Ford's Latest Excuse - She Doesn't Want To Fly To DC To Testify
I believe this should finally end this freaking circus - now hold the vote.
[Politico] - The Senate Judiciary Committee is giving Christine Blasey Ford attorney’s until the end of the day Friday to work out terms of next week’s proposed hearing on Ford’s allegations that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her, according to a Republican senator.
...
The GOP has been told that Ford does not want to fly from her California home to Washington, according to the Republican senator, which means she may need to drive across the country to make the hearing. Ford has reportedly told friends she is uncomfortable in confined spaces, indicating a physical difficulty in making the trip by plane.

Why We Should Still Be Talking About Killing Communists
h/t Instapundit
[MichaelZWilliamson] And socialists, their passive aggressive cousins.

The most retarded thing I saw recently was a Pious with a bumper sticker, "If you don't like socialism get off my public road."

Um, shit for brains...roads date from the Palace Economy of the Bronze Age and were invented for the purpose of bringing TAXES into the palace. They happened to increase trade and wealth, which also increased TAXES. They weren't done for your benefit.

These days we build them to increase COMMERCE which also increases wealth and taxes. Still not done for "the people." In fact, around here, we're trying to GET them to widen a road that's needed it for 70 years and they're holding off because they're hoping for federal money...for a road that starts and ends in town. If it was being done for THE PEOPLE it would have been done 70 years ago.

Also, it wouldn't be YOUR road, it would be OUR road, and you're admitting that if I refuse to play your game, you'll cut me out of your society until I starve. Thus confessing you don't care about people, you only care about the state.

And this is why we should still talk about killing Communists. Because human lives are more important than Communist lives.

Censure Dianne Feinstein
[National Review] The Senate cannot let this wrong go unaddressed.

Regardless of the fate of Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination, the Senate should censure the ranking Democratic member of the Judiciary Committee, Dianne Feinstein. Her deception and maneuvering, condemned across the political spectrum, seriously interfered with the Senate’s performance of its constitutional duty to review judicial nominations, and unquestionably has brought the Senate into "dishonor and disrepute," the standard that governs these matters. As a matter of institutional integrity, the Senate cannot let this wrong go unaddressed.

Article I, Section 5 of the Constitution provides that each House of the Congress may "punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour." Nine times in American history the Senate has used that power to censure one of its members. Feinstein has richly earned the right to join this inglorious company.

The senior senator from California not only disgraced herself personally in the underhanded and disingenuous way she dealt with the sex-assault charge against Judge Kavanaugh, but she also misused her position on the Judiciary Committee and broke faith with her fellow committee members. She was further, to quote the San Francisco Chronicle, no less, "unfair" to Judge Kavanaugh ‐ manipulating the public disclosure of the charge so as to maximize the adverse publicity Judge Kavanaugh received and minimize the judge’s opportunity to defend himself. Censure is appropriate in this case for the Senate to defend its procedures and institutional reputation.

Muhammad Names are Top For Baby Boys in England and Wales Sixth Year Running
[Breitbart] Muhammad was the most popular name for baby boys in English regions London, the West Midlands, and Yorkshire and the Humber in 2017, government statistics show, with spelling variations in the name taking it to first place across England and Wales.

Officially Oliver remains the most popular name for newborn boys across the country, with 6,259 born last year. However, it is pushed into second place by Muhammad when slight spelling variations including Mohammed and Mohammad are included, which achieve 6,510 newborns between them.

The one-letter differences in spelling of the name between the three top-100 variants stem from the transliteration of مُحمّد‎ from Arabic into the Latin alphabet, which can be imprecise.

Even alone, Muhammad was the 10th most popular name in England and Wales last year, having slipped two places since 2016 but rising 28 places since 2007.

No Hearing; Just Vote on Kavanaugh Nomination
[National Review] This is about preventing a conservative justice from being added to the Supreme Court, nothing more.

Senate Democrats’ blatant abuse of the hearing process, their "delay, delay, delay" strategy, continues to pay dividends. Putting a stop to it would be long overdue.

Thursday was the day Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s manifestly meritorious nomination to the Supreme Court should have been voted out of the Senate Judiciary Committee and sent to the full Senate. Instead the nomination languishes because of an eleventh-hour stunt pulled by committee Democrats ‐ led by ranking member Senator Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.).

Notwithstanding that Feinstein was well aware almost three months ago of a flimsily supported allegation against Kavanaugh ‐ to wit, that 36 years ago, as a 17-year-old high school student, he groped and tried to force himself on a 15-year-old girl at an underage beer party ‐ the senator sat on the information rather than submitting it to the hearing process. Although she met face-to-face with Kavanaugh and later questioned him when he was under oath at the hearing, Feinstein did not utter a word about the ancient, unverifiable claim to Kavanaugh.

Instead, the senator referred the allegation to the FBI, without identifying the self-proclaimed witness, despite knowing that:

Vietnam's president Tango Uniform following viral illness
HANOI (Reuters) - Vietnam’s President Tran Dai Quang, a former chief of internal security who became one of the most high-profile leaders in the communist-ruled country, died on Friday after an illness, state media said.

Quang’s rise, at a time of growing dissent on social media and challenges to the party’s authority, signaled limits to Vietnam’s liberal agenda, despite a growing openness to social change and sweeping economic reform, experts say.

Quang, 61, died in a military hospital in Hanoi of a "serious illness despite efforts by domestic and international doctors and professors," Vietnam Television said.

He had hosted a reception for China’s Supreme Court chief on Wednesday, state-owned newspaper Vietnam News said.

Quang had been ill for months, said former health minister Nguyen Quoc Trieu, who now oversees healthcare for high-ranking officials.

"He began showing symptoms of illness in June last year and has been treated in Japan six times since," Trieu told Reuters.

"He suffered from a kind of highly virulent virus, for which there has not been any efficient treatment."

James Comey's FBI pushed anti-Trump dossier for official record inclusion
[Wash Times] The FBI pushed in 2016 to include the discredited dossier into the official intelligence community assessment that Russia interfered in the election to help Donald Trump and hurt Hillary Clinton, two former senior officials said.

The officials told The Washington Times that as the historic ICA, as it is known, was being drafted, the FBI wanted to fold in allegations and observations from dossier writer Christopher Steele.

One source said then-FBI Director James B. Comey directly advocated inclusion. A second source said FBI officials definitely wanted Mr. Steele’s charges on Kremlin behavior included but could not single out Mr. Comey as the main driver.

The sources said James R. Clapper, then director of national intelligence, and John O. Brennan, then director of the CIA, objected on grounds that the dossier remained largely unconfirmed information from a former British spy, not vetted U.S. intelligence.

"The IC assessment was corroborated intelligence that involved what the intelligence community agreed with," the source said. "The dossier was a totally separate thing that had not gone through that type of process, so it should not be included. That was the decision that was made."

Pres. Trump Nominates Issa to Run Trade Agency He Wanted to Eliminate
[Breitbart California] Retiring Rep. Darrel Issa was nominated Wednesday to head a trade agency that a 2017 Trump administration budget blueprint wanted eliminated.

The White House released five presidential nominations, one of which was President Donald Trump’s announcement of intent to nominate Issa to be the director of the United States Trade and Development Agency.

The first budget blueprint President Trump released in March 2017 proposed cutting 19 federal agencies, of which the Trade and Development Agency was one. The stated mission of the agency is to help "companies create U.S. jobs through the export of U.S. goods and services for priority development projects in emerging economies."

"USTDA links U.S. businesses to export opportunities by funding project preparation and partnership building activities that develop sustainable infrastructure and foster economic growth in partner countries," according to the agency’s website.

Issa announced in January that he would not seek re-election as the congressman for California’s 49th congressional district. The district has been highly targeted by Democrats and he held on to the seat by a razor-thin, less than one percent margin in the 2016 election. Republican Board of Equalization Member Diane Harkey and Democrat Mike Levin are campaigning for the seat in the 2018 midterm elections.

Boko Haram Kills Nine Villagers in NE Nigeria
[AnNahar] Nine people were killed and nine others injured when Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
fighters raided two villages in northeast Nigeria
... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border...
, the civilian militia said on Thursday.

Jihadists in pickup trucks attacked Kalari Abdiye and nearby Amarwa, some 20 kilometres (12 miles) from Borno state capital Maiduguri, on Wednesday evening.

"The button men, who were obviously Boko Haram fighters, killed nine people and injured nine more in the attacks," Ibrahim Liman, from the Civilian Joint Taskforce (CJTF) told AFP.

"They attacked the villages around 8:30 pm (1930 GMT) when it was raining and people were indoors."

Frightened residents rushed out of their homes but when they did so they were shot "indicriminately", said another CJTF leader, Babakura Kolo.

"The two villages were completely burnt by the attackers," he added, giving a similar toll.

Both villages are in Konduga, a district of Borno state that has suffered repeated attacks in a nine-year insurgency which has left more than 27,000 dead.

Last December six people were killed in a suicide kaboom on a crowded market in Amarwa, while 10 people bit the dust in April when twojacket wallah'> exploding trollop female suicide bombers attacked the village.

It was not clear which of the two Boko Haram factions was behind the attacks and there was no claim of responsibility.

Fighters loyal to the group's long-time leader, Abubakar Shekau
... the lunatic leader of Boko Haram who has been reported dead at least eleven times, pledged his body and soul to ISIS, told his fighters to hang it up once or twice, and been fired by the Caliph and refused to step down ...

Israel Emerges As an Avatar Of Nationalism
[NYSun] Many of the latest headlines boil down to a conflict about nationalism. Great Britain’s exit from the European Union. Presidentr Trump’s attempt to erect a border wall and to renegotiate the terms of international trade agreements. Russian meddling in American politics. Even public marches by avowed racists wind up being described in the press, accurately or inaccurately, as actions by "white nationalists."

