Afghanistan
'The Story Of The Mysterious White 727 That Appeared In Kabul After The Bombing Of Abbey Gate
[WarZone] The evacuation of Kabul is like none other in history. With open-source intelligence tools abound, including daily satellite images, flight tracking, and even a live camera feed overwatching Hamid Karzai International Airport, the average person can keep tabs on this historic event and unprecedented multi-national military operation in their own homes. In the panopticon that is today's internet age, peculiarities stand out. One such surprise was seeing a gleaming-white, but quite geriatric 727-200 appear on Kabul's ragged skyline, landing at the under siege airport amongst the constant flow of C-17s, A400Ms, C-130s, a few modern airliners, and other usual suspects.

It turns out that Niel Steyl, the Captain of a four-decade-old 727-200 that flies for Safe Air Company, an airline and charter outfit based in Kenya, answered an emergency call from the U.S. State Department for immediate airlift assistance after a complex terrorist attack, which started with a suicide bombing, killed 13 U.S. troops, as well as at least 170 Afghans, on August 26th.

As Biden repeats claim that ‘nobody could have known’ Afghan Army would collapse, bombshell transcript from July reveals he pressured Afghan President Ghani to create 'perception' Taliban wasn't winning ‘WHETHER IT'S TRUE OR NOT’
Stray gamma rays deleted Hupeth Henbane6225‘s article, but Skidmark’s Daily Mail link in comments has the gist of it that I’m pasting in here as a placeholder until we can reconstitute the original — if that can be done by someone with more skillz than mine.

— trailing wife for the moderators at 11:17 a.m. ET.

  • Reuters on Tuesday released excerpts from last call between Biden and Ashraf Ghani before the Afghan president fled

  • They talked for about 14 minutes on July 23 as the Taliban advanced rapidly

  • Biden told his counterpart of a perception that the fight against the Taliban was not going well

  • 'There is a need, whether it is true or not ... to project a different picture,' he said

  • Comments are indication Biden knew it was matter of time before Taliban won

  • In months leading up to withdrawal, Biden predicted pullout would go smoothly

  • Neither appeared to realize just how badly things would go

  • Less than four weeks later the Taliban had captured Kabul

#7  Key to all the struggle may be how the CackleJackal is seen and reacts as she emerges from the shadows. If the struggle is between the Clintonista veterans and the puppets of the Obama/ValJar Presidium at the Kalorma Kompound, there might be visible hints of how the VP aligns. Or she may look for more mutual political fratricide before she acts, to render her opposition inside the DNC weaker? Politics on the left is an internal blood-sport of late.

Afghanistan
Might of the Taliban Air Force: Islamists now have 48 aircraft including Black Hawks and A-29 attack planes after US retreat left them with more air power than many NATO nations
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Jihadists have seized several major airbases, in Herat, Khost, Kunduz and Mazar-i-Sharif, and Kabul

  • They have proudly posted pictures of seized $6m Black Hawks and a $14m Hercules transport jet

  • The Taliban have been hunting for pilots from the disbanded Afghan Air Force to fly the vehicles
Have they, indeed? An opportunity for someone...
  • Before Kabul fell, planes and helicopters were disabled by US troops, while others were flown overseas

  • The jihadists have as many as 48 aircraft - it's not clear how many planes or helicopters this breaks down to

  • This is more aircraft than a third of Nato member states, including: Albania, Bosnia, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Slovenia

#2  ...The Blackhawks and the Hercs won't last long at all - they are maintenance-intensive, and though lots of parts may be available on the black market they aren't going to have the trained techs to install those parts. And for that matter, I can almost guarantee that there's not a single Afghan who can do it. The pilots do know how to fly their birds, but not fix 'em. All we've seen is one Blackhawk flying, and a couple of Talibs getting their pics taken in a -130 cockpit, safely on the ground.

The smaller planes - the A-29s - are almost as bad in terms of maintenance. The handful of armed Cessnas might actually be the biggest risk at this point, since they'll stay airborne and theoretically mission capable somewhat longer.

BOTTOM LINE: The Talibs would be better off putting all that hardware up for sale and parts than trying to get it working.

COVID: Jabbed abroad need shot in Israel to be exempt from quarantine
[JPost] - People vaccinated abroad are not going to be exempt from quarantine under the new regulations that come into effect on Friday, the Health Ministry’s spokesperson has clarified to The Jerusalem Post. They will be able to skip isolation only if they had received the third shot in Israel.

The clarification came two days after the ministry announced that beginning Friday individuals considered fully vaccinated under new criteria will not be required to fully isolate when they enter the country — unless they come from red nations (at the moment only Bulgaria, Brazil, Mexico, and Turkey).

...both Israelis and foreigners vaccinated abroad who do arrive here have the option of undergoing a serological test through a facility recognized by the Health Ministry to prove the presence of coronavirus antibodies in their blood.

...Starting from October 1, the Green Pass will be granted to people vaccinated in Israel only if they received the third shot, have had their second shot or recovered within the last six months, or have received one dose of the vaccine after recovering.

Social Security trust funds now projected to run out of money sooner than expected due to Covid, Treasury says
[CNBC] The Social Security trust fund most Americans rely on for their retirement will run out of money in 12 years, one year sooner than expected, according to an annual government report.

The circumstances, which were exacerbated by the Covid pandemic, threaten to shrink retirement payments and increase health-care costs for Americans in old age sooner than expected.

The financial outlook for Social Security and Medicare, two of the nation’s preeminent safety net programs, has deteriorated over the past year.

485,290 were shown to be 65+
not counting how many of the other 129K were on SSD due to Health Reasons also.

Shouldn't losing a 1/2 million SSA payees reduce the drain on the SSA fund, NOT hasten it?

So why is the SSA Fund running out sooner?

Simple Answer:

Olde Tyme Religion
The Eternal Jihad: Understanding the 'Deeper' Story Behind Afghanistan
[Raymond Ibrahim, PJ Media] Although August 15, 2021, will forever live in infamy as the date the Taliban reconquered Afghanistan, for over 13 centuries that date was famous for another event — Constantinople’s defeat of the caliphate, August 15, 718. While these two events separated by exactly 1,303 years are vastly different in nature — not least that in 718 Islam lost, while in 2021 it won — they both confirm one irresistible point that the confident West should take to heart: the tenacity of Islamic jihad — this relentless snake of war that always bides its time, even if by remaining coiled for many centuries, before striking.

Consider the first event. In 718, the Eastern Roman Empire ("Byzantium") repulsed, in dramatic fashion, the Arabs. It was such a spectacular victory, and Muslim losses were so bad, that, for many centuries, the caliphates never dared make another attempt against the walls of Constantinople.

Put differently, for many centuries after the year 718, anyone living in Constantinople would have thought — and would have apparently been justified for thinking — that the Islamic threat, whatever it was elsewhere, was well behind them.

And yet, in the early 1400s — 700 years after the people of Constantinople had thought they’d seen the last of jihad — it was back again besieging them, with the city finally falling to Islam on May 29, 1453.

More significantly, those who besieged and conquered Constantinople in 1453 had little to do with those who besieged it in the eighth century. The latter were Arabs, under the Umayyad caliphate centered in Damascus. Those who actually conquered Constantinople were Turks, whose capital was Adrianople (now Edirne).

On the surface, there is no connection or continuity between those who in the eighth century tried to conquer, and those who in the fifteenth century did conquer, Constantinople — except, of course, for one thing: both were Muslims, and both articulated their hostility for and need to conquer Constantinople in distinctly jihadist terms: like every other infidel, the Christian kingdom had two choices before it: submit to Islam — which it rejected — or fight.

#1  Sword and Scimitar by Ibrahim is a superbly documented description of the eternal push by Islam to conquer the world by any and every means, and especially to defeat the West in modern times. The barbarity is stunning and adds context to those places where the conflict has become savage on both sides.

Afghanistan
In secret texts, U.S. military officials lamented leaving Americans behind in Kabul
BLUF:
[Just The News] "We are f*cking abandoning American citizens," an Army colonel assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division wrote Sunday in frustration in a series of encrypted messages that detailed the failed effort to extricate a group of American citizens, hours before the last U.S. soldiers departed Afghanistan.

The text messages and emails were provided to Just the News by Michael Yon, a former Special Forces soldier and war correspondent who was among the private citizens working with private networks and the military to rescue stranded Americans.

