Egypt's Catholics Denounce 'Terrorist' Violence
[An Nahar] Egypt's Coptic Catholic
...Not a typo, they've been in full communion with the Catholic church for several centuries, though the Wikipedia entry is remarkably unclear about exactly which of several years is the key one. As of 2010 there were 163,630 members of the sect in Egypt, in comparison to Orthodox Copts, who number 10-12 million...
community on Monday offered its support for the armed forces against what it defined as "terrorist" violence by supporters of deposed Islamist president Mohammed Morsi.

In a message relayed by the Italian episcopal news agency SIR, Catholic Coptic Patriarch Ibrahim Isaac Sidrak said there were no real divisions between Christians and Musselmens in Egypt.

He also thanked the military and the police in Egypt "for all their efforts in protecting the country".

The patriarch said he "categorically rejected any internal inference in Egypt's internal affairs".

"We thank all those of our fellow Musselmen citizens who have shown themselves to be so close to us and have tried to defend our churches and institutions," he said.

Dozens of Christian churches, schools and shops have been torched in Egypt in recent days, many by Morsi supporters.

"This is not a political conflict between different factions but a struggle by all Egyptians against terrorism," the patriarch said.

Monsignor Yohanna Golta, auxiliary Catholic bishop in Alexandria, said that "Christians and Musselmens in Egypt are being persecuted by the Moslem Brüderbund".

"This is not a Christian-Musselmen problem since it is an Egyptian problem. Everything happening is against the Egyptian people," Golta said on Vatican radio.

Arabs ready to cover cuts in foreign aid to Egypt: Saudi
[Al Ahram] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
said on Monday that Arab and Islamic countries will step in to help Egypt if Western nations cut aid packages to Cairo over a crackdown on Islamist protesters.

"To those who have announced they are cutting their aid to Egypt, or threatening to do that, (we say that) Arab and Moslem nations are rich... and will not hesitate to help Egypt," Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal said in a statement carried by SPA state news agency.

Prince Saud was speaking upon his return from La Belle France, where he held talks with President Francois Hollande
...the Socialist president of La Belle France, an economic bad joke for la Belle France but seemingly a foreign policy realist...
, who strongly condemned violence in Egypt.

Hundreds of people have been killed in the North African country since security forces began a clampdown on Moslem Brüderbund protests last week.

US Senator John Maverick McCain
... the Senator-for-Life from Arizona, former presidential candidate and even more former foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution...
called on Washington to suspend its $1.3 billion in annual aid to Egypt's military after it overthrew Islamist president Mohamed Morsi on 3 July.

But some US politicians have expressed concern
...meaning the brow was mildly wrinkled, the eyebrows drawn slightly together, and a thoughtful expression assumed, not that anything was actually done or indeed that any thought was actually expended...
that cutting off aid could endanger the peace treaty with Israel or compromise US privileges with regard to the Suez Canal.

Foreign ministers of the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
are to hold emergency talks on Wednesday to review the bloc's relations with Cairo.

At stake is nearly five billion euros ($6.7 billion) in loans and grants promised by the world's top aid donor to Egypt for 2012-2013. It includes one billion euros from the EU with the rest from European banks the EIB and EBRD.

Human rights Watch demands halt to live ammo use in Egypt
[Al Ahram] Human Rights Watch
... dedicated to bitching about human rights violations around the world...
called on the Egyptian government Monday to stop using live ammunition against protesters, as it challenged the official corpse count from day one of the ongoing crisis.
Does HRW demand that the Brüderbünd stop using live ammo on the police?

The Egyptian police may not be Peelers, but they have to defend themselves. If they can't they end up like those two dozen schlubbs in the Sinai, dragged out of a bus and executed.
In a statement, the New York-based human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
group said the large-scale use of live ammunition was not only unjustified, but also a failure to abide by international policing standards.

With the corpse count mounting every day, Egypt's military rulers should "urgently reverse" police instructions to use live ammunition to protect state buildings, it said.

Such lethal force should be used "only when strictly necessary to protect life," it added.

Egypt must get back to 'inclusive approach': US
[Al Ahram] US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel urged Egypt's military rulers to take an "inclusive" approach to governing but said Washington's influence was limited after security forces launched a brutal crackdown.

