FBI Insiders Blow Whistle on Massive Las Vegas Cover Up; Agents Told Not to Investigate Key Evidence Including ISIS Terror Link to Mandalay Bay Massacre
[True Pundit] The “official” narrative you’ve been fed by the FBI and Las Vegas officials about the massacre at Mandalay Bay that claimed 58 lives is purely fiction, a polished story contrived to cover up the disturbing facts surrounding the worst mass shooting ever in the United States, according the FBI insiders and high-ranking intelligence officials.

And now, after months of corporate-infused spin by MGM Resorts and outright lies from officials in the FBI and the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, federal agents and intelligence officials are spilling the beans about what really happened on and before the Oct. 1 massacre.

“It’s a movie script that was written after the shooting to rewrite what really happened,” one FBI agent said. “The investigation is an entirely different story that we are not allowed to talk about. If we do and get caught, we get fired and probably charged (criminally).”

But why the cover up?

The answer to that is perhaps even more complicated than the revelations surrounding the shooting, which can only be explained as shocking and troubling to everyday Americans not connected to the law enforcement community and political machine that has become today’s FBI. While few if any bright Americans believed the official back story of the supposed Stephen Paddock rampage, the truth — it turns out — is even more bizarre than fiction here.

In fact, it’s downright frightening.

The FBI maintains that Stephen Paddock — the reported lone gunman — was a mystery man and his motive for killing dozens and injuring over 500 people still has not been pinpointed. Those assertions are simply untrue, FBI officials confirm. Lies. In the coming weeks, True Pundit will detail various parts of its investigation into the shooting and more importantly, paint a detailed portrait of the events leading to the shooting and Paddock’s likely accomplices and associates.

The major, shocking revelations include:

#3  The article said it is likely Trump and Wray did not know about things brought out in this article. Given there are "insider FBI whistleblowers" that have spilled the beans who did the whistleblowers blow the whistle to? To the DOJ IG since they didn't to Wray or Trump? Or was it only to TP?

There have always been things about this shooting that did not square. I can understand that criminal investigations need to be protected to some degree. However, a little transparency within that boundary would help the victims, the victim's survivors and the rest of us as well.

Is TP credible? The article might be taken with some caution until more is known.

Poisoning of Russian spy raises troubling questions
London (CNN)It's more than a week in and we still know very little about the poisonings in the cathedral city of Salisbury in southern England. Former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal, 66, and his daughter, Yulia, 33, remain hospitalized in "very serious condition."

Here are four big questions that remain unanswered.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Florida Man Avoids Millions in Taxes by Hiding Illegal Aliens From Payroll
[Townhall] This story is a little over a week and half old, but it remains topical. A Florida man avoided paying millions in social security, federal, income and Medicare taxes by failing to report a number of illegal aliens working on his payroll. However, his story also shows the potentially dangerous work environment that exists for illegal aliens when immigration laws are neglected.

Mac Johnson owns several roofing, tree services, and dumpster businesses. According to WCJB ABC 20 News, he "devised a scheme to conceal the amount of wages earned by his undocumented alien employees to avoid paying more than $1.7 million in federal income, Medicare, and social security taxes, as well as more than $1 million in Florida worker’s compensation premiums."

"Johnson concealed the wages from the State of Florida by inaccurately and incompletely identifying all employees, representing that lower wages were paid than the true amounts, and paying by cash or a non-payroll check in amounts of less than $10,000 to avoid reporting requirements," the local media added.

According to the United States Justice Department, Johnson pled guilty on Tuesday February 27th to "tax fraud, wire fraud, structuring financial transactions to evade reporting requirements, and harboring undocumented aliens." Johnson also rented several properties to the illegal aliens working for him and deducted money from their paycheck to supplement rent.

Think about that and its impact upon the creation of new jobs and businesses. Now scroll down to the article about the Donk tax increase. Never do they contemplate the negative consequences of spend, spend, spend and tax, tax, tax. Programs and regulations have impact. How about in the next Constitution the requirement for Congress and the Bureaucracy to submit a 'economic impact statement' with every new piece of legislation or regulation that carries with it a 'death switch' if what happens isn't reflected in the impact statement.

Why Democrats Would Lose the Second Civil War, Too
[Townhall] It’s obvious that the central tenet of the Democrat Party platform is now hatred and contempt for Normal Americans. Taking their cue from the elites in Europe and Canada who are stripping dissenters of their free speech rights and religious freedoms, the leftist elite is moving to solidify its hold on power here with the eager assistance of tech companies and the moral support of the Fredocons who yearn to return to pseudo-relevance as the ruling class’s slobberingly loyal opposition. In California, the leftist government is practically firing on Fort Sumter. And nationally, these aspiring fascists are especially eager to disarm Normal Americans ‐ doing so would be an object lesson in who’s the boss, as well as solving that frustrating problem of the Normals having the ability to resist.

Probably because I’ve spent time where they actually had a civil war, many people ask me ‐ people whose names you know ‐ whether I think this turmoil will all end in a Second Civil War. They are seriously concerned, and not without cause ‐ the left’s hatred for Normal Americans and its dedication to totally stripping the people who are the backbone of this country of their ability to participate in their own governance is threatening to rip the country apart.

Britain
Muzzie Mayor of London Warns Tech Companies and Sylicon Valley
[Breitbart] Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has warned major technology companies such as Facebook and Twitter to do more on the issue of "hate speech," or face fines and greater regulation.

Talking to the UK Disinformation Service BBC ahead of the South by Southwest (SXSW) technology festival in Austin, Texas, Khan said that companies must be "chivvied and cajoled to take action."

"We have evolving economies, which means we should have evolving regulations," he said. "For too long politicians and policymakers have allowed this revolution to take place around us and we’ve had our heads in the sand."

He went on to reference German hate speech laws, put in place by Angela Merkel in response to growing resentment at her open-door migration policy, with companies now facing fines up to 50 million euros.

"Germany is an example of where the German government said ’Enough," he continued. "Unless you take down hate messages, unless you take down fake news, we will fine you’.

"I want to work with the tech companies, but you have to be responsible," he added.

Khan also reiterated his opposition to President Donald Trump, claiming that Trump’s decision to retweet a member far-right activist group Britain First had led to increased levels of abuse directed at him.

Economy
Worse than Hitler!
[MODUS A.D.] Employment up! Unemployment down! (Unexpectedly.)
Payrolls rose 313,000 in February, compared with the 205,000 median estimate in a survey of economists, and the two prior months were revised higher by 54,000, Labor Department figures showed Friday.

