A journalism major at George Washington University, Abedin, 40, was listed as "assistant editor" of the journal from 1996 to 2008, when her name was removed from the staff box and she went to work for Clinton at the State Department.
Her brother, who was an associate editor, and a sister, also employed as an assistant editor, are listed as staff members.

At some point with Huma, Hilda, Bill and whole Clinton gaggle are grifting, dishonest, corrupt and criminals, and have played the reasonable doubt card down to tattered, laughable shreds.

Moments ago, Belgian media reported that police had shot and wounded a woman in a Brussels suburb after she attempted to stab three people with a machete. The attack reportedly took place on a bus in the municipality of Uccle in the Belgian capital. The injuries sustained by the victims have been described as "non life-threatening." Police warned the attacker, who refused to comply, before shooting her in the arm.
According to the national broadcaster RTBF, police sources have revealed that the woman - who has been arrested - was Asian and had a history of mental illness. Assuming it's the kind of "Asian" I think it will turn out to be, the police seem to be repeating themselves.
Investigators do not currently believe that this was a terrorist incident. Certainly not. Just another deranged "Asian".
The street has been sealed off, with multiple police patrols present at the scene. The bus route on which the attack took place has been suspended.

Iran's Defense Minister said Russia had been "inconsiderate" and was "showing off" by revealing its use of an Iranian airbase for bombing missions into Syria, in a televised interview late on
Sunday.
The apparent criticism of a close ally came after Russia announced last week that it was using Iran's Hamedan base in western Iran for aerial strikes against insurgent groups in Syria. Whatsa matter - he'd wanted to pretend it was Iranian air-force?

...When this came out yesterday, it was pointed out that the Iranian constitution (such as it is) specifically forbids the presence of foreign military units on Iranian soil. I suspect the Revolutionary Guard wasn't in on this little stunt, and something like this might have been enough to make them consider 'retiring' the current leadership in favor of somebody more doctrinaire.
What I would have loved to see would have been the RG whipping up some students to try 'detaining' some Russians.

[NYP] Campaign manager Robby Mook has written a panicky pitch to Hillary Clinton supporters warning that fundraising numbers are dipping ‐ even adding "that’s how elections are lost."
"Our poll numbers are holding steady, which is good. We’re growing our field organization, building out neighborhood teams in communities all over the country -- which is even better," Mook wrote.
"But that’s happening at a time when our fundraising levels are, frankly, dipping."
Mook appears to attribute lower fundraising numbers with overconfidence. "It seems that with our convention in the rearview mirror and pundits constantly saying that ’momentum’ is on our side, a lot of people believe that we have this locked up and that donations don’t matter anymore."
But, Mook warns, Donald Trump can still win the election.

The Democrat internal polling is much more reliable than the polls the news organizations put out for public consumption. Money is needed because after spending hundreds of millions the election is Hillary's to lose.
I guess she's decided on the former. It's all in line with the basic Lefty principle that you need to flash your virtue not by deeds but with other peoples money.

Every request for donations is made to sound desperate.
Having said that she is burning through a ton of money (while Trump has spent nearly nothing) and she is barely staying even. They've probably done the math and know they'll be out of money and would rather fleece the peasants than dip into big donor pockets at this point.

BLUF: [Free Beacon] Baldwin asked Cohen where Clinton was in the midst of this disaster. She said that even though Clinton did call the governor, people could say that that is not sufficient.
"Where is Hillary Clinton?" Baldwin asked. "Apparently she’s talked on the phone to the governor of Louisiana. But, you know, folks can point out that’s not enough."
Cohen said he was not sure where Clinton was. He then brought up the three campaign managers that have come and gone from Trump's campaign.
"Well, I’m not sure where she is, but I know when you have three campaign managers within the period of time they have," he said. "If you have a campaign in chaos, a leader that can’t work with people and a guy who’s totally on message. [People Magazine] On Friday, the New York Times reported that Clinton told FBI officials former Secretary of State Colin Powell had advised her to use a personal email account while she held the Secretary of State office herself.
"Her people have been trying to pin it on me," Powell, 79, told PEOPLE Saturday night at the Apollo in the Hamptons 2016 Night of Legends fête in East Hampton, New York.
"The truth is, she was using [the private email server] for a year before I sent her a memo telling her what I did," Powell added.
Why does the former diplomat believe this to be the case?
"Why do you think?" he said. "It doesn't bother me. But it's okay; I'm free."
The email scandal has dogged presidential hopeful Clinton for more than a year. But federal officials decided not to pursue criminal charges after a three-and-a-half-hour interview, which was when the Democratic nominee disclosed her alleged conversation with Powell.
The reported conversation was first brought to light in journalist Joe Conason's upcoming Bill Clinton biography, Man of the World: The Further Endeavors of Bill Clinton, in which the writer details a dinner party held by Clinton and attended by Powell, Madeleine Albright, Henry Kissinger and Condoleeza Rice.
"Toward the end of the evening, over dessert, Albright asked all of the former secretaries to offer one salient bit of counsel to the nation's next top diplomat," Conason wrote. "Powell told her to use her own email, as he had done, except for classified communications, which he had sent and received via a State Department computer ... [Powell] confirmed a decision she had made months earlier ‐ to keep her personal account and use it for most messages."
Powell's office later released a statement to NBC News, saying he "has no recollection of the dinner conversation." However, "He did write former Secretary Clinton an email memo describing his use of his personal AOL email account for unclassified messages and how it vastly improved communications within the State Department."

The he did it too excuse has never worked. Trump (or an ally) should come up with an add showing a kid that did something wrong, something they knew was wrong, and using the 'he did it too' excuse. Then show Hillary trying to pin it on Powell. Didn't work with your kids, why would you listen to this with your leaders?

Yeah, and I'm sorry but I don't hold Powell in the highest regard either. There are so many of these "elites" who think computers are some kind of magic, don't understand the technology behind them or the potential security risks and don't know enough to listen to people who do understand. It's arrogance and stupidity. Now we know that Powell is in that same category. It doesn't excuse Clinton.

[SA Today] A man was killed and a Louisiana State Police trooper was shot in the arm Sunday during an auto theft investigation in New Orleans.
New Orleans Superintendent of Police Michael Harrison said during a news conference Sunday that state troopers attempted a traffic stop in the 7th Ward at about 3:30 p.m. of a vehicle that was believed to be reported stolen. Three suspects emerged from the vehicle and one began firing at the troopers, striking one in the elbow, Harrison said.
The suspects then ran from the scene, hiding on nearby blocks in the area. Within minutes, New Orleans and Louisiana State police officers arrived on the scene and began to search for the suspects.
When authorities located one of the suspects, he began to fire at police who returned fire, striking the suspect, Harrison said. He died at the scene.
Details were not immediately available about the man who was killed.
Police are still searching for the two other suspects, described as black males, Harrison said.
“This is still a very active scene,” he said.
SWAT and the FBI were also assisting in the investigation.
A judge in Oklahoma refused to accept a guilty plea from a man accused of beheading a co-worker at a food processing plant in 2014.

