I'm guessing the photo of Lillian was taken early in her career which was when she was about about 9 yrs old according to records. Truly, a child star.
See developments in Britain here, and yesterday here.
[BBC] A British man who took four people hostage at a synagogue in Texas had been investigated by MI5.
Malik Faisal Akram, from Blackburn in Lancashire, was the subject of an investigation in late 2020 but by the time he flew to the US he was assessed to be no longer a risk.
The siege at the synagogue in Colleyville near Dallas ended after 10 hours, with the four hostages unharmed.
Akram, 44, was shot dead by police.
He had been on the British security service's watchlist as a "subject of interest" in 2020 and was investigated in the second half of that year.
But by 2021 Akram, who had a criminal record in the UK, had moved from the active list to the "former subject of interest" list and was no longer considered a threat.
The gunman who took four people hostage at a Texas synagogue in a 10-hour standoff that ended in his death was checked against law enforcement databases before entering the United States but raised no red flags, the White House said Tuesday.
Malik Faisal Akram, a 44-year-old British citizen, arrived in the US at Kennedy Airport in New York on a tourist visa about two weeks ago, officials said. He spent time in Dallas-area homeless shelters before the attack Saturday in the suburb of Colleyville
Akram was not believed to be included in the Terrorist Screening Database, a listing of known or suspected faceless myrmidons maintained by the FBI ...Formerly one of the world's premier criminal investigation organizations, something for a nation to be proud of. Now it's a political arm of the Deep State oligarchy that is willing to trump up charges, suppress evidence, or take out insurance policies come election time... and shared with a variety of federal agencies, two law enforcement officials told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named. Had he been included, it would have been extremely difficult for him to get into the country.
"Our understanding, and obviously we’re still looking into this, is that he was checked against US government databases multiple times prior to entering the country, and the US government did not have any derogatory information about the individual in our systems at the time of entry," White House press secretary Jen Psaki ...a valley girl who woke up one morning and found she was spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of State under Obama. A new American success story, under Biden she became spokeswoman for the whole administration, and she was even able to get her sister a job... said.
She added: "We’re certainly looking back... [at] what occurred to learn every possible lesson we can to prevent attacks like this in the future."
The investigation stretched to England, where over the weekend police announced that two teenagers were in jug in connection with the standoff. The teenagers are Akram’s sons, two US law enforcement officials told AP. The officials were not authorized to discuss the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity.
On Tuesday, police in Britannia said the teenagers had been released without charge. They were detained in Manchester, about 30 miles from Akram’s hometown of Blackburn.
Investigators believe he had initially traveled to New York believing that Siddiqui was still being held there — where her trial occurred — without realizing she had been sent to a federal prison in Texas.
During the standoff, Akram forced Cytron-Walker to call Angela Buchdahl, the senior rabbi at New York’s Central Synagogue, and told him to demand Siddiqui’s release. In at least one subsequent call, Akram ranted and demanded that Buchdahl make efforts to get Siddiqui freed, an official said. Buchdahl called 911 and reported the calls to New York City police.
Investigators are still working to sort through all of Akram’s movements in the US and are reviewing travel, financial and phone records, but they believe Akram may have traveled by bus to Texas, two of the officials said.
Authorities believe Akram bought the handgun used in the hostage-taking in a private sale, according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is still going on.
In another major terrorism case, Omar Mateen ... the Afghan-"American" who decided he was a soldier of the Caliphate and shot fifty unarmed people to death in a Florida gay bar he used to frequent... , who killed 49 people at an Orlando, Florida, nightclub in 2016, had been investigated repeatedly by the FBI but not charged. The FBI undertook an internal review of how it handled tips and leads in terrorism investigations.
Akram, 44, had spent time in Texas homeless shelters in the two weeks leading up to the attack, and was dropped off at one by someone he appeared to know. The hostage taker was brought to the shelter in downtown Dallas on Jan. 2 by a man who hugged him and had conversations with him, says Wayne Walker, CEO and pastor of OurCalling, which provides services to homeless people.
“He was dropped off by somebody that looked like he had a relationship with him,” says Walker, who says he turned photos and video over to the FBI.
Malik Faisal Akram chose to hold synagogue worshipers hostage in Colleyville, Texas Saturday because he believed in antisemitic tropes and was convinced that the Jewish worshipers inside would have the power to organize the release of a Pak prisoner tossed in the clink I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece! nearby, one of the four worshipers held at gunpoint told The Times of Israel on Monday.
"He did not come there to kill Jews ... He came here to release [Aafia Siddiqui ...American-educated Pak cognitive neuroscientist who was convicted of assault with intent to murder her U.S. interrogators in Afghanistan. In September 2010, she was sentenced to 86 years in jug after a three-ring trial. Siddiqui, using the alias Fahrem or Feriel Shahin, was one of six alleged al-Qaeda members who bought $19 million worth of blood diamonds in Liberia immediately prior to 9-11-01. Since her incarceration Paks have taken her to their heart and periodically erupt into demonstrations, while the government tries to find somebody to swap for her... ], and he had bought into the extremely dangerous, antisemitic trope that Jews control everything, that we could call President [Joe] Biden and have him release her," Jeffrey Cohen said in an interview over Zoom.
[Babylon Bee] Under the advisement of the CDC and WHO, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases will be replacing all COVID tests with just a coin you flip.
"It seems to be about as accurate," confirmed Dr. Anthony Fauci while signing autographs for CNN reporters. "The PCR tests give us a lot of false positives and the rapid antigen tests most people now use are even less reliable. At this point, it is prudent to recommend a coin toss as a cost-saving measure."
Official CDC guidance states the test can be performed with any spare change, but that best results are achieved with the official government-issued coin toss quarter.
Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson slammed the new coin test. "Americans have been sliding down the slippery slope for two years now. First, we had to lockdown for two weeks to 'slow the spread,' then we were told we could stop wearing masks if we took an experimental vaccine. Now the health of Americans hinges on a coin toss!?"
Tucker then stared at the camera in a mix of confusion and anger, like he didn't know what to order from Burger King.
On Tuesday morning, Sen. Rand Paul rudely asked Dr. Fauci if the coin test was an attempt to lengthen the pandemic by legitimizing random test results.
"Again with the theater," said a righteously angry Dr. Fauci who did not answer the question. "You are wrong again, as usual! Mic drop!"
In light of new testing guidance, President Biden is rebranding his promise to send free COVID tests to every American by referring to it as a new stimulus bill. The Free Money Bill is planned to boost waning approval in time for the 2022 midterm elections.

This is all about putting his opponents in his own party on their back foot. It does do a good job of showing the measures are arbitrary and political rather than scientific. At American Thinker, they are speculating that Bidet will have to do the same here to try to influence the mid-term elections.

Agreed.
This garbage will be over before November.
I hope there is hell to pay after November.

Someone smarter than me why malfeasance in office isn't a basis for the elected county sheriff to arrest a D.A. and sequester them awaiting trial away from office due to impending public corruption investigation on willful failure to enforce the law?

The 'problem' has been the corrupt ruling class in places like Honduras, just like you operate back home. So, I take it, this is just a courtesy visit.
[FoxNews] Durant, who has never held elected office, says people are ready for a fresh face and an outsider, rather than a career politician
Former U.S. Army Special Operations aviator Mike Durant is making a splash as the newest candidate in the Republican race to become Alabama's next U.S. senator, joining an already heated contest to replace retiring Republican Sen. Richard Shelby at the end of his term.
Durant, who was famously shot down during the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia and portrayed in the 2001 film "Black Hawk Down," told Fox News in an exclusive interview that his experience in the military, and as a small business owner working with the Department of Defense, had prepared him to take a stand for average Alabamians against the Biden administration's "mismanagement" of the country.
Durant expressed his desire for America to hold on to the founding principles that made it great, rather than cave to pressure from the liberal media seeking to tear them all apart in their efforts to appease Big Tech companies.
"There's a frustration level that is arguably at its highest point now with the current administration, the kind of decisions that are being made. And if I had to point to a single event that just put me over the top, it's probably the way the withdrawal from Afghanistan was handled," Durant said when asked why he decided to jump into the race after his now-opponents, Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., and businesswoman Katie Britt, had already been campaigning for months.
"I just couldn't believe it understanding the decades of sacrifice, thousands of lives lost, and just to see complete mismanagement because you have people in positions of authority who are career politicians – they don't understand the implications of their decisions," he said, seemingly referencing President Biden who has spent over 50 years of his life in public office.
Durant said when compared to most career politicians, he has lived two lives. He pointed to his time in the U.S. Army as well as his subsequent career as a business owner. He added that because of those experiences he had a much better understanding of the issues facing Americans and couldn't see himself being angry on the sidelines any longer.
When asked how his experiences would help him stand out from Britt and Brooks, Durant argued that the longer one stayed in politics, the further they distanced themselves from the real world.
"You don't understand what's really going on out there with average Americans, average Alabamians in this case, what impacts them, what their values are. You get sucked into the Washington machine," he said. "The founding fathers, their vision of this was not that. Their vision of this was citizens serve, they represent their constituents, they get something done, and they go back home."
Britt and Brooks each have extensive experience working in politics. The former served as Shelby's chief of staff before becoming president of the Business Council of Alabama, while the latter was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010 after serving a number of years in the Alabama state legislature and as a member of the Madison County Commission.
While discussing his experience as a small business owner, Durant, who served as president and CEO of Pinnacle Solutions Inc. until reportedly turning control of the company over to his employees this month, said he knew what it was like to worry about the well-being of employees and their families, especially when working with the federal government and the accompanying uncertainty of whether a contract would be paid or not.
According to AL.com, the most recent polling in the race shows Brooks with a slight lead at 31.4% with Britt close behind at 26.2%. Durant, who joined the race months after Brooks and Britt, quickly jumped to 16.6%. Those undecided stand at 21.8%.
Alabama's Republican primary will be held on May 24. If no candidate receives at least 50% of the vote, the two candidates with the most votes will advance to a runoff.

