Your Weekly East Boston MS-13 Gang Update: Member gets 21 months on RICO charge and for selling gun to informant
In which it is demonstrated that It’s not just jihadis who are fatally attracted to informants and undercover agents.
[Universal Hub] A federal judge yesterday sentenced Manuel "Scooby" Landaverde to 21 months in federal prison for being an MS-13 member and selling a gun to an informant in Everett in 2015.

With credit for the 15 months he has already spent in federal custody, that means Landaverde, 26, will be released in six months - after which, the US Attorney's office in Boston says, he faces deportation to his native El Salvador.

Landaverde, who pleaded guilty in July, was captured via a wire selling the gun to the informant - who had legal issues of his own - in a car parked on Chestnut Street in Everett on April 29, 2015.

The informant was working with federal and state investigators on what turned into a 61-person indictment in 2016. Landaverde, though, escaped arrest until last year, when a state trooper who had been involved in the larger investigation spotted him walking down Everett Avenue in Chelsea.

Landaverde, a member of MS-13's Trece Locos Salvatrucha "clique" in Somerville, was charged with a RICO violation and being an alien in possession of a firearm, but in documents filed in US District Court in Boston, officials said he had links to other crimes:

The hand-to-hand gun sale took up only a small portion of the meeting between Scooby and [the informant]. During the rest of the meeting, Scooby discussed his membership in MS-13 and his participation in the MS-13 RICO conspiracy. He discussed using the firearm he sold, he discussed attacking gang rivals with a machete, and he discussed being attacked himself by rival gang members.

Home Front: Culture Wars
'Cupertino assistant principal catches heat for slamming girls 'skanky hoes' dance team attire
[Mercury] In the weeks following Monta Vista High School’s Homecoming rally, the conversations among students on campus have centered around two things: the disappointment of the graduating class losing to the juniors and what the school’s assistant principal said about the girls on the dance team.

Some of the details around the controversial remark made by assistant principal Mike White are murky, but at least one person overheard him saying members of the senior girls’ dance group dressed up like "skanky hoes." The girls wear black athletic shorts, white tank top and an oversized baseball jersey.

Some have speculated his remark meant to convey that when the girls’ jerseys were closed, it appeared they weren’t wearing anything underneath and that it was not an appropriate look for the performance.

'Gov. Miguel Angel Yunes of Veracruz tells caravanestas - 'sorry no buses'
You must proceed via leather cadillacs.
[AP] SAYULA, Mexico (AP) ‐ Thousands of Central American migrants traveling in a caravan through southern Mexico had their brief hopes of reaching the country’s capital on Saturday dashed after the governor of Veracruz state pulled an offer of dozens of buses to take them there.

Gov. Miguel Angel Yunes announced Friday evening that authorities in Veracruz would be providing not only humanitarian assistance to the migrants but buses to leapfrog them to Mexico City after three grueling weeks spent walking along highways and hitching rides to reach the coastal state.

"It is very important that they be able to move soon from Veracruz toward another place," Yunes said in a video message. "For that reason, we also offered them transportation so that, if possible, tomorrow ... they may be able to go to Mexico City or to the place they wish."

Organizers of the caravan of about 4,000 migrants told its members that they would be leaving the town of Sayula around 5 a.m. Saturday in convoys of 10 buses for the 10- to 12-hour trip. A jubilant caravan coordinator told the group: "We are all going!"

But almost immediately afterward, Yunes released a second video saying that because Mexico City’s water system was undergoing maintenance and 7 million of its people would be without water over the weekend, it would not be correct to send the migrants there. The maintenance has been known about for weeks.

'Troop deployment creates tense atmosphere on US border
Translation: The Troop Deployment is already working.
[AP] BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) ‐ As the first active-duty military troops sent to the U.S. border with Mexico installed coils of razor wire on a bridge and a riverbank Friday, a sense of unease spread across Texas’ Rio Grande Valley.

President Donald Trump’s portrayal of a border under siege by drug smugglers and other criminals is at odds with what residents in towns along the 1,954-mile (3,126-kilometer) divide with Mexico see in their daily routines, with U.S. border towns consistently ranking among the safest in the country.

Some Valley residents question the need for a large military presence and fear it will tarnish the area’s image. And some are afraid of violence if and when the caravan of Central American migrants that the troops have been sent to confront reaches the U.S. border.

While the southern tip of Texas is the busiest corridor for illegal crossings, border agents make many arrests far from public view, on uninhabited banks of the Rio Grande and on nearby dirt paths and roads lined by thick brush.

"I feel safer here than when I go up to bigger cities," lifelong Rio Grande Valley resident Emmanuel Torres said Friday while working at a coffee shop in Brownsville, the region’s largest city, with about 200,000 people.

Torres, 19, said the area feels "a lot like family," and he worries the military presence will fuel outsiders’ perceptions of a dysfunctional border.

"People that don’t live here are just going to create a bigger negative image," Torres said.

When Trump pledged this week to send up to 15,000 troops to the border in response to the slow-moving caravan of migrants, he unnerved the economically struggling region of 1 million people that stretches over flat, sun-drenched citrus groves and farms of cotton, sugar cane and vegetables.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
'US, Turkish forces begin joint Syria patrols as Turkey continues to strike Kurds
[France24] Turkish and US troops began joint patrols around the northern Syrian town of Manbij on Thursday, even as Turkey continued to shell nearby positions held by Washington’s Kurdish allies.

Turkish military advances into northern Syria over the past two years have put US forces directly in the path of advancing troops from Turkey, Washington's main NATO ally in the region.

The two countries have been working to avert direct confrontation, even as Turkey aims to crush the Kurdish YPG militia. Considered a terrorist group by Ankara, the YPG forms the main part of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) that Washington backs with arms, air support and around 2,000 special forces troops on the ground in the fight against the Islamic State (IS) group.

To avert more fighting, the United States and Turkey agreed three months ago to hold joint patrols around the strategic town of Manbij on the west bank of the Euphrates, under a deal that also saw Kurdish fighters withdraw from the city they had captured at great cost from the IS group.

But as the joint patrols were due to begin this week, Turkey announced a new offensive against the Kurds on the opposite bank of the river, into territory where the SDF has US troop support.

'Military Intelligence Spending Just Posted Biggest Spike in a Decade
[Defense One] With an 18 percent increase this year, the Pentagon’s $22 billion intelligence tab is rising faster than civilian spy agencies.

Pentagon intelligence spending rose nearly 18 percent over the past year, a sign the military is ramping up its spying-and-intel-gathering activities around the world.

While military intelligence spending has risen between two and seven percent since 2016, the increase from $19.2 billion in fiscal 2017 to $22.1 billion in fiscal 2018 represents the largest annual spike since the Pentagon began releasing the figures a decade ago. (Defense One has adjusted all figures from then-year dollars to current 2018 values.)

"Current operations are a huge driver of intelligence spending," said Travis Sharp, a defense spending analyst with the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments. "The level of resources that’s dedicated to supporting [intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance] activities is pretty substantial."

By comparison, money spent on the National Intelligence Program ‐ U.S. spy activities done outside of the military ‐ increased about 6.7 percent in real terms between 2017 and 2018. Over that same period, the Pentagon’s total budget increased about 6 percent.

Pentagon officials do not publicly detail how they spend the billions they get for intelligence, citing a need for secrecy, but they do release two figures each year: How much they request and how much Congress approved.