Hagel reiterated Washington's appeal for dialogue amid ongoing bloodshed in Egypt but acknowledged that the United States could not dictate events there.

"The interim government of Egypt must get back to an inclusive approach to reconciliation in Egypt," Hagel said during a joint news conference at the Pentagon with his Chinese counterpart, General Chang Wanquan.

Hagel has had more than 15 phone conversations with Egypt's army chief, General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, since the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi.

Egypt to 'review' foreign aid, rely on Gulf assistance
[Al Ahram] Faced with international threats to withdraw financial aid in response to its crackdown on supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi, Egypt's interim government is responding defiantly and pinning its hopes on continued assistance from the Gulf.

Several nations reacted to the clearing of two Cairo protests camps by Morsi supporters and members of the president's Moslem Brüderbund by security forces on Wednesday, which left hundreds dead and many more injured, by leveraging their economic assistance to the cash-strapped Arab nation.

The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
, which is meeting on Monday to discuss relations with Egypt, will likely suspend 5 billion euros ($6.7 billion) in aid pledged by the bloc last November, according to statements by European officials and experts in previous days.

For its part, the United States has, according to anonymous administration officials cited by the New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
on Sunday, taken steps to suspend the $250 million in annual civilian economic aid to Egypt, while it debates the fate of the remaining $1.3 military assistance package.

Egypt's response has been intransigent, going as far as to question the very necessity of such aid.

The outrage was most fiercely expressed by the Rebel campaign (Tamarod), which led the petition drive and the protests that led to Morsi's ouster in July.

The military-backed movement launched on its official website a petition to demand the cancellation of both US aid and the 1979 Camp David peace treaty between Egypt and Israel, in a initiative labeled "Reviving National Sovereignty."

The Egyptian government has naturally been more measured in its reaction, though no less resolute in condemning what it sees as an affront on Egypt's national illusory sovereignty.

Speaking at a presser on Sunday, Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy told news hounds he condemned "attempts to internationalize Egypt's problems" as well as "threats to stop assistance to Egypt" by members of the international community.

"As a result," the minister went on defiantly, "I have tasked the concerned bodies in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to review the foreign aid received by Egypt to decide whether this assistance is being used in the best interest of many and whether it achieves the hoped-for results."

NSF says Egypt facing attempts by Muslim Brotherhood to overthrew state
[Al Ahram] The National Salvation Front (NSF), anti-Brotherhood party coalition umbrella, said on Monday that both the country and its people are facing attacks from what it described as "organized terrorist groups," and that the country is still determined to follow the roadmap to democratic civilian rule.

NSF members said in a press conference that the attacks that occurred early Monday on army conscripts in Sinai is part of terrorist organizations' war on the country and its people.

"Egypt is facing violence and attempts to overthrew the state by the Muslim Brotherhood. Both the state with all its institutions along with its people are facing one enemy and that is terrorism," NSF's statement read.

The attacks targeted conscripts heading to their barracks in Rafah, killing at least 25 and injuring two.

Security officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Ahram Online it was an execution-style murder.

The Front has praised the "historic" role of the army and police facing the attacks that "aim to destroy the country and its people."

The main Egyptian party coalition umbrella has praised the role of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Bahrain in supporting the Egyptian transitional government in its "war against terrorism." They also criticized some countries' "double-standards" towards the current Egyptian situation.

NSF has seen internal divides since the bloody crackdown on the pro-Morsi sit-ins in Rabaa Al-Adawiya and Nahda Square, leaving at least 600 dead after the dispersal and subsequent clashes.

The Front said that it is a coalition of political parties and that the absence of some individuals from the press conference does not hinder the NSF's mission.

The official spokesman for the NSF, Khaled Dawoud, resigned on Friday in protest at the group's support for police violence against supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi.

The NSF has also criticized former vice president Mohamed ElBaradei's resignation from his official post.

ElBaradei was the NSF's general coordinator from December 2012 until July 2013, before he resigned to take up the post as vice president for foreign affairs in Egypt's interim government.

If a ship is sinking, nobody will survive: Egypt's Mufti
[Al Ahram] Egypt's top Islamic holy man said on Monday that Islam "forbids" possessing arms during peaceful demonstrations, amid a wave of violence in the country that has left hundreds dead since last week.