Into this fray comes Yoram Hazony, president of the Herzl Institute in Jerusalem, with a new book, "The Virtue of Nationalism," just published by Basic Books.

Mr. Hazony argues that nationalism ‐ "when nations are able to chart their own independent course, cultivating their own traditions and pursuing their own interests without interference" ‐ is preferable to the alternative of imperialism, of "uniting mankind, as much as possible, under a single political regime."

...The most vivid argument of Mr. Hazony, though, may be his least abstract one.
"I have been a Jewish nationalist, a Zionist, all my life," Mr. Hazony writes.

Mr. Hazony quotes David Ben-Gurion, a founder of the state of Israel, speaking in November 1942 bemoaning that Jewish children and elders were being "buried alive in graves dug by them," "because the Jews have no political standing, no Jewish army, no Jewish independence, and no homeland."

Though Zionism long predated the Holocaust, the Holocaust became important to Jewish nationalism. For most Jews, in other words, the absence of a Jewish state ‐ not enough nationalism ‐ led to the Holocaust. Yet as Mr. Hazony notes, there’s a competing, "almost perfectly irreconcilable" view in which German nationalism led to the Holocaust. "According to this view, it is not Israel that is the answer to the Holocaust, but the European Union," Mr. Hazony writes.

It’s that juxtaposition that is Hazony’s strongest case. To most Jews the answer to this one is self-evident. It doesn’t require reading a lot of abstract philosophical tracts. It’s a simple choice. Safety and survival and freedom are far more likely to come from having a land with borders and a military under the control of one’s own people ‐ a nation ‐ than by relying on a distant bureaucracy in Brussels or at the United Nations that emits lofty language about universal ideals and liberal internationalism.

Economy
U.S. Business Itching To Import Cheap Labor
[Mercer at Townhall] Adroitly, President Trump has optimized outcomes for the American Worker. His is a labor market like no other.

Long overdue in the U.S., a labor market is one in which firms compete for workers, rather than workers competing for jobs.

"For the first time since data began to be collected in 2000, there are more job openings than there are unemployed workers." By the Economist’s telling (Jul 12th 2018), "Fully 5.8 million more Americans are in work than in December of 2015."

Best of all, workers are happier than they’ve been for a long time. Not so business. For American business, it’s never enough. Big or small, business is focused on elephantine-like expansion.

Big and small, business is nattering about labor shortages: "Ninety percent of small businesses which are hiring or trying to hire workers report that there are few or no qualified applicants, according to the National Federation of Independent Business."

With blaring headlines, the megaphones in the financial press are amplifying a message of dissatisfaction:

"The shortage is reaching a ’critical point’ ... A lack of applicants for blue-collar jobs such as trucking and construction has received particular scrutiny, as have states like Iowa where the unemployment rate is especially low (it is just 2.7 percent in the Hawkeye state)."

French Court Orders Mental Evaluation For Marine Le Pen
Why does this sounds familiar?
[VictoryGirls] If you are anywhere near a Democrat and you see trails of drool, well, move away quickly. A French court has ordered former presidential candidate, Marine Le Pen to undergo psychiatric testing because of tweets. Yup, a Democrat dream come true.

"Reuters.com" filed the following report:

A French court ordered Marine Le Pen to submit to a psychiatric evaluation as part of its investigation into her decision to post images of Islamic State executions on Twitter, the far right leader said on Thursday and denounced the order.

and more:

The investigation relates to three graphic images of Islamic State executions Le Pen posted on Twitter in 2015, including the beheading of American journalist James Foley.

She tweeted violent images of Radical Islamic Jihadists beheading people and the French Courts think she needs a psych eval. Like I said, fantasy of the left. And, they immediately proved me correct.

'Carbon taxes necessary in climate fight' sez World Bank chief
[France24] MONTREAL - Fighting global warming will necessarily require taxing carbon emissions, or setting a price on carbon pollution, the World Bank's chief executive said Wednesday at a G7 environment meeting in Canada.

"We believe very strongly that we can send an economic signal by introducing a shadow price for carbon," Kristalina Georgieva told AFP, referring to a method of calculating a price per tonne of carbon that includes the social costs of pollution.

"We are the last generation that can do something to fight climate change but we are also the first generation that has to live with its consequences," she said.

"There is a consensus among scientists and economists that carbon pricing is the best way to signal to economies that the behavior has to change."

According to the Institute for Climate Economics, 46 countries and 26 subnational governments have established a carbon pricing policy as of April 1, either using a carbon tax or a carbon market in which quotas are set for big polluters who then have the option to buy or sell credits from other companies.

These policies added US$30 billion to government coffers, with prices per tonne ranging from US$1 to US$133.

But, according to the OECD, the amount being charged is insufficient to meet climate targets.

The World Bank is "making every major step to integrate climate action into all of our lending policies," Georgieva commented.

The head of the Israeli Atomic Energy Commission, Ze’ev Snir, made the remarks at the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency forum in Vienna on Tuesday.

The Israeli Atomic Energy Commission director-general also requested the IAEA remove its permanent agenda item relating to the Jewish state’s alleged nuclear weapons capabilities.

"The agenda item entitled, ’Israeli Nuclear Capabilities,’ placed on the agenda each year, is politically driven, and contradicts the IAEA spirit and mandate," Snir said.

IDF aircraft fires at Gazans launching arson balloons at Israel
[IsraelTimes] Strike comes after at least nine blazes sparked Thursday by airborne devices

An Israeli aircraft shot up a group of Paleostinians launching incendiary balloons at Israel from the northern Gazoo Strip, the army said on Thursday night.

There were no immediate reports of injuries from the Arclight airstrike.

The strike came amid a marked uptick in suspected attacks from Gazooks launching incendiary balloons into Israel.

"Moments ago, a terrorist squad launched arson balloons from Gazoo into Israel. In response, We fired towards the squad," the army said in a tweet.

On Thursday, firefighters in southern Israel worked to extinguish at least nine blazes sparked by incendiary balloons flown over the border from the Gazoo Strip, the Israeli Fire and Rescue Services said.

A front man said the fires broke out near several Israeli communities adjacent to the Gazoo border, including Kibbutz Be’eri.

On Wednesday, the fire service said there were four blazes started by suspected incendiary balloons near Kibbutz Be’eri over the Yom Kippur holiday.

The use of fire balloons had been halted for several weeks, after several months of multiple daily attacks that left thousands of acres in southern Israel scorched and sparked fears of children being injured by bombs placed on balloons or kites and launched over the border.

The return of the fire balloons come as tensions along the Gazoo-Israel frontier have ramped back up after a brief lull, with the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terror group leading weekly marches on the fence. The last several days have also seen smaller nightly protests along the border.

Some 200 Gazooks were protesting near the fence in southern Gazoo on Thursday night, according to the Hamas-linked Shehab news outlet.

Israel has accused the Hamas terror group of encouraging the protests and using them as cover to attempt to carry out terror attacks, including firing at troops and attempting to breach the border fence.

US: Why should we fund PA hospitals, when Abbas diverts money to pay terrorists?
[IsraelTimes] State Department defends its defunding of Paleostinian Jerusalem hospitals by noting that the PA intends to give monthly stipend to family of terrorist who killed US-born Ari Fuld.

The White House has indicated those funds will remain withheld until the Paleostinians re-engage with the administration to broker a comprehensive Israeli-Paleostinian peace deal.

According to the Israeli Defense Ministry, the PA in 2017 paid NIS 687 million ($198 million) to the so-called "deaders’ families fund" and NIS 550 million ($160 million) to the Paleostinian Prisoners’ Club ‐ some 7 percent of its overall budget.

Paleostinian prisoners serving 20- to 30-year sentences for carrying out terror attacks are eligible for a lifetime NIS 10,000 ($2,772) monthly stipend, the Defense Ministry said, citing PA figures. Those prisoners who receive a three- to five-year sentence get a monthly wage of NIS 2,000 ($554). Paleostinian prisoners who are married, have children, live in Jerusalem, or hold Israeli citizenship receive additional payments.

Kavanaugh Accuser's Attorneys Pull Out of Dem Fundraiser
[Daily Caller] The attorneys for Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser were scheduled to headline a fundraiser for Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin next month but have now backed away from the event.

Debra Katz and Lisa Banks, two lawyers representing Christine Blasey Ford in her sexual assault claim against Kavanaugh, were listed as headliners for the Baldwin fundraiser on an invitation sent out Thursday morning.

According to a report by CNN, attendees were asked to contribute up to $1000 to attend the "cocktails and conversation" event, which was to be held at the attorneys’ firm, Katz, Marshall & Banks, on Oct. 1.

Despite the invitation being sent out Thursday, Katz told CNN it was an "old invite" and that the attorneys are no longer doing the fundraiser.

"The short answer is this: We did a fundraiser for Sen. Baldwin six years ago when we ran for the Senate, we supported her then," Katz told CNN. "We are not going to be doing a fundraiser now. We’re going to be focused on the issues involving the Kavanaugh confirmation process."

Huh. Democrats Really Don't Want Those Carter Page FISA Docs Released
[Hot Air] When the President made the decision to order the declassification and release of various documents from the Russia, Russia, Russia investigation, there was an immediate uproar.

The documents to be declassified included one section of the initial 2017 FISA application against Carter Page, as well as some of the FBI’s notes taken during interviews with Page and Bruce Ohr, having mostly to do with the Steele dossier. The strange aspect of the protests was the fact that they all seemed to be coming from one side of the aisle. Now, the most senior Democrats in Congress are trying to slam the brakes on the process by asking the Justice Department and the FBI to provide an "immediate briefing" to the Gang of Eight.