Current military intelligence spending is increasing at a rate not seen since the high point of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, a time when hundreds of thousands of American troops were deployed. While there are substantially fewer troops on the ground in those two countries today, the military still relies on a vast intelligence network of people and drones over the battlefield.

Those drones ‐ flown by a mix of troops and contractors ‐ collect video and signals ‐ which is reviewed by analysts and machines.

"That chain, from targeting to collection, to processing, to analysis, to dissemination ‐ the intelligence cycle is expensive and manpower-intensive," Sharp said.

'Why we need some Python spirit - Our absurd cultural climate is ripe for ridicule.
[Spiked] It was George Orwell who pointed out, in an analysis of the goose-step, that it could only flourish in countries where people were afraid enough not to laugh at its silliness. Indeed, it’s very absurdity was a demonstration of power: ’Yes, I am ugly, and you daren’t laugh at me.’

One could put into the same bracket Caligula’s naming of his horse as senator, Colonel Gaddafi’s dress sense, or Manchester University Students’ Union’s recent decision to ban clapping. Power expresses itself when it not only gets away with foolishness but also makes you behave foolishly ‐ nodding along with its asinine choices.

Orwell was optimistic about the UK. The goose-step could not, he guessed, be introduced in Britain, because people would double up in mirth. Yet the powers-that-be ‐ whether at a students’ union, government or media level ‐ have been doing some goose-stepping of their own of late. And it seems that the UK is now cowed enough to have lost its sense of humour.

Monty Python wrote one of their best sketches about silly walks, set in a ministry in which bureaucratic idiocy was so ramified that even this eventuality is covered. But calling silly walks by their proper name is out now, and so is Monty Python: the BBC head of comedy recently said they were ’six Oxbridge white blokes’ who would never be commissioned today.

Interestingly, Monty Python have been damned at the exact moment that their jokes have become more topical. Look at those writers and artists that an era claims to have no use for and you often see the people we need the most. Their view is simply the most dangerous to those who tyrannise us. Here is a choice snippet of Python, from Life of Brian:

'Caravan migrants get their very own Avenatti?

[American Thinker] According to Fox News, Nexus Services Inc. is funding the lawsuits through a civil rights law firm called Nexus Derechos Humanos (Human Rights) Attorneys Inc.

Now, without getting into the legal reasoning of the case, which is aptly exposed by Carlson as well as John Hinderaker of Power Line here, what's vivid about the whole thing is how troubled the firm itself seems to be.
Last April, the Washington Post did a long investigative piece on this same group, because their bail bond agency branch, called 'Libre,' was accused in three states of "preying" on illegal immigrants. According to the Post:

Investigations into a Virginia-based company accused of preying on detained undocumented immigrants have expanded.

Libre by Nexus, an immigration bond services company, is the subject of probes by the attorneys general of Virginia, New York and Washington state, according to state and federal court records.

The previously unreported investigations come on top of a federal probe by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), made public in October.

In a statement, Libre’s parent company, Nexus Services, acknowledged two of the state investigations and did not deny the third.

"Nexus . . . continues to cooperate with responsible inquiries into our business model and the life-affirming work we do every day to support immigrants," CEO Mike Donovan said.

Wow. Just wow.

'If The Disunited States Of America Is To Survive ...
[Mercer at Townhall] We are one American nation. We must unite. We have to unify. We have to come together.

Every faction in our irreparably fractious and fragmented country calls for unity, following events that demonstrate just how disunited the United States of America is.

They all do it.

Calls for unity come loudest from the party of submissives‐the GOP. The domineering party is less guilt-ridden about this elusive thing called "unity."

Democrats just blame Republicans for its absence in our polity and throughout our increasingly uncivil society.

These days, appeals to unity are made by opportunistic politicians who drape themselves in the noble toga of patriotism on tragic occasions. The latest in many was the Pittsburgh synagogue massacre of Oct. 27.

In the name of honesty‐and comity‐let us quit the unity charade.

The U.S. is not united. Neither is America a nation in any meaningful way. It hasn’t been one for a long time.

Consider: In the late 1780s, Americans debated whether to nationalize government or keep it a decentralized affair. The discussion was one in which all early Americans partook, nationwide.

Think about the degree of unity that feat required!

The eternal verities of republicanism and limited government were understood and accepted by all Americans. The young nation’s concerns centered on the fate of freedom after Philadelphia. (The Anti-Federalists, the unsung heroes who gave us the Bill of Rights, turned out to be right.)

Around the time The Federalist Papers were published in American newspapers‐Americans were a nation in earnest.

For it takes a nation to pull that off‐to debate a set of philosophical and theoretical principles like those instantiated in these Papers, Federalist and Anti-Federalist.

The glue that allowed so lofty a debate throughout early America is gone (not to mention the necessary gray matter).

The Tower of Babel that is 21st century America is home not to 4 million but 327 million alienated, antagonistic individuals, diverse to the point of distrust.

Each year, elites pile atop this mass of seething antagonists another million newcomers.

Democrats, who control the intellectual means of production‐schools, social media, TV, the print press, the publishing houses, think tanks, the Permanent Bureaucracy‐they insist mass immigration comports with "who we are as a people."

'The Next Generation Of Warfare: Genetically-Engineered Viruses
[Zero Hedge] Genetically engineered viruses could very well become the next generation of warfare. Deadly viruses modified in labs could be released eliminating entire communities of people as they infect making them a valuable asset to militaries worldwide.

As dystopian as that sounds, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is already working on a project called Insect Allies which will use insects to infect crops with genetically modified viruses that edit the crops’ genetic profile to make them more resilient against disease, as well as natural and manufactured threats to the food supply.
Joe Joseph of The Daily Sheeple said a quick Google search would give you enough information to let you know how horrific this kind of technology can be. "...and you’ll find it fascinating just at how unbelievable a weapon this could be, how unintentionally mistakes can be made that can cause irreversible damage...irreparable damage...to the human race. And I mean, FAST!" Joseph said.

"A gene drive...if let’s just say there’s a mistake, you could feasibly wipe out the human race in a very very short period of time. It’s an unbelievable tool at the disposal of madmen." ‐SHTFPlan
DARPA attempted to squash rising fears about their Insect Allies project and issue reassurances after German and French scientists voiced questions and concerns about the program’s efficacy earlier this month. Those scientists also suggested that it could be "widely perceived as an effort to develop biological agents for hostile purposes and their means of delivery, which‐if true‐would constitute a breach of the Biological Weapons Convention."

If the know-how and means exist to transmit genetic viruses that supposedly create beneficial crop mutations, the opposite will also be possible. DARPA will be able to use insects to deliver gene editing viruses that destroy crops, ruin harvests and adversely affect the wider ecosystem, RT accurately pointed out. This means that those who fear this program are not far off at all for doing so.

Economy
'Charles V. Payne - Last Jobs Report Prior To Midterms Is Spectacular
[Pirates Cove] So many are saying that this election is a referendum on Donald Trump. If that’s the case, then he’s doing an excellent job.

Of course, Democrats will say this is still part of Obama’s recovery, that his policies suddenly started working. Even after 8 years of malaise. The worst post-recession recovery ever. And here we have Chuck Schumer trying to poo-poo the excellent report.

Right, because we passed Obamacare. Costs were skyrocketing because of Ocare. But, hey, what does the Dem party have to say overall?

Funny how they do not mention a thing about economic matters. Abortion, Democrat officials screwing the pooch in PR, people who want extra rights (and some of them are mentally unwell), hating the police, illegal aliens, and ending "hate" (while ignoring their Trump hatred and followers such as Antifa). The last can only be done by government removing 1st Amendment protections.

