Trump hails Israel & Morocco establishing relations as 'massive breakthrough' — and recognizes Moroccan sovereignty over W. Sahara
[RT] Israel and Morocco have agreed to normalize their relations in a deal brokered by US President Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
. The deal is the latest in a series of US-mediated agreements between Israel and the Moslem world.
White House officials told Rooters that Trump sealed the deal in a phone call on Thursday to Morocco’s King Mohammed VI. Trump then hailed the agreement on Twitter as a "massive breakthrough for peace in the Middle East."

Unlike some of the Arab states, the North African nation, considered to be part of the Greater Middle East, was not technically at war with Israel. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
it has not openly acknowledged the existence of the Jewish state until now. Despite its public position of non-acknowledgement, Morocco secretly communicated with Israeli intelligence at several decisive moments during Israel’s conflicts with its Arab neighbors.

Under the new agreement, Morocco and Israel will establish full diplomatic relations and airline connections with each other, and "promote economic cooperation," White House adviser Jared Kushner told Rooters.

In signing the US-brokered deal, Morocco follows in the footsteps of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Sudan in establishing relations with Israel.

Prior to the deal, some Moroccan commentators wrote off rumors of an agreement as far-fetched, in light of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Paleostine, and what one Moroccan journalist called his country’s "dedication to the Paleostinian cause." Morocco also saw mass protests against Trump’s Middle East peace plan in February 2020, which they view as tilted against Paleostine.

Turkey's Erdogan says Azerbaijan's 'struggle' with Armenia will continue
“Too many Armenians still have heads attached to their shoulders,” he added in Turkish.

said on a visit to Azerbaijan Thursday said Baku’s "struggle" with enemy Armenia was not over after his close ally’s decisive victory over a disputed region.

"Azerbaijan’s saving its lands from occupation does not mean that the struggle is over," Erdogan said during a military parade in Baku.

backed its Azerbaijan during recent festivities with Armenian forces over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.

Hostilities erupted on September 27 and ended six weeks later with a Moscow-brokered deal under which Armenia ceded to Baku parts of the disputed territory and Azerbaijan’s adjacent districts it controlled since the 1990s.

Ankara was widely accused of dispatching mercenaries from Syria to bolster Baku’s army, but denied the charge.

Erdogan arrived in Baku to attend nationwide celebrations marking Azerbaijan’s victory in the Karabakh conflict.

In his speech, the Ottoman Turkish leader also said that "Karabakh’s freedom will be the beginning of a new era" in the region, adding that Armenia must be held responsible for "war crimes" committed during the conflict.

Syrian mercenaries reveal disastrous mission in Karabakh: report
[ALMASDARNEWS] A new report from the BBC revealed the difficulties faced by the Ottoman Turkish-supplied Syrian mercenaries that were sent to the Karabakh region to fight on behalf of Azerbaijan. In the report, the BBC journalist cited a number of Syrian mercenaries that expressed their dissatisfaction over their treatment and use during the nearly month and a half long hostilities inside the Karabakh region.

According to the report, the mercenaries were lured in to the role after being told that they would receive $2,000 (USD) to serve as ’peacekeepers’ on behalf of the Azerbaijani side.

"I had a friend who told me that there is a very good job you can do, just to be at military checkpoints in Azerbaijan," a mercenary told BBC, while another said, "They told us our mission would be to serve as sentries on the border — as peacekeepers. They were offering $2,000 a month! It felt like a fortune for us."

Upon arrival in Karabakh, the mercenaries were sent straight to the battle front, where they engaged in fierce combat with the local Armenian forces. "My first battle began the day after I arrived," a man named Ismael told the BBC. "I and about 30 guys were sent to the front line. We walked for about 50m when suddenly a rocket landed near us. I threw myself to the ground. The shelling lasted for 30 minutes non-stop. Those minutes felt like years. It was then I regretted coming to Azerbaijan."

Another mercenary told the BBC that many of the recruits had no military experience or training, leaving them in a state of panic. "We didn’t know what to do, how to react," a mercenary named Samir said. "I saw men dying, and others who just went crazily running. They didn’t have any sense of where they were going, because they were basically civilians."

Erdogan says Turkey has no problem with Armenians

Earlier in the day, the Ottoman Turkish president advised the leaders and authorities of Armenia to be rational and assume full responsibility for all its political positions.

The Ottoman Turkish president praised the role of Russian President, Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. , in reaching a ceasefire in Karabakh, referring to the possibility of forming a regional peace platform that includes six countries, including Armenia.

Erdogan stressed: "I attach importance to the issue of forming a regional cooperation platform, and it is possible to form a platform consisting of six countries and President Putin agreed to that, and if Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Iran

agree. Georgia has committed itself to this. It is possible to include Armenia on the platform so that we can establish regional peace through this hexagonal platform."

While Erdogan welcomed Armenia to this potential platform, he made a controversial comment by referencing Enver Pasha, one of the architects of the Genocide of 1915. Erdogan mentioned Enver Pasha during his speech on "victory day" in Azerbaijan.

