Australia passes a law to criminalise the criticism of Islam and anyone making fun of its "prophet"

#1  Note: this law is already in force in Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania and now the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) where the capital is and national Parliament.

This affects news reporting specifically any news on Islamist theocrat terrorism will be censored so as not to offend or vilify the "muslim community" by which they mean Islamist theocrats (the people who are killing both secular Muslims and non-Muslims alike)

This is the sharia demand of the 57 nations of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation that has been pushed at the UN for the last 20 years persistently

this is the sharia demand of the Charlie Hebdo murderers.

They have ruled now that criticism of Islam is "hate speech" which is illegal and anybody can be dragged through the courts

whether innocent or guilty the process is the punishment, resulting in financial ruin as people would have to stump up hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees and fight drawn out cases spanning 3 to 4 years.

#2  also law would ban vilification of Jews and Christians

so when the Koran says (thrice) that Jews are descendants of Apes and Pigs, how is that not vilification

and when the Koran says (of Christians) that their declaration of the messiah as the son of God is blasphemy, how is that not vilification
Posted by: lord garth || 08/11/2016 21:28 Comments || Top||

#3  It isn't vilification if the law is not enforced.

Now if I say mo wears underpants on his head and a goat for underpants, and I am arrested, what I expressed is vilification.

Watch: Attack on Thailand resort town Hua Hin, one dead

#1  Australia has just passed a law criminalising anyone who criticises Islam or makes fun of it

this is leading instantly to more censorship and dishonest reporting as this mainstream story on the Thai bombings immediately diverts blame to political unrest due to the military coup despite the motive not yet being established

http://www.smh.com.au/world/two-explosions-hit-thailand-tourist-resort-town-of-hua-hin-report-20160811-gqqp94.html

It may just as easily be an Islamist theocrat attack, it has happened before in Thailand.

But the important thing is to write in the story: the motive is as yet unknown

and either speculate on all possibilities or none.

but not to misdirect blame before it is even known

Wingtips on the glasses
Wingtips on the beach
In six years Bill passes
The future's out of reach.

Yet here I am still
Adrift in my chair
Now not as shrill
Thin snow mocking hair.

A dead man walking, folks
What they thought they couldn't say
About two-pack-a-day of smokes.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is the proud new owner of a summer home
The Burlington resident last week plopped down nearly $600,000 on a lakefront camp in North Hero.

Sanders’ new crib has four bedrooms and 500 feet of Lake Champlain beachfront on the east side of the island — facing Vermont, not New York. The Bern will keep his home in Burlington and use the new camp seasonally.

Last Tuesday, the day of the closing, a relaxed-looking Bernie Sanders posed for a photo at Hero’s Welcome General Store on Route 2. The store, a bit south of his new abode, serves a sandwich called “Feel the Bun” in the senator’s honor. The $6.99 deli delight consists of a “HUGE” homemade roll, sliced turkey, fresh apple chutney, hot pepper relish, lettuce, tomato and provolone cheese.

“It’s not fair that the Billionaire Class controls 99 percent of the bread,” the menu description reads. “Here’s a sandwich for the rest of us … to keep us nourished until everything cool is free!”

Sanders ordered the sandwich during his visit last week. Hero’s Welcome owner, Robert Camp, told Seven Days the store once offered a Sanders sandwich that poked fun at the senator, but later pulled it. The new version captures the essence of his rise to national prominence, Camp said.

The popular general store has a line of chairs out front — one side labeled “Republicans,” the other “Democrats.” In the middle, until recently, sat a lone “Sandernistas” chair, Camp said. That chair will be back — as long as the new neighbor doesn’t mind, Camp joked.

“He’s just been great,” said Camp. “This is going to be his home, so we won’t encourage autographs.”

The small Grand Isle County town has been abuzz for the last several days with the news. O’Meara Sanders said: “The entire family is very excited about it.”

he Sanders also own a row house on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., and a house in Burlington’s New North End.

Island locals are happy to see a man of Sanders’ stature choose the town, which had fewer than 1,000 residents as of the 2010 U.S. Census.

“We couldn’t ask for a nicer person to move in — that’s my opinion,” said Eileen Mitchell, a member of the town selectboard. The place isn’t just for senators, she added: “We welcome anyone else that moves into town.”

Camp, who’s run Hero’s Welcome for 23 years, predicted Sanders would fit right into island life.

“He’ll be a welcome neighbor, everybody up here loves him,” Camp said. “We’re all ornery and so is he!”

Monica Crowley: The great silent majority may surprise Trump, Clinton and us all
BLUF: [Wash Times] ....This is why, despite whatever the current polling shows, the biggest winners of the campaign so far are, first, Donald Trump, who has pulled off the most astonishing political achievement in recent American history and who, despite having never done this before, having a skeletal campaign and relatively little money, may very well pull the whole thing off; and, second, the great silent majority, which now believes it truly has a voice and the ability to effect the course of the country.

The Republican Party is now the party of action, symbolized by its frenetic, unconventional nominee, and the Democratic Party is the passive one, embodied by its tired champion of the rejected status quo. In a change election, the choice could not be clearer.

#1  I wish she were right.

Unfortunately, the leaders of five industries - IT, banking/finance, entertainment, education, and public employment (plus the Saudis laundering cash through various back channels) - will spend ANY amount of money and direct the MSM and public broadcasting to engage in ANY amount of yellow journalism to insure Hillary Clinton is elected president.

In a media age this will almost surely prove insurmountable.

If Lloyd Blankfein or Erich Schmidt had to go personally to every undecided voter in the three or four dozen counties in the three or four states that will decide this election and hand them a check for $100,000 in exchange for their votes, that's what they would do. They have the money to do that. Trump does not and never will. And that would be the case no matter who Mrs. Clinton ran against.

The economy is down, and will be for much longer than the 1930's depression. Even if the vast majority of citizens don't understand the mechanics and demographics of this, they are gripped with fear over losing their current level of affluence, even if they have some vague notion that it is mathematically unsustainable. Fear that the chess pieces being moved to fix this (something HRC has repeatedly said she will fight against, which resonates with that dynamic) amounts to fear of losing one's own rice bowl for millions of people. The 47% will never vote for someone who ever uttered the words "you're fired". All HRC needs to win is another 4% via SJW's and voter fraud in a few dozen counties in swing states and she walks away with this election.

#4  All Trump needs to do is hammer all the crookedness of Hillary and shut his mouth on anything that isn't related to attacking Hillary directly.

Clue for the clueless: The silent majority does not exist. Its Pat Buchanan's speech gimmick he wrote for Nixon. There is not a majority for much anything these days, only against things.

Memory Hole: Champ Threatens GOP: "They Bring a Knife… We Bring a Gun"
[Gateway Pundit] Barack Obama has a long list of violent threats against his opponents. Of course, the liberal media has ignored this.

** Obama: "They Bring a Knife...We Bring a Gun"
** Obama to His Followers: "Get in Their Faces!"
** Obama on ACORN Mobs: "I don’t want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! I’m angry!"
** Obama to His Mercenary Army: "Hit Back Twice As Hard"
** Obama on the private sector: "We talk to these folks... so I know whose ass to kick."
** Obama to voters: Republican victory would mean "hand to hand combat"
** Obama to lib supporters: "It’s time to Fight for it."
** Obama to Latino supporters: "Punish your enemies."
** Obama to supporters: "I’m itching for a fight."
Obama to UAW mob: "Fight for me!"

Obama likes to condemn others for "violent speech" but has a history of violent threats against hi opponents.

On Tuesday Donald Trump made obscure comments about Second Amendment voters rejecting Hillary Clinton. This is no secret for anyone who has followed politics in the last 20 years. The media strongly condemned Donald Trump for his violent speech. But when Obama said much worse, the liberal media totally ignored it.

#3  Memory hole indeed. Exactly like 1984. The MSM's latest full court press on Trump's Second Amendment remarks certainly has the look and feel of Orwell's Ministry of Truth. I would feel great relief if someone could prove to me that it is mere paranoia.

But there is CBSABCNBCCNN all on the same message. I didn't watch FOX but I suspect they were in on it too. If all of these organizations were truly independent they would all be doing their own thing and at least a few of them might choose to lead with something else at least once in a while. But they are all doing the same thing. Last night even Entertainment Tonight and Inside Edition lead with Trump and the Second Amendment. They all included Hillary's conclusion that it "proves his temperament makes him unfit" to be president. That's the message, Trump is some kind of a mad man who wants to assassinate his political opponents and get us into a nuclear holocaust.

Could we all calm down a bit?

Entertainment Tonight and Inside Edition, what does that have to do with Hollywood?

All of them on the same page and reading from it totally in sync. And when they slip in the ratings you might think they'd try something different to attract the viewers they are losing but they don't. I'll give TMZ credit. They showed Jon Voight who said it's all being blown out of proportion.

I wish Trump wouldn't give them so much ammunition but it isn't really all that much, is it? The problem is that they all get together to make such a big deal of it and they hammer the public with it constantly. They saturate the airwaves, the newspapers, the cable and the internet with it. They're like a pathetic pack of hounds going after an old, cold trail while the fox goes off in an entirely different direction and gets away from them. And for anybody who notices they have lost all of their credibility. You can't believe a single word from any of them.

What force is it that can compel all of these supposedly independent outlets to sing the same song in the same key at the same time? The Democrat Party? The Republican Party? The Beltway Party? The Inner Party? Soros? Obama? Jarrett? The military/industrial complex? The Trilateral Commission? The Freemasons?

I don't know but it is truly chilling.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
DOJ Refused FBI's Request to Investigate Clinton Foundation
[PJ Media] Hidden deep within CNN's story about the latest batch of Clinton emails involving the Clinton Foundation -- covered by PJ Media here -- is a previously unreported nugget of information:

The Clinton Foundation was not part of the recent investigation into her private server; it was separate. The FBI went to Justice Department earlier this year asking for it to open a case into the foundation, but the public integrity unit declined. The Justice Department had looked into whether it should open a case on the foundation a year prior and found it didn't have sufficient evidence to do so.

During his June 7 appearance before the House Oversight and Reform Committee, FBI Director James Comey refused to comment on whether the FBI probe into the Clinton Foundation was still open:

Asked by Chairman Jason Chaffetz if he had "looked at the Clinton Foundation," Comey answered, "I'm not going to comment on the existence or non-existence of any other investigations."

