Not Being Stupid Is ‘Cognitive Privilege' Now, Which Is Just Like White Privilege
h/t Instapundit
The University of Iowa’s student newspaper has announced the discovery of a special privilege which intelligent people acquire as an accident of birth. This new privilege -- called "cognitive privilege" -- functions in essentially the same way as white privilege.

Caribbean-Latin America
U.S. vows 'strong and swift' response to Venezuelan election
Moved to Page 3

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States vowed "strong and swift actions against the architects of authoritarianism" on Sunday in response to what it called a flawed election in Venezuela of a constitutional super-body under leftist President Nicolas Maduro.

"The United States stands by the people of Venezuela, and their constitutional representatives, in their quest to restore their country to a full and prosperous democracy," the U.S. State Department said in a statement.

"We will continue to take strong and swift actions against the architects of authoritarianism in Venezuela, including those who participate in the National Constituent Assembly as a result of today's flawed election," it said.

The State Department condemned violence by Venezuelan authorities against protesters and urged governments in the region and around the world "to hold accountable those who undermine democracy, deny human rights, bear responsibility for violence and repression, or engage in corrupt practices."

Oh noes, not the dreaded sternly worded letters!

Venezuela: more than 8 million grant government more power
CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) ‐ Venezuelan electoral authorities said more than 8 million people voted Sunday to create a constitutional assembly endowing President Nicolas Maduro's ruling socialist party with virtually unlimited powers ‐ a report more than double the estimates of independent experts and opposition leaders who met the announcement with fury and derision.

National Electoral Council President Tibisay Lucena announced just before midnight that turnout was 41.53 percent, or 8,089,320 people. Members of the opposition said they believed between 2 million and 3 million people voted and one well-respected independent analysis put the number at 3.6 million.

The electoral council's vote counts in the past have traditionally been seen as reliable and generally accurate, but Sunday's widely mocked announcement appeared certain to escalate the polarization and political conflict paralyzing the country.

"The people have delivered the constitutional assembly," Maduro said on national television. "More than 8 million in the middle of threats ... it's when imperialism challenges us that we prove ourselves worthy of the blood of the liberators that runs through the veins of men, women, children and young people."

Across the capital, Venezuelans had appeared to be staying away from the polls in huge numbers in a show of protest against the vote. Venezuela's chief prosecutor's office reported 10 deaths in new rounds of the clashes between protesters and police that have killed at least 125 and wounded nearly 2,000 since protests began in April. Seven police officers were wounded when a fiery explosion went off as they drove past piles of trash that had been used to blockade a street in an opposition stronghold in eastern Caracas.

"If it wasn't a tragedy ... if it didn't mean more crisis, the electoral council's number would almost make you laugh," opposition leader Freddy Guevara said on Twitter. Maduro has threatened that one of the constitutional assembly's first acts would be jailing Guevara for inciting violence.

An estimated 3.6 million participated in the vote, according to one exit poll based on surveys from 110 voting centers conducted by New York investment bank Torino Capital and a Venezuela public opinion company. That number equates to about 18.5 percent of registered voters.

"The results thus suggest that the government maintains an important loyal core of supporters that it can mobilize in both electoral and non-electoral scenarios," the report concluded.

The same exit poll also noted that Venezuela has an estimated 2.6 million government employees, "suggesting that a large fraction of the votes could have not been voluntary."

A list of nations including Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Spain, Britain and the United States said they would not recognize Sunday's vote. The Trump administration again promised "strong and swift actions" against Venezuelan officials, including the 545 participants in the constitutional assembly, many of them low-ranking party members. The U.S. did not say whether it would sanction Venezuelan oil imports, a measure with the potential to destabilize Maduro's government and deepen the country's humanitarian crisis.

Maduro said he had received congratulations from the governments of Cuba, Bolivia and Nicaragua, among others.

Across this capital of more than 2 million people, dozens of polling places were virtually empty Sunday, including many that in previous elections saw hours-long lines of thousands voting to keep the government in power over the last two decades.

At the Poliedro sports and cultural complex in western Caracas, several thousand people waited about two hours to vote, many drawn from opposition-dominated neighborhoods where polling places were closed. But at least three dozen other sites visited by The Associated Press had no more than a few hundred voters at any one time, with many virtually empty.

Opposition leaders had called for a boycott of the vote, declaring it rigged for the ruling party, and by late afternoon they were declaring the apparent low turnout to be a resounding victory. Ahead of the vote, the opposition organized a series of work stoppages as well as a July 16 protest vote that it said drew more than 7.5 million symbolic votes against the constitutional assembly.

"It's very clear to us that the government has suffered a defeat today," said Julio Borges, president of the opposition-controlled but largely powerless National Assembly. "This vote brings us closer to the government leaving power."

Opposition leader Henrique Capriles urged Venezuelans to protest again Monday.

Maduro called the vote for a constitutional assembly in May after a month of protests against his government, which has overseen Venezuela's descent into a devastating crisis during its four years in power. Thanks to plunging oil prices and widespread corruption and mismanagement, Venezuela's inflation and homicide rates are among the world's highest, and widespread shortages of food and medicine have citizens dying of preventable illnesses and rooting through trash to feed themselves.

The winners among the 5,500 ruling-party candidates running for 545 seats in the constituent assembly will have the task of rewriting the country's constitution and will have powers above and beyond other state institutions, including the opposition-controlled congress.

Maduro made clear in a televised address Saturday that he intends to use the assembly not just to rewrite the country's charter but to govern without limitation. Describing the vote as "the election of a power that's above and beyond every other," Maduro said he wants the assembly to strip opposition lawmakers and governors of constitutional immunity from prosecution ‐ one of the few remaining checks on ruling party power.

Declaring the opposition "already has its prison cell waiting," Maduro added: "All the criminals will go to prison for the crimes they've committed."

He said the new assembly would begin to govern within a week, with its first task in rewriting the constitution to be "a total transformation" of the office of Venezuela's chief prosecutor, a former government loyalist who has become the highest-ranking official to publicly split from the president.

"People aren't in agreement with this," Daniel Ponza, a drywall contractor, said Sunday as he watched a few dozen people outside a polling place in El Valle, a traditional stronghold of the ruling Chavista movement in western Caracas. "People are dying of hunger, looking for food in the trash. And I think this is just going to make things worse."

Still, for many others, the looming likelihood of authoritarian government was appealing after months of street blockades and street clashes.

Sculptor Ricardo Avendano traveled from the opposition-dominated eastern neighborhood of Las Mercedes to vote at the Poliedro complex, saying the government needed total power to control food prices and shut down protests.

"The most important thing is imposing order," he said. "If I'd been president there wouldn't be protesters in the streets. They'd be prisoners."
A democrat wet dream!

Following this attack, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the Islamic State’s positions and cutoff one of the terrorist group’s most important supply lines to the provincial cemetery.

Iraqis say they foiled IS plan to attack revered shrines
[IsraelTimes] Iraqi and Russian Arclight airstrikes hit jacket wallahs in Iraq and Syria, averting planned assaults on Karbala, Najaf

Iraqi intelligence officials said Sunday they foiled an attempt by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group to attack revered Shiite shrines and the sect’s spiritual leader.