Nolen entered the guilty plea to a first-degree murder charge in the beheading of 54-year-old Colleen Hufford shortly after he was suspended from the company for making racial remarks.
District Attorney Greg Mashburn told Oklahoma City television station KFOR that he believes Nolen is mentally competent and he hopes the delay won't be lengthy.

Israeli jets carried out several rounds of fresh Arclight airstrikes in the northern Gazoo Strip Sunday night, hours after rocket fire at southern Israel drew an Israeli reprisal and as Hamas paraded missiles through the streets and threatened renewed violence.
The Israel Defense forces said jets attacked "several" Hamas positions in the Strip in response to a rocket that struck inside the city of Sderot earlier in the day.
"The attack on the terror infrastructures is a response to the high trajectory[indirect] fire out at the city of Sderot earlier today that is a threat to the security of Israeli citizens and damages Israeli illusory sovereignty," the IDF said in a statement just before midnight Sunday. It did not indicate how many raids it had carried out.
There was no immediate word on casualties inside Gazoo.
The large-scale shelling would indicate the most intense Israeli reprisal attack on Gazoo since the sides fought a bloody war in 2014, and could signal a shift in policy by newly installed Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman, considered a hard-liner.
The rocket fire was claimed by two smaller Paleostinian terror groups, but Israel says it holds Hamas responsible for any attacks emanating from Gazoo and routinely responds to such launches with strikes against the organization.
The rocket launch on Sderot struck inside the border town, but caused no casualties or damage. The attack was the second serious rocket strike from Gazoo since Liberman took office in May, following a strike that hit an empty kindergarten in July.
A Hamas official told Israel Radio the group was not interested in a renewal of violence. However earlier Sunday night, Hamas held a large rally in the southern Gazoo town of Rafah, parading rockets through the streets and threatening to renew fighting if Israel did not lift a decade-old blockade on the enclave.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine (PFLP) took responsibility for the rocket launch shortly after the attack. The PFLP’s military arm, the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, told local media: "Our people have the right to practice all forms of resistance in response to the crimes and hubris of the occupation."
The rocket launch was apparently in response to the ongoing imprisonment of Bilal Kayed, a PFLP member who has been kept in prison through an Israeli detention order, despite being scheduled for release earlier this summer, after serving a 14.5-year sentence.

The Israel Air Force conducted 50 airstrikes in two hours against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip late Sunday night, following a rocket fired into Israel by Palestinian terrorists earlier that day, but was not seeking an escalation in hostilities, an Israeli official said on Monday.
Palestinian security sources in Gaza said several targets in the northern Strip were struck by Israeli fire, and that a reservoir in Beit Hanoun was damaged. Israel also hit a base belonging to Hamas’s military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, in nearby Beit Lahiya, witnesses said. Palestinian health and security sources said between two and five people were lightly wounded by Israel’s retaliatory fire.

High profile kidnappings continue in the capital with the abduction yesterday of the head of the National ID board following Thursday’s seizure of a charity boss.
Ali Al-Bousaifi, the ID chief was taken in the Ras Al-Hassan district. Normally kidnap victims are held for ransom. However there are unconfirmed claims that Bousaifi was grabbed by a militia seeking the hand-over of confidential information.
The details behind the earlier kidnapping of Faraj Omar, the head of the medical charity Om Al-Moamenim, are also obscure. One source close to the charity has told this newspaper that Omar was seized because the organisation refused to hand over cash to one of its female beneficiaries, insisting that it would only pay directly to the clinic that was to treat her.
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] One of the most senior leaders of the Taliban group has been killed shortly after the group launched a coordinated attack in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
According to the local officials, the top Taliaban leader, Naeem Khalid, was killed during the fierce clashes in Hesarak district.
Provincial governor’s spokeman Ataullah Khogyani said Khalid was leading the coordiated attack on Hesarak district and was killed in an attack by the Afghan forces.
Khogyani further added taht the Taliban militants suffered heavy casualties during the clashes in Hesarak but did not provide the exact figures, only stating around 100 militants were killed or injured.
The provincial government also added that the Taliban militants have been pushed away from Hesarak district and the situation in the district is currently under the control.

[DAWN] The United States' clandestine National Security Agency (NSA) allegedly spied on top civil-military leadership in Pakistain using malware, The Intercept reported.
I certainly hope we did...
Malware SECONDDATE allegedly built by the NSA was used by agency hackers to breach "targets in Pakistain’s National Telecommunications Corporation’s (NTC) VIP Division", which contained documents pertaining to "the backbone of Pakistain’s Green Line communications network" used by "civilian and military leadership", according to an April 2013 presentation document obtained by The Intercept.
The file appears to be a 'top secret' presentation originating from the NSA's SigDev division.
SECONDDATE is described as a tool that intercepts web requests and redirects browsers on target computers to an NSA web server. The server then infects the web requests with malware.
The malware server, also known as FOXACID, has been described in earlier leaks made by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden.
SECONDDATE, however, is just one method the NSA allegedly uses to redirect a target's browser to the FOXACID server. Others involve exploiting bugs in commonly used email providers by sending spam or malicious links that lead to the server, The Intercept said.
Another document obtained by The Intercept, an NSA Special Source Operations division newsletter describes how agency software other than SECONDDATE was used to repeatedly direct targets in Pakistain to the FOXACID servers to infect target computers.
The Intercept confirmed the "authenticity" of the SECONDDATE malware by means of a data leak reportedly made by Snowden.
Snowden released a classified top-secret agency draft manual for implanting malware which instructs NSA operators to track their use of a malware programme through a 16-character string ─ the same string which appears in the SECONDDATE code leaked by a group called ShadowBrokers.

[DAWN] FOLLOWING the extensive discussions at the recent Pakistain envoys’ conference, Pakistain proposed a ’separate’ dialogue on Jammu and Kashmire to India.
As expected, India promptly interposed preconditions for the talks, even more onerous than in the past. Pakistain’s counter -- that the talks would be strictly on the basis of the UN resolutions on Kashmire -- indicates that the proposal for talks was largely a tactical move to expose India’s obduracy.
It would have been unseemly to hold talks with India when it has just killed over 70 Kashmiris like Burhan Wani and blinded hundreds, including small children, and is continuing with its campaign of oppression. A ’separate’ dialogue on Kashmire will not stop India’s repression. On the contrary, talks would have enabled India to deflect world attention from its atrocities by focusing on ’terrorism’ and could have defused this latest Kashmiri revolt.
During Kashmire’s last major revolt in the 1990s, Pakistain refused talks with India unless it agreed to substantive discussions on the Kashmire dispute. Detailed proposals and counter proposals were exchanged prior to and following the foreign secretary-level talks in 1994. Pakistain called for implementation of the UN resolutions; India obfuscated. But, its foreign secretary indicated a readiness for a solution based on ’autonomy plus’ (that is, more than provided in Article 370 of the Indian constitution) and ’independence minus’ (that is, short of full statehood).