Slick Willie's former 'War Room' director quietly advising Kavanough accuser
[Daily Caller] Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser Christine Blasey Ford is getting advice by Democratic super-activist Ricki Seidman, Politico reports.

Seidman, currently an executive at a public relations company, has worked for the Dukakis, Mondale and Clinton campaigns for president. She served as Joe Biden’s communications director when he was named Barack Obama’s running mate in the 2008 election, and managed the confirmation of Obama’s Supreme Court justice nominee Sonia Sotomayor. Recently, Seidman served at the the executive director of the liberal voter turnout group Rock the Vote.

Seidman served in Bill Clinton’s campaign’s "war room" and served as deputy communications director in the Clinton White House, according to Politico.

Most importantly, Seidman is no stranger to high-profile fights over nominations to the Supreme Court by a Republican president. She cut her teeth running attack ads against Robert Bork, a nomination that was eventually derailed. She then moved to Democratic Sen. Ted Kennedy’s office, where she was instrumental in convincing Anita Hill to go public with her claim that Clarence Thomas sexually harassed her, The Weekly Standard reports. Seidman was also instrumental in leaking the Hill story to the press, according to "The Real Anita Hill" by David Brock.

Chicago priest who calls sex abuse ‘a gay thing' burns rainbow flag in an ‘exorcism'
[KC Star] Paul Kalchik, a priest at the Resurrection Catholic Church in Chicago, says he has twice been sexually assaulted in his life.

A neighbor first sexually assaulted him as a child, Kalchik said, and it happened again with a Catholic priest when he was just 19, according to The Chicago Sun-Times. For Kalchik, the answer seems clear: Sexual abuse in the Catholic church is "definitely a gay thing."

Now, the Catholic priest is facing controversy after he burned a rainbow flag at his church on September 14 in what he described as a "prayer of exorcism," according to NBC News. Kalchik originally planned to burn the flag on September 29, the outlet reported, but the Archdiocese of Chicago told him he couldn’t when it heard about the idea.

Despite being warned against it, Kalchik cut the flag into seven pieces on Friday and then burned it "in the same fire pit that we used for the Easter vigil mass," NBC News wrote.

Whatever Happens To Kavanaugh, Feinstein Got Exactly What She Wanted
[The Federalist] The leading Democratic figures during Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings were presumed 2020 presidential hopefuls Kamala Harris and Cory Booker. Both grandstanded to great applause from Democratic partisans, but failed to nick the nomination. The two young guns made a lot of noise, but it was an older, wiser woman who with a single shot turned a hopeless situation for Democrats into a big potential political win.

Dianne Feinstein was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1992, the original "year of the woman." During the previous year, Clarence Thomas had been confirmed to the Supreme Court despite Anita Hill’s allegations that he had sexually harassed her. The Democrats used the anger many women felt at those proceedings to elect a record number of women to Congress. It’s a play that Feinstein knows well and helped invent. This week, she called that play again.

The timing of Feinstein’s release of information regarding the initially anonymous woman accusing Kavanaugh of sexual assault was simply impeccable. Democrats knew they had no reasonable chance of stopping his confirmation, but Feinstein, a savvy and old-school politician, found a way to turn lemons into lemonade. Feinstein may have wrought a political masterpiece.

It is very likely that Feinstein knew in July, when her constituent sent the allegation to her, that it was so lacking in any kind of detail and backup that it could not derail Kavanaugh. But that didn’t mean that the allegations from Christine Blasey Ford could not be politically useful.

#1  The Democrats used the anger many women felt at those proceedings to elect a record number of women to Congress. It’s a play that Feinstein knows well and helped invent. This week, she called that play again.

But maybe women wised up since then?

US report says Palestinian Authority still cracking down on terror in West Bank
[IsraelTimes] State Department’s 2017 terrorism report credits PA with ’counterterrorism and law enforcement efforts’ in the West Bank; Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, continues to launch rockets and build tunnels

The Paleostinian Authority continues to take proactive measures to prevent terrorism while Hamas inflames and practices terror, a new US report noted Thursday.

The State Department’s annual survey of global terrorism said that despite the presence of Paleostinian terror groups in both the West Bank and Gazoo, which continued to threaten Israel, the PA was cooperating with its Israeli counterparts to tamp down violence.

The report comes amid ongoing tension between the US and the PA, over Paleostinian anger at the Trump administrations recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and the subsequent moving of the embassy there from Tel Aviv.

A Paleostinian boycott of administration officials was met with the US slashing aid to Ramallah until it comes back to negotiations. On Thursday, the US again slammed the Paleostinians for their payments to the families of terrorists.

Despite this, the report found that the Fatah-led Paleostinian Authority "continued its counterterrorism and law enforcement efforts in the West Bank."

In contrast, Hamas, the Islamist terror group that rules Gazoo, launched rockets into Israel, continued its practice of building tunnels to sneak forces of Evil into Israel and sought to smuggle weaponry into the battered coastal enclave through the Sinai.

"The United States assisted the PA’s counterterrorism efforts by providing training, equipment, and infrastructure support to the [PA Security Forces]," the report says. "US training and support assisted in the PA’s continued development of professional, self-sufficient, and capable security forces."

Yet the report noted that such cooperation was not possible with Hamas.

"Several murderous Moslem groups launched rocket attacks against Israel from Gazoo," the report says. "The primary limitation on PA counterterrorism efforts in Gazoo remained Hamas’ control of the area and the resulting inability of the PASF to operate there."

The PA and the Paleostine Liberation Organization, however, both provide "martyr payments" to the families of Paleostinians killed while conducting terrorist acts, the report said.

"These payments and separate canteen stipends that the Israeli government allows for prisoners were first initiated by the PLO in 1965 and have continued under the PA since the Oslo Accords with Israel," the survey says.

The report also noted settler violence inflicted against Paleostinians over the last year: "Israelis, including settlers, committed acts of violence, including ’price tag’ attacks (property crimes and violent acts by Lion of Islam Jewish individuals and groups against Paleostinians) in the West Bank in 2017."

Overall, the report said that the number of terrorist attacks in Israel and the Golan Heights has declined since 2015, but Israel still "experienced numerous terrorist attacks, including those committed by lone actors with no clear affiliation to terrorist organizations."

The latest report maintained a change instituted by the Trump administration to no longer refer to the West Bank and Gazoo as "occupied territories" or "the Paleostinian territories." Instead, they are referred as "West Bank and Gazoo."

The report noted that rocket attacks from Gazoo followed President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s announcing he would move the US embassy in Jerusalem last year, and the subsequent opening of the embassy in May.

Since assuming office, the Trump administration has made a high priority of brokering an Israeli-Paleostinian peace deal. Their efforts to bring both sides to the table has faltered since Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

The PA leadership has refused to engage with Trump officials, saying they forfeited their right to act as honest mediators.

The White House peace team ‐ led by Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner and special envoy Jason Greenblatt ‐ have been working on the highly anticipated proposal, and are now in the process of planning its rollout.

Republicans threaten to subpoena Nellie Ohr
[The Hill] Conservative House Republicans are calling on their colleagues to subpoena Nellie Ohr, the wife of Justice Department official Bruce Ohr, after a deal fell apart this week that would have led to her voluntary testimony.

"Now that Nellie Ohr is not coming in it is time to subpoena her and get her in as soon as possible," Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said in an interview with The Hill.

He called it "unfortunate" that Ohr would not come in as planned on Friday for a deposition.

A Republican House Judiciary Committee aide separately told The Hill that the committee will use its subpoena power to try to compel Ohr to testify if she does not agree to do so voluntarily.

It’s unclear why the deal fell apart to have Ohr interviewed behind closed doors with the House Judiciary and House Oversight and Government Reform committees.

"Last week, we thought Nellie Ohr was going to be in for a deposition tomorrow. We thought she was coming in this Friday. Turns out she isn’t. That is unfortunate," Jordan said during a phone interview.

GOP lawmakers are also threatening to subpoena Jim Baker, former FBI general counsel, if he does not agree to testify voluntarily. Baker had initially planned to meet with the committee in late August.

"The Committee continues to seek the testimony of Nellie Ohr and Jim Baker and will compel their testimony if necessary," the Republican House Judiciary Committee aide told The Hill.

The Z Man: Open doors for the wimmin
On the way back from Europe, there was a woman on the plane, who embodied pretty much all that had gone wrong with women in the West. She was 30-ish and as we were boarding, she found that the overhead bins were full in the front. She had no place to put her three carry-on items. Of course, if she had been more punctual, this would not have been a problem, but there she was in the aisle, throwing a tantrum, demanding the cabin crew rush to her aid. She managed to hold up the boarding process for ten minutes.

I was struck by the sense of entitlement. It was not because she was a beautiful women who knew all men desire her either. She was quite plain. Further, the women who work for Wow airlines are stunningly gorgeous. More important, they like being women that are stunningly gorgeous. To be blunt about it, the contrast between the beautiful Icelandic women and this American feminist underscored the fact that feminism is about dining out on appetizer looks. It’s bland women demanding unearned attention from men.

Watching this unfold in front of me, I started to think a big part of what makes American women so unpleasant now is that they are haunted by this reality. Not so much that they are average looking, but that they know the feminist lunacy in their heads is not true and that the old realities of sex roles are forever realities. If they were polite and decent, minding their own business as feminists, no one would pay any attention to them. The result would be a class of barren spinsters that live on the local university campus.

Juannita Broaddrick: 'Hey, I'm Willing to Testify'
Alinksy ‘em: choke them by making them live up to their own rules.
[Townhall] Juanita Broaddrick, whose Twitter profile reads, in part, "rape survivor of Bill Clinton," has been watching the allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh unfold and is surprised by the accuser's refusal to tell her story. Christine Blasey Ford, the woman accusing Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her in high school, has yet to accept the invitation to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday. The committee has even offered her concessions and are willing to speak to her in her home state of California, but still she has not accepted.

