Elon Musk Is NOT Joining the Twitter Board After All, and That's Good News
[PJMedia] In a surprise reversal, Twitter top dog Parag Agrawal tweeted Sunday night that gazillionaire and free speech advocate Elon Musk would not be joining Twitter’s board of directors after all. While at first glance this appears to signal that Musk will not be able to turn the social media giant away from its determination to silence voices that dissent from the far-Left’s agenda, it could turn out to be very good news for those who are concerned about the social media behemoths’ outsize influence over the public discourse in America today.

Agrawal announced: "Elon has decided not to join our board. I sent a brief note to the company, sharing with you all here." In the appended note, Agrawal wrote: "Here’s what I can share about what happened," suggesting immediately that what happened was far more fiery and dramatic than what he was letting on. "The Board and I had many discussions about Elon joining the board, and with Elon directly," Agrawal continued. "We were excited to collaborate and clear about the risks. We also believed that having Elon as a fiduciary of the company where he, like all board members, has to act in the best interests of the company and all our shareholders, was the best path forward. The board offered him a seat." Clearly Agrawal and the other Twitter bosses thought that a seat on the board would constrain Musk: he would have to "act in the best interests of the company." The Lilliputians would have had Gulliver effectively tied down. But no such luck.

#2  "Twitter top dog Parag Agrawal" , all you need to know about what needs to change. Just read his latest comments on the first amendment to see what a subversive agent of a foreign power thinks.

#3  "Elon has decided not to join our board."

Implying it was his decision alone. Who wants to bet the real explanation is 'the other board members threatened to quit en masse' or some such?
Posted by: Raj || 04/11/2022 13:40 Comments || Top||

#4  By not joining the board, Musk is not limited to owning a maximum 14.5% stake.
Posted by: M. Murcek || 04/11/2022 13:48 Comments || Top||

#5  Raj, IIRC if he were a board member, he would be limited to some small percentage of stock - somewhere around 14-15% IIRC.
So maybe his secret goal is to slowly work up to 50.1% of stock. Then he can really clean house.

#6  Thank you both - I didn't know Musk had mad fakeout skillz like this!

#7  IIUC he also can't be slammed by the SEC for speaking out against Twitter if he's only a shareholder and not on the board (like they are on him about his comments re: Tesla)

#8  Why would he exceed the 10% threshold? That would be stupid and end up putting him in prison, given his own chant for saying stupid shit about his stock trades on, uh, Twitter.

10% makes you a Qualified Investor. Much more stringent 13G disclosure rules than if you stay under 10%: once a year (by Valentine' Day, heh) instead of every month:

"Currently, Qualified Institutional Investors who beneficially own up to 10% of the relevant class are only required to file a Schedule 13G by February 14 of the year that follows the triggering event. If, as of the end of any month, a Qualified Institutional Investor’s beneficial ownership exceeds 10%, it is required to file within 10 calendar days of the end of such month.

#9  If Musk is on Twitter's board, he has a fiduciary duty to the company, which can make things like disparaging remarks problematic. If he's not, then his duty is to his own investors, which might be just himself if he's using his own capital.

#14  Twitter used to be a good thing in this world.
Tweetdeck was the only reason I chose twitter. All other platforms with no columns like this are crap. Faceburg is by far the shittiest platform known to man yet everyone copies them.

If I cannot stream information without a mouse, your platform sucks ass.I want everything a vertical stock ticker so to speak. Otherwise, it is a waste of your time.

The left destroys everything.

In either case with Musk, I appreciate him and I AM Entertained!

I recently talked to a fellow who turned out to be an army recruiter and asked him about transgenders who tried to join. Of course, they could join and then transition, I suppose.

NYC tourists sent scrambling in Times Square after 'huge explosion' caused by manhole fires
[FoxNews] A loud bang caused by multiple manhole fires near Times Square on Sunday evening sent people scrambling in midtown Manhattan.

Three manholes caught fire around 6:45 p.m. on W 43rd St between 7th and 8th avenues, an area of the city that is packed with tourists at most hours, according to the FDNY.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident, according to preliminary reports from the NYPD and FDNY.

Firefighters discovered elevated carbon monoxide levels near where the explosions happened and are in the process of venting the area, an FDNY spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

Manhole fires more than doubled in New York City from fiscal year 2020 to 2021, jumping to 6,104 last year, according to the Mayor's Management report released last year.

