Human leg found abandoned on New York Subway track
[NBCnews] The NYPD said the leg was found at about 1 p.m. ET on Saturday in the Concourse neighborhood of the Bronx.

A human leg has been found abandoned on a New York subway track, police said, sparking an investigation into who it once belonged to and how they lost it.

The NYPD said the leg was found at about 1 p.m. ET on Saturday in the Concourse neighborhood of the Bronx, between 167th Street and 170th Street, on the line of the 4 train, according to a statement given to NBC 4 New York.

No details were released about the leg, such as whether it appears to be from a male or female, nor the possible age of its owner.

New York's medical examiner is now examining the leg to find out more details and potentially solve the mystery.

#1  A disembodied human leg found on Bronx subway tracks could be the partial remains of a man dragged for miles that were then hidden for days, according to police sources.

Authorities were puzzled when a man’s left leg was discovered in the path of a northbound 4 train between the 167th Street subway stop and 170th Street subway stop around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The leg was taken to the medical examiner’s office to be tested, but authorities believe it was separated from a man hit by a train miles away and days earlier, sources told The Post.

Prosecutor says 2 charged for Kansas City rally mass shooting
[GEO.TV] Some days after the fatal mass shooting that killed one during Kansas City Chiefs’ rally celebration, two people have been charged for their conduct in the deadly gun violence Tuesday, according to Jackson County prosecutor.

Two males Lyndell Mays, of Raytown, and Dominic M. Miller, of Kansas City, are facing the charges of illegal use of a weapon, second-degree murder, and two counts of criminal action involving arms Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker’s office said.

They are in jug on a $1 million bond.

Investigators revealed that Mays was verbally arguing with a person which turned into a shooting as he pulled his firearm. Others including Miller also did the same and started mass shooting during the Kansas City Chiefs’ rally.

They were unaware of each other before that day, according to the prosecutor Baker, who also noted that the defendants were hospitalized and in jug since the shooting.

Miller’s handgun was the one that caused the killing of Lisa Lopez-Galvan — the mother of a local DJ host. However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
murder charges are being faced by the two.

Separately, two other teenagers are facing the charges of resisting arrest and they are held in a Juvenile Detention Center, noted Baker. She also hinted toward further arrests.

The prosecutor’s announcement was a week after the mass shooting claimed the life of Lopez-Galvan, injuring over 20 others, including children.

"We seek to hold every shooter accountable for their actions," Baker said.

The Gun Violence Archive revealed that this was the 48th mass shooting of this year in the US.

A mass shooting is an incident in which at least four are shot except the shooter.

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly ordered flags to be flown at half-staff Saturday in remembrance of Lopez-Galvan.

This shooting was the second during this year’s major sports title celebrations since June in which two people were maimed as Denver supporters left a parade for the NBA’s Nuggets.

I guess Real & Living Kansas Voters are fed-up and must have really caused a Political $hit storm, for the PC playing liberal DA to finally do something.

But only 2nd degree murder?
Sentencing for second degree murder in Kansas is just a sentence of 10 to 25 years.

#2  It's difficult to show that a bystander killed by a shooter's actions was "premeditated." Yes, what did they expect to happen when they shot into a crowd with weapons they consciously chose in advance to bring to the event? But it's impossible to say they intended in advance to kill that woman they didn't even know.

#3  ..and its Kansas City, Missouri.

If the defendant is facing voluntary manslaughter, this is second-degree murder, a Class B felony. The sentence will be between 5 and 15 years in prison. They choose the right side of the river to do it.

College reinstates biology professor who was fired after teaching sex is determined by X and Y chromosomes
[FoxNews] The law firm representing Dr. Johnson Varkey said he will resume teaching by this fall.

A biology professor who was fired from a Texas community college for teaching students that X and Y chromosomes determine sex has been reinstated.

First Liberty Institute, a law firm that defends religious liberty for Americans, announced in a Tuesday press release that St. Philip's College in San Antonio, Texas, had reinstated Dr. Johnson Varkey, a former adjunct professor, a year after he was terminated.

