Israel makes strides in solar power water distillation system for remote villages
The Jerusalem-based SunDwater, whose standalone system harnesses heat through concentrated solar power, now has two fully operational pre-production models purifying water in the Arava Desert.

...The system works by pumping any source of contaminated water through one pipe into the top of a parabolic dish, which follows the sun throughout the day. The rays that hit the dish are then reflected back onto a water boiler that sits in the dish’s center, Zimels explained.

As the boiler heats up the contaminated source, the water evaporates, leaving the pollutants behind. Pushed out of the boiler with pressure, but remaining in a closed system, the vapor is then recondensed back into cleaner water, according to Zimels.

All in all, depending on the temperature, the sun’s reflection and the water source, the $16,000 system is able to generate about 300-400 liters of water daily, he said. A control console manages the whole process, collecting data, providing remote access, checking contaminant levels and performing automatic cleaning, Zimels added.

Not quite Jerry Pournelle's "Power to the People", but...

Louis Farrakhan: Obama chose Israel, homosexuals over black community
Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan harshly criticized US President Barack Obama this week, accusing him of supporting Israel and the gay community instead of the black community.

He actively damaged the black community by choosing the black side in several high profile issues that turned out to not so clear cut once all the facts were in.

Fort Bragg vicinity teacher suspended for stomping on American flag
[CBS] FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- A North Carolina high school teacher says he has been placed on leave after students say he stepped on an American flag as part of a history lesson.
What exactly was he teaching?
The Fayetteville Observer reported Massey Hill Classical High School teacher Lee Francis said he was informed of his status by the Cumberland County Schools human resources department.

Francis said he’s scheduled to meet with system officials on Thursday to discuss the incident stemming from a lesson in his history class.

News media outlets quote students as saying Francis asked students for a lighter or scissors, and when no one produced them, he put the flag on the floor and stomped on it. Reports quote Francis as saying on his Facebook page that he was discussing a court case involving flag desecration.

There is a difference between theoretical and hands-on demonstrations. Be careful where you want to take that. If cops have body cams, maybe its past time for classroom cams to cover both teachers and students.

#4  “Just because I step on the flag doesn’t mean I step on their graves,” Francis told WNCN. “It doesn’t mean I step on their bodies as they return from overseas. It means I step on a piece of fabric.”

It is symbolic of those graves. Just ask the soldiers up the road at Ft. Bragg how they feel about you being a dickhead.

#5  "It means I step on a piece of fabric."

An interesting situation. Following links from here to the local newspaper report CBS drew from, I discovered Mr. Francis was disappointed not long ago in his primary run in a local Democratic race. And not only does Massey Hill Classic draw from the Ft. Bragg area, meaning lots of military families, but it is a college prep magnet school. From the school's website:

Though there is a great deal to learn about MHCHS, four characteristics make the school truly unique. First, at MHCHS all students adhere to a college/university preparatory curriculum. Students are encouraged to take a rigorous academic course load including additional required courses in foreign language, math, and science. In addition students experience electives in the arts and participate in Socratic seminar. Students are challenged to apply Habits of Mind that create critical and analytical thinking skills. MHCHS students’ end-of-course test scores and SAT scores are consistently among the best in the county.

The students are displaying the higher level thinking -- understanding that objects have symbolic as well as absolute value -- that such a program hopes to instill. The teacher, carefully limiting his awareness to the physical object, has demonstrated he is not suitable to engage in the level of instruction these students require. Also, as DarthVader says, that he is a dickhead.

Money Laundering Scheme Exposed: 14 Pro-Clinton Super PACs & Non-Profits Implicated
[Zero Hedge] This is serious. David Brock operates over a dozen pro-Clinton organizations from his office in Washington DC.

Uncovered records expose a constant flow of money between his organizations. Brock's unregistered Professional Solicitor, the Bonner Group, receives a 12.5% cut every time money is moved.

There's a reason why David Brock chooses to house an unregistered Professional Solicitor in his office to raise money for his conglomerate of Super PACs and non-profits.

Professional Solicitors are required to disclose their active solicitation contracts. Brock wants his unregistered solicitor, the Bonner Group, to keep their client list hidden for a very specific reason.

David Brock is laundering money. David Brock has 7 non-profits, 3 Super PACs, one 527-committee, one LLC, one joint fundraising committee, and one unregistered solicitor crammed into his office in Washington DC.

Uncovered records expose a constant flow of money between these organizations.

The Bonner Group, his professional solicitor, works off a commission. Every time money gets passed around, Bonner receives a 12.5% cut.

Nonprofits are required to disclose who they give cash grants to. But they aren't required to disclose who gave them cash grants. This weak system of one way verification is being abused by Brock. He’s been cycling money between his organizations for years, and the Bonner Group's 12.5% commission gets triggered after every pass.

In 2014, Media Matters for America raised $10,021,188.

The Bonner Group was credited for raising these funds. Media Matters paid them a $1,147,882 commission.

Nice truck attack: French police arrest eight more suspects
[Guardian] French authorities have made eight new arrests in connection with the Bastille Day truck attack in Nice that left 86 people dead, according to the Paris prosecutor's office.

The suspects detained on Monday were French and Tunisian, the office said, and had links to the attacker, Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, who ploughed a 19-tonne truck down the Promenade des Anglais and into a crowd that had gathered for a 14 July firework display.

All eight men were arrested in the south-eastern Alpes-Maritimes region, which includes Nice.

Princeton Professor Rips Obama For Condescending To Blacks
[American Lookout] Whoa! Hold the phone! There are few institutions, in America, more liberal than our educational system, and our colleges and universities are at the top of that list. So it’s hard to see why would a black professor at one our most prestigious universities blast the Progressive in Chief? Well, this one did and he let Obama have it on the subject of the black vote.
Princeton Professor Eddie S. Glaude Jr.
Suggesting that failure to vote Clinton would insult him, as if that were the biggest issue on the minds of the black voters, Obama stuck his foot in it as he inevitably disenfranchised the very people he needs to get behind Clinton.

Grabien News published an excerpt of his MSNBC interview where he rips Obama!

GLAUDE: "They’re getting a little wobbly but they’re still still sturdy. (Laughter) And part of -- you know, I am really -- I was really annoyed actually by the president’s speech."

SCARBOROUGH: "Were you really? I thought that was inspiring."

GLAUDE: "Well, you know, I think part of what we see is that the Clinton campaign made a bad decision. They spent most of the summer trying to court disaffected Republicans and taking their baits for granted. And I said on this show that how what would happen as she was getting the endorsement of Bush Republicans and the like, how would that excite those folks who were supporting Bernie Sanders? How would that excite Latino, how would it excite voters African-American voters? And so, now, what do we get? Instead of a series of rationale arguments from the president to black political -- to black voters, we get, you know, don’t insult me."

HRC Cancels Fundraiser in North Carolina with No Explanation
[GP] Hillary Clinton canceled her appearance tonight at a fundraiser in North Carolina.

No reason was given for the postponement of the Clinton event. Zero Hedge reported:

If there was a time Hillary needed to make a public appearance in the key battleground state of North Carolina to drum up voter support, it was today, if for no other reason than a just released Elon University poll finding Trump now has a modest 44% advantage among likely voters in the Tar Heel State, with 43% going to Clinton.

According to the poll, most voters felt Trump would be better for rich people, white people and men, while most believe Clinton would be better for poor people, women and minorities. "This election is so tight right now, that small swings of a few points should be expected between now and November," said Jason Husser, assistant professor of political science at Elon and director of the Elon University Poll. "North Carolina has been extremely important over the last several election cycles with very tight election outcomes. These numbers suggest that will continue to be the case, and both campaigns would do well to continue to focus on the Old North State."

It’s not just the closeness of the poll that makes NC so critical; it’s also Trump’s recent rebound, which as shown in the following chart from Real Clear Politics has him taking the lead for the first time since late June.

Which is why we find it surprising that with Hillary’s desperately needing to make an appearance, overnight CBS reported that Clinton campaign officials said that a Tuesday fundraiser in Chapel Hill was postponed.

Palestinian Terrorist's Wife to Address Clinton Foundation
[Breitbart] Donald Trump is criticizing Hillary Clinton over the fact that the Clinton Foundation is honoring a Palestinian teacher whose husband is a convicted terrorist on Tuesday evening.

Hanan an-Hroub is scheduled to speak at a Clinton Global Initiative event in New York after winning a $1 million teaching award from another charity that donates to the Clinton Foundation. Her husband, Omar al-Hroub, spent 10 years in an Israeli prison for his role in a 1980 bombing that killed six Israelis.

The event is going ahead as planned, in spite of the recent Islamist terrorist bombings in New York and New Jersey, which injured dozens.

The Wall Street Journal noted Tuesday:

Omar al-Hroub was convicted on charges that he was an accomplice in a deadly bombing attack in Hebron that killed Israelis walking home from Friday night Sabbath prayers. According to an Associated Press account at the time, Omar al-Hroub was a chemist who provided chemicals needed for making the bombs.

Trump campaign spokesman Jason Miller said:

Today’s report that the Clinton Foundation is feting the wife of a Palestinian man convicted of helping bomb innocent Israeli citizens is deeply disturbing, especially in the wake of this weekend’s attacks. The decision to honor the wife of a terrorist by Hillary Clinton’s foundation shows a complete lack of judgment and a callousness that should disqualify her from holding the presidency.

The Republican National Committee has also reportedly objected.