He was the pilot of the second blackhawk that got shot down and the special forces snipers volunteered to help protect and died doing it. Durant was the only one that survived. I knew the crewchief SSt. Fields that went down with him.
While I don't know Durant's politics, he has got to be better than any commiefacist that is in the demoncrat party.
[Breitbart] UK citizen Malik Faisal Akram, who had a known history of extreme behaviour stretching back over 20 years was known to British spy agency MI5 but had been judged as no longer posing a threat to the public in 2020, reports in UK media claim. After 20 years of monitoring, we had just recently taken him off our list. Bad timing I guess.
Malik Faisal Akram, 44, flew to the United States after Christmas 2021, and weeks later took hostages at the Congregation Beth Israel synagogue in Colleyville, Texas. He was shot dead by law enforcement officials at the scene. And of course, that is where it is supposed to end.
Yet questions remain unanswered over how Akram was able to travel and gain access to a handgun given his long history of extremist behaviour. Just a day after it was revealed that Akram was barred from a UK courthouse just days after 9/11 for threatening staff and making comments about the attacks, it is now reported in UK broadsheet the Daily Telegraph that the Muslim male had been investigated by a British spy agency a little more than a year ago. Somehow you simply knew there would be more to this story.

Removed from the watch list following "a little over a year" of inactivity. Does that mean Akram had undertaken some sort of illegal activity in each of the previous 20 years... thus keeping him on the list ?
According to recently released MI5 Sources and Methods, being a solid chap for 12 months or so places one in good standing again.
School Board meeting terrorism obviously has a higher priority at the Bureau. But, but, but MI5...they never call, they never write.
Cynical, suspicious, and untrusting? Yes, all three. Adding to that, I simply don't believe it all.

1- Guy is on MI-5 bad-guy list for 20 years but then is taken off it for good behavior. Does that mean MI-5 reviews its bad-guy list periodically, or was this a special request?
2- Guy doesn't have two nickels to rub together but manages a transatlantic flight to JFK.
3- Security at JFK doesn't flag him. Does airport secuirty have access to the MI-5 bad-guy list? Was he also on the FBI bad-guy list and was taken off of it also?
4- Guy gets to Colleyville Texas and somewhere along the line acquires a gun. Buys a gun from someone even though he just got to the US. "Hello, infidels! Anyone got a gun they want to sell me?"
5- Guy goes to a specific synagogue and takes hostages.
6- Hostages self-rescue, contrary to early reports of an elite FBI team doing the rescuing.
7- Guy assumes room temperature before he can be interrogated.
Yeah, I don't see any holes in that story. No doubt a lone wolf.

/\ FBI nearly beats Colleyville Police Department, Texas State Police, and Rangers to Beth Israel synagogue. Media makes it clear "local Law Enforcement in charge of the scene, not FBI." FBI seen setting up SATCOM (secure communications package) in nearby parking lot. POTUS given hourly briefings, FBI HRT from Quantico flies to Coffeeville along with 60-70 others from D.C. Everything wrapped up and body bag zipped in less than 12 hours. Pats on the back all around.... and more:
The FBI didn't breach to save the hostages, they reacted to the Rabbi leading an escape as an opportune moment. Anyone notice they never mentioned this in all the hero-worship erupting afterwards?

He was let in, Lord Garth. At the other link today, just added at the top of this article, one of the stacked links gives more detail about the synagogue end of the timeline. I didn’t think to paste all that into the post, but the key bit that answers your question is
When Cohen arrived at the Reform synagogue, Akram was already inside. CBI Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker greeted Cohen and told him to say hello to their guest who had been outside in the below-freezing weather and was having a cup of tea.
“All the things they tell you to look for in somebody — eyes darting about, hands being jittery or hidden, facial or body expressions being troubled — he didn’t have that,” Cohen recalled. “He was smiling, he was comfortable, he was relaxed… So I really didn’t think much of it.”
The four CBI members inside began services shortly thereafter.
The thrust of that article is that/how the hostages applied their training from an active shooter course. It’s been previously reported that the rabbi talked about all the security training courses and connections the congregation has done.

"He is accused of spreading corruption on earth through the formation, management and leadership of a group called the Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahvaz and planning and carrying out terrorist operations and destroying public property," the prosecutor’s representative says.

[AlAhram] Egypt’s Court of Cassation upheld on Tuesday prison terms ranging from seven to 15 years against 34 defendants over violence-related charges from 2013.
The court rejected appeals by 34 defendants sentenced over violence at El-Tebeencop shoppe in Cairo, upholding their prison sentences.
The verdicts are final and cannot be appealed further.
The case dates back to August 2013, when violence and riots broke out in central Cairo and other governorates following the dispersal of sit-ins protesting the ouster of late Islamist president Mohammed Morsi.
The defendants were found guilty of illegal assembly, thuggery, murder, and attempted murder of coppers at the Cairo district of Helwan’s El-Tebeen cop shoppe.
They were also convicted of possessing weapons, arson, facilitating the escape of prisoners, and being members of an outlawed group.

Someone foreign and an enemy of the US must have established a surveillance presence over the Delaware residence and established the visitor patterns over the past year. That information from a site that doesn't have the volume of traffic of the WH will quickly allow other ground based assets to do followup de-confliction and confirmation. Once key players are confirmed, influence can be exerted in a number of ways.
The membership of the external portions of the Central Committee can be defined over time and manipulated for effect. Some conversations can only be done in person, absent any medium or record, thus revealing the Puppet Master cast or surrogates over time...

[NPASYRIA] Following the rise of the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... Organization (ISIS) in Deir ez-Zor desert, eastern Syria, auxiliary forces of the Syrian government forces started a military operation in the region on Tuesday.
ISIS, which vigorously acts in Deir ez-Zor desert, keeps on attacking the government forces through setting up ambushes, planting IEDs and landmines and launching hit-and-run attacks.
A local source told North Press that several military convoys of the National Defense Forces (NDF) and the Paleostinian al-Quds Brigade drove out of al-Mayadin city to conduct a security sweep in al-Qoriya and al-Ashara, in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
"The security sweep followed a public emergence and activities by ISIS turbans in the desert," a source of the NDF told North Press.
ISIS takes al-Qoriya and al-Ashara as a strongholds to launch attacks against the Syrian government forces and its auxiliary forces, according to North Press sources.
The two aforementioned areas are near populated areas.
After the defeat of ISIS was declared in Baghouz town in March 2019, ISIS transformed to sleeper cells deploying in the desert and in separate areas in Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, and Hasakah, and others.

The incident occurred on Monday at about 4:00pm when the Joint Security Task Force comprising of police and local vigilantes were on a routine patrol of the area.
This latest attack comes barely three days after button men attacked some communities in Kontagora and Mashehu local government areas, killing three people and abducting 28 others.
An unspecified number of cattle were also rustled during the attack.
The Joint Security Task Force had earlier on Sunday morning repelled an attack by another group of button men after about two hours of gun duel at Bari Village along Tegina-Kontagora Road.
No death was recorded in the attack but eyewitnesses said it was a fierce battle between the button men and Joint Security Task Force.
However, corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds... according to a source close to Kwanan Dutse, the button men came back on Monday evening and barricaded Kontagora Road around Kwanan Dutse, unknowing to the patrol team who ran into the roadblock.
It was learnt that the exchange of gunfire between the button men and Joint Security TaskForce led to the killing of three coppers and two local vigilantes while others sustained various degrees of injury.
The source also revealed that a number of button men were killed in the shootout but their bodies were evacuated by colleagues on their cycle of violences.
Meanwhile, ...back at the bunker, his Excellency called the chief of staff and complained that the artillery was keeping him awake... a detachment of police tactical squad and military have been deployed to the area and have launched a manhunt with a view to tracking down the criminals.

