#1  Around the world the push is on to remove people from their freedom to travel at will. These companies have gotten inside approval to pursue this effort with the assistance and blessings of government. Solar power, Wind power, and most recently Marijuana dispensaries(politically connected reap great rewards).

#3  The Vox take is a ... well, lefty one. But this could go the other way as well. Imagine no more speeding tickets. Imagine no more DUI. Imagine efficient use of existing roads rather than waiting for government to build more. Imagine no more ferrying your kids to all their activities. Imagine grannie having the ability to go wherever and whenever she wants, even though she's not really up to the demands of driving any more. Imagine never worrying about parking again.

Intrusive government and leftoid wackos have turned driving from something fun and empowering into one of life's great chores. Self-driving cars might just win that freedom back for us.

#4  Self-driving cars will flip the relative costs of ownership and renting upside down, leading to a world where renting cars is the affordable norm and owning cars is the pricey exception.

I've been saying this for a while, and it is surprising how resistant many people are to the idea of no longer owning their own car.

I think it will change society as much as the internet has and in ways few foresee.

#5  To give one example. Here in Western Australia everywhere is a long way. To travel somewhere you will spend most of day driving or several days to the North.

There will overnight 'sleeper' cars that get you to your destination for breakfast. The hotel and shorter range air travel industries will take a big hit.

Jaish-e-Mohammed Operations Head Abu Khalid killed by Kashmiri Police SOG
Srinagar: In a major victory for the Indian security forces, terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) operational head Abu Khalid was, on Monday, killed in an encounter which broke out early in the morning, between militants and security forces in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Security formed a cordon and launched a search operation in Ladoora area following the inputs that militants were present in the area, a police official said.
He said the search operation turned into a gunbattle when the militants opened fire on the search party. Police said the Jaish commander was killed in the encounter.

Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police SP Vaid said it was a major breakthrough for the security forces as Khalid was involved in many attacks on security camps in North Kashmir. He also spearheaded Jaish operation targeting policemen in particular.

"He was killed in a joint operation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police's Special Operation Group, local police, the CRPF and the Army," he said.

Khalid, who is a Pakistani national, had been operational in the area for last two to three years and was also instrumental in arranging recruits for the terror outfit, police said.

He had recently carried out an attack on a Special Police Officer and his seven-year-old son at Handwara, they said and added that Khalid was an A++ category top-ranking terrorist and carried a bounty of nearly Rs 7 lakh on his head.

Police are also probing his role in the recent attack carried out by the Jaish-e-Mohammed on BSF battalion headquarters near high-security Srinagar airport and also the attack on the District Police Lines at Pulwama.

It is expected that he was a part of the conspiracy behind these dastardly attacks, police said.

Günter Gräwe returns to the US to say 'Thank You.'
[Seattle Times] JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD ‐ Gunter Gräwe spent three years as a German prisoner of war in Western Washington, a World War II incarceration he recalls not with rancor but gratitude for the chance to "live and learn in America."

Gräwe always thought about returning to the state to say thank you.

Last week, the rail-thin veteran, now 91, did just that during a brief visit to this base, where guard towers and barbed-wire fences are long gone but some of the two-story wooden barracks that once housed German prisoners still stand.

He declared his capture by the Americans at the age of 18 "his luckiest day," and reminisced about camp life that included English, French and Spanish classes organized by other POWs and a commissary stocked with chocolate, ice cream and Coca-Cola.

"I never had anything to complain about," Gräwe said. "No guard called us nasty names. I had a better life as a prisoner than my mother and sister back home in Germany."

He said "I was fighting and they forced me to come to Texas the first time, and then I had to fight to get back here the second time."
(FYI the Geneva Protocols require that POW's be held in a similar climate to where they were captured, not where they're from.)

SNL Mocked Trump But Ignored Harvey Weinstein
[Breitbart] The latest episode of Saturday Night Live saw its regular roast of President Donald Trump, calls for gun control in the wake of the Las Vegas shooting, but not one word was uttered about embattled film mogul Harvey Weinstein’s alleged sexual harassment of multiple women over a period of decades.
Sean Deb, the New York Times’ media reporter, called the lack of Weinstein coverage "curious" because the long-running NBC comedy show "has mocked lesser known figures."

"As I said before: SNL has mocked lesser known figures. Weinstein is a huge Hollywood mogul. To not even mention in Update was curious," Deb wrote Sunday.

The Football Lads Alliance (FLA) descended on London for a demonstration condemned by charity Stand up to Racism (SUTR) as well as Labour's shadow home secretary Dianne Abbott.

FLA founder John Meighan said the event was organised to show concern at a 'recent upsurge' in UK terrorist attacks, according to the Evening Standard.

Actor James Woods: I've Been Blacklisted And I'm Outta Here
[Hot Air] In case you’re not already following him, James Woods has one of the more entertaining Twitter accounts in the social media world. This is particularly true if you enjoy your humor with a sharp-tongued conservative edge. But that makes Woods something of a unicorn in the political sphere of Twitter because he’s also a well known actor. Finding Hollywood icons with openly shared conservative beliefs who aren’t named Clint Eastwood is is a project which makes four leaf clovers seem commonplace by comparison.

But there’s apparently a price to be paid for that frankness. Woods has already stated that he had been blacklisted by the Tinseltown Powers That Be over his political leanings and now he’s had enough. As Fox News Entertainment reports, Woods is throwing in the towel and retiring.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
In Chicago, a Las Vegas Every Month
[American Thinker] There were 59 murders in Chicago in September, the city where black lives don’t seem to matter to liberals and gun control zealots. The horrible death toll in the Las Vegas massacre is just a normal month in the gun control and murder capital of America. The Democratic caucus in Congress that seizes on Las Vegas as another crisis too terrible to waste in their pursuit of gun control says nothing about the Chicago carnage, for which nary an NFL millionaire takes a knee while whining about social justice:
The murder toll in Las Vegas on Sunday makes it the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

Know what they call that in Chicago? June.

Actually, there were 84 murders in Chicago, just in June, according to DNAinfo.com, which keeps a running tally.

There were 76 murders in July, 50 in August.

And there were 59 murders in Chicago last month, so the death toll in Las Vegas ‐ again, the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history ‐ was just a normal September there.

So far in Chicago, where Rahm Emanuel, former chief of staff for Barack Obama, is mayor, there have been 519 murders this year. And there's still a quarter of the year to go. But the numbers get crazy when totaling "gun violence" victims: In 2015, 2,988 people were victims of gun violence, according to records kept by The Chicago Tribune.

That number soared in 2016. There were 4,368 shooting victims last year, the Tribune reported.

The Las Vegas shooter is said to have scoped out a Chicago hotel overlooking its annual Lollapalooza concert venue, but he didn’t have to. Chicago gangs are doing the job quite nicely on their own. Much of Chicago’s violence stems from gang bangers, particularly those imported from south of the border, and from the steady supply of illegal drugs that are a consequence of open borders. It is called "gun violence" when it is in fact gang violence fueled by drug trafficking.

Rush: Bannon Is ‘Taking Over the Role of the Republican Party'
[Breitbart] Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said this week that Breitbart News Executive Chairman and former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon is "taking over the role of the Republican Party" as he looks to support conservative challengers to establishment lawmakers in 2018.

