[Zero Hedge] - Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has been accused in a new lawsuit of throwing a temper tantrum over a plan to display a Christopher Columbus statue in the city's annual Columbus parade last fall - threatening to pull the permit for the entire parade and then berating city officials in a 'hastily called Zoom meeting.'
In a lawsuit against Lightfoot and the city, Former Chicago Park District deputy general counsel George Smyrniotis says he was tasked with hammering out a deal with lawyers for an Italian American group in order to try and settle a lawsuit over Lightfoot's removal of Columbus statues from the city. According to Timothy King, then the district’s top lawyer, and then-superintendent Michael Kelly, the lawsuit needed to disappear "as soon as possible."
Smyrniotis says that after hammering out the deal to display the Columbus statue in the annual parade (last, and covered up until the very end), Lightfoot flipped out.
During the contentious Zoom call with Park District Officials, Lighfoot "proceeded to berate and defame" the lawyers for the city - reportedly asking "Where did you go to law school? Did you even go to law school? Do you even have a law license?"
She then told them that they had to submit their pleadings to a city lawyer for approval, and were told "not to do a fucking thing with that statue without my approval," according to the Chicago Tribune.
"Get that fucking statue back before noon tomorrow or I am going to have you fired," Lightfoot said, per the complaint.
Smyrniotis then says Lightfoot made obscene comments to he and King - calling them "dicks," and asking "What the fuck were you thinking?"
"You make some kind of secret agreement with Italians. ... You are out there stroking your dick over the Columbus statue, I am trying to keep Chicago police officers from being shot and you are trying to get them shot," she allegedly said, adding "My dick is bigger than yours and the Italians, I have the biggest dick in Chicago."

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba urged his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi to help mediate a cease-fire with Russia during a phone call Tuesday, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s website.
Mr. Wang said China supported a negotiated solution to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, and “supports all constructive international efforts that are conducive to a political solution,” according to the ministry.
During the phone call, Mr. Wang reiterated Beijing’s stance in respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries.
Mr. Wang expressed dismay at the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, saying China is “extremely concerned about harm to civilians,” according to the statement.
Beijing signed a statement of solidarity with Russian President Vladimir Putin early last month, but has also tried to keep some distance from Moscow after it launched its assault on Ukraine, while accusing the U.S. of inflaming tensions. Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Friday said he supported negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

Ukraine previously asked Israel to help to intercede with Russia and facilitate negotiations. But as we see in the other post, Russia’s position is fixed, not open to negotiation — Ukraine asking China to help isn’t going to change anything. [EpochTimes] The messenger RNA (mRNA) from Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine is able to enter human liver cells and is converted into DNA, according to Swedish researchers at Lund University.
The researchers found that when the mRNA vaccine enters the human liver cells, it triggers the cell’s DNA, which is inside the nucleus, to increase the production of the LINE-1 gene expression to make mRNA.
The mRNA then leaves the nucleus and enters the cell’s cytoplasm, where it translates into LINE-1 protein. A segment of the protein called the open reading frame-1, or ORF-1, then goes back into the nucleus, where it attaches to the vaccine’s mRNA and reverse transcribes into spike DNA.
Reverse transcription is when DNA is made from RNA, whereas the normal transcription process involves a portion of the DNA serving as a template to make an mRNA molecule inside the nucleus.
"In this study we present evidence that COVID-19 mRNA vaccine BNT162b2 is able to enter the human liver cell line Huh7 in vitro," the researchers wrote in the study, published in Current Issues of Molecular Biology. "BNT162b2 mRNA is reverse transcribed intracellularly into DNA as fast as 6 [hours] after BNT162b2 exposure."
BNT162b2 is another name for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine that is marketed under the brand name Comirnaty.
The whole process occurred rapidly within six hours. The vaccine’s mRNA converting into DNA and being found inside the cell’s nucleus is something that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said would not happen.