Asked if the Clinton Foundation was tied into the email investigation, Comey simply said, "I’m not going to answer that."

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), the former chairman of the Oversight Committee, said back in May that he believed the FBI wouldn't finish the public corruption track of the investigation until after the election:

[C]oordinating her activities and President Clinton's activities and Chelsea's activities in the Clinton Foundation, they're probably going to have to leave that until after the election.

The emails, released by Judicial Watch on Tuesday, expose how the Clinton Foundation improperly influenced the State Department during Clinton's tenure as secretary of State. The Clinton campaign attempted to downplay the revelations in an email to CNN:

"Neither of these emails involve the secretary or relate to the Foundation's work," said an emailed statement from Clinton campaign spokesman Josh Schwerin. "They are communications between her aides and the President's personal aide, and indeed the recommendation was for one of the Secretary's former staffers who was not employed by the Foundation."

Schwerin may be referring to the email exchange involving Clinton Foundation official Doug Band and his attempt to get a job for an unnamed associate:

In the email Band tells Hillary Clinton’s former aides at the State Department Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin that it is "important to take care of [Redacted]. Band is reassured by Abedin that "Personnel has been sending him options." Band was co-founder of Teneo Strategy with Bill Clinton and a top official of the Clinton Foundation, including its Clinton Global Initiative.

Department of Justice officials filed a motion in federal court in June seeking a 27-month delay in producing correspondence between Clinton’s four top aides and officials with the Clinton Foundation and Teneo Holdings. Via the Daily Caller:

U.S. District Court Judge Rudolph Contreras, a President Obama-appointed judge, had previously ordered the State Department to release the requested documents by July 21. But Department of Justice lawyers informed Contreras Wednesday night that "the [State] department discovered errors in the manner in which the searches had been conducted in order to capture documents potentially responsive to plaintiff’s request." The motion was filed by Justice Department attorney Joseph Borson on behalf of the State Department.

Judge Contreras ruled to "grant in part and deny in part" the defendant’s motion for an extension of time to complete the document production.

#6  Went to see Dinesh D'Souza's "Hillary's America" yesterday. He did a good job of drawing a parallel between criminal gangs and the Clintons. He basically said they and the Democratic Party is out to steal America via gangster methods and a huge "con" job.. He also traced the history of the Democratic Party and its racist KKK roots as well as its Tammany Hall Democratic machine politics rampany in Democratically controlled big cities across the country. Worth a see and certainly describes the rumination of large cities that are Democratically controlled. It is no wonder Obama had him put in jail for the things the Donks do every day. Will the DOJ investigate the Clinton Foundation. I am doubtful so long as the Democrats are in charge and the Pubs have rolled over and shown docility.

#7  The depth, breadth and brazenness of the corruption and illegality of this administration is breathtaking. But more tragic is the level to which the rank and file civil service tolerates it and increasingly participates in it. The attitude of the bureaucracy at federal and even state level has become that of masters, not servants, the their actual view of the public has become one of aristocratic dominance, not public servant.

-War on Police-
Street Gangs Targeting Chicago Police for Assassination
[PJ Media] The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that three Chicago street gangs are conspiring to assassinate city police officers.

Leaders from three prominent gangs met last week to discuss the plan, according to an alert issued by the CPD.

The meeting took place Thursday between higher-ups from the Vice Lords, Black Disciples and Four Corner Hustlers, according to an alert issued to department members the day after the meeting.

The Four Corner Hustlers "provided guns" and have "a sniper in place" though authorities do not know where, according to the alert. The Four Corner Hustlers also are supplying the other two gangs with automatic weapons, which all three factions also have agreed to use against police, the alert states.

The three gangs are located primarily in the Austin and Harrison districts, which cover much of the West Side.

In an email Monday afternoon, department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said: "To safeguard the integrity of operations, the department does not comment on any security measures."

According to police sources, department members have also been advised to "limit interactions and visibility."

Dean Angelo, president of Lodge 7 of the Fraternal Order of Police, said "rhetoric" from the attorney representing Paul O’Neal’s family and statements from Independent Police Review Authority head Sharon Fairley were both to blame for threats against police.

"We had inflammatory and false rhetoric coming from [Michael Oppenheimer] and statements that weren’t true," Angelo said. "You also have a lead investigator in police-involved deaths talking about how shocking and disturbing this is."

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Mischief attempted, miscreants arrested, and malicious material removed
Palestinian man arrested for planning shooting attack

[IsraelTimes] Israeli security forces arrested a member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in the northern West Bank on Wednesday for allegedly planning a shooting attack on a military post, the Shin Bet security service said.

As part of a joint operation by the Israel Defense Forces, Shin Bet and Israel Police, Ahmed Abu Rub, 27, was picked up from his home in the Qabatiya refugee camp outside Jenin in the early hours of Wednesday morning. According to the Shin Bet, Abu Rub had planned to open fire on an IDF checkpoint near the Mevo Dotan settlement in the northern West Bank, and maintained close ties with PIJ officials in the Gaza Strip. However, the security service would not comment on when exactly Abu Rub intended to carry out the attack, saying the PIJ operative had “just entered his interrogation so there is no more information that can be divulged.”

In addition to Abu Rub, 12 other Palestinians were arrested between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning in a series of raids across the West Bank, and a weapons cache was uncovered in a small village northwest of Jerusalem, the army said. Four of the people were arrested for allegedly throwing rocks and taking part in violent demonstrations, one was picked up for reputedly belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization and the rest were brought in for undisclosed reasons, the IDF said.

In one of the raids, Israeli forces clashed with residents of the al-Amari refugee camp outside Ramallah as they arrested a suspect, who was identified as Khalid Matar by Palestinian media.

“Dozens of rioters rolled burning tires and hurled rocks at security forces. In response to the immediate threat, forces responded with riot dispersal means and fired 0.22-caliber rounds toward the main instigators,” an army spokesperson said. The 0.22-caliber rounds, also known as Ruger rounds, are used by Israeli security forces against rioters as the smaller bullets are considered less lethal than the 5.56mm ammunition used in M-16 and Tavor assault rifles.

Four demonstrators were injured in the clash, according to Palestinian media. The IDF could not confirm the reports.

Soldiers from the Golan Artillery Battery, working alongside the Israel Police, found a large stash of guns and materiel in Khirbat Abu Lahm, located just north of Kibbutz Maale Hahamisha, near Jerusalem. During their search, the troops found a variety of weaponry, including M-16 assault rifles, “Carlo”-style submachine guns, shotguns, hunting rifles, air rifles and revolvers, along with magazines, bullets for the guns, military uniforms and stun grenades, the army said.

Members of the Nachal Brigade’s Granite Battalion also found gun parts, magazines and ammunition in Khirbet al-Aqrabaniya, outside of Nablus, the IDF said.

Gaza man infiltrates Israel, evades capture for nearly a day

[IsraelTimes] A Palestinian man who sneaked into Israel from the Gaza Strip evaded capture for nearly 24 hours before he was picked up by security forces on Wednesday morning, the army said.

On Tuesday afternoon, soldiers monitoring the closed-circuit cameras along the southern border with Gaza noticed the man cross into Israeli territory in the Eshkol region, an army spokesperson said.

“Forces located the unarmed suspect earlier today,” the spokesperson said on Wednesday afternoon.

Though troops were called to the area soon after the man crossed into Israel, they were unable to locate him. It was not immediately clear how he eluded them, the spokesperson said. The man was found by Border Police officers over six miles (10 kilometers) inside Israeli territory, hiding near some greenhouses outside the town of Netivot, Channel 2 news reported.

Israel intercepts Gaza-bound shipment of commando knives

[IsraelTimes] Israeli security personnel at the Kerem Shalom border crossing into the southern Gaza Strip earlier this week foiled an attempt to smuggle dozens of commando knives into the Palestinian enclave, the Defense Ministry said Wednesday. During a search of a vehicle, Defense Ministry guards and Shin Bet operatives uncovered two boxes containing professional-grade 30-centimeter (12-inch) commando knives hidden in a shipment of tools.

Officials also recently intercepted a shipment destined for the Palestinian electric company in Gaza containing concealed graphite strips, the Government Press Office said in a statement, noting the raw material is often used to make rocket fuel.

The knives and graphite were confiscated, and Israeli security services have launched investigations into both smuggling attempts.

8 Palestinians injured in tunnel collapse in Gaza Strip

[Ynet] Eight Palestinians were lightly-to-moderately injured in a tunnel collapse that occurred overnight Tuesday in the Gaza Strip. The collapse occurred east of the Saja'iyya neighborhood in Gaza City.

Seattle judge upholds ATF's decision banning 7.62x39 ammo designed for AK-47s
[Seattle Times] A federal judge in Seattle has upheld a decision by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to ban ammunition originally designed for AK-47 assault rifles.

The decision Wednesday by U.S. District Judge John C. Coughenour came in a lawsuit brought by Redmond-based P.W. Arms Inc., which obtained permits to import more than 100 million rounds of the Russian- and Eastern European-made ammunition known as 7N6. When the first shipments arrived in early 2014, the ATF deemed them "armor-piercing" and barred their importation for civilian resale.

The company said the agency misinterpreted the definition of armor-piercing bullets under federal law. But the judge disagreed, saying they contain a steel core and can be fired from a handgun.

Coughenour noted that P.W. Arms never disputed the bullets can pierce body armor, and he called the company's arguments disingenuous.

#13  Rifle round in a pistol? No thanks. ATF is reaching on this one if it weren't for a libtard big government judge.

Under ATF rules, a short barrel rifle which does not have a butt stock is a pistol. Someone in the ATF discovered the existence of the Krinkov 5.45x39mm pistol, and since ATF rules state that rounds that can be fired in a pistol which are armor piercing (such as lead core ammunition that the 7N6 is), the ammunition can't be sold for civilian use. Ergo, 7N6 ammo was permanently banned for importation.

Canadian authorities foil ISIS suicide bombing, suspect killed
[BNOnews] Aaron Driver, 23, was killed when police raided his home in the Canadian community of Strathroy, about 84 miles (135 km) northeast of Detroit in the United States or about 122 miles (197 km) southwest of Toronto. It was not immediately known how he was killed.

