Republicans and the Lost Art of Deterrence
h/t Instapundit
In a perfect and disinterested world, when Washington, D.C. is deluged in scandal, a nonpartisan investigator or prosecutor should survey the contemporary rotten landscape. He would then distinguish the likely guilty from the probably falsely accused--regardless of the political consequences at stake.

In the real cosmos of Washington, however, the majority party--the group that controls the House, Senate, presidency, and U.S. Supreme Court--if it were necessary, would de facto appoint the government’s own special investigatory team, and then allow it to follow where leads dictate. Its majority status would assure that there were no political opponents in control of the investigations, keen on turning an inquiry into a political circus. That cynical reality is known as normal D.C. politics.

But in contemporary Republican La-La Land, the party in power with control over all three branches of government allows its minority-status opponents to dictate the rules of special investigations and inquiry--a Jeff Sessions recused, a Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) excused from his investigations of unmasking and leaking, a Robert Mueller appointed as special counsel, friend of to-be-investigated James Comey, and employer of partisan attorneys.

Is naiveté the cause of such laxity? Do Republicans unilaterally follow Munich rules because they hope such protocols will create a new "civility" and "bipartisan cooperation" in Washington?

Angry Feminists Can't Figure Out Why Nobody Likes Feminists Anymore

Pentagon Should Declassify Report on Afghan Military Sex Abuse
h/t Instapundit
The U.S. government's Afghanistan watchdog has asked the Pentagon to declassify a report about alleged sexual abuse of children by members of the Afghan security forces.

...The classified report on sexual abuse, which SIGAR recently issued to Congress, deals with how the U.S. military and State Department are implementing laws that prohibit the government from providing aid to another nation's security forces if there is credible information that human rights have been violated.

..."At the request of a bipartisan, bicameral group of 93 members of Congress, SIGAR this quarter issued a report to Congress on DOD and State's implementation of the Leahy Laws in Afghanistan," says SIGAR's quarterly report. "Because DOD has classified much of the information on which the SIGAR report is based, the report is classified. SIGAR has requested that DOD declassify the report so that it can be released to the public."

...A Defense Department official said the report is undergoing a security review and the information may be declassified. The official could not say why the information was classified in the first place.

...And while the SIGAR report says that Afghanistan's domestic revenues are down nearly 25 percent over this time last year, the local narcotics trade is booming, now producing 80 percent of the world's opium. A UN opium-cultivation report cited by SIGAR found that the estimated value of opiates produced in Afghanistan nearly doubled last year, from $1.56 billion in 2015 to $3.02 billion in 2016. Despite the U.S. investment of $8.6 billion to counter Afghanistan's illegal drug economy, the report says figures for 2017 are expected to grow even more.

Australia Weather Bureau Caught Tampering With Climate Numbers
[DailyCaller] Australian scientists at the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) ordered a review of temperature recording instruments after the government agency was caught tampering with temperature logs in several locations.
Wonder how many of their employees are Soros funded...
Agency officials admit that the problem with instruments recording low temperatures likely happened in several locations throughout Australia, but they refuse to admit to manipulating temperature readings. The BOM located missing logs in Goulburn and the Snow Mountains, both of which are in New South Wales.

Meteorologist Lance Pidgeon watched the 13 degrees Fahrenheit Goulburn recording from July 2 disappear from the bureau's website. The temperature readings fluctuated briefly and then disappeared from the government's website.
The readings were incorrect according to the dogma, therefore they must be purged.
MMGW is little more than a cult.

"The temperature dropped to minus 10 (13 degrees Fahrenheit), stayed there for some time and then it changed to minus 10.4 (14 degrees Fahrenheit) and then it disappeared," Pidgeon said, adding that he notified scientist Jennifer Marohasy about the problem, who then brought the readings to the attention of the bureau.

The bureau would later restore the original 13 degrees Fahrenheit reading after a brief question and answer session with Marohasy.

"The bureau's quality control system, designed to filter out spurious low or high values was set at minus 10 minimum for Goulburn which is why the record automatically adjusted," a bureau spokeswoman told reporters Monday. BOM added that there are limits placed on how low temperatures could go in some very cold areas of the country.

Bureaus Chief Executive Andrew Johnson told Australian Environment Minister Josh Frydenberg that the failure to record the low temperatures at Goulburn in early July was due to faulty equipment. A similar failure wiped out a reading of 13 degrees Fahrenheit at Thredbo Top on July 16, even though temperatures at that station have been recorded as low as 5.54 degrees Fahrenheit.

Failure to observe the low temperatures had "been interpreted by a member of the community in such a way as to imply the bureau sought to manipulate the data record," Johnson said, according to The Australian. "I categorically reject this implication."
Of course you do. Your job and power are on the line.
Marohasy, for her part, told reporters that Johnson's claims are nearly impossible to believe given that there are screen shots that show the very low temperatures before being "quality assured" out. It could take several weeks before the equipment is eventually tested, reviewed and ready for service, Johnson said.

"I have taken steps to ensure that the hardware at this location is replaced immediately," he added. "To ensure that I have full assurance on these matters, I have actioned an internal review of our AWS network and associated data quality control processes for temperature observations."

BOM has been put under the microscope before for similar manipulations. The agency was accused in 2014 of tampering with the country's temperature record to make it appear as if temperatures had warmed over the decades, according to reports in August 2014.

Marohasey claimed at the time that BOM's adjusted temperature records are "propaganda" and not science. She analyzed raw temperature data from places across Australia, compared them to BOM data, and found the agency's data created an artificial warming trend.

Marohasey said BOM adjustments changed Aussie temperature records from a slight cooling trend to one of "dramatic warming" over the past century.
It is all a con. World wide con. Everyone involved need to be shot. The damage to the economies and people these fraudsters have caused is devastating.

The Wages of 'Collusion' Meme is Big Trouble
...As Clarice Feldman notes, the entire Democrat/Compromised Media fantasy over Russian "collusion" during the 2016 election has now collapsed, but the damage the Left has done to our nation purely out of pique over its loss last fall is becoming incalculable. Using their standard technique of "raising questions," they began a Narrative that has led to a falling-dominoes series of calamities that now threaten not only the Trump presidency, but also the very legitimacy of our form of government.