Weird. They forgot ’climate change.’ Oh, well.

Look, say what you will about Trump, but the economy is doing well with him in the White House. I’m sure #NeverTrumpers will find ways to poo poo the report, as well.

'How Progressive Elite Control of Education Embitters Americans
[National Review] Let me share two seemingly disconnected items. The first comes from the New York Times. Yesterday it profiled five Harvard College freshmen as they discussed how they gained admission into one of the nation’s most selective universities. It was striking how keenly aware they were of the admissions committee’s quirks and biases. It was as if they knew the stew the committee was trying to create, and their challenge was to market themselves as the right kind of ingredient.

There was the Asian-American student who joined the Air Force ROTC in part because she didn’t want to be seen as the "typical Asian." There was another Asian composer from London who says she wouldn’t have "ticked the Asian box" if she had been a STEM student. Another student, a white man, believes he gained admission in part because he was from the Midwest and his family was low-income.

If you’ve ever served on an elite university’s admissions committee, you can see that the students are keenly aware of the game. They highlight their quirks, downplay their privileges, and exaggerate the adversity they had to overcome. (I’ll never forget the young woman who described herself as "formerly homeless" when her wealthy family had merely decided to travel the country in an RV for a year.) Heavily ideological institutions have decided how they want to socially engineer the American elite, and ambitious young Americans must bend to their will.

The second item is a bit strange. This spring we moved from our beloved home in Columbia, Tenn., to Franklin, a Nashville suburb. We were going through boxes as we packed and came across some schoolbooks from my wife’s early elementary-school education. It looked like they were written in a foreign language. You could decipher the words with some difficulty, but they clearly weren’t written in English.

'NYPD Releases Photo Of Suspect Who Scrawled Anti-Semitic Graffiti Inside Brooklyn Synagogue
[Hot Air] There was supposed to be a get-out-the-vote event Thursday night at Union Temple in Prospect Heights but it was canceled after someone used a marker to scrawl anti-Semitic messages throughout the building including the message "Kill all Jews." The story was all over local media in New York last night and Twitter even apologized after "Kill all Jews" became a trending topic on the site. From WABC-TV:

The incident made national news this morning at USA Today and other sites, including Buzzfeed. Glazer told Buzzfeed, "The Generator community experienced, together, how white supremacy, anti-Semitism and racism silences human rights politics and halts progress." She didn’t quite say it, but I think her expectation was that the person responsible would be another white nationalist, possibly someone inspired by the Pittsburgh shooter.

What an inappropriate name!

During the past 22 months, not one person caught or identified as the aggressor in an anti-Semitic hate crime has been associated with a far right-wing group, Mark Molinari, commanding officer of the police department’s Hate Crimes Task Force, told me.

Professor Cornell West wrote about the problem of aggressive Black Jew-hatred a generation ago.

#6  Worse and worse. According to The Daily Caller, Mr. Polite is no unconnected amateur:

  • The suspect in a synagogue vandalism act that forced the cancellation of a Democratic event is reportedly a former City Hall employee who worked on anti-hate crime issues and is a Democratic activist, The Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.

  • The New York Times and a Jewish couple helped the impoverished gay black man attend college where he studied African American studies, according to The Times.

  • He resented New York liberals as patronizing, and railed against Israel and cultural appropriation, according to his Facebook profile.

  • Before knowing his identity, politicians said the vandalism demonstrated why voting Democratic was needed and highlighted government programs to combat such incidents.

'Two dead, five wounded after shooting at Florida yoga studio
[Tallahassee Democrat] The two people killed at Hot Yoga Tallahassee have been identified as Dr. Nancy Van Vessem, 61, and Maura Binkley, 21.

The shooter was identified as 40-year-old Scott Paul Beierle, according to the Tallahassee Police Department.

Van Vessem was internist who served as chief medical director for Capital Health Plan.
"Our Capital Health Plan family is deeply shocked and saddened about the tragic loss of our beloved friend and colleague, Dr. Nancy Van Vessem, among the other victims of this terrible incident,” CHP said in a statement.

“As CHP's longtime chief medical director, Nancy has been a guiding, visionary force in our daily work to serve the wellness and health care needs of thousands of families in this community. Her dedication, caring, leadership, humanity, and experience made her one of the most respected, inspiring, and accomplished medical professionals in the state and country. Our hearts are filled with sorrow and prayers for her family. We all have been so blessed to have Nancy in our lives."

Both Binkley an Van Vessem had ties to Florida State University. President John Thrasher issued a statement expressing bereavement over their losses.

"There are no words to express the shock and grief we feel after learning of the deaths of Maura Binkley and Dr. Nancy Van Vessem," Tharsher said. "To lose one of our students and one of our faculty members in this tragic and violent way is just devastating to the Florida State University family. We feel this loss profoundly and we send our deepest sympathies to Maura's and Nancy's loved ones while we pray for the recovery of those who were injured.”

Tallahassee Police Chief Michael DeLeo said the efforts or first responders, volunteers and others on Friday taps into what it means to live in Tallahassee.

"I’m very proud of how our community rallies together in really strange, critical and understandably some scary times," he said shortly before 1 a.m. "But the fact is, look at the resiliency of the spirit. The fact that we had people fight this attacker to help save other people and prevent him from doing further harm really speaks to the true spirit of Tallahassee and what this community is about."

'Former Dem Leader in Texas Implicated in Organized Voter Fraud Ring, AG Says
[PJ] A former Democratic Party leader in Texas funded an "organized voter fraud ring" in Fort Worth with money he received from campaigns, state officials claim.

Earlier this month, four women were arrested and indicted on nearly thirty felony counts of voter fraud: Leticia Sanchez; her daughter, Leticia Sanchez Tepichin; Rosa Solis; and Laura Parra.

The state’s notice of intent in Leticia Sanchez’s criminal case states that "Sanchez engaged in organized criminal activity in collaboration with her three co-defendants" and Stuart Clegg, the former executive director for the Tarrant County Democratic Party.

After learning about the state investigation into her "vote harvesting group," the elder Sanchez had her daughter send text messages to the others involved in the scheme, advising them not to cooperate with investigators, according to the notice.

One message, translated from Spanish, stated: "Hello, there is a group of malicious people investigating our work. We have been told by our boss, Mr. Stuart, that we should not give any information. Just give them the phone number of the lawyer who is in charge of this matter. If anyone has contacted you, asked any type of questions, please tell us immediately so we can let the lawyer know. Notify immediately."

"I would tell anybody it’s a good idea, before you talk to investigators, to make sure you talk to an attorney," Clegg told the Star-Telegram. "Isn’t that just general sense?"

State officials say Sanchez collaborated with others to use residents’ mail-in ballots to vote for certain down-ballot candidates during the 2016 Democratic primary.

'FBI Arrests Iraqi Refugee in Tucson for Building Car Bomb, Teaching Others
[PJ] The FBI arrested 30-year-old Ahmad Suhad Ahmad in Tucson, Arizona, last week following a two-year investigation.

According to the limited information contained in the two-page criminal complaint, Ahmad had told a confidential source in December 2016 that he knew how to detonate a bomb using a cell phone -- a technique he said he learned during the war in Iraq.

In April 2017, the same confidential source asked Ahmad if he knew how to make a car bomb for a target in Mexico, and if he could show him how to build one. Ahmad agreed.

A week later Ahmad showed the source an image on his cell phone of explosive materials and instructions written in Arabic, which he promised to translate into English. He also met with other sources and undercover FBI agents about planning to build the bomb.

