If you know your American news media, we generally place the source’s name in square brackets at the beginning of the article text so our readers can quickly judge for themselves how to weight the presented information. As has been mentioned here before, lies and propaganda are also informative to the prepared mind.

At the moment we’re actually limited in terms of Russian sources. I’m told they’ve reduced international access to forestall hackers, so we’re mostly working with Ukrainian and Russian-Ukrainian sources for the war over there. #5 If you want relatively 3rd party analysis good luck - everyone has a dog in this fight. You could try indianpunchline dot com or medium dot com Tom Cooper for an Austrian point of view. Reminiscence of the future and the saker dot is seem to have some interesting insights from the Russian side of the house. Larry Johnson sonar21 dot com is a knowledgeable American. Three big challenges. 1 - the war is live and opsec is in effect. 2 - beaucoup propaganda from all sides. 3 - this isn’t a 3rd world beat down. The Russians are fighting a nato trained and equipped army on their home turf without an overwhelming numerical advantage. Most (90+%) commentators have little real world training or experience in near peer combat tactics - and fewer in strategy. #6 My two biggest takeaways so far are how important railroads still are for logistics and how layered air dominance has been (below 3,000 meters all drones and manpads while the Russians seem to have matters in hand above that altitude). Surprising that EM spoofing hasn’t had more of an impact (that we know of).