Manhole fires often occur when gas builds up underground and is ignited by an electrical short circuit, sending an explosion through the path of least resistance, which is usually a manhole, according to Fire Engingeering magazine.

Report: ‘Slave Labor'-Fueled Chinese Fleet Destroying Fishing Industry in West Africa
[Breitbart]The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF), a London-based non-governmental organization, this week published a report on the destructive, largely unregulated, and often illegal operations of China’s immense deep-water fishing fleet.

An especially disturbing chapter of the report dealt with the harmful impact of Chinese fishing on West African nations, where entire coastal communities tremble on the verge of economic collapse thanks to China’s rapacious practices.

The report, titled The Ever-Widening Net: Mapping the Scale, Nature, and Corporate Structures of Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing by the Chinese Distant-Water Fleet, accused China of creating a huge fleet to fish outside China’s own depleted waters.

Desperate Ukraine tells U.S. ‘bureaucracy' is no excuse for failing to provide critical weapons and ammunition
[CNBC] WASHINGTON — A Ukrainian delegation warned U.S. officials in Washington this week that security assistance packages are not arriving quick enough in the besieged country, a plea that comes amid Western security claims that the Kremlin will soon intensify its military campaign.

Over the past week, the delegation of Ukrainian civil society advocates, military veterans and former government officials met with 45 lawmakers, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, officials at the departments of State and Defense and the National Security Council at the White House.

"It’s the 44th day of the war that we were supposed to lose on the third day," began Daria Kaleniuk, who runs Ukraine’s Anti-Corruption Action Center, a national organization that assists Ukraine’s parliament and prosecutor’s office.

"What we need now is to arm our military and our territorial defense units to be able to prevent more graves in the backyards of innocent people," she said on Friday.

Kaleniuk added that U.S. lawmakers and Biden administration officials outlined a number of justifications for why certain weapons systems cannot be delivered, citing logistics issues, lack of inventory and bureaucratic limitations.

"The six-year-old boy who is visiting his mother’s grave in his backyard does not want to hear about bureaucracy as an excuse for not delivering weapons to Ukraine," Kaleniuk said.

"This is an extraordinary situation where extraordinary measures have to be done. Lift your bureaucracy, lift it now. The president of the United States has huge power, Congress has huge power. We know it’s possible," she added.

Earlier in the week, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba also made a plea to NATO allies to catalyze the delivery of their arms commitments.

"Either you help us now, and I’m speaking about days not weeks, or your help will come too late," Kuleba told reporters at NATO’s headquarters on April 7.

"I have no doubt that Ukraine will have the weapons necessary to fight. The question is the timeline. This discussion is not about the list of weapons. The discussion is about the timeline when do we get them and this is crucial," he said, adding "people are dying today, the offensive is unfolding today."

When asked about Kuleba’s comments, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken downplayed concerns that allies were withholding weapons explicitly requested by Ukraine.

"They’re coming forward with new systems that they think would be helpful and effective," Blinken said from NATO’s headquarters.

"We put our own expertise to bear, especially the Pentagon to help determine what indeed we think could be effective. What Ukrainians will be ready to use as soon as they get it, and what we actually have access to and can get to them in real-time," he said, adding that the U.S. is working expeditiously to get appropriate weapons to Ukraine.

Blinken’s comments echo those of U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff U.S. Army Gen. Mark Milley. Austin and Milley told lawmakers last week that some weapons systems on Ukraine’s wish list require months of training in order to operate.

This was another piece linked to at FR by Zhang Fei, who wrote the following in the comments:
Ukraine ping

During the Yom Kippur War, Nixon ordered direct airlifts of late model weaponry from US stocks in Europe to Israel, and raised the readiness level of US nuclear forces to DEFCON 3, in response to the possibility of Russian intervention:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yom_Kippur_War.

Whereas currently, Moscow Joe is slow-walking the aid. Ukrainians are fighting a high-intensity war with a major power, and Moscow Joe is allocating aid to be provided at leisure. Meanwhile, we funded the Afghans lavishly to fight a two-bit enemy (the Taliban) engaged in desultory guerilla warfare that killed maybe a thousand combatants on both sides a month. The Ukrainians have killed over 15,000 Russians in a month. That takes a lot of ammo and equipment which gets used up or destroyed by the enemy. Modern warfare isn’t like its ancient counterpart - the weapons aren’t swords and spears that merely have to be cleaned off and sharpened to get more use out of them.