On April 26, 2017, Ahmad traveled with the sources and the FBI undercover agents to an apartment complex in Las Vegas. He brought with him a number of items to build the bomb, including a circuit tester, electrical tape, and Permatex epoxy. The undercover agents also brought items from a list provided by Ahmad.

'Dem Panic? Ocasio-Cortez calls Trump ‘monster', Biden threatens violence, wild-eyed Obama's voice cracks during rant
[American Mirror] With the critical midterm elections taking place on Tuesday, it appears Democrats are starting to panic.

In recent weeks, Democrats and many in the mainstream media have largely blamed President Donald Trump’s "rhetoric" for incivility across the country. Yet, several prominent Democrats have made incendiary ‐ and sometimes violent ‐ comments about their Republican counterparts.

On Wednesday, New York Democratic candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sent out a bizarre email demanding Democrats "push back" against Republicans and Trump, who she referred to as "cold-hearted monsters."

In a very lengthy email, the self-described socialist vowed to protect voters from "white supremacist forces" that she claims are terrorizing Americans under Trump.

"Six days from now, we can defeat the brutal white supremacist forces of anti-Semitism, anti-immigrant nativism, and racism. We can hold accountable the cold-hearted monsters who have repeatedly attacked our health care," the email stated.

"We can send a message to the bigots and billionaires that this country belongs to all of us. We can win if we show up on November 6. We must end Republican control of Congress and begin to reclaim our nation," it added.

'Kavanaugh Accuser Admits: I Made Up Claims of Sexual Assault to
[Town Hall] A woman who accused Justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault admitted to congressional investigators she made up her claims to "get attention."

According to a letter sent to Attorney General Jeff Sessions late Friday afternoon, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley referred Judy Munro-Leighton for criminal prosecution and revealed her actions were part of a ploy to take down Kavanaugh's nomination.

From the letter, bolding is mine:
Given her relatively unique name, Committee investigators were able to use open-source research to locate Ms. Munro-Leighton and determine that she: (1) is a left-wing activist; (2) is decades older than Judge Kavanaugh; and (3) lives in neither the Washington DC area nor California, but in Kentucky.

On November 1, 2018, Committee investigators connected with Ms. Munro-Leighton by phone and spoke with her about the sexual-assault allegations against Judge Kavanaugh she had made to the Committee. Under questioning by Committee investigators, Ms. Munro-Leighton admitted, contrary to her prior claims, that she had not been sexually assaulted by Judge Kavanaugh and was not the author of the original “Jane Doe” letter. When directly asked by Committee investigators if she was, as she had claimed, the “Jane Doe” from Oceanside California who had sent the letter to Senator Harris, she admitted: “No, no, no. I did that as a way to grab attention.

She further confessed to Committee investigators that (1) she “just wanted to get attention”; (2) “it was a tactic”; and (3) “that was just a ploy.” She told Committee investigators that she had called Congress multiple times during the Kavanaugh hearing process – including prior to the time Dr. Ford’s allegations surfaced – to oppose his nomination.

Regarding the false sexual-assault allegation she made via her email to the Committee, she said: “I was angry, and I sent it out.” When asked by Committee investigators whether she had ever met Judge Kavanaugh, she said: “Oh Lord, no.”

Grassley has also referred Julie Swetnik, Michael Avanetti and an unnamed man for criminal prosecution after making false claims to congressional investigators.

'Obama appointed Judge eases requirements under Georgia 'exact match' rule
[The Hill] A federal judge issued a ruling Friday removing barriers to voters flagged as non-citizens by Georgia's "exact match" rules, easing their ability to vote in next week's midterm election.

It's a victory for Democrats, who had worried the rule could keep some of their voters away from the polls during Tuesday's midterm elections. Democrats had been particularly worried the rule could hurt absentee and early voters from their party.

They cast the decision as a win for Democrats and a defeat for the Georgia secretary of state, Brian Kemp, who is also the Republican candidate for governor.

"Another day, another major defeat for Brian Kemp’s voter suppression efforts," Rebecca DeHart, executive director for the Democratic Party of Georgia, said in a statement.

Voting rights has become a major issue in Kemp's race against Democrat Stacy Abrams, who would be the nation's first African-American woman elected governor if she wins. The two are locked in a tight race.

Kemp's office largely shrugged off the decision.

In a statement, Candice L. Broce, press secretary and staff attorney at the office, called it "a minor change to the current system."

Eleanor L. Ross, U.S. district judge from the Northern District of Georgia, ruled that if the exact match rules were kept in place, it could cause people with suspended voter registration applications "irreparable harm if they lose the right to vote."

'Former CIA Director John Brennan Endorses Beto O'Rourke in Texas
[Breitbart] Former CIA director John Brennan endorsed prospective Texas senator Beto O’Rourke via Twitter on Friday morning.'

"As a former resident of Texas and a proud UT-Austin alumnus," John Brennan said, "I believe Beto O’Rourke is the type of individual Texans need in the U.S. Senate to represent their best interests. He has the integrity, intellect, and character that is in short supply in Congress. Vote!"

Brennan has said that "as the child of an immigrant," he will "vote for candidates who believe in America living up to its values & remaining the world’s melting pot." Brennan said that he wants "individuals who are honest, have integrity, reject inflammatory rhetoric & want to bring us together," and he urged citizens to "vote [their] conscience!"

It is the self-described "nonpartisan" Obama-era CIA director’s first open endorsement of a political candidate but the latest in a long line of gestures in opposition to President Donald Trump. In August 2018, Trump responded by revoking Brennan’s security clearance.

At the University of Texas in October, Brennan said: "Donald Trump has not helped to encourage the type of civil discourse and public engagement, and his rhetoric too frequently, I think, fuels these feelings and sentiments that now are bleeding over into potentially acts of violence."

Incumbent senator Ted Cruz and newcomer Beto O’Rourke are having a knock-down, drag-out fight for the Texas seat. Just days before the ballots come in, polls suggest the race is too close to call. Nonpartisan Cook Political Report calls the race a "toss-up."

Iraq
Violence leaves 174 dead, wounded in Iraq in October, lowest since 10/2012
Baghdad (IraqiNew.com) Violence left 174 Iraqis dead and maimed throughout the month of October, the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
said early Friday as the country struggles to recover from four years of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
militancy.

According to a monthly toll released by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI), 69 Iraqis died and 105 were maimed during October in actions of violence and armed conflict.

UNAMI said its numbers continue to exclude military personnel, but still include off-duty security and military members, as well as civil defense and public utility sentries.

It quoted the head of the UN mission, Jan Kubis, saying that the toll, though regrettable, is the lowest since October 2012, which gives a positive sign that the country moves out the circle of violence.

UNAMI said Nineveh and Baghdad, respectively, were the most affect with 29 deaths.

Iraq declared victory over Islamic State bully boyz late 2017, ending three years of war to retake territories occupied by the murderous Moslem group. But the bully boyz continue to stage occasional attacks against security members and civilians.

Saudi got rid of Jamal Khashoggi's body by 'dissolving' it, claims Turkish official
[DAWN] The body of Jamal Khashoggi was "dissolved" after he was murdered and dismembered in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul a month ago, a Ottoman Turkish official said Friday, as the journalist's fiancee criticised the United States (US) reaction as "devoid of moral foundation".

"We now see that it wasn't just cut up, they got rid of the body by dissolving it," Yasin Aktay, an official in Turkey's ruling party, told the Hurriyet newspaper on Friday.