Yon told Just the News that a group of Americans were abandoned at the Kabul airport, pleading for help as military officials told them they were finished with evacuations.

HHS Amends PREP Act Liability Waiver To Cover Only NIH Approved Treatments for COVID-19
[The Last Refuge] There have been some recent reports about hospitals, doctors and health officials now refusing to treat U.S. patients with vitamin D, ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine and another effective therapeutics. A recent notation about HHS changing liability waivers under the PREP Act, might provide some insight.

"Enacted in December 2005, the PREP Act authorizes the Secretary of HHS (Secretary) to issue a declaration (called a PREP Act declaration) that provides immunity from tort liability (except for willful misconduct) for claims of loss caused, arising out of, relating to, or resulting from administration or use of countermeasures to diseases, threats and conditions determined by the Secretary to constitute a present, or credible risk of a future public health emergency to entities and individuals involved in the development, manufacture, testing, distribution, administration, and use of such countermeasures." (link)

A PREP Act declaration is specifically for the purpose of providing immunity from tort liability, and is different from, and not dependent on, other emergency declarations.

A COVID watchdog group recently noted: "It appears that the Prep Act had been amended such that private hospitals and entities were covered in their actions taken with Covid-19 patients and relieved of all liability as long as they were prescribing ’Covered Countermeasures’. ie. NIH approved medications. This may be why hospitals are refusing to use effective COVID treatments like vitamin D, ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, etc"

Shin Bet arrests Palestinians who shot at IDF soldier during May clashes
[IsraelTimes] 31-year-old from a town near Hebron opened fire with another suspect’s gun, hitting troop’s helmet and radio

The Shin Bet security agency announced on Tuesday that it had arrested two Paleostinian suspects over a shooting aimed at Israeli troops during a violent mostly peaceful demonstration near the West Bank city of Hebron during May’s flare-up between Israel and the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip.

On May 12, 31-year-old Muhammad Jabarin, from the town of Si’ir, shot up Israel Defense Forces troops responding to a riot in the area, the Shin Bet said.

A soldier was struck with two bullets. One hit the radio communicator he was carrying, and the other hit his helmet. The soldier lost consciousness as a result of the bullet hitting his helmet, but did not require medical treatment, the agency said.

Jabarin — who previously served 10 months in an Israeli jail over his affiliation with a cell belonging to al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group that planned attacks on Israeli targets — was arrested in coordination with the IDF and the Israel Police, the Shin Bet said in a statement.

In the Shin Bet investigation, it was revealed that the gun used in the attack belonged to 30-year-old Muntasir Muhammed Hussein Jabarin, apparently a relative, who lives in the same town.

Muntasir Jabarin was detained, and the M-16 firearm used in the attack was confiscated along with two magazines, according to the statement.

It was not clear when the arrests took place.

"The Shin Bet, the IDF, and the Israel Police will continue to use all means at their disposal to expose and prosecute those involved in terror activities against the State of Israel and its citizens," the statement read.

The violent mostly peaceful clash near Hebron had come during an 11-day war between Israel and the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terror group in the Gaza Strip.

11 children abducted by presumed Islamist militants in DR Congo
[AlAhram] Eleven children aged nine to 17, including five girls, have been kidnapped by presumed Salafist tough guys in northeastern DR Congo, a local official told AFP on Tuesday.

The rebels, thought to be members of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
-linked Allied Democratic Forces
...the ADF is one of several murderous Moslem groups in NE Congo. In 2019 the U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions on them for the usual reasons. They don't appear to be affiliated with al-Qaeda or Islamic State, though ISIS claims their work from time to time — they just like killing infidels....
(ADF), kidnapped the group in a village in Ituri province on Sunday evening, according to Dieudonne Malangayi, acting chairman of the chiefdom of Walese Vonkutu.

The rebels erupted into the Bundingili area where the village is located, and kidnapped "all the civilians who were there, men, women and kiddies," he told AFP by phone.

More than three kilometres (two miles) away in the bush, the holy warriors 'freed the men, women and some young children,' but kept the 11 other children.

"We don't know what happened" to them, said Malangayi, who is also a representative of civil society.

The ADF, historically a Ugandan Islamist group, have been accused of killing thousands of civilians in Ituri and neighbouring North Kivu province.

No fatalities occurred in the latest raid, but "according to our analysis and the testimony of the freed civilians, they kidnapped these children to train them to become fighters," Malangayi said.

Since May, the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri have been under a state of siege, replacing civilian authorities with army and coppers to fight gangs.

The ADF, which the United States has deemed a terrorist group, is considered the deadliest of scores of armed militias that roam the mineral-rich eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...
On August 18, a contingent of US special operations forces arrived in the area to help the Congolese army in their fight against the ADF, US and Congolese sources said at the time.

In a separate incident in eastern DR Congo, one person was killed and seven were maimed late Monday by "armed bandidos" in Karisimbi, a district in North Kivu province, local mayor Jean-Paul Elongi Wandikia told AFP.

The local hospital said it had admitted eight people with gunshot wounds, one of whom later died.

Karisimbi lies in the Goma area, which is notorious for murders and armed robbery.

Naval warfare of this type had been going on for centuries. The real operational interest is that Rome began the First Punic War without a navy or any naval experience. The Romans would lose a number of fleets in the experience to their ascendancy by the end, just like they would lose a number of legions in the Second Punic War. The Carthaginians were of Phoenician origin, originally a colony, with a long history of participation in this type of naval warfare.

Oklahoma congressman Markwayne Mullin 'threatened embassy staff' in Tajikistan after they refused to help him with a plan to rescue American family from Afghanistan by helicopter
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Rep. Markwayne Mullin asked the US ambassador to Tajikistan, John Mark Pommersheim for help with his Afghan rescue mission

  • He needed assistance getting a large quantity of cash into the country

  • His plan was to use a helicopter in neighboring Afghanistan to rescue an American mother and four children

  • But the embassy refused, according to the Washington Post,
...there will be plenty of stories like this in the near future, I suspect...
    and he threated officials

  • U.S. officials said they did not know of Mullin's location, the paper reported on Tuesday night
It was reportedly his second effort to reach Afghanistan for a private rescue bid, Last week he got as far as Greece but was denied permission to carry on to Kabul by the Pentagon, an administration official said.

Officials have been on high alert for similar missions after an unauthorized trip by Reps. Seth Moulton and Peter Meijer last week, which were condemned as thoughtless publicity stunts at a time when the armed forces were already overstretched at Kabul airport.

As of late Tuesday, U.S. officials told the Washington Post they were unsure of Mullin’s location and his office did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

The last U.S. troops left Afghanistan on Monday just before midnight.

The U.S. military helped evacuate more than 120,000 people, including U.S. citizens, allies and at-risk Afghans from Kabul airport.

The chaotic airlift was augmented by a string of private enterprises, from veterans using their military knowhow to help their Afghan allies reach the airport to charter planes collecting women who feared for their future under the Taliban.

The State Department reissued a Level 4 travel advisory for the country on Monday.

'Do not travel to Afghanistan due to civil unrest, armed conflict, crime, terrorism, kidnapping, and COVID-19,' it said.

Mullin is not a U.S. military veteran, unlike Moulton and Meijer. The Republican was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2012. He has been an outspoken critic of the Biden administration’s exit from Afghanistan.

Mullin has all the conservative talking points down about abortion and the dangers of socialism, but what his mostly rural Oklahoma constituents like about him is how rough he is around the edges, in all the right ways. He has cauliflower ear from his days of wrestling and mixed martial arts. He speaks with a thick rural accent and often stumbles over common phrases, coming across as less city and more country. He’s routinely direct and unpolished — some might even say crass, especially when he appears frustrated, like the time in a committee hearing when he told Democratic Rep. 'This is not a fair fight': Fears for online charter school players' health as they get pounded 58-0 by defending national champions

  • Bishop Sycamore, an online school that is no longer recognized in Ohio, lost to powerhouse IMG Academy (Florida), 58-0, on Sunday in Canton

  • The Bishop Sycamore website contains no information about the online school, its history, its staff, or its student body. It was listed as a school last year

Blast from Improvised Bomb Injures 2 Soldiers in Southern Philippines
[BenarNews] The Philippine army was hunting for three suspected bully boyz after they detonated an improvised bomb that injured two soldiers at a checkpoint on southern Basilan
...Basilan is a rugged, jungle-covered island in the southern Philippines. It is a known stronghold of the Abu Sayyaf, bandidos, and maybe even orcs. Most people with any sense travel with armed escorts...

