[PJ Media - Matt Margolis] As the year comes to a close, it's once again time to start thinking about taxes. Tax day is still months away, but for many people who aren't very good at bookkeeping, tax season can be a stressful time of making sure you've got all the necessary documentation for the income you've earned and deductions you can take.
The tax code is, of course, incredibly complex, and many rely on professionals to prepare their taxes for them. Experts have a much better idea of the things you can claim to reduce your tax burden, and they can alert you to items you must declare as income if you don't want to risk getting audited.
While you obviously wouldn't be expected to know everything - or even most - of what the tax code says, there is something the IRS expects people to declare as income that is so absurd, you won't believe it.
[Zero Hedge] - As one headline after another breaks that the new Omicron Covid variant looks more and more like the common cold, businesses still have very serious amounts of money at risk thanks to overbearing "Covid protocols" being forced down everyone's throat (and up their noses).
The latest example is Disney's ESPN, which has as much as $400 million in college football playoff advertising at risk hanging in the balance of a series of Covid tests, which will ultimately determine which College Football Bowl Games will be played and which will be cancelled.
The Hawaii, Military and Fenway bowls have all been cancelled already, Bloomberg reported this week, as a result of surging Covid cases. Playoff organizers are also taking steps to determine whether or not the national championship game can be played this year. 1) I believe most contracts stipulate that $ for ad revenue changes hands only if commercials are shown, but ESPN has already incurred major costs before the bowl games take place; sending out the camera crews & such. 2) Even though this is happening to a woke company, this illustrates a small part of the massive economic damage these lockdown type measures inflict on the economy as a whole.

My hearts pumping peanut butter for them. I've got as much interest in Bowl games as a year round Miami resident foes in snowboarding
"A simple 3 step plan to turn new years eve into the rodeo of 1000 goats and send hotels and hospitals alike into a tailspin.
Step 1: Mandate covid tests on top of vaccine proof for all large gatherings and for flying into Puerto Rico
Step 2: Panic everyone into wild over-testing
Step 3: Completely run out of not only rapid tests but even the actual reagents for PCR such that you literally cannot get a covid test on PR for love or money
This 3 step plan has literally inundated the emergency rooms with healthy people trying to get PCR tests so they can go to concerts, clubs, and big hotel parties for NYE.
Pretty much every event over 100 people is demanding it.
In flawless, on point irony, the ER’s are struggling to provide the actual emergency care for which they are intended because of this and we’re having, for the first time all covid, an actual crisis at the hospitals, not because of disease, but because people want to hit the el san juan hotel party or club 787.
it’s going to be the perfect lose/lose scenario as these parties are going to get gutted because guests cannot enter, the ER’s are on tilt, and who knows how the incoming tourists or locals coming home are supposed to get a test within 48 hours of landing (per new rules).
Apparently, trips and reservations are getting cancelled wholesale over it.
Probably 1/3 of the restaurants in san juan are closed because staff got a positive covid test and the rest cannot get cleared with negatives as no tests are available.
So the health minister responds by cutting restaurant capacity to 50%. so now it’s bedlam everywhere.
Rep. Dan Meuser is demanding answers from DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Acting ICE Director Tae Johnson after flights of migrants arrived in Scranton
'Pennsylvanians deserve to know about these decisions affecting their community, and I expect immediate answers,' Meuser wrote in his letter
Meuser said at least 130 migrants were sent to Scranton, while another former Pennsylvania lawmaker claimed there were 180
Lawmakers say they were not informed before the flights arrived in Scranton, Pennsylvania – the town where Biden was born and lived until he was 10

Time for the standees. I have a very low opinion of the Chinese military. They do have a loud mouth but I see them pathetically weak in many ways. India however is a tiger they should let alone. China will always try the back door. Bio weapons and such. Certainly China has built and mass produced many things but their quality control is an absolute joke. Every day this is quite evident.

In Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising, one of those F-15 borne ASAT missiles was dusted off and used. They actually got a petite female pilot to fly the mission to get the last bit of altitude before launch.
Today they'd figure out how to launch an SM-6 from some sort of high-altitude / high-performance platform.

NEW YORK (AP) — A lawsuit by an American who claims Prince Andrew sexually abused her when she was 17 might have to be thrown out because she no longer lives in the U.S., lawyers for the Prince said in a court filing Tuesday.
Attorneys Andrew Brettler and Melissa Lerner wrote that they recently discovered Virginia Giuffre has lived in Australia all but two of the last 19 years and cannot claim she’s a resident of Colorado, where she hasn’t lived since at least 2019.
In an August lawsuit, Virginia Giuffre claimed that the prince abused her on multiple occasions in 2001.
The prince’s lawyers in October asked Judge Lewis A. Kaplan to throw out the lawsuit, saying the prince "never sexually abused or assaulted" Giuffre and they believed she sued Andrew "to achieve another payday at his expense and at the expense of those closest to him." The lawyers acknowledged that Giuffre may well be a victim of sexual abuse by financier Jeffrey Epstein, who killed himself in 2019 while awaiting a sex trafficking trial.
Last month, Kaplan said a trial in Giuffre’s lawsuit against the prince could occur between September and December 2022.

Luckily Jeffrey Epstein cannot be called to testify or bring lawsuit, as he too is no longer in the US.
Similar to the Clinton 'home brew' servers, the Seth Rich murder, Feinstein's Chinese driver, Ashli Babbitt shooting, Fang Fang, Benghazi, the recent Kabul drone strike, and dozens more, this entire matter is memory hole bound.
Not even well oiled 'Deep States' can escape the occasional domestic chore. The bins will need to be emptied and the Hoover must be run down the halls from time to time.
[Vegas Sun] A federal judge refused to dismiss an indictment charging four alleged leaders of the far-right Proud Boys with conspiring to attack the U.S. Capitol to stop Congress from certifying President Joe Biden's electoral victory.
U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly on Tuesday rejected defense attorneys' arguments that the four men — Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs, Zachary Rehl and Charles Donohoe — are charged with conduct that is protected by the First Amendment right to free speech.
Kelly said the defendants had many nonviolent ways to express their opinions about the 2020 presidential election.
"Defendants are not, as they argue, charged with anything like burning flags, wearing black armbands, or participating in mere sit-ins or protests," Kelly wrote in his 43-page ruling. "Moreover, even if the charged conduct had some expressive aspect, it lost whatever First Amendment protection it may have had."
Nordean, Biggs, Rehl and Donohoe were indicted in March on charges including conspiracy and obstructing an official proceeding. All four of them remain jailed while they await a trial scheduled for May.
Defense lawyers also argued that the obstruction charge doesn't apply to their clients' cases because Congress’ certification of the Electoral College vote was not an "official proceeding." Kelly disagreed.
Earlier this month, another judge in the District of Columbia's federal court upheld prosecutors’ use of the same obstruction charge in a separate case against two riot defendants.
The case against Nordean, Biggs, Rehl and Donohoe is a focus of the Justice Department's sprawling investigation of the Jan. 6 insurrection. More than three dozen people charged in the Capitol siege have been identified by federal authorities as Proud Boys leaders, members or associates, including at least 16 defendants charged with conspiracy.

Much smaller scale, but a carbon copy of the The Tiananmen Square protests, known as the June Fourth 1989 Incident. Get several thousand protestors or rally attendees congregated, then insert government agent provocateurs.
There was simply no choice. Poland's mounted cavalry would have invaded and rode on to Berlin. The Blitzkrieg was inevitable.

Reading Bryan Burrough's Public Enemies: The True Story Of America's Greatest Crime Wave. He opens with FDR's inauguration and notes there were tanks in the DC streets and machine gun emplacements atop gummint buildings because of (the threat of) Depression era unrest. A bit later, he casually mentions future president Harry Truman's role as a judge in the corrupt Kansas City Pendergast machine before he moved up to the senate.