Well, Broaddrick said Wednesday that if Ford is not willing to testify about her allegation, she sure is.

Broaddrick also noted how Ford wants an FBI investigation into the Kavanaugh incident. If Democrats are willing to honor Ford's request that the FBI open a 36-year-old case, why not take another look at her sexual assault allegation against President Clinton? Broaddrick has accused Clinton of raping her in a motel room in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1978 when he was attorney general.

Deir Ezzor: US-backed SDF continue to fight ISIS in Euphrates valley at Hajjin and Baghouz Fouqani, 50 turbans surrender

US-backed forces advances through the heart of ISIL’s last Euphrates stronghold (video)

[AlMasdar] (1:30 P.M.) – The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)
...the Kurd-dominated anti-ISIS paramilitary in the Syrian portion of Kurdistan. The YPG’s American military advisors encouraged them to ally with and train Arab and Syrian minority auxiliaries under the SDF banner in order to shut down Turkish fussing about their Communist Kurdish enemies arming up and successfully defending themselves from both ISIS and Ottoman conquest attempts. The SDF periodically announces the graduation of yet another auxilliary unit from basic training, and their proud plans to go home and defend their village from hostile attacks. Meanwhile, the Kurds and their American advisors get on with driving ISIS out of the region...
recently scored an imperative advance in the Islamic State’s (ISIS) last pocket in the Euphrates River Valley.

Backed by US and French artillery strikes, the Syrian Democratic Forces managed to crack the Islamic State’s lines near the key town of Hajjin.

According to the official media wing of the SDF, their troops advanced north of Hajjin after a fierce battle with the Islamic State terrorists this week.

The SDF said that their troops dismantled a car bomb and killed more than 15 Islamic State terrorists during this large-scale advance this week.

The Syrian Democratic Forces have repeatedly attempted to capture Hajjin and its surrounding towns; however, the Islamic State has managed to repel all of these advances in the past.

Once the SDF captures Hajjin, the Islamic State will likely collapse in the Euphrates River Valley once and for all.

At least 50 ISIS terrorists surrender to US-backed forces in east Deir Ezzor

[AlMasdar] (3:40 P.M.) – At least 50 Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists reportedly surrendered to the the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the eastern countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate in the past 48 hours.

According to local observers, at least 50 Islamic State militants surrendered themselves to the Syrian Democratic Forces after the latter advanced on Hajjin, which is the terrorist group’s Euphrates stronghold.

Over the past 72 hours, the Syrian Democratic Forces have been steadily advancing in the eastern part of the Euphrates River Valley, while eliminating several hideouts and trenches that belonged to the Islamic State terrorists.

If the Syrian Democratic Forces are successful in this military endeavor to capture Hajjin, it will force the remaining Islamic State terrorists to surrender their remaining areas in the Euphrates River Valley.

However, it should be noted that the Islamic State has managed to repel all of the Syrian Democratic Forces’ previous attacks on Hajjin and the key town of Baghouz Al-Fouqani.

It appears the US-backed forces have recently shifted their attention to Hajjin after failing take control of Baghouz Al-Fouqani, which is located at the southern part of the Islamic State’s pocket.

US-backed forces enter strategic town in southeast Deir Ezzor

[AlMasdar] (7:30 P.M.) – The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reportedly entered a strategic town located at the eastern bank of the Euphrates River this evening.

According to a report from an SDF fighter, their troops entered the key town of Baghouz Fouqani this evening after a fierce battle with the so-called “Islamic State” (ISIS) near the Iraqi border-crossing.

The report stated that the Syrian Democratic Forces are now in control of half of Baghouz Fouqani, as they steadily advance through the well-fortified defenses of the Islamic State terrorist organization.

The SDF report added that the U.S. Air Force’s attack choppers and French artillery units are providing close air and ground support to the advancing troops.

If the Syrian Democratic Forces can seize Baghouz Fouqani from the Islamic State, they will have successfully secured the Iraqi border and nearby town of Baghouz Tahtani.

Furthermore, the Syrian Democratic Forces are rapidly advancing near Hajjin, which is the Islamic State’s main Euphrates stronghold.

Hajjin is believed to be the town where the Islamic State’s commanders are currently headquartered.

They were previously headquartered at Al-Mayadeen following their loss in Raqqa; however, their defeat at this city would ultimately result in their departure to Hajjin.

ISIS launches big counter-attack in southeast Deir Ezzor

[AlMasdar] 2018-09-21(12:45 A.M.) – The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have reportedly captured the strategic town of Baghouz Fouqani in southeastern countryside of Deir Ezzor this evening.

According to local activists, the Syrian Democratic Forces, in coordination with the French and U.S. armies, managed to score a major breakthrough in southeast Deir Ezzor on Thursday after spending the last 24 hours involved in a fierce battle with the so-called Islamic State (ISIS).

The Syrian Democratic Forces were able to crack the Islamic State’s lines after U.S. attack helicopters repeatedly bombarded the Islamic State terrorists, forcing them to ultimately fall back.

However, the SDF would not have much time to secure the town after its capture, as the Islamic State terrorists launched a large-scale counter-attack in a bid to retake Baghouz Fouqani.

The Islamic State media alleges that their forces have reentered Baghouz Fouqani after killing more than 20 fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces.

The Islamic State often exaggerates the death toll of enemy forces, which is something they have done since their units began losing a lot of ground in Syria and Iraq.

Intense clashes are now ongoing inside of Baghouz Fouqani, as the Islamic State attempts to reclaim the town from the Syrian Democratic Forces.

Saudi woman’s case against father stirs ‘guardianship’ debate
[JOURNALDUCAMEROUN] A Saudi court has ruled in favour of a woman who challenged her father’s decision to not let her have a passport, reports said Thursday, stirring an online debate on the contentious male guardianship system.

The conservative kingdom requires women to seek permission from male "guardians" ‐ their fathers, husbands or other male relatives ‐ to travel, get married and do other tasks.

In a rare case, an unnamed 24-year-old woman in western Jeddah city sought to disown her father as her guardian after he refused to let her seek a passport to study abroad, local media including the pro-government Okaz newspaper reported.

A civil court this week ordered the father to obtain a passport for the woman.

The newspaper also said the woman, a university student, had been living with her mother for 10 years and had not seen her father for six years.

Brazilian dark horse says God wants him to be president
[JOURNALDUCAMEROUN] One of the media darlings of Brazil’s eccentric presidential race is a buff, bible-thumping reserve fireman who barely registers in the polls and insists God wants him to win.

Introducing Cabo Daciolo, who calls himself a messenger from heaven, says he wants to expel Satan from Congress and, with the campaign for the October 7 vote in the home stretch, has chosen to go on a religious retreat in the mountains for three weeks.

Up there on high, the Rio native says he is fasting and praying for the recovery of the frontrunner in the race, of all people: rightwinger Jair Bolsonaro, who was stabbed two weeks ago while campaigning. The two men are close, personally and ideologically.

Bolsonaro finds himself out front with the most popular presidential hopeful, former president and leftist icon Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, in jail for corruption and disqualified from running.

Yes, it has been that kind of race.

Daciolo rarely appears in public, relying instead on social media. On Facebook he has 264,000 followers.

He likes to begin talks to his disciples with a rousing shout of "Glory be to God."

"I am not a politician. I am an envoy from God," Daciolo, a handsome 42-year-old with an athletic build, said once on Instagram.

"Everyone says, ’Daciolo, you are crazy to jump into this campaign,'" he told the magazine Epoca. "With people, my chances are less than 0.001 percent. But with God they are 100 percent."

Trump tells OPEC to lower oil prices
[DAWN] President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
on Thursday issued a fresh call on the OPEC oil cartel to lower crude prices, saying the United States was providing Middle Eastern energy giants with security.

"We protect the countries of the Middle East, they would not be safe for very long without us, and yet they continue to push for higher and higher oil prices!" he tweeted.

"We will remember. The OPEC monopoly must get prices down now!"

Trump has earlier called for members of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries ‐ primarily cartel kingpin and US ally Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
‐ to raise their production, and warned importers to stop buying oil from Iran or face US sanctions.

Two of OPEC's founding members, Iran and Venezuela, are under sanctions from Washington.

A new set of US sanctions is due to hit the Islamic republic's oil industry on November 4.

Output from Iran has hit its lowest level since July 2016, according to the International Energy Agency, as top buyers India and China have distanced themselves from Tehran.

Unknown Pub Takes Runoff in Texas (D) Stronghold
More on this story from a few days ago.
[The Hill] A Republican candidate won an upset victory Tuesday night in the runoff for a Texas state Senate seat that had been held by Democrats for more than a decade. Pete Flores (R), a conservative former leader of the state Parks and Wildlife Department’s law enforcement division, won a surprise victory over Democrat Pete Gallego.
Watch out! It's a blue ripple!
The runoff election was held following the resignation of the seat's previous holder, state Sen. Carlos Uresti (D), after Uresti was found guilty of charges related to defrauding investors in an oil services company and sentenced to prison.

Uresti previously defeated Flores in 2016 by double digits. Flores won in an eight-way special election encompassing both parties earlier this year, with Gallego trailing him by single digits.
Sounds like the Dems killed each other off, leaving the Pub victor. The district would probably still vote for Hillary.
More analysis: Anti-abortion said to be a key factor.

"Pete’s strong law enforcement background will be invaluable to the Legislature as we work to combat human trafficking and provide greater protections for our peace officers," Gov. Abbott said. "I look forward to working alongside him next session to build a brighter future for all Texans."