The law firm noted they had filed a charge of discrimination at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against St. Philip's and the Alamo Community College District (ACCD) earlier this year.

"We are happy that the Alamo Community College District voluntarily reinstated Dr. Varkey," Kayla Toney, Associate Counsel for First Liberty Institute, said. "He is excited by this outcome, and we are glad that ACCD did the right thing. Dr. Varkey looks forward to continuing to educate students at ACCD."

First Liberty revealed the parties had reached a "favorable settlement," which, "among other provisions," guarantees that Varkey will be back in the classroom teaching by fall 2024.

The law firm previously sent a letter to St. Philip's College on behalf of Varkey, demanding the institution reinstate him after he was fired in January 2023.

"When teaching the human reproductive system, Dr. Varkey also stated that human sex is determined by chromosomes X and Y, and that reproduction must occur between a male and a female to continue the human species," First Liberty stated last June. "In the course of teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology, he made these statements in every class for 20 years, without any incident or complaint."

Complaints against Varkey that ultimately led to his firing said he had engaged in "religious preaching, discriminatory comments about homosexuals and transgender individuals, anti-abortion rhetoric, and misogynistic banter" and that his teaching "pushed beyond the bounds of academic freedom with [his] personal opinions that were offensive to many individuals in the classroom," according to a letter from the law firm.

On November 28, 2022, four of Varkey's students walked out of his class when he stated that sex was determined by X and Y chromosomes, just as he had done dozens of times before.

First Liberty argued his teachings are supported by his education and experience in his field, as well as his religious beliefs, but "throughout his employment, he never discussed with any student his personal views—religious or otherwise—on human gender or sexuality."

As an adjunct professor, Varkey taught Human Anatomy and Physiology at St. Philip's College to more than 1,500 students for 22 years, where he taught the same principles he was fired for this year, according to First Liberty.

First Liberty, at the time, said the college participated in unlawful religious discrimination in employment under the First Amendment and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, arguing Varkey "believes that he is obligated as a Christian and as a professor to teach accurate, true concepts that comport with his many years of research and study in the field of human biology."

Several members of Congress weighed in after the lawsuit was filed and called for Varkey to be reinstated.

St. Philip's College did not return Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Trans inmate who killed baby and identifies as Muslim woman sues chaplain for allegedly not allowing hijab
[FoxNews] Inmate who killed stepdaughter in 2001 now identifies as an 'Islamic practicing transwoman'

A transgender inmate serving a 55-year sentence for strangling his 11-month-old stepdaughter to death filed a civil lawsuit against the prison chaplain for allegedly prohibiting him from wearing a hijab outside his immediate bed quarters, despite identifying as a Muslim woman.

Autumn Cordellionè, also known as Jonathan C. Richardson, is currently serving out his sentence at the Branchville Correctional Facility, an Indiana Department of Correction state prison for men.

According to the lawsuit filed Nov. 30 and obtained by Fox News Digital, a prison chaplain told Richardson the hijab was not allowed to be worn outside his immediate bed area. Richardson is seeking $150,000 in damages and the ability to wear the hijab "anywhere I go within the facility."

"I informed him that I wear the hajib [sic] in order to cover my head and ears for modesty purposes, as I am an Islamic practicing transwoman," Richardson said in the lawsuit.

The chaplain then proceeded to inform Richardson that his listed religious preference is "Wiccan," a pagan Earth-centered religion with a male god and moon goddess, "and I responded that I am an eclectic practitioner who is a member of the Theosophical Society in America," Richardson alleged in the complaint.

"I practice a diversity of faiths in order to custom tailor my spiritual beliefs to my spiritual needs," Richardson said in the lawsuit.
That’s not how it works in prison.
Richardson claimed his 14th amendment, or equal protection clause, was violated by the chaplain's alleged refusal to let him wear the hijab.

"Male Islamic practitioners are allowed to wear their kufis across the facility, and are not restricted to their bed areas only," the complaint stated.