The Huffington Post is just the latest outlet to acknowledge that the explosive research, found first in Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Peter Schweizer's New York Times bestselling book Clinton Cash, has inspired a massive movement of journalists and political figures -- on the left, right, and center -- calling on the Clintons to dismantle their problematic nonprofit.
The Times piece shines the spotlight on "a deal involving the sale of American uranium holdings to a Russian state-owned enterprise" -- another revelation first revealed in Clinton Cash -- "... which involved major Clinton charitable backers from Canada ..." as "another example of the foundation intersecting with Mrs. Clinton's official role in the Obama administration."
Sounds great, but there's likely an ulterior motive:
Biggest problem with shutting it down is how to funnel the money to Hilarity and Bill. It's going to be tracked and taxed. Setting up another charity is just the same thing all over again.

He went on to say that while Soros' influence on the Supreme Court was "horrible enough," the big picture is that the multi-billionaire is "a Jew-hater, an Israel-hater and an America-hater" who ought to be in jail, something for which the only hope is a Donald Trump administration.

[ARA News] GIRKE LEGE – US-led coalition bombed headquarters of the Islamic State (ISIS) radical group in northern Iraq, killing dozens of militants, local sources reported on Monday.
The coalition’s warplanes hit ISIS key positions in the Wasiliya district west of Ramadi, and destroyed an ISIS command center there.
More than 35 ISIS militants were killed in the airstrike, including the group’s leader in Ramadi area Abu Arrab.
“Abu Arrab and dozens of others were meeting in the ISIS command center when the coalition bombed the building in central Wasiliya. All the militants were killed in the raid, including Abu Arrab,” local media activist Saeed Alqam told ARA News.
Abu Arrab had led several ISIS operations against the Iraqi army in Ramadi city and other parts of Anbar province. After showing a high loyalty to the group, the ISIS supreme leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has promoted Abu Arrab to the alleged position of “Ramadi governor” under the ISIS self-declared Caliphate.
By intensifying its air campaign against the radical group, the western coalition’s bombardment has caused heavy losses in ISIS ranks in northern Iraq. According to observers, this could facilitate a ground progress by the Kurdish Peshmerga and allied Iraqi forces against ISIS.

[Rudaw] Clashes between Syrian Kurdish and forces of the Damascus regime continued in the northeastern city of Hasakah on Sunday, despite Russian efforts to end them through mediation.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Sunday that Kurdish forces are advancing against regime enclaves in the Kurdish-majority city’s south. The Kurds are reportedly gaining ground and seizing territory in several regime-held neighborhoods.
An AFP journalist reported seeing members of the pro-regime National Defense Forces (NDF) militia retreating ahead of Kurdish advances.
The Syrian Kurdish Peoples Protection Units (YPG) have clashed with regime military forces in Hasakah and Qamishlo in the past. None of those festivities escalated as far as the current ongoing fighting in Hasakah, which risk sparking a direct conflict between the two for the first time since the start of the Syrian conflict more than five years ago.
The Observatory estimates that the fighting in Hasakah has left 43 dead, 27 of them civilians, including 11 children. It also reported that warplanes belonging to the regime flew over the city early on Sunday but did not drop bombs.

SRINAGAR: India's army said it shot dead three militants from Pakistan on Sunday following an attack by the gunmen two days earlier on an Indian border post in the disputed Kashmir region.
The militants were killed in the Tanghdar sector of North Kashmir, Lieutenant Colonel Manish Kumar told Reuters, adding that three rifles and military supplies had been recovered from the scene.
Indian troops have killed 103 militants in the restive Kashmir Valley so far this year, the highest toll in recent years. According to an official estimate, 56 militants have crossed into Kashmir this year through July, up from 36 in the same period last year.
India accuses Pakistan of sponsoring cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, its northernmost state of which Kashmir forms a part. A Pakistani government spokesman could not immediately be reached for comment on Sunday, but Islamabad denies any such activities.
Muslim-majority Kashmir has been convulsed by protests since the killing by security forces of a field commander of an Pakistan-based militant outfit on July 8, with at least 65 people killed and 6,000 wounded in clashes with security forces.
India and Pakistan have been engaged in a diplomatic back-and-forth to try to arrange talks between their foreign secretaries but they have yet to agree a date or specify the agenda. India is not willing to discuss the status of the part of Kashmir that it controls.

[DAWN] Indian soldiers killed three suspected murderous Moslems in a shootout Sunday in India-held Kashmire (IHK), the army said, as the region reels from weeks of deadly violence between protesters and security forces.
The 'militants' were killed in Tangdhar north of the main city of Srinagar after crossing over from the Pak side of the heavily militarised border that divides the area between the two countries, it alleged.
"Three bad boyz were potted in the fight. Three assault rifles were also recovered from the site of the shootout," claimed army front man Colonel N.N. Joshi speaking to AFP.
The army was trying to determine if the 'militants' were part of the same group that attacked an Indian ammunition depot in the area on Friday, injuring at least three border guards.

[DAWN] KARACHI: A 35-year-old woman was rubbed out in Lines Area on Sunday afternoon ostensibly by two masked robbers, triggering protest by area residents who assumed it was a bid to kidnap a minor child from her custody, according to officials and witnesses.
Brigade police said Aqeela Aman, who was carrying a minor child along with her, was intercepted by two suspects in Lines Area. The suspects reportedly tried to snatch cash from her. As she offered resistance, the gunnies opened fire and fled along with looted cash, police said.
The child, however, remained safe in the incident. Aqeela sustained critical bullet wounds and was transported to Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
"She sustained bullet injuries on right side of mandible," Dr. Seemin Jamali, head of the emergency department of the hospital, said.
The incident triggered violent protest by the local residents. They came out on New Preedy Street, burnt tyres and pelted stones on vehicles. As a result of it, the traffic was suspended on the busy road for several hours.

"The Boko Haram attackers rode on four cycle of violences, three on each, and opened fire on the village as residents slept," said Luka Damina, a resident of nearby Kautikeri village where Kubrrivu residents fled to safety following the attack.
"They burnt down the whole village after looting food supplies and livestock and taking away women and kiddies," Damina said.
Ayuba Alamson, a community elder in Chibok, some 20 kilometres (12 miles) away, confirmed the attack, saying 13 people were kidnapped in the raid.
"After killing 10 people and burning the entire village, the gunnies made away with 13 people, including seven women, five boys and a girl," Alamson said.
In 2014 Kubrrivu was burnt down in a deadly Boko Haram raid which forced residents to flee. A year later they returned and rebuilt their homes after Nigerian troops recaptured swathes of territory from the Islamists in a series of military successes against them.

