Franken challenger: Dem-controlled Senate land of '10,000 excuses'
[THEHILL] Sen. Al Franken's Republican challenger made a case Saturday for a power shift in the upper chamber, using the GOP's weekly address to bash Democrats' regulatory and education policies.

Mike McFadden, who is seen as having an uphill battle in his bid to unseat the Minnesota Democrat, accused the majority party of failed leadership in the years following the Great Recession.

"President B.O. and Senate Democrats have had their chance to turn our economy around, but all we're doing is running in place. We can do better," McFadden said.
"This November presents a tremendous opportunity for America to elect new leaders, with the vision to turn our country around, and get us back onto the path of growth and prosperity."

McFadden said the B.O. regime and congressional Democrats have presided over a regulatory agenda that has stifled the recovery. He cited a major Minnesota copper and nickel-mining project that has been stalled while its proponents await approval from seven regulatory agencies, "which is crazy."

"I believe there's a better way," he added. "Through smarter regulation and a little common sense, we can develop our natural resources in a way that creates jobs and protects the environment."

McFadden touted his years of work with a Minnesota inner-city school, where incoming freshman are one or two grade levels behind. The school, which has adopted its own specialized curriculum, now boasts a 100-percent graduation rate, he said.

"We care enough to develop a curriculum that conforms to our own standards — not a one-size-fits-all approach from Washington," he said.

Political handicappers list Minnesota's contested Senate seat as leaning in Franken's favor, but Republicans have insisted that the McFadden could make the race competitive.

McFadden said Americans are hungry for new leadership.

"Minnesota is the Land of 10,000 Lakes. But when it comes to the challenges working families are facing, all we get from Democrats is 10,000 excuses.

Breaking: Federal Court Smacks Down Eric Holder's Attack on NC Voter ID
[PJMedia] The left trumpeted a voter ID decision in Wisconsin as if it were the end of the issue. Let's see what they do with this one. A federal court today smacked down the Holder Justice Department and refused to enjoin (block) North Carolina's voter ID law, curtailment of costly early voting and end of fraud-infested same day registration. This means the state's voter ID law will be in place for the midterm congressional (and Senate) elections in November.
"raycissss - all of you crackers!"
The Justice Department had actually argued that even if black voters turned out at higher rates under voter ID (which they do), because blacks have to take the bus more and their life is generally harder, then voter ID and curtailing early voting violates the Voting Rights Act.
plus, they had to walk uphill - both ways - to get to the polls
Come now, all that exercise means they'll live longer than their non-walking white peers, and they'll be the ones to rake in the Social Security.

#5  Whenever the Dems push back so very hard against State voting requirements, one tends to think they are just trying to prepare the field for voter fraud and stolen elections.

#7  You have to have a picture ID for almost everything these days, from driving to getting medical care to checking into a hotel.
The only thing you don't need photo id for is voting.
Last time I checked into a hotel I asked the desk clerk if they had many Democrats as guests, since Democrats don't have photo id.

#8  I keep hearing that proven cases of voter fraud are thin on the ground. I'm not sure if that's true or sampling bias. Adultery is a felony in Wisconsin, but I never hear of convictions for it. Must mean there isn't any.

ISIL poses threat to America, Europe: US senator
[Iran Press TV] US Senator Marco Rubio says the ISIL terrorist group poses an imminent threat not only to the Middle East but also to the United States as well as to Europe.

In an article for TIME magazine on Friday, Rubio, who represents Florida in the Senate, wrote that ISIL will continue to move forward to threaten US interests in the Middle East unless it is stopped.

"Its expansionist ideology will lead it to attack US allies in the region and eventually Europe and the United States," said Rubio, a member of the Senate's Foreign Relations and Select Intelligence Committees.

ISIL, which is operating in Iraq and Syria, "will not rest once it has taken Erbil or Baghdad," Rubio wrote.

#1  It poses a threat because no one else will seriously raise a hand to stop it. I'm sure there will be talk, statements, and opining. Action and the will to use it is rather scarce. It is an analogy for the pattern of the plague. Refuse to isolate and abate it, and it will spread.

Posted by: Procopius2k || 08/10/2014 11:06 Comments || Top||

#6  The White House is idolatry, the Left worship the WH as the holy grail of everything they do.

With that in mind, the ISIL would consider the White House a shrine and therefore something to destroy.

#8  I first started seeing threats when they captured that airfield, reports in europe about prominant locals being accosted by ISIL reps, pictures of landmarks with threats if air support is sent to Iraq, one pic was Grand Central Station, I think.

That was all, what, about 2 months ago?

#2  Pounding the turbans into paste is a solution

That is so 19th Century realpolitik. It works, but not 'modern' or 'urban' enough for the credentialed WH crowd who spend their time with the "1 percenters" on the golf course.
Posted by: Procopius2k || 08/10/2014 9:11 Comments || Top||

#3  The "American solution" is to call in the lawyers and to ask their opinion on whether or not it's legal to bomb, shoot or otherwise hurt your enemy. The resolution to such a question is to sue and get redress in the courts (sarc).

#4  The Democrats insist on treating the War on Terrorism as a law enforcement matter instead of an armed conflict.

When EVERYONE realizes you cannot use jurisprudence to gain an end, witness gun laws and gun violence, and we decide to treat terrorism as war, we will win.

Until that time, we will be at risk of a really big one somewhere in the US.
