Chinese scientists announced they’ve invented a new kind of coating for aircraft and other weapons that’s virtually undetectable by radar.

An employee for the conservative group Turning Point USA has reportedly been fired following an incident in which President Trump appeared in front of an altered presidential seal at an event hosted by the organization.
An unnamed Turning Point USA source told CNN that an audiovisual aide responsible for the seal has been dismissed. The source emphasized to the news network that there was "zero malicious intent" behind the image.
"We're sorry for the mix-up and meant no disrespect to the White House or the president or the advance team," the TPUSA source told CNN.
Turning Point USA did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill.

TPUSA had reportedly been planning to use event branding on background screens during Trump's speech. But the team was told just hours before the event to replace the branding with a presidential seal, CNN reported.
"One of our video team members did a Google Image search for a high-res png of a presidential seal," a source familiar with the incident said.
The source said that the individual "did the search and with the pressure of the event, didn't notice that it is a doctored seal." Nobody is that fucking stupid. Things are triple checked for such occasions. Two headed eagle ? Whatever, You decide.

"There is not one person of color ‐ black or brown, that I'm aware of ‐ at any position of authority or decision-making in the DCCC," said Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio), a former chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus. "It is shocking, it is shocking, and something needs to be done about it."
Bustos sought a meeting with Fudge, and Fudge said no.
"Until they show me they are serious about diversity, there's no reason for me to meet with them," Fudge said.
And Fudge isn't alone. Interviews with more than two dozen Democratic lawmakers, aides and strategists detailed months of frustration and unanswered questions about Bustos' efforts to retain staffers of color in top positions, boost Latino voter outreach and hire firms run by people of color. They said Bustos was tactless when challenged by lawmakers of color.
"The overall plan for Latino outreach seems to be some 1980s playbook, which doesn't work anymore," Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.) said.
So it's not about winning, it seems; it's about winning with the right color of people on staff that's what's important. As if one person could perform the job as well as the next one, so get the chocolate box right. This is some amazing bean-counting, focused less on actual winning, which would mean more black and Latino seats in Congress, than it is on the meta-process, on how the winning is done. This is how far-left splinter groups, turning inward on themselves, behave. Far-left communist groups always spew their biggest rage on internal dissenters, which is one reason why they never get anywhere in politics; they are always focused intensely upon themselves. As I have argued earlier, the Democratic Party is becoming DSA-ified, and apparently, the phenomenon is extending well beyond DSA catspaw Ocasio-Cortez. Even the Democratic consultants on the outside are growing angry, yelling racism, too.

The parallels between American politics and the demagogue pissing contests that are called democracy in India are as never before. At first I thought, the Indian political class blindly apes the west and it's just symptomatic of that. But looking at the global hostility to majority consensus, democratic imperatives and legitimate republicanism - I think it's because liberal parties everywhere are all playing from the same book. Unwittingly ?
Why would you want to destroy your own economy ? Practically ensure that your kids never breathe easy outside their guarded homes ? Make yourself reliant upon the whims of an unforgiving and fickle structure like socialism ?
It's like a common doctrine captures the minds of all these "elites" and "intellectuals". It has similar trends that seek to normalize themselves in every society at the same time. The atheism, the rebellion and obstruction, the class and race division, the polarization dressed as diversity, scorn for nationalist or conservative views, a denial of the misanthropy of islam, the glorification and normalization of immorality and pomp... I could go on, but we all know the pattern.
In my part of the world, the Right is winning simply because they are cruder and meaner than the left. They capture power and hang on to it like Putin or Xi. I don't think any American conservative leader is equipped with that kind of crazy, and maybe that is all right. That would again lead to tyranny.
It's a very difficult situation. The deepState won't let go, the swamp can't be cleared out even in two terms. Trump has no other like him. Somehow, within a few years the American public will have to be educated about the reality of the democrats. Decades of liberal schooling shall have to be worked against to wash out the garbage. You'll have to start at the schools, academia, families. But it can be done. The only way to reverse the madness is if sanity comes from within, a tug-of-war can only be carried on for so long.

Price said she did not hear the gunman say anything before he opened fire, and she said her husband, Eddie, saw him emerge from the food court area.
“My husband saw the fire being spit out of the gun,” she said. “It was a white male and he was in army fatigues. He came out of the food court, and that’s when he opened fire.”
Police said Sunday they were investigating whether a second person was involved in the attack, but Price said she saw no indication that anyone else was involved and that there did not appear to be any confrontation to set the gunman off.