The point of T.S.I.A.F. is to combat The Narrative with facts, logic and sarcasm. By exposing the absurdity of our demented, decadent, corrupt and moronic crapulosities, an Alternate Narrative is created.
Examples:
- the scurrilous big lie of "Systemic Racism" are displaced with the facts of opportunistic race-baiting and looting
- the absurd big lies of "soothing, grandfatherly good ol' Joe Biden the Unifier" are displaced with the facts of Magoo The Big Guy, PervOTUS and UberGropersniffer
- the ridiculous big lies of "White Supremacist Insurrectionists" are displaced with the facts of Anarcho-Tyranny imposed by the Ferret's American Stasi and Soros's Commie DA's
- the preposterous big lies of the Great Russia Hoax are displaced with the facts of the FB-eye's circle jerk with Steele-Glenn Simpson-NYT/CNN/WaPo, the FISA crimes, the Mueller idiocy, the Clinesmith forgery farce, and the voluminous evidence that the man they ludicrously called a Russian agent was actually the most anti-Russian president since Reagan's first term.
Yes, you're right: T.S.I.A.F. is not as thrilling as kinet!c act!on. May not change any election outcome. Won't shut up the liars at American Pravda or restore constitutional governance or rein in the Stasi.
But it's absolutely necessary to combat their Big Lies. If they aren't repeatedly, relentlessly mocked, if truth is not stated again and again and again, then you get Faucism and Schifferbrains-level idiocy, not just wrt WuFlu and Russia Hoax but EVERYWHERE.

Re dangerous truths: The truth of the Biden Family's corruption -- in great detail, with forensic evidence supported by sworn affidavits from their business partner Bobulinski -- this was so dangerous to our Kakocracy that the entire media establishment (with the exception of t. Carlson and the NYPost) colluded to spike the story in October 2000.
So yeah, typing truth into forums is the only way to keep it from being completely extinguished today.
[Democrat & Chronicle] Gary Beikirch, the U.S. Army medic whose heroism one April morning in Vietnam made him one of Rochester's greatest military heroes of the 20th century, died Dec. 26 at age 74. The cause was cancer.
Sgt. Beikirch in April 1970 was 22 years old and serving as chief medical officer for a Special Forces team and more than 2,000 villagers in Kon Tum province in south Vietnam. At 3 a.m. April 1, North Vietnamese forces launched a major attack against Camp Dak Seang, spraying rockets and gunfire across the fortified compound.
Sgt. Beikirch and his 15-year-old bodyguard, a Vietnamese boy named Dao, dashed repeatedly into the line of fire to help those who were wounded — despite their own wounds, which were significant.
Sgt. Beikirch was hit twice, the second time a devastating blow that left shrapnel in his spine. "I remember feeling like I'd gotten kicked by a horse," he said.
Dao carried him to the medical tent for aid, and then the two returned to the field. Dao was killed protecting Sgt. Beikirch from a rocket attack; Sgt. Beikirch was struck again, this time a gunshot to the back. Finally he was evacuated by helicopter.
"Not many people know what it’s like to be under fire and then hear someone yell out, ‘medic,’ except those who are medics," he said. "And they don’t know what takes place inside of you that causes you to get up and go when everyone else is hiding."
Sgt. Beikirch received the Congressional Medal of Honor in a ceremony at the White House Oct. 15, 1973. By then he'd been out of service for two years and learned to walk again through extensive rehabilitation.
[Army Times] The nation’s highest award for valor — the Medal of Honor — may be given to five soldiers after President Joe Biden’s signed the 2021 defense policy bill. And four from the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu, known also as the Black Hawk Down incident, could see their awards upgraded to the Distinguished Service Cross.
In the bill, Congress formally waived time limits on presenting the awards — a final administrative step necessary for Biden to present them.
Of the five potential Medal of Honor recipients, three fought in the Korean War, and two fought in the Vietnam War. The list of potential upgrades includes:
[FoxNews] Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo accused the Biden administration of "actively preventing the effective distribution of monoclonal antibody treatments" in the United States, according to a Tuesday letter addressed to Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra.
The Biden administration recently paused shipments of COVID-19 antibody treatments manufactured by major drug companies Regeneron and Eli Lilly amid claims that such treatments are not effective against the omicron variant of the coronavirus.
The federal government continues to supply Sotrovimab, a monoclonal antibody from the company Glaxosmithkline, which reportedly does work against omicron.

MSM coverage of these events conveniently leaves out the fact that the recently discontinued monoclonal antibody treatments are still effective against non-Omicron variant illnesses but that in a given patient, it is not possible to determine which variant they have in time to choose which of several alternatives might work out best for a particular patient. The efficacy of the outmoded treatments is not zero, but is less than that of sotrovimab for the Omicron variant. In addition, as has happened before during the epidemic, a new variant has the tendency to displace a previous variant. Probably in 30 days the US will have >90% of all cases caused by the Omicron variant.

[Breitbart] Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow sat down with historian and professor Victor Davis Hanson at the latter’s home in Selma, CA, for a wide-ranging interview examining how America is being undermined by a modern globalist aristocracy. Hanson drew from analyses in his latest book, The Dying Citizen: How Progressive Elites, Tribalism, and Globalization Are Destroying the Idea of America.
Hanson warned of lessening governmental accountability to citizens via the dissolution of American citizenship. The concept of citizenship, he added, is an essential component of Western civilization.
"The citizen is very rare," he said. "Civilization is very old — seven thousand years old — but for nearly the first 4,500 years, there were no citizens. They were slaves, or subjects, or tribes, or residents."
He continued, "[Citizenship is] the idea that you would have people who live in a confined space and they would govern themselves. They would elect their officials They would audit them. They would set their budgets, their expenditures. They would decide when to go to war, when to have peace. That was a lot of responsibility."
He explained, "The idea of citizenship is integrated with property rights, he remarked. "Most importantly, [citizenship] seems to have started in the 8th century B.C. on the principal of inheritance, that you planted olive trees or vines on binds on your small plot, and you ... own them — the state didn’t own them — and you had the right to pass them on without interference from the state. Like the American Constitution, the protection of property was very important."
He observed how architects of the globalist enterprise cultivate ethnic and racial agitation to create perceptions of grievance and victimhood among targeted demographic groups. He noted that upward mobility rooted in meritocracy threatens the leftist paradigm of a zero-sum struggle between haves and have-nots.

Citizenship is fundamental to our civilization, yes. Right to life liberty and property; rule of law; responsibility to ourselves, our children, our elders, our neighbors to preserve the greatness of our civilization, with pride in things greater than us and a humble disdain for our own weak efforts as individuals.
Ironically, the source of our modern understanding of citizenship is the civitas, the city, and it's those large and deep blue US cities that are nurturing all the forces of hatred of both our civilization and modern conceptions of citizenship.

Politics is what happens when a group assembles & works out who has to take the orders, who gets to give the orders, and who has to pay for the entire shebang. If the group fails to form a consensus they break up into smaller groups &/or go war with each other. The notion of citizenship was a political arrangement worked out long ago.

