Police and security sources said that at least two security force members were killed and six more were maimed in the blasts.

The first explosion happened at around 7:02 a.m. on Saturday morning in the Chaman-e-Hozoori area in Kabul’s PD8, leaving no casualties, according to police. The incident was a magnetic IED blast, police said.

The second explosion happened in the west of Kabul at around 7:05 a.m. in which a magnetic IED blast targeted a vehicle carrying a bigwig from the VIP protection unit, police said.

According to police, two police force members were maimed in the blast.

The third explosion happened in Deh Sabz area in the east of Kabul. Police said it was a roadside kaboom blast that targeted a police vehicle in which three security force members were maimed.

The fourth blast happened in Deh Bori area in the west of Kabul at around 9:05 a.m. in which a police vehicle was targeted, police said.

Police added that two police force members were killed and a civilian was maimed in the blast.

Photos on social media show that some houses and shops have been damaged in the earth-shattering kaboom in Deh Bori area.

The increase in blasts and violence in various parts of the country come amidst peace efforts.

Mali army says dozen alleged jihadists killed in attack
[AlAhram] The Malian army said Saturday it killed around a dozen alleged jihadists when a military convoy was attacked near the border with Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
The attack occurred on Thursday afternoon between Dinangourou and Mondoro, the army said on Twitter.

"On the enemy's side, around a dozen bad boyz were potted," but the army suffered no losses, it said.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Russian agents foil 'Islamic State' terror attack
[DW] The Kremlin's security service says it thwarted a plot to carry out an attack in the country's southern republic of Dagestan
...a formerly inoffensive Caucasus republic currently bedevilled by low-level Islamic insurgency, occasional outbreaks of separatism, ethnic tensions and terrorism, primarily due to its proximity to Chechnya. There are several dozen ethnic groups, most of which speak either Caucasian, Turkic, or Iranian languages. Largest among these ethnic groups are the Avar, Dargin, Kumyk, Lezgin, and Laks. While Russers form less than five percent of the population, Russian remains the primary official language and the lingua franca...
. The FSB found "weapons, a large amount of ammunition and an bomb."

Russia's Federal Security Service
... the successor to the KGB...
(FSB) said Saturday it had prevented an attack by a terrorist group with links to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) gang.
The FSB said it had arrested four people who were set to carry out the offensive in the troubled southern republic of Dagestan.

"Members of the group planned to detonate an explosive close to an administrative building belonging to security services, followed by an armed attack against interior ministry employees in the city of Makhachkala," the FSB said in a statement.

WEAPONS CACHE
As well as arresting four "members of the international IS terrorist group", Sherlocks found "firearms and bladed weapons, a large amount of ammunition and an bomb", the FSB statement continued.

The security service also uncovered mobile phones containing "exchanges with organizers located abroad."
Oooohhh — fun toys for their clever boys and girls to play with.
Earlier this month, police potted two attackers targeting security forces in the republic of Chechnya, which borders Dagestan.

Six people were also killed during an October "counterterrorism" operation in Chechen capital Grozny, including two security force members.

LONG-HELD GRIEVANCES
Russia's territories in the region between the Black and Caspian Seas have been disputed for centuries.

The most recent conflict in Chechnya occurred over two wars in the 1990s and 2000s.

With the Soviet Union disintegrating, Chechen separatists declared independence. War broke out in 1994 and after two years of fighting Russian forces withdrew from the region.

Fighting resumed less than three years later resulting in a large number of casualties on both sides. Grozny was largely destroyed and the Russian military established control over the city in the spring of 2000, officially ending the war, with insurgency and hostilities continuing to varying degrees ever since.

The region has become increasingly Islamist in character in recent years. Though its influence remains limited, IS does carry out sporadic attacks against the authorities in Chechnya, Dagestan and neighboring Ingushetia.

Europe
Two Kurdish migrants en route to France hit and killed by train
[Rudaw] Two Kurdish migrants colonists en route to La Belle France died on Tuesday after being hit by a train in Italia, according to Italian media reports.

The young men killed were part of a group at least 10 people, believed to be Kurds and Afghans, walking through a tunnel in the province of Savona, northwest Italia, Italian police told European media outlets.

"The group was walking along the tracks trying to reach La Belle France, along a route that according to the police would be much busier in a few weeks, coinciding with the tightening of border controls," Euronews Italia reported on Wednesday.

A Kurdish migrant and refugee rights organization identified the two men as 23-year-old Bahroz Ismael and 19-year-old Rasti Waisi, both from the Kurdistan Region. According to The Summit Foundation for Refugee and Displaced Affairs (Lutka), Ismael and Waisi had left the Kurdistan Region due to the "financial crisis" and the "lack of jobs available".

