-Lurid Crime Tales-
This just doesn't seen like a good idea...
[WDAF] KANSAS CITY, Mo. — There’s a new warning about a crime that some are linking to the high price of gas — thieves drilling into vehicle gas tanks to steal fuel.
Oh c’mon — all they need to do is weld a small patch over the hole, right?
Newer vehicles have an anti-rollover valve that relieves pressure in the tank and also prevents would-be thieves from siphoning gas, according to AAA, so crooks are bypassing the valve and drilling right into the underside of the car.

In Kansas City, police in Overland Park and Independence are investigating multiple such reports. Police say the crimes happened overnight last week and left at least two pickup trucks and a third vehicle damaged.

#7  Many years ago I caught 2 weinerheads doing that to my car. I heard some noise outside my house around 1:00 AM. My dogs woke me up. They were very afraid of my .45 colt. They were both 18. I don't think they enjoyed their stay in the County jail.

#8  I have seen a weld done on a fuel tank containing fuel, TW. Heard of such a couple of times by some old timers. Nitrogen or CO2 purges to force out Oxygen. Still very unsafe. Only done for dire straits. Lots of tight buttholes on the one I saw. The weld was below the fuel line too. A brass punch and brass hammer are faster than a drill and dont spark. I was reluctant to say that, but any thief reading here will know that. The good folks here should know how for myriad reasons.

-Great Cultural Revolution
Jussie Smollett LEAVES Chicago jail flanked by bodyguards just six days after he was sentenced to 150 days for faking hate crime: Judge ruled he should remain free during appeal and set bond at $150,000
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Disgraced 'Empire' actor Jussie Smollett has been released from jail after just six days behind bars so he can appeal his conviction for faking a hate crime - with his lawyer saying the 39-year-old was refusing food behind bars, and had 'nearly given up'.

Smollett did not speak as he left the Cook County Jail, and was flanked by bodyguards as he walked out and into a waiting SUV.

He was freed after he posts the required $150,000 personal recognizance bond.

Nenye Uche, Smollett's lawyer, said that the actor put his hands on the glass separating him from his client when the news was broken to him, and reacted with 'shock'.

'He was shocked,' said Uche. 'He had nearly given up.'

Smollett spent just two of his days with the general jail population, and four in a psychiatric unit over fears for his mental wellbeing.

Judges ruled that he should go free while his lawyers work on the appeal of his conviction on five felony counts of lying to police about a racist and homophobic attack. He was jailed for 150 days.Uche, his lawyer, told the waiting press: 'Obviously the Smollett family are very, very happy about this. We are elated.'

He then criticized the judge who presided over Smollett's December trial, and who sentenced him on Thursday. Uche accused Judge James Linn of having politicized the trial, and responded to the intense public interest in the case.

Military Doctor Testifies in Court That a Superior Ordered Her Not to Discuss Data Showing Massive Spikes in Illness After Vaccine Mandate
[AmGreatness] A military medical officer testified in court last week that she was ordered by a superior not to discuss her findings regarding the DoD’s Defense Medical Epidemiology Database (DMED) during the hearing. DMED provides web-based access to active military personnel and medical event data.

On March 10, Liberty Counsel, the law firm representing thirty members of the military who are fighting the military vaccine mandate, returned to federal court to defend the preliminary injunction Judge Steven Merryday granted two military plaintiffs that allowed them to skirt the military vaccine mandate. The Department of Defense (DoD) asked the judge to set aside the injunction while the case was on appeal.

Judge Merryday is a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

#1  This bullshit is just an extension of the BLM anti white cancel culture.

Classical music’s recent self-abasement for its “whiteness” laid the groundwork for this presumptive group guilt. Since the George Floyd race riots in May and June 2020, directors of orchestras, opera companies, and conservatories have lambasted their own field for its historical demographics, said to be inextricably linked to racism. Music critics have sneered at Beethoven and other composers for having allegedly leveraged their whiteness to achieve undeserved acclaim. Mea culpas and promises of fealty to Black Lives Matter have become de rigeuer in mission statements and fundraising pitches. Now these coerced confessions are demanded of a subset of musicians whose Russianness makes them as suspect as whiteness does the entire Caucasian population

Alabama apologizes for asking man to give up 'Let's go Brandon' license plate
[Washington Exmaner] The specialized license plate, for which he paid $700 last year, had initially been recalled, and the department sent a letter saying it considered the license plate — which reads "LGBF JB," implicitly representing "Let's Go Brandon F*** Joe Biden" — to be "offensive to the peace and dignity of the State of Alabama."

