Reports: Canadian Led Somalia Courthouse Attack
[An Nahar] Authorities are investigating a Canadian's possible death in Mogadishu after reports said he led a recent attack by Shabaab Islamists on the main courthouse in the Somali capital.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police "is aware there are media reports linking a Canadian to terrorist attacks in Mogadishu," Sergeant Greg Cox told Agence La Belle France Presse.

"We cannot provide specific details but are working with relevant domestic and international partners to gather information."

The daily Toronto Star said that Somali Sherlocks are focusing on a Canadian, Mahad Ali Dhore, whom they believe organized the assault by nine fighters wearing police or army uniforms.

Three of them blew themselves up to clear the way for the six others, who took hostages and started battling the Somali and African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
troops guarding the courthouse. The shootout lasted for several hours.

Thirty minutes into the attack, as military reinforcements were arriving and the maimed were being evacuated, a boom-mobile exploded in the zone.

The attack left at least 34 people dead.

The National Post, citing unnamed sources in Toronto's Somali diaspora, said Dhore died in the attack. He had either been one of the jacket wallahs or was making a court appearance when fellow Shabaab fighters stormed the complex, according to two scenarios outlined by the paper.

Yemenis protest for release of Guantanamo inmates
[Pak Daily Times] Relatives of Yemeni detainees at Guantanamo and activists demonstrated on Tuesday outside the US embassy in Sanaa demanding the release of inmates on hunger strike.

"Obama, Obama, enough detentions," the protesters chanted in an appeal to US President Barack Obama
They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them...
, an AFP correspondent reported.

Twenty protesters wore orange jumpsuits, similar to those worn by prisoners at the US detention centre in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. "We urge the US government to immediately release the detainees at Guantanamo," read a banner carried by protesters at the rally. The "94 Yemeni detainees are on hunger strike in Guantanamo," said Mohammed al-Ahmadi, an official from Al-Karama, a local non-governmental organization. A veiled black-clad mother of a detainee also said inmates were on hunger strike.

"The Americans say they hold our sons to rehabilitate them. They can return them to us and we could take care of them," said the woman who told AFP her son was captured in Pakistain where he worked.

"He has no links to terrorism," she said. The protesters handed a US embassy representative a petition urging the release of Guantanamo prisoners.

Saudi King Condemns Boston Marathon Bombings
[ABCNEWS.GO] The king of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in their national face...
on Tuesday condemned the Boston Marathon bombings, saying no religion or morals would condone such an attack.

In a condolences message to President Barack Obama
If you have a small business, you didn't build that...
and the American people, King Abdullah said the perpetrators of such "heinous terrorist acts" are "enemies of any humane considerations." He said the perpetrators represent only themselves.

In a separate statement, the Saudi Embassy said a Saudi woman was among those injured, suffering from minor injuries due to glass fragments.

The Saudi government has been cracking down on Islamic hard boyz since their own ox was gored al-Qaeda launched a wave of attacks in the country in 2003, killing dozens. It has sought to distance itself from terrorist acts in the past, including the Sept. 11 attacks, where 15 of the 19 hijackers involved were Saudi citizens.

China-Japan-Koreas
North Korea Threatens South over 'Monstrous' Act
[An Nahar] North Korea's military on Tuesday threatened the South with imminent "sledge-hammer" retaliation unless Seoul apologized for anti-Pyongyang protestors burning effigies of its revered leaders.

South Korea called the North's ultimatum "regrettable" and vowed a tough response to any military provocation.

The warning came a day after U.S. Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
wrapped up a Northeast Asian tour aimed at defusing soaring military tensions on the Korean peninsula and getting China to help rein in a belligerent Pyongyang.

As North Korea marked the birth of late founding leader Kim Il-Sung on Monday -- a major national holiday -- around 40 protesters in Seoul burned portraits of Kim, his son Kim Dear Leader Jong-Il

and grandson and current leader Kim Jong-Un.

Condemning what it described as a "thrice-cursed... monstrous criminal act," the Korean People's Army (KPA) Supreme Command issued an "ultimatum" threatening "just" and immediate action if an apology was not forthcoming.

"Our retaliatory action will start without any notice," it said in a statement carried by the Korean Central News Agency.

"The military demonstration... will be powerful sledge-hammer blows at all hostile forces hurting the dignity of the supreme leadership," it added.