He further alleged the chaplain violated his Eighth Amendment rights against cruel and unusual punishment and claimed he was subject to "harassment and ridicule" by other Muslim prisoners.

"He should be aware, as Chaplain, the stigma and shame that is attributed to Islamic women when they go uncovered and without a hijab [sic]," Richardson wrote in the complaint. "Women are viewed as whores, tempters of men, and adulterators; by Islamic society both in and out of prison. I have been shunned, made a social pariah, and amongst my own religious community."
Yes, but because you are mentally ill, not because you’re a bad Moslem girl.
Fox News Digital reached out to the Indiana Department of Corrections for comment from the chaplain, but the facility said they do not comment on pending litigation. The chaplain also could not be reached.

Fox News Digital previously reported Richardson, who was convicted of reckless homicide after strangling his 11-month-old stepdaughter to death in 2001, was suing the Indiana Department of Corrections for not granting his wish to get sex reassignment surgery.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is representing Richardson in that lawsuit.

An Indiana law, adopted last summer, prohibits the Department of Corrections from using taxpayer dollars to fund sex reassignment surgeries for inmates. However, the ACLU argues in the lawsuit, filed on Aug. 28, 2023, that the law is a violation of the Eighth Amendment’s prohibition of "cruel and unusual punishment."

He isn’t the only one cosplaying as Moslem:

Unruly American Airlines passenger restrained by others after attempting to open emergency door in-flight
[FoxNews] The plane returned to Albuquerque International Sunport following the incident that saw an social media personality help subdue the man

An American Airlines flight was forced to return to New Mexico after a passenger attempted to open the emergency door mid-flight on Tuesday.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and American Airlines confirmed with Fox News Digital, that AA flight 1219, which was headed to Chicago International Airport, was forced to return to Albuquerque International Sunport.

A passenger on the plane, Don, who is the globetrotting host of Barstool Sports' "Donnie Does," said that the in-flight disturbance happened approximately 30 minutes after the Boeing 737's departure.

"At the moment there was just too much going on to be panicking, but it was very scary," Don told Fox News Digital.

The media personality said that he was drifting off to sleep when he was suddenly awakened by an out-of-control passenger.

Don said that he "jumped out of his seat" and joined the other four passengers who were working to subdue the passenger who was attempting to open the emergency door.
A pack, not a herd.
"Once we got him off of the door, we moved him to the aisle, and we all held down his legs and arms," Don said.

Eventually, an American Airlines flight attendant came over and duct taped his legs and used flex cuffs to restrain him.
Shoulda tightened one on his neck
Video from Don showed the group of men restraining the passenger as the flight attendant duct taped his legs together.

They placed him at the back of the plane, where there was an empty row, Don said.

Following the incident, the plane diverted back to Albuquerque International Sunport, where the unruly passenger was immediately arrested by local law enforcement.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, the Albuquerque Division of the FBI said that they are investigating the incident.

Real Estate Investor Grant Cardone Says He Won't Invest in NY, Will Double Efforts in Red States
[RedState] Real estate investor Grant Cardone posted on X that his company, CardoneCapital, had initiated research into potential investments in New York. However,
the hip bone's connected to the leg bone...
former President Trump was ordered to pay $355 million following a civil fraud ruling.

Cardone said his team will double their efforts to find real estate properties in several red states, including Florida, Texas, and Tennessee.

As RedState reported, Elena Cardone, Grant's wife, set up a GoFundMe page to help Trump pay the $355 million. So far, they have raised over half a million dollars.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul tried to reassure folks that they would not be fined for doing business in New York.

I think that this is really an extraordinary, unusual circumstance that the law-abiding and rule-following New Yorkers who are business people have nothing to worry about, because they’re very different than Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
and his behavior.

By and large, they are honest people and they’re not trying to hide their assets and they’re following the rules.

And so this judge determined that Donald Trump did not follow the rules. He was prosecuted and truly, the governor of the state of New York does not have a say in the size of a fine, and we want to make sure that we don’t have that level of interference.