...The truth is, we've never witnessed anything like this before -- not, at least, since 1861. Back then, the Democrats made the fatal error of actually firing on Fort Sumter and waging a prolonged rebellion against the federal government under the first Republican president, Abraham Lincoln -- whom they later assassinated. That conflict resulted, thanks to Grant and Sherman, in the devastation of the South, and a century of poverty, backwardness and resentment. Eventually, the Democrats seized the civil rights movement as their redemptive vehicle, and somehow managed the trick (via the media) of convincing the rest of the country that they were never the racist, seditious, literally anti-American sappers they so obviously were, and still are.

Today, they wouldn't make the mistake of going to actual war against the country-as-founded. Just as they refused to accept Lincoln as the lawfully elected president, so do they refuse to accept Trump; if Lincoln was the first of his party to reach the White House, they mean to make sure Trump is the last. To use a favorite phrase of theirs: "by any means necessary." That's because the Democrat/Compromised Media Complex plays for keeps. And we don't.

Meanwhile, any hope of detente and strategic cooperation with Russia slips away -- thanks to the Democrats, who since Lenin have never met a Russian they didn't love. The sanctions, which only Bernie Sanders and Rand Paul voted against, also include a possibly unconstitutional provision to tie the president's conduct of foreign policy in the future, by making it impossible for Trump to lift them without congressional approval. Trump has said he will sign the bill, but let's see how long that provision lasts in court.

...And all this -- all of it -- because the Democrats cannot accept the results of the election. Now, however, they have the feeble-minded and weak-spined Republicans and impotent "conservative" Vichycons joining in the stampede; note in the CNN clip linked just above, host Anderson Cooper attributes the sanctions not to "corruption," et al., but to Russia's "interference in the election, among other issues." The case may have factually cratered, but the meme itself will not die until it's fully exhausted for propaganda purposes.

They never stop, they never sleep, they never quit. It's long past time to start fighting back -- not necessarily to defend Trump the man (for the Democrats and the Compromised Media, there'll be a distracting "scandal" a day, forever) but to defend Trump the president, his office, the validity of our electoral system, and the proper workings of the federal government in its task to uphold the Constitution and defend the nation from all threats, foreign and domestic.
IMO: (i) It is not just Democrats - it's the New Class; (ii) It has already passed the stage of "ours, give it back!" and rapidly reaching the stage of "If we can't have it, nobody shall have it!"

Drudge on John McCain
h/t Instapundit
In a tweet that quickly amassed 5,500 or so likes, and near 2,800 retweets, Drudge simply wrote: "Corruption has so many faces ..."

The message was atop a photo of a McCain campaign photo that included the senator’s face and this text: "John McCain: Leading the fight to stop Obamacare."

Right. A picture says 1,000 words
.
But in this case, one suffices. And Drudge nailed it: Corruption.

McCain, pure and simple, screwed Republicans, conservatives and President Donald Trump on Obamacare repeal. And he did it simply because he could.

#4  # 2 a favorite of mine. Peck did a great performance in the movie. The men responded knowing full well they would follow him to their deaths. The book was just as good in my opinion which is a rare thing to do in a movie. I see many great qualities in Trump demonstrating such a command of leadership. Forgoing his salary. Dealing with a false media steady on course unwavering in his purpose. Many cannot see what events he produces. They flounder in his wake. The forces arrayed against him may be great but he steers headlong steady on course to make America Great. Much like the founding of our country. This is history in the making.

#8  What do you expect from one of the Keating 5?

Wikipedia on Keating 5
The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The five senators – Alan Cranston (Democrat of California), Dennis DeConcini (Democrat of Arizona), John Glenn (Democrat of Ohio), John McCain (Republican of Arizona), and Donald W. Riegle, Jr. (Democrat of Michigan) – were accused of improperly intervening in 1987 on behalf of Charles H. Keating, Jr., Chairman of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which was the target of a regulatory investigation by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB). The FHLBB subsequently backed off taking action against Lincoln.

Lincoln Savings and Loan collapsed in 1989, at a cost of over $3 billion to the federal government (taxpayers). Some 23,000 Lincoln bondholders were defrauded and many investors lost their life savings. The substantial political contributions Keating had made to each of the senators, totaling $1.3 million, attracted considerable public and media attention. After a lengthy investigation, the Senate Ethics Committee determined in 1991 that Cranston, DeConcini, and Riegle had substantially and improperly interfered with the FHLBB's investigation of Lincoln Savings, with Cranston receiving a formal reprimand. Senators Glenn and McCain were cleared of having acted improperly but were criticized for having exercised "poor judgment".

All five senators served out their terms. Only Glenn and McCain ran for re-election, and they both retained their seats. McCain would go on to run for President of the United States twice, and was the Republican Party nominee in 2008. As of 2017, he is still a senator.

#9  The honorable and patriotic John McCain is neither. The fact that he is not honorable first became apparent with the Keating Five.

That he is not patriotic did not dawn on me until he dropped the Peegate document with the FBI in a deliberate attempt to undermine POTUS and the people who voted for him.

#10  Ladies and Gentlemen: John McCain the man is a problem that time and loathsome disease have already solved for us.

The problem that still needs to be addressed is twofold:

1. How did this wretch become our presidential nominee?

2. How did he continue to be reelected as a Republican?

I suggest that any progress whatsoever on these two issues would net a huge gain for the party and for the country.

[IsraelTimes] Source says Jordan published Ziv Moyal’s identity, photo, in an attempt to ’radicalize’ the situation, amid diplomatic dispute over shooting death of two at embassy compound.

The family of the Israeli security guard who killed two Jordanian nationals at the Israeli Embassy compound in Amman last week have reportedly fled their home after publication of his name on Sunday.

Ziv Moyal’s family left their home in the south of Israel and moved in with relatives out of fear for their safety, after Jordanian media published a photo of Moyal’s diplomatic ID card, with his picture and name, according to Channel 10.

Officials confirmed that Moyal, 28, was the guard who shot and killed the Jordanians while being attacked by one of them with a screwdriver.

His family insisted that "he acted solely according to standard procedure."

The incident last week has threatened a major diplomatic rift between Israel and Jordan, one of its few allies in the region, after Moyal was returned to Israel, along with the rest of Israel’s diplomatic staff in Amman.

Jordan reacted furiously to the guard being welcomed back as a hero in Israel, and demanded that he be investigated and tried.

A political source told Walla news that the leak of Moyal’s identity to a Jordanian newspaper showed that the Jordanians "were trying to radicalize the situation," to "force a reality on us, and to punish Ziv."