N.Korea Peeved at S.Korean Press' Lack of Festive Spirit
North Korea lashed out at the South Korean media on Sunday for being insufficiently enthusiastic about anniversary celebrations for nation founder Kim Il-sung.
Norks are peeved at just about everything, aren't they...
The impoverished country called South Korean reports about the extravagant celebrations "another grandiose kind of ugly provocation that can never be pardoned."

In a statement, a spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland denounced the South Korean government for letting the media get away with reports that portrayed the lavish festivities as inappropriate at a time of food shortages and increasingly belligerent rhetoric in the North.

North Korea is getting increasingly frantic in attacks on the South Korean press, which has conspicuously ignored calls to respect the regime's elusive "dignity."
I recall Saddam was demanding that everyone respect his dignity as well...
The statement accused Seoul of "casting dirt on compatriots for observing a festive day," while calling the Park Geun-hye administration a "traitorous clique" that is no different from its predecessor, the Lee Myung-bak government.

Since last week, various kinds of events have been held, including an art festival, a Kim Il-sung flower festival, and a national sports festival. The official Rodong Sinmun even shunted the bellicose rhetoric of editorials from the front page to the back pages and reduced their length.

On Sunday, the North Korean government, party and military leadership solemnly marked the occasion of Kim Il-sung's 101st birthday. Kim Yong-nam, the chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly, stressed the need to "increase the stockpile of nuclear weapons and engage in a more resolute confrontation against the U.S. to cope with a warlike situation."

Leader Fat Boy Kim Jong-un did not attend the event but paid his respects to his grandfather's embalmed corpse at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun at midnight Monday.

No military parade is expected this year. A Unification Ministry official said, "Last year, the regime carried out an unprecedented parade because of the symbolic nature of the Kim's 100th birthday, but normally there are no parades" on the anniversary.
Yeah, yeah, whatever...

N. Korea may be eyeing exit plan as tensions peak
SEOUL -- North Korea may be looking to relieve tensions on the Korean Peninsula after having increased them to a near-boiling point over the past weeks with almost daily threats against South Korea and the United States, a senior U.S. military official in Seoul said Tuesday.

"I think the DPRK leadership is trying to figure out a way off from the heightened state of rhetoric we have seen over the past couple of weeks," the senior U.S. official told reporters and correspondents in Seoul.
That's nice. Look behind you, there's a solid wall marked No Escape Here. Quite possibly Sun Tsu would not approve.
And no, you can't make like a cartoon character and paint a door onto the wall, then pass through...
Although the reclusive communist nation has ratcheted up its bellicose rhetoric recently -- particularly against the South Korea-U.S. joint annual drills this March and additional U.N. sanctions imposed earlier on the North for its third nuclear test in February -- North Korea's threats have been "always conditional," the official said.

"So if the U.S. does this, then (the North says) we are going to do this. So there was always a backdoor to it (tension)," the official said. "What I would hope is that they are exploring the use of that backdoor to scale back their rhetoric."
See wall comment, above.
The U.S. official said Seoul and Washington have been closely watching for signs of a missile launch or any provocations, but North Korea has not recently shown any large-scale troop movements or exercises.

"The launch of an intermediate-range missile is one of many tactical levels of provocations we've been exploring and trying to figure out what the true intentions are," the official said. "Any of those things can happen with little to no notice and we may not know that it happens until the missiles are launched."

#3  So was it Kimmie running up a foam-a-thon, or was it the military leaders pushing Kimmie to foam for them? It is beginning to look like a massive loss of face.

No more industrial area, no more food aid. If the Norks want aid, talk to their sugar daddy to the north. Not SKor, not Japan, not the US. The present Nork leaders are toxic and have to go if the people of Nork are to survive.

#6  By boxing himself in through his belligerent rhetoric Kim Jong-Un has not not only made a spectacle of himself, but also made those who support him look foolish.

By threatening to launch missiles and then standing them down Kim Jong-Un has provided himself with an easy exit from the box.
I'm sure Susan Rice, John Kerry and the Obama administration will eventually assign themselves credit for backing North Korea down on what, in the end, will probably prove to be nothing more than the same old North Korean propaganda overblown by the media.

To suggest that a poorly drawn Photoshop graphic of Pudgy in a box would be of interest to Susan Rice is, I think, a litle bit exaggerated.

As a person not gifted with the journalistic skills of most of posters here I often attempt to express myself through my graphics. The opinions I attempt to express do not always come accross as I had intended.