Egypt's grand Mufti Shawki Allam has condemned "violence and terrorismin all its forms" and deplored the "destruction" and violations committed against religious buildings, in reference to a flurry of torching dozens of churches in several parts of the country in recent days.

Allam's speech came after 25 army conscripts were killed on Monday by faceless myrmidons in Sinai.

Tensions have been simmering in Egypt after more than 600 were killed when security forces forcibly broke up two protest camps set up by loyalists of toppled Islamist leader Mohamed Morsi last week.

Violence flared in Cairo and elsewhere over the past four days, driving the corpse count up to 800.

"If a ship is sinking, nobody will survive. Egypt is our ship that we should protect," said Allam.

The Grand Mufti, one of Egypt's highest religious authorities, urged security apparatuses to vigorously enforce the law and hold violators to account.

Allam also warned against inflammatory rhetoric. "A good word could stop the bloodshed and draw opponents closer, and a wicked word might lead to a loss of lives and deepen the rift."

Amnesty denounces 'utter carnage' in Egypt
[Al Ahram] Amnesia Amnesty International Monday denounced the "utter carnage" in Egypt, after festivities between security forces and supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi killed hundreds across the country in the past week.

The London-based rights group also said the international community's response to the political crisis in Egypt, where the festivities between Islamist protesters and security forces left more than 800 people dead since August 14, was "weak and ineffective".

"A clear violation of international law and standards has been carried out in Egypt in what can be described as no less than utter carnage," Salil Shetty, Secretary General of Amnesty, said in a statement issued on Monday.

Amnesty urged the interim authorities to "take immediate action to prevent further loss of life, while bringing security and public order back to the streets".

"The interim government has already stained its human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
record -- first by breaking its promises to use non-lethal weapons to disperse pro-Morsi sit-ins and allow for the safe exit of maimed and then by justifying their actions despite the tragic loss of lives," Shetty added.

He also criticised the international community sharply over their reaction to the Egypt bloodshed.

"The response of the international community has been weak and ineffective, even as everyone leaps to condemn the horrific loss of life," he said, urging it to "act decisively to send a message that no government can behave this way and retain any credibility."

Shetty said that even if some of Morsi's supporters had used violence against the security forces as they broke up demonstrations calling for the Islamist president's return, "that could never justify such a disproportionate response" from police and troops.

Bruderbund Dissendent blames Bruderbund for Egyptian riots and deaths
Dissendent? Is that a descendant of a dissident? Always best to snuff 'em out at the roots...
[AlArabiya] ...Amr Amara, a formed Brotherhood member and founder of the Muslim Brotherhood youth coalition, called for the execution of all prominent members of the group for their role in what he termed to be the spilling of Egyptian blood.

Amara told Al Arabiya on Saturday that he was supported by 7000 members of the youth coalition and that they planned to "file a lawsuit on Saturday against the ousted President Mohammed Mursi, and the members of the guidance office, and the advisory board of the group, and the head of branches in the group for pitting themselves against their opponents and killing Egyptians."....

China-Japan-Koreas
Nork ICBMs in parade 'Were Dummies'
A set of intercontinental ballistic missiles North Korea showcased during a military parade last month were mock-ups, U.S. experts have concluded.

Analyzing "high-resolution images of the Musudan medium-range missile and the ICBM, known as the Hwasong-13, taken at the July 27 military parade" to mark the 60th anniversary of the armistice that ended the Korean War, U.S. government experts and independent analysts concluded that the missiles are "almost certainly nothing more than fakes," NBC reported Thursday.

Markus Schiller, a former RAND Corporation military analyst, said, "There was no evidence on the rear of the Hwasong-13 of retro rockets necessary to separate the stages -- critical if an ICBM is to reach sub-orbital space and strike distant targets."

He added, "Varied features on the rockets -- such as differing placement of small guidance nozzles and hatches -- are telling... My opinion is that it's a big hoax."

Schiller added they were not even training simulators but "crude fakes." "The North also seems to be trying to inflate the number of Hwasong-13s it claims to possess. I can tell that on the mock-ups, they simply changed the markings and serial numbers from last year's parade to make it look like they have more missiles."