Well, it does not seem like her message is resonating with real estate investors and other entrepreneurs. Cardone is well-known in the real estate industry and seems to have many connections, which could hurt New York more than some might think.

Cardone is not the only entrepreneur deciding not to do any business in New York. As RedState reported, Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary, also known as "Mr. Wonderful" said he would never invest in New York now. O'Leary also noted that "every real estate developer does this" regarding the court ruling of Trump, as well as refuting Hochul's claim that those who do business in New York are "very different than Donald Trump."

O'Leary called Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, a "loser state," and New York a "mega-loser state." Instead, he will invest in red states such as North Dakota, Oklahoma, and West Virginia.

Leadership matters as red states are gaining more investors and entrepreneurs while blue states are seeing a population and business exodus.

They get you coming and going. When a buddy moved to Cali for a job decades ago, the state charged him something like $800 just to bring his car into the state. Title and registration extra. No doubt the cost has increased.

The way to work around any constitutional issues is to call it a fee instead of a tax. The Supreme Court is happy to go along with this. Assuming you have standing, of course.

Africa Horn
Death of aviation worker sparks row in Somalia
[Garowe] The death of a seasoned aviation officer has sparked yet another conflict in Somalia, with the breakaway region of Somaliland
...Republic of Somaliland is an unrecognised sovereign state in the Horn of Africa, recognised internationally as a de jure part of Somalia. It is located in the southern coast of the Gulf of Aden with approximately 5.7 million residents as of 2021. The capital and largest city is Hargeisa. The government regards itself as the successor state to British Somaliland, which united from 1960 to 1991 with the Trust Territory of Somaliland (the former Italian Somaliland) to form the Somali Republic. Under the Siad Barre regime, Somaliadestroyed ninety percent of Hargeisa Per international law, once you're in, you gotta stay in, no matter how bad it smells....
suspecting foul play just as the country struggles with internal strife including the recent controversial deal signed by Æthiopia and Somaliland.

In a statement, Somaliland’s Civil Aviation and Airports Authority said it’s urgently reviewing the situation of workers from Somaliland who are currently working for the Somali Civil Aviation Authority as part of the then civil aviation caretaker program created by ICAO according to a statement by Somaliland TV.

The statement comes moments after police in Mogadishu recovered the dead body of Abdinasir Muse Abdirahman, an employee of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority who was born in Somaliland. Police said six suspects have been arrested and an investigation is underway.

Without giving evidence, officials in Somaliland have blamed the federal government of Somalia for the death of the civil aviation employee whose body was found in a house in southern Mogadishu on Sunday.

Reached out by VOA, Deputy Info Minister Abdurahman Yusuf al-Addala says Somalia police are conducting an investigation and have arrested suspects; he says the government will wait for the outcome of that investigation before commenting.

A report seen by Garowe Online shows that the dear departed was found in his residence within the El Qaalow neighbourhood, Wadajir district. Muse, 32, was born in Gebiley, northwest [Somaliland] and worked at the Somali Civil Aviation Authority.

The incident comes at the time Somalia is at loggerheads with authorities in the region of Somaliland, who recently signed a deal with Æthiopia. The deal, details made public indicate, would see Æthiopia getting 20 kilometers of Red Sea in exchange for Somaliland's recognition as a sovereign state.
Abdinasir Muse Dahable, an employee of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority of Somalia, was found dead last night at his home in Mogadishu.

The Mogadishu airport officer is reported to have died after being tortured and strangled to death, although there is no official information that can confirm this claim.

The Somali police said that six suspects have been arrested for the murder of the late Abdinasir Muse, 32 years old, whose body was found in his residence in El-Qalow village.

Police said they have conducted an investigation and have evidence from the crime scene.

The slain man has recently returned from studying abroad and graduated in the science of Air Navigation from a university in the UK. He was one of the ICAO staff in Hargeisa.