Europe
Belgium Police Target Islamist Volunteers for Syria
[An Nahar] Belgium went on the offensive Tuesday against radical Islamist recruitment networks, staging dozens of early morning raids and several arrests of individuals suspected of sending imported muscle to the Syrian front.

More than 200 police carried out 48 early raids in the northern port city of Antwerp and in Vilvorde just outside Brussels, home to most of the 80 young Belgians known to have departed for Syria in recent months.

The prosecutor's office said six people incarcerated
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
were tossed into the calaboose
for questioning -- one of whom was charged -- and computers, mobile phones and 30,000 euros seized, though no weapons or explosives were found.

Tuesday's police operation was part of an ongoing year-long inquiry to determine whether a group known as Sharia4Belgium "is a terrorist group," an offense that carries a 10-year jail term, the prosecutor's office said in a statement.

The lengthy seven-page statement said the group appeared to be a hardline jihadist Salafist movement with international contacts and that several of its members had signed up to fight with al-Qaeda-inspired fighters on the Syrian front.
The lengthy seven-page statement said the group appeared to be a hardline jihadist Salafist movement with international contacts and that several of its members had signed up to fight with al-Qaeda-inspired fighters on the Syrian front.

It is believed to have recruited 33 volunteers for the Syria front, said chief investigator Stanny De Vlieger.

"The investigation shows ... they appear to have participated in combat and even in the kidnapping and execution of those they call 'non-believers'," he added.

Belgium is among several European nations concerned over the departure to Syria of hundreds of young Islamist radicals.

Amid reports some 80 Belgians have joined opposition fighters in Syria, authorities have vowed to take steps to prevent others leaving.

The prosecutor's office said that among those placed in durance vile
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
in the northern port city of Antwerp on Tuesday was a well-known Belgian Islamist figure, Fouad Belkacem, who was charged later on Tuesday.

Belkacem was the front man for a group known as Sharia4Belgium that favored installing Islamic law in Belgium but which voluntarily announced an end to its existence in October.

Another man who was maimed in Syria had been interrogated by police and was among the six detained.

A 38-year-old Frenchie well-known in radical Islamist circles in Belgium was killed Sunday while fighting Assad forces as part of an Islamist brigade in Syria, a relative told the Belga news agency.

Raphael Gendron left for Syria several months ago to fight with a unit of the 'Falcons of Sham' headed by Abdelrahman Ayachi, who was maimed Sunday and is the son of Syrian-born radical Imam Bassam Ayachi, Belgian media said.

A report released early this month by King's College London said up to 600 people from 14 countries, including Austria, Britannia, Germany, Spain and Sweden had taken part in the Syria conflict since it began in March 2011.

The largest contingent was from Britannia but based on population, the figures for Belgium, Ireland and the Netherlands were the most significant, with around 200 between them.

Westboro Baptist Church To Picket Boston Funerals
In a tweeting binge following the explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday, the Westboro Baptist Church celebrated the carnage and announced its intention to picket the funerals of victims.

The tiny Topeka, Kan., fundamentalist group urged the U.S. government to "reinstate" the death penalty for homosexuality and warned "violence will fully consume u [sic]" if that doesn't happen. Most of the church's tweets said same-sex marriage caused the bombing, but others mentioned abortion and supposed mistreatment of the church.

US Senate C'tee: US Will Assist Israel If It Attacks Iran
It may be symbolic, but its the right symbol, aimed by the Democrat-controlled Senate at the Democratic president who might think of having other ideas when the time comes.
[Jpost] Resolution to provide diplomatic, economic and military support to Israel if the Jewish State is forced to act militarily against Iranian nuclear program adopted by US Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

On Israel's 65th Independence Day, the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee adopted "Senate Resolution 65," stipulating that the US will assist Israel diplomatically, economically and militarily if the Jewish state is compelled to take military action against Iran "in its defense of its territory, people, and existence."

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Senator Lindsey Graham
... the endangered South Carolina RINO...
(R-SC) sponsored Tuesday's resolution, which garnered a bipartisan group of 79 co-sponsors. The resolution also emphasizes that the US must be committed to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

"The Senate Foreign Relations Committee has sent a very clear and enormously important message of solidarity with Israel against the Iranian nuclear threat--which endangers American, Israeli, and international security," the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) said in a statement.

"AIPAC urges the full Senate to act expeditiously to adopt the resolution."