The IS plan was to launch a series of suicide kabooms in Karbala and Najaf that house the shrines as well as the home of Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, two officers told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

The simultaneous Arclight airstrikes by Iraqi and Russian air forces two weeks ago hit gatherings of suicide bombers in the Iraqi town of Qaim and in Syria’s Mayadeen area, both under IS control.

They gave no details on casualties.

Recent meetings with the Russians yielded increased intelligence sharing between the two nations, they said.

Both spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media.

The members of Ahrar al-Sham allegedly defected to Faylaq al-Rahman, a group that is allied with Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham in the East Ghouta.

The opposition activists claimed that the Ahrar al-Sham defectors belonged to an anti-armored regiment that was stationed in the town of Irbeen.

This latest report comes as rumors of infighting between Harakat Ahrar al-Sham members have spread in the East Ghouta.

The Grand Turk
1 Dead, 4 Hurt in Attack on Beach Clubs in Turkey's Bodrum
[AnNahar] A Ottoman Turkish teenager was killed and four other people maimed Sunday when a gunman opened fire on two beach clubs in the upscale Aegean resort of Bodrum in western The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, reports said.

The gunman in the early hours of Sunday shot indiscriminately 26 times around two nightclubs on the seafront in the popular resort, the Hurriyet daily said.

Assistant waiter Furkan Say, 18, later died of his wounds in hospital. Two other waiters were maimed as well as one customer. Also hurt was the wife of Ottoman Turkish TV personality Jess Molho, Zeynep, who was present at the club, it said.

There was no information on the identity or motive of the gunman and Hurriyet said police were seeking to catch the perpetrator.

Iraq
Turkish warplanes bomb northern Iraq
[aalMasdar] The Ottoman Turkish Air Force resumed aerial bombardment of northern Iraq, Saturday, targeting the alleged positions of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in the Duhok region, the Bas News Agency reported this afternoon.

According to a resident that spoke to the Bas News Agency, the Ottoman Turkish jets specifically targeted the PKK’s positions in the Rashava Valley of the Deraluk parish, as well as the Nerwa and Rekan districts of Shiladze.

Ankara has caused problems in the past with Baghdad over the constant bombardment of the PKK’s forces near the Ottoman Turkish border, prompting Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-’Abadi to issue a stern warning to Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
and his regime.

The Ottoman Turkish Air Force has been conducting Arclight airstrikes along the Iraqi border for a few days now; however, Baghdad has yet to comment on these latest attacks.

Syrian military resumes east Damascus offensive after short hiatus
[AlMasdar] The Syrian military resumed their offensive in the eastern suburbs of Damascus, Sunday, following the rejection of a ceasefire offered to Faylaq Al-Rahman militants in exchange for the expulsion of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham from the East Ghouta region.

To begin the day, Syrian jets flying from a nearby airbase pounded the ‘Ayn Tarma Triangle where a large number of Faylaq Al-Rahman militants were present.

Targeting the militant areas around the Sonbol Station, Syrian jets hammered Faylaq Al-Rahman militants for much of the morning, while their allies from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) heavily shelled the latter’s positions.

As of now, the Syrian Arab Army is still pounding Faylaq Al-Rahman’s positions with heavy artillery shells; however, they are preparing to launch a ground assault that will target the militant group’s last positions around the Sonbol Station.

Syrian Army kills scores of Islamists in new east Damascus advance

[AlMasdar] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) unleashed a vicious assault on the east Damascus suburb of ‘Ayn Tarma, Sunday, storming Faylaq Al-Rahman’s defenses from several axes.

The assault started early on Sunday morning when the Syrian Air Force (SyAAF) repeatedly bombed Faylaq Al-Rahman’s positions in the ‘Ayn Tarma Triangle.

Following the airstrikes, the Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard and 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division began their assault on ‘Ayn Tarma by launching a barrage of mortar shells and surface-to-surface missiles.

Once the mortar and missile fire subsided, the Syrian Arab Army attack Faylaq Al-Rahman’s defenses from several axes, advancing near the Sonbol Station after fierce clashes.

According to a source from the 42nd Brigade, Faylaq Al-Rahman suffered more than 30 dead or wounded during the Syrian Army’s onslaught today.

The source added that many of Faylaq Al-Rahman’s wounded fighters were transferred to field hospitals in Irbeen and Madyra.

Syrian jet annihilates an entire ISIL force in east Hama
[AlMasdar] Minutes ago, a Syrian jet carried out an imperative Arclight airstrike over the eastern countryside of the Hama Governorate, wiping out an entire Islamic State

(ISIS) force near Salamiyah City.

According to local journalists in Salamiyah, the Islamic State force traveling in the eastern countryside of Salamiyah was comprised of at least 18 Death Eaters ‐ all were killed by the Syrian Arclight airstrike.

With thousands of fighters deployed east of Salamiyah, the Syrian Air Force has stepped up their Arclight airstrikes over the Islamic State’s positions in the Hama Governorate.

A source in eastern Hama told al-Masdar that this week alone, the Syrian Air Force has doubled their total amount of Arclight airstrikes over the Salamiyah countryside.

In the coming days, possibly hours, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies are expected to kick off their long-awaited offensive to expel the Islamic State from central Syria.

Raqqa reconquest: SDF loses more than 20 while the Syrian army pushes toward the border of Deir Ezzor
In pictures: ISIL unwilling to give up Raqqa City without a fight

[AlMasdar] The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are now on the second month of their Raqqa offensive and it appears the last half of the city is far more difficult to capture than initially expected.

Unlike previous battles around the country, the Islamic State (ISIL) is unwilling to yield any inch of Raqqa city’s southern sector, using everything in their arsenal to fight off the Syrian Democratic Forces that are pushing from several axes.

Most recently, the Islamic State has launched a large number of suicide attacks against the Syrian Democratic Forces, concentrating their efforts on inflicting as many casualties as they can on the opposing fighters.

In particular, the Islamic State launched a massive suicide attack on an SDF base in western Raqqa, killing more than 20 fighters, Al-‘Amaq News Agency claimed on Saturday.

With the battle heating up, it does not appear that the Islamic State is going to give-up the southern half of Raqqa, despite being outnumbered, outgunned, and surrounded.

Thousands of Syrian tribesmen take part in government offensive against ISIL

[AlMasdar] One of the key components in the battle against the so-called Islamic State (ISIL) has been the participation of Syrian tribesmen from the provinces of Al-Hasakah, Al-Raqqa, Homs, Damascus, and Hama governorates, Damascus Now reported Sunday morning.

These tribesmen have no only provided necessary manpower, but their navigation of the rural lands in central and eastern Syria has been paramount in the battle to regain these territories from the Islamic State and jihadist rebels.

In particular, the Raqqawi tribesmen aiding the Tiger Forces in southeast Al-Raqqa have played an integral role in guiding the government troops through the rural territory and even negotiating with other clans to join their cause.