[IsraelTimes] Latakia fires doused hours after alleged Israeli attack; in visit to air force base, Gantz urges countries in region to stop letting Tehran stream weapons through their territory
Defense Minister Benny Gantz warned Iran ...The nation is noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence... on Tuesday that Israel will not allow it to spread "game-changing" weaponry to its proxies in the region, hours after the Israeli military reportedly struck arms shipped from Iran in Syria’s Latakia port.
"I call on all countries of the region to stop Iran’s harm to their illusory sovereignty and to their citizens. Israel will not allow Iran to stream game-changing weapons to its proxies and to threaten our citizens," he said.
Israel has not officially acknowledged conducting the strike earlier this morning. Syria says the attack was carried out by Israeli warplanes over the Mediterranean. The bombardment caused massive secondary explosions at the port, possibly as the Israeli missiles detonated munitions. Fires at the scene lasted for long hours.
Gantz made the comments during a visit to the Ramat David Airbase, which is home to a number of F-16 fighter jet squadrons. He said the air force and other armed branches were "completing a year of significant operational activity."
"This year too we have acted against threats on various fronts, all of them fueled by Iran, which is the greatest enemy to my nation and to the residents of the Middle East," Gantz said.
The defense minister called on Syria to stop Iran from operating within its borders, saying the IDF would continue to act as needed to thwart Tehran’s activities.
Firefighters eventually contained a blaze that raged for hours in Syria’s port, officials said.
Syrian officials and state media said the attack caused more damage and the earth-shattering kaboom could be heard miles away. Syrian air defenses were activated when the missiles started to fall on the terminal at around 3:20 am, state media reported.
A military official said Israeli missiles were fired from the sea, west of Latakia, hitting the terminal and igniting fires that caused major damage. The unidentified official quoted by the official state news agency SANA said firefighters battled the flames after the attack.
There were no immediate reports of casualties from the missile attack, according to SANA.
Syria’s state-run al-Ikhbariyah TV ran footage showing flames and smoke rising from the terminal. It later aired images of broken glass and other damage at residential buildings and cars parked in the area near the port. It said a nearby hospital was also impacted.
Maj. Mohannad Jafaar, head of the Latakia fire department, said 12 fire trucks worked for hours to contain the fire. He said the containers that were hit held spare auto parts and oil, but there were no casualties. Footage from the area showed large black plumes of smoke over the port as various fires burned around the terminal.
It was the second alleged Israeli strike in Latakia this month.
Port manager Amjad Suleiman told al-Ikhbariyah the damage was much larger than that caused by the December 7 attack and required a major effort to move intact containers away from the flames.
At the time of the December 7 attack, the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition war monitoring group, said the Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... hit arms shipments destined for Iran-backed fighters.
While the IDF declined to comment then as well, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Aviv Kohavi later boasted of success in disrupting weapons shipments to Israel’s enemies in the region in a year-end statement issued by the military on Tuesday.
"The increase in the scope of operations over the past year has led to a significant disruption of the movement of weapons into the various arenas by our enemies," he said. The statement did not elaborate.
In its year-end assessment, the Israeli military confirmed carrying out strikes on dozens of targets in Syria in what it called "the campaign between the wars." Three targets also were struck in Lebanon Hezbollahstan ...The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years. It produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. That's three statements. Only the first is subjective.... , it said. It gave no further details.
It also reported about 100 operations by the Israeli Navy, including dozens of "special operations." It did not elaborate, but the navy operates in both the Mediterranean and Red seas. Some past strikes have targeted the main airport in the Syrian capital of Damascus.
Pictures released by SANA showed firefighters training hoses on stacks of blazing containers that lit up the night sky.
The news agency said the containers were carrying “engine oil and spare parts for cars and other vehicles.”
But Britain-based war monitor, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, says the cargo was “arms and munitions,” which had detonated in “powerful explosions that were felt across the city of Latakia and its suburbs.”
Syria’s state-run al-Ikhbariyah TV ran footage showing flames and smoke rising from the terminal. It reported damage to nearby residential buildings, a hospital, shops and some tourist sites near the port.
[IsraelTimes] Russia is signaling its unhappiness over a strike attributed to Israel on Syria’s Latakia port overnight.
While steering clear of confirming Israel carried out the strike, Moscow says that such attacks are "very worrying" for Syria after a decade of brutal conflict.
"We don’t think that any situations of this kind contribute to the stability of the Middle East or the situation in Syria," says Russia’s deputy representative at the United Nations ...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks... , Dmitry Polyanskiy.
"We never conceal that we do not approve of such behavior," he told news hounds, adding that Russia would address concerns bilaterally with Israel.
The strike hit a container yard thought to house Iranian weapons shipments, in a part of Syria where Russia maintains its main naval base in the region.
On Monday, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid spoke to his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, though its not known if Syria and Iran ...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979... were among the topics discussed.
The call came immediately after Lavrov spoke to Syrian foreign minister Faysal Mekdad.
[Breitbart] Three Islamic federations have agreed to sign the French government’s proposed "Charter of Principles of Islam of La Belle France" after resisting signing the document for at least a year.
The Ottoman Turkish federations of the Coordination Committee of Ottoman TurkishMoslems of La Belle France (CCMTF), Millî Görus, and the Faith and Practice movement released a joint statement this week saying they would sign the document, which aims to get the groups to renounce political Islam and end foreign interference in French Moslem life.
The groups agreed to sign the charter after French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced earlier in the month that the French Council of Moslem Worship (CFCM) was "dead" following a breakdown of dialogue between the CFCM and the French government, BFMTV reports.
"Today the CFCM, that is to say, the representation of consular Islam — Moroccans, Algerians — is dead. The CFCM, for the public authorities, for the French Republic, no longer exists, is no longer the interlocutor of the Republic," Darmanin said.
Last November the CFCM had been given two weeks by the government of President Emmanuel Macron to agree to sign the values charter, with the French president telling the groups, "There will be those who sign and those who will not sign. We’ll learn from it. Either you are with the Republic or you are not with the Republic."
While several groups eventually agreed to sign the charter, the CCMTF, Millî Görus and Faith and Practice all stated in February that they would reject signing and outlined their own proposed amendments and issues with the document, such as rejecting terms like "Islam of La Belle France."
"The different religious conceptions that would arise from it would then be considered as different religions. Thus, the concept of ’Islam of La Belle France’, inducing a distinction from Islam at the national level, would not be a valid denomination," the three groups said at the time.
The groups had also questioned the term "political Islam" saying, "Some definitions have been put forward, but they are extremely problematic, sometimes criminalising religious practices that are part of the common foundation of Islam and which are guaranteed by the Constitution."
The values charter is part of President Macron’s long term goals to reform Islam in La Belle France, something President Macron has spoken about since at least 2018 when he vowed to reform major Islamic bodies as well as the training of imams in La Belle France.
Following the beheading of teacher Samuel Paty last year by a Chechen refugee, the French government has moved to crack down on radical mosques, closing several mosques over the last year and investigating dozens of others.