"Earlier today, the RCMP received credible information of a potential terrorist threat," the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a press statement. "A suspect was identified and the proper course of action has been taken to ensure that there is no danger to the public's safety."

The RCMP declined to provide further information, but CTV News cited an internal government memo as saying that Driver was allegedly planning to carry out a suicide bombing in a public area of a major Canadian city, possibly during rush hour on Wednesday to cause mass casualties.

It was not immediately known which city may have been the target, but Canadian officials emphasized that there was no longer a threat, suggesting that the suspect may have been a so-called lone wolf. Further details are expected to be released later on Wednesday.

According to a relative who spoke to CBC, police informed the family that he was shot dead after detonating an explosive device, injuring himself and one other person, whose condition was unclear.

They told the family they had to shoot him because he had a second device which he was planning to detonate, CBC said.

The Grand Turk
Obama tells Turkey’s Erdogan to BACK OFF over coup accusations
I am impressed.
[EXPRESS.CO.UK] The Turkish president slammed the West saying leaders had "not done enough" to offer support to Ankara following the coup which left 294 people dead. He said: "We are struggling against a coup attempt, against terrorists. The Western world must understand what we are dealing with."
How is that Obama threat working out so far ?
Turkish media has also accused Obama’s administration of being behind the coup attempt, even claiming a Washington think tank played a part.

But State Department spokeswoman Elizabeth Trudeau described Erdogan's comments as "inflammatory rhetoric" that is "absolutely not helpful".

She told Politico: "We’re very focused on lowering the temperature.

"We understand that this was a serious situation, but at the same time the rhetoric doesn’t help advance the situation."

Erdogan has also expressed his fury that US Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
had not visited the country following the failed coup on July 15. Speaking after hearing Kerry would visit the country this month, the Turkish president said: "It is late, too late.

"This makes us sad. What more do Americans need? Their strategic ally is facing a coup and it takes them 45 days before sending anyone over? This is shocking."

The warning comes as the Turkish president continues to fall out with EU leaders over Ankara's possible reintroduction of the death penalty. Erdogan said: "If the nation makes such a decision, I believe political parties will abide by this decision."

This has led to EU bosses claiming The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
will not be given access to the bloc if it introduces capital punishment.

Turkish authorities have ousted thousands of military personnel including nearly half its generals and admirals since a rogue military faction tried to oust President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
from power.

Rear Admiral Mustafa Zeki Ugurlu is the subject of a detention order in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey and has been expelled from the armed forces, the Anadolu news agency reported.

He has requested asylum from U.S. authorities, it added, without giving its source. He had been stationed at NATO's Allied Command Transformation in Norfolk, Virginia, the news agency said.

Ugurlu had not been heard from since July 22 when he left the base, Anadolu said. Izmir's chief prosecutor Okan Bato told Anadolu he was not able to get a statement from Ugurlu after seeking the prosecution of two admirals from the chief of staff.

NATO said on Wednesday that Turkey's membership of the military alliance was "not in question", despite the tumult in the country.
Not at the moment, at least. The future remains opaque.
Anadolu did not say whether the United States had accepted Ugurlu's claim, believed to be the first of its kind since July 15, which comes at a time of strained relations between Washington and Ankara.

Afghanistan
Journalists Under Increasing Threat In Taliban's Heartland
Afghanistan's National Journalists Union (ANJU) Wednesday pushed for more steps to be taken by the Afghan government to ensure the security of local media outlets and journalists in Helmand province, a Taliban heartland in southern Afghanistan.

Helmand has been the scene of fierce battles in the past few weeks between security forces and the Taliban.

According to the union, journalists and media in the province have come under serious threat amid a fresh wave of violence and battles between security forces and Taliban.

Local and international journalists are reporting on the situation in Helmand under serious threats and their problems need to be addressed by the government, the journalist union said in a statement on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a number of journalists reporting from the volatile region have reaffirmed their commitment to continue their journalistic mission, asking for robust action by the government to ensure their safety.

"We urge national and international organizations defending freedom of press to help us in providing security for journalists and media groups working in Helmand," the statement read.

It is said that the Taliban insurgents, by focusing their insurgency in Helmand, want to keep their influence in their traditional stronghold in the south in a bid to secure their finances through drug smuggling.

Bangladesh
JMB, ABT in terror merger
[Dhaka Tribune] Police’s elite force Rapid Action Battalion yesterday claimed to have received information of a possible merger between two banned bully boy groups ‐ Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh and Ansarullah Bangla Team. The new wing is identified as Daulatul Islam.

RAB, however, could not confirm the number of holy warriors working under the new platform and refused to disclose the identity of their chief.

The law enforcers got the information questioning six Daulatul Islam members from different parts of Dhaka from Tuesday night to early yesterday.

After the Gulshan attack, Sherlocks told the media that they had recovered a handkerchief from the scene of the crime that reads Daulatul Islam of Bangladesh in Bangla.

Police have claimed that the Gulshan and Sholakia attackers, and the nine holy warriors killed in a raid at Kallyanpur were from the same group ‐ New JMB ‐ which is a faction of the JMB and linked to Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
In April, DB police said that they had got proof that a new organization Daulatul Islam was providing financial support to the members of Ansarullah and Hizbut Tahrir
...an al-Qaeda recruiting organization banned in most countries. It calls for the reestablishment of the Caliphate...
According to RAB, the six holy warriors detained are the members of a suicide squad and one of them, Mustafizur Rahman alias Shifat, belongs to Ansarullah Bangla Team. He used to claim terror attacks in Bangladesh on behalf of Islamic State alongside updating IS’ official website Amaq news agency.

A RAB blurb yesterday said that two teams of Ansarullah and JMB had decided to work together under the banner of Daulatul Islam. A website named At-Tamkin was working as their media to claim responsibility for the attacks. The website was accessible as of last night.

223% increase of attacks against Muslims in France
Submitted by SAT2014
[SouthAfricaToday] The number of attacks against Muslims has dramatically increased in France following a series of terrorist attacks in 2015, the US Department of Sate said in its annual International Religious Freedom Report released on Wednesday.

“Subsequent to the January and November terrorist attacks, there were reports of violent attacks against Muslims around the country,” the report stated. “The Interior Ministry reported a sharp increase in anti-Muslim incidents, up by 223 percent over the previous year.”

Relative of Charlie Hebdo Killer Agrees to Extradition

[AnNahar] The brother-in-law of one of the Islamic extremists behind the January 2015 attack on French magazine Charlie Hebdo on Wednesday agreed to his extradition from Bulgaria but denied being a "terrorist."

Hamyd was arrested last month in Turkey while allegedly trying to enter Syria to join jihadists. He was handed over to Bulgarian authorities on July 28 and France issued a European arrest warrant. He was tracked down to have taken a train through Hungary, Serbia and Bulgaria -- a route that French prosecutors said "corresponds to the one traditionally taken by jihadist fighters wanting to join the Islamic State in Syria or Iraq."

A search of his computer also found "numerous and recent visits to sites with jihadist content."

Two planes land safely in Brussels after bomb threats

[IsraelTimes] Two international flights landed safely at Brussels airport late Wednesday following bomb alerts that turned out to be false, the Belgian federal prosecutor’s office said. The federal prosecutor’s spokesman Eric Van der Sijpt said he could not describe the exact nature of the bomb threats but added they concerned two flights by Scandinavian airlines SAS from Oslo and Stockholm.

“There is still an ongoing investigation concerning a possible threat,” Van der Sijpt told AFP. “But at least the threats on those two planes are negative.”

Danish police arrest asylum seeker who threatened to blow himself up

[AlAhram] Danish police arrested a 22-year-old Iranian asylum seeker on Wednesday after he threatened to blow himself up on the roof of the building where he was staying. The police said in a statement the man had wanted to commit suicide over "a broken heart", signalling it was over a private romantic affair, not intended as a political gesture.
Just the kind of person one wants as a new citizen of one's hitherto civilized country...
A police negotiator persuaded the man to give up his plan, the statement said. Police declined to comment further on the incident and would not say whether the man had carried explosives.

Germany turning away and deporting more migrants

[DeutscheWelle] Germany turned away 50 percent more people at its border in the first half of 2016 than in the whole of last year, according to government figures released on Tuesday. Border control officers stopped some 13,324 people from entering the country up until the end of June, compared to 8,913 in 2015, the new Interior Ministry figures show.

Germany also looks set to increase its number of deportations - with 13,743 in the first six months of 2016, compared to 20,888 in the whole of 2015. The numbers suggest that the introduction of border controls in September 2015 and the increased pressure on local authorities to deport more migrants from Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere has started to show results.

The figures also show that some 3,322 Iraqis and 2,305 Afghans left the country voluntarily with government support.

Erdogan fans boycott Gulen-friendly shops in Germany

[DeutscheWelle] Supporters of Recep Tayyip Erdogan are boycotting German businesses linked to the Turkish president's main rival, Die Zeit reported on Wednesday. They included hairstylists, construction companies, restaurants, produce vendors and even medical doctors.

Business owners in Berlin, the populous state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the southwestern Baden-Württemberg told Die Zeit that they had been yelled at on the streets and called traitors to the homeland and terrorists. The newspaper reported that some business owners fear physical violence.

The choice, sadly, lies between an unlearned interloper with common sense and an Establishment whose policy response is predictable as the emergence of a gumball from a supermarket machine after a quarter is cranked in. They are mediocre ideologues incapable of learning from past failures, clinging to their careers because they are unsuited for honest work. Trump may not know much but he is capable of learning. That can’t be said for his detractors.

#3  You don't want to give power to totalitarian movements in order to discredit them.

You don't want to give power to totalitarians ever!

Totalitarians aren't in the business of letting themselves 'be discredited.'

They're in the business of subjugating and enslaving those who are under their power.

They're in the business of making their subjects suffer.

They're in the business of making their subjects thank them profusely for making them suffer.

This should count as no more than a trivial empiric observation for anyone with at least rudimentary knowledge of the history of the last 100+ years.

The Western political elites, left, right and center seem to have gone suicidally
mad.

Second man arrested over French priest’s murder
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Police in southwest La Belle France enjugged
Please don't kill me!
a 21-year-old man in connection with the bad boy killing of a priest in a Normandy church last month, judicial sources said Wednesday.