"I think what Bannon is doing is slowly but surely taking over the role of the Republican Party, and people joining Bannon are [doing the same]," he said Wednesday. "The Republican Party is obviously not with [President] Trump on balance ‐ you have some in the House who are ‐ but the Republican Party on balance is not with Trump."

Bannon was one of the main populist/nationalist voices in the Trump White House, fighting to keep Trump true to the "America First" platform which catapulted him into the Oval Office. Since Bannon’s departure, Trump appears to have been tempted by the establishment siren song coming from the donor class, GOP congressional leaders, and the "West Wing Democrats" on a number of issues, including DACA and Afghanistan.

Senator Feinstein says no law could've stopped Vegas gunman
Sen. Dianne Feinstein told CBS "Face the Nation" no law would have stopped the Las Vegas shooter from killing 58 people and injuring more than 500 at a country music concert last week.
Someone pinch me! Did a Donk just admit the truth about criminals and guns? Boy is she going to catch hell for that.
The California Democrat made the common sense comment as Congress debates how ‐ or whether ‐ to move forward on gun control measures that would prevent another Las Vegas-like tragedy. CBS "Face the Nation" host John Dickerson asked Feinstein if Congress could pass any law that would have stopped Stephen Paddock's rampage.

"No, he passed background checks registering for handguns and other weapons on multiple occasions," said Feinstein, who noted Paddock didn't display any of the signs one might look for in a potential shooter like a criminal record or mental illness.

But Feinstein doesn't believe that means Congress should do nothing on gun control.
Instead, we should take advantage of the situation while people are still emotional about it.
She has introduced a bill to ban "bump stocks," the device law enforcement say allowed Paddock used to transform semi-automatic guns to fire like automatic guns. The legislation currently has 38 Democratic sponsors and no Republican sponsors, although Feinstein said some Republicans have shown interest. Last week, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee said President Trump is "open" to conversations about bump stocks.

Feinstein said banning bump stocks is "one small thing" that Congress can do to take these weapon transformers out of circulation, and rejected the notion that the bill will lead to banning semi-automatic weapons or seriously restricting gun access in some other way. The bump stock ban was a part of broader assault weapons legislation many Democrats supported in 2013. That bill failed.

"It's a two-page bill, I'll send a copy of it to anyone who calls our office, and you can look at it yourself," Feinstein said. "It does not take anyone's gun."
Then why bother?
The California senator did criticize a concealed-carry reciprocity bill currently in the Senate. That legislation would allow people who have concealed carry permits in one state to use that permit in any other state.
Because you can't trust anyone from outside California.
"Well, my opinion of that bill is it's terrible," she said. "We want every American to feel comfortable packing a concealed weapon around the country? I represent 40 million Californians, and I can say without hesitation Californians do not want concealed carry."
Maybe from LA and SF, anyway. Heaven forbid someone from another state would use a gun to stop a madman and make California look as stupid as it is. Wouldn't want the criminal population to feel they were being discriminated against.
Feinstein also pushed back on the idea that concealed carry permits are explicitly protected by the Second Amendment.
If CC is good enough for your protection detail, it should be good enough for the unwashed masses. Who your protection detail comes from. And you, too.
"Well, I don't believe it's protected by the Constitution," Feinstein said, adding that reciprocity would only make the gun situation in America worse.
Says the senator from a failing state.
Feinstein also touched on foreign affairs, as the Trump administration looks to possibly pull out of the Iran nuclear deal. After a recent Senate Judiciary Committee intelligence briefing, Feinstein said there is "no question" Iran has complied with the stricture of the deal. Whenever a question arose about compliance, it was handled, she said.
Including the ones that we can't prove an answer to because the fox is guarding the henhouse?
"There is no question but that Iran has complied with the strictures of the deal, and when either IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) found something or anyone else found something, it was quickly remedied if there was a glitch," Feinstein said. "So they have cooperated, I think, 100 percent."
No question, eh? Are you willing to bet accepting reciprocity on that? I will because I don't have the problems that you seem to have about not understanding that which isn't happening right in front of your face.
That doesn't mean everyone approves of what Iran is doing, she said. But Feinstein fears pulling out of the agreement would have broader implications beyond Iran.
Read the agreement. Iran has no implications. Except for the fact that they got their money, which doesn't seem to be doing much in the way of bettering the lives of the Iranian citizens. I wonder where it's going.
"I think the biggest ramification from this would be to really create a crisis with North Korea, because it would give North Korea reason to believe well nothing the Republicans do can you trust," Feinstein said. "When you have the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia, China, and the United States all agreeing to support something, and the United States goes through an election, the new president pulls us out, what does that say? It says you can't do business with America."
I think what you meant to say was that anyone with two brain cells to rub together can screw America whenever the Dems are in charge. Especially Obumhole. Less so Bush and Clinton.

Willful ignorance. A vast majority of people outside the blue areas on the coast of CA are very much for it. They live in the third world hellhole Sacramento has created and don't feel safe or the government looks out for their interests and safety. (Hint: It really doesn't)

#6  A new Donk strategy - try to say something half way reasonable ... then demand irrational gun bans.
Posted by: Iblis || 10/09/2017 17:10 Comments || Top||

#7  Unless you believe that this nut-case was under the impression that it is legal to shoot at crowds of people you must accept that he was not one who avoids breaking laws. Thus it is almost impossible to believe that some new gun law would deter him from any action at all.
Converting a rifle to automatic fire is a felony.
The only reason for passing new laws would be to make it harder for a feloniously minded person to arm himself for the mayhem he planned.
The device that it is said to convert his guns to automatic firing was outlawed until 2010, and I do not understand why it was made legal then. Perhaps the Obama administration can explain it.
Since only legal sales are affected by laws, outlawing things tends to drive their sale underground, which actually makes them harder to control.
It is only honest folk who would think of paying attention to new gun laws. They are precisely those who you do not need control.
All of this is so obvious it is probably silly to bother noticing it.

Three charged over makeshift gas canister bomb in Paris
Follow up to this report from a few days ago. The mills of justice are moving quickly this time.
[TheLocal.fr] French prosecutors have charged three men in connection with a makeshift bomb made of gas canisters placed inside an apartment block in western Gay Paree, a judicial source told AFP on Saturday.

The three, identified as Amine A, his cousin Sami B, and Aymen B., were charged late Friday with "attempted murder in an organised group in connection with a terrorist enterprise" and placed in pre-trial detention, the source said.
That's awfully coy. Usually they say.
All three were nabbed
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
on Monday evening, two days after the device was found in a block in the 16th arrondissement, one of the city's most exclusive neighbourhoods.

In total, police found four gas cylinders - two of them in the hallway attached to a mobile phone which Sherlocks believe was meant to be used as a detonator. The other two were on the pavement outside.

Amine A., 30, and Aymen B., 29, are both on the terror watchlist.

Three of their associates who were taken for questioning earlier this week have all been released.

"The consequences in terms of human life and material damage could have been dramatic," Gay Paree prosecutor Francois Molins said on Friday, adding that it was unclear why they chose to target that particular building in Porte d'Auteuil.

It also remains unclear why the men did not activate the device. Police tracked them down by means of DNA found at the scene.