A Washington Free Beacon analysis of invoices obtained by a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for all wholesale purchases for city vehicles found that D.C. paid for more than 1 million gallons of fuel in 2018 alone. The city's consumption of fossil fuels did not stop lawmakers from exploring potential lawsuits against the very companies it purchased fuel from. In March 2019, the district attorney general's office put out a request for bids from outside attorneys to investigate and possibly sue major energy producers such as Exxon for reasons linked to climate change.
The bid alleges "Exxon has failed to inform consumers about the effects of its fossil fuel products on climate change." Steve Berman, one of the attorneys representing New York City in its public nuisance lawsuit against Exxon and other energy companies, was among the lawyers that received the bid. D.C. is just the latest city to go after energy companies. In 2017, the cities of San Francisco and Oakland, along with other smaller governments in California, were the first to file nuisance tort claims against energy companies, asking the court to order the creation of remediation funds to pay for damages.
Since that time, the effort has moved east to government administrations in Baltimore, Rhode Island, and even inland locations such as Boulder, Colorado.
D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser is a leader in the U.S. Conference of Mayors, which filed an amicus brief in support of these lawsuits. The organization passed a resolution in June asking Congress to preserve cities' ability to sue energy producers.

[Washington Examiner] Rep. Devin Nunes, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, said the CIA has "come clean" for his review of the early stages of the Trump-Russia investigation.
But during a Fox News interview Sunday, he said former CIA Director John Brennan still needs to answer questions.
Host Maria Bartiromo asked the California congressman which agency, the FBI or CIA, was more likely to have lined up confidential sources to make contact with members of the Trump campaign, under suspicion for ties to Russia.
"Well, as you know, we have jurisdiction over both FBI and CIA and what they do overseas," Nunes said on Sunday Morning Futures. "We have lots of information about FBI people going overseas and doing things, we don’t really have any information from CIA."
He added, "So far, they’ve really come clean. I would say the only one who has questions to answer is John Brennan, because we now know that John Brennan briefed Harry Reid on the dossier in August 2016. At the same time he never briefed me or Paul Ryan who was the speaker of the House at the time."
Nunes was chairman of the House Intelligence Committee at the time.

Trump is not a political genius. He is president because of our outdated and undemocratic electoral college. What he is skilled at is taking advantage of his opponents’ weaknesses, sowing division in their ranks ‐ and setting Americans against each other.
Think about what the Russians, in alliance with the Trump campaign, did in 2016. They drove wedges between supporters of Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton by feeding the sense of aggrievement in the Sanders camp. They worked to lower turnout among African Americans by pointing to the criminal-justice policies of President Bill Clinton’s administration in fostering overincarceration.
Trump’s strategy is thus not just about rallying his base. He also does everything he can to dispirit the Democratic base. He will be happy once again to use social media (and to welcome foreign efforts in this direction) to assail the Democrats from the left. And since Democrats seem to relish attacking each other, they may give him a hand.
The efforts to divide are already unfolding. Consider the well-documented accounts by Michael Scherer and Amy B Wang in The Post and Rachelle Hampton in Slate. They reported on Twitter attacks against Sen. Kamala D. Harris (D-Calif.) that she is "not an American black" because her parents are immigrants. One version was retweeted by Donald Trump Jr., though he later took it down.

Also, nothing unites the discerning American more in the resolve to vote for him again. I have never understood the basis for the Russian meddling thing.
Did the Russians zap the brains of voters ? Did they pay people to go out and vote republican ? I didn't see any fabricated information or false reports about democrats during the US election coverage in 2016. Everything on the news and internet was true. Benghazi, the emails, ISIS... the POTUS was all but doing Alla hoos on C-fucking-Span ! What were the citizens going to do but vote republican ? Nobody needed to meddle in anything.
If they did 'meddle', like the dems say, all they did was expose the democrat legions for their corruption, lies and deception of US citizens throughout the Obama and Clinton regimes. If they say "they supplied damaging information on Clinton and associates", this means they outed what was criminal activity so she couldn't win. They couldn't very well share this intel with Comey now, could they ? There'd be no point.
Dissemination of correct information, exposure of crime in high positions. How is that a bad thing ? They didn't give it to Manafort or Trump, did they ? No, they disseminated it via leaks out into the web. Just so people would know who exactly they'd be voting for if they voted blue.
Even though this is far fetched, let's surmise they did. It could have been Korea or Israel or an American group. Would that be okay ? Is the constant digging into past records, lovers, friendships and deals (even of family and associates) by the dems not attempts to do the same thing ? The dems even got the Eyetalians and the British involved in their stupid 'insurance policy'. Now that is collusion, even akin to a coup.
I just thought somebody should put this argument too, out there.