Sharing details the source said, “A bomb exploded at noon today near a popular market at Mahmudiya district to the south of Baghdad. Two persons were killed and nine others were severely injured.”
“Security forces rushed to the area and transferred the injured to Mahmudiyah Hospital. The bodies of the deceased were sent to the forensic department. Anticipating the presence of other bombs in the area, forces have taken strong measures to prevent further damage,” the source further added seeking anonymity.
(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A source in the Ministry of Interior revealed that a group of armed men stormed into a house, southwest of Baghdad, and robbed 20 million Iraqi dinars.
The source informed, “Unidentified armed men stormed into a house, at noon today, in Hayy al-Torath, southwest of Baghdad and attacked a number of women who were inside the house,” adding, “The armed men robbed 20 million Iraqi dinars before escaping to an undisclosed destination.”
“Security forces rushed to the area and opened an investigation into the incident, and transferred the wounded women to a nearby hospital,” the source further added seeking anonymity.
North Korea has branded a London-based diplomat who defected to South Korea this week as “human scum” in its first official response to the incident.
Pyongyang also denounced the British government for rejecting its demands to return Thae Yong-ho, who was North Korea’s deputy ambassador to the UK.
Thae is the highest-ranking diplomat to defect from North Korea to the South, Seoul said. He and his family arrived in South Korea on Wednesday and are under government protection.
North Korean state media claimed that Thae had defected to escape charges of misusing government funds, selling state secrets and committing child rape. The KCNA news agency said British officials had been informed of his alleged crimes. It said Britain had tainted its image as a law-abiding nation by “handing over the fugitives without passports to the South Korean puppets and neglecting its duty to protect diplomats living in its own country”.

[Saudi Gazette] The man who killed retired Saudi General Ahmed Fayea Asiri has been arrested, Saudi Press Agency quoted the Interior Ministry security spokesman, as stating on Saturday.
Osama Ahmed Muhammad Al-Rajhi, a Yemeni, was the kingpin in the crime.
He admitted to the killing and said that he was acting in line with directives from ISIS abroad.
Two others connived with Osama Al-Rajhi were also arrested. They were Saudi national Muwaffaq Saleh Sunaid Al-Harbi and Osama’s brother Muhammad Ahmed Muhammad Al-Rajhi, a Yemeni.
The Interior Ministry security spokesman said today’s statement follows the one issued on (Monday) Feb. 15, 2016 by Jazan Province Police. They had said that a murder was reported by security patrol. They received a call from a Saudi man saying that his father, retired Brig. Gen. Ahmed Fayea Asiri, was shot by an unidentified gunman in their private farm in Abu Areesh leading to his death.
Investigations in the case and wide field follow-up led to the arrest of the kingpin in this crime, Osama Al-Rajhi and his two accomplices Muwaffaq Al-Harbi and Muhammad Al-Rajhi.
The authorities found a pistol and a silencer in the alleged kingpin’s residence in Abu Areesh. Tests in the forensic laboratory confirmed that it was the weapon used in the crime, apart from the fingerprints lifted from scene of the crime that matched those found on the weapon.
Osama Al-Rajhi, on admitting to the crime, also revealed meeting with Al-Harbi in Makkah to receive the pistol and silencer.
Meanwhile, the second accomplice Muhammad Al-Rajhi admitted that he knew the details of the crime that his brother Osama carried out. Osama then hid the pistol and silencer in a water tank on the roof of their residence.

The Deputy Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Murad Ali Murad, who is leading operations in Kunduz against the Taliban, said that eliminating and suppressing the insurgent group in the province is their top priority.
He said the operation in Kunduz has been launched on a number of fronts.
"Unfortunately, the center of Qala-e-Zal district fell to the militants last night (Saturday night), but we will soon retake the district," Murad said.
He added: "Only dead and weakened Taliban will have a place in Kunduz afterwards. Taliban will be eliminated in Kunduz."
Meanwhile, the Civil Order Police commander in Kunduz, Gen. Zemarai Paiokan, said NATO troops are assisting in this operation.
"The Resolute Support mission's air support are cooperating with the Afghan forces in this operation and we welcome this," he said.
"Our priority is to retake the areas that are under Taliban control. We want to ensure the safety of Kunduz residents," said Sher Aziz Kamawal, commander of police 808 Spinzar zone.
According to reports Taliban has blown up the 300-meter Alchin Bridge which connects Kunduz city with Imam Sahib and Dasht-e-Archi districts as well as with the Sher Khan Port.
Talking on this, Murad said: "Taliban has destroyed Alchin Bridge. We have sent our technical team to the area to address the problem and reopen the way as soon as possible."
Meanwhile, Pamir's 20 Corps said in a statement that nearly 43 Taliban militants were killed and 15 others wounded over the past 24 hours in Kunduz.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AyPee) -- Thirteen people have been shot and wounded at a house party in Connecticut.
Police in Bridgeport were called to the home around 1:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of shots fired.
Responding officers found 11 men and two women suffering from gunshot wounds. All of the victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment. One of the women suffered a gunshot wound to the face and is in critical condition.
Police believe there were at least two shooters and that they fired through some hedges in the yard of an adjacent home. There's no word on a possible motive.

Iran released images of its first domestically built long-range missile defense system on Sunday, a project started when the country was under international sanctions.
Images released on multiple state news agencies showed President Hassan Rouhani and Minister of Defense Hossein Dehghan standing in front of the new Bavar 373 missile defense system. The system was designed to intercept cruise missiles, drones, combat aircraft and ballistic missiles, according to earlier statements by Dehghan.
It was intended to match the Russian S-300 system, the delivery of which was suspended in 2010 due to sanctions imposed over Iran’s nuclear program.
"We did not intend to make an Iranian version of the S-300 -- we wanted to build an Iranian system, and we built it," Dehghan told the IRNA news agency on Saturday.
Rouhani said in a televised speech that Iran’s military budget had more than doubled compared with last year.
"Don't be so modest, President Obama," he added. "Take a well-deserved bow for your part in making our dream a reality."
"If we are able to discuss with world powers around the negotiating table, it is because of our national strength, because of our national unity," he said.
In 2015, shortly before the conclusion of an international agreement on the nuclear program, Moscow re-authorized the delivery of the S-300 system in a move criticized by the United States and Israel. Iran’s army said in May that it was now equipped with the S-300 system, though further parts are due over the coming months.
Rouhani also unveiled the first Iranian-made fighter jet engine on Sunday, saying it was capable of flight at 50,000 feet.
"The Islamic Theocratic Republic is one of eight countries in the world who have mastered the technology to build these engines," the president said.
A day earlier, Iran vowed to continue its efforts to advance its missile technology, and expressed its unceasing support for those who form the "anti-Zionism front" as well as for fighters in other "proxy and terrorist wars in the region."
The pledge came as part of a statement from the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces to mark the country’s National Defense Industry Day, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