New RISK WARNING: Somalia ATC Conflict
[ShabelleMedia] Over the weekend, OPSGROUP has received at least 10 reports of aircraft within the Mogadishu FIR being contacted by a ‘fake controller’ on the same frequency, issuing conflicting instructions.

Crews have been issued climb and descent clearances that are not from the sector controller. Incidents have been reported mostly in the northern part of Mogadishu airspace.

The situation emanates from a political dispute between Somaliland and Somalia, two different countries, though the former does not have international recognition. Both countries now claim authority over the Mogadishu FIR.

The background to the situation is an escalating political dispute between Somaliland and Somalia. Somaliland has been an independent country since 1991, but without international recognition. Somaliland has to date maintained control over its airports, but Somalia controls the upper airspace from Mogadishu.

In January 2024, Ethiopia signed an agreement with Somaliland, essentially exchanging port rights on the Red Sea for recognition of their country. This was met with condemnation by Somalia. Somalia, in response, began restricting movements into Somaliland by way of denying airspace entry to the Mogadishu FIR in some instances. This has led to Somaliland declaring its right to exercise control over their airspace.

The net result is an airspace dispute between the two territories. Both Somalia and Somaliland now claim the right to control traffic. This is why crews have been contacted by other “controllers” on 132.5 (VHF) and 11300 (HF). Although it is likely that these other “controllers” are genuine Air Traffic Controllers, they are operating outside their area of jurisdiction as things stand.

Currently, the authority over the entire Mogadishu FIR is Mogadishu Control. They remain the sole authority to control, coordinate, and provide ATS services in the Upper FIR. The secondary transmissions are coming from Hargeisa in Somaliland. Although the motive for these transmissions can be understood, they present clear danger to enroute traffic. The transmissions appear to attempt to mimic Mogadishu rather than present as “Hargeisa Control”, “Somaliland Control”, or any clear differentiator from Mogadishu.

It would also appear from the reports that we have received, that the control instructions are not being issued to de-conflict traffic, but rather to create confusion. This may be an effort to draw attention to the airspace issue, but could have tragic consequences. For flight crews, we follow with some guidance to mitigate the situation.

The situation is volatile and may escalate. On Sunday, February 18, an AIS Officer from Somaliland, working in Mogadishu, was found dead at his home. His death appears related to this situation.

Somalia accuses northern region of disrupting airspace

[Garowe] Somalia has rebuked the northern region of Somaliland
...Republic of Somaliland is an unrecognised sovereign state in the Horn of Africa, recognised internationally as a de jure part of Somalia. It is located in the southern coast of the Gulf of Aden with approximately 5.7 million residents as of 2021. The capital and largest city is Hargeisa. for what it called 'unwarranted' disruptions of its airspace, in what could trigger yet another conflict, in the middle of simmering tensions within the Horn of Africa.

Somaliland broke away from Somalia but it has never been internationally recognized and remains part of Somalia’s terrorism integrity and illusory sovereignty. The prolonged conflict has escalated in recent times, following Somaliland’s deal with Æthiopia, which will see the latter get a portion of the Red Sea.

On Monday, the Somali Civil Aviation Authority said it had taken tougher measures to control the country's airspace. This action, it noted, follows the disruption of air traffic services over specific areas in the northern regions, deemed a violation of domestic and international aviation regulations.

The SCAA expresses concern that these disruptions were initiated by the administration of the northwest regions, potentially motivated by "external influences and self-serving interests." It did not mention entities believed to be behind disruptions.

According to the Somali government, it has consistently issued warnings and notifications to uphold flight safety, urging cooperation from the regional administration. However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
these warnings have reportedly been disregarded, the statement reads.

"The Somali government remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of its airspace," stated the SCAA in a blurb.

"We have proactively issued warnings and notifications to all relevant parties, including the international community. Unfortunately, the regional administration has not responded as expected."

The SCAA emphasized that further actions may be necessary to safeguard Somali Civil Aviation. "The Somali government will have to take tougher measures to ensure the security and the safety of Somali Civil Aviation," they said.