With the battle for Deir Ezzor coming up soon, these tribal fighters will likely play an even more important role as the government seeks to expel the Islamic State from the country.

Syrian Army suffers its heaviest losses in latest push to Deir Ezzor

[AlMasdar] The battle for southeast Al-Raqqa has reached a critical point, as the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) attempts to liberate the town of Ma’adan and enter the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

On Saturday, the Islamic State (ISIL) launched a big counter-attack against the Tiger Forces near the towns of Ghan Al-‘Ali and Shinan.

The terrorist group managed to drive back the Syrian Arab Army and even cutoff of their supply line to the aforementioned town, forcing the government to regroup to free the soldiers trapped by ISIL.

However, on Sunday morning, the Syrian Arab Army, alongside the Raqqawi tribes, conducted a successful counter-attack, freeing the troops that were cutoff from the government’s supply line.

As a result of this counter-attack, the Syrian Arab Army was able to advance into Ghan Al-‘Ali and seize at least 50 percent of the town – fierce clashes ongoing..

According to a military source in the area, the Syrian Arab Army lost over 40 soldiers during the Islamic State’s counter-attack, as the terrorist group’s 10+ suicide attacks caught the government off guard.

Sunday’s losses are the highest casualty toll the Syrian Arab Army has witnessed during the battle in southeast Al-Raqqa.

Syrian Army’s attack in southeast Raqqa pays off as they score big advance

[AlMasdar] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has been immersed in a fierce battle with the Islamic State (ISIL) forces in the Al-Raqqa Governorate’s southeastern countryside this weekend, resulting in significant losses for all parties involved.

However, the Syria Arab Army finally scored a major advance on Sunday when their forces broke-through the enemy’s front-lines and liberated three towns near the terrorist group’s stronghold of Ma’adan.

According to a military source, the Syrian Arab Army’s Tiger Forces liberated the towns of Ghanem Al-‘Ali, Jabilah, and Al-Rabiyah near the Euphrates River this afternoon.

With this latest advance in the southeastern countryside of Al-Raqqa, the Syrian Arab Army is now making preparations to attack Ma’adan in the coming days, as the Islamic State continues to retreat south.

Syrian Army reaches northern Deir Ezzor for the first time in years: map

[AlMasdar] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has reached the the northern border of the Deir Ezzor Governorate for the first time in several years after liberating three villages near the Islamic State (ISIL) held town of Ma’adan.

Following a tumultuous 24 hours that saw both the government lose more than 40 soldiers during the Islamic State’s counter-offensive near Ghanem Al-‘Ali, the Syrian Arab Army struck against the terrorist forces to reestablish a supply line to the aforementioned town.

Unable to hold their ground, the Islamic State militants were forced to withdraw from Ghanem Al-‘Ali, Al-Rabiyah, and Al-Jabilah after the Syrian Army fractured their main line of defense.

With their forces descending upon Ma’dan, the Syrian Arab Army is looking to seal the southeastern border of Al-Raqqa by forcing the Islamic State out of the aforementioned town along the Euphrates River.

Chicagoans shoot on fire truck, one firefighter injured
CHICAGO (WLS) -- Firefighters who responded to a car crash on Chicago's South Side early Thursday morning wound up having to take cover after someone shot at their fire truck.
Un-fucking-believable.
Sadly typical. The colonists do that in the French banlieues, too.
The crew was responded around 2:30 a.m. to a two-car crash at East 79th Street and South Yates Boulevard in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood and an argument between two people involved in the crash broke out in front of the fire truck.

A person involved in the crash allegedly called a man to come to the scene. Police said that man grabbed a handgun from his car and started firing shots into a crowd.

A bullet struck the windshield of Fire Engine 126 and at least one firefighter was cut by flying glass.

How to use and ax to breakdown all your doors to "rescue you", and to put a hole in the roof to "ventilate your home", and to use miss-diagnose smoke inhalation with a heart attack and thus the unfortunate use of the defibrillator on the chest area. And they radio ahead to the ER doctor who knows these guys with the appropriate codes so he will know that whatever he does don't use a anesthesiologist on this one. -Lurid Crime Tales-
Shock Claim From Inside DNC: Seth Rich Leaked Emails To Moscow Lawyer One Month Before His Murder
[ZEROHEDGE] With the 'Russian hacking' conspiracy theory hanging by a gossamer thread, a new claim from a prominent Seth Rich investigator casts further doubt that the DNC servers were breached by a foreign actor - yet maintains the charge of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election: Seth Rich leaked the DNC emails to the same Moscow attorney who met with Trump Jr. in June 2016.

According to Radar Online, an anonymous staffer currently employed by the DNC contacted prominent attorney, GOP lobbyist, and Seth Rich investigator Jack Burkman with the claim that Rich met with Natalia Veselnitskaya one month before his murder - giving her a cache of DNC emails later released by WikiLeaks.

Of note, Veselnitskaya - who doesn't speak English, would have needed an interpreter to meet with Rich unless he spoke Russian.

Jack Burkman represents the family of Seth Rich, and has been pushing the Seth Rich - Russia connection for months, calling for an investigation into links to the murder. In January, he told Infowars Rich was murdered by Russia after uncovering evidence that they hacked the DNC.
I'm confused. Why would Russia assassinate him after he'd given them something so useful of his own free will?
In addition to creating the website www.whokilledseth.com, Burkman is staging a reenactment of Rich's murder next Tuesday.

#1  Seth Rich was murdered July 10, 2016. Per this article Natalia Veselnitskaya met with him one month prior to his murder which would place this around June 10, 2016.

Natalia Veselnitskaya met with the Trump campaign to say she had info on the Hillary campaign June 9, 2016.

I'm confused. Why would Russia assassinate him after he'd given them something so useful of his own free will?

Because he was an unstable spy who was compromised by Natalia Veselnitskaya, had second thoughts and stopped cooperating, went drinking that night to get drunk over the mess and was being followed by Russian agents based in DC?

Wild guesses but great conspiracy stuff.

Africa North
Derna Mujahedeen attempt to break seige as LNA commander vows total blockade
[Libya Herald] An attempt by fighters from the Derna Mujahedeen Shoura Council (DMSC) to break through the Libyan National Army (LNA)’s blockade of the town ended in failure this morning and appears to have given the LNA the chance to take the Kasarat area in the eastern part. The move came as the head of the LNA’s Omar Mukhtar Operations Room tasked with taking Derna, Brigadier Salem Rifadi, declared that there would now be a total blockade. No food, medicines, cooking gas, petrol or anything else would be allowed in.

His decision follows the news that one of two pilots shot down over the town yesterday by the DMSC, Colonel Adel Jehani, had died, apparently executed. There have, however, still been no details as to how in fact Jehani died.

The DMSC offensive started at dawn today with muhajideen forces attacking LNA positions around the town. It led to the death of five LNA soldiers. Another four were maimed, sources in Derna said. For its part, the DMSC says it lost one man.

However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
in a counter offensive during the day, the LNA are reported to have taken the Kasarat area in east Derna. Sources close to the LNA say that they are now preparing a "massive" attack on the town from east, west and south.