The claim echoed what a Ottoman Turkish official had earlier told the Washington Post ─ for which Khashoggi was a contributor ─ that authorities are investigating a theory the body was destroyed in acid.

"According to the latest information we have, the reason they cut up the body is it was easier to dissolve it," said Aktay, an adviser to Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First

15-year-old servant murdered in Karachi's Clifton area
[DAWN] KARACHI: A 15-year-old domestic servant was tortured and strangled to death in a bungalow in Clifton area, police and hospital officials said on Thursday.

Initially, the teenager’s death had been treated as "suicide" and doctors at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) had also declared it as a case of "hanging", but re-examination of the body by a medical board on the request of police revealed that he was killed, said additional police surgeon Dr Qarar Ahmed Abbasi.

Clifton SHO Javed Abro said Mohammad Imran, 15, was found dead in a bungalow owned by a factory owner in Block-8 of Clifton at midnight between Oct 30 and 31.

The body was shifted to the JPMC at around 4.30am where doctors termed his death "caused by hanging".

However,

when on Wednesday morning the Sherlocks visited the bungalow, they were informed that the boy had hanged himself by attaching his belt with a pipe in the wall, which was four feet high, said the area SHO. It raised doubts among the officers.

In the meantime, the house owner was trying to shift the body to Beautiful Downtown Peshawar

through a plane as the victim originally hailed from Dir. The police rushed to the airport, approached the cargo office and brought the body to cold storage for re-examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.

On the police request, a medical board, comprising Prof Farhat Mirza, police surgeon Dr Aijaz Khokhar and additional police surgeon Dr Qarar Ahmed Abbasi on Thursday morning re-examined the body and declared the case as that of murder.

"There were torture marks on his body," said Dr Abbasi, adding that the teenager was strangled to death.

The house owner denied his involvement in the murder, the police officer said.

Two in five Americans say Islam 'is incompatible with US values'
[Al Jazeera] A large proportion of non-Moslem Americans think Islam is incompatible with American values, research by the New America foundation and the American Moslem Institution found.

According to the findings announced on Thursday, 56 percent of Americans believed Islam was compatible with American values and 42 percent said it was not. About 60 percent believed US Moslems were as patriotic as others, while 38 percent they were not.

The study said that although a big majority of Americans - 74 percent - accepted there was "a lot" of bigotry against Moslems existed, 56 percent said they were concerned about "extremism" spreading within the Moslem community.

Researchers found that Republicans were more likely to hold negative perceptions of Moslems and Islam, with 71 percent saying Islam was incompatible with American values. About 56 percent of Republicans also admitted they would be concerned if a mosque was built in their neighbourhood.

A slight majority of Republicans disagreed with the statement that having more than 100 Moslem candidates in the midterm elections was a positive thing.

Robert McKenzie, a senior fellow at the New America foundation and one of the authors of the study, said there were a number of factors that contributed the shaping of anti-Moslem sentiment, and that they were not limited to the political right.

New details emerge regarding Saada incident blamed on coalition
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] New details emerged regarding the August bus incident in Saada which was targeted by the Arab coalition, exposing the Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias’ propaganda.

Testimonies from journalists who were close to the site of the incident in Dhahian on August 9 indicate a different scenario from that of the pro-Iranian militias.

Although both the Arab coalition backing the legitimate government in Yemen

and the joint Assessment Team had confirmed back in August that the targeted bus in Saada was carrying senior members of the Houthi militias and that the only mistake was probably the timing and location. The Houthi militia and its media outlets have been exploiting the accident, falsifying the facts, and suggesting that the bus was carrying innocent children.

Jamal Muqbel al-Gharab, a member in the Yemeni Media Union which is affiliated to the Houthis, revealed new details about the incident, after he defected from the group and left the country to a safer location.

Gharab said now he was free to tell what happened that day as he "left Yemen and secured his life", adding in a statement he posted few days ago on his Facebook page that he wanted to give his testimony on humanitarian grounds and to clear his conscience.

He said: "When I saw and heard that the Arab coalition aircraft targeted a bus carrying dozens of children in Dhahyan, in Saada, I was saddened by this incident like other thousands of Yemenis."

The defected journalist Gharab added that he had visited the site of the incident as part of a Houthi media and human rights

delegation headed by Hashim Sharaf el-Dinne, deputy Information minister in the coup government.

Gharab said: "But I found a reality different from the one promoted by the Houthi media," as after more than two hours of investigation and the collecting of information and photos, and through the testimonies of many people and eyewitnesses and owners of neighboring shops, the bus was carrying a group of the Houthi militias, headed by Salah Faiq Mohammed al-Sabeen and Yahya Bashiri who were killed in the raid. This information, he said, is the same as already confirmed by a lot of other media colleagues, led by journalist Samia al-Aghbari at the time, and anyone can refer to her page, in reference to her Facebook account.

US re-imposes all Iran sanctions lifted under nuclear deal
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Trump administration on Friday announced the re-imposition of all US. sanctions on Iran that had been lifted under the 2015 nuclear deal.

The sanctions will take effect on Monday and cover Iran’s shipping, financial and energy sectors. It’s the second batch of penalties that the administration has re-imposed since President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
withdrew from the landmark deal in May.

With limited exceptions, the sanctions will penalize countries that don’t stop importing Iranian oil and foreign companies that do business with blacklisted Iranian entities, including Iran’s central bank, a number of private financial institutions and state-run port and shipping companies.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the sanctions are "aimed at fundamentally altering the behavior of the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran."

He has released a list of 12 demands that Iran must meet if it wants the sanctions lifted. They include ending support for terrorism, ending military engagement in Syria and completely halting its nuclear and ballistic missile development.

"Maximum pressure means maximum pressure," he said.

Pompeo said eight nations, which other officials identified as US allies such as Italia, India, Japan and South Korea, will receive temporary waivers allowing them to continue to import Iranian petroleum products for a limited period as long as they end such imports entirely. He said those countries had made efforts to eliminate their imports but could not complete the task by Monday’s deadline.

Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin said 700 more Iranian companies and people would be added to the sanctions lists under the reimposed sanctions.

Iran hard-liners in Congress and elsewhere probably will be disappointed in the sanctions because they were pushing for no oil import waivers as well as the complete disconnection of Iran from the main international financial messaging network known as SWIFT.

Mnuchin defended the move to allow some Iranian banks to remain connected to SWIFT, saying that the Belgium-based firm had been warned that it will face penalties if sanctioned institutions are permitted to use it.

Pompeo and Mnuchin both said the sanctions will have exceptions for humanitarian purchases.

Tanzeem Ittehad-i-Ummat calls for nationwide calm, peaceful protests
[DAWN] Lahore-based Tanzeem Ittehad-e-Ummat Chairman Zia ul Haq Naqshbandi, while addressing a presser on Friday, called for nationwide calm and urged protest leaders to ask their followers to desist from hurting people or damaging personal property.

The head of the religious organization appealed to the nation in a presser accompanied by other religious leaders at Lahore Press Club.

"This is not a time to fight each other, it is a time to be peaceful, to have courage. Are we trying to tell the world that we [religious leaders] are politically inclined? That we are snuffies and want to harm our own people?" he asked.

"We request protesters and their leadership that they tell their followers... That they can protest, but don't take people's lives or damage private property. Take care of minorities. All citizens in Pakistain have equal rights."