#2  IMO Tel Aviv = PM Netanyahu + Govt. recognize that the only real way to stop Iran's NucProgs is via attack, invasion, + ultimately OCCUPATION, not just attack. The alternate is to get Iran to unilaterally halt its programme.

As things stand, neither the US nor Israel has any cause to attack Iran - while Iran is dev the capability, economies, or proficiencies to produce NucWeaps, it hasn't actually done so, nor unlike Saddam is there proof that Iran intends to give deadly NucTech knowledge to Radicalist Groups. In addition, both Russia + China are opposed to any Milaction agz Iran.

UNLESS A UN-APPROVED COALITION + MANDATE TO INVADE + OCCUPY IRAN IS CREATED, THIS RESOLUTION IS JUST PCORRECT COMEDY, AS RIDICULOUS + FARSICAL AS TAKING AWAY EVERY AMER'S RIGHT TO OWN GUNS WHILE DELIBERAT LEAVING US BORDERS UNSECURED.

This resolution might be well intended but it looks like an empty promise.

Home Front: WoT
Certifying an ‘Act of Terror’
Here’s another wrinkle to add to the realm of terrorism law, which has been on our radar this week.

As horrific as it was, the Boston Marathon bombing isn’t likely to qualify as a terrorist attack for the purposes of insurance coverage.

President Barack Obama said Tuesday that it’s an act of terror whenever “bombs are used to target innocent civilians.” But in the world of terrorism insurance, that’s not the definition that matters.

In order to trigger the post-9/11 federal reinsurance program, a violent act must be certified as an “act of terrorism” by the Secretary of the Treasury — currently Jack Lew — in agreement with the Secretary of State and the U.S. Attorney General. A spokeswoman for the Treasury Department said that no certification has been issued.

After the September 11th attacks, Congress sought to stabilize the terrorism insurance market in key industries such as construction and commercial real estate. The result was a backstop known as the “Terrorism Risk Insurance Program,” a system for spreading catastrophic losses between the U.S. government and private insurers.

As prices for terrorism coverage have come down, about 60% of commercial policyholders have purchased coverage over the past few years, according to a 2012 research report prepared for Congress. The biggest buyers are larger businesses in cities with higher risk exposure.

Pressure cookers help make good bombs and clues - Aypee
Pressure cookers by their very nature help make good bombs, amplifying the blast and the carnage.

They don't just hold the explosives. The tightly sealed pot that speeds the cooking of beans and meat makes easier-to-obtain but weaker explosives faster and stronger. And they may also help Sherlocks find out who built the deadly homemade bombs that went kaboom! at the Boston Marathon on Monday.

Investigators found fragments of BBs and nails, possibly contained in a pressure cooker, said Richard DesLauriers, the FBI agent in charge in Boston. He said the items were sent for analysis.

If a pressure cooker was used, it probably cost around $100 to construct, say former federal forensic and explosive Sherlocks. It's like a pipe bomb but bigger and more powerful.

Israel-Trained Medical Team Responded To Boston Attack
[IsraelTimes] A top emergency medicine doctor at a Boston hospital where many of the maimed from Monday's bombing attack were being treated credited Israel with training the hospital's first-response team and readying it to deal with mass-casualty incidents.

While briefing media hours after the devastating attack that killed three people and maimed over 100 others near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, Dr. Alasdair Conn said that the scene of the carnage and the horrific injuries sustained by the victims were reminiscent of "a bomb kaboom that we hear about in the news in Storied Baghdad
...located along the Tigris River, founded in the 8th century, home of the Abbasid Caliphate...
or Israel, or some other tragic place in the world."

Afterward he added, "About two years ago, in actual fact, we asked the Israelis to come across, and they helped us set up our disaster team so that we could respond in this kind of manner."
Hard-won expertise shared where it turned out to do the most good.

#1  From the Boston Globe:
Ed Kelly is the head of the state firefighters association, but he’s no desk jockey. He’s a working firefighter, and on Tuesday night, 27 hours after Boston changed forever, I followed him up the stairs at the District 4 station on Columbus Avenue that houses Ladder 17 and Engine 7 in the South End.

“Here’s the deal,” Kelly said, stopping me before we went in the room. “They don’t want their names in the paper. They don’t want to be singled out. They did what every firefighter in the city did. What every cop, every EMS worker, did. They don’t think they’re special.”