The LNA had already been mounting a blockade, although it was not wholly effective. People were able to get in and out. Rifadi told a Tobruk radio station today that that would all now end and that the siege would be total. Nothing would get in or out.

Ironically, he was injured in a car crash later today on the road between Tamimi, south-east of Derna, and Marj. He is reported to have suffered a broken leg and was taken to the hospital in Beida for treatment. Two guards travelling with him are said to have suffered minor injuries but are otherwise in good health.

[it is up to] Nawaz Sharif to decide whether Hamza will be the right choice for the post or not," a senior PML-N politician from Punjab told Dawn. "Whoever is nominated for the CM post will follow instructions from Shahbaz...but his level of comfort with his son will be higher than with an ’outsider’. At the same time, Shahbaz wants to give his son the experience he needs to serve at the top level."

The PML-N leader added that Shahbaz would continue to oversee matters in Punjab indirectly, while his elder brother (Nawaz Sharif) would govern the Centre from his Raiwind residence.

Four killed in Daesh suicide attack in northern Syria
[AA.TR] Four people were killed in a ISIS suicide kaboom targeting a meeting between two armed Syrian opposition groups south of Aleppo on Sunday, opposition spokesmen told Anadolu Agency.

They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014...
and Tahrir al-Sham, al-Qaeda's Syrian branch, had gathered for peace talks following a cease-fire last week, Omar Khattab, a front man for Ahrar al-Sham, said.

Khattab said security guards had spotted a suspected motorcyclist approaching the meeting venue, and captured him, adding the jacket wallah managed to escape and blew up himself.

Muhammad Abu Zayd, another front man for the group, said the attacker killed four people on the spot.

He was later identified as a ISIS terrorist, he added.

The expulsions had been announced Friday in response to a new law passed in Congress that expanded sanctions, but Sunday's statement was the first time a large number of Americans were confirmed as involved.

It was "a regrettable and uncalled for act," a State Department official told The Associated Press. Earlier, a State Department official told Fox News, "It is our policy to not comment on the number of individuals serving at our missions abroad."

Russia's Foreign Ministry said it is ordering the U.S. Embassy to reduce the number of embassy and consular employees in the country to 455.

"I decided it is time for us to show: We do not intend to leave U.S. actions unanswered," said Putin, according to Interfax News Agency.

The U.S. has taken an "unprovoked step towards worsening bilateral relations," Putin added.

He also said that Russia could consider other options in response to the U.S., but that he hoped it would not come down to that.

Putin noted the recent creation of a de-escalation zone in southern Syria as one example of how the countries have worked together.

However, in terms of general relations, Putin said: "We have waited long enough, hoping that the situation would perhaps change for the better. But it seems that even if the situation is changing, it's not for anytime soon."

The new American sanctions were in retaliation both for Russia's takeover of Crimea in 2014 and Russian interference in the U.S. 2016 presidential election.

What surprised me is that we had 1210 diplomats In Russian in the first place, I've always thought we had maybe 20 or at most a couple hundreds there. I guess I better start learning more about embassies employment, not just who's in charge!

province.

According to the local government officials, the forces of Evil were attempting to detonate a cycle of violence packed with heavy explosives in the city but the cycle of violence was discovered before the forces of Evil manage to carry out an attack.

The provincial government media office in a statement also confirmed that the cycle of violence packed with explosives was seized from the vicinity of the 7th police district of the city.

The statement further added that the forces of Evil had parked the cycle of violence on a roadside and were apparently waiting to detonate it upon the arrival of their target.

The explosives seized from the cycle of violence exploded in an empty area to prevent casualties or losses to the civilians, the provincial government said, adding that the confiscation of the cycle of violence by the security forces helped to prevent a deadly attack that could claim the lives of dozens of people.

Southeast Asia
Duterte: Wipe out the New People's Army
[Inquirer] President Rodrigo Duterte wants done in the next five years what Philippine leaders have failed to do in half a century — wipe out communist rebels.

Philippine National Police Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said Duterte’s instructions to him were to focus next on fighting the New People’s Army, the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines, after the government finishes off remnants of the Maute group in Marawi City. It is not certain, however, when the war on the Maute Group in Marawi would end and that on the NPA would begin, which Dela Rosa described would be a “full scale” campaign.

Dela Rosa said that he was personally asked by the President to focus next on the NPA after the Marawi campaign is over. He said Duterte gave the instruction while they were on their way to Dumaguete City on Thursday to visit the wake of policemen who were killed in a clash with the NPA in Guihulngan City. Dela Rosa said, "The President told me ‘you better get ready, we will wipe out all NPA [members] after the problem in Marawi."

Dela Rosa said the highest number of NPA members was in Agusan, Davao and Surigao in Mindanao and Negros, Iloilo and Samar in the Visayas. Cebu and other parts in the Visayas are rebel-free, he said.

Dela Rosa said he was confident that Cebuanos and people in Central Visayas would shun the NPA and any terrorist group. He cited the case of 11 Abu Sayyaf militants who tried to penetrate Bohol through Inabanga town in April. Tips from residents helped authorities track the rebels down and kill them in separate operations that lasted for more than a month.

Dela Rosa questioned the sincerity of communist rebels in peace talks with the government because of continued attacks by the NPA on government forces.

Five dead, 13 wounded in Mogadishu blast
[SHABELLENEWS] At least five people were killed and 13 maimed in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Sunday when a boom-mobile detonated on a busy road, the security ministry said.

Security ministry front man Ahmed Mohamud said five non-combatants were killed and ten others maimed in the boom-mobile blast.

"It occurred in front of business shops along the road", he told news hounds.

The car was parked along the congested Maka al-Mukarama road and detonated remotely, security sources told Media.

Witnesses said the blast left the street littered with bodies.

"I saw several dead bodies strewn and vehicles burning. The blast was very huge," witness Abdukadir Mohammed said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility but the bombing fits the pattern of al-Qaeda linked Shabaab bad boys, who have carried out numerous suicide kabooms and raids in the capital targeting civilian, government and military targets.

Saudi Arabia, UAE welcome creation of UN Counter-Terrorism Office
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and the United Arab Emirates have welcomed the creation of the UN Counter-Terrorism office and voiced their willingness to cooperate with it.

In statements delivered at the UN General Assembly, Saudi Arabia and the UAE voiced their support of international measures that aim to eliminate terrorism.

Saudi Arabia’s UN Ambassador Abdullah al-Mouallimi said establishing a counter-terrorism office is part of the UN’s restructuring and it aims to combat terrorism and dry out its resources.

The UN Counter-Terrorism Office was established in June and its work is independent as it’s directly linked to the UN Secretary General.

The office’s main functions are enhancing coordination and coherence across the38 Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force entities to ensure the balanced implementation of the four pillars of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, strengthening the delivery of UN counter-terrorism capacity-building assistance to member states and improving visibility, advocacy and resource mobilization for the UN counter-terrorism efforts.

Saudi Arabia has provided more than $100 million to UN counter-terrorism efforts during the past years.