[ToloNews] Eyewitnesses said the attack happened near Shaheed Circle and that other blasts were also heard from the area.
The office of the second vice presidential candidate for President Ghani's election campaign in Kabul's police district 4 (PD4) in Shaheed Circle came under attack by at least four attackers at around 4:40 pm on Sunday evening.
The attack started with a boom-mobileing followed by gunbattle by four attackers, the Ministry of Interior's front man Nusrat Rahimi confirmed.
The attackers targeted the Green Trend office, a political movement run by former NDS chief and vice-presidential candidate Amrullah Saleh.
Rahimi said that Mr. Saleh was "evacuated from the building and moved to a safe location."
He said that while the gunbattle was still ongoing, the first and second floors of the building had been cleared by security forces.
At least 40 people who were stuck inside the building were rescued during the clearance operation, Rahimi said.
He said two attackers were still inside and that two button men had been killed in the shootout.
Wahidullah Mayar, a front man for Ministry of Public Health, said that at least two people were killed and 25 others were maimed in the attack on Green Trend office in Kabul.

A captured Arab ISIS fighter in Syria who holds Israeli citizenship has said that living through the Second Intifada and in the West Bank has taught him that Israel "has not done 1% of what Bashir al-Assad has done."
In an interview with BBC Arabic's Feras Kilani, as reported by MEMRI, Sayyaf Sharif Daoud said in a July 16 interview that despite tensions between Israelis and Paleostinians, Israel does not rape women nor brutally kill its own citizens. [AlAhram] An Italian coastguard vessel stranded in the Mediterranean with more than 130 migrants colonists aboard has been allowed to dock in the eastern Sicilian port of Augusta but Rome on Sunday refused to let them disembark until a deal is struck with the EU.

[AFP] Four people were killed in a late-night attack by Muslim insurgents on a military outpost in southern Thailand, as dramatic footage emerged showing security forces diving for cover from a hail of gunfire and a grenade blast.

[DAWN] LAHORE: A woman died in Shahdara area on Saturday after a police team allegedly thrashed her during a house raid to arrest her son for electricity theft.
Later a case was against a police official who was leading the raiding team after scores of locals staged a protest demonstration against the incident by placing the woman’s body on the road.
Witnesses said the charged protesters blocked a road for traffic for a couple of hours raising slogans against the police.
The situation turned ugly when the Shahdara station house officer (SHO) allegedly threatened the protesters of criminal cases if they did not disperse.
Following the SHO’s threat, the protesters turned violent and set tyres on fire, warning of an agitation on The Mall.
However, facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable... senior coppers later arriving at the scene controlled the situation by ordering registration of a case against the policeman accused of being responsible for the incident.
Identified as Bushra Bibi, the poor woman was running a small grocery shop at her home to make both ends meet, her relatives said.
They said the police team had thrashed her during a raid meant to arrest her son wanted for power theft which led to her death. The police denied the allegation, claiming that Bushra was a cardiac patient and might have suffered a heart attack resulting in her death.

disclaimer: Despite some half-hearted googling, including searching the UN website itself, I can't find this report.
But I can't help wondering...
56 is a lot. If you piled them up in the living room, it'd be quite a heap.
But what sort of change is that? Was it 55 last year? Given that children come as discrete units, that's only about a 2% change - essentially noise.
Is there a trend up or down? Even if the trend is flat, a growing number of paleos being killed at the same rate means more deaders, so pardon me if I save my outrage for something important.