Moscow Joe was paid by Putin through Burisma, which is owned by one of Putin’s cronies, Zlochevsky, who left Ukraine along with Putin’s puppet, Yanukovich, after the Maidan Revolution.

I gotta hand it to Putin - he might not be the greatest war planner, but he made sure Trump was up to his eyeballs in alligators for the entire length of his tenure. Igor Danchenko, the guy who was arrested over his role in fabricating the Steele dossier, is Russian. He appears to be a Russian agent planted by Putin inside the Democratic party.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igor_Danchenko

One of the ways you discredit your enemy is by planting evidence that suggests he is your paid agent. That was Danchenko’s assignment within the Democratic party - to help stick it to Trump.

#15  Which English? I was reared bilingual English and American, where both dialects of the language were my parents’ — and many of their friends’ — Nth language. Mama learnt English at Oxford University’s private high school after the war in Holland, then emigrated to New York City for university. That was after her native German, Dutch, and French. Her favourite cousin was proud to speak English with an Oxford accent, her French from the Sorbonne, and naturally the family spoke Hochdeutsch with a Hildesheim accent, the purest of the pure, while Mama’s English is deliberately Standard American and her French picked up in Geneva while she was at medical school escaping the matchmaking efforts of her mother and her first mother-in-law, both very managing women. Mama found the Flemish I learnt in Brussels highly amusing, but the Dutch look down on the Flems as ignorant hillbillies.

Daddy polished his English while serving as a Russian translator for the Hindi regiment stationed in Iran during the war, which was layered on top of his four mother tongues of Russian, Latvian, German, and Yiddish — typical of his peers in his birthplace — classical Latin and Greek, Hebrew, and enough Arabic and Farsi to get by on the street. He was nearly forty before he arrived in America, and his attempts at strong language sounded like he was working from memorized conjugation tables.

And after living in a variety of places, my second person plural is as likely to be you guys, y’all, or you lot, depending on the last person I spoke with or the last thing I read. And as a sheltered child of an ivory tower, I rely on Mr. Wife and the good people here to translate all sorts of American vocabulary I hadn’t previously encountered.

In German, the prepositions that end sentences are really separable verbs. As it happens, very often it’s the same in English, which Indiv.#1 is ignorant of — an inheritance from English being at root a Germanic language.

Day 46 Preparation for Battle of Donbas

Ukraine has sent reinforcements to the Donbas Front.

Ukraine has not yet sent ground troops into Russia but has control of a long stretch of the border and could do so at any time.

Russia has made some advance near Ukrainian held Avdievka perhaps planning an invasion toward the major city of Dnipro or else faking such an action.

Russia took another few city blocks of Mariupol.
Neither side initiated any sustained ground action in the south.

MIG-31 crashed near Finland by St. Petersburg.
[YouTube - Defense Updates] It is unmistakable that Russia has lost a considerable number of fighter jets as well as attack helicopters in the Ukrainian conflict.

The losses are far more than anticipated.

Very few could have predicted this kind of damage will be sustained by the Russian Air Force.

Interestingly, Russia is also taking crucial losses even without enemy action.

A MiG-31 Foxhound fighter jet being flown in routine training exercises crashed near the Finnish border, in the Leningrad region of northwestern Russia on Friday.

Fortunately, the pilots were safely ejected and no injuries were reported.

Given the R.O.I. advancements in Warfare technology.

The cost of one laser-guided missile for the Stugna-P is estimated at approximately $20,000.

Wiping out armor vehicles costing 100x to 300x more in cost.

In short, the TANK is no longer the Anti-Infantry weapon it once was.

#2  The tank is going back to its WWII role currently as infantry support. In Iraq and Afghanistan, the US used them in this role until the strikers came online. People are already braying the tank is obsolete but the Russian's do not have any good anti-missile systems. Once we see the west's in action, especially the newer laser ones the US is developing, then we can look at that argument again.

I am still wondering if they will hold up against a multi missile attack. Javelin with launcher costs around $120k and each missile costs 80k. Compared to a $5million dollar tank, firing 8 missiles at it to kill it is still a worthwhile expenditure of ammo.