Spain prosecutors seek up to 25 years jail for Catalan separatists
[PULSE.NG] Spanish prosecutors called Friday for Catalan separatist leaders to be tossed in the slammer
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
for up to 25 years on charges of rebellion or misuse of public funds over last year's failed secession bid.

In a statement ahead of an upcoming Supreme Court trial, the prosecution service said it was seeking prison sentences against 12 Catalan leaders ranging from seven to 25 years, the latter jail term being sought for former Catalan vice-president Oriol Junqueras.

Prosecutors want two influential Catalan civic leaders, Jordi Sanchez and Jordi Cuixart, and former regional parliamentary speaker Carme Forcadell tossed in the slammer
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
for 17 years.

In a separate case, they said they were also seeking four to 11 years jail against former regional police leaders including Catalonia's then police chief Josep Lluis Trapero, whom they also accuse of rebellion.

In its statement, the prosecution service said pro-independence leaders planned to use all possible means to achieve secession in October 2017, "including -- knowing that the state wouldn't accept this situation -- any violence needed to secure this criminal result."

It said separatist leaders had instigated "big citizen mobilisations" that represented an "intimidating force" and had also used the regional police force, with its 17,000 agents, which followed their orders.

UK armed police raid Sony Music HQ after double stabbing
[DAWN] Armed police stormed into Sony Music's offices in London on Friday after two people were stabbed in what the company said was a violent argument between two kitchen staff.

Panicked employees were evacuated from the large office building, which also houses Warner Music Group, and police said one person had been tossed in the slammer
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
"Two members of the catering team were involved in a violent altercation," Sony Music said in a statement.

Police said they were called at around 11:00am (1100 GMT) and dispatched firearms officers and emergency medical workers.

Maria Afolabi, 25, a finance analyst with Warner, said the first she knew of an issue was when the fire alarm sounded.

As she made her way out of the building, she said she saw a Sony staff member in tears and armed police storming up the stairs.

"We didn't know what it was. They had massive guns and were running up," she told AFP.

An unnamed Sony employee was quoted by the Press Association news agency as saying that the kitchen staff, employed by a catering company, were "running round chasing each other" and "slashing each other up".

The street was briefly cordoned off during the incident.

London's Metropolitan Police said in a statement that evacuations took place "as a precaution".

"Two people have suffered stab injuries ‐ we await an update on their condition," police said, adding that there was "no evidence of any firearms" used in the incident.

The area is in the High Street Kensington shopping district and Sony Music is opposite the offices of the Daily Mail newspaper.

Trish Ellis, a personal assistant at The Mail on Sunday newspaper who witnessed the incident, told PA: "Armed police were going in six-plus at a time, and more and more of them but they seemed to be keeping people in the building.

"Gradually they started to release people in tens, twenties."

National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
after the United States dropped its insistence on prolonging the measures despite a peace deal with Æthiopia, diplomats said Friday.

Britannia circulated a draft resolution to the council on Thursday that calls for lifting the arms embargo and all travel bans, asset freezes and targeted sanctions on Eritrea, according to the text seen by AFP.

The council is to vote on the proposed resolution on November 14. Diplomats said they expected the measure to be adopted after the US change in position.

Eritrea and Æthiopia signed a peace deal in July, but the United States, backed by La Belle France and Britannia, insisted that Eritrea would first have to show progress on respect for human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
before sanctions could be lifted.

That position however recently changed ‐ a shift some diplomats said was decided by US national security adviser John Bolton, who dealt with the Eritrea-Æthiopia conflict when he served as UN ambassador.

The council slapped sanctions on Eritrea in 2009 for its alleged support to al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
jihadists in Somalia but the draft resolution acknowledged that UN monitors had "not found conclusive evidence that Eritrea supports al-Shabaab."

The Eritrean government had long denied backing the group and Foreign Minister Osman Mohammed Saleh slammed the sanctions as "unwarranted" in his address to the General Assembly in September.

US, Turkey begin joint patrols in Syrian city

"The joint patrol in Manbij between Ottoman Turkish armed forces and the US began today at 3.53pm," Defence Minister Hulusi Akar told politicians, according to state-run news agency

The city is controlled by the US-backed Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia, which Turkey considers a terrorist group.

The patrol took place around the Sajur River that divides Manbij and the region of Jarabulus, which was captured by Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian rebels from the bad boy Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. There are US forces in the Sunni Arab-majority Manbij ‐ which lies just 30 kilometres south of the Ottoman Turkish border ‐ and Washington has been closely working with the YPG in the fight against IS.

Europe
New Caledonia to vote on independence from France
[Al Jazeera] The people of New Caledonia will vote on Sunday on whether they want full independence from La Belle France, which has ruled the small archipelago in the Pacific since the 19th century.

The islands, a nearly three-hour flight east of Australia, secured more autonomy amid growing calls for independence by the indigenous Kanak people in the 1980s.

When an estimated 174,000 voters who qualify as long-term residents head to the polls on Sunday, it will be the second referendum on New Caledonia's political status. The first, held in 1987, was widely boycotted by the Kanaks, resulting in more than 98 percent electing to remain with La Belle France.

Turkish military attacks Syria’s Hasakah province
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Ottoman Turkish military has expanded their attack in northern Syria, today, with a new strike on the al-Hasakah province.

According to a report from northern Syria, the Ottoman Turkish military struck the positions of the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) along the Hasakah-The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

border.

The Ottoman Turkish military reportedly struck the Syrian Democratic Forces’ positions near the key town of Ras al-’Ayn, which is located just east of the al-Raqqa Governorate.

This attack by the Ottoman Turkish military comes just hours after the Syrian Democratic Forces and U.S. Army began joint patrols in Tal al-Abyad and Kobani (var. ’Ayn al-’Arab).

The Ottoman Turkish military often avoids attacking the al-Hasakah Governorate because of the absence of rebel forces in the area; however, due to US-SDF joint patrols, they have shifted their attention northwestern Hasakah.

Opposition senator Javier Garcia told AFP that such authorization can only be issued by the General Assembly through a constitutional mandate.

Migrant surge 'normal', US should not reinforce border: UN official
[Al Ahram] The caravan of migrants colonists making its way through Mexico is "kind of a normal event" and the United States ought not to reinforce its border against them, a United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
official said on Friday.

With days to go before mid-term elections, US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
has called the surge of people an "invasion", ordered troops to the border and suggested any rock-throwing by migrants colonists should be treated as equivalent to gunfire.

Joel Millman, a front man for the UN’s International Organization for Migration (IOM), told a UN briefing in Geneva there had been similar caravans for many years, and the group was still hundreds of miles away from the United States.

"So (using) words like ’invasion’ and things like that is assuming that this is a new phenomenon which is a drastic emergency, and I don’t think that anyone at IOM would share that view," he said.

"This is kind of a normal event."

Militarised frontiers tended not to deter people from crossing borders, he added. Instead, they increased the profits of criminal people-smuggling gangs and led to deaths among migrants colonists.

"Militarising the border is not something we are ever in favor of," he said.

The migrant group has become a major issue in campaigning for the elections on Nov. 6, when Republicans will seek to maintain control of both congressional chambers.

Caravan Migrants File Lawsuit Against Trump, U.S. Government
Hattip Besoeker.
[Bongino] Twelve migrants colonists traveling on foot from Honduras to the United States filed a lawsuit against President Trump and the Department of Homeland Security on Thursday.

The lawsuit claims the migrant’s Fifth Amendment due process rights would be violated and that the president cannot utilize the military to stop asylum-seekers from entering the country when they have a fair claim. It also criticizes President Trump for stoking "fear and hysteria" with his claim that gang members have joined the migrant caravan.