The original letter says Kirk’s registration for the personalized license plate would not be issued or renewed and that he would have to return the plate within 10 days or face fines ranging from $500 to $1,000, in addition to having the vehicle’s registration revoked.

Following a wave of media coverage of the license plate, which is yellow and features the "Don’t Tread on Me" Gadsden flag design, Kirk said the department had a change of heart.

"State sent a letter saying, not quote, but, 'We're sorry, Mr. Kirk. We really apologize. You're a lot bigger and stronger than us,'" Kirk joked on The Line with Andrew McLain podcast Monday.

Kirk claimed the "F" in his license plate does not stand for a curse word but instead means "forget." He argued that the state cannot prove otherwise, according to AL.com.

Few facts, much speculation as explosions heard in Belarus
[IsraelTimes] Reports indicate that booms are being heard in several areas of southern Belarus.

There is no confirmed reliable information about the source of the blasts, but speculation over the mystery ranges from sonic booms to a false flag attack by Russia to an internal coup.

An opposition politician opposed to Minsk’s alliance with Moscow claims 30 aircraft recently took off and 6 missiles were shot near Kalinkovich, about 30 miles (50 kilometers) from the border with Ukraine.

An Australian threat analysis group reports on other explosions that appear to be separate from those reported above.

Zelenskyy tells NBC's Lester Holt: ‘WWIII has already started’
[FoxNews] Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that World War III may have already started when Russian troops invaded his country and that "civilization is at stake" during an American TV interview hours after addressing Congress Wednesday.

"Nobody knows whether it may have already started," he told NBC News’ Lester Holt. "And what is the possibility of this war if Ukraine will fall, in case Ukraine will? It's very hard to say…We've seen this 80 years ago, when the Second World War had started...nobody would be able to predict when the full-scale war would start."

Vladimir Putin ordered Russian troops to invade Ukraine on Feb. 24 – launching what analysts initially predicted would be a quick war to oust Zelenskyy’s government and replace it with Kremlin-friendly puppets.

President Biden announced another $1 billion in defensive aid to Ukraine Wednesday and went as far as to call Putin a "war criminal," but his administration has resisted Zelenskyy’s calls for a no-fly zone over Ukrainian skies, which NATO officials say would put the U.S.-led alliance in direct military conflict with Russia.

WH indicates Putin war criminal comment was off the cuff, not a policy shift

[IsraelTimes] White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki
...a valley girl who woke up one morning and found she was spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of State under Obama. A new American success story, under Biden she became spokeswoman for the whole administration, and she was even able to get her sister a job...
says US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. The guy who lost Afghanistan, aka Biden's Bungle...
was "speaking from his heart" in reaction to images of Russian attacks on civilians in Ukraine when he called Russian President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
a war criminal, indicating that his comment may not have larger policy implications.

"He was answering a direct question that was asked and responding to what he has seen on television," Psaki tells news hounds. "We have all seen barbaric acts, horrific acts by a foreign dictator in a country that is threatening and taking the lives of civilians — impacting hospitals, women who are pregnant, journalists, others."

"His remarks speak for themselves."

She says a review by the State Department regarding the war criminal designation, which has legal ramifications, is still ongoing.

"There is a legal process that... continues to be underway at the State Department," she says.

FSB discloses data on Ukrainian commanders in SS battalions
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited
And what were the Communists doing at Stalin’s orders at that point? I seem to recall all sorts of horrors perpetrated by the Soviets on their own people as well as every country they forced into their loving embrace. The period from about 1918-1989 was full of choices between evils, only some of which were lessor.
[REGNUM] The Federal Security Service (FSB) released documents with data on Ukrainian commanders in SS battalions.

The Ukrainians, who voluntarily began to cooperate with the Nazis, commanded the punitive battalions of the 19th Latvian SS division. Many civilians were killed by their hands, RIA Novosti reports, referring to information from declassified documents of the Russian Federal Security Service for the Omsk region.

According to the Soviet military counterintelligence "Smersh", the Ukrainians Onisenko, Bugrym and Zavaleichuk, being in the Red Army, at various times in 1941, voluntarily surrendered to the Germans. After that, they also voluntarily entered the service in the Wehrmacht.

The case file states that they, “as notorious traitors to the Soviet military personnel,” were appointed to command posts of the 50th and 284th police battalions of the 19th Latvian SS division.

