Afghanistan
Taliban defeated in battle with the Andarabis

Andarab is a valley and district in the south of Baghlan province populated by Tajiks, historically known for its grain products. It lies next to Panjshir Valley, home of Ahmad Massoud’s anti-Talib National Resistance Front, and is aligned with the NRF. It appears the Talib conquest of Afghanistan remains incomplete, despite taking women and children hostage.

#3  The ISI neglected to send their loaner officers to run the operation, no doubt. Or the Taliban are so sure of their ability after having reconquered the country that they refused to accept them.

It’s good to know the Tajiks were not erased when we stopped seeing reports of the resistance.

#5  Scuttlebutt was the Chinese have made overtures to Masoud's loyalists. They first wanted them to make peace with Kabul, then they offered covert help in resisting. Materiel, armament, ammo. Why, we cannot say. Maybe they wish to contain the conflict from spilling eastward. Maybe they're hedging bets. Many in Masoud's group lean toward commie I'm told. China is no fool. If it sees promise in Masoud, there must be a reason. I think it's just because sasquatches are bad for long term business relationships. The Taliban cannot outgrow their sasquatchery like Saudis or Turks can. Masoud's resistance is still made of moderate moslems. I don't know, maybe wrong.

#6  Tajikistan has had diplomatic relations with Israel since the 1990s, including trade and a variety of joint projects. This suggests a broad-mindedness not seen in Pashtun culture.

As for China, they reached out the the Taliban, too. We just had an article about the Talibs preserving some Buddha statues in order to turn China up sweet as they get copper(?) mines going.

Massacre at cockfight in Mexico leaves 20 dead
Follow up to this story of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel raid from a few days ago.
[THEGUARDIAN] Mexican authorities have confirmed that 20 people were killed when a group of button men stormed a cockfight, in a small town in the western state of Michoacán.

Officials and witnesses described a choreographed massacre in which assailants in military uniforms arrived just after 10.30pm on Sunday night and opened fire with assault rifles at the crowds of primarily middle-aged men.

Two small trucks, one of them branded with the logo for Sabritas, a potato chip company, were used to block the highway leading to the cockfighting arena.

Video filmed by witnesses nearby captured the sound of machine gun fire, which could be heard several miles away.

Photos leaked to social media showed the aftermath of the massacre, with barriers and chairs knocked over, and bodies scattered inside and outside the building.

Mexican police told local media they found 19 bodies — 16 men and three women. Another victim died en route to the hospital. More than 100 shells from 7.62 caliber rifles littered the ground.

The police also seized 15 cars that were on the scene.

Mexican army and national guard troops were deployed on Monday morning to capture the assailants, but it remained unclear which of the region’s many organized crime groups they belonged to.

Cockfighting, while illegal in many areas, remains a popular pastime in parts of Mexico, though the fights between roosters are usually held clandestinely.

Las Tinajas is a tiny pueblo of about 10 streets, close to Michoacán’s eastern borders with two other states, Guanajuato and Estado de México.

"Our forces carried out this morning a security operation from three main axes, in partnership with the Iraqi army and the army's aviation," Qassem Musleh, the PMF commander of Al-Anbar Operations, said in a statement.

The Commander added, "the operation is one of the PMF's major security operations since the victory over ISIS."

Israel Raids Homes of Islamic State Suspects, Arrests 2
[An Nahar] Israeli security services raided the homes of at least 12 Arab citizens and arrested two suspected of having ties to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group in a crackdown sparked by recent deadly attacks, authorities said Tuesday.

Hours before the raid, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said the recent assaults inside Israel, which killed six people, marked a "new situation" that required stepped-up security measures.

Law enforcement officials said 31 homes and sites were searched overnight in northern Israel, an area that was home to the button men who killed two coppers and maimed four more people in the city of Hadera over the weekend.

The Islamic State group claimed Sunday's attack, as well as a stabbing rampage in southern Israel last Tuesday in which four people were killed. Police shot and killed the two button men, and the stabber was shot and killed by a passerby, police said.

