Real start, or a "Gulenist" false flag to allow Maduro powers to crush the opposition?
[Ay-Peee] Venezuela's government said Monday it put down a mutiny by a National Guard unit in a poor neighborhood a few miles (kilometers) from Venezuela's presidential palace.
The uprising triggered protests in the same neighborhood, which were dispersed with tear gas as residents set fire to a street barricade of trash and chanted demands that President Nicolas Maduro leave power.
The armed forces in a statement said that it had captured all those involved in what it described as "treasonous" acts motivated by "obscure interests tied to the far right."
It said at around 2:50 a.m. (06:50 GMT), a small group of guardsmen took captive a captain in charge of a police station in western Caracas and then moved across the capital in two military trucks to the poor neighborhood of Petare, where they stole a cache of weapons from another outpost. So, a minor uprising, even if real. They prolly haven't been paid in a while

Continuing their tradition from December, 1941
FirearmsForum] A charter bus company had been hired for the 18-hour drive back to Arkansas. The Army had budgeted for a stop to get snacks. The bus company determined that the soldiers would reach North Platte, in western Nebraska, around the time they would likely be hungry. The company placed a call to the visitors' bureau: Was there anywhere in town that could handle a succession of 21 buses, and get 700 soldiers in and out for a quick snack?
North Platte said yes. North Platte has always said yes. The community welcomed more than 700 service men and women, North Platte, Nebraska, June 18-19.

Thanks to this article, I did some reading on WWII canteens & discovered this gem, now open as a National Historic Landmark, near Canton, OH and not far from where I live. Place is Dennison, Ohio. It was the 3rd largest canteen in WWII USA, and the only one still having its original appearance. At one time 13% of all WWII US servicemen passed through Dennison.
Place got the nickname "Dreamsville" from this 1942 Glenn Miller tune:

[WSJ] Sen. Kamala Harris, (D., Commie) said she is running for president, aiming to become the nation's first woman to win the White House and the second black commander in chief. She's come a long way from lying on her back under Willie Brown
Ms. Harris, who served as San Francisco district attorney and California attorney general before being elected to the Senate in 2016, made her announcement in a Martin Luther King Jr. Day interview on ABC's "Good Morning America" and in a video distributed to supporters.
"I am running for president of the United States and I'm very excited about it," Ms. Harris said on "Good Morning America." I love my country and this is a moment in time where I feel a sense of responsibility to fight for who we are."
The 54-year-old will highlight her career as a prosecutor with the campaign slogan "For the People." She joins a Democratic field that includes two of her Senate colleagues, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Kirsten "White bread with no principles" Gillibrand of New York, along with former U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián "Wholian?" Castro and former Maryland Rep. John "really?" Delaney. Because she, like the others, have no real accomplishments. Clown car to the debates
The field could grow in the coming weeks with the potential entries of Sens. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Cory "Spartacus" Booker of New Jersey, former Texas Rep. Robert Beto O'Rourke, former Vice President Joe "Handsy" Biden and a multitude of
others.

Harris Lets Statute Of Limitations On San Onofre Lapse, Defends Brown
Submitted by Liza Tucker on Fri, 05/06/2016 - 14:17
California Attorney General Kamala Harris had evidence in her hands that she could have used to bring former PUC President Michael Peevey, architect of the secret San Onofre deal, to justice. And she had plenty of time, three years, to file criminal charges before the statute of limitations ran out on obstruction of justice--the easiest charge to prove.

[BBC] Israel says it has hit Iranian targets around the Syrian capital, Damascus.
The Israel Defense Forces say the overnight operation targeted the elite Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, as well as Syrian air defences.
The Syrian military says it shot down most of the Israeli missiles. But a monitoring group reported that at least 11 pro-government fighters were killed.
The IDF says it acted after the Quds Force fired a rocket from Syria towards the occupied Golan Heights on Sunday.
Iran, Israel's arch-enemy, has sent thousands of military personnel to support Syria's President Bashar al-Assad in the country's civil war.
[Free Beacon] The dark money nonprofit launched by Hillary Clinton following her defeat against Donald Trump relied heavily on just six donors and an $800,000 money transfer from her former presidential campaign committee during its first year, according to tax forms provided to the Washington Free Beacon.
Clinton's nonprofit, the New York-based Onward Together, was incorporated on April 24, 2017, by Marc Elias, a prominent Democratic lawyer and partner at the Washington, D.C.-based Perkins Coie law firm, filings show. Elias served as Clinton's top campaign lawyer.
Clinton launched Onward Together to allow her to be a part of the resistance against Trump and to encourage "people to organize, get involved, and run for office." The group would additionally send money to already established liberal groups who could provide direct action against Trump and Republicans.
The Free Beacon first attempted to obtain Onward Together's 2017 tax forms over a month ago but did not receive a response at the time. However, a search of state filings in North Carolina showed that the group had taken in just $3.1 million in contributions during its inaugural year.
Nick Merrill, Clinton's spokesperson, recently provided the group's tax forms.

"Hillary's Dark Money"...a convenient euphemism. Among topics conveniently not mentioned is the 'fund sourcing' for the Clinton Foundation. This in my view, is the likely life blood of her mischief and (following the unexpected Trump win) the source of great angst and consternation within the intelligence community.
* Diversionary red squirrel graphic is in seasonal hibernation.
[SO April 2014 article] British Air Ministry engineer William Godfray De Lisle came up with the concept of an integrally suppressed rifle while working at home in 1942. He created a prototype chambered in .22 caliber and based on a Browning semi-automatic rifle to hunt small animals for food. After much success, he realized the extreme quiet of the rifle might fulfill his intended role for it, after all... Killing men.
In early 1943, he informed Sir Malcolm Campbell, head of the secretive Combined Operations, of his invention, and Campbell suggested an interesting way to demonstrate it ‐ in the open with unsuspecting people around.
From the roof of a building overlooking the river Thames in London, De Lisle fired several shots into the water as people strode by on sidewalks. Campbell watched with interest to see if anyone heard the shots. None did. The weapon found a buyer right then. First, though, there needed to be improvements.
Combined Operations wanted a more potent caliber. Shunning rifle cartridges, a 9mm, the standard British and German pistol round, sounded right. De Lisle disagreed and suggested something larger: the U.S. .45 caliber pistol round. Denied, he created the 9mm version based on the standard Lee-Enfield bolt action. Subsequent testing showed reliability problems with the 9mm, and De Lisle, still insisting the .45 caliber the optimum choice, at last won over the officials and built the next version. This time, the tests went much better, and established the De Lisle carbine as one of the quietest firearms in history.
[FOX] President Trump is right to continue his drive to remove combat troops from Syria and Afghanistan and can cite the success of the privatized Flying Tigers in World War II as a way of finding economy of force during transition operations.
U.S. troops have been carrying the lion’s share of these fights and have mostly accomplished the original missions of each. In Syria, ISIS is largely defeated, save rogue terrorists that will continue to attempt asymmetric attacks. In Afghanistan, Coalition forces have trained and equipped 175,000 Afghan National Army and 150,000 Afghan National Police Forces that can secure their country.
To be sure, we maintain strategic interests in each of the regions. In Syria, we need to deny an Iranian land bridge to Israel and the Mediterranean Sea. In Afghanistan we need to ensure the Afghan government can deny sanctuary to terrorist groups such as Al Qaeda to prevent planning of attacks against the homeland.
Other threats, though, loom on the horizon, and the United States can husband its military forces, reduce operational costs, and prepare for future combat by employing private Military Mentor Teams (MMT), Aviation Support Units (ASU), and Governance Support Elements (GSE). We can do this first in Syria with an economy of force and then review the lessons learned as we transition into Afghanistan.
The private force will be almost entirely former military and law enforcement from multiple countries. Veterans serving again ensures experienced combat-seasoned personnel will be coaching, teaching, and mentoring indigenous forces. The historical case study for this common-sense, cost-saving action that bolsters our alliances and ensures achievement of our enduring strategic interests is the Flying Tigers in the pre-World War II era.

