personnel issues should not be discussed publicly.

He noted that replacing the officers may be difficult, because similar jobs in other towns offer more pay.
Not to mention not having a micromanaging mayor...

#1  Wonder why she bothered. Could it be that the cops were abusing the city credit cards? Writing practically no tickets? Got to be another side if the mayor wanted to take on those additional problems.

#2  It gets better:

Fallaw admits he and Carson have “history.” It started after she was first elected to council in 2010. She wanted to see the cellphone records for the police, but not other departments, Fallaw said. When she insisted under the S.C. Freedom of Information Act, Fallaw said he told her it would cost an estimated $700 for him to go through the records and weed out the numbers of confidential informants, victims and others. She no longer sought the information.

“Some of this seems a little vindictive if I had to guess,” he said.

For instance, he resigned on a Tuesday, Nov. 17. She had him clean out his office by the next Friday, not waiting until he left, Fallaw said.

“She also kicked the sergeant out of his office. She now occupies that office,” Fallaw said.

Also, she is holding the officers’ last checks to ensure nothing was compromised, even though she signed receipts saying all the town’s property was returned by the officers, Fallaw said.

But he notes the people of North voted for Carson over the other candidates.

“They elected Ms. Carson, and we can’t deny that,” he said.

"Last night warplanes heavily bombarded the Islamic State group also known as Daesh [Islamic State] in Humayria village," Sarhad Qadir, director of police in Kirkuk province, told Rudaw on Thursday.

Qadir said at least 10 ISIS snuffies were killed during Wednesday night's operation.

"We also heard a big sound that seemed to be the Daesh [Islamic State] military storehouse being blown up due to the bombardment," the police director added.

Peshmerga forces backed by coalition Arclight airstrikes have recaptured large swaths of territory in the past few months west of Kirkuk province that were previously under ISIS control.

Pakistan ready to host next round of Afghan peace talks, says Lodhi
[DAWN] Pakistain's Permanent Representative to United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
(UN) Dr Maleeha Lodhi said on Thursday that Pakistain is ready to host another round of Afghan peace talks, "But we would like to see the anti-Pakistain rhetoric from Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....

Talking to media, Dr Lodhi however clarified that Afghan government should formally request Pakistain to facilitate the second round of talks between Taliban rebels and government.

She said that for negotiated peace, Pakistain has offered its assistance but Afghan government should make a request to Pakistain to revive and renew the grinding of the peace processor so that an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led grinding of the peace processor can get under way and, "over time we can see a return to peace to people of Afghanistan".

Haqqani terrorist network holds American hostage, report
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Haqqani terrorist network that is allied with the Taliban holds an American national as a hostage.

The Daily Beast, an American-based news reporting and opinion website quotes a top congressman, Duncan Hunter, as revealing that 'There are still Americans in captivity in the Afghanistan-Pakistain region.'

According The Daily Beast, Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA), a leading critic in Congress of the B.O. regime's hostage rescue and recovery policies, has written this in a public letter to President B.O..

No specific number of the hostages has been mentioned in the report but citing U.S. officials and others familiar with the case it does talk about a specific individual that has been in captivity of holy warriors for over a year and left unreported.

The Daily Beast is not publishing the man's name or many details about him at the request of his family and administration and law enforcement officials, who are concerned for his safety. The man is said to be held by the Haqqani network, a Taliban-aligned group that operates along the border of Afghanistan and Pakistain.

The report further states that the only other American known to be held in that region is Caitlin Coleman, who was kidnapped along with her husband, Joshua Boyle, a Canadian citizen, while traveling in Afghanistan in 2012. Coleman had a child while in captivity, multiple U.S. officials have said.

While Hunter's letter mentions no American hostages by name, a spokesperson for the congressman told The Daily Beast that by "Americans" the politician is referring to "all Americans," including Coleman, her child, and the American man being held.

U.S. and other sources knowledgeable about Coleman and her family's case told The Daily Beast that they believe she, her husband, and their child are also alive and well. The family is also believed to be held by the Haqqani.

Coleman and Boyle have appeared in a video asking their governments to work for their release.

KDF jets bomb Shaboob targets in Somalia
Kenyan air-strikes have reportedly bombed two camps belonging to militant group of Al Shabaab in south of Somalia’s lower Jubba region, witnesses said.

The KDF military warplanes stroke pro-ISIL group’s strongholds in Yara-lafagari and Diif areas in the region, witnesses told Shabelle Media based in Mogadishu. The exact casualties resulted from the bombing against Al Shabab militants’ bases in south of Somalia’s Lower Jubba region are yet to be established by Kenyan officials and its targets.

Kenya has struggled to stop the flow of militants and weapons across its porous 700-km border with Somalia, and the violence has also damaged the economy by scaring away tourists and investors.

15 PKK fighters die as Turks attack
ARA News

URFA – Turkish authorities announced Thursday that 15 rebel fighters of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) have been killed in clashes with the Turkish army in the town of Derik in the state of Mardin, southeastern Turkey.

Local officials in Mardin said in a statement on Thursday that authorities have imposed a curfew in a number of neighborhoods and villages in the province since November 27, under the pretext of preserving civilians’ lives and property.

“The lockdown ended on Thursday,” the statement read.

Turkish security forces started immediately removing the checkpoints that have been erected in the town, piling the trenches and dismantling the explosives, but the PKK supporters launched rocket-propelled grenades on the Turkish troops, according to the statement.

Subsequent to the attacks, sporadic clashes broke out between the Turkish troops and PKK rebels in the area.

At least 15 PKK fighters were killed during the clashes, and two PKK members were arrested, according to an official statement by the Mardin municipality. Also, a Turkish soldier was killed and four others were wounded, one of them is in critical condition.

The Turkish forces reportedly seized a large deal of arms, ammunition and military equipment during the clashes.

The PKK hasn’t issued any statement regarding the Turkish claims.

Last Saturday, a prominent Kurdish lawyer and rights activist was shot dead in an incident that is likely to fuel further unrest in Turkey’s Kurdish southeast.

The PKK is listed by Turkey, the United States and the European Union as a terrorist organization. However, the PKK says it is fighting for the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people in Turkey, demanding greater autonomy for Turkey’s Kurds.

Derna IS leader executed
Tripoli, 3 December 2015:

One of the former leaders of the Islamic State (IS/Daesh) forces in Derna has been executed by the Mujahideen. Murad Al-Sabaa, who was captured last month hiding in a house in the town, was shot on Tuesday after what appears to have been a summary Islamic court trial in the town. He was found guilty of a number of killngs. At the time of his capture he was described as described as “the most important IS leader” in the country by the mujahideen who now control the town.

The process of the trial and execution is reported to have angered people in the town, despite a loathing and fear of IS which maintained in grip on the town earlier this year through terror. The reason is that there appears to have been no accepted due legal process, with no appeal. Sabaa was tried in the afternoon and executed in the evening.

“We did not get rid of Daesh just to have Al-Qaeda”, one resident said.

Derna’s mujahideen are ideologically sympathetic to Al-Qaeda.

Photos of Sabaa’s body have been circulating on social media.

Obama's New ISIS Czar is a 'Trusted' But Controversial Pick
President Obama has a new weapon in the fight against terror: a longtime security adviser he has promoted to be his new ISIS czar.

National Security Adviser Susan Rice refers to Rob Malley as one of her "most trusted advisers" and "one of our country's most respected experts on the Middle East." He helped broker the historic Iran nuclear deal and, years before that, helped President Clinton try to bridge the divide between Israelis and Palestinians.

While Malley has almost two decades of experience in national security, he has seen his share of controversies. Malley's career in the White House started under the Clinton administration, first as executive assistant to the national security adviser in 1996 and then as Special Assistant to the President for Arab-Israeli Affairs.

He ran into his first firestorm in 2001 when he co-wrote an article about a Camp David summit on Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, which had ended in failure the year prior. In the article, Malley said it was unfair to blame only Palestinian leader Yasir Arafat — who most observers argued was the reason the talks fell apart — and pushed for "a more nuanced and realistic" analysis showing Israeli leader Ehud Barak was partially responsible, too.