Sarkozy Slams ‘Medieval Behaviour', Sez Immigrants Should ‘Live Like The French'
[Breitbart] FRANCONVILLE (FRANCE) - French Presidential hopeful Nicolas Sarkozy said that once immigrants are granted citizenship in France they "should live like the French".

Speaking at a public meeting in the northern Paris suburb of Franconville, the outspoken former president, who wants to return to the top job in 2017, also denounced "extremist political Islam" whose goal was to "provoke the Republic".

"I will be the president of action, I do not accept the 238" victims of attacks in France since January 2015, he added, promising to lead a "merciless war" on Islamist terrorism.

"I will not accept the medieval behaviour that wants men to swim in swimsuits while the women are locked up" in burkinis, he added.

Denouncing the "tyranny of minorities", Sarkozy said that if he won the 2017 election, he would be "the president of the national community, because in France the only community that matters is the French community."

Hey Nick, good luck with that 'Live Like the French' effort.

Lugansk president's parents die in Voronezh
The unidentified parents of Lugansk president Igor Plotnitskiy died Tuesday in Voronezh oblast, according to Russian language media accounts.

The two pensioners were admitted to a local hospital last weekend, then later transferred to a hospital in Moskva, where they died.

The cause of death was said to be food poisoning from mushrooms.

Plotnitsky himself was seriously wounded by a roadside bomb in Lugansk last August. Plotnitsky is not a popular leader in Lugansk and has been linked to the deaths of several military formation commanders under his command, most of them ethnic Cossacks.

US special forces sabotage covert training mission in Syria
[FortunasCorner] "Nobody believes in it. You're like, "Fuck this,'" a former Green Beret says of America's covert and clandestine programs to train and arm Syrian militias. "Everyone on the ground knows they are jihadis. No one on the ground believes in this mission or this effort, and they know they are just training the next generation of jihadis, so they are sabotaging it by saying, "Fuck it, who cares?'"
Yea, ok. Find yourself on the wrong team? Being used? No bloody sympathy for you, my brother. You signed up for Goldwater-Nichols in 1986 (separate budget from big Army). Sucked up to Foggy Bottom, the Country Team, money, guns and gear, along with every Klingon MTT and half-step mission that came along. So now eat it! No sympathy for Klingon Para-Mil nugs either. After 30+ years of red headed step child, what do you still not understand? You should have stayed on active duty. Get a real job, losers. The author hit the DZ with the last sentence. Great article by the way. Excellent find and a hat tip to VRWC for posting. There, I said it.
"I don't want to be responsible for Nusra guys saying they were trained by Americans," the Green Beret added. A second Special Forces soldier commented that one Syrian militia they had trained recently crossed the border from Jordan on what had been pitched as a large-scale shaping operation that would change the course of the war. Watching the battle on a monitor while a drone flew overhead, "We literally watched them, with 30 guys in their force, run away from three or four ISIS guys."

Another militia commander came back to Jordan to be debriefed by CIA case officers stationed at Damascus X, the exiled CIA station now located in Amman, Jordan, since departing Syria's capital after the civil war began. The Syrian proxy broke down saying that he might as well join ISIS-something the case officer had to talk him out of.

But perhaps this was a step in the right direction from a the recent past, when the commander of the now-defunct Syrian Revolutionary Front came in for a debriefing, telling his CIA handler that a helicopter was shot down and destroyed some of his equipment but he also claimed that he had an expensive suit onboard the aircraft that the CIA also needed to replace.
http://www.menswearhouse.com/CIA
While the press has reported extensively on the over 100 armed groups within Syria vying for control, and the occasional report comes out about U.S. special operations troops in Syria and wasteful spending on covert action programs, the wider story about the U.S. Special Forces arming Syrian anti-ISIS forces while the CIA conducts a parallel program to arm anti-Assad regime forces has yet to be told-until now. It is a story of fraud, waste, and abuse, as well as bureaucratic infighting and a disgusting excess, which has only contributed to perpetuating the Syrian conflict.

Borrowed from Latin, from the verse Georgica which was written by the Roman poet Virgil which is sed fugit interea fugit irreparabile tempus ‎(“but it flees meanwhile: irretrievable time flees”) which has the less literal translation "while, the irreplaceable time escapes".

Not your fault, Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. I was a little shocked to see this discussion out in the open, but I'm glad to know that -- after just about every past trainee deserted to or was destroyed by the enemy -- our guys are not turning the current trainees into the best they can be.

ISIS Top Dawg has a Very Bad Day near Mosul
(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A source in the Ministry of Interior, Iraq, informed Iraqi News on Tuesday that a senior ISIS leader was killed south of Mosul on Saturday.

Quoting a report of Kurdistan National Security Council Anti-Terror agency, the source said, “In one of the coalition airstrikes senior ISIS leader Abu Abdul-Rahman al-Shishani was killed.”

“The senior leader Tamas al-Shishani, also known as Abu Abdul-Rahman al-Shishani and some of his aides were killed on Saturday near al-Shur to the south of Mosul.”

It may be mentioned here that the Kurdistan Region’s security forces, especially its special and anti-terror forces, are main partners with the international coalition in the war against ISIS.

Ageela Saleh’s military adviser reported killed in helicopter crash near Tobruk
[Libya Herald] A military helicopter crashed early this morning some 90 kilometres west of Tobruk, reportedly killing Brigadier General Idris Younis, the military adviser to President of the House of Representatives Ageela Saleh. Four other people travelling with him, three senior officers and his son Ahmed Idris, are also said to have been killed as were the three crew.

The helicopter was travelling from Tobruk to Ras Lanuf.

There is no suggestion at present that the helicopter was shot down. According to Colonel Ahmed Mismari, the front man for the Libyan National Army, the incident was the result of a technical failure.

2 soldiers lightly hurt by firebomb during West Bank raid
[IsraelTimes] Troops conduct arrest operation and sweeps in Paleostinian areas, as renewed violence continues into its fifth day

Two IDF soldiers were lightly injured by a Molotov cocktail thrown at them during an arrest raid in the Deheishe refugee camp, south of Bethlehem, early Tuesday morning, officials said.

The soldiers had entered the refugee camp in the early hours of Tuesday morning to arrest three men suspected of taking part in violent demonstrations and rock throwing. It was among a series of raids conducted throughout the West Bank, by the end of which some 27 Paleostinians were taken into custody, the army said.

During the Deheishe incident, local residents threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at the soldiers, injuring two of them, according to an IDF statement. The Israeli force drove back the rock and Molotov cocktail throwers with "riot dispersal means," the army said.

The maimed soldiers were taken to Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center for treatment. One sustained second-degree burns from the Molotov cocktail, while the second suffered from smoke inhalation, a spokesperson for the hospital said.

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
the soldier who was scorched by the Molotov cocktail "has been hospitalized for further treatment," she added.

In the Abu Sneina neighborhood of Hebron, where a Paleostinian man allegedly tried to stab an IDF soldier on Monday night, the army conducted "sweeps of the area," during which they found "a drill press for the manufacturing of weapons, commando knives, bullets and other military equipment," according to a statement.

Additional illicit military equipment, including a hunting rifle, was seized in Bani Za’id, outside of Ariel, and in Attil, northeast of Tulkarem, the army said.

In addition to the three arrests in Deheishe, IDF troops picked up two alleged members of the Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, terrorist organization in the Jenin area, along with 22 people suspected of rock throwing and rioting from villages and cities around the West Bank, the army said.

The suspects have all been processed for further interrogation, the IDF said.

Since Friday, Jerusalem and the West Bank have seen daily attacks by Paleostinians, with all but one directed against Israeli security forces.

The most recent attack, on Tuesday morning, saw a Paleostinian teenager shot and killed while attempting to stab an IDF soldier near Bani Na’im, outside of Hebron, the army said. The Paleostinian health ministry identified him as Issa Salem Tarayrah, 16.

“We took the liberty to make some enquiries concerning the ground of their pretensions to make war upon nations who had done them no injury, and observed that we considered all mankind as our friends who had done us no wrong, nor had given us any provocation.

The Ambassador [of Tripoli] answered us that it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise.

Unidentified warplane hits civilian people in Sokna town
[Libya Observer] At least seven people were killed and four others maimed on Tuesday in an Arclight airstrike conducted by an unidentified warplane on Ninah Park in Sokna town, around 600 km southeast of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
Sources said local and non-resident families were enjoying sulphurous waters inside the park when the Arclight airstrike took place.

Women and children were among the victims, the sources added.

Misrata Airbase denied social media rumours that the warplane had taken off from Misrata.

"There were no air missions in that region today, there were only reconnaissance flights in the coastline," the front man for the emergency air operations Mohammed Gango confirmed.

The UN-proposed Presidency Council held an urgent meeting in Tripoli to discuss the incident. It also tasked the defence ministry to set up an immediate investigation into the incident.

Kuntzman: 3% of American adults hold us all hostage
[NYDailyNews] America is being held hostage by a tiny minority of absolute lunatics for whom owning two, three, eight or even 10 guns is simply not enough.

That’s the main finding of the first comprehensive study of gun owners in two decades.
No, the main finding is that the vast majority of gun owners are serious, sober, responsible people, whether they own one gun or ten.
Among the many findings — that handgun purchases are soaring, that Americans wrongly believe
Just a little judgmental, aren't we?
hey need more guns for personal safety, and that there are more privately held guns in this country than cars — is a bit of news so shocking, it should embolden our spineless lawmakers in Washington:
Why? Nothing seems to 'embolden' our spineless Congress-critters. Terrorism, economic collapse, national debt, health care, none of that emboldens them. Why should a non-crisis like gun ownership?
Roughly half of all guns are owned by just 3% of American adults.