Israeli leaders condemned the killings and pointed to the timing. Both attacks came ahead of the Moslem holy month of Ramadan and Sunday's killings came on the eve of a high-profile meeting between the foreign ministers of four Arab nations and the United States in the Israeli Negev. All four Arab nations — Egypt, Morocco, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates — along with the United States, condemned the killings.

Ramadan is expected to begin on Saturday. Last year, festivities between Israeli police and Moslem protesters during the holy month boiled over into an 11-day war between Israel and Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,, the Islamic Death Eater group that rules Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
. Hamas praised the shooting as a "heroic operation."

Attacks by IS inside Israel are rare.

The group operates mainly in Iraq and Syria, where it has recently stepped up attacks against security forces. It no longer controls any territory but operates through sleeper cells. IS has claimed attacks against Israeli troops in the past and has branches in Afghanistan and other countries.

#1  This is how it works. IS works on the gig principle. You have islamic angst and wanna let loose, you go ahead and do it. If you're successful the IS claims it and you're suddenly a great emir. of course you're dead or in jail but the glory is yours and IS gets the points.

They don't really have the capacity for much except communications online and some payments. Outsourcing the action to willing recruits and guys already trained by any Islamist org. The only activity IS does is attract and convince the wolves to give them credit. I'm sure there's a business term for it I don't remember right now.

#2  It’s just marketing, Dron. ISIS has the reputation of being the nastiest jihadis around, so lots of those not already accredited elsewhere claim the label so they can look kewl, too.

They used to claim to be Al Qaeda, even though technically they were unaffiliated, because those were the videos they used to self-radicalize. Which is different than those who actually were seduced by the silver-tongued professional groomer calling over the internet from the home base in Raqqa/Yemen/Somalia/wherever the latest hotspot might be.

Five killed in Bnei Brak shooting
[JPost] Five people were killed in at least two locations in Bnei Brak. 11 Israelis have been killed in the past week, making it the bloodiest in recent memory.

The shooting was first reported around 8:00 p.m. on HaShnaim Street. One person was found killed in a car and two other people were shot dead on a nearby sidewalk. A video later circulating on social media showed a man yelling in Arabic and shooting at random people with an assault rifle on a residential street.

Another person was found dead on Herzl Street, perpendicular to HaShnaim Street. A fifth victim, a police officer, was evacuated to the Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus in critical condition and died from his wounds soon after.

The shooter was later shot dead by a police officer who arrived at the scene on a motorcycle. The officer, 32-year-old Arab Christian Amir Khouri, was evacuated to Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus in critical condition and died from his wounds soon after, making him the fifth victim.

The shooting in Bnai Brak was the latest attack in a new wave of terrorism, marked by the stabbing of four Israelis in Beersheba last week and the shooting of two Border Policemen in Hadera on Sunday night.

The shooter was identified as Dia Hamarsha, 27, from the village of Ya'bad in the northern West Bank near Jenin. He was jailed for half a year in 2015 for illegal arms dealing and affiliation with a terrorist group, and had worked illegally at a building site in Bnei Brak.

Another person was arrested at the scene and investigated on suspicion of assisting the shooter, and a third person was arrested later further east on Jabotinsky Street.

Bystanders repeatedly disrupted reporters on air with chants of "Death to the Arabs" and calls against Bennett and Bar Lev. A crowd attempted to overturn a car they suspected of belonging to the terrorist.

Israeli security forces conducted a widespread arrest campaign throughout the West Bank early Wednesday morning in the Balata refugee camp in Nablus, Bethlehem, Kedum, Ramallah, Marda, Ya'bad, and villages south of Bethlehem.

In a rare statement, Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas condemned the terrorist attack late on Tuesday, Israeli media reported.

"The killing of Israeli and Palestinian civilians will only lead to a deterioration of the situation ahead of Ramadan," the PA head said. "We are trying to obtain some stability."

Police arrest 8 suspects in Bnei Brak who illegally entered Israel; not tied to attack
[IsraelTimes] Police have arrested eight Paleostinians suspected of illegally entering Israel in an apparent arrest spree in Bnei Brak after tonight’s attack, Channel 12 reports. The suspects are not believed to have ties to the shooter and the possibility remains that the assailant acted alone.