His next run-in with critics came during a casual return to politics in 2008, when he was an informal foreign policy adviser for Obama's presidential campaign. He was forced to sever ties with the campaign when news outlets reported he had met with members of Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that the State Department classifies as a terrorist organization. Malley acknowledged the meetings, saying they were necessary for his work with his non-profit, which focuses on conflict resolution.

"I have never hidden the fact that I had meetings with Hamas," Malley wrote in a letter to The New York Times in May 2008 in in his defense. "I do this as part of my job as Middle East program director at the International Crisis Group."

Still, he decided to stop working with the Obama campaign "to avoid any misperception — misrepresentation being the more accurate word — about the candidate's position regarding the Islamist movement," he said.

Joost Hiltermann, Malley's successor as Middle East and North Africa program director at the International Crisis Group, has known Malley for 20 years. He brushed off the controversies.

"A person in his position is going to draw fire from one side or the other," he added. "Working on the Middle East in particular is going to make some people upset and other people happy, maybe more than any other place."

Still, Malley's past has haunted him. When he returned to the White House last year as a senior director at the National Security Council, administration officials responded to mentions of his history by highlighting the strong relationships Malley has throughout the Middle East, including with members of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government.

Two TTP men killed in Lyari gun battle
KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers Sindh claimed to have killed three terrorists, two with ties to the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), in a gun battle late Wednesday night, a Rangers press release said.

Acting on information regarding the presence of "hardcore terrorists" in Lyari, the Rangers launched a surgical operation to arrest them.

The press release claims the terrorists resorted to firing at the sight of the Rangers troops. Three terrorists were killed when Rangers personnel fired back.

Hazrat Bilal, affiliated with the TTP Abid Macharh group was involved in six target killings, street crime and a grenade attack on a Sohrab Goth police chowki, the Rangers said.

Siraj Gul, also affiliated with the TTP, was known for blowing up schools in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, looting arms and ammunition trucks belonging to law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and the kidnapping of eight Frontier Corps personnel, the press release said.

Umer Rana, alias Laptop, was involved in four target killings in 2014 and conducting reconnaissance for various assasisnations, the Rangers said.

One Rangers man sustained injuries in the exchange of fire.

Weapons were recovered during the operation.

The Rangers are currently leading an operation against criminal elements in Karachi which completed two years in September this year.

The ‘operation’ against criminal elements in Pakistan’s commercial hub was initiated back in September 2013 after the federal cabinet empowered Rangers to lead a targeted advance with the support of police against criminals already identified by federal military and civilian agencies for their alleged involvement in targeted killings, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism in Karachi.

A high-level apex committee meeting chaired by the Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif on May 14, 2015 decided to implement effective policing and surveillance in the "vast suburbs of Karachi", to prevent what the military spokesperson said were "sneaking terrorist attacks".

The second phase of the Karachi operation was launched in early November. Rangers said terrorists, contract killers and their facilitators involved in attacks on LEA personnel "especially police, lawyers and witnesses" would be arrested during this phase, and that such elements would be eliminated.

Police sources have said that three elements — a political party, banned sectarian outfits and hired assassins — were responsible for the recent killings of the law-enforcers in the metropolis.

They also said that policemen were being targeted to undermine the perceived effectiveness of the Karachi operation since the number of targeted killings had dropped to one or two from 8-10 per day.

In late November, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan hinted that the security forces’ operation against criminals in Karachi would be expedited and pursued till its logical conclusion.

Caroline Glick: America’s pathological denial of reality
How much lower will America sink before it regains its senses? Wednesday, two Muslims walked into a Christmas party at a community service center in San Bernardino, California where one worked. They were wearing body armor and video cameras and carrying automatic rifles, pipe bombs and pistols. They opened fire, killed 14, and wounded 17.

The murderers, Syed Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik were killed by police.

Speaking to the Daily News, Farook’s father said his son, “was very religious. He would go to work, come back, go to pray, come back. He’s Muslim.”

Farook’s neighbor told the paper that over the past two years, Farook exchanged his Western dress for Islamic gowns and grew a beard.

These data points lead naturally to the conclusion that Farook and his wife were jihadists who killed in order to kill in the name of Islam.

But in America of December 2015, natural conclusions are considered irresponsible, at best.

In an interview with CNN following the shooting, US President Barack Obama said the massacre demonstrates that the US needs stricter gun laws. As for the motives of the shooters, Obama shrugged. “We don’t yet know the motives of the shooters,” he insisted.

In other words, while ignoring what in all likelihood drove Farooq and his wife to murder innocent people, Obama laid responsibility for the carnage at the feet of his political opponents who reject his demands for stricter limitations on gun ownership.

Here is the place to note that California has some of the most stringent gun control laws in the US.

According to the victims, Farook and his partners were able to reload their weapons and shoot without interruption for several minutes until the police arrived because there was no one to stop them.

Obama wasn’t alone in deflecting attention away from the likely motivations of the murderers.

Wednesday evening, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), held a press conference at the Islamic Center of Orange County. Farook’s brother in law, Farhan Khan was carted out before the cameras to tell the world that he for one had no idea why his brother in law opened fire.

Two other speakers at the event were Hussam Auyloush, CAIR’s regional executive director and Muzammil Siddiqi, the director of the Islamic Society of Orange County.

Auyloush insisted that he had no idea would could have possibly prompted Farook and his wife to murder those gathered at the center. Auyloush raised the prospect that they could have been mentally ill, or perhaps they just didn’t like the victims, or maybe they were garden-variety extremists.

For his part, Siddiqi insisted that Islam had nothing to do with the shooters’ decision to murder innocent people, (how he could be so certain, is unknown).

Siddiqi added that he hopes law enforcement bodies will conduct a full investigation into the “people and motives,” behind the attack.

To a degree, the very fact that Siddiqi had no compunction about stepping in front of the cameras just hours after the attack is proof that the US has lost its way.

Gríma, called (the) Wormtongue, is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. He appears in the second and third volumes of the work, The Two Towers and The Return of the King, and his role is expanded upon in Unfinished Tales. He is introduced in The Two Towers as the chief advisor to King Théoden of Rohan and henchman of Saruman. Gríma serves as an archetypal sycophant, flatterer, liar, and manipulator.

The name Gríma derives from the Old English or Icelandic word meaning "mask", "helmet" or "spectre".[1][2] It is also possible to link the name to the English word "grim", which among other characteristics means "ugly"[3] in Old English.

Amid San Bernardino Attack, Democratic Congressmen to Visit D.C. Terror Mosque
[BREITBART] In the wake of a radical Islamic terror attack in San Bernardino, California, that saw 14 people dead and a dozen others wounded, three Democratic Congressman will show “solidarity” with the American Muslim community by visiting a mosque once led by Anwar al-Awlaki, the deceased chief recruiter for Al Qaeda.

Awlaki is no more, but the mosque where he once served as Imam still stands openly and proudly just outside of Washington, D.C., in the Falls Church neighborhood of Northern Virginia.

Democratic Representatives Rep. Donald Beyer (D-VA), Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), and Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-NY) announced in a letter: “We must show that we will not tolerate Islamophobia
...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do...
and that those who propagate it do not represent the melting-pot America that we celebrate.”

“We invite you to join in this Friday to stand in solidarity with Dar Al-Hijrah Mosque — the mosque that received the hoax bomb — and with all our American Muslim communities, by attending Friday prayers and joining us for a short press conference against bigotry,” the Democratic House members said.

“Help us show solidarity with the American Muslim community be joining us on Friday,” they asked.
"Then we'll all go out and shoot up some infidels!"

MSF clinic in Yemen hit in Saudi-led air strike
Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) says one of its clinics in Yemen has been hit in a Saudi-led coalition air strike. The medical charity said it told the coalition the location of the facility in the city of Taiz before Wednesday's attack, which injured nine people.

MSF's head of mission warned that the bombing of civilians and hospitals was a violation of humanitarian law.
If you were providing medical care to the innocents then you have our sympathy. We're a little skeptical given past reports of your providing medical care to odious combatants...
There has so far been no comment from the coalition, which is battling the Houthi rebel movement.

MSF said two of its staff were among those wounded when its tented clinic in the southern city's al-Houban district was hit on Wednesday morning.

"There is no way that the Saudi-led coalition could have been unaware of the presence of MSF activities in this location," said Jerome Alin, MSF's head of mission in Yemen.

