-Lurid Crime Tales-
Kavanaugh Accuser Admits To Lying, Faces Criminal Charges
[ZH & Headline USA] Judy Monro-Leighton, one of three women who accused now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, was found to have lied during a congressional investigation and is now being charged with making materially false statements and obstruction.

According to The Beltway Report, a letter written by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, made a criminal referral against Monro-Leighton, who admitted that she "just wanted to get attention."

She also admitted that an anonymous letter she sent to then-Sen. Kamala Harris describing a graphic sexual assault by Kavanaugh and a friend was not written by her, despite her original claim of being "Jane Doe from Oceanside, California."

"No, no, no. I did that as a way to grab attention," Munro-Leighton explained when questioned by investigators of the Committee on the Judiciary. "I am not Jane Doe... but I did read Jane Doe’s letter. I read the transcript of the call to your committee... I saw it online. It was news."

In her statements, she also clarified that she never met Judge Kavanaugh.

"In short, during the Committee’s time-sensitive investigation of allegations against Judge Kavanaugh, Ms. Munro-Leighton submitted a fabricated allegation, which diverted Committee resources," Grassley’s letter reads. "When questioned by Committee investigators she admitted it was false, a ’ploy’ and a ’tactic.'"

Harris, who was acting as a senator at the time, went on to become the vice president without any discipline for bringing the false letter forward without conducting a proper investigation into the matter.

None of the senators on the committee took the time to investigate the anonymous letter, which Grassley claims was due to their haste to close out the hearings.

Continuously throughout the letter, Grassley attempts to push the blame off of the committee, minimizing their part in the political hit job.

None of the politicians on the committee commented on the charges being brought against Munro-Leighton.

#8  @ #1 and #2, it's worth saying twice. Somebody engineered that whole episode. The smart thing would be to get Ms. Monro-Leighton to rat out the perpetrators. Fat chance that'll ever happen with the likes of Merrick Garland at DoJ.

#9  18 USC 1001 - It's quite clear she made the statements. Who gives a rat's a$$ someone made her do it? So fooking what? She did it "to get attention". If she wants to hope for leniency by ratting out somebody else, fine. She knew it was wrong but did it anyway. Maybe I should post this twice.

I wish/hope she could get whacked in civil court, too. Imagine the hell the Kavanaugh family went though.

#12  Oh, wait, we are in "feewings" land. She is traumatized. A victim of her imagined victimhood and also of other people trying to use her for their own political purposes.

Of course there are people saying she needs to be left alone. Can't have her going all state's evidence on well-meaning democrat operatives now, can we?

#13  Nobody is suggesting that she be treated with kid gloves...especially if she has nothing to offer a prosecutor. But if it can be proven that this woman received money for her testimony from the likes of Kamala Harris or Diane Feinstein, some kind of a deal might be appropriate.

#4  Options Schools serve some of our most vulnerable students who face higher rates of challenges related to special education, housing instability, involvement in the justice system, and victimization. The combination of these challenges lead to higher rates of mobility, transiency, chronic absenteeism, and disengagement from school for extended periods of time.

Somehow in the 19th Century, those little school houses out there had students who could do basic reading, writing, and arithmetic. They also had 'parents' and discipline, they were not hobbled by feral utes. If they weren't in school they were working chores. There were no government checks.

Biden spurns US energy producers, turns to Venezuela for millions of barrels of oil: 'Outright hostility'
[FoxNews] President Biden is showing "outright hostility" to the U.S. oil industry by turning to foreign countries — including adversaries — to supply America's energy needs rather than domestic producers, according to experts and industry insiders.

The U.S. is on track to receive nearly 3 million barrels of crude oil from Venezuela this month, Reuters reported. That's because oil producer Chevron is shipping more than 100,000 barrels per day of Venezuelan crude to the U.S. under a license from the Treasury Department.

Last year, the Biden administration authorized Chevron to expand production in Venezuela and to resume exports of Venezuelan oil. Venezuela, an OPEC member, has been under U.S. sanctions, with its oil frozen for the past several years, due to international outcry over the conduct of Venezuela's socialist government.

James O'Keefe Resigns From Project Veritas
[DAILYWIRE] Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe announced his exit from his investigative group on Monday while hinting at a new journalism venture in the future.