The expert also dismissed as fakes six missiles the North displayed during a military parade in April last year.

James Oberg, an NBC News space and missile expert, pointed to "'undulating skin' near the warhead on one" rocket that "would make the missiles less airworthy." He added, "Upper-stage missile skin has got to be really smooth, or else it sets off high-speed turbulent air flow."

"Our assessment is that what we are looking at is most likely simulators used for training purposes," another U.S. government expert told NBC.

Prostitution, Drug Abuse Spread in N.Korea
Dire economic straits compounded by a weakening regime have led to an increase in prostitution, drug abuse and human trafficking in North Korea. The regime blames the negative influence of capitalism and is cracking down hard on offenders.
Couldn't possibly be the combination of totalitarian rule, extreme poverty, a sense of hopelessness and atomization of society, could it...
It is at that point that spontaneous extreme capitalism occurs. Nothing less will serve to differentiate those who stay quick from the dead.
Intelligence officials here say these problems are spreading especially in parts of the North close to the Chinese border.

In the past, prostitution in North Korea existed primarily near military barracks or train stations, but a growing number of young women in all parts of the country are turning to prostitution to earn a living or make money to buy cosmetics, mobile phones or cover their wedding costs.

According to one source, prostitution rings began to crop up in the mid-2000s, and now even university students are turning to prostitution. Their clients are often high-ranking officials.

Sexual promiscuity is generally on the rise. According to sources, condoms were the best-selling product in a large open-air market in Hyesan, Ryanggang Province bordering China last year. A physical exam for the military draft of 16-year-olds years in Chongjin showed that more than 60 percent of the girls had had sexual experiences, said a North Korean defector who used to be a ranking official in the Workers Party.

Virginity is a prerequisite for the song-and-dance troupes who entertain the North Korean dictator, and the defector said officials had a hard time finding any virgins.

There are also accounts of an increase in sexually transmitted diseases in some parts of North Korea.

Drug dealing began to spread throughout North Korea in the 2000s. There are drug factories in the Sunan district of Pyongyang and Munchon, Kangwon Province whose illicit products are strictly for sale overseas to generate dollar revenues for the regime. But now ordinary people also put their hands to drug production and dealing.

"The whole of North Korean society is being affected by illegal drugs," said another defector. "Some wealthy people use them to lose their weight and other people take them to treat colds and fatigue. They are considered wonder cures in North Korea."

Sources say more than 30 percent of athletes tested positive for drug use in a doping test for a sporting event in 2012 to mark late leader Kim Jong-il's birthday on Feb. 16.

During the harsh famine in the mid to late 1990s, human traffickers lured hungry women with food and sold them to pimps in China. However, since 2000, North Korean women voluntarily cross the border into China apparently knowing the dangers that await them.

The North Korean freighter that was detained by Panama last month for shipping undeclared military equipment from Cuba could face a fine of up to US$1 million.
I think that's more than those MiG parts are worth...
How about the oily sugar? Surely that is worth something.
AFP reported that fines imposed by the Panamanian authorities range from $10,000 to $100,000 for serious violations, and go as high as 1 million for very serious violations. It added that Panamanian officials have described the North Korean case as a very serious violation.

A group of UN inspectors is currently in Panama to determine whether Pyongyang violated a UN ban on arms shipments.

Europe
Al-Qaeda 'targeting European rail network': report
[La Belle France24] Al-Qaeda is plotting attacks on Europe's high-speed rail network, German mass circulation daily Bild reported on Monday, citing intelligence sources.
"Hey, Achmed! Whyncha get some guys to bomb the railroads. Mother of Satan would be just the thing, and your guys could mix it up in the kitchen of their mom."
The hard boy group could plant explosives on trains and tunnels or sabotage tracks and electrical cabling, said Bild, Europe's most widely read daily.
That's been a possibility for years. Occasionally something is found by those whose job it is to find such things.
Bild said the information came from the National Security Agency (NSA) in the United States, which had listened in to a conference call involving top Al-Qaeda operatives.

The attacks on Europe's rail network was a "central topic" of this call, Bild said.

Authorities in Germany have responded to the threat with discrete measures such as deploying plain-clothed coppers at key stations and on main routes, according to the daily.