4 killed in northern countryside of Daraa

Late on Monday, anonymous gunmen assaulted the house of a former member of the Syrian opposition factions killing him and his wife in al-Sanamayn city in the northern countryside of Daraa, south Syria.

Muhammed Jaber al-Etmeh, nicknamed ‘Saydalani’ and his wife identified as Hana’ al-Etmeh were critically injured after their house was targeted with handmade grenade dropped by unknown gunmen, local sources told North Press.

The two were transferred to the hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

Al-Etmeh, who joined the opposition factions before, underwent a settlement process by the government in 2018 and he joined no military formations afterwards.

A doctor working in one of the Russian-backed factions was killed on Tuesday when an explosive device exploded against his car in the northern countryside of Daraa.

“The doctor, Tha’ir Ziyad al-Balkhi, was killed as a result of the explosion of an explosive device planted in his car by unknown persons while it was in front of his house in the town of Mahja in the northern countryside of Daraa,” local sources told North Press.

“The doctor worked in the ranks of the Eighth Brigade of the Russian-backed Fifth Corps. He worked in the hospital of the city of Busra al-Sham, the Brigade’s stronghold in the eastern countryside of Daraa,” the sources added.

It is noteworthy that the officers of the Russian forces recruited hundreds of former members of the opposition factions from Daraa in their 8th Brigade, after the government forces entered the governorate in 2018.

A child was shot on Tuesday evening, by a member of the government forces in the northern countryside of Daraa.

“The child, Yamen Hussam Qanbus, was shot in the chest by a member of the State Security detachment of the government forces, in the city of al-Hara in the northern countryside of Daraa. He was subsequently transported to Damascus hospitals,” a local source told North Press.

“The officers of the government forces present in the detachment justified the shooting, saying that the child was injured by a gunshot wound by mistake,” the source added.

SDF, Global Coalition kill one ISIS member, arrest another in Deir ez-Zor; bodies of 2 kidnapped SDF fighters found

A member of ISIS was killed and four others were arrested on Monday in two separate operations by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) along the Global Coalition forces, in a town, east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

“The Global Coalition aircraft targeted the house of Abed al-Salem al-Abbo, an ISIS member, near the main road in the center of the town of Theban with a helicopter landing operation,” a military source from Theban town, 50 km east of Deir ez-Zor, told North Press.

“Al-Abbo was killed during the landing operation when trying to escape, and another member of ISIS was arrested,” the source said.

The landing coincided with raids by SDF to pursue wanted men on charges of belonging to ISIS in the same town.

“SDF stormed al-Latwa neighborhood near the bank of the Euphrates River in the center of the town, to pursue wanted persons on charges of belonging to ISIS,” the same source told North Press.

“Three wanted persons, including a displaced person from the town of Mahkan, which is under the control of government forces, east of Deir ez-Zor, west of the Euphrates, were arrested in the raids,” the source added.

Recently, the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has been witnessing an increase in cases of killing of members of the SDF, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal dignitaries and civilians, as a result of which SDF and the Global Coalition forces have intensified their security operations in the region.

On Sunday, ISIS announced, through media close to it, capturing and killing three SDF members in the town Susah in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

Residents a town east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria, found, on Tuesday, bodies of two fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) who were kidnapped three days ago.

“Residents of the town found bodies of two SDF fighters near the site of their work lying on a land in the center of Susah town, 120 kilometers east of Deir ez-Zor,” an SDF military source said.

Three SDF fighters were kidnapped while they were on an exploratory walkabout on the river crossings in the town, to find the bodies of two of them later while the third is still missed, the source added.

Yesterday, the Islamic State Organization (ISIS), through close outlets, claimed responsibility for arresting and killing three SDF fighters after subjecting them to investigations and confiscating the weapons they had.

In response, the SDF imposed a curfew in the town after the incident and started patrols to pursue the kidnappers, but they did not managed to hunt them so far.

Recently, Deir ez-Zor countryside has been witnessing a spike in assassinations against SDF members, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) employees, clan dignitaries and civilians despite launching intensive security operations.