Bugrym took part in punitive actions with the execution of civilians in the Vitebsk region. After that, in July 1943, the Germans appointed him direct commander of the 284th punitive battalion. Zavaleichuk and Onisenko, who received command posts, also took an active part in punitive actions.

"I personally, as an assistant commander of the 3rd platoon of the 3rd company, shot up to 20 people during a punitive expedition against partisans," Bugrym told during interrogations about his participation in punitive actions before being appointed battalion commander.

The Punisher also stated that in February-April 1943 their battalion burned more than 200 villages "in the Sebezhsky district, the Kalinin region, in the Drissinsky and Osveysky regions, the Vitebsk region."

The population of the burned villages was herded into houses, which were then set on fire. Those who tried to escape were shot.

"We burned alive up to 100 civilians, children, women and the elderly," Bugrym admitted during interrogation.

During interrogations, Zavaleichuk said that in Sebezh, during the battles with partisans in the forest, the punishers found a lot of civilians. People were hiding from the Nazis. Most of them were taken to Latvia. Some of the population hiding in the forests was shot and burned.

"I personally saw several huts of burned citizens, where there were women, old people, children and even infants," Zavaleichuk admitted during interrogations.

Possibly the Ukraine has changed since then, as well. A certain Mr. Luttwak tweets something interesting, if true:

#9  This sounds like complete garbage. The units of the 19th SS division was made up of Latvians (not ukranians). They went on to earn a ferocious reputation during ww2.

The Ukrainians had nothing to do with that unit. This story in completely made up.

A Ukrainian Town Deals Russia One of the War's Most Decisive Routs
[WSJ] In the two-day battle of Voznesensk, local volunteers and the military repelled the invaders, who fled leaving behind armor and dead soldiers.

A Kalashnikov rifle slung over his shoulder, Voznesensk’s funeral director, Mykhailo Sokurenko, spent this Tuesday driving through fields and forests, picking up dead Russian soldiers and taking them to a freezer railway car piled with Russian bodies—the casualties of one of the most comprehensive routs President Vladimir Putin’s forces have suffered since he ordered the invasion of Ukraine.

A rapid Russian advance into the strategic southern town of 35,000 people, a gateway to a Ukrainian nuclear power station and pathway to attack Odessa from the back, would have showcased the Russian military’s abilities and severed Ukraine’s key communications lines.
The rest is paywalled, but I found it can be read if the title is dropped in the Google search app. The next two paragraphs of the very long article with map and photos:
Instead, the two-day battle of Voznesensk, details of which are only now emerging, turned decisively against the Russians. Judging from the destroyed and abandoned armor, Ukrainian forces, which comprised local volunteers and the professional military, eliminated most of a Russian battalion tactical group on March 2 and 3.

The Ukrainian defenders’ performance against a much-better-armed enemy in an overwhelmingly Russian-speaking region was successful in part because of widespread popular support for the Ukrainian cause—one reason the Russian invasion across the country has failed to achieve its principal goals so far. Ukraine on Wednesday said it was launching a counteroffensive on several fronts.

Sen. Hawley warns of Biden SCOTUS pick's 'long record' of letting child porn offenders 'off the hook'
[FOX] Republican Sen. Josh Hawley posted a lengthy Twitter thread Wednesday containing several examples that he says demonstrates an "alarming" pattern of lenient treatment of sex offenders who prey on children from Biden Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.

"Judge Jackson has a pattern of letting child porn offenders off the hook for their appalling crimes, both as a judge and as a policymaker," the Missouri Republican tweeted Wednesday. "She’s been advocating for it since law school. This goes beyond ’soft on crime.’ I’m concerned that this a record that endangers our children."

Tens of thousands of Syrians enlisting to fight alongside Russia in Ukraine war
[IsraelTimes] More than 40,000 register to fight at Syrian recruitment centers, as poverty and lack of jobs push soldiers to look for a better life

Russia has drawn up lists of 40,000 fighters from the Syrian army and allied militias to be put on standby for deployment in Ukraine, a war monitor said Tuesday. The Kremlin said last week that volunteers, including those from Syria, were welcome to fight alongside the Russian army in Ukraine. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and activists said Russian officers, in coordination with the Syrian military and allied militia, had set up registration offices in regime-held areas.

"More than 40,000 Syrians have registered to fight alongside Russia in Ukraine so far," said Rami Abdel Rahman, who heads the UK-based monitor.