The Philippines president, Rodrigo Duterte, railed against the United Nations on Sunday after it called for an end to the wave of killings unleashed by his war on drugs, saying he might leave the organisation and invite China and others to form a new one.
Two UN human rights experts last week urged Manila to stop the extra-judicial executions and killings that have escalated since Duterte won the presidency on a promise to wipe out drugs. About 900 suspected drug traffickers have been killed since he came to power after winning the election on 9 May.
Duterte on Friday denied that the government was responsible and in a middle-of-the-night news conference in his home town, Davao, said the deaths were not the work of the police and invited UN experts to investigate themselves.
The news conference was broadcast by local media and the full version was posted on Facebook by GMA news.
“I will prove to the world that you are a very stupid expert,” he said, urging them to count not just the number of drug-related deaths but also the innocent lives lost to drugs.
He then launched an attack on the United Nations and its members – including by inference Manila’s traditionally close ally, Washington – saying it could not fulfil its own mandate but was “worrying about the bones of criminals piling up”.
“I do not want to insult you. But maybe we’ll just have to decide to separate from the United Nations,” he said. “Why do you have to listen to this stupid?”
Criticising the UN for not doing enough to address hunger and terrorism and for not being able to do anything about Syria and Iraq and allowing big powers to bomb villages and kill innocent civilians, he said he would invite China and African nations to form another global organisation.
“You now, United Nations, if you can say one bad thing about me, I can give you 10 [about you]. I tell you, you are an inutile. Because if you are really true to your mandate, you could have stopped all these wars and killing.”
Asked about the possible consequences of his comments, he said: “What is ... repercussions? I don’t give a shit to them.”
He said the UN should have acted according to protocol by sending someone such as a rapporteur to talk to him.
“You do not just go out and give a shitting statement against a country,” he said.

He's real popular with the regular people in the Philippines who have to live with the drug addicts and criminals. Not so much with the elite who often *are* the drug dealers and criminal heads.
Which is why you shouldn't believe everything reported about him in the media.
He basically said that before his administration the criminals would simply file a counter-claim and the police officer would be suspended (without pay) and have to pay to defend themselves (no lawyers or repsentation was provided) which might take months or years. So why should the police enforce existing laws? Now he says the government will back them up and if they feel their lives are in danger to take out the bad guy.
Basically the exact opposite of what the U.S. Justice Department is telling police officers today here in the US.
An improvised explosive device (IED) tore through an AMISOM military convoy outside Afgoye district, 30 kilometers north-west of Mogadishu on Sunday.
Joe Kibet, the spokesman of AU Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has confirmed the attack, but did not provide further details regarding the casualties on soldiers.

"Pakistain is paying a price of the radicalisation process that began in the anti-Soviet jihad. Just last week, some of the best educated people of Pakistain died in an attack in Quetta. We therefore are appealing to brothers in Pakistain so that we can have civilised relationship and show that religion is for good purposes," Karzai said.

Azerbaijan, a mainly Moslem but secular ex-Soviet state on the Caspian Sea, has launched a crackdown on supporters of the holy man, whom Turkey accuses of criminal masterminding the July 15 coup bid.
Faig Amirov -- an aide to Ali Kerimli, the leader of the Popular Front opposition party -- is being held on suspicion of inciting religious hatred and faces up to five years in jail, his lawyer Agil Layijev told AFP on Sunday.
Investigators said they found books by Gulen in the boot of the opposition figure's car.
Amirov, who is also the financial director of the main opposition newspaper, claims the books were planted after Sherlocks pulled him in for questioning on Saturday, according to his lawyer.
Amirov says the books are not banned in Azerbaijan, and claims he has not make any statements that could be legitimately seen as inciting hatred, his lawyer added.
Opposition leader Kerimli told AFP that Amirov was detained in his flat on Saturday morning by security officers in plain clothes who then searched his home.
Amirov's Azadlig (Freedom) opposition newspaper issued a statement saying the future of both the paper and freedom of speech in the country was under threat.
Kerimli says the authorities have stepped up a "repressive campaign targeting me personally, the party and the newspaper," using the pretext of a "made-up case" about links to Turkish preacher Gulen.

While there was a blast in the back seat of a taxi in Strathroy, Ontario, as police closed in, it came from the detonators, and kaboom did not go off, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) deputy commissioner Mike Cabana said.
The RCMP could not immediately be reached for comment on the newspaper report.
Aaron Driver, 24, was rubbed out by police on Aug. 10 and the taxi company in the small town said the driver sustained only minor injuries in the blast.
Cabana did not go into further detail on the bomb. He said forensic investigation was still underway. The target of what police have said was an attack plotted by Driver was unclear.
Driver, who also used the alias Harun Abdurahman, was placed in durance vile Book 'im, Mahmoud! last year for openly supporting Islamic State on social media, but was never charged with a crime. Islamic State bully boyz control parts of Iraq and Syria and they have supporters and sympathizers around the world who have carried out attacks on civilians in several countries.
In February, Driver was placed on a peace bond, a court order that restricted his movements. It required he stay away from social media and computers and not have contact with Islamic State or similar groups.
The RCMP has said officers sought out Driver on Aug. 10 after a tip from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation that morning, which included a "martyrdom video."
Cabana said police identified Driver from the video in part through his choice of balaclava.
The incident called into question Canada's capabilities to combat extremism and increased calls for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to abandon his plan to scale back a 2015 law that gave increased powers to police and intelligence agents.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan National Army (ANA) forces have lost at least 13 soldiers in the past 24 hours the security situation has rapidly deteriorated across the country.
The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the soldiers bit the dust during the counter-terrorism operations, mainly in northern and southeastern parts of the country.
"The Afghan National Army (ANA) forces are prepared for all kinds of devotion and with all force to maintain security and comfort for the people of Afghanistan," a statement by MoD said, adding that 13 Afghan soldiers were martyred during counter-terrorism operations against the internal and foreign terrorists.
The Afghan force are facing a resurgent Taliban and deteriorating security sitaution since they assumed full charge of the security responsibilities at the start of last year.
The considerable rise in Afghan army casualties comes as the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) are busy conducting their annual operation to suppress the insurgency activities of the Lion of Islam groups.

Clashes have reached unprecedented levels across the country but the north-east and southern parts of Afghanistan are paying a particularly high price in the ongoing war - so much so that the Commandos and Special Forces are now also involved in many of these battles.
"It is not just Taliban who are angry as they are losing the war, but their regional supporters are also angry at Afghan security forces for their good achievements", said Muhammad Rad Manish, spokesman for the ministry of defense.
Heavy clashes are ongoing in Kunduz, Baghlan and Helmand. In Kunduz province, security forces are fighting the insurgents on the outskirts of the city.
However, the question is, how was the Taliban able to reorganize an onslaught in Kunduz?
Hamdullah Danishi, former caretaker governor of Kunduz said: "Government did not destroy the nests of Taliban in the province and they could not manage the war. Security forces do not have good coordination and the Taliban took a lot of ammunition from them in various fights and today once again they are threatening the province and north-east parts of the country."
Currently battles are ongoing in more than 10 provinces and security forces are having to carry out planned operations and night raids.
Meanwhile, poor war management by the ministries of interior and defense has been blamed for the current situation.
"If in this situation government does not take serious steps toward bringing more coordination and better management of the war, it means that security forces will become subordinates to the insurgents", said Baz Mohammad Anwari, a military affairs analyst.
Lack of ammunition and other equipment is also said to be a cause for concern.