"The group had entered Italia from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
illegally, and after being quarantined in Italia for 14 days, they attempted to get to La Belle France," Lutka said in their statement on Thursday.

Rezan Qadir, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) representative in Italia told Rudaw’s Shaho Amin on Thursday that the men accompanying Ismael and Waisi were arrested, but have since been released.

A combination of Italia’s coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
lockdown and the Christmas period means "the process of returning the bodies back to the Kurdistan Region might take longer than expected", Qadir said.

"We will try our best to return the bodies to their families as soon as possible," she added.

According to Lutka statistics released in February of this year, 564,273 people from the Kurdistan Region, the disputed territories, and other parts of Iraq migrated abroad between 2015 and early 2020.

The Grand Turk
Turkish opposition TV station shuts after 26 days
Raw courage on the hoof, all of them.
[AlAhram] Olay TV, owned by businessman and former minister Cavit Caglar, began broadcasting on November 30 and was pulled off the air on Friday

A private Ottoman Turkish TV station that aired pro-Kurdish opposition views has shut down less than a month after launch, raising press freedom concerns in a country often chastised by rights groups.

Olay TV, owned by businessman and former minister Cavit Caglar, began broadcasting on November 30 and was pulled off the air on Friday.

Its staff announced its closure live on air.

Caglar said he pulled out of the venture because the station's editorial line veered too close to the pro-Kurdish opposition, while the editor claimed he had bowed to government pressure.

Executive editor Suleyman Sarilar said on air that the network had aimed to maintain equal distance from every segment in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
's polarised society.

"But we have seen that we can no longer keep up with this kind of broadcasting ... Cavit (Caglar) said he was under intense pressure from the government and that he cannot move forward," he claimed.

The Olay TV broadcast stopped following Sarilar's announcement.

Caglar said in a statement that Olay TV abandoned impartiality and was close to the line of the Peoples' Democratic Party
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
(HDP) -- accused by the government of links to outlawed Kurdish turbans.

"I have been active in center-right politics and served this country. I was unsettled by the broadcasts of Olay TV's editorial team," he said.

"I shared my concerns with my business partner, as (Olay TV) moved from impartial to pro-HDP broadcasting. When I offered to 'create balance by including some additional colleagues in the channel,' my partner did not accept it.

"I informed him that I would not be able to continue under those circumstances and had to leave the network."

Turkey is considered one of the world's leading jailers of journalists, ranked 154 out of 180 countries on a Reporters Without Borders press freedom index.

Day 3: In Nashville Bombing, Suspect's Father and AT&T Building May Be Key Clues
Moved to Page 1: WoT and Home Front: WoT so it will be filed with the other article on the subject. We are getting close to the point where the story may be moved to Lurid Crime Tales on Page 3, but we are not yet quite there.
[Newsweek] Records show the Nashville bombing suspect's late father worked for BellSouth, a telecommunications company that merged into AT&T in 2006, before his death in July 2011 at age 78. The blast on Christmas morning detonated outside an AT&T building, injuring three people and causing service outages that have affected customers and 911 operations.

Two senior law enforcement officials who have seen the investigation reports confirmed to Newsweek on Saturday that federal investigators were searching the home of Anthony Quinn Warner, 63, who's considered a suspect in connection with the December 25 bombing. The officials requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about the case on the record.

A LexisNexis report on Anthony Warner, obtained by Newsweek, showed that he was born in January 1957, is 63 years old, located at 3724 Bakerton Road and 115 Bakertown Road in Nashville—the address authorities began searching on Saturday. The report listed Charles B. Warner and Steven L. Warner as potential relatives of the suspect, and an obit on The Tennessean confirmed that Charles Warner was survived by his sons, Steve and Tony Warner.

A separate LexisNexis report on Warner's father, obtained by Newsweek, showed that a Charles B. Warner worked at BellSouth before his death on July 5, 2011. Two of the three email addresses listed under Warner's father were also connected to BellSouth.

[Breitbart] "CBS News has learned that police have a person of interest or persons of interest in connection with the explosion that rocked Nashville on Christmas Day, @jeffpeguescbs reports," the outlet reported in a Saturday afternoon update, with CBS’s Jeff Pegues reporting Nashville area resident Anthony Quinn Warner, who reportedly "had a similar make and model RV," as the person of interest:

Anthony Quinn Warner, 63, signed the property away via a quitclaim deed to Lisa Swing, a 29-year-old woman living in Los Angeles, for $0.00, according to county records. Quinn’s signature does not appear on the November 25th transfer and she told DailyMail.com she knew absolutely nothing about it.