The study by Harvard and Northeastern Universities — leaked to the gun website The Trace and the Guardian US before publication next year — estimates that there are now 265 million firearms in private hands in the U.S.

And about 130 million of these guns are owned by that 3% — what the Guardian called “a group of super-owners who have amassed an average of 17 guns each.”
Any of them committing crimes? Any of them violating the law? Any of them threatening anyone?
Call them “super owners” or, as I prefer, “super paranoid whack jobs” — but whatever you call them, they have a disproportionate influence over gun policy in this country.
Considering the thousands of gun control laws in this country, I'd say the obverse is true.
Certainly, millions of Americans own guns — 55 million in the new study, up from 44 million two decades ago — but as a share of the population, gun owners have dropped from 25% to 22%.

So if gun owners represent a smaller portion of our population — and nearly half of all guns are owned by dead-enders — isn’t it time for our politicians to realize that they don’t have to listen to them anymore?
Yes. Ignore a minority. How.. American.
The study also offers another reason why our lawmakers should ignore the worst fears of gun owners: Two out of three firearm owners say that self-defense was their primary motivation for getting a gun. That’s up from 46% in 1994.
A motivation, but wrong. The Right to Keep and Bear Arms is to keep a tyrannical government in check. That could be a major reason why Congress leaves guns alone.
What has happened during those 20 years? Crime has plummeted. FBI stats show that overall violent crime and murder are half of what they were in the early 1990s. Robbery has been reduced by more than half.
Paging Fox Butterfield to the headline courtesy phone: as gun ownership grows, crime has gone down.
Frankly, this self-defense argument should be handled by the psychiatrists of all these fraidy cats rather than our politicians, who should be debating concrete facts, not unfounded fears.
This is the guy who was frightened at the sound of an AR firing last summer. Just who is the "fraidy cat"?
Worse, the only thing the self-defense crowd has to fear is the self-defense crowd itself: Studies show that people who die in accidental shootings were more than three times as likely to have had a firearm in their home.
Duh. More weapons present in any scenario means accidents will be higher than when no weapons are present. That's one of the reasons why we have an NRA, which teaches gun safety.
So, memo to Washington lawmakers: The vast majority of Americans does not own guns. So when the three-percenters come to you looking for fewer gun restrictions, you can tell them to buzz off. We the people have got your back.
Have their back? With what? Your good intentions?
Classic case of 'othering'. Mr. Kuntzman sees gun owners, conservatives and the like as deplorable, irredeemable, and un-American. The eliminationist rhetoric is next.
As Hershel Smith has remarked, why do academics think that gun owners will tell them the truth about gun ownership?

The people who care most about a subject always have a disproportionate influence over it; for some decades they were at a disadvantage to the equally passionate anti-gun crowd, but that crowd has shrunk dramatically as liberals have increasingly found reasons to invest in their first gun.

Congo-Kinshasa: Up to 20 Dead Following Anti-Government Protests in DR Congo
[All Africa] Government sources say that 14 civilians and three coppers were killed during anti-Kabila protests in Kinshasa Monday. Three more bodies were found Tuesday morning in the burned-out offices of a main opposition Party.

The charred remains of three people were visible on Tuesday morning inside the headquarters of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS), one of the main opposition parties in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...
(DRC). The office was set on fire overnight following a day of violent protests against President Joseph Kabila, a witness said.

On Monday, Interior Minister Evariste Boshab reported that "14 civilians involved in looting" and three coppers were killed and one of the coppers was "burned alive."

A coalition of opposition groups put the number of dead at more than 50. "The coalition deplores the number of victims, more than 50 dead at this point, victims of the firing of real bullets by the police and the elite republican guard," the group said in a statement.

News videos from the scene show protestors clashing with security forces and at least one protestor being carried away after gun shots are heard. The heavy festivities erupted in the capital ahead of a planned mass opposition rally.

The protesters were marching against President Joseph Kabila's perceived bid to extend his mandate. There has been growing local and international pressure on Kabila to step down when his term legally ends in December. Opposition supporters have accused the sitting president of wanting to extend his rule by not holding elections originally scheduled for November as required by the constitution. His supporters deny this charge.

Georges Kapiamba, director of the local NGO - Congolese Association for Access to Justice - said that demonstrations also took place in other parts of the country, including Goma, Bukavu, and Beni. Dozens of people died in similar protests against Kabila last year.

"I have seen offices of President Kabila's party as well as offices of other political parties allied to the president's coalition burnt down," said Patrice Chitera, DW's correspondent in Kinshasa.

Ghana Academics Demand to Remove 'Racist' Gandhi's Statue
[All Africa] A group of professors at the University of Ghana have demanded the removal of a Mahatma Gandhi memorial from the campus. They accuse the Indian hero of being "racist" towards Africans.
... the perfect being the enemy of the good...
In an online petition, Ghanaian academics led by Akosua Adomako Ampofo urged authorities to facilitate "the removal of the statue of Gandhi." The statue was presented to the Ghanaian government when Indian President Pranab Mukherjee visited Accra in June this year.

The teachers expressed dismay that the university administration had not consulted its staff before agreeing to install the statue in the institution's premises; they said it was the only memorial of a historical personality in the campus.

In the petition, the professors asked: "How will the historian teach and explain that Gandhi was uncharitable in his attitude towards the Black race and see that we're glorifying him by erecting a statue on our campus?"

As of the time of publication, just over 950 people had signed the online petition urging the statue's removal.

Born on October 2, 1869 in Gujarat
...where rioting seems to be a traditional passtime...
in western India, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also known as the "Mahatma" (meaning "the great soul"), was famous for his non-violent resistance to British colonial rule.

He went to study law in London in 1888 and after a short stint back in India, left for Cape Colony (now South Africa) in 1893 to represent a local firm. Once in Africa, he experienced several instances of racism, including being thrown out of a train for being Indian - despite having a first-class ticket.

The incident, along with several others, is believed to have spurred him to launch a movement against color prejudice. He also started the Passive Resistance Movement in the colony in 1906, according to information on the website of Sevagram Ashram, a charitable trust founded by Gandhi in 1936 in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. South Africa's anti-Apartheid hero Nelson Mandela wrote of the inspiration Gandhi had provided him.

Gandhi's 'racist' ideas
The rationale for their demand, the professors said, was Gandhi's objectionable references to Africans as being socially lower than Indians. In his writings, the leader referred to black Africans as "kaffirs," a derogatory term for black people.

The petitioners quoted sentences from Gandhi's collected works. In an open letter to "The Natal Mercury" in 1894, he wrote, "A general belief seems to prevail in the Colony that the Indians are little better, if at all, than savages or the Natives of Africa. Even the children are taught to believe in that manner, with the result that the Indian is being dragged down to the position of a raw Kaffir."

In a speech at a public meeting in Bombay in 1896, Gandhi spoke about the racist treatment meted out to ethnic Indians in trains running through the South African colony. "Ours is one continual struggle against a degradation sought to be inflicted upon us by the Europeans, who desire to degrade us to the level of the raw Kaffir whose occupation is hunting, and whose sole ambition is to collect a certain number of cattle to buy a wife with and then, pass his life in indolence and nakedness."

Removing racist symbols
The petitioners used several examples from Gandhi's writings to urge authorities to remove the memorial. "We are of the view that if there should be statues on our campus, first and foremost, they should be of African heroes and heroines, who can serve as examples of who we are and what we have achieved as people."

"At world class universities, even former bastions of slavery, apartheid and white supremacy, statues and other symbols associated with controversial persons have been pulled down or removed," they added.

They referred to similar cases, including one in Yale in August, where authorities decided to replace stained-glass windows depicting enslaved Africans. In October 2015, Rhodes University established a team to find a new name for the university, named after Cape Colony's former prime minister, Cecil Rhodes - a British imperialist with notoriously racist political views.

Despite his legacy of non-violent struggle, Gandhi is a controversial personality. Other than his dubious comments on African people, there have been accusations regarding his approach towards sexuality and his relations with his wife and children, as well as his support for India's caste system.

The NFL opener, a Super Bowl rematch between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers, brought 25.2 million viewers — which is an astonishing number of eyeballs. “For comparison, The Walking Dead averages around 14 million live viewers as TV’s most-watched show,” Forbes wrote.

But that’s down 8 percent from 2015 and 6 percent from 2014. Sunday’s numbers, Forbes added, were down 13 percent from last year.

“This also marked the lowest overnight season-opening rating in seven years,” Forbes found.

Afghanistan
Gen. Dostum’s convoy of guards ambushed by Taliban
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The convoy of Security guards of the first vice president General Abdul Rashid Dostum
...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier...
was ambushed by the Talibs in north of the country.

According to local officials in Jawzjan province, the incident took place in the vicinity of Khwajah Dokoh district.

Provincial police chief Gen. Khwajah Rahmatullah Turkistani said a brief clash took place between the two sides but no casualties were incurred to the security forces and guards of Dostum.

He said there are no reports regarding the casualties of the Death Eaters during the clash.

According to Gen. Turkistani, no dead body of the Death Eaters was left in the area and only some blood stains could be seen in the scene of the clash.