Russia completely destroys an airport in Eastern Ukraine

[SHAFAQ] Russian forces fired rockets into Luhansk and Dnipro regions on Sunday, Ukrainian officials said, completely destroying an airport and wounding at least five people.Valentyn Reznichenko, governor of the central Dnipropetrovsk region, said emergency workers were combing through an infrastructure facility that was hit in the town of Zvonetsky, adding that details on casualties would be given later.

"Overnight high-precision missiles destroyed the base and headquarters of the nationalist Dnepr battalion in Zvonetsky, which also recently received reinforcements from foreign mercenaries," Russia's Defence Ministry said.

Reznichenko said on Telegram that there had also been an attack on the airport in Dnipro city.

"The airport itself was destroyed, as well as nearby infrastructure. And the rockets fly and fly," Reznichenko said.

Reznichenko said earlier that an attack on Dnipro had maimed one person and the rockets had sparked a fire that was eventually put out. A missile had also hit a building in the Pavlograd district, he added.

Separately, the head of the Dnipro region council, Mykola Lukashuk, says five staffers of the state emergency service had been maimed by the strike on the airport.

Serhiy Gaidai, governor of Luhansk, an eastern region bordering Russia, wrote earlier on Telegram that a school and a high-rise apartment building had been hit in the city of Sievierodonetsk.

#1  I used to wonder how people could have been so fooled throughout different wars in history. Now I get it. It's pure propaganda 24 hours a day from every direction. The truth can not be found. All by design. What a mess. It's pretty clear who the bad guys are here, but if you don't get on your knees and plead your ever loving allegiance to Ukraine you'll get shouted down in the west. Madness.

On Saturday an exchange of truck drivers between Russia and Ukraine was also conducted, Moskalkova said, with 32 Russian truck drivers, 20 Ukrainians and a number of Belarus nationals exchanged.

Ukraine Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk had said on Saturday that 12 of its soldiers were being returned after a prisoner exchange with Russia, the third such swap since the start of the conflict.

"Fortunately, no casualties," Gaidai said.

Putin appoints new commander to oversee war on Ukraine

[SHAFAQ] A senior U.S. official has said Russia has appointed a new commander to oversee its war on Ukraine.

The official speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
said Russia has turned to one of its most experienced military officers, Gen. Alexander Dvornikov. U.S. officials say the 60-year-old general "has a record of brutality against civilians in Syria and other theatres of war."

The White House national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, told CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
on Sunday that "this general will just be another author of crimes and brutality against Ukrainian civilians." And he said "no appointment of any general can erase the fact that Russia has already faced a strategic failure in Ukraine."

The new battlefield leadership comes as Russia gears up for what is expected to be a large and more focused push to expand Russian control in the Donbas after failing to conquer the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. Sullivan reiterated support for the Ukrainian government, saying the United States is determined to do all it can to help Ukrainians resist this general and the forces he commands.

Austria's Chancellor Karl Nehammer will meet Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
in Moscow on Monday in an attempt to build dialogue with the Russian President as the war in Ukraine continues.

Nehammer announced the visit to journalists, and on Twitter, after returning from a trip to Kyiv, where he met with Ukrainian leaders and also visited the town of Bucha, site of alleged Russian military atrocities, on Saturday.

Plans for the Putin meeting were coordinated with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, among others, as well as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The meeting is an unusual step for Nehammer, chancellor since December and a novice in diplomatic circles who'll look to build on militarily-neutral Austria's perceived role as a bridge between Europe's east and west.

Earlier talks between Putin and other European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, have failed to yield any meaningful concessions from the Russian President.

  • Elsewhere, a convoy of Russian armour and artillery was spotted in east Ukraine

  • Analysts believe it is moving to the frontlines in Luhansk and Donetsk

  • It comes as the airport in the central Ukrainian city of Dnipro was destroyed

  • Russian shelling obliterated the airport and surrounding infrastructure

American Airlines To Offer Bus Service In Place Of Connecting Flights Due To Soaring Gas Prices, Pilot Shortage
[ZeroHedge] As gas prices continue to rise into the peak driving (and flying season), expect to see more bizarre twists in conventional behavior... like airlines offering bus service in place of connecting flights.

Take American Airlines, which according to the Associated Press is "expanding" its network into and out of Philadelphia with a new bus service that will connect the carrier's hub with two other airports in the region. Starting in June, the company will begin offering buses as connecting flights to and from Philadelphia International Airport with both Lehigh Valley International Airport and Atlantic City International Airport.