"The bombing of civilians and hospitals is a violation of international humanitarian law," he added. "Civilians seeking healthcare and medical facilities must be respected."

Afghanistan
Finland To Keep Troops In Afghanistan
[Tolo News] Finland is planning to keep troops in the NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
-led military training scheme in Afghanistan until the end of 2016, Finnish Foreign Minister Timo Soini said on Tuesday.

Soini told the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat that Finland has now received a request from La Belle France for assistance.

There are currently 40 Finnish soldiers in Afghanistan. Soini presumed the number would remain the same and most of them will remain in Mazar-e-Sharif in northern Balkh province, he said.

Soini attended a NATO ministerial meeting on Tuesday that dealt with the extension of the current NATO Resolute Support operation.

This come after NATO and its allies have reaffirmed their commitment to work on securing new pledges to fund Afghan cops through to 2020.

Speaking at the Foreign Ministers meeting in Brussels on Tuesday, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said their current commitment was until 2017.

The final decision about continuing of NATO military and financial help to Afghanistan will be finalized in NATO members' summit in Poland in July next year.

"We will also launch work to ensure we can finance the Afghan cops from 2018 to 2020. Because as you know we made a pledge back at our summit in reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
several years ago to finance Afghan National Security Forces but that pledge ends in 2017 so we have to make a new decision to continue to finance the Afghan National Security Forces also after 2017. And we will start to address that at our Foreign Ministerial meeting and then hopefully make the final decision at our summit in July next year," he said.

Stoltenberg said NATO wants to keep 12,000 troops up to the end of 2016.

#4  I posit that this attack in San Berdoo reveals the Moslem Brotherhood in the USA has gone kinetic. I will not speculate on the reason for that decision. Until now, MB operations have been propaganda, infrastructure build-out and lawfare. Add kinetics, something new, here.

One clue to this attack being an MB operation is that LE claims not to have heard of the pair. Probably true, because MB-dependent bureaucrats and politicians disallow LE radars pointing at MB.

Another clue are the illegal-in-CA and well-tricked-out long guns. Only very competent networks could engineer that possession.

And hiding it all from mom? As if.

There are other clues to MB kinetics, no doubt noted by others. CAIR’s immediate presser to deny all majorly among them. The child who yells the soonest and loudest that he or she did not do it did it.

As a relevant aside, I think the "loyal to ISIS" news this morning is misdirection. Those two had no little training in spy-craft.

The target, while probably not the day's primary, was about Christmas, naturally, Christianity being the Moslem bete noir.

(A party of that nature probably violated county policy, which probably set-off the shooter's sudden rage when he confronted co-workers about that. His father is a violent man. Note family members instantly lawyered up by/with MB. MB prints are all over this event. It’s theirs. They’ve gone kinetic and intend to defend doing that. And no doubt do more of it. DOJ vows to prosecute anyone who complains, names Islam.)

MB kinetics adds huge wall of force to leftie-globalist hegemonic chaos. Americans have a Chief Executive with no interest in them or the interests of their country. In fact, plots with their enemies. I expect more, also connected to Christmas, which is a season, not a day.

Killers erased digital presence day before the attacks
The Muslim husband and wife behind the mass shooting in San Bernardino began erasing their digital footprint a day in advance of the deadly attack, deleting email accounts, disposing of hard drives and smashing their cellphones, according to law enforcement investigators who are treating the probe as a counterterrorism case.

Intelligence sources said there is still no explicit evidence linking the two to known terrorists on U.S. or foreign watch lists and that the couple was not on the FBI's radar before Wednesday's deadly shooting rampage.

#6  Doesn't this prove that it wasn't workplace violence (beyond the fact they had the rounds, pipe bombs, gopros, and such ready to go). They popped off early, its the only way to account for ISIS cheerleading but not taking credit.

I don't know San Bernadino and potential targets in that area and so far nobody has gone so far as to speculate.

My gut instinct suggests that the Star Wars opening weekend would be a juicy target filled with people. If you have one go in the front door shooting and throwing pipe bombs you could have another shooting at people existing a cinema you'd have a high count.

#7  Some of the folks who know this stuff way better than I do suggest that the Community Center party was a 'secondary' or tertiary target and that the 'primary' wasn't going to work out for some reason.

RJ's comment that they 'popped off early' might be close to the truth too, but it may have been that something happened (personnel issues?; more security at the 'primary' than they figured?) that may have caused them to go into fallback mode.

Curious to know if there was a larger venue going on that day within 10-15 miles of San Bernardino or scheduled within a day or two after Wednesday. The trend by other terrorists seems to be the destruction of 'evidence' between 12 and 36 hours prior to the actual attack.

It wouldn't have been sooner due to the 'digital erase' timeline.

Caribbean-Latin America
Colombian army kills ELN rebel accused of deadly ambush
The Colombian security forces say they have killed a senior rebel of the left-wing National Liberation Army (ELN).

Jose Daniel Perez, also known as One-eyed Lucho, died in a clash between the rebels and the security forces in Santander province on Monday.
Now he's No-eyed Lucho...
I was thinking Dead-eye Lucho...
The army says he was behind a deadly ambush in which 11 soldiers and a police officer were killed in October. In its aftermath, President Juan Manuel Santos ordered the security forces to step up their attacks on the ELN. On Monday, he congratulated the security forces on their latest operation.

"Our military and police inflict a heavy blow against the ELN. They neutralised alias One-eyed Lucho and weakened the [rebels'] eastern front," he wrote on Twitter.

Army officials said Jose Daniel Perez was 42 years old and had been a member of Colombia's second largest guerrilla group for 25 years. They said that he led the group of ELN rebels which ambushed members of the security forces escorting election officials in central Boyaca province on 26 October.

The ambush, one of the deadliest carried out by the ELN in recent years, shocked the country.

ELN rebels have urged the government to enter into peace talks with them along the lines of those the government is currently holding with Colombia's largest rebel group, Farc. But President Santos has in the past said that the ELN first needs to demonstrate its will for peace before he is willing to consider entering into more formal peace talks.

Terror Networks
Time to hold state-run Arab media to account
[CNN] In the days following the Gay Paree attacks, some news outlets seemed intent on helping ISIS' propaganda efforts.

"Terrorism is an American product," blared one headline. Another recycled the tired, false-flag conspiracy theory that certain foreign intelligence agencies had carried out the attack in order to give Western countries carte blanche to invade the Arab world -- or whatever else they want to do -- in the name of fighting terrorism. It was reminiscent of the talk that was heard after 9/11.

Sadly, these headlines didn't come from ISIS or its offshoots. Instead, they came from the state-run media outlets of Egypt, ostensibly an ally in the U.S. effort to fight terror. And they were by no means the only examples. Just a quick survey of major opinion pieces in the Egyptian state-controlled media encapsulates a point of view that Egyptians are frequently bombarded with, with headlines including: "The Racism of the West and Terrorism," "Terrorism and the Super Powers," "The Western Deceit."

This was, broadly speaking, the outcome of the Sindh Apex Committee meeting on Wednesday which was called by the chief minister in the wake of the murder of two military police personnel the day before in Karachi. In a briefing to the media after the meeting, a number of practical measures to that end were spelled out.

These include setting up 30 more Anti Terrorism Courts, appointing 200 prosecutors and an equal number of Sherlocks to ensure that over 7,000 cases of terrorism could be effectively processed.

Vaccine refusal: another polio case surfaces in Quetta
[DAWN] QUETTA: A fresh case of the crippling polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set...
disease was confirmed in Quetta Thursday, with health officials claiming the victim's father had refused to get his child vaccinated during anti-polio campaigns.

Dr Syed Saifur Rehman, Coordinator Emergency Operation Center (EOC) Balochistan

, confirmed that two-year-old Rab Nawaz Noorzai, resident of Noorzai Colony in Quetta's Eastern Bypass area, tested positive for the virus.

"The child was never vaccinated since his father had refused the drops." Officials say the father used to hide the child when vaccination teams visited their house.

"The negligence of parents led to the child being paralysed for life," Rehman said.

"We have been successful in bringing down the number of refusals and the situation has significantly improved compared to the previous year," he added.

Attack on army men
[DAWN] NEUTRALISING violent elements in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
was never going to be an easy task, given the fact that for years, the state has looked away as such elements entrenched themselves within the bustling metropolis.