Rick: And got well paid for it on both occasions.
Renault: The winning side would have paid you much better.

“In Afghanistan, Coalition forces have trained and equipped 175,000 Afghan National Army and 150,000 Afghan National Police Forces that can secure their country.”
If they are capable, why don’t the Aghans take care of the security of their country?
“The move makes sense in every respect. The U.S. has invested nearly $1 trillion in Afghanistan since the war’s inception and has another $50 billion on tap for 2019. The privatized force can do the job about 85 percent cheaper with the prospect of being more effective.”
A privatized mercenary force is 85% cheaper and has the prospect of being more effective. The operative phrase is prospect of being more effective.
What recent experiences can be pointed to that support that idea? Africa? Weapons and Warfare.
There are some attractive features of mercenary forces: cost (already mentioned), latitude in recruiting a combat-experienced army, and keeping the force free from social engineering “engineers.” The U.S. can use the money saved for building a wall, building infrastructure and reducing the debt.
On the other hand:
1. Recruiting combat-experienced mercenaries might be a problem as fewer and fewer Americans have combat experience. That leaves recruiting mercenaries from other armies which can be problematic.
1.What happens when mercenaries break laws? Who is on the hook for that?
2.There are likely to be support, logistics and intelligence issues.
3.What happens when the SHTF. Does the U.S. intervene? Not so easy to drop forces into a gone-south situation.

HIMMM. "Flying Tigers in the pre-World War II era". I am only familiar with WW11 and post. My uncle went on to Pam Am as a pilot and helped with the air lift out of Castro's Cuba. He never talked much about it but he was never asked as I recall. I envied him I must say. He and his small family traveled the world. Portugal sounded interesting. Mentioned the loading of sardines on the backs of burros spilling many and gathering then up lastly so as not to waste. Yep, poop and all.
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Visits to the Black Sea by U.S. warships have nothing to do with U.S. security and are motivated by domestic politics, prominent Russian senator Alexei Pushkov said on Sunday, warning they should stay away from the Russian coast.
The U.S. guided-missile destroyer Donald Cook began moving towards the Black Sea on Saturday, "to conduct maritime security operations and enhance regional maritime stability, combined readiness and naval capability", a U.S. navy statement said. www.navy.mil/index.asp
The Russian Black Sea fleet began monitoring the warship once it entered the region, RIA news agency cited Russia’s National Defence Control Centre as saying on Saturday.
"U.S. warships are becoming frequent visitors to the Black Sea. These visits have nothing to do with U.S. security," Pushkov, a member of Russia’s Upper House Commission on Information Policy, wrote on his Twitter page.
"They flaunt their flag, send us a signal, and appease their own senators, who are demanding they send a whole military fleet to the Black Sea. They should keep away from our coastline," he wrote.
This week a court in Russia extended by three months the arrest of 24 Ukrainian sailors captured along with their ships in November in the Kerch Strait, which links the Black Sea with the Azov Sea. They stand accused of illegally crossing into Russian territory.

Herb, as long as they conduct their "Maritime Operations" 12 miles out and observing the proper safety protocols for the sea, I don't have a problem with tit for tating. The Ruskies want the 12 mile limit here and 500 miles out at their place however. Ain't gonna work that way.

Remember the 4th ID and Gulf War I? I really don't like having a US Navy ship on the "other side" of the Bosporus and in the Black Sea unless there is a really, really good reason for it being there.
[Republic] KABUL, Afghanistan ‐ The Latest on developments in Afghanistan (all times local):
10:20 a.m.
An Afghan official says the Taliban attack on a military base and police training center in the country’s east has killed at least 12 people, mostly military personnel, and wounded over 30.
Salem Asgherkhail, head of the area’s public health department, says some of the wounded have been taken to the provincial hospitals while the more serious cases have been sent to the capital, Kabul, for treatment.
He was not able to provide a casualty breakdown or say how many of the wounded were transferred to Kabul following the coordinated Taliban attack on Monday morning on a military base and a training center in eastern Maidan Wardak province.
9 a.m.
Afghan officials say the Taliban have launched a coordinated assault on a military base that also serves as a police training center in eastern Maidan Wardak province and that there are casualties.
Nasrat Rahimi, deputy spokesman for the interior minister, says that a suicide car bomber struck the military base on Monday morning, followed by insurgents who opened fire at the Afghan forces.
He says at least two Taliban fighters were killed by Afghan troops.
Rahimi could not provide casualty figures.
Salem Asgherkhail, head of the area’s public health department, says ambulances were dispatched to the site and that there are fears of high casualty numbers.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman, claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement to the media.
[NBC] PESHAWAR, Pakistan ‐ The Afghan Taliban last week stalled peace talks with the U.S. after the American delegation demanded the militant group announce a ceasefire and release a U.S. academic it is holding, four senior Taliban officials told NBC News.
A Taliban commander in Afghanistan's Helmand province said U.S. negotiators had "asked us to first release the American professor whom we kidnapped after an attack on American University in Kabul."
Like other militants NBC News interviewed, he spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to comment on negotiations.
The Taliban leader called the alleged demand "unrealistic" and said the militant group was putting peace talks aimed at ending America's longest war on ice.
Kevin King was kidnapped at gunpoint from the American University of Afghanistan in Kabul alongside Australian colleague Timothy Weeks in August 2016.
The Taliban have said King is seriously ill and previously commented that he requires hospital treatment for his heart disease. The Taliban leader said U.S. special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad had threatened the group if anything were to happen to King despite knowing that he was sick
[American Thinker] Mueller, the wall impasse, the shutdown, the "postponement" of the SOTU ‐ all are skirmishes in the undeclared war on President Trump waged by Democrats, the Deep State, and the compliant media. A decisive battle will be enjoined if Ruth Bader Ginsburg dies or resigns this year.
Nothing scares the left more than the prospect of Trump filling another seat on the SCOTUS with a young, fire-breathing constitutionalist who would join with Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh to form a conservative bloc for the ages.
Pelosi and Schumer are praying that Justice Ginsburg survives and remains on the bench until January 1, 2020, when their concern for her well-being ceases. They know that Senate majority leader McConnell could not persuade his entire caucus to abandon the principle he championed in 2016 that a nomination to the Supreme Court in a presidential election year is inappropriate.
Here's how it may go if RBG vacates the bench or the Earth soon, as seems likely: Pelosi will immediately schedule a vote to launch a formal impeachment inquiry, pre-empting the president's announcement of his choice to fill Ginsburg's seat. It will pass along partisan lines, swamping other news. Next, the House Judiciary Committee (Jerrold Nadler, chair) will draw up charges against the president. Eventually, the committee will vote out articles of impeachment. At some point after this, the entire House votes on the articles. Trump is impeached.
#3
I agree. Trump will be impeached at some point in the next couple years by the house. Pelosi is waiting for maximum impact of the event and I also think that RBG kicking the bucket will kick off the impeachment circus.