A brief exchange of gunfire followed the early-morning blast at a roadside checkpoint set up by the 68th Infantry Battalion on the outskirts of Lamitan town, military officials said.

Afghanistan
Exodus: Biblical scene as thousands flee Taliban-held Afghanistan walking miles through the desert across the Pakistani border and into Iran
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Remarkable clip shows thousands desperately fleeing Taliban-held Afghanistan

  • Human caravan pictured moving across Pakistan's desert border and into Iran

  • Migrants who have survived the journey describe a scene of chaos, with elderly people, pregnant women and babies among those making the perilous trip

  • Comes as MPs revealed their concern about a new influx of migrants into Europe

The Afghans journey began in desolate Nimruz, Afghanistan's most sparsely populated province, largely covered by deserts and mountains.

A Qatari aircraft has landed in Kabul carrying a technical team to discuss the resumption of airport operations after the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, according to a source with knowledge of the matter.

Bismillah Mohammadi, Afghanistan's defence minister before the government fell last month, said the Taliban had launched a renewed assault on Panjshir on Tuesday night.

'Last night the Taliban terrorists attacked Panjshir, but were defeated,' Mohammadi tweeted Wednesday, claiming 34 Taliban were killed and 65 wounded.

'Our people should not worry. They retreated with heavy casualties.'

Bangladesh
Bangladesh Court Condemns 6 Militants to Death in Killings of Gay Rights Activists
[BenarNews] A Dhaka court sentenced a half-dozen members of an Islamic turban group to death Tuesday for killing two gay-rights activists with machetes in a Dhaka apartment five years ago.

Some of the defendants smiled after Judge Mojibur Rahman of the Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal convicted and condemned six of the eight accused men to death row for the double-murder of Xulhaz Mannan and Mahbub Rabbi Tonoy in April 2016. Two of the suspects were acquitted.

"Analysis of the evidence proves that the accused decided to assassinate Xulhaz Mannan and Khandaker Mahbub Rabbi Tanmoy alias Tonoy, for holding rallies with homosexuals to establish their rights in society," Rahman said in the verdict, a copy of which BenarNews obtained.

The Grand Turk
Turkey prevents two Muslim Brotherhood members from departure: Sources to Al-Arabiya
[AlAhram] Both members are accused by the Egyptian authorities of criminal masterminding the liquidation of former Egyptian prosecutor-general Hisham Barakat in 2015.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
has prevented two Moslem Brüderbund members from departing its lands, sources told the Saudi-owned al-Arabiya and al-Hadath channels on Tuesday.

The pair, Yehia Mousa and Alaa al-Samahi, is accused by Egyptian authorities of criminal masterminding the liquidation of former Egyptian prosecutor-general Hisham Barakat in 2015.

Mousa and al-Samahi are reportedly in Turkey since the dispersal of the terrorist-designated Moslem Brüderbund sit-ins in Cairo in August 2013. The 45-day-long sit-ins were organised in Rabaa and al-Nahda squares after the ouster of Islamist president Mohammed Morsi in 30 June 2013.

The ban on departure imposed by the Ottoman Turkish authorities on Mousa and al-Samahi will be in place until further notice, the sources added.

The sources also told both Saudi channels that a number of Brotherhood offices and homes in Turkey have been closed and evacuated over the past two weeks upon an order from the Ottoman Turkish authorities.

Egypt and Turkey are preparing for a second round of what they called "exploratory talks" on 7-8 September in Ankara to address bilateral relations between the two countries and a number of regional issues.

Egypt’s relations with Turkey have been strained since the ouster of Morsi, who was backed by the government of then prime minister His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than there are in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really most important...
The exploratory talks come as Turkey attempts to end its differences — that have been impacting its economy — with regional powers over several crises in the region.

The second round of talks comes four months after Egyptian and Ottoman Turkish diplomatic officials concluded two days of political consultations in Cairo on normalizing relations, a round that was described by both sides as "frank and in-depth."

The round addressed bilateral issues as well as a number of regional issues, in particular the situation in Syria and Iraq, and the need to achieve peace and security in the Eastern Mediterranean region.

Ankara, ahead of the first exploratory talks, reportedly requested the Moslem Brüderbund-affiliated channels based in Istanbul to dim their criticism of Egypt's government, as Turkey seeks to repair ties with Cairo. Later, the Ottoman Turkish authorities prevented Egyptian Moslem Brüderbund hosts from appearing on two of these channels.

Fifth Column
Undercover video reveals Antifa high school teacher admitting to indoctrinating students
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] In a Project Veritas report released on Tuesday, they expose Inderkum High School AP government teacher Gabriel Gipe for politically indoctrinating students, and stating that he is turning his students into "revolutionaries."

In an undercover interview with a Project Veritas news hound, Gipe revealed that his intention is to radicalize students with Marxist ideas, giving extra credit for students that go to protests and "community events."

"I have 180 days to turn them [students] into revolutionaries ... Scare the f— out of them," said Gipe in the undercover footage filmed by Project Veritas.

"I post a calendar every week ... I've had students show up for protests, community events, tabling, food distribution, all sorts of things ... When they go, they take pictures, write up a reflection—that's their extra credit," he added.

Gipe revealed that he indexes students' political standings throughout the year, and watches as the class inches further left. "So, they take an ideology quiz and I put [the results] on the [classroom] wall. Every year, they get further and further left ... I'm like, 'These ideologies are considered extreme, right? Extreme times breed extreme ideologies.' Right? There is a reason why Generation Z, these kids, are becoming further and further left," said Gipe.

Gipe said that a student had anonymously stated on an end of year questionnaire that the Antifa
...the armed wing of the Democratic Party...
flag in Gipe's classroom made him uncomfortable.

"I have an Antifa flag on my [classroom] wall and a student complained about that — he said it made him feel uncomfortable. Well, this [Antifa flag] is meant to make fascist
...anybody you disagree with, damn them...
s feel uncomfortable, so if you feel uncomfortable, I don't really know what to tell you. Maybe you shouldn't be aligning with the values that this [Antifa flag] is antithetical to," Gipe said. He went on to say that a violent mostly peaceful overthrow of the US government is a necessary solution for today's society.

"Like, why aren't people just taking up arms? Like why can't we, you know — take up arms against the state? We have historical examples of that happening, and them getting crushed and being deaders for a cause and it's like — okay well, it's slow going because it takes a massive amount of organization," Gipe said.

Gipe also added that a "two-pronged system" is needed to overhaul the government, unlike the Chinese Cultural Revolution.

"You need a two-pronged system, which is exactly what Huey Newton and Fred Hampton [Black Panther Party] understood. You need propaganda of the deed—your economics—and cultural propaganda —as well. You need to retrain the way people think. So, the Cultural Revolution in the 60s was fixing the problem that came about after the economic one," Gipe said.

Afghanistan
US sanctioning Taliban depends on the group's behavior: White House
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Applying US sanctions on Afghanistan’s cash-strapped Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
depends on the group’s behavior, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki
...a valley girl who woke up one morning and found she was spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of State under Obama. A new American success story, under Biden she became spokeswoman for the whole administration, and she was even able to get her sister a job...
said on Tuesday.

Asked about sanctions against the Taliban in a presser, Psaki said: "It depends on what their behavior is. The President clearly outlined that we are going to be watching, as the world will, what the Taliban does."

She said the US will be specifically watching for allowing American citizens, Afghans and US partners to depart Afghanistan, and how the Taliban operates when it relates to the treatment of women and human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
"There’s a great deal of economic leverage, sanctions that are already in place, that we and the global community have. We will assess over the course of the coming days, weeks, and months," Psaki added.

One of the biggest challenges to Taliban rule is the cash crisis in the country.

The Taliban lack access to billions of dollars from their central bank and the International Monetary Fund that would keep the country running during a turbulent shakeup. Those funds are largely controlled by the US and international institutions.

The group that seized control of Afghanistan on August 15 does not currently have
a checking account
institutional structures to receive the money — a sign of the challenges it might confront as it tries to govern an economy that has urbanized and tripled in size since they were last in power two decades ago.

The shortfall could lead to an economic crisis that would only fuel a deeper humanitarian one for the roughly 36 million Afghans expected to stay in the country.