The Grand Turk
Erdogan: Israel orchestrated Morsi overthrow, Egypt unrest
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Israel of orchestrating the Egyptian military's overthrow of deposed Islamist president Mohamed Morsi.

"Israel is behind the coup in Egypt, we have evidence," Erdogan was quoted as saying in the Turkish daily Today's Zaman on Tuesday.
Yep, and you're next.
This is part and parcel of the Brüderbünd alleging that al-Sisi is a Zionist, and the New York Times alleging that Israel is orchestrating events in Egypt.

As Colonel Hannibal would say, "I love it when a plan comes together."

Home Front: WoT
Fort Hood Judge Bans Evidence of Shooter's 'Jihadi' Motives
[ABCNews] Lawyers representing the family members of those killed and injured in the Ft. Hood shooting rampage were outraged today when an Army judge limited prosecutors from introducing evidence, including emails to a known Al Qaeda operative, that would establish accused shooter Maj. Nidal Hasan's "jihadi" motives.

The judge's rulings could inhibit the ability of the victims' families to claim in a civil suit that the shootings were an act of terror. Federal lawyers involved in the civil suit claim that the people shot during Hasan's murderous rage were victims of workplace violence, a designation that could sharply limit the damages in a civil suit.

The judge, Col. Tara Osborn, ruled today that prosecutors could not mention Hasan's correspondence with Alwaki, an American born al Qaeda recruiter and organizer. Osborn also barred prosecutors from mentioning Hassan's interest in seeking conscientious objector status and drawing parallels to a 2003 incident in which another Mohammedan American soldier attacked U.S. troops in Kuwait, according to the News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

The judge found much of that evidence was too old, but permitted prosecutors to introduce evidence about Hasan's internet usage and search history from the time of the attack.

Prosecutors said on Friday they would soon be wrapping their case against Hasan, which means he may begin his defense as early as Tuesday.

If convicted, he could face the death penalty.

Of course not. Any discussion along these lines might reveal the reasons why Hasan was given such a long leash. In Classified Cyberwar Against Iran, Trail Of Stuxnet Leak Leads To White House
[WashTimes] The Obama administration provided a New York Times reporter exclusive access to a range of high-level national security officials for a book that divulged highly classified information on a U.S. cyberwar on Iran's nuclear program, internal State Department emails show.

The information in the 2012 book by chief Washington correspondent David E. Sanger has been the subject of a yearlong Justice Department criminal investigation: The FBI is hunting for those who leaked details to Mr. Sanger about a U.S.-Israeli covert cyberoperation to infect Iran's nuclear facilities with a debilitating computer worm known as Stuxnet.

A New York Times story adapted from the book, "Confront and Conceal: Obama's Secret Wars and Surprising Use of American Power," quotes participants in secret White House meetings discussing plans to unleash Stuxnet on Iran.

Egyptian Press Confirms Washington Infiltrated By Broederbond
[Counter Jihad reprint of Investors Business Daily, 9 Jan 2013 article] The radical Muslim Broederbond doesn't just threaten Israel and Mideast peace. According to the Egyptian press, several of its operatives have infiltrated the U.S. government and are influencing policy here.

The respected Egyptian magazine Rose al-Youssef has identified at least six Broederbond-tied agents of influence who have worked into positions inside the Champ administration.

The weekly publication, founded in 1925, said the operatives have turned the White House "from a position hostile to Islamic groups and organizations in the world to the largest and most important supporter of the Muslim Broederbond," an Egyptian-based jihadist movement that supports Hamas and al-Qaida.

President Obama backed the Broederbond's takeover of Egypt and has courted its front groups in America. Secret Service records show their representatives making hundreds of visits to the White House since 2009.

"The Broederbond in America is committed to destroying the West from within," former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy told IBD, citing secret documents unearthed by the FBI after 9/11. "It has spent half a century building a considerable infrastructure here," largely with Saudi funding.
Where is McCarthy these days ?
"Unfortunately," he added, "our government has done much to empower the Brotherhood's American network under the guise of 'Islamic outreach.'