Clinton impeachment sent him soaring in the polls.
I'm pretty sure Trump could turn impeachment into re-election and a massive majority in the House.
#7
The Senate tries, and it requires a 2/3rd supermajority to convict. No way that many Republican senators side with the Democrats, not even if Mitt Romney makes noises.
#8
Only requires 2/3rd of the states to call for a national convention. Given the choice to be ruled by 10 metropolitan areas or live free of your own choosing, some people are making a good case for the latter.
[American Thinker] Saturday was National Popcorn Day, but I’ve been nibbling on popcorn all week as Nancy Pelosi learned a lesson about presidential power and the media was gut checked by the special prosecutor. I haven’t had this much fun since election night 2016.
While she might have thought otherwise, the power of the commander-in-chief is far greater than that of the speaker of the House, and the humiliating way this was brought home to the congressional equivalent of Maerose Prizzi (h/t Michael Walsh) was something. She anticipated that she and her posse of cronies and their families (reports of a ninety-some entourage in all) would hop a military plane for a free trip to Brussels, Afghanistan, and Egypt, doubtless with fawning media coverage, leaving the president to sit alone in the White House hoping fruitlessly they’d toddle in there to negotiate an end to the shutdown. Reports vary as to whether she was on the tarmac or on her way there when the president cancelled the flight as incompatible during a shutdown when federal workers were not being paid and illegal aliens were continuing to invade.
The president twisted the knife, suggesting she was free to fly commercial, which served as a reminder of the enormous tab she ran up on such flights the last time she was speaker. She thought she had the upper hand in this. She learned she certainly didn’t, and was last seen at Reagan Airport, with one aide and a single security agent, heading out of town to somewhere on a commercial flight. The president cancelled his own trip to Davos and required other similar travel on military airplanes be made only at the approval of the secretary of defense until there is a budget he can sign that provides for a secure border barrier.
This may well have been a tit-for-tat response to Pelosi’s claim that the president should postpone his State of the Union address because the House chambers in which such things normally occur could not provide adequate security, something the Secret Service decried as untrue. Nevertheless, nothing could have better revealed the speaker’s callous disregard for the unpaid government workers who vote overwhelmingly Democrat or for the others whose lives have been disrupted by the shutdown and the inadequate security at our southern border. Or the superior power of the commander-in-chief.
[Fox] Actor Gary Sinise raised $1.3 million to help members of the military and first responders by selling a1981 Jeep CJ7...twice.
The custom truck was auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson auction on Friday, with proceeds earmarked for the Gary Sinise Foundation, which runs a variety of programs aimed at entertaining and assisting veterans, active duty military, America's emergency services and their families.
The red, white and blue Jeep was built by Richard Rawling's Gas Monkey Garage and initially sold for $200,000, with another partner on the project, heavy equipment broker Sunbelt Rentals, donating an additional $1 million to the organization.

Find any video of the kids chanting "build the wall" and link it on here. You can’t.
Here is a pretty comprehensive unedited video https://youtu.be/t3EC1_gcr34 of the events in question. The kids were there for about an hour and Nathan Phillips showed up from out of nowhere with several people shooting video, walked into their group, drummed in that kid’s face, and left after about 3-5 minutes.
There was no threat of violence from the kids. The Black Hebrew Israelites were hurling racist and homophobic insults at the kids AND the Indigenous People’s March participants ( calling them “Uncle Tomahawks”), with several of the Indigenous Peoples March participants getting into angry confrontations with the BHI.
The BHI did threaten several people with violence including a guy on a skateboard playing loud music to drown them out who they called a “stupid Puerto Rican”, random people walking by, and the kids in question, but it is not unusual for them to do so as they are listed as a militant hate group by the SPLC. Keep in mind that news media orgs have seen this video and don’t report any of this overt bigotry by the BHI.
Nathan Phillips claims that the kids approached and surrounded him, prevented him from escape, and chanted “build the wall”, all of which are definitively proven false by every video of the event.
This entire story is a construct at best and at worst it’s an occasion of an adult harassing children and then convincing the world it was the other way around.

As your foremost sage said
“Political tags — such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth — are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort.”

After living through the last presidential election and reading a bunch of Scott Adams, I have come to realize that facts simply do not matter any more. If they ever did. It's all about feelings and after-the-fact rationalization. Any facts contrary to the world-view disappear in a burst of cognitive dissonance.
Two tells for cognitive dissonance brain-lock: The victim rolls their eyes and snorts "Please!" , or their rebuttal takes the form of "So.. [absurd conclusion]". The classic example of the latter is "So you think we should organize our society along the lines of lobsters". (British newsie Cathy Newman interviewing Jordan Peterson)

There are clearly reality-based voters who can be moved, SteveS, because President Trump’s poll numbers keep getting better. But I suspect most of them are being as quiet about it as Pakistani Muslims who discovered Christ.
Maybe a few people should contact the Oak Park IL City Manager and comment about the fact that Ms. Griffin's name is literally written on the wall of the Village Hall (along with some others as listed HERE) I have seen it, and here is a shot of Dr. Bernard Fantus' entry.
What is this eerie power Donald Trump has to select the perfect enemies, enemies whose own myriad failings often cause them to commit ritual suicide whenever they face him? He usually doesn’t even have to do anything ‐ these goofs do it to themselves.
His latest victim is BuzzFraud, that listcicle-curating web site for millennial geeks that had the mainstream media in a 24-hour festival of onanism over a report so full of Schumer that even Mueller and his pack of Democrat activists had to shout, "Yo, chill."
...Nancy Pelosi made the mistake of buying her own hype and thinking she could go troll-to-troll against him. Big mistake. She thought she could high-hat him by kinda/sorta rescinding her State of the Union address invitation.
...So, Trump waits until she and the rest of her pals are on a bus ready to jet off to party in Europe with a fig leaf stopover in Afghanistan and then he pulls the plug. We get delightful footage of dejected ugly Americans filing off the bus, their boondoggle delayed until they do their damn job. Glorious.
...See, Trump’s an equal opportunity brawler. It’s not just Democrats he smashes. It’s the Fredocons too. Take Mitt Romney, please, preferably to one of the Third World hellholes where he outsourced American jobs.
...Remember Michael Avenatti? We don’t, but his creditors do. And Stormy Daniels? Last we heard she was at the Peppermint Hippo gentleman’s club in Rancho Cucamonga, trying to pay off her judgment to Trump a dollar-bill at a time shimmying to "Pour Some Sugar on Me."
They keep lining up to take Trump out, and he keeps knocking them down. Name a significant feud he’s lost. You really can’t. It’s actually quite remarkable...
The Weekly Standard, dead. Trump, still president.
Kathy Griffin, career dead. Trump, still president.
Michael Cohen, aka No. 9575864, envying the dead. Trump, still president.
And thank goodness that Trump not only likes to fight but knows how to win. The GOP softies would have folded long ago in the face of media finger-wagging and howling Democrats. But not Trump. He enjoys crushing his enemies, seeing them driven before him, and hearing the lamentations of those who identify as women, as well as woke males who use Gillette products.