What they did was nothing short of heroic. They ran toward the bombs. They saved lives.

One of the firefighters from Engine 7 is a Marine who did three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He saw bad things overseas. He didn’t expect to see them in the Back Bay on Patriots Day.

“We were on a call, Comm. Ave and Exeter,” he said. “There was a barbecue on the porch. College kids.”

Their gruff lecture on fire safety and common sense was cut short when the first bomb exploded around the corner.

“I know what a bomb sounds like,” he said. “We tore around the corner thinking we were going to find a fire. But there was no fire.”

Instead there were dozens of people spilled on the sidewalk. The firefighters worried about secondary bombs and biological weapons. But they dove into their work.

“The first person I encountered was a woman. The bone was sticking out of her leg. Four inches in width, 10 inches in length. The femoral blood was a dark, dark red.”

A 12-year department veteran from Dorchester was right next to him, working through the victims in front of Marathon Sports. He saw a guy he knew from the neighborhood, Bill Richard.

“I can’t find Denise,” Richard cried, referring to his wife.

The Richard family had been caught in the blast as they watched runners pass the finish line. Bill Richard and his son Henry avoided serious injury. But Denise Richard was hit in the head with shrapnel, and her 6-year-old daughter Janey lost part of her leg. Eight-year-old Martin Richard caught the full force of the explosion, and when the firefighter looked down at him, “I knew Marty was gone.”

Marty Richard was a third-grade classmate of the firefighter’s daughter. In fact, almost everyone on Engine 7 knew the Richards; the lieutenant’s kid was a classmate of one of the Richard kids.

“My daughter goes to the same Irish step dance school as Janey Richard,” Ed Kelly said. “This is the thing. All these guys, they’re neighborhood guys. When they were working on these people on Boylston Street, in some cases they were working on friends and neighbors, and they were working on strangers just as hard. They saved many lives.”

One of those strangers was a homeless man, whose foot hung by a thin shred of flesh.

“I looked him in the eye and asked him if he was OK,” the former Marine said, “but he was in shock. He couldn’t talk.”

The Marine was treated for post-traumatic stress disorder after his last combat tour. I asked him if he needed more treatment after what he went through on Monday.

He didn’t answer for a while, then nodded slowly and said, “Probably.”

Another former Marine was on Ladder 17, and when he jumped down from the truck and waded onto the bloodied sidewalk he had to make a choice: which child to grab first.

“There were two kids missing legs,” he said. “I grabbed one of them and another guy grabbed the other kid.”

He and an EMT tried to put a tourniquet on the boy’s leg, but the blood made the tubing slippery.

“It’s OK, buddy,” the firefighter told the screaming boy. “It’s OK, pal.”

Ed Kelly had brought his kids to watch his wife run the Marathon. She had just crossed the finish line and had walked down Boylston toward Berkeley when the first bomb went off. Kelly ran down Berkeley Street, burst into the station house, and grabbed his gear from his Ladder 17 locker and ran back to the bomb site.

“A lot of off-duty guys did the same. Not just firefighters. Cops, EMS,” Kelly said. “It says something about this city.”

I asked one of the firefighters, the former Marine with eight years on the job, why he and his brother firefighters did what they did, without any concern for their own safety. Why they ran toward the bombs. Why they were prepared to die if need be.

“That’s our job,” he said, shrugging.

#2  The Israeli Medical profession has literally written the book on medical treatment of innocents hurt by Paleo bombers that had serious diseases and blew themselves up with vests laden with shrapnel and rat poison, creating more shrapnel and disease with their own flesh and bone.

The Israelis have seen more evil than most people have seen and still worked out medical miracles to save so many. My hat is off to them.

Deadly Boston marathon horror is 'potential' terrorism
[Pak Daily Times] Two kabooms which brought carnage to the Boston marathon with three dead and more than 100 injured was being treated Tuesday as a "potential terrorist" attack.
Multiple kabooms targeting crowds of civilians would seem to be terrorism by definition, but I guess I'm not subtle enough to understand...
The two kabooms 13 seconds apart threw victims into the air as the famed race came to an end, tearing the limbs off some. An eight-year-old boy was reportedly among the dead.