Hence while the operation launched just over two years ago to rid Karachi of murderous Moslems, bully boyz and criminal gangs has witnessed some successes, it'll be some time before the state can proclaim 'mission accomplished'.

The fact that law enforcers and military personnel are particularly vulnerable to retaliatory action was reinforced on Tuesday when two army men were killed on the arterial M.A. Jinnah Road in broad daylight.

For those unfamiliar with Karachi's geography, this is perhaps the city's busiest and most congested thoroughfare, which points to the audacity and confidence with which the attackers carried out the act.

Police officials have said it is a planned attack, though only a full investigation will reveal whether this was the case, or if the soldiers -- who were in uniform and travelling in a military vehicle -- were victims of an opportunistic hit.

What is clear is that the murdered men were travelling without back-up, even though military personnel are supposed to move with support.

Men in uniform have been targeted in other attacks as well; most recently four Rangers' troopers were killed in an armed attack while over 75 coppers have been killed in the city this year.

While the space for bully boyz and criminals has certainly been "considerably constrained" in the words of the city police chief, it is apparent that violent elements still have just enough space to hit back at the state.

The truth is that in Karachi, there is a complex mixture of political, sectarian and ethnic murderous Moslems, along with active criminal syndicates.

[REDLANDSDAILYFACTS] Some members of Redlands Townhall and the Redlands Tea Party Patriots have called on city officials to keep Syrian and African refugees from resettling here.

They asked City Council members Tuesday what their plan will be if the city is asked to resettle some of the 85,000 refugees expected to come to the United States in 2016.

"We are researching the issue and preparing to provide information to the City Council in the near future," said city front man Carl Baker in an email.

Many of the refugees would be Syrian and others would be from strife-torn areas of Africa.

"Where will they be housed? How will their expenses be paid and by whom? And what will be done to ensure the safety of our community? Our biggest concern is the safety of our family, our children and our grandchildren," Victoria Hargrave of Redlands Townhall said the council on Tuesday.

"The B.O. regime would like to bring in 85,000 Syrian refugees into our country in the calendar year that just started on Oct. 1 and they have admitted that they have no database or source of information with which to vet these refugees," she said. The Grand Turk
Putin: Turkey 'will regret' downing Russian bomber in Syria
Russian President Vladimir Putin has castigated Turkey's leaders, warning that they will regret shooting down a Russian Su-24 bomber in Syria. In a state of the nation speech, broadcast live on Russian television, he said that "if anyone thinks Russia's reaction will be limited to trade sanctions, they are deeply mistaken".

"We'll remind them again what they did - they will regret it."

Russia's fight against "terrorists" came top in his speech to parliament. At the start he praised the widows of the two Russian servicemen killed in the Su-24 incident in Syria. The widows were sitting in the Kremlin audience for his speech.

There was also a minute's silence for Russian victims of terrorism, including the 224 who died when a bomb blew up a Russian airliner over Egypt's Sinai desert on 31 October.

In his speech Mr Putin again accused the Turkish government of sheltering and covertly supporting IS militants. Turkey insists that its F-16 fighters shot down the Su-24 because the bomber had trespassed into its airspace.

Mr Putin scorned them, saying "probably Allah alone knows why they did it.

"And evidently Allah decided to punish the ruling clique in Turkey, by depriving it of any reason or logic."
Ouch.
He said he was making a clear distinction between the Turkish leadership and Russia's "many longstanding and reliable friends in Turkey".

27 on trial for apostasy in Sudan
KHARTOUM: Some 27 Sudanese are standing trial in a Khartoum court accused of apostasy, risking the death penalty if they are convicted, their lawyer told AFP on Thursday.

The men are accused of taking the Holy Qur'an as the sole source of religious legitimacy and rejecting other Islamic texts.

“The court in Kalakla in south Khartoum has started the trial of 27 defendants brought before it under Article 126 of Sudanese criminal law, apostasy from Islam,” defense lawyer Ahmed Ali Ahmed told AFP.
They are also charged with disturbing the public order, Ahmed said.

Ahmed said investigators told the court that police arrested five of the defendants on Nov. 2 inside a market in the southern Khartoum neighborhood of Mayo “when they were talking to people about their conviction in the belief in the Qur'an and how they don’t recognize” other religious texts.

He said that others were arrested the next day for the same reasons.

The defendants are accused rejecting the authority of the Sunnah, traditions attributed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
The trial of the 27 started last Sunday and went through four sessions during which the judge heard the investigators’ case against the men before it adjourned on Wednesday. It resumes on Dec. 8.

Yemeni Army Ready to Invade Jizan, Najran Saudi Cities
The Yemeni army spokesman General Sharaf Loqman told Al-Manar website that the preliminary operations have ended and that the strategic escalation stage has started.

"We are ready to escalate operations, and the leadership will settle all the details," the Yemeni officer said.

"The Yemeni army and popular committees have surrounded the two Saudi cities of Jizan and Najran and the political leadership will take the decision of invading them," he added.

Luqman noted that the Yemeni army and popular committees are advancing in the various provinces and confronting the Saudi-led terrorists, adding that all the attempts to reach local ceasefire agreements are rejected because the aim is to expel all the terrorists.

General Luqman pointed out that the Yemeni army and popular committees withdrew from the south to let the locals defend their cities.

"However, Qaeda and ISIL terrorists have controlled the area, especially in Aden and Hadramout," he concluded.

ISIS in Yemen: Militants kill two Yemen tribesmen
AFP, AdenThursday, 3 December 2015

Militants have killed two members of an influential tribe in southeastern Yemen, tribal sources said Thursday, accusing the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group of carrying out the executions.

“Supporters of Daesh on Wednesday executed members of the Awlaki tribe after kidnapping them,” a senior tribesman told AFP, using the Arabic acronym for ISIS.

Another tribal source said Hashem and Ahmed Maklam al-Tunssi were killed in Seiyun, the second largest town in Hadramawt province, where Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has a significant presence.

The men belonged to the same tribe as U.S.-born radical cleric Anwar Al-Awlaki, who Washington alleges was a senior Al-Qaeda operative.

He was killed by a U.S. drone strike in Yemen in 2011.

The pro-government “Popular Resistance” force in Hadramawt confirmed the deaths of the two men in a statement accusing ISIS of the killing.

Rada kills IS commander in Tripoli
By Saber Ayyub and Ajnadin Mustafa.

Tripoli, 3 December 2014:

Rada forces say they have killed a member of the Islamic State (IS) organisation in Tripoli’s Fournaj suburb whom they claim was carrying a bomb with him at the time.

Local sources, however, name the man as Murad Al-Gmati, the leader of the capital’s Islamist Furqan brigade. He was said to have been shot dead near the Fournaj roundabout this afternoon after a chase which started in central Tripoli’s Mizran Street. His vehicle was reported to have been heading towards the brigade’s headquarters near Tripoli University’s Section B campus.

Following the killing, checkpoints and roadblocks manned by the brigade and its allies were seen across the capital. This evening there were fears of clashes between Rada and Furqan and it pro-jihadist allies.

According to an eyewitness, Rada stopped a car near the Fournaj roundabout and then started shooting at it when one of the occupants opened the door to get out. He was first shot in the leg then, allegedly, in the head. Another occupant of the car was wounded, then grabbed and taken away by Rada forces. The driver speed off attempting to escape but was cornered and arrested nearby.

According to another source close to Rada, led by Abdul Raouf Kara, Gmati had been ambushed. “The intention was to kill him,” he said.

The killing follows the arrest by Rada last week of the deputy head of Tripoli religious endowments office, Mohamed Atkitek, suspected of involvement with IS.

There has been a split within the Islamists who control the capital, between those who are Salafists and jihadists. Rada are in the former camp. IS is the most radical of the later.

Afghanistan
Kabul investigating reports about Taliban chief
KANDAHAR: Afghan officials scrambled on Thursday to establish whether Taliban supremo Mullah Akhtar Mansour was still alive, after sources said he was “critically” wounded in a gunfight following a bitter argument with commanders in the militant group.

It remains unclear whether Mansour survived the gunfight, which has threatened to derail a renewed regional push to jumpstart peace talks with the Taliban.