Texas has been looked at by Democrats as a potential target for the party ahead of November's midterm elections, with several Texas Republicans in diverse districts seen by wishful thinkers as vulnerable to Democratic challenges.

Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D) has mounted a high-profile challenge against Sen. Ted Cruz (R) for the state's Senate seat as Democrats attempt to retake both chambers of Congress in November. O'Rourke trailed Cruz by 9 points in a poll of likely voters released Tuesday.
His ads are all over prime time in Dallas, compared to one Cruz ad I fast-forwarded through.
Democrats need a net gain of 23 House seats and 2 U.S. Senate seats to retake both chambers in November.
But it ain't gonna happen, unless you don't bother to vote!

According to the San Antonio Express, the seat has been held by Democrats for 139 years--even before Reconstruction ended in Texas. The loser was a former Democrat Congressman that used to represent the area.

Republicans all over the country should be thanking Beto O'Rourke for sucking up Democrat contributions from all over the country. He pulled in another 9.1m in August. Won't matter. Hispanics won't vote in the numbers necessary for a man that wore a dress in a punk rock band.

Quneitra: Syrian army captures abandoned field hospital, Russia enforces peace in Heights

Syrian army uncovers field hospital in former jihadi stronghold near Golan Heights

[AlMasdar] (7:55 A.M.) – A well-equipped field hospital has been exposed in a town formerly held by jihadi militants near the occupied Golan Heights.

The deployable clinic, found in Bariqah town in South Qunitrah countryside, is fitted with Israeli and French-made devices, supplies and medications.

Jihadi groups who had controlled the area for years left to the country’s north following an evacuation deal with the Syrian government a few months ago.

The Syrian authorities are carrying out a full-scale mop-up operation in order to entirely secure the area before civilians can safely return to their houses and farms.

Russian military maintains peace along border of occupied Golan Heights
Those of a fashionable turn of mind will enjoy the photo at the link of the Russian military police all nicely lined up in their spiffy camouflage uniforms and even spiffier red berets.
[AlMasdar] (2:30 P.M.) – The Russian military police that are currently deployed along the demilitarized zone of the occupied Golan Heights region have managed to maintain the peace between the Syrians and Israelis on the both sides of the border, the Russian Reconciliation Center reported on Thursday.

According to the Deputy Commander of the Russian Forces in Syria, Lieutenant General Sergei Kuralenko, stated that construction crews are currently working to repair several areas in the Al-Quneitra Governorate, while also providing aid to the people in the area.

“Throughout this area, we delivered humanitarian supplies to the population that had suffered during the combat operations. We’re monitoring the observance of the agreement in accordance with the UN [Security Council] resolution to restrict weapons near the Bravo Line on Syria’s side. Thus, we’re supporting the UN body that is keeping a close watch on the reconciliation,” he told journalists, as quoted by the Tass News Agency.

Lt. Gen. Kuralenko said that the Russian military is also working with the U.N. Peacekeeping Forces that are currently present in the region.

“We are confident that the UN patrols will follow in the footsteps of the Russian military police, after performing certain procedures. There have been no UN forces in this neck of the woods for more than six years, and today people see only Russian and Syrian flags here,” Kuralenko said.

“I’m confident that our actions will ensure the completion of the tasks by UN forces in the central part of the demilitarized zone, as well as along its southern border. It can be said that, by accomplishing (our) mission in the community of Al-Rafid, as well as in the communities of Adra, Maariah, we paved the way for the UN forces,” he continued.

“The actions of the Russian military police and Russian officers have provided stability to the demilitarized zone and (the vicinity) around it, which enabled UN forces to begin their procedures to extend or restore its patrolling zone in order to implement the UN [Security Council] Resolution of 1974,” he added.

Pakistan’s effort to end terrorist financing remains uneven: US
[DAWN] As the new government in Islamabad starts work on addressing the concerns related to money laundering and terror financing, a US State Department report released on Thursday said that Pakistain criminalised terrorist financing through the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), but its implementation remained uneven.

Pakistain is a member of the Asia Pacific Group on Money Laundering ‐ a Financial Action Task Force (FATF)-style regional body. In June, the Gay Paree-based FATF placed Pakistain on its grey list of countries that could be marked out for economic sanctions if they failed to prevent Death Eaters from collecting funds within their domain.

The official US report ‐ released with the State Department’s country reports on terrorism ‐ also highlights FATF’s concerns about Pakistain.

"The FATF continued to note concern that Pakistain’s outstanding gaps in the implementation of the UN Security Council ISIS (ISIS) and Al Qaeda sanctions regime have not been resolved, and that UN-listed entities ‐ including Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
(LeT) and its affiliates ‐ were not effectively prohibited from raising funds in Pakistain, nor being denied financial services," the report points out.

Last month, Finance Minister Asad Umar told the Senate that FATF had given Pakistain 15 months to comply with these requirements. The minister said FATF had identified 27 deficiencies in the Pak financial system, including "currency smuggling, hawala and terror financing of proscribed organizations".

The minister had told the house that the government would be addressing all the objections raised not only to satisfy the international community but also because it was in Pakistain’s own interest to get rid of terror financing and terrorism.

The US State Department in its report acknowledged that Pakistain’s laws technically comply with international anti-money laundering/countering the financing of terrorism standards, but added that Pak authorities "failed to uniformly implement UN sanctions related to designated entities and individuals such as LeT and its affiliates, which continued to make use of economic resources and raise funds".

The report also refers to a Nov 2017 decision of the Lahore High Court which refused to extend the detention of LeT founder Hafiz Saeed
...founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba and its false-mustache offshoot Jamaat-ud-Dawa. The United Nations declared the JuD a terrorist organization in 2008 and Hafiz Saeed a terrorist as its leader. Hafiz, JuD and LeT are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Pak intel apparatus, so that amounted to squat...
as it judged the government had not provided sufficient evidence against him nor had it charged Hafiz Saeed with a crime.

The US report also examines the National Action Plan that the PML-N government gave to FATF in June this year, noting that the plan contains efforts to prevent and counter terrorist financing, including by enhancing interagency coordination.

The law designates the use of unlicensed hundi and hawala systems as predicate offences to terrorism and also requires banks to report suspicious transactions to Pakistain’s financial intelligence unit, the State Bank’s Financial Monitoring Unit.

The US State Department, however, notes that throughout 2017 "these unlicensed money transfer systems persisted throughout the country and were open to abuse by terrorist financiers operating in the cross-border area".

The report also identifies several major terrorist groups focused on conducting attacks in Pakistain, including the Tehrik-e-Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
Pakistain, Jamaatul Ahrar
...A Pak Taliban splinter group that split off from the Mullah Fazlullah faction because it wasn't violent enough...
, and the sectarian group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi
... a 'more violent' offshoot of Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain. LeJ's purpose in life is to murder anyone who's not of utmost religious purity, starting with Shiites but including Brelvis, Ahmadis, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Rosicrucians, and just about anyone else you can think of. They are currently a wholly-owned subsidiary of al-Qaeda ...
al-Alami.

The report also mentions groups located in Pakistain, but focused on conducting attacks outside the country, included the Afghan Taliban, Haqqani network, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad
...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. In 2002 the government of Pervez Musharraf banned the group, which changed its name to Khaddam ul-Islam and continued doing what it had been doing before without missing a beat...
(JeM).

The reports notes that in 2017, the Death Eaters used a range of tactics ‐ stationary and vehicle-borne improvised bombs, suicide kabooms, targeted liquidations, and rocket-propelled grenades ‐ to attack individuals, schools, markets, government institutions and places of worship.

The report also notes that the Pak government and military continued high-profile efforts to disrupt terrorist attacks and eliminate anti-state turbans. "Progress, however, remained slow on the government’s efforts to implement UN sanctions related to designated entities and enforce anti-money laundering/countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) controls."

[DAWN] A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar will take up next week a petition seeking disqualification of Prime Minister Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight...
According to the cause-list issued by the apex court, the petition has been fixed before the bench comprising CJP Nisar, Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan for Monday (Sept 24).

The petition was filed by Barrister Danyal Chaudhry in May last year soon after the apex court had constituted a six-member Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe allegations of corruption against then prime minister Nawaz Sharif

The petitioner was seeking a special oath to the JIT members for protecting them from getting influenced by the speeches of Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....

The GOP Can't Win for Losing
[Kim Strassel - WSJ] A Kavanaugh defeat would demoralize the Republican base, not energize it.

As the battle over Brett Kavanaugh rages on, pundits continue to speculate about what an unproven sexual-misconduct claim might mean for the future makeup of the Supreme Court, for subsequent nominations and for the credibility of the #MeToo movement.

In the halls of Capitol Hill, the question centers on a much more immediate and political question: the fate of the Republican Party. The overwhelming verdict‐on right and left‐is that if Judge Kavanaugh goes down, so too does the GOP in the upcoming midterms.

Afrin: Kurds target Turkish proxies with deadly results, locals march against barbaric Ottoman invaders

YPG carries out deadly attack against Turkish-backed rebels in Afrin (video)

[AlMasdar] (9:30 A.M.) – The Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) carried out a deadly attack against the Turkish-backed rebels in the Afrin region of northwest Aleppo this week.

According to the official media wing of the YPG, their sleeper cell targeted a group of Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters in the Sherawa District.

On September 18th,YPG targeted a military point of the Ahrar al-Sharqiya mercenary fraction, located between the villages of Kafr Nabu and Berade of Afrin’s Sherawa district.

As a result of this attack, at least two Free Syrian Army fighters were killed and three others were badly wounded.