Twelve Honduran nationals are listed as plaintiffs in the suit which was filed in the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. The lawsuit said the "well-documented human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
crisis" in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador is widely known. It also claims the plaintiff’s right to the Administrative Procedures Act and the Declaratory Judgement Act were being infringed upon.

During a Thursday speech on immigration at the White House, President Trump said his administration was finalizing a plan to end the abuse of the United States’ asylum program.

"The biggest loophole drawing illegal aliens to our borders is the use of fraudulent or meritless asylum claims to gain entry into our great country," said Trump. "An alien simply crosses the border illegally, finds a Border Patrol agent, and using well-coached language ‐ by lawyers and others that stand there trying to get fees or whatever they can get ‐ they’re given a phrase to read. They never heard of the phrase before. They don’t believe in the phrase. But they’re given a little legal statement to read, and they read it. And now, all of a sudden, they’re supposed to qualify. But that’s not the reason they’re here."

“Let me just correct you as a non-lawyer. They do not possess those rights if they are in another country and not U.S. citizens. If they possess those rights, then, I don’t know, the entire country of Nigeria — pick a country that is poorer than the United States and say ‘we want to come there,’ president says you can’t come and all of a sudden eight hundred million people sue you for violating their constitutional rights for a country they’ve never been to?” Carlson responded before being cut off.

Libre Nexus is facilitating this illegal migration and could be sued by the victims. Ran into this get out-of-jail without collateral scam reading about Beto's shady financing.

Turkish intelligence informs rebels to get ready for battle east of Euphrates
[ALMASDARNEWS] Ottoman Turkish intelligence officers have reportedly informed the rebel forces in the Afrin region of northwest Aleppo that their next battle will be east of the Euphrates River.

Citing reliable sources which attended the meeting held in Afrin city, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that the Euphrates Shield troops were informed to get ready to redeploy to a new front against the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG).

"Ottoman Turkish Intelligence deliberately directed its talk to all the factions and specified those factions whose fighters are descendent (sic) from areas in Deir Ezzor, al-Raqqah and al-Hasakah provinces, in order to create a sedition between the Kurdish and the Arabs in the area, and the Ottoman Turkish forces tend to send Kurdish fighters loyal to them in the incoming battle of the east of the Euphrates so that their intention to create a sedition will not be revealed, and the Syrian Observatory published hours ago," they reported.

said earlier this week that his country’s forces were going to launch a new military operation against "terrorist groups" east of the Euphrates River.

The alleged "terrorist groups" Erdogan mentioned were the YPG and SDF, who he claims are offshoots of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

Alec Baldwin arrested in New York after alleged fight
[The Hill] The 60-year-old actor ‐ who won an Emmy Award last year for his portrayal of President Trump on NBC’s "Saturday Night Live" ‐ was arrested Friday, a New York Police Department (NYPD) spokeswoman tells ITK.

An argument over a parking spot allegedly led to a man being punched after getting the space that was in dispute.

"Upon arrival, officers observed a 49-years-old male conscious and alert with injury to his left jaw," the NYPD said in a statement. The man is listed in stable condition, New York officials say.

Baldwin "was arrested and charges are pending" with an investigation ongoing.

In addition to playing him on TV, Baldwin is one of Hollywood’s most outspoken critics of Trump.

The president has blasted Baldwin’s "SNL" impression of him before, calling it "terrible."

Moments after news of Baldwin's arrest emerged, Trump told reporters on the South Lawn of the White House, "I wish him luck."

His son Donald Trump Jr., however, had harsher words for the former "30 Rock" star on Twitter, calling him a "piece of garbage."

Jihadist reinforcements pour into Idlib buffer zone as situation worsens in northwest Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] The situation in the northwestern region of Syria has fallen apart, as the warring parties trade attacks against one another in the Idlib buffer zone.

Speaking to al-Masdar News earlier today, a Syrian Arab Army (SAA) officer in Hama reported that the jihadist rebels have reinforced the Idlib buffer zone and strengthened their front-lines.

The Syrian Arab Army officer said that the jihadist rebels have moved their reinforcements to the Sukeek, al-Taman’ah, and Jurjanaz fronts in the southern countryside of Idlib.

This move by the jihadist rebels this afternoon comes just hours after the Syrian Arab Army launched a big attack across the Idlib buffer zone.

The Syrian opposition has accused the government forces of killing at least ten civilians and wounding another 17 people during this large-scale attack.

Canada adopts new immigration policy that spells trouble for Nigerian migrants
But Pretty Boy Trudeau promised asylum to everyone fleeing the U.S. after that horrid Donald Trump was elected. Could it be that he was merely posturing for effect?
[PULSE.NG] The Canadian government has adopted a new immigration policy that would adversely affect the chances of immigrants colonists who are seeking asylum in the country after illegally crossing through the United States border.

Nigerians notoriously make up a sizable majority of thousands of people who have walked into Canada from the United States to file refugee claims since January 2017.

The trend worried the Canadian government so much that two officials were sent to Lagos earlier this year to work directly with their counterparts in the U.S. visa office to collaborate on how to lower the number of migrants colonists who make asylum claims in Canada using a U.S. visa.

This was because many of the Nigerian asylum seekers in Canada were observed to have arrived bearing valid U.S. visas after having spent very little time in the States.

According to an exclusive story by Rooters, the Canadian government has adopted a new stringent policy to deal with asylum seekers who illegally enter the country across the U.S. border.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), the agency responsible for deportations, disclosed to Rooters that it now classifies border-crossers with criminals as a top deportation priority.

This means quicker processing and deportation of people who crossed the border, unlike in the past when claimants could live in Canada for years while their applications were processed.

Toronto lawyer Lorne Waldman believes that the new policy would easily deter asylum seekers with weak claims from crossing into the country.

"The best way of discouraging people from making frivolous claims is by having the claims processed quickly," Waldman said.

Egypt delegation visits Israel-Gaza border protests amid truce negotiations
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An Egyptian security delegation visited protests along the Gazoo-Israel border Friday, organizers said, as it sought to broker a long-term truce between Israel and the Paleostinian faction of Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,.

In the first such publicly announced visit by Egyptian officials, the delegation briefly attended the Paleostinian demonstrations in northern Gazoo, a statement from the head of the organizing committee said.

Eyewitnesses said a car carrying the delegation briefly drove to a protest site a few hundred meters from the border, before departing.

Friday’s protests come amid talk of a breakthrough in months of Egyptian-led negotiations.

A truce deal would see the often-violent protests end in exchange for an easing of Israel’s crippling blockade of the Gazoo Strip.

Two Abu Sayyaf captives rescued in Sulu
[SunStar] Five kidnap victims, including a child, were separately rescued while four Abu Sayyaf rebels were arrested by Philippine troops in Sulu province. Rescued were Jose Duterte and seven-year-old Radzmalyn Astah of Zamboanga del Norte and Tawi-Tawi, respectively, the Sulu Provincial Police Office said.

Police said troops from Joint Task Force Sulu and Naval Forces Western Mindanao rescued Duterte Thursday afternoon in Kandayok village, Panamao, Sulu. His rescue came after the soldiers managed to zero in on his location in Panamao town.

Five Abu Sayyaf militants seized Duterte and his wife, Jessica, on March 3, 2017 at their residence in the village of Sta. Maria, Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte. The rebels forced the couple to board on a waiting motorboat that sped off to the high seas. Jessica was rescued on October 31, 2017 in Basilan province.