Jordan’s King Abdullah II had strongly criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for warmly receiving Moyal at his office hours after he was brought back across the border following the diplomatic standoff.

Netanyahu’s office disseminated photos of him embracing Moyal. According to a statement, the prime minister told him: "You acted well, calmly and we also had an obligation to get you out."

Abdullah accused Netanyahu of trying to exploit the situation for political points, saying it would have repercussions on the countries’ ties.

On Friday the Israeli Foreign Ministry announced that a preliminary probe was launched into the July 23 attack.

The announcement came after Jordan announced that Israeli embassy staff, who came back to Israel on Monday following the violent incident, would not be allowed to return to Amman until an investigation was opened.

The two nations were already navigating tense relations surrounding violence at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, administered by a Jordanian-controlled trust.

Some details of the incident remain murky. On July 23, laborer Mohammed Jawawdeh, and others were installing a bedroom set at a residence used by the Israeli Embassy in Amman when an altercation ensued. Israeli officials said Jawawdeh attacked the guard with a screwdriver, lightly injuring him. The guard returned fire in "self-defense," and killed both Jawawdeh and a second man, building owner Bashar Hamarneh, who was there at the time.

A separate Jordanian probe found that Moyal and Jawawdeh got in an argument before the incident, signaling that it was a domestic dispute and not terror related.

On Thursday, Jordan reportedly charged Moyal with murder in absentia, amid calls by Jawawdeh’s family to give the guard the death penalty.

On Friday, hundreds of Jordanians held a protest near the Israeli embassy in Amman over the incident, calling on the government to shut it down and cancel the 1994 peace treaty with Israel.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement Friday that Israel was "launching a probe process into the incident, in accordance with the appropriate legal proceedings in such matters."

"The [Israeli] state prosecutor [Shai Nitzan], in coordination with the attorney general [Avichai Mandelblit], has instructed all the relevant bodies to submit all related materials they possess," read the statement.

"In the framework of Israel-Jordan relations, Israel will update Jordan on the developments and findings of the proceedings," the ministry said.

OTOH, since the Palestinians has shown that they are skilled in turning the land they're in into a copy of Mars, It may have been a good idea to let them take charge and starve to death. Only problem is that UN and others "activists" would feed them...

Video: IED Hits Venezuela Police Motorcycle Convoy
CARACUS, Venezuela (CBS) -- An explosion injured a group of police officers during a Sunday protest in Caracas.

The explosion left eight motorbikes smoldering on a main avenue as protesters blocked roads and clashed with security forces during a controversial election to elect a constitutional super-body that unpopular leftist President Nicolas Maduro vowed would begin a "new era of combat" in the crisis-stricken nation.

Maduro, widely disliked for overseeing an economic collapse during four years in office, has pressed ahead with the vote to create the all-powerful assembly despite the threat of further U.S. sanctions and months of opposition protests in which more than 115 people have been killed.

Opposition parties are boycotting what they call a rigged election. Their sympathizers erected barricades across roads around the South American country and scuffles broke out with security forces who moved in quickly to disperse hooded demonstrators.

Authorities confirmed three deaths over the weekend, including the killing of a candidate to the assembly during a robbery, although opposition lawmakers said the toll was much higher.

Polls show some 70 percent of Venezuelans oppose the vote which has been widely condemned internationally.

Yemeni Man Executed for Rape, Murder of 3-Year-Old
[An Nahar] Thousands of people gathered in the rebel-held Yemeni capital Monday to witness the public execution of a man convicted of raping and murdering a three-year-old girl.

Mohammed al-Moghrabi, 41, was sentenced to death for the June 25 rape and murder by a court run by the Shiite Houthis who control Sanaa.

The gruesome crime coincided with the first day of Eid al-Fitr, the Moslem holiday that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, and sparked anger among the population.

Moghrabi was first given 100 lashes and then made to lie flat, his face on the ground, and killed by multiple gunshots by security forces to cheers from the crowd.

Police said they escorted him to Tahrir square where he was executed amid fears the angry crowd could lynch him.

The public execution was widely aired on Huthi-run media in Yemen, framed as an example of the Iranian catspaws' efforts to combat crime in their areas.

All the attackers had been killed and the compound secured roughly four hours after the assault began, Afghanistan's interior ministry said, adding that all embassy staffers were safe and only one policeman maimed "slightly".

Earlier, black smoke billowed into the air above the neighbourhood in northwestern Kabul as the sound of gunfire, blasts and ambulance sirens could be heard. Panicked residents, including women and kiddies, could be seen fleeing the area.

The ministry said at least four snuffies had attacked the embassy, beginning with a suicide bomber who detonated his vest at the compound entrance.

Austria sentences Hamas man to life for terror plot in Israel
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian released in 2011 Shalit deal sought to enlist West Bank residents to carry out grenade attacks in Jerusalem

Austria sentenced a Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", operative to life in prison for enlisting Paleostinians in the West Bank to carry out terror attacks against Israeli targets.

The Paleostinian man, whose name is being held under gag order in Austria, was sentenced last week, Israel’s Justice Ministry said in a statement.

The Hamas operative was previously serving a life sentence in Israel, but was released to the Gazoo Strip in the 2011 prisoner exchange deal for IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. He later relocated to Austria.

In 2016, the Paleostinian man contacted two residents of the West Bank over the internet and enlisted them to carry out grenade attacks in Jerusalem and to assemble additional cell members.

The planned attacks were never carried out.

After learning of the Hamas member’s intentions, the Shin Bet security agency was able to track him to Austria. The agency also incarcerated

four Paleostinians suspected of involvement in the planned attacks, the Justice Ministry said.

Israel also transferred intelligence on the Hamas operative to Austrian authorities, leading to his arrest in Austria.

At Austria’s request, Israel also provided legal assistance in the case, including by allowing the Austrian judge to question the four West Bank residents suspected of involvement in the planned attacks by video conference.

More Mosul Moslem Mayhem

20 ISIS Bad Guys turn into a Red Mist near Syrian border

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi warplanes killed 20 Islamic State members near the borders with Syria, military media reported Monday, denying reports that the strikes targeted locations inside Syria.

The Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell said an airstrike was carried out at Tal Sufouq, a region at Nineveh’s borders with Syria, based on intelligence provided by the Popular Mobilization Forces.

The strike killed 20 militants and destroyed six vehicles, the statement said, denying reports that the strikes targeted locations inside Syria.