Women and minorities hardest hit!

Black, Hispanic unemployment hit historic lows:
Just 6.9 percent of black adults were unemployed in February, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the second-lowest such ratio since the agency has been keeping track.

Hispanic workers, too, are currently enjoying historically low rates of unemployment. At 4.9 percent in February, Hispanic unemployment is just a tenth of a percentage point above the historic low. [I presume we’re talking about legal Hispanic employment]

Not only that, but we’ve finally reversed the downward spiral of the labor participation rate:
An increase in the labor force participation rate to its highest level since September helped keep the headline unemployment number steady, as the number of those counted as not in the workforce tumbled by 653,000 to just over 95 million.

The total counted as "employed" in the household survey surged by 785,000 to a record 155.2 million.

Will this national nightmare never end!?! It’s all good news for America which means it’s all bad news for progressives.

Here's who gave the ‘Stand Down' order on countering Putin's election hacking
[Right Scoop] So according to a new book coming out soon, the Obama administration knew that there was Putin hacking on our election in 2018, but when our sooper-smart counter-hackers mounted an attack against their Siberian krokodil-addicted doping keyboard-jockeys, they were told to STAND DOWN.

Skipping the Susan Rice "Stand Down' order insert which we've already read.

Now the book is Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump, by Michael Isikoff and David Corn, who is a foul wretched liberal. So I think we should take it with a grain of salt. But on the other hand I could totally see it being accurate ‐ as a conservative, my best known principle is that government is utterly incompetent. And if that’s the case, then I could definitely see them backing down because they honestly thought Hillary had it in the bag and they didn’t need to push back against Putin. Just another perfect storm ending in a s-storm...

#1  .....government is utterly incompetent.

"Incompetent?" No, not at all.

(1.) It was the 'no-cost' strategic "insurance" necessary to validate the Trump electronic monitoring effort and gain the assistance of foreign intelligence services.

(2.) In the unlikely event of a Trump victory, discredit and invalidate a potential Trump win and bring charges of Russian collusion agains key Trump staff members and possibly Trump himself.

(3.) Provide political projection as a cover for action for their own Uranium One misdeeds.

Classic counterintelligence exploitation, and a strategy well beyond the planning and capabilities of the DNC or the scatter brained Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

Democrats Pin Midterm Hopes on Tax Hike Plan
[LI] Earlier this week Senate Democrats introduced a tax plan designed to show what Democrats can be expected to do should they win back majorities in Congress.

Their press release refers to their avoidance of "gimmicks and giveaways"; this appears to be a reference to the bonuses, pay raises, and private sector investment and job creation afforded by the new tax law. All of which, the Democrat proposal would roll back.

The Democrat’s plan calls for new taxes, rolling back the death tax, cutting off the "crumbs" that are making their way into Americans’ wallets, and $1 trillion in infrastructure spending, among other items.

China-Japan-Koreas
Jimmy Carter on North Korea: ‘It's good we're going to be talking to them'
[Atlanta Journal Constipation] Former President Jimmy Carter said Sunday that "while I don’t agree with everything that President Trump has done, I think it’s good that he’s decided to go" meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

"If we could avoid a nuclear confrontation with North Korea, that would be a wonderful achievement," Carter, 93, told his Sunday school class at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains. "It’s good we’re going to be talking to them."

Thursday’s announcement that Trump would accept Kim’s invitation to meet has been controversial in some quarters. It was especially timely where Carter was concerned.

"I had made arrangements last week with the White House to have some experts come down and give me an up-to-date briefing on what’s going on concerning North Korea," he said. "They came down the day that Kim Jong Un invited Trump to come over. So we had a lot to talk about."

[Breitbart] American workers whose lives were uprooted by multinational free trade deals are thanking President Trump for signing into law tariffs on imported steel and aluminum to protect U.S. jobs.

In a series of videos by the White House, American workers thanked Trump for putting into place a 25 percent tariff on imported steel and a 10 percent tariff on imported aluminum, two moves that are designed to counteract decades of U.S. jobs readily moving overseas and displacement of U.S. workers due to multinational free trade deals. The video explains:
"Two years ago, we had to shut down 60 percent of our capacity," Dusty Stevens, the superintendent of Century Aluminum says in the video. "My father worked in the industry."

"My brother was also affected by the downturn of us having to shut down the lines," Stevens said. "He lost his job and he had a wife and family and a small child at home."

"With the tariffs being put on, we will benefit greatly from this and hopefully give our plant some longevity," Stevens continued. "Now this is giving us the capability of going back to full capacity. It’s the difference between losing 500 jobs and adding 300. So for my family, it gives us total confidence that I will be employed for many years to come versus only having a year or two left."

Scott Sauritch, a maintenance worker with U.S. steel said his father was in the steel industry and lost his job in the 1980’s due to imports, noting the toll it took on him and his five siblings whom his father had to support:

#1  US steel workers don't understand that they are just pawns for a bigger game.

And Europe shouldn't play it. My advice for the EU would be not to retaliate. Europe should enact safeguard duties to ensure it doesn't get flooded with cheap Asian steel. When George W. Bush instituted tariffs on steel imports in 2002, EU safeguards fully mitigated the risk of redirected imports and supported gradual but robust growth in the EU steel industry.

Trump wants to bully Europe into concessions and we should simply ignore it. Ignoring him is what Trump hates most.

#13  Look how far gone we are. The idea that we should change the rules that benefit the rich to benefit our own workers instead is taken as some sort of insult. Wow.

The Europeans are scared shitless. They've profited handsomely from trade for decades. That plus the free US security enables them to fund a lavish welfare state. When this free money from the sweat of American workers dries up, Europe is going to be in real trouble. Hence all the hysterics. They can't imagine a world in which they have to pay their own way.

It's like a spoiled child who became a spoiled adult, and is now 30 years old and getting kicked out of his parents' basement. The concept of going it alone is terrifying.

#16  Nobody is "scared shitless" here if the U.S. charges tariffs on steel. We'll cope with that.

What really worries us (and I might say most economists in the U.S. as well) is that Trump may kill the WTO, which would be truly catastrophic for global trade. And unfortunately many Trump supporters don't realize that this will hit America just as hard as it will hit the rest of the world.

That's why I recommend to keep calm and do nothing in order not to escalate the situation.

