-Lurid Crime Tales-
FBI says John Boehner's West Chester bartender planned to poison him
[WCPO] DEER PARK, Ohio Ebola, evil voices and the devil.

Those are just a few of the things a Butler County bartender cited as reasons he was going to kill House Speaker John It is not pronounced 'Boner!' Boehner
... the occasionally weepy leader of House Republicans...
this past fall, federal agents said.

Michael Robert Hoyt, 44, was indicted Jan. 7 on charges of threatening to murder the congressman in a plot police said included poisoning his drink at a country club.

Hoyt served drinks to Boehner for more than five years at the Wetherington Country Club in West Chester and was known as Bartender Mike to employees there.

Hoyt called police on Oct. 29, a week after being fired from the club, and blamed Boehner for his woes, police said.

When officers visited Hoyt at his home on Matson Avenue in Deer Park, they said the plot thickened.

Hoyt told the officer he was Jesus Christ and he was going to kill Boehner because Boehner was mean to him at the country club and because Boehner is responsible for Ebola, United States Capitol Police (USCP) Special Agent Christopher M. Desrosiers said. Hoyt advised he had a loaded Beretta .380 automatic and he was going to shoot Boehner and take off.

Officers said Hoyt told them he regretted not having enough time to put something in Boehners drink. It was also discovered Hoyt emailed Boehners wife about the plot a day before he called police, Desrosiers said.

The following is an email conversation between Debbie Boehner and Hoyt on Oct. 28, according to Sherlocks:

'Enough is enough!': Boehner fills House chamber with high drama as he lashes out against Obama in high-stakes immigration battle
[DAILYMAIL.CO.UK]
  • House speaker mocks Obama for going outside the US Constitution after teaching constitutional law
  • President 'has ignored the people, ignored the Constitution, and even his own past statements'
  • Republicans aim to use Homeland Security funding bill to kill Obama's plan to mainstream 5 million or more illegal immigrants
  • White House promises to veto the plan and most Democrats will support him setting up epic showdown and possibly a DHS shutdown
  • GOP budget amendment that would hamstring Obama passed 237-190

#1  Is this Boehner or a stunt double?

Did he go to Switzerland and get a testicle transplant?

Or did the palace revolt by the conservative GOP startle him into remembering he is a Republican and not a Democrat?

#2  I am not convinced by his rhetoric. Boehner will likely be golfing again with the Champ within a fortnight.
Posted by: Besoeker || 01/15/2015 1:32 Comments || Top||

#3  What an asshole - he passes a spending bill during the lame duck session funding every fucking thing under the sun, and now pulls this completely transparent stunt.

Might as well go rub Obama's balls on the first tee...
Posted by: Raj || 01/15/2015 1:52 Comments || Top||

#4  This is what I expected.
To avoid a government shutdown and the associated hand wringing fluffy bunny grandma's in danger crap from the media, Congress passed a spending bill.

After the first of the year and the new congress is sworn in, Congress then begins to appropriate and authorize spending. It is not uncommon to authorize a program in the budget and then to withhold funding in the authorization bills.

This way Congress can cherry pick what to defund or not authorize.

The problem with the budget process is that it is an all or nothing process, the budget has to be approved as a single document and there is no line item veto.

I think what they are doing is similar to what Reagan did with the budget before he got a Republican House to work with him, sign the budget in the fall and then gut it in the appropriations/spending authorization process.

#5  Well put Bill. There are so many nuances to the whole legislative process, especially with the budget, that it is very hard to know what certain things mean.

Voting for or against things in committee, for example, can depend not on ones feeling about the subject but about when and how it gets sent to the floor. Byzantine ain't the half of it.

#6  Far more smoke than fire here, I suspect.

#7  ..well, there's fire from the old party Trunks. Wonder how much of the 'support' he got for keeping his seat was lukewarm at best. Excuse my expression, but this is just Byzantine politics in the Beltway among the inner party (see-Chinese current readjustments). Salt in that it appears that Caesar Prez is definitely in the drain cycle on the other side of the aisle for added effect. It costs nothing to play to the masses (Friends, Romans, Countrymen....).