India-Pakistan
Pakistan charges ex-leader Musharraf with Bhutto's murder
Pakistan's ex-military ruler Pervez Musharraf was indicted Tuesday on three counts over the murder of opposition leader Benazir Bhutto who died in a gun and suicide attack in December 2007.

Bringing charges against a former army chief is an unprecedented move in a country ruled for more than half of its life by the military and considered the single most powerful institution.

It is one of a series of cases that Musharraf has faced since returning from self-imposed exile earlier this year. He seized power in a bloodless coup in 1999 and was forced out in 2008.

"He was charged with murder, criminal conspiracy for murder and facilitation for murder," public prosecutor Chaudhry Azhar told AFP at the anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi hearing the case.

Musharraf, 69, who was bundled into the court amid high security, denied the charges and the case was adjourned until August 27.

He has been under house arrest at his plush villa on the edge of the capital Islamabad since April 19.

Officials had said threats against his life were too severe earlier this month for him to appear in court to face the charges.

"The charges were read out to him in the court. He denied the charges," said Azhar.

"The case has been adjourned until August 27 for evidence to be brought," he added.

Musharraf's legal team dismissed the indictment.

"These charges are baseless. We are not afraid of the proceedings. We will follow legal procedures in the court," his lawyer Syeda Afshan Adil told AFP.

Scores of security forces guarded the area around the court in Rawalpindi, the city where Bhutto was killed on December 27, 2007, and roads were sealed off for Musharraf's appearance.

The indictment follows lingering speculation about the possibility of a behind-the-scenes deal that could allow Musharraf to leave Pakistan without facing the courts and embarrassing the military.

Bhutto, twice elected prime minister of Pakistan, was assassinated in a gun and bomb attack after campaigning for elections that were won by her Pakistan People's Party in February 2008.

There was no public claim of responsibility for her murder.

Addressing a public gathering at Nishtar Hall in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. "The PTI chairman has advised his party leaders to not use a word of condemnation in statements issued after every terrorist attack," he claimed.

People of the province were deceived with slogan of a "new Pakistain," said Asfandyar. "Is this the new Pakistain where ministers are afraid of attending funerals of even their colleagues in the provincial assembly," he added.

Speaking about the slain ANP leader and senior KP minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour, who was killed in a suicide kaboom in December last year, he said that Bashir Bilour was a brave man and never bowed down to the terrorist threats.

"People of Peshawar should honour the sacrifices of Bashir Ahmed Bilour and vote for his brother Ghulam Ahmed Bilour in the upcoming by-election," he appealed the masses.

Asfandyar Wali said that Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam

Indian army told to retaliate to Pakistan border firing: Antony
[Dawn] India's army will take "all possible steps" to counter any ceasefire violations by Pakistain along the border between the two countries, the Indian defence minister said Monday, warning not to take New Delhi's restraint for granted.

Skirmishes have erupted across the heavily militarised Line of Control (LoC), the de facto border in Kashmire, since five Indian soldiers were killed earlier this month in an ambush which India has blamed on the Pakistain army.

Pakistain has denied the claims and reminded New Delhi about the importance of resuming the peace dialogue between the two countries and protecting the touchy ties from 'negative media propaganda', a few weeks ago.

However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
India responded with a clear indication that killing of five of its soldiers on the Line of Control would delay the secretary-level talks with Pakistain, asserting that dialogue could only proceed in an environment free of violence and terror.

"Our restraint should not be taken for granted nor the capacity of our armed forces to protect the sanctity of the LoC," Indian Defence Minister A.K. Antony was quoted by AFP as saying in the parliament's upper house on Monday.

"Now our army will take all possible steps -- sometimes strong action -- to effectively retaliate against every violation along the LoC," he added.

Islamabad has refuted involvement of its soldiers in the ambush, one of the deadliest in years targeting Indian troops in the disputed Moslem-majority region.

Kashmire has been a cause of conflict between India and Pakistain since 1947 when the departing British colonial power partitioned India and the Kashmire became a disputed territory between the two neighbors.

The renewed tensions have jeopardised plans for what the two governments hoped might be a breakthrough encounter between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pak counterpart Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
on the sidelines of a UN meeting in New York next month.

Antony alleged that Pak soldiers were behind as many as 82 ceasefire violations on the border this year and warned of consequences on the country's long-term relations with Islamabad.