Trump has threatened to charge a 25% (or higher) tariff on European cars. This would be a flagrant violation of WTO rules because the Most Favored Nation principle means that you must charge the same amount of tariff to all countries with MFN status. So if you charge a 2.5% tariff on Japanese or Korean cars, you MUST (by WTO rules the U.S. signed) charge the same tariff on German or French cars. There is absolutely no justifiable reason to put a 25% tariff on Mercedes or BMW cars.

Trump may try his schtick with his national emergency nonsense, but this would certainly not work with cars.

He would simply kill the WTO which would lead to an explosion of protectionism and retaliatory tariffs all over the world.

The result? Global depression.

Multinational trade deals may kill jobs but they also create new ones. The thing is that they create more than they kill. And that includes jobs in the U.S.

#19  Good question. Pascal Lamy, former Secretary-General of the WTO and EU Trade Commissioner actually thinks that a "Plan B" would work.

From an interview in the German Zeit (my translation)

Lamy: The big issue for the meetings with the Chinese is the subsidies granted by the government to their producers. The big issue with the Americans is that they are causing too much damage to the WTO, that they are boycotting the proceedings there. On the other hand, European politicians should build alliances with Brazil, Indonesia, Japan, Switzerland, Norway, Australia and New Zealand. There are plenty of countries that want a sensible middle way and that all have a problem when the United States destabilizes the WTO. The USA can then be explained in peace and quiet: We have a plan B.

ZEIT: A plan B?

Lamy: Yes, a WTO without the USA. So think twice about it, Mr Trump, before you smash the World Trade Organisation! Because if we have a WTO without the United States, you are sitting outside in the cold.

Jihadist civil war continues in northern Syria after short ceasefire

[ALMASDARNEWS] Just moments after the 48 hour ceasefire ended, the jihadist rebels resumed their month long civil war in the Aleppo, Hama, and Idlib governorate of northern Syria.

According to pro-opposition activists, the festivities occurred in the western countryside of Aleppo, today, after Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
refused any peace agreement with Jabhat Tahrir Souriya.

Intense festivities are ongoing at the moment, with Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham attempting to advance into the west Aleppo towns under Jabhat Tahrir Souriya’s control.

China's Parliament Puts Xi on Course to Rule for Life
[AnNahar] China's Xi Jinping on Sunday secured a path to rule indefinitely as parliament abolished presidential term limits, handing him almost total authority to pursue a vision of transforming the nation into an economic and military superpower.

The move reverses the era of "collective" leadership and orderly succession that was promoted by late paramount leader Deng Xiaoping to ensure stability following the turbulent one-man rule of Communist China's founder Mao Zedong.

The historic constitutional amendment breezed through the rubber-stamp parliament with 2,958 in favour, two against and three abstentions despite an unusual bout of online criticism that censors have scrambled to extinguish.

#7  The presidency used to be a ceremonial, head of state-like, title - much like the Governor General of Canada. The real power behind the throne was the Chairman of the Central Military Commission - essentially the commander of the Party's Army, the PLA. Hu Jintao became president in March 2003. But it wasn't until September 2004 that Jiang Zemin handed the reins of power to him, by letting him assume the title of CMC Chairman.

16 'extremely dangerous' armed takfiris killed, three leaders arrested in Sinai: Egypt's military
[AlAhram] The armed forces front man said on Sunday that the military had killed and captured several snuffies in raids in Sinai based on intelligence provided by members of the public

Egypt’s military said on Sunday it had killed 16 "extremely dangerous and armed takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who most be killed...
s" in Sinai since Wednesday as part of the ongoing Operation Sinai 2018 counter-terrorism effort.

In an official statement, the 15th since the comprehensive operation was launched more than a month ago, Egypt’s armed forces front man Tamer El-Refaie said four takfiris had been killed and three leaders tossed in the clink
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
in mountainous areas in Central Sinai, based on intelligence provided by the "honorable citizens of Sinai".

Another 12 armed takfiri forces of Evil were killed during a shootout as armed-forces units conducted raids in Sinai, with the takfiris found in possession of weapons and satellite communication devices.

The Arabic word "takfiri" refers to hard boy Sunni Moslems who accuse other Moslems of being infidels, often as a justification for using violence against them.

According to El-Refaie's statement, a non-commissioned officer and a private soldier from the army were killed in the gunfire, with one officer, a non-commissioned officer and four private soldiers injured.

Meanwhile,
...back at the chili cook-off, Chuck reached for the green sauce...
the Egyptian air force destroyed nine targets used by terrorist elements, including a hideout, a water tanker and three booby-trapped 4x4 vehicles.

An underground cache of weapons was found by the armed forces in raids in Rafah, including 34 BM-21 "Grad" rocket launchers, Kornet anti-tank guided missiles, and four shoulder-launched anti-tank RPGs.

Highly explosive C4 and TNT material was also found by armed-forces units, who destroyed a storehouse used to manufacture improvised bombs (IEDs) in North Sinai’s Sheikh Zuweid, with around 130 bombs discovered.

Trenches filled with weaponry, ammunition and military uniforms were also destroyed.

Military engineers detected and destroyed a tunnel opening inside one of the houses located along Egypt's border, also detonating and neutralizing 83 bombs that were planted to target troops in the area, and confiscating books that assert the takfiri ideology.

Also destroyed were 285 hideouts in North and Central Sinai containing ammunition, IEDs, books, satellite communications, and a media centre. Six cars and 32 unlicensed cycle of violences, some of them hidden underground, were likewise destroyed.

More than 4,680 kilograms of ready-to-sell narcotics were also seized after the armed forces discovered and destroyed six farms growing marijuana and opium poppies.

The navy, in cooperation with the interior ministry, seized a commercial ship in the vicinity of Alexandria Port carrying around 3.5 tonnes of cannabis.

The army said its border guards, in cooperation with air-force units, destroyed five 4x4 vehicles as they attempted to infiltrate into Egyptian through the Western Desert.

In addition, the statement said, combined military and police units continued to secure and protect public and private property, manning 610 security checkpoints nationwide, and arresting a number of suspects and wanted criminals.

The military has also been working with the supply ministry to provide food convoys in Sinai, as well as opening a number of outlets selling food at low prices, continuing the state's efforts to support the people of North and Central Sinai.

Operation Sinai 2018 was launched "to implement the plan of comprehensive confrontation of terrorist and criminal elements and organizations in North and Central Sinai, and in other areas in the Nile Delta and desert areas west of the Nile Valley," according to the armed forces.