Bangladesh
‘Ozaki has no connection with New JMB’
[Dhaka Tribune] The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crimes (CTTC) unit of police believe that there is no connection between Bangladesh-born Japanese jihadist Muhammad Saifullah Ozaki and New JMB, the infamous faction of banned bully boy outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) that is responsible for the recent terrorist activities in the country, according to the law enforcement agencies.

"We do not have any evidence that proves Ozaki is involved with New JMB," CTTC chief Monirul Islam said at a press briefing on Saturday when journalists referred to a report by the Dhaka Tribune on Ozaki.

He further said Ozaki was accused in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Uttara (West) cop shoppe in Dhaka on May 24, 2015, based on information given by two captured bully boys. He was listed as missing after the terror attacks in Dhaka and Sholakia in July last year.

"Ozaki has been missing for a long time. His last trace was found in Bulgaria, then he went off the radar. We do not know where he went from Bulgaria. We are not sure if he is even alive. No one has any information on his status or whereabouts," the CTTC chief added.

There are speculations that Ozaki left Bulgaria and entered Syria through The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
with his family in 2015. "But there is no proof that he is involved with New JMB," Monirul reiterated.

Britain
Cambridge University Diversity Officer Under Investigation After Anti-White Racist Rant
[BREITBART] Jason Osamede Okundaye, Ethnic Minorities Officer for Pembroke College at the University of Cambridge, is being investigated after cheering on violent ’Black Lives Matter’ rioters in an extraordinary anti-white online rant.

"ALL whites people are racist," tweeted the Cambridge Ethnic Minorities Officer, as rioters protesting the death of alleged drug pusher Rashan Jermaine Charles attacked police and members of the public in Dalston, East London.

"White middle class, white working class, white men, white women, white gays, white children they can ALL geddit [get it]," he declared.

Despite making a commitment to "ensuring a zero-tolerance approach to instances of racism and racial harassment" on his Pembroke College profile, the 20-year-old appeared to revel in the racial violence overtaking London: "Watching these middle-class white people despair over black people protesting in their colonised Dalston is absolutely delicious," he jeered.

Okundaye also shared a picture captioned "You’re doing amazing, sweetie" with the text "Me @ these rioters in Dalston #NoJusticeNoPeace" -- as agitators threw Molotov cocktails, fireworks and other missiles at police, attacked members of the public, and even attempted to force their way into the cabin of a terrified delivery driver.

Pelosi: I'll Never Resign
[DAILYWIRE] House Minority Leader Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi
Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. Formerly Speaker of the House, but it's not her fault they lost. Really. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace...
has had a long run. At 77 -- and a multi-millionaire -- the Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Democrat could ride off into the sunset.

But the former Speaker of the House said Sunday she's not going anywhere.

"Self-promotion is a terrible thing, but somebody has to do it," Pelosi said on Fox News Sunday. "I am a master politician. I know the budget to the nth degree."

There have been rumblings that Democrats want to replace its aging leadership before the 2018 mid-term elections. Right now, there is no leader of the party, with Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, sometimes described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as a crook...
gone and Sen. Bernie Sanders
...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords...
-- even older than Pelosi -- on the sidelines.

There have been a few coup attempts, but none that reached critical mass. Still, things have gotten worse for Democrats who have lost all four special elections this year and are struggling to find a message that resonates with working-class Americans.

, according to a police investigation, two security sources said on Sunday.

Officials say Abdel Rahman Shaban Abokorah killed two German women and a Czech woman and maimed three other tourists at the popular Red Sea resort of Hurghada on July 14. He was caught by hotel staff and locked away
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
Investigators have recommended he face terrorism charges, the two sources said. Authorities have so far not commented officially on motives for the attack, and no group has grabbed credit for the attack,

The two sources confirmed a Facebook page belonging to the attacker contains a series of references to Islamic State, with the Lion of Islam group's flag displayed prominently in his profile.

Authorities say the attacker killed the two German women and maimed two more tourists at the Zahabia hotel in Hurghada, then swam to a neighboring beach to attack at least two more people at the Sunny Days El Palacio resort before being caught by staff and arrested.

The Czech woman was among the maimed. She died of her injuries last week.

It was the first major attack on foreign tourists since a similar assault on the same resort more than a year ago. It came as Egypt struggles to revive tourism, which has suffered from security threats and years of upheaval.

Dispute at German club leaves worker, gunman dead
[CBSNEWS] A disagreement in a German discotheque turned deadly Sunday after the disco operator's son-in-law left the club, returned with an assault rifle and started shooting, law enforcement officials said.

A security guard was killed and four other people were maimed, three of them seriously, during the rampage that started at the Grey club discotheque in the southwestern town of Konstanz. The suspect was fatally shot by a police officer.

Officials investigating the early-morning shooting identified the suspect as a 34-year-old who came to Germany from Iraq in 1991 as a child. They said they had no details of the dispute, but ruled out a terrorist motive.

Police said the man was the son-in-law of the club's operator and had a criminal record that included assault and drug-related convictions.
He probably did not own that gun legally, under the circumstances. German gun ownership laws are not liberal.
The suspect was not named in keeping with German privacy laws.

The dpa news agency cited police weapons expert Andreas Stenger as saying the weapon used was an M16 assault rifle of the kind used by U.S. armed forces. Other law enforcement officials said the gunman opened fire just inside the club's entrance, killing a security employee.

Police officers subsequently exchanged gunfire with the suspect on a nearby street. An officer sustained non-life-threatening wounds and the gunman died later in a hospital.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
PA said to offer $20 million in subsidies to East Jerusalem
[IsraelTimes] Some $15 million will go toward upkeep and repairs of homes; $1,000 stipends will be distributed to some 500 ’guards of al-Aqsa’
Buying themselves more riots and attacks on Israelis, but at what cost in outside support?
The Paleostinian Authority has reportedly earmarked some $20 million to support East Jerusalem Paleostinians in the wake of mass protests over Israeli security measures around the Temple Mount compound.

According to Channel 2, the 500 "guards of the al-Aqsa Mosque" will each receive a $1,000 stipend from the PA.

Some $15 million will go toward upkeep and repairs on homes in East Jerusalem, and all small business owners in the Old City will receive a grant of $1,000 over the next three months.

The funds will also pay for university studies, pay off municipal debts, help private businesses and subsidize electricity for residents of the Old City, the report said.

The TV report came after two weeks of sharp tensions with Israel amid Paleostinian protests over security measures at Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, known to Moslems as Haram al-Sharif (Noble Sanctuary).

Israel installed new security measures at the compound after a fatal terror attack on July 14, in which three Arab Israeli gunnies killed two Israeli coppers with weapons they smuggled on to the site. Last week, amid fierce pressure from the Paleostinians, Israel removed the metal detectors and cameras around the holy site.

Also last week, Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
announced that he had suspended security coordination with Israel to protest the metal detector installations.

The security cooperation between Israel and the PA, in place for years despite near-frozen diplomatic ties, is seen as critical for both Israel and Abbas’s Fatah faction to keep a lid on violence in the West Bank, particularly from the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", terror group.

