#2 a rumor has been going around that drinking methanol (commonly known as methyl alcohol or wood alcohol) can stave off the virus or even cure COVID-19.

Didn't the old man in the Andromeda Strain survive because he habitually drank methanol?

Perhaps that's the basis for this rumor.

#5 I thought all alcohol was haram in Islam. To the point that some Muslim healthcare workers in the UK wouldn't use alcohol based hand sanitizer.