Security was stepped up in major cities across the United States amid fears of a repeat of the September 11, 2001 attacks. President Barack Obama
Republicans can come along for the ride, but they've got to sit in the back...
said those who planted the bombs will "feel the full weight of justice."
"Just like those miscreants at Guantanamo!"
Obama went on national television to warn against "jumping to conclusions", but a senior White House official said such an attack was "clearly an act of terror."
Ahah. Nose/face syndrome strikes again.
Special agent Rick DesLauriers, who heads the FBI's Boston bureau, told news hounds: "It is a criminal investigation that is a potential terrorist investigation."
"Y'see, it could be Al Capone rubbing out some guys that cheesed him off, but he operated out of Chi, and he's dead now. But it could be somebody like him. Most likely it's white supremacists or Tea Partiers or something."
More than 100 people were maimed, Massachusetts governor Deval (Whoa! Nice) drapes! Patrick said, without giving an exact figure. The Boston Globe said more than 140 were hurt and that one of those killed at the scene was an eight-year-old boy.

US to go to 'ends of the Earth' to find Boston bombers
[Pak Daily Times] US Sherlocks on Tuesday pledged to go "to the ends of the Earth" to find those behind the Boston Marathon bombings that killed three people and maimed more than 170, many with horrific injuries.

Boston's Boylston Street, scene of the finish line carnage on Monday, remained sealed off as Sherlocks sought leads in the worst attack in the United States since the September 11, 2001 atrocities.

President Barack Obama
My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it...
vowed that the attackers "will feel the full weight of justice", police searched the apartment of one "person of interest" and a Saudi man remained under guard in hospital. But there were no convincing answers for a city in mourning.

"This was a heinous and cowardly act," Obama said at the White House. "Any time bombs are used to target innocent civilians, it is an act of terror."

Obama said while the impact of the attacks near the finish line of the Boston marathon on Monday, which killed three people and maimed more than 170 others, were clear, the motives and the identify of those responsible was not.

"What we don't yet know, however, is who carried out this attack or why, whether it was planned and executed by a terrorist organization, foreign or domestic, or was the act of a malevolent individual," he said.

But the president again vowed to bring whoever was behind the assault to justice, and warned that America would not be cowed by terrorism.

"We also know this -- the American people refuse to be terrorized," he said.

In frank and direct language, Obama vowed to keep Americans up to speed with developments in the investigation and asked them to remain vigilant.

"What I have indicated to you is what we now know. We know it was bombs that were set off. We know that obviously they did some severe damage. We do not know who did them," he said.

"We don't have a sense of motive yet. So everything else at this point is speculation."

No suspect was in jug though several people were being questioned in the Boston area, but the hunt was expected to expand to other countries, police and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials said.

"This will be a worldwide investigation," said Rick DesLauriers, head of the FBI's Boston office.

"We will go to the ends of the Earth to identify the subject or subjects responsible for this despicable crime," he added. "We are using full capacities of the FBI, to its fullest worldwide extent."

The two bombs, which were 13 seconds and about 100 meters apart, killed three people and injured 176, with 17 people at death's door, Boston police commissioner Ed Davis told news hounds.

US Secretary of Defence Chuck Hagel told politicians on Tuesday that the bombings appeared to be a "cruel act of terror." "There were no intelligence warnings that we know of," said Representative Peter King
...U.S. Representative for New York's 3rd (central Long Island) congressional district, serving since 1993. He is of the Publican persuasion and is known for his active support for the IRA Irish republican movement...
, a member of the House Intelligence Committee who gave details of the huge hunt launched by US authorities. "The war on terrorism is far from over, whether it is Islamic jihadists or right-wing myrmidons," he added.

Russian President Vladimir Putin
...Second President of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Because of constitutionally mandated term limits he is the current Prime Minister of Russia. His sock puppet, Dmitry Medvedev, was installed in the 2008 presidential elections. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law. During his eight years in office Russia's economy bounced back from crisis, seeing GDP increase, poverty decrease and average monthly salaries increase. During his presidency Putin passed into law a series of fundamental reforms, including a flat income tax of 13%, a reduced profits tax, and new land and legal codes. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile...
led a chorus of global condemnation, describing the twin kabooms as "barbaric".

Saudi, Gulf States, OIC Condemn Boston Bombings
[An Nahar] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in their national face...
, the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation all condemned on Tuesday the twin bombings at the Boston Marathon, calling them an act of terrorism.

Three people were killed and more than 170 maimed in the bombings in the worst attack in the United States since the September 11, 2001 atrocities.

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia sent a message of condolences to the American people, saying he was "saddened by the news of the two kabooms in Boston," state news agency SPA reported.