On Saturday, The Times of Israel learned that the PA has continued to make arrests of Hamas members in the West Bank, despite the freeze in cooperation between Israeli and Paleostinian security forces.

The security cooperation will be restored gradually, a Paleostinian official said.

And as g(r)omgoru pointed out, this is the price Israel paid to get their people safely out of Jordan.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday defended his decision to remove controversial security measures at the Temple Mount, saying it was not an easy choice and vowing to push ahead with a plan to boost other security measures at the sensitive holy site.

In comments made before the weekly cabinet meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem, Netanyahu said he had ordered the measures rolled back over concern for Israel’s overall security, after weeks of violent protests by Paleostinians boycotting the site.

Polls showed much of the public did not support the decision to remove the measures, which were put in place after a deadly terrorist attack carried out with guns smuggled onto the Temple Mount, and many saw it as a "capitulation" to Moslem authorities seeking to exert control over the flashpoint Jerusalem compound.

"I am attentive to public feeling," Netanyahu said, referring to Israeli outrage over the removal of the detectors. "With that, as the prime minister of Israel, as the one who carries on his shoulders the responsibility for the security of Israel -- I must make decisions coolly and judiciously. I do that out of a view of the big picture, a wide view of the challenges and threats that are facing us. Some of them are not known to the the public and as is the nature of things I can’t go into details."

While the arrangements at the Temple Mount have gone back to the way they were before the July 14 attack -- as demanded by Paleostinians and officials from Jordan’s Waqf Islamic trust, which administers the site -- Netanyahu said that he had already ordered a boost in the security presence in the Old City and that the cabinet had approved a NIS 100 million budget to finance the new measures including the purchase of unspecified new equipment.

"In recent days I ordered an increase in the security forces at the Temple Mount and in the Old City, in order to prevent terror attacks and rioting and also to act firmly against lawbreakers," he said.

The security cabinet said last Tuesday it would replace the metal detectors with "advanced technologies," referring reportedly to cameras that can detect hidden objects, but said the process could take up to six months.

Waqf officials have already said that they would not accept the installation of the new cameras.

After thanking the security forces for their service, Netanyahu also issued a warning "to our enemies on all fronts: the IDF, the Shin Bet, and the Israel Police are ready to act with full force against all those who try to harm our citizens, our soldiers and and our police. That is how we have acted in the past and that is how we will act in the future."

killing and wounding a number of them, a local source was quoted saying on Sunday.

Almaalomah quoted the source saying that a suicide bomber driving a cycle of violence stormed a checkpoint run by IS gunnies at the center of Hawija, the group’s most outstanding stronghold in the province. The kaboom killed three members and maimed four others, all Arab nationals.

"Suicide attacks have escalated recently due to clashing commands issued by the leaders of the criminal group, as well as dissenters within the group who prefer to withdraw," said the source.

Occasional reports have spoken about internal divisions, clash of ranks and dissent attempts among Islamic State members as Iraqi troops made victories in their campaigns targeting IS holdouts. There had also been occasional liquidations of IS leaders which some reports linked to disputes among the Lion of Islams.

Alsumaria News quoted the source saying that violent armed festivities erupted Friday between IS members from Hawija and others positioned in Abbassi region (35 Km southwest of Kirkuk), leaving many dead and injured.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran upholds sentences of up to six months for Saudi embassy attackers
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iran’s official IRNA news agency has reported that an appeals court has approved the jail sentences for 10 people charged with attacking Saudi diplomatic missions.

The report said that a lawyer associated with the case said the prison sentences for the 10 attackers, ranging from three to six months each, was approved by the appeals court.

The report’s unnamed attorney also noted that four of the defendants were holy mans and therefore would have to appear before the Special Clerical Court. Their trial began in July 2016.

In January 2016, protesters in Iran ransacked and set fire to the Saudi embassy in Tehran and also attacked a Saudi consulate in the northeastern city of Mashhad.

The sentences were upheld after closed-door trials, more than a year and a half of several delays in the judicial process. After the Iranian president demanded a public trial of those involved, his country faced firm reactions from Soddy Arabia

and the Gulf states, followed by a wave of Arab boycotts and global condemnations.

Over the past year and a half, Iran’s judiciary has repeatedly said that dozens of defendants were initially locked away
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
but then immediately released due to "insufficient evidence" or because they were "angry" or had "revolutionary enthusiasm" during the attack on the embassy.

Embassy attack ringleader
Iranian authorities have arrested the holy man and preacher Hassan Kurdmihan amid allegations that he led the attack on the Saudi embassy in Tehran, following the execution of the Saudi Shiite preacher Nimr al-Nimr.

It is claimed that Kurdmihan, who is also the director of religious institutions in Tehran and Karaj, was involved in the attack that saw angry crowds set fire to the building.

Member of the Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign affairs commission, Mohammadreza Mohseni Sani said Kurdmihan was arrested after returning to Iran from Syria where he had been serving in the ranks of the Revolutionary Guard fighting alongside forces loyal to Bashir al-Assad.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Hezb-e-Islami led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar
... who used to be known in intelligence circles as The Most Evil Man in the World but who now seems merely run-of-the-mill evil...
has strongly reacted at the remarks regarding the liquidation of its leader, saying spreading rumors shows the weakness of the enemy.

A front man for the party Qarib-ur-Rehman Sayed said the party rejects the rumors spread on social media by certain people intentionally and unintentionally regarding the leader of Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin Hekmatyar.

He said the rumors are spread by those who are seeking their interest with the persistent war and violence in the country and have fears regarding the achievement of peace.

Sayed further added that those involved behind such conspiracies will never be able to create barriers on the way of the part to achieve its targets, insisting that Hezb-e-Islami is fully committed to end the war and violence in Afghanistan.

According to Sayed, the leader of Hezb-e-Islami is in a good health condition and will continue to meet people in his residence.

He also added that Hekmatyar met with various people including religious holy mans, tribal elders, youths, and other members of different communities to hear their voice and recommendations.

This comes as reports emerged on Saturday suggesting that Hekmatyar was critically maimed after one of his security guards attempted to assassinate him.

Home Front: Culture Wars
SlutWalk Chicago backtracks, will allow Zionist symbols at event
[IsraelTimes] Organizers of event had previously said they would bar participants from carrying ’nationalist’ displays
Someone announced they would pull their donations if the ban were upheld?
The organizers of reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
’s annual SlutWalk announced that Zionist symbols would be allowed at the August 12 event, overturning an earlier decision which barred participants from carrying any such religious signs.

Speaking to Haaretz, one of the event’s organizers, Red, said the event would be open to anyone wishing to protest rape culture, including those who would choose to display Zionist or Jewish symbols. The organizer added that he believed SlutWalk Chicago should apologize to Jews for the previous ruling.

"We are not banning any symbols or any kind of ethnic or heritage flags," Red told Haaretz. "Those are welcome, everyone is welcome to express themselves as they see fit at SlutWalk. And we encourage people to bring signs and symbols that represent fighting sexism, patriarchy, rape culture, and that takes a lot of different forms for different people, and we support them in how they decide to show up for SlutWalk."