[NYPOST] An Ohio man stole a car while a teenage passenger was asleep in the backseat, leading police on a high-speed chase while the teen texted real-time location updates to authorities, police said.
Raylon Scott, 19, was snoozing in the backseat of a 2012 Audi A4 at a Hyundai dealership in Findlay when Justin Vaughn, 32, suddenly hopped in the driver’s seat and sped off with Scott still inside.
Scott and his friend, Kharisma Guajardo, 17, had brought the Audi there to the dealership to trade it in.
Police were quickly notified that the vehicle was stolen, and Guajardo was able to track the vehicle as it took off "at a high rate of speed" eastbound on US 224.
Scott texted his friend real-time updates of their location "as well as messages about [Vaughn’s] driving and threatening behaviors." The messages were forwarded to authorities, Findlay police said in a blurb.
Police from neighboring Tiffin tracked and located Vaughn, who fled and prompted a vehicle pursuit into Seneca County.
The pursuit ended when Vaughn crashed the Audi northwest of Sycamore. Both Vaughn and Scott suffered minor injuries from the crash, police said, and were treated at the scene by Sycamore EMS. A Seneca County Sheriff’s Office deputy also received an injury to his hand.
Vaughn was arrested after the crash and transferred to the Findlay Police Department.
He was incarcerated at the Hancock County Jail on charges of kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and motor vehicle theft.

The government forces in #Syria’s #Daraa go after 192 citizens on allegations of spreading sedition and libels about the state. https://t.co/5JT7gE7XKk
[NPASYRIA] The Ottoman Turkish-backed armed factions Sultan Shah Suleiman (al-Amshat), which controls Sheikh Hadid district in Afrin countryside, north Syria, built up against an anticipated military action the other Syrian opposition factions may launch against it.
On January 16, the Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian armed opposition factions deployed forces in the city of Afrin over disputes to hold accountable al-Amshat faction and its commander Abu Amsha for committing violations in the region. "He violated our region!"
A local source told North Press that al-Amshat faction has started to deploy rocket launchers in the vicinity of Sheikh Hadid area and has deployed large numbers of fighters loaded with all types of weapons.
Recently, tensions have surged among Syrian opposition factions, most notably between al-Jabha al-Shamiya faction on the one hand and al-Amshat faction on the other as lawsuits filed against the latter and violations allegations were opened.
In early January, the people of Jindires district, west of Afrin, erupted into the streets demanding holding leader of al-Amshat faction accountable because he was involved in corruption cases and violations committed in the area.
Abu Amsha, leader of al-Amshat faction, is the most notable leader of the Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA). His faction controls the whole of Sheikh Hadid district, northwest of Afrin, and he has committed widespread violations there, according to human rights ...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you... reports.
The city of Afrin and its villages, north of Aleppo, have been controlled by Ottoman Turkish forces and the affiliated factions since March 2018.

[NYPOST] Even if you don’t have a loved one plagued by mental illness who refuses to get help, you have to feel for Josette Simon, the sister of the man known as Simon Martial, 61, who has admitted to the horrific Times Square murder of Michelle Go."I remember begging one of the hospitals, ’Let him stay,’ because once he’s out, he didn’t want to take medication, and it was the medication that kept him going," Josette, 65, told The Post.
New York City’s mental-health system (perhaps the entire nation’s) is broken. Time and again, it releases to the streets people who are a danger to at least themselves, and tragically often to innocents like Go. Even pleas from family members like Josette Simon prove futile, as the system doesn’t even use the tools available, such as Kendra’s Law, to mandate treatment.
"There was nothing I could do," she weeps. "And they let him out in the street.
"People who saw him know — he’s crazy," she says. "My brother had been sick for so long." Diagnosed with schizophrenia decades ago, he was taken in by another sister after their mother’s death. "She had to call the police on him a couple of times, but after that, he went downhill. He’s been in and out of mental hospitals at least 20 years."
He did state prison time after robbery and attempted robbery convictions. "Get him some help," she pleads. "I’m not saying let him out, but get him some help."

*Sigh* This is a conundrum: Where does Habeus Corpus end and Confining Dangerous People take hold?
My first full-time job was at a dairy plant less than a mile from the blandly titled 'Central State Hospital'. Driving on its perimeter made you think it was a WW2 Stalag confining POWs with twelve foot chainlink fences topped by triple stand barbed wire. Exterior factory doors and our delivery trucks had to be locked to keep the "crazies" from sneaking in.
Then Reagan happened and the walls came down... The fences demolished and the barbed wire removed. Now, did the homeless on the streets that became fewer each winter die of exposure or leave for warmer climates...? I don't know and never heard an answer.
But the question remains: If someone can declare you an 'Unperson' and Institutionalize you for life then what is to keep it a Fair and Just process?

Magpie,
I consistently hear 'then Reagan happened' and suddenly the homeless/mentally ill were everywhere...but that's not the way I remember it.
In the 70s, there were repeated scandals across the country involving the mentally ill and how the states were essentially warehousing them with just enough food and shelter to keep them alive, and sometimes not even that. In my home state of Ohio, it was an utter horror story at several state hospitals.
It wasn't Reagan who held a gun to anybody's head to shut off the state hospital systems - embarrassed politicians looking for a way out seized on vague and - at best - iffy 'new era' programs that would no longer require the dungeons those hospitals had become. And since they didn't need the hospitals, the budgets could be slashed.
And put to use elsewhere. If the money that had been maintaining the hospitals and their staffs had been put to use elsewhere in the mental health systems, the situation would be seriously different - but it wasn't. It went to pet projects and boondoggles in every state where it was done.
The state mental health systems were for all intents and purposes nonfunctioning and being defunded and dismantled long before Ronald Reagan ever took the oath of office, and that responsibility lies at the state level, not the Federal or executive levels.

Ted Kennedy was instrumental in the closing of mental hospitals. Reagan just didn't do anything to stop it.

Probably half or more of the Teefa berserkers ought to be in institutions of some kind.
Look at those Teefa mug shots from Portland that Andy Ngo publishes: they look like those portrait-photos of mental patients from the early days of photography.
At least two of the people who attacked Kyle Rittenhouse were certified lunatics, for ex -- "JoJo" was literally off his meds and even hurled his psychiatric outpatient's go bag at Kyle.

If they break the law they need to be incarcerated. That's pretty simple, isn't it? If they're nut cases and just want to be left alone, OK. But if they pee on the street, it's a crime and it needs to be treated as such.
I know liberals like to paint Ronald Reagan as a big, bad meanie every chance they get. I don't care if it was Ronald Reagan or Ted Kennedy or George Wallace. Letting dangerous nut cases run loose on the streets was a mistake that needs to be corrected.
OK. The institutions were awful. I saw that movie One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest. I get it. But we can't have them sleeping on the sidewalks. We're not Calcutta, are we?

[BREITBART] A suspect allegedly sucker punched a 79-year-old man with a cane in Brooklyn on Friday, according to video footage of the incident.
Authorities said it took place at approximately 12:00 p.m. on Fourth Avenue near Carroll Street at the edge of Gowanus and Park Slope, Pix 11 reported.
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) posted video of the incident on Saturday.
The footage showed the suspect arriving on a motorized scooter and leaving it on the side of the road. He approached the sidewalk where the victim was standing holding a cane near another person.
The man scanned the area, then apparently hit the victim in the head with his fist, according to the clip. The victim fell on the pavement and the suspect went back to the scooter and fled.
The victim received treatment at the scene regarding a head injury, officers noted.
The elderly man was later identified as Ralph Belgrove, and the man on the scooter identified as 29-year-old Disheem Riley, according to the Daily Mail.
"Although the video is slightly blurry, a still photo of the Riley saw him identified within hours of the footage being released. He has been slapped with assault and menacing charges," the report said.
Officials have not released a motive for the assault or what could have led up to it.
During a recent broadcast of Fox News Channel’s Fox & Friends First, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) noted there was "mixed messaging" regarding crime from New York City Mayor Eric Adams ...retired New York City police captain, member of the New York State Senate, first Black Brooklyn borough president, law and order Dem after a brief fling with the Publicans. The New York Times isn't fond of him, suspecting he may not actually be black... (D).
Adams talked tough on crime, yet praised Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg while Bragg vowed not to prosecute certain crimes.
Malliotakis stated, "So, what New York City is going to see now is our city, unfortunately, move toward the anarchy of Portland ...a formerly lovely city in Oregon, governed by an unholy alliance of communists, anarchists, and incompetents. In 2017 the city was named as the fifth most business-friendly in the nation. It took only three years for the city to degenerate to the point where it became a national embarrassment, with antifa and Black Lives Matter bullying taxpayers and occasionally shooting one as an example to the others... , the murders of reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown ...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel... , the smash and grabs of the Socialist paradise of San Francisco ...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964... , and I am deeply concerned about this."
"If we’re going to continue to elect people like this in our city, Batman is not even going to be able to save Gotham anymore," she added.