[RBC] The Supreme Court continued to consider the claim of the Prosecutor General's Office on the liquidation of the international organization "Memorial" (recognized as a foreign agent).
In the debate of the parties, the representative of the Prosecutor General's Office Alexei Zhafyarov said that the organization poses a public threat, "speculates on the topic of political repression, distorts the historical memory, including the Great Patriotic War, and creates a false image of the USSR as a terrorist state," the RBC correspondent reports.
In addition, the prosecution believes that Memorial, under the guise of restoring historical memory, is trying to "rehabilitate Nazi criminals and traitors to their homeland."
Zhafyarov clarified that “someone pays for all this”.
The international organization "Memorial" was included in the register of NPO-foreign agents in 2016. It specializes in research on political repression in the USSR. On November 11, the General Prosecutor's Office applied to the Supreme Court with a demand to liquidate Memorial.
In addition, the Moscow prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit to liquidate the interregional public organization "Human Rights Center" Memorial "(recognized as an NGO-foreign agent). She is accused of violating the law on foreign agents for the lack of marking in the publication of materials.
After filing the lawsuit, Memorial said that they saw no legal basis for liquidating the organization, and called the actions of the Prosecutor General's Office "a political decision to destroy society."
Experts warn of the risk of massive bankruptcies in the road industry
At a hearing in the Moscow City Court on December 23, a representative of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office said that Memorial's materials could cause a “depression” among those who read them. “The mental health of citizens may suffer.
These materials can cause, among other things, a depressive state of citizens, "- said the prosecutor, answering a question from attorney Maria Eismont about the "destructive" consequences of distributing Memorial materials without marking that the center is considered a foreign agent.
When asked whether the prosecutor's office had established such facts, the representative of the department replied that data on such cases were not attached to the case file. In addition, the prosecutor said that Memorial's materials could have a negative impact on the "spiritual and moral development of minors."
After the lawyers asked to clarify this argument, the plaintiff's representative stated that the children could not critically assess the information disseminated by the Memorial Human Rights Center.
Memorial's trial caused a great public outcry. Many public figures, scientists, politicians in Russia and abroad spoke out in defense of the organization. Says the BBC:
Russia's Supreme Court has ordered the closure of International Memorial, Russia's oldest human rights group.
Memorial worked to recover the memory of the millions of innocent people executed, imprisoned or persecuted in the Soviet era.
Formally it has been "liquidated" for failing to mark a number of social media posts with its official status as a "foreign agent".
That designation was given in 2016 for receiving funding from abroad.
But in court, the prosecutor labelled Memorial a "public threat", accusing the group of being in the pay of the West to focus attention on Soviet crimes instead of highlighting a "glorious past".
Founded in 1989, Memorial became a symbol of a country opening up to the world - and to itself - as Russia began examining the darkest chapters of its past. Its closure is a stark symbol of how the country has turned back in on itself under President Vladimir Putin, rejecting criticism - even of history - as a hostile act.
[KavkazUzel] The decision of the Supreme Court of Russia to liquidate International Memorial * is unjust and politically motivated, it will be appealed, the organization's lawyers said. The organization is looking for formats for further work, said Yan Rachinsky, head of the board of the International Memorial.
As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, today the Supreme Court of Russia held a debate of the parties on the case of the liquidation of the "International Memorial". At them, representatives of the organization and the defense called on the court not to satisfy the claim of the prosecutor's office, but the court decided to liquidate the organization and its regional divisions. The judge, having voiced the decision, did not read out the reasoning. Those present in the hall greeted the decision with shouts of "Shame!"
The Supreme Court of Russia notified International Memorial that the Prosecutor General's Office filed a lawsuit to liquidate it due to the lack of marking on the status of a foreign agent, on November 11. The lawsuit began on November 25. On December 14, nine volumes of materials were heard at the court session . The court agreed to attach to the case the signatures under the electronic petition in support of Memorials, but denied other petitions to the defense.
Immediately after the session, first in the hall and then on the threshold of the building of the Supreme Court, the lawyers of International Memorial were surrounded by journalists, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent who was present at the court reports.
Henry Reznik said that the decision was unjust and would certainly be appealed. He considers the reasons for such a court decision to be political motives, the fear of representatives of the authorities of active participation in public life of independent non-governmental organizations.
"We see that independent media are announced as foreign agents. We see dubious criminal cases. Everything that is independent, including those that have independent funding, arouses the authorities' suspicion. Now we are at a stage in development. But I'm sure we'll get through it. We will come to the understanding that human rights are above the state," said Henry Reznik.
Another lawyer representing International Memorial, Mikhail Biryukov, in turn, said that such a court decision was conditioned by the political situation and was intended to "search for the enemy."
"After the ultimatum on NATO and the search for an external enemy, the authorities need to find an internal enemy to enhance the effect. And, unfortunately, they found him in the person of Memorial," he said.
Lawyer Tatyana Glushkova said that the motivation part should be transferred to the defense within five days, according to the law. “Most likely, this will happen after the New Year holidays, and then we will file a cassation appeal,” she said.
Today's court decision was the most likely, said Yan Rachinsky , chairman of the board of International Memorial.
"There were two possible solutions. And what happened was more likely. Since the courts have forgotten how to argue with the prosecutor's office, especially with the general," Yan Rachinsky told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
He also noted that the organization will now think about the format of further work.
"We will think about what to do to continue our activities. Memorial is not only International Memorial, it is a multitude of organizations, and in one way or another the work will continue," stressed Yan Rachinsky.
As a reminder, on November 23, the Moscow City Court began considering a claim to liquidate the Memorial Human Rights Center. The Moscow prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit in court, stating that the organization justifies extremism and terrorism. The last meeting took place on 23 December. Tomorrow, December 29, the process will continue.
On November 12, the Change.Org website published a petition in support of the Memorial Human Rights Center. As of 21:05 Moscow time on December 28, 138,783 people signed it . Who else is in defense of Memorial, and what persecution he was subjected to earlier, is described in the updated information of the Caucasian Knot."
The public outcry caused by the claim of the Prosecutor General's Office to liquidate this organization eloquently testifies to the value and significance of the work of the International Memorial, lawyer Tatyana Glushkova pointed out to the court during the trial. The court is considering the case formally, without comparing the scale of the violations imputed to the organization with the significance of its work, said human rights activist Oleg Orlov after the first meeting. The prosecutor's office chose the tactics of trivializing the process, avoiding talking about its repressiveness and absurdity, said lawyer Grigory Vaypan.
Earlier, human rights activists, lawyers and journalists indicated that the closure of Memorials would seriously damage the protection of human rights in the North Caucasus. Dunja Mijatovic, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, has twice opposed the liquidation of Memorials.
[NYPOST] Team Biden and Democrats erred in rejecting Republicans’ offer of a $600 billion COVID relief plan in February and passing their own $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan instead, laments Bloomberg Opinion’s Matthew Yglesias. With bipartisan COVID-relief and infrastructure bills and possible bipartisan science funding, Biden "could claim to have delivered" on his vow to unite the country — and maybe even gotten Sen. Joe Manchin ...Dem senator-for-life from West Virginia. Manchin is one of the approximately one (okay, two) Dem senators who exhibits more integrity than Jello, often even representing his constituents... to back his Build Back Better plan. Instead, Dems "set aside the possibility of bipartisanship in pursuit of more far-reaching legislation," despite their narrow majority. That now looks "like foolishness. The current slog is more reflective of the underlying political reality, and Biden and his party would almost certainly be better off today had they acknowledged this reality from the start."

[MarketWatch] John Madden, the Hall of Fame coach turned broadcaster whose exuberant calls combined with simple explanations provided a weekly soundtrack to NFL games for three decades, died Tuesday morning, the league said. He was 85.
The NFL said he died unexpectedly and did not detail a cause.
Madden gained fame in a decade-long stint as the coach of the renegade Oakland Raiders, making it to seven AFC title games and winning the Super Bowl following the 1976 season. He compiled a 103-32-7 regular-season record, and his .759 winning percentage is the best among NFL coaches with more than 100 games.
But it was his work after prematurely retiring as coach at age 42 that made Madden truly a household name. He educated a football nation with his use of the telestrator on broadcasts; entertained millions with his interjections of “Boom!” and “Doink!” throughout games; was an omnipresent pitchman selling restaurants, hardware stores and beer; became the face of “Madden NFL Football,” one of the most successful sports video games of all-time; and was a best-selling author.
Most of all, he was the preeminent television sports analyst for most of his three decades calling games, winning an unprecedented 16 Emmy Awards for outstanding sports analyst/personality, and covering 11 Super Bowls for four networks from 1979-2009.
“People always ask, are you a coach or a broadcaster or a video game guy?” he said when was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. “I’m a coach, always been a coach.”
He started his broadcasting career at CBS after leaving coaching in great part because of his fear of flying. He and Pat Summerall became the network’s top announcing duo. Madden then helped give Fox credibility as a major network when he moved there in 1994, and went on to call prime-time games at ABC and NBC before retiring following Pittsburgh’s thrilling 27-23 win over Arizona in the 2009 Super Bowl.

/\ I fully dread expect the funeral to be a Democratic Party extravaganza. Gladiatorial fights, sacrificial virgins, a draped coffin on a chariot pulled by slaves ...the full Roman spectacle.
[BREITBART] Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Mama Grizzly Palin ... the babe libs love to hate ... (R) told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview last week that "it’s too late to get through" to President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. You're a lyin' dog-faced pony soldier. Of course Corn Pop is a real person.... Breitbart News editor-in-chief Alex Marlow sat down with Palin last week at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in Phoenix, Arizona, where he asked the former Alaska governor what advice she would give to Biden today.
"Back in the day, you debated Joe Biden, and you won. Do you ever think back on that day?" Marlow asked. "He’s president now, and I know that it’s probably a little bit fun to know that you were right on so many things. But I bet you would like to get through to him."
Palin responded by saying, "I think it’s too late to get through to him."
In an op-ed Palin wrote exclusively for Breitbart News last month, the former Alaska governor explained that during her vice presidential debate against Biden, "The price of gas was $3.65 a gallon and a barrel of oil was $97 dollars."
"Biden had no solutions to the problem of high gas prices, and 13 years later, he remains as clueless," Palin wrote.
Palin continued:
Biden only reluctantly acknowledges that we have supply shortages. His baffling solution is to import oil from foreign countries. His response to high energy prices is to run and beg OPEC, the international cartel, for more oil.
Biden’s decisions, such as killing the Keystone Pipeline and stopping responsible oil and gas development on federal land, were all deliberate and illegal actions made by an administration that does not understand whatsoever how we produce our energy. Consequences took a few months to kick in, but we’re feeling them now. Drilling has slowed. Exploration has slowed. Investment has been scared away. Devastating ramifications are around the corner.
America now suffers because two million fewer barrels of oil are being produced every day compared to just one year ago. The diminished supply caused the huge spike in prices, which gets compounded across every other sector of the economy, including agriculture, manufacturing, transportation, and job creation in general.
The former governor added that much of the current inflation in the U.S. is driven by these energy costs, all because President Joe Biden ...... 46th president of the U.S. The very model of probity, except maybe for abandoning Afghanistan...... "won’t learn his lesson."
I bet it's a HUUUUGE book!
[Newsbusters] - In a nauseatingly gooey Tuesday interview with election conspiracy theorist and Democratic candidate for Georgia governor Stacey Abrams, the co-hosts of ABC’s Good Morning America heaped praise on the previously failed gubernatorial candidate for announcing her second go at the position, her work as a "major voting rights advocate," and her eponymous new children’s book Stacey's Extraordinary Words. Words like - "I'll have two double Whoppers, supersized onion rings and a Diet Coke!'
The segment was teased as a discussion of the book but co-host Janai Norman had other intentions as she kicked things off with Abrams’ political ambitions.
"Good morning to you, Ms. Stacey Abrams! We are so excited to have you here! So excited to talk about this book," she said while introducing their guest. "Your other big news you made earlier this month. You will be running again for governor in Georgia in 2022. This is after that narrow loss three years ago. What will be different for you this time around?"
That "narrow loss" Norman was talking about was almost 55,000 votes.
[An Nahar] Somalia's neighbors and Western countries have expressed alarm over an intensifying row between the country's president and prime minister as heavily armed factions patrolled parts of the capital Mogadishu on Tuesday, raising fears that the political crisis could erupt into violence.Soldiers loyal to the prime minister took up positions near the presidential palace a day after President Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed, better known as Farmajo, announced the suspension of Prime Minister Mohammed Hussein Roble, who accused him of an "attempted coup".
Relations between the pair have long been frosty, but the latest developments have sparked concerns for Somalia's stability as the country struggles to hold long-delayed elections and fight a jihadist insurgency.
On Tuesday, pro-Roble troops paraded the streets, fuelling fear among Mogadishu residents weary of armed confrontations.
"They are not far away from the main security checkpoints of the presidential palace, they are armed with heavy machine guns and RPGs (rocket-propelled grenades)," Saido Mumin, a resident, told AFP.
Another local, Abdukadir Ahmed, said that although the situation appeared to be calm, he was "really worried" about the potential for violence.
International observers have urged both sides to resolve the escalating dispute while some Somali traditional elders and politicians have also sought to calm tempers.
"Some politicians and elders (have) started going between the two sides to de-escalate the situation, but these efforts are yet to... bring about a formal resolution", a source in the office of the president told AFP on condition of anonymity.
A coalition of opposition presidential candidates on Tuesday urged Farmajo to vacate his office immediately and called for "an urgent investigation and legal charges against Farmajo and anyone who helped him in staging the coup".
"This failed coup was an attempt to destroy the constitutional agencies of the country", the coalition said in a statement.