SlutWalk Chicago had originally banned Zionist symbols in a statement July 16, less than a month after the organizers of a separate parade in the city celebrating the lesbian community banned three Jewish women carrying Jewish Pride flags.

"We still stand behind @DykeMarchChi’s decision to remove the Zionist contingent from their event, [and] we won’t allow Zionist displays at ours," read the official statement on Twitter," SlutWalk Chicago said in the statement, adding that "all participants will be well protected, so [people] making Zionist or any other similarly nationalist, imperialist displays will be ejected [from the event]."

According to Haaretz, SlutWalk later reached out to members of Chicago’s Jewish and Moslem communities to explain that the event would be inclusive to all participants.

"As a feminist person myself, I feel very strongly about Paleostinian liberation and radical Jewish resistance," Red told Haaretz. "I care very deeply about those concerns, but I do think that at SlutWalk Chicago we have some apologizing to do around the confusion with some of our tweets."

SlutWalk is an event held in multiple cities around the world aimed at drawing attention to women’s rights and widespread sexual harassment.

On June 24, organizers of the 21st annual Chicago Dyke March told the women that the rainbow flags with a white Star of David in the center would be a trigger to people who found it offensive.

A Dyke March collective member told the Windy City Times that the women were told to leave because the flags "made people feel unsafe," and that the march was "anti-Zionist" and "pro-Paleostinian."

More than 1,500 LGBTQ individuals and their supporters participated in the march.
Golly.

Africa North
Egypt goes about the task of reforming the religious rhetoric
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi finally announced the establishment of the Egyptian supreme or national council for combating terrorism and extremism.

This is an enlightening path and a blessed move. There is unquestionable determination to work and exterminate extremism that produces awful violence that targets markets, streets, schools, mosques, churches and airports. Terrorists are monsters who operate like zombies that rose from their dark graves.

The council is chaired by the president himself. Among the members are the parliament speaker, al-Azhar Sheikh, the Coptic pope and state officials such as the education, awqaf, interior and intelligence ministers. The aim of the council is to set plans, execute them and supervise them.

All this is good and it’s rather a duty and a requirement. This is the work of the state and the society. We wish Egypt luck and success and we hope Moslems and the entire world succeed in winning over Islamized terrorism and the culture behind it.

Task before al-Azhar
Previously, Sisi had informed al-Azhar officials that religious reform is a must and said he will quarrel with them before God if they don’t achieve the task.

The determination and honesty of the responsible Moslem man, Sisi, are beyond doubt. However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
the task of religious reform is not a military one which he can simply approve and it gets done. We wish it were so, as that would have been much easier.

The issue is also not just about Egypt, Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, Iraq, Pakistain, Indonesia or Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
. It is about defeating the culture of terrorism and extremism ‐ and I emphasize extremism here. It is a global task that concerns all people considering the news about terrorism coming daily from across the world.

There are many Arabic, Islamic and even European initiatives and centers that work to confront Islamized terrorist cultures, whether Sunni or Shiite, on the ideological and media levels. It’s worth noting that Sunni ones are more than Shiites. The diversity of such work is of course good and beneficial.

My only note is that we focus on media and quantitative activity at the expense of qualitative and intellectual activity when the problem’s core is educational and not relevant to media activity.

I’ll be more frank and ask: Is there a serious and specialized discussion before politicians and media figures talk about concepts such as Sharia, governance, Caliphate, secularism, international law and its moral obligations, women’s rights etc.?

This is where we must begin, as late author Khalid Mohammed Khalid put it.

With al Qaeda in Kashmir, Pakistan’s terror plot is not going as per script
[HINDUSTANTIMES] The Hizbul Mujahideen leader, Syed Salahuddin

Originally owned body and theoretical soul by Jamaat-e-Islami he and his organization are currently controlled by Pakistain's ISI. Salahuddin's hobbies include crocheting doilies shaped like the Taj Mahal, combing his enormous beard, and eating....
, and the Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
commander, Mehmood Shah, have in the past several days come out publicly against Al Qaeda and the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS), arguing that neither of them have a role in the Kashmire separatist cause. While there is irony in two terrorist leaders calling out two other terrorist groups for excessive violence, their statements seem to reflect concerns of the Pak deep state that the Kashmire insurgency is becoming merged with the larger global Islamicist terror problem.

When it came to Kashmire, Salahuddin pointedly said, "Neither there is need nor space for any international organization."

The immediate reason was the declaration, recently confirmed by Al Qaeda, that a former Hizbul fighter, Zakir Musa, has been declared head of Al Qaeda in Kashmire. Musa, by most estimates, has barely 10 men under him and Al Qaeda has no ability to support him other then lend him their brand.

There is a deeper hypocrisy in the statements of Hizbul and LeT. Hizbul regularly provides assistance to groups like Jaish-e-Mohammad
...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. In 2002 the government of Pervez Musharraf banned the group, which changed its name to Khaddam ul-Islam and continued doing what it had been doing before without missing a beat...
to fight in Kashmire even though the latter organization was founded with the direct blessings of the late the late Osama bin Laden
... who is now beyond all cares and woe...
, founder of Al Qaeda. LeT camps in Pakistain are known to have been used by Al Qaeda gunnies for training purposes. And the LeT and Al Qaeda gunnies have worked side-by-side in attacking government forces in Afghanistan. The LeT has been more than happy to join hands with Al Qaeda when it has suited its needs.

Underneath all this one can detect the designs of the Pak military. The Hizbul and LeT are the two terrorist groups with the closest relationship with the clandestine wing of the Inter-Services Intelligence
...the Pak military intelligence agency that controls the military -- heads of ISI typically get promoted into the Chief of Army Staff position. It serves as a general command center for favored turban groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad, tries to influence the politix of neighboring countries, and carries out a (usually) low-level war against India in Kashmir...
(ISI). They have served as the Pak military’s primary instruments in keeping Kashmire on the boil.

At a time that most indicators are showing a renewal of the United States military commitment to fighting in Afghanistan and a greater emphasis on preemptive military action against ISIS and Al Qaeda, Pakistain’s generals wish to keep a distance between the US’ target list and the bully boy groups they use to keep India off balance. This is the primary motive behind the statements of Salahuddin and Shah.

IDF seizes cars bought with payouts to Hamas killer’s family
[IsraelTimes] Security forces impound vehicles from relatives of perpetrator involved in fatal 2015 shooting of Eitam and Naama Henkin

During an overnight raid, Israeli security forces seized from the family of a Paleostinian terrorist who carried out a deadly 2015 shooting attack vehicles paid for with Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", compensation, the army said Sunday.

The West Bank raid was part of a continuing crackdown by Israeli authorities against funding for Paleostinian Lions of Islam and their families.

The vehicles, estimated to be worth tens of thousands of shekels, were financed using cash Hamas gave the families of the terror cell that killed Eitam and Naama Henkin in a drive-by shooting in October 2015, the IDF said in a statement.