Passengers traveling to or from Philly, Allentown or Atlantic City will be able to book connecting itineraries through American, according to The Points Guy: travelers whose trips begin in Allentown or Atlantic City will check their bags and go through security as if they were taking a normal flight. However, passengers will board a bus rather than a flight to Philly, where they will be dropped off at their terminals without having to go through security again. Bags will be automatically transferred to their connecting flights. Similarly, travelers landing in Philly will head to a dedicated gate from where the bus will pick up. Bags will be automatically transferred to the bus.

The buses will consist of 35 leather seats, complimentary Wi-Fi, streaming options and power outlets.

American's connecting bus service will operate three round-trips per day between Atlantic City and Philly and two daily runs to and from Allentown. Tickets will go on sale Monday, with trips scheduled to begin June 3.

According to Philly Voice, American said that the forthcoming bus service will be an "easier way" for passengers to travel between the airports, which of course is laughable propaganda. In reality, the airline's "expansion" into busing is driven by pilot shortages and higher gas prices, Airline Weekly reported, forcing carriers like American to explore more cost-effective travel options for passengers.

Staffing shortages have already forced American to suspend dozens of routes flown by regional affiliates across its network this spring and summer. American's regional affiliate, American Eagle, services flights from Allentown to Chicago and Charlotte.

The airline previously operated flights between Philly and Allentown until the route was suspended in May 2020. The two airports are separated by only 73 miles.

Atlantic City International Airport is a new addition to American's map. Before merging with American in 2015, U.S. Airways served Atlantic City nonstop from Philly on and off again until 2003. The two airports are separated by only 56 miles.

Family down in Miami returning from a cruise yesterday found that their flight was "cancel" and all 150+ passengers flying to Atlanta were screwed.

They were bused to and put up overnight in a cheap hotel. They have a Flight out this 10am.

BUT! They now have to fly to BWI, wait for a connecting flight to Atlanta, wait there to catch another flight to their Ga. Region Airport. Then get their car to drive another 40+ miles home.

When it is all said and done, they will have flown more miles, than their 5-day cruise took them.

Vietnam's VinFast seeks US government loans for expansion

[FoxBusiness] The chairman of Vietnam’s Vingroup conglomerate said on Saturday that the company’s auto unit, VinFast, would seek financing from the U.S. government to support its expansion with a planned plant in North Carolina.

"It is also one of our financing options, but we need to prove to them that we are qualified," Vingroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong told a group including news hounds.

VinFast said this week that its Singapore-based holding company had filed for an initial public offering (IPO) with U.S. securities regulators, as the company readies a $4-billion investment to build a factory in the United States.

VinFast, which began operations in 2019, is betting big on the U.S. market, where it hopes to compete with legacy automakers and startups with two all-electric SUVs and a battery leasing model that will reduce the purchase price.

Vuong said VinFast was committed to an IPO that would help establish the electric vehicle maker as a global brand, but added: "if the conditions are not right we can wait."

"We ourselves are determined to push and committed to this IPO, but the highest target for the IPO is not financing but to set up VinFast in the global market," he told the group

Macron and Le Pen head for French election runoff, projections show
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

La Belle France's incumbent leader Emmanuel Macron and far-right challenger Marine Le Pen are heading for an April 24 presidential election runoff, projections showed after first round voting on Sunday.

Macron garnered 28.1-29.5% of votes in the first round while Le Pen won 23.3-24.4%, according to separate estimates by pollsters Ifop, OpinionWay, Elabe and Ipsos. Those estimates, published as voting ended, are usually very reliable in La Belle France.

If confirmed, that outcome would set up a duel between an economic liberal with a globalist outlook in Macron and a deeply eurosceptic economic nationalist who, until the Ukraine war, was an open admirer of Russian President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia.
Who next holds the Elysee Palace will depend on how those who backed Macron and Le Pen's rivals cast their ballots.

Conservative candidate Valerie Pecresse, the Socialists' Anne Hidalgo, the Greens' Yannick Jadot and the Communists' Fabien Roussel said they would back Macron to block the far-right.

"So that La Belle France does not fall into hatred of all against all, I solemnly call on you to vote on April 24 against the far-right of Marine Le Pen," said Hidalgo.