On Sunday, semi-official al-Sabah newspaper said Iraqi warplanes pounded IS locations in the Syrian city of Mayadin, Deiz Ezzour, before the group proceeded with plans to target holy Shia sites in the Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala, as well as the residence of the country’s top Shia cleric, Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani.

Iraqi forces regained control over the city of Mosul earlier this month, ending more than eight months of battles against the militants at their former capital. Coinciding with the campaign in Mosul, paramilitary troops, backed by warplanes, managed to take full control over the borderline with Syria and Jordan.

Islamic State now holds a few towns in Nineveh near the Syrian borders, most notably Tal Afar, which is widely reported to be the next target for military operations.

12 ISIS Bad Guys die in drone strike near Tal Afar

Tal Afar (IraqiNews.com) A drone guided by the U.S.-led coalition killed 12 Islamic State militants near the group’s last stronghold west of Nineveh, an air force officer said in a statement.

Maj. Abbas al-Khozami said in a press state, ent that the drone fired two rockets at an Islamic State residence in Alawliya, east of Tal Afar, the town held by militants since 2014.

Among those killed was Islamic State’s commando chief, Abdul-Aziz Abdul-Qader al-Jeheishi, Khozami said.

He said the air force continues to fly drones above the town to collect intelligence about the group’s locations and movements, noting that more air raids will be carried out in the area over the few next days.

The Iraqi government has recently set Tal Afar as the next target of oeprations against the Islamic State. So far, the town has been isolated from the Syrian borders and from Mosul by the pro-government Popular Mobilization.

Earlier on Monday, the media service of the Popular Mobilization said troops, backed by the Iraqi jets repelled an IS attack at the region between the borders and al-Hamdaniyah district, northeast of Nineveh province.

Ten militants were killed, while six vehicles of the group were burnt, the statement added.

Another statement by the Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell said an airstrike was carried out at Tal Sufouq, a region at Nineveh’s borders with Syria, killed 20 militants.

5 LNA soldiers die in clash in Derna
BENGHAZI, Libya: Rebels on Sunday killed five members of a force led by military strongman Khalifa Haftar in the country’s east, sources said.

“Terrorist groups attacked at dawn Sunday three sites under the control” of Haftar’s forces south of the eastern city of Derna, they said.

Four of Haftar’s forces were also wounded, it added.

Derna was known for being a bastion for rebels even before the 2011 uprising that toppled and killed former ruler Muammar Qaddafi.

Haftar’s forces are waging a campaign against rebel and terrorist groups, including efforts to capture the eastern city from the “Revolutionary Shoura Council of Derna,” a coalition of militias close to Al-Qaeda.

On Saturday, a pro-Haftar fighter died as he took part in a mission to try and rescue a pilot whose plane had crashed in the same area.

The pilot who died in the crash, had been carrying out a raid against rebel positions when his fighter jet was hit by a missile, the news agency said.

Haftar’s forces have lost several aircraft in recent months.

The strongman supports an administration based in the country’s east that has refused to recognize the UN-backed Government of National Accord based in Tripoli.

Top committee votes in favor of constitutional draft

A committee tasked with writing a constitution for Libya voted on Saturday in favor of a draft, paving the way for Parliament to approve a referendum and causing uproar among opponents.

Critics, including secessionists and people in favor of the country’s 1951 constitution, called for a redo of Saturday’s vote.

Protesters broke into the committee’s building in the eastern town of Bayda, according to two committee members, who said they called on the committee to reconvene Sunday. It was not immediately clear whether the committee met again.

Committee members opposing the decision issued a signed statement saying that voters failed to consider amendments proposed by opponents to articles in the draft.

Amraja Noah, a committee member from the eastern city of Tobruk, said protesters stormed the building to stop the session, forcing the members to rush the vote.

He said 44 members attended the session and 42 voted in favor of passing the draft.

ISIS Top Kop dies in airstrike in Kirkuk
Hawija (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State’s police chief was killed, while five others were injured in an airstrike, southwest of Kirkuk, a local source from the province was quoted saying.

“IS leader in charge of the so-called Islamic police in Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk, was killed along with one of his companions, while five others were wounded as an airstrike targeted a group’s rest house at the outskirts of the town,” the source told AlSumaria News on Monday.

The source, who preferred anonymity, added that the killed member was from the group’s second-line leaders in Kirkuk.

On Sunday, nine IS militants were killed as U.S.-led coalition jets targeted IS locations in al-Rashad, al-Riyadh and Hawija, southwestern Kirkuk.

Hawija, located west of Kirkuk, have been held by IS since mid-2014, when the group emerged to proclaim an Islamic “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria. The group executed dozens of civilians and security members there, forcing thousands to flee homes.

Security officials say tens of IS families in the group’s so-called Diyala State headed to Hawija after losing the cities they controlled after June 2014.

There has been pressure on Iraqi government to hasten with invading Hawija, given the humanitarian crisis people were experiencing under the group’s rule. Further offensives are expected to be launched across Iraq.

Hamburg Killer Says He Wanted to be a Terrorist, But German Cops Insist He Was Mentally Ill
Why cannot both these things be true?
[Breitbart] The Suddeustche Zeitung reports that the 26-year-old killer, a Paleostinian migrant who was on the lam in the country despite a terror investigation, the rejection of his asylum claim, and an enthusiastic willingness to be returned to Gazoo, told the authorities "It is important to be a ’terrorist’."

Ahmad A -- whose real, full name has not been released due to German privacy laws -- is said to have been radicalised at an unruly migrant shelter which is known as a hotbed of Islamic extremism subject to mass raids by the authorities.

A friend described how the suspect "began to change" one month before the rampage, in which he killed one and injured six others while screaming "Allahu Akbar".

"He suddenly prayed loudly in the hallway and was very aggressive. He was shouting at people in English: ’The West is killing Moslems all over the world’," said Yassar al-Adaoui Mustafa.

City interior minister Andy Grote has previously offered an unusual justification for the reluctance to accept the attack was terrorism, saying the suspect was "known as an Islamist but not a jihadist".

The killer was even entered on a database of known murderous Moslems.

Authorities have similarly insisted that nightclub shooting in Constance, which left one dead in and three seriously injured, was not terror-related.

The gunman -- killed in a shoot-out with police in which an officer was also maimed -- was an Iraqi migrant with a record of violent crime and drug offences.