In a presser on Thursday, El-Refai said that 105 takfiris and 16 army personnel have been killed since the anti-terrorism operation started on 9 February.

Gaza resident arrested after crossing into Israel with grenade, knife

two Paleostinians early Sunday after they separately crossed the border fence from the Gazoo Strip into Israel, one of them carrying weapons.

The military said in a statement that troops apprehended the two Gazooks shortly after they had crossed the fence.

One was found carrying a grenade and a knife. The army said he is suspected of planning to carry out a terror attack in Israel.

One of the suspects is from the north of the Strip while the other was from the south.

The army said the two incidents appeared unrelated due to the different locations.

The two were transferred to security forces for interrogation, likely by the Shin Bet security service.

Gazooks are apprehended crossing into Israel fairly regularly, many of them apparently seeking to escape an increasingly difficult humanitarian situation in the Strip. Suspects are believed to sometimes carry weapons in the hopes of being sent to Israeli prison rather than back to the Paleostinian enclave.

In the West Bank overnight, troops apprehended four terror suspects in overnight raids, and conducted a "major" operation that netted Paleostinians suspects illegally crossing into Israeli territory, the army said.

Forces also caught three Paleostinians with Molotov cocktails near a road where Israelis commonly drive, with the IDF saying it was checking whether they had thrown Molotov cocktails at passing vehicles in several instances over the past month.

In sixth incident in months, Palestinians caught trying to bomb court
[IsraelTimes] Security forces on Sunday foiled an attempt to smuggle two pipe bombs into the Samaria Military Court, in the latest of a spate of attempted bombings at the West Bank facility.

Two Paleostinians, both 16-year-old residents of Jenin, were detained by Border Police guards at the security checkpoint at the entrance to the court, a police statement said.

Each of them was hiding a pipe bomb on his body, and both were taken for questioning, the statement continued.

The suspects were also found to each be holding a lighter, with which officers suspect they intended to ignite the bombs.

The entrance to the court was temporarily blocked while a sapper inspected the devices, which contained explosives, and neutralized them.

The Samaria Military Court has been targeted repeatedly in the past few months by Paleostinians carrying pipe bombs.

ICE seeks illegal immigrant in Colorado fatal hit-and-run who bonded out of jail
[FoxNews] Ivan Zamarripa-Castaneda, 26, allegedly fled the scene of the accident on Interstate 70 involving a tractor-trailer that caught on fire last week, leaving the driver to die, according to the Denver Police Department.

The 26-year-old had bond posted at $25,000, meaning he could get out of jail for $2,500 and avoid federal immigration officials until his next court date. That's because the Denver Police Department and other state agencies stopped honoring detainer orders from ICE since 2013 after courts ruled it was illegal.

The Denver Sheriff Department, which operates the jail, told Fox News last week that unless ICE gets a federal criminal warrant that Zamarripa-Castaneda could leave detention after posting bond.

ICE officials told Fox News last week they detain up to 40,000 people per day, and don't have the resources to go after every federal warrant.

Actually this is a Federalism issue that has been getting more severe as the national prison population expands: the Feds are too busy/cheap($$) so they are effectively having the States pay to house their suspects, the States are doing it to the Counties, and the Counties to the Cities... Everyone wants someone else to pay for the upkeep.
There is also the whole 'Free the Pot/illegals/etc' cause du jour grandstanding by the locals...

The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province of Afghanistan, the local officials said Sunday.

Provincial governor’s front man Attaullah Khogyani said a 8-month-old child was also recovered from the custody of the kidnappers.

Khogyani further added that the child, Hamza, was kidnapped from a clinic belonging to Dr. Marwa in the 4th police district of Jalalabad city nearly a week ago.

He said the kidnappers of the child were arrested during an operation of the Afghan intelligence operatives in Ikmalati Base area of the city.

The kidnapped child was also recovered during the operation and was handed over to his family, Khogyani added.

This comes as criminal related incidents including kidnappings are on the rise in the key cities of the country despite efforts are underway to ensure law and order by the security forces.

This is not the first time a woman has been arrested in connection to a kidnapping case as several women have been arrested in connection to the similar incidents as well as other charges including murder, drugs smuggling, and robbery.

Turkish warplanes conduct raids in northern Iraq, destroy 18 PKK targets
[ALMASDARNEWS] In conjunction with allied Syrian Lion of Islams, the Ottoman Turkish military launched operation Olive Branch in January 2018 to oust Kurdish-led forces, which allegedly have ties to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), from parts of northern Syria near the border with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
Ottoman Turkish warplanes conducted a series of raids across northern Iraq over the weekend, successfully destroying 18 PKK targets, according to reports by Ottoman Turkish media.

Areas targeted include the Zap, Metina, Gara and Hakurk regions of Iraq, according to information released by the Ottoman Turkish military. Details regarding the number of casualties inflicted or the specific targets of the Arclight airstrikes are yet to be released.

The group ‐ which is designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU ‐ maintains a military presence in northern Iraq near the Turkey-Iraq and Iran-Iraq borders.

Turkey has regularly carried out similar attacks against the PKK in northern Iraq, and Ottoman Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu recently said that they would be conducting joint military operations with Iraqi forces, though he didn’t specify when this campaign will begin, or if it will include a ground offensive.
Iraqi News adds:
In a statement, a copy of which was obtained by Alghad Press, the Ottoman Turkish military said the air raids started on Saturday and lasted until Sunday, targeting the Hakurk, Zap, Metina and Avasin regions in northern Iraq.

Lebanon’s political power clans pass their assembly seats to the next generation
[ARABNEWS] Nine years have passed since the last election in Leb, and voters could be forgiven for being excited to see some fresh young faces standing to win seats in a Parliament dominated by aging men.

But in many cases the names, and what they stand for, are all too familiar.

Nearly a quarter of the 128 seats are expected to be passed on from an older relative to another member of the family, as the country’s politics of clans and dynasties shows little sign of fading. Of these, 19 candidates are standing for seats currently held by a father or mother.

Iraq
Eight turbans, including two emirs, tied up in Mosul
Nineveh (Iraqinews.com) – Eight Islamic State (IS) militants were arrested Sunday in a military operation in Mosul city as Iraqi troops continue to hunt for IS insurgents scattered across the country in the aftermath of their crushing defeat in December, an official source was quoted as saying .