[BIZPACREVIEW] In anything but what might be considered a spoiler alert, radical Democrat The Ageless and Downright Brilliant Comrade Maxine Impeach 45! Waters ...U.S. Representative for California's 43rd congressional district, serving since 1991, a total of 30.13401 years. A member of the Democratic Party, she is the most senior of the twelve black women currently serving in the United States Congress, and a member and former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. Before becoming a member of Congress she served in the California Assembly, to which she was first elected back when Disco was in flower, in 1976, which would make it 45.13195 years. She has been a politician for virtually all her adult life. If she was a little brighter she'd be a Communist... claims that U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin ...Dem senator-for-life from West Virginia. Manchin is one of the approximately one (okay, two) Dem senators who exhibits more integrity than Jello, often even representing his constituents... and Kyrsten Sinema ...Dem senatrix from Arizona. She began her political career in the Arizona Green Party and rose to prominence for her progressive advocacy, supporting causes such as LGBTQ rights and opposing the war on terror. She left the Green Party to join the Arizona Democratic Party in 2004 and was elected to a seat in the United States House of Representatives in 2012. After her election, she joined the New Democrat Coalition, the Blue Dog Coalition and the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, amassing one of the most conservative voting records in the Democratic caucus. She won the 2018 Senate election to replace the retiring Jeff Flake, defeating Republican nominee Martha McSally. Sinema is the first openly bisexual (meaning she's not particular) and the second openly LGBT woman to be elected to the House of Representatives and to the Senate in 2012 and 2018, respectively. She also was the first woman elected to the Senate from Arizona.... "don’t care about minorities" because neither Democrat will vote to end the filibuster. An "always optimistic" U.S. Rep. Waters (D-Calif.) also slammed Republicans, who are supposedly under the spell of Donald Trump ...Oh, noze! Not him!... , for their opposition to changing the filibuster math, which she argued posed a "difficult time" for Democrats and the country itself.
Democrats would love to end the 60-vote threshold requirement in the upper chamber to enable them to jam through the currently stalled, so-called voting rights legislation, as well as other components of their far-left wishlist.
Waters told MSNBC host Aaron Gilchrist on Sunday in the footage embedded above that "We have two Democrats, Manchin and Sinema, and they are holding up the Democratic agenda. They have decided that they are going to stick with support of the filibuster, and they don’t care whether or not they undermine the rights of minorities and blacks in this country...they don’t care about us..."
Those who fundamentally disagree with Waters would argue that the Democrat duo are all that stands in the way of full-on socialism in America. Imagine, moreover, the kind of even more extreme rhetoric at play in the political/media ecosystem if the GOP was still in control of the Senate.

[NYPOST] Former Mayor Comrade Bill de Blasio ...cryptocommie mayor of New York and for some reason a Dem candidate for president in 2020. Corrupt and incompetent, his qualifications for office seem to consist of being married to a black woman, with whom he honeymooned in Cuba. He has a preppy-looking son named Dante, whose Divine Comedy involved getting his back hair up when a police car drove past him slowly. New Yorkers voted for him, so they deserved him... will not run for governor, he announced Tuesday.
In a video posted on Twitter, de Blasio touted his record on education and policing before declaring, "No, I’m not going to be running for governor of New York state."
"But I am going to devote every fiber of my being to fight inequality in the state of New York," he added in the 90-second clip, recorded outside one of his Park Slope homes.
De Blasio, who formed a candidate committee in November, promised to announce "more news" in the coming days, hinting he will not exit the political arena.

"We have to raise our hat and headband [in respect] to the Sana’a government, which has after an 8-year war at the forefront, become a mighty fighting force," the activist said.
"With this statesmanship throughout the vicissitudes and conditions of war, Yemen is no longer a back garden for hiking, but rather a protected fortress of steadfast lions," al-Ajil said. "Yemen will emerge from this war in the most beautiful way."

He affirmed that the bombing of Sana’a or other area is not a solution, because the Yemenis will respond, and the war would only escalate further. Sounds like a paid Iranian Stooge

[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] George Nader, a key witness in former special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation and a convicted child sex predator, quietly pleaded guilty last year to involvement in an illegal campaign finance scheme funneling millions of dollars from the United Arab Emirates into Crooked Hillary Clinton ...former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away. Politix is not one of her talents, but it's something she keeps trying to do... ’s 2016 presidential campaign.Nader, a Lebanese American lobbyist, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in June 2020 after pleading guilty to bringing an underage teenage boy to the United States for sex and possessing child pornography. What was not publicly known until recently was that he also pleaded guilty to an illegal foreign donation scheme.
The Department of Justice revealed in a December sentencing memo that Nader had pleaded guilty to a single count on July 22, 2020. The court filing says Nader and Ahmad "Andy" Khawaja, a Los Angeles-based chief executive of Allied Wallet, "orchestrated a scheme to funnel over $3.5 million in foreign funds into the 2016 presidential election." The DOJ added that they "did so to gain direct access to unsuspecting high-level political figures to further their professional endeavors: in the defendant’s case, out of a desire to lobby on behalf and advance the interests of his client, the government of the United Arab Emirates; in Khawaja’s case, in the hopes of securing political appointment in the future."
Nader was indicted in December 2019 for what prosecutors said was his role in a scheme to conceal large sums of illegal campaign contributions to help Clinton in 2016. He was accused of conspiring with Khawaja to conceal the source of more than $3.5 million in campaign contributions to political committees associated with Clinton.

[NYPOST] Police officers fatally shot the gunman who murdered a manager at a Houston Cracker Barrel when she tried to protect a co-worker from being mugged, officials announced Sunday night.
Undercover deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office were conducting surveillance on the murder suspect, a 28-year-old black male, when they saw him leave the location around 6 p.m. and begin walking down the street, Mike Lee, assistant chief with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, said at a presser.
He was approached by the deputies, who called him by name before two deputies opened fire when they believed he had a weapon.
"He began running from them and as they were chasing them, he made some gestures as if he were pointing a weapon at them. At that time our deputies opened fire ... on the suspect," Lee said.
The suspect was transported by a 3 hr circuitous route
to Kingwood Hospital in Houston, where he was pronounced dead. He's dead, Jim! His name is not being released until he’s ID’d by the county forensics office.
Sgt. Dennis Wollford of the department’s homicide unit said the suspect had two open felony assault warrants, and was "believed to be armed and dangerous."
Wollford said there’s "not an obvious gun that we’ve located," but said officials are still processing the scene.
Beloved 59-year-old grandmother Robin Baucom, who had worked at the Cracker Barrel for nearly 34 years, was inside the eatery early Saturday when two men in a Dodge Charger pulled up near the front door, the Star-Telegram reported.
A man got out of the car and attempted to snatch a purse from another employee as she tried to get in the door. Baucom saw what was happening and ran to unlock the front door so the employee could get inside, pushing the mugger as he tried to force his way through the door.

[RT] The US’ Afghan war watchdog saw the collapse of the country’s air force coming months before it happened, citing its over-dependence on the US and third-party contractors, among other issues, as major obstacles. The demise of the Afghan Air Force was predicted by the US’ Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) in a January 2021 report - only made public last week - which described a force wrestling with a host of thorny issues.
SIGAR warned that should US military advisers and contractors leave without putting in place a comprehensive plan for transfer of power, the AAF might find itself unable to "staff, manage, fund, or maintain their forces," imperiling the US’ 20-year "nation building" effort. The agency specifically pointed to the AAF’s failure to focus on non-combat support activities, suggesting that leaving such important tasks for contractors and outside advisers would leave the country’s military at a disadvantage, unable to operate independently.
Noting that operational "sustainability requires the recruitment, training and retention of qualified personnel in all areas of the air forces, including pilots, maintainers and personnel in support positions," the report observed that the Afghan Air Force lacked so much as a comprehensive recruiting strategy - let alone other support functions required to operate a military detachment.
Worse, the AAF’s dependence on contractors meant even if US and coalition forces remained deployed or withdrew in an orderly manner, the department might find itself unable to function should contractors be recalled.
SIGAR’s recommendations - develop and implement formal recruiting strategies, incorporate "support personnel and their training requirements," and complete a "mitigation plan" to ensure the continuation of "essential maintenance, operation and advisory support" to the AAF in the event that contractors were required to leave Afghanistan - appear to have fallen on deaf ears.
NEW YORK (AP) — Former Attorney General William P. Barr has a memoir coming out March 8 titled "One Damn Thing After Another," and billed by his publisher as a "vivid and forthright book" of his time serving two "drastically different" presidents, Donald Trump and George H.W. Bush.
"Barr takes readers behind the scenes during seminal moments of the Bush administration in the 1990s, from the LA riots to Pan Am 103 and Iran Contra," William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, announced Tuesday. "With the Trump administration, Barr faced an unrelenting barrage of issues, such as Russiagate, the opioid epidemic, Chinese espionage, big tech, the COVID outbreak, civil unrest, the first impeachment, and the 2020 election fallout."
The title of the long-rumored book refers to an expression Barr had heard about the nature of the job of attorney general.