O’Keefe, who founded the nonprofit famous for its sting operations in 2011, spoke to his former team and the Project Veritas Board of Directors in Mamaroneck, New York, according to OANN.

"I was stripped of all decision-making last week," O’Keefe said in a video posted to Vimeo on Monday.

"Currently, I have no job at Project Veritas," he added. "I have no position here based upon what the board has done — so I’m announcing to you all that today, on President’s Day, I’m packing up my personal belongings here."

R.C. Maxwell, a front man for Project Veritas, tweeted that O’Keefe "was removed from his position as CEO by the Project Veritas board."

During his remarks, O’Keefe said he was stripped of his authority as CEO for at least 180 days and removed from the board of directors, citing board meeting notes. O’Keefe also claimed he had issued an ultimatum to the board to resign, which was not heeded.

The Daily Wire reached out to Project Veritas for comment.

In addition, O’Keefe hinted at his future after Project Veritas. "Our mission continues on. I’m not done. The mission will perhaps take on a new name," he said.

#6  James provides a valuable service to us. There doesn’t appear to be any barriers to prevent him from reentering the market as the Truth Endeavor or some other similar name. He would acquire a portion of his donors, sources and loyal staff immediately. Probably, there would be some danger of infiltration. It will be interesting to see whether Project Veritas continues to provide a service or whether they will become like Drudge or just evaporate.

#10

According to various employees, Barry Hinckley (CSO)3
, Matthew Tyrmand (BoD)4

, Tom O’Hara (CFO), and Daniel Strack (Executive Director)5
were the so-called ringleaders of the effort to remove O’Keefe from the company. Allegedly they have claimed O’Keefe misappropriated company funds, incurred outlandish expenses, and violated the company’s various HR policies. The ringleaders organized an ‘intervention’ where the board spent hours confronting O’Keefe bringing in multiple employees to share their grievances with the board. The overarching argument made to the board was that Project Veritas will soon collapse entirely as donors and employees flee if O'Keefe is not removed—of course if James IS removed donors and employees will ALSO flee. By the end of the meeting, the board voted to put O’Keefe on paid administrative leave pending a board meeting on February 10th (tomorrow).6

Public filings only show that Project Veritas only has three directors: John K Garvey, Colin Sharkey, and Matthew Tyrmand7
but presumably O’Keefe and others are ALSO on the board of directors. In fact, according to Mike Swartz's source, the current board consists of Matt Tyrmand, John Garvey, George Skakel, Joseph Barton, Steve Alembik, Tom O’Hara, and Barry Hinckley.

Government Corruption
Tucker gets 41,000 Hours of J6 Footage From Speaker McCarthy (with a small sample)
[Townhall] "I think the American public should actually see all what happened instead of a report that’s written for a political basis," McCarthy said while adding he wanted to "be very thoughtful" about releasing the footage.

Well, now it's happening. And despite initial reports at the time saying that there were 14,000 hours of footage from cameras around the Capitol complex set to be released, it turns out there's more — much more — and Speaker McCarthy is giving it exclusively to Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Axios scooped the news Monday morning, reporting that "Carlson TV producers were on Capitol Hill last week to begin digging through the trove, which includes multiple camera angles from all over Capitol grounds" and an expectation that "[e]xcerpts will begin airing in the coming weeks."

#3  Wire - January 6 Panel Chairman Issues Warning Over Tucker Carlson Getting Tapes

The chairman of the n0w-defunct January 6 Committee warned of the “potential security risks” of U.S. Capitol security footage being released to the media.

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) issued a statement hours after Axios broke the news that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) gave Fox News host Tucker Carlson access to 41,000 hours of Capitol surveillance footage from the Jan. 6, 2021 — the day a crowd of people entered the U.S. Capitol, disrupting lawmakers who were meeting to certify President Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory.

“When the Select Committee obtained access to U.S. Capitol Police video footage, it was treated with great sensitivity given concerns about the security of lawmakers, staff, and the Capitol complex,” Thompson said.

“Access was limited to members and a small handful of investigators and senior staff, and the public use of any footage was coordinated in advance with Capitol Police. It’s hard to overstate the potential security risks if this material were to be used irresponsibly,” he added.