The anti-government armed Death Eater groups including the Talibs have not commented regarding the incident so far.

Jawzjan is among the relatively volatile provinces in northern Afghanistan where the anti-government armed Death Eater groups are actively operating in a number of its districts.

60 Daesh targets destroyed in northern Syria
[AA.TR] Sixty detected ISIS targets in northern Syria have been destroyed with 171 rounds of Firtina [storm] howitzer fire, the Turkish military said Tuesday.

As part of operation Euphrates Shield, coalition forces carried out three air strikes against detected ISIS members in the Bahvurtah region, the Turkish General Staff said in a statement.

The Army said four ISIS members were "neutralized" and two building and two mortars were destroyed.

Operation Euphrates Shield began last month and saw the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
, backed by Turkish Armed Forces, take the city of Jarabulus from ISIS.

A total area of 900 square kilometers (347 miles) has been cleansed of snuffies in northern Syria, according to the Turkish Army.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
has said Operation Euphrates Shield is aimed at bolstering border security, supporting coalition forces and eliminating the threat posed by terror organizations, especially ISIS.

The operation is in line with the country’s right to self-defense borne out of international treaties and a mandate given to Turkey’s armed forces by parliament in 2014, which was extended for another year in September 2015.

Malawi Govt Denies President Mutharika is Ill: Meets Africa's Richest Man Dangote in US
[All Africa] Malawi government has said President Peter Mutharika, currently in New York for UN General Assembly is in good health, dismissing an social media rumours that he suffered a cardiac arrest.

Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Francis Kasaila strongly dismissed the claims.

He assured Malawians that Mutharika is enjoying good health in the United States.

This was after the social media became awash with reports that Mutharika was down with cardiac arrests and others mentioned other ailments.

However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
Kasaila said Mutharika was enjoying good health ever and was fullfilling his engagements.

Rumors about Mutharika’s health are common but Kasaila who is also front man of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party , has described them as lies spread by opponents.

Kasaila said Mutharika was "very strong and healthy," saying opponents are trying to deceive Malawi and cause despondency.

This is the first time this year the government has chosen to respond to rumors.

Kasaila downplays concerns about Mutharika’s health.

The President, who is in his late 70’s, has shown signs of age. Early this year he was caught on camera by Malawi News tripping and falling down during tree planting season.

DOJ Failed to Review 7,250 Cases on Phony Forensics
Ninth Circuit Judge Alex Kozinski, one of the brightest legal minds in the country and fearless in his willingness to hold the government accountable, has issued another challenge to our justice system writ large and the Department of Justice in particular. In today’s Wall Street Journal, Judge Kozinski explains the importance of a report the White House is releasing today from the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology [PCAST].

This report calls into question or flat out condemns “the scientific validity of forensic evidence techniques” on which rest countless criminal convictions in federal and state courts across the country. This includes DNA, fingerprint, bitemark, firearm, footwear and hair analysis. As Judge Kozinski notes, television shows like CSI have instilled a belief that these methods can be trusted, and many juries have convicted based on them. But in truth, both the methods and those who apply them are quite fallible. Indeed, Judge Kozinski writes, “Bitemark analysis is about as reliable as astrology.”

There are many examples of false identifications—even with fingerprints, which we have long thought were so accurate. One need only look to the FBI’s declaration that the 2004 Madrid bombing fingerprint matched that of an American lawyer. Fortunately for that American, Spanish authorities identified the real bomber.

#1  One need only look to the FBI’s declaration that the 2004 Madrid bombing fingerprint matched that of an American lawyer.

A lawyer's fingerprints on the Madrid bomb? Couldn't get him for something like jaywalking or tearing the labels off mattresses?

Judge Alex is correct. There are two court standards for admissible expert testimony. These two legal tests for expert testimony are: the Frye test and the Daubert test. Judges are faced with deciding whether evidence and expert qualifications meet these standards. I have seen some experts not allowed to testify in court as the result of these standards. Some sciences are "soft" such as the area of psychiatry and psychology whereas others are "harder" such as those of physics and engineering. At times the technology is in a nascent stage and just not well-developed.

WATCH: Israeli Air Force shoots down Hamas drone
[Ynet] After the Israeli Air Force identified a Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, UAV take off and fly over the Gazoo coastline Tuesday morning, an IAF F-16 took out the drone with a missile.

The Israeli Air Force shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle belonging to Hamas on Tuesday morning.

The drone was shot down over the coastline in the Gazoo Strip, and the IDF stated that it never penetrated Israeli territory. The military also stated that they had tracked the UAV from the moment that it launched.
See video at the link.
An IAF plane shot it down. The IDF commented, "We will not allow a violation of airspace, and we will with determination against any such attempt."

The IAF aircraft, which was an F-16, shot down the drone around 10am. It used a missile to take the Hamas UAV out.
I imagine it's good target practice for the lads.

Costa Rica closes 2 airports after volcano eruptions
[AA.TR] Two airports in Costa Rica were temporally closed Monday after ashes spilled from the Turrialba volcano, local authorities said.

Operations at the Juan Santamaria International Airport, the country’s main air terminal, and the Tobias Bolanos airport, were suspended until conditions improve, according to the chief of the Civil Aviation Directorate Ennio Cubillo.

"The particles are not only in the airspace but also on the surfaces of taxing and takeoff," he told local media.

Authorities also considered whether to limit the general aviation activities at the Daniel Oduber International Airport located in the northwest of the Central American nation.

Eight flights were suspended at the Santamaria Airport, from which an estimated 6,238 passengers departed Monday, according to Civil Aviation Directorate figures.

The Turrialba volcano, located in central Costa Rica, erupted several times Monday throwing a column of ash 4,000 meters during the first eruption, followed by one about 1,000 meters high, according to the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica.

The first eruption spewed incandescent rock more than 500 meters high, along with gas and ash, that reached Central Valley communities, about 70 kilometers (45 miles) west of the volcano.

Florida Debate Audience Laughs After Charlie Crist Calls Hillary ‘Honest’
[MEDIAITE] During a Florida congressional debate, the audience began to jeer and guffaw after one of candidates said he was voting for Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as the Smartest Woman in the World and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another John C. Calhoun ...
because of her honesty.

Republican Florida Congressman David Jolly is locked into a heated race with former Republican-turned-independent-turned-Democratic governor Charlie Christ in Florida’s 13th district. Monday night, the two candidates debated for the first time at St. Petersburg College.

"I am proud of Hillary Clinton. I think she’s been a very good Secretary of State, a very good senator from the state of New York," Crist said when asked if he would vote for his party’s candidate. "The thing I like most about her is she is steady. I believe she is strong. I believe she is honest." It was the last remark that caused a sudden swell of laughter.

Crist has an interesting history of debate antics, twice almost causing his debates to be cancelled by insisting on using a small portable fan, even when its use was against the rules.

Despite flaws, paperless voting machines remain widespread in US
[Dhaka Tribune] US election officials have known about the shortcomings of touch-screen systems since shortly after they were widely adopted in the early 2000s, when researchers showed that vote results could be manipulated with tools as simple as a magnet and a Palm Pilot-style handheld device.

The systems have produced questionable results in some elections. In Florida, more than 18,000 iVotronic machines did not record a vote in a 2006 congressional race in which the margin of victory was less than 400 votes. In Fairfax County, Virginia, electronic machines subtracted one vote for every hundred cast for one candidate in a 2003 school-board race. More than 4,400 electronic ballots in Carteret County, North Carolina, were lost and never recovered in the 2004 presidential election.

Since 2008, states such as Maryland have traded in their touch-screen machines for optical-scan systems. Others like Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, and Ohio have added printers to their touch-screen machines which produce a backup paper trail, while Washington and Colorado moved to mail-in ballots. Absentee balloting is also cutting into the use of paperless systems. In 2012, for example, roughly 1 in 10 voters who lived in areas that used paperless systems cast absentee ballots.

Indian army claims to have foiled 'infiltration bid' in Uri sector
[DAWN] The Indian army on Tuesday claimed to have blocked an attempt by suspected militants to infiltrate India-held Kashmir (IHK). An Indian army spokesman made this claim just days after a deadly raid on a military base in the territory.

"A group of 10-12 terrorists attempted to infiltrate the Uri sector. They were intercepted and the infiltration bid was foiled," said Indian Army Spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia, referring to the same area where Sunday's attack took place.

Earlier today, Indian and Pakistani troops allegedly exchanged fire across the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector, Indian army officials claimed.

However, Pakistani military sources denied any exchange of fire taking place across the LoC.

India blamed Sunday's attack in which 18 soldiers died on Pakistan-based militants.

The attack which was the worst of its kind to hit the region in more than a decade increased hostility between the two neighbours as they gear up for a showdown at the United Nations General Assembly over held Kashmir.

Indian army spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia, alleged that there had been a "ceasefire violation" near Uri, where Sunday's attack took place, but gave no further details. Uri is near the LoC which divides the disputed territory.

"Small arms exchange of fire is on in the area," a senior police officer told AFP on condition of anonymity.

Occasional violations of a 2003 ceasefire between Pakistan and India are not uncommon. Tuesday's alleged exchange was the first since Sunday's attack.

From covert to overt
[DAWN] THE decision by Brahamdagh Bugti to seek political asylum in India is ominous; it is a dangerous twist to rising regional tensions. The move comes at a time when India has stepped up its aggressive rhetoric indicating it will exploit Pakistain’s "vulnerabilities" in the troubled Balochistan

province.

