The kaboomdestroyed the weekly market in the village of Sabon Gari, around 135 kilometers (85 miles) south of Borno state capital Maiduguri, during peak trading around 1:15 pm (1230 GMT), the sources said.
"We have received at least 47 dead bodies and at least 50 with injuries from the Sabon Gari market, where there was a blast this afternoon," a nurse at Biu General Hospital, around 50 kilometers (30 miles) away, told AFP.
He said the injuries from the blast are mostly "severe" and that the corpse count was expected to rise.
"The kaboom happened inside the market at the mobile phone section, near the livestock section of the market," said Yuram Bura, a member of a local vigilante group fighting Boko Haram alongside the army.
"It was concealed in a napsack used for spraying herbicides. It was smuggled into the market and apparently abandoned... This is no doubt the handiwork of Boko Haram."

British Transport police launched a hunt across the London Underground on Tuesday afternoon after the blade attack on the Victoria line platform at Finsbury Park. Armed officers had earlier halted the Victoria line service to board and search a carriage at King's Cross St Pancras.
The man is due to be questioned by police on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. A pair of scissors was recovered during the arrest.
A BTP front man said: "A man has been arrested at Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3 underground station on suspicion of GBH after a man was assaulted at Finsbury Park underground station earlier today.
"BTP detectives will be speaking to the man in due course. The assault occurred on the southbound Victoria line platform shortly before 1.45pm. A 63-year-old man was taken to hospital with cuts to his body and face. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

In the latest such case, a couple was arrested Saturday in Columbus, Mississippi as they attempted to board a flight to Istanbul via Amsterdam.
The Justice Department said Jaelyn Delshaun Young, 20, and Muhammad Oda Dakhlalla, 22, admitted they planned to join the Islamic State group in Syria.
They were charged with conspiring and attempting to provide material support to the Lion of Islam group, a charge that carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison if they are found guilty.

Nader Saadeh, who traveled to Jordan in May in an apparent attempt to join IS fighters in Iraq or Syria, is accused of conspiring and attempting to provide material support to the Lion of Islams. Prosecutors say that as early as 2012 Saadeh was in contact with one of the other three accused in the New York area, expressing hatred for America and wanting to form a small army of friends.

But Saadeh was arrested in Jordan shortly after his arrival, before being flown back to America to answer U.S. justice.
Back in New Jersey, his 23-year-old brother Alaa Saadeh was arrested on June 29 and charged with conspiring to provide services and personnel to the Islamic State group and with witness tampering.
The brothers had shared an apartment together after their parents were deported for criminal convictions, court papers say. Their father lives in Oman.
Last month Samuel Topaz, 21, from Fort Lee, New Jersey, was charged with conspiracy to provide material support to the Islamic State organization.
Munther Saleh, a student from New York, was also arrested after trying to stab an FBI surveillance officer and was allegedly planning to carry out a kaboom in the city.
The head of the FBI, James Comey, last month briefed the Senate select committee on intelligence that upwards of 200 Americans have traveled or attempted to travel to Syria to join the Islamic State group.
Nader Saadeh lived in Rutherford until he left the country May 5.
Saadeh's brother told authorities an alleged conspirator from Queens gave Saadeh an ISIS contact near the The Sick Man of Europe Turkey/Syria border who could facilitate his travel once overseas, federal officials said.
Officials said there was no specific plot, although some suspects arrested earlier this year were allegedly scouting New York City landmarks as possible targets, including the George Washington Bridge.
Saadeh was ordered to be held without bail during a hearing in federal court in Newark Monday afternoon. Each of the charges carries up to 20 years in prison.
Officials said the parents of the Nader Saadeh were deported more than a decade ago in connection with an alleged credit card fraud case. The Saadeh children were allowed to stay with custodians in New Jersey because they were US citizens, officials said.