Witnesses describe him opening firing "indiscriminately" but police believe he intended a targeted Dire Revenge attack following an argument with staff.
Update from The Times of Israel at 9:30 p.m. EDT:
Germany’s migration office says officials missed a deadline two years ago to deport Ahmad A, who arrived from Norway in early 2015. The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees told news agency dpa Tuesday that, in July 2015, the agency asked Norway to take him back. But the request was made one day after a deadline expired and Norway refused.

The office said it had been dealing with a large volume of asylum-seekers at the time.

Algerian Army Kills Six Armed Islamists
[An Nahar] The Algerian army on Monday killed six armed Islamists during an ongoing security operation west of Algiers, the defense ministry said.

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered, it said.

The six suspects were killed in the Safsafa area near Tipaza, 70 kilometers (44 miles) west of Algiers, according to the ministry.

Algerians had hoped that a 2005 peace and reconciliation charter would turn the page on a 1991-2002 civil war that cost 200,000 lives.

But Islamist groups remain active in some areas, largely targeting security forces.

At least 71 armed Islamists have been killed by Algerian security forces this year, according to an AFP tally of official figures.

U.S. Slaps Sanctions on Maduro, Labels Him 'Dictator'
[An Nahar] The United States branded Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro a "dictator" threatening his country's democracy on Monday and imposed sanctions targeting any assets he might hold on US territory.

"Yesterday's illegitimate elections confirm that Maduro is a dictator who disregards the will of the Venezuelan people," U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a statement announcing the action.

"By sanctioning Maduro, the United States makes clear our opposition to the policies of his regime and our support for the people of Venezuela who seek to return their country to a full and prosperous democracy."

Sunday's vote in Venezuela to elect a Constituent Assembly that would supersede the country's opposition-controlled National Assembly earned international scorn, with the U.S. leading a group of nations refusing to recognize the election.

Washington has been a longstanding opponent of Maduro's government -- and of his late predecessor Hugo Chavez -- but Monday's statement marks the first time that a bigwig had publicly branded him a dictator.

The notification, a copy of which is available with DawnNews, reads that the Counter Terrorism Department has reported that "keeping in view the expected release of the said activist and other leaders of the said organization, workers of the organization have planned to spread chaos in the country."

The notification, signed by Punjab Additional Chief Secretary (Home) retired Major Azam SLearned Elders of Islamn, further reads that "on release, he (Saeed) is likely to glorify his activities for the said organization and continuation of his activities are likely to create unrest in public."

Other members of the JuD -- including Abdullah Ubaid, Abdul Rehman Abid, Zafar Iqbal and Qazi Kashif Niazi of Multan, who handles JuD’s publications -- were also taken into 'protective custody' in January.

The JuD and the Falah-e-Insaaniat Foundation (FIF), a charity organization affiliated with the JuD, had been included in the Second Schedule and were placed on the government’s watch list for six months under Section (1) 11EEE of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 in January. The names of several JuD leaders had also been placed on the Exit Control List.

Bangladesh
Four arrested after teenager’s rape in BD
[DAWN] Bangladesh police have tossed in the slammer
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
four men over the rape of a teenager whose head was shaved as punishment by the accused’s wife in a case that has shocked the conservative country, an official said on Sunday.

Police detained the four men including Tufan Sarker, a unionist linked to the ruling Awami League party, after pictures of the victim and her mother at hospital with shaved heads caused outrage.

A manhunt is still underway for Sarker’s wife Asha Khatun, who is accused of dragging the teenager and her mother to their home, beating them and forcibly shaving their heads.

Sarker, 25, has been charged with raping the 16-year-old at home on Friday, said local police front man Sonaton Chakroborty. "He threatened to kill her and her mother if she would dare to talk to anyone about the incident," he said.

Another officer told AFP that Sarker was a local leader of the labour wing of the Awami League, which has been ruling Bangladesh for most of the last decade.

Photos of the victim and her mother at hospital with their heads shaved spread quickly online, outraging Bangladeshis who urged police to take prompt action.

The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, said Sarker’s wife suspected she was in a relationship with her husband. "They shaved my entire head. I repeatedly apologised but they didn’t listen. They even beat my mother and shaved her head," she told a local news channel.

Police said they were also pursuing Sarker’s sister-in-law, a councillor in Bogra city, for allegedly abetting the assault by sending thugs to help beat the victims.

Imran Khan looks to become Pakistan’s PM after campaign to oust Sharif
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] As Pak cricket star-turned-politician Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who ain't the sharpest bulb on the national tree...
prepared for a victory rally to celebrate the success of his campaign to remove Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
from office, he said his aim was to take the job himself next year.

Khan wants to ride the momentum of his drive against Sharif to win the 2018 general election, more than 20 years after he entered politics.

"We will contest the elections and I'm confident we will win the elections," Khan, 64, told Rooters late on Saturday.

He dismissed his own pending Supreme Court case investigating unreported assets as a political vendetta and vowed his future government would focus not on big infrastructure projects but on development for the poor.

On Friday, the Supreme Court disqualified Sharif from office on the grounds he did not report a nominal monthly salary from his son's Dubai-based company, money the prime minister says he never received.

Khan spearheaded demands for an investigation on Sharif after the leaking of the Panama Papers, which revealed his family had bought expensive London apartments through offshore companies.

In the end, the Panama Papers-related allegations were not the basis for Sharif's dismissal, but Khan's threat to paralyze the capital with street protests last year led to the court investigation into the premier's finances.

Man sells small daughter to landlord after failing to repay loan
[DAWN] BADIN: A man handed over his eight-year-old daughter to an elderly landlord as a mortgage after failing to pay him back Rs100,000 loan in Tando Bago town, 21 kilometres from here, on Sunday.

The shameful deal came to light when Ms Soomri Machhi approached Tando Bago cop shoppe and complained that her husband Achar Machhi had sold off her daughter Nazia, 8, to an old landlord Ali Murad Chandio in Pathan Water village near the town.

Police raided the village to recover the girl and returned her to her mother who accused his husband of having sold the girl for Rs100,000.

Tando Bago SHO Ali Anwer Leghari confirmed the girl had been sold and said further investigation was under way.

Achar Machhi told journalists that he had handed over his daughter as mortgage after having failed to pay back the loan he had taken from the landlord.
Why are they fussing? He can always make another daughter, whether with this wife or a new one acquired for the purpose.