The Taliban officially rejected as “absolutely baseless” the reports of the gunfight, which officials and militant sources said was triggered by an altercation at a gathering that cascaded out of control.

“We are trying to establish whether Mansour is dead or alive,” said Sultan Faizi, the spokesman for the Afghan first vice president.

“His situation is critical,” he said, citing credible information.

A senior Pakistani intelligence official said that Mansour had been “very seriously injured” in what he described as a “heavy exchange of fire” at a gathering of militant commanders near Quetta.

An Afghan intelligence official and multiple militant sources close to Mansour’s group confirmed the account to AFP, adding that the gunfight left at least four Taliban members dead and several others wounded.

There was, however, conflicting information on the location of the confrontation, with some sources claiming that it took place near Kandahar, the spiritual birthplace of the Taliban.

But they all agreed that the meeting was at the home of Abdullah Sarhadi, a commander in Mansour’s group and a former Guantanamo Bay detainee.

“There were differences on some points which later turned into harsh words, then Sarhadi opened fire and the others returned fire,” a Taliban source said. It was unclear what the argument was about.

Mansour is reported to be under growing pressure to restart peace talks with Afghan authorities, a contentious issue that has prompted much rancour within hard-line insurgent ranks.

“The reports are still sketchy, but the sheer volume of rumours suggesting that something has happened to Mansour will pressure the Taliban to offer proof that he’s alive,” a Western official in Kabul said.

“Simply posting denials on their website won’t be considered credible enough, especially after Mullah Omar’s death was concealed for years.”

A Taliban commander in the southern province of Helmand said the group would soon release an audio and video message from Mansour.

Arabia
Yemeni nationalists launch attack to seize Al Jawf
Yemen’s national army and resistance fighters launched a major offensive on Wednesday to expel the Iranian-backed coup rebels from the northern Al Jawf governorate, a Yemeni news network reported on Thursday.

The two-pronged offensive from the East and South targets Al Labnat military camp, the largest camp controlled by the Houthis and their allies in Al Jawf north of the capital Sanaa, the main rebel stronghold.

The camp and other areas had been under the control of the pro-government tribes before they were driven out by the insurgents in heavy fighting a few months ago.

Masdar Online, quoting resistance sources, said the offensive is intended to seize that camp and other rebel positions in the area.

“The offensive is the beginning of the battle for the liberation Al Jawf from the Houthis and their allies,” a source said.

In another development, tribal fighters clashed with the Houthis in Mazareeq and Al Said areas in Al Shaaf in Al Jawf on Wednesday.

The network said the fighting erupted after the insurgents broke an agreement with the tribes and occupied positions in those areas.

“The tribes succeeded in repelling rebel attacks and expelling the militias from some areas…clashes were still continuing late Wednesday,” the report said.

Libya ISIS now has 85 freshly minted suicide bombers
Tunis, 03 December 2015:

The Islamic State (IS) organization in the Libyan coastal city of Sirte has invited residents of the city through its local radio station to attend the celebration of the graduation of 85 kids in a ceremony Friday.

The youngsters, the oldest of whom are reported to be 16 years old and described in the IS statement as the “Caliphate Cubs”, are said to be trained in the suicide attacks, arms shooting and booby-trapping.

IS also announced the event through social media posting pictures of some children wearing army uniforms and walking about dressed as soldiers.

Meanwhile, Sirte news agency has reported that a medium-size ship docked at the city’s port yesterday and unloaded a shipment which contained a considerable number of foreign fighters and weapons.

A source close to the agency has reported that some Palestinians were among the foreign nationalities. It is thought that this is the first time that Palestinians are suspected of being amongst the IS nationalities arriving in Libya.

Many reports have surfaced recently reporting an “exodus” of IS fighters from Syria and Iraq fearing of the increased airstrike by the international coalition and have chosen Libya as a new haven zone and base for their activities.

It is believed that Sirte has now became the largest IS base in the whole North Africa with media reports putting their numbers in excess of 2000 made up of from different nationalities.

Meanwhile, the number of locals in Sirte has decreased sharply due to fear as many have escaped the town. Those still in the city are believed to be unable to leave and held hostage by there is captures.

Communication with fearful residents of the city is difficult and it has been difficult obtaining independent news about it.

However, one news agency, Sirte News Agency, is somehow still active in the city communicating undetected through social media.

Oscar Pistorius convicted of murder as appeals court overturns earlier conviction
[CNN] Oscar Pistorius has been found guilty of the murder of Reeva Steenkamp after South Africa's Supreme Court of Appeal overturned the previous conviction of culpable homicide.

Judge Eric Leach ruled Thursday that the Paralympic gold medalist should have foreseen that his firing of a gun would have killed whoever was behind the door in his bathroom, regardless of whether he thought it was Steenkamp or an intruder.

State prosecutors appealed the verdict of culpable homicide, seeking a conviction on more severe charges.

  • [DAILYMAIL.CO.UK] Syed Farook and wife Tashfeen Malik were 'receiving packages' and 'working at strange hours in their garage' according to their neighbors
  • But neighbors feared reporting them in case it was merely racial profiling
  • It has since emerged Farook and Malik had 12 pipe bombs in the house
  • The couple shot 65-70 rounds at Inland Regional Center on Wednesday
  • They had 12 pipe bombs, tools to assemble bombs, 2,000 9mm rounds, and over 2,500 223 rounds stored at their suburban home, according to the FBI
A teacher reported what he thought looked like a bomb, that turned out to be a clock in a pencil case. The school is being sued for $15 million. A Familiar Pattern?
[NYSUN] It may be too soon for the Federal Bureau of Investigation to conclude that the slaughter in San Bernardino was an act of Islamic terrorism, but if so it is also too soon for President B.O. to suggest, as he did, that "The one thing we do know is that we have a pattern now of mass shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world." For the killings at San Bernardino may well be something other than what the President suggests has been the pattern.

The familiar pattern is of a mentally ill person who got his hand on firearms and went on a terrible rampage. This is what happened at Newtown, Aurora, Tucson, and Blacksburg, among others. What is has been unfolding at San Bernardino, by contrast, involves two Muslims who are married and armed with military gear and whose slaughter is being greeted with joy among our Islamist enemies, who are exulting that America is burning.

That would not be not the first time Islamist terror was implicated. There is, most famously, also Fort Hood, where a Muslim doctor, Major Nidal Malik, who had been exchanging email with Anwar Awlaki and other Islamists, slew 13. But it does not appear to be the normal pattern, and it was an error of judgment for Mr. Obama to rush out and suggest it is. It was an error that appears to be animated by a highly ideological commitment to gun control.

This has gotten so bad that the New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
rushed out an editorial this morning that actually blames Paul Ryan
...U.S. Representative for Wisconsin's 1st congressional district, serving since 1999. He is a member of the Republican Party. He proposed an alternative to President Obama's 2011 budget and made himself the target of both Democrat and Republican verbal pies...
for calling, in the wake of the killings at Colorado Springs, for supporting a bill to expand mental health services. The Times seems to think that trying to identify and treat mentally ill persons who might go on a rampage is a smokescreen to avoid infringing on rights the Second Amendment prohibits the government from infringing.

No wonder Americans are arming themselves at record rates. They bought more guns on the first day of the holidays shopping season this year than on any single day in history. There were 185,345 background checks sought November 27. Some police authorities are starting to encourage Americans to arm themselves. "More guns, fewer problems" is the way CBS News sums up the views of bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit
... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang...
's police chief, James Craig. It seems there's more than one way to react to whatever pattern is emerging.

Kurds deny they received Russian support
ARA News

ALEPPO – The Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) operating in the Sheikh Maqsoud district in Aleppo city denied receiving any Russian military support in their fight against Islamist rebel groups.

Fighters of the YPG have been engaged in fierce clashes with Syrian Islamist groups in Sheikh Maqsoud in the city of Aleppo for weeks.

The pro-opposition Local Coordination Committees in Syria (LCCS) said in a statement on Wednesday that Russian cargo planes dropped about five tons of light weapons and ammunition to the Kurdish YPG forces in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo, northern Syria.

“The Russian planes dropped the ammunition shipment at about 3:00 Tuesday midnight,” the LCCS reported.

However, sources close to the Kurdish Auto-Administration denied this news.