The man arrested Monday in the Toulouse
...lies on the banks of the River Garonne, half-way between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The Toulouse metropolitan area is the fourth-largest in La Belle France...
area is the second to be held in connection with the murder of 85-year-old Jacques Hamel, whose throat was slit in front of worshippers while he was celebrating mass in the town of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray on July 26.

A police source said he had been in contact with the holy man’s killers, Abdel Malik Petitjean and Adel Kermiche, who had pledged allegiance to ISIS. The pair, both aged 19, were rubbed out by police after a hostage drama in which a worshipper was seriously maimed.

The grisly attack - the first committed in the name of ISIS against a church in the West - came less than two weeks after a Tunisian ploughed a 19-tonne truck into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day in the Riviera city of Nice, killing 85 people and wounding more than 300.

A cousin of Petitjean named as Farid K. was remanded in jug on July 31 on charges of "criminal association in connection with terrorism". The public prosecutor said the 30-year-old "was fully aware of his cousin’s imminent violent action, even if he did not know the precise place or day."

Hamel’s killing, which follows a string of attacks in La Belle France over the past 18 months, has raised questions about security failures. Kermiche, who lived near the church, wore an electronic tag and was allowed to leave home on weekday mornings under his house arrest terms. He met Petitjean through the encrypted messaging app Telegram.

Investigators have questioned several people over the killers’ links with groups recruiting for jihad in Syria.

A 20-year-old man has been charged with trying to travel to Syria with Petitjean in June.

Five soldiers, two commies killed in Mindanao clashes
[Gulf Today] Five Philippine soldiers and two Maoist militants were killed as heavy fighting broke out anew following the cancellation by President Rodrigo Duterte of the unilateral ceasefire he had declared with the rebels.

Military spokesman Restituto Padilla said the four soldiers were killed in separate attacks by the NPA in the town of Monkayo, Compostela Valley on Friday. He added that a member of the army's elite special forces unit was also killed when the militants attacked a military camp in a remote village in Valencia City, Bukidnon.

In addition, 12 soldiers and two NPA rebels were injured and three of their comrades were captured in the clashes that began on Thursday afternoon in Monkayo, Compostela Valley. Padilla said the fighting resumed the following day when the military pursued the militants.

Arson, grenade attacks hit southern Thailand
[Bangkok Post] A factory was torched, a military base hit with M79 grenades, and public facilities set ablaze in Yala province early on Monday.

In Bannang Sata district, a fire began in a warehouse at about 1 a.m. and destroyed it and the wood stored inside, along with a 10-wheel truck and stacks of wood surrounding it. Kittisak Mahithimontri, the factory owner, said he believed the arsonists had scaled over the wall and set the building ablaze. It was not known if the fire was related to the insurgency.

Around the same time in Krong Pinang district, militants fired three M79 grenades at a military base. Two of the grenades exploded, wounding three soldiers.

Shortly afterward, a mobile telephone signal tower opposite a gas station was set on fire. A nearby power pole was also set ablaze. In Raman district, four closed-circuit surveillance cameras were set on fire.

The disturbances come ahead of a security meeting on the security situation in the southernmost provinces called on Monday by Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon.

Benghazi Saraya attacks LNA at Naga oilfield
[Libya Herald] Gunmen from the Benghazi Defence Brigades (Saraya Bengahzi/BDB) attacked a unit from the Libyan National Army this morning at the Naga oilfield, southeast of Zillah. After some six hours of festivities, the BDB force, reportedly led by Benghazi Lion of Islam Ziyad Belam, was forced to withdraw.

It is said to have lost six members in the attack while the LNA which was guarding the field, lost two.

In June Belam’s men were part of the BDB force that tried, and likewise failed, to take over Ajdabiya.

Operated by Harouge Oil, a joint venture between the NOC and Petro-Canada, the Naga field has not been active for some while. It was one of the fields taken over by the LNA in May.

The oilfield hit the headlines earlier this year when it was one of several in the Sirte basin attacked by ISIS.

Mike Vanderboegh called to be with the Lord
Mike Vanderboegh, husband, father of three, and founder of the III% movement passed peacefully in his beloved Alabama home today.

In life, he fought tirelessly to restore the liberties that we had taken for granted. Because of his leadership and the movement that he created, we take them for granted no more. He was able to awaken minds to the possibility that a determined minority of free people could accomplish anything; so long as they did it together. They did not need a leader. They needed a cause and a banner from which to advance the cause of freedom. The III percent is that cause.

Mike continued to give everything after so much had been taken away by the illness. Through his struggle he became a symbol of what can be accomplished if we only have the indomitable will to make it happen. Through his words he was able to breathe life into the sails of a resurging Patriot movement. His work may be done, but for those that remain, it is just beginning,

A Patriot died today. But his work will live on in the everyday push for freedom. His was a voice that was made silent, but his work will continue to echo so long as free men and women have the means to resist The future doesn’t belong to the craven; it belongs to the brave.

Afghanistan
Beans and Bullets: Millions of rounds fired in Helmand
Officials said Wednesday that British troops fired 46 million rounds of ammunition at the Taliban during eight years of combat in Afghanistan.

The bullets and artillery shells used cost the taxpayer a total of nearly £200 million ($300 million USD).

Sources on condition of anonymity have told TOLOnews that the Afghan security forces have meanwhile fired 9.6 million rounds of ammunition at Taliban militants in three months in Helmand.
"I shot 9.6 million bullets in the air
they came to ground I know not where... but at least seven hit their targets."
In a leaked document it states that up to three tons of weapons and equipment was also sold off by security forces.

"Now the Taliban have the same equipment which is available to security forces, Taliban get a lot by using this equipment and weapons. Because weapons available to government forces are not used properly, sometimes this equipment is exploited for corruption," said MP Abdul Hai Akhondzada.

Meanwhile, UN officials have pushed for an investigation into the issue to detect corrupt elements and convict them.

"I am not an expert in the war, if people are corrupt, they need to be investigated after detection by the bodies under the constitution and they need to be prosecuted," said Michael Hartmann, Chief of the Rule-of-Law Unit of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) .

"If you spread nine million bullets on the ground, it covers the whole of Helmand, government forces' reporting is nothing except an exaggeration, this indicates that they have reported on their embezzlement," said military analyst Atiqullah Amarkhail.

Ministry of interior and ministry of defense have confirmed that a high volume of bullets were fired in the Helmand war, but vows to probe the reports.

"When there is movement of the enemy, firing occurs, because when you have weapons in hand, you must use it for the sake of your country and we are doing this," said Mohammad Radmanish, deputy spokesman to MoD.

"We are prepared to take actions against the misuse of police assets in Helmand," said Sediq Sediqqi, spokesman to ministry of interior, referring the reports.

The new development takes place just weeks after the residents in Helmand criticized the lack of good governance in parts of the province, declaring the issue the main reason behind the rising threats.

SJWs attack developers of new video game
The upcoming video game Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has seen no end to controversy lately. With release just a few weeks away, the perpetually offended raised issues over the game’s use of the term “mechanical apartheid,” and the horns of outrage have been sounded in light of the game’s supposed appropriation of Black Lives Matter within its themes.

More recently, self-described “pop culture critic” and Feminist Frequency producer Jonathan McIntosh took issue with the amount of freedom the upcoming game offers its players. It should be noted that player choice has long been a staple of the RPG genre, which allows players to decide the outcome of the story through their actions and deeds within the game. This, apparently, is a problematic thing for anyone who insists video games should be pedagogical and instruct players with a certain set of views.

“Devs say it’s up to players to decide if internment camps are good or bad?! No. The question itself is political!” wrote McIntosh. “Game developers like to pretend their narratives, scenarios and mechanics are politically neutral but that’s never really the case.”

Kunduz intelligence chief wounded in Taliban ambush
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The provincial intelligence chief of the northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan sustained injuries in an ambush by the Talibs earlier today.

Security officials in Kunduz have confirmed that Gen. Mohammad Jasim Anwari was ambushed as he was on his way to airport earlier today.

The officials further added that Gen. Anwari sustained minor injuries in the attack but the Taliban group claimed that Gen. Anwari was critically maimed.

The group in an online statement said Gen. Anwari was shifted to Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
after he sustained critical wounds in the attack but the officials reject the Taliban claim as baseless.

Kunduz is among the relatively volatile provinces in northern Afghanistan which has been witnessing growing instability during the recent months.

The Taliban group captured the strategic Kunduz city briefly last year but the Afghan forces recaptured it by launching a major operation.

The group launched several attacks by announcing its spring offensive earlier this year but the attacks were successfully repulsed by the Afghan cops.

Numerous senior Taliban leaders have been killed or captured in this province since the Afghan forces launched their annual operation to counter the annual spring offensive of the Taliban group.

Syrian resistance thwarts regime attacks in Aleppo
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Syrian resistance thwarted Syrian regime and foreign militias advance attempts on several axes and inflicted loss in their ranks the past two days.

Zaman al-Wasl news hound in Aleppo disclaimed news circulated by pro-regime media outlets saying the regime closed the opening in al-Ramouseh pointing out food items have been delivered to eastern neighborhoods in Aleppo via Ramouseh on Wednesday.

Zaman al-Wasl obtained a photo taken on Wednesday by Rooters photographer Abdul Rahman Ismail showing civilians gathering in Aleppo eastern neighborhoods to take vegetables distribute equally on civilians for free.

In the same context, leader source in Syrian resistance confirmed continuing preparation for the fourth phase of "the great battle of Aleppo" aiming to control the rest of western Aleppo neighborhood and liberate the whole city.

Asked by Zaman al-Wasl news hound of the reason of halt of battles in Aleppo and whether there are any international pressure on Syrian resistance, he answered, "the jihadist factions in Aleppo are working now to secure the road opened from Ramouseh side and hold its captured locations in the three phases of the great battle of Aleppo. Thanks to God, we foiled 5 regime attacks near al-Mahrouqat hill and al-Jibs and surrounding of cement factory."

He added, "about the rumors of political parties and states interfering to stop the battle, it is completely false. No one interfered for that and originally the battle did not start with an international or political resolution. All of the factions are being prepared for the fourth phase which will be announced soon."

It should be noted the warplanes raided al-Ramouseh area on Tuesday without any news of victims.