[REGNUM] Over the decade from 1895 to 1904, the main causes of strikes in factories and plants were problems of wages (1,071 cases), working hours (385 cases), order in the workplace (131 cases) and accidental (178). Now an accidental cause, bolstered by issues of wages and working hours, has led to political action.

The strike began to spread to other factories and factories, and Georgy Apollonovich Gapon could no longer stop it, he could only lead the movement. Fearing arrest, he spent the night of January 6-7 at the apartment of a worker in his organization, where he drew up the text of a petition addressed to the emperor.

Yemen's Houthis kill elderly woman in front of her children: Minister

militia have killed an elderly woman in front of her children in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, Muammar al-Eryani, the country’s Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, said on Tuesday.

"Killing of old woman by Iranian-backed Houthi militia before her children in al-Asha, Amran, reflects their brutality, criminality and indifference to blood of Yemenis," the minister said in a tweet accompanied a video of the incident.

Al-Eryani said this brutal act confirms disavowal of Islamic, human, and moral teachings and values, as well as Yemeni traditions that criminalize assaults on women.

"These brutal crimes and violations committed by Houthi militia, including killing, looting of money and property, violation of sanctities an indecent assault, reveal their true face, and reflect part of the tragedy and suffering incurred by millions of civilians in areas under its control," he added.

On Sunday, at least 30 soldiers were killed and 60 were maimed in Iran-backed Houthi strikes on a military base belonging to forces of the Arab Coalition.

Medics said they received seven bodies and treated more than 50 people injured in the attack on al-Anad air base in the government-held southern province of Lahij.

Al-Eryani said the continued silence of international community, including the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
, UN and US envoys, and human rights
...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state...
organizations, "on these heinous crimes, is considered as green light by Houthi militia to commit more crimes and violations that innocent civilians are paying the price for."

For his part, Yemen’s President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi said the Houthi militia will pay the price for their attack on al-Anad airbase in the government-held southern province of Lahij on Sunday morning.

The president said that the terrorist Houthi militia will be held accountable for every crime it commits against Yemenis, and that the people’s battle against the Iranian project in Yemen is continuing.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
'Lock em up,' mayor says anti-looting teams deployed in New Orleans
Damn! A Dem mayor who's not tolerating crime? What's the world coming to?
[NYPOST] The New Orleans Police Department has deployed anti-looting teams throughout the city — which is currently without power — in an attempt to stop criminals from destroying local businesses.
"#NOPD has deployed anti-looting teams across the city in order to protect our citizens’ property as we continue the recovery process," the department announced in a tweet. "Looting will NOT be tolerated and encourage everyone to be good neighbors and say something when you see something."

While videos circulated on social media of some New Orleans businesses appearing to be cleaned out by looters, Mayor LaToya Cantrell emphasized at a presser on Monday that "there is no widespread looting operation going on throughout the city of New Orleans," and vowed to lock up anyone caught in the act.

Cantrell confirmed that the police department has already arrested some individuals.

"My directive has been very clear: Lock ’em up," she said. "We will not tolerate it and we have not tolerated it. So we have apprehended those individuals associated with the looting that we have been able to identify, but there is no widespread looting going on in the city of New Orleans."

She instead chose to highlight the good Samaritans who’ve helped their neighbors since the hurricane passed.

"What we do have that’s widespread are residents who are neighbors, who are understanding and exhibiting the spirit of humility, of empathy, who are clearing up their lawns, who are servicing their community. That’s widespread in the city of New Orleans."

The city suffered widespread damage, including in its iconic French Quarter as a result of the Category 4 hurricane, and the true extent of the damage has yet to be realized.

The storm has claimed the lives of at least two individuals so far.

Uganda says a 2nd suspected suicide bomber in Lokech funeral still hiding
[Garowe] One of the alleged jacket wallahs in the funeral of Major General Paul Lokech alias Lion of Mogadishu, is still on the lam, Uganda said, few days after foiling a suspected terror attack in the northern part of the country, where Lokech was buried.

According to Uganda, the second suspected suicide bomber who targeted mourners at the burial of late Deputy Inspector General of Police, Gen Paul Lokech, at his home in Pader District, is still missing.

A source close to the operation that seized components for an improvised bomb told the Monitor that one of the suicide bombers beat feet from the scene on Friday night and security personnel was on his trail.

The Grand Turk
US ‘very concerned’ about increased Turkish military activity in Syria, Iraq
The set-up for the interview that can be read at the link:
[Rudaw] Joey Hood, United States acting assistant secretary of state for the Middle East, said the US is "very concerned" about increased military activity in both northern Syria and northern Iraq.

"We are very concerned about military activity in northern Syria, northern Iraq," and reports of civilian casualties, he said in an interview with Rudaw on Monday.

In recent weeks, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
has stepped up its attacks in areas of northeast Syria covered by 2019 ceasefires brokered by Washington and Moscow. Several civilians and Kurdish fighters have been killed. Kurdish leadership have called on Russia to step up in its role as monitor of the ceasefire and end Turkey’s attacks and have expressed disappointment that the global coalition against the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group (ISIS) have remained silent.

Ankara believes that Syrian Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are offshoots of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which it has named a terrorist organization. It considers the Syrian Kurdish groups a threat to Turkey’s national security.

Across the border in northern Iraq, Turkey is carrying out months-long operations in northern Duhok province that resulted in several civilian deaths and forced the evacuation of tens of villages. The PKK has its headquarters in the Kurdistan Region's mountains. Turkey has also carried out a massive air raid 200 kilometres deep into Kurdistan Region territory, striking alleged PKK positions in Sulaimani province, and it has carried out Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s in the Shingal area, killing six fighters from a local Yazidi force linked with the PKK, and four health workers.

Hood said the US understands "that Turkey needs to take actions in its own national defence against terrorist activity. So we’re calling on all groups to cease their military activities, their terrorist activities so that we can focus on the real enemy, which is ISIS [ISIS]."

He also expressed hope that intro-Kurdish dialogue to mend fences between rival Kurdish political parties in northeast Syria (Rojava) will help to foster greater cooperation and peace, thereby isolating the PKK.

Rojava’s ruling Kurdish National Unity Parties (PYNK) umbrella group have been in on-and-off talks with the opposition Kurdish National Council (ENKS) since late 2019 to reach an agreement over power sharing.

Afghanistan
Panjshir resistance says retaliated against Taliban attack, killed 7 of its fighters
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The resistance movement against the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
in Panjshir province retaliated against an attack by the group that targeted one of the province's outposts, which led to the death of seven Taliban fighters, a member of the resistance movement said on Tuesday.

"We pushed back against an attack by the Taliban on an outpost last night and seven or eight Taliban fighters were killed and several others maimed," Afghan news outlet ToloNews cited Fahim Dashti, a member of the resistance as saying.

Two fighters from the resistance were maimed.

After the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan on August 15, Panjshir province in the country’s northwest remained an unconquered area. It has become a stronghold for resistance, mobilizing under Ahmad Massoud, the 32-year-old son of the slain leader Ahmad Shah Massoud, who vowed to resist the Taliban.

The Taliban had claimed on Saturday that it entered Panjshir without facing any resistance.

Massoud's supporters rejected the Taliban's claim of entering Panjshir. "There is no fight in Panjshir and no one has entered the province," said Mohammad Almas Zahid, head of the Resistance® Front delegation.

The Taliban's Samangani said that the door remained open for negotiations with Massoud's supporters and on Saturday a delegation of Ahmad Massoud met with a Taliban delegation in Kabul, ToloNews reported.

The Taliban had announced two weeks ago that hundreds of their fighters were heading to Panjshir to control the province.

-Great Cultural Revolution
CDC goes woke, demands Americans use 'mealy-mouthed obfuscatory inclusive language'
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] The CDC has released new, inclusive language that they want the American public to use in place of lots of already extant words that we typically use to describe individuals or groups. Essentially, in place of single words that are used, the CDC wants us to put the word "person" first, before the descriptor, except in the areas where they believe that group identity supersedes individual identity, as in race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation.

There are many examples of this, in many categories, such as "Corrections & Detentions," where words for "prisoner," "criminal," and others are to be replaced with "People/persons who are incarcerated or detained," or "Persons in pre-trial or with charge." In the category of "Disability," terms like "Differently abled" should be replaced with "People with disabilities/a disability." "Drug-users/addicts/drug abusers," etc., should be instead "Persons who use drugs/people who inject drugs."