[Breitbart] On this day in 1996, Civil Rights icon Barbara Jordan died just weeks before Congress and then-President Bill Clinton were set to advance her reforms to illegal and legal immigration focused on protecting poor and working class Americans from waves of job-killing and wage-crushing mass immigration.
Jordan, a Democrat, became a fixture of the Civil Rights movement after becoming the first black American state Senator in the nation since 1883 and the first black American woman elected to the Texas State Senate. Later, in 1972, Jordan became the first black American woman to preside over a legislative body in the U.S. when she was elected president pro tempore of the Texas State Senate.
That same year, Jordan was elected to Congress. Her election marked the first time a black American woman would represent the state of Texas in Washington, D.C.
“For Martin Luther King, Jr. … he was fighting for jobs and fair pay for African Americans and that’s what Barbara Jordan was doing,” NumbersUSA President Roy Beck told Breitbart News.
Following President George H.W. Bush’s Immigration Act of 1990, which blew open the door for today’s mass immigration levels, Jordan chaired the United States Commission on Immigration Reform.
“We think about 1965 having restarted mass immigration, but it was the 1990s that just shut the door on upward mobility for all Americans in the underclass,” Beck said. “It was just an abandonment of the underclass.”

Of course the Democrats have memory-holed their once-vaunted hero who spoke at the 1992 Democratic Convention and authored the report on immigration that recommended everything the OrangeMan was elected to do.
From the WABAC Machine, here she is summarizing a vision of border enforcement, skills-based immigration and Americanization of immigrants:
Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence:those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave.
The bad news - they're in heavy blue states (RI and CA). The good news - Langevin represents the Warwick RI area (RI - 2) of the state (read - not Providence, which my uncle once described as 'everyone's corrupt down here' when he left Manchester, NH many years ago) and McNerney (CA - 9) represents the area around Stockton, still in spitting distance of SF and fucking Berkley. I think we're now in the mid-20's of Dem rats deserting the sinking ship.
[Gateway Pundit] - Two more House Democrats on Tuesday announced they will not be seeking reelection this year.
Rhode Island Congressman James Langevin (D) announced he won’t be running for reelection after 22 years in Congress.
This is the first open seat in Rhode Island since 2010.
"I have not come to this decision lightly, but it is time for me to chart a new course, which will allow me to stay closer to home and spend more time with my family and friends," Langevin wrote in an op-ed in The Providence Journal. "And while I don’t know what’s next for me just yet, whatever I do will always be in service of Rhode Island."
Langevin, 57, did not disclose why he was retiring from Congress.
Separately on Tuesday, Democrat Rep. Jerry McNerney (CA) announced he will not be seeking reelection this year.
On top of that, the recent Gallup poll is showing a huge shift toward the Republicans in party preference.
However, the general stability for the full-year average obscures a dramatic shift over the course of 2021, from a nine-percentage-point Democratic advantage in the first quarter to a rare five-point Republican edge in the fourth quarter.
[…]
The GOP has held as much as a five-point advantage in a total of only four quarters since 1991. The Republicans last held a five-point advantage in party identification and leaning in early 1995, after winning control of the House of Representatives for the first time since the 1950s. Republicans had a larger advantage only in the first quarter of 1991, after the U.S. victory in the Persian Gulf War led by then-President George H.W. Bush.
Democrats start in a bad position with being the party holding the White House, which usually is a disadvantage in the midterms. But when there are a lot of retirements or people leaving going into the midterms, that makes it even worse. In 2018, when the Democrats flipped the House, Democrats won 41 seats after Republicans had 34 people retiring or seeking other offices. So that’s a very bad sign of what looks like a massive red wave coming.
Right now, Democrats hold a very slim lead on seats in the House. Republicans only need to win five seats to take the majority.
As Raj points out, some of those retirements are in safe Democrat districts. And there are Republican retirements as well, not all of which are in safe R districts. Interesting times, my dears!

[JustTheNews] Biden's decision to use the MLK holiday as a backdrop to push his voting bill exposed another rift: There isn't even agreement in the late civil rights leader's own family about the need for the legislation.
With drama and fury, President Joe Biden declared to the nation on Martin Luther King Jr. Day that state laws requiring voter ID or banning mass mailing of absentee ballots amounted to an "assault on our freedom to vote," especially for minority Americans.
Four days earlier, a poll in Michigan told a different story: Three-quarters of the battleground state voters supported ballot ID requirements, with black voters expressing the highest support at 79%.
Those findings have been confirmed in national polls as well, exposing a dilemma for Democrats in Washington who are making a last-ditch effort to pass legislation gutting many state and local controls of elections in favor of federal standards.
Those standards — like banning voter IDs, imposing no excuse absentee voting and making it harder to clean outdated voter rolls — are not what the majority of Americans are seeking.
"A recent national survey found that four key election reforms are supported by more than 80% of voters," pollster Scott Rasmussen recently wrote in an article highlighting the disconnect. "These include removing people who have died or moved from voter registration lists; requiring all voters to show photo ID before casting a ballot; wanting all ballots received by Election Day; and, having all voting machines made in the United States."
In Rasmussen's latest national poll on the issue, 78% of African-American voters supported voter ID.
Such public sentiments impose a harsh reality check on Biden's argument that state voter laws amount to "Jim Crow 2.0" and are disenfranchising poor and minority voters. Most voters don't see cleaning outdated names from voter roles or requiring IDs to cast ballots as "obstacles to the ballot box" like Biden argued in Monday’s speech.
The polling may also help to explain why several centrist Democrats like Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Jon Tester of Montana, and Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly of Arizona are resisting efforts to change the Senate's filibuster rule so that Democratic voting legislation can pass with a simple majority and not the 60 votes currently required.

Census figures on voter turnout by affilation and race. Voter turnout was greater among all voters in 2020 than 2016. Pub turnout was higher than blue turnout. Voter registration doesn't support a voter discrimination problem. Moreover, blacks think voter ID should be provided to vote. Another Dem-manufactured problem not supported by reality. Because of the greater turnout by Pubs over Dems, it hard to swallow an honest election.
[BBC] Days of sightings of drones over key Swedish sites including nuclear plants have prompted the country's security service to take the lead in an investigation.Three nuclear sites have been targeted and sightings have been reported over airports and the royal palace.
Authorities have not speculated on who is behind the mysterious drones.
Police and the coastguard are searching the sea and islands around Stockholm, local media reports say.
The latest sightings on Monday evening involved a drone above the Forsmark nuclear plant, but security agency Sapo said it was also investigating earlier drone flights near the Ringhals and Oskarshamn power plants. Police appealed to the public to come forward with information.
[NBC News] Biden’s reset plan, senior administration officials said, is to make his conversations with members of Congress less of a public priority and to emphasize spending more time communicating directly with Americans. "Look, Fat. You're a lying dog-faced pony soldier!"
"There is a recognition that we need to change that dynamic," a senior administration official said, adding that Biden has told aides and lawmakers that he intends to make the shift.
Part of the goal is to shed the growing image that Biden is approaching the presidency like a member of the Senate, where he spent more than three decades. "He’s mindful that he doesn’t want to send the message that his role is to be legislator-in-chief," another senior administration official said. He had such a stellar record in the Senate, no?
What some of Biden’s aides have expressed concern about most is the impression that he is seemingly bogged down at the White House, giving too many "one-dimensional" speeches from Washington instead of showcasing what they see as his greatest political strength: empathy and an ability to connect with ordinary Americans. But it will be a tough job, because ...COVID!
But finding the time and the best venues outside Washington has been a challenge, both because of how much time Biden has invested in congressional negotiations and because the pandemic has made such travel outside the capital more complicated and time-consuming.