Speaking to ARA News, spokesman of the Auto-Administration in Afrin, Rezan Hiddo, denied the claims of receiving weapons, quoting informed sources in the YPG forces in Aleppo.

“The news about receiving Russian weapons by the YPG are baseless,” he stressed.

Also Wednesday, several Syrian opposition sources reported that the Russian warplanes targeted locations for the anti-YPG Islamist factions in the vicinity of Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo.

Over the past two days, the Kurdish forces, backed by allied rebel group of the al-Thuwar Army, have recaptured several villages in Aleppo countryside following fierce clashes with Islamist armed groups, during which casualties fell on both sides.

ISIS forces take Brigitta on Turkish border
ARA News

ALEPPO – Militant fighters of the Islamic State (ISIS) on Thursday recaptured the key village Brigitta from the Syrian rebels in the northern countryside of Aleppo, military sources reported.

Brigitta, located on the border with Turkey, was a military supply route for the Syrian rebels in the north.

Speaking to ARA News in Aleppo, Saleh Zein, spokesman for the Levant Front (a main rebel group fighting in Aleppo), stressed that ISIS extremists were able to recapture Brigitta village “which is one of the most important locations for the rebels on the Syria-Turkey border”.

“ISIS seized control of the village after launching fierce attacks on our headquarters there,” Zein said. “The group bombed our positions with heavy artillery, forcing our fighters to withdraw from the village.”

Last week, the Sultan Murad Brigade along with fighters from the Levant Front were able to take control of the towns of Dalha and Harjala on the Syrian-Turkish border, supported by Turkish warplanes and the U.S.-led coalition forces.

On Wednesday, ISIS waged a major offensive on positions of the Syrian rebels in villages and towns recaptured from the group last week in the northern Syrian province of Aleppo, military sources reported.

The terror group was able at last to seize al-Kafra after fierce clashes with rebels.

Kurds begin attack on northern Raqqa
ARA News

KOBANE – At least 12 militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) radical group were killed and a dozen more wounded in an artillery attack by the Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in Syria’s northeastern province of Raqqa, military officials said on Thursday.

The YPG forces targeted ISIS headquarters near Ain Issa town in northern Raqqa with dozens of shells.

The YPG’s media center said in a statement on Thursday that their forces launched the anti-ISIS offensive in an attempt to paralyze the group’s movements in the northern countryside of Raqqa province, in a bid to open a path towards Raqqa city, which is deemed the ISIS de facto capital in Syria.

“Our units impeded the terror group’s progress north Raqqa, killing 12 terrorists and wounding a dozen more, beside taking one of them as a hostage,” the YPG leadership said, pointing out that their units have destroyed two armored vehicles during the military operation on Thursday.

The YPG fighters also seized “13 Kalashnikov rifles, 1.000 bullets, a PKC weapon, 30 hand grenades, 12 homemade mines, wireless device, night telescope and ten military backpacks,” according to he statement.

Earlier on Wednesday, ISIS militant fighters targeted YPG security checkpoints in the vicinity of Qara Qozak village south of Kobane with heavy weapons and mortars.

Speaking to ARA News on the phone, the YPG fighter Noureddin Gaban said that the villages adjacent to the Euphrates River, stretching from Zor Maghar near the Turkish border to Sirrin town south of Kobane, have been under ISIS fire for days.

“However, our (YPG) response was a heavy and deadly one. Several security buildings for the terror group were completely destroyed in northern Raqqa under our shells, which could prevent the group from supplying its operation near Kobane in the coming days,” he said.

...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
is aware of the incident and was concerned about it.

Rahimi added that a number of airport officials have been dismissed over the incident.

"Herat provincial administration was not aware of this issue at all, this issue was discussed in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
. I was made aware of it from Kabul and the president is very angry about this. The president dismissed Herat aviation officials," said Rahimi.

It is not however yet clear what the purpose of the flight was but officials have speculated that it could have been a private or charter flight for wealthy hunters from the United Arab Emirates - who have in the past come to Afghanistan to hunt rare birds.

The vehicles and goods offloaded from the plane have been confiscated by Herat police who say the court will take a decision in this regard.

India-Pakistan
Polio: Pakistan's shame
[DAWN] THIS year's likely tally of new polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set...
cases reported across the country may be lower than corresponding periods before, but Pakistain has no reason to be sanguine.

The ugly reality of this crippling illness here is thrown into even starker relief when it is considered that globally, the number of cases reported over the course of 2015 is at its lowest in history, according to a report released earlier last month by the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.

Sadly enough, the two countries still considered polio-endemic that stand in the path of success are Pakistain and Afghanistan; Nigeria, until recently the third country thus classified, was taken off the list in September.

On Wednesday, came further bad news. Two children in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
were confirmed as having contracted the poliovirus, bringing the number of new cases to four in just three days in the city. Significantly, both these children are said to have been administered the OPV. This is not for the first time that such failure of the vaccine has been reported.

The difficulty in reaching every child is well known, as are the problems of misconceptions about the vaccination, refusals and the ever-present security threat. More focus is needed, though, on the apparent failure of the vaccine to immunise a child.

One reason is the interruptions in the cold-chain storage process, which render the vaccine ineffective. On a few instances, vials have also been found to be past their expiry date.

An official of the emergency operations centre for polio in Sindh threw up another possibility about the two most recent Karachi cases: that the children may have compromised immune systems, which may have "assist[ed] the vaccine". It is true that vaccine-associated paralytic polio is a reality, though the incidence is fractional.

Lahore High Court: Petitioner asks British queen to return Koh-i-Noor diamond
[DAWN] LAHORE: An attorney on Thursday announced that he has filed a petition with the Lahore High Court seeking the return of the famed Koh-i-Noor diamond which Britain forced India to hand over in colonial times.

Once the largest known diamond in the world, the 105-carat Koh-i-Noor is one of the Crown Jewels. It is set in a crown last worn by the late mother of Queen Elizabeth II during her coronation.

Attorney Jawaid Iqbal Jafree filed the court petition naming Queen Elizabeth II as a respondent. The application asks that Britain hand back the diamond, now on display in the Tower of London.

India also has made regular requests for the jewel's return, saying the diamond is an integral part of the country's history and culture.
Get a chisel and a hammer. I think I can solve this problem...
Britain's then colonial governor-general of India arranged for the huge diamond to be presented to Queen Victoria in 1850, during British colonial rule.

Jafree said that the Koh-i-Noor rightly belonged to Punjab province and was “forcibly and under duress” taken by the British from the local ruler at the time. “Now it should be returned to Pakistan,” he said.

“Her Majesty the Queen will rise in the highest public interest with facilitating honest disposal and transferring the possession of the Koh-i-Noor diamond which was illegally taken,” Jafree said in his petition, which the court has not yet admitted for hearing.

“Koh-i-Noor was not legitimately acquired. Grabbing and snatching it was a private, illegal act which is justified by no law.”

If Kate Middleton, the wife of Prince William, who is second in line to the throne, eventually becomes queen consort, she will don the crown holding the diamond on official occasions.

In the last half century, Jafree has written over 786 letters to Queen Elizabeth and various Pakistani officials asking for the diamond's return. His latest high court petition notes that his letters have never been acknowledged, except once by Queen Elizabeth through her principal private secretary.
Did they ever return the Elgin marbles to Greece or the Obelisk to Egypt? Perhaps the motto of Britain should be "What's mine I hold fast."

30 deportees from Greece sent back after being held at Islamabad airport
[DAWN] ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday detained 49 deportees aboard a chartered flight from Greece at the Benazir Bhutto
... 11th Prime Minister of Pakistain in two non-consecutive terms from 1988 until 1990 and 1993 until 1996. She was the daughter of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, founder of the Pakistain People's Party, who was murdered at the instigation of General Ayub Khan. She was murdered in her turn by person or persons unknown while campaigning in late 2007. Suspects include, to note just a few, Baitullah Mehsud, General Pervez Musharraf, the ISI, al-Qaeda in Pakistain, and her husband, Asif Ali Zardari, who shows remarkably little curiosity about who done her in...
International Airport on orders of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar.

The interior ministry, in a statement, said the deportees were sent to Pakistain illegally and in violation of Pakistain's laws.

All 49 individuals including the flight crew were initially not allowed to disembark the plane. Later, 30 individuals were sent back, while 19 individuals were cleared by authorities to stay in Pakistain.