The idea behind this is clear even without reading the CDC's preamble: the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention want Americans to see and think about each other as people first, before they consider the person's condition. The CDC's intention is to humanize us, and seem to believe that their function is to tell us how to speak, and how to think, in order to do that.

However,
women persons who identify as female are made to be loved, not understood...
it is poorly designed, and will only be replaced by new missives in very short time.

The CDC has as its mission to protect public health, "to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the US." But they also write that they have the goal of "Promoting healthy and safe behaviors, communities and environment." It must be under this aspect of their purview that they have suggested that Americans change their language.
Defund the language police!

#1  The whole idea is to constantly change the language. You can tell at a glance who is and is not in your tribe. Changing it makes everyone stay on their toes and you can see who pays attention and who doesn't. Moreover it's a useful form of mind control, getting people used to the idea that external forces may control what they think and say.

#2  WTF has CDC have to do with language? Is it becoming the Center for Decontamination of Colloquialisms?

Implicit in this is the assertion that the American population is largely mentally ill, just because they say some things that are 'hurtful' to some whiny attention wh0res. Intrusive, fascist gaslighting by federal agencies, ordered by Gawd knows who and why.

Gay Afghan man beaten, raped by Taliban in Kabul
If you rape a guy, and you're not a girl, wouldn't that make you... I'm so confused.

in its new government, is proving time and time again that their words are empty promises. One man gay man, who in an interview with ITV went by the pseudonym Hanan for his protection, is one of the Taliban's LGBTQ victims.

Hanan said that he had been speaking with a man on social media for three weeks before agreeing to meet. That man reportedly promised a safe way for Hanan to get out of Afghanistan amidst the Taliban takeover.

Who arrived instead of the man was two Taliban members, who proceeded to brutally attack Hanan.

"Two people raped him, they beat him, and then demanded his father's number so they could tell him his son was gay," according to ITV.

Speaking with ITV, Afghan LGBTQ activist Artemis Akbary said that the possibility of death under the Taliban rule for LGBTQ people is greater than ever before.

"They are trying to tell the world 'we are changed and we don't have problems with women's rights or human rights' - but they are lying," said Akbary. "The Taliban hasn't changed, because their ideology hasn't change."

Qatar says recognizing Taliban not a priority, warns against isolating group
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Qatar

They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
’s Foreign Minister said on Tuesday recognizing the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
’s government was not a priority but warned against isolating the group currently controlling Afghanistan.

No country has recognized the Taliban as a government of Afghanistan after their seizure of the country on August 15.

The White House has denied last week any chance of rushing to recognize the legitimacy of the Taliban government by the US or its allies. The last of the US troops and officials have left the country on Monday, ending over 20 years of American presence in Afghanistan.

Qatar’s Foreign Minister said: "We believe that without engagement we cannot reach...real progress on the security front or on the socioeconomic front."

"If we are starting to put conditions and stopping this engagement, we are going to leave a vacuum, and the question is, who is going to fill this vacuum?," Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani said.

He spoke about Doha’s recent talks with the Taliban: "During our talks with the Taliban, there was no positive or negative response," adding that he urged the group to cooperate in the fight against Terrorism.

"We stressed the importance of cooperation to combat terrorism... and we stressed the importance of the Taliban to cooperate in this field."

The Taliban front man Zabihullah Mujahid told Rooters on Saturday that the group will announce a complete cabinet within a week, and it will include not just ministers but leaders as well.

Check Out the United States Army's New Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Plane
[National Interest] The U.S. Army Airborne Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare System aircraft, ARES, just made its first flight. The Army hopes that the multi-engine jet will offer a more capable intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capability compared to older Army Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconisance (ISR) aircraft.
The aircraft in the graphic is not the ARES Platform but rather a Contracted Shorts-360 introduced at Balad and FOB Spiecher (Al Sahra Air Base VIC Tikrit, Iraq) in 2009 as an Army Research Lab (ARL) proof of concept. Constant Hawk conducted Persistence Surveillance platform flying counter-IED missions over Baghdad, Iraq. The Constant Hawk project was extended with AFG missioning flying out of Kandahar utilizing C-12 platforms. The old 360's went home to Milwaukee following the end of the conflict in Iraq.
The ARES platform is based on the Bombardier 6000/6500 airplanes, business jets originally designed for luxury flight, but that offer the right mix of range and payload capacity to serve in a specialized intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) role for the United States Army.

The ARES airplane is serving as a technology demonstrator for the Army’s High Accuracy Detection and Exploitation System (HADES) program, which the Army hopes can mesh "capabilities from the Army’s existing ISR fleet with capacity to add payloads, sensors and increase standoff ranges."

And in an ISR role, the aircraft would succeed. Boasting brand-new Rolls-Royce engines and a nearly 7,600-mile range, the jet can cruise at over 40,000 feet and has a flight endurance of over fourteen hours in the ARES configuration. "Flight operations above 40,000 feet enhance aircraft survivability and line-of-sight," according to a recent statement, and helped make "ARES and HADES key Sensor to Shooter (S2S) network enablers, the Army’s top modernization priority."

Marine who blasted Afghan withdrawal forced to undergo mental health check
[NYPOST] The US Marine Corps officer who was relieved of his command over a battalion for chastising his bosses over the botched Afghan withdrawal has revealed that he was ordered to undergo a mental health screening.

"When I went into work this morning, I was ordered by my commanding officer to go to the Hospital for a mental health screening," Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller wrote on Facebook on Monday.

"I was evaluated by the mental health specialists and then sent on my way. My CO is a standup guy, and I understand why he did it," he added.

A day earlier, the officer said in a YouTube video that he was sticking by his guns and resigning his commission — walking away from a $2 million pension after 17 years of service.

Scheller explained that despite being relieved of his duties, he was still an active Marine — until he completes his resignation, which he said was sparked in part by a former commander who wrote on LinkedIn that he should resign "’if he was honorable."

#3  ...If you'd like to see just how 'caring' the US military can be when it comes to people who have embarrassed them, read the late COL Jack Broughton's Going Downtown.

Short version - one of Broughton's F-105 pilots let things get away from him, and accidentally strafed a Soviet freighter in Haiphong Harbor. He came straight to Broughton, who knew the kid's career was toast if anybody found out, so he destroyed the gun camera footage. Somebody snitched, and Broughton and the pilot were not only formally charged, but they were given 'mental health evaluations' lasting several days in order to get them to confess the error of their ways.

They didn't, and at the court martial the USAF got slapped even harder when the jury (which included then-COL Chuck Yeager) found Broughton not guilty on all counts but one: destruction of Government property. They fined him $20 for the cost of the film and gave him an LOR.

It was the end of Broughton's career, but read his description of his mental health evaluation. Had I seen that before I enlisted, I may well never have done so.

#4  His security clearance has very likely been suspended, ensuring he'll never work for a government contractor or the government. Holding public office may also be a challenge. If the shrink's report states that he "could be in danger of hurting himself or suicide due to PTSD"..... well, we'll just have to leave it at that.

The intent here is to ruin the young man and set an example for others within the ranks.

Marine LT Col Stuart Scheller released a new video from an abandon school bus on his Linked in Page. This was all started after he called for senior leadership responsible for the failure in the Kabul evacuations to be held accountable.

There is little known about what the former Marine Commander's next steps are, so we don't want to speculate on anything at this time. Some quotes that stuck out from his latest video include, "All I asked for was the accountability of my senior leaders"

"When I am done with what I am about to do, you all are going to need the jobs and the security."

"Follow me and we will bring the whole F***** system down."

Ceasefire agreement in Syria's Daraa enters into force tomorrow
[NPASYRIA] On Tuesday, governmental military parties and dignitaries and committees in the city of Daraa, southern Syria, agreed to carry out a Russian-sponsored ceasefire, along with implementing the terms of a previous agreement that included settlements and displacement.

This afternoon, two meetings were held between the notables of Daraa governorate, Russian forces and representatives of the government forces in the city center of Daraa.

The first meeting included notables in Daraa and Horan in general, with the commander of the Russian forces in Syria and representatives of the Eighth Brigade of the Fifth Corps, without the presence of any official body representing the government.

"The meeting resulted in the Russian side’s agreement to reduce the number of checkpoints and to implement an immediate ceasefire and the rest of the steps of the agreement with ease," one of the notables said.