[KavkazUzel] The Military Court of Appeal upheld the verdict of Moscow resident Anisa Arabieva, who was convicted of trying to recruit Zulikhan Magomadova, a Chechen living in Surgut, into the Islamic State and Dzhebhat-an-Nusra. Arabiyeva was sentenced to three years in a penal colony.
Anisa Arabiyeva (Anna Molchanova) was found guilty in July 2021 of recruiting terrorists under Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (recruiting a person to participate in terrorist activities).
According to the investigation, Arabiyeva communicated on social networks with a Chechen woman from Surgut, Zulikhan Magomadova, urging her to come to Syria and join the terrorists. Magomadova ran away from home and flew to Moscow, where she was met by a convict. A resident of Surgut lived in Arabieva's apartment, the Human Rights Center "Memorial"** reported on January 17.
Arabiyeva denies any guilt. According to her, Magomadova planned to leave for Syria with a man nicknamed Abu Umar, whom she married via video link. However, Arabieva dissuaded her, and as a result, the Surgut woman changed her mind, came to Moscow and wanted to find work there.
At the same time, according to the defense, during the interrogation, Magomadova did not say that her friend urged her to go to Syria. In court, Magomadova said that Arabieva herself wanted to go to the terrorists.
In the interrogation protocol, however, she stated that Arabiyeva urged her to leave for Syria. The correspondence of the girls examined in court and its psychological and linguistic expertise disproved Magomadova's testimony.
The defense also argued about inadmissible testimony given in court by witnesses for the prosecution. One of them claimed that she heard about the recruiting activities of a woman named Anisa from Abu Umar, the other - that she identified Arabiyeva, whom she saw in the company of Abu Umar's accomplices, but the identification was not carried out according to procedural rules.
Despite the arguments of the defense, the court upheld Arabieva's sentence.
According to Oleg Orlov, a member of the Council of the HRC Memorial, such actions of the special services "create the image of our state as a cruel and unjust force." "Don't they realize that they are actually helping real recruiters in a terrorist network?" he asks.

As many as 15 server infrastructures were shut down on Monday in a global bust
German police led the take down of LabVPN and were helped by Britain's NCA
The NCA said the network was used by criminal gangs with links to cyber attacks
They 'cause significant economic harm to businesses', but would not say which
WHAT WAS LABVPN BEFORE IT WAS BUSTED?
LabVPN started in 2008 and allows cyber-criminals to control botnets and malware distribution. It offered VPN services on the Dark Web based on OpenVPN technology and 2048-bit encryption to provide online anonymity for as little as £44 a year. It was a popular choice for cybercriminals, who could use it to hide from the authorities. It was also used to create criminal infrastructure and communicate behind ransomware campaigns.

The issue here is that airplane radar altimeters and 5G cellular are on adjacent frequency bands. Radiated energy bleeds from one band to another, causing interference. Interference with a plane's altimeter is probably not good. The two-dollar word is "adjacent band operation".
Radios can be engineered to be more selective about the frequencies they receive, but before 5G, this was not a requirement. On paper, there is no problem so we are going to do the real-world experiment and find out.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:
[ColonelCassad] Satellite imagery of the aftermath of a Houthi hit at the UAE National Oil Company's fuel terminal in Abu Dhabi. The gas station was most severely damaged, where several fuel trucks burned down after being hit and on fire.
The missiles used in Operation Cyclone Yemen are Quds-2 cruise missiles that hit the Musaffa oil refinery and Dubai airport with four rounds of ammunition. The Zulfikar ballistic missile hit the Abu Dhabi airport. As for the drones, they target a number of sensitive and important targets, in addition to the previous targets, with Sammad 3 drones.
According to Sari, only five ballistic and cruise missiles and "a large number of drones" were used. The Houthis also warned foreign companies, citizens and residents of the "enemy state of the UAE" that they would not hesitate to expand the list of targets in the coming period. Residents of the UAE and foreigners should stay away from important objects.
They also note that the hit was on an object just 5.5 kilometers from the American military base.
The UAE air defense obviously overslept all this.
In retaliation for the attack on Abu Dhabi, the Saudis again bombed Sana'a - about 30 civilians were killed and wounded. As it is not difficult to see from the video:
Last night, #Saudi and #UAE war jets bombed a neighbourhood in #Sanaa and killed over 10 people from one family! Obviously this war crime will go unnoticed and no government will condemn it because they don't want to upset #Saudi and #UAE
PS. In South Marib, the Hadists, using units deployed from under Hodeidah and intensive air support from the Saudis, pushed the Houthis north of Kharib, squeezing a piece of territory that they surrendered as a result of the retreat in November-December 2021.
The Hadists strive to succeed in taking Kharib, but so far, bloody battles are going on north of the city.
Stubborn fighting also continues in the mountainous regions of Jabal al-Balak south of Marib. Both sides are suffering heavy losses. The Houthis claim more than 250 killed at the enemy, the Saudis claim 280 Houthis killed in airstrikes + the Hadists claim another 120-160 killed during ground battles.
In general, the Marib meat grinder, which began in February 2021, continues. The Houthis for 2021 recognized losses in Marib of about 20-22 thousand people. Hadists and Saudis lost about 25-30 thousand killed, wounded and captured. Despite the vague numbers, it's pretty obvious that this was the bloodiest battle of 2021.
As previously indicated, in order to organize this counteroffensive, the Hadists and Saudis were forced to surrender most of the western coast of Yemen and abandon all positions in the Hodeidah area. Since the resource of the redeployed brigades is not infinite, it can be expected that in the medium term, the trends towards positioning in South Marib will again prevail.

[REGNUM] The death toll from an explosion near a cafe in the Somali capital Mogadishu has risen to six people, according to the Xinhua news agency, citing the press service of the local police.
"We can confirm that six people died in the explosion, ten more were injured," the source said.
Eyewitnesses of the incident note that the roof was blown off the building of the institution during the explosion. The security forces quickly arrived at the scene. At the same time, none of the known terrorist groups has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
As REGNUM reported earlier, four people were reported dead in an explosion at a cafe for the military in Mogadishu. Also on January 18, a car exploded in the Dharkenli region in the capital of Somalia. The police suspect that both explosions are acts of terrorism.
At least four people died and nine were others maimed Tuesday when a jacket wallahwent kaboom! in a restaurant near an army barracks in the Somali capital, police officials and witnesses said.
The attacker walked into a Mogadishu tea shop and detonated the explosive vest he was wearing, said Abdirahman Adan, a police officer stationed near the scene.
"We have confirmed four dead, and nine others maimed," he said. "The casualties were taken to hospital."
The bully boy group al-Shabaab ...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord... grabbed credit, saying it was targeting Somali soldiers undergoing training at a Ottoman Turkish-run military academy nearby.
Witnesses said the tea shop was popular with soldiers stationed nearby.
"The explosion destroyed the kiosk and the entire area is chaotic," said Mohammed Yare, one of the witnesses.
The attack came just two days after Somalia's government front man was injured in a bombing in Mogadishu also claimed by al-Shabaab.
On January 12, several people died in a suicide boom-mobile blast in a separate attack targeting a busy part of the capital.
The spate of attacks comes as Somalia limps through a political crisis caused by long-running disagreements over overdue elections.
[Politico - so you know you're getting the Regime spin] Ray Epps met informally with the panel in November and told them he had no relationship with the FBI.
Ray Epps, the former Arizona Oath Keeper at the center of pro-Trump conspiracy theories related to Jan. 6., intends to sit for a transcribed interview Friday with the select committee investigating the attack on the Capitol, his attorney said in a phone interview.
Epps, who has become the centerpiece of an unsupported GOP claim that the FBI incited the mob that ransacked the Capitol last year, met with the Jan. 6 select committee in November and told them he had no relationship to the FBI or any other federal law enforcement agency. But the meeting was just a precursor to a more-formal transcribed interview this week, said Epps’ lawyer John Blischak.
Blischak said he expected more details of Epps’ involvement to become public soon thereafter.
Epps has kept a low profile since former President Donald Trump's allies began promoting a theory that Epps was a federal agent and helped foment the attack. Their claims stem from videos taken on Jan. 5 showing Epps urging Trump allies to "go into the Capitol" — an exhortation that some in the crowd quickly booed and responded to with chants accusing Epps of being a "fed." Epps quickly added that it should be done "peacefully."
Epps was also seen in footage just before 1 p.m. on Jan. 6 at the front of a line of Trump supporters who were among the first to breach the Capitol barricades. He whispered something into the ear of Ryan Samsel, who has been charged as one of the first defendants to breach secured Capitol grounds. Moments later, Samsel and others charged through a barricade, injuring a Capitol Police officer on the other side.
But Epps did not appear to join in the violence and his lawyer says "he was never in the Capitol building" — key factors in the Justice Department’s charging decisions.
Part of the theory promoted by Trump supporters is based on the FBI’s decision to remove Epps’ face from a Jan. 6 suspect list six months after the attack. The list contains images and videos of rioters who were caught on camera in the crowd but who have not been identified or tracked by the bureau.
Blischak told POLITICO that the reason Epps was removed was, in part, because he was no longer an unidentified suspect. Rather, he called the FBI on Jan. 8 and "explained his position" after a relative informed him that he had been the subject of news reporting related to the riot, Blischak said
Blischak said he had no knowledge about why it took several months for the FBI to remove Epps’ face from its "wanted" database.
Trump mentioned Epps by name during an Arizona rally on Saturday, amplifying unsupported claims about Epps’ involvement on Jan. 6.
"How about the one guy ’go in, go in, get in there everybody’ — Epps — ’get in there go go go,’" Trump said. "Nothing happens to him. What happened with him? Nothing happens."
Blischak said he hadn’t heard anything about Trump’s commentary.