#8  Kabuki. Make a big noise, pass a bill, El Presidente vetos, not enough votes to cover, inevitable cave.

#9  Agreed. Just low theater for the gullible. Boehner ***likes*** amnesty, and in the end amnesty will win and we will all lose.

#10  Lashing out, is he? Lashing out? Mr. Speaker's problem here is not amnesty. RINOs want amnesty. They just don't like it when the president ignores them. What's Boner gonna do when Champ vetoes the budget amendment? Will he hold firm? Will there be some tough negotiations? Will there be some reduction in spending? Or will he cave like he's always done in the past?

#12  I do love the ironic position Obama will be in if this bill hits his desk. If he veto's it he will be seen as willingly put homeland security at risk over illegals. He is in a no win situation. This should be fun.

House GOP Centrists Push Back on Immigration
[NATIONALJOURNAL] Republican moderates fired a shot across the bow of House GOP leaders Wednesday, warning them not to push too far in their battle against President B.O.'s immigration policies.

The House voted 236-191 to approve a measure funding the Homeland Security Department while simultaneously defunding President B.O.'s unilateral action to provide temporary deportation deferrals and work permits to millions of undocumented immigrants. But an earlier vote, on an amendment blocking Obama's 2012 executive order providing deportation deferrals to undocumented immigrants who arrived to the U.S. as children, was tighter, with 26 Republicans joining every Democrat to oppose the language.

Those votes could be even more crucial going forward, when House Republicans enter negotiations with their Senate counterparts and Obama on a final Homeland Security bill. If GOP leaders go too far in catering to their conservative immigration bloc, they could drive those moderates awayand imperil their reelections in 2016.

On Wednesday morning, House leadership held a flurry of meetings to garner more votes for the anti-DACA amendment, which was authored by Rep. Marsha Blackburn, a Tennessee Republican. The House took a similar vote in August, when 11 members voted against repealing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

This time around, more than twice as many Republicans voted against a similar provision. Many of thoseincluding a group of GOP members who represent large Latino populations, particularly Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart and Jeff Denhampressured leaders not to send the message that they are in favor of deporting some of their constituents, said staff and member sources. Other GOP moderates were miffed that House leaders chose to vote on an amendment sponsored by Blackburn, who has often been critical of leadership and who voted against the omnibus spending bill last year.

4 top Secret Service executives told to leave their posts in agency shake-up
[Washington Post] The Secret Service has decided to remove four of its most bigwigs while a fifth has decided to retire, the biggest management shake-up at the troubled agency since its director resigned in October after a string of security lapses, according to people familiar with internal discussions.

The departures would gut much of the Secret Services upper management, which has been criticized by politicians and administration officials in recent months for fostering a culture of distrust between agency leaders and its rank-and-file, and for making poor decisions that helped erode quality.

Acting Director Joseph P. Clancy on Tuesday informed the four assistant directors who oversee the Secret Services core missions of protection, investigations, technology and public affairs that they must leave their posts within 30 days.

If they do not resign or retire, they can report for a new assignment with the Secret Services parent agency, the Department of Homeland Security, according to people familiar with the discussions.

The assistant director in charge of training, who also headed President B.O.s protective detail, announced in recent weeks that he would retire.

#3  The Secret Service has been hitting a lot of turbulence lately. They used to be part of the Treasury Dept, but were transfered to the somewhat useless Dept of Homeland Security around 2003. Are their problems related to that move or were they just better at keeping a lid on things back when they were highly regarded?

#7  A spokesman for the venerable service said under a condition of anonymity that institutional hatred for a man they know is not even a United States citizen has made it very difficult for anyone to commit to "taking one for the president." She added, "I mean, these Obama people are the same that grampa gave his life fighting against in WWII!"