It doesn't have to be delayed. If it was so important they could always pay for it themselves. Heck, somehow Nancy parlayed her six figure job into something that easily makes her part of the 1%. She could probably pay for the whole thing herself and not even notice it.
[Breitbart] In his Sunday appearance on New York AM 970 radio’s "The Cats Roundtable" with John Catsimatidis, Rep. Lee Zeldin’s (R-NY) commented on the ongoing partial government shutdown, saying if pay for Congress were to be cut off, there would be a budget deal for border wall funding in as soon as 45 minutes.
"It’s difficult to miss one paycheck. It becomes increasingly difficult to miss a second paycheck," Zeldin told Catsimatidis. "I really do believe that you should lock every member of Congress in a room, bring the president in, no phones, no pay, you’re not leaving until there’s white smoke; you need to negotiate, compromise with each other, with the president. And I think you can have a deal within maybe it’s 45 minutes, maybe it’s four hours
"It’s crazy to me that you have members of Congress getting paid while ... you have Coast Guardsmen who are not," he added.

[Dhaka Tribune] Banned holy warrior outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh The JMB is said to be the youth front of Al Mujahideen, the parent organization that began working toward establishing Bangladesh as an Islamic state in the mid 1990s, which remains obscure and probably defunct today. Other organizations, such as Jama'atul Jihad, JMB, Jagrata Muslim Janata Bangladesh (JMJB), Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HUJI), Hizbut Tawhid, Tawhidi Janata, Islami Jubo Shangha, Islami Shangha, Al Falah A'am Unnayan Shanstha and Shahadat-e al Hiqma are believed to be part of the Al Mujahideen network. The JMB at its peak was reported to contain at least 100,000 members, and an alleged 2,000-man suicide brigade, few of whom actually exploded. JMB allegedly received financial assistance from individual donors in Kuwait, UAE, Bahrain, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Libya. Reports have claimed that funding of JMB by international NGOs like Kuwait based Society of the Revival of Islamic Heritage (RIHS) and Doulatul Kuwait, Saudi Arabia based Al Haramaine Islamic Institute and Rabita Al Alam Al Islami, Qatar Charitable Society and UAE-based Al Fuzaira and Khairul Ansar Al Khairia. The top leadership of JMB was captured in 2005 and hung in 2007, which pretty much shot their bolt. (JMB) was planning to jailbreak the plotters of the Holey Artisan attack, said the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) yesterday after they nabbed Book 'im, Mahmoud! the arms supplier of the onslaught.
At a press briefing, RAB's Legal and Media Wing Director Mufti Mahmud Khan said: "They were planning an operation similar to the one in Trishal to free the attackers of Holey Artisan Bakery."
"The bandidosmurderous Moslems intended to snatch the prisoners [arrested in the Gulshan attack case], when they were being transported to court from different jails for trial," he added.
The elite force said they came upon the information after interrogating Md Mamunur Rashid alias Ripon alias Rezaul Karim alias Reza, a member of the banned holy warrior outfit JMB, who was arrested from Gazipur on January 19.
RAB alleged that Ripon is the suspected arms and explosive supplier, and financier for the attack on the upscale cafe in Dhaka on July 1 2016; recovered Tk1.5 lakh in cash during his arrest.
In 2014, in a cinematic operation, JMB members killed a policeman and snatched away three of their top detained operatives from a prison van in Trishal of Mymensingh.
RIPON REMANDED FOR FIVE DAYS
A Dhaka court has placed the suspected arms supplier Ripon on remand for five days.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Kanak Barua ordered the remand after RAB 3 Superintendent of Police Md Kafil Uddin produced accused Md Mamunur Rashid alias Ripon before court with a 10-day remand petition.
He has been placed on remand for a case filed with the Sabujbagh cop shoppe under the Anti-Terrorism Act last April.
'RIPON SENT TK39 LAKH, FIREARMS FOR THE GULSHAN ATTACK’
The suspected arms supplier, Ripon, allegedly sent Tk 39 lakh, firearms and explosives to Bangladesh for the 2016 attack, the elite force said at the presser.
RAB official Mufti Mahmud Khan said as per the decision of top JMB leaders, Ripon went to a neighbouring country to collect money, arms and explosives in April 2016.
"Ripon confessed that he sent around Tk39 lakh to Sarwar Jahan [chief of New JMB], from that country right before the attack in Holey Artisan bakery," said Mufti Mahmud Khan.

[Tennessee Star] The United States is expected to churn out far more oil in 2019 than what international analysts originally forecasted.
The International Energy Agency, a Paris-based organization that helps coordinate energy policies for industrial countries, released its latest oil market report Friday, noting exceptional numbers for the U.S. fossil fuel industry.
The agency reported U.S. oil production is expected to rise by 1.3 million barrels a day in 2019. While this number is lower than the record-smashing 2.1 million increase producers enjoyed in 2018, it’s more than double what the IEA initially expected to see in 2019.
The forecast illustrates the latest in the country’s shale oil boom, which has experienced unprecedented growth in recent years thanks to the emergence of hydraulic fracturing and an administration that has fostered a more conducive environment for fossil fuel development. Already, the U.S. is the largest international crude oil producer, with output expected to top 12 million barrels per day in 2019 and reach 12.9 million by 2020, according to the Energy Information Administration’s latest report.
Analysts predict the U.S. will keep blowing past its global competitors.
"By the middle of the year, US crude output will probably be more than the capacity of either Saudi Arabia or Russia," read a portion of EIA’s report, meaning it expects American companies to churn out more oil than what Saudi Arabia or Russia are even capable of producing.

[IsraelTimes] Jack Dorsey says he rejects most statements by far-right conspiracy theorist Ali Akbar, but thinks he makes ’interesting points’.
Dorsey acknowledged to the Huffington Post on Friday that he took advice from a figure known both as Ali Alexander and Ali Akbar. The Wall Street Journal first reported that Dorsey delayed the removal of provocateur and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones from Twitter on the advice of Akbar.
"I don’t act on all of his comments," Dorsey said of Akbar after the interviewer, Ashley Feinberg, read him a number of tweets by Akbar focusing on Jews. "I listen, and I think that’s the most important thing. I was introduced to him by a friend, and you know, he’s got interesting points. I don’t obviously agree with most. But, I think the perspective is interesting."
Akbar, on Twitter, frequently asks contentious interlocutors whether they are Jewish, and points out the Jewishness of figures whom he derides, like Bill Kristol, a conservative critic of President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... , and CNN anchor Jake Tapper. He tries to end arguments by accusing interlocutors of favoring "Jewish supremacy," and has said that Jews are "overrepresented" in the "liberal racist media and Hollywood." He also has praised Jews and Jewish practices, including Yom Kippur.
[AL AWSAT] A “triple bombardment” of the final ISIS enclave in eastern Syria was launched with the participation of the Iraqi air force and Syrian regime forces, in conjunction with the attack of US-backed Kurdish-Arab Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on an ISIS pocket in Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported.
Since September, SDF, a coalition of Kurdish and Arab factions, have been waging a military operation against the last enclave of the terrorist organization near the Iraqi border and managed to control much of the region.
The Observatory indicated that the International Coalition launched airstrikes on al-Baghuz village killing 6 civilians, including 4 children, as well as 10 terrorists. It added that the bombardment continued and increased since the attack of Manbij days ago.
On Wednesday, a suicide bomb attack killed seven people, including four US nationals, two soldiers and two civilians working for the US Department of Defense.
The attack was the bloodiest on US forces in the international coalition since the beginning of its military intervention in Syria against ISIS in 2014.
After taking control of Hajin and al-Susah villages, the Democratic Forces are currently seeking to expel the organization from its last outpost, near the village of Baghuz and its surroundings.
Since the beginning of last month, some 21,000 people have left the last enclave towards areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces, including 5,300 people who left as part of the evacuation agreements. Over 1,000 ISIS terrorist, who handed over their weapons to the Forces, were also among the people leaving the area.
Over the last two years, SDF have driven the extremist organization from large areas in the north and northeast of the country, most notably Raqqa, ISIS main stronghold in Syria.
The Syrian Observatory published that the SDF and the International Coalition Forces continue their military operations in Deir Ezzor countryside, against the remaining members of ISIS at the east bank of Euphrates River.
The Observatory also monitored the attack of Iraqi warplanes on the east of Euphrates, coinciding with the bombardment of Iranian forces and affiliated non-Syrian militias on the western bank of the Euphrates. At least 20 ISIS militants were killed.
The attack comes in conjunction with the ongoing violent clashes between ISIS remnants from one side, and the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces supported by ground forces of the International Coalition from the other, in the vicinity of al-Baghuz Foqani area and nearby villages from the east of the Euphrates, amid exchanged targeting on the fronts.