Police said they had raided a house in Shah Latif Town upon receiving a tip from an informant. Two men present in the house opened fire on the raiding party and were killed in retaliatory fire, police said.

Waiting for justice
[DAWN] While the country obsesses over the course of justice as it plays out at the highest levels, there is little capacity to consider how it is typically meted out in our country. Last week, while we awaited the Supreme Court verdict on the Panama case, reports emerged that a panchayat in Muzaffarabad, in the Multan area, ordered the rape of a 16-year-old girl to settle scores after her brother was accused of raping a 12-year-old girl. The teenager was raped allegedly before the 40-odd members of the panchayat and her parents. Several days passed before the girls’ mothers lodged FIRs, and the police began to arrest panchayat members.

Media coverage of this informal act of justice got the formal wheels of justice turning: the chief justice has taken suo motu
...a legal term, from the Latin. Roughly translated it means I saw what you did, you bastard...
notice of the panchayat ruling, Shahbaz Sharif

Saniora Meets Kuwait Envoy to Deplore 'Hizbullah Cell', Mashnouq Ready to 'Cooperate'
[An Nahar] A Mustaqbal
... the Future Movement, political party led by Saad Hariri...
bloc delegation led by ex-PM Fouad Saniora on Monday visited Kuwaiti Ambassador to Leb Abdul-Al al-Qinai to condemn alleged Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
involvement in a "terrorist cell" that has been busted in the Gulf emirate.

In addition to Saniora, the delegation comprised MPs Atef Majdalani, Amin Wehbe and Ahmed Fatfat.

"We came here today to express, in the name of al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc, our condemnation of the presence of a Hizbullah group in the so-called al-Abdali cell, which has been verified after a three-year trial," said Saniora after the talks.

"This act would only lead to sabotaging ties between Leb and the brotherly state of Kuwait, which was among the first countries to embrace Lebanese expats," he added.

"The state of Kuwait has always stood by Leb and supported its stability, growth and development," Saniora went on to say.

Also on Monday, Kuwaiti Ambassador al-Qinai held talks with Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq at the Interior Ministry.

Mashnouq said the meeting tackled the issue of the letter of protest that Kuwait has submitted to Leb over Hizbullah's alleged involvement in the cell.

Expressing his "great respect for Kuwait," Mashnouq expressed "his readiness and the readiness of the Lebanese security agencies to cooperate with the Kuwaiti interior ministry and to offer any help possible in this case or any other issues," Leb's National News Agency said.

The supreme court in Sunni-ruled Kuwait, which has a sizable Shiite minority, last month convicted 21 Shiites of forming a "terrorist cell" with ties to Iran and Hizbullah and plotting attacks in the Gulf state.

Kuwait has protested to Leb over the alleged training of the cell members by Hizbullah, which has ministers in the Lebanese government.

Earlier this month, Kuwaiti authorities expelled 15 Iranian diplomats and shut down the military, cultural and trade missions of the Iranian embassy in Kuwait over Tehran's backing of the "terrorist cell."

Iran said the allegation is baseless.

Key al-Shabaab commander killed
[AA.TR] A key al-Shabaab
... the personification of Somali state failure...
leader was killed in an operation in Somalia’s Lower Shabelle region on Saturday, Somalia’s information minister said in a statement on Monday.

Government troops with international partners killed Ali Mohammed Hussein (Ali Jabal), commander of the Banadir region -- including the capital Mogadishu -- in a security operation.

"Ali Jabal was part of an al-Shabaab network responsible for planning and executing several bombings and liquidations that resulted in the deplorable death of numerous innocent civilians in Mogadishu," a statement from Somalia’s information minister said.

"The successful operation signals the Federal Government’s continued commitment to protect Somali citizens and reduce al-Shabaab's ability to conduct senseless acts of violence against the people of Somalia, its East African neighbors, and the international community," he added.

A statement from the U.S. Africa Command said Monday it carried out a dronezap near Tortoroow in southern Somalia that killed an al-Shabaab member, but gave no further details.

The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...

The military said it has killed 491 forces of Evil in heavy fighting that saw the government order Arclight airstrikes on Marawi and impose martial law across Mindanao.

"I think they are down to only 30 to 40 fighters but don’t discount them as these are good fighters and we are still taking casualties," Lorenzana said, according to the state-run Philippine News Agency.

"In fact, we had one killed and nine maimed some three days ago and yesterday."

The military is looking into claims that Abdullah Maute, one of the brothers leading the Maute group, was killed over the weekend, front man Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla said.

The Lions of Islam currently hold 80-100 hostages, including Catholic priest Teresito Suganob, ABS-CBN news reported Padilla as saying.

Over 100 Tanzanians killed for witchcraft since January
[AA.TR] At least 115 people, majority of whom are women have been killed in Tanzania since January for allegedly practising witchcraft, according to a human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
group based in Dar es Salaam.

In a report released Monday, the Legal and Human Rights Centre said 79 women were killed, mostly by violent mobs in the country after they were accused of being witches, often on the flimsy pretext of them having "red eyes".

The human rights group said the eyes of the women most likely turn red from smoke in their kitchens during cooking, which some members of their community perceive as a sign of being witches.

The report also highlighted the fact that most of these women were middle aged or elderly.

Deep-rooted beliefs in witchcraft and other traditions that condone gender-based violence, and erosion of respect for old people have for decades triggered vicious attacks against women in the east African nation, according to rights’ campaigners.

Hellen Kijo-Bisimba, the center’s executive director, said: "This report shows gross violation of citizens’ rights, especially the right to live. It also shows gross violation of women and kiddies rights."

Texas police agencies get some ICE powers
[FoxNews] The acting director of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency signed more than a dozen agreements with local Texas law enforcement entities on Monday, giving them the authority to perform certain functions as federal immigration agents.

Thomas Homan, who took over as the acting director of ICE in January 2017, signed 18 new agreements with Texas law enforcement agencies to allow officers to interrogate individuals who have been arrested on their immigration status. Officers also will be able to place detainers on individuals.

“It is common sense partnerships like these that help law enforcement achieve our mutual goals, and I’m encouraged by the increased interest from law enforcement professionals who seek to join this program and protect public safety,” Homan said in a statement.

The 287(g) program – which became law as part of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act in 1996 – enables state and local law enforcement entities to collaborate with and perform functions of federal immigration agents.