Turkish principals removed from PakTurk schools
Score another one for Sultan Recep I.
[DAWN] LAHORE: The management of the PakTurk Schools has removed the Turkish principals of 28 schools and colleges of the chain besides dissolving the board of directors (BoD) having representation of Turkish nationals.

The drastic change is being seen to thwart the likely handing over of the control of the school system to any organization by the government.

A source in the federal government told Dawn that the Turkish government had suggested handing over of the chain to an international NGO having links with the Erdogan administration.

The Turkish nationals, earlier serving on administrative posts, will now work as teachers, according to a bigwig of the schools system and familiar with the developments.

PakTurk schools are no more registered under the international NGO (PakTurk International Education Foundation). They will work under a locally-registered PakTurk Education Foundation.

The official said a new six-member BoD with complete local representation had been formed to run the affairs of the schools.

Al-Barghathi moves Brigade 204 Tank Brigade under UN-proposed government’s command
[Libya Observer] The defense minister-designate of the UN-proposed government, Mihdi Al-Barghathi, ordered to move the Brigade 204 Tanks from the command of Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
’s Dignity Operation to the command of the Defense Ministry of the UN-proposed government.

The Brigade 204 Tanks has been therefore tasked to secure the office of defense ministry in Benghazi and be ready to follow its orders, Al-Barghathi’s order, which was issued Tuesday, reads.

It is noteworthy that Brigade 204 Tanks was fighting alongside Haftar’s militias in Benghazi under the command of Al-Barghathi.

This decision follows Hafatr’s order to rename the Brigade 204 Tanks to Brigade 298 Tanks and to move it to the command of Benghazi Military Zone with a new commander, Abdel Kareem Al-Barghathi, instead of Mihdi Al-Barghathi.

France withdraws its Haftar-supporting troops from Benghazi
[Libya Observer] Military and security sources revealed Wednesday that the special French troops that are supporting Khalifa Haftar
... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
’s militias withdrew from Benghazi three days ago, saying it is possible that they come back again.

The Anadolu News Agency reported the same sources as saying that they noticed the absence of the reconnaissance aircraft, which are probably for the French troops, over the last few days.

The reasons behind this move are yet unclear, however, it comes following the statement of the member of the UN-proposed government, Mohammed Al-Emmari, who said La Belle France vowed to stop its military operations in Benghazi after it was informed that the government is upset about them, besides the summoning of the French Ambassador to Libya.

Last month, La Belle France announced that three French soldiers were killed while on intelligence mission when their helicopter crashed in eastern Benghazi, which was an official admission that French troops are operating on the ground in eastern Libya.

Western allies call for Zueitina terminal to be handed over to NOC
[Libya Herald] In a fresh joint statement expressing their concern about rising tensions in the eastern oil terminal of Zueitina, the governments of La Belle France, Italia, Spain, the UK and the US have said that all the facilities there must be transferred "unconditionally and without preconditions or delay" back to the what they said were the "legitimate national authorities recognized as such by UN Security Council Resolution 2259".

This is deemed to the National Oil Corporation (NOC) headquartered in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
and headed by Mustafa Sanalla, although the Presidency Council has not formally named him as the organizations’s chairman.

There were fears that there would be fighting over the terminal this week after a 150-man-strong Libyan national Army (LNA) unit moved to just 10 kilometres away from the terminal. It is currently guarded by Petroleum Facilities Guards loyal to Ibrahim Jadhran, an inveterate foe of LNA leader General Khalifa Hafter.

Calling on all parties to refrain from hostilities and avoid any action that could damage or disrupt Libya’s energy infrastructure, the five governments noted that restoring oil exports was vital to providing the income needed to deliver essential services such as electricity, healthcare and infrastructure.

"It is in the interests of all Libyans that they fully support the efforts led by the GNA to provide these key services to the Libyan people," a statement read.

The western allies also insisted that the Government of National Accord work with the NOC to restore oil production.

India-Pakistan
After Quetta
[DAWN] Terrorism cannot be fought and won while being isolated from one’s neighbours, whether inside the country or outside, must be the basic starting point for Pakistain’s national security policy.

The zero-tolerance approach is often rejected as unfeasible or impractical, but unless it forms the philosophical underpinnings of overall security policy, the country cannot realistically look forward to a peaceful, stable or prosperous future.

Whether internally or externally directed, terrorism inside Pakistain will only be defeated by cooperation among institutions and between states.

Finally, the need for clarity and coherence in overall policy should not obscure local failings. Quetta, a relatively small picturesque provincial capital, ought to be better protected than it has been.

After each attack, whether a assassination'>assassination or an indiscriminate bombing, the same vows are made by different officials, but accountability never seems to be a priority. Surely, Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
and its capital, Quetta, deserve both answers and also visible accountability.

Iraq
Coalition warned ISIS before bombing its trucks
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] US-led coalition planes warned drivers of fuel trucks used by the ISIS group in Syria they were about to be bombed, prompting several vehicles to flee, officials told AFP Wednesday.

Multiple warplanes destroyed 83 oil tankers Sunday near Albu Kamal, along Syria’s border with Iraq, as part of an ongoing mission to wipe out the oil-smuggling infrastructure that helps fund ISIS.

At the start of the attack, pilots "fired multiple warning shots to encourage truck drivers to leave the area," the US military’s anti-ISIS mission, Operation Inherent Resolve, said in a statement.

"Multiple oil tanker trucks departed the area after the warning shots, and we did not pursue them," officials added.

Remaining oil trucks were "stationary at the time of the strike. Based on our assessment, there were no drivers remaining with the vehicles at the time of the strike."

The B.O. regime came under criticism from some Republican politicians last year after the Pentagon said it had dropped leaflets warning truck drivers of impending strikes.

The rationale is that ISIS presses drivers into service and they are not necessarily ISIS supporters.

Pilots did not drop warning leaflets in Sunday’s attack, which was conducted under Operation Tidal Wave II, named after a World War II mission to bomb oil refineries used by the Nazis.

The case highlights the delicate balancing act surrounding strikes against IS targets.

Civilian casualties fuel outrage and are used as a rallying cry by jihadists, and the military will often call off a strike if the risk of civilian deaths is deemed too high.

But critics have accused the B.O. regime of making rules of engagement too restrictive and shackling the military.

In just two strikes last year, coalition planes destroyed about 400 tankers that were lined up in the desert waiting to take on illicit oil.

In those cases, pilots dropped leaflets warning drivers.

#1  This is idiotic. The drivers know what they are doing; they are the usual Arab scum that now drive consequence-free. If the coalition force hit a tanker truck every time they saw one there would be damned little movement of oil money to ISIS pockets.

Iraq’s health minister resigns after hospital blaze
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraq’s health minister resigned Wednesday evening after a fire tore through the maternity ward of one of Baghdad’s largest hospitals in the same day, killing at least 11 premature babies.

Before resignation of minister Adeela Hamoud, she let go of the head of Al-Yarmouk hospital, and ordered her ministry to open an immediate probe over the unfortunate incident.

Earlier, health ministry front man Ahmed al-Rudeini told AFP the blaze at the Yarmuk hospital in west Baghdad was started by an electrical fault just after midnight (2100 GMT Tuesday).

"Twenty-nine women patients who were in the same ward were evacuated to other hospitals in the capital," he said.

Rudeini added in a statement that seven children were saved from the fire and taken to other maternity wards in Baghdad.

Security services sealed off the area as forensic teams searched the gutted ward and angry relatives massed outside, waiting for information from the authorities.

An official at Iraq’s interior ministry confirmed the corpse count from the fire, adding that three other babies were being treated for smoke inhalation.

Many of Baghdad’s public hospitals are poorly maintained and offer sub-standard healthcare, forcing a number of Iraqis to seek private treatment or travel abroad.

Terror Networks
45,000 ISIS fighters killed in past two years: US general
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] About 45,000 bandidos holy warriors have been killed in Iraq and Syria since the US-led operation to defeat the ISIS group began two years ago, a top general said Wednesday.

"We estimate that over the past 11 months, we’ve killed about 25,000 enemy fighters. When you add that to the 20,000 estimated killed (previously), that’s 45,000 enemy (fighters) taken off the battlefield," said Lieutenant General Sean MacFarland, who commands the US-led coalition campaign against ISIS.

MacFarland said estimates for the overall remaining strength of ISIS vary from about 15,000 to 30,000 but said the jihadists are having increasing difficulties replenishing their ranks.

"The number of fighters on the front line has diminished. They’ve diminished not only in quantity but also in quality -- we don’t see them operating nearly as effectively as they have in the past, which makes them even easier targets for us," MacFarland told Pentagon news hounds from Baghdad via a video call.

"As a result their attrition has accelerated here of late," he added.

Officials also estimate ISIS has lost 25,000 square kilometers (9,650 square miles) of the territory it once held in Iraq and Syria, or about 50 percent and 20 percent respectively in each country.

The US-led military effort against ISIS started exactly two years ago, aimed at halting the bandidos holy warriors as they swept across Iraq and Syria.

MacFarland was upbeat about the eventual recapture of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
in Iraq and Raqa in Syria, saying it would herald the "beginning of the end" of the campaign.

South Sudan says no to proposal for UN-commanded troops in Juba
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] South Sudan said on Wednesday it opposed a proposal to station extra foreign troops in the country under UN command, something the United States, Western nations and regional countries want in order to prevent a slide back into civil war.

The government said last week it would allow a deployment of African troops to Juba, after fighting between President Salva Kiir’s forces and fighters loyal to his rival, former vice president Riek Machar, killed dozens of people and drove tens of thousands from the capital last month.

But on Wednesday, Information Minister Michael Makuei said the force should be independent rather than under UN command.

He said US moves to impel the government to accept such a force smacked of imperialism.

"We do not want the protection force to be under UNMISS," Makuei said, accusing the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
Mission in the Republic of South Sudan, which currently has 12,000 troops, of failing to protect civilians.

A US proposal to the UN Security Council for an additional 4,000-strong force to ensure peace in Juba, under UNMISS command, was aimed at "turning South Sudan into a protectorate," he said.

The proposal would impose an arms embargo if Juba failed to accept.

The regional African grouping IGAD also said the additional troops should be put under UN command, in a statement on Sunday.

Machar withdrew his troops to outside of Juba after a ceasefire ended street battles in the capital in July and called for the foreign troop deployment to act as a buffer between the rival forces.