We have started striking Iranian Quds targets in Syrian territory. We warn the Syrian Armed Forces against attempting to harm Israeli forces or territory.
[Al Jazeera] The Israeli military says it is carrying out overnight strikes on Iranian targets in Syria, while Syrian state media is reporting that the country's air defences have shot down "hostile targets".
"We have started striking Iranian Quds targets in Syrian territory. We warn the Syrian Armed Forces against attempting to harm Israeli forces or territory," Israel's military said in a statement in the early hours of Monday.
News agency reports quoted witnesses in the Syrian capital, Damascus, as saying that loud kabooms rang out in the night sky.
The strikes followed cross-border attacks on Sunday in which Syria said it repelled an Israeli air attack.
Israel said it intercepted a rocket fired at the occupied Golan Heights.
[IsraelTimes] Bombings inflict heavy damage on weapons warehouses and military positions near airport and other areas, with casualties reported; Syria calls attack ’heavy’.
Massive Israeli Arclight airstrikes on Syria destroyed weapons stores and military positions belonging to Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah terror group, a war monitor said Monday.
The Israeli military said early Monday it was carrying out strikes against Iran’s Qud’s Forces, in a rare statement on its military activities in Syria.
"The Israeli missiles managed to destroy weapons depots and military posts of the Iranians and the Lebanese Hezbollah in the vicinity of Damascus International Airport and the area of al-Kiswah and Jamraya," the Britannia-based Observatory for Human Rights said.
The monitor said there had been casualties and extensive damage, without providing details. A news site in the southern Syrian city of Suweida reported that eight soldiers had been brought to a local hospital with injuries sustained during the Israeli strikes, including two who died.
There was no immediate confirmation of casualties from Damascus. Syria’s state-run media described the attack as "heavy" and said Israel had launched "consecutive waves of guided missiles." However, some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go... it claimed the majority of the missiles were shot down.
"Our air defenses responded effectively to an Israeli air attack targeting the southern region and prevented it from achieving any of its objectives,"SANA quoted a military source saying.
The airstrike was the second attack on the airport and al-Kiswah in as many days, after a rare daytime attack attributed to Israel on Sunday morning. Both locations have been attacked by Israel in the past and are thought to house Iranian or Hezbollah assets.
"Warehouses containing weapons for Syrian regime ally Hezbollah and Iranian fighters are located in that area," Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor, said Sunday.
Israel has accused Iran of seeking to establish a military presence in Syria that could threaten Israeli security and attempting to transfer advanced weaponry to the Hezbollah terror group in Leb.
Last year, the Israeli military said bases near al-Kiswah were used by pro-Iranian militias. An Iranian weapons depot at the airport was targeted in an airstrike a week and a half ago, Israel said.
Jamraya, which has also allegedly been attacked by Israel in the past, is thought to house a military facility and scientific research center.
The Israeli attack Monday morning was widely seen as a response to a surface to surface missile fired at Israel Sunday, apparently in retaliation for the earlier airstrikes.
Israel intercepted the missile near the Mount Hermon ski resort, but on Monday said it would shut the site, apparently signaling fears violence could continue to escalate.
For years, Israel has conducted airstrikes against Iranian and Hezbollah targets in Syria, which it considers threats to national security. However, some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go... those attacks typically take place under the cover of darkness.
The strike appeared to be the first major attacks carried out by the Israel Defense Forces since Aviv Kohavi took over as chief of staff last week.
The alleged strike Sunday came hours after a Syrian cargo plane touched down in the Damascus International Airport from Tehran, according to publicly available flight data. Israel and American defense officials have said these types of ostensibly civilian cargo planes are often used to transport advanced weaponry from Tehran to pro-Iranian militias, fighting in Syria, including the Hezbollah terror group.
Another flight from Iran, flown by Tehran’s Mahan Air carrier, was en route to Syria on Sunday afternoon, but turned back following the reported Israeli strikes, according to flight data. Mahan Air has been identified by defense officials as one of the cargo carriers suspected of ferrying war materiel from Iran to Syria. As a result, it is subject to sanctions by the US Treasury Department.

[Al Awsat] Morocco has asked the United Nations and the Security Council to put an end to the “violations and provocations” of the Polisario Front in the Guerguerat buffer zone.
In a letter seen by Asharq Al-Awsat on Friday, Morocco's UN Ambassador Omar Hilale cited three incidents from January 6 to 8 in which the Polisario staged drills, drove military vehicles in the buffer zone and opened up a new facility.
Morocco "strongly condemns these destabilizing actions" that violate a military agreement and "dangerously threaten the ceasefire," wrote Hilale.
He described the movements as "provocations" that could jeopardize UN-brokered talks on ending the Western Sahara conflict, and urged the Security Council and Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to condemn the Polisario.
Asked by Asharq Al-Awsat about the Moroccan letter, Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric said: “I can confirm that we've received the letter from Morocco alleging violations of the ceasefire and related agreements in Western Sahara.”
“There is an established procedure for assessing such allegations by either party undertaken by the UN Mission on the ground, based on the impartial monitoring and observation functions of our colleagues in Western Sahara,” Dujarric told a daily press briefing in New York.
“MINURSO was present at both of these alleged incidents and did not observe anything amounting to a violation under the terms of the applicable agreements.”
However, he stressed that “incidents or issues which are identified as being violations of the applicable agreements are shared with the parties for their immediate action, a process which has been effective in preventing conflict and maintaining the ceasefire since its inception.”
“Such violations are also reported to the Security Council as part of the mission's normal reporting procedures,” he added.