Syrian rebels capture ISIS HQ in Deir Ezzor
Deir Ezzor (Syria News) The self-proclaimed Islamic State group has recently lost one of its important headquarters, located in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, for the Syrian Democratic Forces militia, Qasioun News reported.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) managed to recapture the Sawa area, in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, after violent clashes with the Islamic State militants, who were sieged inside the area.

Few days ago, Islamic State group also lost control over Kasra town, which is located on the banks of the Euphrates River, in western Deir Ezzor, after battles with the Syrian Democratic Forces, and thus the number of villages held by the group were lessened to only three villages (Mohammed, Safira, Shakra, Salhiya, Hatala).

VP Pence Walks Out of NFL Game Over Players Kneeling Protest
[NBC] Vice President Mike Pence walked out of a football game between the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers on Sunday after roughly a dozen players from the 49ers took a knee during the national anthem.

The former Indiana governor flew to Lucas Oil Stadium so he could watch Peyton Manning's jersey retirement ceremony. Manning will become the first Indianapolis-era player in Colts history to have his number retired and will also be inducted into the team's Ring of Honor.

The White House issued a statement regarding Pence's departure from the game, which reads as follows:

"I left today's Colts game because President Trump and I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem. At a time when so many Americans are inspiring our nation with their courage, resolve, and resilience, now, more than ever, we should rally around our Flag and everything that unites us. While everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I don't think it's too much to ask NFL players to respect the Flag and our National Anthem. I stand with President Trump, I stand with our soldiers, and I will always stand for our Flag and our National Anthem."

Yes. But the stadium owners should be a bit concerned. Parking, concessions, merchandise. Spent as much, if not more, on parking, food and trinkets as I did on the tickets. Advertisers pay big money to have their logo viewed at the stadium. Commercials on the big screen in between camera takes. Programs and their ad content.

Erik Prince, Blackwater Founder, Weighs Primary Challenge to Wyoming Republican
[NYT] WASHINGTON ‐ Erik Prince, the founder of the security contractor Blackwater, is seriously considering a Republican primary challenge for a Senate seat in Wyoming, potentially adding a high-profile contender to a fledgling drive to oust establishment lawmakers with insurgents in the mold of President Trump.

Mr. Prince appears increasingly likely to challenge John Barrasso, a senior member of the Senate Republican leadership, according to people who have spoken to him in recent days. He has been urged to run next year by Stephen K. Bannon, who is leading the effort to shake up the Republican leadership with financial backing from the New York hedge fund billionaire Robert Mercer and his daughter Rebekah.

Over the weekend, Mr. Prince traveled to Wyoming with his family to explore ways to establish residency there, said one person who had spoken to him.

If he runs, Mr. Prince would face formidable obstacles in seeking to unseat Mr. Barrasso, a popular and genial but low-profile senator who will have the full backing of Senator Mitch McConnell, the majority leader, and the well-funded political committees loyal to him. Mr. Prince, who has never run for public office, has been a polarizing figure for years, as Blackwater faced a welter of ethical and legal problems over its work for the military in places like Iraq, including an episode in 2007 in which its employees killed 17 civilians in Baghdad.

Certain circles in ANDS ranks have no capability or will to end war, claims Hekmatyar
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The leader of Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin Hekmatyar
... who used to be known in intelligence circles as The Most Evil Man in the World but who now seems merely run-of-the-mill evil...
has said certain people exist among the security forces ranks who are not having the capabilities or the will to end the war.

Hekmatyar made the remarks during a meeting with the tribal and Jihadi leaders from the northern Parwan province of Afghanistan, according to the media wing of the party.

However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
he did not provide any further information regarding his latest claims regarding the security forces ranks.

He said the circles are intentionally and willfully attempting to extend the war in the country.

Hekmatyar called on the tribal and Jihadi elders to step up efforts in a bid to take the responsibility of the security in their own areas.

The leader of Hezb-e-Islami claimed that the government and the foreign forces have remained short to ensure security for the people.

According to Hekmatyar, the ongoing war and violence in the country is against the interests of Islam and Afghanistan as only the Afghan people are paying the price.

According to Gen. Raziq, the Taliban Überstürmbannführers and leaders were summoned from the southern and western provinces of the country for the talks.
The Kandahar police chief believes the main topic discussed during the meeting included the growing pressure, including increased Arclight airstrikes that have badly interrupted the operations of the group.
This comes as a source in South of Afghanistan privy of the development has said the leader of the Taliban group has instructed his fighters to end the war with the terror group.
The source further added that the leader of the group has instructed his fighters not to attack the Lions of Islam of the terror group in a meeting with his commanders during the recent days.
Akhundzada has also told his fighters and commanders that the cause of the Taliban and ISIS-led insurgency are similar and therefore the conflict between the groups should end.

Zimbabwe: War Vets Invade Bigwig's Farm
[All Africa] War veterans have invaded a farm owned by former Regional Integration and International Cooperation deputy minister Reuben Marumahoko claiming that it is too big for him.

The farm, 10km east of Karoi town, is among Hurungwe farms that measure more than 1 000 hectares, according to an investigation by the District Lands Identification Committee (DLIC) in March this year.

Hurungwe district war veterans' secretary of information and publicity, Anthony Zunzanyika confirmed the invasion of Mashala Farm, saying they were following government policy.

"This is not an invasion but a government policy that recommended that farms within region 2B must be 400 hectares," he said.

"We have been waiting for authorities to act. We believe at least 37 plot holders will be allocated 20 hectares each at Mashala Farm.

"We are not casting any stones at anyone politically.

"As war veterans, we have our 20% allocation and currently we have seven members on the ground."

Marumahoko, who is also the Hurungwe North MP, yesterday said the invasion of his farm was illegal.

"I am away in Bulawayo. Once I go back, I will make sure that police chase them away," he said.

"These are the people causing veld fires at my farm. I have lost all the grass for cattle."

Meanwhile,
...back at the hanging, Butch continued with his last words, trying not to repeat himself too often......
Zunzanyika accused Hurungwe East MP Sarah Mahoka of fuelling corruption in the allocation of land in the district.

But Mahoka said there was no bad blood between her and war veterans.

"I work well with war veterans in Hurungwe East. I know nothing about the other issues being raised," she said.

War veterans are said to be targeting another farm owned by former Environment minister Francis Nhema's brother, which they say must be subdivided.

Zimbabwe: Soldiers Run Amok in Chitungwiza
[All Africa] Seke Unit O shops in Chitungwiza have resembled a war zone each evening for the past week as soldiers wantonly beat up residents in retaliation for the murder of their colleague by an unknown gang of pimps and hookers.

A soldier allegedly died after he was assaulted a week ago by pimps hired by a hooker after she discovered he had some significant sum of money in his Ecocash wallet.

A vendor at Unit O shops only identified as Naomi said: "A soldier was attacked by pimps hired by a hooker who had discovered he had $900 in his Ecocash wallet.

"It seems they wanted to get his pin code so that they could steal his money.

"After the attack, soldiers have been coming here each night on retaliatory attacks.

"The random attack of civilians by soldiers has taken a toll on our businesses as we now close earlier than our usual times each day as a means to remain safe from the rogue military elements," she added.

Another resident, Lawrence Sibiya said the soldiers had been giving them a hard time since the incident.