"We condemn these acts of terrorism targeting innocent people and committed by criminals who represent only themselves and have neither religion nor faith."

Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, secretary general of the Saudi-based Organization of Islamic Cooperation of 57 Moslem states, said in a statement that "such actions targeting an event are cowardly and reprehensible."

India-Pakistan
71 Karachi target killers released, SC told
[Pak Daily Times] The Supreme Court was told on Tuesday that at least 71 hit mans who were locked away
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!
by the Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
police but never charged for the heinous offences rather booked for minor crimes have been released on bail.

After going through joint investigation team (JIT) reports, a five-member special bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistain Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, gave 24 hours to the Sindh law enforcement agencies to arrest the people whose names have been divulged in the JIT reports and directed them to register FIRs against them and submit a report by today (Wednesday). The court was hearing the suo motu
...a legal term, from the Latin. Roughly translated it means I saw what you did, you bastard...
case regarding the worsening law and order situation in Karachi.

The bench was also told about the arrest of 68 cut-throats during targeted operations in different parts of the city that were conducted from March 1 to 31. The court sought a report about how many of them have been challaned before different courts and directed different anti-terrorist courts hearing their cases to complete trials within a week after holding day-to-day proceedings. The high court monitoring the pace of the ATCs will also ensure finalisation of the trials within the stipulated period.

Citing one of the JIT reports, the Supreme Court lamented that Muneer Ahmed who had pleaded guilty to killing 115 people was released on bail because he was not charged under Section 302 of the Pakistain Penal Code for killing but under Section 353 PPC which suggests punishment for assault on a public servant or to deter him from discharging official duties.

Likewise, in another case, Sheikh Naeem who had also confessed to killing 47 innocent people was released on bail because he was also booked under the same charge of assaulting coppers. The court questioned whether it was not a crime that the killers were never prosecuted for murder despite confessions. It asked how would law and order in Karachi improve when murderers are released because of political influence and coppers care only about their promotions and job security. "This is all a political game," Justice Ijaz observed.

The counsel for Karachi police, Shah Khawar, told the bench that out of a total of 106 cop shoppes, no-go areas exists only in the jurisdiction of seven, namely Kalakot, Pirabad, PIB Colony, Sohrab Goth, Sachal, Chaki Wara and Mangopeer. It is admitted in the report that the police still have no access to 35 percent areas of Layari. Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth ordered the space pirate fleet to attack Zemblonia...
criminals from the tribal areas also take refuge in areas adjacent to Mangopeer, it added.

Referring to a letter written by MQM leader Nasreen Jaleel about Talibanisation of Karachi, Justice Ijaz observed that those who have been in the government for the last 20 years were complaining and requesting the court to end the tendency. Meanwhile,
...back at the chili cook-off, Chuck reached for the green sauce...
the court was informed that that Pakistain People's Party (PPP) is supporting the criminal elements in Lyari, to which the chief justice remarked that every act in the city is politically motivated. The Rangers counsel stated that if armed action was taken against Lyari
...one of the eighteen constituent towns of the city of Karachi. It is the smallest town by area in the city but also the most densely populated. Lyari has few schools, substandard hospitals, a poor water system, limited infrastructure, and broken roads. It is a stronghold of ruling Pakistan Peoples Party. Ubiquitous gang activity and a thriving narcotics industry make Lyari one of the most disturbed places in Karachi, which is really saying a lot....
criminals who, he said, take shelter behind women and kiddies, a Lal Masjid-like situation could erupt and things could go out of control.

'Security a government responsibility during polls'
[Pak Daily Times] Sindh chapter of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) while expressing concern over increased incidents of terrorism against political parties and their candidates in the country demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan and caretaker governments to provide security to them.

Speaking at a press conference at his residence, Jeelani House provincial president of the party, Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that his party is concerned about the deteriorating law and order situation, especially, terrorist attacks against the PPP, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Awami National Party (ANP) leaders and their candidates.
You'd think that it would be a govt responsibility to provide security all the time, wouldn't you?
Baby steps, Fred. First they need to provide security for a single day; once they master that, in perpetuity can begin to be contemplated.