Speaking to the German Press Agency (DPA), Colonel Hassan Emad said, “The Islamic State militants were arrested at al-Ba’aj district, 70 km north west of Mosul, after receiving accurate intelligence reports on their locations.”

“Among the arrested are two senior IS leaders, who assume top posts at the so-called Baytul Mal (House of Money) and defense ministry of the Islamic State,” Emad said.

“All those arrested in the military operation were taken to a lockup for interrogation,” he concluded.

Cairo denies reports that 100 Egyptians were deported from Germany
This is queer... a follow up to this report from last Friday.
[AlAhram] Egypt's ambassador to Germany has denied media reports that a hundred Egyptians were deported to Cairo over violations of residency requirements, the Egyptian foreign ministry said in a statement.

According to Ambassador Badr Abdel-Ati, only nine Egyptians were deported from Germany on Thursday for violations of residency requirements.

"The nine Egyptians were deported after several months of coordination with the Egyptian embassy in Berlin and the Egyptian consulates in Frankfurt and Hamburg, as well the Egyptian authorities back in Cairo, to issue them travel documents," he said in his statement.

On Wednesday, Rooters quoted anonymous officials at Cairo International Airport as saying that a flight had landed in Cairo carrying 100 Egyptian deportees, adding that it was the first time for Germany to deport such numbers to Cairo.

Abdel-Ati added that if that flight from Cairo to Frankfurt that had on board a hundred passengers, then the majority were from the technical, media and security support teams, insisting that Egyptian deportees were not more than nine.

Syrian Army surrounds Jaysh Al-Islam stronghold in East Ghouta
[ALMASDARNEWS] Earlier, the Russian military said that Death Eaters in Eastern Ghouta are considering letting several dozen of residents leave the area in exchange for free passage, together with their families.

According to media reports, the Syrian army has completely surrounded the major town of Douma, a Damascus suburb in Eastern Ghouta, after advancing from Mesraba to Mudeira.

Advancing Syrian government forces joined troops from near the town of Harasta, splitting the remainder of the eastern Ghouta krazed killer-controlled enclave in two.

On Thursday, according to media reports, the Syrian Arab Army managed to deploy near Douma, while other army units were reportedly advancing further, to Mesraba from Beit Sawa; troops were expected to launch a large-scale attack on the two towns.

Earlier, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted resolution 2401, urging all parties to the conflict to immediately stop all festivities and adhere to a long-term humanitarian pause affecting the entire territory of Syria in order to ensure the safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid supplies as well as provide medical evacuation of those injured.

The ceasefire regime does not apply, however, to military operations against terrorist groups.

Eastern Ghouta was occupied by anti-government Islamist murderous Moslems in 2012. After the recent UN resolution, the fighting in the area didn’t abate, even when the humanitarian pause was in place, the Russian Defense Ministry said. As Death Eaters constantly target all exits from the enclave, civilians cannot leave the area safely.

Syrian Army prepares to storm strategic East Ghouta town

[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their large-scale advance in the East Ghouta region, today, seizing several areas from the Salafist tough guys near the key suburb of Harasta.

Led by the Tiger Forces and 4th Division, the Syrian Army managed to split the East Ghouta region into three pockets after a short battle with the Salafist tough guys.

Below is a virtual map that shows the Syrian Arab Army’s gains since they began their offensive on February 25th.

Delegation from Syria Rebel Enclave Mulls Evacuation Deal

[AnNahar] A delegation from Syria's rebel-held Eastern Ghouta was on Sunday considering a partial evacuation deal to halt a fierce government offensive, a negotiator and monitor told AFP.

The two main rebel groups in the region, which borders Damascus, have firmly and repeatedly denied negotiating with the Syrian regime.

But on Sunday, as the government's Russian-backed assault entered its fourth week, influential figures in one rebel-held town were considering a possible evacuation offer.

A committee from Hammuriyeh met with regime representatives on Saturday, a member of the committee told AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity.

"The committee discussed a proposed reconciliation that would guarantee exit for those that want to leave, both civilians and rebels, from Hammuriyeh to other areas in Syria under rebel control," the delegation member said.

Civilians and fighters may be bused to rebel-controlled parts of Daraa province in Syria's south, or to Idlib in the northwest, held by rebels and a former al-Qaida affiliate.

"The committee is meeting on Sunday to take a decision and inform the regime. If they do not agree, there would be a resumption of the military operation on Ghouta, including Hammuriyeh," the delegation member added.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based war monitor, said negotiations for evacuations from multiple towns were ongoing Sunday.

"A decision could be taken any moment for Hammuriyeh, Jisreen, and Saqba," said Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman.

In recent years, the regime has recaptured several areas around Damascus from rebels by pursuing fierce military offensives culminating in evacuation deals.

But Faylaq al-Rahman, the opposition faction that holds Hammuriyeh, denied it was engaging in talks.

"There are no direct or indirect negotiations with the Russian enemy or its allies," said the group's spokesman Wael Alwan.

"No one has been authorized to negotiate on behalf of Ghouta's revolutionaries, institutions, or the Free Syrian Army.

Feds Bust CEO Allegedly Selling Custom BlackBerry Phones to Sinaloa Drug Cartel
[Motherboard] Phantom Secure is one of the most infamous companies in the secure phone industry. Sources and court documents detail that its owner has been arrested for allegedly helping criminal organizations.

“FBI are flexing their muscle,” one source familiar with the secure phone industry, and who gave Motherboard specific and accurate details about the operation before it was public knowledge, said. Motherboard granted the sources in this story anonymity to talk about sensitive developments in the secure phone trade. The source said the Phantom operation was carried out in partnership with Canadian and Australian authorities.

A complaint filed in the Southern District of California on Thursday charges Vincent Ramos, the founder and CEO of Canada-based Phantom, with racketeering conspiracy to conduct enterprise affairs, as well as conspiracy to distribute narcotics, and aiding and abetting. Authorities arrested Ramos on Thursday, according to the court docket. Crucially, the complaint alleges that Ramos and Phantom were not simply incidental to a crime, like Apple might be when a criminal uses an iPhone, but that the company was specifically created to facilitate criminal activity.

Hezbollah Deputy Chief pledges to counter US, Israel attacks on Lebanon
[ALMASDARNEWS] The deputy chief of Leb-based Hezbollah group, Sheikh Naim Qassem
... the Grand Vizier of the Hezbullies...
, asserted that his organization would shield Leb from any US or Israeli schemes to destroy the country.