Last month, Somalia’s civil aviation authority changed the channel of communication with airlines using Somalia airspace after reporting "VHF interference [on frequency] within the vicinity of Hargeisa" as a source put it.

Flights within the area have been informed not to expect level change unless they are in contact with Mogadishu via datalink, the source said. The protracted tensions have caught the attention of the international community, which is pushing for dialogue between Æthiopia and Somalia.

Powder Keg Afrika: Guinea Ruling Military Junta Dissolves Government, Closes All Borders
[Gateway] In the context of France’s declining influence on Africa and a growing Islamist threat, several countries are living in troubled times, with military coups and other ruptures in their democratic processes.

Not certain why you might want to but here it is.

Reuters reported:

"Guinea’s self-appointed military leaders have dissolved the government and will appoint a new one, the presidency’s secretary general said in a filmed statement on Monday.

The West African country has been under military rule since a junta seized power in a September 2021 coup."

Africa’s main economic and political bloc, ECOWAS, has been pressuring for the junta to hold elections and restore civilian rule. A 24-month transition timeline was agreed to in on October 2022.

"The presidency’s secretary general, Amara Camara, unexpectedly announced on Monday that the government had been dissolved.

Without providing a reason for the move, he said in a pre-recorded video posted on the presidency’s social media channels that directors of cabinet, secretary generals and their deputies would be in charge until a new government was formed."

#1  The ANC has been in government since the end of the apartheid system of white minority rule in 1994 but has seen its support gradually wane over the last 30 years, largely because of its failure to deliver jobs, housing and services to millions of poor people.

#7  South Africa
South Africa has the third-highest crime rate in the world. South Africa has a notably high rate of assaults, rape, homicides, and other violent crimes. This has been attributed to several factors, including high levels of poverty, inequality, unemployment, and social exclusion, and the normalization of violence. South Africa has one of the highest rape rates in the world. More than 1 in 4 men surveyed by the South African Medical Research Council admitted to committing rape.

Caribbean-Latin America
Javier Milei Delivers Argentina's First Budget Surplus in Over a Decade
[Red State] Argentinian President Javier Milei’s figurative chainsawing of the government bureaucracy appears to be paying off — and he is only about two months into his presidency. The country reported its first monthly budget surplus in almost 12 years, signaling a seismic shift in policy under Milei’s administration.

This achievement marks a tremendous accomplishment under its new libertarian leader, who ran on a platform of shrinking the government as much as possible.
The government of Argentina has posted its first monthly budget surplus in more than a decade — a major milestone for the new libertarian president, Javier Milei. His economic and budgetary reforms still face an uphill battle in his legislature, however.

With inflation and poverty ravaging much of the country, Mr. Milei’s stated goal of "shock therapy" for the nation has been met with adulation from ideologues young and old, and scorn from union bosses.

The nearly $600 million monthly surplus is the first to occur since August 2012, and the monthly inflation rate even fell in January to 20.6 percent from 25.5 percent. "The zero deficit is not negotiable," the Economy Minister, Luis Caputo, says on X.

On February 2, the chamber of deputies passed a framework agreement for Mr. Milei’s reforms aimed at privatizing state companies, deregulating the economy, and making changes to the nation’s criminal and environmental laws. The legislature is still debating the fine text of the package, but if it passes, it would mark a significant victory for Mr. Milei’s libertarian theory of governance.

"They understood the historical context and chose to end the privileges of the caste and the corporate republic, in favor of the people, who have been impoverished and are hungry," Mr. Milei said after the lower chamber passed the preliminary motion on his reform package.

This is pretty impressive considering that January was Milei’s first full month running the country. Pulling off this type of fiscal outcome is a significant feat considering that it includes the interest payment on the public debt.

Milei’s tenure has already been characterized by bold, sweeping reforms intended to shrink the size of the government and allow for more freedom in Argentina’s economy. Shortly after taking the reins, Milei began slashing government agencies, especially those intended for useless programs intended to push a decidedly leftist agenda.