"We have had a torrid time since last Saturday when soldiers came here wantonly beating people, trying to get information on the people who killed their colleague," he said.

"They have been coming every evening around 7pm forcing all the shops to close."

while admitting they handled a murder case, officers at Chitungwiza cop shoppe said they were not allowed to speak to the press.

Police front man Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi was not immediately available for comment.
"I can say no more!"
as his mobile phone went unanswered.

Kenya Puts Bounty In Hunt For Suspected Al Shabaab Members
[RADIOSHABELLE] The Government has in the last two years placed over Sh100 million bounty on heads of about 35 wanted terror suspects. The money is for reward on information leading to arrest of most wanted Al-Shabaab

While some suspects have either been placed in durance vile

or killed by security agents in Kenya and neighbouring Somalia, many still remain in hiding.

A security bigshot privy to the Anti-terrorism operations told Sunday Standard that the bounties have had a great impact in tracking some terrorists.

Mohammed Mohamud alias Mohammed Kuno, a Kenyan al-Shabaab leader is said to have led the heinous Garissa University College massacre in which 147 people were killed in April 2015. He holds the highest bounty at Sh20 million.

The suspect, also known as Dulyadin Gamadhere, hails from the Ogaden tribe in Garissa County.

He has been linked to several terror attacks in the country, including the September 2013 Westgate Shopping Mall raid in which 67 people were killed.

Israel forces target Hamas positions in Gaza Strip
[PRESSTV] Israeli forces have launched artillery attacks on alleged Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, positions in the Gazoo Strip.

No casualties have been reported from the Sunday night attacks.

Israel claims that the attacks were launched is response to rocket fire from the Gazoo Strip that landed without causing any injuries.

The Israeli military frequently targets the Gazoo Strip, with civilians being the main victims of such attacks.

Israel has launched several wars on the Paleostinian coastal sliver, the last of which began in early July 2014. The military aggression, which ended on August 26, 2014, killed nearly 2,200 Paleostinians. Over 11,100 others were also maimed in the war.

12 Rohingya Muslims drown, scores missing as boat sinks off Bangladesh
[PRESSTV] At least 12 Rohingya Moslems have died after their boat sank en route to Bangladesh.

According to the local commander of Bangladesh Border Guard, Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Islam, on Sunday, the vessel capsized close to Shah Porir Dwip, at the mouth of the Naf River, a maritime-boundary between Bangladesh and Myanmar.

The recent sinking is only the latest of a series of sea tragedies involving Rohingya refugees. On September 28, a boat carrying about 80 refugees sank, leaving 28 dead and a large number missing.

Earlier in September, 46 bodies were recovered after another ship went down in waters between Myanmar and Bangladesh.

Iran confirms nuclear negotiator imprisoned for spying
[IsraelTimes] Iran’s judiciary confirms the five-year prison sentence given to a Canadian-Iranian member of its nuclear negotiating team on spying charges.

"Mr Abdolrasoul Dorri Esfahani... was among some who were accused of spying and providing information for foreigners and had links with two espionage services," judiciary front man Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejeie tells news hounds. "The court sentenced him to five years in prison and the verdict is final," Ejeie says.

Dorri Esfahani has a background in the banking sector and was a member of the supervisory board overseeing implementation of the nuclear deal signed between Iran and world powers in 2015.

Since mid-2016, conservative websites and members of parliament have repeatedly accused Dorri Esfahani of spying for Britannia.

South Sudan: Rebel Leader Riek Machar Accused of Enlisting Ethiopians
[All Africa] A former Æthiopian rebel leader has accused former South Sudan vice president Riek Machar of recruiting the Nuer community in Gambela region to fight on his side in the civil war in the country.

Thowath Pal Chay, the former commander of the Æthiopian Peoples Patriotic Front (EPPF), which has since signed a peace agreement with the Æthiopian government, told The EastAfrican that the use of Æthiopian Nuer could spread the conflict across the border into western Æthiopia.

The former governor of Gambela region, who has been living in exile since 1991 when his leader Mengistu Hailemariam was tossed, said Dr Machar is luring some of his former fighters with promises of high military positions and big jobs should he take over power in Juba.

Iraq
More Mosul Moslem Mayhem
16 ISIS Bad Guys die in close quarters fighting in Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Sixteen Islamic State militants were killed as they got out of tunnels in Mosul during a security operation, Jordanian’s Petra news agency reported on Sunday.

“Security troops launched an operation to blow up IS tunnels in regions of al-Midan, al-Shahwan, al-Dakka and Qulai’at, in center of the Old City of Mosul,” a security source said.

Troops, according to the source, found that militants were hiding at the tunnels so they can move between the districts. Sixteen of them were killed.

On July 10, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared victory over IS militants who had held the second largest Iraqi city since 2014. More than 25000 militants were killed throughout the campaign, which started in October.

Since the city was declared free, security troops continue to comb western Mosul areas for hidden IS cells.

Despite declaring the victory over IS there in the city, observers say IS is believed to constitute a security threat even after the group’s defeat at its main havens across Iraqi provinces.

Having recaptured Hawija in Kirkuk, Mosul and Tal Afar in Nineveh and Annah town in Anbar, Iraqi troops still have only western Anbar’s towns of Rawa and Qaim remain under the militant’s control.

Big Money Donors Trying To Overthrow Trump Revealed. Here’s The List
[DCWHISPERS] The Kellogg Foundation. The Ford Foundation. The Open Society Foundation. (G. Soros) The Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Endowment. The Marquerite Casey Foundation. Fidelity Charitable Gift. The open borders-promoting National Immigration Law Center.

These are some of the very deep pocket groups that have donated MILLIONS to the far-left, hard boy Center for Community Change which has been described as follows:

The Center for Community Change, a Washington, D.C.-based 501 (c)(3) progressive community organizing group that does not reveal its donors, has been involved in direct action against President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
and Republicans before and after the November elections. The organization’s members sit on the boards of other prominent liberal activist groups. LINK

You want to know why so few members of Congress are willing to work with POTUS Trump? Look no further than the above list which in turn represents a powerhouse lobbying effort to keep the Trump White House isolated and the American people suffering because the America-first Trump agenda is being stifled.

At the very same time the Ford Foundation was collaborating with The Center for Community Change it was seeking to exert its influence much more directly upon the Establishment Media as outlined via this report last summer:

...According to the Washington Post, the Ford Foundation has given the newspaper some $500,000 to hire four new staff ‐ a lucrative $125,000 per job deal. The goal: to try "new approaches to preserve and advance high-quality journalism."

The above scenario is being played out among media outlets all across the country and is a critical part of the "eliminate Trump" effort that began as soon as he won the 2016 Election.