Qassem said that Hezbollah contributes to Leb’s strength and stability, and that the group is a "pillar" in the country. Contrary to reporting by the western press, Hezbollah is "an integral part of empowering institutions, shaping future, maintaining independence and preventing the [Israeli] occupying regime."

"The United States is trying to subordinate Leb [to foreigners]. Israel and America spare no efforts to attack Leb and impose sanctions on us. Hezbollah, nevertheless, is an obstacle to the implementation of such policies," he declared in the southern Lebanese city of Nabatieh on Saturday.

The official added that Hezbollah would deter any attempts at meddling in Leb’s approaching parliamentary elections slated for May, and that he hoped the polls would be representative of the entire Lebanese nation.

"America seeks to meddle in these elections in order to reduce the number of our politicians and allied political blocs," Qassem stated, quoted by broadcaster al-Manar.

Addressing supporters via a televised speech from the eastern Lebanese city of Baalbek on February 24, Hezbollah leader His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
urged Lebanese citizens to participate in the upcoming May 6 elections.

"Voters should consider national interests when picking candidates and voting for them. People should approach the upcoming legislative polls from the perspective of fulfilling responsibilities towards the country," he stressed, adding that voters must not favor those who would hand over the country to the US, compromise oil reserves by any sort of alliance with Israel or conspire to destroy the country’s economy.

Arabia
First Saudi tablet with 100% local OS to be launched soon
[ARABNEWS] The first tablet in the Kingdom with the Saudi hardware "KTAB" is soon to appear after seven years of research. It is made in blue and produced by King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST).
Suggested marketing theme: "You can tell it's new, it's blue."
KTAB was produced in partnership between KACST and Mesbah Saudi Technology Company, a large team of engineers and developers. The team who helped to make this innovation a success is headed by Yasser al-Usaifir, CEO of Mesbah Tech.
The picture at the link shows what looks like an Arabic language tablet. The Home, Back, and Windows buttons are identically placed to the ones on mine. It is in fact blue and the logo has a stylized pair of wings and the (Latin) letters KTAB.
The specifications and details of the first Saudi tablet "KTAB" (Kitab is Arabic for "book") were revealed to Arab News in a special interview with al-Usaifir.
Among recognizable icons are a calendar, popup notes, contacts, and Google translate. There's a red one that says English, and a yellow one that says Learning.
The idea behind KTAB arose from the passion of creating a platform for smart devices in the Kingdom to be a research and development base for future technology projects.
Unless it is Android-based, which I'm pretty sure it is, the apps won't transport. That's what killed Blackberry's excellent Playbook.
First, many analyses and surveys were carried out regarding students’ problems and needs regarding carrying heavy devices that did not support all educational aids.
If the KTAB should go the way of the Commodore 64, and you really, really need one, buy an Acer or Samsung. You can change your display language to Arabic from the Settings app. You can also change the keyboard settings so that you can type with Arabic characters. If you use "OK, Google," you can adjust the voice settings to recognize and speak Arabic. Probably, if you own a KTAB, you can do about the same thing in reverse, only to Saudi software engineering standards.
The product also aims to reduce the consumption of paper used in printing. "KTAB is an educational channel, not a substitute for the teacher or the books, but a complementary and supportive educational tool, especially for young students as it aims to encourage them to use technology in a useful way," said al-Usaifir.
Or if you have a granddaughter, she can spend lots of time watching Peppa Pig on YouTube.
Pigs are forbidden to Muslims, as I recall...
KTAB includes all the tools that the student needs before, during and after class, at home and at school, including assignments, tests, e-books, daily lessons, visual and audio libraries. It includes applications for parents to follow up their children’s activities both inside and outside the school.
I use my Androids mostly as book readers. I do have a nicely tactile Logitech Bluetooth keyboard, and I used to have a Bluetooth mouse until one of my grandchildren lost it. It turned the tablet into a Qualcomm processor-powered PC. KTAB has Bluetooth as well.
It includes an educational encyclopedia, educational browser and contains dozens of educational sites and application videos with tutorials and explanations. "Note that these applications and their content can be customized according to the needs of the user," al-Usaifir said.
By golly, that's something you can't find on an Android!... No. Wait.
Never mind.

"It is a Saudi tablet, but there are partnerships with foreign international companies to build the tablets in a suitable way until the technology is properly settled and localized."
So they've made it China. If you really want one, go to Alibaba and order it, with free shipping.
KTAB supports 4G and quad-core processor, 2G RAM, 16 GB internal storage capacity, 128 GB capacity, 6000mAh battery, 10x 1920x1080 high-resolution display, 8MP front camera and 2GB front end.
My latest tablet ($64.00, free shipping, natch) also supports 4G. They call them Phablets, because calling them Tlones is linguistically clumsy unless you're an Aztec. I could pop in a SIM card, sign up or prepay with Cricket or AT&T or somebody and it would be a seven inch phone as well as my e-reader. I've got a 128GB mini-SD in it with eight or ten movies my granddaughter likes and lots of room for more.
"Currently, it is sold to government and private agencies and is not available to the public," al-Usaifir said.
Check with Alibaba anyway. They'll sell anybody anything, as long as the credit card goes through.
The technology is wide and can be re-used as needed. The device can be re-allocated for use in many areas, including civil defense, traffic, passports and many government departments. "We are ready to work and develop any hardware or software specialized in a particular area with high security and quality," said al-Usaifir.
In other news, Saudi Arabia has invented what they call a "wheel." I have no idea what it does.

murderous Moslems were killed and 26 more were maimed when Philippine soldiers shelled positions held by the rebels in southern Maguindanao province, the army said on Sunday.

The fighting, initially with about 50 members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters
...a MILF splinter group aligned with the Islamic State...
(BIFF), broke out in a remote village in Datu Saudi Ampatuan town from Thursday morning and lasted the following day, said Lt. Col. Gerry Besana.

A soldier was slightly maimed, the army said in a separate statement.

The number of BIFF members killed and maimed was based on intelligence information, Besana said. The military did not recover any enemy bodies, he said.

Besana said the military launched artillery attacks with air support as the number of BIFF fighters had risen to about one hundred during the fighting.

The military classifies the BIFF, which it said has about 300 members, as a terrorist organization, along with the Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
and Maute groups.

"Seventy were killed and injured (on the BIFF side), we are still pursuing about 200 more," Besana said, adding that the clash had displaced about 500 families.