So far, the deaths among young people have been publicized have mainly foreign male soccer players, which the media here just glosses over. [Iraq] The United States has resumed reviewing cases of Iraqis that have served alongside US service members, over a year after the program was put on hold, the US Department of State said on Tuesday.
"After an extensive review, we have resumed case processing for a select number of Iraqi P-2 cases that had been previously suspended during our review of the program," read a statement from the State Department Spokesperson Ned Price.
The statement added that during the review, they had "identified and resolved the issues that led to our suspension of the program in January of 2021" and that the US is "committed to ensuring that only bona fide and qualified Iraqis who supported U.S. efforts in Iraq are considered for this important humanitarian program."
The direct access program was authorized by the Congress during the US occupation of Iraq in an aim to fasten the process of resettling Iraqis that have faced danger by working with the US.
Over 40,000 applications covering over 104,000 people were frozen when the program was put on hold in January 2021, Rooters reported, adding that US Sherlocks at the time suspected some 4,000 false applications being submitted.

Russian media often write as if Russian troops are fighting for Kharkiv, somewhere as if they are breaking through, some special forces are storming something. I was personally on the spot, and found out that Russian propaganda imitates non-existent success.
In fact, Kharkiv is completely controlled by the great forces of the Armed Forces and the National Guard, by the voluntary squads. The base of the defense is the glorious 92nd mechanical brigade and artillery units, they successfully control the entire perimeter of the defense.
Several Russian assault groups tried to break through on February 27, but they were interrupted and captured.
Since then, Russian troops have been avoiding contact fights. That is, there are no attacks, but attempts to disperse the joke and conduct our intelligence are determined and extinguished before the enemy approaches.
The enemy revoked from Ukrainian positions in Kharkiv for 2-3 kilometers - at the distance of Javelinív. Russian positions in the village of Rogan, they can't get close, because they are not left alone, but they beat.. Because any maneuvers get instant strikes of our artillery.

Threats of Kharkiv exist, but I'm sure if the Russian army goes on a big storm, it will be an unprecedented defeat.
[BenarNews] The Indonesian military and police pledged Wednesday to crack down on personnel who attend religious gatherings involving radical preachers, after President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo had warned the institutions to improve discipline in their ranks.

Niger State is being terrorised by bandits, who have been attacking communities, killing and abducting residents.
For instance, last Saturday, bandits attacked over 10 villages in the Lavun Local Government Area of the state resulting in the death of eight persons while several others sustained injuries of varying degrees.
The bandits, numbering about 100, reportedly launched attacks on Egbako, Ndaruka, Ebbo, Ndagbegi, Tshogi, Gogata and Ndakogitu communities. Others are Satisu, Yekoko, Satifu and Sokiara communities in the council.
It was learnt that the operation continued till Sunday.
The assailants reportedly ransacked each community and unleashed havoc on the residents and rustled an unconfirmed number of cattle.

In the U.S., NATO expansion will trigger an extended debate over its indeterminate, but certainly high, cost and will call into question the U.S. commitment to the Alliance, traditionally and rightly regarded as a centerpiece of U.S. foreign policy.
Because of these serious objections, and in the absence of any reason for rapid decision, we strongly urge that the NATO expansion process be suspended while alternative actions are pursued. These include:
—opening the economic and political doors of the European Union to Central and Eastern Europe;—developing an enhanced Partnership for Peace program;
—supporting a cooperative NATO-Russian relationship; and
—continuing the arms reduction and transparency process, particularly with respect to nuclear weapons and materials, the major threat to U.S. security, and with respect to conventional military forces in Europe.
Russia does not now pose a threat to its western neighbors and the nations of Central and Eastern Europe are not in danger. For this reason, and the others cited above, we believe that NATO expansion is neither necessary nor desirable and that this ill-conceived policy can and should be put on hold.

Now ironically the only alternative to having tens of thousands of his people killed is for Zelensky and the US to restore Minsk II. After having his ass kicked on the battlefield and thousands of innocents slain.
Had Biden - Mr. "Well, sonofabitch! He did what I told him to!" - had the US president forced Zelensky to actually live up to the Minsk II promises of autonomy for Donbas, and told the Russians that we would agree to forswear NATO membership for Ukraine, Biden could have prevented the crisis from ever happening.

My German was fine for Germany and Switzerland, and combined with English led easily to Flemish and Dutch, but Austrian German is unintelligible to the uninitiate. Russian would be fun — I wanted to take some classes at university when I was younger, assuming that those dreadful Russian novels had to be better in the original language, but there weren’t enough of us. And later Mr. Wife managed his Russian responsibilities out of his company’s offices in Frankfurt and Brussels, so there was no need. But a number of other Rantburgers can converse with you in your native tongue, if that would be easier for you. ;-)
As for Farsi, with their birthrate and their apparent eagerness to challenge Allah’s love by triggering a Samson event from Israel, it seems a waste of effort. If I really need to understand something, I have Iranian friends who can translate.