And you want to know who some of the powerful Establishment Republicans are who have been taking cash from these far-left anti-American groups? Here is a partial list that went public nearly two years ago:

Records: Soros Fund Execs Funded Paul Ryan
...Speaker of the House, U.S. Representative for Wisconsin's 1st congressional district, serving since 1999. He is a member of the Republican Party. He proposed an alternative to President Obama's 2011 budget and made himself the target of both Democrat and Republican verbal pies...
, Marco Rubio
The diminutive 13-year-old Republican U.S. Senator from Florida...
, Jeb Bush, John Maverick McCain
... the Senator-for-Life from Arizona, former presidential candidate and even more former foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution. As an ordinary citizen he greased the infamous hookers peeing on the Obamabed in Moscow dossier in an attempt to smear President Trump...
, John Kasich
...political has-been current Republican governor of Ohio...
, Lindsey Graham
... the endangered South Carolina RINO, fellow maverick of Honest John McCain...
in 2016

...The biggest recipient of Soros-connected cash in the GOP was none other than House Speaker Paul Ryan, who repeatedly attempted to undermine Trump over the course of the election. (And continues to do so now via obstruction and support of ongoing Congressional investigations.)

A coup took place in American in 2008. If you didn’t know that it’s simply because the Establishment Media has lied about it ever since ‐ because it too was part of the overthrow of power.

The 2016 Election was a conscious and subconscious effort by millions of American voters to fight back. There were some who voted for Donald Trump simply because their gut informed them he was different. He was not part of the D.C. political cabal. Theirs was not a vote for a party or a specific ideology. They simply wanted to be part of saving the country.

2016 was a battle won but the war very much rages on.

Politico with the mother of all corrections last week
[WashingtonExaminer] As a journalist, it's always painful to see corrections published. When a story requires two corrections, it's humiliating. When it requires three, people have a right to ask what's wrong with you.

Enter Politico.

In an article this week, titled "Puerto Rico's Tragedy Was Years in the Making," freelance journalist Alejandra Rosa alleged that known associates of wealthy libertarians Charles and David Koch had a hand in getting Congress to establish Puerto Rico's fiscal control board. She alleged that the board reduced the island's minimum wage rate to $4. Rosa also wrote that the U.S. Congress imposed austerity measures on the unincorporated island.

None of this is true.

Politico published an embarrassing 125-word update eventually, which read:

Corrections: An earlier version of this article stated that associates of the Koch brothers proposed and lobbied Congress to pass the law establishing Puerto Rico's fiscal control board. There is no evidence of any Koch involvement in the passage of the law. An earlier version of this article also stated that the fiscal control board had reduced the minimum wage in Puerto Rico to 4 dollars an hour. The board did not lower the minimum wage, the governor did. And the governor raised it this year. An earlier version of this article stated that the U.S. Congress imposed austerity measures on Puerto Rico. The fiscal control board established by Congress instructed the commonwealth to work towards balancing its budget. The governor decided what cuts to make.

Well, okay then.

At this point, you might start wondering if the writer's name is even Alejandra Rosa.

-Land of the Free
Greenfield: The Culture War of Gun Control
After Vegas, the gun control memes and myths come out. It doesn't matter how wrong they are, they will echo in the mediasphere and then the talking points will leak into everyday conversations.

“Guns are uniquely lethal.”

Last year, a Muslim terrorist with a truck killed 86 people and wounded another 458.

Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, the Tunisian Muslim killer, had brought along a gun, but it proved largely ineffective. The deadliest weapon of the delivery driver was a truck. Mohammed, who was no genius, used it to kill more people than Stephen Paddock would with all his meticulous planning in Vegas.

Do we need truck control?

Deadlier than the truck is the jet plane. Nearly 3,000 people were killed on September 11 by terrorists with a plan and some box cutters. And then there are always the bombs.

The Boston Marathon bomber wounded 264, a suicide bomber at the Manchester Arena last year wounded 250 and the Oklahoma City Bombing (the only non-Islamic terror attack on the list) killed 168 and wounded 680. Paddock was also stockpiling explosive compounds. If he hadn’t been able to get his hands on firearms, he would have deployed bombs. And potentially killed even more people.

We know how many people Paddock was able to kill with firearms. We don’t know how many people he would have been able to murder with a truck or with explosives.

The mass killer who most ominously resembles Paddock was Francisco Gonzales: a Filipino with financial problems who shot the pilot and co-pilot on a gambler’s special flight from Reno. Back in Reno, Gonzales had told a casino worker that it wouldn’t matter how much he lost. The plane went down with everyone on board. Gonzales had a gun, but his actual murder weapon was a plane.

Guns are not uniquely lethal. We live in a world filled with extremely lethal objects from chemical compounds to big trucks. We can license and regulate some things. But we can’t regulate everything.

“This is the only country where this happens.”

That’s the leftist meme deployed after the Vegas shooting. But Paddock’s death toll narrowly edges out that of South Korea’s rampage killer Woo Bum-kon who murdered 56 people. America is not the only country where rampage killers operate. And their attacks have nothing to do with the racist construct of “white privilege”. It’s the leftist conviction that America is uniquely evil that accounts for the myth.

Seung-Hui Cho, one of this country's worst rampage killers who murdered 32 people at Virginia Tech, was South Korean.

But the worst rampage killer in South Korea didn’t use a gun. He set a train on fire.

Kim Dae-han, a paralyzed middle aged man, started a subway fire that killed 192 people and wounded 150 others.

Guns aren’t uniquely lethal. Neither is America. Or South Korea. Or anywhere.

“A mass shooting happens in this country every few days.”

There’s no myth that is getting a bigger workout after the Vegas shootings than that of the ubiquitous mass shooter. The myth conflates drug violence in Chicago, which is nearly constant, with rampage killers like Stephen Paddock or Adam Lanza, who are far rarer, and Islamic terrorists like Omar Mateen.

Mass shootings and rampage killers are not the same thing.

Do we really have a “mass shooting” every few days? Most gun violence in this country is really gang violence. The mass shooting trackers list gang violence incidents in urban areas before the Vegas attack. And gang violence doesn’t depend on guns. It sharply rose in the UK despite gun control.

And it’s the left that has crippled the laws meant to fight gangs and drug dealers. Obama initiated a drug dealer pardon amnesty even while calling for more gun control. But the only way to control gang violence is by cracking down on gangs, not on guns. The pro-crime left deems such measures a “school-to-prison pipeline” that’s little more than “modern slavery”. And so the gang violence goes on.

Most gun violence takes place in Democrat territory. And it’s caused by leftist pro-crime policies.

By conflating an Adam Lanza with a gang member shooting up a street corner in Chicago, the media hides what is really going on. Rampage killers are rare. Gang violence is commonplace. By making rampage killers into the face of gun violence, the left gets to blame its own policies on the NRA.

Fifth Column
Reassessing Orwell to Understand Our Times
[AMERICANTHINKER] Social media have great power to narrow the range of acceptable thought. On Facebook, those who openly support a politically correct view -- what appears to be the popular majority view -- are frequently lauded with thumbs up, while dissenters often remain silent to avoid being criticized or denounced. All of which leads to what is called "the spiral of silence," which reinforces the groupthink of what seems to be the social and cultural majority.

What comfortable and disengaged Americans have forgotten is that there are determined enemies within and there is an internal war being waged against the values and institutions that made America a great nation.

The left is the vanguard leading this war, following a course laid out by cultural Marxists such as Antonio Gramsci and members of the Frankfurt School. Becoming influential in the 1930s and beyond, they believed the "long march through the institutions" was the best route to taking power in developed, industrialized societies such as the United States and Europe. This "march" would be a gradual process of radicalization of social and cultural institutions -- "the superstructure" -- of bourgeois society, which would transform the values and morals of society. In retrospect, there is a high correlation between the softening of morals over the last two or three generations and the corruption of our family, political, legal and, economic foundation.