"Naturally this incident will have consequences on our behaviour at the LoC and on our relationship with Pakistain," he said.

Similarly Pakistain Army claimed that India has made 186 ceasefire violations this year alone

On August 6 of this month, India lodged a diplomatic protest with Pakistain over an alleged attack on an army post in which five of its soldiers were killed.

"The government of India has lodged a strong protest with the government of Pakistain through diplomatic channels," Antony had told politicians a day earlier.

"The attack was carried out by 20 heavily-armed terrorists, along with persons in Mighty Pak Army uniform," he had added, however later.

"The very foundations of the country have been shaken due to lack of administrative skills, rampant corruption in every sphere and inefficiency of the last fourteen years that has brought national institutions like PIA, Pakistain Steel, Railway and WAPDA to the verge of virtual collapse," he said.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Warning: Terrorists Aim To Hit Israeli, Jewish Targets In Coming Weeks
[IsraelTimes] Israeli and Jewish targets all over the world are likely to be sought out by terrorist organizations in the coming weeks, the Israeli government's Counter-Terrorism Bureau warned in strikingly strident tones on Monday, listing dozens of countries where it said it had "concrete" indications of a terrorist threat.

It cited concerns about terrorist acts timed to coincide with the forthcoming Rosh Hashana (New Year), Yom Kippur and Succot festivals, and also said that the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the US was likely to be "a favored period" for al-Qaeda and other global jihadist groups to attempt to carry out acts of terrorism.

Iran and Hezbollah, it warned, were continuing their "global terror campaign" against Israeli and Jewish targets. It noted that Iran remained bent on avenging alleged Israeli responsibility for the killing of Hezbollah terror chief Imad Mughniyeh in a Damascus car-bombing in 2008, and the deaths of three Iranian nuclear scientists.

It said its information indicated that Israeli businessmen and ex-government officials were prime potential targets for liquidation and/or kidnapping.

With all that in mind, the bureau reconfirmed that Israelis are barred altogether from travel to Iran, Leb, Syria, Iraq, Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and Yemen, where the "concrete" terror threat was "very high."

In addition, it ordered Israelis not to travel to Sudan, Somalia, Algeria, Djibouti, Mauritania, Libya and Tunisia, and to leave these countries immediately if they were there, because of a similarly "very high" terror threat. Where Tunisia was concerned, it underlined what it said were the "threats to carry out attacks on Israeli and Jewish targets."

The unusually shrill and widespread alert included an order to Israelis not to travel to the Sinai Peninsula, because of the chaotic situation in Egypt. The Sinai's Red Sea resorts are a traditionally popular holiday destination for Israelis, especially at this time of year. The advisory noted that Sinai was off limits not only because of the general Egyptian disorder and a series of recent attacks in the Sinai, however, but also because of "information on the intention to carry out further attacks."

Using only slightly less urgent language, the bureau, part of the National Security Council under the authority of the Prime Minister's Office, ordered Israelis to "avoid visiting" the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Egypt and Qatar, where it cited what it called a "basic" terrorist threat. Israel maintains peace agreements with both Jordan and Egypt, and the warning underlines what the bureau called "the complex security realities" in nations adjacent to Israel.

The bureau also told Israelis to postpone nonessential visits to Turkey, Oman and Morocco, because of "ongoing potential threats."

Slightly further afield, it cited "very high" terror threats in Afghanistan, parts of southern Thailand, parts of the southern Philippines, east Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
, India's Kashmire province, northern Nigeria, parts of Kenya, and Chechnya. Israelis were not to travel to any of those areas, and to leave immediately if they were there, it ordered.

The advisory also specified a "high" terror threat in Indonesia, Burkina-Faso, Ivory Coast, Togo, Mali, Malaysia and Pakistain, telling Israelis not to go there and urging them to leave as soon as possible if they were there now.

The bureau's warning also specified concerns about terror threats to Israeli "business targets" worldwide, and especially in Africa, "in the wake of the exposure of a terrorist infrastructure in Nigeria over the past year."

Generally, it urged Israelis traveling worldwide to take extra precautions, such as avoiding unexpected meetings or out of the way places, and to change regular travel routes.

The full report was made available on the National Security Council website (Hebrew only).