Two days ago, the SDF arrested three wanted individuals on charges of links to ISIS in the town of Diban in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

Clashes in Syrian camp housing IS families kill at least 3, one jacket wallah tied up
[An Nahar] Clashes between U.S.-backed Syrian Kurdish fighters and members of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group killed at least three people inside a restive camp in northeastern Syria that houses IS families, local Kurdish authorities and an opposition war monitor said Tuesday. The festivities broke out late Monday night at al-Hol in Syria's province of Hassakeh, when Kurdish fighters exchanged fire with an IS sleeper cell, according to Shixmus Ehmed, head of the Kurdish-led administration's department for refugees and displaced. He spoke to The News Agency that Dare Not be Named via voice messages Tuesday.

The fighting involved pistols, automatic rifles and rocket propelled grenades, he said, adding that the situation remains tense. The sprawling al-Hol camp has for years held tens of thousands of women and kiddies — mostly wives, widows and children of IS members.

The Kurdish police force, known as Asayish, said its members were attacked and fired back, killing an IS member and wounding others. It said police were careful during the festivities because IS fighters had hidden themselves among civilians. The police did not give casualty figures among civilians.

Syrian Kurdish fighters have intensified their inspections at al-Hol in recent weeks, following a late January attack by IS on a prison in the lovely provincial capital of Hassakeh, where some 3,000 murderous Moslems and juveniles are held.

That attack led to 10 days of fighting between the U.S.-backed fighters and IS murderous Moslems that left nearly 500 dead before the situation was brought under control. It was the biggest attack by IS since the fall of the group's so-called Islamic "caliphate" in 2019, and stoked fears it may be staging a comeback.

Following the Sunday night festivities, the Kurdish fighters surrounded the area to prevent any IS button men from escaping, Ehmed said, without giving a breakdown for the casualties.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human rights, an opposition war monitor, said a woman and a child were killed as well as an IS fighter. The Observatory added that four women and six children were maimed.

The Kurdish fighters imposed a curfew inside the camp, the Observatory also said, adding that the fighting was concentrated in areas housing family members of Iraqi and Syrian IS fighters.

Some 50,000 Syrians and Iraqis are located in al-Hol. Nearly 20,000 of them are children while the rest are mostly women.

A nearby separate and heavily guarded section of the camp known as the "annex" is where about 2,000 women from 57 other countries are held, with about 8,000 children. The women in the annex are considered to be the most die-hard IS supporters.

In February, women at al-Hol tried to kidnap their Kurdish guards, leading to a shooting that left one child dead and several people maimed.

IS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi was killed days after the January prison attack. U.S. officials said he went kaboom! along with members of his family as American forces raided his hideout in the northwestern Syrian town of Atmeh, near the border with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

, on Feb. 3.

The Islamic State group has named Abu al-Hassan al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi as its new leader.

The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced, on Tuesday, a member of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) sleeper cell was killed and others were wounded during clashes erupted in Hawl camp.

An Asayish patrol was targeted, yesterday, with medium and light weapons while touring inside the camp, Asayish said in a statement.

The statement indicated that the clashes between the Asayish patrol and ISIS cell killed one ISIS member and wounded others, without specifying the number.

The security forces reinforced their deployment in all sectors of the camp and the surrounding area to prevent the ISIS agents from escaping and to be able of arresting them.

The Hawl Camp witnessed a state of calm following clashes between Asayish and ISIS sleeper cells inside the camp, a security source told North Press, on Tuesday.

Late yesterday, a security source told North Press that the Hawl Camp had witnessed a security alert following a rebellion by ISIS sleeper cells inside the camp.

The fourth and fifth sectors of the camp witnessed a crossfire between the Asayish and ISIS sleeper cells who used small arms in their attack.

A non-governmental organization (NGO) worker told North Press, on Tuesday, that all NGOs suspended their activities within the camp as a result of the security situation in the overcrowded camp.

In early March, a high-ranking security source told North Press that they had received intelligence information that ISIS was preparing to take full control of the Hawl Camp.
Rudaw adds:
The security forces in northeast Syria (Rojava) arrested a suspect allegedly planning a suicide kaboom in the notorious al-Hol camp, a conflict monitor reported on Monday.

The forces arrested "a person attempting to blow themselves up" in the camp, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said. The conflict monitor did not disclose the name, age or gender of the suspect.