An interior ministry front man told Dawn.com that only 19 people on the plane had been verified on the basis of their documentation. The remaining 30 on board the flight were sent back, he added.

In a statement released earlier in the day, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said: "No unregistered deportee will be allowed to come to Pakistain and if that happens they will be sent back."
Does that mean these people have no documents? Is purgatory by airplane the price for discarding one's passport along the road to the asylum office? Angela Merkel has much to asnwer for, not least the CO2 burned produced by those airplanes as they shuttle back and forth with their rejected human cargo.
Despite having agreed on all issues in a recent meeting with the EU migration commissioner, one European country is violating Pak law, which is unacceptable, he added.

"Some countries are not doing enough to stop this unethical, inhumane and illegal process of deporting individuals," said the minister.

San Bernardino shooter apparently was in touch with terror subjects
[CNN] Syed Rizwan Farook -- who along with his wife, Tashfeen Malik, carried out the San Bernardino shooting massacre -- apparently was radicalized and in touch with people being investigated by the FBI for international terrorism, law enforcement officials said Thursday.

Farook's apparent radicalization contributed to his role in the mass shooting of 14 people Wednesday during a holiday party for the San Bernardino County health department, where Farook worked, sources said.

Still, it wasn't necessarily the only driver behind the carnage, as workplace grievances may have also played a role. President Barack Obama
I bowled a 129. It’s like — it was like Special Olympics, or something...
hinted as much Thursday when he said that the attackers may have had "mixed motives."

David Bowditch, assistant director in charge of the FBI's Los Angeles office, told news hounds Thursday that Farook had traveled to Pakistain.

And two government officials said no red flags were raised when he'd gone to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
for several weeks in 2013 on the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca that Muslims are required to take at least once in their lifetime. It was during this trip that he met Malik, a native of Pakistain who came to the United States in July 2014 on a "fiancée visa" and later became a lawful permanent resident.

Officials had previously said neither Farook and Malik were known to the FBI or on a list of potentially radicalized people. Nor had they had any known interactions with police until Wednesday.

Yet Farook himself had talked by phone and on social media with more than one person being investigated for terrorism, law enforcement officials said.

The communications were "soft connections" in that they weren't frequent, one law enforcement official said. It had been a few months since Farook's last back-and-forth with these people, who officials said were not considered high priority.
"...were not considered high priority"...? But in a preceding paragraph Farook and Malik were said to be "unknown" to the Bureau. So where are we? Is this another Boston bomber wait and see what happens scenario, or a Bureau sting or source operation gone terribly wrong? Smells badly already, or is it just my anti-gummit paranoia ?
I can't imagine doing that job. Even if they are right 99.9% of the time, and most of the rest are Faisel the Fizzle Bombers and kids caught at the airport on their way to Syria, there are still Farooks in the data. Perhaps a more proactive approach would clear the underbrush.

Three mutilated bodies found in Balochistan's Chaghi district
QUETTA: Security officials recovered mutilated bodies of three young boys from Balochistan's Chaghi district on Thursday.

Levies sources said that mutilated bodies of three young boys, apparently shepherds, were found in Chaghi district of Balochistan. The sources added that all three looked like teenage boys.

Locals in the area had spotted the bodies and had informed security forces. The corpses were shifted to a nearby hospital for postmortem.

Levies personnel reached the site and cordoned off the area, and also started an initial investigation into the incident.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the killings while security forces are trying to identify the victims.

Cameron warns of long Syrian bombing campaign
The mission to target so-called Islamic State militants in Syria could take some time and will require persistence, PM David Cameron has said.

RAF Tornados conducted air strikes on six targets in Syria, "successfully" attacking an IS-controlled oilfield, the Ministry of Defence confirmed. There will be "strong support from our allies" for the action, the PM added.

Two more Tornados and six Typhoons have arrived at RAF Akrotiri, in Cyprus, from where they will join the attacks.

Speaking after the strikes, Mr Cameron said the operation in Syria would require "patience".

"It is complex and it is difficult what we are asking our pilots to do, and our thoughts should be with them and their families as they commence this important work," he said.

The decision to approve the mission was "good for the country", the prime minister said, adding: "There was a compelling case for extending our air strikes from Iraq to Syria, and I was glad to see such strong support right across parliament."

Former Prime Minister Tony Blair has welcomed the result of the vote, saying European forces had to lead the response to the threat. Delivering the Kissinger Lecture at the Library of Congress in Washington, Mr Blair said: "We should learn the lessons of the whole period from 9/11 to today and try to forge a new synthesis of foreign policy which recognises the need for an active policy of engagement, but in a way sophisticated by our experience, not incapacitated by it.

"For Europe, there is a huge calculation to be made. This security threat is at our door. It is actually within our home."

He added that there was "no doubt" in his mind that "this is a battle we will win".

Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said the MoD would be assessing the damage done by the first strikes, saying he had personally approved the targets ahead of the Commons vote. He said the aim was to strike "a very real blow on the oil and revenue on which Daesh depends".

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the UK was obliged under the terms of the UN Security Council resolution on dealing with IS to coordinate with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on air strikes in the country.

BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner said the IS-controlled Omar oilfield in eastern Syria - hit by UK air strikes - was one of eight oilfields targeted by coalition forces. He said the decision to target oilfields may have been a political one - to avoid civilian casualties.

But our correspondent said there was now "an urgency" among US-led forces to "close down" IS sources of revenue. The oilfield at Omar potentially represents more than 10% of its income, the MoD said.

This morning's newspapers in Damascus reiterate criticism Syrian officials have made for years about the West's engagement here.

"Britain didn't ask permission from Syria's government," declares the state news agency SANA. "Cameron told lies," it says.

Syrian officials insist Britain and its allies must follow Russia's example and co-ordinate their campaign with Syrian government forces. If they don't, they warn, they simply won't succeed.
And they may interdict the Syrian-Rooshun boodle...
Mr Fallon said there was a "very rigorous" process by which targets were chosen, and all British military action would adhere to "very strict rules of engagement".

Asked how long the UK might be involved in the coalition campaign against IS in Syria, he said it would "not be quick", but argued it had not been right to leave bombing to other air forces.

On the issue of ground forces, he said the prime minister of Iraq had made it very clear he did not want Western troops on the ground to fight IS.

In a statement, the MoD said the British jets - supported by a Voyager air refuelling tanker, an unmanned Reaper drone and other coalition aircraft - had attacked six targets.

"Carefully selected elements of the oilfield infrastructure were targeted, ensuring the strikes will have a significant impact on Daesh's ability to extract the oil to fund their terrorism," it said.

Before the attacks, pilots used the aircrafts' sensors to confirm "no civilians were in the proximity of the targets", it stated.

Shooter's Brother-in-Law at CAIR Presser: 'I Have No Idea Why He Would Do That'
[PJMEDIA] The Council on American-Islamic Relations
... the Moslem Brüderbund's American arm ...
in Los Angeles pulled together a presser after the name of one of the San Bernardino shooters was identified as Syed Farook.
The usual suspects, the usual threadbare arguments...
Farook's brother-in-law, Farhan Khan, was brought to the microphone by CAIR
...designated a terrorist group by the UAE...
to make a family statement -- but was shielded from questions about the degree of Farook's faith or other details about the shooter.

Farook, a U.S. citizen, worked as an inspector for the county health department that was holding the Christmas party at the site of the shooting, the Inland Regional Center's auditorium. Khan's sister was married to Farook.

"We unequivocally condemn the horrific act that happened today," said Hussam Auyloush, executive director of the CAIR chapter, at the presser, adding "there is absolutely nothing that can justify" the mass shooting that killed 14 and maimed 17. He mused that the cause could be workplace violence, mental illness or extremism.

Muzammil Siddiqi
... issued a fatwa on Islam Online, stating By participating in a non-Islamic system, one cannot rule by that which Allah has commanded.... We must not forget that Allah's rules have to be established in all lands, and all our efforts should lead to that direction. In 2002, federal authorities raided headquarters of the Fiqh Council. However, no arrests were made, and in fact in July 2005, Siddiqi's Fiqh Council of North America publicly issued a fatwa piously stating Islam's condemnation of terrorism and religious extremism.....
, director of the Islamic Society of Orange County, said Southern Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Muslims stood "in solidarity" with the victims and condemn the attack.