Thousands demonstrate against Turkish military presence in Afrin (video)

[AlMasdar] (2:45 P.M.) – Thousands of people gathered in Kobani in northern Syria on Wednesday to demonstrate against the Turkish military operation in Kurdish-dominated Afrin.

Protesters marched through the streets carrying the flag of the Democratic Federation of Northern Syria.

Demonstrator Nabi Ahmed explained that the protest was calling out to the international community, including the UN and human rights groups, for support in defending the Kurdish cause and the people of Afrin.

Another demonstrator, Alyaa Husain, said: “We want Erdogan to know that we will never give up, on the contrary, we will resist to the last drop of blood in our bodies.”

In late January, the Turkish-backed Euphrates Shield forces launched a large-scale offensive to capture the strategic Afrin region of northwest Aleppo.

By early March, the Turkish-backed forces had captured the Afrin region after the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) withdrew to government-held areas.

However, since losing the Afrin region, the YPG’s sleeper cells have been wrecking havoc on the Turkish-backed forces that are currently deployed all over the northwestern countryside of Aleppo.

Malaysia ex-PM hit with 25 new charges over 1MDB scandal
[DAWN] Malaysia's former leader Najib Razak was hit with 25 new charges of money laundering and abuse of power linked to the 1MDB mega-scandal on Thursday, including allegations that hundreds of millions of dollars were transferred to his personal bank account.

Najib pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
to all the charges during a court appearance in Kuala Lumpur. Since his shock election defeat in May, he has now been charged with a total of 32 counts related to state fund 1MDB, which he and his cronies allegedly looted.

He faced four abuse of power and 21 money-laundering charges Thursday, in what observers said represented the most serious allegations he has yet faced.

He was accused of receiving illegal transfers to his own accounts from the fund totalling nearly 2.3 billion ringgit ($555 million). The suspicious transfers were a key chapter in the scandal, and Najib had previously insisted they were a donation from Saudi royalty.

Friend or Foe System not to blame for downing of Russian aircraft off Syrian coast: MoD
Quite probably it was an overexcited Syrian technician or several who felt keenly the need to shoot something at those horrid Israeli bombers when the secondaries started cooking off like cannons in the 1812 Overature. Most assuredly the Russian system is capable of determining Russian friendlies; whether it is still able to recognize Israeli aircraft as foes is a very different question.
[AlMasdar] The Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) System is not to blame for the downing of the IL-20 reconnaissance aircraft off the coast of Syria on Monday evening, the Spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov, said this morning.

Maj. Gen. Konashenkov said that there were no precedents for transferring Russian IFF systems to other states, including the Syrian Arab Republic.

"The IFF system of state recognition is strictly individual for each state, and even for weapons and military equipment exported from Russia within the framework of military-technical cooperation, it has never been installed. All this fully applies to the domestic air defense systems delivered to the Syrian Arab Republic," Konashenkov said.

Furthermore, the IFF system that is used by the Russian military is only used by aircraft and air defense systems that are Russia.

"The IFF system of state recognition used by Russia is only used by aircraft and air defense systems identified as Russian. There have never been any precedents for the transfer of such a system, together with Russian identification codes, to another state, and in principle cannot be," Konashenkov added.

Both Syrian and Israeli leaders have offered their condolences for the death of the 15 Russian servicemen, while also blaming one another for the downing of the IL-20 aircraft.

#1  If that's the case then how can the Russians and Syrians effectively interoperate in Syria?

There have never been any precedents for the transfer of such a system, together with Russian identification codes, to another state, and in principle cannot be,

Wouldn't the question be if the Syrians gave the Russians the codes/information they'd need to make Russian aircraft identify themselves as friendlies to Syrian air defense?

The CSTO Joint Staff then said that most of the Islamic State murderous Moslems are now concentrated in Afghanistan following their heavy losses in Syria, Iraq, and Libya.

"Afghanistan is now the principal center of the Islamic State terrorists.

The CTSO report did not specify how the Islamic State murderous Moslems were transferred from Syria to Afghanistan; however, in the past, Russia has accused the U.S. of moving these bandidos murderous Moslems to the country.

Currently, the Islamic State still maintains a large presence in eastern Syria, despite ongoing efforts of the US-backed forces and Syrian government troops to clear the terrorist group from this vast desert region.

In recent months, the Islamic State has taken to the Syrian Desert to evade capture by the government troops and US-backed forces; this has also allowed them to carry out hit-and-run attacks against both entities.

As of now, both the Syrian Army and US-backed forces are attempting to clear the Deir Ezzor Governorate of the remaining Islamic State murderous Moslems before the new year.

Anger as Turkey jails 24 over airport protests
[DAWN] Ottoman Turkish activists and the opposition on Wednesday expressed outrage after a court incarcerated

24 workers ahead of a trial over their actions in protests against labour conditions at Istanbul’s giant new airport.

Activists said that the authorities should be listening to the workers’ grievances rather than jailing them as work continues at breakneck speed to ensure the facility is finished on time.

Hundreds of employees from the airport were rounded up at the weekend after reportedly protesting and striking over alleged labour violations during the rush to open the airport next month.

Most of those detained were released without charge but 43 appeared before a judge at a court in the Istanbul district of Gaziosmanpasa late Tuesday.

Of them, 24 were remanded in jug while 19 were allowed to go free under judicial control after an overnight court session, the DHA news agency reported.

According to the official media wing of HTS, their fighters executed five suspected members of the Islamic State that were captured in the western countryside of the Aleppo Governorate.

Among the suspected Islamic State fighters executed by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham recently were two field commanders that operated a sleeper cell in western Aleppo.

These Islamic State members were reportedly captured by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham two weeks ago; they were later found guilty by HTS’ courts before their execution.

As shown in the photos below, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham executed the five Islamic State members in an undisclosed location in western Aleppo:

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham has been trying to crackdown on these Islamic State sleeper cells recently after several of their commanders were executed by the aforementioned terrorist group in the Aleppo and Idlib provinces.

With the recent demilitarized zone agreement in Idlib, it is not clear whether or not this will have any significant affect on the remaining jihadist groups in the province, including Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham.

Florida student pilot charged with attempt to steal plane
[FOX] MELBOURNE, Fla. ‐ A 22-year-old student pilot suspected of boarding a vacant passenger plane at a central Florida airport early Thursday has been charged with criminal attempt to steal an airplane, officials said.

The Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating and trying to determine a motive in the case, according to Orlando-Melbourne International Airport spokeswoman Lori Booker. She told news outlets the student pilot, identified as Florida Institute of Technology student Nishal Sankat, also faces a visa violation and criminal trespassing charges.
It wasn't Huffman Aviation flight school in Venice, Florida was it ?
Early Thursday, a man drove to the curb outside the airport, left his car running, hopped a fence and boarded an Airbus 321 American Airlines aircraft sitting in a maintenance facility, Booker said.

An avionics technician was in the plane's galley when he saw a shadow, Booker said.
Hey Bill, I'm going to the back and catch a few Z's. If you see something, say something ok ?
"He turned around and said, 'Who are you? Show me your badge,"
Domino's? Yo Bill, did you order a breakfast pizza ?
Booker told news outlets. She said the technician was among airport workers she dubbed heroes.

He grabbed the man and, with help from another technician, they got him off the plane. Booker said that while one technician held the man down, the other called Melbourne airport police. The man broke free and ran along the airfield before police took him into custody about two minutes later.
You ever try to sprint in a man-dress and sandals ?
After the man was arrested, officials conducted a sweep of the airfield before re-opening the airport. All employees and passengers were removed from the terminal during the incident, which caused two flight delays and interrupted airport operations for about five hours.

Police searched the student pilot's car with a robotic arm to make sure no explosives were inside, Booker said. The car was then towed from the airport.

The airport returned to normal operations after five hours.
"Normal airport operations?" WTF is that ?
Booker said the student pilot is from Trinidad and entered the United States through Canada. The spokeswoman said he has a Florida driver's license.
No worries, he was probably on the 'FBI's radar.'
Melbourne is 70 miles (112 kilometers) southeast of Orlando.

More from Heavy.com: the airplane-mad lad may be Muslim, and:
Records show Sankat is being held at the Brevard County Jail and was booked at 7:30 p.m. The Melbourne Airport Police is the arresting agency. He faces two felonies; grand theft/larceny over $10,000 and unarmed burglary. The third charge, trespassing, is a misdemeanor. His bond on all three charges combined is $20,500. His first court appearance is Friday.
More from the Orlando Sentinal:
The incident started at about 2 a.m. when the suspect drove to the curb outside the airport and left his car running, airport spokeswoman Lori Booker said. He hopped a fence and boarded a vacant Airbus A321 aircraft belonging to American Airlines, Booker said.

Chief Renee Purden of the Melbourne Airport Police Department said detectives are interviewing Sankat about his motivations, but do not believe he has any link to terrorism.
The FBI has a keen interest in Sankat's five cell phones. Said they'd be here later this morning to pick them up.
Booker said Sankat was born in Trinidad and legally entered the United States through Canada.

Erdogan seeks parliament approval for more cross-border military ops
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
’s president has asked the parliament to extend its authorization for cross-border military operations.

The current authorization expires October 30. President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
is seeking a one year extension in order to continue military operations in Iraq and Syria.

His motion submitted to parliament states that Ankara respects the territorial integrity of Iraq, "however, the existence of PKK and ISIS in Iraq, poses a direct threat to regional peace, stability and the security of our country," Anadolu Agency reported.

Turkey has carried out multiple military operations across its border in northern Syria.

During its Euphrates Shield operation in 2016 ‐ 2017, Ottoman Turkish forces and their Syrian proxies confronted ISIS west of the Euphrates River, north of Aleppo, taking control of the area and preventing Kurdish forces from advancing across the river.