Plus all those bombs and fighter hours aren't free. It will make a mint for the military-industrial complex! It's win-win!

[BIZPACREVIEW] U.S. Rep. Eric I farted on national television Swalwell ... U.S. Representative-for-Life from Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,'s 15th congressional district since 2013. Naturally he's a Dem. His district covers most of eastern Alameda County and part of central Contra Costa County. He was rapidly eliminated from the 2020 Dem nomination pool. He looks a lot like Greg Marmelard, and has the distinction of being one of the few politicians to ever fart on national teevee... sparked immediate criticism after clueless commentary about the "new crew" of Republicans who are "indecent to their core."
The California Democrat was handed a self-check mirror on Twitter after whining about Republican politicians cheering on the 'Let's go Brandon' chants, including the latest one that seemed to set Swalwell off.
An Oregon father of four told President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. The nincompoop who dumped Afghanistan. The copier doesn't exist that could reelect him.... 'Let's Go Brandon' on Christmas Eve during a live-streamed call, setting off a meltdown on the left.
"I refuse to believe we are this indecent as people. Not on Christmas Eve. And not to a person who lost his wife and daughter at Christmastime. We are better than this. Be kind and #Merry Christmas," Swalwell tweeted.
Jared Schmeck, 35, insisted he meant the remark as a joke and said "and now I am being attacked for utilizing my freedom of speech," according to The Oregonian.
"He seems likes he's a cordial guy. There's no animosity or anything like that. It was merely just an innocent jest to also express my God-given right to express my frustrations in a joking manner...I love him just like I love any other brother or sister," Schmeck added about the president.
But Swalwell was having none of it, calling Schmeck "pathetic" in another tweet on Christmas.
But the Democrat's outrage earned him a swift reminder of his own "indecent" behavior after reports of his alleged intimate relations with Chinese spy Fang Fang.
Twitter users also gave Swalwell a reality check with a reminder of just how not decent his own party has been.

[An Nahar] A blast rocked the outskirts of the Baalbek town of al-Nabi Sheet in Lebanon Hezbollahstan ...The land area formerly occupied by the state of Lebanon, before that Phoenicia... ’s Eastern Mountain Range on Tuesday.
Lebanon's state-run National News Agency said the earth-shattering kaboom resulted from the detonation of leftover ammunition near the Lebanese-Syrian border.
Al-Jadeed TV said the blast was caused by "the detonation of an old rocket left over from the 1982 (Israeli) invasion" of Lebanon.
LBCI television for its part said the earth-shattering kaboom went off at a Hizbullah ...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory... post.
Al-Arabiya TV had reported that the blast resulted from an "Israeli Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... on depots belonging to Hizbullah." It later quoted unnamed sources as saying that "the sounds of blasts east of Baalbek resulted from the detonation of old explosives and not an Israeli airstrike."
Sky News Arabia for its part said that the blast was caused by the detonation of "obsolete ammunition."

[THEBLUESTATECONSERVATIVE] It’s not just the Daily Beast that’s turning on President Brandon the Incompetent. At this point, he’s gotten so bad that even CNN ...the organization formerly known as the Cable News Network. Now who knows what it might stand for... is directing its megaphone of criticism toward him and calling him out for his many shortcomings.
In fact, CNN slammed his low approval ratings on air, then compared him to Jimmy Malaise Carter ...peanut farming former nuclear sub officer, who succeeded Gerald Ford as president. Carter perfected the approach later used by Joe Biden to get elected, presenting himself as a moderate whose Zero-based Budgeting was going to so away with the federal deficif. Once in the hands George McGovern's rejects, who were ever so much more virtuous than the rest of us, the nation immediately spun into a Malaise®. By the time Jimmeh, as he was contemptuously referred to, was running against Ronald Reagan, the liberal columnists were pronouncing the nation's problems as too severe to be solved by anyone; they were simply unsolvable, or maybe insoluble. That was why Reagan was such a flop. After Obama, Jimmeh's's only the second worst president ever, and by the time Biden's done maybe the third. Depending on how many Dems we elect in coming years, he may even end up looking competent... As you can hear in the video, senior data news hound Harry Enten says:
"Look at Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. We get to suffer the consequences. So does Afghanistan, aka Biden's Bungle... in 2021. Minus 15 points. He’s well under water. That is even lower than Jimmy Carter was in a CBS News / NYT poll at the beginning of January, 1978 when he was minus 8 points.
When it comes to the economy, there is pretty much nothing good that can be said about Joe Biden’s numbers, when it comes to the American public."
Perhaps CNN has given up providing covering fire for the left in a desperate attempt to buoy its ratings, perhaps the network actually is switching back to news, or perhaps Brandon is just so bad that even leftists feel no compunction about hammering him publicly.
Regardless of the reason, CNN’s attacks on Biden are astute. He’s like a demented, senile version of Jimmy Carter that’s surrounded with the wokest of the woke.
Hence, it’s gotten bad enough that even CNN is calling him out. That’s bad news for Brandon.

"That’s unless Aoun criticized him in person," the sources went on to say. In this case, Berri would respond himself, according to the sources.

[IsraelTimes] Customers of Chinese e-commerce sites get text messages saying deliveries to halt in January, reportedly because PA postal service will only deliver packages with ’Paleostine’ label.
Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group may stop delivering goods ordered through its AliExpress service to Palestinian cities in the West Bank, according to an Israeli television report.
Channel 12 news reported Monday that Palestinians who ordered products through AliExpress and other online retailers in China have received text messages saying shipments to areas controlled by the Palestinian Authority will cease in January.
“Dear customer… starting from January 1, 2022, parcels from Israel will not be able to be delivered to Palestine,” the text messages read, according to a screenshot.
Haredi author accused of sexual abuse found dead in apparent suicide
Citing unnamed sources involved in the matter, the network said the change was due to the policy of the Palestine Post — the PA’s postal service — to have customers write “Palestine” as the destination country rather than Israel. Many Palestinians are reportedly unaware of the policy and thus write Israel.
The sources also claimed the Palestine Post was refusing to process packages that had Israel listed as the destination.
The report said Chinese sites decided to completely halt deliveries to Palestinian towns because the confusion was not worthwhile in light of the relatively low number of orders from there.
“This is an announcement intended for residents of the Palestinian Authority and is connected to arrangements for package deliveries between online commerce companies abroad and the Palestinian Authority,” the Israel Postal Company said.
Despite the announcement by AliExpress, the report said talks between unidentified parties were being held in a bid to resolve the matter.
[Rudaw] Ottoman Turkish air forces bombarded the vicinity of Galala village in Sulaimani province on Tuesday without causing casualties, a local official told Rudaw.
"The bombardment targeted an unpopulated area in the foot of Mount Aso," Kamaran Osman, mayor of nearby Mawat town told Rudaw, adding that it did not cause any casualties.
The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... bombarded the area twice late afternoon, according to the mayor who added that Ankara targets the areas on the grounds of the presence of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) fighters there.
The PKK is an gang struggling for the increased cultural and political rights of Kurds in Turkey. It is considered a terrorist group by Ankara.
Two members of the PKK were killed by Ottoman Turkish bombardment in the same village in June.
Turkey frequently targets PKK positions at home, Kurdistan Region, Iraq and Syria. Ankara launched aerial and ground campaigns against the group in Duhok province in April. The aerial operation is ongoing.
Five members of a PKK-affiliated group were killed in a Ottoman Turkish drone attack in Kobane this week, northeast Syria (Rojava).