Perv disqualified from upcoming election
PESHAWAR - Lawyers say judges have disqualified Pakistan's former military ruler, Pervez Musharraf, from running in the upcoming parliamentary election.
The law community there really has it in for Perv. Something about hounding him from the ends of the earth...
Musharraf applied to run from four different districts, which is allowed in Pakistan.
And in some parts of Chicago...
Over a week ago, judges reviewing Musharraf's nomination papers disqualified him from running in three districts because he suspended the constitution while in power. But a judge in the remote northern district of Chitral gave Musharraf approval to run.

Lawyer Taufiq Asif says he challenged the decision in Chitral because of Musharraf's actions while in office and a three-member appellate tribunal disqualified the former military ruler from running on Tuesday. Musharraf can appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court.
Packed with Chaudrays. Don't look for a favorable ruling there...

#2  Thanks to the Sequester + overall US Debt = Entitlement Burden ...

> No US Airpower.
> No USN CVNS or Gator Amphibs.
> No heavy Armor, Mech forces.
> As of this Guam AM, potentially NO USMC.

Other to come, e.g NO REPLACEMENTS FOR ISRAELI IDF LOSSES IFF A NEW "YOM KIPPUR II" MAJOR WAR EVER OCCURS - NO POTUS' NIXON, REAGAN, OR BUSHES, + NO US NUCLEAR UMBRELLA EITHER???

WHATS THERE FOR OWG CALIPHATE-HAPPY IRAN = "POST-US" CHINA = "DPRK" = ... ... @??? NOT TO LIKE!?

Perhaps the best of all, espec for CHINA, US MONETARY EASING = US TO KEEP BORROWING US$85.0BILYUHN PER MONTH TIMES 12 MONTH TIMES ONE YEAR TIMES TEN YEARS [or more]???

Under the POTUS Bammer Admin, the US is already accumulating 2013-Jan 2017 such new Debt that it wasn't forecasted to accumulate until close to 2020 or after.

Iff one believes that the Bammer is an anti-US Marxist-Anarchist-Globalist, then by extension its in China's = Iran's, etc. interests to ensure a similar or worse POTUS is elected in the US come Nov 2016 = Jan 2017.

Syria to play stronger role in region after crisis ends: Iran MP
[Iran Press TV] Senior Iranian politician Alaeddin Boroujerdi says Syria will play a stronger role in the region after the restoration of calm in the crisis-hit country.

"Resistance of the Syrian people and government against pressures exerted by the world powers will protect the country against foreigners' avarice in the future," the chairman of Iran Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee said in a meeting with new Syrian ambassador to Tehran, Adnan Mahmoud, on Tuesday.

The Iranian politician reaffirmed the Islamic Theocratic Republic's support for Syria and added that the Syrian government and people will proudly end the ongoing crisis in the country, and "will not allow the [current] foreign conspiracy undermine the independence and illusory sovereignty of Syria."

Mahmoud, for his part, lauded the strategic relations between Iran and Syria, and urged more cooperation between the two countries to boost the resistance front against the Zionist regime of Israel.

"The ongoing developments in Syria have prompted the countries in the region and the world to reconsider their views about us, and recognize Syria as a powerful country...," he added.

Iran Says May Need More Heavily Enriched Uranium
[Ynet] Iran's nuclear chief is saying the country may need to obtain uranium enriched to a higher percentage than what it currently produces.

A Tuesday report by the semi-official Fars news agency quotes Fereidoun Abbasi as saying that Iran has no plan to enrich beyond 20 percent, "but in some special cases like ship and submarines, where we must manufacture small engines, it requires fuel enriched up to 56 percent." It was the first time an Iranian government official spoke about higher enrichment.

Iran informs IAEA nuclear facilities unharmed by quake
Azerbaijan -- The IAEA's Incident and Emergency Centre (IEC) contacted the Iran Nuclear Regulatory Authority (INRA) concerning the 7.8 magnitude earthquake which occurred at 12:44 UTC today in the south-east of the country. INRA informed the IEC that the earthquake caused no damage to the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant or other nuclear facilities, IAEA reported.
Turn up the juice and hit 'em again...
The IAEA has made an offer of good offices to Iran, indicating it is ready to help the country obtain any assistance required to ensure the safety of radioactive sources such as medical equipment that may have been affected by the earthquake. The offer is in line with IAEA's IEC routine procedures after strong earthquakes that might affect nuclear or radiological safety.

INRA said records showed no fixed high-level radiation sources were installed in the area of the earthquake, which struck near Iran's border with Pakistan. It is noted that this is one of the most powerful earthquakes to hit Iran over the past 40 years.