[Uncover DC] Recently we reported on the official Fulton County ballot image files from the 2020 general election having been modified without explanation. The file timestamps for those modifications were not associated with expected processes or procedures.
Now we can report that most of those ballot image files that, according to their timestamps, were inexplicably modified and are missing the corresponding file used to ensure they are authentic.
When a ballot is scanned on Dominion Voting Systems, the machine produces an image of the ballot, runs that image through an algorithm, and produces a code (called a hash code) that can be used to authenticate the corresponding ballot image at a future time.
For example, if one were to alter the ballot image and change a vote from Donald Trump to Joseph Biden, you could take that image and run it through the same program, and the hash code it produced would not match the original hash code.
When the ballot image is created, that code is saved alongside the ballot image in a file called a SHA file. So every ballot image (TIF file) should have a corresponding SHA file. For example:
But when we looked at the Absentee By Mail ballot images for Fulton County, we found a problem. Out of 148,318 ballot images, we only have 16,034 SHA files! These are the file listings without SHA files.
Not only that, ballot images saved with SHA files were saved at the same time as ballot images without SHA files on the same tabulator!
He asked the former Dominion Employee, who is now Fulton County Information Systems Manager for the Department of Registration and Elections, Dominic Olomo (Yes, I’m serious). Dominic’s response to why we only have 16,038 SHA files out of the 148,318 ballot images?
Dominic Olomo says:
"I need to know what SHA files he is referring to and from who did he recevice [SIC] these files and when?"
Dominic seems more interested in finding out what we know instead of what happened to the SHA files. You have to ask yourself, "Why?".
Democrats in Michigan were blasted for telling parents that they are not 'clients' of public schools and that they shouldn't be involved in their kids' education
A Facebook post on Saturday shared by the state's Democrats also said parents can sign their kids up in private schools if they don't like the way things are
The post was later deleted on Monday and Democrats apologized for the post
Republicans in the state are calling for Governor Gretchen Whitmer to act on the fiasco
Michigan's gubernatorial elections are coming up soon in March as Whitmer seeks reelection
Former Detroit Police chief and Republican candidate James Craig, who blasted the post on Sunday, will also be running for the governor's seat
[JUSTTHENEWS] Facebook post ignited a hailstorm of criticism as the debate over parental rights continues to rage across America.
A weekend Facebook post by the Michigan Democratic Party ignited a hailstorm of criticism, prompting the party to eventually delete the comment Monday.
“Not sure where this ‘parents-should-control-what-is-taught-in-schools-because-they-are-our-kids’ is originating, but parents do have the option to choose to send their kids to a hand-selected private school at their own expense if this is what they desire,” the deleted post read.
It continued: “The purpose of a public education in a public school is not to teach kids only what parents want them to be taught. It is to teach them what society needs them to know. The client of the public school is not the parent, but the entire community, the public[.]”
The comments echoed a sentiment expressed by failed gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe during a campaign debate last October. “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach,” then Gov. McAuliffe said during a debate with now Gov. Glenn Youngkin. McAuliffe’s statement is widely attributed to derailing his campaign.
Michigan Freedom Fund Executive Director Tori Sachs also took issue with the Facebook post.
Sachs cited Michigan law, which states in Section 380.10: “It is the natural, fundamental right of parents and legal guardians to determine and direct the care, teaching, and education of their children. The public schools of this state serve the needs of the pupils by cooperating with the pupil's parents and legal guardians to develop the pupil's intellectual capabilities and vocational skills in a safe and positive environment.”
Rep. Pamela Hornberger, R-Chesterfield Twp., is House Education Committee chairwoman. She responded with her own Facebook post.
“Michigan Democrats have continually sided with the education establishment and unions to fight against school choice and parent empowerment,” Hornberger wrote. “Their decisions harm our students. If the education establishment and unions continue to fund Democrats, the Democrats will continue to vote against the best interest of Michigan’s students and families.”
In a subsequent post, the Michigan Democratic Party noted they had removed the group’s initial statement.
“We have deleted a post that ignored the important role parents play – and should play – in Michigan public schools. Parents need to have a say in their children’s education, end of story,” the post reads.
The retraction continues, “The post does not reflect the views of Michigan Democrats and should not be misinterpreted as a statement of support from our elected officials or candidates.”

None of this would be happening if schools were actually teaching the kids to read, write, and do a bit of arithmetic. Go look up the test results for your nearest big city school system. The number of students performing at grade-level is astonishingly low.
In Detroit, it was not uncommon for parents to send their kids to the local Catholic school if they could afford it. Now, charter schools are a thing, loved by parents and reviled by the education establishment.

At every level, the "education establishment" is top-heavy with administrators and bureaucrats. Teachers are an afterthought. They all know it and aspire to move into the admin ranks themselves, so the march to whatever orders are given, no matter how absurd.

[RIA Novosti] In the Donbass, on the territory controlled by the Ukrainian army, unidentified persons occupied a school building, said the official representative of the People's Militia of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, Eduard Basurin.
"At the beginning of the month, about 60 militants without insignia occupied the Novognatovskaya secondary school," he specified.
Basurin added that the arrivals also seized the territory of the forestry and placed 12 armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles there.
As reported in early January in the People's Militia of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic , on December 27, Ukrainian security forces occupied a school in the village of Valuyskoye in the territory they control , deployed headquarters there and began to equip firing positions in classrooms.
Since the summer of 2020, additional ceasefire measures have been in place in Donbass. They include a complete ban on firing, placing weapons in and near populated areas, offensive and reconnaissance and sabotage operations. It is also forbidden to equip positions and use drones near the line of contact.

It is worth mentioning that German courts have prosecuted Syrian refugees, either former government officers or hard boyz of Ottoman Turkish-backed factions, over committing war crimes in Syrians.
On January 13, the Higher Regional Court in Koblenz, Germany sentenced Anwar Raslan, a former colonel in the Syrian government, to life imprisonment on co-perpetration of crimes against humanity in the form of torture, murder in 27 cases, assaults in 25 cases, and several counts of rape and sexual assault.
On January 6, the Higher Regional Court in Hamburg in Germany began the trial of a Syrian individual on charges of belonging to a Ottoman Turkish-backed Ahrar al-Sham ...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014... in Syria.
In October 2021, the Federal Court in Germany approved the prison sentences ordered against a number of Syrian refugees for committing war crimes in Syria, among them was a former fighter in al-Nusra ...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ... Front (now Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else ...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State... , HTS).

[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] Washington state Democrat Governor Jay Inslee ...Governor of Washington state and failed candidate for the 2020 Dem presidential campaign, mainly because nobody outside the state and some inside had ever heard of him. He complained, complained, complained that the Trump administration wasn't doing enough to help the state, then returned an Army field hospital and 400 ventilators that didn't get used... announced last week that through an executive order he will be rescinding the state's ban on affirmative action, ignoring the will of Washington state voters who voted to reject the initiative in 2019. But... but... democracy?
The executive order will allow state hiring, contracting, and education to hire based upon affirmative action as means to "diversify" the state government, rescinding the 20-year-old ban.
In 2019, Washington state residents voted to reject Referendum 88 in a 50 to 49 percent vote. Referendum 88 acted as a veto referendum that was designed to require a statewide vote on Initiative 1000 which was approved by the state's legislature in April 2019.
Washington Initiative 1000 was designed to allow affirmative action policies by the state of Washington in the areas of public education, public employment, and public contracting as long as such policies do not constitute preferential treatment (as defined) and do not use quotas.
Inslee released a statement on Monday and said that his executive order will work to achieve equity in government institutions, which received praise from other state officials including Seattle ...a formerly lovely city in Washington state, governed by communists, anarchists, dipshits, and other sorts of incompetents. Home to Starbuck's, Boeing (at least for now), and Amazon, Microsoft, and Costco, the city became rich beyond its wildest dreams. All that money attracted the usual sort of grifting politician, and it's well on its way to chewing off the hand that feeds it... 's new Democrat Mayor Bruce Harrell.