Carl Icahn: "Extremely Important For Country To See Trump Win,"
[Real Clear Politics] In a wide-ranging interview on CNBC Wednesday afternoon investor Carl Icahn weighed in on the economy, Donald Trump's presidential campaign and his speech on the economy, the future of the dollar, why the American worker should vote for Trump and much more. Icahn said Trump's speech on the economy was "right on" and he should win "hands down." He also said Trump will appeal to the Archie Bunker's of the world.

"I think it's extremely important for this country to see Trump win," he said. "I have nothing against Hillary Clinton. You know, I'm not going to get into personal thing about her. I said that several times about my PAC. I'm not getting into personalities."

"I look at things simply and I made a lot of money just looking at simple truths," Icahn said Tuesday. "This is a simple truth. We have a massive problem and Donald is addressing it. The Democrats are not. Donald gave a speech that was to my mind right on about it. And if he sticks with that economic theme, he should definitely win hands down because I don't know why you wouldn't vote for him."

Icahn poked fun at the use of the term "service economy" by pundits explaining job numbers and predicted the downfall of the dollar.

"I still question the pundits that said, 'Oh, it's great, we're a service economy,'" Icahn said. "What does it do? What does that mean? We sit around and just text each other. What do we produce?"

"And eventually who's going to take our paper?" he asked. "We're living off imports that everybody loves the dollar, but sooner or later that's just going to blow up in one week. I mean, it's going to happen. It's happened in history. I don't think it's debatable. I don't even think the economic gurus of the Democratic party are going to debate the fact that we must be able to compete."

This guy gets it.

Unfortunately, the fix for our problem requires the disruption of at least 50-75% of public sector rice bowls, plus a much higher level of volatility in financial markets. Those two sectors alone will fight and spend to get HRC elected with every ounce of energy and every penny they have.

Some of the higher-ups in those groups know damn well that we are headed towards collapse because half or more of the people want more pay, health care, and government (especially regulations) than they are producing the wealth and value to justify.

But they are hoping they can delay the inevitable, if only for a few years, or months or even weeks.

#4  I know it sounds trite, dividing people into two groups, but my take is that the world divides into the makers, the takers, and the fakers.

The makers are those who create useful stuff, or who help the makers make useful stuff. The takers are those who don't make stuff, but just take it. The Fakers are those who fake being useful without actually making anything, but act as middlemen to help the takers take from the makers without any consequences. (The takers and fakers wouldn't be able to take if the makers hadn't made the guns used to do the taking.)

Granted, there are takers that are that way by necessity, such as the young and their mothers who consume resources and stuff in the process of becoming makers, and the old and elderly who can no longer make stuff. The education crisis is about the young and their educators who took and took and took, and wound up not being able to transition to making. Those who formerly made, and who now take (in their old age) from a store that they themselves "made" by storing for the future, are NOT the causes of the pension crisis: It IS a crisis for the retired fakers however, and who propose, as a solution to their problem, that the fakers take from the makers to give to the fakers.

Ichan and Trump want to help the makers. Sounds good to me.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Holding Manbij key to Raqqa operation
[ARA News] MANBIJ – Coalition Commander Army Lt. Gen. Sean McFarland said on Wednesday that soon ISIS will be finished in the Syrian border city of Manbij, and that this will set the stage for taking Raqqa [the de facto capital of the Islamic State], reported the official website of the US Department of Defence.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) made progress by pushing out ISIS from Shaddadi, Hasakah, and Tishreen. “And soon [the SDF] will finish the fight in the important city of Manbij,” he said.

Retaking Manbij will set the stage for the eventual attack to seize Raqqa, according to McFarland, who stressed that retaking ISIS-controlled Raqqa will “mark the beginning of the end for [ISIS] in Syria.”

“During these operations, [US-led] coalition aircraft have conducted about 50,000 sorties against [ISIS] in the past year,” he said. “During those sorties we’ve dropped more than 30,000 munitions on the enemy with approximately two-thirds of those in Iraq and about one-third in Syria. Our artillery has conducted more than 700 fire missions.”

The American commander estimated that in the past 11 months, 25,000 ISIS fighters have been killed, added to the 20,000 estimated killed prior to his arrival.

Nevertheless, McFarland said that a territorial defeat of ISIS will not be the end of the group.

“Military success in Iraq and Syria will not necessarily mean the end of [ISIS],” he said. “We can expect the enemy to adapt, to morph into a true insurgent force and terrorist organization capable of horrific attacks like the one here on July 3 in Baghdad and those others we’ve seen around the world.”

Speaking to ARA News, Ziyad Sinjar (31), a former prisoner of ISIS, said that the radical group “will not be finished soon”.

“They might be finished in Raqqa and in Syria, but their ideology not, and they will go to other countries,” he said.

He spent more than six months in ISIS prisons in al-Bab, Manbij, and Aleppo.

“They will travel to other countries in the Middle East and Africa. They have their ideology spread among children and they can carry weapons,” he added.

Chicago Tribune: Emails raise questions about Clinton Foundation donors' access at State
[Chicago Tribune] Newly released State Department emails shed additional light on the relationships Hillary Clinton and her top aides maintained with her family's foundation during the years she served as secretary of state.

The emails, obtained by the conservative group Judicial Watch as part of a public-records lawsuit, included one in which a longtime aide to Bill Clinton sought a State Department meeting on behalf of a major foundation donor.

The aide, Doug Band, who played a role in expanding the foundation's reach, wrote to Hillary Clinton's State Department staff requesting a meeting for a wealthy Nigerian businessman of Lebanese descent who has given the Clinton Foundation $1 million to $5 million in donations, according to disclosure reports.

"We need Gilbert Chagoury to speak to the substance person re Lebanon," Band wrote in the email addressed to Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills, two of Clinton's closest aides at State. "As you know he's a key guy there and to us and is loved in Lebanon. Very imp."

Abedin responded with the name of the recent U.S. ambassador to Lebanon, Jeffrey Feltman, who was serving as acting assistant secretary of state for near eastern affairs. She added: "I'll talk to Jeff."

As it turned out, Feltman said he never connected with the billionaire. "Gilbert Chagoury never contacted me," he said in response to a question Wednesday from The Washington Post. "I have never met nor spoken to him. No one ever told me he was seeking me out."

The exchange sparked an immediate response from Clinton's critics, who say that the Chagoury email and with other State Department correspondence released over the past year as part of various inquiries and lawsuits suggest a pattern in which donors to Clinton causes seem to have received special access to Clinton's State Department.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump pointed Wednesday to the document release, saying the emails reveal Clinton's "pay to play" approach to governance.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said the documents explain why Clinton and her aides have been reluctant to release official communications.

"They show the Clinton Foundation, Clinton donors and operatives worked with Hillary Clinton in potential violation of the law," he said.

Officials from the Clinton campaign and the foundation portray the email communications as innocuous, in some cases even helpful to U.S. foreign policy goals.

India-Pakistan
Intelligence agencies working day and night to defeat enemy designs: PM Nawaz
[DAWN] Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
on Wednesday said Pakistain's intelligence agencies are working day and night to defeat designs of the country's enemies.

Addressing the National Assembly two days after the carnage at Quetta Civil Hospital, the premier said Pakistain's military and politicianship are on the same page to eradicate the menace of terrorism.

Nawaz said the mindset behind the Quetta attack was the same one that had targeted Paks in numerous terrorist attacks in the past.

"This incident [Quetta attack] was properly planned," said the PM, adding that "such a mindset does not want peace in the country, especially in Balochistan."
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
"We will put to rest all these challenges."

The premier went on to say that Operation Zarb-e-Azb
..the Pak offensive against Qaeda in Pakistain and the Pak Taliban in North Wazoo. The name refers to the sword of the Prophet (PTUI!)...
is a unanimous national agenda that will be completed at all costs.

Terror and confusion
[DAWN] ONE of the most insidious effects of terror attacks is the confusion that they sow, and the way in which they magnify the divisions within society. In part, this is the strategy of the terrorist, especially when the target is civilians.

But what happened in Quetta was calculated. Somebody hatched a plan to first assassinate the president of the Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
Bar Association, then have a jacket wallah wait at the hospital where the body would inevitably be taken, anticipating thon the lam numbers of lawyers would congregate there.

So the first question naturally arises: why target lawyers? Was it just to produce a large body count, or was there a specific reason why lawyers were selected for this gruesome deed?

Even before the bodies had been fully counted up and identified, an official narrative of sorts reared its head. This is a conspiracy against CPEC, hatched by RAW
... India's Research and Analysis Wing, Pakistain's equivalent of the Boogie Man...
. Following this claim, a tale follows: the idea is to destabilise the country and derail the budding partnership with China that Pakistain is so carefully nurturing.

But the official narrative, stated thus, makes little sense. First of all, how do they know that this act was perpetrated by RAW with the intention to derail CPEC? Considering the narrative emerged faster than the dust settled, was it driven by any empirical findings in the aftermath or was it simple surmising?

Second, how does targeting lawyers destabilise the country and contribute to the derailment of CPEC? Given how calculated the strike was, whoever carried it out would naturally also have calculated the impact it was going to have. And it’s hard to see how the impact could in any way contribute to the derailment of CPEC.

Another narrative emerged in parliament, and was echoed in a gathering of the legal fraternity held in Quetta on Wednesday. How could this happen given how saturated Quetta is with military presence, with intelligence operatives on every street, as parliamentarian Mehmood Khan Achakzai pointed out? The attack, regardless of who the perpetrators were, represented a failure of security and intelligence, which is largely in the hands of the military in Quetta.

-Land of the Free
The awesome, life-shattering power of guns
Alternate title: The Awesome, truth-shattering power of a fascist agenda. This presentation was published in a state which only two years ago passed one of the most draconian universal background check laws in the nation. It just goes to show that the appetite of fascists such as the writer for your personal property will never go unwhetted until the gun owner is dead and his property belongs to the state.
This is part of an effort by the anti-gun lobby to "de-legitimize" guns. Having finally figured out that they're not going to win any legislative battles in the current political landscape, they're working 1) to restrict gun makers in various ways, 2) to find just enough judges, including five on the Supreme Court, to "reinterpret" the 2A in just the right way (after which it can never be interpreted differently again, don't you know), and 3) to change ordinary society so that gun owners are seen as deviant or illegitimate citizens. I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that if you looked carefully at the author, you'd find someone who is involved in this process.