[IsraelTimes] Ankara accuses Metin Topuz, tossed in the calaboose Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'! since 2017, of helping coppers organize an attempted coup in 2013.
Ottoman Turkish prosecutors are seeking a life sentence for a local employee of the United States consulate in Istanbul accused of attempting to overthrow the government and espionage.
A 78-page indictment against Ottoman Turkish national Metin Topuz, tossed in the calaboose Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'! since October 2017, said Topuz was in "very intense contact" with coppers who led a 2013 anti-corruption investigation that implicated top government officials.
The Ottoman Turkish government accused US-based holy manFethullah Gülen ... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world... for attempting a coup with that investigation and labeled his network a terror group. Gulen is also blamed for a 2016 failed coup but he denies the accusations.
A judge will decide whether the case will proceed to trial.
Topuz’s arrest led to tension in US-The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... relations and to the suspension of bilateral visa services for more than two months.
The crisis triggered by the arrest saw accusations the US embassy in Ankara, which said at the time that the charges against Topuz were "wholly without merit."
US authorities then sought assurances from top Ottoman Turkish officials that no further staff members would be placed under investigation.
But Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey... had said it was Turkey’s right to take steps against "an internal threat."
The US suspended considering visa applications saying it wanted to reassess Turkey’s commitment to the safety of US personnel. Turkey retaliated by halting visas services in the US.
Ties between the two NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions... allies were already strained over Gulen’s presence in the United States and Washington’s support for Syrian Kurdish militia, whom Turkey considers to be Lions of Islam because of their links to Kurdish Lions of Islam fighting Turkey. Separate indictments in the US against Erdogan’s bodyguards who were embroiled in violence and against the banker and a former Ottoman Turkish economy minister accused of conspiring to violate US sanctions had deepened the rift.
State-run Anadolu Agency said in 2017 that Topuz had allegedly communicated with former police chiefs in a 2013 corruption probe ‐ which the government claims was instigated by Gulen’s supporters ‐ and with other officers allegedly involved in the attempted coup. Gulen denies involvement in the coup attempt.
The US ambassador at the time said it was part of Topuz’s duty to be in contact with coppers.

[Dhaka Tribune] Even though the Holey Artisan attack took place almost three years ago, it is not a tragedy we can afford to forget.
The incident revealed the extent to which Death Eater ideologies had infiltrated our society and serves to remind us of the innocent lives which may be lost if we cease to be careful.
Indeed, when it comes to the corrupting forces of extremism, we as a nation must always remain vigilant.
The fact that, last Thursday, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Counter-terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit seized an alarming cache of firearms, ammunition, and explosives from a residence in Baridhara DOHS further illustrates the need for law enforcement to continue to prioritize the fight against militancy and extremism.
In a country that was founded on the values of secularism and tolerance, there can be no room for ideologies which spread hatred and violence.
At the same time, we must remember that it is not enough to merely capture the gunnies which exist, but ensure that individuals are not radicalized in the future.
In this regard, the CTTC’s capacity building program -- which focuses on building awareness, de-radicalization, counter-radicalization, and rehabilitation -- is a praiseworthy step which focuses on the long-term efforts required to ensure that militancy ceases to be a threat in the future.
The government’s efforts to root out militancy so far have been commendable, and it is heartening to see the PM’s assurance that countering such violent extremism will remain a priority for the adminstration moving forward.

[Al Jazeera] The United Nations ...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society... refugee agency for Paleostinians said Israeli authorities did not inform the group of a plan regarding shutting down UNRWA-run schools in occupied East Jerusalem.
Israeli media reported that the state's National Security Council will revoke permits allowing UNRWA schools to operate starting next school year. The schools will be replaced by schools run by the Jerusalem municipality, supported by Israel's education ministry.
"UNRWA's existence in Jerusalem is not a gift from Israel," Sami Meshasha, the spokesperson for the agency said in a press statement on Sunday.
"There are bilateral agreements binding on Israel to respect the agency's installations, jurisdiction and immunity in Jerusalem," he said.
"In addition, Israel is a party to the 1946 Refugee Convention, and such attempts are in violation of this Convention."
UNRWA runs seven schools in two refugee camps in occupied East Jerusalem, serving a total of 3,000 students.
The Israeli plan is the latest blow to the agency, after the United States's decision last year to halt its funding.
Hanan Ashrawi, a member of the Paleostinian Liberation Organisation executive committee, said the Israeli decision is "a direct insult to the international community and disregard for its laws and decisions and institutions".
The Times of Israel has the Israeli perspective here.

[France24] Gunmen killed at least ten Chadian UN peacekeepers and injured 25 others in an attack Sunday on one of their bases in northern Mali, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres confirmed an information previously announced by a source close to the MINUSMA force. Guterres strongly condemned what he described as a "complex attack" on the UN peace mission's camp in Aguelhok, 200 kilometres (125 miles) north of Kidal and towards the border with Algeria.
"Ten peacekeepers from Chad were killed and at least 25 injured," said a statement from UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric.
"MINUSMA forces responded robustly and a number of assailants were killed," Dujarric said, without specifying the toll.
An al Qaeda-linked Islamist group grabbed credit for the attack.
The Nusrat al-Islam wal Moslemeen group said the attack was a response to Chadian President Idriss Deby's revival of diplomatic relations with Israel in a statement posted on Telegram.
Mahamat Saleh Annadif, the UN envoy for Mali, condemned what he called a "vile and criminal" attack."Peacekeepers of the MINUSMA force at Aguelhok fought off a sophisticated attack by assailants who arrived on several armed vehicles," he said in a statement.
The attack "illustrates the determination of the terrorists to sow chaos."

Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... Protection Force (TPF) said it had controlled different southern Tripoli areas, adding that the attacking forces had retreated to their previous locations.
TPF said on Facebook Saturday that the 7th Brigade had suffered great losses in all frontlines in southern Tripoli after they had foiled their attacks, depriving them a foothold in Tripoli.
"We're continuing our military operations in all fighting zones until we end the presence of the attacking brigades. Afterwards, we will hand control of all areas to the security apparatuses after being secured." TPF explained.
According to sources, the 7th Brigade has lost all locations and retreated to Tarhouna city and it built sand barriers at the entrance of Fam Mulgha checkpoint in west of the city.
Eyewitnesses in Qasir Benghashir said calm has descended on the district and other southern parts of Tripoli as fighting headed toward Tarhouna, where the 7th Brigade is positioned.
11 people - mostly fighters - have been killed and 43 others have been injured due to the festivities, the front man of the Health Ministry, Ameen al-Hashmi said.
Al-Hashmi said conflicting reports about casualties on media were intentional, adding that he can confirm that no more than 11 had been killed and 43 maimed.

The Talibs group has claimed that an attack has been carried out against a convoy of the Special Forces in Pashtun-infested Logar province.

Nasir Ghairat, member of Pashtun-infested Logar Provincial Council said the incident occurred in Safid Sang area in Mohammad Agha district of the province.
[Al Jazeera] The political crisis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo ...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material... deepened on Sunday when the Constitutional Court confirmed the win of Felix Tshisekedi, rejecting claims of fraud, and runner-up Martin Fayulu promptly declared himself the country's "only legitimate president".
Fayulu's supporters have alleged an extraordinary backroom deal between outgoing President Joseph Kabila to rig the vote in favour of the opposition after the ruling party's candidate did so poorly that a Plan B was needed. Neither side has acknowledged the accusations.
The court, however, said Fayulu offered no proof to back his assertions that he had won easily based on leaked data attributed to the electoral commission.