A senior military official said the bomber was also killed in the attack in Mora, in Cameroon's Far North province. He said that it was possible one of the three victims was also on the bike. Another security source said authorities were convinced this was the work of Boko Haram.
A regional offensive against Boko Haram led by Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon and Niger - the four countries most affected by the Lion of Islam group - has chased it out of towns in the Lake Chad region.
In response, the group has launched a guerrilla campaign mostly targeting the civilian population.
"Sunday is a big market day," Communications Minister Issa Tchiroma said by telephone, confirming the details and corpse count in the Mora attack. "There were also six people seriously maimed who were transported out by helicopter to Maroua."
He said that "the situation is currently under control".
Mora is home to the headquarters of a multi-national force fighting Boko Haram, which groups troops from Cameroon, Nigeria, Chad and Niger.
There are currently more than 8,000 Cameroonian soldiers deployed in the far north to counter Boko Haram, and there is a large military base for the motorized infantry brigades in the Mora area.

[LibyaHerald] The crisis over the coast road linking Tripoli to Zawia, closed several months ago by Wirshefana militiamen, shows no sign of ending despite efforts to mediate a solution by local elders and threats by Islamist militants in Zawia to use force to reopen it.
The crisis started last week when Zawia’s militant commander Abu Obeida Al-Zawi announced that he was going to take action against what he called Wirshefana “bandits” and reopen the road. Heading the Islamist Mohamed Kilani Brigade, he is supported in this by an assortment of other militants who call themselves the “Revolutionaries’ Operations Room”. They include Benghazi hardliner Wisam Ben Hamid who is now based in Zawia.
Yesterday, there were fears the militants would launch an offensive against the Wirshefana with bloody consequences.
In the event, the militants contented themselves with a military show of strength in Zawia involving some 100 armed vehicles. On the other side, in the Wirshefana area, armed factions, notably the Abdulhamid Al-Hamali Brigade, have rearmed and mobilised. There have been sporadic outbreaks of shooting between both sides, although no full-scale fighting so far.
Meanwhile, responding to the militants’ threat, elders from the two communities as well as from the Jebel Nafusa have been trying to mediate a solution to the road closure. Saturday saw a meeting in the Wirshefana town of Zahra of mediators including members of the Wershafana-Zawia reconciliation committee. But despite an announcement today from the mayor of Maya (which is in the Wirshefana area) that the road would be reopened before next Sunday because Wirshefana demands have been accepted, there is no sign of any breakthrough.
It is reported that there will be another meeting to bring about reconciliation and reopen the road, but also not till next Sunday, and strangely in the eastern town of Shahat.
In the unlikely event of Wirshefana and Zawia negotiatiors actually going to Shahat, it is still unlikely that they will be able to bring about the reopening of the coastal road.
The problem is that those in the two communities who want a settlement are not the ones causing the problem.
While the Wirshefana political establishment supports the Thinni administration based in the east and the Libyan National Army led by Khalifa Hafter, those who have closed the road near Camp 27, the major military barracks between Zawia and the Wirshefana area, are freelance militias beyond the control of either the Wirshefana military Council or the LNA. During Ramadan, the LNA, announcing that it was not responsible for the road closure, described those involved as gangs.
For their part, Abu Obeida Al-Zawi and the militants will have nothing to do with anyone from the Wirshefana and are said to have rejected any deal with them. A spokesperson for the Mohamed Kilani Brigade yesterday said that all peaceful attempts to negotiate with those blocking the road had been exhausted and that the military solution was the only option.
In the capital, the fear is that that Abu Obeida and Wissam Ben Hamid are using the road closure issue as a stepping stone to build up support and then to move to Tripoli to try to take it over.
For that reason, there are those there saying that the Misratans will not allow the road to reopen because they do not want the militants arriving, and that they have already been in contact with the Wirshefana who have closed the road to make sure it stays closed.
Meanwhile in a separate development in Zawia, the town’s other perennial problem, the bitter rivalry between the Khadrawi and Ahneish families has again resulted in clashes between their respective militias. The fighting started after an alleged assassination attempt on Ibrahim Ahneish in the town’s Gamal Abdul Nasser Street.
[Hurriyet] At least 51 people were killed and 69 others were wounded in a suicide attack at a wedding ceremony late on Aug. 20 in southeastern Turkey, the Gaziantep Governor’s Office has said, with the president saying the perpetrator was a child suicide bomber likely from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
“There are strong indications that the attack was carried out by ISIL. A suicide bomber aged between 12 and 14 blew himself up. We know that ISIL has been trying to gain ground in Gaziantep for a while now,” President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told journalists in a press briefing in Istanbul on Aug. 21.
The terror attack took place in the Beybahçe neighborhood of the Şahinbey district of Gaziantep province, according to a statement by the governor’s office. After its initial inspections at the scene, police said they found pieces of a suicide vest.
The bride and the groom were also wounded in the attack on a street wedding, mostly attended by people from the eastern provinces of Siirt and Van.
The suicide bomber reportedly joined the crowd disguising himself as a guest before blowing himself up. Funerals were started to be held on Aug. 21.
[Hurriyet] A brigadier general who was assigned to the legal department of the Office of the Chief of General Staff after the failed July 15 coup attempt, believed to have been masterminded by the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), has been detained over links to the group.
Brigadier General Dinçer Ural had replaced Col. Muharrem Köse, who played an important role in the planning of the takeover and who was arrested after the coup. Ural was detained after the prosecutors determined that he also had contacts with people linked to the U.S.-based Islamic preacher, Fethullah Gülen.
Ural was promoted to the rank of brigadier general in the Supreme Military Council (YAŞ) meeting that took place after the failed bid, with no intelligence indicating he had any connections to the Gülenists. He started his duties in the General Staff on July 28, but it was alleged that he was among the names that the National Intelligence Agency (MİT) determined were using ByLock, an app that came to prominence after the failed seizure of power amid reports that the coup plotters had been using it to communicate.
Ural reportedly spoke on the phone with “Özbek,” codenamed Dilaver Azim, who is named as “suspect number 21” in the FETÖ indictment and described as the organization’s “safe box.” It was determined that Ural and Azim spoke on the phone and exchanged messages between 2011 and 2015.
In addition, Ural’s wife reportedly deposited some 9,500 Turkish Liras to Bank Asya back when Gülen ordered his followers to do so when the previously-Gülen aligned bank was coming under government pressure. Ural’s son was also reportedly working in a company linked to FETÖ and his sister was among the suspects of the probe into the Public Personnel Selection Exam (KPSS) in 2010.
[Hurriyet] Turkey’s Foreign Ministry has called on around 300 diplomats serving at missions abroad to return to the country as part of an investigation into the Fetullahist Terror Organization (FETÖ), which was blamed for the failed July 15 coup attempt. Diplomats who are found to have had liaisons with FETÖ will be laid off from their jobs, while those who have no connection with the organization will return to their posts, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported Aug. 21, citing anonymous sources.
Ambassador Gürcan Balık, who served as the chief adviser to former Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu during the latter’s time as foreign minister amid a variety of diplomatic crises, was detained Aug. 19 as part of Turkey’s post-coup attempt investigation.
Ahead of Balık’s detention, two former Turkish ambassadors linked to FETÖ were detained Aug. 18. Tuncay Babalı, former ambassador to Canada, and Ali Fındık, former ambassador to Costa Rica, were detained in Ankara for suspected links to FETÖ, a police source said Aug. 18. Balık and Babalı have not been on an active mission since early 2014, after the government began fighting against the Gülen movement in the wake of a massive corruption and fraud operation targeting government members in late 2013.
Balık, Babalı and Fındık remain in custody, Anadolu Agency reported Aug. 21.
Gülenist infiltration of the Foreign Ministry took place in high numbers between 2007 and 2013. Both Babalı and Fındık served in the human resources department of the ministry during this period. Babalı was the head of the department between 2010 and 2012 before being appointed to Ottawa, while Fındık was sent to Costa Rica as the Turkish envoy.
At the rate they're going, soon the only one not imprisoned will be Sultan Recep I, former president of Turkey.