As for the second meeting, it brought together the commander of the Russian forces, the Syrian Minister of Defense, a number of government forces officers with representatives of the Eighth Brigade, dignitaries of Daraa governorate, and the Central Negotiating Committee of Daraa al-Balad.

A source, who attended the meeting and did not want to be named, told North Press that it was agreed on an immediate ceasefire and the reduction of the number of government checkpoints to three instead of the nine.

He added that the three checkpoints in the neighborhoods of Daraa al-Balad, Tariq al-Sadd and the camps will be shared between the Military Security of the government forces and the Eighth Brigade of the Russian-backed Fifth Corps.

The agreement included handing over weapons, making settlements, and displacing those who are not covered by the settlements.

The source pointed out that the terms will be carried out tomorrow, on Wednesday, where a settlement center will be opened, the Military Police of the government forces will intervene, and the Syrian and Russian flags will be raised in Daraa al-Balad.

The Syrian government forces and the Iranian-backed factions have been besieging the Daraa al-Balad and other neighborhoods and closing all roads leading to them for more than two month.

Long Beach is now using a sedative to detain people during certain police calls
[LBPOST] In a first for Long Beach, fire department paramedics have recently begun helping police subdue people they believe are potentially violent or combative, sometimes by administering a powerful sedative to the person being detained.

Over the past four months, LBFD paramedics have used the drug midazolam on more than three dozen people as part of a new pilot program meant to bolster coordination between the police and fire department, city officials recently announced.

Nearly 1,000 police and fire personnel, including more than 60 dispatchers, have received training on how to recognize the symptoms of a person exhibiting what city officials call “agitated delirium” as well as coordinate a combined response, according to an Aug. 20 statement from the city.

'A few dozen' French still in Afghanistan
[AlAhram] La Belle France withdrew its troops from Afghanistan at the end of 2014

La Belle France says ``a few dozen'' Frenchies remain in Afghanistan, including some who wanted to be evacuated but could not as the last flight left Kabul.

Defense Ministry front man Herve Grandjean said in a news conference Tuesday that ``all efforts are being done'' to allow those left behind to get ``a safe and orderly evacuation.''

He said ``that is the goal of the talks under way within the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...

power.''

In addition, La Belle France was not able to evacuate a ``few dozen'' former Afghan employees of the French army who asked for the protection of the country, he said.

La Belle France will do ``the maximum'' in the coming days and weeks to help them getting out of Afghanistan, Grandjean said.

La Belle France's evacuation flights from Aug. 17 to Aug. 27 have evacuated about 2,600 Afghans at risk, including 110 former employees of the French army and their families.

Self-proclaimed members of 'Units of the Martyr Wadi Hadad' toss IED during activities at Gaza border — 4th night of riots
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Wadi Haddad, also spelt Wadih Haddad (1927 - 28 March 1978), also known as Abu Hani, was a Palestinian leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine 's armed wing. He was responsible for organizing several civilian airplane hijackings in support of the Palestinian cause in the 1960s and 1970s.

Hundreds of Paleostinians demonstrated on the border between the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.
Strip and Israel on Tuesday for a fourth straight night of riots.

Gazooks from so-called "night confusion units" set tires alight and rolled them toward soldiers stationed along the frontier, and lobbed improvised explosives, in a repeat of violence seen along the border the previous three nights.

As Israeli troops responded, the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",-run health ministry in Gaza said that one Paleostinian was moderately maimed from Israel Defense Forces live fire.

There was no immediate comment from the IDF and no reports of injuries on the Israeli side.

The "night confusion units" behind the border riots do not officially tie themselves to Hamas, though their activities could not take place without the approval of the terror group that rules the Strip.

The groups, which are affiliated with various terror factions, have said that the nightly riots on the border will continue until at least Thursday, starting at around 8 p.m. each evening.

The latest violence on the border came as Israel allowed dozens of truckloads of construction materials into the Strip on Tuesday.

Bassam Ghabin, director of the Paleostinian side of the Kerem Shalom cargo crossing, said that 30 truckloads of cement, 120 trucks of gravel and 15 trucks of steel entered Gaza. He said that the materials began entering on Monday, and that the crossing was operating almost at the same capacity as before May’s 11-day war.

An Israeli security official, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
under policy guidelines, confirmed that building materials had entered Gaza. He had no specific details, but said that they came under previously announced government decisions.

Biden touts 'extraordinary success' in Afghanistan, then blames Trump
The scare quotes should be around success...
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] Just one day after the last of US troops left Afghanistan, President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. The very model of probity, except maybe for abandoning Afghanistan...
addressed the nation on the situation within Afghanistan including his plans to remove the remaining Americans from the country, taking a moment to slam former President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
in the process.

Biden applauded his administration's success in ending "the longest war in American history," adding that "we completed one of the biggest airlifts in history, with more than 120,000 people evacuated to safety."

"That number is more than double what most experts thought were possible," Biden continued. "Only the United States had the capacity and the will and the ability to do it, and we did it today."

In regards to the August 31 withdrawal deadline, Biden stated that the "assumption was that more than 300,000 Afghan national security forces that we had trained over the past two decades, and equipped, would be a strong adversary in their civil wars with the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
"That assumption, that the Afghan government would be able to hold on for a period of time beyond the military drawdown turned out not to be accurate," Biden added.
Biden claimed that the military was ready for all events that may occur, even the case of the Afghan military and government folding, and that he had planned for all contingencies.

He stated that his administration reached out to Americans within Afghanistan 19 times since March with warnings about the situation in the country and about evacuations.

Of the 120,000 people evacuated from Afghanistan, Biden said around 5,500 were Americans. He assured the nation that they were able to get 90 percent of Americans out that wanted to leave, noting that many Americans who stayed are dual citizens of both countries and have deep roots in the war-torn nation.

"For those remaining Americans, there is no deadline. We remain committed to get them out if they want to come out," said Biden. "We will make arrangements to get them out if they so choose."

He assured the public that troops and officials were working around the clock to get Americans out of the country, noting that sometimes Americans were walked by troops to the airport.

Biden addressed the timeline of the evacuations, blaming it in part on a deal signed by former President Donald Trump that looked to get troops out of Afghanistan by May 1.

"Let me be clear. Leaving August 31 is not due to an arbitrary deadline. It was designed to save American lives," Biden said.

"My predecessor, the former president, signed an agreement with the Taliban to remove US troops by May 1, just months after I was inaugurated," said Biden.

Biden noted that the agreement did not include a requirement for the Taliban to work out a "cooperative government arrangement" but authorized the release of "5,000 prisoners," many of whom were affiliated with the Taliban and aided in taking over the country.

Biden added that when he came into office, the Taliban was at its largest military strength since 2001.

Biden said he was left with a simple decision from the previous administration. Either leave by May 1, under the previous agreement that stated the Taliban wouldn't attack US forces if they left, or stay in Afghanistan and "commit another tens of thousands more troops."

"I take responsibility for the decision," said Biden slamming the critics of his withdrawal efforts.

"There still would have been a rush to the airport. A breakdown in confidence and control of the government." said Biden, referring to if these evacuations had been held in June or July. He left without taking questions.

#1  One consolation is, he was left holding a turd in his hands and everybody will always remember just that image of him.

Let's be honest, there was always going to be a pullout. It was going to be messy in some way. But Biden has made it worse by bringing Afghans home, many of whom will turn out to be ISIS and Paki plants. If this clusterfcuk doesn't see a Republican in office by 2024, something resulting from it shall.

#3  Let's be honest, there was always going to be a pullout.

The Pentagon generals fought President Trump’s orders on the subject for four years, when they could have been organizing the thing, yes. And then President Biden dramatically rejected those plans while the generals fought him, with the result that today embassy staff are trying to stop self-organized private rescue attempts that need not have been necessary.

Is rural America becoming a new Confederacy?
[The Week] What if the polarization of American politics and rise of right-wing populism in the Republican Party are a function of rural parts of the country becoming more like the historic South?