[An Nahar] Prime Minister Najib Miqati said Tuesday that he has signed a decree calling for parliamentary elections to be held in May and has referred it to President Michel Aoun ...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah... ."I believe that the President will sign it too," Miqati added, at a presser.
The Prime Minister said that the elections can rectify the political path, stressing that "we shouldn't waste this opportunity."
"We are responsible for holding the elections on time," he stated.
On another note, Miqati refused to endorse "any settlement at the expense of institutions." He said he won't "bargain Cabinet meetings' resumption for any settlement that is unacceptable for the Lebanese, the families of the port victims and the world."
"I'm the one seeking the resumption of Cabinet sessions the most," Miqati said, adding that he wouldn't hesitate to resign, if his resignation is the solution.
The only solution, according to the Prime Minister, is "to hold on to an independent judiciary and to international legitimacy," instead of sectarianism.
Concerning the Lebanon Hezbollahstan ...a strong argument in favor of European colonialism, even French colonialism... -Gulf crisis, Miqati said that Lebanon should strengthen its relations with the Gulf and "we should not interfere in matters that do not concern us."

[ZEROHEDGE] On Christmas Eve, Dr. Anthony Fauci ...American epidemiologist with rotating opinions, warnings about the unlikely, and reassurances that if you wear a mask you won't get COVID, as long as you're wearing multiple masks, assuming wearing a mask is necessary in the first place... turned 81. However, the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits... he is not retiring just yet.
If he did, Fauci would reap the largest federal retirement package in U.S. history.
Our auditors at OpenTheBooks.com estimate Dr. Fauci’s annual retirement would exceed $350,000. Thereafter, his pension and benefits would continue to increase through annual cost-of-living adjustments.
Fauci has 55 years of service as a federal employee.
For the second year in a row, Fauci was the most highly compensated federal employee and out earned the president, four star generals, and roughly 4.3 million of his colleagues. As director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Fauci earned $434,312 in 2020, the latest year available, up from $417,608 in 2019.
Fauci is currently the Chief Medical Advisor to the President. However, the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits... his big salary boost came in 2004 under the George W. Bush Administration (as we reported earlier at Forbes) when Fauci received a "permanent pay adjustment" for his biodefense work. In January 2000, Fauci was also appointed to the Ready Reserve Corps, a corps of "officers on full-time extended active duty."
$340,000-$350,000 each year in federal retirement payments
Federal employees with Fauci’s length of service can retire to earn "80 percent of [their] high-3 average salary, plus credit for [their] sick leave," according to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
In November, we filed a federal Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit to determine Dr. Fauci’s currently unpublished 2021 salary, job description, royalties, conflict of interest and financial disclosures, and employment contract. The case moved quickly and the federal judge ordered production starting on February 1, 2022.
So, at this point, we can use only the last three published years of his salary — 2018: $399,625; 2019: $417,608; and 2020: $434,312 — to calculate his potential retirement earnings.

Perhaps Congress in its infinite wisdom will pass a law capping retirement benefits, effective retroactively, and focused on this case in particular. Isn't that what they are paid to do, you know, pass laws & allocate federal spending?

I'd raise it a hundred-fold if it make the Dwarf and his allies disappear forever from public life
[AmericanThinker] The House of Representatives has passed a bill that seeks to eradicate blasphemy against Islam. The bill, H.R. 5665, is truly remarkable as it amounts to Congress making a law respecting the establishment of Islam and reducing the United States government into a tool of the world’s ayatollahs.
The blasphemy bill came into existence when it was sponsored by the Somalia-born Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (to be fair to her, she is most likely nothing more than a pawn of the State Department who did what she was told) after the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan (who sparked off the deadly Islamic riots in multiple countries in 2005 by accusing the US of flushing the Quran down the toilet in Guantanamo Bay) demanded that the US and other western nations pass such a law to protect the medieval-era barbarism perpetrated by Islamic countries from scrutiny and criticism.
The actual text of the bill not only seeks to eradicate blasphemy against Islam around the world — and solely against Islam at that — but even requires the federal government to reorganize some portions of the State Department along the lines of an Islamic religious institution which will be responsible for interpreting the Quran. For example, the text of the bill mandates that "[t]he Secretary of State shall establish within the Department of State an Office" and the "purpose" of the office is described as "[m]onitoring and combating acts of Islamophobia and Islamophobic incitement that occur in foreign countries." That is, the State Department is required to create an office that is a cross between George Orwell’s Big Brother and the Taliban.
The word ’combat’ in the text of the law is problematic but fits in perfectly with the concept of waging violent jihad against the countries deemed to have committed blasphemy against Islam. Almost every dictionary defines the word primarily as an action pertaining to war. While the internet firm Google’s dictionary defines 'combat’ as "fighting between armed forces," Cambridge Dictionary defines the word as "a fight, especially during a war." According to Collins Dictionary, "combat is fighting that takes place in a war." This is no hyperbole as the State Department has a long history of supporting Islamic terrorists such as Osama bin Laden, the Taliban, Al Qaeda, and ISIS. Former Assistant Secretary of State, Robin Raphel, ran her office as though it were an outpost of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and she lost her security clearance when she was investigated for counterintelligence activities. Little wonder then that Newt Gingrich, the former Speaker of the House, used the term "Rogue State Department" and President Donald Trump described the State Department as the "Deep State Department."

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
-- that First Amendment thingie in the Constitution
Notice how the bit about religion comes first, before freedom of speech and assembly? It is the opinion of this citizen that not having a state religion is one of the more important ideas in the whole document. I suspect the Founding Fathers were inspired by the amount of time and energy our European betters spent killing each other in the name of God.
FDR's Japanese concentration camps passed Supreme Court scrutiny...
And that precedent still stands in effect AFAICT.

The term Islamaphobia really bothers me. A phobia by definition is an IRRATIONAL fear of something. Claustrophobia, germophobia, etc. The person suffering from the phobia is aware that it is irrational, but can't stop it.
With Islam, my fear is quite rational. I have seen what Muslims can do - to anyone not as pious as they deem necessary. This includes other Muslims.
Also, who gets to define "Islamophobia"? If I say, "I am glad I am Catholic and not Muslim", is that Islamophobic? If I say, "Those Muslims blew up a mosque full of other Muslims. They must be crazy", is that Islamophobic?

Libyan Presidential candidate, Suleiman al-Bayoudi called on the Libyan people to take "revolutionary action and restore the country from the rule of the traitorous minority."Al-Bayoudi claimed that the Libyan Parliament "fired a bullet of mercy" at the rest of Libya, referring to the postponement of the Presidential elections, which were supposed to be held on 24 December.
"The media outlets of traitors and agents will start to convince you (the citizens) that your absence to go to the polls was for the sake of Libya," he added.
Al-Bayoudi said that "agents of foreign embassies had defeated the will of the people," and that UN advisor Stephanie Williams would "impose her deal on the Libyans."
"The time has come for revolutionary action and to restore Libya from international tutelage and the rule of the traitorous and hired minority," he said.
The postponement of the elections, which were seen as the only way out of the current crisis has polarised public opinion.
Observers warned that delaying the elections could drag the country into war again, given the presence of armed militias controlling the majority of the country.
Some snuffies promote the theory of "demolition and reconstruction" as the best solution to the nation’s problem, while the United Nations ...an idea whose time has gone... and the international community are seeking to solve the Libyan crisis politically and "resort to ballot boxes, not ammunition boxes."