#10  Searching the name Lisa Swing from Besoeker’s Daily Mail link led me to the following — I have no idea how trustworthy the site is, so if you have skillz, dear Reader, here is some meat for your maw:

Who is Nashville Bombing Property Suspect: Lisa Swing

[WikiAboutWorld] Lisa Swing is identified as the mother who was given two homes worth $409,000 for free by the man identified as ‘person of interest’ Anthony Quinn Warner in the Nashville Christmas Day bombing and has said she had no knowledge of the property exchange, DailyMail.com revealed.

Warner also transferred another home on Bakertown Road to Swing via a quitclaim deed last year. The $249,000 house had previously belonged to a member of his family and Warner had only been in possession of it for five months before again giving it to Swing for free. She later also used a quitclaim to give the house to another person.

According to WSMV Nashville, the FBI is working on tips that Warner was paranoid about the idea that Americans are being spied on using 5G, which could explain by the RV exploded outside of an AT&T transmission center.

Agents also spent time searching another location on Saturday, as well as Warner’s home and spoke to a Nashville real estate agent who called in to say Warner used to work for him. Steve Fridrich told WSMV that Warner was a subcontractor who had done IT work for him for years. He claimed agents asked him about whether Warner had spoken about 5G in the past but he said no.

‘Nice guy. You know, he was a techie guy – don’t mean anything negative about that. He would do this thing and leave. He didn’t bother anybody,’ Fridrich said.

What we know so far about Lisa Swing

According to Newsweek, authorities will swab Warner’s mother to determine if he is a match to the remains found at the bomb site. The second home that Warner had transferred to Swing was also located on Bakertown Road just a short walk from the house raided on Saturday.

The transfer took place in January 2019, just months after he had acquired the house in an intrafamily exchange.

The house originally belonged to Warner’s father Charles but was passed to Warner’s brother Steve after Charles’ death in 2011.

Steve also died of cancer in September 2018, a month after Warner acquired the house.

Swing’s address in the record for the transfer is listed as Lenoir City, Tennesse, a two-hour drive from Nashville. In March 2019, she also used a quitclaim to give away the house to a person named Betty Lane, according to county records. According to her LinkedIn profile, she studied Marketing and Business and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where she remained working until 2012 when she moved to California.

Lisa Swing first lives in San Francisco before a move to Los Angeles in October 2018 where she works in artist development for Anschutz Entertainment Group.

#16  According to CBS, 'at least two tips were called in to the FBI about Warner prior to the explosion.'

It takes a lot of weirdness for someone to pick up the phone and call the FBI with a tip...much less two tips...and it still took the efforts of local citizens to call again after the explosion and say "I told ya so" and "here's your sign" to the Nashville FBI.

The FBI was tipped off about the Boston bombers too...whom I strongly suspect the FBI tried to turn as informants only to get burned. Same with Nakoula Basseley Nakoula the youtube movie guy blamed for the riots across the ME...all indicators are they tried to turn as a CI and got burned.

Just curious if this happened again?

As I recall, Tennessee, the FBI tried to turn the elder Tsarnaev brother into an informant, but he refused.

[OneIndia] Going full steam, the Uttar Pradesh police have made more than one arrest a day since the controversial anti-conversion ordinance came into effect a month ago, having apprehended about 35 people so far.

Nearly a dozen FIRs have been lodged since the Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance, 2020, was notified on November 27. Eight arrests were made from Etah, seven from Sitapur, four from Greater Noida, three each from Shahjahanpur and Azamgarh, two each from Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor and Kannauj and one each from Bareilly and Hardoi, officials said.

The first case was registered in Bareilly just a day after the legislation came into force. The police cracked the whip following a complaint of Tikaram Rathore, the father of a 20-year-girl and resident of Sharif Nagar village in Bareilly.

KRG requests US force deployment on Kurdistan Region-Rojava border: spokesperson
This doesn’t seem the kind of thing President Trump would get involved in, but heaven only knows what Joe Biden would decide to do.
[Rudaw] The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has officially requested that the United States deploy its forces on the Kurdistan Region-Rojava border to patrol the area and prevent festivities between Peshmerga forces and the People’s Protection Units (YPG), a KRG spokesperson said on Wednesday.

"To express the Kurdistan Region’s goodwill and show that it does not campaign for war, it [KRG] has requested that the American forces become a moderator between both forces [Peshmerga and YPG] so that no fighting happens," spokesperson Jotiar Adil told news hounds in Erbil.

"The Kurdistan Regional Government aims to protect the Kurdistan Region’s institutions and people," Adil said.