GUNS are awesome machines.

Built with great precision, advanced over generations, they are powerful tools for their purpose. Practicing with them brings the pleasure and satisfaction that comes with honing difficult skills. The enforcers of our laws use them to stop the criminals who threaten our lives and property. Our military uses them to kill and contain the violent enemies of our nation. As with any fine machine, looking at a gun, possessing one or working with one is exciting and empowering.
If you think owning a gun is anything other than a responsibility, you probably should not ever own a gun. Possessing a gun rather is humbling.
In the hands of civilians, they are not protection from crime. Unless you wear a uniform with a badge or a service patch on it, the gun you carry is more likely to kill you or someone you know or love than it is to kill anyone who threatens you or your loved ones. The “good guy with a gun” who will protect us, rather than threaten us, is the man or woman who has been screened, trained, authorized and empowered by us to do the job. Anyone else, no matter how well-intentioned, is an amateur at best and a hazard to the rest of us at worst. The past 40 years in the United States has been a massive experiment in the theory that a highly armed citizenry will make us safer, and the experiment has been an abysmal failure.
Cops can't be everywhere; neither can the military. And the dirty secret to private gun ownership: it is not up to an individual gun owner to stop crime. It is up to the individual committing the crime to stop the crime. If I witness a crime while carrying, it is up to me, in a practical and tactical sense to decide whether I will even attempt to stop the act using a firearm. My first inclination is to not draw at all, unless I'm being fired on. YMMV.
In the hands of civilians, guns are not a bulwark against tyranny. If you believe that guns are a remedy against an oppressive government, then you are on the side of the black man who perceived “his” people being abused by government agents and chose to strike back with a gun. You are on the side of the troubled white man who, 52 years earlier, wanted to bring down the elected government he viewed as corrupt. Dallas is what Second Amendment remedies look like in practice: dead police officers, a dead president.
If this lawyer had read any of the articles about the Constitution published at the time, he would know that citizens are the bulwark against tyranny. The recognition of the right to keep and bear arms, and the restrictions against government efforts to stop citizen disarmament was put there for that reason. That the Dallas shooter sought to even things up at the expense of the five kops he shot in no way invalidates the existence of guns as an element in dealing effectively with a runaway government and an elected tyranny.
Many of you, my friends and family, own firearms. I do not want you to surrender your guns. I do not want the government to confiscate them. But I do want you to help address the problem of so many deaths caused by these awesome machines. An informed, engaged electorate is what protects us from tyranny. Stop pretending this problem does not exist or that the only solution is more guns. Do not hide behind “originalist” arguments about the Constitution’s Second Amendment.
Whenever a serf, such as the individual posing as a lawyer writing, says he doesn't want the government to confiscate firearms, that simply means he wants the government to confiscate firearms so badly he is willing to blatantly lie about his intentions.
Late Saturday night, I was awake when I heard multiple sirens in the distance. I felt that frisson of fear that every parent of a young person feels when you let him or her out into the world. Has there been an accident? Was somebody drinking, being a reckless kid? But I immediately relaxed, knowing that on this night both of my boys were already safe at home. Those sirens represented someone else’s pain.

In the morning, I learned three young people were dead, a fourth wounded and a dozen scarred by terror. My boys knew most of them, had gone to school with all of them and had played ball with some of them.

Another young person had possessed an awesome machine, a machine that no doubt had given him a sense of satisfaction, safety and power. A neighbor’s security camera recorded the mere seconds it took for that machine in the hands of that young man to break so many hearts forever.
The firearm had not given him anything. It is an inanimate object. The shooter gave himself that sense of "satisfaction, safety and power," an indication alone which should have been the first hint he should not have had the gun to begin with. But the government can't be there to instill in the mind of the shooter his responsibility with regard to owning a gun. Only the shooter can, and he failed in that most basic responsibility.
Three lives are gone, three families shattered and dozens of lives changed forever. These are awesome machines.
Guns are tools to be used for a specific purpose. They are not awesome in any sense. Just tools. In the hand of an individual being fired on, they are indispensable tools. In the hands of an individual who chose to exert his ill onto his target, they are the second best argument for individual gun ownership..

#2  In Iraq, I thought everyone owned an AK-47. I suppose that's why everybody is mass-shooting everyone else all the time. But some folks prefer bombs. More splatter, less risk, unless you take the short-cut to pair-a-dice with a boom belt.

Could it be there is less shooting over there because there are more guns? Shooting rampages couldn't get very far because everybody would be shooting back at the mass-murderer.

But bombs - set your IED or pressure-cooker bomb, walk away to a safe distance and watch the mayhem. Trigger the bigger bomb after the first responders show up.

McVeigh and Nichols (OKC, 1995) got 846 causalities and $650 million in damages from one truck bomb. Now that's life-shattering. Can't get that kind of mayhem from a AR-15 and 237-round clip.

Afghanistan
Clashes underway in Dahana-e-Ghori district of Baghlan
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Clashes are underway between the Afghan forces and the Taliban forces of Evil in Dahana-e-Ghori district of northern Baghlan province of Afghanistan.

According to the local security officials, the festivities started earlier today after scores of Taliban forces of Evil attacked the district.

The officials further added that requests have been sent for the deployment of reinforcements in a bid to push the Taliban forces of Evil and repel their attack.

The provincial council officials have warned that the district will fall to Taliban control if additional forces are not deployed into the area immediately.

The latest attack by the Taliban forces of Evil in Dahana-e-Ghori district comes almost three after the area was cleared from the Lions of Islam presence.

The Taliban forces of Evil suffered heavy casualties during the festivities in Dahana-e-Ghori and Dand-e-Shahabuddin areas of northern Baghlan province earlier this year.

The operations in Baghlan were launched amid concerns that the Lions of Islam of the Taliban group are preparing the spring offensive by creating sanctuaries in this province.

The Taliban forces of Evil launched a major attack to take control of the strategic Kunduz city earlier in the month of April but the offensive was repulsed by the Afghan cops.

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
the security situation of a number of northern provinces including the strategic Kunduz province still remain unstable.

Russia announces daily ceasefires in Aleppo to let in aid
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Russia said on Wednesday there would be daily three-hour ceasefires in Syria's Aleppo starting Thursday to allow humanitarian convoys to enter the city safely, a proposal which the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
said it would consider.

Aleppo is split into rebel- and government-held . The rebel-held east, where about 250,000 people are thought to be living, came under siege in early July after government forces cut the Castello Road, the main supply route into the district.

On Friday rebels staged a major assault southwest of Aleppo to break through this siege. Fighters did manage to pierce the ring of government-controlled territory, but a safe corridor for civilians and aid has not yet been established as fierce fighting continues.

Speaking at a televised briefing, Lieutenant-General Sergei Rudskoi, a senior Russian Defense Ministry official, said the pause in fighting would run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. local time.

Rudskoi said the question of joint control over delivery of humanitarian aid via Castello Road was being discussed with the United Nations and the United States.

He said "all military action, air and artillery strikes" would be halted for the three-hour periods.

"This is to ensure that all interested organizations have the opportunity to deliver their humanitarian assistance to the residents of Aleppo," Rudskoi said.

He added that Russia, an ally of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

A front man for a major rebel group fighting inside Aleppo told Rooters it was skeptical of the Russian plan.

"Is this publicity that Russia is a neutral party? What is three hours? In those three hours they will just be bombing (rebel-held) Idlib!" said Abd al-Salaam Abd al-Razzaq, military front man for the Nour al Din al-Zinki Death Eater group.

took to the floor to enlighten the house on some key issues discussed in high-level huddles after the Quetta attack.

Nisar said while most political parties were against the introduction of harsh laws, stricter laws were needed to reign in those "who do not ascribe to any religion or law".

Without naming anyone, the interior minister also voiced his displeasure over Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai's address in the house a day ago, in which he demanded that the prime minister sack officers from the security and intelligence agencies if they fail to trace out elements involved in the deadly Quetta attack.

The PkMAP chief had termed the Quetta attack an intelligence failure and had demanded to fix the responsibility of the blast in a debate held on the subject in the National Assembly.

Nisar termed the use of "such words and remarks for intelligence agencies and armed forces as condescending".

"Is it not my duty as a Pak to stand with our armed forces?" questioned Nisar, adding that giving such a statements at a critical juncture was "unacceptable".

Iran transfers all wounded fighters from Aleppo University Hospital: source
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards Corps moved their maimed fighters from Aleppo University Hospital to unknown place in the divided city of Aleppo, well-informed sources said Wednesday.

Hezbollah maimed were among the transferees, the source revealed.

Iran has own medical department in the government-held hospital in western Aleppo city.

The move came days after Syrian resistance broke a month-long siege on Saturday where almost 275,00 people had been trapped in the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo.

Two leaked records by Hezbollah myrmidon on the battlefields of Aleppo city claimed that the Lebanese militia fighters were the only ones who kept fighting the Syrian resistance forces in the siege-break battles.

Syrian regime forces have a low morale and most of them fled their bastions with backed Iranian fighters, according to the audio tape.

The criticism for Syrian army droop and decay was not the first. Two years ago Bashir al-Assad's first adviser, Bouthaina Shaaban, slammed Hezbollah for claims that its forces are the real force fighting Syrian resistance.

Man arrested for killing wife
[DAWN] Golra police on Tuesday tossed in the calaboose
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
an individual suspected of killing his teenage wife last month in a rural part of the city, police said.

They added that the victim was murdered for ’honour’, and the man murdered her over suspicions.

On July 12, deceased 17 year old Nazia Parveen was brought to a hospital, where a post-mortem examination suggested she had been strangled. Her father told the police he had left for his native town, Sargodha, and left his two daughters behind at a house in Mohalla Prianwala, Golra. He said he later received a call telling him his daughter had been killing, and returned to Islamabad. The police added that a murder case had been registered against unidentified individuals.

They said the police investigation rounded up two dozen suspects, and the phone records of the victim and others, including her husband, were also obtained. They said her husband was picked up and interrogated, during which he confessed to the killing. The suspect told the police he had married the victim four months ago but they had not started living together.

The police said he added that during this period he grew suspicious of her and, when she ignored his warnings, he killed her.