Its been a shithole ever since the Belgians threw it away.
[Al Jazeera] Gazoo's health ministry has made an urgent appeal for help amid an ongoing fuel crisis in the coastal territory, warning of a "catastrophic situation" at its hospitals, including at a children's facility.
Ashraf al-Qidra, spokesperson of Gazoo's health ministry, said five hospitals in the Paleostinian territory would stop operating within hours, because generators are unable to operate due to the fuel shortage.
Last week, Beit Hanoun hospital in northern Gazoo stopped operating.
"The lives of hundreds of patients in Gazoo hospitals are under a threat of dire consequences," al-Qidra said.
Due to cold weather and increasing hours of electricity cuts, fuel consumption has increased, leaving stocks in the five hospitals down to 17 percent, al-Qidra said.
"The austerity measures taken by the ministry are in their final moments," he said.
At the al-Rantisi hospital, Sufian Salem was waiting with his one-year old child, Mohammed, who has a breathing problem.
"He is my youngest child. He always suffers of shortness of breath with his face turning blue, so we have to rush to the hospital at any time," Salem, 36, said.
The father of five said he is unable to afford a special breathing device for his son to use at home.
"We feel very concerned due to the news of fuel crisis in hospitals. It's a disaster. If the hospital stopped, where we would go? All patient children would die, not only my child," he said.

After posting that "Immigration is a good thing for British culture" I guess she had no choice but to not blame the responsible party. Got a handle on that cognitive dissonance problem yet? Apparently not.
So who else is she supposed to blame except for the one she figures won't hurt her no matter what? 0bumhole did a lot of that too and it worked out so well.

Given that self-defense is illegal in Britain, if the men tried to help her, they would have gone to jail and been sued but the criminals. They have nothing but negative incentives to provide aid to anyone, even their own families really.
Face the reality England, you are once again nothing less than the property of your government, you willfully put the collars of serfdom around your neck.

In addition to that, you have no idea what you're getting into by jumping into some street ruckus. Is it a domestic dispute gone public? A buddy in the cop biz says domestic disputes tend ugly because both parties end up fighting with you.
Is the perp armed or on drugs? Either one skews the game and not in your favor. All in all, without some kind of training, a lot of risk to take for someone you don't know. [PRESSTV] Russia has warned the American destroyer USS Donald Cook deployed in the Black Sea against approaching Russian coasts, stressing that Moscow is closely watching and monitoring the warship’s actions.
Visits to the Black Sea by US warships have nothing to do with US security and are motivated by domestic politics, said Russian senator Alexei Pushkov on Sunday.
"US warships are becoming frequent visitors to the Black Sea. These visits have nothing to do with US security," Pushkov, a member of Russia’s Upper House Commission on Information Policy, wrote on his Twitter page.
"They flaunt their flag, send us a signal, and appease their own senators, who are demanding they send a whole military fleet to the Black Sea. They should keep away from our coastline," he warned.
The US guided-missile destroyer Donald Cook began moving towards the Black Sea on Saturday, less than two weeks after another US Navy vessel was deployed there.

[Dhaka Tribune] The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in a drive, has locked away Into the paddy wagon wit' yez! a JMB member in a drive, named in the charge sheet of the 2016 Holey Artisan attack.
A team of RAB 3 arrested Md Mamunur Rashid, alias Ripon, alias Rezaul Karim, alias Reza, with Tk1.5 lakh from the Board Bazar area of Gazipur on January 19.
Most commonly known as Ripon, this Death Eater was not only an accused in the charge sheet of the sensational Holey Artisan case but was also a key supplier of money, arms, and explosives for the Death Eater attack.
Ripon, 30, son of late Nasiruddin of Shekhermaria village in Nandigram upazila of Bogra, was a member of the Majlish-e-Sura unit of banned Death Eater outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh The JMB is said to be the youth front of Al Mujahideen, the parent organization that began working toward establishing Bangladesh as an Islamic state in the mid 1990s, which remains obscure and probably defunct today. (JMB), RAB's Legal and Media Wing Director Mufti Mahmud Khan said in a briefing on Sunday.
Initial interrogation found that Ripon was born in Bogra in 1988 and started his education in a local primary school.
His father later admitted him to a madrasa after he finished his third-grade. He studied in various madrasas in Bogra’s Nandigram, Naogaon, and Dhaka’s Mirpur area.
In 2009, he completed the Dawra-e-Hadith degree from Madrasatul Darul Hadith in Chapai Nawabganj. He then completed an office application course from Cyber Tech computer training centre in Bogra and started working for the centre.
HOW HE GOT INVOLVED IN MILITANCY
According to Ripon’s confession, he got involved in militancy in 2013 while he was working at the Cyber Tech computer centre. He was drawn into militancy by one Dr Nazrul, who he knew from before.
As he got involved in JMB, Dr Nazrul gave him a new organizational name, "Ripon," even though he was known to all as "Rashid." His main job was to collect funds from members in select areas and hand them over to Nazrul, who was the JMB Ameer of the area at the time. Ripon soon gained the trust of his superiors and debuted as Nazrul’s second-in-command.
In a short time, he made a name for himself in the inner circle of JMB for his innovative activities and competence in collecting funds for the organization.
Later, through various interactions with JMB Ameer Sarwar Jahan, he came to know several Death Eatercriminal masterminds, including Abdullah, a major supporter and benefactor of the Death Eaters.
WHAT HAPPENED AT HOLEY ARTISAN?
On July 1, 2016, button men stormed the Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka’s Gulshan area and opened fire. A total of 22 people, including 17 foreign nationals and two coppers, were killed in the attack.
On July 2018, police submitted a charge sheet against eight bandidosturbans allegedly involved with the Holey Artisan Bakery attack in Gulshan, Dhaka.
Some 21 members of the Death Eater outfit New JMB, a faction of banned Death Eater group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), were found to have been involved in the planning and execution of the attack, according to the charge sheet.
In November, 2018, a Dhaka court charged eight bandidosturbans in connection with the 2016 terror attack on the Holey Artisan Bakery.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The front man for the coalition fighting to support the legitimate Yemeni government told news hounds on Sunday that overnight operations targeted Houthi ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ... drone capabilities across several sites in Sanaa.
At his weekly presser in Riyadh, Col. Turki al-Maliki said that the Houthis received drones from Tehran and offered satellite images showing Iranian-made "Ababil-T" Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) at specific Houthi-held bases in the capital.
"For more than a year, the Houthis have been attacking Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... ’s vital areas, such as Abha’s airport and tried to attack Aramco," al-Maliki said.
The coalition spokesperson also showed images proving the Houthis had access to the Iranian single-engine medium-altitude long-endurance drone "Shahed 129".
He said that a coalition operation in Sanaa late on Saturday targeted a Houthi site used in the manufacturing and assembly of drones and an air base in eastern Sanaa which was previously used as a launch pad site for Surface-to-Air (SAM) type 6 air defense systems.
"The Houthis are trying to use civilians as human shields, but we have taken all precautions," al-Maliki said.
Sources said the operation late on Saturday targeted several Houthi-held camps including one which was formally called the First Armored Division camp when it was held by the Yemeni army before the Houthis took over.
The al-Siyana, al-Hifa’a and the al-Nahdain military compounds as well as the al-Dailami air base were also targeted.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Sudanese security forces fired tear gas on Sunday at several hundred protesters and chased them down side streets, a Rooters witness said, as anti-government protests entered their second month.
The protesters had blocked Al Arbaeen street, one of the main arteries in Omdurman, across the Nile from the centre of the capital, Khartoum. Some raised two fingers in victory signs as tear gas was fired at them.
About 30 trucks carrying security personnel, some in uniform and some in plain clothes, were deployed to the area.
Near daily demonstrations triggered by a worsening economic crisis have shaken Sudan since Dec. 19. Protesters have called for an end to President Omar al-Bashir Head of the National Congress Party. He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself president-for-life. He has fallen out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it. ’s three-decade rule, blaming him for the country’s problems.