“The 287(g) program is extremely helpful as it allows local law enforcement agencies to participate as an active partner in identifying criminal aliens in their custody, and placing ICE detainers on these individuals,” Matthew Bourke, a spokesman for ICE, told Fox News. “Removing criminal aliens from our communities produces a higher level of public safety.”

The 18 Texas law enforcement agencies – 15 of which are in the Houston area – will be deputized only under what is called the “jail enforcement model” of the 287(g) agreement.

“Under the [agreement], local law enforcement is not expected to determine the immigration status of individuals during the course of daily activities,” Bourke said. “Only when they process someone into a detention facility.”

Trump signed an executive order in January which called for the beefing up of the 287(g) program.

So far, ICE has signed agreements with 60 law enforcement agencies in 18 states – including the agencies that participated in Monday’s event.

287(g) agreements have been signed in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Taliban Big Turban, 5 others die in Nangarhar
A Taliban commander and his militants were mysteriously killed in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, the local officials said Monday.

The incident took place late on Sunday night in the vicinity of Khogyani district of Nangarhar.

The provincial government says the militants and his commander were killed by unknown gunmen late on Sunday night in Kagi Haderi area of the district.

The Taliban leader killed in the attack has been identified as Fazal Ahmad who was killed with his five fighters, the provincial government.

In the meantime, the district administrative government said Fazal was involved in several destructive activities in this district and their dead bodies are still lying in the area.

The Taliban insurgents group has not commented regarding the report so far.

But reports indicate that the Taliban commander and his militants were killed during an infighting on Sunday night and a total of two Taliban commanders were killed in the infighting.

This is not the first time reports emerge regarding the infighting among the Taliban insurgents but numerous incidents have taken place in the past.

The majority of infighting among the Taliban insurgents take place due to the differences available among the Taliban ranks regarding the appointment of the Taliban group leader.

Not Being Stupid Is ‘Cognitive Privilege’ Now, Which Is Just Like White Privilege
[LEGALINSURRECTION] The University of Iowa’s student newspaper has announced the discovery of a special privilege which intelligent people acquire as an accident of birth. This new privilege — called “cognitive privilege” — functions in essentially the same way as white privilege.
They're students. It wouldn't be fair to expect them to understand the differences between knowledge, wisdom, and processing speed.
The Daily Iowan revealed the discovery of this new privilege earlier this week.

Garden-variety white privilege “is an important topic that deserves a public discussion,” the op-ed on “cognitive privilege” explains, but it is also “prudent to at least mention the wider concept contained therein: that of privilege itself.”

Privilege in general is “the receipt of certain benefits wholly through accident of birth and it is “undeniable that privilege itself is a reality,” the student newspaper explains.

As with skin color and much else, Daily Iowan author Dan Williams argues, people have no control over how smart they are. Life is a huge cosmic lottery full of winners and losers.

Cognitive privilege is one of “many kinds of privilege besides white privilege.”

Also, Williams declares, robots will wipe out manual labor jobs but will somehow not affect jobs available to members of a special cognitive elite.

‘World of Warcraft' video game currency now worth more than Venezuelan money

[TheBlaze] Digital gold from Blizzard’s massive multiplayer online game "World of Warcraft" is worth more than actual Venezuelan currency, the bolivar, according to new data.

According to the site dolartoday.com, which actively tracks the worth of the bolivar on the black market, the bolivar has dropped to 11,185.95 per dollar since KalebPrime posted .

Meanwhile, according to mmobux.com, which tracks the value of WoW’s in-game currency for sales outside of the game, the lowest sale of 10,000 gold in a real life exchange will get you $1.21.

This drop in the worth of the bolivar is stark compared to its worth just a few months ago. In May, 279 bolivars would net $1, according to CNN Money. In June, the worth dropped to 408 bolivars for every dollar.

Kop dies in IED attack near Baqubah

Baqubah (IraqiNews.com) A policeman was killed and two others were wounded Monday when a roadside bomb exploded northeast of Baqubah, Diyala, a local source was quoted saying.

The source told Alsumaria News that the bomb was placed on the side of a country road near Tawakkol village (40 Km northeast of Baqubah), and exploded when the police patrol was passing by.

Earlier on Monday, Dijlah Security Operations commander Mezher al-Ezzawi said three rest houses belonging to the militant group were seized northeast of Diyala.

An airstrike also destroyed a vehicle boarded by Islamic State militants on the borders between Diyala and Salahuddin provinces, killing three on board, a local source told Alsumaria News earlier today.

Islamic State members have escalated their attacks against security and civilians over the past months as Iraqi forces were focusing most of their efforts to drive the group out of Mosul, the militants’ former capital which was declared free earlier this month. More than 25000 militants were killed in the Mosul campaign, according to Iraqi generals, including both foreign and local members, while a few thousands remain in other havens in Diyala, Salahuddin, Kirkuk and Anbar which the Iraqi government plans to target with future military offensives.

“The preliminary results showed that the forces have managed to destroy three rest houses” he added.

The Dijla Operations Command had launched a series of large-scale operations in recent months across Diyala to eliminate IS cells

Haider distances himself from accession remarks
[DAWN] Azad Jammu and Kashmire Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider on Sunday distanced himself from remarks which quoted him as saying a day earlier that judgements such as the one in the Panama Papers case against prime minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
would force people of AJK to consider accession with India. He said his statement was quoted out of context.

"Future of Kashmire is linked with Pakistain’s prosperity. I condemn the way my Saturday’s presser was presented. I had addressed the conference as a Kashmiri," he said. "Kashmiris do not have any option other than Pakistain and have been trying to become a part of the country for last 70 years," he said.

Mr Haider said the people of Kashmire got disturbed when the rupee began devaluing, but "they prefer to get buried in the flag of Pakistain".

Speaking to news hounds, the AJK premier said he had concerns regarding the Supreme Court’s decision and alleged that there was a conspiracy behind the disqualification of Mr Sharif.

Police arrest 33 suspected of instigating Temple Mount riots
[IsraelTimes] Overnight raids in East Jerusalem neighborhoods round up key figures who police say fueled violent protests

Police jugged
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
in raids overnight Sunday 33 men suspected of playing key roles in recent violent demonstrations against Israeli security measures at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City.

Officers and border guards, equipped with arrest warrants, raided homes in East Jerusalem and detained the suspects for questioning, police said in a statement.

Seven were minors aged between 13 and 17, police said.