Newly-wed couple shot dead by bride's uncle in Rawalakot

[DAWN] MUZAFFARABAD: A newly-wed couple was rubbed out by the bride’s uncle in Rawalakot district of Azad Kashmire on Wednesday, it has been learnt.

The incident happened in Mohra Kotera area of Rawalakot district where 19-year-old Aliza and her husband Owais were allegedly killed by suspect Niaz Khan, said City cop shoppe SHO Aijaz.

The couple, who reportedly got married four days ago, was living in a rented house where Niaz attacked and opened fire on the couple, police said.

The owner of the house was the first to arrive at the scene who subsequently informed police about the incident, but by then Niaz had fled the scene of the crime.

Police, however, has tossed in the calaboose

four suspected accomplices of Niaz while raids are being carried out to arrest the prime suspect.

The couple had reportedly married against the will of their family on which the bride’s uncle was very upset, the police official said.

The families of victims staged protest on Rawalakot Muzaffarabad Road and blocked the main highway by placing the bodies on the road. They vowed to continue the protest till the arrest of culprits, however, the district officials persuaded them to call off their protest by giving them assurances that the suspects will soon be arrested -- to which they agreed.

Afghanistan
Ex-Pakistani MP: Security establishment’s support for Taliban an open secret
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A prominent Pak politician and former politician Afrasiab Khattak has said the Pak security establishment’s support to the Afghan Taliban is an open secret as he joined several other politicians and critics in slamming the slamming the security establishments of the country for their ’good’ and ’bad’ bandidos Death Eaters approach.

The remarks by Khattak came after a deadly attack on a hospital in Quetta city, the picturesque provincial capital of Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
province of Pakistain.

Critics accusde Pakistain’s powerful security institutions of aiding and protecting the "good" snuffies -- those who launch attacks in India and Afghanistan -- while going after the "bad" bandidos Death Eaters whose attacks have killed more than 60,000 civilians and soldiers since 2004.

"It is also public knowledge that non-state actors find no obstacles to their agenda," Khattak was quoted as saying in a report by Gandhara/RFERL.

He said "Proscribed organizations not only indulge in public activities but also give themselves the right to determine Pakistain’s regional policy," he said.

Khattak, a longtime critic of Islamabad’s support for hard-line Islamist groups, said he sees no benefit to the current approach. "Our country is at daggers drawn with three out of four neighbors and faces growing international isolation," he concluded.

Another politician, Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani, said "Does the security establishment exist to protect Pakistain, or does Pakistain exist to [perpetuate] the security establishment?"

"We deserve to know the truth. Powers within this country are backing the terrorists. These people attacking us are from among us," he told the National Assembly or lower house of Pak Parliament, where he represents Balochistan.

Sherani rejected claims by a senior Balochistan official that India’s main foreign intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), orchestrated the attack. Barely an hour after the attack on August 8, Balochistan’s most senior elected official, Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri, blamed RAW for the attack. Pak officials frequently blame its regional archrival for the country’s domestic security woes.

"There is no RAW in Balochistan," Sherani told politicians. "They are the same people we nurtured," he said, referring to Pakistain’s decade-old support for Afghan Death Eaters and Islamist factions often blamed for launching attacks in India.

"Blaming RAW for everything will not work," politician Mahmood Khan Achakzai told the Pak National Assembly in an impassioned speech on August 9. "Our [intelligence] agencies can find a needle in a haystack, and now they should also do this [unmasking the perpetrators of the Quetta attack]."

Achakzai’s Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party is part of the provincial administration in Balochistan, yet he has consistently criticized the alleged covert support Pak intelligence services extend to factions of the Afghan Taliban and Salafist factions such as Lashkar-e Taiba, which New Delhi and Western government blame for attacks in India.

US says 300 ISIS militants killed in Afghan operation
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Afghan forces, backed by the United States, have killed an estimated 300 ISIS fighters in an operation mounted two weeks ago, the top US and NATO

commander in Afghanistan said on Wednesday, calling it a severe blow to the group.

General John Nicholson said the offensive in the eastern province of Nangarhar

was part of US operations to degrade the capabilities of ISIS wherever it raised its head, whether in Iraq and Syria or in Afghanistan.

, in which at least 80 people were killed.

Nicholson, in New Delhi for talks with the Indian military which has provided training and some arms to Afghanistan, said Afghan forces supported by the United States had just carried out a counter-terrorism operation against ISIS.

"They killed a number of top leaders of the organization and up to 300 of their fighters," he told news hounds.

"Obviously it’s difficult to get an exact count, but what this amounts to is about 25 percent of the organization at least, and so this represents a severe setback for them."

ISIS first appeared in Afghanistan at the beginning of 2015, and had about 3,000 fighters at the height of the movement, many of them former members of myrmidon groups such as the Pak Taliban and the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan.

Threat emanates from India-managed Afghan soil, generals told
[DAWN] Top military commanders believe that the terrorist threat is transforming because of a growing nexus between hostile actors in the neighbourhood and ’controllers’ within the country.

At a corps commanders’ conference held at the General Headquarters on Tuesday, the generals reviewed the threat perception and discussed measures for countering the imminent security challenges.

"Participants of the conference were given detailed briefings on ongoing military operations and overall external and internal security situation in the country with particular reference to counterterrorism domain," the ISPR said in a statement.

The meeting, a monthly feature, gained added significance because of the terrorist attack in Quetta a day earlier, which left at least 70 people dead, and an upcoming high-level security meeting that is expected to take important decisions with regards to future direction of counterterrorism operations.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
8 Iranian Soldiers die in Aleppo
Beirut – The number of Iranian soldiers killed in Aleppo has raised to eight after revealing the death of two senior Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) officers, Qolam Hussein Mousavii and Ali Nazari.

Iranian news websites, including Defapress, announced that eight Iranian military personnel were killed in recent clashes in Aleppo, Syria.

Meanwhile, the body of IRGC fighter Farid Kawbani arrived to Ardibil from Syria. The arrival was preceded by the announcement of the death of two IRGC members in Syria, Mohammed Hasan Qasmi and Sadiq Mohammed Zadeh.

Anadolu Agency reported Defapress that the burial of three Afghan members of the Fatimids militia Reda Sultani, Merzajan Hosseini and Nasser Jalili will be held in Kerman city and Meshhad.

The number of dead IRGC, Afghani and Pakistani militia of Fatimids army and Zainab brigade had increased drastically.

On the other hand, arguments had increased between Syrian regime forces and its affiliated forces amid news that the so-called Hezbollah fighters are the only ones fighting at the front lines of al-Hamdaneyyah axis, al-Mahrokat hill, and the cement factory.

Military source told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that disputes between regime forces and the so-called Hezbollah increased in the past two days after the fighters from Jaysh al-Fatah had launched a series of attacks in southwest Aleppo.

The source added that they hear over radio-waves arguments and accusations being thrown between the two parties. He went on to say that the regime accuses the foreigners that they are not backing them well, knowing that Hezbollah fighters are the only one fighting after the withdrawal of Iraqi Nujaba and Iranian fighters.

According to the source, Hezbollah fighters are on the frontiers of Aleppo and on the hills of the southern countryside. With that, they are first line of defense in west Aleppo.

The source also reported that the Syrian regime is trying to regroup its soldiers in Aleppo and is reshuffling military posts after many have escaped from their stations.

The military source said the regime has assigned a new leader for Aleppo operation, but he believes that this will not achieve any progress given that the main fighters in that area are Hezbollah fighters and members of Nujaba.

Meanwhile, questions on why Colonel Suhail al-Hasan is not leading battles in Aleppo rose in regime supporters’ circles. Colonel Hasan, also known as ‘al-Nimr’ led in 2013 the battles in Aleppo and Sahel al-Ghab.

In recent developments, the source confirmed that the new attacks will be led by al-Aqsa fighters and Turkistan Islamic Party after they were relocated from Hama and Latakia fronts.

The military source said that the number of fighters is estimated to be at 4,000. He stressed that their military creed is based on engaging and suicide operations. They fight where they are needed and then move on to the next area.

Europe
German police carry out raids on suspected 'IS' backers
[DeutscheWelle] Raids took place in several German cities in the states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony on Wednesday morning, with police targeting three Islamist preachers suspected of recruiting members and backers for the holy warrior group "Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
" (IS), German public prosecutors said.

A front man for the prosecutors' office in Karlsruhe told DW that one of the Islamists was believed to have given financial and logistical support to the group. He said that no arrests had been made so far. Police officials confirmed that searches had been carried out in the cities of Dortmund, Duisburg and Hildesheim.

The interior minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Ralf Jäger, later said there had also been raids in his state in the cities of Dusseldorf and Tönisvorst connected with the three suspects. A report by the newspaper "Westdeutscher Allegemeiner Zeitung" said that the raid in Duisburg targeted a travel agency with a Turkish name. The agency's owner was believed to have contacts to two youths suspected of carrying out an explosives attack on a Sikh temple in Essen in April. The attack, which is thought to have been religiously motivated, injured three men, one seriously. The travel agency owner reportedly used a room on his premises for holding lessons on Islamic doctrine.

The Dormund and Hildesheim raids also targeted preachers suspected of recruiting young men to fight for IS in Syria and Iraq.

Late on Tuesday, police in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate said they had locked away
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
a 24-year-old Syrian asylum-seeker suspected of being a member of IS and acting on behalf of a high-ranking IS figure.

German police on Wednesday arrested another man in the city of Dinslaken in connection with the same investigation. Jäger said that the second arrest was related to "acts of violence" in Syria. He also denied media reports that the Syrian asylum-seeker in the first arrest was planning to carry out an attack at the start of the Bundesliga football season.

Arabia
Yemen Airports Close amid Intensified Saudi Raids
Airports have been closed and flights suspended across Yemen amid intensified Saudi Arabian military strikes against the impoverished country.

Saudi strikes in YemenThe airport closures took place on Wednesday as Saudi fighter jets continued to hit the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, and other cities across the country.

Saleh al-Samad, the head of the Ansarullah movement’s Political Council, called the continued Saudi strikes and the resultant halt to air travel a flagrant violation of human rights and international law.

He said the aerial transfer of medical and food supplies to millions of people across Yemen had been halted as a result of the suspension of the flights.

Samad held the United Nations (UN) responsible for failing to act on the situation in Yemen and the continued Saudi war on the country.