[Garowe] The National Intelligence Security Agency [NISA] has been asked to hand over a report on the arrest and subsequent detention of Mukhtar Robow, a former high-ranking al-Shabaab ...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord... operative within the federal republic of Somalia.
Interior Minister Abdullahi Nor asked acting NISA chief Abdullahi Farey to submit a comprehensive report on the detention of Mukhtar Robow, who served as al-Shabaab deputy leader before quitting to join politics in the country.
In a letter, the Minister said he received contact from relatives and representatives concerned about Robow’s safety and well-being. This is the first time a senior government official is openly asking about the detention of Mukhtar Robow.
Robow was first arrested in 2018 after declaring his candidature for the Southwest presidential seat. He would not be allowed to appear in a ballot after outgoing President Mohammed Abdullahi Farmaajo endorsed Abdiaziz Lafta-Gareen.
Chaos broke out in Baidoa, the regional administrative capital of Southwest as angry locals protested his ouster from the ballot. At least 11 people were shot and killed by security forces following the unprecedented confrontation.
Since then, Robow has remained in police custody under the supervision of NISA. To date, the government has never openly talked about his whereabouts. However, ars longa, vita brevis... it is believed that he's still in police custody.
In October this year, Robow spoke to the media where he accused the government of plotting to kill him. However, ars longa, vita brevis... the government did not clarify whether there are plans to eliminate the former al-Shabaab deputy leader.

[REGNUM] On November 1 (14), 1917, it became known in Transcaucasia that the Bolsheviks had been defeated in Petrograd. The Public Security Committee in Tiflis called on the population of the region to calm down. In fact, the political leadership knew what had happened. Formally, the Transcaucasian Commissariat headed by the Menshevik Yevgeny Gegechkori, where representatives of nationalist parties played a leading role, became the highest authority in the region since November 15, 1917.

Once he exploded in a gunfight with ISWAP, many in the group surrendered to the govt and others went with their new overlords. The remainder are a shell of their former selves, stmbling glassy-eyed and lonely through the Sambisa Forest and the soothing waters of Lake Chad, asking themselves What is truth?, or maybe just I wonder what's for dinner? I hope it's not rhinocerous again! ... , the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād, has claimed that its fighters killed 10 people including Nigerian soldiers and children during an attack on Buni Yadi community, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
SaharaReporters had reported that the bully boyz on Sunday engaged troops of the Nigerian Army in the community in a shootout.
Sources said the button men invaded the community around 5pm shooting sporadically as residents fled into the forest for safety.
Buni Yadi came into the limelight in 2014 after Boko Haram bully boyz killed 58 male students of the town’s Federal Government College.
ISWAP in a notice seen by SaharaReporters on Monday said "10 people were killed including soldiers and children during the attack."
The terror group added that it razed many military operational vehicles.
Since the death of JAS leader, Abubakar Shekau ...the lunatic leader of Boko Haram who has been reported dead at least eleven times, pledged his body and soul to ISIS, told his fighters to hang it up once or twice, and been fired by the Caliph and refused to step down. Last seen in 2017, sneaking into Cameroon while wearing a burka... , ISWAP has been consolidating its grip in locations around Lake Chad.
Just recently, it appointed Wali Sani Shuwaram, a 45-year-old as the new Leader (Wali) of ISWAP in Lake Chad.
The sect’s membership has swollen with the defection of hundreds of Boko Haram fighters under Shekau.
The Nigerian Army has repeatedly claimed that insurgency had been largely defeated and frequently underplays any losses.
The terror group has caused over 50,000 deaths and displaced millions of individuals mainly in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states.

I have no doubt that these questions have been prompted, in no small measure, by the messiness of the withdrawal, the nightmarish and chaotic scenes at the airport, the tragic human stories of those left behind, and the speed with which the American-friendly government collapsed followed by the Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... ’s takeover of the country.

[An Nahar] La Belle France has ordered the closure of a mosque in the north of the country because of the radical nature of its imam's preaching, regional authorities told AFP on Tuesday.
The mosque in Beauvais, a town of 50,000 people some 100 kilometers (62 miles) north of Gay Paree, will remain shut for six months, according to the prefecture of the Oise region where Beauvais is located.
It said the sermons there incite hatred, violence and "defend jihad".
The move on the mosque, which has a congregation of about 400, comes two weeks after Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said he had triggered the procedure to close the site because the imam there "is targeting Christians, homosexuals and Jews" in his sermons. This, the minister said, was "unacceptable".
Local authorities were legally bound to observe a 10-day period of information-gathering before taking action, but told AFP on Tuesday that the mosque would now be shut within two days.
Local daily Courrier Picard reported this month that the mosque's imam was a recent convert to Islam.
A lawyer for the association managing the mosque told AFP that it had filed for an injunction to overturn the ban.
The lawyer, Samim Bolaky, said there would be a court hearing on the appeal within 48 hours.
The authorities said the imam, who the association claims had preached only occasionally and had now been suspended, was in fact a regular presence at the mosque, according to the official document citing the reasons for the closure seen by AFP.
It said the imam had called the jihad, a term for war against the enemies of Islam, a "duty", and had glorified its fighters as "heroes" who protected Islam against Western influence.
He had also labelled non-Moslems as "enemies", it said.
"The terrorist threat remains at a very high level" and the closure had "the aim of forestalling acts of terrorism being committed", the document said.
The French government announced earlier this year that it would step up checks of places of worship and associations suspected of spreading radical Islamic propaganda.
The crackdown came after the October 2020 murder of teacher Samuel Paty who was targeted following an online campaign against him for having shown controversial cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed published by the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo ...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe... during a civics class.
The interior ministry said this month that around 100 mosques and Moslem prayer halls out of La Belle France's total number of more than 2,600 have been investigated over recent months because of suspicion that they were spreading "separatist" ideology.
Six sites were being probed with a view to closing them down on the basis of French laws against extremism and Islamist separatism, it said.

[THEBLUESTATECONSERVATIVE] Many on the political right oppose so-called "Big Government" due primarily to the tyranny it inevitably inflicts on its citizens, and we’re seeing scary examples of the phenomenon in real-time. Examples of such autocracy include vaccine and mask mandates, jury intimidation (see the Derek Chauvin trial), and unapologetic assaults on our First Amendment right to free speech. But there are other aspects of Big Government that are both infuriating and repulsive, one of which is its inexcusable waste; and we saw a ridiculous example of such waste last week.
According to the U.S. Secret Service last Tuesday, over $100 billion has been stolen from the federal government through three separate programs which received COVID relief bill funding, with one of those programs being the much-ballyhooed Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program. In today’s world of out-of-control government spending, $100 billion sounds almost small. But it isn’t, obviously. And each one of those dollars represents government incompetence having squandered our hard-earned taxpayer dollars.
The Secret Service’s Assistant Special Agent in Charge Roy Dotson acknowledged the magnitude of the failure, explaining "I’ve been in law enforcement for over 29 years and worked some complex fraud investigations for 20 plus years, and I’ve never seen something at this scale." We believe you, Agent Dotson, and thanks for putting this larceny in perspective. But it is the next statement from the special agent that sheds light on the fundamental problem.
"There’s no doubt that the programs were easily accessible online. And so, with that, comes the opportunity for bad actors to get into that mix," Dotson said. "It was necessary to try to get these funds out to people that were truly hurting, and no fault of anybody." And there it is... the absurd mindset of Big Government: We had good intentions, and stuff happens. Oh well.
Instead of such a large number like $100 billion, let’s divide that number by a whopping 100,000 which brings the theft to $1 million. Only let’s say that instead of that amount being stolen from the Federal Government, let’s say it was stolen from a company in the private sector. If a company such as Wal-Mart, or Goldman Sachs, or Southwest Airlines had $1 million stolen from it, do you think their reaction would be "it’s nobody’s fault?"
When a private company experiences a massive breach in their financial security apparatus, heads roll, and rightfully so. In private industry, there’s accountability. Employees are accountable to their employers, and employers are accountable to their owners: either stockholders or other types of proprietors. If $1 million goes missing from a private company tomorrow, no matter how big that company might be, by the end of the day someone will be packing up their belongings into cardboard boxes and heading out the door. It might be someone from their Finance and Accounting Department, or maybe their Security team, or perhaps their Information Technology group. Or maybe folks from all of the above. But someone will suffer the consequences because someone failed to do their job

In private industry, there’s accountability.
This point is evergreen; just look at the Earned Income Tax Credit - same deal there with all the fraud that's committed to get those big & easy refunds, and that shit's been going on as long as I've been banging out 1040's, so the order of magnitude is comparable between these two things.

