Judge Gives Obama Administration 7 Days to Appeal Health Care Ruling
U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson ruled Thursday that implementation of the health law can proceed — but he gave the Obama administration just seven days to file an appeal.

Vinson issued a stay of his own Jan. 31 ruling that declared the entire health care reform law unconstitutional. He chastised the government for not interpreting that ruling as an immediate injunction to stop implementing the new law

But in a twist, he said he interpreted the Justice Department’s request for clarity as a motion to stay, which he granted.

“Because the defendants have stated that they intend to file a subsequent motion to stay if I were to ‘clarify’ that I had intended my declaratory judgment to have immediate injunction-like effect (which I just did), I will save time in this time-is-of-the-essence case by treating the motion to clarify as one requesting a stay as well,” Vinson said.

Vinson criticized the Justice Department for not following normal procedure and requesting a stay.

“It was not expected that they would effectively ignore the order and declaratory judgment for two and one-half weeks, continue to implement the Act, and only then file a belated motion to 'clarify,'” Vinson wrote.

#1  Word to the wise...

Don't piss off a judge.

#2  Yes, someone could end up with a criminal record or get jailed for contempt.

#3  Locally, we had a former sheriff get nailed with a criminal contempt charge for lying before a judge. We also had a local attorney who got a little zealous about defending a client on a drug charge. A federal judge made his life miserable. He could not practice in Federal Court for 5 or 7 years as I recall. They can make your life health. He also had to deal with the State Board.

1st call for impeachment by member of Congress
A Republican congressman has told a left-leaning blog that if there is collective support, he would favor the impeachment of Barack Obama over his decision to stop defending the federal Defense of Marriage Act.

Scott Keyes of ThinkProgress.org asked U.S. Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz.: "I know Newt Gingrich has came out (sic) and said if they don't reverse course here, we ought to be talking about possibly impeaching either Attorney General [Eric] Holder or even President Obama to try to get them to reverse course. Do you think that is something you would support?" Keyes asked.

Franks replied: "If it could gain the collective support, absolutely. I called for Eric Holder to repudiate the policy to try terrorists within our civil courts, or resign. So it just seems like that they have an uncanny ability to get it wrong on almost all fronts."
I wondered how long it would be with a republican majority in the house before the impeachment calls came. Lord knows Obama is corrupt enough and has done enough end rounds the law and the constitution for it. I don't want him impeached though, as he is digging his own electoral grave in 2012. The dhims might actually put someone palatable up if Bambi is impeached. Doubt much will come from this.
First, what is a Pub doing talking to Think Progress. That's a recipe for stupidity.

Second, who gives a shit? Bambi will be out on January 20, 2013.

#1  "Bambi will be out on January 20, 2013."

What odds? I see them still in his favor, though not overwhelmingly so. Of course it will depend on who the Stupid Party nominates, and whether the conservative (non-RINO) wing continues to insist on all or nothing - because they WON'T get all. Oh, and it's getting reachably close for the Dems to have a majority of voting Americans dependent on the Federal government for their daily bread.....

#2  Depending on the Republican candidate and how pissed off the American public is at his inept handling of the economy means his victory or defeat. I can fully see the Republicans snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Either way, Bambi is digging his own grave. It remains to be seen if the American public wants to go with him into it.

#3  Bambi will be out on January 20, 2013

Haven't several states passed laws required all presidential candidates on their ballots provide proof that they are natural born citizens, or whatever the phrase is that sets off those who believe Barry Obama was born in Kenya or otherwise doesn't qualify to be president? If yes, whatever it was that kept him from sha ring his birth certificate thus far will certainly keep him from running next time. (Personally, I suspect it will show that Barack Obama, Sr. was not actually his father, but rather that Black Marxist poet-pervert his grandfather sent him to hang out with, but that is no doubt merely my small-mindedness.)

#4  Yeah, at this point, even Joe Biden is starting to look better.

#5  Sometime ago at the Burg I said no purpose would be served by impeachment of BO. I said this thinking that the rest of us would never hear the end of it if he were impeached. I thought it would open a lot of wounds.

I've change my mind about all that. Worse than Carter.

This from Don Surber blog today, via AP:

Georgia is the latest state to propose legislation that questions whether President Barack Obama was born in the U.S., joining 10 other states who have measures that want more proof before his name is put on the 2012 ballot.

Even though Hawaii officials have repeatedly confirmed Obama’s citizenship, his birth certificate has been made public and courts have rebuffed challenges, the so-called “birther” issue hasn’t gone away.”

People know why the birfer issue will not go away.

Millions of people simply cannot believe that anyone born in America could be this dumb

#7  One guy refusing to release any of his records, vital, academic, etc. doesn't qualify as a conspiracy, no matter how much he spent enforcing it.

I'll give you a real conspiracy theory, for your enjoyment.

Here's a picture of O's "maternal" side:

O looks exactly like his grandfather. Not like Barack Sr., or "Frank". How can that be?

He's the illegitimate son of Stanley Armour Dunham and an unknown black Hawaiian.

While revealing the birth certificate would be embarrassing, O would be a natural born, disadvantaged citizen, and would receive a large sympathy vote.

#8  Thank you, Tom--Pa.

While revealing the birth certificate would be embarrassing, O would be a natural born, disadvantaged citizen, and would receive a large sympathy vote.

KBK, he would knowingly have lied about his paternity for... however many years since he wrote the manuscript for his first autobiography. Among others, the nation of Kenya and the Muslim world might be a bit miffed about it.

Farrakhan says Mideast Unrest Is Because of the Jews
Louis Farrakhan joined an illustrious group including Ali Abdul Saleh (Yeman) and Mummar Quddafi in blaming Jews for unrest..

He also said he considers Mummar Quddafi "my brother and my friend."

Rev Jeremiah Wright, call your office.

#1  Louis Farrakhan says a lot of things--mostly diatribes about America and the Jews. Unfortunately many people listen to him. With friends like Maummar Quddafi, I'd say he has a lack of discretion about friends and enemies. In defense of this statement I'd say "bombing of nightclubs, the killing of numbers of his own people, and Pan Am 103, and who knows what other terror."

#2  Yeah, a real shock Louie's on the Blame the Joooos bandwagon. I wonder how much of a financial hit the organization took because his brother and his friend is in a bit of a jam?