On February 22, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) arrested a group of drug dealers in Tabqa city in the western countryside of Raqqa.

Two days ago, clashes could be heard in the first sector of Hawl Camp where thousands of ISIS family members and IDPs shelter, eyewitnesses told North Press.
Since the prison break in Hasakah, the source said they have received information of a likely widespread attack by ISIS on Hawl Camp.
“Last Monday, a group of ISIS cells were planning for a full-scale attack in the camp, and it is possible that this group is the first one to plan for such attacks,” the source said.

Two members of ISIS cell were killed and others were injured. The rest of them were arrested.

Their health condition is stable, the source said.
Some of ISIS members wore suicide vests, the source added.
The Hawl Camp is a house for about 15,300 families in total of 56,000 individuals including 2,423 families of ISIS detained or killed militants, who hail from over than 60 countries.

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The children of Abdulwahhab Abdullah, a resident of the town of Abu Hamam, east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, attend a destroyed school which located 500 meters away from his house.
“The school suffers from many problems, it does not have water, the windows are broken and do not protect the children from the cold, as well as the heaters have been robbed,” Abdullah said.
Dust fills the faces and clothes of Abdullah’s children due to the school’s rubble, “if the situation remained like that, many students would stop attending it.”
During the battles between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Islamic State (ISIS), 60 schools were completely or partially destroyed in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The eldest son of Abdullah is in the fourth grade while the youngest is in the first, they both suffer from dust allergy, so he called on the concerned parties and those responsible for educational process to pay more attention to these problems.
The towns and countryside of east Deir ez-Zor include about 600 schools, where about 212,000 students study, according to the Education Committee in Deir ez-Zor.
Muhammad Aboud, the co-chair of the Education Committee in the eastern region, revealed to North Press that there will be a meeting in the coming period with the Education Committee in Deir ez-Zor.
The meeting will focus on developing a mechanism for restoring the partially destroyed schools, after receiving several complaints from educational staff and the parents, regarding the impacts of the schools’ destruction on the educational process, according to Aboud.
Students’ dropout is a major problem facing school administrations in the region, Aboud said.
The educational staff is facing many difficulties, due to the destruction of the school’s infrastructure, according to Maha Ahmad, principal of Hawi Abu Hamam School, east of Deir ez-Zor.
Hawi school has neither main gate nor fence, therefore “Sometimes students leave school and go home without telling us, we cannot control the students.”
Beside these problem the school’s floor is not leveled and is covered with dirt, the same applies to sanitary facilities and bathrooms, Ahmed further explained.
“The situation is very bad in the school, the teachers are suffering and can’t give any lessons when it is windy, some students stopped attending school because they are suffering from allergic or asthma.”
Most of the school’s property was stolen, and local and international organizations contributed to the repairs after the residents returned to the city, where they worked to restore what they could, but that require a huge financial resource, according to local residents.
Perhaps what Ahmad hopes at this stage, from the organizations and the Education Committee of the Autonomous Administration is to reconsider the course of the educational process, through reforming schools to facilitate the return of students to them.

Family members of Bureau De Change operators arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) for allegedly financing terrorism have called on the Nigerian government to release their sons, husbands and fathers or take them to the court.
In March 2021, Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said the Nigerian Government had arrested some Bureau De Change operators who were facilitating the transfer of money to Boko Haram terrorists.
He had said some Nigerians transferring money to the sect from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were working with the BDC operators.
“Bureau de change are facilitating money to terrorists. We have already worked with the UAE. Convictions have been achieved of Nigerians who are transferring money to Boko Haram terrorists and this also happens domestically. And I tell you that by the time we finish this investigation, the shocking details will surprise many Nigerians,” Shehu had said.
“Dozens of persons have been arrested by security agents in an ongoing nationwide crackdown on suspected financiers and collaborators of Boko Haram.”
Those arrested are being kept in military and DSS facilities in Abuja and other places.
It was learnt that the Nigerian government last month granted their family members access to them for the first time since their arrest, 11 months ago.