[Rudaw] Three civilians were reported killed in an kaboom in Afrin city on Sunday ‐ the one year anniversary of the launch of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... ’s offensive on the Kurdish enclave in northwestern Syria.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported "the death of at least 3 people in the bombing and more than 9 others were maimed."
The three who died are civilians, and holy warriors were among the maimed, the head of the Observatory told AFP.
The UK-based conflict monitor expects the corpse count to rise as some of the injured are at death's door.
The bombing was an kaboom that "targeted an internal transport bus" in the city centre, according to the White Helmets, volunteer first responders working in opposition-held areas of Syria.
Their teams in Afrin were at the scene helping with rescue operations.
No group has immediately grabbed credit.
Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey... said the "terror attack" in Afrin will not deter Turkey from its missions in Afrin, and areas around Jarabulus, Anadolu Agency reported.
Afrin was taken over by Ottoman Turkish forces and their allied Syrian militias after a two-month offensive that was launched on January 20, 2018. The offensive ended when the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) chose to withdraw from the largest city, also named Afrin, in order to prevent civilian casualties.
But the region has subsequently seen rising violence and insecurity.
Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian militias have looted Kurdish shops and homes, settled Arab families displaced from other parts of the country in villages and cities, stolen from lucrative olive oil businesses, and kidnapped and killed Kurdish residents deemed to have ties with the YPG.
The YPG has continued a guerilla-style resistance in the enclave ‐ targeting militias and Ottoman Turkish troops in hit-and-run raids.
In a statement marking the anniversary on Sunday, the YPG said the human rights ...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions... situation in Afrin is "dire" and vowed to increase its struggle against the invading forces.

Erdogan said an attack that left four Americans dead last week in Manbij was an act of provocation aimed at affecting Trump’s decision last month to withdraw US troops from Syria.
The attack occurred nearly a month after Trump confounded his own national security team with the surprise decision on Dec. 19 to withdraw all 2,000 US troops from Syria, declaring ISIS bad boy group had been defeated there.
ISIS grabbed credit for Wednesday’s attack.
Manbij is controlled by US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a militia allied to the US-backed Kurdish YPG, which last month invited Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Leveler of Latakia... into the area around the town to forestall a potential Ottoman Turkish assault.
Ankara deems the YPG faceless myrmidons linked to the Kurdish PKK movement that has waged a decades-long insurgency on Ottoman Turkish soil.
Erdogan and Trump agreed to accelerate and continue discussions between their chiefs of staff regarding a safe zone in the area, the statement said.

[Libya Observer] Armed groups in southern Libyan cities of Murziq and Sabha have rejected joining the operation forces of the self-styled army of Khalifa Haftar ...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all... after arriving in Taminhint to control the southern region.
"Such a rejection will be a hindrance to the military operation in southern Libya to end the presence of terrorist, criminals and Chadian mercenaries." Sources close to Haftar said.
The sources added that Ahrar Fezzan, Shuhadaa Sabha, and Shuhadaa Waw brigades, as well as Shuhadaa Murziq and Um al-Aranib brigades, are funded and supported by the Defense Ministry of the Presidential Council, hence reject joining Haftar's forces or giving them control of their cities.
"This could lead to festivities between forces of the National Army and the rejecting brigades." The sources added.
The self-styled army in eastern Libya, led by Haftar, has launched a military operation to advance on the southwestern districts in Libya to "secure and protect the residents from forces of Evil and criminal groups."
The operation is aimed, according to Haftar's forces, to protect the people from the forces of Evil and criminals who work for foreign parties to change the topography of Libyan and its identity.

[PRESSTV] A national general strike is the fastest way to end the ongoing government shutdown in the United States, an American political analyst says, as an impasse between Democrats and President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... over his border wall is about to enter the fifth week.
"The highest priority at the moment is opening the government but how to get it done is loaded with very unrealistic solutions," Myles Hoenig, a former Green Party candidate told Press TV Sunday.
"Probably the fastest way to resolve the shutdown is for there to be a general strike in the US. Not just the babus government employees and their state government allies but a real national general strike, something this country is not used to," he added.
Earlier in the day, Republican Representative Lee Zeldin suggested that Trump and all members of Congress should be locked in a room and left unpaid until they reach a deal to end the longest ever US government shutdown.
The bizarre statement came after Democrats rejected an offer by Trump to end the shutdown, which began on December 22 over the president’s plea for $5.7 billion to build his controversial wall on the US-Mexico border.

The way to deal with this is easy, track down all the people pushing the narrative and do it to them. Get in their face screaming and ask them "How many people will you lie about today to get what you want?" Expose their lies, their lives and their sins. Red flag them to the police as a danger to themselves and others because they are. Destroy their lives and it will stop. It doesn't need to be all of them, just 5-6 before the rest learn the lesson.

"At 5:20 pm today, Ottoman Turkish military jets intensely bombarded Shikan village in the Sidakan area," Ihsan Chalabi, mayor of Sidakan, told Rudaw.
There were no casualties or significant damage in three rounds of bombardments, he said.
"In the past 15 years of military jet strikes, it the first time that this area, close to the centre of Sidakan town, was bombarded," added the mayor.
Shikan is just three kilometers from the centre of Sidakan.
Turkey regularly carried out Arclight airstrikes against alleged PKK positions in the Kurdistan Region mountains.
They usually target sparsely populated areas, but years of bombing have pushed hundreds of villagers out of their homes, made pastures off limits, and destroyed forests.

[DailyWire] On Tuesday, Egard Watch Company released an advertisement on YouTube in response to Gillette’s controversial ad regarding alleged "toxic masculinity."
The video features footage of men in various situations ‐ from fighting fires to hugging their children ‐ while the company’s founder, Ilan Srulovicz, narrates. The footage and narration are accompanied by sobering statistics relating to men.
"What is a man?" Srulovicz asks as a fireman carries a child from a burning building. "Is a man brave?" The on-screen text reads: "Men account for 93% of workplace fatalities." The number comes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
"Is a man a hero? Is a man a protector? Is a man vulnerable? Is a man disposable? Is a man broken? Is a man trying?"
As each of the above questions are asked, the following statistics are shown on the screen: Site linked. You can even design your own watch!

Going with actual statistics as opposed to vacuous anecdotes and stereotypes is brilliant. The commercial will be deeply despised by the usual suspects for that reason alone.

64:1 likes vs. dislikes speaks to the percentage of people on this planet who go along with the toxic masculinity thing. Interesting how such a tiny fraction of the population can be presented with such force. I wonder who enables this.