Brahamdagh and other Baloch separatist leaders have been living in exile in Europe for the past many years. His decision to move to India apparently came after the Swiss government rejected his request for asylum. Although there is nothing new about the Indian connection with the Baloch insurgency, the granting of asylum would in a way formalise New Delhi’s use of sub-conventional warfare to undermine the state of Pakistain.

Militancy nexus
[DAWN] CHIEF Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali’s comments on Monday about a "nexus" between certain political and religious parties, and snuffies is not only a bold assertion of the truth, it also vindicates what many -- including this paper -- have been saying for long: until political and religious parties distance themselves from violent elements under their wing, the war against militancy will not be won. Several examples spring to mind that confirm Chief Justice Jamali’s concerns. For example in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
, the existence of a bad boy wing of the MQM has been an open secret for decades. Until the Muttahida got on the wrong side of the security establishment recently, it held Karachi in a vice-like grip, enforced by its dreaded bad boy faction. The PPP also patronised elements from Karachi’s underworld -- specifically in Lyari
...one of the eighteen constituent towns of the city of Karachi. It is the smallest town by area in the city but also the most densely populated. Lyari has few schools, substandard hospitals, a poor water system, limited infrastructure, and broken roads. It is a stronghold of ruling Pakistan Peoples Party. Ubiquitous gang activity and a thriving narcotics industry make Lyari one of the most disturbed places in Karachi, which is really saying a lot....
-- in the shape of the so-called Peoples Amn Committee

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
US resident gets 10-year Iran prison sentence
"Another hostage for the next trade with the infidel Americans, Effendi."
"Good, just stack him with the others, Ramin. Soon there will be enough for another 'nuclear power plant'."
[IsraelTimes] A US permanent resident detained for a year in Iran over spying allegations has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and a $4.2 million fine, his supporters say. The punishment is the latest move in a crackdown on those with foreign ties following last year’s nuclear deal.

The sentence for Nizar Zakka, a Lebanese citizen who advocates for internet freedom and whose nonprofit group did work for the US government, comes as Iranian officials attend the United Nations General Assembly this week in New York.

A statement early Tuesday from Jason Poblete, a US lawyer representing Zakka, said a Revolutionary Court in Tehran handed down the sentence in a 60-page verdict that Zakka’s supporters have yet to see.

Amnesty International has said Zakka had only two court hearings before the ruling and received only limited legal assistance. The closed-door tribunal handles cases involving alleged attempts to overthrow the government.

“There’s no regard for any international order, any international agreement or any international state of relations that they care about,” says David Ramadan, a former Virginia state legislator who co-founded a group called Friends of Nizar Zakka.

#1  An old Moslem Custom. Dates back for absolute centuries.

The young United States had to contend with such Moslem Values and extortion right after the American Revolution, if I remember correctly. That is why Stephen Decatur is so famous and other individuals and events. But today we have Barack Hussein and all that. Bend over America is the new tune.

#2  The young U.S. paid, partly because it didn't have the military to 'pay otherwise.' Many believed it was cheaper to pay tribute than having to build a military; the idea of a standing military was an anathema to many.

As an aside, Decatur's exploits came after a moumental screw-up that caused the loss of the USS Philadelphia.

But that's all History. So much easier to blather rote.

"In a country where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex persons ( LGBT) people are already marginalised and need to hide for fear for arbitrary violence , the planned demonstrations is an appalling move to further curtail the rights of LGBT people, and those who support them," Trapence observed.

Her regretted "church-sponsored homophobia."

Arabia
Houthis recruit Somali child soldiers
Yemen’s internationally recognized President Abedrabu Mansour Hadi at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has warned on Monday that the Iran-backed Houthi militia group has recruited refugee children hailing from Somalia.

Hadi, who urged the international community and aid agencies for support, said the influx of refugees coming from the nearby Horn of Africa comes on top of Yemen’s already three million internally displaced people (IDP).

The Horn of Africa denotes the region containing the countries of Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Somalia.

“Yemen has 1.2 million refugees or illegal migrants. On a monthly basis there are 14,000 refugees who reach Yemen - about 12,000 from Ethiopia and 2,000 from Somalia,” he said. “The number of the new arrivals to Yemen in the first half of this year has reached 60,000 as per UN figures.”

He also said these refugees are treated like Yemenis, and “they study in our schools and universities…and compete with Yemenis for jobs.”

The Houthis in September 2014 had forced Hadi into exile after their attempted coup. Houthis and their allies from loyalists to deposed Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh are still in control of Sanaa and have announced a political committee to administer the crisis-hit country after the Yemen peace talks in Kuwait ended without any breakthrough in early August.

Meanwhile, the UN envoy for Yemen, Ismail Ould al-Sheikh Ahmed, said on Monday night that ceasefire violations in Yemen has become a “raging war,” describing the humanitarian situation there as “worsening and catastrophic.”

He said 21 million Yemenis from out of the total 25 million population are in need of humanitarian aid.

The envoy said preparations are going on for a meeting on Yemen, scheduled to take place on Sept. 21, on the sidelines of UNGA.

He also said that after a meeting with Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sabah Khaled al-Hamad al-sabah at UNGA, there are “diplomatic forays taking place on Yemen especially after the last Jeddah meeting.”

His statement hinted at some developments regarding renewed peace talks on Yemen.

After the last failed talks in Kuwait, the UN envoy said new peace talks will be announced but so far this has not yet materialised.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Gazipur councillor ‘kills’ wife
She's "dead now."
[Dhaka Tribune] An allegation has been raised that Gazipur City Corporation Councillor Solaiman Miah has killed his wife Nusrat Jahan Tumpa.

Tumpa, 30, is the daughter of local BNP leader Nazrul Islam. The AL-backed councillor is now on the run after the incident.

The couple were married for 12 years and have an eight-year-old son.

Tumpa’s father Nazrul Islam said: "They started having issues five years into their marriage and had fights on a regular basis over Solaiman’s addiction to drugs and extra-marital affair."

He claimed Solaiman used to beat up his daughter every time they had a quarrel.

Nazrul said Tumpa locked into a quarrel with Solaiman when she discovered a woman’s photo in his mobile phone during a family outing to Jamuna Future Park on Sunday. Tumpa’s brother Sayeed and his wife were with them during the trip.

He also said: "Solaiman killed my daughter Sunday night after Sayeed had dropped them home."

On Monday morning, their domestic help informed Tumpa’s mother over the phone that no one was answering from inside despite repeated knocks on the door.

Later, the family members broke into the flat and found Tumpa senseless. They took her to Crescent Hospital in Uttara where the doctors declared her dead.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for an appointment with Dr. Quincy at night. Family members have claimed several injury marks were seen on Tumpa’s body.

Uttara West SI Shahed Parvez said: "Dark spots have been found on her body. We can only confirm if it was a murder after we get the autopsy report."

Home Front: Politix
Obama won’t acknowledge terrorism -- and it’s great news for Trump
[NYPOST] Poor President B.O.. He had a perfect plan -- to use his final UN speech Tuesday to secure his reputation for putting Globalism First. He would preen to the assembled autocrats and babus bureaucrats about forcing America to take in a record number of refugees, and blast Donald Trump for putting America First.
In the Wonderful World of Obama the Name equals the Thing. The America First Committee (AFC) was the foremost non-interventionist pressure group against the American entry into World War II. It had nothing to do with the Know Nothing Party, as far as I can tell. Peaking at 800,000 paid members in 450 chapters, it was one of the largest anti-war organizations in American history. It was founded at Yale University. Started on September 4, 1940, it was dissolved on December 10, 1941, three days after the attack on Pearl Harbor had brought the war to America. Donald Trump isn't selling their product.
Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as For a good time at 3 a.m. call Hillary and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Edward Stettinius, Jr. ...
also had a perfect plan. She would keep attacking Trump and his supporters as dangerous and deplorable in hopes that she could scare her way into the White House. With Obama playing the race card to help her with black voters, Clinton would wrap her arms ever more tightly around the president and his policies between now and November.
Hillarity actually is selling B.O.'s product.
But terrorist bombings and stabbings are great disrupters, especially when they involve both New York and the heartland in a single weekend. The disruption becomes unbearable when the attacks allegedly are carried out by foreign-born Moslems who were welcomed here with open arms, then turned on their generous American hosts.
But really, it has nothing to do with religion. Ask any politician...
Events have a voice and a vote, and the terrorism in Minnesota, New Jersey and New York is scrambling the presidential campaign. It also revealed Mayor Putz to be a horse’s ass as he twisted himself into a pretzel to deny calling the Manhattan bomb a bomb and terrorism terrorism. New Yorkers know that when a bomb goes off on a public street and another one is disarmed nearby, it’s terrorism, stupid.
If you don't say the Thing's name it's not really the Thing.
While the scramble for political safe spaces is still under way, the advantage so far clearly belongs to Trump. His gut instinct to call the Saturday bombings what they were, combined with his demand that refugees and immigrants colonists from countries with a history of terrorism be given tougher scrutiny, fit the nation’s mood and the facts.
Same idea: You don't say the Thing's name, it's not the Thing, so it can't be a Fact.
Is there any doubt he’s right when he says political correctness has handcuffed law enforcement and that more attacks are coming? Or that his backing by numerous law enforcement groups reciprocates his support for them? It is a potent message when Americans believe they are less safe than they were eight years ago.
Mainly beause we're not. This past weekend was just a part of the beginning -- it's gathering speed.
The result of the mayhem and Trump’s boldness is that Obama and Clinton are playing defense.
That's defense against Trump, not against Murderous Moslems...
The president hoped to avoid saying anything Monday, no doubt viewing the attacks as a distraction from the lofty thoughts he wants to express at the UN, but events forced him out of his hidey hole.
If you don't notice it, it didn't happen.
His press secretary inadvertently added to the pressure with one of the dumbest statements possible. Josh Earnest declared that America is in a "narrative battle" with the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, as though it’s a war of words.
It is, kinda. They holler "Death to the Infidels!" The Obamae holler "Don't listen to Trump!"
Right, we throw adjectives and they throw bombs.
B.O. did call them the JV team once. That's kinda like the Choom Gang of the Islamic world.
When Obama did speak, he was perfunctory, warning the media not to rush to judgment and refusing to call the bombings terrorism, though he did say the Minnesota stabbings were a "potential act of terror."
po·ten·tial adjective
1.having or showing the capacity to become or develop into something in the future.