"We have condemned all violence everywhere," Siddiqi said, adding they would like to see law enforcement conduct a full investigation including the "people and motives" behind the attack.

He asked people to "not implicate Islam or Muslims... our faith is against that kind of behavior."

CNN Guest: San Bernardino Office Holiday Party 'May Have Been Offensive' to Muslim Gunman
[NEWSBUSTERS.ORG] Just when the liberal media's extrapolations concerning the motives of the San Bernardino gunman couldn't grow any more jaw-dropping, an expert appearing during the 11:00 p.m. Eastern hour of CNN Tonight predicted late Wednesday that the office holiday party where the shooting occurred "may have been offensive" to the Muslim gunman.

Criminologist Casey Jordan was called on by host Don Lemon and began by suggesting that the "[d]isgruntled employee" appeared to "have Arabic or Middle Eastern names, but the key is that from the beginning everything that was reported about him, going into this conference room where there was a holiday party which may have been offensive to him."

Jordan further opined that "the bottomline is the motivation always appeared to be intrinsic not, extrinsic" and "he was prepared for this" because "it was almost like he was looking for an excuse to go get the guns, get the female getaway driver -- you know, put on his fatigues and let it look like terrorism."

She agreed with other guests in analyzing the situation as "a mash up" or "amalgamation" of "terrorism and disgruntled employee" and reaffirmed her belief that "his motive was very intrinsic," "personal," and "about a grudge and it looks like terrorism and he might like that, but it isn't what it's about."

Overall, it's been quite a day of rushing to conclusions on CNN. As this writer wrote earlier, CNN law enforcement analyst Tom Fuentes predicted in the 4:00 p.m. Eastern hour that it was likely carried out by "an anti-government domestic militia group" while fellow law enforcement analyst Harry Houck pointed out in the 7:00 p.m. Eastern hour that those responsible "could be some right-wing group, for all I know."
Complete rubbish.

#3  I was wondering why, when listening to the reports on this incident, I never once heard the reporters mention the possibility that this might be an act of Islamic terrorists. The fact that there were several adult attackers meant that this would be something new otherwise, so this seemed to be to be the very first explanation that should come to the normal mind.
That it did not do so to the staff at ABC news suggests that they must all be imbeciles or worse.
That idiots in a certain political party should use this incident to argue for citizens to increase their own vulnerability to such outrages by disarming is more than amazing.
What I got from ABC news was endless repeating of no new information given for the sole aim of keeping the audience from turning it off. It even seemed to glorify the terrorists, and make them seem heroic.
Actually the perpetrators should rather be described as what they are: people who have made themselves into subhuman monsters. If we constantly described them as subhumans, perhaps they would be less of an inspiration to imitators.

The shooters are almost all lefties of some stripe and they always go after people in places left vulnerable by their own democrat passed policies. They worship the death of innocents, babies, crime victims, anyone but evil of their own ilk. They want doctors to kill anyone who asks or who can't defend themselves, they refuse to punish criminals who en masse vote for them. They refuse to see that by far, the vast majority of murders in this country are democrats killing democrats. Who do blacks vote for? Who has the most abortions in the country? Gun-makers' stocks surge after San Bernardino shooting
[The Guardian] Smith & Wesson and Sturm, Ruger & Co jump early Thursday, part of a trend that has seen gun-makers' stocks quadruple S&P 500 returns in past five years.

Stocks of two major gun-makers surged on Thursday morning, the day after a shooting in San Bernardino, California, left 14 people dead.

More than an hour after the stock markets opened, Smith & Wesson stocks were up by 2.62%. Stocks of Sturm, Ruger & Co were up 1.67%.

Gunmakers saw their stock rise even as the overall stock market fell on concerns that the Federal Reserve would raise interests later this month.

Smith & Wesson and Sturm, Ruger & Co saw their stocks surge in October as well after a shooting at Umpqua community college in Oregon left 10 people dead, including the gunman. Investors are betting that the shootings will lead to more gun sales: a CNN Money analysis found that over the past five years these stocks have had four times the returns of the S&P 500 stock market.

They're here
Al-Qaeda's "defeated."

ISIS is the "JV."
I think that I’m a better speechwriter than my speechwriters,” Mr. Obama told Patrick Gaspard, his political director, at the start of the 2008 campaign, according to The New Yorker. “I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I’ll tell you right now that I’m going to think I’m a better political director than my political director.”

Anybody but us see the problem here?

Far be it from us to display the slightest hint of Islamophobia.
...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do...
Meanwhile, the wonderful world wrought by the Profit screams, shrieks, ululates, and turns out in mobs on demand. "Death to America" isn't answered by "Death to the Medes and the Persians," or "Death to Takfiri." It's just one of those cultural things. We're much too crude to understand the subtlety of it all.

Now it's here, the filthy Islamic murderous attacks. The dead innocents. The ululating at Islamic heroism.

Dull night at home?

"I'm bored, honey. Let's go kill some infidels!"
The White House is calling for a new assault weapons ban, Charlie Spiering notes. Presidential contender Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is calling for “universal background checks,” Patrick Howley reports. And Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is even claiming that there is a “terrorist loophole” in gun laws that Republicans won’t close, as Caroline May reports.

The Smartest Man in the Room is a one-trick unicorn. The Party of Crime and Corruption continues business as usual.

Next month, maybe next week, more Islamists will repay a nation's hospitality in the only coin their realm produces.

#5  The Visa screening that let the female shooter in SB in was ostensibly done in collaboration with the Pakistani/Saudi Arabian government databases, as well as the Embassy/Consulate interview. The lead agency in this was DHS. This is more comprehensive that the purported "screening" process that is being described by the Administration to also be conducted by DHS. Given that there is no diplomatic recognition or consultation between the US government (including DHS) and the fragmented and hostile Syrian government, it makes laughable the Obama assertion that the screening would have any effect. It just beggars the imagination that the MSM would not question this codswallop.

Afghanistan
Haqqani weapons depot seized in Logar, three suspects arrested
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The National Directorate of Security
...the Afghan national intel agency...
(NDS) -- Afghanistan's intelligence agency has seized a weapons depot of Haqqani terrorist network, responsible for Afghanistan's some deadly bombings and attacks, in central Pashtun-infested Logar province.

A statement released by NDS on Thursday states that the cache was discovered during a raid in Kharwar District.

A Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED), different types of weapons, including Dushka (DSHK) heavy machinegun, Kalashnikov, artillery rounds, thousands of bullets, 15 kilograms of kabooms, eight home-made bombs, military suits and two trucks were confiscated from the depot.

The blurb further states that three suspects have been locked away

in this connection.

NDS statements usually do not contain exact date of the achievements but they come after recent activities.

Europe
Merkel says Afghans arriving in Germany would be returned
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...current chancellor of Germany. She was educated in East Germany when is was still run by commies, but in 1989 got involved with the growing democracy movement when the Berlin Wall fell. Merkel is sometimes referred to by Germans as Mom...
has said that Afghans arriving in her country in pursuit of better economic circumstances would be returned.
...which of course they will accept calmly, like the orderly Germans they desire to be. Precisely like the Jews did in the years leading up to the Holocaust, in fact.
According to Rooters news agency, Merkel says people still living in the areas of insecurity should move to safe zones within their country rather than migrating to Europe.

Merkel has told media that Germany would support the creation of safe zones inside the country, to provide people who "live in areas of insecurity with a zone where security is high."

At a joint news conference with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
in Berlin on Wednesday, Merkel said Germany would meet its humanitarian obligations for Afghans who are in serious danger because they worked for foreign forces such as the German army.

"But where refugees come hoping for a better life -- and I know that this hope is big for many -- that is no reason to get asylum status or residency status here," according to Rooters, Merkel said, adding that in such cases people would be deported back home.

Merkel stressed there was false information circulating in Afghanistan about migration to Germany and said the embassy was taking measures to ensure people knew the rumors were not true.

President Ghani said people should understand that streets of Germany are not paved with gold.

"We need to ... make sure that everybody understands the streets are not paved with gold," he said.

This comes as around 150,000 Afghans have left Afghanistan to Europe this year with a high volume of them to Germany.