The statement did not identify which family of the four-member terror cell that carried out the attack was raided or where it took place. At least four of the Lions of Islam came from families living in Nablus. It did not say how many cars were impounded.

The Henkins were driving with their four young children -- the oldest was nine years old at the time -- on the road between the northern West Bank settlements of Elon Moreh and Itamar when they were ambushed as their car slowed down at an intersection.

Four days later the IDF tossed in the calaboose
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!
four members of a cell over the shooting. In June 2016, all four were convicted and sentenced by a military court to two life terms and 30 years in prison each. During the investigation two other Hamas members were also implicated in organizing the shooting.

The money paid to the families was intended to be used to rebuild the terrorists’ homes that were demolished by security forces after the attack, the statement said.

Each of the families has so far received tens of thousands of shekels, the IDF estimated.

The Paleostinian Authority also provides monthly salaries, usually via an intermediary organization, to the families of those convicted of carrying out terror attacks on Israelis or the relatives of those killed perpetrating such attacks. Israeli officials have repeatedly demanded that the payments be stopped, saying they amount to incitement to terror.

Legislative efforts are under way in both Israel and the US to cut funding to the PA if the payments continue.

In other overnight operations Saturday to arrest suspects in the Jenin refugee camp, 10 IEDs were thrown at security forces, the IDF said. Forces fired back with nonlethal weapons and identified two suspects who were apparently hit by the munitions.

Overall, 15 suspects were arrested in the West Bank for involvement in popular terror activities and violent rioting, the statement said.

Would-be terrorist turns himself in to Tel Aviv police

[IsraelTimes] A 22-year-old man from the Israeli Arab town of Umm al-Fahm is under arrest, after telling coppers in Tel Aviv he had planned to carry out a terror attack, Channel 2 reports.

The man approached the police office in the city’s Central Bus Station and said he had planned to stab passersby, and had even obtained a knife for the purpose, but regretted his decision once he arrived and decided to throw away the knife and turn himself in. According to Channel 2, officers are unable to locate the knife.

The man is taken for questioning by Shin Bet Sherlocks.

The incident took place in Bulamareer district in Lower Shabelle region about 140 km southwest of Mogadishu.

The al-Shabaab fighters ambushed a convoy carrying troops from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), Col. Hassan Mohammed told Rooters.

"The ambush turned into a fierce fight between al-Shabaab and AMISOM. We understand fighting is still going on but we do not have the figure of casualties," he told Rooters.

Abdiasis Abu Musab, al-Shabaab’s military operation front man, said: "We have in hand 39 dead bodies of AU soldiers including their commander."

North Carolina governor signs anti-BDS bill into law
[IsraelTimes] Legislation requires divestment from companies that boycott Israel

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper signed into law legislation that would bar the state from doing business with companies that boycott Israel.

The bill signed by the governor on Thursday requires divestment from, and prohibits state agencies from contracting with, companies that boycott Israel.

North Carolina becomes at least the 22nd state with laws or executive orders banning state business with companies that support the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, or BDS, against Israel.
Earlier this month, the bill passed the state House of Representatives by a vote of 96-19 and the state Senate by a vote of 45-3.

"This bill makes it clear that the State of North Carolina stands with Israel, which has long been an important trading partner of North Carolina," said Carin Savel, CEO of the Jewish Federation of Raleigh-Cary.

North Carolina businesses conduct nearly $140 million per year in exports and commerce with Israel.

"The Jewish Federations across North Carolina have worked diligently on legislation to ensure that BDS efforts in their state fail. We applaud their tremendous work and commend the Gov. Roy Cooper for taking this important step against discrimination against Israelis by those who oppose the right of the Jewish people to self-determination in our homeland," said Skip Schrayer, chairman of the Israel Action Network, an initiative of The Jewish Federations of North America and the Jewish Council for Public Affairs.

North Carolina becomes at least the 22nd state with laws or executive orders banning state business with companies that support the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, or BDS, against Israel.

Nawaz vacates PM House, departs for Murree
[DAWN] Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
vacated the Prime Minister's House on Sunday and departed for Murree along with members of the Sharif family.

The former premier, his wife Kulsum Nawaz, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and his son-in-law Captain Safdar vacated the PM House two days after a five-member bench of the Supreme Court unanimously found Nawaz unfit to hold public office and disqualified him for misdeclaring his assets in a landmark decision on the Panama Papers case.

#1  You guys are kicking ass so much more lately. Egypt is a rough cut Nation, but when they are on the correct side, it is a power broker of Biblical proportion.

You are on the right track now, Egypt. And Sinai Forces seem to be getting the training they need now.

Good on you.

US successfully tests missile intercept system
[DAWN] The United States forces successfully tried out Sunday a missile interception system the US hopes to set up on the Korean peninsula, military officials said following a trial just days after North Korea's second test of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

In the American test of the so-called THAAD system, a medium-range missile was launched from a US Air Force C-17 aircraft flying over the Pacific and a THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) unit in Alaska "detected, tracked and intercepted the target," the US Missile Defense Agency said.

It said this was the 15th successful intercept in 15 tests for the weapons system known as THAAD.

#6  So evidently the rating who mis-designated the target as 'friendly' in the last test was kept away from the console. (You know, the one where the interceptor self destructed?)

Hizbul commander attends militant’s funeral, cautions people about al-Qaeda
[HINDUSTANTIMES] Hizbul Mujahideen commander Riyaz Naikoo was spotted at Sunday’s funeral of an operative of the outfit who was among two Lions of Islam killed in a shootout with security forces in south Kashmire’s Pulwama district.

Naikoo, a 30-year-old postgraduate, is said to have told the crowd at the funeral that the Kashmiri separatist movement has nothing to do with global terrorist groups, al-Qaeda and Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
Thousands of people gathered at the funeral of Shariq Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Takuna in Pulwama. The other slain krazed killer was Shabir Ahmad Mir of neighbouring Anantnag district.

An army officer said the two were asked to surrender after a cordon-and-search operation on Sunday morning but they rejected and fired at the troopers.

"They tried to escape and were killed in retaliation. An INSAS and an SLR rifle were found on them," he said.

The killings triggered protests in Pulwama and an unaccounted number of people were maimed in police action to disperse the crowds.

Valley newspaper Greater Kashmire on its website published a picture of Naikoo addressing the mourners and cautioning them about "efforts being made to defame the Kashmire freedom struggle".

Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent eyes global jihad leadership
[Dhaka Tribune] al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), the South Asian chapter of al-Qaeda, recently released a 20-page document which lays down a new code of conduct for jihadists all over the world to follow. The code of conduct is not only meant for members of al-Qaeda but also addresses jihadists operating across organizations and regional theaters, who are either allied with al-Qaeda or operate separately. The document continues to be scrutinised by analysts and experts in an attempt to draw a bigger picture about the intent and ramifications of this new code of conduct. The majority of the analysts have described the document either as a reiteration of al-Qaeda’s allegiance to Taliban

, supplemented with a list of dos and don’ts for the jihadists, or a renewed thrust by AQIS aimed at expanding its footprints in South Asia, a region which is home to nearly 530 million Moslems.

However,