There are three measures of the establishment’s venality. First there is a high incidence of denial, manifest for instance in little to no discussion of the doubling of national debt in just 9 years to over $20 trillion, and unfunded entitlement liabilities now five times greater than that -- conditions inviting financial collapse of the U.S. A second measure of corruption is the establishment’s reluctance to prosecute fellow establishment law breakers in government, which has effectively created a two-tiered justice system. A third measure of establishment corruption is its accommodation of turban anti-American groups as though they have a legitimate role to play in reform and influence on policy-making -- whether in taking down historic monuments, creating sanctuary cities and controlling the nation’s borders, establishing police protocols in law enforcement, fighting wars overseas, or restructuring the economy at home.

The hostility to the Trump Presidency by the establishment elite in both political parties, the media, the teachers’ unions, the university faculties, and Hollywood is probably a contrary indicator. It likely tells us more about the real state of corruption in government, the establishment media, and popular culture than it does about Trump and his peccadillos.

A society committed to maintaining liberty, prosperity, and opportunity for all needs to focus on real threats, a key one of which is now the loss of freedom of speech and the assault on the First Amendment.

One of our nation’s founders, Patrick Henry of Richmond, Virginia, was a gifted and passionate orator best known for his declaration, "Give me liberty or give me death." But his most important, substantive and lasting contribution to the legacy of freedom was his tenacious and ultimately successful fight to have the Bill of Rights amended to the Constitution because of his conviction that the First Amendment and nine others were absolutely necessary to protect individual liberty against the power and abuse of centralized government.

Orwell reminds us today of the critical importance of the First Amendment, noting "if liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear." Exactly the opposite of the current trajectory and what the politically correct crowd wants.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Turkish troops fighting al-Nusra Takfiris near Idlib
Turkish troops on Sunday exchanged fire with Syria-based Takfiri militants as Ankara massed military vehicles on the frontier ahead of an expected operation in Idlib province.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday announced the launch of an operation by pro-Ankara Syrian militant forces, backed by the Turkish army, to re-impose security in Idlib.

Most of the northwestern region is controlled by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a group led by Al-Qaeda’s Syria affiliate Nusra Front.

Turkey has massed special forces and military hardware including tanks on the border but the operation has yet to begin in earnest, monitors and sources on the ground said.

But Turkish forces fired seven mortars over the border with the aim of easing the passage of the pro-Ankara Syrian forces, the Dogan news agency reported.

Turkish forces have also been seen removing parts of the security wall Ankara has built on the border so that military vehicles can pass through into Syria.

Pro-government Turkish media said that the operation was now into its “second day” and it was not immediately clear what the Turkish military’s next move would be.

On Sunday morning, HTS militants opened fire on Turkish forces removing part of a wall along the border between Turkey and Idlib, witnesses and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor said.

The Observatory reported “heavy exchanges of fire”, but said the incident did not appear to mark the start of the operation Erdogan described on Saturday.

Turkish armored vehicles and troops were waiting on the border, from where smoke could be seen from the mortar fire, an AFP photographer said.

More from Asharq al-Awsat

Ankara, Beirut – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan launched a “major military operation” in Syria’s northwestern province Idlib.

The offensive is led by rebel factions belonging to the Free Syrian Army but with the support of Turkish forces and Russian air support to fight off Tahrir al-Sham factions, among which is al-Nusra Front.

“There’s a serious operation in Syria’s Idlib today and it will continue,” Erdogan said in a speech to his AK Party on Saturday, adding that Turkey would not allow a “terror corridor” on its border with Syria.

“For now the Free Syrian Army is carrying out the operation there,” he said. “Russia is supporting the operation from the air, and our armed forces from inside Turkey’s borders.”

Late on Saturday, Turkey deployed tanks and military vehicles on the its Syrian border, building up military presence, a Reuters witness said.

Erdogan told reporters after the meeting that Russia supports the operation from the air while supported by Turkish soldiers from within the Turkish border.

“As for the Russians, they will not have a role in the areas of our control at all. The role of the Russians is limited to areas under regime control,” he said.

Ankara, Moscow and Tehran announced a deal last month to establish and patrol a “de-escalation” zone in the Idlib region, where Erdogan has said Turkey will deploy troops.

Turkey’s foreign minister said late on Saturday that Turkey aimed to prevent clashes in Idlib.

“Russian and Iranian observers will be in some regions here, and we will have our observers inside Idlib. Of course they will be in safe places so there will be no risks,” Mevlut Cavusoglu told reporters.

More so, Erdogan said that his country is currently taking a new step to achieve security in Idlib as part of its efforts to expand the scope of the “Euphrates Shield”.

He pointed out to the presence of serious action currently taking place in Idlib to achieve security.

In the same context, the Turkish army deployed a large number of special forces and armored military vehicles, which were sent over the past week to the town of Reyhanlı, a town and district of Hatay Province, on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, near the country’s border with Syria.

Britain
Ireland: Che Guevara anniversary stamp approved by Cabinet
[Irish Examiner] The postal service unveiled the controversial €1 stamp amid criticism on social media from members of the public who argue that the revolutionary’s legacy makes him an inappropriate subject for inclusion on an Irish stamp.

A spokesperson for An Post said the image chosen was part of a stamp programme which is signed off by the Government, which also has approval on the final individual images chosen.

An Post said its stamps are varied and reflect the broad interests of the public. By way of example, it said a stamp commemorating the 100th anniversary of reported apparitions at Fatima will be released shortly.

The image of Che Guevara, a key figure in the Cuban revolution, is an iconic picture by Irish artist Jim Fitzpatrick.

“The stamp, designed by Red&Grey, is based on Jim Fitzpatrick’s artwork, which appears on t-shirts, posters, badges, and clothing worldwide and is now rated among the world’s top 10 most iconic images,” An Post said.

The stamp and a special first day cover envelope are available from main post offices, from the stamp counters at Dublin’s GPO, and online at irishstamps.ie.

Newsweek retracts story about Marilou Danley
I am beginning to think it is not just the old dead tree platform that is broken. I think it is American journalism itself that is broken, sullied by political agendas and abject ignorance about a wide range of subjects.
But especially when it comes to firearms.

[FoxNews] Newsweek issued another embarrassing retraction on Tuesday evening about a story that falsely detailed the life of the Las Vegas shooter's girlfriend with salacious information that turned out to be fake news.

Citing public records, the original story claimed Stephen Paddock's girlfriend, Marilou Danley, had used two social security accounts and had two husbands at the same time. The now-retracted story said that Danley is the “one person who holds the key to solving the mystery” of the deadliest mass shooting in American history. Newsweek painted her as “a shadowy figure with a convoluted life of her own,” who lived “an unconventional life.”

Unfortunately for Newsweek, the initial report was based on the marriage record of Danley, who was known under a different name when she married Geary Danley in Clark County, Nevada, according to the magazine.

“Newsweek mistakenly matched that record to a second public record of a different person,” the publication wrote explaining the retraction. “Newsweek regrets the error.”