The murderous Moslems in southern Philippines were regrouping, retraining and recruiting new members for another attack elsewhere after occupying the southern city of Marawi for five months last year, according to the army.

More civilians killed, wounded as jihadists shell besieged Shia towns in Idlib, Russia bombs Al Nusra HQ
[ALMASDARNEWS] For the five consecutive day, jihadi gunnies in north Idlib countryside rain down two encircled Shia towns with hundreds of mortar shells in retaliation of East Ghouta offensive.

Scores of civilians have been reported killed and injured ‐ including children ‐ in the rocket attack. Schools have been also suspended ever since to save lives.

Jihadi gunnies affiliated with al-Qaeda terror group stationed in neighboring Binnish and Sawaghiyah are using more than 5 mortar launchers to hit the beleaguered towns.

The deadly rocket attack comes ‐ according to gunnies ‐ as a response for the large-scale onslaught launched by government forces, supported by Russian Arclight airstrikes, against the rebel-held Easter Ghouta.

Russian 2,000 pound precision bomb obliterates Al-Qaeda headquarters in Idlib city

[ALMASDARNEWS] Russian warplanes have attacked high-value targets belonging to al-Qaeda affiliate militia Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham
(better known by its former name Jabhat al-Nusra

) in the northwestern Syrian city of Idlib with a series of precision Arclight airstrikes.

The strikes by Russian airpower have been conducted in response to the ongoing shelling of the besieged Shiite villages of Fouaa and Kafriyah ‐ located just to the north of Idlib city ‐ by Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham.

According to sources, Russian warplanes conducted at least five airstrikes against Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham bases, gatherings and headquarters inside Idlib city using laser guided munitions (some of the bunker buster variety).

Dozens of jihadist hard boys, some of them commanders, have been killed as a result of the bombardment.

Retaliatory rebel mortar attack kills and injures scores in Damascus
[ALMASDARNEWS] At least 6 people were killed, 24 other maimed so far when mortars fired from rebel-held areas hit the Syrian capital.

Vital and overcrowded districts and neighborhoods including Malki, Maiysat , Bab Sharqi and Jaramana suburb were indiscriminately targeted.

The bloody mortar rampage comes in retaliation for the recent military victories lately achieved by the Syrian forces in the increasingly-diminished rebel enclave in Eastern Ghouta.

Local sources reported 4 civilians tragically killed when a mortar shell hit a minibus in Jarama Suburb. 6 others were also injured in the incident.

In the meantime, the government troops literally sliced the Death Eater-controlled pocket of East Ghouta after recapturing Madira town; linking up with Army units in Harasta.

Syrian rebels shell Christian town in northwest Hama with rockets, 2 rebel towns surrender to gov’t
[ALMASDARNEWS] On Saturday, rebels linked to the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
unleashed a salvo of rocket fire at the predominately Christian town of As-Suqaylabiyah in Hama province’s northwestern countryside.

Militant forces in Hama province frequently attack As-Suqaylabiyah and sometimes the nearby Alawite-majority town of Tal Salhab with rocket fire. According to their own account, the rebels were targeting ’regime positions’ at As-Suqaylabiyah.

Russian warplanes and Syrian Army artillery normally responds to attacks on As-Suqaylabiyah by bombarding the bully boy stronghold towns of al-Latamenah and or Kafr Zita (also in northern Hama) within 24 hours.

To this end, rebel sources in Kafr Zita reported around midnight on Sunday that Russian airpower bombed the town with incendiary munitions. Footage of the counter-attack by pro-government forces (captured by Death Eater activists) will likely be released in the hours to come.

Major rebel stronghold in Syria’s Hama province reconciles with government

[ALMASDARNEWS] The rebel stronghold town of Qalaat al-Mudiq in northwest Hama province has joined the Russian-brokered Syrian reconciliation agreement reports the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD).

In the same statement, the Russian MoD said that the town of At-Touni, also located in Hama province just west of Qalaat al-Mudiq, has also joined the Syrian reconciliation agreement.

The latest peace broker has now brought the total number of reconciled settlements in Syria to 2,431 according to the Russian MoD.

Although major engagements near Qalaat al-Mudiq have not taken place for quite some time, government operations to take the stronghold in the past have produced bloody battles with defending bully boyz inflicting considerable losses on Syrian Army ranks.

At the beginning of March, it appeared that the Syrian Army was mobilizing for an attack on Qalaat al-Mudiq or areas near to it.

Iraq's Sadr and Communist Sickle Join Forces for Election
[AnNahar] Supporters of a black-turbaned Shiite holy man are seeing red in the runup to Iraq's May elections thanks to an unprecedented alliance with the once-powerful communist party.

Populist preacher Moqtada Sadr has defied his holy manal rivals and opted to campaign for the May 12 poll alongside former enemies, Marxists who demand a secular state.

"This alliance is a first in Iraq," said Ibrahim al-Jaberi, a Sadrist official.

Kirkuk clearances continue: 17 civilians toes up, “tens” of turbans plus two tied up,

Iraqi police, pro-gov’t fighters hunt for Islamic State militants in Kirkuk

Kirkuk (Iraqinews.com) – Iraqi police, backed by pro-government fighters, started on Sunday a security operation to purge villages located in southwestern the oil-rich Kirkuk province from Islamic State (IS) militants.

According to a military statement published by Sputnik, the security operation was launched “upon accurate intelligence reports to purge villages in Riyad district, southwest of Kirkuk, from Islamic State militants.”

Federal police, backed by Iraqi warplanes and fighters of the 2nd, 11th, 16th and 41st brigades of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) are taking part in the operation.

“Intelligence reports indicated that many IS militants are hiding at villages in Riyad district as they plan to carry out terrorist attacks there,” the statement read.

Kirkuk officials previously urged reinforcing military troops in the south and west of the province, as the region still has Islamic State members who escaped during the liberation of Hawija to remote areas.

Two farmers killed in bomb explosion in Iraq’s Kirkuk

Kirkuk (Iraqinews.com) – Two farmers were killed Sunday after an explosive charge left over by Islamic State (IS) militants went off in Kirkuk province, a security source was quoted as saying.

The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told IKH News that a bomb “believed to be planted by defeated IS militants went off on the outskirts of Hawija district in southwestern Kirkuk.”

“The explosion left two passing-by farms killed as they were close to the blast site,” the source said, adding that a security force immediately rushed to the explosion site and started combing the area in search for any other bombs.

According to the source, the bodies of the two slain farmers were carried to the forensic medicine department.