At the start of this year, Ottoman Turkish forces, again with their allied Syrian militias, pushed the Kurdish YPG/YPJ forces out of Afrin. Ankara is opposed to the Syrian Kurdish forces, considering them a branch of the PKK.

Ottoman Turkish forces are carrying out coordinated patrols with the United States in the area of Manbij, east of the Euphrates River.

Ankara demanded the withdrawal of all YPG forces from the town, which is under the administration and security control of a local multi-ethnic council.

Ottoman Turkish forces are also present in Idlib province, where they have established observation points to monitor a de-escalation zone established by agreement with Russia and Iran as part of the Astana process. Ankara and Moscow are now hammering out details for an agreed-upon demilitarized zone in the province.

Damascus has condemned Turkey’s military presence within Syria’s borders.

In Iraq, Ottoman Turkish jets carry out frequent air raids on alleged positions of the PKK. Human Rights Watch recently reported that the air strikes could be a violation of international law.

Turkey launched a ground operation against the PKK’s headquarters in Kurdistan Region’s Qandil mountains earlier this year.

Their jets have also targeted the Shingal area, where Turkey alleges the PKK has forces. A local PKK leader was killed in an Arclight airstrike during a Yezidi genocide memorial event in August that drew widespread condemnation.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced this week that Iraqi border guards will be stationed on the border with Turkey to "prevent breaches" and document airspace violations. The border lies within Kurdistan Region territory, so any deployment of federal forces will need approval from Erbil.

Turkey’s parliament will debate the motion on October 1. It would be a surprise if parliament does not approve the request.

Trump’s new cyber strategy seeks global dominion over internet
[RT] Setting the global standard for online behavior, preserving American dominance, political and economic interests, punishing ’malicious actors’ like Russia and China: these are the ambitious goals of the new US cyber-strategy.

The White House published the 40-page document on Thursday afternoon, the first comprehensive cyber strategy in 15 years. The strategy’s core assumption is that the US created the internet and that Washington must maintain the dominant role in defining, shaping and policing cyberspace in much the same way as it does the globe.

All strategies are but broad outlines of general measures and overall objectives, and this one is no different. Beyond merely defending US computer networks - that’s just the first part, devoted to protecting the "American People, the Homeland, and the American Way of Life" - it wants to promote US economic prosperity while advancing influence around the world and achieving "peace through strength" as well.

Teenage girl with disabilities allegedly raped in Khanewal
[DAWN] A 14-year-old girl with disabilities was allegedly raped by a neighbour in Khanewal's Kabirwala tehsil on Wednesday morning.

A first information report has been registered but the suspect has not been incarcerated
Please don't kill me!
as yet, Station House Officer (SHO) Tayyab Sarfaraz said.

The victim's father told DawnNewsTV that the suspect had raped his daughter in their home within the limits of the Bara Kata cop shoppe with help from an accomplice while he and the victim's mother were working in the fields.

He said that when they returned home, they found the victim unclothed. The daughter, who is unable to speak or walk properly, told her parents what had happened using gestures.

Upon discovery, the suspect expeditiously departed at a goodly pace. When the victim's parents went to his house, they were told he was not there.

When the police later visited the suspect's house, they were also told that he was not there, the father said.

According to the FIR, the victim's father upon returning home caught the suspect in the act while an unidentified individual kept watch. When the suspect realised he had been discovered, he pulled out a pistol and threatened to shoot if anyone came nearer and then expeditiously departed at a goodly pace of the crime.

A Medico-Legal Examination of the victim suggests the possibility that rape may have taken place, but the examination report said that a final opinion on the matter would be provided after the hospital receives final reports from the Punjab

SHO Tayyab Sarfaraz said a search operation for the suspect was underway, and that he would soon be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Locals from the area and the girls relative held a protest, demanding the arrest of the suspect. They alleged that the suspect had previously raped two other girls as well.

Istanbul court jails executives of shuttered TV channel

three former executives of a closed down leftist television channel for spreading "terror propaganda", reports said.

The court convicted Hayatin Sesi TV’s former co-owners Mustafa Kara and Ismail Gokhan Bayram and editor-in chief Gokhan Cetin of disseminating propoganda both for the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and IS holy warriors.

All three were handed jail terms of three years and nine months.

and closely covered the summer 2013 protests against his rule.

It was shut down by emergency decree in the wake of 2016 failed coup.

Media rights groups Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and the International Press Institute (IPI) confirmed the three-year nine-month sentences handed down by the court to each of the men.

Prosecutors had asked that they serve at least 13 years in jail. Supporters had described the charges as absurd.

They were convicted of disseminating propaganda for IS, the PKK and another radical Kurdish group the Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK) in their reporting.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Hasakah: Syria Kurds hand over alleged female ISIS member to Sudan
[Rudaw] Syria's Kurds said they handed over a Sudanese woman accused of belonging to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group and her baby to a Sudanese diplomat Thursday, while hundreds more foreigners remained in their custody.

Kurdish authorities controlling swathes of northeastern Syria have detained alleged ISIS members from dozens of foreign countries since the jihadist group's so-called caliphate crumbled last year.

But their home countries have been overwhelmingly reluctant to claim them, with public opinion hostile to repatriating them.

On Thursday, the Kurdish authorities in northeast Syria delivered a Sudanese woman and her one-month-old baby to a Sudanese diplomat in the northeastern city of Qamishli,
,...capital of the Democratic Federation of Northern Syria, functionally the semi-autonomous Syrian portion of the Kurdistan homeland...
an AFP correspondent and an official said.

The Kurds "decided to hand her over to her country's embassy" after Khartoum requested the transfer, Kurdish foreign affairs official Abdel Karim Omar said.

"She was locked away
You have the right to remain silent...
on January 10, 2018, on the accusation of belonging to ISIS," Omar said, without providing further details.

ISIS jihadists swept across large parts of Syria and neighbouring Iraq in 2014, declaring a "caliphate" in territory they held, but have since lost most of it to various offensives.

In Syria, Kurdish fighters have formed the backbone of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), an alliance backed by the US-led coalition that has expelled the jihadists from swathes of the country.

"Around 520 ISIS mercenaries, as well as 550 women and around 1,200 children from 44 countries" are still in Kurdish custody, Omar said, stressing they were all "foreigners."

"It's a heavy burden that we can't carry alone," he said.

The fate of alleged foreign ISIS members captured in Syria remains controversial, with only rare countries agreeing to take back their detainees, mostly women and kiddies.

"We will not try any ISIS fighter," Omar said.

"We are trying as much as possible... to pressure governments to carry out their duties and take their citizens back."

Among the most infamous detainees are Alexanda Amon Kotey and El Shafee el-Sheikh, two survivors of a four-man ISIS team who carried out beheadings and were dubbed "The Beatles" because they were British.

Syria's Kurds have also captured several alleged ISIS members from La Belle France, and last month an Italian accused of being part of the jihadist group as he attempted to cross the border to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
In August, Washington said the SDF had handed over two Americans accused of supporting IS to US authorities.

Lebanese members of ISIS have also been transferred to Beirut.

Syrian Kurds say they cannot hold foreign jihadists indefinitely

[AnNahar] Kurdish-led authorities controlling northeastern Syria will not be able to hold foreign Islamic State fighters indefinitely, and their home countries should take them back, a bigwig there said on Thursday.

Abdulkarim Omar, joint head of foreign relations in the Kurdish-led area, told journalists its administration was holding around 500 imported muscle and 500 family members from around 40 countries, following last year's defeat of Islamic State in nearly all territory it once held in Syria and Iraq.

"For us it is a very large number because these ISISis are dangerous and they committed massacres, and their presence in our detention is an opportunity for the international community to put them on trial," Omar said, using an Arabic acronym for Islamic State members.

Backed by the United States and its allies, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militia alliance captured swathes of northern and eastern Syria from Islamic State over the past two years, including the jihadists' one-time capital Raqqa.

The SDF is now fighting to take the last few villages Islamic State holds along the Euphrates River in Syria, close to the border with Iraq, and has detained more imported muscle, Omar said.

Omar said the administration in the area lacked the resources to properly rehabilitate so many prisoners. It would put Syrians on trial, but not foreigners, and it would not execute anyone as it did not impose the death penalty
.

"We will try on the path of dialogue... to hand them over to their countries, but if our hope is cut, we will have other options," he said. He declined to explain what he meant by "other options" apart from no longer detaining the prisoners.

Omar was speaking at a news conference in Qamishli near the Ottoman Turkish border to announce that Sudan was taking back a captured Sudanese woman who had joined Islamic State.

She was one of only 50 or 60 people taken back by their countries so far, including women and kiddies, Omar said. He said Russia and Indonesia had each taken back families.

The continued presence of imported muscle in an unstable part of the world posed a danger to the whole international community, because they might take advantage of any new period of chaos to escape, Omar said.

"We alone cannot bear this burden," he said. "This problem is no less dangerous than that of the ISIS state."

Idlib: Despite agreement, Syrian army still sent spies behind enemy lines, shelled Al Nusra, built helicopter fields, while Turkey suggests civilians not flee

Despite Idlib agreement, Syrian Army spies continue operations behind enemy lines
To be fair, the agreement is not yet finalized. And anyway, it is between Russia and Turkey without any consultation of Syria that can be seen.
[AlMasdar] (10:15 A.M.) – On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan reached an agreement in Sochi that would establish a 10-15km demilitarized zone inside the Idlib Governorate.

However, despite the Russian-Turkish agreement in Sochi, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has continued their psychological warfare campaign in an effort to hound the jihadist rebels in the Idlib Governorate and its surroundings.

Most recently, the official media wing of the Tiger Forces released a video showing a Syrian Arab Army spy touring the key town of Saraqib, which is located in the northwestern countryside of the Idlib Governorate and just south of the Aleppo provincial border.

