[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] New York City kicked students out of a Brooklyn high school in order to relocate nearly 2,000 migrants housed at Floyd Bennett Field ahead of a potentially damaging storm.
Republican Councilwoman Inna Vernikov posted video of the migrants entering James Madison High School without having to scan their faces the way students typically do.
'A lot of law enforcement and other agency resources have been poured into this situation tonight. Also, these children are being moved from place to place and will be forced to wake up at 4:30am to leave the school to go elsewhere. Unacceptable situation for all!'
In a statement, City Hall referred to the illegal migrants as 'guests' and called it a temporary stay.
'The health and safety of migrants in our care is always a top priority, which is why we are currently overseeing the relocation of 1,900 guests from the humanitarian emergency response and relief center at Floyd Bennett Field due to an updated forecast with increased wind speeds estimated to be at over 70 MPH tonight.'

^ Yes, echoes of forced billeting of British soldiers. Considering the illegals are for all intents an occupying army, echoes all too clearly.

I think the case of qualified immunity can be made; because they are not citizens and not being prosecuted, and are not recognized ambassadors of a foreign country, they are government officials.
Ironic, NYC being the hotbed protesters of The Intolerable Acts. But sorrite, ya got a dude singing in his undies and a brand.
After the project finally crashes and burns, they’re going to have to reconstitute temperature records from tree rings and glacier samples, just to find out what really happened.
[IsraelTimes] 2023 was the hottest year on record, with Earth’s surface nearly breaching the critical limit of 1.5 degree Celsius above late 19th century temperatures, the EU climate monitoring service says.
"It is also the first year with all days over one degree warmer than the pre-industrial period," says Samantha Burgess, deputy head of the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S). "Temperatures during 2023 likely exceed those of any period in at least the last 100,000 years."
I look forward to the Watts Up With That crowd fisking this claim.

World wide Temperature in 2022 and 2023 was influenced by the Tonga eruption in early 2022. This event resulted in about 50M tons of water vapor added to the stratosphere.
In 2023, a strong El Nino added substantial heat to the troposphere.
Both the satellites and near ground level records consistently showed warming above long term of about 0.3 degrees C for 2023.

Speaking of KC and temperature, the forecast for the KC-Miami game is brutal. Game time Temperature may be below zero F for only the 5th time in an NFL game played in the open air (at least since 1967, I'm not sure they kept track before that).

[DailyCaller] A federal appeals court shot down the Biden administration’s efforts to repeal existing regulations on dishwashers and clothes washers on Monday.
The U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals issued an opinion in a legal battle between eleven red states and the federal government over the Department of Energy’s (DOE) efforts to impose energy and water efficiency standards for dishwashers and clothes washers that asserted it "is unclear that DOE has statutory authority to regulate water use in dishwashers and clothes washers," according to the opinion’s text. The Biden administration has attempted to push new standards for both appliances since coming into office in 2021 as part of a wider push to nudge the market toward more energy efficient appliances, which in some cases are generally less effective than their other models, the court asserted in its opinion.
In March 2018, the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) proposed standards for dishwashers that allow the sale of models that run faster cycles, using more energy and water than standard dishwashers in the process. The Trump administration then adopted similar guidelines as policy in 2020, but the Biden DOE repealed those standards in 2021 before advancing its own standards that crack down on the faster models advantaged by the Trump administration’s rules in May 2023.
"But even if DOE has water-usage authority over the relevant appliances, the Department (b) failed to adequately consider the negative consequences of the Repeal Rule, including the substitution effects of energy-and-water-wasting rewashing, prewashing, and handwashing," the opinion states. "In promulgating the Repeal Rule, DOE stated that its energy conservation program must promote ’water conservation’ and regulate ’water use’ ... But it is unclear how or why DOE thinks it has any statutory authority to regulate ’water use’ in dishwashers and washing machines."
"In our court, however, DOE pretends it repealed the 2020 rules because it committed merely procedural errors by ’failing to adequately consider the [Energy Policy Conservation Act’s] requirements ... It borders on frivolous to say the 2020 Rules failed to consider" the relevant statutes, as "the 2020 Rules considered these sections extensively," the opinion states. The DOE "amplified its capriciousness by throwing the baby out with the bathwater."
The court’s opinion also points out that there is "ample evidence" to support that DOE’s dishwasher standards actually accomplish the opposite of their intent, stating that "they make Americans use more energy and more water for the simple reason that purportedly ’energy efficient’ appliances do not work."
Beyond clothes washers and dishwashers, the Biden DOE has also sought to impose energy efficiency regulations for items like water heaters, furnaces and pool pump motors. The administration has also spent hundreds of millions of dollars on helping state and municipal governments pursue building codes
"In this opinion, the court has forced DOE to follow the law and even noted that one of the positions DOE took in this suit ’borders on frivolous.’ This decision allows manufacturers to build better dishwashers, not be encumbered by counterproductive federal regulations," Devin Watkins, an attorney for CEI, said of the opinion.
The DOE did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