The police said four militants were arrested when Astah was rescued by policemen on Thursday afternoon in the village of Walled City, Jolo, Sulu. They said the arrest was made after the payoff of ransom between the victim’s grandfather and Abu Sayyaf.

Astah was seized by rebels who pretended to buy gasoline from the business establishment of the Astah family in the evening of June 25 at Sitio Polao Pinang in Himba village, Tandubas, Tawi-Tawi. Astah’s mother was wounded when she was seized as her father, Rahim, put up a struggle that sparked a brief shootout.

Government, TLP reach agreement; state to take legal measures to place Asia Bibi's name on ECL
[DAWN] The government and Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistain (TLP) have reached terms to conclude the latter's nationwide protest, DawnNewsTV has reported, with the government making the concession to "initiate the legal process" to place Asia Bibi's name on the exit control list (ECL).
They freed her from prison, only to make the entire country an open-air prison for her and hers. What a lovely contry Pakistan is, to be sure.
The government has also said it will not oppose a review petition filed against the Supreme Court's judgement in the Asia Bibi blasphemy case.

The government has also promised to take appropriate legal action to redress any deaths that may have occurred during the protests against the Asia Bibi verdict and to release all people picked up in connection with the protests starting October 30.

The TLP has, in turn, apologised if it "hurt the sentiments or inconvenienced anyone without reason".

The agreement was signed by Dr Noorul Haq Qadri (religious affairs minister) and Raja Basharat (law minister Punjab) on behalf of the government, and by Pir Muhammad Afzal Qadri (big shot of the TLP) and Muhammad Waheed Noor (central chief nazim
...small time big shot, the chief elected official of a local government in Pakistan, such as a district, tehsil, union council, or village council...
of the TLP).

Following the agreement with the government, the TLP leaders addressed the participants of their protest in Lahore and asked them to end the protest and clear the roads, DawnNewsTV reported.

South Sudan frees rebel chief’s associates to back peace deal
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] South Sudan freed two associates of rebel leader Riek Machar from prison on Friday, advancing a peace agreement to end almost five years of civil war.

The two - retired South African colonel William Endley, an adviser to Machar, and James Gatdet, Machar’s front man, had been sentenced to death.

President Salva Kiir on Wednesday ordered their release on Wednesday to reinforce the peace accord signed in September.

"We are here to implement the orders of the president. Their release comes as part of the grinding of the peace processor. They are now free," Interior Minister Michael Chiangjiek said after signing the paperwork confirming their release.

Sudan erupted in conflict in 2013 after Kiir sacked Machar as vice president. Ethnically charged fighting soon spread, shutting down oil fields and forcing millions to flee.

At least 383,000 South Sudanese have died as a result of the war, through combat, starvation, disease or other factors, according to a recent study by London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine researchers.

Body of Missing Nigerian Army General Was 'Found in a Well'
[All Africa] The Nigerian Army on Wednesday explained how it found the body of a missing general, Idris Alkali, after weeks of intense investigations.

Mr Alkali, who recently retired as a major general, was declared missing several weeks ago while travelling from Abuja to Bauchi.

His body parts were found in an abandoned well in Guchwet village of Shen district, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Although no medical test had been done to confirm if the body parts found were actually that of Mr Alkali, the army said "its investigations confirmed it".

A brigadier general, Umar Ibrahim, the Garrison Commander, 3 division, spoke with journalists at the scene. He said some of the suspects who participated in the killing of the general brought the army to the well.

Last week, the army had announced it located a shallow grave where the late general was initially buried before the body was exhumed and taken someplace else.

On Wednesday, a military "body bag" containing the parts of the missing general was unzipped for news hounds to have a look. But no shots were allowed to be taken to preserve the victim's dignity.

At the scene, a water pump generator was used to drain the water from the well to allow access to the body parts.

The news hound observed that there was a distance of almost 10 kilometers from where his corpse was first buried to the "no man's land" where it was found Wednesday morning.

Mr Ibrahim narrated how the victim's body was found.

"You are all aware that Major General Idris Alkali was declared missing on September 3. The Nigerian Army gave us three tasks. One, to find General Alkali dead or alive; two, to find his car which is a Toyota Corolla; and three, if anything happened to him, to find who are responsible for it .

At least 7 killed, 12 injured in terrorist attack on bus carrying Copts in Upper Egypt's Minya
[Al Ahram] Egypt’s prosecutor-general Nabil Sadek has dispatched a team of prosecutors to the site of the terrorist attack on a bus which killed at least seven Copts and injured 12 near the Monastery of Saint Samuel the Confessor in Upper Egypt's Minya on Friday.

In an official statement, Sadek ordered members of northern Minya prosecution and members of Supreme State Security prosecution to the site to investigate the attack.

He also instructed the team to head to hospitals where the injured are receiving treatment to listen to their testimonies on the circumstances of the attack.

Security forces are currently searching for the unknown button men who carried out the terror attack on the bus, the sources said.

The sources added that the bus was using a back road to reach the monastery, adding that the main road to the monastery had been closed per security instructions due to the danger present in the western part of the governorate, where the monastery is located, and the lack of communication networks in the vicinity.

Britain
Amnesty activists rename London street for Khashoggi
Ugh.
[PULSE.NG] Amnesty International campaigners on Friday renamed the road outside the Saudi Arabian embassy in London as "Khashoggi Street" to mark the one-month anniversary of the dissident journalist's murder in Turkey.

Activists from the London-based NGO temporarily erected a mock street sign in front of the diplomatic compound, in the British capital's wealthy Mayfair district, in a symbolic gesture honouring Jamal Khashoggi.

They staged the Friday lunchtime stunt to coincide with the time that he was last seen alive entering the kingdom's consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Egyptian delegation tours Gaza clashes as promised calm largely holds
[IsraelTimes] Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", member says violence reined in to give Egyptian truce efforts a chance but warns of escalation if blockade not lifted

An Egyptian security delegation toured the Gazoo border protests Friday, and even though thousands of Paleostinians turned up, they were the quietest in several months, witnesses said.

The visit came amid efforts by Egypt to broker a ceasefire between Israel and the Gazoo Strip’s Hamas rulers.

The delegation briefly attended the demonstrations in northern Gazoo, a statement from the head of the organizing committee said. Eyewitnesses said a car carrying the delegation briefly drove to a protest site a few hundred meters from the border, before departing.

A senior Hamas member said the festivities were scaled down to give diplomatic efforts a chance amid talk of a breakthrough in months of Egyptian-led negotiations.

Khalil al-Hayya said the terror group is "testing" Egyptian-led efforts to broker a ceasefire to ease an 11-year-old blockade on Gazoo.

Fiercer festivities will resume if the blockade remains in place, al-Hayya warned.

Israel and Egypt largely sealed their borders with Gazoo after Hamas seized control in 2007 from the Paleostinian Authority, citing a need to prevent weapons smuggling.

Thousands again gathered at multiple sites near the frontier Friday but largely stayed away from the border fence, AFP correspondents said.

Security forces loyal to Hamas prevented protesters from approaching the border too closely, the correspondents said.

The Haaretz daily put turnout at some 7,000 demonstrators and quoted the Israel Defense Forces as saying about half of those present approached the border fence, while the rest remained at a distance and did not clash with soldiers.

The protest ended earlier than usual.

The Hamas-run health ministry in Gazoo said 32 Paleostinians were maimed during the protests, including seven by Israeli fire, which The News Agency that Dare Not be Named said was the lowest casualty figures reported since the start of the demonstrations.