"Potential"? The Somali-born attacker reportedly referenced Allah, and the Islamic State hailed him as one of its "soldiers." Of course, if he had used a gun, Obama would have lectured about gun control.
"Potential" means it hasn't happened yet. If you don't utter the Name, the Thing doesn't exist. Until you utter the Name the Thing remains Potential, unless you refuse to notice, in which case the Thing doesn't exist.
As it was, the president shifted into platitudes about the nation not being shaken, blah, blah, blah. It’s nice to say and think, but it’s simply not true.
If you utter the Name the Thing comes into existence. If you say "The Nation Remains Unshaken" then it becomes TRVTH whether the Nation is Shaken or not.
Where is my family, where are my friends -- that’s what every sensible person thinks when a bomb goes off or the shooting starts. Given the Islamic State’s barbarism and the damage that an inspired individual or small cell can inflict, fear is not just inevitable, it’s rational.
But you can't go blaming Moslems for what adherents to their religion do. You can't hate the Japanese for Pearl Harbor, or the Germans for the Lusitania or the Turks for the Gates of Vienna.
The country is shaken, afraid that terrorism is the new normal and that our politicianship is too timid to defeat it. Granted, it’s a difficult enemy, but hardly on the level of Nazi Germany or fascist Japan.
Right up there with both of them.
That fed-up mood is a burden for Clinton because she is so linked to Obama. Her apologists keep promising that her inner hawk will surface and she will move away from Obama on national security, but she either didn’t get the memo or can’t recall it.
When you're lucky enough to get old sometimes you're unlucky enough for your mind to go.
Instead, she camouflages her predicament by turning up the rhetoric on the risks of Trump, saying recently that the Islamic State prays, "Please, Allah, make Trump president." She went there again Monday, calling her opponent is "a recruiting sergeant for the terrorists."
Perhaps the Islamic State should be careful what they wish for.
It’s catnip for the left-wing media, but her own answer to the challenge falls far short. She demanded that Americans show "courage and vigilance," and not demonize Moslems. That’s all she’s got?
Be kind to our Fine-turbanned friends,
'Cause Abdul could be somebody's mother.
He lives in a Salafist swamp,
Where the rhetoric is always damp!
(doodly oot-doot-doo!)
In fact, that’s exactly what most Americans have been doing for 15 years, and because it’s not sufficient, they want the next president to get tougher on terrorism. Trump pledges he will, while Clinton sounds a wobbly, uncertain note. She’s the one who needs to show courage.

How Bad Off Is Oil-Rich Venezuela? It’s Buying U.S. Oil
EL FURRIAL, Venezuela — One oil rig was idle for weeks because a single piece of equipment was missing. Another was attacked by armed gangs who made off with all they could carry. Many oil workers say they are paid so little that they barely eat and have to keep watch over one another in case they faint while high up on the rigs.

Venezuela’s petroleum industry, whose vast revenues once fueled the country’s Socialist-inspired revolution, underwriting everything from housing to education, is spiraling into disarray.

To add insult to injury, the Venezuelan government has been forced to turn to its nemesis, the United States, for help.

Home Front: WoT
US: Accused bomber called terrorist by father in 2014
[AA.TR] The father of a suspected New York and New Jersey bomber identified his son as a terrorist threat to authorities two years ago, he said Tuesday.

Mohammad Rahami said he made the admission to the FBI in 2014 amid concerns Ahmad Khan Rahami stabbed his brother.

"Two years ago I go to the FBI because my son was doing really bad, OK?" he said. "But they check almost two months, they say, ’He’s OK, he’s clean, he’s not a terrorist.’ I say OK," he told news hounds outside his restaurant in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

"Now they say he is a terrorist. I say OK," he added.

The New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
reported that a notebook in the younger Rahami’s possession after a shootout with New Jersey police contained Death Eater writings, including one passage related to "killing the kuffar," an Arabic term for non-Moslems that translats as "unbeliever".

Rahami’s wife, Asia Bibi Rahami, and his mother reportedly left the U.S. days before the attacks were carried out, raising additional questions about the bombings in Chelsea and the Jersey shore.

His wife is said to be cooperating with authorities in the United Arab Emirates, CNN said, citing U.S. officials.

ABC News reported Rahami’s mother departed the U.S. for The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and has not yet returned.

Rahami also repeatedly traveled abroad to visit Afghanistan and Pakistain, according to reports.
The Waco Tribune adds:
During the inquiry, the father backed away from talk of terrorism and told investigators that he simply meant his son was hanging out with the wrong crowd, including gang members, and acting like a thug, the officials said.

In any case, the FBI checked its databases and other sources and closed the inquiry in a matter of weeks after seeing nothing tying Rahami to terrorism, three law enforcement officials said.

The information emerged as the younger Rahami, 28, was being held on $5.2 million bail, charged with the attempted murder of police officers during the shootout that led to his capture Monday outside a bar in Linden, New Jersey. Federal prosecutors said they were still drawing up charges over the weekend bombings in New York City and a New Jersey seaside town that wounded 29 people.

“The Islamic State’s military leadership has publicly beheaded 12 of its own militants for evacuating their posts at the battlefront in eastern Syria without permission,” media activist Abu Ibrahim al-Raqawi told ARA News in Raqqa.

“The militants were executed on Tuesday evening in front of hundreds of people in central Raqqa,” the source reported.

The ISIS-led Sharia Court also supported the execution, describing the militants as “traitors” who refused to “serve the Caliphate”.

The extremist group has earlier executed dozens of its own militants on charges of ‘high treason’ for escaping the battlefield in Syria and Iraq.

3 kidz die in land mine attack in Manbij
2 video reports at the link
[ARA News] MANBIJ – At least three children lost their lives and several others were seriously injured on Tuesday after a landmine planted by ISIS militants exploded in the recently liberated Syrian border city of Manbij.

“A landmine, that had been planted by ISIS terrorists in the Seif Al-Dawla primary school in Manbij, exploded on Tuesday, causing casualties among the children,” Musa Hamdan, a teacher at the targeted school, told ARA News.

“The explosion killed three children, identified as Imad al-Haddouh, Mustafa Ali al-Huran and Othman Nassan,” local media activist Hassan Ibrahim told ARA News. “Also, 14 others were injured and subsequently transferred to the Manbij Hospital for treatment. Some of them are in critical condition.”

The school was evacuated subsequent to the incident. “The school will remain closed until we make sure that it’s completely cleared of ISIS explosives, in order to maintain the safety of the students and the staff,” Hamdan said.

The city of Manbij was liberated by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in mid-August, after over two years of ISIS occupation.

Unexploded devices pose a daily threat to civilians in the cities and towns liberated for ISIS.

Similar cases were reported in Kobane and Hasakah, where dozens of civilians died in explosion of landmines planted by ISIS extremists before losing those areas to the Kurdish YPG forces and allied SDF troops.

Speaking to ARA News, Abdulrahman Hemo, head of the reconstruction board of Kobane, said that the explosives continue to threaten civilian lives. “Until now, 50 per cent of the civilian death toll in Kobane was caused by explosives in the ground,” he said.

“This explosive pollution will make it impossible for people to reconstruct their lives, and blocks access to several areas. It also prevents humanitarian organizations from operating safely and providing the necessary support to this vulnerable population,” said Frédéric Maio, Handicap International’s Mine Action Program Development Manager in a public statement.

“ISIS militants are experts in the use of mines,” German fighter of YPG Heval Cihan told ARA News, suggesting that ISIS is using traps and decoys, which had killed one of the YPG’s mine experts in Ayn al-Issa town.

“After the liberation of Kobane, most martyrs were not killed by attacks, but by mines,” he said.

ISIS leader deserts in Mosul
Avoided the meet and greet with 12 of his comrades in Raqqa, it would appear
[ARA News] DUHOK – Abu Iman al-Iraqi, a top jihadi leader and spokesman of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq’s northwestern Nineveh Governorate, has reportedly deserted the group’s ranks on Tuesday.

“Al-Iraqi has escaped with is family. His office and house in Mosul city of Nineveh Governorate were found empty on Tuesday, when the ISIS-led Hisba Police was searching for him after receiving information about his intention to leave,” media activist Abdullah al-Malla told ARA News in Mosul.

The ISIS leadership issued a statement, accusing al-Iraqi of treason and demanding its militants to look for him.