Pecresse warned of "disastrous consequences" if Macron did not win the runoff.

But another far-right candidate Eric Zemmour will call on supporters to back Le Pen, Marion Marechal - who is an ally of Zemmour and Le Pen's niece - told BFM TV.

To cheers of supporters chanting "We will win! We will win!," Le Pen said she wanted to unite all French. The runoff "will be a choice of civilisation," she said, adding that her platform would protect the weak and make La Belle France independent.

Not for two decades has a French president won a second term.

Barely a month ago, Macron was on course to comfortably reverse that, riding high in polls thanks to strong economic growth, a fragmented opposition and his statesman role in trying to avert war on Europe's eastern flank.

But he paid a price for late entry into the campaign during which he eschewed market walkabouts in provincial La Belle France in favour of a single big rally outside Gay Paree. A plan to make people work longer also proved unpopular, enabling Le Pen to narrow the gap in opinion polls.

She, by contrast, for months toured towns and villages across La Belle France, focusing on cost-of-living issues that trouble millions and tapping into anger towards the political elite.

"Marine Le Pen knew how to talk to people about their more concrete problems. During the next two weeks he (Macron) will have to pay more attention to what is happening in La Belle France, take a diplomatic break," said Adrien Thierry, a 23-year old supporter.

After a more than 10 point lead Macron had enjoyed as late as mid-March, voter surveys ahead of the first round showed his margin of victory in an eventual runoff whittled down to within the margin of error.

"I'm scared of the political extremes," said pensioner Therese Eychenne, 89, after voting for Macron in Gay Paree. "I don't know what would become of La Belle France."

The hard left's Jean-Luc Melenchon polled third on Sunday, with an estimated 20%, the projections showed.

A Le Pen victory on April 24 would constitute a similar jolt to the establishment as Britannia's Brexit vote to leave the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
(EU) or Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
's 2017 entry into the White House.

La Belle France, the EU's second largest economy, would lurch from being a driving force for European integration to being led by a euro-sceptic who is also suspicious of the NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
military alliance.

While Le Pen has ditched past ambitions for a "Frexit" or to haul La Belle France out of the euro zone's single currency, she envisages the EU as a mere alliance of sovereign states.

In past French elections in 2002 and 2017, voters on the left and right have united to block the far-right from power.

However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
surveys suggest that the so-called "republicain front" has crumbled, with many left-wing voters saying they are loathe to endorse a leader they deride as arrogant and a "president of the rich."

"We want change, so why not give her a chance (in round two)?" technician Alex Talcone said in the Gay Paree suburb of Bobigny after voting for hard-left candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon.

Iraq
Alarming drop in Iraqi water levels due to Iranian dams
[Rudaw] Water levels in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region have decreased significantly as Iran
...They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
has cut down large portions of water flowing into the country from the east.

The Alwan dam in Diyala province’s Khanaqin holds 38 million cubic meters of water, but Iran has for the past ten days reduced the flow of water into the dam.

"Iran took over the water of Alwan. They use it for their own purposes and you can see that the amount of water is decreasing day by day," Ahmad Wasin, director of the Alwan dam, told Rudaw’s Hunar Hamid on Saturday.

The decrease in the dam’s water levels has led authorities to reduce the usage of the dam’s water.

"We have started to use less water now. The purpose is to use it for Khanaqin’s agriculture later in the summer. Also, to use the water for the projects in Khanaqin and for the citizens," Wasin added.

Iran’s building of several dams and restricting the flow of water into the west has also affected the Kurdistan Region, forcing officials in charge of water resources to reduce the daily use of water held in the reservoirs.

The Darbandikhan dam in Sulaimani province is the main source of water for agriculture and drinking in the area.

It is also an important source of electricity generation in the Kurdistan Region.

The dam has the capacity to hold up to three billion cubic meters of water. However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
it now contains just under 1.3 billion cubic meters of water.

Saman Ismail, the manager of Darbandikhan dam, claims that "Darbandikhan's main source of water, Sirwan river, comes from Iran" and that water levels have decreased to a point that the flow of water from neighboring Iran has fallen to almost zero.

Authorities have on several occasions warned that dams that had been built by Iran and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
, contributed to a growing water crisis in the southern and central provinces of Iraq and the northern Kurdistan Region.

Around 600 dams have been built over the last 30 years by Iran, cutting or diverting river courses from its territory into Iraq.