So an executive order supercedes a constitutional referendum? Slo-Joe('s handlers) watch with bated breath
[RT] Students at Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, public schools won’t be asked to recite a chant based on Aztec religious practices, which some parents compared to a prayer to "demotic" pagan gods, who used to get human sacrifices.
The California Board of Education and Department of Education (CDE) agreed to drop the rite from the model curriculum for the optional Ethnic Studies Program, local media reported. The decision was taken as part of a court settlement with three parents who objected to its adoption last March.
The model curriculum offered teachers a number of "affirmations, chants, and energizers" to be used in classroom to "bring the class together, build unity around ethnic studies principles and values, and to reinvigorate the class following a lesson that may be emotionally taxing or even when student engagement may appear to be low."
One of them dubbed "In Lak Ech affirmation" is based on Aztec beliefs about the world and its origin. The guideline describes it as an adaptation "into poetic, rhythmic, hip hop song form" of the Aztec concept of four movements or four epochs, the Nahui Ollin. The chant focuses on the idea of unity between oneself and another person.
The modern reimagining of Nahui Ollin puts forward four principles of self-reflection, learning history, creativity and self-renewal. However, facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable... they were named after Aztec deities. So when students during the In Lak Ech affirmation call out their creative side, for example, they also invoke Huitzilopochtli, the Aztec god of war, sun, and human sacrifice.
The plaintiffs in the case, represented by the Thomas More Society, alleged that the CDE was de facto introducing pagan prayers into the curriculum, in violation of California’s constitution.
"The Aztec prayers at issue — which seek blessings from and the intercession of these demonic forces — were not being taught as poetry or history," Paul Jonna, partner at LiMandri & Jonna LLP and Thomas More Society Special Counsel, said in a statement.

[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] The star of the former MTV show “16 and Pregnant,” Jordan Cashmyer, has died at the age of 26. Sixteen and Pregnant, Twenty Six and Dead
News of Cashmyer's death was revealed on her mother on Cashmyer’s father’s Facebook page. She did not reveal the cause of death.
Cashmyer, who struggled with homelessness and teen pregnancy, was disowned by her parents on the show who did not approve of her relationship with her boyfriend, Derek Taylor. After being kicked out of her parents’ home, Cashmyerand her boyfriend struggled to find work and housing. She eventually gave birth to her daughter Genevieve.
"Last night I received a call no parent ever wants," the Facebook post reads. "My oldest beloved daughter, Jordan has passed away, she was only 26 years old. Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should ever have to go through losing a child, EVER."
The post added: "Please keep my family in your thoughts prayers as we navigate through this terrible tragedy. Please understand and respect our privacy at this time. We are surrounded by the love and support of our children, granddaughter Lyla and family members."
As detailed by Fox News, Cashmyer's struggles continued well after the show ended. In 2015, she signed over the custody rights of her daughter to Taylor’s mother. Deadline reports that in 2017, Cashmyer was arrested for drug possession, but had apparently celebrated a year of sobriety early last year.
Her representative told E! News that he learned of her death on January 15.
"This is an incredibly sad day. Jordan was a sweet and caring person," he stated. "Last we spoke she was doing well and seemed to be in a good place mentally and physically. I wish people had the opportunity to know her beyond her struggles. I was always rooting for her and am grateful I had the chance to know and work with her all these years."
"Life wasn't always kind to her so now she is able to be at peace."

[RT] The North Korea ...hereditary Communist monarchy distinguished by its truculence and periodic acts of violence. Distinguishing features include Songun (Army First) policy, which involves feeding the army before anyone but the Dear Leadership, and Juche, which is Kim Jong Il's personal interpretation of Marxism-Leninism, which he told everybody was brilliant. In 1950 the industrialized North invaded agrarian South Korea. Twenty-one countries of the United Nations eventually contributed to the UN force opposing the invasion, with the United States providing around 90% of the military personnel. Seventy years later the economic results are in and it doesn't look good for Juche... n hacker group APT37 attacked the Russian Foreign Ministry and its employees in late 2021 and subsequently compromised the account of a government employee, US information security experts have reported.
According to researchers at US cybersecurity companies Cluster25 and Black Lotus Labs, and later reported by Moscow daily Kommersant, a phishing campaign was targeted at the Ministry back in October. The researchers claim that some employees were sent archives of documents and asked to provide vaccination details, while others were fed with links to malware disguised as software the Russian government uses to collect Covid vaccination statuses. As a result, one account was compromised.
From the compromised address, hackers managed to send a phishing email to Russian Deputy Minister Sergey Ryabkov on December 20 and also targeted the Russian Embassy in Indonesia.
APT37 is well-known for using software called Konni, a remote administration tool. It has been reportedly used to target South Korea, as well as political organizations in Japan, India, and China, among other countries. According to Kommersant, the group has been around since at least 2017.
This latest accusation isn’t the first time that North Korea has been blamed for attempted phishing attacks on Russia. In November last year, Kommersant reported that another hacker group, Kimsuky, sent phishing emails written on behalf of well-known Russian experts, scientists, and NGOs to experts on Korea in an attempt to obtain online login credentials.
Last week, Russian security services arrested a notorious group of hackers following information provided by US authorities. The Federal Security Service ... the successor to the KGB... (FSB) detained people in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Lipetsk Region who were allegedly members of REvil, a notorious ransomware group known for receiving millions in ransom payments.
[BBC] Billionaire investor Chamath Palihapitiya is under fire for saying that he - and most Americans - "don't care" about abuses against the Uyghur minority in China.
Mr Palihapitiya, a part-owner of San Francisco's basketball team, made the comments during a podcast discussion of whether President Joe Biden's action on the issue had helped him politically.
The remarks drew social media backlash.
Mr Palihapitiya later admitted that his comments "lacked empathy".
In a statement intended to clarify his stance, he said "important issues deserve important discussions".
"I believe that human rights matter, whether in China, the United States, or elsewhere," he wrote on Twitter.

[NPASYRIA] Locals and the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Azaz city, Aleppo northern countryside, said recklessness of the Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian armed opposition factions, controlling the city’s entrances and exits locations, and failure to search military vehicles on the checkpoints have led to frequent incidents of explosions of IEDs, boom-mobiles, cycle of violence bombs to take place.
The people said defiance of the security forces contribute in increasing insecurity in Azaz as well as in other areas where Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian armed opposition factions control.
Last week, consecutive explosions took place in the two cities of Azaz and al-Bab leaving casualties. An IED was placed in a vehicle belonging to an officer in charge of the Military Police faction in front of the transportation directorate. The officer in charge was killed and two further officers were maimed to varying degrees.
On the same day, two explosions took place in the eastern countryside of Aleppo leaving one person dead and injured another. Material damage was also reported.
Two days later, an IED went kaboom! in the headquarter of the Syrian Front for Liberation in Jindires district, Afrin countryside, killed two members and caused huge material damage. The opposition factions and the Military Police faction deployed forces in the area and pulled out the dead persons.
On December 30, 2021, a fighter in Jaish al-Shamal faction (Northern Army) was killed as an IED detonated in his car in al-Sharqi neighborhood in Azaz city.
Since July 2012, Azaz and its surrounding countryside have been under the control of Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian armed opposition factions, which include many security forces like the Military Police, the Civil Police, the State Security and Counter-Narcotics Forces. Some of the aforementioned factions follow the Syrian opposition while others follow the Ottoman Turkish forces.
Muhammad Ramdo, a pseudonym for a lawyer in Azaz. He said festivities and skirmishes among the opposition factions on the one hand and the security forces such as the Military Police and the Intelligence forces on the other are considered the main gap in the security issue.
Ramdo pointed that the process of search on the checkpoints is temperamental rather than it is a sobriety security act. Passengers driving military vehicles passing the checkpoints are not checked, he said.
According to locals in Azaz, the opposition factions and the Military Police reinforce forces in the city only following a kaboom which usually leave casualties. After that, an investigation starts which but it is "in vain".
In November 2020, the Azaz Security Directorate run by the Police and the general national security established the Rapid Intervention Forces (RIF).
But, people believe the RIF has not got significant role despite they tour the streets periodically.
Adnan Akash, a pseudonym for a 39-year-old man in Azaz city, accused the Syrian government’s informants and the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Organization (ISIS) cell members of being behind the earth-shattering kabooms in the city.
The security forces’ inability to control the area and the insecurity make it bear some of the outcomes of the earth-shattering kabooms and blasts.
