#1 Amathia. A word our headmaster and many teachers would often use whilst teaching us Indian and bi-racial kiddies. They were all Irish or English Jesuits, you see, a French or Italian nun here and there in the mix. They resented our bringing the typically south asian 'primitiveness' inside the school gates. 😁

Amathia and agnoia. Their usage of the terms implied that a continued allegiance to useless hubris would make the education of none effect. We would try to learn but remain idiots. And we would actually protect our agnoia, our ignorance with more amathia, creating jumbled, albeit glorious sounding paradigms that led back to our ignorance. And you know what? That's exactly what happened with India.

Of course, the world is divided so sharply today, there are aggressively protected paradigms now and their agents who'll push the amathia, encourage it, shove it down your children's throat if you're not careful. It's everywhere now, and no one is immune to it. Very few people, like Rantburgers, can just laugh at the ridiculousness of the world, collaborate on expanding each other's trivia, and just... chill.

#2 And of course, King has always been a good entertainer. He's very excitable and eager to share his views, if you meet him. Maybe someone just cornered him on his views on twitter in a bad day? Fiction writers can be totally normal outside and legion inside y'know? You never know when they may drop one worldview and adopt another, just for a few days.

Also, does the editor of regnum just let these guys go at the word processor and never check in? 🙃

The author of the article tried to cast a mood, similar to how King used to write his horror stories, to describe the story of the prank.

#6 See? Writers, especially fiction writers, are involuntarily empathic folks, can assume worldviews at the drop of a hat. And the successful, commercial ones, their views are even a bit... compromised at times. No one should pay them any attention. They're just entertainers.

#8 I used to read every SK book published, including the early Bachman ones. Couldn’t wait for next installment of The Dark Tower series. But all that changed after his car crash (who buys the car that hit you?) and he made his ‘military are stupid’ statement. All books trashed. Yes he is entitled to his opinion, as am I.

#15 Got me interested in reading, and he had some winners making the book-to-film leap multiple times, and The Stand was king of the hill in pop literature for a long time.

At no point do I think anyone thought they were reading Umberto Eco.

#16 You need to suspend your disbelief to appreciate Stephen King novels. That's because, instead of doing the hard work of inventing a realistic plot, he always relies on supernatural plot devices. But it isn't science fiction because that would take serious work and research too. It's just garbage.