Since Iran began building dams and watersheds, Iraq's ministry of water resources has been in talks with its neighbor to prevent them from cutting Iraq’s main sources of water, but the talks have not been fruitful.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Deputy police minister: Killings in Arab towns dropping, weapon confiscations rising
Domesticating the Arab culture.
[IsraelTimes] Officials are working to combat black market and loans sharks in the community, Finance Ministry director adds.

Deputy Public Security Minister Yoav Segalovitz said on Sunday that shootings within the Arab community have gone down, as the government and security forces work to round up and confiscate illegal weapons.

According to Segalovitz, the past five months have seen 42 murders in Arab society, compared to 56 in the same period the previous year.

Addressing the Knesset Public Security Committee, Segalovitz said that as part of efforts to curb violence in the Arab community, police and other authorities have compiled a list of 631 suspects in criminal activity, of whom 166 have been arrested and 144 indicted.

He also said that there has been a rise in confiscation of illegal weaponry within the community.

"Criminals need to understand that the rules of the game have changed," he said. "This is a top-priority social mission. The discussions are over — we are moving on to action."

Arab communities in Israel have seen a surge in violence in recent years, driven mainly, but not exclusively, by organized crime. Arab Israelis blame police, who they say have failed to crack down on powerful criminal organizations and largely ignore the violence, which includes family feuds, mafia pie fights and violence against women.

The Arab community has also suffered from decades of neglect.

The Abraham Initiatives, which monitors and campaigns against violence in the Arab community, said that 2021 saw 125 Arabs killed as a result of violence and crime— an all-time record.

Earlier this year, Public Security Minister Omer Barlev said that "criminal families in the Arab sector" were "holding the community by the throat."

Last year, the cabinet passed a plan to allocate NIS 2.5 billion ($750 million) over the next five years to fight the rampant crime in Arab communities.

Finance Ministry Director-General Ram Belinkov said at the same meeting that treasury officials have doubled their efforts to combat the black market within the Arab community, focusing on decreasing the use of paper money and boosting the taking of loans and mortgages.

Belinkov said that officials have confiscated millions of shekels in paper currency from locations used by organized crime.

"Because of lackluster administration and bureaucracy [in the Arab community], many people turn to loan sharks who are connected to organized crime," he said.

It's not just you: ‘senior moments' became more widespread during the pandemic, experts say
[FoxNews] If you aren’t a senior, but still experiencing ‘senior moments,’ you are in good company, according to recent Wall Street Journal report.

"Our brains are like computers with so many tabs open right now," said Dr. Sara C. Mednick, a neuroscientist and professor of cognitive science at the University of California, Irvine.

"This slows down our processing power, and memory is one of the areas that falters."

‘Senior moments,’ otherwise known as fleeting bursts of forgetfulness, are becoming more commonplace, according to memory experts.

Sometimes we might find ourselves struggling to remember the name of our friends, co-workers, words that usually roll off our tongues or how to perform tasks that are usually instinctive, per the Journal.

It’s a time of great transition for many as they return to work and settle in new routines, but add the uncertainty of the war in Ukraine, it’s not surprising our brains are on cognitive overdrive, per the news outlet.

The brain consumes energy just like other cells in our body and it’s much more than we think, according to neuroscientists.

Stress is a big culprit, in part because of the pandemic, but also because research shows those who have experienced "recent life stressors" have memory issues, according to Dr. Grant Shields, an assistant professor in the department of psychological science at the University of Arkansas, who has done research on the subject.

COVID-19 & the VAX are the biggest cause I feel.

But it seems the Media is trying to avoid that issue, calling it STRESS. Thus avoiding the LSD's sh%^y poor handling of the Pandemic.

BTW
It has been almost 2 months for us, and I still have a few C-19 Brain Fog events.

Like this morning, I just caught myself before putting Powder Creamer in the coffee filter to make coffee.

#2  Our brains are like computers with so many tabs open right now," said Dr. Sara C. Mednick, a neuroscientist and professor of cognitive science at the University of California, Irvine.
"This slows down our processing power, and memory is one of the areas that falters."

#3  Sorry, but this disinformation must be corrected

"Absolute nonsense. My mind
is still like a steel prat."

The graphic stays.

"Absolute nonsense. My mind
is still like a street rat."

There, much more accurate.