[PULSE.NG] A man in Romania has admitted to killing two teenage girls including a 15-year-old whose disappearance this week shook the country and claimed the scalp of the police chief, the suspect's lawyer said Sunday.
The suspect, named as 65-year-old Gheorghe Dinca, "has confessed his crimes", lawyer Alexandru Bogdan was quoted as saying by Agerpres news agency.
After initially refusing to answer any questions, Dinca eventually caved and admitted to the murders of Alexandra who vanished on Wednesday and 19-year-old Luiza, missing since April.
Dinca was taken into custody Saturday after Sherlocks searching his home and garden found human remains and jewellery belonging to Alexandra.
She was snatched Wednesday as she tried to hitch-hike home to Dobrosloveni in southern Romania.
On Thursday morning, she girl managed to ring the emergency number 112 three times and give clues to police about the place she was being held by a car driver who had picked her up.
She yelled "he's coming, he's coming" before the line was cut, police said.
The case has sparked outcry in Romania, with thousands of demonstrators taking to the streets of Bucharest on Saturday evening.
Critics allege that officials failed to take the alert seriously and finally reacted too late to locate and help save the teen.

After two weeks of street protests triggered by comments that mocked gays, women and hurricane victims, Rossello confirmed in writing on Thursday that he would quit.
"I would like to underscore that I am not interested in the post of Governor," Vazquez said, in Spanish, on Twitter.

While Puerto Ricans rejoiced at Rossello's departure, many wanted completely new leadership for the territory, whose residents are US citizens.
They said those with close ties to Rossello are tainted, and a social media hashtag #WandaRenuncia called for her to resign.
Protest rallies started July 13, when the Center for Investigative Journalism released 889 pages of text chats on the encrypted messaging app Telegram.
In the texts, Rossello and 11 other male administration members made fun of women, gays, victims of Hurricane Maria in 2017, journalists and other politicians.
Among those they made homophobic jokes about was San Juan native pop star Ricky Martin.
The messages were widely seen as the painful last straw for people fed up with years of economic stagnation, corruption, government mismanagement and a slow and sloppy recovery effort after Maria, which killed nearly 3,000 people in September 2017.

[PhilStar] After 17 years in hiding, two suspected Abu Sayyaf rebel were arrested recently by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Metro Manila for their alleged role in a 2002 kidnapping case. Anwar Sabarul Mohotoh and Julmain Maomar Timbao were apprehended in Quiapo, Manila, and Culiat, Quezon City on July 12 and 17, respectively.
NBI deputy director Eric Distor said Mohotoh and Timbao were among 13 alleged Abu Sayyaf militants arrested by the NBI since February. The Pasig City regional trial court had issued warrants for the arrest of the suspects for the kidnapping of six Jehovah’s Witness members. The suspects beheaded two of the victims.
Mohotoh posed as a pedicab driver and Timbao opened a food stall in their efforts to hide from authorities by integrating with the community. Mohotoh, believed to be a nephew of slain Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon, had planned to stage bombings in Metro Manila and to extort business establishments, according to NBI counterterrorism division chief Raoul Mangerra.
Timbao, a bomb-making expert, is reportedly a member of the Abu Sayyaf Urban Terrorist Group-Special Operations Unit and a trusted associate of Hapilon. He reportedly accompanied Hapilon’s son and Abu Sayyaf spokesman Abu Sabaya to and from Marawi.
Authorities have yet to establish if Timbao was involved in the 2017 Marawi siege staged by the Maute group.

[Rudaw] Baghdad wants to build a naval base in Basra, the Iraqi Defence Minister said on Saturday in order to improve stability in the economic and security sectors of the southern port city.
Najah al-Shimari visited Basra and was accompanied by Transportation Minister Abdulla Luaibi and a group of military commanders.
The base will take several years to be built, according to Shimari.
Iraq currently has a naval base in Um Qasr, about 65 kilometers south of Basra.
Basra is a city in southern Iraq located on Shatt al-Arab, a river where the Euphrates and Tigris rivers meet.
The province is home to regular mass protests over unemployment, crumbling infrastructure, and a lack of public services, particularly clean water and electricity. Security forces have violently clamped down on Basra demonstrators. Human Rights Watch recently blamed inaction by government officials.
The Transportation Minister praised the base project, saying it would help thrive the economy of Basra and all of Iraq.
"We are proud to announce the biggest navy base in Basra that would help Iraq to develop its security and economy sectors, as well as controlling its water routes," he said in the video.