That is the surprising suggestion of Will Wilkinson in a fruitfully provocative Substack post. Wilkinson is something of an expert on the subject, having done important empirical work on the role of population density in driving political polarization and populist backlash. His argument, in sum: Polarization and populism are caused by urbanization and its economic, social, and political consequences, with cities growing demographically and economically, and becoming more progressive, over time, while depopulating rural areas succumb to economic decline and zero-sum, reactionary politics.
“Lookit those dumb, dead-end hicks who can’t get anything right!” Also, the writer is ignoring the recent mass movement from big, Progressive cities and states to the previously declining and depopulating Conservative ones in response to Covid lockdowns, work-from-home orders, and corporate flight. His next opus should be a doozy.
In his latest post, Wilkinson merely extends this research a few steps by observing both an increasing cultural homogenization across different rural areas, each of which used to be more distinctive, and the growing prevalence of Confederate flags far outside of the historic South, in the rural areas of northern states and states that didn't even exist at the time of the Civil War.

So far, these are merely anecdotes, but if verified by more rigorous research they could point toward something real and important: Not just growing ideological unification across the rural areas of the country, but the drift of that ideology in the direction of the Confederacy. The point isn't that the American countryside increasingly wants to avenge the honor of Southern slaveowners for their loss in a war that ended over a century and a half ago. Rather, the people who live in these areas share with the historic South an intense distrust of the federal government, veneration of local law enforcement, resentment of city folk, suspicion of minorities and foreigners, hostility to technologically driven change, and a keen sensitivity to cultural slights.

Afghanistan
Military Dogs Weren't Left Behind in Afghanistan, Pentagon Says
[People] "The U.S. military did not leave any dogs in cages at Hamid Maybe I'll join the Taliban Karzai
...A product, and probably the sole product, of the Southern Alliance...
International Airport" a front man tells PEOPLE, noting that "our military working dogs were safely evacuated"

The Department of Defense is knocking down reports that a number of dogs working with the military were allegedly left behind as the U.S. finalized its exit from Afghanistan this week.

A Pentagon front man tells PEOPLE these stories are "erroneous" and that "our military working dogs were safely evacuated."

Photos showing dogs in cages did not depict "dogs under the care of the U.S. military," the front man said.

The denial comes after American Humane — a nonprofit that promotes animal welfare and safety — issued a statement Monday claiming the U.S. was "leaving behind brave U.S. military contract working dogs to be tortured and killed at the hand of our enemies."

A front man for the group did not respond to a call and email seeking further comment.

The claim led to fury among some social media users and a spate of headlines — which the government says are wrong as they regard military dogs specifically.

Defense front man Eric Pahon tells PEOPLE that troops also did not leave any dogs in cages at the Kabul airport amid the evacuation operation.

"The U.S. priority mission was the evacuation of U.S. citizens, SIV [participants in a special visa program] and vulnerable Afghans," Pahon says. "However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
to correct erroneous reports, the U.S. military did not leave any dogs in cages at Hamid Karzai International Airport, to include the reported 'military working dogs.' "

He continued: "Photos circulating online were animals under the care of the Kabul Small Animal Rescue, not dogs under the care of the U.S. military. Despite an ongoing complicated and dangerous retrograde [withdrawal] mission, U.S. forces went to great lengths to assist the Kabul Small Animal Rescue as much as possible."

In addition to the military dogs whom the Pentagon says were evacuated, there are other groups of pets in need in Afghanistan, which may be fueling the conflicting reports.

Animal rescues and advocates have said they need to get their cats and dogs out of the country after the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
takeover.

Military contractors and others working with the U.S. military also may have their own animals helping them, but they would not have been under the purview of American forces.

A separate source echoed the Pentagon's official explanation, telling PEOPLE that "this one is unfolding minute by minute, but the one connecting thread is that the dogs are not U.S. military dogs."

"Many of the dogs [with Kabul Small Animal Rescue] had worked with contractors," this source says. "The dogs were not given to local families because the Taliban bans pet ownership."

The source notes that, culturally, dogs are seen by many in Afghanistan as "unclean."

According to a Monday update on the website of the SPCAI, the animals under the care of Kabul Small Animal Rescue include 130 dogs, some of whom were pets of Americans living in Afghanistan, whose whereabouts are not entirely clear.

According to the update, staff with the Kabul Small Animal Rescue were informed on Monday that most of their dogs "had to be released into the airport" in Kabul as it was evacuated — "turning once rescued shelter dogs into homeless strays," the statement read.

1. Putting dogs on planes, and not people, bad optics.
2. Flying plane loads of hajjis to another mooslim land and not being able to land, offload, or transfer dogs, bad optics.
3. Having haggis refuse evacuation flight because of barking dogs, bad optics.
4. Fotos of dogs were left behind in cages, bad optics, denial required.
5. 90% of the dogs that wanted to get out, got out.
6. Rabies vaccination records were lost or unavailable.
7. Chinese Embassy volunteered to coordinate successful canine repatriation, or something.

Africa Horn
Somalia records two pirate attacks along Indian Ocean, lowest in 27 years
[Garowe] There have been at least two pirate attacks along the coastline of Somalia in 2021, it has now emerged, in what could raise safety concerns within the Horn of Africa nation, which has also been struggling with terrorism in recent years.

In the past decade, Somalia's coastline was one of the most unstable, due to persistent pirate attacks. However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
a collaboration with a number of partners saw the incidents drastically reduce, showcasing the extent of cooperation.

Days ahead of a reduced Indian Ocean high-risk piracy area [HRA] announcement, the motor vessel [MV] Anatolia was attacked by pirates off Somalia.

Data obtained shows the EU NavFor Operation Atalanta joint operations centre in Rota, Spain, was alerted to the then ongoing incident on 13 August. The alert had it a skiff carrying at least four gunnies approached the Anatolia, opening fire with small arms and rocket-propelled grenades [RPGs]. One of the RPGs caused damage in the vicinity of the bridge.

"After an exchange of fire lasting almost two hours between the assailants and privately contracted armed security personnel on board, the attackers abandoned their intentions and left. There were no injuries on board Anatolia, which continued its transit arriving safely at Mogadishu port," according to an EU NavFor Atalanta statement.

Last month, the IMB said piracy and armed robbery incidents are at the lowest level in 27 years, but risks remain to seafarers.
The reduced Indian Ocean high HRA announcement was made on 20 August by the International Maritime Bureau [IMB], a division of the International Chamber of Commerce. It is slated to become active on 1 September, next Wednesday, following a reduction in piracy off Somalia and the Horn of Africa.

"The HRA was created at the height of the Somali piracy threat in 2010 to show ship owners, operators and seafarers where pirates operate and where extra vigilance was required to avoid attacks.

"Subsequent updates to the HRA reflected the changing nature of threats in the region as well as more severe security threats, including piracy off West Africa, necessitating a change in how industry assesses such dangers to shipping," an IMB statement said.

In response to the Anatolia attack, only the second this year off the Horn of Africa, EU NavFor Atalanta pointed out the decline in piracy and robbery at sea off Somalia adding the incident demonstrated these crimes are not eradicated.

The attack on Anatolia was monitored by EU NavFor Atalanta JOC — Maritime Security Centre Horn of Africa [MSCHOA], sharing information with UK Maritime Trade Operations [UKMTO], from the moment the incident was reported. EU NavFor Atalanta was ready to assist with assets and capabilities in coordination with UKMTO and the Combined Maritime Force [CMF].

The Operation noted — gratefully — "no direct intervention was necessary".

Last month, the IMB said piracy and armed robbery incidents are at the lowest level in 27 years, but risks remain to seafarers.

IMB’s latest global piracy report detailed 68 incidents of piracy and armed robbery against ships — the lowest total since 1994 — down from 98 incidents in the same period the previous year. In the first six months of 2021, IMB’s Piracy Reporting Centre reported 61 vessels boarded, four attempted attacks, two vessels fired on and one hijacked.

Despite the overall decline in reported incidents, violence against crews continues with 50 crew kidnapped, three threatened and taken hostage, two assaulted, one injured and one killed in the first half of 2021.

The Gulf of Guinea remains particularly dangerous for seafarers with 32% of all reported incidents taking place in the region, according to the IMB. The region accounted for all 50 kidnapped crew and the single crew fatality.

Iraq
Six Iraqis on death row executed, three for 'terrorism': medic
[Rudaw] Six Iraqis sentenced to death, three for "terrorism", were hanged Monday in a prison in southern Iraq, a medical source told AFP.

The source said the hangings took place in Nasiriyah prison, where death row prisoners are held.

Those not executed for "terrorism" were sentenced over "criminal cases".
"They just needed killin'"
Rights group Amnesia Amnesty International says it recorded more than 45 executions in Iraq last year, including many of people accused of belonging to the Islamic State

group.