As shown in the video below, the Syrian Army spy is operating freely inside of Saraqib, despite the fact that Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
and their allies have attempted to crackdown on government sympathizers.

Syrian Army launches powerful attack across southern Idlib

[AlMasdar] (12:15 P.M.) – Despite the recent Turkish-Russian agreement, the intense shelling between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their rebel adversaries in the Idlib Governorate has yet to dissipate.

According to a military source in nearby Hama, the Syrian Arab Army launched a powerful attack across the southern Idlib axis, targeting several trenches that were dug up by the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and their allies.

The military source said the Syrian Arab Army concentrated most of their artillery shells and missiles on the jihadist trenches that were dug between the towns of Khan Sheikhoun and Khuwayn in southern Idlib.

A Syrian Arab Army source in Damascus told Al-Masdar News on Wednesday that the military has yet to pull back their troops from the Idlib-Hama axis, adding that they have not yet received information regarding the location of the demilitarized zone.

With Russian and Turkish soldiers preparing to deploy to this newly agreed upon buffer-zone, it appears that if the Syrian Arab Army does in fact launch an offensive in Idlib, it will likely be concentrated on the strategic district of Jisr Al-Shughour in the southwestern part of the province.

Jisr Al-Shughour has long been a jihadist stronghold and it hosts two of the largest groups: Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and the Turkestan Islamic Party.

Both of the aforementioned jihadist groups have a large number of foreign combatants that have proven incredibly important in the previous rebel offensives in the Idlib Governorate.

Syrian Army reportedly building new helicopter fields near southwest Idlib

[AlMasdar] (2:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is building new helicopter fields near the provincial border of the Idlib Governorate, a military source told Al-Masdar News this afternoon.

According to the military source, the Syrian Arab Army is building the helicopters fields inside the town of Jubb Ramleh, which is located near the Al-Ghaab Plain of southwest Idlib and Jabal Al-Akrad region of northeast Latakia.

The military source said that these helicopter fields will be used for the Syrian Arab Army’s upcoming operations that are expected to take place in northeast Latakia and southwest Idlib.

While the locations of the demilitarized zones in Idlib have yet to be announced, the Syrian Arab Army expects that they will not include areas controlled by jihadist groups like Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and the Turkestan Islamic Party.

Both the Syrian Arab Army and Russian military have made the key city of Jisr Al-Shughour a top priority because of the large presence of jihadist groups.

Jisr Al-Shughour is strategically located near the Hatay Province and the Idlib-Latakia Highway, which is another reason why the Syrian Arab Army wants this area cleared.

For the Russian military, the constant jihadist drone attacks on the Hmeimim Airbase from Jisr Al-Shughour has prompted them to threaten a large-scale operation to clear this area.

Civilians will remain in Syria’s Idlib: Turkish FM
2018-09-20

[AlMasdar] (5:20 P.M.) – The residents and displaced civilians inside the Idlib Governorate will remain, the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Tuesday.

“The borders of Idlib will be protected under the memorandum of understanding signed in Sochi. There would be no change in the status of Idlib,” Cavusoglu said at a news conference, as quoted by the state-owned Anadolu News Agency.

The Turkish Foreign Minister added that the newly agreed upon demilitarized zone in the Idlib Governorate will provide a safe haven for these civilians.

Cavusoglu’s comments came just one day after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan traveled to Sochi to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in order to discuss the fate of the Idlib Governorate.

Former Scalia Law Clark Drops Pictures and Evidence That Blows Christine Ford's Case Wide Open
[GP] Is this a case of mistaken identity? Accuser Christine Blasey Ford is waging a war on Trump’s SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh with decades-old, unsubstantiated claims of sexual assault in an effort to derail his confirmation to the Supreme Court.

Judge Kavanaugh has categorically denied the allegations and even told Senator Orin Hatch he wasn’t at the party in question.

Ed Whelan, Justice Scalia’s former law clerk and president of conservative think tank the Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC), came out in defense of Brett Kavanaugh and said compelling evidence will come out next week exonerating Kavanaugh.

On Thursday afternoon, Ed Whelan started dropping pictures and evidence that may blow Christine Ford’s case wide open.

The "Maryland suburban home"‐the scene of the alleged sexual assault described by Christine Ford to WaPo as being ’not too far from the Columbia Country Club’ may have belonged to Kavanaugh’s friend named Chris Garrett.

Indian police arrest man for allegedly raping his daughter
[DAWN] Police have arrested a 40-year-old man on Wednesday for allegedly raping his teenage daughter for four years in western India.

Police officer S.B. Patil said the man was living with his 14-year-old daughter after separating from his wife and two sons seven years ago in Thane city near Mumbai, India's financial capital.

The girl approached her neighbours who helped her in filing a police complaint against her father this week, Patil said.

Police arrested her father on Wednesday, he said.

Rising incidents of brutal sexual assaults against girls and women have galvanized India where such crimes had been quietly accepted in the past.

The government has increased punishment for rape of an adult to 20 years in prison.

India's government also approved the death penalty for people raping children under the age of 12.

Homs: Russian FM says US proposed refugees leave Rukban camp for SAA territory
[AlMasdar] The U.S. proposed refugees at the Rukban Camp in southern Homs leave the area for Syrian government-held territories, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday afternoon.

The Russian Foreign Ministry did not provide anymore details regarding this alleged proposition by the U.S. military.

The U.S. and Russian governments have been at odds over the fate of the Rukban Refugee Camp, with both sides trading accusations over the suffering of the people there.

Due to the U.S.’ control over the Tanf Zone in southern Homs, the Damascus and Moscow have blamed Washington for the plight of the refugees, adding that their occupation of this vast desert area has done more harm than good.

In turn, the U.S. has accused the Syrian and Russian governments of purposely prohibiting aid from reaching the Rukban Camp.

With the recent departure of one of the largest U.S.-backed rebel groups in the Tanf Zone, it appears that the U.S. is working to find a solution to issue with the Rukban Camp and their eventual departure from the area.

Idlib agreement.

The attack, however, was foiled as the government forces shot down the armed drone before unloading its explosives on Army positions near Salma.

The Syrian Army responded with heavy artillery and rocket shelling which targeted jihadi positions in Jisr al-Shughur where the drone is believed to have been launched.

The failed attack comes a few days after Russia and Turkey concluded a deal on a de-militarized zone along the frontlines in Idlib, Hama and latakia provinces.

Afghanistan
Foggy Bottom Breaking News: Pakistan Continues to Provide ‘Safe Havens' for Taliban
[Breitbart] Pakistan remained a safe haven last year for Afghan Taliban and Haqqani Network (HQN) jihadis despite the pressure the Trump administration applied on the country to stop harboring terrorist groups, the U.S. State Department reported on Wednesday.

In its Country Reports on Terrorism 2017 released this week, which cover terrorist activities across the world last year, State noted:
The Pakistani government pledged support to political reconciliation between the Afghan government and the Afghan Taliban but did not restrict the Afghan Taliban and HQN from operating in Pakistan-based safe havens and threatening U.S. and Afghan forces in Afghanistan. Pakistan did not take sufficient action against other externally focused groups such as Lashkar e-Tayyiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) in 2017, which continued to operate, train, organize, and fundraise in Pakistan.

Trump administration officials have described "reconciliation" between the Afghan Taliban and Kabul as the primary goal of the U.S. strategy to end the 17-year-old Afghan war.

In recent months, the U.S. has intensified its efforts to convince the Taliban to engage in peace talks with the Afghan government.

The Pentagon has for years cautioned that Pakistan knowingly serves as a sanctuary for Afghan Taliban and Haqqani terrorists who have killed and maimed U.S. and Afghan troops.

Taliban ally al-Qaeda is also known to operate along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.

Iraq
Anbar antics: ISIS claims to have foiled US military landing near Syrian border
[AlMasdar] The so-called “Islamic State” (ISIS) published a statement on Thursday that claimed their forces foiled a U.S. military landing near the Syrian border.

According to the statement released by ISIS, their terrorist forces allegedly killed three U.S. soldiers and wounded four others.

The terrorist group also claimed that the landing area was under their observation before they carried out their deadly ambush in western Iraq’s Al-Anbar Governorate.

The U.S. military has yet to corroborate these claims by the terrorist group.

ISIS often hyperbolizes their claims in an effort to hide their own losses in their ranks and on the ground.

While the Islamic State has been nearly defeated in both Syria and Iraq, they still have several sleeper cells that are wrecking havoc inside both countries.

Most recently, the Iraqi Army launched a large-scale operation in the Mosul District of the Nineveh Governorate’s provincial capital in order to clear these Islamic State sleeper cells.

The Iraqi Army operation has been relatively successful thus far, as they have managed to kill scores of Islamic State terrorists and cleared several hideouts.

China-Japan-Koreas
Japan’s Abe re-elected as party head, to stay on as PM
[DAWN] Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was re-elected as head of his ruling Liberal Democratic Party in a landslide on Thursday, paving the way for up to three more years as the nation’s leader.

The decisive victory may embolden Abe to pursue his long-sought revision to Japan’s US-drafted pacifist constitution, although the hurdles remain high and doing so would carry political risks.

"It’s time to tackle a constitutional revision," Abe said in a victory speech. "Now the fight is over."

Abe said he’s determined to use his last term to pursue his policy goals to "sum up" Japan’s postwar diplomacy to ensure peace in the country.

"Let’s work together to make a new Japan," he said.

Abe, who has been prime minister since December 2012, has cemented control of his party and received support from conservatives for bringing stability and continuity to economic and diplomatic policies. With a third term as party leader, Abe is poised to become Japan’s longest-serving leader in August 2021.