It's been some years since I've been to San Francisco. It has some very nice areas but nowhere near as nice as, say, Santa Barbara to the south or even parts of San Diego. Space is limited because it's a peninsula so lot sizes are small and yards are small to non-existent even for the nicer houses and the only way you can afford one is if you have an extremely high paying job. The bay and the bridge are beautiful. But then there are the parts of town where it really does smell like pee and you have to watch your step to avoid the turds and the bums sleeping on the sidewalks. It was the panhandlers who convinced me that I should never return. They're all over the place and tend to be aggressive. Besides that, I cannot fathom how the people of that city continue to elect and reelect politicians like Willie Brown, Diane Feinstein, Gavin Newsom and Nancy Pelosi. That was maybe 10 years ago when I went there for a convention. Then I decided the conventions weren't worth it. Dunno what it looks like now. Don't wanna go see.

When confronted with Project Veritas tapes of Google exec commitment to the Democrat party success and willingness to organize an effort to make sure Trump was not re-elected, the Google representative was just short of speechless, claiming the position she took in the beginning of the examination, that she represented a company that was not in the business of influencing and manipulating the public.
It is clear that a good examination of a hearing witness can accomplish a great deal -- Ted Cruz was well prepared, had his evidence in hand and was fluid and effective in his questions. [DAWN] A 14-year-old was sexually assaulted in the limits of the Wah police on Saturday.
The victim’s father told police that his neighbour took his teenage daughter to a house and sexually assaulted her.
The victim underwent a preliminary medical examination at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital that confirmed that she had been assaulted, and the police have started the paperwork but haven't done much else against the nominated suspect.
Separately, a complainant identified as Noman told police that unknown individuals had kidnapped his wife. Two people were maimed while resisting a robbery in Taxila.
One of the victims, Waqar, told the Taxila police that he was on his way home with a friend when three masked individuals on a cycle of violence intercepted them and stole cash, mobile phones and other valuables from them at gunpoint.
He said that when they tried to resist, the robbers attacked them with knives and hit them with the butt of their pistols.
In addition, Attock police arrested 11 people and recovered narcotics from them.
Hazro Deputy Superintendent of Police Ghulam Asghar told the media that the police raided a location in the limits of the Rangoo police and arrested five gamblers. He said they recovered 2.2 kilograms of hashish from one person and 2.5kg of hashish from another. The police also claimed to have recovered 6.75kg of hashish from four others. Cases have been registered against those arrested.

[BREITBART] At least five people were shot, three fatally, Saturday in gun-controlled Baltimore, Maryland.
WJZ reports the first shooting, which proved fatal, occurred around shortly after 1 pm. Officers rushed to the scene and "found a man with gunshot wounds to his body." He was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Fox 5 News reports that two double shootings occurred minutes apart later in the day.
The first of the two occurred at 10:47 pm, leaving a 26-year-old male dead and a second individual injured. The second of double shootings occurred at 10:56 pm, fatally wounding a 19-year-old male. A 17-year-old was "shot in the back" during the shooting as well.
On July 25, 2019, Breitbart News reported eight persons were shot in one night of violence in Baltimore. One of the shooting victims died from his wounds.

[ARABNEWS] India’s decision to send an additional 10,000 paramilitaries to the Kashmire Valley on Saturday has drawn sharp reaction from the troubled region.
There are fears the deployment foreshadows possible violence in the event that article 35A of the constitution, that gives special privileges to the people of Kashmire, is scrapped.
The decision to send additional troops comes days after the visit of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to the region.
The Home Ministry said on Saturday that additional troops were being sent for "counter insurgency" operations and to maintain "law and order."
Media reports suggest there are now around 700,000 troops, including the Indian Army personnel, paramilitary forces and state police, stationed in Kashmire.
"The decision to deploy an additional 10,000 troops has created fear," said Mehbooba Mufti, a former chief minister and the leader of the People’s Democratic Party.
"There is no shortage of security forces in Kashmire. Jammu and Kashmire is a political problem which won’t be solved by military means. The Indian government needs to rethink and overhaul its policy," he added.
"The additional deployment is not a good sign ‐ people are in panic, fearing the scrapping of articles 370 and 35A," said Ali Mohammad Sagar of the National Conference party. "Time and again we have said that dialogue is the only way to solve the problem. The Indian government should listen."
Local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dr. Hina Bhat said: "The deployment of the troops does not indicate that special provisions of the constitution are going to be scrapped. I don’t think you need special forces to contain the reaction, the existing armed forces have enough heft to handle any eventuality.
The region has seen a resurgence of hostilities in recent years, while locals are fearful about the loss of special privileges after India's Supreme Court last year began hearing a case challenging a constitutional provision.
Officials said the movement of troops -- set to rise to 20,000 -- was to relieve exhausted personnel deployed since local civic polls last year and now monitoring an annual Hindu pilgrimage.
"Troops have been working constantly for seven months. Some have to go on leave and some for training outside," Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh told AFP.
"We have requisitioned for 200 companies (20,000 troops), more might arrive."