So what do those all have in common? It certainly isn't Israel. Maybe there's something about the perps that is consistent.

Paleo whines about Paleos being hated by egypt
A tidbit of a whiny self indulgent Paleo's tale
...the anti-Palestinian sentiment in Egypt is no laughing matter. Many Egyptian media commentators, known for their affiliation with the state, are having unlimited space to renew their hate-filled campaigns by unabashedly inciting violence against Palestinians. A fascist-like discourse has been brewing for years, but has morphed into ways unprecedented since the coup against President Mohammed Morsi by the Egyptian military on July 3...
O! How they do suffer, the poor darlings! And all completely undeserved.

#1  Hated by Egypt? Considering they've been kicked out of every country they've been in, I'd say the sentiment isn't exactly limited to the Egyptians. The Paleos are like the Jews of the Middle East. Besides the real Jews, I mean.

Ban Insists on Free Access in Syria Chemical Weapons Probe
[An Nahar] U.N. chief the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon
... of whom it can be said to his credit that he is not Kofi Annan...
insisted Monday that U.N. experts be granted unrestricted access to Syrian sites under investigation for chemical weapons use as they began their mission.

Ban added that "the government and all other entities within Syria must ensure the safety and security of the mission."

He said Sherlocks will collect samples as well as conduct interviews and examine witnesses, victims, and attending medical personnel.

The team will also conduct post-mortem examinations.

Ban emphasized that the mission would not determine who used chemical weapons but only whether chemical weapons were used. He said he hoped findings would help deter use in the future.

"In order to credibly establish the facts, the mission must have full access to the sites of the alleged incidents," he said.

Judge Interrogates 3 Detainees Charged with Belonging to an 'Armed Terrorist' Organization
[An Nahar] Military Examining Magistrate Judge Fadi Sawan questioned on Monday Ibrahim Khanjar and his brother Wassim and Mohammed Hmeid, who are charged with belonging to an armed terrorist organization and the possession of weapons.

According to the state-run National News agency, the three men are also accused of carrying out terrorist acts and the possession of explosives.

Ibrahim is also involved in opening fire at an army patrol at the end of July in the Bekaa town of Majdal Anjar and killing a soldier and injuring another.

on August 2.

An arrest warrant was issued against the three men.

Sawan however postponed to Tuesday the interrogation of a fourth suspect Khaled Dally.

Khanjar is also accused of the abduction of the seven Estonians and killing of army intelligence Maj. Abdo Jasser, his lover companion First Sgt. Ziad al-Mais and another soldier in Majdal Anjar in 2011.

20-year-old soldier Charbel Hatem was killed and Paul Ashqouti was injured after their patrol was targeted with gunshots during a raid in Majdal Anjar to apprehend Wissam Khanjar.

The seven Estonians were freed in July 2011, almost four months after being kidnapped by gunnies as they entered the country on a bicycle tour from neighboring Syria.

Their release took place amid unclear circumstances.

Sader Hands over 13 Bodies of Ruwais Blast Victims to Relatives
[An Nahar] Military Court Judge Sami Sader began on Monday handing over the bodies of Beirut's southern suburbs Ruwais neighborhood blast victims to their relatives.

According to the state-run National news agency, thirteen identified bodies have been handed over so far, in addition to the body of a Syrian worker.

The news agency reported that the primary investigations are ongoing, in particular regarding the BMW car that was used in the kaboom.

The Ruwais blast claimed the lives of 27 people and maimed more than 336 other.

The casualty toll is the highest in Leb since a massive car kaboom on the Beirut seafront killed former prime minister Rafik Hariri and 22 others in February 2005.

and has sent fighters across the border to Syria this year to bolster government forces, which have been battling a deadly anti-regime revolt since March 2011.

A defiant Nasrallah said on Friday he himself was ready to go and fight in Syria against radical Islamists, whom he accused of being responsible for the boom-mobileing.

On Saturday, the Syrian opposition National Coalition warned against a "cycle of violence" in Leb if Hizbullah continues to send fighters to help the Damascus regime.

An online video surfaced shortly after the attack showing three masked men, two of them holding rifles, in front of a white flag inscribed with the Islamic profession of faith, claiming the attack.