[ALMANAR.LB] Three kabooms, two of them suicide kabooms, killed 58 people near Baquba, the capital of Iraq's restive eastern province of Diyala on Monday, police and medics said.
The blasts came less than a month after a massive suicide kaboom left at least 120 dead in Khan Bani Saad, which is also in Diyala.
The deadliest of Monday's bombings was in an area called Huwaydir. Security sources and medics at the main hospital in Baquba said at least 20 people were killed there and 45 maimed, the initial tolls stated.
"A jacket wallah driving a booby-trapped vehicle went kaboom! in the middle of the central market area in Huwaydir," a police lieutenant-colonel said.
Another suicide bomber drove his explosives-laden vehicle past a checkpoint before blowing himself up in Kanaan district, killing at least 10 and wounding the same number, a police captain said.
An improvised bomb also went off in a neighborhood between Baquba and Huwaydir, killing three and wounding four, the same source said.
It was not immediately clear how many of the victims were civilians.
Following the July 17 bombing in Khan Bani Saad, the provincial authorities had tightened security across the province, especially in Baquba which lies about 70 kilometers (45 miles) north of Baghdad.
The Khan Bani Saad blast came on the eve of the feast marking the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan and shocked the nation.

[Bangkok Post] A villager and a suspected militant were killed and two villagers injured when shooting broke out in Narathiwat province.
The incident occurred Monday evening on a road in Si Sakhon district when three family members were returning home on two motorcycles after going hunting. Driving into their village, they were ambushed by a group of attackers hiding along the roadside, who fired at them with military-grade weapons.
One of the villagers was shot and killed on the spot. The two others were injured, but managed to return fire with shotguns. One of the attackers was killed in the ensuing gunfight, while the others fled.
Substantial ransoms have been banked -- it's a lucrative trade for ISIS, and allows for plenty of amusement until each deal is consummated.

They were among more than 200 members of the Christian minority who were kidnapped by IS in February as it swept through the Khabur region in the northeastern Hasakeh province.
The Assyrian Observatory for Human Rights, which monitors the fate of the minority, said the 22 hostages included 14 women.
It published photographs of the former hostages, showing several elderly women weeping as they were greeted by a priest.
The release was "the result of the tireless efforts and negotiations by the Assyrian Church of the East in the city of Hasakeh," the group said.
A second group, the Assyrian Network for Human Rights, also reported the release, saying those freed were from two villages in Khabur, Tal Shamiram and Tal Jazira.
Director Osama Edward said negotiations were ongoing to secure the release of the additional 187 hostages being held by IS.
"There is a positive atmosphere around the negotiation," he told AFP, adding that no additional releases could be confirmed yet.
Assyrians numbered about 30,000 among Syria's 1.2 million Christians before the country's conflict began. They lived mostly in 35 villages in Hasakeh.
In February, IS overran many of the villages, but Kurdish forces later expelled the jihadists from all the places it had seized.
IS has captured hundreds of hostages, including Christians from different sects, in territory in Syria and Iraq.

[ALMANAR.LB] Six Syrian civilians were killed in a terrorist attack with rocket shells on the residential area of al-Midan in Aleppo city on Monday.
Official news agency, SANA, quoted a source at the police command as saying that terrorists located in Bustan al-Basha neighborhood launched rocket shells on al-Midan area, killing six civilians including three children and injured 14 others.
A source in Al-Razi Hospital said that most of those who were wounded in the attack were women and children, SANA added.

An army unit clashed with an armed terrorist group which tried to infiltrate towards
Buthina field, 35 km northeast of Sweida city.
The festivities resulted in the killing of a number of members of the armed terrorist group and the demolishing of their vehicles, while the rest of bully boyz fled towards al-Badia.

The army's air force also carried out air strikes against gatherings of bully boyz and their dens in Ma'arkaba and al-Lahaiya in the northern countryside of the province, inflicting heavy losses upon the terrorists.

The Army Air Force destroyed terrorists' weapons storage, an bombs factory and killed a number of bully boyz in Rabee'a town in the northern countryside of the coastal Lattakia province.
The terrorist organizations acknowledged on their social media pages the death of 15 of their members during army operations in Hama.

[AnNahar] The Lebanese army intelligence announced on Monday the arrest of a member of Osama Masnour's terrorist group.
An army statement said that Abdul Rahman Tareq al-Kilani was detained upon his return to Leb from abroad.
During investigations, he admitted to belonging to Mansour's group and participating in attacks against army positions in the northern city of Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... He also confessed that while he was abroad, he was tasked by runaways Bilal Bader and Shadi al-Mawlawi, to recruit teenagers to carry out terrorist attacks against the military and Internal Security Forces.