Zintani forces loyal to the internationally-recognized Libyan National Army arrested Moez Ben Abdulgader Ben Ahmed Fezzani 47, known by his nom de guerre Abu Nassim, last week as he was trying to flee Sirte, Libya for Tunisia.
A commander of ISIS bully boyz in Libya since 2014, Fezzani had been sought by Tunisian authorities in connection with the March 2015 Bardo Museum attack in Tunis.
Twenty-two people including 17 foreigners were killed in the attack later claimed by the Islamic State.
Fezzani, along with 20 Islamic State operatives, was arrested by a police patrol while travelling between the towns of Rigdaleen and Al-Jmail.

[Motley Fool] General Dynamics' (NYSE:GD) Lima, Ohio-based tank-building factory is back from the dead (the rest of General D was already doing just fine). But it's still a complicated situation -- so let me explain.
Last quarter, General Dynamics reported a 3% decline in sales across its four major divisions. Combat systems, the division that builds Abrams main battle tanks, LAV light tanks, and Stryker armored personnel carriers took it on the chin, with sales down 7% year over year. This obviously was not great news for the company's Lima plant, which builds both the Abrams and the Stryker, and where the payroll has been slashed from a high of 1,200 employees 10 years ago, to about 400 today.
But there's better news rumbling down the pike.
Last week, the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency -- the arm of the Pentagon responsible for coordinating foreign arms sales -- announced that it has notified Congress of a big new order for Abrams main battle tanks for Saudi Arabia. According to DSCA, Saudi wants to buy 153 M1Al/A2 "tank structures" from General Dynamics.
Of those tanks, 133 will then be converted into the M1A2S "Saudi Abrams" configuration, being equipped in the process with a battery of smoke grenade launchers and 0.50-caliber and 7.62-mm machine guns to supplement their main guns -- and stocked with 6,650 rounds of tank ammo. The remaining 20 tank bodies will be used as "battle damage replacements" for Saudi tanks lost in the fighting in Yemen.
Additionally, with casualties mounting in Yemen, the Saudis have placed an order for 20 of General Dynamics' M88A l/A2 Heavy Equipment Recovery Combat Utility Lift Evacuation System (HERCULES) Armored Recovery Vehicles -- used to recover damaged tanks from the battlefield, and return them to base for repair.
Total cost for Saudi Arabia's shopping list: $1.15 billion.

Lets say GD has to shut down the facility. And ten years down the pike the Army needs new or rebuilt vehicles. The tooling most likely has been scrapped. The machinery if government owned is junk due to be stored outside. If owned by GD it is long since auctioned off. The work force and the skills set is one. Its one good reason to keep the place busy with busy work if nothing else to kerp a core staff with the skills set. The same reason the Navy keeps Electric Boat busy. It isn't like a law firm where all you need is an office, desks and phones

Consider your example: EBC, or NASA, or AT&T. Only in the last two decades(?) has telephony advanced the 100 year old two wire solution. NASA continues to refine reaction mass vehicles. Personal transport (cars) have ICE and 4 wheels, as did the Benz 120 years ago.
Invest the million$ of throwaway manufacturing maintenance money in something new.

[DAWN] The military appellate court has upheld the death sentences of five convicts in the Safoora Goth carnage and Sabeen Mahmud murder cases.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on May 12 had announced the confirmation of the death sentences to the five ’hardcore terrorists’ - Tahir Minhas, Saad Aziz, Asadur Rehman, Mohammad Azhar Ishrat and Hafiz Nasir Ahmed - in nine cases of terrorism, including the Safoora Goth carnage and the Sabeen Mahmud murder cases.
The convicts had challenged the death sentences in the military appellate court in June through their counsel, Hashmat Ali Habib.
As per the prosecution, Minhas was the criminal mastermind of the Safoora Goth carnage in which 47 members of the Shia Ismaili community were killed in an attack on their bus in Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... on May 13, 2015.
The federal government in March this year transferred the cases to the military courts established under the 21st Amendment to the Constitution.
According to the investigation, Minhas killed the Ismaili community members to impress the leadership of the bad boyIslamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Minhas advised Jalal to join the IS but he refused, saying he had sworn allegiance in the hand of the late Osama bin Laden ... who is now beyond all cares and woe... .

Sharing further details, the source informed, “Security forces monitored at noon today members of ISIS while they were trying to sneak in from Albu Ziab area to Albu Eitha area in northern Ramadi, through the Euphrates River using four boats.”

Israeli prosecutors charged a Jerusalem resident on Sunday with transferring funds to terrorists after he allegedly transported money from a Hamas operative in Turkey to the West Bank on multiple occasions.
Saif al-Din Abd al-Nabi, 39, was allegedly visiting Istanbul on a business trip on an undisclosed date when he met with Hamas’s Zaqariyah Najib, who asked him to serve as a courier for funds intended as stipends for the families of imprisoned and slain Hamas terrorists.
Najib was formerly imprisoned in Israel for his involvement in the 1994 kidnapping and murder of Nachshon Wachsman, before being released in the 2011 Gilad Shalit prisoner swap.
Nabi met with Najib several times prior to his arrest, each time receiving sums of money from him — eventually totaling $25,000 — which he concealed on his person when he flew back to Israel. He then transferred the funds to the recipient families according to the express instructions handed down by Najib.
Nabi was charged in Jerusalem’s District Court with contact with a foreign agent and use of assets for terrorist ends.
“Through his actions, the defendant knowingly dealt with a foreign agent with no reasonable explanation, and used assets in order to advance or fund terrorist operations, or to reward terrorist acts,” officials said.
Under the terms of Israel’s reconciliation deal with Turkey signed in June and ratified by the Turkish parliament over the weekend, Turkey pledged to keep Hamas from carrying out activities against Israel from its territory, although Hamas would continue to be able to operate from Turkey for diplomatic purposes.

Sharing detail the source said, “A bomb exploded targeting a convoy of ISIS gunmen at the entrance to Telkaif district north of Mosul, killing six ISIS members. Their bodies were handed over to the forensic department in Mosul.”
On the other hand the source stressed that the Peshmerga forces repelled an ISIS attack Al-Kwyr axis east of Mosul, killing 13 ISIS fighters and wounding several others.