Abu Iman al-Iraqi was the second official spokesman for the Islamic State after Abu Muhammed al-Adnani, who was killed in an airstrike in Aleppo three weeks ago.

Last week, another ISIS official deserted the group’s ranks in northern Iraq. Mahmoud Muhammad Sulaiman, the chief of al-Hisba Police in Mosul and a close friend to the ISIS supreme leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, has reportedly escaped Mosul and the group was unable to pursue him.

The ISIS radical group has taken over Mosul city and other parts of Iraq in June of 2014. In late 2015, the group’s power started to decrease under heavy airstrikes by the US-led coalition and ground operations by the Kurdish Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army. Later on, a number of top jihadi leaders in the group’s ranks were killed, while others defected amid an internal conflict within ISIS over power and money distribution.

France arrests 8 over July truck attack that killed 86 in Nice
[IsraelTimes] Tunisian and French suspects all linked to Mohammed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, who plowed vehicle through crowds on Bastille Day

French authorities said Tuesday that there have been eight new arrests in connection with the Bastille Day truck attack in Nice that left 86 people dead -- 10 of them children and teenagers -- and 434 injured.

All eight suspects were nabbed
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
in the Alpes-Maritimes region in the southeastern corner of La Belle France that includes Nice.

The Gay Paree prosecutor’s office said the suspects detained Monday were French and Tunisian and had links to the attacker, Mohammed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, who plowed a 19-ton truck down Nice’s Promenade des Anglais and into a crowd assembled for a July 14 fireworks display.

The 31-year-old father of three was rubbed out by police after a firefight. French authorities said the terrorist became radicalized "very quickly," with some of his family and friends saying that he had smoked, drank and never gone to the mosque.

While he had a record of being a petty criminal, Lahouaiej-Bouhlel had not appeared on the radar of intelligence services for links to radical Islam.

At least five people already face preliminary terrorism charges in the attack, and are accused of helping Lahouaiej-Bouhlel obtain a pistol and providing other support. It was not immediately clear what role is suspected for the men arrested this week.
An Nahar adds:
"They are all men, of French and Tunisian nationality," an investigation source said.

The men were placed in durance vile
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
in Nice and in the neighboring towns of Saint-Laurent-du-Var and Cagnes-sur-Mer.

Six people have already been charged over the attack.

Africa Subsaharan
Boko Haram atrocities haunt Cameroon's displaced
[ENCA] KOZA - "Boko Haram

butchered nine people in front of me. That day I decided to leave my village," says Rachel Daviguidam, still devastated by the carnage she witnessed in September 2015.

One year on and this 30-year-old Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
ian is still unable to get the images out of her mind.

And this mother of seven cannot see herself returning to her village of Golvadi in Cameroon's Far North, an area that has suffered multiple attacks by Boko Haram jihadists based just across the border in Nigeria.

Over the past year, Daviguidam and her husband and children have been living in Koza, a small town surrounded by mountains about 100 kilometres from Maroua, capital of the Far North region.

About 200,000 Cameroonians from the region have fled their villages in fear of the violence carried out by Death Eaters from Boko Haram, who last year pledged allegiance to the Islamic State

group.

Jihadists in this region kill, they torch entire villages, they loot and they steal livestock.

Sitting on the ground in Koza's stadium, Daviguidam cradles her youngest child, who is just three months old, occasionally breastfeeding him.

Around her sit other displaced families.

Nearby, hundreds of people are waiting in line to receive food handouts from the International Committee of the Red Thingy (ICRC).

Over the past 15 months, the ICRC has organised food deliveries in Koza in a bid to combat malnutrition, says Ibrahim Dit Falke, a local who works for the organization.

"Each household receives a package of 50 kilos of rice, 25 kilos of maize flour, 25 kilos of black-eyed peas, 10 litres of oil, a kilo of salt and 12 kilos of enriched flour," he says.

In this area where many of the displaced have gathered there have been numerous cases of malnutrition, some of them severe.

"We are in an area dominated by farming and agriculture, where most households make their living through agriculture," Dit Falke says.

"When you cut a household off from its fields, you cut it off from its livelihood."

India-Pakistan
Responding to a dangerous time
[DAWN] Pakistain is facing an exceptionally dangerous challenge with aggressive rhetoric and threats from India and Afghanistan and hostile narratives gaining resonance in Washington.

Failing to suppress the sustained uprising in India-held Kashmire, the Modi government has intensified its smear campaign against Pakistain in yet another attempt to portray the Kashmiri protest as Pakistain-inspired terrorism.

Following the attack on the Uri Indian army camp, India may heat up the Line of Control (LoC) to detract attention from its atrocities in the Valley. Pakistain should even be ready for worse.

Nigeria: Boko Haram Behead Village Chief, Son
[All Africa] Members of the Boko Haram

, in the early hours of Monday, crept upon sleeping villagers of Talari where they slit the throats of the village head and his son, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.

The attackers also rubbed out two other villagers as they were trying to escape.

An official of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in Borno state, Abbas Gava, confirmed the incident to journalists on phone.

"The gunnies invaded the village in the early hours of Monday and they stormed the home of the village head, Ba' Lawan, where they slaughtered him and his son", he said.

"After killing the village head and his son, they burnt his home down and as the villagers began to run for their lives, the gunnies opened fire on them killing two persons, while many of them escaped with injuries".

Mr. Gava said Talari, an agrarian community in Damboa Local government, is located between Kilakia Village and Chibok.

Boko Haram Death Eaters have recently increased hostilities against villagers in remote communities especially around Damboa and Chibok local government areas of Borno State, which share boundaries with Sambisa forest.

Many of such attacks are unreported due to the remote and isolated nature of the communities, which are usually not protected by security operatives.

Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed

The terror group recently released a video in which they boasted about their large numbers and threatened to carry out more attacks on Nigerians including President Muhammadu Buhari.

Though the Nigeria military described the video as adulterated, the group has since then carried out fresh attacks in Borno State.

Nigeria's information Minister, Lai Mohmammed, recently announced that the Federal Government was willing to do a prisoner swap with the sect to free the kidnapped Chibok girls. He explained how a previously planned swap went wrong based on more demands by the Boko Haram.

I wonder if the eye movements are the result of some drug side effects or brain damage from earlier strokes or a tumor? Maybe she has saccadic eyemovement disorder; a symptom of a psychiatric disorder. Saccadic eye movement applications for psychiatric disorders. Saccadic eye movement appears to be heavily involved in psychiatric diseases covered in this review via a direct mechanism. The changes seen in the execution of eye movement tasks in patients with psychopathologies of various studies confirm that eye movement is associated with the cognitive and motor system.

Election report from my area of Tennessee - Hillary has much less support than Obama did...over the weekend I canvased a large section of our area and observed only one 4x4 Hillary sign on an empty lot. In the spring there were several Bernie signs around the local college...when they came down...they were not replaced by Clinton signs. Tennessee will likely go 70-30 for Trump - a huge margin. I was not a Trump fan - voted elsewhere during the primary - but, will enthusiastically support Trump vice Clinton.

#14  I think the unexpected cancellation of the fundraiser in NC and the absence from events the rest of this week reflects a decision to rest her for the Monday debate. She needs a lot of rest, and medical fortification for the event, especially since she is very prone to folding under actual confrontation either through leaving, or through anger. Since neither of those are possible, I wonder how narcotized she will look for the debate, how effective her reasoning and speech patterns will be if she is, and how much pancake makeup can be put on even with the trowel they use on her now. Look for the botox needle marks unless I miss my guess and hope someone does a comparative image analysis right after the debate to see how less wrinkled the beast is.....

BLM riots after black cop working for black police chief kills black gun-guy
[FoxNews] Charlotte police warned 43-year-old Keith Lamont Scott again and again to drop his handgun before an officer shot and killed him, the police chief announced Wednesday morning, after riots damaged patrol cars and injured at least 16 officers, one of whom was hit in the face with a rock.

Police Chief Kerr Putney said during a news conference that officers were searching for a suspect Tuesday when they saw Scott exit a vehicle with a handgun at an apartment complex on the city's northeast side. "The officers gave loud, clear verbal commands which were also heard by many of the witnesses. They were instructing the subject, once he got out of the vehicle, to drop the weapon... Mr. Scott exited his vehicle armed with a handgun as the officers continued to yell at him to drop it."

Hillary’s ‘deplorable’ Americans -- you talkin’ to me?
[ISRAELNATIONALNEWS] If you missed me at Barbra Streisand’s NY soiree to raise money for Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as For a good time at 3 a.m. call Hillary and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Edward Stettinius, Jr. ...
, well, I wasn’t invited. I never am. For this one especially I was snubbed because I happen to be among the "basket of deplorables" that Hillary mentioned when it was her turn to speak to a roomful of progressive sharpies.

I am not rich. I am not famous. No luck. No chance.

I am guessing that you were also skipped over since, according to Hillary, half of Trump’s supporters are deplorable ‐ and that amounts to millions of us across the country that don’t sing for a living, as Streisand does. She sang, "Send in the Clowns," which was meant to be a gag on Trump and a dig on you and me.

They laughed and a good time was had by all.

A couple of days later Hillary fainted and had to be dragged into her limo.

Since then she’s been recovering. But the rest of the country has still not recovered from her accusation that we, the common folk, the deplorables, are racist, homophobic, sexist, xenophobic and Islamophobic. That’s me all right. I will tell you why in a minute after I remind y’all that the attendees were the high and the mighty and to borrow a term, deplorably Liberal.