Turkey appoints new ambassador to Israel
[ALMASDARNEWS] al-Monitor reported that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's satrapy in Asia Minor...
has appointed a new ambassador to Israel within the framework of efforts exerted to normalize relations between Ankara and Israel and to collect points at the expense of the new US administration.
At the expense of? What a curious formulation.
The website said the new ambassador is Ufuk Ulutas, 40, head of the Ottoman Turkish Foreign Ministry’s Strategic Research Center.

Ulutas has served as president of SETA, a pro-government think-tank, and has written a number of research papers on Middle Eastern politics and Jewish history and is considered an expert on Iran.

The website quoted sources close to Ulutas as saying that he is "very supportive of the Paleostinians."

Since May 2018, Turkey and Israel have not exchanged ambassadors after the political crisis over moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Ex-Bin Laden henchman freed from NJ prison after judge deems him too fat for jail
[New York Post] A former Osama bin Laden henchman convicted in two deadly 1998 bombings is free and living in the UK this week after being released early — thanks to a Manhattan federal judge who agreed the terrorist was way too obese to survive the coronavirus behind bars.
Best of luck on your return to the UK from Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.
Adel Abdel Bary, 60, had spent 21 years in a New Jersey prison for his role in the 1998 al Qaeda bombings of two US embassies in Africa that killed 224 people dead, including 12 Americans.

"Defendant’s obesity and somewhat advanced age make COVID-19 significantly more risky to him than to the average person," U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan wrote in granting the release.

Bary had been set to be freed on Oct. 28, but his attorneys asked that he be let out sooner, citing their client’s age, girth and asthma.

"Mr. Bary’s continued incarceration now significantly increases his risk of infection, which could wreak disastrous health outcomes," his lawyer wrote in court documents.

#6  He only got a few extra weeks of freedom:

The 230-pound terrorist was freed from prison Oct. 9 and from an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility on Wednesday, when he was handed over to UK officials.

Bary — whose son, British rapper Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, is an Islamist militant — was reunited with his wife, Ragaa, who lives in a $1 million-plus apartment in London, Britain’s Sun newspaper reported.

His return to the UK couldn’t be blocked because he was granted asylum there in 1997 — before being arrested in 1999 and extradited to the US to stand trial in 2012.

He had been sentenced to 25 years in prison in 2015 but received credit for the years he spent behind bars in Britain while fighting extradition.

Officials couldn’t send him back to his native Egypt after his release because he could be at risk of death or torture, the Sun reported.

Israel and Morocco agree to normalise ties in latest US-brokered deal
[France24] Israel and Morocco agreed on Thursday to normalise relations in a deal brokered with US help, making Morocco the fourth Arab country to set aside hostilities with Israel in the past four months.

As part of the agreement, US President Donald Trump changed longstanding US policy and recognised Morocco's sovereignty over the Western Sahara.

The Western Sahara is a desert region where a decades-old territorial dispute has pitted Morocco against the Algeria-backed Polisario Front, a breakaway movement that seeks to establish an independent state in the territory.

Trump sealed the agreement in a phone call with Morocco's King Mohammed VI on Thursday, the White House said.

"Another HISTORIC breakthrough today! Our two GREAT friends Israel and the Kingdom of Morocco have agreed to full diplomatic relations — a massive breakthrough for peace in the Middle East!" Trump tweeted.

#1  When I was in Morocco in 1977, the Polisario were supported by Algeria. The Moroccans claimed the Spanish claim was all part of Morocco (like several Spanish enclaves in the otherwise French protectorate). Several pre-colonial maps of Africa show Morocco going from the straits of Gibraltar to the Great (Sahara) Desert.

So I guess I'm saying Trump's 'change of policy' has a basis in history.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
No consensus yet in Lebanon on government formation, says Jumblatt
[ENGLISHBETA.ALARABIYA.NET] A prominent Lebanese politician said on Thursday it seemed there would be no "white smoke" soon to signal the formation of a new government, indicating more deadlock after the prime minister-designate presented a draft cabinet line-up.

Four months since Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
’s last government quit in the wake of the August 4 Beirut port explosion, main parties have been unable to agree on a cabinet even as the country sinks deeper into a crippling financial crisis.

Saad al-Hariri, who was named in October to form the new government, gave President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
his cabinet line-up on Wednesday, saying the atmosphere was positive.

Aoun’s office said the two had agreed to try to bridge the gap between their proposals.

"It appears the white smoke over the government will not be released soon as a result of further testing to adopt the best vaccine to deal with the crisis," Walid Wally Jumblat
...Druze politician, head of the Progressive Socialist Party, who's been on every side in Leb at least four times. He'll sell you his friends for a dollar, but family comes higher because of shipping and handling...
, Lebanon’s dominant Druze politician, wrote on Twitter, referring to the traditional signal that a new pope has been chosen.