The request follows a string of festivities between Peshmerga forces affiliated with the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat.
(KDP) and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), and a clash between the KDP-affiliated Peshmerga and the YPG on the Kurdistan Region’s border with Rojava.

The clash with the YPG came after a number of PKK members wanted to enter the Kurdistan Region’s Sihela area which borders Rojava earlier this month, but were captured upon entry by Peshmerga forces.

Clashes ensued after a number of YPG fighters intervened. The PKK members were later released.

Peshmerga commanders accused the YPG of attacking them — an accusation the YPG denied. Though tensions have somewhat subsided, relations between the two gangs remain thorny.

Adil did not give more information about when and why they have made such a request at this time. However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
a KRG official told al-Monitor on Tuesday that the request was made to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to help curb the movement of the PKK.

Barzani’s deputy chief of staff Aziz Ahmad told the US-based news outlet that the KRG wants the US forces stationed in and around the strategic Fishkhabour border crossing between the Kurdistan Region and Rojava.

The US forces would also independently verify smuggling attempts on the border, Ahmad added, saying this "would be good" for both Erbil and Ankara. The latter regards both YPG and PKK as terrorist organizations and has launched several military operations against them. saying that they pose a threat to its national security.

Two ISIS militants killed in Kirkuk
[Rudaw] Two Islamic State (ISIS) militants were killed in a federal police operation in southwest Kirkuk province on Saturday, according to Iraq’s Ministry of Interior.

The militants were killed by units of the fifth federal police division, who set up a “tight ambush” and “besieged” the militants in Wadi Abu Shahma in Kirkuk’s southwestern Al Rashad district, the ministry announced in a statement.

The operation was directed by Iraq’s Minister of Interior Othman al-Ghanimi.

Kirkuk lies in territory disputed between the central government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Erbil.

Security has been a constant concern in disputed areas like Kirkuk. Despite being territorially defeated in Iraq in December 2017 after it swept across Iraq in 2014, ISIS has exploited security gaps between Iraqi forces and Kurdish Peshmerga in the province, with remnants of the group returning to their earlier insurgency tactics, ambushing security forces, kidnapping and executing suspected informants, and extorting money from vulnerable rural populations.

Two Kirkuk residents were kidnapped by ISIS and released for $40,000 in November after being held for six months in captivity.

Two wells were bombed at Kirkuk’s Khabbaz oilfield on December 9, security sources told Reuters. ISIS later took responsibility for the attack.

Two Iraqi security forces were killed last month in an IED explosion in Palkana village. The attack was also claimed by the terror group.

Kirkuk was under Kurdish control until October 2017, when Iraqi forces retook the disputed territories following the Kurdistan Regional Government’s failed independence referendum.

In August, four Iraqi soldiers were killed after ISIS militants opened fire on a checkpoint belonging to Iraqi security forces in the southeast of the province.

ISIS militants again attacked an Iraqi police post in Hawija district, western Kirkuk in October, killing four policemen and injuring three more, according to a local police chief.

rocket fire on Israel, army says it hit rocket manufacturing facility and saw ’secondary explosions which are suspected of causing the damage to nearby hospital’.

The Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terror group on Saturday denounced as "barbaric" overnight strikes by the Israel Defense Forces — in response to rocket fire from the Gaza Strip — that it said damaged a children’s hospital in the Paleostinian enclave.

But the Israeli military flatly denied hitting the hospital, and said exploding Hamas munitions may have done so.

The IDF said it struck three Hamas targets in the predawn hours of Saturday morning, including a rocket manufacturing site, underground infrastructure and a military post, after two rockets were fired from Gaza earlier in the evening.

The Ynet news site on Saturday, citing Paleostinian sources, reported that the rocket factory targeted in the strikes was a major facility for the terror group, used to improve the capabilities of its munitions.

Gaza’s Hamas ruler said in a statement that the strike on the site, which was also located next door to a Pepsi factory, had damaged a nearby children’s hospital and a center for people with special needs. Medical sources in Gaza said the strikes "lightly maimed" two civilians, including a child.

The Israeli army, however, insisted on Saturday afternoon that it did not strike the hospital.

"Secondary explosions, which were identified from the strike on the Hamas rocket manufacturing site, are suspected of causing the damage to the nearby hospital," an army statement said.

Hamas "deliberately places military targets at the heart of densely populated areas," while the Israeli army "takes all possible precautions to avoid harming civilians and civilian buildings," the statement added.

Strip on Saturday, N12 reported.

It was found in an empty field between the religious moshav of Shokeda and Kibbutz Be'eri, both located close to the Gaza Strip.

Luckily, the device was found before it went kaboom! and caused any damage.