This means that they are ever mindful of being superior. Only they wear designer jeans and fly in and out by gas-guzzling private jet.

That must have been some price of admission to hear Hillary speak and Babs sing. The event was staged for moneybags only, not for the off-the-rack set.

Yes, finally, Greed is Good ‐ if you are a Liberal. For Conservatives, wealth is forbidden.

Since I wasn’t there, I can’t say what the ladies were wearing, but I assume it wasn’t the burka, or the burkini that’s been making the headlines.

So here’s a headline that turns people like me into all of the above, islamophobic and all the rest ‐ Obama is bringing in more than 100,000 refugees from Syria. Recall that for about a year the talk was about 10,000 and people thought that was too much.

We do not know what else he has in store now that his time in the White House is running out, but bringing in 100,000 new Democrats appears to be his next trick. Even members of his own administration admit that those multitudes may be stacked with ISIS.

That does not seem to trouble Liberals. As one of them said on CNN, "It’s all about winning and whatever it takes to win."

Also, whatever it takes to change our culture from Judeo-Christian to something resembling Merkel’s Germany.

So we could be talking about a million more migrants colonists from New York to LA by the time Obama leaves office, ready, set, go for Hillary.

We can’t be sure about these people bringing with them the disease of ISIS, but the disease of anti-Semitism, that’s for sure. This means that the BDS storm troopers bullying Jewish kids on campus will be joined by reinforcements. There is so doubt about this at all.

Now Barbra -- have you ever heard her sing Avinu Malkeinu? Even Hatikvah? Beautiful. Such naches.

Well that was before that particular synagogue, where the people kvelled, was turned into a mosque.

At this rate, like it or not, Streisand will start singing a different tune. Does she know the lyrics for Allahu Akbar?

Modi wants evidence to isolate Pakistan
[DAWN] NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a high-level security meeting here on Monday at which he asked for concrete evidence to be gathered in the aftermath of the attack on an Indian army camp in Uri, and local reports said the thrust was to diplomatically isolate Pakistain.

Reports quoted unnamed sources as saying Mr Modi chaired the meeting with the highest ranking security personnel, including the army chief, but opted against any knee-jerk reaction to the murderous assault that left 18 soldiers killed and several injured in Uri on Sunday.

Reports said Delhi wants "clear evidence of Pakistain’s complicity" to be presented to all major global fora, including the upcoming UN General Assembly.

The meeting was attended by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Army Chief Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag and other bigwigs in the PMO, Defence Ministry and the Home Ministry.

"The meeting is believed to have also considered several other options," IANS agency quoted the sources as saying. It added that these were likely to be measured and well thought-out.

At the meeting, the prime minister was also briefed about the use of "incendiary" ammunition by the terrorists, though such ammunition can be found only with army establishments. The use of the specific ammunition is believed to have weighed in with the Indian analysts to link the attack with the Pakistain army, reports said.

Other reports said that the extended use of curfew in the Valley had impacted adversely in the human intelligence gathering, which may have contributed to the unanticipated disaster. The Telegraph of Kolkata reported recently, however, that the United States was worried such an attack might occur in the race by the two countries to show each other down on the international circuit.

At Monday’s meeting, reports said, Mr Modi "asked the security and other investigative agencies to collect all evidence that points to Pak involvement in the attack for presentation at international fora".

They quoted the sources as saying that the broad thinking was that India must act without getting into the trap of emotions and anger after taking into account both the short- and long-term implications.

Speaking to news hounds separately, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said India was not concerned about Pak denials and reactions and would react appropriately and at its own pace.

"Everything is in front of the people. We must not give much attention to Pakistain’s reaction. We will take our steps carefully," Mr Rijiju said.

Two Aurora cousins to be sentenced in terror plot on Joliet armory
A year and a half after his arrest in an Islamic State-inspired plot to attack a Joliet armory, former Illinois National Guard member Hasan Edmonds says he's a changed man.

In a letter last month to the federal judge who is to sentence him Tuesday, Edmonds said he's "reflected much and learned a great deal" about himself since his arrest. He realizes now he was "led astray by the hateful rhetoric" of ISIS.

"My involvement in this debacle is a mixture of confusion, guilt, anger, idealism and naivete," wrote Edmonds, who along with his cousin, Jonas Edmonds, pleaded guilty earlier this year to conspiring to and attempting to provide material support and resources to a terrorist group. "In hindsight, it appears I have jeopardized my life and my freedom for what was tantamount to a fool's errand."

Regional tensions
[DAWN] IT is sensible advice at a time when common sense is in short supply in many parts of the region. Three former foreign secretaries and a former national security adviser have jointly framed a foreign policy and national security road map that ought to put this country and the region itself on a path towards stability and security. Their advice, as published in this newspaper yesterday: Pakistain must, for its own sake and for the sake of the region, act to end the international perception that it shields the Afghan Taliban and anti-India Lions of Islam on its soil. Clearly, there is no panacea to the region’s security troubles, no single action that can cure its ills. Just as clearly, much will depend on sensible policies being adopted by Afghanistan and India, not least their penchant for externalising blame for many problems of their own making. Yet, Pakistain’s distancing itself from all non-state actors and gunnies -- a comprehensive, obvious and irreversible distancing -- is a sine qua non for domestic and regional stability.

"We must reflect why is it that Pakistain has ended up always siding with the most regressive elements in Afghanistan, some of whom we falsely regarded as assets, why most educated Afghans have become alienated from us and why we allowed our policy to fall in the insidious Afghan ethnic divide," the former foreign secretaries and national security adviser have written. In recent times, even asking the right question tends to attract criticism from certain nationalistic quarters of seditious intent and aiding the perceived enemy. The US and Afghanistan have erred in many areas and in many of their policies over the last decade and a half and, most egregiously from a Pak perspective, have often blamed Pakistain for their own failings in Afghanistan. Yet, what did not make sense in the 1990s cannot be good policy today; policymakers here have helped to craft an environment in Afghanistan where radical Islamists among that country’s Pakhtuns are the only semi-allies that this country has. What future for Afghanistan can that possibly envisage that will redound to Pakistain’s interest?

On India, the equation can appear murky because of a bellicose government in New Delhi. But the terrorism problem between India and Pakistain existed long before Narendra Modi became prime minister. More to the point, Islamabad’s sensible and rightful diplomatic position on the Kashmire dispute has been internationally diminished by the perception that Pakistain nurtures anti-India Lions of Islam on its soil. Where, after all, is the promised action against those involved in 2008 Mumbai attacks? Contrast also the negligible attention that India’s recent atrocities in held Kashmire have received internationally versus the grim coverage of the Uri attack. If India will not budge and the world will not listen, how does it help Pakistain to give them reason for continuing to do so?

#2  And this is the end point question and answer of Islam: No one gets in or out alive.

So it is stupid.

#3  Blood in, blood out. Gang mentality with religious underpinnings.

The rest of us get out of a religion if we don't like it, we change churches or we don't practice at all. We don't try to kill everyone who doesn't believe as we do.

#4  author of this seems unfamiliar with Islamic scripture, hadith and sunna so the answers to his questions disturbed him

a lot of muslims are like him - they haven't read their scripture or if they did, they didn't understand it (quite possible as it is a struggle to read)

#7  Seems too pat. Saying exactly what we'd want to hear.

My local paper carries articles on Saturday about "interfaith" activities where the involved parties are quoted about how much it helps "understanding" each other.

Fuck that. I already *understand* Islam, and its adherents. The "extremists" are plotting to kill us. The "moderates" are rooting for the "extremists" to kill us sooner rather than later.

I abhor their presence in our country. When I see some once-was-a-woman wrapped in a head-to-toe bag it takes every ounce of my self control not say as I pass "Get the hell out of my country."

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Angelina Jolie files for divorce from Brad Pitt
[NYDAILYNEWS] One of Hollywood’s most illustrious marriages didn’t go according to script.

Actress Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from husband Brad Pitt on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences, TMZ reports.

The 41-year-old was reportedly very displeased with how Pitt was raising their six children together, which was the lone reason she wanted to split.

In the court filing, Jolie asked physical custody of all six kids while requesting the judge give Pitt visitation rights, according to the report.

She reportedly did not request spousal support.

#1  I'm not usually in favor of government spending, but in the case of these 2, I'm willing to make an exception.

Can we please ask what amount it would take to convince both of them to go away and never appear again in any manner that would ever show up to the rest of the American public?

#2  I don't know about Brad, but Jolie seems to be a pretty good sort of person.

#3  She indicated she was concerned for the kids and didn't want his money. That might tell you a lot about Jolie. Very sad for everyone.

#5  IIRC ms.Jolie didn't have concerns about diddling around when mr.Pitt was married to spousal unit number one. Jennifer Aniston to the courtesy phone, "Revenge is a dish best served cold"

#6  Pitt apparently smokes pot constantly and is drunk a lot, too.

Understand why she doesn't want him around the kids.

#7  Voight is a stand up guy. Lot's of kids involved here and that is sad--most likely they will be taken care of financially.

Apart from all this, I often wonder why Hollywood has become the arbiter of morality, politics and all other cultural things--sort of a fox in the henhouse arrangement.

#10  And why am I supposed to care, exactly?

My point exactly. These self-absorbed douches would appear anywhere for Hillary if they were asked. That alone qualifies them as belonging to the other side. Good riddance to them both.