Sharing further details the source informed, “International coalition aviation today bombed an ISIS booby-trapped vehicle while it was trying to target the headquarters of the Peshmerga forces in Ibrahim al-Khalil village in Namrud vicinity in Gwer axis to the south-east of Mosul.”
The source added, “The booby-trapped vehicle was completely destroyed in the aerial bombing.”
(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) announced that in an airstrike carried out by the international coalition aviation aircraft to the south-east of Mosul killed 12 ISIS members and injured 13 others.
PKK Media Official Gayath al-Surji in a statement issued to the media, said, “International coalition aviation at noon today bombed at an ISIS gathering in al-Safina village in Gwer axis to the south-east of Mosul. In the bombing 12 ISIS members were killed and 13 others were severely injured.”
Surji added, “The international coalition aircraft are continuing to bomb ISIS headquarters in Mosul.”

[IsraelTimes] Following government review, justice ministry looks to track, separate out snuffies among Moslem prisoners
The UK government on Monday unveiled plans to tackle Islamist extremism in prisons, including banning offensive literature and removing inmates from worship if they promote beliefs deemed against "fundamental British values."
The justice ministry said extremism in prisons was a growing threat which needed to be treated as an "urgent priority."
"For the highest risk gunnies and radicalizers, the government will use all the measures at its disposal, including separation from the mainstream prison population, to contain their risk and prevent the spread of poisonous ideologies.
"Extremists cannot be allowed to prey on the vulnerable," the ministry said in a response accompanying the review on extremism in prisons.
New measures to be brought in include greater vetting of prison chaplains and tighter controls on worship.
"We will ensure that governors use their existing powers to remove prisoners from corporate worship where they are behaving subversively or promoting beliefs that run counter to fundamental British values.
"We do not, however, believe it is the right course of action at present to alter the provision of worship more generally or, for example, to pursue in-cell alternatives," the ministry of justice said.
A total of eight measures will be introduced, including a review of staff training and the removal of literature considered bully boy and offensive. The government said it had additionally created a new department -- the Security, Order and Counter Terrorism Directorate -- which will be in charge of developing the plan to counter Islamist extremism in prisons.
The new plans follow a review commissioned by the former justice minister, Michael Gove, which saw a team visit more than 60 prisons in the UK, La Belle France, the Netherlands and Spain. Gove’s successor, Elizabeth Truss, threw her support behind the overhaul.
"Islamist extremism is a danger to society and a threat to public safety -- it must be defeated wherever it is found.
"I am committed to confronting and countering the spread of this poisonous ideology behind bars," she said in a statement.
In their review, researchers said some prison imams faced intimidation, while inmates were confronted with "aggressive encouragement" to convert to Islam.
They also identified "charismatic IE (Islamist bully boy) prisoners acting as self-styled ’emirs’ and exerting a controlling and radicalizing influence on the wider Moslem prison population."
The review found both Moslem and non-Moslem inmates were vulnerable to radicalization and called for leadership to ensure Moslem prisoners could safely practice their faith: "Throughout the review the team emphasized the importance of faith to prisoners, and its potential to transform lives for the better.
"Its premise was that Islamism ‐- a politicized, expansionist version of Islam -- is more ideology than faith, and is driven by intolerance and anti-Western sentiment."

[Inquirer] Philippine police killed three local terror suspects, who had allegedly vowed allegiance to Daesh, following a brief clash on Saturday afternoon in Sarangani province.
Regional police spokesman Romeo Galgo Jr. said a team from the the Special Action Force was sent to Maasim town on Saturday to verify the presence of Mohammad Jaafar Maguid, founding chair of Ansar Al-Khilafah Philippines, a group which pledged allegiance to Daesh last year. Galgo said Maguid's followers shot at troops as they approached the village.
Maguid, known as "Commander Tokboy," first established a base in Palimbang town in Sultan Kudarat province more than a year ago. But his group was driven out by Philippine marines following a six-hour gun battle that left seven of his men killed. Daesh flags, guns and ammunition were recovered in the area.
Galgo said Mustapha Gansing, a follower of Maguid, was arrested immediately after Saturday's clash in Barangay Daliao. He said a subsequent raid on the house of Kupang Sahak, another Maguid supporter, resulted in the recovery of Daesh flags and bomb making equipment.

[AnNahar] Regime forces and Kurdish fighters agreed to a truce in the flashpoint Syrian city of Hasakeh on Sunday after two days of Russian mediation efforts, a military source told AFP.
The northeastern city has been rocked by deadly festivities between U.S.-backed Kurdish forces and fighters loyal to Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Horror of Homs... since Wednesday.
In a bid to calm tensions, a delegation of Russian officials from the coastal Hmeimim military airport arrived in the nearby city of Qamishli on Saturday for talks with the two sides.
By Sunday, the Russian-mediated negotiations reached an agreement, a Syrian military source told AFP.
It included a "halt to all hostilities and the return to regime forces of any positions seized by Kurdish fighters" since Wednesday, the source said.
Casualties would also be transferred north to Qamishli, and additional negotiations would take place on Monday.
"A delegation of Russian officials and members of the (pro-regime militia) National Defense Forces (NDF) have arrived at Qamishli airport for a meeting tomorrow (Monday)," a source from the Hasakeh governorate said.
A local journalist working with AFP toured seven army checkpoints that had been seized by Kurdish fighters and confirmed that regime forces were back in control.
But Kurdish fighters still held three positions previously controlled by the NDF in al-Nashwa, a southern district of Hasakeh, the journalist said.

[DeutscheWelle] Populist right-wing AfD party co-leader Frauke Petry has encouraged Germans to carry firearms. She claims the government has lost its state monopoly to protect the public, especially in thinly populated areas.
Petry, who caused an uproar January by suggesting German police could use firearms to deter incoming refugees, on Saturday called into question Germany's policing and stringent gun ownership law in the wake of deadly attacks last month.
There were no grounds for concern when citizens armed themselves for self-protection in areas where austerity measures by national and regional governments had "systematically ruined" police services, Petry told the Funke Media Group based in Essen.
"Every law-abiding person should be in the position to protect himself, his family and his friends," Petry said.
Greens co-leader Katrin Göring-Eckardt promptly accused Petry of negligently stoking anxiety and said trained recruits should be hired where Germany's "good" police forces were depleted. A delegation of four officials from the U.S. will travel to Turkey on Aug. 22 to discuss Ankara’s demand for the extradition of Fethullah Gülen, who Ankara accuses of orchestrating the July 15 coup attempt in Turkey, amid stringed ties between the two NATO allies concerning the issue.
The delegation of three U.S. Justice Ministry officials and one U.S. Department of State official will hold meetings with Turkish officials on Aug. 23 and 24 over the failed coup attempt and the issue of Gülen’s extradition.
Turkish Justice Ministry officials have concluded their preparations for the delegation’s visit, in which they say they will share with their U.S. counterparts the extradition demand documents and evidence showing Gülen’s direct involvement in the coup attempt.