Military spokesman Don Templonuevo said a rifle, a grenade, an improvised explosive device and bomb materials were recovered from the suspect. He said Hasim is with the group of Furuji Indama based in Basilan and an associate of Hashim Saripa, who was tagged in the bombing of a military checkpoint in Lamitan City on July 31 last year that killed ten people and left nine others injured.
Templonuevo said Hasim was also reportedly involved in the bombing of a terminal in Barangay Guiwan, Zamboanga City on June 23, 2015. Five people were killed and 53 others were injured in that incident.

[ARABNEWS] Sudanese and South Sudanese officials agreed late on Saturday with the leader of an alliance of armed factions operating along their joint border to extend a cease-fire and grant humanitarian access to some areas affected by conflict in Sudan.
Sudan said neighboring South Sudan has been giving refuge to Malik Agar, one of many rebels in Sudan. The two countries share a long and mostly non-existent border, and have a history of supporting gangs on each others’ territories after oil-rich South Sudan became independent in 2011.
Sudan and Agar signed a cease-fire on April 17 covering the Blue Nile and South Kordofan regions, a week after Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir Head of the National Congress Party. He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself president-for-life. He has fallen out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it. He was kicked out of office in 2019. was tossed after 30 years of rule. That agreement was due to expire at the end of July.
Peace talks will continue as rebel factions from Sudan’s Darfur region arrive in Juba on Sunday from Addis Ababa.
Saturday’s talks were attended by Tut Gatluak, South Sudan’s presidential envoy on security; Gen. Mohammed Hamadan Dagalo, deputy chief of Sudan’s ruling Transitional Military Council (TMC); and Agar, head of a loosely affiliated group of armed opposition groups.

Erdogan referenced the photo during his 2017 presidential referendum rallies and said it proved western Europe was "hostile to Islam."
The book’s criticism of NATO stretches to the group’s multilateral foreign policy, which it claims has destroyed Turkey’s defense industry and has made Turkey "dependent on US military aid."
Critics of the text book say school children in Turkey are being force-fed the rhetoric spread by Erdogan and his party at a young age.

I think the tax system encourages rent-seeking via taxing work, not land and this tends to concentrate people in ways that would not occur under capitalism (tax title ownership not wealth creation).

Iraqi forces reportedly thwarted the attack by destroying several ISIS bases with air support, as well as killing and arresting ISIS turbans, according to the al-Basri's statement to Assabah.
Iraq announced victory over ISIS in December 2017, however the group has continued to carry out small-scale attacks in the country, especially in territories disputed between Erbil and Baghdad. ISIS is also still active in the desert Syria-Iraq border area following their defeat in Syria in March of this year.
In an attempt to squash the lingering ISIS threat, the Iraqi government announced the "Will of Victory" operation on July 7. The operation aims to clear the Iraqi desert areas of Anbar, djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... and Salahaddin of ISIS remnants.
The operation is a collaboration between the Baghdad Operations Command, the Federal Police, the Army, intelligence services, the Hashd al-Shaabi paramilitary forces (PMFs), the Air Force and the US-led international anti-ISIS coalition forces.
Al-Basri told Assabah the Falcons Cell arrested 160 ISIS murderous Moslems in Mosul, 40 in Baghdad and another two in Basra in relation to the plot.
The head policeman in the Nineveh province, where Mosul is located, did not confirm the figures in Assabah, but said his forces have arrested hundreds of ISIS fighters recently.
"We are continuously arresting ISIS snuffies in Nineveh, and for the past five months, we have arrested more than 600 ISIS snuffies in Mosul and its surroundings," Hamad Namis told Rudaw English.
Kurdistan Region security forces, known as the Asayish, declined to comment to Rudaw on the reported operation.
In May, a US Defense Department told the US think tank Center for a New American Security that around 10,000 ISIS fighters and supporters remain in Iraq and Syria. Since the loss of their territory, they have resorted to holy warrior tactics including bombings, ambushes, kidnapping, extortion, and arson in Iraq.