Raids took place in A Tur, the Shuafat refugee camp, Beit Hanina, Wadi Joz, Ras Al Amud, Issawiya, and the Old City.

The detainees are suspected of taking part in riots and endangering lives, the statement said.

Following questioning they will be brought before a court to have their detention extended.

Police said that by using a combination of groundwork, intelligence-gathering, documentation, and "sophisticated use of technologies" they were able to identify major instigators of violent rioting.

During the rioting dozens of suspects gathered in a number of locations and threw stones, glass bottles and Molotov cocktails, set dumpsters alight, blocked roads, and launched firecrackers at security forces.

A number of officers were maimed during the rioting, police said.

"The Israel police takes a serious view of efforts to riot with the aim of shaping reality and to influence decision making, and will not allow it," the statement said.

Al-Lino: 120 Want to Leave Ain el-Hilweh under Hizbullah-Nusra Deal
[An Nahar] Twenty-seven Lebanese nationals are among 120 people who have registered their names to leave the Ein el-Hellhole Paleostinian refugee camp for Syria’s Idlib as part of a deal reached between Hizbullah

and the jihadist al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
Front group, a top Fatah Movement official has said.

"Until now, no official authorization has been given for the exit of any runaway from the Ein el-Hellhole camp," Brig. Gen. Mahmoud Issa, aka al-Lino, added in a TV interview.

He noted that the Lebanese side has rejected the transfer to Idlib of any runaway involved in terrorist acts in Leb.

The Hizbullah-Nusra agreement got underway on Sunday with the exchange of bodies of fighters between the two groups and an exchange of captives is expected at a later stage.

The agreement follows several days of fighting in the outskirts of the Lebanese border town of Arsal and the Syrian town of Flita that saw Hizbullah seize control of much of the region.

The battles ended with a ceasefire Thursday to allow negotiations to proceed to send the Nusra fighters -- who are now encircled in a small pocket of territory -- and their families to Syria's northwest Idlib province, Nusra’s Syria bastion.

Geagea Backs Canceling By-elections, Calls on Hizbullah to Hand Over Arms
[An Nahar] Lebanese Forces
A Christian political party founded by Bashir Gemayel, who was then bumped off when he was elected president of Leb...
leader Samir Geagea

has called for canceling upcoming parliamentary by-elections to fill three vacant seats in Tripoli

and Keserwan.

"Honestly, we are not enthusiastic for these by-elections. The measure is constitutional in theory, but practically the vote will take place in October, only six months away from the date of the general elections. Should the by-elections take place, they will only cost the State and people money and effort," said Geagea in an interview with al-Hayat newspaper published Sunday.

Asked whether he is in favor of calling off the by-elections, the LF leader said: "We are with canceling the by-elections and holding the general elections, because the time interval between them is not long."

The by-elections are aimed at filling the Tripoli Greek Orthodox seat that was left vacant after the resignation of Robert Fadel, the Tripoli Alawite seat that was held by late MP Badr Wannous and the Keserwan Maronite seat that became vacant with the election of Michel Aoun

as president.

Separately, Geagea said he does not consider Hizbullah

’s battles in the outskirts of Arsal and Flita a "victory."

"It is rather one episode in the series of battles that it has been fighting for the past six years in Syria to shore up (Syrian President) Bashir al-Assad," Geagea noted.

"What is delaying the rise of a real state (in Leb) is Hizbullah’s presence in the current fashion and its usurpation of the strategic decisions," the LF leader added.

Told that Hizbullah chief His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah

has "dedicated the victory to all Lebanese," Geagea said: "If Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah wants to dedicate something of value to the Lebanese, let him hand over his weapons to the Lebanese army and engage in political action, the same as we all did. This step has been overdue for 27 years now."

Deaf Ukrainian woman released from Lugansk custody
On 29 July following her 16-day illegal captivity, the occupation authorities of Luhansk released Liudmyla Surzhenko, a hearing-impaired civilian woman, and expelled her to the Ukraine-controlled settlement of Stanytsia Luhanska. Ms.Surzhenko was detained at a checkpoint of so-called Luhansk People’s Republic (“LNR”) on the line of demarcation in eastern Ukraine on 13 July when attempting to return to her occupied home town of Luhansk from the government-controlled territory.

In captivity, operatives of LNR’s “Ministry of State Security” tortured her to get false confessions of spying for Ukraine out of her. A Ukrainian official is of the opinion that Ms.Surzhenko has been released because her relatives, volunteers, and other activists raised the alarm that she had gone missing. Ukraine prepared appeals to international organizations and courts.

Has Israel seized ‘crucial’ documents from Al-Aqsa Mosque?
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The head of the Jerusalem International Center, Hassan Khater, warned in a press statement of a "real disaster for Jerusalem" after stealing important documents from al-Aqsa mosque by the occupation during the period the Paleostinians were prevented from entering it.

The stolen documents are related to the real estate registry of al-Awqaf Department, which represents 90 percent of the Old City, comprising property, land and Islamic endowment.

The Jerusalem International Center is of the view that the occupation paves the way to manipulate the documents that they took in order to damage al-Awqaf.

The acquisition of documents will reveal the details and secrets of al-Awqaf and the signatures on them. It will enable Tel Aviv to obtain signatures, know who are the authorized persons, and how to transfer or ways to deal with the ownership of al-Waqf. In effect, know all its details and contents, as per the Paleostinian agency "Ma’an".
Of course the Israeli press reports nothing about this, but they wouldn't. Zios are like that, donchaknow, 'cause at bottom they're(((juices))).

PA payments to prisoners, ‘martyr’ families now equal half its foreign aid
[IsraelTimes] While it expects $693 million from donors, Ramallah’s 2017 budget allocates nearly $345 million for the contentious stipends
How fortunate that the PA has been cutting monetary transfers to Gaza on a variety of pretexts, leaving more for the important budget items.
The Paleostinian Authority’s 2017 budget for payments to inmates in Israeli prisons and so-called "families of deaders" is equal in sum to about half of the foreign aid Ramallah expects to receive this year, a recently published Israeli report shows.

According to the PA Finance Ministry’s 2017 budget, published on its website earlier in July, salaries to incarcerated and released Paleostinian prisoners, many of whom are convicted terrorists, will amount in 2017 to NIS 552 million ($153.4 million).
There's a lovely table at the link showing annual outlays under this budget item since 2013.