A 2005 law carries the death penalty
for anyone convicted of "terrorism," which can include membership of an krazed killer group even if they are not convicted of any specific acts.

Rights groups have warned that executions were being used for political reasons.

Since Baghdad officially declared victory over IS in 2017, Iraqi courts have sentenced hundreds to death for crimes perpetrated by the jihadists who had set up a "caliphate" in territory seized in Iraq and Syria in 2014.

Only a small proportion of the sentences have been carried out, as they must be approved by the president.

Barham Saleh, who has held the post since 2018, is known to be personally against capital punishment.

According to an AFP tally, at least 14 people sentenced for "terrorism" have been executed in Iraq since the start of the year, all at the Nasiriyah prison.

Earlier this month, a man who murdered a senior Iraqi official in broad daylight was sentenced to death amid revulsion over the government's failure to halt a wave of liquidations.

In January, an official from Iraq's presidency told AFP more than 340 execution orders "for terrorism or criminal acts" were ready to be carried out.

Another presidency official said that all the orders were signed after 2014, most of them under ex-president Fuad Massum and at a time when IS occupied a third of the country.

Rights groups accuse Iraq's justice system of corruption, carrying out rushed trials on circumstantial evidence and failing to allow the accused a proper defence.

UN human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
experts in November urged Baghdad to halt all "mass executions".

ISIS attacks Kirkuk village, killing livestock, elsewhere cops tie up 19 turbans
[Rudaw] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group (ISIS) fighters attacked a village in southwest Kirkuk early on Tuesday, killing livestock, according to villagers. ISIS grabbed credit for the attack, saying they have targeted the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF, Hashd al-Shaabi in Arabic).

At around 1:30 am, ISIS fighters attacked Dogshman village in the Rashad sub-district of southern Kirkuk province. Villagers told Rudaw they locked themselves in their homes while the bully boyz burned houses and vehicles, and killed cows, sheep, and goats.

Hussein Zedan lost his father during an uptick of ISIS activity two years ago in the same area. Today, he lost almost all his property. "The losses are huge," he told Rudaw.

"The fighters came to the village. We could not leave our houses as we were stuck. They were walking around the houses and wanted us to come out, but we did not," he said. When the villagers did not come out of their homes, the bully boyz attacked their livestock and properties.

At least 25 cows and seven sheep and goats were killed, and five cars and tractors and two houses were burned. Villagers said ISIS fighters used rocket-propelled grenades (RPG).

ISIS grabbed credit for the attack on its propaganda channel on Telegram, saying they had targeted members of Sunni brigades of the PMF. It claimed the vehicles and houses they set on fire belonged to PMF members.

Villager Khatab Mustafa said they want the Iraqi government to provide them with security, hoping that ISIS will leave the village alone if it is under the protection of government forces. "If such attacks continue, the village will be evacuated," he said.

"There should be night vision cameras, people should be armed, and security checkpoints should be increased," he said.

There is a security checkpoint near the village, but their forces arrived too late to stop the ISIS Death Eaters.

Kirkuk province lies within disputed areas claimed by both the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government. There is a security gap between Iraqi and Kurdish forces in these areas that ISIS exploits as a safe haven from which to launch attacks on civilian and military targets. ISIS has carried out 134 attacks in these areas so far this year.

Baghdad and Erbil are working to close this gap. This summer, they established joint coordination centres in the disputed provinces, including Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
to improve their cooperation and they are in talks to create joint brigades.

Iraqi forces daily carry out operations against ISIS. On Tuesday, security forces arrested 19 terror suspects in Kirkuk, according to a military statement.

Fox News outdrew CNN and MSNBC combined among both total day and primetime viewers while snatching 94 of the top 100 most-watched cable news telecasts of the month. But Fox News didn’t only dominate liberal CNN and MSNBC, it finished as the most-watched network in all of basic cable.

Fox News averaged 2.5 million viewers during the primetime hours of 8-11 p.m. ET, compared to 1.2 million for MSNBC and only 819,000 for CNN. Fox News’ primetime lineup averaged 394,000 viewers among the key demographic of adults age 25-54, while CNN settled for only 191,000 and MSNBC managed only 163,000 average viewers among the crucial category.

Turkey trains first female officers to join Somalia's police
[Garowe] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
completed training of female Somali coppers in one of the inaugural projects that would see more women join the SPF which is dominated by men in the patriarchal society.

On Saturday, 49 female coppers graduated in a ceremony that was held in Turkey Saturday. Police Commander General Abdi Hassan Mohammed Hijar officiated the function which was attended by a number of Ottoman Turkish police officials.

Somalia has been trying to boost gender mainstreaming within the public sector, something which is also manifested in the ongoing elections. Already, a number of female senators have been elected in local polls.

The officers drawn from the Haram'ad police unit graduated from a Ottoman Turkish training academy. Previously, Haramcad was predominantly male officers, who are given sophisticated training for the sake of stabilizing the fragile country.

General Hijar said the group was the last group to have completed the advanced training. Turkey has been keen to improve both the country's police force and the army, which are undergoing major rebuilding.

"This training is part of a special operations training. This batch of female officers is the first to complete this training," said Hijar, who has been in charge of the police for the past few years.

Haram'ad police have been heavily involved in the country's politics during the four-year presidency of Mohammed Abdullahi Farmajo, who used the elite forces to suppress his critics, hijack the elections in the Federal States and the independent media.

Besides the Harama’ad police unit, Turkey also trains the Gorgor Battalion of the Somali National National Army [SNA]. Turkey also operates a military training academy in Mogadishu which trains army recruits.

According to the police boss, the female officers are expected to return home soon. Turkey usually supports them even long after their graduation due to their existing relationship with Mogadishu, which has flourished in recent months.

Taliban arrests top Afghan cleric who spoke out against insurgents
[NYPOST] The Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
has reportedly arrested a top holy man who had called on the country to resist the murderous Moslem group’s insurgency — sharing a photo of him blindfolded.Maulvi Mohammad Sardar Zadran, the former head of the National Council of Religious Scholars of Afghanistan, was photographed looking forlorn as he sat on the ground with his hands clasped together and a strip of brown material covering his eyes.

The clip was released by the Taliban as proof that it had arrested the outspoken holy man, according to the Pajhwok Afghan News agency.

Zadran had been a religious adviser to runaway President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, ex-president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. When Biden abandoned the country left with a helicopter, four cars, and part of the national treasury...
and had called on Afghans to resist the Taliban as they rose to take back the country, The Times of London said.

His son Samiullah told RFE/RL that his father was forced from his home in Khost and driven away by Taliban fighters on Sunday. There was no immediate word on where he was being held or if he was safe.

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] FBI reveals that attacks on black and Asian people have all increased
We watch the news every day. Who the hell's been attacking black folk? Jussie Smollett?
  • Hate crimes against Asian communities in the U.S. increased by 70 percent last year compared with the number of similar incidents in 2019, the FBI said

  • Anti-black crimes have also jumped nearly 40 percent last year compared with 2019 statistics

  • Hate attacks targeting white people rose to 773, an increase of about 16 percent

  • President Joe Biden issued the Covid-19 Hate Crimes Act in April to prevent the surge in anti-Asian American crimes in 2020
That clearly wasn’t effective. President Biden didn’t issue it, though — the Democrat-controlled Congress passed the bill into law in the usual way. He just signed it. But it isn’t fair to expect English reporters from the Mail to understand obscure American law-making practices...

-Lurid Crime Tales-
81-year-old man shot on NYC in overnight gun violence, cops say
[NYPOST] Three people were killed and five others maimed by gunfire in six separate shootings overnight in the Big Apple, including an 81-year-old man blasted in the foot on the Upper West Side, authorities said. The elderly victim was injured and a 45-year-old man struck in the chest when gunfire erupted on West 105th Street near Manhattan Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Monday, police said.

Both victims were taken to Mount Sinai Morningside, where they are expected to survive.

It was not immediately clear whether the shooter intended to strike the older man.

Early Tuesday morning, an unidentified man was found unconscious around 4:30 a.m. on Walton Avenue near East 172nd Street in Mount Eden in the Bronx, cops said.

EMS workers tending to the victim determined he suffered gunshot wounds to the torso, police said.

He was rushed to BronxCare Health System, where he was pronounced dead.