Newsweek has now issued at least 20 corrections in 2017, including at least one per month, and even has a page on its website dedicated to its mistakes. The magazine admitted to over 50 mistakes in 2016 and even apologized for a story that praised an assault on white nationalist Richard Spencer earlier this year. Mistakes are so common at Newsweek that every digital article features a “submit correction” option beneath the text.

The latest retracted story was reported by Melina Delkic, but the correction features the byline “Newsweek staff.” Delkic covers breaking news and politics for Newsweek and refers to herself a journalism school “drop-out” on her Twitter bio.

Newsweek did not immediately respond when asked whether or not she will be disciplined for the retracted story, while Delkic declined to comment.

A lot of information has emerged since Newsweek’s original story falsely claimed Danley had “multiple Social Security numbers,” and she has since denied any wrongdoing.

"I knew Stephen Paddock as a kind, caring, quiet man," Danley said in a statement read by her attorney outside FBI headquarters in Los Angeles on Wednesday. "I loved him and hoped for a quiet future together with him. He never said anything to me or took any action that I was aware of that I understood in any way to be a warning that something horrible like this was going to happen."

Danley was questioned by federal agents for much of the day after returning from her native Philippines, where she had been for more than two weeks. While Danley was on her way back from the Philippines, a Newsweek editor was busy praising the now-retracted story on Twitter.

As first reported by TheWrap, a Newsweek breaking news editor bragged about the “exclusive” look into the shooter’s “weird” girlfriend that turned out to be fake news.

Gersh Kuntzman wrote, in a tweet that had still not been deleted at the time this article was published, “The great @MelinaDelkic shows us how it’s done with this EXCLUSIVE look at LV shooter’s weird girlfriend.” As TheWrap pointed out, Kuntzman’s Twitter feed is filled with comments referring to gun owners as “crazy” and mocking President Trump.

Kuntzman did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
Apparently Gersh Kuntzman is over his PTSD from firing an AR-15 at a Philadelphia gun range18 months ago, sufficiently so he can shoot his mouth off (so to speak) about a mass shooting.

#3  The judicial decree that separated public from private citizens in the determination of libel is in direct contradiction to the 14th Amendment of equal standing before the law. Btw, at that time the lady from Des Monies was president of the US journalism's main professional society.

5 al-Qaeda operatives die in drone attack in Marib
ADEN: A drone strike on Sunday killed five suspected Al-Qaeda militants in the Yemeni province of Marib, east of the capital Sanaa, security officials said.

One official said a US drone had probably carried out the strike, which targeted a car in the province’s Saoud district.

The US considers the Yemen-based Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) to be the radical group’s most dangerous branch.

AQAP has flourished in the chaos of the country’s civil war.

A long-running drone war against AQAP has intensified since US President Donald Trump took office in January.

An air raid he ordered that month killed a US Navy SEAL and several Yemeni civilians in Baida province, just south of Marib.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran’s IRGC to treat US troops like Daesh if blacklisted
[PRESSTV] The chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says Iran will treat US troops like ISIS Death Eaters who will have to move their military bases farther from Iran's borders if Washington blacklists his force.

Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari's warning on Sunday came after reports that US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
is expected to announce new measures against Iran, including the prospect of additional targeted sanctions and the designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organization.

"As we have announced in the past, if America's new law for sanctions is enforced, this country will have to move its regional bases outside the 2,000 km radius of the Iranian missiles' range," the ISNA news agency quoted him as saying.

By the new law, Gen. Jafari was referring to the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) that Trump signed into law on August 2 after it passed a Senate vote.

Jafari said Iran "deems the implementation of CAATSA equal to America’s unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA," which will allow the country to exponentially enhance its missile capabilities.

The JCPOA stands for the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action - the nuclear accord which Tehran reached with the US and other countries in 2015 to limit its nuclear program in exchange for lifting of sanctions.

Trump is expected to announce soon that he will "decertify" the deal in a step that potentially could cause the accord to unravel.

"We will use the opportunity of the stupid behavior of the Trump government to achieve a leap in defense, missile and regional programs," Gen. Jafari said.

A senior US administration official, cited by the Financial Times, said on Friday that Trump would not seek the reimposition of broad sanctions that would risk collapsing the accord but was expected to announce new measures.

Those measures will include additional targeted sanctions, the blacklisting of the IRGC and the adoption of a tougher stance on what Washington calls Iranian proxies in Syria, Iraq and Yemen, the official was quoted as saying.

#1  "...have to move its regional bases outside the 2,000 km radius of the Iranian missiles' range"

Again this strangely specific and precise demand suggests that withdrawal of US forces to bases no closer than 2,000 km to Iran is something that the Obama administration secretly agreed to.

If Trump won't release secret elements of the Iran nuclear agreement then the Iranians might do it.

Death threats follow local vegan’s Facebook post about Vegas shootings
[TIMESLEADER] WILKES-BARRE ‐ The Mother Nature Vegan Cuisine food truck is no more and its owner finds herself in the middle of a firestorm for insensitive comments about the people killed in the Las Vegas massacre.
Past insensitive, well into vicious, in fact...
Delinda Jensen, 60, has received death threats after posting this Facebook comment: "Yes I am jaded. Fifty nine meat eaters dead. How many animals will live because of this?" She then made a comment under the post that said: "I don’t give a (expletive) about carnists anymore."
My reponse would be: Save the vegetables! Eat more meat!
Jensen, a former adjunct history professor at Marywood University,
Comes as a surprise, don't it?
said Thursday she is living in fear since her post set off an intense backlash on social media earlier this week. She is out of business and her bright green food truck is in a secret storage area.
Oh, noze! Not the bright green food truck!
"I (expletive) up," Jensen said while sitting at her kitchen table with son and business partner, Kyle, 28. "Was it poorly written? Absolutely. Do I regret it? Yes. I am so sorry I wrote that."
Not because of the viciousness, because of the loss of business...
Many Facebook users shared Jensen’s post, which generated hundreds of hate-filled comments and threats and little defense of her stance.
Are they hate-filled comments? Or are they reactions to her hatred? Lots of people stick with trading like for like. Death threats? Lessee here... How many adjunct professors have said terrible things in the past ten years about people they feel superior to without knowing them, how many have complained of death threats, and how many have actually been rubbed out?
Jensen emphatically insisted she was not happy about the death of 59 people.
Nor would any of the 59 people, had they not been murdered, have taken any pleasure in her abrupt demise.
"Meat eaters or not, no one deserves to die like that," Jensen said. "I wasn’t celebrating the death of those people. That’s not how vegans think ‐ we are non-violent."
Yet she feels free to refer to us as "carnists," the sort of neologism derived from "racist."
In trying to explain her motivation for writing the post, Jensen wanted to make the point that too many animals are tortured and killed every year ‐ she estimated 20 billion-plus ‐ and consumed by humans.
It wouldn't be cost effective to torture animals before killing them. There were 152.7 million hogs marketed in 2013, 23.1 billion pounds, at about 64 cents a pound. It's big business, not one where there's a lot of time or even opportunity for flogging or gouging eyes or that sort of thing. Little male piggies get the snip usually at three days. I think most farmers still snip the shoats' teeth to keep them from damaging each other and Mom's udders. Nor is there a desire to mistreat them. Unhappy piggies aren't fat piggies. If I recall correctly, there's slightly more pork than beef (and veal) produced per year, with chicken close behind, and turkey following.
Jensen, who became a vegan two years ago, said people can eat good food without the inhumanity of abusing and killing innocent animals. She said one vegan translates to saving 155 animals per year.
...out of 152,700,000 produced per year. Nor will that keep them alive. We export an awful lot of pig meat. Anything that Kroger's doesn't want to buy will likely end up at the Choi Duc Oi Meatery in Hanoi or someplace like that.
Remember all that salt pork the British Navy ate during the Napoleonic War? We've been supplying the world for a very long time.
Since Jensen’s post went up late Monday, she said she has received hundreds of abusive comments, phone calls and even death threats.
But she's neither dead nor damaged, is she?
She and Kyle said they had to install a security camera system for protection. Kyle said many vehicles have driven by their Mill Street home in Wilkes-Barre ‐ with people shouting obscenities and threats. The Jensens said they had to call police several times because they feared for their safety.
"Help! Help! We're under siege by carnophiles!
‘Lynch mob forming’
Jensen deactivated her Facebook account, but not before her post was shared countless times, causing a nationwide controversy. Jensen said she was told that someone even contacted media outlets in Las Vegas to inform them of her post.
Now, why would they do that?
"It’s almost like a lynch mob is forming," said Jensen. "It’s seems that it’s no longer about the Facebook post ‐ now it’s about eating meat."
Nope. Still about the Facebook post. Nobody gives a crap what she eats.
Jensen is angry at herself for what she called "a moment of stupidity."
Not for a lifetime's, mind you...
She felt her vegan business was doing good for people, giving them a healthy alternative. Jensen would bring her truck to Public Square on Mondays and it was very popular. "We even gave food to the homeless for free," she said.
Dat's very nice of you. Did you care if they were murdered if they happened to eat a baloney sandwich?
But now, "We’re done. We canceled all of our booked events. We had a really good product, too."
"More kale?"
"Yes, thankew. And some of dat nice kohl rabi!"
"You got anything with protein in it?"
"Have a peanut!"
"But I...!"
"Shuddup and eat yer broccoli! It's good for you!"