”Tens” of suspects arrested over links to Islamic State, southwest of Kirkuk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) The pro-government paramilitary troops have announced arresting tens of suspects over doubts of belonging to the Islamic State, during operations carried out in southwestern Kirkuk, spokesperson said on Sunday.

Speaking to the Russian Sputnik agency, Ali al-Husseini, spokesperson of the northern axis of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces), said “the target behind the operation is following IS remnants in southwest of Kirkuk in the wake of several armed attacks against the troops deployed there recently.”

“Tens of suspects were arrested, while rest houses were destroyed. Huge amounts of weapons were confiscated,” he added.

The operation, according to Husseini, was carried out in collaboration of the Federal Police and the Iraqi fighter jets. He said that the operation is likely to end within few hours.

Iraqi security troops announced, earlier today, the launch of offensives to purge several regions in Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk.

Commander says attackers of security troops in east of Kirkuk arrested

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi security troops have arrested the perpetrators of the terrorist operation that targeted Counter-Terrorism Service troops, east of Kirkuk, a commander announced.

In a statement on Sunday, Maj. Gen. Maan al-Saadi, commander of the CTS special operations, “separatists attacked on Friday the CTS patrol in east of Kirkuk, which was in charge of securing one of the headquarters of the Turkmen Front, which left one soldier killed and another injured.”

“Troops managed to arrest two of the perpetrators, who are being interrogated,” he said adding that they confessed to attacking troops as well as the headquarters.

Two other separatists managed to run away, according to Saadi.

Three Iraqi security personnel were killed and injured on Friday as the headquarters of the Turkmen Front, east of Kirkuk, was targeted by unidentified gunmen using RPGs.

Fifteen people killed, injured in Islamic State attack on Kirkuk-Baghdad road

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Fifteen civilians were killed and injured as Islamic State militants set up a checkpoint on the road between Baghdad and Kirkuk, a security source was quoted saying.

Speaking to Baghdad Today, the source said, “IS members set up an ambush between villages of Maftool and Sarha on the road linking between Kirkuk and Baghdad. They targeted civilians, leaving fifteen people killed and injured.”

No further details were provided.

“Among the victims were the brother of Amerli police department chief,” another source said, adding that he was “on the way coming back from vacation in Baghdad.”

“Five members of the family of Mohamed Hashem, photojournalist with Huna Salahuddin, were killed in the attack,” the source, who preferred anonymity, added.

Europe
Incoming German Minister Vows to Speed Up Migrant Repatriations
[AnNahar] German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslems ..
's incoming interior minister on Sunday vowed to take a tough line against convicted criminal migrants colonists and speed up repatriations of rejected asylum seekers.

Horst Seehofer, of Merkel's conservative Bavarian sister party the CSU, also promised a broader "zero-tolerance" law and order drive under their new government to be launched Wednesday.

Seehofer was long the harshest critic within Merkel's conservative bloc of her decision to open Germany's borders to a mass influx of refugees and migrants colonists since 2015.

Most of those who came across the Balkans route passed through Seehofer's southern state of Bavaria, at times more than 10,000 a day, sparking a strong backlash in the region.

In an interview with newspaper Bild am Sonntag, Seehofer said that as the new head of an expanded ministry of interior and homeland affairs, he was working on a "masterplan for speedier asylum procedures and consistent deportations."

Repatriations and deportations must be "raised significantly", he said, vowing to especially "get tougher" on those who break German law or are deemed a security threat.

"We want to remain a country that is open to the world and liberal," Seehofer said. "But when it comes to protecting the citizens, we need a strong state. I will take care of that."

Germany's mass migrant influx brought more than a million people to Europe's biggest economy, about half of them from war-torn Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.

It sparked a backlash and bolstered the rise of the anti-immigration Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, which entered parliament last September with almost 13 percent of the vote.

Merkel's fourth-term government, a coalition with the centre-left Social Democrats that is due to be sworn in this week, has vowed to keep the annual intake of new asylum seekers below 200,000.

#1  "The US developed the generally useless (but said to be very 'progressive') Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). It can't defend itself; it's very accoustically 'loud' and is dangerous to use for special warfare/SEAL operations for that reason; it has a very short operational range; there are manning issues because the crew it carries are not adequate for sustained high intensity operations; many of the modular suites of sensors and weapons haven't become available ten years later and may never be because of massive cost overruns, etc. "

Also mentions the half useless trillion dollar airplane.

The design strikes me as a helicopter fleet 'bunker' ship. Like the PT boats, useful for control of Pacific atolls. Too bad they ended up more technologically complex than the capability of their builders or operators.

Arson attack on Berlin mosque causes damage, no injuries
[IsraelTimes] German police say a mosque in Berlin has been set on fire causing severe damage. There were no injuries.

They say the mosque in the Reinickendorf district was set ablaze early Sunday, likely by three teenagers.

The group that runs the Koca Sinan Mosque writes on Facebook that the entire interior of the building was destroyed. The mosque is run by DITIP, a religious organization that’s close to the Ottoman Turkish government.

Berlin police say they’re investigating and assuming political motives behind the attack.

In separate incidents, Molotov cocktails were thrown at a Ottoman Turkish immigrants colonists’ association in the western town of Meschede also Sunday, and on a mosque in Lauffen, in southern Germany, on Friday. Nobody was injured in the attacks. Police are still investigating both incidents as well.
So many possibilities: Kurds, Shiites, Syrians, native Germans, troublemaking yoots, rival gangs, neo-Nazis... The Local - Germany adds:
Stuttgart prosecutors and local police said on Saturday that five people were being sought for attempted murder in connection to the Lauffen attack.

There were 950 attacks in Germany last year on Moslems or places linked to Islam, according to the interior ministry.

Britain's 'worst ever' child grooming scandal exposed: Hundreds of young girls raped, beaten, sold for sex and some even KILLED
SPECIAL SUNDAY MIRROR INVESTIGATION: Authorities failed to act over 40 years - despite repeated warnings to social workers - with up to 1,000 girls, some as young as 11, abused in Telford

Up to 1,000 children could have suffered in Britannia’s worst known abuse scandal - where sex gangs targeted girls as young as 11. As many as 1,000 children could have suffered at the merciless hands of perverts and torturers in Telford since the 1980s. Girls as young as 11 have been lured from their families to be drugged, beaten and raped in an epidemic that, say victims, is still ongoing.

THREE people were murdered and two others died in tragedies linked to the scandal.