I've replaced several dishwashers over the years. My current one is now 100% efficient. It uses absolutely no water or electricity. It did such a poor job out of its box that I stopped using it altogether.

My "energy efficient" dryer usually takes 2 cycles. Ditto the dishwasher. The new "energy efficient" electric range takes a long time to boil water. The new water efficient toilet has to be flushed twice.

[Last Refuge] You will likely hear the term "farm subsidies" as Western media claim the German farmers are protesting the decisions by government. However, what they are protesting is not a hand-out of government funds, but rather the addition/increase of taxes for diesel fuel and farming equipment.
The planned eight-day countrywide protests by agricultural workers began today. The actions include motorway blockades and are described by the head of the farmers’ association as "the like of which the country has never experienced before." The government is planning to increase taxes on Diesel fuel and farm equipment as part of the German "Build Back Better" climate agenda.
Additionally, you might remember the Canadian "trucker protests," when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his left-wing government tried to deflect attention from the justified motive of the truckers by claiming they were Nazis and part of the right-wing extremist conspiracy to destroy government. Well, that same approach is taking place in Germany with government officials claiming the German farmers are backed by right-wing Nazis.
🇩🇪 German farmer @AnthonyLeeLsvD tells me about the farmers’ uprising:
“We’re sick of the lies. We’ve been here for generations, we work 24/7, we’re the people who put food on your plates!
We are all united in getting rid of the politicians who are trying to get rid of us!” 🔥 pic.twitter.com/Z69cjvSmYF
The German Farmers' Association spoke of unacceptable "tax increases". However, it is correct that these are tax concessions that are to be abolished. In the case of diesel, which is already tax-privileged compared to petrol, farmers have so far been exempt from around half of the tax rate. They are also exempt from motor vehicle tax.
In Lower Saxony, for example, where farms are significantly larger than in the south of the republic but smaller than in eastern Germany, the average main farm spends around 21,000 euros a year on fuel, according to the state government. According to the information, the loss of the tax exemption amounts to around 3,000 to 3,500 euros.

[Just The News] The bulk of $280 billion in savings from the IRA's prescription drug provisions has been redirected to fund $7,500 tax credits on new electric vehicles and $4,000 tax credits on used electric vehicles, as well as other energy efficiency programs.
The Biden administration took an unprecedented step of rolling its climate agenda into a health care concern with the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). According to critics, it makes climate change a priority. In both cases, they say, it’s not accomplishing anything with either goal.
DIVERTED FUNDS
Medicare provisions within the IRA are siphoning funds into green energy policies, Isabelle Morales, federal affairs manager for Americans For Tax Reform, told Just The News. The IRA, Morales explained, grants the Secretary of Health and Human Services the ability to negotiate the price of prescription drugs on behalf of Medicare.
"The negotiation is basically, if a company doesn’t comply, they’re subject to 90% tax on all of their earnings. So, it’s really not a negotiation," Morales said.
Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Mark Merritt, president of Proactive Strategies Group, said that only about 15% of the $280 billion in savings from the program goes into Medicare. The bulk of the savings, Merritt explained, are going to support the $7,500 electric-vehicle tax credit.
Morales said the siphoned funds are also supporting the $4,000 used electric-vehicle tax credit, and tax credits for energy efficiency items, such as doors. The tax credits on these vehicles, Merritt said, are items that wealthier Americans purchase. In 2019, half of those enrolled in Medicare earn less than $30,000 per year, whereas the typical Tesla buyer earns around $150,000 per year.
According to Merritt, the savings that go into Medicare pay for some "relatively inexpensive new benefits," such as a $2,000 annual cap on pharmacy spending. The overall Medicare program's budget is projected to rise from $1 trillion in 2023 to $1.8 trillion in 2031.