If she could, she would contact the families of all the Las Vegas victims to personally apologize. Instead, as she deals with the loss of her business and a steady stream of harsh criticism, she’s afraid to leave her home. "There’s just so much visceral hate out there," she said.
And she's some of it.
In addition to clearing their Facebook accounts, Jensen and her son have deactivated all of their electronic devices.
Except for their security camera.
Jensen said she asked Kyle’s friends to go out and buy some paint so she could pass the time painting the walls and ceilings in her home. "It will be like therapy," she said. "I have nothing else to do right now. I have no avenue to apologize. I can’t even think of going back on Facebook."
Actually, therapy's like therapy. Painting's a lot more like painting.
’We are not bad people’
That's arguable.
Jensen said she has no idea where she goes from here ‐ she doesn’t know how she will earn a living.
Maybe get a job at the grocery store, ringing up meat purchases? I understand CBS has an opening, but y'gotta be a lawyer.
"I’ll just take it one day at a time," she said. "I understand the tragedies of history ‐ there’s never anything to celebrate. I never once felt ’Yay, yippee, 59 people are dead.’"
But neither did she give a crap, since they were "carnists."
Jensen knows what it’s like to lose a loved one ‐ her husband did away with himself.
If I lived with a dipshit I probably would, too...
In the past few days, she and her son have gotten a real sample of the inhumanity and hate in the world.
After she burped out a bit of her own...
She said people driving by her home have shouted all sorts of horrible things ‐ profanity, threats ‐ and they have attacked her for being a vegan.
How do you attack somebody for being vegist?
"We are not bad people," she said.
Sure you aren't.
"We are aware that there are people on social media who have been trying to organize groups to come after us."
Put a name on them. Back up the claim.
So at night, Jensen and her son lock all the doors and turn out the lights. They leave porch lights on so security cameras can record anyone trying to get near them. "I did write an apology on Facebook right after the post went up," Jensen said. "It didn’t matter. People were already running with it."
Probably because it was mean and vicious?
Kyle, who has a degree in culinary arts, is sure he will find another job. "I’m not mad at my mom," he said. "We are a family. We’ve been through a lot. But people have destroyed our business."
It's all about them, not about 59 anonymous deaders who liked hamburgers and pot roast and pork chops...
How does she know some of them weren't vegan? Nothing about liking country music militates against it.

Breitbart Goes ‘Old Hickory’ in Tennessee, Gets 2 Establishment Scalps
[BREITBART] In three short weeks Breitbart News reporting drove two of the three leading establishment Republicans in Tennessee out of the state’s 2018 U.S. Senate race.

First up was incumbent Senator Bob Corker (R-TN), who made a surprise announcement on September 26 he would not run for re-election, one day after a Breitbart News report about his sweetheart deal in an Alabama retail center development in which Alabama taxpayers are set to pay him more than $3 million over 20 years in sales tax incentive rebates.

Though his announcement that he would not seek re-election was couched in terms that claimed it had been made "[a]fter much thought, consideration and family discussion over the past year," its suddenness‐and the fact that Corker felt compelled to offer a lame and incomplete explanation for his investment in a deal that epitomizes the swamp in which the political elite thrive‐underscores the potency of the Breitbart News report.

Then came Gov. Bill Haslam, like Corker a "moderate" establishment Republican from East Tennessee.

With Corker out of the race, all eyes turned to the scion of the wealthy Haslam family, whose personal $2.5 billion net worth derives from his inherited ownership interest in the Pilot Flying J national truck stop chain.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
3 dead, 19 hurt in weekend violence; city passes 500th fatal shooting
[CHICAGO.SUNTIMES] A man rubbed out Friday evening was the 500th person to be killed in city gun violence since the start of the year during a weekend in which three people have been killed and at least 19 others maimed in reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
shootings.

The city reached 500 shooting homicides about a week later than it did last year, on Sept. 29, 2016, according to data maintained by the Chicago Sun-Times. At this point last year, there had been 511 people shot to death.

In all, 537 deaths have been ruled homicides in the city since the start of this year, according to Sun-Times data.

The 18-year-old became the 500th person shot to death when he was found unresponsive by officers about 4:45 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of East 83rd Street in the East Chatham neighborhood on the South Side, according to Chicago Police. He suffered a gunshot wound to his chest and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died. The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not released his identity, pending notification of his family.

Two other men were shot to death about 10:50 a.m. Saturday in the Pilsen neighborhood on the South Side. Alexis Salgado, 20, and a still-unidentified 18-year-old man were driving in the 1800 block of South Throop when they flashed a gun at someone standing on the street, authorities said. The person on the street pulled out their own gun and fired shots at the vehicle, striking both men. Salgado suffered a gunshot wound to his body and tried to get out of the vehicle, but collapsed; the younger man was shot in the neck, and both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The weekend’s latest nonfatal shooting happened at 5:21 a.m. Sunday in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side. A 21-year-old man was standing on the corner in the 2400 block of South Whipple when a black vehicle approached and someone inside fired shots, striking the man in the left leg, police said. He was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

At least 18 other people have been maimed in shootings across Chicago since 4:30 p.m. Friday, police said. Follow city violence with the Chicago Sun-Times weekend shootings tracker.