[An Nahar] What softened an expected "explosive" presidential speech is a meeting that took place late Sunday between Free Patriotic Movement Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic... chief Jebran Bassil and Hizbullah ...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory... coordination official Wafiq Safa, sources said.Informed sources told the PSP's al-Anbaa news portal, in remarks published Tuesday, that the meeting, that lasted till Monday morning, made President Michel Aoun ...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah... ’s criticism less harsh.
Aoun was reportedly going to "call things by their name," but ended up criticizing Hizbullah and Amal without naming them.
Aoun in his televised speech Monday used vague suggestions instead of naming the Shiite duo, "so as not to anger Hizbullah, his main ally in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections," the sources said.
The sources went on to say that the Bayada talks "revived the (2006) Mar Mikhael understanding" between the FPM and Hizbullah.
Meanwhile, ...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth ordered the entire 614th quadrant searched. The Green Lensman must be found!... Bassil’s scheduled presser on January 2 will "take a different direction," the sources said. "It will be very convenient for Hizbullah."
FPM MP Mario Aoun denied a link between the president’s words and the Safa-Bassil meeting. He said that "he heard from the President exactly what he had expected."
However, we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by... the politician added that the meeting might have an impact on Bassil’s position regarding his disagreements with Hizbullah.

[KavkazUzel] A military court in Rostov-on-Don has appointed four residents of Dagestan from 16 to 19 years in a strict regime colony, having found them guilty of organizing a terrorist community.
Four natives of the Kizilyurt district of Dagestan: Jamaludin Tazhudinov, 25, Tazhudin Tazhudinov,27, Khabib Hajiyev, 33 and Alimagomed Sheikhov, 39, were accused of undergoing training in order to carry out terrorist activities, illegal arms trafficking, organizing an illegal armed group, illegal the circulation of explosives, participation in the activities of a terrorist organization and the organization of the terrorist community. The criminal case came to court on April 22, 2020, hearings on the merits began in June 2020, the process took 43 sessions, follows from a file on the website of the Southern District Military Court.
[KavkazUzel] The Southern District Military Court sentenced Olga Petrova, a native of the Krasnodar Territory, to seven years in prison, having found her guilty of financing terrorism. The defense called the verdict biased and announced an appeal.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," 36-year-old Olga Petrova and her defense claimed that she had made the transfers involved in the case to a supplier of traditional medicine. The case itself is based on the testimony of Sagid Kazimagomedov, convicted of involvement in terrorist activities, who reported pressure, but the court did not take this into account, the lawyer said.
According to relatives, the security forces began persecuting the family after Petrova and her sister adopted Islam.
The case of Olga Petrova, 36, accused of financing terrorism, has been considered by the Southern District Military Court since August 2021. She was charged with part 1 of article 205.1 (assistance to terrorist activities) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which, according to the current version of the code, provides for up to 15 years in prison.
The Southern District Military Court upheld the prosecution's demand to sentence Petrova to seven years in prison. Despite the fact that Petrova was accused of transferring money to a person who later allegedly organized the financing of terrorists in Syria, the court sentenced her above the term that her counterpart Sagid Kazimagomedov received, previously sentenced to five years in prison, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported .
Kazimagomedov is the only prosecution witness whose testimony was directly related to the translations she was charged with. He gave testimony in relation to Petrova, being under investigation and after the sentencing against him. In court in the Petrova case, he denied the version of the investigation, said that the money that Petrova transferred to his card was payment for the goods that she bought with his wife in the store, attorney Gayane Malkhasyan said.
The defense stated that in addition to the testimony obtained by the investigation under pressure on witnesses, there was no evidence of Petrova's guilt in the case, neither in the form of correspondence in messengers and social networks, nor in the form of recording of Petrova's telephone connections.
"The operative part has been announced, the court has appointed a sentence of seven years in a general regime colony. The punishment is disproportionate, an appeal is ahead. It is not yet known how the court motivates this decision, but we believe that the court did not take into account the testimony given by the witnesses at the hearing, but based on the testimony received from them during the investigation," lawyer Gayane Malkhasyan said in a comment to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
We will remind that earlier the lawyer pointed out that during the preliminary investigation of the case against Petrova, the investigation committed many violations.
"Initially, nothing was checked. The petitions were rejected, then additional interrogations of Petrova were carried out, and a confrontation with Kazimagomedov was refused to conduct a confrontation with his wife, with whom Petrova had trade relations. I filed cases in court, then on appeal, the result was negative. No pressure was exerted on me. On Petrova there were repeated attempts to persuade me to cooperate with the investigation, psychological coercion to confess guilt," Malkhasyan told earlier to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
[Express] Chinese citizens lashed out against the tech billionaire’s space ambitions on Monday after satellites from Starlink Internet Services, a division of Musk’s SpaceX aerospace company, had two "close encounters" with the Chinese space station. According to a document submitted by China to the UN space agency, the incidents occurred on July 1 and October 21 In other words, the Middle Kingdom sees SpaceX as a space domination competitor

I've always had the feeling that just as it was shown cell phone tower signals could be used to detect F-117s in flight, the StarLink sats have "off-label" capabilities that probably bug China and Russia.

I think Musk has always talked out of both sides of his mouth, doing the machine's bidding when it could make him a multi-tens-of-billions-aire... and then turning around and wanting a libertarian lifestyle with his money, building rocketships to Mars and his own internet.
Neither of which the machine wants to exist, any more than they want the drilling rigs he wants to use to fuel his rockets to exist.

Imagine the black Archie Bunker: His problem isn't a son-in-law like "Meathead" Stivic, it's the guy whose gun fell out of his pants at a party and shot his grandchild. How do you think that guy is thinking?

He's not politically black. Expect no notice to be taken of this and it will never trend on Youtube.
[PJMEDIA] Between Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. The nincompoop who dumped Afghanistan. The copier doesdn't exist that could reelect him.... ’s poor poll numbers and his party being increasingly out of touch with the American public, the Democratic Party is widely expected to suffer devastating losses in the 2022 midterms.
But prominent Democrat lawyer Marc Elias is predicting that Democrats will try to use litigation to prevent some duly elected Republicans from serving.
"My prediction for 2022: Before the midterm election, we will have a serious discussion about whether individual Republican House Members are disqualified by Section 3 of the 14th Amendment from serving in Congress," Elias tweeted last week. "We may even see litigation."
Dan Gainor of the Media Research Center scoffed at Elias’s absurd idea. "Marc is admitting Dems can’t win the election. So now he wants to cheat. Democrats are the real insurrectionists. Just like last time."
Elias, however, insisted that "members of Congress who engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the United States are not eligible to serve in Congress."
However, you can observe a lot just by watching... no members of Congress participated in the riots that Democrats have incorrectly dubbed an "insurrection." Not only have text messages released by the Jan. 6 Committee proven that there was no insurrection but no one has been charged with insurrection either. It would be incredibly difficult to prove that members of Congress who didn’t even participate in the riot were engaged in an insurrection when no one who actually participated in the riot has been charged with insurrection.
Perhaps Mr. Elias is floating ideas for deep-pocketed Democrats willing to hire him in order to feed this fantasy that they’ll be able to remove Republicans from office and perhaps save the House majority for the Democrats?
The Democrats and their hatchet men are now just admitting openly that they don't believe in democracy, the Constitution, rule of law. They're playing with fire
Our democracy has already died. The Democrats will never again give up power in our lifetimes. And since they control the government, we can try rising up against them so that we can be massacred by drones. Why do you think they're purging the armed forces of right wingers right now?
The US military got very, very good at killing people in Iraq and Afghanistan. Who cheered it?

This is standard m.o. for this crook and his disgraced law partner. What's scary though is this new Narrative about "insurrection" and fancy academic theories predicting another US "civil war."
When this Narrative is bandied about by, respectively, the military brass and the nation's most prominent academic expert on intrastate conflict, and reinforced by actual stated policy at the highest levels of federal law enforcement, something's up.
Top Military + FB-eye + Prestige Academy + "Voting Rights" BS and Oligarch$$$$$' intervention = much worse suppression to come.
